Somebody should do something. I find it really intriguing and this guy's story has grown on me since I first brought it to you guys a year and a half ago or so. He's consistently stayed on top of it. He sent me a multitude of things on text and an email that kind of in the beginning I was like brushing off, but the more I would look at stuff, I'd say maybe maybe. But we're so OJ down. We're so drunk on the OJ story that it's easy to just go off. I can't hear the story no more. It's sold. It's over. But then again, is it over?

They're very position within the organization and then finally is it economically sustainable Will this decision make good financial sense in terms of enabling the brand to continue accomplishing our goals and our mission Because you know that is the reality. At the end of the day. You have to be financially economically sustainable To accomplish sustainability as a broader term and concept with the work that you're accomplishing. So that's something. I go back to all the time and that's kind of especially for evaluating You know a new category or you know any any bigger decisions riemann like can we do this event you know. Sometimes it's stuff that basic because all of those things when you look at like especially for a brand like ours that has such a big Like process and production footprint in it. We have to be so mindful of the ways in which we get spread too thin very quickly. So i think that's to me. That's the crossroads of all of the meanings of sustainability. In these different stories were related and she was saying i try just to be like it's thankfully that's not my job if i was a judge or juror than it would have been my job but i can be interested in all the details on the case without having to think that i knew better than the jurors in the room who dedicated their lives two months of their lives that so i think the brings out this humility in us specifically when it comes to other people and i think at all brings up humidity us to realize how quickly we want to leap to having an answer. Even if it's ourselves there's nothing to do with our sumptious necessarily about other people but we want to have control. We want to have hope. We want to be protected. We want to be safe. And how often i notice since having this question that my decisions are based on an initial thought that i don't necessarily question if i'm not slowing down enough and doing my journaling and my wand exercises myself coaching. You'll one example from a a couple months ago is i. I interviewed someone for a job. And i wanted them to be the right person for the job so while i had explored them online and i had an interview with them. My brain also was filling in a ton of other ways in which they were ideal. By by these cases. What's your take on that I think? The watershed which is an awful lot immediately after the valid. And I understand it. I mean this was a high stakes trial. Which the Manhattan. Da. Couldn't afford to lose so they threw themselves out this only on the hands. I think as as many celebrity trials we have to be careful with Conclusions hair. I hope it will be a watershed moment. There's an awful lot wrong with how sexual. Violence is is investigated and prosecuted. But I have my doubts. I think the the real test will come when single women also group of women come forward to accuse somebody of rape without the media attention right without. Will the inefficacious if you will of the accuser has been an awful lot of emphasis on how powerful Mr Weinstein is but his accusers. Happen quite powerful as well. Essentially they had public opinion rooting for them. And I think the real test of whether the the Weinstein verdict will have a BRUDER EFFECTS. On how serious criminal? Justice Systems. Juries take these kind of complex claims will only come when we see an everyday victim. Come forward with with a typical claim of sexual assault. So what you're essentially saying. There is that celebrity. Justice is fundamentally different. I mean why do you suppose? That is I- celebrity justice in general is just is only certain. Becerra was it is just different from normal justice putting old big bright lights and attention onto someone being accused in this case Mr Weinstein. That's a typical way of injustice remedy a J Simpson trial which was essentially works like a soap opera. Essentially didn't have that much impact with how of the mothers were investigated then tried in Los Angeles and I think the same will be the case with the wider significance of the wanting conviction. Today that said there is of course important symbolic function to mocking. Somebody like Mr Weinstein up and holding his feet to the fire. So I said he wouldn't diminish the symbolic importance of seeing someone powerful like him wrote into a cooled. Convicted unlocked. Up is just going to be careful with suggesting that. Will the other huddles that stand? In the way of getting justice for everyday victims have now disappeared. I mean the one distinction here between Mr Weinstein's case and the OJ Simpson case is that Mister Simpson was was acquitted whereas Mr Weinstein has been convicted. Don't you think that that at least has sort of knock on effect sort of casts a shadow over over future cases gives future jurors a sense that That that there is an example being set there. Yeah maybe I mean future jurors in reminded with this case that rape doesn't look the way they think looks so it's been very helpful to have this very public lesson. If you will in rape myths that rape is a complex crime that said we pull people every year on their attitudes dissection. Rasmussen doing that. Insensitive metoo movement took off. And in that we don't really see much of a change in public attitudes to sexual harassment and indeed in America way would have hoped that reporting rates of sexual violence had increased most under reported binding crimes often me to after an initial bump reporting rates of back down to what they were before me to see. Let's see what happens next year. You know it always takes a while to get the kind of data but be careful with two inches at this point.

Anthony Lukas work in progress award welcome Rachel how are you I'm great thank you so much for having me this is an absolutely chilling pork and in many cases women in preparing for their own deaths I was told to ask you first though on your tour right you but you had some experience with domestic violence or something the savage irony yeah well three weeks ago I came home and I to a phone call that one of my closest friends brothers had killed his wife family here and it lives near me my daughter is really close friends with one of their two daughters and yeah so I'm frontline in my personal life with their right now on it just been unbelievable well let me start with this then to this is been about a week ago the twenty fifth anniversary of the OJ Simpson murder case the time it appeared in a criminal way she's got away with murder and attacked the reputation of the victims have at how things change in your mind since that event in some ways they've changed a great deal I mean we didn't have a federal law against child abuse in this country until the nineteen eighty four just a decade before Nicole brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were killed so if you look at it if you if you look at that view of history we've made quite a lot of progress since then what tracking it now we have all kinds of training that are out there we learned a lot but there are so many examples in fact since twenty seventeen three Alan homicide rate in this country has gone up thirty three percent it feels very much like a step forward or step back if you're looking at it from my point of view I know if you know this so but I'll just do it quickly we've had a a woman right in the next town over New Canaan Jennifer Davalos who disappeared and her husband who she had moved away from in fear of hurt his blood was found mixed with hers in her house and he was seated night disposing with his girlfriend thirty garbage bags lawyer since has said that she wrote a five hundred page manuscript years ago and they they're calling it gone girl the chief frame she wants to frame her husband for her fake murder now what they've changed it to revenge suicide and they've said she was mentally ill and as you know used car went and this what do you think about this kind of stuff right about that because it's really shocking I mean you know the price Hogan right with the four o'clock five John two sets of twins and I have twins so yeah I have a daughter myself I I mean revenge suicide you're gonna leave your children otherwise you know to a woman who's been in their lives who has never shown any sign anything it's ridiculous but you know what I mean all of these things speak to a sort of cultural almost cultural appropriation women in this country you know even when we are credible we are to be believed to be discounted we are to be dismissed in whatever way we can and I think you know one of the reasons I think the plastic mount homicide rate has risen to twenty seventeen is a retaliatory violence against women in particular women's anger at and also I would conclude men men with young men who are allies of the women's rights and women's equality I think we are all angry about about this I think we're all angry in this moment
