"I got on it I was told quote. It's not that hot. He wants to get paid a lot. I! Never say never anything can happen There's been re recently obviously cloudy. He's not getting what he wants. He's always get paid the first couple of days and he didn't. And, now it's you know right before training camp three weeks exactly. So, you know he's going to get a smaller deal. Obviously, try to get a bigger deal for probably be a one or two year deal. Try to cash in next year. Who is a teams interested well I mean it's rumored Seattle who played with last year. and Cleveland in Cleveland just. A redid a deal for Olivier Vernon. And there's reports that they would probably take him out of them out of the clowney talks. So maybe there's just one head of the raiders now. Now, SEATTLE, say Seattle. Cloudy so now maybe cloudy. His only option is the raiders. So you know they're not. They're not out of this thing. you know they're gonNA. have to make some room. You know a lot of fans. They won't cut Eric. Harris Cut Peterman cut Nicholas Moro You. Know carrier. Yeah, I mean you're going. GonNa have to cut some guys. Gave Jackson, no, because it guarantees contracts guaranteed if you cut him, you're eating nine point six. So you can't do that. but you know I think. They can do wonders wills away, but again I don't think he's the missing link. He's very nice player. Other see some people say oh, well now that they're talking about cloudy. That means they don't like Clinton Farrell. No I wouldn't say that either because. I wanted to year guy. And fairly still young the thing I like most.

"Olivier Vernon a giant is the best of friends again all that kind of. No, it's over. It's like this is your contract is don't tell anybody till tomorrow. Like, fine, whatever whatever can't can't can't speak to that. But the rumors wouldn't be wrong. If you said, right? I can't confirm or deny. Yes. Yes. So please call back to comic tomorrow tomorrow at two o'clock, four o'clock to be saved. Just give me a call. That's the way it works. That's the waco's. That's pretty good pay day for Landon Collins, by the way, good Lord. How much guarantee forty forty five forty five. If you're a bust, you got a big old truck Trucco money that just drive off. I tried with the. Nick foles got fifty guarantee. Landon colleague is Forty-five. Yeah. Yeah. I knew somebody was going to gobble of cows. But now with that kind of money, that's very surprised. Michael Thomas, Washington. They don't know what that that is fair. So Doug Williams coming back soon. Gang bag one last shot. Joe theismann? Yeah. Right. He'll give racing cars. He's not interested. But, but that's you know, that's. It's bad that he went to the to the Redskins. But it's but it's the Redskins. He's the missing piece or anything like that. Yeah. I understand. Remains to be seen. Maybe they'll just keep on making moves and strike gold. Somehow probably the goal. What about what about the little Bill, James Dolan and his? Yeah. You know? I gotta be honest. I'm so sick of hearing about James till I agree. I agree. It's so if he just keeps walking there is no story. There's nothing. But now he's gonna make a big deal out of this. And. Well, you know, I'm like, I'm the one guy who always sees the other person's point you, and I could kind of see him sitting there and watching his team lose yet another game. It's his frustrations. Like the last thing I need is some schmo coming over and saying something that ticks me off. So I I understand his reaction. Honestly, I'm not saying I'm not saying it's the right thing to do. But you know, it is understandable where humans I mean? I don't know if you saw tonight Russell Westbrook. The Utah was just a in a verbal altercation with a with a fan. And supposedly threatened to I'll try to clean it up a little bit. So to mess him up and his wife, by the way. Yeah. So. Now, that's not too cool either. He's saying it was racial. The guy said wasn't. Snow? We'll never know. Unless somebody was miked up nearby. I'm so some somebody's cell phone was was rolling. It's funny. When I go to I go to fights. And and the guy makes the walkout and people film as he just walked by for five seconds. What are you going to do this this it ain't going to TMZ? But this is what you have you have a folder of celebrity walked by going to fight it all together with the music. I don't get it. But that's somebody's always got kind of phone like, they even the thing with dole. I mean, you gotta give people credit now because they don't shake. Got it frame. Perfect. The sound is good. They finally starting to learn that the the format for television is why the turn. Fever all learning now with everybody. Everybody says it'll be the mill they gotta. James is back on again. Okay rolling. That's true. Yeah. Just keep walking you walk. Sunday fella team can't build it. Oh, it's no question about it. Like it's to go in sections. No question at all. And what if you'll be there the strong enough to be there? Good point. I'm going to guess. No, no. He'll be busy with his voice doesn't matter because they'll be there at the next game. And then they'll do it. Let's just ride out the season not show up anymore. Oh, Bob Hope all is forgiven by. What what are we talking about? I can't remember added James. How are you know? No, no. It is his house have to point that out. No, it is it is. But it wasn't rude would have been a curse word, but this fellow team. Look again, I'm going to be old school. I think that's rude. I really do. I think it's rude. I mean, you know, you have some respect for for the guy who owns your team. I mean, not that he's warranted respect, but have it. Anyway, be the bigger person here. That's that's my take on it. I know I'm the only person on this entire radio station to say that. But there you have it. I think so thank you by yourself. I think I understand that. You say it could have been I imagine. If I I could understand that perfectly. You just get him out of it. But I don't I don't sell the team. So as an opinion. No, no, I'm not I think he walking that's all hopefully. I have gone some show talking about it. I guess who fan. No. Maybe maybe Dolan. Yeah. What would that be like? Before this plane is clear the air. Yeah. Why not present his side of the story. Yeah. What was really going on? And why was upset play himself because you're not gonna talk to anybody else. We'll talk to the daily news. That's for sure. Yeah. Somehow, I have a feeling he's not going to be addressing this whole bit whatever he's going to say has been said at this point. Somewhere. Barry Watkins is smiling. Retired Charles Oakley waited. Also that was stepdaughter. I mean, you knew oak was was not going to pass up that up now. And by the way, I was watching MLB network yesterday and Matt Harvey with fitting, and when pretty was I think one of the third down. Why aren't a third five four runs all while picks at an era? Great well, just spring training. Tried to pick off the guy at seconded twirl the ball just sale right into the outfield. Oh, okay. But he played through like, thirty two pictures. I take it win the first inning dot good. But we'll see I I don't I'll be surprised if he is anything more than a five hundred pictures back in the bullpen. Now. A guy who fell off a lotta pictures like they just got the pitch count up. And now with it. Jason Vargas, so far so good for the Mets Sesa did good. He did good who force out the other day. Also. That's yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Mats Vargas could pitch. Well. Yup. Yup. Stay healthy again and McNeil. Now, we could agree. They at third base for now. How long jed Lowrie takes to get better. The passing of a guy who I've always been huge fan of the great drummer, Hal, Blaine ninety years old. Thank God bless him. I had a heck of a run. But he was he was the main member probably to me of the wrecking crew, the famous LA studio musicians. He I forget what the number is something like he played on forty number ones. And then, you know, like if you count top ten songs, it's literally in the hundreds, but you know from. The beach boys good vibrations. Simon and Garfunkel bridge over troubled water MacArthur park by Richard Harris, all the fifth dimension stuff. Macquarie's let the sunshine in up up up in the way, and it goes on and on he he he was the drummer on all of those mass on. So that's why resume ninety s I you said, God bless them. Nice nice run. And actually he was the guy. He he really his claim to fame was, you know, the, let's be my baby and it starts off with. Yeah. That's it. That's it. That's all you got go Google. Okay. Good. Okay. It's funny. How all those like in the sixty the funk brothers. They all had some. My sound. This is new to selling was in. It's all about serving the song. And they knew I mean, they got paid. Well, you know, it's like, and and the good thing is this was all union work. So every session they did every name of who played what is listed on there. And you now have a record. So you can kind of go back, and there's still some disputes know, they'll be a little. Oh, no. That wasn't him. That was me. Right. But by and large playing that's good. Sometimes you don't even know that no idea, and they don't get paid. That is true. Let's go to JR in Philly. JR you're on the fan. All right. How you doing? We're going to talk about drummers quickly bring up. The Rolling Stones are gonna do a worldwide tour which involves thinking like eighty ninety nights or something like that. Charlie watts. I think is almost eight years old. I'm just gonna say how you doing? They're doing a year for everybody's age or something like that. That's a lot of guys have been around for a while. I guess I mean, it's impressive that someone that age. Was a tour like that. Yeah. I mean, you're looking for like a substitute drummer at some point. But this is part of the band was gonna do. Charlie weis is probably best known for the fact that he has Arabian horses. We let them wander ended his house actually can to me now. Oh, really on. That's gotta be. You know, it speaks to say idiots in Christie. Just briefly bring up the giants. Sure. I probably made this point before in the show. But you know, the Tino was unreachable near show this past Saturday in a news talking about the fact that he didn't think the giants take a quarterback at all in the draft. You probably won't go Rosen. But I don't think they should Rosen personally. And then he was suggesting he said, well, maybe this year, they just leave everything seem. Backup guy Richmond. And then following year draft a quarterback on the guy Sikri year. And you I would be quarterback at yet another year. I mean, they're eight to twenty four in the last two years, and I don't understand why at the very least they wouldn't crap. The quarterback of the second round going to be someone available at least potentially be better up through the abbot. It does work out. They could try to trade up and get the Dikembe Alabama here. It just makes no sense to me. This spinning wheels. One of the best brokers sports, and yet they really are seemingly dedicated to a plan of complete disarray..

"I'm joined by big blue contributors, Dan position. And Chris Flom also do their own show here on on big blue view radio. And we're here today to to debate the Olivier Vernon for Kevin Zeitler trade big news of of the Friday afternoon for the New York Giants how you guys doing today. Was doing pretty good. Yes. You know? Couldn't couldn't be nice easy Friday as we just ease into the weekend. Could it guys? Now, I taped ball lined up to watch and that got shot to hell. Side trade didn't happen it three thirty in the morning, like one of the other possible trades. Oh, the Tony Brown trade the Antonio Brown trade that wasn't that wasn't. There you go. I woke up to that news this morning to a whole bunch of intone. No Brown has been traded. Whoops. No. He hasn't been traded posts. Have you seen the always remember shirts with the buffalo with eighties, hairstyle, and blond moustache on it? No, those I haven't seen. But it was funny. Yeah. But I'm not surprised somebody's trying to capitalize on that already. So so let's talk about this guys. I mean yesterday, we heard that you know, that it looked like the giants were, you know, moving toward the idea of keeping Vernon in New York. And then today we turn around and all of a sudden we have this trade for for Kevin Zeitler. And and my first reaction to this trade is I really liked this move. I know. No. It leaves the giants with some deep with another defensive hole. But I really liked this move because it upgrades the offensive line. And you look at both free agency in the draft in their both flush with pass rushers. The giants could go out and get to fill Vernon spot. I am of two minds. I like that they're upgrading do offensive line. Cause. Basically anyone with eyes knows they need to. But I'm not sure if the impact will basically match losing their only dependable pass rusher. Before. Libya came back from his injury. They were if we discount their game against the Houston Texans because they were just a fro- shes in pass protection. Just by far the worst league. The giants were averaging three quarters of a sack game. And now they're back to that. Same personnel. Except also minus Landon columns. If Dan I know that you've been big on the fact that the giants pass rush is better. When you look at the advanced stats, you know, then it might appear with just the thirty sacks. Which is I think thirtieth in the league. But. You know this. This does leave a hole on the defensive side. But in some for me, I'm still I'm still of the mind that I feel good about this. You. Yeah. I'm about there. So I've been big on both the podcast and writing on the site that the giants won the the the pass rush was not as bad as the sack numbers. Look they around week average were little better than week average impression rate, which is just more predictive from year to year than just sacree. So I would have expected there sacks to improve next year. But also at the same time, you realize the verdict carried a nineteen and a half million dollar cap hit for this year. A with the giants going over whatever cap constraints. They believe they had with Dell. Mid wanting ten million dollars to save for the regular season, which we can that's a whole nother topic. But it was clear they need to shed something off the top. So if Vernon was going to be the move and getting rid of them getting Kevin Zeitler is pretty much the best case scenario, you could think of I just put out the the top of free agents by position. And I at includes lighter in the interior offensive line just because he was rumored to be moved. And I had him as the second best in interior offensive vitamin they're us so getting hit and getting him at ten billion a year. That's a really good deal..

"By the way, little NFL trade benefited both teams the New York Giants have sent pass rusher. Olivier Vernon to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns need a pass rush. More of one and the giants in return that an offensive lineman. Kevin Zeitler from Cleveland, interior offensive and played at Wisconsin. All American good player really a win win for. Both teams giants interior. Offensive line's not a strength that got better and the Browns. They got they need an pass rusher. They got one Vernon kinda underwhelming in New York. But he has talent us plan Miami. So I mean, the Brown's got what they need not a great player. But a good player. Giants got more of what they need. Good player. Not a great player win win for both teams. Would that we bring in? Stephen Jackson decade and a half in the NBA NBA chant with the Spurs. So the Lakers announced last night minutes restriction on driving to work thinking this morning. I could make an argument just sit him get up into the lottery, it's a lost season. What would you do? If you ran the Lakers. I'm not even going as far as the lottery, I'm just thinking of next year. What you building? Like if it ain't benefits is artificial. Why play him? Now, you're not playing for anything, you know, LeBron's going to do the most important thing for his team. Now is to find out what the other pieces going to do. So you have guys on the team right now that you either use trae pieces are guys is going to be a part of your bench next year. Let these guys play that these young guys play. So you can see who's going to be professional who's gonna finish the year on the right note was to play the right way. And see what guys that you can that you can bring back next to that can help you build for championship. You know, when the Bronco bring whoever you trade for you know, what they're going to bring us these young guys. Give them a time to get experience and be professional and see what you're gonna bring back next year. Do you think he regrets coming to Los Ange? Not at all. You don't you don't break records, and all of a sudden have regrets that just don't happen. You know, he I'm pretty sure he knew the only the only thing. That's that. That's that. That's that. He's saying that. Okay. Now, I realize what it is. He sees the rest of the conference is not a joke. He was he was dominated. He can he can have a bad season and make it to the Eastern Conference finals. You can't do that in the west. You can't do it by yourself. So that's the only thing. That's that's probably surprising him. But everything else he knew it was gonna be hard to get championship. I said Stephen Kobe Bryant always live down in Orange County helicopter, Dan, he never got sucked into the LA thing. The LA Rams players. Many of them live up Thousand Oaks, that's like an hour. Forty five minutes away. Lebron lives right in the heart of agents producers. And when he moved to town, I had somebody kind of around the Lakers circle said, listen billionaires are lining up to have lunch with them. And we saw him with Al Pacino Leonardo DiCaprio that he got sucked in a little like, listen, if you're a gambler, it's one thing to be a gambler. And then moved to Vegas and be a gambler when you're into the Hollywood thing which LeBron is is tipped his toe in the pool then you moved to Beverly Hills. Could I could I argue that he got sucked into the L A thing a little bit. Because I think he looks like a distracted player this year. Well, a lot has went on. And he didn't say credit for you know, with the players in young guys kind of turn their back and not knowing if they're going to come in. And they're playing given up on a team, you know, but the end of the day you can't follow man for building stuff where the basketball. I mean, who wouldn't I I applaud him? I don't I don't I don't think he's everything. He's doing off the court is knocking off his focus from basketball. He's still the best player in the game. When Katie the best players in the game a Greek freak now. But I I think everything he's doing is great, man. I don't think he'd lose focus that what what do you make a char Adam silver came out this week and said at a Sloan MIT conference bunch of smart people. My players are unhappy social media Charles Barkley came out and said, Kyrie irvings the most miserable human being I've ever seen. What do you make of the unhappy guy social media, the new millennial DNA? Well. A lot a lot of guys in the NBA. Now, you know that most guys are more into what the game can do for them and eleven to play the game. Cari loves to play basketball. And we are guys like Cari. Yeah. We know the money's great. And the money's changed our lives. But the game of basketball is the reason. So I played this game. And I show up here at the play this game and beat the best at this game. You got some guys only care about is walking through the tunnel on is e and being seen on the cameras. So the Grossman CMO Aggie. You know, got those time. Then you got those guys they come in the game. Okay. Once I get the contract. I don't even wanna play. I don't even care as long as I can stack this money. That sounds crazy to me. But it's the truth. You played with guys who didn't love the game. That's what. Every every team has at two guys that don't love the game. And I've heard this from guys is playing now and me being outside of league. And I'm hearing and save is now they got young guys that come in knowing work so up the practice late. You know, don't even post the game in a lot of I blame that on a lot of the veterans. Because when I when I was in the league, and I didn't work. I had guys like Steve Steve Nass Steve Smith Danny ferry. Steve Kerr Zach you gotta give him work. Can you gotta get him work? I don't care you're young. You gotta get him work before forces. I couldn't show up late. I wouldn't play. I wasn't even gets has to get on the court about soda late these days these guys can do what they want like Donnie Walsh Carlin. They bonus babies. The getting bonuses and acting like babies when we got a lot of money. I'm happy to getting their mind, and you got a credit. That's LeBron to the Broncos. A is a big reason why a lot of these guys are getting paid guys a six seven man on the bench making ten million a year. 'cause lebron. So you know, he he's he's done a lot of the game. And the reason why I'll give them so much props because he didn't care. It wasn't just about him. He did it for all the guys in the league. I want to go to the top ten all time scoring list. Lebron is now four and I'm going to go through the list, and I'm going to ask you about some of the individual players. So the all time greatest score in NBA. History is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, I'm older. I grew up watching him the most unstoppable shot ever the skyhook between his size the way he shot it and his left hand. It really wasn't indefensible shot about seventy five to eighty percent of his points came from that shot. If I say Karl Malone number to score. Were you a Carl Malone fan not at all why not? We never got Utah games on our feet in Texas. Like, nobody Utah wasn't a big team that nobody wasn't barring Utah jerseys. You didn't see nobody would've Karl Malone. John Stockton serves on raviolis. Nobody knew nothing about Utah. No, I was not a cardinal fan. No game. Didn't do anything for. You know, it wasn't above the round. I think barking was better than Carl Malone. So do I Kobe Bryant. What do you make a Kobe Bryant? Did you love him? The best score ever. He has so much in his in this game. Right. Most moves ever the best scorer ever to me. You guarded them a lot. Yes. How'd it go? I asked him. I had some good some good night's again. But he never gave me fifty and probably gave me forty a couple of times where LeBron is the only player I feel like if he had the attitude Kobe have he could have gave me fifty every night. And I've I've never been given fifty my career. But if the Brian had Kobe attitude he could destroy me. Every Kobe's attitude was a big part of it, relentless. I'm I'm coming at you all game on both ends of the court about eat the guards, you I will. But I'm coming at you all night every night. Let's go to five Michael, Jordan. You didn't face a ton of him. I played him once. One time when he was with the wizards, and he was not nearly as vertical then it wasn't a vertical. But he still was getting a shot off. He still was Michael Jordan every time. He got the by everybody. He's still Michael Jordan. You know what? I mean. I mean, Mike, Mike is my favorite, man. I mean, if I had to put players go Kareem, Jordan Kobe, but Mike is my favorite player of all time. Dirk Nowitzki number seven. What do you make as the best euro ever and the first seven footer who was an elite shooter. Well, he's he's he's one. He's probably the best. Euro ever. But you gotta think go back to jersey that number three veteran. He was a problem. So did you did Dirk didn't do much for ya? Well, I look at a different. I guarded Dirk. I locked up. A lot of times we beat them when they was the number one seat is eight so I don't I look at stuff different when I played against these guys. You see what I'm saying? Dirk is great don't get me wrong. But I stopped Dirk a lot. And I served him a lot. So I'll I'll look at a different drugs a great player. But he wasn't a problem to me, by the way, you played with Tim Duncan not on this list. Doa surprises me to Dunkin but Duncan also played within a system like a Tom Brady. He played with an assist him. It wasn't reliant simply on Dunkin. Although it was a remarkable player. See the best teammate you ever had. I think as far as careers have not going to have the best career of anybody. I play with. He's he's he's the best player I've ever played with by far the best player I've ever play with how much was attitude how much game it was. It was everything leadership. Teammate, leading by example,.

"That's kinda come up recently at big blue view and has come up throughout the two thousand eighteen season and recently during the off season and that is giants defensive end outside linebacker Olivier Vernon in just what kind of player Vernon actually is. This week. Pro football focus is going through its top one hundred one players of two thousand eighteen to this point as I tape this. The PF pro football focus has gone through from number one hundred and one to number fifty Vernon was named number seventy on that list. Really the second honor that Vernon has received this off season as he was also named a first alternate to the Pro Bowl where he as you know, ended up replacing Khalil Mack and actually playing in the game. There's a large segment of the giants fan base that just doesn't understand this love for Vernon. You know from the from the analyst community and from the NFL community itself. They look at Vernon's, you know, massive contract eighty five million dollars over five years. They look at the games. He's missed over the last two seasons. I think he's missed nine games. Total over two years. Both both times due to ankle injuries. They look at the fact that in none of his three seasons with the giants has he accumulated double digit sack totals. And they basically think that Vernon is an overpaid. Under productive player. The reality of it is a live EA Vernon is a very good football player. What he is not and never has been if you look back at his career in Miami. What he never has been is a dominant dynamic pass rusher. A guy who just blows people away off the edge. The way for example, that oh see you manure did for the giants back in his day. Vernon is a good football player. He's probably a guy who's not a number one defensive end. He's probably not a guy who should be the best player on your defensive line. The problem for me is in Vernon really the problem for me. Is that the giants don't have? Or haven't had the dynamic player. You know took pair with Vernon. And I know some people will say, well, they traded away J P P, which they did. And I supported that you know. But you know, when when the giants did have J P P he and Vernon did make a fairly dynamic pair in what the giants really need is someone who to pair with Vernon. This is a guy who he plays the run very, well, he does rush the passer. Well, he doesn't create a lot of sacks in Dan position. Did a thing. Recently at big blue view talking about pressure rates and pointing out that the giants were good at pressuring the quarterback. They just weren't good at actually finishing the play and getting the sack and in a lot of cases. That's the kind of pass rusher that Vernon is he can create havoc. He creates impact. He creates situations where the quarterback has to throw the ball quickly or has to get out of the pocket and move around. Hold the ball a little bit. But Vernon doesn't pile up the huge sack numbers for me. He's probably a number two on your defensive line. Not really a number one. He obviously, you know, as a number two with the kind of production that he's had he makes too much money. But I've said this before that's the situation. The giants were in back in two thousand sixteen they needed defensive players. They needed a quick infusion of proven defensive play makers. Vernon was the best available on the market as far as defensive end who could rush the passer at that point in time, and the giants paid what the price was to get him to come to New York. That's simply is how free agency works. So, you know, I don't know what's going to happen with Vernon. I don't know if he will be back with the giants next season. Obviously, we've talked at big blue view about the fact that if the giants were to make a living Vernon a post June one cut they would save fifteen and a half million dollars off the salary cap. Vernon carries. I believe in nineteen point five million dollar cap hit for the two thousand nineteen season. And that he's an awful awful lot. So we I don't know what's going to happen there..

"Dalvin Thomason was just ended on thirty four percent. They got Josh Moro in the interior at twenty percent, RJ McIntosh. Played twenty percent. Mary Edwards played seventeen percent us. So this is just a line. That's going to be rotating these guys in and out. So they're all going to have a chance to make an impact. I think it's now queer they like BJ hill the most in that scenario, and they're letting him, you know, he's the only one who played more than half the defensive snaps, and he's showing why he has earned that he has really been all over the fields of. For most of the season since he's started to get increased playing time. And now with Damon Harrison gone, I think he is the guy who can take over in that interior. He's been a really good run stuffer. Even though there's all the stats about how the giants run defense has gone downhill, sin tariffs, and left hill is a guy who still making a decent amount of tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage in the run game. And I think he's really the one guy who can create interior pressure right now in the past rush. Mario words can't as well. But right now hill is the best pass rusher. Which I don't think we were thinking we would say back in may. No, I mean back in may, we weren't even sure if VJ hill was new going to get run with the starters. He was impressive in training camp. And he he's made his way up there. And he is a guy who is going to be a part of this defensive line. But if you're. Talking about the the best pass rusher. I still a worthy the Vernon and just a couple of days after I wrote something on big blue view about how Olivier Vernon has more value than just the raw sack numbers because you can't always count on broad sack numbers to be a good measure of what in edge rusher is doing because there's pressure there. And if he's getting to the quarterback that is good. I wrote that about Livia Vernon about how he is still getting to the quarterback. And even though the sax weren't there. They were going to come. And he finished this game with two sacks. And one of which was a strip sack, which is even better at least for this week. No complaints about how burnin played well actually slight complaint on how he played on the edge in the run in run defense. He crashed inside an awful lot. And the bears took advantage of that on some. Either cutbacks or counter runs. I don't know if he was expecting somebody else to be outside of him, and they weren't there. Or if he was misreading the play is a run between the tackles and was overly aggressive. I don't know that without knowing the play call. But that was something a little concerning. I guess we could say, yeah. Isn't that something maybe he was a little too aggressive? But I think I'd rather be a little too aggressive and in the grand scheme of things when you're only giving up to seventy six yards and Jordan Howard. And it's it's not the worst thing in the world. I think they kept the run game slightly controlled. So it's not like his aggressiveness really got them out of hand and being out of position really kill them. But if we're going to bring up some things on the defensive side that did not work. Well, I. I am not sure why the giants continue to think Landon Collins should be put one on one in man coverage against some of these top guys on opposing defenses. We saw it a couple of weeks ago when he was one on one with George Kittle in the San Francisco game and against the bears. He was matched up against Tariq win often. And I'm not sure if there's a play where that went Collins way lose one he he actually stuck with Cohen in man coverage down the field. But it looked like he lost the ball in the air. He the throw was behind Cohen. And I think Collins had a chance to come up with the interception, but he lost the ball as well. Right. Well, that's what that's one of the road. At least. He was there. At one time. He was there. But that was a forty six yard completion. He allowed so at okay, he was there. But that's that's part of the problem. So you go back to the to Alec Otari interceptions..

"And that's it's a it's been a problem for the offense. They've been able to hit more big plays as of late. So it's covered up some of the problems. But when you have when you have a game like this, and they need to have those types of plays. They just they can't convert, but I think for as much as we harp on the authentic, and that's obviously easy to do because it was not great in this game. Or at least not where it should have been a especially from the game plan perspective. But I think we should jump over to the other side of the ball. Because again, the defense was not good and part of why the author. Should have been more aggressive early is because we knew this defense was probably going to give up some plays late, which it did it that's pretty much. What they always do part of. It is the offense gets to spot where they just can't sustain a dry. I've and the defense will get gassed, I suppose even though in this game the eagles and the giants had almost the same replace the giants had sixty two offensive plays. The eagles had sixty five which is really what a defense is expected in condition to be on the field for. But eventually they're just the other team has just going to break through we see it again. And again, and again, and again part of it is because the giants have no pass rush. Even even with Olivier Vernon back. He has been a severe disappointment. And they can't they don't seem to be able to get much in the way of pressure on the quarterback unless they're blitzing and even. It's spotty. And the coverage is the coverage is worse than a cellphone back in nineteen ninety eight. Yeah. I mean, they are working through a lot on that the back end of the secondary. But it's just it's the same things we see over again. And now, I think there's even more stress on that secondary. Because when Collins has been playing more linebacker over the past couple of weeks, he's which for him is not a bad thing himself. So when when you look at that, I don't think that's a bad thing. I like him in. I think now he is playing that money back or role where he is he's lined up like next to Alex Ogle tree on on a lot of these plays now. And I don't think that's a bad thing. I think that's probably where he's best suited. We can disagree on whether may putting him in that position. And having him covers some tight ends one on one is the best use of him. But. I think overall having him in the box is not a bad thing. But now that's putting worst-dress on some of these guys into secondary putting more stress on W web. That's putting more stress on grant Haley who I think did have a pretty good game. He had a tough ask for most of the time on golden Tate into slot. But I think he played pretty well considering Sean Chandler is playing more. And and now that puts that puts couriers Riley in in single high sets of more often, and that as as we know is not a great thing of for the defence a so that puts a lot of stress on that secondary. Especially when they are sending these blitzes ender, not aways getting home it exactly. And I think the problem isn't Landon Collins per se, it's that they don't have the pieces around him to use him at his best, you know, a free safety, and we've talked about this before a free safety is important,.

"I it the one weakness of saying is that you only have eleven men, and if your sentiment sending somebody to rush the passer, he cannot be back and coverage. I mean, that's just physics right there. And so the falcons just identified what area of the field is going to be open and replaced. The Blitzer with the ball that's more or less quarterbacking one a one or at least maybe to a one and also fatigue, Olivier Vernon. His second game back. He played sixty four of sixty five defensive snaps. It was like the last two seasons with Vernon all over again. He never came off the field, right? That's something the giant said they didn't want to do. They said that in the offseason even before Vernon was hurt, they said they wanted to have a good rotation and rotating guys in. But again, we see Vernon as the only real threat and they are scared to take them off the field and succinctly what happened the past couple of years. Connor Arwen only played eight defensive snaps. He was a starter while Vernon was hurt. Gary win, played twenty to carry win a Mario award forty four, which was thirty, seven percent a Kareem. Martin was in there on thirty four, which was fifty, two percent. So I looks like they, they rotated that second position there of, but the didn't rotate Vernon at all. And you know, I understand wanted to keep Vernon on the field because he is your one really good pass rusher, but also meet. You got to try to keep him healthy and if he's not getting anything at the fourth quarter to having him on the fields doesn't matter exactly. It's the same problem. The giants ran into in twenty sixteen in two thousand seventeen. When they had Vernon end Jason Pierre Paul, they just never took them off the field and they were gassed by the time they had to come up with stop at the end of the game, and it was something again when the pass rush, was there early, they had five quarterback hits that kind of feels like they all happened in the first half. They had three sacks. Those all. In the first quarter. I think gel all three of those sacks happened on Atlanta's first two drives. It was the third down on on the first guy that force them to put and then to sax on the second drive, and then they didn't sack Matt Ryan again, will they did have one sack in third quarter by Mario Edwards that was taken off by in Eli, apple defensive hold, so they did get to it didn't count. So maybe we can count that as partial credit. I don't know. But yeah, they were on after him and Atlanta adjusted. There were some please where Atlanta new pressure was going to come. They were expecting it, but they adjusted. They had that a play call to it. Like you said, they would take Witter's and they would throw into it. I remember one place specifically. I wrote about it in my plays that change. The game piece. There was a weight third and eight and they were on their own twenty. It was started the third quarter they went empty on third and eight Edo Smith was wide. So the left in empty formation of the giants sent butchers or Ryan had pressure in his face, but Smith just ran across route. He was Brian was able to get the ball out and Smith had room to run in the middle of the field and they converted for twenty yards. It's something where you use the aggressiveness of the defense against them. You use that pressure against them. It opens up something else in the middle of the field, and you have a running back who's good at catching and running. Being able to catch and run. I know it's not something the giants do very often, but it's something that is allowed. It is at everyone told the giants. This yet the falcons, we'd run in Bill routes out of the backfield that it was some crazy stuff. It was just something where. The falcons were able to find room in the middle of this defense..

"On just throwing at will because the probably can def. This could be a game where we see the giants pass, rush start to get home. Again. It'll be Olivier Vernon. Second game back, you said ten days to kind of rest and recover from that first game back from high ankle sprain and Atlanta is not great at protecting Matt, Ryan. Now they're very pass happy, which means defenses have a lot of opportunities, but he's still taking a fair amount of hits. Atlanta is nineteenth right now in pressure rate allowed on offense. The giants starting to to come alive of whittle bit in the past rush area. I mean, alleviate Vernon definitely added to that against Philly. Right now. The giants are nineteenth in defensive pressure rate. Adding Vernon gives you know someone the opposing offense really needs to take account of. And that should open up some other things. You know in the middle of the line, it'll open up some things for the secondary pass rushers, you know, who were the primary pass rushers in the early part of the season. So we'll see. And yeah, if there is a part where the giants could have an advantage on the defensive side of the ball, it's probably with Vernon and trying to establish that pass rush because the secondary against the wide receivers. And that's not something where you can expect them to hold up and succeed often. So the pass rush is going to have to get home if they have shot. Definitely. And it will be interesting to see how much we see of BJ hill. And Lorenzo Carter when I was looking at ways the giants could kind of slap some duct tape on their defense and maybe make a mid in season improvement. I think playing those guys more. Would be one of the things they should look at. We've seen hill have success maybe a little bit more fits and starts, but he is a much better athlete than his size and usage in college would suggest we saw him get a sack, get a lot of pressure against Houston, both from the defensive tackle position and as defensive end and Renzo Carter, his athleticism just speaks for itself and the giants need to figure out a way to just unleash it. Yeah, all four more BJ hill snaps. However, they can figure out how to do that. Definitely on board for that, he's probably been one of their better defensive players this season, which is not saying too much. Now, if we're being completely honest, but yet that I think that defensive line is going to have to dominate. Eight. I just because if if you're given Matt Ryan time and we've we haven't even mentioned Matt Ryan. He's been really good. I know he's can occasionally be easy to ignore it even though we want an MVP award. But Matt Ryan has been really good. And if if you let him sit back there, he is going to find the right option. He's going to find a big option and that's not the way to stop the offense. So they definitely need to get pressure that that's probably their only chance. I wouldn't be surprised to see James Becher just go all out on the attack, their concerns in the secondary, the outright problem in the middle of the field at the free safety position. Those are not good for a heavy up blitz, heavy defense. But if you're cover, guys aren't going to be successful covering, you might as well send him after the order back in hope that you can rush his process, move him off of his spot, hopefully get him on the ground or somehow force mistake. Yeah, that's going to be the key you. We will definitely see that. I wouldn't be surprised to see the giants be a widow more blitz heavy than they have been already. So I think we can ended there. "Listen a linebacker, Olivier Vernon with an ankle. He could make his season debut on his seventeen million dollar contract good for him. He probably won't be that affective anyway. Although if he gets a sack eagles, Twitter, lose their minds and call for hullabaloo body can. Can we talk about this real quick held boulevards eve? I was like six snaps and gave up a sack like he's responsible. He's responsible for like three pressures in like one like one or two drives. I think it's just one drive. He gave up just just as many pressures from what I saw as Isaac c Ahmad gave up in the first drive in the night, thought Somali played well for the rest of the game. I was actually surprise. I was expecting him to be very bad, so he must have been somewhat impressive for me to swing that way. What about you? Ben let let's get into this Vikings thing here. I know we didn't get a chance to see the twenty two, but this is this is what we're gonna do now. I know you were watching the Olin heavily and you watched a few games back as well. So you have some some kind words for the gentle listeners. So maybe they don't have to freak out about this offense of line as much as they have been. Lately, I appoint object process may be Russ went to southern oriented twenty four teen. All right tore his ACL in his kicking leg in the n. a. championship game miss the twenty fifteen season and the declare for the twenty sixty NFL draft. So forgive me for not knowing who he was. Did he get drafted undrafted and then guess what? So he signs of futures deal with the giants wins the job in twenty seventeen. And then in two thousand seventeen Mike, he had the thirty first. Fuel Golkar conversion percentage end. The worst point after attempt converging percentage eighty seven percent point after attempts and then retained his job for the giants. He's been perfect so far this season, that is a great Cup story. What exactly what? What a, what a tale from littoral no-one on this show too. Now we know just a little bit about him what a great Cup story. Let's okay. Let's talk up lane. Johnson is so good. Yeah, he so good guys, unlike this is the run to of this idea is gonna. The brunt of this discussion around the office of line is simply going to be other teams are allowed to be good, and other players are allowed to be good and they're allowed to win reps. And as we've talked about ball does not bounce Philadelphia's way. So like lane Johnson gave up what is affectionately a strip sack where Margus hunt against the colts came looping around on a stunt and lane pretty handily stopped him. And while Carson was climbing the pocket, he went to make throw wall climbing, which is not the greatest. Decision, but he went for and usually get away with that hunt through his handout and was able to tap the ball right with Carson was going through his motion ball pops into the air. The defensive tackle for the coal swats it out of the air away from Carson Wentz, which I'm relatively certain, wasn't the legal bad. I'm not positive on enter a Basset over the space and Margus hunt lands on it. And it's a key turnover in the in the in the red zone, the cult of short field versus like you said, you know, you'll pay the titans. Derrick Henry muffs a handoff, it lands, Brandon grams. You know, gut, he's not able to corral just like fumble recoveries regress to fifty percent. We know this, they're statistically of coin flip. Sometimes you just get nails three times. So the point there being when you go in, you watch lanes tape or even Jason Peter state, or even Steven was news piece tape, snap in snap out. All three of them were playing at the level. We last saw them. I would say Jason Peters is..
