"Zone entries in this series not that the oilers defensive are carrying in the pockets because they generally defer to their forwards, but just sort of shows how well he's been skating and moving it up the ice. But that goal is Gord was like a teaching tool for young defensemen, right? Because I think it was after this extended offensive zone shift and the puck comes up to when the point and instead of just wasting a shot by putting it from distance on net, he kind of funnels it below the goal line allows the cycle to continue and then as space opens up, he darts down, fills the lane, Ryan mccloud, hits him, and it's a beautiful goal. And I was like, yes, this is what this is the way you need to play in the modern game. And so it was cool to see that transpire and him be rewarded for it. So I just wanted to give him a little bit of a shout out there. Is there anything else in this series that you think is sort of notable here as we as we sign out that we didn't touch on yet? I mean, I guess the only other facet is a big one in that school turning and we've had two goaltender related goal cutters pulled it back to back games. Now obviously skinner going up for the oilers and corporate salad on game 5. So I don't know. The offense has certainly been there for both teams. I would expect that to continue, but aside from the one real expectation that I have is McDavid and dry subtle staying together for game 6, but otherwise, I mean, expect the unexpected in this series, right? It's been, I haven't been able to watch the other series, maybe it's closely as you have, but it seems like this one has been the most entertaining and the most the one with the most unpredictability, but swings in it as well.

"So it's cool to see because it's obviously visually it's wildly different compared to what we've been accustomed to in past years and I'm curious to see if that continue, especially in future matchups. One final note here on the oilers before we get out of here, I do have to give my guy Brett kulak. Some love because he was phenomenal last postseason. Every single show I did talking about the oilers I was praising his game. He had I was tracking all the numbers at the time. He had the best numbers of pretty much any oilers defenseman in their matchups last year. And then he fell off, he regressed this regular season, right? And I think part of that was, especially before the Matthias at Colton trade, I think a bit too much on his plate being stretched a little thin and being asked to do too much, much like many other oilers, defensemen. And that's why the ecomm trade made so much sense because it allowed everyone to fall into a more natural spots. And so I guess on the one hand, he looks so good in these games and especially in game 5, he just flying, right? He had that one coast to coast rush. He seems to be involved every time he's out there, good things are happening. He finally gets rewarded for the goal in that game as well. And so I think the temptation is like, all right, well, he's playing so well. We need to find a way to get him more minutes and bump him up the death chart and get him more involved. But I would imagine that the way Jay woodcroft is thinking about this and the way probably it makes sense is, well, we've seen kind of what that looks like and how you can get diminishing returns. And so you have to fight that urge a little bit because it feels like these ebbs and flows in his performance that I just mentioned can be directly attributed to the fluctuations in ice time and this is probably where he

"Canucks before and after the games, Canucks central was Dan riccio and Satya Shaw. Subscribe and download the show on Apple Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. We're back here in a hotel cast with any major boomer talking kings oilers during this big extended break between games 5 and 6 in the series. Daniel, so we talked a little bit about, especially at the start of the series, how McDavid's line wasn't generating 5 one 5 goals, how they're getting outscored, still for the series, even after this adjustment. The oils are getting outscored if I want to file with McDavid on the ice. And the reason I bring that up is the knock, McDavid's play, but the point out that how just previously as recently as I think last year, it would have been unthinkable in a series like this for the oilers to be winning a series and on the precipice of closing it out. Given that fact, just how reliant they were on him to do the heavy lifting, how big a share of the offense he was responsible for. And so I think that's a good segue for us here to talk a little bit about the bottom 6 or I guess more aptly the bottom 5. In this case with after Matthias mark's injury, but their play has been phenomenal, I think that is a big differentiator between the quality of this club and the kind of their viability and the postseason this year compared to past incarnations, right? It's the fact that they're not so reliant on one line anymore that they can at least keep their head above water when they're best players aren't on the ice. And that's you're not really going to be able to replicate the ability and the game breaking potential that your star players have, but at least not just having it all completely given away the second they step off the ice and go on the

"He does a significant part of his damage off the rush on the move. He's the best skater in the world. And so you think of them kind of playing fast in particularly in earlier stages of Euler's hockey when they were kind of more run and gun a high scoring. That's what you would think of when you think of oilers games. And in this series, they've really punished the king's on the ground, so to speak, right? They've had these long stretches and offensive zone where they're cycling the puck around, getting a different neck getting chances. And through these 5 games, I've got the shots off the cycle at 51 to 30 for the oilers if I one 5, which is a pretty massive gap. And so maybe that speaks to, I said earlier, they kind of take the identity of their best player, which is Connor McDavid, in this series, their best player has been Leon Dreyse, and he does a significant part of his damage through that cycle game. And so maybe that kind of speaks to that element as well, where he's really sort of left his fingerprints on this series and taken over, and that's reflected by the way lawyers are creating a lot of their chances. Yeah, I think there's a couple of points to touch on there for me. And I think you're right that the lawyers have traditionally been known in the quantum game, but they're especially recently as a rush team. There's no question that everyone knows what he can do off the rest. Yes. I think dry sad is a little bit that way to not quite the same, but he likes to dish off the rest of the great special out the back end. Of course, yeah. And they have the horses to be able to do that, led by those two. But you know, I put run using Hopkins kind of in that vein shooting off the wing and things of that nature.

It's kind of a weird time to be on with my gap in this series, but probably good time to reset it too, right? So I'm happy to come on and we'll make sure we got lots to talk about with this crazy series. Yeah, on the one hand, I've really enjoyed all of the games and I look forward to it. I've been waking up in the morning and checking the NHL schedule to check if king's oilers is on. And that given night at the same time though it is nice to have this break just to reset a little bit to reevaluate to go back and look at some stuff. And for us to talk about it, right? Because it gives us a little breathing room here. We can put this out, people can listen, get ready for the game 6 on Saturday night. There's a lot of fun stuff going on. So let's break down the first 5 games here and kind of look at it from all angles, the good, the bad kind of stuff to consider what we've seen. I think from my end, I'm curious if you feel this way for all the talk about the oilers reliance or over reliance at times on this historically great power play and certainly in this series that hasn't changed, right? They have 8 power play goals in like 20 minutes or so. I don't know how many opportunities they have, but just a ridiculous rate of conversion so far in the series. The story for me is actually how they handle the kings at 5 one 5. It was kings are a really good 5 one 5 team, particularly defensively. They dominate volume generally. And in this series, the oilers have had their way there, a natural stature has them controlling 55% of the shots, 55% of the high danger chances and 55% of the expected goals.

"But yeah, no, I mean like I frankly purposely didn't talk to any coyotes players even the ones who played college hockey because I was like, they're not going to say they're going to be like, it's cool, I love it. You know, like what's Clayton Keller, a guy who played it a nicer rank quite frankly when he was at Boston University. Like what's Clayton Keller going to say? I think this is the best thing that ever happened to me in my whole professional. No, of course not. But he's going to be like, yeah, it's unique. It's nice. Like you're the thing you're saying about Crosby just giving like the blandest quote imaginable. You're not going to get a good quote out of a guy who plays for the coyotes about this. So I didn't even try to try it. Yeah. All right, is there anything else on mullet? No, I guess not. You know what? No, let me say this too. Part of the reason this works for the coyotes is that they're going to sell, let's say they're going to sell 3000 tickets to like die hard coyotes fans, guys who go to, if they don't have season tickets, go to four or 5 games a year minimum, right? They're going to sell 3000 tickets to those people. And the difference is one coyote's fan I talked to was like, when the Canadians were here, it was like 85% coyotes fans. And that's never happened before. As long as I've been going to coyotes Canadians games. Those people don't, like, greatly outnumber us, basically. And I would say the penguins game was maybe 60, 40 penguins fans, but I talked about penguins fan who was like, yes, usually like 70 30, 75, 25. You know? And so that helps the coyotes too. It does feel more like a home game. So that's good for them, I guess. Not ideal, but yeah. Okay, let's pivot. I want to talk a bit about the trade deadline and sort of sellers and buyers, right? Because you wrote about this recently as well and we alluded to it kind of in passing when we were talking about trickery and the oilers. But I was given this some thought because a lot is being made right now financially, it's difficult to facilitate moves because so many teams are up against the capitalist teams that would conceivably want to make an upgrade. And so everyone's kind of trying to like a crew cap in the meantime and get to the deadline and wait to see if there's injuries that they can get third parties involved. All the usual kind of annual traded on shenanigans that we see. I think the other thing, though, is if you look at the way the league is laid out right now, there's been a lot made of, oh, well, you know, teams saw what Connor bedard did at the world juniors, and so now they feel extra motivation to get rid

And so the first thing I did well, like you said, I went to watch college hockey there was Arizona state hosted a tournament featuring maybe probably the most notable team in Boston University which has obviously like a number of drafted players and guys who had big world juniors like lane huts and for the U.S. and so like my first experience there was seeing college hawk and what it felt to me like being in that arena was.

"Whether that is a husband or a forward, right? That's what we're pushing back against. This notion that like, no, they're all set. Now they need to add this specific niche type of one dimensional defensive defense. And it's like, no, you should spend your remaining assets on a player that can is just the best player possible. Regardless, regardless of where available, exactly. Joel edmundson. That probably is chicken, right? I think it is. And that's why I was mentioning the Specter piece because it's like, first off, I think we should ban people passing off analysis on players. They've clearly never watched before. This whole piece frame chicken has this offensive dynamo who's like a liability in his own zone. It's like, have you? No. Yeah. Is you're telling on yourself a little bit. They're like, he's fine, offensively. He's got good zone exit numbers, which is valuable for what I was just saying the weather is needed in terms of the oilers needed. But he's also good in his own zone, particularly in that end zone defending of like breaking up cycles, operating in front of his own net, which is also what they need. And that's why I identified him as like, you know, it seems kind of lazy to be like, well, the oilers need to benzo and Jacob chicken is the best one available. That's why they should get them. And then I was giving more thought in terms of what he specifically does and what they specifically need. And I was like, yeah. You know what? If it's a 2023 first, 2024 first, let's say Philip broberg and then you use Tyson berry's contract or something. If that's enough for the coyotes, I'm fine with that. Yeah, okay, yeah, if you're saying that's what you're giving up to get chicken for two years beyond this one, sold. That's not a problem to me. What I guess I'm saying is like, oh, if I'm the coyotes, I'm like, there's gotta be a better number road there. As much as like Philip rog seems like he's fine. You know? I think if there was a better offer than that out there, they probably would have traded them by now, honestly. Well, I guess will one materialize just because, well, I wrote about this yesterday, but the other thing that I'm thinking about with this is selling teams aren't going to have a lot of leverage. There's a lot of teams that are going to be tanking or quasi tank and whatever and the second half of the season because we've really figured out like, okay, you're like the ten teams in each conference that are legitimately playoff competitive and that means like there's only going to be a set number of buyers and way more sellers than we usually get. And it seems like all of them do have a defense when they kind of want to give away, but to your point. I mean, the idea that like, look, the oilers

The Hockey PDOcast

"Are not nearly good enough at getting them to puck, like breaking the puck out of the zone, right? And that's the point that I want to make here was you see all these pieces and it's like, well, the oilers are giving up a lot of goals. They're goaltending is struggling. They need to improve the defense once again. Joel edmondson is the guy, and obviously that's flawed logic for so many reasons. But I think especially like beyond Joel edmondson and what you think of him as a player and what the exorbitant price they'd have to pay for him is, it's just not the type of player they need. They need someone who's a good player that can move the puck and help them in that specific area because for this team to be 16th in Russia when they have quantum McDavid can not be acceptable and they need players who can help them move the puck in the right direction more frequently. And so whether that's Jacob tricker or whether that's someone else you want to identify, I'm not saying that offense is the only thing they need to address, but it's just so strange to be how all of this is being sort of like massaged and how everything is being framed, you know what I mean? Yeah, I remember four or 5, maybe even longer than that ago. One of the first few seasons with McDavid and everybody's talking about like all he spent so much time in his defensive zone and, you know, he's got to get better defensively and stuff like that. And I just remember making the point, the reason he's spending so much time in his defensive zone is that he feels like he has to go back 200 feet and then carry the puck 200 feet, right? Like the amount of pressure that he that all great players put on themselves to perform and earn the contract and earn the captaincy or whatever you want to say, like McDavid has to be doing that and back then and maybe even now kind of manifests as well if I don't do X, Y, and Z literally nobody else out there can do it. Yeah. It is that simple, but it's still after all these years. We're still here, right? I don't know. I guess I should throw this in as well. I'm not sure if you saw Mark Specter did a big, deep dive. Of Jacob chick ran a whether he's the right piece for the order. Let me guess. It was a hilarious article. Well, so here's the thing, right? And you said they need a puck mover right, obviously don't disagree with you.

The Hockey PDOcast

"But at the same time, it's like, I just pulled up the numbers from natural stat trick. When McDavid is on the ice at 5 on 5, they are plus three in goals. When oh, I'm sorry. When it's McDavid and dry Seidel, they're plus three in goals. When it's just McDavid, dead even, when it's just right side of minus three, and when it's everybody else minus two. Right, so like McDavid is plus three on the season. Price idol is minus three. And everybody else is minus two. I guess the real problem here a little bit is McDavid isn't outscoring the competition like he usually does. Right? And so that is making everybody else go, oh, we have major problems here. But it's not really well, here's the thing though. Yeah. Yes, yeah. They're up 34 to 31, as you said. They're scraping by in terms of on the scoreboard with McDavid on the ice. They also have 59% of the high danger chances in 56% of the expenses. Part of that is definitely they are not getting saves this year. They got saves last year. Say what you want about the guys they had. They had above average goaltending in the league. And I guess my point is, I just looked it up last year when McDavid was on the ice the oilers were plus 26. You know, is just the bad goaltending enough. My kind of thing here is without Evander Kane, this whole team has fallen apart. Yeah. It's really that simple. Before Evander Kane gets hurt, McDavid has like a huge number of primary assists per 60 and now it's like a quarter of what it was since the cane injury. Before Kane got hurt, he was playing with dry side less than 20% of the time at 5 on 5. Since Kane got hurt, it's over 50%. And which just gives you even more time that these guys who are lower in the lineup and can't outscore their opponents at all are out there, like those guys are out there more because McDavid and dry side are out there together instead of two separate lines.

"Welcome to the hockey PDO cast. My name is Michel foe povich, and joining me is my good buddy Ryan Lambert Ryan, what's going on man? Oh, not a whole lot. Yeah. Yeah, well you just got back from your big trip. I did, yeah. Which we will talk about in the back half of the show. Okay, we're gonna do a full retrospective a mullet arena deep dive and break down here in the PDO cast. So looking forward to that. That's good. Let's start talking about the oilers, though, because you recently wrote about them already, be ringside the big piece on them, and I actually am thinking back, I feel like I have a necessarily talk that much about them on the show so far this season, done a kind of in passing here or there, but certainly haven't done a full breakdown. Break down by any means. And they're having an interesting season to say the least, right? My initial inclination is to be like, well, it's the same as it ever was, but I actually think that there's some kind of unique circumstances so far this season where it actually is at least statistically a bit different than it was last year in the past, whenever this team's kind of struggled. Yeah, for sure. I guess the big thing is that everybody thought it was going to be different this year. They went out and they got the goaltending that, you know, we've kind of felt they were lacking for the last few years and they, you know, they were going to get a full season of Evander Kane or so they thought. And I think maybe there was also some thinking that like some people would step up on the back end and, you know, like Darnell nurse would have a better season and they'd be able to deploy Tyson Barry more effectively and that kind of thing and it just didn't happen. Well, here's the thing. Even after utterly just curb stomping the Anaheim ducks last night. They did, yeah. A team that, as a society, I think we progressed past the need for, like, I don't think. This version of the ducks will revisit in the future, but certainly this galaxy conversion we don't need it anymore. They're still getting out square to 5.5 for the year the wheelers are. And I think the thing that the thing, the reason why I wanted to talk about them was you see all these think pieces, right? And all these Euler's beat reporters were writing about who they should be targeting, what this team needs. And it's kind of just regurgitating the same old tropes and same old stories that they basically written for the past 5 years, right? It's like they need to get tougher. They need to get more physical. They need to work on their defense on the thing to get a defensive defenseman, basically, or the archetype, the traditional thing we think of when we think of that player. And the framing of that is just so off to me, right? Because you look at it and it all it all works from this kind of diluted idea that they're all set off eventually. They have Connor McDavid deadly Andre sad. There's good. They're going to score enough goals. And for me, that just hasn't really been the case, right?

"Co you must be nineteen and remember stay cool and always play responsibly so we literally can talk about whatever we want and lock. The nfl is big right now. I lost her survival pool a couple of weeks ago. Pick tennessee Wasn't such a good pick. So now i have limited interest in the the Survivor pools. But i am dialing in more to the super bowl odds. I don't think anybody is shocked by the tampa. Bay buccaneers plus five hundred. The buffalo bills buffalo was a little shaky early on in the regular season. Those really good aren't they. They look to be really good. We'll see anyone in that group that catches your eye like the green bay packers and plus eleven hundred. I feel like marley. Green bay should be a little bit better odds than little higher. I think they're a better team. Anyone catch your eye well. I didn't know the rams were as good as they are. And so. so there's there that's who i'm going to say you know like arizona's off to this amazing start but i don't know i just like the rams i i think there's a better chance detroit doesn't win a game. How long have they saw long time. Like the lions terrible since forever. Yeah usually get hammered. Every time he admitted your browns fan right. And now i mean it's it's fashionable be browns fan. I i like the look. I'm a bit surprised the kansas city. She's not a bit a lot surprised ebbing. They struggled pretty early in the regular season. I thought they'd find their way and they just don't seem to be finding their way. But have you seen the odds speaking of the detroit. Lions to go winless who the regular season like. Do you think there's a chance they go. Winless of there is a chance. But how good of a chance do you think you gotta think they're gonna win somewhere. No right yeah. I think so but the odds right now according to kubeck dot. Co and and you can put money on this. They will go winless plus nine hundred minus three three three three that they do not go. When in the case of drags my one of my favorite movies boulder. Yeah and you remember the scene where the manager gets them in the shower. And he's yelling adam and he turns around to his coach and he says coach losses. How many losses. We got goes. We got a lot of losses. Say so that's what i think of what i think of the lions masses. Well you can check it all out online.

"A fan of the edmonton weiner's sacher. Just a fan of the sport. In general it doesn't appear that you've had much of the way of growing pains in making the jump from the toronto maple leafs from the east to the west to the edmonton honors. Has the transition for you to this point. Really been a smooth as it appears been It's been pretty smooth and it's been it's been really fun but obviously when you when you move cities and windows moving you're picking up moving your family. There's there's some growing pains there with getting a house and getting a new car and getting situated but from a hockey and point and from a teammate standpoint. it's been unbelievable. and and the city's been incredible breezy point here. So everything's been really good. And i think the auto credit for the guys for being so welcoming because we do have a bunch of guys who amend and that's exceptionally when you're kicking around all this stuff at the end of last year that you know you're in discussions with the leafs. Is there a way to make it fit. You probably had a feeling one way or the other. But what's that decision like for someone who's at home plan for the leafs and you can see kind of where this is heading like. What's that last couple of weeks like a lot of sleep. The it's It's a hard time just because there's so many moving parts and and it's not just the hockey decision the vision the family decision to i need ten months. But i'm timing. I dunno seven months summertime and thinking about you know. where is your son. Grow up your wife's moving ways. She's from toronto. Atlanta's and i always kind of having a family here have. Both of our families are in charles. So it's not just a hockey situation. It's it's a ally situation but we're really happy with with the decision obviously and tamaki implant. It was so easy. We've definitely like. I said that i thought would would work really well and then instead of four but one of the most important parts fat precision was actually born outside and and the city and seeing where. We haven't seen where theo or summer grow up and alanna never been then so when she got there and was able to see all those things that we've been easier decision process and we're really happy. So you're you're playing with austin matthews. Who's probably the best shooter in the game or next to oversee the best shooter in the game and chances are you're going to go to edmonton and now you're gonna. You're you got to play with mcdavid or dry seidel. It's not like it's not like you're getting short thriftier. Like what have you noticed among these great players you've got to.

"I don't know how you fix it. I mean like people. Can you know all they've got to make changes while you've got the same players you're not trading those players. You're not changing those players. How can those players be better more consistently even their own team. Says the same thing. Jake muslim who. I a feel or sense of moslem that. There's there's not a lot of bullshit jake. Muhsin agreed and so he said at the beginning of the year we we've learned a to be a little more mature in our game. Yeah well right now. They need to stick their noses in. They need to get their hands dirty because they may think they are. They're not san. Jose deserved the win. The other night they played the night before and montreal. Toronto had four days off five days off. They should toronto. Should've skated those guys into the ice. And it didn't happen and not much is happening throughout that lineup. With the exception. I mean michael hutchinson and his game wasn't very good right now. They've got the injury maroshek. Sounds like he's getting healthy. Jack campbell for the most part is has been fine if not better than fine but then you look at the defense. You mentioned muhsin david camp. Who's a real good defensive forward. His numbers aren't good defensively. Their power play isn't like you're the coach your sheldon keefe. You're looking at it. Gone aside from juggling that lineup. Where do you start. Just start with the power play and say okay. It's been it's been five games but really it's been two games. Yeah i've been six games. It's been two games because matthew knives visas about but everybody's hung up on the setup whether mourner belongs in the middle or on the wing against san. Jose couldn't get in the zone right no matter what your setup is. They couldn't get in the zone so they're not sharp. They're not right. Some of it can be cured with with a little bit more as we used to. Call a little as my dad. You say a little more elbow grease right like you get you get to work here. All all throw allies patterson from the connection. That's too there are times when a player thinks they're working hard enough and they're not like pederson says. Yeah my game's not right yet and you know what think back to his first year. How many times did you see him. Just tenaciously winning pocket. Back as an always on the puck like pavel data. Klay there right now. He may think he's doing it. he's not in. Toronto is not committed enough to get themselves over the hump to let their talent takeover. They're not yet and they better get there quick. Yeah agreed likewise with the chicago. Blackhawks this imprint. They're they're not but that's the way it appears. And i didn't think that they were going to make great strides. But i did feel that they were going to be better. And maybe that was putting too much stock. And bringing in seth jones and marc andre fleury and of course jon tapes being back on the ice leadership role and being healthy again. That's just a great. Nhl story but it just it. It feels like they're coming apart at the seams with that organization. Like on and off the ice while i was there for was there tuesday. I guess now and it was their home opener. They were playing the islanders. They played a good thirty minutes really good thirty minutes and then they just fell apart in their start. One in five their minus fifteen in goals like that is a debacle. Mine is so..

"Sergei rabovsky who's been booted in the shins for the last few years for pretty average play spencer night as well. They've got aeronautic bled back joel quenneville of course behind the bench. He said he sees a little bit of you. Know the the blackhawk copiers in this panther team. Yeah terrific start for them. Edmonton is connor. Mcdavid on pace for like two hundred twelve points again. It's crazy start for him. Their power play is unreal. I think two things that are going to be key for the oilers have been terrific so far one is the play. Duncan keith now. He's not duncan keith. From twenty ten but he has been really good yeah. He's been very good for them. That helps certainly on their defense. The others are goaltending has been more than adequate. Mike smith i and then when he got banged up a bit and he'll be back later this week. Apparently mika skin it's it's been been more than adequate if they can do that in goal man at mcdavid and dry seidel there now. They got hyman. And and pull yari. As and ryan nugent hopkins. That's that's a good team carolina. I'm surprised that they got like ten or eleven new guys. I thought they were going to have a little bit of a feeling out process. Freddie anderson's been awesome and goal for them. You know so. They're they're often running in the team. That i think they're one of the better teams but it surprised me how much they've scored early as saint. Louis a write in david perron had a hat trick. The he seems to be getting better. You like saint. Louis is where he thrives right. You're right. he went away. Played elsewhere back to saint louis. It's just the place for. Yeah all right. So we go through the undefeated. Which probably won't be undefeated when you're listening to the podcast. That's fine some great stories out of the gate so now let's kick over to the not so great and we'll start with the toronto maple. Leafs who again are playing the undefeated carolina hurricanes this monday night. So perhaps that takes the maple leafs in in a different direction. The morning skate children keefe essentially changed everything. He defended nick ritchie and rightfully. So i felt in talking about okay. Everybody in the media. Want to gravitate to nick. Ritchie isn't a fit with matthew matthews minor. Finally said okay. Well you could ask the same questions..

Those wheels are always turn and aren't they. They never stopped. There's always something going on inside that brain yet. They're his knowledge and recall of players Is really really cool to sit around and talk about. He loves hot stove in it up. Loves talking about the game loves talking about what about this player. And what do you think of that player you know you. Can you ask him a question. You get three answers to the three arms of the same answer to this one question. He's a he's a good person to games. Better because he's back involved than dob obviously. I'm a little biased. He's a good friend. I hope the oilers have a good playoff because last playoff the they fell flat data. That was very disappointing loss to chicago all right now. We're joined by chris abbott from cool bed dot. Co and chris as an exciting time of year as it is for guys like and mean a your business. It's incredibly busy and exciting. I know that you're A significant hockey fan to say the least at a variety of levels but the playoff series odds Is this something you look forward to year-by-year trying to set them and keep it creative and all of those things or or how do you go about it. Yeah it's really fun. It's really fun when you get while it's not unique to this season but it's really when you get a bunch of games in a row with the same teams and you can send odds on on the series you can set odds on you know player points ahead in the series and things like that and people really get excited for it. We have way more requests when it comes to specific props and things like that when it comes playoff time. I mean the regular season is fine but you know you kind of do a game by game When you can you can get into a series of all the different things that can happen and then of over the course lee entire playoffs. Toronto montreal you want to start with one series and then dazzling through some series right. Now do that. I mean rages talked about the montreal canadians in the toronto maple leafs and will continue to scour through series by series. But are you heavily. Favoring the toronto maple leafs like everybody else seems to be. Yes we've got the leafs minus two eighty six to win that series with montreal paint plus to thirty. It's pretty big disparity when it comes to numbers for for a playoff series vol set the leaves that minus one twenty to come of the north. That's pretty heavy and as usual we will see money. Come in on toronto Regardless so to me. There's i don't know i mean you've got to win a bet to make the money but to me. There's an argument to at least back montreal..

"I see for Their last game of the year. They're playing the league They're playing the leafs on friday. The the fourteenth dubois clan on the right wing and so they're looking for a spot where he can be most effective is gonna play on wing with With paul stassen who just went over a thousand games congrats to one of the good guys in the game But i i think he he has to be part of the solution against mcdavid that you know. It'll be a lot of as much as they can cop and apple cop appleton and lowery the concern. I have defensively for the jets. Is that their defense. Doesn't really stop. They kind of absorb. That's a dangerous way. If you keep absorbing connor mcdavid and leon draisaitl eventually the breakthrough right. I've got edmonton is a favourite difference maker can bikaner hello bodies. One of the league's best. But man. Mike smith he's he's just been so bloody good this year scrappy man so i do think i do think the other thing is the oilers seemed to have a comfort playing a two one. Game drags that i. I don't remember them having before. The game grinds out ms not much going on. They used to get frustrated and try to score. Now they just kind of plow along and you. Hopefully they're big boys. Get the chance but i think there are better team than they were in the past and i look i i hope for winnipeg jets fan base that you know there's a level of excitement that brings out the best in that team otherwise it's going to be a problem series for the winnipeg jets and it to me. It goes back to the trade deadline. I don't know if the room the dressing room expected. Kevin shoveled af to land that top. Four piece i can tell you know this dried willing to give up all. We're doing sandberg or you know a key prospect as as part of a deal but sometimes i can drag you down canet when you're anticipating as a team. Look we need.
