"AS for 40% off you feel free purchase, Botanic tonics. And you know what? I lost myself a moment ago. I like to be honest. I always thought about being honest or whatever. Sometimes it's less convenient than others. But when I started talking about we are what we are. And I went down and I wrote a little but then I jumped to this. What I was going to use to jump to this was you are what you are. And what I am at the corner of our trainer, I'm a teacher, and I can't help, but want the audience to learn something. And that's that kind of what is connected to a lot of my questions. I want people to get better. I want people to learn something. And that's why I knew I was going to go down that road and there's that question. You know, that you can only ask with an honest guy. Because a lot of guys let their ego get in the way, because she was telling me, don't let your ego get in the way. And it gets in the way and funny ways. But it protection funny ways. Where all of a sudden you say, no, I don't want to admit that I should have went on the floor with them. Because that's admitting that I did some wrong. But by admitting it, you could do some right. And that's why I went that direction. Yeah, I'm not afraid to admit where I where I make mistakes, man. That's part of life. And I'm pretty honest with myself. And I try not to make, you know, try not to make mistakes, but of course we all do. I think I'd love to see you find them again. I don't know. And if you had the choice, can't touched on it a little bit earlier. It does, and if you had to choice between any fights you could get, a fourth fight with McGregor, you know, we understand what goes with that, right? Besides the fight, but everything else that goes with it, the money that the largeness of it, or another shouted to title with Oliveira, which of course it goes with that, too. What would you take? I would take the title fight for sure. That's kind of what I expect you to say. I mean, that's the one thing that is still there for you to get, right? I mean, that's still I still want it. I still want it. Ken asks the same question earlier, would I go to one 70 and take a big money fight or would I fight for the one 55 Bill? If it's at one 70, I would take a money fight because the 55 is still there. But if it's at one 55, I'm not going to do the counter fight. I want to fight for the Bill. I one thing I would love to see the fight and you touched on a little bit earlier. I love to see any of those fights. And I want to see the fight that's best for those support you. But I would love to see you and Chandler. There's a certain intrigue about that because you both sell out. You know, to a certain I think you're a little sell out in a good way. I don't mean sell out in a bad way. So outweigh you in that ring and you both want to take those chances. You want to go for it. You know, you want to walk that tight rope to get there. And to go right into the lion's cage, if that's what it takes. But I think you're a little bit your experience would give you a little edge in that area. Of knowing when to go for it and also want to be a little responsible in certain other areas. He's a secret destroyer missile. And listen, that's why I'd love to see you and have you and fight. No, it'd be a great, it'd be a great fight. Whenever they matched him up with when Chandler and gee got matched up and I saw the fight announced, I knew right away. That's just one of those fights that gets the fans excited. I think the same thing for me and Chandler, if our fight would get announced, it'd be that same kind of vibe. You know, people know what they're going to give us. I mean, that fight became fight of the year, correct? I believe it was. That was a great fight. It was quiet. Oh, I was going to say, I think part of the challenge now is a fight at a fight at one 70s, the big money fight, but I don't see them giving you the next title shot at one 55, so it will most likely be an eliminator at one 55, correct. Yeah, so they offered me an eliminator at the end of the year in October, but I don't want to wait that long to fight. You know? When you think of I don't want to wait that long to play. When you think of the Nate Diaz fight on a scale of one to ten, where does that ring ten being like I want him desperately? What do you think? I'm not desperate for any of these guys, but I definitely I want to fight. I mean desperate in a good way where you feel like that's a big fight that I know I can win and it's going to draw. I know you never. That's another one of those match ups. That's going to draw it's a fun fight. It's a guy I've been watching..
Here is what we know so far about the victims of the Texas school massacre

"Was not only the kick, but how it came about. I'll tell you what I mean by that. If there's a flaw to Chandler, it's a floor we love. He gets too emotional, too hot, he comes out hot like his like a heat seeking missile. And he's got one idea. Go get the guy. And he can get a little reckless. That's the one knock on him. Professionally for himself, that he could get a little anxious a little Cal is a little reckless. And he has. And he's paid a price for it. He shall be another side aside that he's developing, maturing, getting better. From those losses, he learns something. And this is what it was, Ken. And I really appreciate it. Because I always talk about the top guys here that are tough, but the top guys are more, they're smart. They get to cerebral part. That separates them. That separates them from just toughness. And Chandler showed that cerebral part. Where instead of just coming in there with punches, he knew that's what he understood, that's what Ferguson was looking for. So what does he do? He walks in, his arms are down moving a little bit. Ferguson is expecting that. He's got them locked into that. And he throws a perfect front kick right down the middle, nothing wasted. Oh my goodness, right on the shed. It's a bad enough to get hit by a punch on its head, but to get hit by a leg, all my goodness. All my goodness. He had some right on it, but again, we already know you don't need teddy Atlas telling you what happened when that foot landed. We understand that. But teddy Atlas is telling us appreciate the cerebral Ness appreciate the subtle change and development and Chandler after losing two straight fights. He learned something. He was more control when he needed to be in control. He was in reckless, he was just productive, efficient, effective. And dynamic. And he went out there and scored one of the greatest knockouts, you ever going to see. I mean, Ferguson was literally you'd set it already. He was out for minutes for minutes. And that's what I took away from that fight. Look out for mister Chandler. We always knew he was exciting. We always knew he was explosive. We always knew he was a tremendous offensive fighter. We always know he was talented. We always knew he was dangerous. But now he might be putting a whole package together. And that is something to look forward to. Oh, yeah, the physique on Chandler too, my God. He's a genetic freak. He's just like muscles on top of muscles. Also, he lives just down the street here in Nashville, so at some point it'd be fun to have him on the show. But yeah, that's a pretty thorough analysis. I mean, you covered it all there. With that being said, let's segue into the main attraction, Charles Oliveira, just engaging this one was exciting while at last it man did Charles Oliveira eat some shots. My God, he got hit with some bombs. I can't believe he didn't get knocked out. And then to stay in there and when he jumped on gage, he knocked him down, seemed like, you know, my flash knocked down, not a big deal, but my God, when he jumped on him on the ground and transitioned from one submission attempt to another and slapped that rare naked choke on him. It was so fast. And so beautiful. It reminds me of the old days when hoist Gracie just was so outclassing people in jiu-jitsu. He could beat anyone of any size with any skill set, any discipline. He was just so superior. Charles speed of transition from submission to submission was incredible. I mean, it was incredible. Just in case she isn't all American college wrestler. He's not a pushover on the ground and the wage. I mean, Charles made him look like a white belt on the ground. He really did. Charles evolution has been nothing short of incredible. He gets better every time out. And not just his technical prowess, but to eat those punches, keep your wits about. You get knocked down, get back up, I think he got knocked on a couple times, but I thought that the shot that he didn't go down from was earth shattering. I mean, he got hit so clean and so hard with him. I think it was a left hook. I was like, how is this guy not they would knock most people out? And credit to Charles, I just don't like the only thing that goes to my mind now is like, how would he do against Khabib? And I think that's what a lot of people think, but with that being said, I'm dying to hear your thoughts on this one. Yeah, but right now we got to take it that of course. You're not going to see him because he retired and not only retired. I get to your point. People come back, they retire. They come back Floyd, but he was made a living at it. Made extra money at it, whatever. But he promised his mother. I think that's a little deeper. That what his father was in there to look out for many more. Very close to the father. Father was a very special man. You know, he made Khabib into the warrior that he that he is. For sure. But but he, the mother asked him to promise to retire when the father passed away. And I think he's going to keep his word. So, listen, first of all, he walked into the punch and you just described that he took and walked into and got hurt with. He'd be in aloe Vera. They were savage ferocious hellacious. Catapults from gage gage was carried on to what you're supposed to do..

"He went he'd be in aloe Vera and he blitzed Dustin before he added chance to even get ready to do the strike again game. He wanted to do the strike a game obviously. But before he could even get his feet ready, before he could get his mind completely ready completely and I'm not making shoes off at all and does it never allow it. But before he can put that to the brilliant and the credit of Oliveira that he saw that he rode that wave. He wrote that rhythm and he that momentum and he went out there in the third round immediately and blitzed Craig them. He them and he got in there right away he wanted to be. Right away get his hands on him, right where he could grab them, and right way he could take them to the mat and right where he could execute. Execute his strengths as a brilliant master. And he did. And it was over. Once he got that position, once he got that, he was, first of all, he was allowed to get in because again he blitzed them. He didn't give him a chance to be ready to strike and keep it outside. He blurts them. He caught him on, let's say by surprise, but he got there, okay? And then once he did and he got he got mailed to do was and it was over. The one only thing that I thought maybe at that dire situation could have saved Dustin with this jiu-jitsu master. The one thing that maybe could have saved him was if he just went back, if he just fell backwards onto aloe Vera and slammed Oliveira maybe to the mat and forced him to release that grip. That was the only thing that came to my mind when I was watching it like you are. If he could just flip backwards, you know, fall backwards and remove remove aloe Vera from, you know, from that grip. But other than that, other than that, again, all credit to the champion for executing his plan for doing finding the geography to use his skills the best surviving the other man's geography when he had to. And getting to fight his fight, which is part of being a brilliant fighter. The fight that you want to fight. So credit to does the Poirier for everything he's done and will continue to do his career starting with behaving like a good decent man like a champion and continued great success for aloe Vera who has been in his business like Dustin for a long time. He's fought everybody. He's felt the ups and downs. He felt them all. He's witnessed the more he's, you know, he has felt the more and he's found himself now. And when you get a guy like that who's been down and finds himself and gets himself and crawls up to the top and finally gets that magic that ability that 30% magic to know what it feels to behave like a champion. That's a guy that he can he can just continue to get better because he always was good in other areas, but the mental area, the most important area in my business in his business, he can continue to improve, continue to grow with. It's like conscious to say to me, you know, teddy, and I think this is kind of Oliveira, after you work so hard you've toiled. Just like Dustin, you've toiled so long so hard to get there. We used to say to the fighters, the cuts would always say, teddy. It's hard to get there, but it's harder to keep it. And when you finally get there, which is never guaranteed, but after all that hard work, and after all the pains, the blood to sweat the tears, and there's plenty of all of that. The disappointments to defeat, after all of that, when you finally get there to everything in your freaking power, to stay there. That was clear. That will be all of those attitude, but also it will be done attitude to come back. And we obviously we wish him the best of luck. Teddy, this was a long one. I think we're going to give rob a panic attack as he's on his honeymoon and we've got a he's got a two hour and 30 minute just to remind that I always believe in life stories, life lessons, right Ken, right? It's about life. It's about how you behave as a man how you live life. It's a journey of life. This is a little sort of reminder. Life's not always a honeymoon. Even when you're on one. Even when you're on one. With that, guys, thanks for being with us. We know this was a long and we hoped you enjoyed all the in depth coverage. We love being with you. Hope everyone's having an awesome holiday season. We'll be back next week per usual. Have a good one guys. Thanks for being with us. We hope. So understand the sun color..

"The first round went to Nunes. But I think this is how crazy to some people. I think Pena gained confidence from that first round losing the first round. Because and I think the opposite happened for Luna's known as might have even thought I underestimated. I don't know. I don't know. But all I'm telling you is that that first round, that definitely went to the champion. Nunes paid you went into the lion's den. Literally, because she calls herself the lioness, I guess. She went into the lion's dungeon, went into hot turf. And I came out of it. Well, I'm going back in there. And she ain't coming out. And she ain't coming out. And you know what? She didn't. She had Shen was like the chin of like Rocky Marciano. And I mean and like, you know, mom and alley. I mean, it was Hudson was, you know, the only thing more stronger than Hudson, more granted than I will. And at the point of what makes up a chin. That's part of what makes up its chin. How will so strong? You could feel it. It actually transmitted for the TV. It could actually fill it. And choose not being tonight. She just was not being denied. And everything. She broke, if you know what you watch and you can see it and feel it. There was a moment she broke Nunes. That's what I mean. I feel like I feel like that's what she did by giving up her back. I didn't think that that choke was in there to the extent that you'd get a champion like Nunez to tap, but I feel like she was like, all right, I need to she came out of that first round bolster Ken. Yeah. That with something that I tell my kids, tell my grandchildren, I bet you you tell your kids, and if you don't, I tell you to tell them, but you've been around me long enough to have heard it. There are no boogeymen in this world, or boogie ladies. And she came out of that first round said, there's no boogeyman here. There's no boogie woman here. It's just a woman here, a person, like me. I'm gonna beat her. I always told my son, I used to tell fight is this, but I always told my son, I have my daughter, but my son being my son, I would tell him, but listen to me. And now in his career and NFL with the Raiders and everything. I would say blood listen, when you evaluate these guys, when you look at these great, great, great physical specimens and athletes, and they are great. Remember one thing no matter how they talked about how they perform on film no matter what you've seen, no matter what how extraordinary it is, there are no Superman. Believe me as much as they look like it, they soon or later there's kryptonite somewhere. And you know what it just perfectly brought that home again. It really did. They brought that home again. That second round was incredible to both these young women. These gladiators, that was incredible that second round Ken, the punishment they took and stood there and yeah, you do that. You know, they should have played that music. Anything you can do, I can do better. I mean, you hit me with that bang. Yeah, well, how about this? Bang. Oh, that was a good one. How about this one? Bomb. Oh, that was. That was real good. How about this one? Brown. Oh yeah, that was pretty good too. I mean, it was extraordinary. It was just really incredible. All my all my applause, all my respect to both those women and. How the new king or should I say queen. How the new queen held a new queen and that brings us to the main event before I do that. I just want to remind everyone if you liked the way Pena would slip that jab and throw that overhand right over the jab, you can learn a lot of those techniques on dynamic striking teddy's got a whole tutorial video series on dynamic strike and makes an excellent Christmas gifts. Christmas gift. And if you've got some last minute donating to do before the year ends, get those tack to tax deductions in. Please go to the doctor Atlas foundation and considering making a small donation to the doctor Atlas foundation, teddy and his and his team do excellent work on Staten Island and help and people that are less fortunate than some of us and they really do do a good job. And in the spirit of giving, please give what you can. Without being said, tannie, let's talk about the main event. This is probably the least I've ever looked forward to discussing a fight in my life. Very painful to see dust and lose here in the championship fight. Dustin Poirier gets submitted rear naked choke to Charles Oliveira that continues to look unbelievable from where he was earlier in his career, his development has been incredible. I think he surprised a lot of people with his with his skills in this fight against Dustin. You know, I heard Dustin say I was just texting back and forth with him this morning and he's obviously very disappointed what he's a champion for. He's got a champion mindset for a reason. He's, he knows it's a bump in the road and he's got, you know, pick the pieces up, but you know, in the first round, in between first and second, he thought, this is it. I'm about to be the world champion. He was boxing beautifully. It was literally like Charles had no answer for the straight left that Charles that Dustin was throwing right down the middle. He was connected almost on every single one of them. And I think all of era realizing that said, okay, I am not going to win a fight in this to use your terminology in this geography. This fight for me to win has to be on the canvas. He got him down there and to all of era's credit, he controlled them there. He got him on the ground early into the second round and Dustin, you know, after the fight said, look, there was nothing I could really do. It doesn't have him in the full guard. Dustin said he didn't want to try to like HIPAA escape or scoop back towards the fence where he might be able to get out of that position. He was content to just hold on and try to get out of the round because he was afraid that with Charles BJJ skills that if he tried the hip escape or tried to sweep all of her off and he was afraid of giving up his back, he knew he was vulnerable in that position with jiu-jitsu player like Charles, so he was content to ride the round out in almost give the round away essentially and try to prevent from doing too much damage. He did exactly that, took some big shots and elbows from Charles who obviously had the top position on him, unfortunately for Dustin Charles did get his back standing up Dustin and hindsight said he thought that Charles was a little too high with the hooks in on his back from the standing position, but that's why Charles is the champion he said he was so he was so strong on my back and then he eventually worked his way into that rear naked choke and Dustin said, look, I did everything I could. And from having from all of us having seen Dustin, been involved been invulnerable positions before you know he's not going to tap unless it's all it's over. And Charles Oliveira gets the win by rear naked choke congratulations to Charles very sorry to see Dustin lose the opportunity to be the champion, but we know we'll be back if that's what he decides to do. The guy is a world class human being. It's very, very heartbreaking to see him lose. We know what he's been through to get to this point..

"He has to be busier. He has to move his hands more. He doesn't move his hands enough. And he has it in his last few fights in a UFC and definitely didn't against Paul in the first fight. He didn't move his hands enough to win a fight. Unless he lands that big right there. But even to land the right hand, you got to move the left hand to set it up. You got to move your hands the more you throw. They are the more vulnerable you are, but the more likely you are of landing something. If you don't travel, well, you're less likely to land. That's something you have to land. And I'll finish it with this. Everything shape. He could be a he could be a little better this time. Why teddy? Why I hear you? Because he realized from his first effort in the boxing ring not in no case in a boxing ring a new realm, a new neighborhood for him. He realized that he didn't throw enough. And maybe he realized he was too respectful. Too careful too cautious, whatever you want to call it. That this time he'd be a little less cautious, a little less respectful in that way. And he realized I have to commit to move my hands more. And if that comes across from the loss, that he benefited from the loss and then in the rematch, he has his chance, a chance to get a different outcome. That's my breakdown for that fight. Right now. Yeah, interesting. I'm actually looking forward to it. But from the novelty fights to deadly serious fight, UFC lightweight title fight, our man Dustin Poirier's got one more to YouTube to use your quote one more mountain to climb for the ultimate view. He's in a tough with Charles Oliveira this Saturday night from Vegas. I'm nervous just even thinking about it. What do you look for there and what's Dustin have to do to get the win here? That's a really interesting matchup. Because I think it's like looking in a mirror sometimes. These guys are very similar. They're both tremendous on the mat. I mean, aloe Vera has the most submissions in the history of the UFC. I believe it's like 14 of something like that. And it's not by accident. It's because he's a brilliant, jiu-jitsu, Brazilian jiu-jitsu expert. And does his damn good on the mat because he's a terrific wrestler and also has an advanced black belt in jiu-jitsu, but that if that edge would have to go to, I would say, would have to go to aloe Vera a little bit, although it does again. He had some very well on the floor on a mat and maybe even a little better with the grappling and the wrestling. So very close there and then striking very close with Dustin and my estimation may be a little edge, but very close, both guys could finish this. I think dozens, maybe the best finisher right now in the UFC. When he gets your heart he is Joe Lewis. He gets out of this Jack Dempsey. He gets out of these Mike Tyson. He gets out of there. Those are great finishes. All available look like a damn good finisher against Sandler. And he's a good finisher. And he's aloe Vera has great instincts. I talk about the great Crawford, my number one pick pound for pound. I like him a lot. Great instincts. You know, he makes things up as he does it if he has to win. I saw the capacity of doing that. The ability to do that with Oliveira when he beat Chandler gets dropped against heard he's on a flaw on the madkin and once he do instinctively keeps moving his head and he made chandlers like 5 punches that would have probably took him out, probably would end the fight. And it would be Chandler now fighting Poirier. Instead, so he's got those instincts. He's got it the intangibles. They have all that stuff. I think The X Factor, I think The X Factor, something you touched on too, but I had been thinking about this. And some new touchdown that you sent me a text about it, but I agree with you. It's the mental part. For me, listen, you've heard me talk you've always heard me say 75% of my business this business fighting business is metal. How strong are you mentally? How developed aly? Do you have the capacity to go into a dark room that you've never been in before, and find the light switch? Do you? Do you? You don't just get that. That gets developed. You find that. Poirier, I think found that along the way in a tough fight that he was in, when he found out the most important thing I think he found out in the wins over macgregor was that. That he could depend on himself. He could trust himself. He could rely on himself in those dark rooms. That's so invaluable. Oh, my God. Ken, that's so invaluable. He can't put a you can't put a number on it how important it is. You really can't, to quantify it properly. And I think aloe Vera has found the same thing. Would win in the title. Surviving the Chandler fight and then winning. I think he found out, too, that he could go in a dark room, and he could put a light on. When other people can't. So that is very, very, very close. And that's where I look to make my pick. And as close as it is, I give an edge in that area. I give it an edge in that area to Poirier. As you do. But I give an age for my reason because I think he might have the incentive. They both have great motivation incentive. But the incentive to continue to put that light on and that dog will..

"Who'll so much for the future years that they have so much years higher. It's a fantastic event to be honest. It's exactly what you're saying because the there's always usaa slicked down to the b- pool so they'll be to usa teams playing in this so very experienced nations and there's always a couple of very strong teams from established countries and then there's a lot of developing countries and a lot in between and if the boys i've been coaching two of them vase i went when they are thirteen and their nineteen and twenty now right so they're getting stronger but and they've got to play against people and get better over time the first the first couple of times we got killed but but they're very competitive now so i think it's great for countries to to do that and to meet people from all over the world right so you get like new zealand. The world mixed If you have a team and you sign up you get to go but how much how. Much of an impact that have on your development as curler getting to go to a world competition like that and get that experience you. It's amazing way. It's it's hard to explain but you when you go to any ward competition events like that so it's experienced that you need to go to see it's it's time klaux is all the rules and the cannot sweep the just little things that when you do many times. Don't be attention anymore. But once you're first every new though ever sees the extra stress Extra distraction you need to go you need to go and go again learning experience. That's the only way for us. Learn this on january. Now we have The juniors ward be chanting It's going to fire some. Did the brazil's sending team. Oh that's fantastic john. I know jonathan will be there. Huskies always in yeah. He's always for that so he'll be there. Coaching yeah cool. Yeah could knock on wood. We have to win our championship qualifier in two weeks. But yeah if we win thin it's mboya finland so that's way cool. Excited would have a laid this team and boys team and is meant to be the first time in awards championship for them they are they are great kids. Lots still pretty young on a now knock curling time on ice but another thing they are going. They still need to learn lots near still pretty green. "In what's what's the what's the future for you. I know that there's you know there's the the oh. Qe coming up a relatively soon. Do you plan on brazil planning on sending teams to that. Yes right now because covert last year. What happens we did not do the president trump and cheaper that. We just said we did do every year. It was cancer then. What they did today open at for subscription and it was decided by the athletes We decided between the athletes to make some arrangements to decide on teams that were going and then if we could not agree on dan we will latch. The cd decided the was really good. Athletes got together by zoom meeting last and we decided to instead of one team representing brazil on each figari. We open up for two teams to brazil this year. Because is a pre only clear. Don't win at competitions for the olympic qualifying and competitions for the word qualifying. Don't we have two different teams going to each one of these records routes olympia and words on now we have a woman in man's going to prequalify event. That's going to happening turkey now. You're tober and my team. The team that townscape keeping the the boys team oriented to the wards root. The team that. I'm playing now is called a diverse. You would been playing for a couple of years together. We are really glad to be representing brazil year and we are just waiting to see if we're going to the usa for the american's challenge. Always have it'll be there. We're just awaiting for that misused to announce if it's going to happen or not going to happen and then we get First second or third place. On america's challenge will be going to finland the goblet clearly. Yes i don. I can't what the you know. You're sure so Yes so maybe for our listeners. Just explain it so if you're in the americas zone so how many how many countries normally sign up in the americas zone for the the america's challenge there. The rue is They spots around the award to go to their world championship divided by zones. The man kazakhstan that include north. America saint american south america. We have choose faults. Y'all only two teams from the america wind to the words The conversation that we should a third team heirs of the different story is only two teams. And guess what sees ever is always usa in canada right. Maybe there's a mexican team. Yana team resilient team. Whatever how many we have but american in canada are really good really. "They are about to open. I i believe now next week is like that open and close open but hard to make. Ice is not easy. Right when moles Shut off your power than you need to make it. All the is again and hearts and brazil is another challenge. So is this. Is this a twelve month of the year rancor is it like when outside of covert is the plan to let it run year round or the first plan yes. Ship blinked to stay but safari. Yes okay and so. The hope is that you'll be able to start having leagues and having teams develop there and all of that on top Try curling sessions. Yes that's neutral. so do you think you could host. Do you think that the playdowns eventually we'll be in brazil. Then is that vancouver. Would that be part of the plan to or s. Yes that was already planned for this past year but because coal the deputy was canceled yes the planning for the dates knots caveat but squint to be probably june july next year you go there i would love to go. I mean i've been stuck in two years on desperate to go anywhere so i would go to brazil for sure. Yeah hey you guys have talked about needing Coaches you could very easily hire jonathan and move him down to sell paulo. I'm sure he'd be happy to to be added to the coaching staff for the for the ice arena. They're here your go go. Yeah i think we need some portuguese. I have great portuguese for saying english adventure race. Oh i'm sure you could add. Portuguese threat comes from the latin communication. As you guys are building is is there another country that you guys have seen grow that you're trying to model yourselves after them or is this kind of kind of a whole whole new territory in terms of growing a curling nation. Do you think myself. I think might be experiences. Just how what. I learned here in canada right now housing In ho the leaks go how the junior sprint lower us. I feel lucky to be in canada online. No you guys are are in the usa. But i feel very fortunate to have all the coaching. 's that can coaches in creating problems and camps and all that kind of stuff gonna. The grenade is big here in canada. And i'm few lucky. Have all these these experienced people that can help teach though my experience personally is just how things are are happening here. Sometimes we we actually have discussions there on the the ration- 'cause i'm part of the technical komitch either and sometimes this. That's just in canada. That's not how it works around. Were.

"Me time here in canada we have The portuguese that to have lots of ice right that is occurring club every corner. We do have really good coal cheese right. Canadian coaches in brazil is a little bit more challenge. Like who is there to teach right now. They have one coach there His name is scott He's canadian but mirrored of a brazilian. Anyway he's there. He's good but he's the of person there. That could teach don't staff but the long process except by sap is growing there but for me Having the possibility to be hearing candidates all the help of ice scopes availability in coaches to help us out the ring brazilians to the ice and make them competitive teams. It's it's great. So how's the national teams changed overtime. Have they initially was just drawn from the vancouver grew prejudice. Draw from wherever you can. Do you have a championship or playoff. How do you like your teams that compete in w cf events. Yeah every year on the brazil consideration do championship for all the categories. Right woman's votes ladies mixed doubles The last few years the championships has been happening in vancouver because the minority of the players were here though lose easier to make a competition where and most of the players were now with the renamed brazil. The plan needs to do the championships in their championship. Is user changed Usually we were doing february-march butts now. We're planning because it's in brazil may be we're going to off-season regular season don't may be may june july that's where the air is scheduling for the next Championships and then people subscribe and then they play in wins. That'd be awesome. Jonathan to your knowledge would it just would just be that arena in the arena in new zealand is the only two in the southern hemisphere. The only two dedicated curling clubs in the southern hemisphere. It has to be right. I think i can't who else at the moment because the only other federated show is the only other southern hemisphere federation. That's active at the moment. Right like in terms like putting teams in world championship events as hell. How long how long were they open before Before the pandemic hit Ago the so bad. I was there. January twenty five to savary. I or something like that. Round weakening week off Opening well i came one month thinks where already closing up for. Who was arnold ten days two weeks. Ohno just horrible timing. Yeah a things down in brazil. I've seen that it's been. It's been rough lately. That they had another spike is it. Is it improving down there to where they might be able to start bringing people into curl again soon. I hope so. I don't know on this Insult razi opening close open close. They close everything up here would would win into getting getting the the curling aspect of the arena built. Was it a was it. A group venture on behalf of the entire ice sports federation. They decided they wanted both a hockey slash skating rink and curling or do you know the history of how that how that facility wound up getting built. I know a little bit The award for the nation abs. Yes they allow all the situations Every year presents some projects or building new arenas and the cg apply Few years ago for for that sunday and they were approved don't arena was actually build with money thrown dobelis. Yes that they give a certain amount of money than they build the project in after certain amount of years they start to pay back the arena. start like that and then what's to be digi did was Instead of just through the three sheets credit is they decide to make a new bigger project..

"And we'll from there. How does this club in vancouver then. Interact with the brazilian ice sports federation. What how do you like Is there like a brazilian curling association as well or any form teams that of your club birthday drawn from other parts of the world the challenging brazil. All these years was because we did not have ice in brazil. Riotinto all the stats. Brasilia's is canada has some players in the usa. Have some players in switzerland. That's what they know so far and it's hard one you don't have lots of people right. You have lots of ice in lots of people carrying when you select the for a long long road you have a better quality teams more competitive for you to go in award lab. The biggest challenge forever was don't have the icing brazil we could have lots of residents. The curling club was a way that we could keep bringing new people teaching new people for along along the run be able to get more competitive teams to how the lack of ice that we had in asia than for everybody Happiness last year a brazilian their first arena Three sheets of ice Some balls seedy. And they've been working since then. But coles came and there's some challenges there that don't the curly's happening right now own an off right i think is everywhere around. The world is the ride. Cannot they cannot open the relation safety health issue Don't see serena open. They have be with a little hard time. It's a it's a nice complex with are on this on the side. Three curtains sheets in big is for isis katie. In haughey though isis skating at rocket haughey has been going better because open. Don't they've been able to keep going but curling because is closed. That has been hard. But we stu lavin will think that's the first step for us to get a more players. We just need more time to to to make that happen..

"You can have two ways. You can have a collection of canadian. Ex-pats in your country or a collection of your ex pats in the us or canada. And that's kind of how brazil kinda started but now in we will learn during our interview. Now they've got ice and that is a game changer. So we will we will get to our interview with thesis oliveira and she will tell us all about it all right. We are joined by isa's from the brazilian curling club in vancouver. Is that right. That's correct nice to meet you guys. Thanks for having me here. No thank you so much for joining us. And we'll get into kind of the uniqueness of the setup you guys. Have you guys have entire league of brazilian. Curlers there in vancouver and We definitely wanna talk about that and talk about the growth of the sport in brazil in the new ice arena that you have in brazil that includes curling ice but i we wanna kinda get to know you a little bit better. Can you just tell us where you're from and what it was like growing up there well. My name's eases. I was born in some paulo in brazil. gra stay. That came to canada was twenty six. I believe them. I grew up in brazil. Have my school anniversary families friends. Everybody there any. I believe was in two thousand three. I came to canada used to work in the tv industry in brazil and even cool varies The filming this year's is really huge. Game start working here. Yeah and meantime carleen show apple my life. So how did the. How did that happen with the story behind. That story is that two thousand ten. They're winter olympic. Games was even couvert but fun enough on that timeframe was back in brazil. Visiting my family and did curly show up on. Tv like in the mainstream about the colonel lympics but curling was the first time in brazil on tv in two thousand and to new wing picks. The will that that sport was fever because it was different. What was that people sweeping. And and then i was like. Oh what is that. And then i came back to canada and then listen. Where can i do that. And that's how that starts then came back to canada. Look for occurred in place to start to learn. And that's how that started. So what was it like in brazil during the twenty two olympics. I mean what was it that Got you guys attention about about curling. Even though you're you know in in south america where there isn't a ton of snow especially on your your side of south america. You don't know the sport in you see that on tv. It's really strange. And he's earns right because we don then there's kind of sliding there is and the broom sweeping like we with our house not always the right end. It's only sports to disabled. What is this. And then i got with some other friends back here anything..

I did I candidate fifteen hours on the ice this weekend and threw three stones time. What was the last time you spent that much time on the ice. Probably men's play downs back in february. Twenty twenty I guess next play. Downs march twenty twenty. So were you coaching. I was coaching coached. Joe team for four sessions and then There is a young junior girls team possibly forming. So i did a couple of sessions with them then. There was a coaching group So to get your like level wine in the uk. You have to demonstrate. I can do a demonstration coaching session. I was the assessor for that. And that ran for a couple of hours The distant individual. Work with joe and Mike around a little bit too so all right. Yeah that's not bad. Yeah it was pretty good pretty good for weekends work so we are. We are going to a continent that we have not hit yet Here on this podcast. Going to south america and we are going to brazil by way of vancouver For this show. Yeah so. I think we've been doing a few of these part of what we're trying to do. Here is a go around the world and see how curling's taken often different parts of the world and so this is. I guess we've already done australian the southern hemisphere So this is their second trip to the southern science here. First time in south america in. It's it's interesting to see. This is the first time that we've talked to that. We've talked to someone who helped form a club for people from their nation in of ex-pats like this. Because you have a club of brazilian curlers. That play in vancouver. So it's yeah. And i think it's kinda interesting similar to when we talked to adriana from the mexican kirwin fedaration where one of the ways that new federations can start off as if they have x. pass in an established curling country like canada the us and they have enough of a of that community of ex-pats in that in that We are curling is basically they can form get the training and out of that kind of build up a team that that can enter a world championship and then hopefully make connections with their home countries. Ice federation or whatever they're sports federation is and get to the w that way and then use that as a vehicle to build the facility and then hopefully get more at least one facility and hopefully more facilities than have more people curl in that country and grow. The sports outweigh almost like you..

You can also have complete knockout with a B No. Responsible. That's right. This'll means that those infected in the first wave could have little protection from the new strain. Even more troubling, it could render some of the vaccines less effective. It's clear That we've underestimated this virus on the other hands. She and her collaborator, Daniele Oliveira, a computer engineering. Professor wanna know who is especially susceptible to scams, and who is not they sign up older. People I study put in a special browser on their stuff and then sneaky, researchers they creep in fake phishing emails to their tests subjects and the track who falls for the fake scams. Here's Dr EDNA. And almost majority of our sample forty three percent fail for those phishing emails, this included young and older diets, but it was, especially the older women who showed a particular vulnerability to those phishing emails, and most importantly, what we thought was that there was very little awareness of the risks that's terrifying. So they turned out to be vulnerable, but did not think that they were vulnerable and then tell me more about this forty-three percent. The people who fell for this, the most is the key. Right. Who might be extra susceptible so that we can help them protect themselves. It's not really their general health. It's not just the older. You get one interesting finding here older people with what researchers called negative affect where extra susceptible to online scam. So what's that mean? Well, they tested to see if people were having a bad day. Those are the people who seem to be prone to falling victim to these online scams. The people saying, oh, what a beautiful morning were more immune to tell. Me more about Dr Abner is research.
