Suspect in Portland shooting killed by law enforcement

"And we're following the news of the death of the suspect in last week's deadly shooting in Portland, Oregon, Michael Forest right now is suspected of killing Eren Danielson. A member of the right wing group Patriot prayer last Saturday as racial justice protesters and pro trump protesters clashed last night right now was shot and killed as law enforcement officers attempted to arrest him. Near Olympia, Washington. They say they were forced to shoot after they say right now pulled out a firearm. Jonathan Levinson is a reporter with Oregon Public Broadcasting, and he's been following this story. Welcome, Jonathan. Hi. Thanks for having me. What else can you tell us about right now and briefly remind us how he encountered Aaron Danielson in Portland. Right now was a 48 professional snowboarder up until the George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, and the protest started in Portland. His social media was about snowboarding about nature, and then When the protest started here. There was this dramatic shift, and it appears that he had been attending the nightly protests downtown. The way he encountered Danielson. There was Trump Caravan last begin that came through Portland. Hundreds of vehicles waving trump flags and fin blue line flags. They all poured into downtown fights broke out between them and counter protesters. Some of the trump demonstrators were shooting people with bare maze and paintball guns from their trucks. A few times they drove their trucks through counter protesters on the Facebook page for the event attendees were encouraged to conceal carry And this came on the heels of free this week's rally that just evolved into really extraordinary violence, a lot of firearms and that crowd as well. So there was tension coming into this past weekend's protest and as it was winding down We know that right now encountered Aaron Danielson downtown. Words were exchanged and ultimately right now fired two shots. One struck Darius and in the chest and killed him right now, then ran away. We don't know the specifics, though. We don't know. You know what happened What the altercation was about or what? Specifically, you know, motivated the shooting. Portland Police obtained a warrant for his arrest yesterday. Explain what happened once they located him. Yeah, Yesterday, Mama County Judge issued the warrant. It wasn't Portland Police located him is just before 7 P.m. members of the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, which is a bunch of different law enforcement agencies. We were waiting outside in apartment near Olympia, Washington, where they thought Reinhold staying right now was saying they confronted him as he was getting into a vehicle and that's when shooting began. The U. S marshals said that he had a gun and was threatening the lives of law enforcement. We have been able to confirm that we don't know if right now fired at them or what exactly transpired.

1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens

"So my episode today. is about the nineteen eighty Mount Saint Helens eruption. So now, we weren't alive then even though we were not alive, then it was you know years until Jillian. Many years. Until we were born. We are in our. Mid Twenty. S. So we're very youthful. Yeah. We say what's a CD or whatever I don't know anything I couldn't even pretend to be a teenager because I have no idea went technology. Don T TIKTOK ON THE TIKTOK You know on the TIKTOK so. Nineteen Eighty Mount Saint Helens eruption has a lot of parallels to what's going on in the world today, but it's an interesting story. So to to start with for our non US friends and Non West Coast friends, I didn't know the details about this when I started researching it but Mount Saint Helen's which is known as a lot lot to the indigenous lets people and Lou wit. Luella cloud to the click a tat is an active stretch of Okano located in. Skamania. County. Washington in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States I. Apologize to the Washingtonians. If I pronounced Skamania county your Skamania county incorrectly. I'm sure I will get an email about this. Fifty miles eighty kilometers northeast of Portland Oregon Ninety, six miles or one hundred and fifty four kilometers south of Seattle Washington. So to get a sense of where Mount Saint Helen's is. If you're thinking of both Washington state and Oregon is roughly like. Square ish rectangular ish in shape with Washington, in the north and Oregon just below. Mount Saint Helen's is in the lower left quadrant of Washington state near the border of Oregon. and. She's roughly halfway between Portland, and the Portland Oregon and Olympia Washington, which is the Washington state capital. Okay. also relevant northeast of Mount. Saint Helen's is what's called Spirit Lake. And there's a bunch of little rivers and creeks in that area just due to like the geology of the area but almost directly north of the mountain is the north fork toodle river. River toodle or Poudel T. O. U. T.. L. E. Title River. So. Also? Mount Saint. Helen's takes its English name from the British diplomats. Lowered Saint Helen's is a friend of explorer George Vancouver who made a survey of the area in the late eighteenth century The volcano is located in the cascade range is part of the cascade volcanic arc, which is a segment of the Pacific Ring of fire that includes over one hundred and sixty active volcanoes and for the record before the explosion mount. Saint, Helen's stood at nine, thousand, six, hundred and eighty feet high. So. They knew it was part of the ring of the ring of Fire Okay Yeah Yeah So. They knew as part of the ring of fire. It had experienced some activity throughout recorded history but it. It remained dormant basically from its last period of activity in the eighteen, Forty S and eighteen fifties. So by one thousand, nine hundred had been more than one hundred years before there was any like really significant activity that includes ash like little burps and like any kind of flow or anything like that. So. At this point people were pretty complacent thinking nothing's going to happen anytime soon it's fine like it's a dormant volcano for all intents and purposes until we get to the spring of nineteen eighty. Okay. So, there were several small earthquakes beginning on March fifteenth of that year indicating that magma may have begun moving below the volcano also just as an f. y. we talked about natural disasters on episode sixty one which was called here I am rock. You like a hurricane I talked a little bit about that about volcanoes in that episode. So if you want to refresh your memory about the basics of what's in a volcano check that out episode sixty one, it's very good. Thank you. So on March Twentieth Three Forty Five PM Pacific Standard Time, which everything will be NPS T. Shallow magnitude four point two earthquake centered below the volcano's north flank signal the volcanoes return from one hundred, twenty three years of hibernation. A gradually building earthquake swarm saturated area seismographs, and started to climax at about noon on March twenty fifth reaching peak levels in the next two days including an earthquake registering five point one on the Richter scale. A total of one hundred and seventy four shocks of magnitude. Two point six greater were recorded during those two days. That's a lot. Yeah. So geologists in that area are like look is no not a great sign. Initially. There was no direct sign of eruption but small earthquake induced avalanches of snow and ice were reported from aerial observations. So this mountain is shaking and you know stuff is falling off. It's not it's not nothing. At twelve thirty, six PM on March twenty seventh phreatic eruptions which are explosions of steam caused by magma suddenly heating groundwater. So that's like a quick like spur. Of, like Ash and Steam K ejected and smashed rock from within the old summit crater. Excavating a new crater, two, hundred and fifty feet wide. And sending an ass column about seven thousand feet into the air. So you yeah, knock. Great. So by this date along, east trending fracture system had also developed across the summit area. So there's cracks forming in the summit. This was followed by more earthquake swarms in a series of explosions that said ash even higher above there. And most of this ash fell between three and twelve miles from its fendt. But some was carried hundred fifty miles south to bend Oregon or two hundred and eighty five miles east to spokane Washington. So the ash went pretty far and those who were like what the What is happening here? So? then. A second new crater and a blue flame were observed on March twenty ninth.

"We head to the Pacific northwest to understand the obstacles that confront these endangered orcas and how researchers are using artificial intelligence to help orcas and humans to coexist. WHAT HAPPENED TO J thirty five or Tala wasn't an anomaly the southern resident cavs have been struggling to survive for some time they've been listed as endangered in both the US and Canada since the mid arts. But their numbers continue to fall in two, thousand five there were eight. Now there are just seventy two in the wild one lives in captivity. Their home waters in the sailor, see an elaborate network of channels that span the coasts of Seattle Vancouver from Olympia Washington in the south to the middle of Vancouver Island British Columbia in the north. The see encompasses puget sound the Strait of Georgia and the Strait of Juan De. FUCA. Much of it is rich in natural beauty and teeming with wildlife with rural shorelines backlit by tall evergreens and craggy. Hills. It's a magnet for nature lovers who crave inactive lifestyle, but the Pacific northwest has been getting crowded these paths few decades with people competing for space with the local wildlife as of two thousand twenty. Washington's population was nearly eight million and Vancouver's topped out at about two and a half million and is projected to grow. It's become a busy place. So you see things like Bald Eagles nesting next to satellite dishes in busy parking lots. Big. Ravens Beg for food next to cold press coffeeshops commuters hop on ferry boats here like people in other towns take the train or the car. On these trips they can sometimes spot the southern resident orcas milling about but a lot of the time the orchestra framed by ferry boats or container ships. The area's ports are growing along with the population. In twenty eighteen Porta Vancouver ship activity reached a record high and the port is undergoing numerous expansions. Increased. Commercial ship traffic on top of recreational boat activity is one of the biggest threats facing the whales that live here. This traffic causes numerous problems ships pollute the water, and they're loud under the waves. As we're about to find out the ocean is getting crowded and noisy, and it's negatively impacting the whales. Dr Lance Barrett Lennard is the director of the Marine Mammal Research Program at the Vancouver Aquarium. There's also a lot of heavy vessel traffic that comes in some of the going to the port of Vancouver some of the going to the port of Seattle unfortunately both both major west coast ports. have their roots running through. Southern Resident Critical Habitat. But the obvious problem he says is that more boats increase the chances that Wales will get hit. especially, if the boats are going fast. Whale is far less likely to be hit by ship that's running slow, and if it's running less than ten knots, a good chance to survive even if it is hit, that's just the facts. So regulators started issuing slowdown directives, it few areas these slowdowns are mandatory, but in the Pacific northwest or the orcas live, they remain mostly voluntary. Mariner say they want to avoid the ORCAS but there are business conflicts John? Berg. Is With Pacific, Merchant Shipping Association a Trade Group that represents about thirty shipping lines that do business along the Pacific coast. For a lot of ships. Schedule Integrity. Is. Paramount. and. So they need to be at a certain port at a certain day in a certain time. And so planning is essential especially since coming in late can mean higher fees and lost revenue. Mariners go back and forth about how quiet ships they talk about things like reducing noise by finding optimum speed or by retrofitting or upgrading vessels with more efficient quieter parts. They even say that in some cases slower vessels. Moore of Iraq. Now to researchers, this is a settled question, the faster ship the louder the ship. And it's the noise that is even more detrimental to the ORCAS than ship. Strikes. The underwater cacophony is mostly generated by ship's propeller. It releases vapor filled bubbles. ORCAS like all CETACEANS rely on echo location to communicate, made and find food. For ORCAS, it's how they find salmon as the ORCAS chase salmon they make clicking sounds that they send out into the ocean. The click then bounces off of the salmon and creates an echo, and that's how they know where the salmon are underwater noise pollution specialist. Dr Lindy Wildcard is an adjunct research associate at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada. CETACEANS are particularly vocal of the US sounds to find their prey actively using bio sonar. And the various noise sources that humans put into the ocean can affect. Wales and that they are masked, that is the sounds of interests are obliterated by by US adding this sort of acoustics smog of of noise so they can't hear as well. You can actually hear the masking that wildcard is talking about listen to this underwater recording of northern resident orcas who have different dialects from their neighbors, the southern resident or is this recording was provided by Orca lab a nonprofit research center based on Hanson Island near British. Columbia. Canada. Those. SQUEALS ARE ORCA calls. Here's what happens if you overlay their calls with recording of the ship underwater. It drowns out the ORCAS squeals. All you hear is ship noise. That's because the sound created by the ship is at the same high frequency ranges the ORCAS. It's kind of like being at a dinner party where people are talking over each other. But for the ORCAS, the increased sound means they'll lose their seat at the table. If the ORCAS can't hear themselves they can't hear the seminar and so they can't find food. And that can have far reaching impacts that affect the entire population. Their stress hormones can increase. with, noise with the seismic Airgun sounds they also reduce their vocalisations to the point of sometimes falling outright silent, which means they can't communicate with each other and that probably affects mating. If mayors could know where the ORCAS are. They could try to avoid that part of the ocean or at least slow down. So their engine noise doesn't drown the ORCAS OUT Ideally. They'd only have to go slow when the orcas were in the area, but it can be hard for ship captains to confirm where the whales are in fog rain or even under normal circumstances ship captains can't always see them they often miss them. So some conservationists along with the Canadian government installed underwater hydrophones in the Salish Sea along the coast of British Columbia near known ORCA HABITAT, they wanted to be able to track the ORCAS through their echo location calls. But remember how it works. Sound was drowned out by the ship's well, it's not just hard for the orchestra here. It's hard for the humans to. It can take people a long time to listen to all those recordings figuring out what is well sound, and what is this ship fish or other marine life sounds the orcas make noise at all hours of the day and night, and all of that sound even that record overnight has to be listened to by someone. Up. Next. How artificial intelligence can help speed this process up? And maybe find a solution for both the ships and the whales.

"Washington state and southern Vancouver Island are home to a distinct population of killer whales called the southern resident orcas. Black. On top with contrasting white I and saddle patches each has its own distinctive markings. From may through October tourists flock to this region to see the southern residents revered for their social nature and strong family ties offspring remain with their mothers for all of their adult lives. But, lately, those lives are being cut short. cavs are dying before they're born or shortly afterwards. The plight of one mother Orca and her calf captured global media attention a few summers ago. Marine biologists are keeping a close eye on an endangered Orca off the waters around the southern Gulf islands. Named Talla J. Thirty five to researchers her calf lived only about thirty minutes but instead of letting it fall to the ocean floor Tala carried the dead calf pushing it around with her nose for an unprecedented amount of time and hundreds of miles researchers say the whales are known to grieve, but never for this many days Orca known as j thirty five is still carrying her baby seventeen days. Later, the mother is going through a deep grieving process, but since then the mother has been getting weaker and weaker as choice to carry, it's dead offspring above the water assigned, she may be experiencing difficult and complex emotions not so unlike our own. Scientists believe calf died of starvation. The incident was well documented by researchers like Paul Cotterell with the Department of fisheries and Oceans Canada. I was out for the whole two weeks and it was very very emotional to see. Just, that bond and hell mum was just so they're reluctant to to let go of the calf. Cattrall knows these whales well, he and other researchers have been closely documenting all three southern resident family pods known as J K and L. The DFO for twenty, three years these animals are photographed in did. All of them every year. So we know. All the animals and we also know. When calves are born and went animals die. So this population is a very well studied in very well understood. Researchers know that the ORCA food supply Chinook salmon is becoming smaller in size and there are fewer salmon being born mostly because of overfishing. And the wheels are having more trouble finding the salmon that is still around because of a dramatic increase in ship traffic in this area. Perhaps, the biggest challenge, these marine mammals face. From The Wall Street? Journal. This is the future of everything. I'm Janet. Baben today on the podcast. We head to the Pacific northwest to understand the obstacles that confront these endangered orcas and how researchers are using artificial intelligence to help orcas and humans to coexist. another another former former democratic democratic presidential presidential candidate candidate is is endorsing endorsing Joe Joe Biden Biden in a video on Twitter California senator Kamilla Harris threw her support behind the former vice president saying quote I believe in joke we need a leader who really does care about the people and who can therefore unify the people and I believe Joe can do that and with us right now was ABC news political analyst Steve Roberts Steve what a difference a week makes it did you anticipate Joe Biden picking up this mode the momentum this quickly no I have not I don't think anybody did I I think what we're what we're seeing though is a fascinating phenomena based on one word and that word is fear it's fear of Donald Trump and fear of Bernie Sanders Joe Biden has not been reborn as some useful charismatics move talking energetic candidates Joe Biden today is still the same Joe Biden that people have a lot of doubts about two weeks ago two months ago two years ago the difference is that Democrats have so desperate so frantic to find somebody who can beat Donald Trump that they decided that day either as a group and individually as voters and as candidates they'll camel Harris being an example of of having to rally around somebody and then choosing between Biden and Sanders the fear of Bernie Sanders is pulling the party too far to the left so there's a lot of energy around the Biden candidacy right now but in my view it's largely negative energy it's driven by fear it's driven by desperation there are not a lot of Democrats even this morning jumping up and down in Saint Joe Biden's gonna be a great candidate a great president but this negative energy is very powerful and that's what's driving this trend do you think it's now his to lose or is it too early to say that definitely has to lose end up and I think it's gonna be very difficult for Bernie Sanders to rebound here the one variable of course the one no wild card is by himself as I say he has not been report he's still the guy who can show astounding lapses of judgment he's still the guy who could make gaffes he's still the guy who can show his age very clearly he's still the guy who can appear fumbling and uncertain and in debates with Bernie Sanders and interviews it's still entirely possible for him to make damaging mistakes I think a lot of Democrats even if they rally around by they're holding their breath and hoping that Biden will get its act together and I've seen some signs a few signs of Byton improving on the stop I think he's shown a little bit more energy I think the campaign line about I'm the candidate of those who have been left behind it counted out is a defective and powerful line really echoes of a bill to written of nineteen ninety two the comeback kid although Biden's hardly a kid he's more the comeback teaser than the comeback kid and also this line of of of appealing to the concepts of dignity and civility and normalcy I think they provide a fairly stark contrast to the president who's in the oval office now but Biden is still Biden it was all of his flaws but at this point he's the Democrats best hope and it's gonna be very difficult for Sanders to capture Steve thanks for your thoughts again this morning ABC news political analyst Steve Roberts it's also worth noting that this morning one of the former Indigenous legislation update

"South Dakota is a hotbed of proposed right. Now that could affect a number of states Native residents from banning offensive mascots to boosting native voices and policy decisions proposals have both beneficial and detrimental potential to tribal citizens. One bill from the governor's office defines what a riot is and pushes for violators to be charged with a felony. The bill replaces previous legislation. That was dean largely unconstitutional. It comes as the state prepares for construction of the Keystone Excel pipeline. Won't get an update on this. Another bill provides funds for community schools with the native culture focus. And we've got a state senator from South Dakota Phillips in on what he's working on and we're also GonNa talk about national legislation that aims to change important tax policy. And we'd like to hear from you give us a call. If there's a particular piece of legislation you are keeping an eye on the number to join us is one eight hundred nine six two eight four eight today. We're GONNA start off in Olympia Washington With us today is Senator John McCoy he is a Washington state. Senator Representing District. Thirty eight and he is. Tulalip our pleasure to have him here today. Senator McCoy. Welcome thank you. I'm happy to be on the show. Well Senator McCoy you're here to tell us about Senate resolution eighty seven three. It has to do with boring schools. tell me a little bit about that. End Of course an update on some of the legislation. You're working on okay. The boarding school resolution Was brought to you by one of the staff. One of the native American staff and so I head or begin with the you know with the first draft and then we have other native American on staff and Of which was a collaboration going through and developing that He's legislation and then Me As the member than I introduced it and We heard it on March second and We had a number of folks from tribes near here and we did have one elder that That was at a boarding school so she was Quite pleased at resolution in so when issues like this are being addressed through legislation. What kind of message does it send out to the community? Think well to begin with I've introduced quite a bit of legislation around k. Twelve schools in one of those is a group of curricula On since time immemorial and this is giving the A truer picture of Tribes here in the state of Washington and Those are being integrated into the social studies. of Washington state. Because we have twenty nine tried and so There's a lot of misconception about tribes and so This is one way of helping reduce that and getting the factual information out so I have a number of bills that that are working to their The majority of what I need. It are done Now it's changing. Some of that that was permissive. In the beginning I now need to make it mandatory. So that's the process that I'm going through right now. We know a lot of work goes into holding these positions in bringing issues to the fore and in especially giving a better understanding and so Senate McCoy. Is there anything else you'd like to give us an update with before we let you go? Yeah Quickly This week We will be Passing a tribal tax bill and I found it interesting that the US Congress is bringing that subject that today or are yesterday That anyway That's another one that time has come. That needs to be done. Well I appreciate you spending your time with us today. We she well as you continue to work for your community. Maybe Senator McCoy is one of your senators There's an update on some of the things he's working on Maybe you are keeping close attention to certain Body of legislation of it is moving through the system. That may affect. Maybe even your own family. If you'd like to share some thoughts on where things stand right now or ones that you want to put on folks radar go ahead and call in one eight hundred nine six. Two four eight is a number. Thank you senator. John McCoy for joining us today. We now skip over to Pierre. South Dakota on the line is troy. Hind Heiner D- He is a state. Senator Representing District Twenty Six and he is Rosebud Sioux our pleasure to have him here. Senator Welcome. Thank you for having me in. So we're going to keep this momentum going tells a little bit About I guess let's start with SB sixty six To provide for the creation funding of Ojt chicagoly community based schools. Tell me more well in this This bill really came into design Last summer I was approached by a group out of rapid city that they just wanted to see a different avenue for native kids in our state. we're losing far too many of them Out of our traditional school model and they said we want to try something different so we worked through. This process got to the legislative session drafted a bill changed it numerous times. We we were able to gain governor support and by the time it hit the Senate floor I it came off the Senate floor. I was a thirty five to zero. Vote something I had I didn't expect in was pleasantly surprised with And it it works with the local public district and that was important to me as a former public schoolteacher. I wanted to make sure that the public schools still had the opportunity to be involved in this in this process. unfortunately It had its house hearing this morning and there were Individuals came in and and offered some testimony that kind of muddy the water And it it's failed in committee but we do have a plan To maybe resurrect Senate bill sixty six and hopefully get it hurt on the House floor and and regain its momentum that it had coming out of the Senate in sometime. Senator when something like this happens It is also time to maybe retool or even bring the need of the story Ford more in so understand how you see. This isn't a setback. A lot of this is also about educating communities or fellow Congressional folks about you know our native nations and our needs and so We're really interested in hearing some of the other things that you're working on to You're also sponsoring a bill to create a commission on Indian affairs. Go ahead and tell us about that. So you know in South Dakota we. We've done a few things. Throughout the years. Last year we we passed Indigenous language veal indigenous language of South Dakota with our our nine tribes So we're working at educating my colleagues on on native issues and the importance of them They I mean affairs commissioned it was really designed to be another Educational Tool For the State of South Dakota you know we do have the office of state travel relations. But that's really about you know And that's a governor appointed position. So that's really about the governor trying to reach out to the nine sovereign nations and South Dakota this. This commission would would be a place where we can talk about either the coming session and legislation that is needed or relationships between Towns and cities and Native people of South Dakota. It's just another sounding board. That hopefully could be used To increase the knowledge base of our. You know South Dakota friends and neighbors as well as a place where native people felt like their voices are being heard

"In Olympia Washington hello Karen he I'm great how are you she out you know I thought on the apple yes yes teacher can make this sleek high alert alarm where if something new set that for you in the street heart stopped automatically send checks to your personal good idea yeah call your friends make sure they're okay that's a good idea I like kids let's call apple we'll call it will say you got to do that that you know apple it has I think apple apple realized about the watch when I first came out it kind of was scatter shot did this did that they really pushed apple pay you know paying with a watch but I think they realized pretty quickly and they've really double down on it that health is the number one reason health and fitness is why would people where the apple watch to help them exercise helps keep track to check their heart to just you know and it's turned out I mean I cannot live without it now and I was I mocked it for a long time I said is done nobody should buy an apple watch and now I I you know I just that's the only watch aware it's not the most attractive watch ever this kind of clunky and big but it's so functional of course you have to have an iPhone that's the only downside check the people in the boat people chat rooms and when is it gonna be a better android watch or maybe apple make your friend right I don't know no I think they want you to buy I phones I think I see I so Karen you want to ask about your router yeah okay so remember an amateur and I'm learning something but an earlier I alluded watching one of your older videos from several years ago about flashing firmware yeah yeah yeah that was really interest you want to do that no in not idealistic hi I have a really nice so bored cable modem router in a box in the closet and I'm using eighty inexpensive action packed either with my eight broadband provider are you a you must be Verizon then century CenturyLink okay is is fiber or is it cable the actiontec routers pretty common I. S. P. router and usually not the best thing in in the world now you should check with CenturyLink to see if they'll support the heiress they probably will almost everybody does that's the that's kind of the most common cable modem out there so you should check make sure it's compatible album is so flashing your firm where you flash your firm where all the time you just don't know it you're a firmware flasher going way back any time you update the bios on a computer or you do a major phone update in many cases you're flashing the firmware all that means firmware is you know your your hardware has three kinds of data storage you know hard drive or or flash memory is kind of like that's where you put the files the programs your music your photos your data there's also ram you know the memory that that Dick stuff gets loaded into so it's it's a lot faster so when the computer is working with the photo Frances he'll take it off the the the storage and put it in the ram memory so can work with it easily but there's a third kind of storage it we don't normally talk about play with its called firmware it's not soft it's not hard it's firm and firm it means that it can be modified but is this not modified often it's not as quickly and easily modified as a hard drive he requires a lecture steps so if you ever update the bios on your computer for instance that's firmware that senior this not stored on the hard drive it's not stored in memory stored in a special chip this programmable but not designed to be constantly written to same thing on your phone your operating system is often in firmware at least parts of it are so it's not a big deal to to update when you anytime you update your your router your your modify the firmware but what you're talking about is instead of using the company's provided update or provided firmware using a third party firmware and honestly they're very good but they are limited in the number of Mme routers all support so there's there's the the one I recommend is D. D. W. R. T. that's probably the one you're talking about we've talked in the past about tomato I don't think tomatoes being kept up to date if you go to DD dash W. R. T. dot com you'll see where you can download it but more before you even do that you'll also see a router database to see if it's compatible so you're gonna search for your router that you want to modify and see if you could put DD WRT on it and I'll give you the bad news most routers you cannot has to be certain chipset a certain ship cetera et cetera et cetera so if you really want to do that what I would do is is figure out what routers the best for DD WRT and get that I often recommend asus routers because they use their own version of DD WRT the called a suse W. R. T. which is based on the deputy why would you want to use that instead of the company's firmware well it's because it's open source it's kept up to date he often has many more features can do a lot more things in general you're better off with the D. W. R. T. just because it's you know browser companies don't make a lot of money on routers they don't spend a lot time keeping up to date they often don't push out new firmware when they really ought to routers are one of the most in secure devices in your house so I don't know if you're Eris will work with the D. W. R. T. you'll have to look it up first but if it does and there are many that do it's a fun thing to do but I gotta warn you as I'm sure I did on that video yes she is always a risk that you'll do some wrong or something will go wrong not even on your fault and it will you break it it turned into a useless piece of hardware I want you to do that like you did how do you become a geek if you don't break a few things right yeah there is on her way to geek term affect I think your are there videos on.

"Welcome back for those just joining us we had an earthquake overnight he just before three AM so we are in some early coverage for you bill still from the university of Washington seismology lab is joining us now live on the phone and bill what you know so far what is the size allowed tracking there this morning well about two fifty one AM we had a magnitude four point six earthquake that occurred to him your average Marysville and it was mid crustal about two twenty two point three kilometers and it was felt everywhere from Vancouver BC down to Olympia Washington this is far away actually shocked about and with that she on the east side so it was felt pretty strongly in the strongest intensity it is about intensity five that was experienced more hold and bill so far we have had at least two after shocks can we expect more this morning there will be more in fact we're in the process of processing some of those smaller one so there's a bit of catching up to do after an earthquake like this would be smaller to process them but their we're working on that you'll see those through the night and all four point six what level of damage does that cause or what can people expect to see around their house what do we need to know about that that number well when you get up around them and live five modified Mercalli scale of five you experience moderate shaking I mean but certainly you definitely know things are shaking something that might be teetering on a shelf life fall over but we wouldn't expect a structural damage really when you get up around the intensity seven MM you seven you start seeing some structural damage to the weaker structures in bill you talked about the depth of this earthquake in a lot of people talk about in the squalid cake that quake back in two thousand one was about one thirty miles deep and that caused damage just kind of talk about what is the importance of the depth of the earthquake in and how much we feel it what what what how does that play a role in in an earthquake it's a great question when you get down in the deeper in the crust of the energy doesn't dissipate rapidly when it's down deep but when you get up near the surface the the they're more faults and cracks in the credits that will kind of break up it dissipates some of the energy so it doesn't travel as far let's why we we we see from British Columbia you know all the way down it will it be out to win actually people feeling this earthquake in part because it was a little bit deeper if it was shallower he would feel it more intensely where you're standing near the fall but we wouldn't spread out as far and bill and I hope that does that does is this could be a sign of things to calm I know we always talk about it's not a matter of if but yeah right and well you know we've been very lucky we haven't had magnitude five earthquakes for a number of years she made definitely each of that size and larger our in our future there is a very small chance and it's a very small one but that when you have an earthquake sequence like this going on that you may end up triggering a larger earthquake and then this magnitude four six becomes a four shot to that larger he planned but that's a pretty rare occurrence but it does happen okay thank you very much bill still join in this early this morning from the Pacific cut the northwest a seismic network once again a four point six earthquake hitting around two fifty one this morning centered around the three lakes area started as a four point seven on a four point four and then once again upgraded back up to four point six so for a couple of aftershocks and bill telling us in warning us that expected feel more after shocks coming this morning yeah and really being felt all over from Vancouver BC to Olympia Washington that all the way east even to yeah come on and not Wenatchee area so really a wide ranging feel of this earthquake but you know what the bill also mention that when it comes to intensity you know we'll see some shaking it maybe a few things falling over at that level five intensity but it's really not so intensely seven when things start causing major problems with structural damage the definitely jolting a lot of people up this morning good morning to be prepared because once again they say it's not there but when the big

Gabby Gaelic hard refuses to vaccinate her youngest child. She says it's because her middle child suffered significant behavioral and physical reactions after being vaccinated, including severe eczema in food allergies. If I could go back, I wouldn't have vaccinated any of my kids. According to the CDC most people who get the vaccine do not have any serious health problems. The agency also says for every one thousand children who get the measles one or two will die from it. The benefits of the vaccine greatly outweigh the

"Five seventeen seventy six john in olympia washington you're on the medved show hello mike estimated lay ear your forever yesterday's you know a a lot of people went and so is fantastically fourth and fiction movie and and you just do something no faith adding that uh that thing about that said it was funny you talk about it being a infests and murder and and all these horrors thing that that people since subject them to but don't seem bring fair in the tora in the koran and the bible even komitch rich were terrible if them nobody will and people celebrate that every way way chronic way i'm sorry when you say ritualistic cannabilism you're talking about the eucharist you're talking about holy communion cracker hawaiian and thinking it through blood and body reminder medium some guy be okay well no there's actually some pretty compelling writing and i would said i recommend that you check out cs lewis or any number of people to talk a little bit about what communion really means to people but he here is my point about stephen king and i think that this is this is one of those areas where it connects he clearly has a fascination with the demonic he believes in the supernatural and earth italy's teak conjures up a world again and again and again and again in which the supernatural is a very big factor but to the best of my knowledge and i do claim to be a complete comprehensive expert on the epic work of stephen king but his world it's almost always supernatural demon anc satanic horrible disgusting it's not like the exorcist in the exorcist which i think is the best horror movie just about ever made 'cause it it shows a struggle of good versus there are good supernatural forces where are the good supernatural forces and stephen king in other words the id here is the only good is the friendship among these thirteen year old friends the losers club the six guys in the one girl and their friendship is supposed to overcome but if you believe in supernatural stuff what sense does it make to only believe in the negative stuff and that then dispense with the idea of a god and with what he's talking about about the material he'll in the bible and.
