"Is good news including the tornado watch only in effect for loan Harper Oklahoma county, at least in the. Area, but that does extend farther south severe. Thunderstorm watch is still in effect for ten pm. I wouldn't be counseled, maybe a little bit earlier out of cost western Kansas. Affect us here and central Kansas, including Sedgwick county and the Wichita metro those are set to expire at twelve but with this moving pretty quickly off the east. Those may also get dropped a little bit earlier than been night tonight. The big concern that we saw yesterday was still all that heavy rainfall more, tranquil rains with this heavy downpours yet again. We still have this flash flood alerts. In fact, fire flood watches all the way through tomorrow morning for amounts that may exceed one to two inches. There could be ice at amounts between three and four as we go through the next twenty four hours. So this'll be something that we do continue to monitor very closely seeing flash flood warnings across far southern cans, including medicine lodge. So this is going to be developing situation. Yet, again, our rivers are very high swollen rivers, creeks and streams, as well as a saturated ground. We're all waterlogged. This is going to be something that we will need to try very closely in the storm trying three weather center. More details tonight on this storm, and what we could see again tomorrow, coming up on news three. That's TJ Springer with ks news in case, whether there are TV media partners where we're actually on the air with ninety eight seven and thirteen thirty k and s with operation storm watch. We're giving you are continuous coverage as the severe thunderstorm moves through some good stuff at TJ said there, satellite this storm's gonna move through court pretty quickly, the thing that we don't need right now is the heavy rain, Ronnie price, meterologist on staff, and also one of our trackers out there in the field. Ronnie. Tell us what you're seeing right now, the situation, we're in. Well, we'll tell you what we've got a very light to moderate rainfall here on the east side of what you John near ninth and armor right now and just grey skies. We've got that rain coming down at as Steve and Ted mentioned a few minutes ago. There's some pretty powerful bolt of lightning coming down at times under the flashes seem to have dropped off a little bit here in our neighborhood. But there's still quite a bit of lightning with the store. That's coming our way to put on my meteorologist hat ro briefly there. I, I wouldn't expect it to take very long. Once the rain starts to settle into the city that we'll start to see flash. Flood warnings come out. There's just no way for this water to go. Everything's all. Bogged down in all waterlogged. So it's not gonna take very much rain at all to get the flooding going there along the streets and, and fill up some of those areas. So that'll be something to watch. And if you've got some travel plans here coming up shortly couple of extra times about that, because once torrential rain starts move in pretty quickly, but. In east Wichita. Little bit of light to moderate rainfall, not much wind to speak up at this point, certainly haven't had any hail yet here and really not expecting that, but definitely some bolt of lightning coming down at times, but at least no severe weather here in our neighborhood right now as we speak from east Wichita storm tracker, Rodney price for. All right. Thank you very much there. Rodney. This is operatives storm watch on ninety eight seven.

"K T O K Lee Matthews. Good. Even hope you had a good work day drive carefully on the way home. It's very foggy. And we'll continue. So most of the night tonight. Some rain to the west and north skirting to the north part of Kingfisher and Oklahoma county in the next couple of hours bills up for joining us from twenty four seven news on NewsRadio one thousand Katie. Okay. And Bill I was surprised he called it out by name in the state of the union address. The president actually said that caravan. Yeah, it was interesting that as the president was talking about border security and and the need for a barrier. We had about two thousand migrants gathering in the small Mexican town of negroes, which is right across the Rio Grande river from Texas. And this is an area where there is no barrier. It is just the natural barrier of the Rio Grande and at that point. It's only about one hundred twenty feet wide. So this is. Is a prime example of what the president's talking about. Now this group remains on the Mexican side. They are in a vacant factory building where are basically camping out being provided. The Staples by Mexican authorities waiting their turn to go through the asylum process to come into the United States. The problem is this is a very small point of entry eagle pass, Texas as a town of only about twenty eight thousand people along the border, and they say they can handle about twelve to fifteen people per day. So that means it would be months before these people could all go through the process here, and the fear is that they'll get impatient begins swimming across the river, so Texas has deployed about five hundred state troopers to that border along with fifty reserve deputies, and we of course, have our border control agents as well. So they are very visible along that border area. In case any of those migrants, get a little antsy and try to swim across the river. Is it a long swim at that point there? I'm not I'm not. Geography, very well doesn't look very wide to me. It looks like it's about one hundred fifty feet. Okay. Bills with us on NewsRadio one thousand care the Mexicans doing anything as they have in the past to try to give these people some aid. Yeah, they are. In fact, it's interesting that that there was a survey done Lee down at the Guatemala Mexico border, which is the first border that these caravans would have to cross in their in their trek north, and as part of the survey they said where where do you wanna go and only thirty percent of them said they want to get to the United States almost half of them said that they would likely stay in Mexico under a humanitarian visa program that Mexico has started. So I think the combination of Mexico's outreach to some of these people, and the fact that it's becoming clearer to these migrants said it's going to be very difficult to get to the United States. And if you do your chances of getting in or even less, I think maybe the message is beginning to get across that many of these people. Who are fleeing bad conditions in Central America are deciding to stay in Mexico, and and look for work there move their families their bills emperor on NewsRadio one thousand KT. Okay. You heard a certain I don't know if it was just booing or hissing or murmuring the microphones didn't really catch it. And when the president did bring this up in the state of the union last night with that's what was that. Mostly Democrats was mostly delegates who live along the border. I think it is Democrats because this remains, of course, the big issue as negotiations continue in an effort to avert another government shutdown or the president's declaration of a state of emergency along the border their border wall remains the big issue there. And I think that here with a lack of a barrier in this present condition here is a is exactly the president's point another part of this is Lee that this caravan as they move through northern Mexico is actually escorted by Mexican authorities. And they they brought buses to bring them up because that area of northern Mexico is controlled by the Zada drug cartel. And they thought it would be too dangerous for these migrants to be on their own. I've heard that before about that area of Mexico from migrants who come up here from Guatemala, and I have family who work in the sugar business, and they have a lot of migrants that come up in the fall to sugar mills down in southern United States. And that's the part of the journey. They fear the most in fact, if they can at all avoid it. They they try to drive straight through that zone and not stop the night. Yeah. It it's dangerous because this is a very very violent drug cartel. And that's something the president has talked about as well. Now, not only the violence that they can bring with it. But the opportunities for these cartels to move product across the US border at an area where there is no barrier. Bill zimper.
