"5 bomb show Peter burns and for mister Paul finebaum and by the way, I've got to declare myself the idiot that I am. I earlier had said Freddie roach and Brent key and my wife texted me and she goes you idiot has Doug marrone in the offensive line. So very impressive that my wife would call me out early and now you know I already did a die hard Alabama crimson tide fan. All right, let's talk a little LSU football on the other side. T bob aber joining me right now. Team bob just who's actually got a better outfit today is that your Christmas sweater are my Jacob Hester 1999 prom frosted tips, sure. What do you think? I mean, look, frosted tips is a Trump card that and as much as I love this sweater, I don't even know if I can compete at the frozen dips, but you may see the snowflakes, but check this out. Oh, a little Star Wars the death star, the French run. I got the imperials here, the alliance here, let's ride dude. It's that time of year, bro. The alliance, I didn't even see the Big Ten or the ACC or the PAC 12 logo there. That's impressive, my friend. All right, has anybody else within the last 5 minutes transferred out of vela shoe? We saw the news that max Johnson, late yesterday and some other players, what's happening? It's not great PB, but I do think that this is a byproduct of true regime change, right? And that's where this gets interesting for LSU is that you really have to go back to and Nick Saban arrived in the year 2000 to find true regime change. So here locally, this feels very odd because when you went from saving to miles, you kept a lot of connective tissue because Saban didn't get fired. It wasn't broken. It was rolling right along. He got a promotion. He went to the NFL. When you went from miles to oge Ron, you kept almost everything. You really, in that case, just needed a change at the head. You just needed a CEO change. What Brian Kelly has taken over is something more chaotic, more broken and more in need of sweeping change. It's all I've been talking about it for weeks. This attrition that you're seeing now is not unexpected. And we said it. It's going to hurt. There is still probably more on the way, but you made this move. Knowing this attrition would come in order to be better in the long term. Yeah, see bob, it feels like hey, you know, he bought a house and an unbelievable neighborhood. He looked at it and he's like, well, you know what? The bones of this house are great, but we are revamping everything. We're going to have the knock down some walls and that's what they're doing right now. But the thing that I didn't understand though, max Johnson was a starter. By all accounts, it felt like he had told Brian Kelly, hey, listen, I'm good. I'll be here. And then all of a sudden, something's changed. I don't understand the timing of that before. It offensive coordinator was named unless names have been floated out there in the Johnson family said, nah, that's just not going to be a good fit. I mean, it's potentially that it might not even be that complicated though, right? It could be a situation where sure early on max was like, yeah, I'm in, I'm in, right? And then he starts to think about it more, some new hires get made, maybe like a Tommy moff at least. I mean, let's really take a step back and look at max's two years at LSU. I use the word chaos earlier. And what a tumultuous time. It has been for max Johnson. I mean, I'm talking about constant turnover of coaches. I'm talking about 500 football two years in a row, which is almost unheard of at LSU. I'm talking about negative fan noise, negative media coverage constantly, right? Because nothing angers a fanbase more than where you land in relation to expectations. And 500 football two years following national championship is very far below. So it's been toxic and he's been centered unfairly a lot of times at the center of that toxicity. So I kind of get it, man. Everybody else is hitting the change of pace. Everybody else is getting new scenery. Like, I don't think it's too hard to understand why max wants to leave. Unfortunately, I also don't think that there is any way of spinning this into being a positive at all for LSU. Yeah, I mean, listen, no one's going to want to replace Nick Saban the legend after that. That's going to be tough. No one's going to want to replace Paul fine bump from this chair because of the legend that he's become as well. And it's tough to replace the legend of Joe burrow. And unfortunately, max Johnson had that opportunity. And miles burn into a certain extent and it has struggled a little bit. How about some positive? The hiring of Frank Wilson, I saw Leonard fournette. I saw everybody. Jacob Hester, talking about, hey, they went and got that guy. Clyde Edwards a layer was talking about going, oh, lord, they end up gotten Frank. What does Frank mill Wilson mean to this program and how can that help Brian Kelly? I mean, he means everything, right? A good leader will always look to supplement his weaknesses to shore up his weaknesses. Well, what did everybody say with Brian Kelly was higher? How would the Fitbit? Would he fit in? Does he know Louisiana? You know who fits in? You know who knows Louisiana inside and out? Who has connections that run deeper? I mean, the saint all grad. Frank Wilson. And not only does he know the entire state, but he specifically knows New Orleans, right? In the West Bank. And you have to be able to succeed all over Louisiana, but you especially have to be able to succeed in New Orleans if you want to be the LSU head football coach. And there's reason why a guy like tyron came out and was so glowing in the hiring of Frank. And that's because Frank Wilson is the only reason why Tyra Matthew even ended up at LSU. He had to beg less miles to take this one star cat, tyron Matthews. So not only will he get you the big names, but he can find these diamonds in the rough and most importantly he opened doors that would have been closed to Brian Kelly. Otherwise, and he closes doors that people like Nebraska and hiring Mickey Joseph, especially Florida high range of bar. Like it is a direct refutation of those hires in bringing Frank Wilson and you can already see the New Orleans recruiting team heating up a bit. Yeah, Jarvis Landry Devin white, those guys, and part of the reason why Nick Saban had it so good is that he wasn't letting those guys out. You've seen Dylan Moses and devonta Smith and some of those guys go back in Louisiana and poor guys out. Maybe that's not the case with Frank Wilson over there at the helm with recruiting. All right, let's spend this big picture now. SEC championship, we saw it went down, are you pulling for a Georgia Alabama rematch or something completely.

"I think it's going to be extremely difficult for those guys to now leave us if the coaching hire is right at LSU. I think that is, to me, I've said this, I've been on the record. I think I'll just use a top two job in college football. Thank you almost have to screw it up almost intentionally. It's been proven by the last few years. Last smiles was inept in many ways. I love less miles. As teams played insanely hard, they were extremely physical, but he was inept in a lot of ways, rolled the ball out in one ten games every year. There's something to be said for that. So if you go get a remarkably cerebral coach that's a tenacious recruiter, couple that with what can become the LSU football team that's just two years removed from a national championship. They can be back here in two years. You just suggest David randa for the LSU job the way you describe that position. I don't like the fit. As much as I love Dave veranda, I think he's perfect at Baylor. And it's not that he won't get looks elsewhere, but I think Dave veranda is a very cerebral, very thoughtful, I don't know if he's introverted, but it just feels like LSU needs someone that's a little bit more brash. At least that's the way it's been. So maybe they want to over correct and go in a different direction. Dave Aranda is the polar opposite to the less miles and at oge Ron. So I could see that being a possibility, but I also think that while Aranda's been good one year of legitimate success, parling that into the job at LSU, I'd like to have a coach with a little longer track record. Tom Scott Woodward, there's a guy in. If Scott wilbert asked you to label what you believe are the qualifications for a good fit as the next LSU head football coach. What would you offer? That's a great question because I think LSU presents some very unique dynamics, right? You have to be embraced by the entire state. You have to be tied in politically. You have to understand that you're working with an athletic director that has a very clear vision for what he wants within that program and he's going to be a part of that program. But by all accounts, he's going to be in the football building on a regular basis. And so you need to work hand in hand with an athletic director who believes in his own power of persuasion in some respects, but also his ability to go out and help you fill out a staff. And so you have to have an open mind and be willing to say, yes, this is a guy that I want to work with to build this program in both of our images, especially when it comes time to bring in other staff members. You have to be available publicly. I mean, you have to be a face of the program. You can not hide in your office every day. I think that's important. But the number one thing is you have to win and how do you do that at LSU? You recruit. And you have a 5 hour radius at his home to some of the top players and all of high school football. You have to continue to do damage in Houston. You've got to, you don't have to get everybody in your state. I mean, that's been proven, right? They don't get everybody, but yet they still had a national championship and arguably the best season we ever seen in college football just a couple of years ago. And it always run had great success going out to the West Coast and getting guys from Southern California and dipping into other states and even further west within Texas than just Houston. And I think one side note to that that we're all still trying to figure out and getting a better feel for it is how does the transfer portal impact programs like LSU and who can you go out there and nab? We saw a Kirby smart did, you know, and fill in some holes this season. And I think you have a chance to go out there and use the LSU power and the power of a possible championship to fill whatever holes you may have this coming year. I think transfer portal, if you're LSU, should be a massive benefit to what you're trying to do and how you're trying to operate. You've had old miss recently, you've had Mississippi state recently, egg bull Thursday night, which direction are you going in that rivalry game? Well, speaking of direction for the folks listening on radio, you see the sun has come from behind the clouds and directors would be upset with me because I got shadows on my face. Amateur. This actually helps. Whatever takes the attention. Maybe I can just do it profile. Yeah. Thank you. It's a good look. Thank you. I appreciate that. Face for radio. All miss has to figure out kind of where they are offensively, right? I mean, the first half against a M4 hundred yards of offense, but they couldn't get it in the end zone because they were taking some chances and leaving points on the board. Second half against a and M they couldn't move the football. They didn't have much success. Saturday night, Vanderbilt did a fantastic job kind of daring old myths just to work underneath and they weren't given them anything deep. Macro seems to be healthy. He's going to have to be more efficient. I mean, they got to take some shots within the scope of this offense. It was evident Saturday night that they were hoping to play McIlroy two quarters, maybe two quarters plus first series second half. Build a lead against a team there heavily favored for. And then kind of ride it out and get ready for this short week. They weren't they weren't offered that opportunity. So arguably two offenses that at their peak are two of the most entertaining in the game. But I think it's evident taking into consideration the level of competition lately. Mississippi states offense has been way more successful in the last few weeks and don't miss his hats. Tom, thank you for joining us. Always good to catch up with Jordan Rogers bitter rival here on the call. I'm bomb show, have a Happy Thanksgiving and see you in Baton Rouge. Can you guys just send me some of Jordan's headshots? 'cause from now on, I'd like to just send those out as mine. Better look for you without a doubt. So thanks for joining. It is Monday of rivalry week, co cubic mcelroy, filling in for Paul fine Bond. We want to hear from you when we come back. What are you looking forward to? This week, as far as rivalry games, 8 5 5 two four two 7 two 8 5, we take your calls and continue talking rivalry week next on the Paul find bomb show. You are listening to the Paul finebaum.

"The pride passion that pageantry of college football lives here. This is the Paul Fein bomb show hour three podcast. We're back and it's great to have all of you with us. Second half the program is live a lot of conversation about coach. Oh, the Tennessee debacle, Florida. We'll talk to Greg mcelroy and a few minutes to get his take on bamas resurgence after losing. Let's get auggie calling now from New Orleans. Hello, augie. Paul, how are you doing? Doing great. Nothing going on today, right? I am employed and have no buyouts. So I'm in good shape. You need a buyout, Paul, look at oge Ron. Now, let's face it, do you think when editors are when you left Ellis, Chevron ice and his shrimp band? Did you ever think you'd end up with $17 million in his life? No. I think it's remarkable. And I'm happy for him and I hope he has a good money manager. Well, I hope so too. I hope we don't see him on those little pop up ads that talk about pro athletes that are broke two years after they retire, Dan Marino's pictures all over the place. But let's not feel sorry for Ed O the guy is walking away with more money than most people from his part of the words with his GPA ever thought they would get. So let's not cry too much overhead. Don't cry for me. Wherever he's from. Look who's parish. I'm sorry. High school. The nicknames is the tarpons for tarpons. But I have some advice for him if you'll listen. Yeah, what is it? I want to hear it. He needs to run for public office. Oh, he get elected. Yeah, I mean, I think for me, he's got 17 million in the tank. I don't know where John Bill, I think John bell just got reelected, did he not? Well, you could put humpty dumpty in all. Here's the thing he should run against a guy. Can't remember his name. You'll have to help me. I know I'm getting an a politics now, but I'm trying to run this by. He should run against the senator who voted against Trump. And Cassidy Bill Cassidy, I think. Would that not get him elected? I think the guy would get elected just in his personality, because you know, Louisiana history in Louisiana politics call, if somebody can entertain us, doesn't matter if they have a brain or not, they're going to get voted in. I mean, he would easily get voted in. But I see those raw going down almost not quite, but in the annals of like Gary denardo, curly home and Mike archer, he did win a national championship. Now whether that was by pure luck, like you just fell down and hit oil like the clamp it did in the hillbillies. The guy did win a national championship. So let's give him that. But Paul, your interview with Brody, Brody kind of left you hanging, didn't he? Well, I mean, when you hang your entire article on this salacious bit and then he backs away I mean, I don't know, you tell me you're the you're the attorney, but he didn't exactly go all in on that, did he? No, I mean, you said it, he was crawfish and he was equivocating. It was like what you were trying to get into testify against his wife and although he wanted to, he was trying to play the I really don't want to say this, so dragging out of me more Paul. But I think Brody let you down there, Paul. Well, you know, I did not expect him. I did not expect to have to regurgitate, which was the most salacious thing in his entire article, and then I was trying to think about this. I was trying to get him to confirm what he wrote. And he really didn't do it. No, he didn't. And you wonder why people distrust the media. Fake news. I mean, you know, by the way, I know people think those of us on this side always defend the media, but this was a classic case of a guy who wrote by all accounts the definitive history of Edo's fall from grace in the most talked about piece of his article. I had to drag out of him like I had an AK-47 at his head. And then he still wouldn't give it to me. You were like punching him over the head with a rusty led pipe and he was really very reluctant to spill the beans, but he has memorialized it in an article that will live forever. So I don't know. By the way, augie was out with in seconds. Seconds of the first report. So about yesterday about 1230, I guess, or maybe one o'clock. One 30, whatever time it was. Ross de Langer tweets Edo is out. And I think within two or three minutes, Brody had this entire article on the athletic site. I missed the article. I saw I saw the tweet that came out from Delaware and didn't see Brody. It was within minutes of which doesn't tell me itself evident. He already had it written. He absolutely had it written. And you know, those stories have been floating around for a long time. And like a lot of people and you yourself said, these things don't come to bite you when you're Nick Saban, right? Not that Nick Saban would do any of this, because I do not see Nick Saban as this kind of guy ever. And I think his wife would beat him if he did. But this is the kind of guy Edo is and people who knew him and know him, they're not surprised by this. I don't know the guy, but I knew people who know people who buy the 6th degree. But he's gone, I hope they win the rest of their games. I'm glad Dan Mullen. Dan Mullen was not smug and arrogant at his press conference, now was he? He was very he was very humbled. I mean, the guy was like he got caught with his finger in the pie. So that was great. I'm glad we Saturday was a win win fellowship. We beat Florida and we got rid of that O. So he couldn't get any better. It was in the Pantheon of separations. It was one of the happiest I've ever seen. Well, I think Edo is a realist. He realizes what we have already said, hey, can you believe I'm walking away from LSU with $17 million? I want a national championship. I'll be a God around here forever. What she will be. And here we had two years to trash the program. Hopefully we can bring it back. But Paul, do you remember and as far as Mel Tucker goes, I don't care who the coaches as long as they win, but remember when Mel Tucker left Colorado. There was a controversy. It was only a day before he was sipping his favorite beverage and telling people I'm here for the long haul at Colorado. And what did an airplane tweeting that token green? Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Do you think those things will come back to haunt a potential coach in the eyes? I don't think that one way. There was some really bad feelings, but what's most important for Mel Tucker is that he's winning now. And that really is critical. Hey, thank you for the call. Appreciate it. John is in South Carolina. You're on the air. Hey, Paul, thanks for taking my call. Thank you. The main reason I was calling, I'm just wanting to be able to tell everybody pretty much total about coach home when they first made the hire. I thought it was a bad hire to begin with. And a lot of people thought I was crazy then. And I had to eat a lot of cruel when they won a national championship. But now everything is coming together the way I said it would be in that example and everything. And the gag you had a little bit, I came remember as many that said that unless you can't afford Jimbo Fisher, they just paid a gas 17 million to leave. Yeah. I think making a full Jimbo Fisher. LSU can afford. No, that's not even not even an issue. I hope my last thing, I hope they give Bill Napier a chance. I like him. I know he's a chance, but for some reason I like him, I believe he could be successful..

"And by the way, we ended up watching the end of that game and the game went and kicked over Cole's iPhone as he's driving through game day traffic and we're trying to find the wilder fury fight. So there was a lot on the table trying to get out at Kroger field and in our game as well, not just as good as Kentucky's playing, but everything that's on the line for Ed augeron. That was a big storyline in that game. That story is probably already been written to this point, but I think it bears following the rest of the way. No doubt. And as you we just talked to Molly McGrath who had come from a meeting with coach and you've been in these meetings and it sounded like he was on red bill Red Bull 5. I mean, she said he was you couldn't have been more fired up, but that's just who he is, isn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's any day. I mean, whether he's running on the levee or he's watching film or he's leading their three o'clock meeting, which is, you know, a big fire up the troops type speech yeah, that's at oge Ron's personality. He's been great to us. He did a pre game interview with Cole right before the game. He understands what it means to be the head coach at LSU. He understands the pressure that's there to win. It's different. Okay, well, Tom, we'll be watching tonight as well as big blue madness, midnight, madness starts in the bluegrass state as we thank Tom hart for joining us from Lexington. Basketball season around the corner, big blue madness. Tonight, right after us..
