Starbucks' Howard Schultz defends union stance before Senate
"Longtime Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has defended the coffee giants union stance before a Senate panel, the testimony was often testy with Senate health, education, labor, and pensions committee chair Bernie Sanders, saying federal courts and the national labor relations board have found Starbucks guilty of labor law violations. The most aggressive and illegal union bustling campaign in the modern history of our country. Schultz fought back. Starbucks has not broken the law. Saying, while the companies willing to bargain with unionized workers, they don't need unions because Starbucks gives them good pay and benefits. We do nothing that is nefarious. We put our people first. Ex barista, Jason saxton, told a different story, saying Starbucks fired workers and cut hours after his Augusta Georgia shop voted to unionize last year. He led a two day strike in protest. I was fired after organizing like so many union leaders across the country. Saxton says big companies like Starbucks do whatever they can to deny workers a voice.

Dr. G and Chris Kohls Discuss the Imagery of "Conan the Barbarian"
"A little bit about the world that was created by mister Howard and also the man who I think probably more than anybody else before the movie. Helped us to visualize this world of Conan, and that's the artist Frank frazetta. So let's put up some of these incredible images. These were actually the covers of the novels in the 60s and 70s that I think, along with heavy metal in France, kind of helped to define a whole genre. So you don't get Conan, you don't get sword and sorcery. You don't get that whole subculture of media and movies without this, his Conan, the aged Conan the king, this is a whole world in and of itself, isn't it, Chris? Oh yeah, you know, everybody in the documentary that I watched the sort of behind the scenes documentary. Talked about these images, these paintings, and back then back in like the 70s, that was a really big deal. If you had amazing cover art, you mentioned you mentioned heavy metal magazine. Yeah. They made a heavy metal movie. And I just watched a YouTube video comparing the heavy metal movie with 5th element, the movie 5th. Totally. And they essentially ripped off the heavy metal movie. Yeah. Almost seen for scene, in some cases, with the 5th element. And it had that kind of influence in the 1970s that people don't really remember. I don't think. And I certainly didn't really understand this until I got much older because I wasn't around back then. So I didn't know about it. I was unaware. So what are these things that get to lost in time? We lose our perception of the things that influence the things that we love sometimes. And this

Aaron Rodgers Emerges From the Darkness
"Who's been a top contender for Friday's finest for the last few weeks. Has been the mercurial quarterback of the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers. Now, deciding that he did not want to retire under the same year Tom Brady did, and he wanted to continue to play. He's following that great packer tradition of leaving the Green Bay Packers and going to New York. It looks like if things can get everything settled. I mean, is there ever, I mean, this is almost like the Howard Hughes of football. I mean, just this reclusive, I'm going to sit in the dark for two weeks and then come back out and talk. And then when he actually came back out this week and said it on the pat McAfee show, well, I'm going to play and I intend to play with the jets. Well, I loved the I don't know if I'm going to try to I think it's a direct one. He said, I came out of the darkness and something was a little bit off. Like, yeah. Okay. The real world, buddy. You know, I just, I feel like every fan of every other team in the NFC north wants to hold a press conference to thank God for getting Aaron Rodgers out of their division. But realistically, it's something that bothers me. I think this is, this goes for pretty much anything. This is not, we don't even have to keep this to just sports, but the idea that he knew that he knows that he has enough power to a if they want to get rid of him, he can take as much time as he wants. If he really wanted to stay and cause a stink and their organization, he could do that as well. But now he gets to make demands to the team that's looking to get him. Think about all the power that that one man has because he can throw a football 60 yards without blinking.

Laura Ingraham: Fans of Reparations Want to Stereotype You As Jerks
"Lara Ingram last night on Fox News channel weighing in on this. Let's take a listen. But fans of reparations want to suck you into the debate in order to stereotype all of you as unfeeling uncaring jerks. Have been struck by the overheated and irrational response to this draft report. Those are my constituents who lost their minds about this proposal. It's not something we're doing or we would do for other people. It's something we would do for our future for our collective future and the generations to come. Wow. It would benefit our collective futures. How could anyone be against that? Now, reaching into your wallet to apologize for slavery is the least you people could do. Well, and of course, money talks. Just enhance for a law professor at Howard University, put it this way. If you're going to try to say you're sorry, well, you have to speak in the language that people understand. And money is that language. Recall that this debate began on college campuses decades ago. And then the idea really gained traction in recent years, especially after the death of George Floyd. And now, even African Americans who've enjoyed huge success in America, they think they deserve cash.

The Lowe Post
"o j howard" Discussed on The Lowe Post
"Most deeply about themselves personally, I'm their own biases that they may or may not be aware about. But the tone of the conversation has just got to chill out. There are three candidates for MVP right now. Jokic Giannis and embiid, everyone has fallen off behind them, not falling, it's not like Dončić and Tatum and et cetera have fallen off off, but they're all incredible. All three are incredible. An all worthy. As they have been for the last several seasons in which we have continued to rotate them around for the last time. And I have said, even in past seasons voting for jokic, if it's really close and you just can't find a separator that you like, maybe you don't like divorce and schnorr, that's fine. Maybe you don't like that you'll get only taking 14 and a half shots a game. That's cool. If it's literally splitting the thinnest of the hairs that are thinner than the ones on the top of my 45 year old head, if it's that thin, I think it's actually okay to zoom all the way out. Depending on what your preferences are as a voter. And consider history, consider postseason, both projecting how this player will does in the postseason going forward and has in the past. If those are tiebreakers for you if those things matter to you as a voter, they matter to me, maybe less so than other voters who are sitting here thinking every night about Larry Bird and LeBron James never winning three in a row and Michael Jordan never winning three in a row. It's fine if those are tiebreakers. That's cool. You want to talk about all these big cultural issues? That's fine. All I'm asking is this. And I am asking it, I'm asking two things. The first thing I'm asking is, do not yell and scream, like someone voting for the guy that's not on your team is a moron who knows nothing about basketball in life because they happen to think Giannis is the MVP and not jokic and I am here specifically not talking about fans or media. I am specifically talking about people like Daryl morey who has frankly been juvenile on Twitter and Daryl and I go back a long way, he's making these silly arguments about how it all goes back to Russ over Hardin in 2017, which is a vote neither you or I made. And Daryl morey is a steward of the game. He's a general manager of the sixers. Stop making fun of people who might vote for some other than embiid as if they're morons with your silly tweets of children playing little square peg round hole games. Michael Malone, stop ranting about how anyone who doesn't vote for jokic for MVP is like, well, I guess they just don't want this guy to be MBP. What game are they watching? No, the other guys are awesome. You guys are stewards of the game. Stop doing this. You should be above this. And I understand you got a campaign for your guy. That's fine. You can campaign for your guy without being like, you're a moron, if you don't vote for this guy, Daryl morey's tweet was like something about voters trying to parse team success in individual numbers. Daryl morey, you run the freaking nerd conference, you know better than anyone. The sixers one, I think, three more games than I'll get last year. They're point differential is like .2 points per game different. You know, there was no demonstrable difference in team success between the fourth seated sixers and the 6 seeded nuggets last year. You know that. So stop trying to make this stupid straw man argument about team success in an individual number. Stop doing it. You're all better than this. And the other thing I will say Howard Beck and then I will let you talk is, I keep seeing and it's driving me crazy. All of this stuff about, well, how can you give yoga C MVP when he hasn't done anything in the postseason? When did when did Joel embiid's postseason track record become better than jokic's? They're essentially equivalent. They've both had one season where they were swept out of that sweat, but dispatched easily in the first round with undermanned teams. That's last season for jokic, the bubble season for embiid when Simmons was hurt. Simmons is still hurt. That's a different story. They've both had several second round losses and one of them has made the Conference Finals. That is not Joel embiid. That's Nikola Jokić. And jokic's postseason numbers are just flat out better than it beats. They don't include defense. I understand that. All I'm saying is this, if you're going to make these arguments, make them reasonably. Go back and just go to basketball reference if you're going to say like jokic has done nothing in the playoffs. Therefore, in voting for embiid, just take 30 seconds and look at who's done more in the playoffs. That's all. I have no idea who I'm voting for. There are 15 games left in the season. I will say there have been more games in the last two weeks, Chicago, Toronto, just this week, where jokic's passivity has been like, dude, can you take some shots? Like, can you take some shots? I think that whole like he's not taking enough shots is overblown, considering how many shots he creates for others and that Denver is the second best offense in the league. But you know, look, I just wish we could have this conversation reasonably. And I guess we've reached a point where it's just not possible. Everyone is either right or a moron who should be throwing out of basketball and media forever should be fired on the street, lose their families, their children take away their house, take away their car. Like literally backed away from the mic just now as he wound down his right hand. It's supposed to be fun. And just like have a good time with it. Right. And I want to say this too. And this is not to let perk off the hook because the latest round of insanity, which has gone on for over a week now, did start with some things he said that were framed within inaccurate premise and then proceeded to other inaccurate statistics along the way. And I don't want to go into all that and great respect for perk and he's coming to this from a very different perspective as a former player. And that lens is important. And I think the conversation. I love perks been on my podcast. He's my friend. I read his entire book. It's really good. I have it on my shelf. I will get to it soon, I hope. But I want to let I want to remove him from the discussion on one level, which is that this thing is off the rails, but it went off the rails long ago. And it's not just this last week, and it's not just that, okay, now we're also talking about race, which as you point out, listen, racial bias implicit racial bias is a thing. It exists in the world. Studies have been done about implicit racial bias in policing in housing in bank loans in real estate. And all kinds of things. It's real, and yes, we should all consider it, but not within the context of the way that I think perk presented it because the way he did it and I'm just going to say this, he not only denigrated MVPs one by three all time greats, he impugned the integrity of the voters who made those votes as if those guys weren't worthy. Now, if we want to re litigate old MVP races, we can and especially one of Nash's has been relitigated many times since it happened, and that's fine. But to say that these guys weren't worthy or that the to imply. And he only implied it and I know perk has said I didn't say this. It was implying that the only reason they won was because they were white and that the voters were largely white and like that's like we're going off into a very unfortunate place there and it doesn't mean that we can't also talk about implicit racial bias, which again is real. It just means that saying that that's the reason or implying that's the reason they won, I think is a step too far, it implies that they weren't worthy. They were worthy. All of them. And I didn't vote for jokic the second year to be clear. And I didn't vote for national novitskiy because I couldn't vote those years because I was working for The New York Times, which doesn't allow its reporters to vote on awards. I voted for yoga. I wasn't covering the NBA then to be clear. So I love what I can just say, like, you can't blame me for this one.

Landslides, sinkholes, floodwaters plague soggy California
"Sinkholes of swallowed cars while floodwaters and mud have swamped towns as California deals with more wild winter weather. I'm Ben Thomas with a look at what's going on. Debris began to take the fence of our enclosure down and just bring in mud, trees and everything and destroy it. And we lost it. All of we lost our home and all of our belongings. Governor Gavin Newsom says at least 17 people have died from the storms. We've had less people die in the last two years, a major wildfires in California that have died since New Year's Day related to this weather in California. These conditions are serious and they're deadly. Millions remain under flood warnings and thousands have been ordered to evacuate homes and towns with histories of mudslides. Hundreds of thousands without power in forecasts show another storm system lining up to wallop California this weekend. We expect these storms to continue at least through the 18th of this month. We expect a minimum three more of these atmospheric rivers and different shapes and forms depending on different parts of the state. The magnitude of this is not isolated in smaller communities. It is scaled across the largest state in our union. Howard Berman and fountain grove has been cleaning the mud from its garage, but he's ready for more. The Left’s Unfair Destruction of the Fine Film 'Hillbilly Elegy'
"I watched a really solid movie on Netflix that's gotten a lot of buzz. Hillbilly elegy. Glenn Close and Amy Adams at their best their phenomenal. It's based on a bestselling book written by JD Vance back in 2016. And look, it's against the backdrop of Donald Trump's ascendancy. And JD Vance's story of his against the odds rise from being this kid with a terrible mom in the rust belt in poverty, how he got to go to an Ivy League school, it's a beautiful and a poignant look, and it's brutal that how poor folks can rise up and do well. That sounds all well and good, but the left hate this book and they hate this movie and it's so unfair and it's all because of the hate Donald Trump it's getting horrible reviews by critics and it's so disliked. I don't get it. The fact that this guy did what he did coming out of the rust belt and Kentucky in Ohio and. Bernie Brillstein Sad Tale of John Belushi’s Last Days
"We're sitting at the palm one day and my manager is telling him, hey, this is my man AJ, we got a lot of things planned and gossiped and TV show that and Bernie was listening. As he's picking food off the plate, and I said to him, can I ask you about John Belushi? And my manager Howard, you know, kind of kicking my knee under the table as if to say, come on, come on. No, no, no. But I could tell Bernie would be cool. And he said to me, yeah, kid, what do you want to know? And before I could ask a pointed question, Bernie launched into how difficult it was at the end to manage John the addict. Not the talent. To manage the addict. And one story stick stuck with him forever. And you could sense it when he told the story. It was kind of, I guess, customary for managers back then to well, maybe John asked him whatever, but Bernie had kept a bunch of money in his safe that John had earned, and he kept a bunch of it in a safe, so John wouldn't waste it on shit. He was looking out for him. And at one point, during his really crazy, hazy drug days, he visited Bernie and he wanted that money from the safe. He asked for 1500 bucks in cash, and Bernie said, no, no, I'm not going to give it to you, John. You're going to waste it you're going to blow it on drugs, bullshit. You got a lot of things happening. You got a movie script. You got two movies waiting for you. There was a movie he wanted him to make called the joy of sex. There was the fatty arbuckle movie and Bernie was thinking about all that money coming in. And 1500 bucks on a Friday night or whatever the fuck it was. No, that could be a bunch of problems. But John kept bugging him. It's my money, Bernie. It's my money, Bernie. I'm not going to give you the money. You're going to use it on drugs, John. But eventually, he relented and as he said to me, what can I do? It's his money. He earned it. How could I keep it from him? So he relented and later that day he gave Belushi the cash and the rest is history. He spent that money on a bunch of drugs, cocaine and heroin, and that's how he died later at the chateau marmont. Injecting a speedball into his arm. So Bernie always felt somewhat responsible for that death.

Chrissy Teigen Has Eyebrow Transplants—What's Next?
"I know Chrissy Teigen recently posted her face, which was tough to see. It's a close up. Posted her face showing how she got hair plugs in her eyebrows. Did you notice? She went and got a procedure. In between traveling with her husband John and throwing the giant tone deaf Squid Game dress up party the other day. She went to a guy, I love to see her date book. I really went with the shit she does. She went to a guy who fixed the eyebrows that she plucked their shit out of as a teenager and a young model. And since a lot of that hair never grew back, she was sick of always coloring it in, so she had the hair from the back of her head plucked out and got it transplanted into her eyebrows. I didn't know this was done. I wish they would have used their pubic hairs for this to make her look even nuttier than she really is. But there were so many questions and comments to make here guys, but can I just start with this? Hair from the back of one's head keeps growing. Especially with a woman. Whereas eyebrow hair doesn't quite grow at that speed or length. Now, can you imagine getting up close and personal like John on occasion does whenever he's not sleeping over and boys down? And seeing that face that shrunken apple of a face and not only seeing the cheek implants that she had put in, then taken out, but didn't quite take all of them out. Let's be honest. Revisiting the Great Film 'Network' With AJ Benza
"I want to. Give an homage to that beaty because he has a fantastic monologue in the movie network. But first I must tell you about Howard Beale. If you haven't seen the movie network, I guarantee you you will. But just so you know, Howard Beale was the longtime evening newscaster for the union broadcasting system, otherwise known as UBS, and he learned from friends and the news division president max Schumacher, played by the great William Holden that he had just two more weeks on air because the ratings were shit. And they both go out that night and they get shit faced and they talk about the state of their industry and how much it's changed and they're like two soldiers in a foxhole. They get it is not much they can do about it. So the following night Howard Beale announces on live television that he will commit suicide on next Tuesday's broadcast. And the network tries to fire him immediately after this, obviously, but Schumacher intervenes. So that Howard bill can have a dignified, farewell. What you need to know about journalism, whether it's a newscasting position or a columnist or what have you is when they fire you, you don't get to say goodbye to your people. And that's it really hurts. And one of the things I'm really grateful about is when Pete Hamilton told me, I think it's time we separate, he allowed me to write my final column. And that meant the world to me. But there are so many people who don't get that chance. So how would Bill promises that he will apologize for the outburst, but once on the air, he begins to launch into a rant? Claiming that life is bullshit. And his outburst causes the newscast ratings to go through the roof. It's what we need nowadays. And it's not coming from C fucking NN or MSNBC or CNBC. It's not coming from those channels.

AJ Reflects on the The Death of Character Actor Ned Beatty
"There was a death in the Hollywood family tonight tonight being Sunday and that is of Ned Beatty, a wonderful character, actor, who was terrifying in deliverance with Burt Reynolds and John Voight and the gang, but he did, I think his best work in the movie network, which as you know, a week or two ago, top one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. Now, to understand about Ned Beatty, you have to understand the movie network and. The person in network, obviously a lot of people have a lot of people know the term. I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore. And probably 40% of you don't know where that comes from. It comes from the movie network and it comes from the actor who played Howard Beale who was a I don't want to say a crazy debt work on air talent, but somebody who'd had it and began to see the future and decided to tell the truth about America. And it's like, it's somebody we need now. And sometimes I feel that the way I speak on this show is the closest we come to a Howard Beale.

"The NFL season kicks off Thursday night matchup We're going to hit that 10 40. In fact, you don't we're going to do. We'll go back to back to back top of our number three miles Gaskin running back for the Dolphins last segment of the show. We're talking White Sox baseball. The RNC's will be joining me at 11 40. This is how it all sets up, Start calling. It is finally here, right? The first game of the NFL season Cowboys V bucks. All the stars will be out. Dak Jarrah, Ed Sheeran, Everybody And maybe if we're really lucky, Tom Brady will actually put down his phone and kicking. Quit complaining about the numbering schemes actually play some football. Stupid rule. Tom Rule. Stupid Rule. Stupid Rule! Stupid! Take stupid rule. Pretty remarkable to see a defending Super Bowl champ coming back as loaded as the box. Are. They return every starting player on both sides of the ball from a team that won it all last year. I mean, you can make an argument that from a pure talent standpoint, this crew is actually better than the one that won it all last year. Pretty much. Anyone who did anything in the playoffs last year is back this year, O. J. Howard is back from his injury. The secondary, which was young last year, has another year of experience and playing and coming through in pressure situations. So what I'm saying is, I don't really remember the last time I saw defending champion with so few questions, so rounding them. The only question is, how good will this team be? Can they be better than the team? They want it all and has the comically large rings to show for it. So almost no real questions about that team. Maybe TV 44. Maybe it's just a year that he shows up and he's old, You know, fighters once in a while they fight. They fight they fight, And then one night they get in the Rhenish is gone. Their shot Suddenly they can't get off. Is that the year that that happens to Tom Brady? I don't know. I tend to doubt it. Cowboys, on the other hand, have lots of question marks. Question marks all over the place, namely staff press got healthy, according to reports, Yes. What's he going to look like? And how will he respond? The first time it takes that one big shot because you know the bucks and that dominant front seven are coming for this guy and he did not played on the preseason, So there really is no way for us to know where he's at mentally and physically. I would never question Dax grid or his toughness or his hard, but the fact remains, he has not played a game. In nearly a year, an actual NFL game 340 days since he suffered one of the nastiest injuries you are ever going to see. Since then he's undergone two surgeries and tacked on a shoulder injury. So again if anybody can come back from injury and adversity like that, it is Dak Prescott. But I need to see it in a game situation and this guy is being thrown right into the fire. Yes, He's got weapons to get the ball to. Yes, Ezekiel Elliott is coming off his worst season ever but has leaned out and looks good, But you're only as good as the guys in front of you. And they could be without the best of the bunch. If all pro guard Zach Martin can't go So is Martin going to go tonight? Willie. Hey, let's not get into that. He had been ruled out and put on the Covid list, ruled out, then ruled maybe then ruled out, then ruled maybe again. He did not travel with the team to Florida. But according to the Cowboys website, he could theoretically still fly there on his own for the game if he does pass Covid tests, two of them 24 hours apart. So easy or is name who knows? Stephen Jones told a local radio station yesterday. That quote it's looking like a stretch end quote that Martin will play tonight. Tell what it looks like to me. If he does not play tonight, they're screwed. I mean, they're pretty much screwed even if he does play tonight, but it could go really badly and get really embarrassing. If he doesn't go. In fact it could get catastrophic. If he doesn't go and they can't protect deck. I know that nobody gets all that fired up to talk about the interior of an offensive line. But when you're talking about a four time all pro, a six time pro Bowler, a member of the 20 ten's all decade team despite being drafted in 2014 And a guy who most likely is going to be fitted for a mustard blazer. You don't just next man up a dude and a player like that. And I don't care how much experience the Cowboys have on that line or how good call McGovern in Israel as a replacement. Unless this guy Steve Hutchinson or Forrest Gregg or Randall McDaniel, they're going to Miss Martin for sure. And then while Dak and Zach are a couple of big questions, they pale in comparison to the questions on that Dow is D, which was absolute garbage last year and my right Pacman garbage. Garbage garbage. I mean, find me a better word to describe that cowboy defense last year, then garbage garbage. Find me a better word. Give it to me right now. A better word than garbage, Garbage. All right, so I know the big head will go to his go to and say that they were ass. To rip your thunder before your segment head, So I'm just going to say that that defense was garbage, garbage. I mean, how much better.

"So it shouldn't be too big of a deal. Other than the fact that you're missing out on having Zack Martin, one of the best guards in the game, and he's got it in the best guard. Give me the best guard. I even heard McGlinchey talking about that going from, you know, left side flip it around and Notre Dame and then a little bit early with the 49 ers. Like you would think some things are easy about Penny. Saul directly heard him today. Coming in on on serious, But, yeah, I mean, McGovern is going to be a drop off. And but it doesn't matter, Even if Zack Martin is there to Tampa Bay Bucks team is I mean, everybody talks about their defense. I can't we do their offense Looks like with with full reps and a B now healthy and I mean, I don't know if O. J. Howard factors in the offensive time this year, but he's back. He's there is an option. I mean, you got God. When you got Evans, you got running back. You got a good old line. I mean, another year with the system for Brady. These bucks team is going to be sick. Dude, they're going to be really good right? There could be good. All right. So in the Cowboys way, in addition to Washington and Philly could be the New York football Giants will wrap up our final feeling good about the G men this year Take I am you should be. I think you guys have some talent first time in a while, Um we'll chat with their tight end. They picked them up from Minnesota. That is Kyle Rudolph. The G men wrap up our 22 days. That's next. Gotta get the deadliest. Gm used to be deserted. Like how i listen you listeners. The one thing that i always. I can't say i i try to go about it like you did but i didn't. I don't think i quite achieved the you know how like you had. You had a way. I know where you get it from nowhere you know saying. Just talk about the toughness inside. You been putting on this back remember. It was something was it. Will you with the heat when you had to go up. Pre-game light yo. Yo like say at like. In that moment. I was looking. I know it's happening right now but like this talk about. I don't know how you was able to mess the professionalism but still be able to pull chicago out. Will you need to let them know. Today never went nowhere. Yeah man it's a. It's a very unique trait that you do possess because like me like chicago. Come out his out. I can't really take you back now. So he'll say like you care from your member to one moment. I remember both was new. York moments one was saying versa teammate. And another one was versus. An opponent was playing in boston. I'm not gonna name. His name is like oh. That's my young boy married to ask my frogman man. Watch out well. You need eight assists. We're here for you but you know q. Mad they get is Sometimes i i'm going to say i i want every fight going up like lice scam factors always been that you know people mistake that and then also people look at it. You know wouldn't gotta smiley face and you respectful with everyone. And sometimes they will take that lightly but what we come from is when you reach that level step over that that rope and you try to like you know really test the man's manhood then i'm gonna see rate and when i get see red. It's going to be tough to bring me back but i'm respect. Everyone and whenever i get disrespected then that's the time when i got i got defend myself but they. We got a chance to see that. This past season when i was coaching the tournament and tournament. Bring back up but like you know that that was where you know. I'll i can't let no man draw the line by line. Man get my space because once you live one time then he or others will feel they can do the same thing and At the same time like you know research respect love that it has to be you know regardless that respect level has to be on both levels and reciprocated the part. I commend you on. Is that even though that happened. You came right out immediately and you're accountable you accountable yourselves in front of your players team as you tell them that you know that. Wasn't you know the right way to handle it although you shed light and gave insight into what happened and why it happened in you know somebody said we all nobody's perfect and everything like that. But like i have to go out of my way to salute jew for being away you are because you make it possible for other guys like you know what i'm saying. It's plenty of guys is retired from the nba. Play and you know would love to be coaching. And you know. I think it's stigma out that you and big pack go against because they say big men can't coach and all of that crap and blah blah blah and so. I made the way that you guys use. Stack out all the guys out there. Anybody missing his going out there. Coaching in the league and as well as in college head coach giles. Setting the table. By the way you you because you know how to win the women's status well but like you know how they look at us. We come through the door to do whatever the first thought is dead hickama player to think they're going to get treated like a player so like the fact that you label go in there and roll your sleeves up in really grind it out and show the i don't have none of that in me. I'm willing to work on learning like everything you said early. Like you gotta learns mentality of growth mentality all those different things that makes it so much easier for the next. Do who deserves opportunity like you and people who weren't getting those positions like you see it ain't no secret light. Might listen got the job. He'd been a head coach. He got that job completely. I feel like based upon your success that you had just had and they looking at it like man we could try and catch some that excitement in about a he's a alma mater and all of that stuff alumni school a prestigious. Do so i feel like when it needs to be highlighted that you go out there doing things the right way even from when you were at the heat you saying doing things the right way going about it the right way grinding and really working because you know i'm gonna scott and you know he knew always all up in the business over there and i'd be asking like what's going every single thing i ever heard jawad doing this. You doing great this working at that. He's learning he's dennis. Like you continue to be that example for me to how nelson go about everything. I go about ensuring be to. This is the right way to go because look at this this. This is what you've been looking at the whole time. He's continuing the change of gaming prospering. Do more great things. Because i didn't never see being a college coaching winning college national coach of the year. Doing all of these great things and recruiting in getting recruiting classes. And all that. But i mean obviously it makes sense because you want us who would wanna go play for somebody who's been through literally everything that you wish. You could go through saying like you. Didn't you didn't places. Did people aspire to get to and want to. So i mean i just feel like that need to be said l. Gecas i really not. That's impact in a way that this is in done in the future man. I appreciate that man. Thank you for knowledge in it. You know. I just always said this man. Would i got this job is bigger than me and it's not about me. It's about you know the guys that you just touched on is that are look like me and one have this opportunity. Been working so hard. Haven't had a chance yet. Guys looking forward to have an opportunity and for me to come in be trusted by our ad who someone who looks like me and to go out on a lamb and how he got beat up in the media for choosing me as a coach to run this program. Because i'm used to saying used as stay. I'm not used to dance. And i'm saying it right so you know that choreography. And so then we got that together. And then we continued on from The rest of that Promotional tour which. If i'm getting a i'm trying to get. I'm at the point now. Where i'm i'm even trying to get the timelines together because i'm i'm writing a book. I wanna ride my book. You know suddenly get these timelines together myself. So when i got a i got there in new jersey. It had been winter time. Because i had to. I had to buy overcoat. Because i didn't have an overcoat so i went to. This does a clothing store in new jersey. Things god heaven on earth or something like that in now and bought his overcoat. You know so so. That was so it had to been like about maybe november November center october november december time. And then we finished up that promotional tour at the copacabana. You know at In new york and then as soon as we flew back to back to la which was the beginning of seventy nine. I believe it was seventy eight. The league beginning of seventy nine We started immediately recording. The big fun album went in and started. Put that hold it all together and took us. It took us four five six months or so four or five months old to do the whole album and and and then put then we put So we went. So that takes us into towards the end of seventy nine you know the middle mid towards the end the seventy nine and then put second time around out there and second time around i was kinda creeping up the charts. You know what i'm saying but it wasn't a win until we did a remix at back then that's when remix is real big. You know what i'm saying. Inches mental vince south. Forget who did the remix. We did a remix on it. Put it out there Screamed up charge so like that was towards the end of end of seventy nine into eighty. You know what i'm saying. So it was like from that time than we had hit record in eighty. Wow okay describe what working with. Leon silvers is like Intense do you have any Big lewis stories to go with it. And i'm playing. It was not one point. Because leon is like a stickler for backgrounds and stuff like that. I mean just like stickler for backgrounds. And then we went to geneva switzerland and that because i bought we bought seventy eight. Nineteen seventy eight in in geneva switzerland and then we went onto Benadryl spain santer brave france. We are lower place as making two fifty three hundred the week. "You're sitting at home, your position players, whatever. Maybe, and you're like, Hello. Hey, this is Tom Brady. Yeah, Come on, Joe. Quit messing around me, You know, and that's kind of that's the kind of player he is. In the respect that he that he's earned from the game, and you can see by the way they play that it not only proletarians and cod find Jason, right, but it is just the players. Every player respect Tom Brady. You mentioned drunk a second ago, and he certainly bring something to first of all. You have Brady and drunk one of the greatest combos of all time. In your building. We know what they've done on the field. The championships they've won. He also brings an element off fun. Obviously, anybody who's ever watched drunk or his interviews will see that talk about his impact on the organization. I just remember the quote that we had with Jason light when we're talking him right before Super Bowl week, he said. If you're ever having a bad day Coast spend a couple hours with drunk and your day will be made. You will never have it down day again. And that's the kind of in fact he has On people. And that's exactly the same kind of impact that grant brought to the organization. Not just Tom Brady in that locked room that Broncos won three Super Bowls on good professional and the work ethic, and I think that's really the difference is the workout like not what the fuck's didn't work hard before, But they work differently when you saw guys who brought in ring and they brought in results. Canadian bring in promises they brought in. Hey, I did this. This is what we did, and this is how we did it. Players will listen to guys like that. And I think that those two guys in particular with Gronkowski and what he's done with the younger guys and Cameron break, talked about how excited he was. Just get out and meet him. In the field For the first time you had O. J. Howard get a lot of young tight end their heads in the years under the belt, but Robert Kowski brought a different dynamic to the tight end room. And a lot of fun on Yes, he takes the game serious, but at the same time he's having as much fun as he possibly can before he puts on the past after he puts on the fastball. He's got him on that's rubbed off on a lot of players on her teeth. I'm joined by Mike Karen's Spectrum Bay News nine sports anchor and host of Spectrum sports. 3 60. We're talking about the Super Bowl and the box. And do you get the sense from Brady and Gronkowski that they're really enjoying this one? Not that they didn't enjoy the ones in New England, but they're doing it with the new team. New environments. It's just It's different for them. Do you get the sense they're having Maybe a little bit more fun with this one? Absolutely. And I think the big reason. Why is that carrot? That was Daniel. They were gonna Tom Brady before the season started that they needed to the Super Bowl. They will be the first in the history of the league. He's playing the game on our own field, and that was a big deal for Tom Brady. He mentioned that from the moment He got behind the microphone the first time we met him that how much that close in instead of not just for him, But for his key late and now you can see it because you talk about story line one of the big story lines. Another big story line is the factor of buckskin sleep in their own bed. They get to report to their own building. They do all their meetings like they normally would like. It was a normal game week. The Chiefs going even arrived here until Saturday, The box will be on the roll locker room. This game. So there's a lot of incentive to get here to this point. And for Tom Brady and Gronkowski to this stuff in need never know that those two need instead of it all, but to know if the end of the road when they got the biggest game of the year, they would be playing it on their home field in Tampa on that That was a very, very big deal shifting over to the Chiefs for a second. What stood out About them. I mean, really, The story is Patrick Mahomes, who was pretty much solidified himself is the best player in the game today. Any story lines or subplots tied to the Chiefs that you're paying attention to. The biggest one has to be their offense that the high high 14 offensive league average or almost Floyd's yard game. It's ridiculous what Fatima Holmes has done in the short time. He's already got a Super Bowl ring and Now he's back here looking to make it a back back rank. It's just this is a unique keen and they're just you look at him and the connection with these ad with Tyree Kill. Travis Kelsey. And that's just the three headed monster that a lot of things I'm not figured out this year and Bruce Dairy and talk about it because it I'm glad we made it to the Super Bowl. But I'm not looking forward to facing mom healthy, entire rekindle because they Retail lit him up or 200 yards in the first quarter of the week 12 matchup, But I think a big deal for them. It's just become out, and they've been here done it before because they were here last year, so not the stage is not too big for them either. And I'm not saying they've been here. 10 times like Tom Brady has Once you've been there once you know what to expect. And while the bucks Get the steak at home, sleeping home and get ready for the game. So the chief that she's got the state home report to their place of work and go to meetings and break down film, And the only day that they have to worry about traveling is Saturday, the day before game and we stepped out on the field Sunday, so I'm not sure the big dance played home to be on. The Chiefs are doing the same thing. Third home as well. And they won't be here in Tampa in field Saturday. It's going to be interesting because it was interesting to the justice that I made Ryan within the game. I'm both in outstanding job. In the second half of that game, gave up just seven points. Walks out scoring 17 7 and respected half almost won the game, came back and won the game. And Devin Wright was talking about that this week that in Todd Bowles, they try, they know and they eat course they don't give away the game plan, but what they've gone through what they dialed up this week. It kind of started what they did in the second half the adjustments that both names On. It's gonna be interesting to see And then you read talked about it this week. The Chiefs, often.

He's been impeached twice. Whatever it is, it is. Are they so frightened about the trumpster arising in 2024 to run again that is going to try to get him convicted. Then require him not to be subject whatsoever to another election that you and I may want to vote for Trump. I voted for him twice may vote him again in 2024. If he runs depending upon who he's running against him what the circumstances are. We needed the Trumpster in 2016. The Democrats said the election was rigged. And Trump won. That's what the Democrats said. Something like 57. Democrats boycotted the inaugural who said it wasn't legitimate that Trump's election was wrong. I mean, he didn't cover it that way, but that's what occurred. The same thing's happening with Republicans now about Joe Biden. One is seditious, and the other one is free speech. He already knows that fella checks out. So now the time to sign the proven I get it If you got the hardware Sure. He needs to step up to the plate. Yeah. But in in comparison, everybody else It's like if Tom Brady and even forget this game in particular, I'm know I'm going past things. If Tom Brady does not win another Super Bowl. What What? What does that change? He does nothing changed his life. And his legacy stays the same. Yeah. And the pressure to win the game. Yeah, but for what reason he came back. Didn't have anything to prove other than I can win without Bellagio, and I don't think it's Yeah, I don't even know I don't think so. I think he is playing a because he wants to play. He wants to win Super Bowls. And my, um I'm pretty sure Yes. Is there something for him to say? Hey, I did it without him. Yes. But I don't think that's at the top of the list. I think he wants to play because a he can, and he can still do it. Obviously, at a high level he wants to add to his legacy. And I think Bill Bella check is, you know it's it's a side. Obviously, it's a part of it. But I don't think that's the motivating or driving factor for him to go out there and get chased around by fat guys on Sundays, you know. Oh, yeah, I hear you. I'm just saying I appreciate you, Eric. Thank you for calling. Okay to think, no doubt about it. Dan is calling from Hawaii. Dan, you want CBS Sports radio? Hey, man, just real quick about my home as you all know that he's probably going to play but hopefully healthy enough and it will be okay. But As far as Josh out. Good. I didn't say anything to go. Okay, well, but I thought I thought I was doing my bad notices The voices those of the voices in your head, Dan, Go ahead. I guess so. Okay, there's Josh Alan. I mean, I got a good period called. I'm sure you're anxious, but For me. I mean, this is first time in their C championship game, he's gonna have conceivably multiple chances to be a least playoff contenders to become elite in the future. For me What the elite guys when you're at that level, more's expected, and I grew the previous caller again that Brady is the second most under pressure because you know he wants to win without Bela Chick, and he wants to become The first quarterback to win his own stadium become the undisputed goat. But for me, the most pressure is Aaron Rodgers. Like someone said, I mean, he had the won the title since 11. His team got owned last year again an NFC championship game. And, you know, he wants to get in that goat discussion that TV there. What? Well, Dan I don't think it's amount of him wanting to get anywhere. He's there already. And this is No, I'm not. Well, No, I will disagree with you. Think anyone with half of a brain Will legitimately go ahead and tell you Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks ever. That is. I don't think that's that's disputed. You know, I read Everything all day. You are not going to see Reed, listen here for most people who will not say that he is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play. You telling me that that's not true? I agree, but for me, he's top 10. If you want skin top five. You need to win at least three titles. And you're going against a girl at home in the Champ ship game. Let's see what happens. Okay. Well, thank you, Dan for calling up from Hawaii. I appreciate you. I'm glad we all have to obey what Dan says. John is calling from Detroit. John you are CBS Sports radio. The J R did even a man Understand obvious that thing going on Brady. I don't the forest. It's gotta be Brady. I'm telling. He even admits that he gets nervous before games. He's he knows that he's the goat. But he we're just gonna take this in and this is I got a feeling we're gonna be talking about this game. 50 years from now It's gonna be like we talked about Joe Nemeth against Johnny United. E mean, he might as well call the game Now he might as well call it. Yeah, he's going into a Lambo. I mean, even though the fans aren't there, we're gonna be talking about this, because you know is during the pandemic, and it's like Randy Johnson going into Fenway against Curt Schilling. You know, it's the pressure is on Brady and I just got a feeling well, we're just getting this is a treat for us. You know this? This is this is gonna be an amazing game. I got a feeling thank thank you for John also, thank you for reminding me that those two guys teamed up and just kick folks asked for a minute, too. So Thank you. "The week to some everything surrounding Patrick Mahomes is taking all of the oxygen, but I want to start this morning with Peter with regards to something. With Tom Brady. He, of course, is the author of football Morning in America, and I've heard so many people say when they wake up Monday morning. Peeters spends all of Sunday night writing it feverishly. It's the very first thing they click on Monday morning, Incredible insight around the league and check it out for sure, Peter. Good morning You spoke with Bruce Arians took a little shot there and Bill Bella checking the Patriots saying, Essentially, I'm gonna Paraphrase here that New England wouldn't let Tom quote unquote coach the team something he is allowed. And then he took a little shot of Chase. Young too. We'll talk about that in a second. What did you make of that comment? Put it in context. He said it to you areas of the little broadside on Bela Chick. Uh, Zubin. Thanks for having me. Uh, you know, I think the big thing about areas is that, uh He almost enjoys the you know he enjoys the competition verbally and on the field. Uh, you know when I asked about facing Aaron Rodgers Something I didn't write on Monday. He goes well, we face them once we did pretty well, he said a few things about how they crushed the Packers. It was the worst game of Roger season. You know, we're not afraid of him and all that, but I think if it relates Embellish it, I think Look, I went on a very short training camp trip this year, but I did spend two days in Tampa. And I watched two very long work days on the field. And on the first day I saw Tom Brady. We actually got video of this and put it up at NBC Sports Star Calm Tom Brady. Basically directing and coaching O. J. Howard on the field about how to come out of a cut. And look is key son would know there's so many of the finer points to catching the football and putting it in a spot. Because the windows they're so small in the NFL, and that day, I bet he spent 15 minutes total with O. J. Howard any, even though Howard's Hood and isn't hasn't finished the year, I'm sure he's done that with every receiver on this team, So I just think Arians sometimes just sits back and lets Brady do what he's I think what Brady has wanted to do for a long time, and I don't know that he never coached or never, you know, corrected receivers in New England. That might be a little bit of a myth. But for areas it's fun to kind of poke the bear. You know, I laughed and chuckled at that, Peter because you basically Said What I've been saying that Zubin all alone that that is somewhat and look That's somewhat of a myth. Every single quarterback I've ever had even the worst ones that never got in the game. Always coached the receivers up about certain positions. What we're thinking so we can get on the same page. I just asked you or someone who who's been knowing me since college. Why in the hill? Is Bill Bella Chicks name? And Bruce Aaron's mouth. I just don't get it. Bill's trying to get ready to 2021 season and you're trying to get ready for the Green Bay Packers. Why Because I think one of the things that area's prides himself on Is to get lead. Veteran players do veteran player things, and I don't think he's saying Bellatrix and idiot. I think he's just saying We're allowing. Tom Brady could be the veteran old man coaching presence that maybe wasn't allowed to be in New England now. As you said that key. The one thing that occurred to me is after the Super Bowl when he came back from 28 23 down. I remember asking Brady about some of the throws he made to a pedestrian receiver. In that Super Bowl. Chris Hogan. The back shoulder throws that just totally embarrassed the Atlanta Falcons and I said to Brady You know, why are you so in tune with a guy like Chris Hogan is his first year and all this? You've never been a great player in the league. Why you going to him and over time of the Super Bowl, and he said to me, Peter 122 practices So that allows guys like Brady Hogan, Uh, and look this year. Somebody like Scotty Miller, who nobody really knows. Radius taken under his wings. So look, I don't know. You know, Arians is just that kind of guy If I say he likes to poke the bear. Yeah. Peter Keene football morning in America joined us. He shot J Will and Zubin Peter, you've been around this league for a very, very long time and is covered Every single quarterback, all sorts of teams, coaches and everything. Will Patrick Holmes play on Sunday? I think he will, but that's just a guess. On my part. I talked to Chad Henny after the game on, he said he CEO seemed really good to me. You know when When Henny came in the locker room after the game, Uh, Mahomes congratulated him. They made small talk all that and then the homes. Hold up the tweet that he had just sent out. You were in and I had to go back and look at this, and I remembered it vaguely. But then I had to go back and look at it. 13 years old when Kevin Garnett after the Celtics won the NBA Championship, whatever 708 you know, he screamed to the on floor interviewer after the game. Anything is possible. And just like how old it to the sky because he was so Excited. And so Mahomes put up this video with that. Basically saying anything is possible, and I can't tell you what I heard in Chad and his voice. Just then, But it was like this was the nicest thing that anybody had ever done to him. Here is the brightest star in the National Football League. Patrick the homes Doing this for his teammate and what you hear from everybody is what a great teammate Patrick Mahomes is, and he did that for Henny so that he could show it to him after the game. Very, very cool, but as far as whether he'll play or not. He said. I think you you said it when you saw him Sprint off the field. He was woozy for awhile, obviously, and then he sprinted off the vehicle locker room. I get the impression That the chief think he's going to play, But that's just an impression I get. Nobody's saying anything because he's got to go through the protocol. Peter let's go from one star to another on Kansas City. How surprised are you that Eric, The enemy is probably going to get passed over again for a head coaching job. Well, J That's a great question. And I'm not positive. He will get passed over. I think the Houston Texans need Eric the enemy right now. And if that is the only job available after the season.
