"Now or? Some kind of luxury few state. I. Thank paper Bag. On came in, he said ring the Bell Ring The bell and I said nothing about pleasing grocery carts. Bizarre time been hard time for all the pickers because you come on down with the nation blinds and they're wondering when the violence are gonNA come. Notifications. Statement got a mask from Oklahoma. You're getting a little too southern I stand. Grand. On this one. Did. You. Did you hear we gotta get to the challenge but? I'M GONNA I'M GONNA. Say This we have. We been talking for fifty minutes. Could Lord, all right starts show? What are we started eight minutes late but the the here's the thing. So, fucking wild. I should probably save it for the after show but. But this you know like a lot of. Like a lot of Americans you know a lot of Americans are reckoning. With a lot of historical things like what things are named the reckoning with statues and you know on the one end. There's a lot of overdue like Oh. Hey Could Virginia military institute not be actively racist and harassing by people because that a thing we could work on and the other end you've got what people variously called cancel culture whatever. Well San Francisco is one of the city's it's going through that we have. Let's go straight off the Dome I mean we were settled as a mission town basically. So there's there's a lot of bad shit that's gone down in the past long story short trying to be really clear for context here that these in Francisco Public School System, all the schools are closed and every everybody's doing remote learning. They're trying to get to a point where they can send back the elementary kids virtually super clear this school year with the exception of going to pick up your chromebook at a distance line there's been no in person anything on the school year. So there has been an advisory board, a blue ribbon panel if you like. Put together to go through in this case, the the names of schools in San Francisco. and to identify potentially problematic. Names that that might need to be changed. So. It was announced I believe late last week. That they were proposing that one third of the schools in San Francisco do some brainstorming and come up with a different name that that's the thing they need to be working on. One schools are not open the schools that the kids can't go to one third of them. Now need to the recommendation as they need to step up and come up with a better name at different name than the one that the school has. I. Okay that took me Oh. Wow what. I. Can you give me an example of? GonNa, give you boy am I ever going to give you an example? Like so much incredibly stupid shit in San Francisco. This comes from a good place right there. They're like any of us, trying to trying to be good and grow and like fast break things well I. Think for a long time it's been a town run by very smart progressive. Adult children who don't have children. There's all kinds of shit. The people do in this town that like it's such a good idea in the abstract there's so many ideas that there's such a neat idea if you were like a fourteen year old kid at girls state like, Oh, boy, that's a really interesting idea. Oh, you know. But then you know in the way it is implemented it's not great. Okay. So are mere has really cool is very mad about this and very frustrated that this where they're putting their attention right now, a third of San Francisco public schools could see their names changed as officials push to replace quote inappropriate ones honoring presidents, writers, generals, and even. Senator. Dianne Feinstein. Okay. So just so we're clear here we're talking about we're talking about Lincoln Lull Presidio Paul. Revere. Dianne Feinstein. Thomas Jefferson Francis Scott. Key incompetent former mayor Paul. Revere as in the British are coming the British coming Paul. Revere, as as as in him and why Abraham. Lincoln it seemed like he was a good slave man no because he did bad things to native American. So here's the criteria anyone directed. Anyone directly involved in the colonization of people real talk that's going to be a lot of people including certainly the people who started the missions, slave owners or participants in enslavement. Oh, excuse me not not me my family only gentrified. I mean putting perpetrators of genocide or slavery those who exploit workers slash people. Okay, good. I'm glad I'm included. Okay. Those who directly oppressed or abused women, Children Queer or transgender people. Now, in modern times, I think that's going to clear a lot of the chessboard those who are known racists supremacists. Or spouse racist beliefs. So some of these, you know I'm not gonNA weep over unit Bro Sarah like not not my favorites Spaniard or whatever. So it's just a big list of schools is is so is it like? I I mean I guess I M as confused about this as I bet a lot of parents and people in San Francisco our because is it feels a lot of the. Things I feel like again, I'm not against the idea of. Certainly. There's. An element of taste or a matter of degree, but it's it's just so many at once. Let me just name a few fuck really now this is what we're doing. Okay. It seems the teachers in superintendent the principals they got a lot of shit on their plate right now to even keep schools not open. Okay. So all right fine. The let's even as soon as resources for that but really now. Really, we're going to a third, a third of the schools are doing that, and in some similar word, some of a third of the third of the School of the hundred and twenty-five schools forty. Four parents principles at forty four sites were forced to scramble this week to brainstorm new school names while also juggling the demands of distance learning and a pandemic. So the people who are brainstorming these names I'm sure that it's a very diverse group of people they've brought in who are familiar with the situation at hand dry. Administrators at the school, right? Well, right. So. I'm sure they brought in some they brought in some some. Some learned people but like Okay Lake what we ultimately saying here what we're saying is that the There was a time when this person was valorize and honored, and because they revalorising honor, they named the school after them our values as Americans have changed and we want to reassess. The extent to which those values or something we want to. Continue to reward by publicizing that person and valorising them I. think that's a straight up legit thing to to do for all kinds of things But but yeah, the timing the timing is not great and also like I think about the like the Mississippi flag where I think it was Mississippi where they said okay. Look WE'RE GONNA get different flag, but I were just not GonNa do this flag until we have don't have you know until we have a better.

"Business still yes plus you have Victoria's entrepreneurs rising correct. Yeah. Okay. So When you started victorious entrepreneurs rising, and that's what you do with your sister Did you we share with people that are either watching or listening? How Or if that call was something that God was like like it stood out three d like we were talking like you to people a little bit of the process because I think what happens for a lot of people is they they have things standing out three? But they don't have confidence in it and they never take action on it Yeah. So what's the story kind of really started was? So I built up my my team and my business. With my company and and loved it. But I also snowed EST during that part because I started with like a pay got this really what I mean I was in verbal prayer about where my next steps because the time I didn't I knew did not want to teach forever like I know that about myself even though I want to teach first grade. I got into it and I was like Okay I love teaching. But I don't see myself in the classroom for the rest of my life and so that's what I was looking or okay. Where do you want me to go because I love working with women I was in a lot of leadership positions, army school at the time and and so I was kind of just navigating that looking at maybe going back to school to be a professor, how could I get into leadership more and then this opportunity? Came up and I was like Okay Lake is maybe something I should go for and I prayed about it and got jumped in and when I do something I commit but I found myself after a couple of years to it's in some people in the industry can relate of you must get so caught up in your business because you are excited about or you're passionate but it became I mean it did become an idol for me at a point and I got myself caught up into it.

"How obnoxious do you have to be to not see the irony in that statement? I'm I'm sick of people being I'm tired of people complaining about their white monuments, being torn down because a white heritage I'm tired I and. At work just to kind of wrap it up really quick. Yes, I go on and on this could be a spoken word piece for like two hours talking about how I'm tired, but I'm not. GonNa do that you. showed. Up. Can't. But Okay Lake that work different segment called neck is spoken word pieces. Oh my God okay, so I decided at the start of last year. The head of the diversity program at our school. He quit to go to another job, and I'm a part of the diversity action group where we deal with diversity equity inclusion, but it's more of like a you know just like a community of of faculty and staff members. Talking in you know suggesting things I like the task force. One, hundred yeah, so We wanted to make sure that it kept going, and it didn't fall apart, so I volunteered along with a friend of mine and we were, we were put together with a third to be the three Co chairs of this group and it was great. We did a lot of progress. It was you know last year discount black lives matters is still a thing. People are still dying police, brutality, but more you know like the peace keeping on the reunion, keeping it on the radar, but also like ooh we're inviting an indigenous tattoo artists to come talk to the students. You know things like that right, yeah! Squier March happens, and then all of a sudden. We become like fucking the highlight it's like. Do Ours. And, so it's been nonstop, it's been non fucking. Stop which is good, but I'm tired in a lot of it is really kind of leveling down to a lot of this work is on our backs. PEOPLE OF COLOR BE IPO people. especially. We're doing the work when it should be people supporting us. It should be people being like you take a break. Let me step up and do this for you. You know and the latest thing that happened in this is personal. And and you know. I got to talk about it and I'll sensor. There's I won't say any names or anything, but just so you know there's a music program at at the school that I work at, and it's because of like you said. The depression is coming on people. They need to go to college. Budgets are happening to the college, so the music program is looking like it might be..

"But if you relates I hope that this episode will. You know just bring you. Bring light to what you're feeling and hopefully empower you to to do something about it now. You're in yeah air as you guys know if you. Are Oh Jeez. Aaron Rosas are coach. We've been working with for about a year. Now. we hired Aaron. Feels so long ago. It feels like we were different people, but really with the aim. is to Help US uncover any AC. Unconscious bias sees. Help us to be better for Y'all help us to just be more thoughtful, more intentional, more inclusive of the things incense working with earn you know our lives have completely changed. We've evolved to, or we've moved onto different things within within what we do, and within what we work on that are deeply personal to who we are, but within this conversation we asked Aaron to come on specifically to talk about this, and because right now the collective conversation. There can be so much information and news and things that we see on a daily basis that can be very triggering. Here were triggers a lot. We have triggered warnings before posts. We have you know just. The collective narrative includes the word trigger so within this I think it's really helpful for us to unpack what exactly a trigger is and how we can break it down to work against that because it's okay to be triggered of course, but there's always something underneath that trigger that needs to be examined until you know, we can find the piece that we so much deserve I think what's been so interesting in examining those triggers has been how deep and how far back they might go, and then it becomes. How do we fix it if it's so deep insofar back like if you think. Think about your families or where you grew up or just like the system in which you've lived and known to be quote, Unquote home, and so it becomes really overwhelming, but I love Aaron because there is this. There is kind of like this helicopter view of just like Okay Lake. Yes, that is true. That is true that you might have grown up in a place where you never went to school with a black person or you know all of that might be true, but there is just this knowing in your soul, and what you were born with that you can activate, which is just this deep innate sense of love, Reno for yourself and other human beings so. All that to say it's not spiritual bypassing in any way, but this spiritual work you know this is deep deep spiritual work, so you know it just comes out of very important time in our history to be examining not.

"Your full attention if the plane crashes. I need to know that you would be willing to open the door next to eight assists in the event of emergency and thinking. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of your time you. The points crashed and I'm still alive in the fires on the inside and you're wondering if I opened up the door next to me. Yeah of course they will like who wouldn't well one. That's coming from someone. High Accountability WHO's a total helper was a lot of healthcare Like of course that was my answer. I'm like why do they have to do that so I called my brother-in-law who's really He was a pilot that time who trained pilots for southwest. What is this ridiculous new thing? He's like cya social scientists. You know this if we leave it ambiguous right we just Kelly L. everybody in the group. I hope you'll all be here. We'll make the safest possible. Do the right thing get it. Got It good. Everybody's GonNa think somebody else will tend to somebody else. Take care of it just like if you buy the exit row and emergency happens. I the flight attendant will tell me what to do or won't we know about the larger group of people. The more likely in individual will take action on heroically is rare. That's why it's on the news when it happens right so what we need to do in the first step of accountability is commitment. Is We need to meet with people individually and just say If we had an outbreak right now and We started searching in the E. D. You listeners in that department. What's your level of commitment and you know? How are you feeling in? Can I count on you and if somebody like my commitments? Low long a scale of one to ten. What do you think your commitment level is? And it's like it's like a two and then. I would say I need to know I really want you on board. We've looked at these risks. Help me understand. What's your plan to increase? Your commitment is the skill thing. Do you need to you know Enhance your skills on innovation assisting innovation is that what is it and it may be like. I have no plans to increase my commitment level. It may be. I have to immune compromise kids at home. I'm a single parent. I like this is not my time and not my assignment. It's too much for me to commit to Okay Lake. We're not here to beat people up. We're here to call them up to greatness but if there's a real reason I can't commit now with they're just like I am not doing that. No then part of it. I need to look at my part. Hell have. I kept a nurse employed. Who is that selective in the work? Here she will be doing. Oh that's right when they didn't WANNA duties hours. I let them do that when they didn't do. These types of patients. I let them do that when they complain about. People coming in with mental health challenges. I put a social worker in so that that nurse would never have to deal with someone who was struggling with some addictions or a Lotta this lack of willingness. Leka stepping up from a town ables unless they have a real situation is revealing to you as a leader. What you've allowed is like are some nurses who are just saying not mean not now and I'm like you've been a nurse for twenty years. This is of course you of course now like what is going on well. I've enable them this whole time so individually. We have to talk about what's your commitment level and like I'm like a six. What's your point to get yourself to a ton what can you do? What can I do you know? Because you want work individually. Maybe something come up in the group. Nobody wants to say. I haven't innovative ways. Should we do one a month and said well it could be that we're doing ten a day so let's have ICU. Come down let's have our regional hospital in. Let's put a Pan Plan in place. And that's how you start working. Not to enable people not to coddle them but to show that billion. What's our plan? And then you know your high committed you make sure they're highly skilled and then you start having them reach down for your next committed to say Janice feels really comfortable in this. She has a lot experience in this type of environments. I'm GonNa pair the two of you. You'RE GONNA be working together on the section. I'm going to put the two of you together and tribally. I want you to see how you can get to be more like Janice in your approach to this you know. Group transparent normalized neutral and then individual is that called a greatness and if somebody has a something to accommodate accommodate them but we don't accommodate fear because fear is false appearing real. I went to the HIV crisis. When I was just first coming out of the social worker and household been a straighter and we didn't know a lot about that disease condition. We didn't know a lot about that but there is some of us who leaned into it and said let's learn what we can protect ourselves. 'cause people need service and there were others that were fuller judgmental ism and just said you know that's a curse or whatever they believed and it was that team that we didn't put high. Kambas and low accountable together because we wanted to focus on the patient. The the injury to the patient is to be taken care of by somebody who's scared of them. That was scared to be present to them so we can't do that. Our customers are all patients but we quickly put together a Dream Team that then broke the curve so put high Komo's with high accountable make life easy. Get people to claim where they are. Somebody's kind of mid committed than have them work with high accountable to convert them possible but if somebody's low and commitment then say you know what it seems like? I need you to take a leave or I have somebody from the ICU. That's wanting to come down. Can you cover there? And they're like well no because I don't that shift and that would be nice days. I'm working harder than you are. Really accommodating what is your feel fear and potentially based on not keeping your skill set up so I'm not going to accommodate that right now I am offering you some solutions and it seems like You're not taking those up in so what I can do for you. Is You know a corner. Public- put you on leave or bowl. That will be unpaid while you've got occasion you can use the. I shouldn't have to use my vacation in the pandemic absolutely correct and one way not to lose your vacation against to take us. Icu position so know. That's your choice in avoid emotional blackmail where people are like. So you're just laying me off without pay. Actually I'm not letting you off I've offered you some really opportunity. Your choosing not to and I don't even know that will be without pay because it seems like unemployment's tested right there on. That might be an option for you. Well if I climb on appointment I had to quit. Yes guy what we tend to do. Is We accommodate? Fear which leaves people believing they're the victims and that you need to work harder at their success than they are and not being insensitive here right if something as the reasonable accommodation that might team knows. I am the first to go. Let me send you my own personal like money to do that. I'm talking about the people who are conditional on a good day in their work. And you've allowed that conditionality. What I love for a lot of us is this is exposing one year bad leadership. But what you've allowed okay. You guys notice your anxiety as now. Another changes coming for many. We're talking about going back out again. Really don't lose what you've gained here so many times. We get a glimpse over the holidays. Which is why we southern New Year's resolution right regardless of your own on a spiritual perspectives or religions that you may practice yielders lot of holidays that happened November December time period. We get time off. We set these big intentions and then we just watched them get blown away by business and other people building your agendas in us not Setting boundaries not being brave us not being courageous in so as you notice your anxiety. Notice that anxieties their piper reason that you want to not give up some of the things you released or gains and have the courage to get conscious. Write down what you've learned. That asked you what this is revealed to you. What you've become grateful for like. Take that and really get conscious and intentional. To the point it can be something really little even though it felt good for instance to get my nails manicured on Every week basis. I really resented the couple of hours. I would be in there and it's like the little things like I don't want to go back to you. Know for some of you. Who Got Gray? I was pre gray if you made it this far. I'm telling you what headband. If you've thought about it good the rest of the way and let your natural self come through. It's like notice what It can be small like that large from me is like I've noticed. What a homebody. I am and how I thought to be intimate with all of you really be available and therefore you. I needed to be out in front of you. I'll give you an and Lebanon you guys up and what I realized is spend about twelve hours to get to euchre like an hour. Where if we can make this intimate and get some Group. Coaching going again. They're smaller are venues. And that I can get like up close and personal but then those twelve hours are myself care which leads to more inspiration in innovation which leads to be more prolific on the courses. I can take which leads to like. I don't have to wait for lung. Ought to bring me in could access it directly. You can use your own. You know team budget to say we're going to do this for our staff like it's really for me. I'm really looking at if you WANNA ask me. Do you love travel. I'm like absolutely I love travel but I'm so good at loving what is that. I'm like how am I love it because I do it site. Choose to love it and now I'm kind of like I love being at home and I love being online. I love this whole thing. I've connected more with people now than ever buy still have a long list of people I got off. I got to reach out to them. I'm I've been pretty busy supporting some of our healthcare workers so we are out of time. I love you'd is do not go back to the normal that not even you loved so go back to let you love but not what you didn't love. Put your stake in.

"China funnel places. I go into spaces. They this is Ashley Groover Baker and you are listening to the on this day entertainment. Podcast thank you so much for joining me on the final episode breakdown of by by Miss Iranian Pie. Four the Shahs of sunset. Can I just start off by saying? I don't really understand why they're calling it by by Miss Iranian Pie. Who IS THE IRANIAN PIE? I don't get it like. Who are they saying goodbye to is that I'm Jay? Is that a sign that. Mj's is not coming back. I don't I don't I don't get it. I totally feel missing. Something and I am just confused to say the least well. This episode started off with my favorite family. Mj Tommy Baby. Shams the lovely Vida and her amazing glossy Red Lips. I mean Vita came in serving a look in. I just loved it. Mj ordered the lobster. Vida had a salad dying to know at Tommy got. We didn't hear his order. Nor did we get a shot of his food so that was disappointing. Nor did we hear what Shams had? But I'M GONNA assume it was milk. Mj told her family that she wanted to host. Actually now that I'm thinking about it. This is the first time. I think we've seen Mj without her assistant person in a while anyway. She wants to host a SIP Persian style. So of course it's going to be big and over the TUB. She brings up the Houdini Mansion. Which contentious say. I'm so jealous I would maybe not the best choice of words. I would love to have some sort of party. I don't care what at the Houdini Mansion and went to a wedding in La at the famous mansion in Los Angeles that gets rented out. Bought OUT FOR WEDDINGS RECEPTIONS. Whatever the case may be and it was extravagant and it reminded me of a nut is quite a cool is place. Is Houdini Mansion? But I don't know if I'm giving too much credit to the Houdini mansion no because maybe all the extravagant decor was compliments of the Persian style. Party and not the venue. So I'm not really sure how they compare but the Houdini Mansion. I'm here for it. Vida on the other hand said it was good for Halloween but not a baby shower whereas Tommy liked the idea. Okay so this is so weird. Mj At this point tells vida that she spoke with resin and the gang and vida acts like she's surprised but they were in Hawaii together does not know that they went to Hawaii together. Like who did Jay say that she went to Hawaii with? That is so weird to me by weird. I mean staged. I'm not buying it. This is all four camera and just give me the real stuff. I really can't stand that. An Jay tells her mom that Rosa said he was going to drop the charges and then Vida asked if was invited to the sympathy. Tommy answered with a hard. No any actually said it calmly which I thought was cool because Tommy usually yells everything so progress for Tommy thinking. Isn't it weird that he's a father like can you imagine him lake telling his kids stories or reading a book to 'em and him like screaming and Amelia Deleo like Bernstein. Bears Book Very Bizarre that one level. Oh my gosh. We then see resin. Adam going to a token event for Shahs of sunset there at the bitter roof pottery shop. Adam is wearing shorts like I needed more reason to detest this man. He wore effing George and I literally cannot. I mean Yes name Award George a few weeks ago but it was in jest. They went to a country music festival. Of course he's going to wear shorts within seconds. Resume the balls joke. He's holding a ball of clay. He says I feel like Demi Moore already and the staff immediately clock back with saying we get that a lot and that's because he's a basic at this point. The staff member announces their exit Duh. There like I'm going to leave now and you can finish up your pottery. It's just like another one of these stage scenes resident Adam start talking about the bees from Hawaii. Rosa explains that they had to leave because of Mj. Because of the conversation Jihad with Paulina that really upset might atom of course chimes in at this point. Because he's such a little bitch couldn't help it he at this point well honestly after I just called him a little bitch which he is but he is right about this like the fact that. Mj was stirring the pot in. Hawaii is definitely shady. Adam brought it up which okay. The guy's got a point but that doesn't mean he's not the one who started all this naked Jenga nonsense himself anyway. Raza at this point tells Adam that he wants to drop the charges against Tommy Adam. After a second of thought decides he does not want to pursue felony charges but wants to keep the restraining order. Roses start saying that he forgives. Mj He forgives. Tommy he wants everybody to be able to coexist and Adam stances ground says basically. This is how it's going to be. He looked at Raza dead in the eye. And said I'm glad we know how to move forward cool and then smirked and he is the worst. He's legit the worst. The next scene is at Earth baby destiny and her dog arrive. She's wearing thanks for nothing shirt and within seconds of being inside the store she tells the saleslady quote. I need a baby. Did I say that out loud. Can I just respond to destiny's I need a baby comment girl no you? Don't you gotta fix the Orange? Shed Rupaul. Says and this is a completely different context. But this were these are words that I think all of this might need to hear somebody out. There needs to hear this. If you can't love yourself how in the hell are you gonNa love somebody else? That's what I'm saying. Destiny you know. Stop no you are not going to have a baby. You need to figure out yourself. I said Berg. I've been on a Shits Creek Binge lately. Oh and by the way a quick aside. I'm sorry this is out so late. I have been so sick just enough to where it wasn't able to function. So thank you for being patient for this episode around. I'm back in action. Everything will be back on track moving forward. The salesperson sold destiny. I guess it was nipple cream. And she was explaining how nipples crack and bleed when mothers are nursing and in case we forgot acidini reminded us. The mayor's cut some biggest cities and well she does. They're monsters of course conveniently enough. Mike just happens to facetime while she's in the store and he tells her that he's not going to the sippy. They speak Farsi to one. Another and the translation on the screen described. Mj As bitter. Cutting and Mike said she makes me crazy. Destiny said she was just confused because in Hawaii. Had this Koumba Yom moment. That's kind of where they left. The situation destiny checked out and spent two hundred fifty six dollars on baby gifts. Meanwhile at MJ's house we have MJ. Toya in Julio the doggies her hair and makeup persistent all the people are there. Everybody's working on MJ getting her ready for the infamous Sipa Nancy. We cut to the HOUDINI state. Oh it's amazing. It is a dream there. Are these stone stairs these big giant walls of stone and there's a giant chessboard on the ground. Oh it was fantastic. Tons of green just gorgeous. Feta is one of the first people to arrive. Mona and Nima get their Mona. I mean seriously. That girl is stunning her first season. She was stunning. And I feel like every time we see her. She looks a little more different. Like why's everyone do what you WanNa do to your face? It's your fucking face and I'm allowed to have my fucking opinion okay. I'm just so tired of seeing these young gorgeous women with all the stuff in their face like save it for when you're older like if somebody who just turned forty enjoy your twenty something and thirty. Something faces like soon. You'll need. That stuff will not need. Let's be honest but soon it'll be a more appropriate time lake. Do enjoy enjoy. Enjoy your body to don't spend your skinny years thinking you're fat like I did because that effing sucks I'm Jay didn't lie this put unquote Persian style. Sip antsy delivered. There was this huge cookie section. A Cotton Candy Machine. There were tacos. Maybe your lobster rolls that look like one of the stations at the party is to design baby tease for Sham's and there's a eggplant. Somebody drew an Eggplant emoji on one of the baby shirts and Route Shams inside of it and Nima joked that he wanted to write by Mike and show it to Viva as a joke and I just thought that was really funny. I don't think the eggplant was Shams naming it is necessarily funny but framing it on Mike. Who isn't there is funny. Is Anybody with me on that. Like the joke isn't funny but the joke because of the joke is funny. Okay Anyway Raza and my we cut to them. They are at the batting cages. And at this point we're cutting back and forth. We're back to the SIPPY NIMA asks. Where's G G we cut to G- giving your teeth cleaned. And then we go right for him. Gees mouth to shot of Nima and his pearly whites. God I love the Nima hazing about his teeth so much like I hope. This running joke doesn't stop. Sars arrived at this point destiny arrives. She's in a look is always. She has balloons. She says a bitch does it. And that's when she starts the hike up the stairs. There's another arrival. Mj Baby Tommy and MJ's Qaboos because Tommy couldn't resist saying you've got some caboose as they entered their babies sip Nsee let me just say they're Tommy. Scher he might not be a man of many words. In the view words does have sound well quite barbaric with that said that man loves loves his woman's body in I admire the hell out of that. You know that song by the Sleazy John. Mayer hit that song. Your body is a wonderland like I feel that. Tommy would sing that to Mj all the time. He is just all over the body. Yada Yada and good for her good for her. She loves show in that Shit off so the fact that she found somebody who is excited to respond to her body the way that she wants their response to be good for her. They found each other. We cut back to destiny. Who is still going up the stairs again. Bravo to the editors she finally makes it up the stairs fans out her vagina and can I say I got it and not only. That is somebody with very large. Very real breasts. Can I say that these things become very? I don't mean to gross you out but swamp like maybe it's high humidity underneath things in the summer and I would definitely not mind having a Boop van available that would some. I'll be appropriate in public. We'll have to figure that one out we see Shervan destiny they're talking about MJ's Hawaii Saga and of course MJ walks right up. Shervan who I love calls. Mj Al for her friends not going. And he's basically wanting her own her shit and own her actions but he did say it was childish for Mike Nut to show up where MJ added. I'm glad he's not here. I feel like I'm Jay could have just not set that in Ben Okay Lake. Mike was standing up for his woman at this point which I admire just like I admired when Tommy stood up for. Mj though I don't condone the violence obviously I think it's really poor judgment on. Mj's part not to see that. Mike was Protecting Paulina way. That Tommy had protected her. Get it together. Why don't these people?.

"Everybody has a story that they either aren't telling or haven't accepted or haven't figured out about themselves And everyone I also get the feeling even though Greece someone like grace's a complete mess and Raskin is now letting or off the hook for lake when she says crazy racist things like I think raskin still like loves her. She just has like yeah. Oh Yeah Yeah. There is a clear desire their inner direction in her art to like find redemption for her and let her end up in a place as she and the people around are happy which did not have to happen like grace could be a laughing-stock and she loses everything and it's it's fun players like imperfect people who are stuck in this place together that I just I love that. That's what I like to write about. I like to read about who people are who they who. They act like who? They pretend to be who they want to be who they are all that tension. Thanks Ellen Raskin you've been talking. You've been talking about the writing Kate you on tell us. Oh Yeah it's actually written three bucks. My third book written way more than that if published three bucks if we literally go back to if I had thought of it I mean. It's not a podcast. It wouldn't matter if I showed you wouldn't see listeners at home but the first book I ever wrote when I was thirteen is called playing the game in it is even more of a rip off of the game then the most recent book no and you know the game is the title chair the life that you live the actual game blue book came out in October's called Tuesday mooney talks to ghosts and it is very much built on on this kind of a treasure like cookie. Rich Person Dies and leaves behind instead of this kind of game where the heirs have to figure something out. It's it's more like a game in the city of Boston. Anyone can play it and you'll get a portion of my wealth and I find it so funny though because yes. That book is absolutely indebted to Western game. But my second book bellwether rhapsody was much more intentionally indebted to the West game because it is about pairs of people connecting outside of their own experiences and discovering the new layers of their identity in this sort of like It's about Teenage musicians at a weekend like music. Retreat STUCK THERE WHILE. There's a snowstorm so and like maybe someone was murdered. So it's like that pressure cooker. luxury mystery experience. So that was like I think of. That is my western book as I think of Tuesday as my Indiana Jones book but also like I can't not right the western game. Even if I'm not trying to rate the game I think but yeah sure. Oh my God we've got like sixteen characters to be inspired by any one of them. I take my hat is off to her like I just of who these people are how economically she creates them and it does look like she just started and kept going. But it all fits. She either did that. Lake immediately like as she was going or she went back and revised stuff but it is. It's a clock like it's a perfect clock. There's nothing that doesn't fit in. It and I will probably always be trying to write something that tight and not succeeding. Yeah do you find yourself like putting that impulse aside because you're like here's the characters that I decided to write about and I love them and it's fine and I won't right perfect said exactly but that's not what I care about either like I care about the people who are stuck in the gears what they're gonNa do but I do also because I was raised on the West Game? I really it needs to there. Needs to be a feeling of satisfaction and the ending of this book is one of the most satisfying endings. I'd also never read so they solve. Do we want to tell people what the solution out of the game is? I think the book came out thirty two years ago or longer than learning years ago. So I think we're past spoiler window. I've a better she she was. I don't know but anyway point being yeah people The solution is that I don't know how do we back into this? Yeah well rate. The solution is that he's not his life tcans not by killing him but he got another identity and he is one of the heirs who who pretends to die dramatically. Doing during the will reading. He's saying others the Doorman who was the judges partner who she didn't investigate. So that was that was her only error. Exactly Yeah yes like the blind spot to me which and she kind of the judge kind realizes that but doesn't like do anything with that feeling. I don't know if it counts or not and he was also GonNa be Northrop yes and turtle realizes because sandys got like Abbie is as he lies dying to name another book. I guess He has a bruise on his shin. Which is a trademark you sign of an encounter with turtle but he knows she knows she wouldn't have kicked her friend. She kicks this idiot north of earlier and so she puts two and two together. Twitchy doesn't tell anyone that knowledge to herself. She doesn't tell anyone else. No because at this point. It's it's very it's like what if the Charlie and the chocolate factory movie and is Willie Wonka say you get nothing you lose and then the movie was over. Lost the Weston game at this. They have all won the idea that they can accomplish more than they thought they could Andrew. That's what they have one. They've all learned that the real million dollars is the friends along the way that's fine. It's all emotional. Capitalism gather that asset. That's true yes so they can move out. And then like raise the Ritz Adams. But yeah so yes so. She's been told that when they're getting the will. The specific instruction is that the one who wins the windfall will be the one who finds the and then sandy makes a joke about something so sydell. Who's taking shorthand notes? The will misses the word. But there was never a word there because that paragraph was leading into the fourth section if the will so the actual instruction is the one who wins the windfall will be the one who finds the fourth and the fourth is the fourth identity of Windy Wind Kloppel which was in Sam West. Things name that he changed so Sam. Wasting Barney Northrup sandy mix others and Julian are Eastman Kodak. Shout out who is yeah. Who is the guy? We haven't talked about him in our summary but you encounter him super briefly early on because he's the chairman of the board or whatever of the West Wing Waste Company. Like he is. He's a guy who's still around. Even though Westinghouse has kind of disappeared from public life he makes statements about how cool Western was and is like in the paper talking about stocks and stuff since she just like goes. Total has become aware of like. Hey Sandy I one. And it's her friend. Who spent all these people? And then the book does this unbelievable thing in an epilogue where jumps ahead a couple of months and then five years and then to some indeterminate? Time in the future when turtle is like an adult women married to Theo and some people are and it's so. Yeah Yeah I mean but it makes sense ending in reading today cranking passes so briefing fleeting and I'm such an easy mark for that stuff because of this book so that it's the first book I read as a kid. That was like grown-ups. Don't know any more than you do but like growing up is pretty Okay Lake you will. You will everybody. You see what happened to people like Doug becomes an Olympic runner and lake. What else happens grace opens all those restaurants. I don't remember Mrs Mrs who and ambassador who they start telling me like paper insoles that he had been and they get they become really rich and she learns how to speak English and also man and Mr who dies she goes back to notice and Crow Day. Yes Chris he gets married and his wife are just yes perfect. Yeah Judge Ford ends up on the Supreme Court like we said we do there. There are two separate time jumps like we mentioned in the first one. It's like gas now. She's on the Court of Appeals and man after that she's on the Supreme Court and I really appreciate Raskin's like dedication to accurately reflecting sort of the hierarchy of the Jake Wexler becomes like some kind of like crime commissioner for the state. Yes because he's an expert bookie he gets high crimes or something it's like okay. I love it And the crappy fool of himself Dr like he and Angela don't get married for a while and then and she's the diversion is that he grows as a person and then they do end up. She becomes a doctor. Yes yes ryan she also yes she goes back to college. She doesn't want to be defined by her relationship to the sky anymore but then once she is on that pass you comes back and finds that she has feelings for him after on so they get married and have a kid yes whose name is Alice. Which is what I only can. I can only think of Baba Which is what Flora bombeck the dressmaker call. Even though it's in and yeah and then the book ends with a Turtle Being Wexler being I forget where she kind of is in the paper products hierarchy. But she's on track to be. Yeah she's on track to be chair of the board counseling chess with ashes on track to be chairman. It's very like circle of life lifting Simba into the sky kind of ending. It's a lago on it and it's really in the phone book again like I can't separate it from what my brain what my brain is and kind of the way that I think about writing in the way that I think about community in the way that I think about every everyone you meet you. Don't you will only meeting? There's so much more to them like. There's just like everyone has their story. Yeah well that's the lesson game. Thanks for playing I think about that sometimes. I I can't I can't my brain will break if I think about it. What like that like. Just passing somebody on the street like they got their own whole thing going on your man and I just don't think what if that person was looking guys got us all own thing going on and I'll never know I would love if somebody else looked at me and thought that I had stuff. These are thoughts like I grew up in relatively small city suburban town and then I lived in Boston for a long time and being on public transportation. It's Blake makes you see the world in a completely different way every day. Oh Yeah.
