"Years old. it's survivor from destiny's child and i will tell you why because i'm glad you asked. This album has some of the rock to that. Maybe you wouldn't expect me to be as a rock guitarist to be. You know jumping towards this particular album but the title track survivor. Which you've heard on the radio. A lot is a great fine crafted pop song with beyond say and and the team there providing that three part vocal delivery they do so well there was a it was a michael jackson tribute tv show. That came out in two thousand one when destiny's child was kind of a relatively new act and they did a live version of boot delicious. Which with real guitars at three guitar players and drummer and you know porn section. And they of course the beginning of that song has that stevie nicks edge of seventeen a guitar part that they lifted but they played it so raw. Live and i remember watching beyond say looking at michael jackson taunting in nevada to boot. Alicia vol bang right adam. And he's kind of taken aback. Oh beyond say it but it was. It was powerful. And all i can say is. I didn't have the album until i saw that particular cut of that special with destiny's child doing booty leashes and i thought this song pretty rock. It's it's a rock and song. Yes it's a dance song assets movement or whatever you want to say but there's a rock sensibility to it. That made me love the band and of course gone onto become a huge beyond say fan she just an amazing artist in totality. But this shows her some of her rock and best and if you followed her career at all you've seen like when she's done live shows vegas residencies whatever. She has a full band four guitars full. Everything and generally they're mostly female. She hires musicians to back her up on tour. So there's just too much not to like about this record survivor from destiny's child my number full

"Unfortunately, we saw him play 5 minutes and 16 seconds and summer league, and then yeah, I think it's not an uncommon tale that people checked out on the thumb there after he was gone, because he was like the most interesting piece by far. Yeah, he really was. Yeah, look, Oklahoma City, I mean, they're probably going to be the worst team in the NBA next year. And that's fine. I don't think they have any illusions otherwise. If they honestly, if they have it their way, they will be. I honestly. That's what that's what this is, that's what this is all about. And I think that there was a lot of people in Oklahoma City that understand what the team is doing. And so halfway through the year, when it looks like they were in the mix for the play and it's like, well, what are we doing, guys? What is this? This isn't the plan. So I think they will play enough young players, and that's why another reason why I think if you are a thunder fan and you understand what they're trying to do, then you can understand why they would just wave Kemba Walker before the season. Because Kimball walkers a floor razor. An unnecessary thing for where this team is headed. So yeah, they should be one of the worst teams in the league. Really just due to an experience. You know, these all these guys had three or four years under their belt. I think this could be a pretty decent team, but they don't. And young players lose games. That's just the way the NBA works. Yeah, I'm going to be interested to see poku this year because he is just the best. Like just watching Pokémon to be happy. What a bizarre player. I'm going to be interested to see Darius baisley this year. Like, that's the guy that's like kind of gotten lost. And I have actually liked more of what I've seen from him than what I think most people have recognized just because he's been hidden away in Oklahoma City. Like he's still learning defensively and he's still like a sub 30% three point shooter. But there are a lot of tools there. There are a lot of athletic tools that he's shown. Yeah, yeah, I'm intrigued. This is a big year for baisley without a doubt. He will be extension eligible after this season and the thunder don't like players to get to restricted free agency and they usually will extend them or they'll trade them. And so to me, this is basically future in OKC will likely be determined how he plays this season. So to me, I'd like to see them not necessarily a box him in, but I'd like to I'd like to see him be able to showcase some kind of like three and D ability and then transition like ball handling and transition ability to because he's got that in his bag, certainly. So I'm interested to see him too..

"Okay, we're back here at the game theory podcast. We are going to run through Oklahoma City Portland in Utah in terms of what they did the summer. Let's start with Andrews dear sweet, Oklahoma City Thunder. The most important thing they did this summer with Sanchez Gil just Alexander to a max extension. They traded for Kemba Walker and the number 16 overall pick for Al Horford and Moses Brown with like some second round pick swapping within that deal. They then moved that number 16 overall pick for two additional first round picks in the future. So they got Kemba Walker and two future first round picks for Al Horford basically. Yeah. On top of that, they decided to then wave Kemba Walker. Do we know how much money can I give back yet? To do this? So he gave back basically 10 million per season of the last two years of his deal. Yeah. So like a significant chunk. It basically, the way that I've heard it explained is that it basically allowed them to roll Derek favors as money into that deal. And it'd just be like Derek favors was like poof, like nothing, like the money's not there anymore. Yeah. And I think it's how it's being envisioned. Yeah, so they traded for Derek favors as well. Bringing him into Oklahoma City along with a future first, and I believe a future second, right? Yes. That's right. On top of that, they sign Mike mascara in free agency. I believe that's everything with Oklahoma City, right? Yeah. So look, the most important thing that they did this summer was the thing they got done, they extended Shea Gil just Alexander for 5 more years. And that's really all that matters. I feel like they got their guy under contract. This is a total rebuilding project that is trying to find stars in the draft. I am skeptical that they drafted one in Josh giddy, but I think he's probably a pretty good player..

"He's smaller, but a lot of their perimeter players are bigger and can at least handle the load as like the lead perimeter player in D'angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards. I kind of like the fit of Patrick Beverly with a lot of their backcourt mates, I guess. Yeah, I just wonder personality wise what that looks like with Karl Anthony towns in particular. I have my doubts about that. At that particular fit, but yeah, I don't know. I just have a hard time envisioning what this team looks like as a great team. Or as even a good team. I've seen that makes the play in. You know, I just don't we're just going to have to see a leap. We need to see a pretty big leap from Anthony Edwards, or if Malik Beasley can put it together, or maybe Jaden McDaniels really pops. He looked great this summer, but they need somebody to pop, like pretty big in order to get to even the playing level. Because otherwise I just don't see it. I don't know what they're building toward in terms of defensive identity. It is my biggest problem. There are three best players are D'angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards and Carl towns. And all three of those guys report offenders. And Malik Beasley. Is gonna play real minutes at the very least. And he's an exceedingly poor defender. He might be worse than the all three of the other ones. So yeah. You can have Patrick Beverly, you can have Jaden McDaniels you can have Joshua kogi and all of those guys are good defenders and maybe they can go out and they can bring back Jared Vanderbilt who I thought was really good last year. I'm a little bit surprised that he's still out on the market. If I was Oklahoma City, for instance, I would be looking pretty substantially at him. And I'm sure we'll talk about Oklahoma City here momentarily. But like I said, you can bring in Patrick Beverly, but as long as you're four key offensive players, are this bad on defense? It's just gonna be really, really hard to do anything substantial on that end, like Ricky Rubio started 51 games this year. He's a really good defender as a point guard. They have Jaden McDaniels. They Josh kogi this year, jerk Culver, when he played as a pretty good defender, even though he can't really do anything else. Jared Vanderbilt's athletic, but it doesn't matter when you have three guys out there next to them that are just total non defenders in the way that towns Beasley Edwards and Russell are. Yeah. And it's not only like the lack of cohesion on the defensive end because they're just won't be..

"There is a fun streetcar that drives all around downtown of leave midtown and automobile alley which are the communities just past downtown in a fun way to get around but because the city is so spread out. It's best rental car or did uber or lift in to get around with a rideshare. It's relatively easy because it's on a grid. It's really easy to get around or not as likely to get lost though for sure and so for renting a car. What's the parking situation like inside the city. Parking is pretty good Most people don't know that oklahoma city is where the parking meter was founded. It's all your fault. it is our fault. Say it. I hate paying for parking but parking is fairly easy growing up where i did. I never really learned how to parallel park. I still for the life of me cannot do it so luckily there are plenty of. Parking garages around downtown. There's also street parking and then once you get out of downtown. There's plenty of space. We're very spread out and there isn't really as much need for parking garage or meters outside downtown. So parking is pretty easy. Traffic typically is not too bad we do always seem to have a traffic construction project happening all the time. And so when one is done a new one begins. But it's pretty easy to get around. we'll go. They're building for the future that way with with those construction projects. That's always funny. They coming from southern california when you go to other cities and they are. Traffic is so bad. You like hold on. Hold on a second. This is not traffic. this is like a sneeze. You know this is nothing now. I have growing up in southern california. I am painfully familiar with what traffic can be like. Especially in the la county area I've been stuck in an outside of anaheim for hours waiting for a bouquet of balloons to pass. It is never that bad. Mock Draft 1.1: Houston Rockets

"Let's start with the houston rockets. They are one of three teams with the best shot of having the number one pick in the draft over fourteen percent chance of the number one. Pick a fifty two point one percent chance of winning a top four. Pick one of things that's relevant for the rockets is that if they don't get a top four pick in the draft. They must send their picked the oklahoma city thunder and so right now fifty two point one percent chance they pick it. It's it's really fifty fifty that the rockets even have their pick this year and thunder could potentially have to top five picks. And we'll talk about that a second when we get to the thunder but assuming for a minute that they get the number one pick in the draft. I have the number one on. Big board are sorry. I'm mock draft one point one km cunningham and i'll just say this about kate cottingham it is looking more and more likely that he is going to be the number one pick in any scenario that we can really think about it. Discuss right now he he. It seems like every team and scout. That i'm talking to the league has caved cunningham number one. I mean we'll see more on on lottery night on who actually gets the number one pick in which way it may go. But it's looking highly likely that cape cunningham is going to be the number one pick in the draft regardless of who draft where and certainly for the rockets. he fits indeed It's really a no brainer to have a versatile wing with his feel for the game and the way he can see the floor the way he can defend multiple positions. I think he's a no brainer for the rockets. But i could also say that about a lot of the other teams there so right now and mock draft one point one. The rockets get cade cunningham.

When do what happens. Man playing this game if the clippers lose four row in their swept in the first round of the playoffs. What do we do with this team. You're not you're not trading paul. What are we going to do with quiet. Leonard what did the legacy mean for quiet. Leonard what do we do with tyler. What are we going to be doing to team here. There's nothing that we can do to improve it bradley. Beal is not going to the los angeles clippers. There's no major upgrade that you can have. That can improve the los angeles clippers for next season if they lose four to the dallas mavericks. And i don't even think it's a situation where we're dealing with lack of talent. I don't want to call lack of hard. I don't know what the hell is doing. The los angeles clippers but right now multiple things going on where we thought. This is what 11/12 games left in the regular season. You needed this win, you could ill afford a loss like this, but even without Tatum and Kemba last name. They were without shade gilgeous-alexander, and they stink, they absolutely stink. They're trying to tank they've got a garbage team other than Lou door and you lost. You had supposedly Dead one of the top 25 players in the NBA in jail and Brad. I thought, Oh, supposedly. And it starts now, you mean using all subjects, you mean you're not lose. That's the supposedly Factor know. It's, it's true. Jeff look. I think they rolled the dice on Tatum thinking we could get away with tonight and still squash out the window. And so we needed to give him a day off. Let's pick the game and they pick this one on the back to back on the front, end of a back-to-back, and it burned him obviously. And I don't think he's, I don't think he's hurt but I mean, I get it doesn't matter. Like I watched this whole game, I've not watched to Oklahoma City games this year, I still can't name a player on their team

"In april nineteen ninety-five. Kansas phone started ringing and ringing some more. It just wouldn't stop lots of calls. It wasn't like every second but it was just lots of calls. Ken had no idea what was going on. He ran a real estate magazine in seattle. But these calls had nothing to do with that. These callers were angry. This was the era of landline phones. No caller id so he'd answer and it would just be people screaming and cursing and they'd hang up before he could even figure out why they were so mad. He'd eventually learned that it had to do with the post online on the internet service. Aol or america online and aol. That time was filled with loss of message boards and someone else had posted this message under the screen. Name kenzi with cans real phone number. This early internet troll was purporting to sell great oklahoma t shirts and this was just days after a domestic terrorist bombing in oklahoma city killed more than one hundred and sixty people. These shirts they were just awful. They had slogans making light of the bombing and saying tasteless things about the victims and the ads infuriated people. How could you do this. What a loser you are. I'm just paraphrasing. all of now you could use your own Sense and And think of what they might be saying given what had just happened in oklahoma city in the post one troll wrote quote. Ask for ken due to high demand. Please call back if busy but not only can know nothing about this ad. He didn't even use aol so he called. Aol and basically i told him you know. My phone's ringing off the hook and i can't get anything done and it saw all these people Upset about something that they saw on. Aol aol took the post down but another popped up then another and another a familiar cat and mouse game.

"But he was supposed to be a shooter. That's what he was supposed to be coming into. The League was was a guy that it like volume threes and he never quite became that But yeah I mean he's he he missed on Ferguson whenever there was Oh, in an ob right there. That was like that was a clear mess and there are lots of guys in that in that area like. You had. Derek. Whyte in that same area which I know the thunder liked him too and if you were taken Derek whyte in that spot, you look a lot better today than you do now with Ferguson but as far as the draft goes I mean I just. I the thunder, this is their. This is their chance, and this is the only way under can get superstars and keep them for any length of time. It's the draft them, and so the thunder have to do a good job of identifying who those guys are and. If they can time it right like the twenty one, twenty, two drafts are supposed to be some of the deepest drafts a long time, and so if you can, if they can actually make it happen and finally ladies for Chris and get Gallon Ra to to another team if let him walk. Then I think they're in good position to try it again, and that's where that's when the town evaluation like that's when the work is really done. Because obviously, the Kevin Durant Dick was the easiest thing that Sam ever did. You just take who the blazers don't take, and that's that's how you do that draft. Draft worked. But. Then like the real work was identifying Russell Westbrook now and then identifying James Harden in the following traffic. That's where. That's where the real work was done and so. The have to identify which people say like as many as eight guys in the twenty twenty, one draft could be. A franchise as changing guys and obviously not all eight will be man that was said in a lot of drafts. And if they can just identify like who those top guys are sometimes, it's not even the number one guy and maybe it's not cade Cunningham like we don't we don't know. But that's where the real work is done is identifying who that is, and then you have enough draft capital moving forward to make trades and find you know fill in gaps and stuff like that. The real work will be with their thunders own picks. And in the top five if they get to where they want to be, and then from there, they have to identify who they think is that next superstar Because, we get an ice if you get one superstar to pair with Shane and then you can fill in the gaps you're. Ready to go. 'cause there's not I mean in this in this NBA in the NBA moving forward. Is Not like these in there may be they may form and the future but right now there's not like these big trias this unstoppable force. Yes there. So. And that's I mean that's the challenge of being in Oklahoma City and being in a small market..

It was like three and twelve in the first fifteen games right or something like that. We were talking about embracing the tank everybody thought they were gonNA. Get a top five pick in this draft because they played terribly they couldn't. They couldn't finish games and it's funny how everything just lift it was in I don't remember what the date was but they played Philadelphia in Oklahoma City and they beat the sixers which turned out to be not an impressive thing to her sixers are on the road at the time it was like Whoa this is a big deal. "Let's go to Oklahoma City. And we'll hear from a man that's in Orlando right now that Steven Adams, he says the bubble even though it's been getting some complaints from some players. It's not Syria. It's all good, but um, but this is not serious stuff. It's not hard. It's not difficult, but it's another bloody result was gonna complain, right as their preferences made, but saw anything too serious? Just a bit of Ah The dry food here and there and get bored every now and then. But It's all good man. Critical critical actually gets indirect with a couple of the other teams plays on the team, so that's pretty cool. I like that reaction from Steven Adams. And I think it's another player pretty much staying to the minority of people that are bitching about the bubble. You could have been a lot worse. Let's be appreciative that yes, sometimes you get some bland food. Sometimes you get bored because you can't go out and live a luxurious life that used to be in a super star. At the end of the day, though, we're trapped dinner with a lot of other successful people. We're playing a game that we love and we're doing something that's pretty cool in trying to bring back some normal seat. Two sports fans who have had that taken away from them. And even as bad as MBA players think they have that because their hotel room, which is in a resort isn't what they're used to. Or maybe the food isn't what they're used Tio. Let's also put it into perspective..

"And that's you know, it's not right. I mean, it's. To it after a while. Yeah. It's not like, it's not a great feeling. You know? Yeah. I I mean, I understand guys coming from. Although I've never experienced anything similar what I was gonna say. I mean, it's not a popular topic that Scott, but like when you do talk, look, Tim McVeigh's background. It's a fair question of had Tim McVeigh never joined the military would have become the person that he did and have done. What he did? I mean, it it all kind of sparked from there about his distrust of American government. And then he went down a really dark path. It's hard to say, man. And I mean, there's choices involved people make decisions and also I mean, I've also seen people who go from being relatively normal people. I know you've seen it too. I mean, you know, go down that like conspiracy theory road and up believing all kinds of crazy shit. I mean. I've known I knew a guy who was was he's a minority himself, and he was a totally normal guy. And then the next thing I see him popping up on my Facebook like posting all this pro Waffen SS bullshit. I'm like what the fuck half into. You was like, quite and Biggs B the wind. White supremacist. What is it? You have or against black people. How much time have you got? Yeah. With mcveigh. I mean, I think maybe going to war played a part. But I mean, I just think he was had a odd upbringing. He was an odd, dude. And he was real susceptible to to be radical into. It's a number of things coming together. You know? I mean, a lot of people were shipped off to the Gulf war. You know, and you know, just like I brought up before Mark Konia want to the war in Iraq saw some of the same things at least, you know, as far as the the massive amounts of killing but still went to a very different place in life. So I mean, there's something about your personal psychology in just your own manner of thinking that plays into that so much and that's hard to quantify. You know, man. I think it's the way people cope right after I left the ambulance service. We lost a lot of medics for drugs one after the other keep getting arrested, you know, for doing drugs, and it was kinda like, it's horrible. What you see in everything that's unexcused? And I mean, everyone like you said, Jack, everyone's got choices, you know, how they decide to cope with things. I mean like Kevin said himself. I mean, he turned us up and subunits at first and was eventually able to to see the light. But you know, it's one thing I wanted to mention about the article before ago is while Kevin was teaching at Florida state. He was recalled to Oklahoma City to testify in the Terry Nichols trial, which was a state was the state of Oklahoma trial, and he got up on the stand. And he told his story about you know, hit the night before the bombing. And the federal government decided, you know, they did I don't I don't I don't know what it was. But they didn't use his testimony. But. You know, he said it was it was hard because they kind of blew him off. But one of the victims one of the one of the the father of one of the children died came up to him and thanked him for talented story while with conspiracy. I mean, did did they not use his testimony because there some bigger plan or did it really does not fit into their narrative? Just the prosecution's case. And I don't think it's anything to ferry in the feds. Of course, like, it's Tim McVeigh. He just killed one hundred sixty eight people like they wanna slam dunk right Nichols to it was it was the Nichols case..

However, the planes were approved back in the nineteen ninety s and four maps or anything else that happened? But this just could not go on. I mean, he was just a mass mental considering because if you remember the crosstown expressway there is nothing built south of that highway. It literally this once before they took it down. I didn't quite get it. But now that it's gone. He realize what a dividing line the cross town expressway for or whatever highway was between north and south Oklahoma City. Yes, alexei. There's no development south of that highway nothing. And and you look at it now. But anyway, you know, we went to a formed a little organization fringe for better boulevard. We went to dot into the city council, and and quite honestly, Oklahoma City is a customer. Evolved docks. So when we went to dot with just said, this is not acceptable. What you're doing is is is really not going to work. It's going to recreate what we have high speed bypass for interstate forty through downtown. Oklahoma City was just a ridiculous proposal in my mind and others to we've got a lot of support from this. And so we had a old out through the cast of the Oklahoma City council in Oklahoma City to redesign. You know, the the new boulevard. Well, they came back with a plan that was more like the northwest expressway than anything. We had might not mean it was six lanes with a great big media. And it was just it was just not good. So we went back to the city council and pleaded with them to go back to Don in heaven decided well, they came back, but it was since time with a four lane highway through the middle of downtown Oklahoma City on the ground, the still it was it was just not like so once again, we went to the city council back to ODA and God's into redesign it for the third time. And this time they put the whole thing on the ground except the influence on the eastern on the West End,.
