"There's motivations is so much easier to find between both of you. Wall said well said now that's great and that is always a bit of the challenge. Especially if you're an outside organization coming in and meeting with entrenched on there are the marketers are entrenched dev team. They can certainly feel threatened to begin with. And they can postulate A number of different thoughts about your agenda. Get past that. You got to be able to to be able to conquer that with one good win as a team but you also have to be able to demonstrate the measurement because a lot of time dev don't know how to measure seo performance or user behavior the way we look at it from seo standpoint so you get around a small tactic and demonstrate the winds and you lift them up as suspense all you. "The complaining on the people who make the decisions he california man fight over alleged white power sign says. He was cracking his knuckles. I think that is the story. Yes and as i read it. Those the the the white power symbol is the okay symbol which is badly and okay symbol. Which is right joke where they decided to make that symbol into a white powers used to just be the okay simple. So it's kind of a joke at the expense of social justice warrior types because if they pretended to wipe us in but we have will start going. Hey look into why power symbol and then people will look at us and say those people think the okay gesture is a white power symbol. Then they must be ridiculous. It's one of the ways that they use humor to sort of play the the online left right and it's quite effective so it is quite is thing mentality. Yeah yeah. I do think the we. We underestimate the I don't use. The word sophistication. Because i don't think there is any sophisticated fall right huma though. I think we addressed how deliberately they using humor to to create plausible deniability around pushing extremist far-right ideas got. This has become seriously does doesn't it. I mean i guess what you assigned was really interesting. Because i was thinking i think may be we one night. I was thinking about this recently. Because my niece is quite young and very early on developed the sense of justice. Very early on Even pre verbally but then once once would start to come in. It's very clear that they have these ideas of things that are just like base level right and wrong and then they have to be tool of the ones that are more like social rights in rooms. You are like stuff to do with how you treat other people in more nuanced ways are more complicated by like on that base level. That seems to be like this principle underlining maybe a few principles and is i think we won't. We won't but the problem is that also has to be subjectivity. That also has to be like i. I'm against the death penalty right. But if i think of the nuremberg. Trials and gobbles is on the stand. I wouldn't shed a tear if we decided to hang him on now absolutely absolutely furious about mussolini hanging from a lamppost. I can live with it in principle. I don't agree with it. Yes it exactly. So i feel like the problem is it's like the you know the the The grain of sand problem in philosophy. No say so. You have a heap of pebbles and he take off one. Pebble is still a heap. You take off. Another pebble is the heap at a certain point. It is no longer a heap. But you know it's not when you get down to one. Yes there's some but there's but there's no there's no cutoff point where it's like no longer a heap of pebbles I'm but we want to be. Yeah and and for legislative reasons. We need the debate like age. Adulthood works like that except that these reasons. We have to have a point where you become an adult legally even though in reality. Yeah isn't how adult looks right. So the s society requires us to put all but tree lines in the sand web. Biology wouldn't draw them that.

"We're not here to win a war like we're here doing something very different very political and you know obviously a couple of months later when once those ideas were introduced to me i was like oh shit like it all starts to really come. Unraveled fast. Where you go from there as a as a veteran or whatever and that's that's the tough part right is like if you if you are going to continue down. That line enclosure is well. You're just gonna be willfully ignorant but after you know if you're that person that says enough's enough will man go find out as much as you can and that's kind of where i ended up the the veteran movement you know it needs more and more of this kind of voice you know. I think the problem is is those. Are some really really tough pills that people swallow. And it's like it's much like anybody who works for the state right. Dave i mean when you look at you know the the teachers you know most people who are in rank and file teachers police officers military. They've never even heard of the ideas that we we talked about in terms of ending the fed and ending the wars. And all that kind of stuff. Yeah no most people were saying in the public school system. Have no idea that it's the prussian model. That was adopted by Harry harris man. And you know they just horace. Many other They just don't they don't know about this stuff and it's i i'd imagine it must be really tough for them to accept that. Which is why the active duty troops supporting ron. Paul was so interesting. I've i've heard this The this comment none analogy just thing that happened. But i said i was watching this documentary with my wife It was a documentary about the history of abortion laws in the country. Coming from a very pro choice. Perspective documentary was not me and And they there. Was this one woman that's abortionist. Who's been an abortion doctor for like thirty something years and she was like left. There is no moral issue with the borsch. And like just a compass owls blah blah blah. All this is sitting there watching it. And it's like yeah. Will you better feel that way. Because if you consider the alternative you know. Then the alternative is that you are a decades long baby murderer. That's that's your pretty incentivized to not believe in that. So when you see these these troops actually going. You know what. I'm accepting the implications that come with me saying oh. These wars are all immoral and illegitimate and that the implications are pretty. Now state that it's like oh yeah you were doing some bad things for some bad dudes. That really didn't need to happen. And so i really admire anybody who can swallow that bitterest of pills. I was on the back porch with my my cousin greg. I won't say his last name. But he was a libertarian. Way back in the nineties right and so he he and i were cooking out. And it's the first time i've seen in a while at christmas. And you know he's like hey man. Let's talk about some of these things and we. We always like doing this kind of stuff and he said how do you feel about your your service then and i kind of had that moment man. That was that was the. I'll never forget it. Just sitting sitting there with him and having to say yeah man. I guess i was serving this kabbal. This murder call in. I've done some really really terrible shit for them And i think that's where. I've got to the point where i was like. You'd better get smart because you're going to spend the rest of your damn life trying to lease. Tell people not to go down that road that you went down or telling people you know what the truth of the situation is. Because i'm telling you. What man if i hadn't done those things. If i hadn't been that i wouldn't be doing what i'm doing in liberty. I wouldn't be running for office. I wouldn't be doing any of this kind of stuff. That'd be chilling with family hanging out here home setting by. Yeah that was a that was a nasty pill man. It's a it's a tough thing to swallow but gotta do it at the end of the day. Yeah yeah well you know one thing that just pops into my mind. I just can't help myself on this topic but there is because you know there's been a lot of screeching Online from the The loser brigade of the lp as we know but the other one thing that's so interesting and sometimes will the mrs caucus in the more radicals will will kind of be like well. We're the really antiwar people and then sometimes those guys will be like no no. We're all anti war. Were antiwar to were against it. But the interesting thing to me is that you know when you talk about the guys who are libertarians. In the nineties and stuff like that you know it really was the ron paul maecenas institute wing of the libertarian movement. Who were good on this stuff. The whole time is not true. Now for the The reason magazine crowd and a lot of the beltway types were bad on the iraq war but but that never becomes like such a big scandal. The big scandal is that. Oh my god. Murray rothbart was willing to talk to pat buchanan in the ninety s like. That's that's somehow unforgivable. But you know if maybe you just supported like the sanctions regime that led to the war in iraq. I mean you didn't really support the war in iraq show. A few hundred thousand kids probably died because of that but like whatever. You weren't a racist or anything like that like that's you know racist not even that any of them actually are but just labeled racist. It's just like man it really. Does you see in this game that some people have different values different priorities and one of the things that i really like about antiwar combat vets is that they always have their priorities straight. And i think that's from actually seeing some real shit you wanna talk about how the state is evil..

"You think about you know like what if if you just play the counterfactual out in your head right. What if in march and april of two thousand twenty. The the american people knew this. Like what if right away you know as this whole pandemic is beginning and really starting to hit america and change everything about our. Everyone's life that you know nino is that's happening. If just the american people knew that this virus came from a lab in wuhan that was doing gain of function research that foul cheese organizations were funding. Like what would the attitude of been about listening to Then my guess is pretty different right like that would have made a pretty big difference. I think a lot of people would have been like. I don't wanna hear what this guy has to say mccain might be responsible for this whole thing get him out of the way and let me listen to some like you know some expert. Who's not as con conflicted on this topic. And yet now all the sudden now all of a sudden the corporate press has decided. It's okay that we can talk about this. But without any of that part that i just mentioned like none of the like this kind of changes everything that we were telling you about the last year. It's just really wild to see it happening. And on top of that there should be some sort of a count ability or investigative study over. What information to these news agencies have that they just warren publishing because man were able to put these stories together quickly. New york post pictures of the scientists being bitten by by the bats. There's vanity fair article is a pretty good deep dive. Like how many stories were these people. Just sitting on. How many experts actually gave him. You know the inside scoop and they. That's why that's what. I meant about saying like speculating and growing into the conspiracy round. Because it's like. I don't want to jump to conclusions that 'cause 'cause the problem with speculating is that oftentimes you do jump to conclusions. And you're missing a more likely or an easier path there so i don't wanna do that but that's exactly right. What you just said is exactly right. It's like wait a minute so you're just telling me all the sudden we're ready to roll with all of these these stories that all of the sudden it's kind of like oh there's a few people i don't know if you remember like maybe like three weeks ago on the show that was talking about that nicholas wade piece where i was like. Wow this guy nicholas wade. Who's like a real deal. Science correspondent like this was the he was the editor of the new york times science action. He was the editor of nature and he was the editor of science. These are like you know in the world of science journalism. These are like the biggest credentials you could have. And he came out and wrote this whole piece now. It was on medium is published in the new york times. They didn't publish their own guy. You know in the new york times there was on medium and he was like look. The overwhelming scientific evidence is that the lab is the most plausible way that we got covert. And i was like. Wow that's pretty crazy like this real diehl guy is just coming out and saying it and then within like a couple weeks it's just like oh yeah now. Everyone's saying this. Oh and by the way she hears this government document. We have about all the sick people who worked at the wuhan lab. Yeah it was running around november. They they all got sick and were hospitalized with at might be of interest if you're thinking that this is where the kobe came from and then it's like oh yeah and by the way the next week. Here's all emails. There's just happens. The timing just happens to like up this way it just. It seems bizarre. And now all of a sudden you can just go to vanity fair and get a really excellent piece like really really well not and one of the things. That's really that they really break down in the vanity fair piece that i i gotta say it was. It was refreshing to see someone talking about this. Although still with the feeling of like where the hell of you guys been because the idea of being a good journalist is not that once it safe an after the fact we will come out and do good reporting. You'd need in a good journalist would be willing to do the good reporting like when it actually matters when the crisis is happening but one of the things that they mentioned they had a line in there somewhere. I don't know if you caught this. I send it to you pretty late. But they had one line where they they basically said that what the lab leak hypothesis threatened to do to the research community was what chernobyl dead to the nuclear energy community. That like if it came out early like they basically made the point that this whole industry is a honeypot and that all of them are getting all of these tax dollars to do all these crazy different research projects and just like any other government. You know complex. It's not really based off. What research absolutely needs to be done. It's more kind of like well. There's this money there's political favors being done. There's who's connected and people are getting money left and right and some of the experiments are really really dangerous and some of them are being done in these fucking crazy countries. Like china where there's like no regulation or oversight or anything like this you know. And so if it can't if it came out that the veracity industry is responsible for all of this that was a real threat to their gravy train. And so of course you saw all of these scientists who had a real.

"But i'm very excited to be here on. Appreciate the opportunity to share the cutesie. Nice background and i'm gonna turn to humana next. Took give us a little background on yourself and your work with the city and county of san francisco as well as your interest in small business. Many ms on manda freedom. Before i go into my work. I just want to tell tracy that i did. Prego patty's at uh s. And so if you see one or both of my children run in here know that they spent a lot of time in tracy studio when they were first born. I oversee policy communications in the treasurer's office and normally don't make small businesses like to think about the tax collector. So my job is to make your business with our office as painless as possible so we tried to. We collect most of the money for licenses taxes at all the things that business really don't want to think about and so we really do try to make your experience with us as a brief and painless as possible during covid we also implemented a lot of the relief measures that were passed by the mayor in the board so different fee waivers town of deferrals and so most of my work in the past year has been to tell businesses that they don't actually os which has been a welcome relief. I think for all of us. But sadly i think that chapter is probably coming to a close. Now we're working on implementing some of the taxes that passed the voters in the last election. In which do help. Small businesses and the most part but a lot of changes on the horizon. And adam. please give us a little background on yourself. And then also beacon economics absolutely thank you. It's great to be here. we're an independent consulting firm. We try very hard to provide economic analysis objective economic analysis to all of our clients and that can be both public and private sectors so you know helping. Jurisdictions forecast estimated budget revenues to our economic development practice which helps jurisdictions look at the long-term workforce economic development obstacles challenges and opportunities that they may face. So it's been a busy year for myself in the team. You know all of our models that went haywire pretty quickly after the pandemic numbers started coming in. So it's been a busy but exciting. I think you know our work has been trying to help as many clients as we can understand where the challenges are in a world where data has been misleading at times. We live in a world now where we're almost inundated with data compared to a world when you'd have to go to the library to get mimeographed copies of the bureau of labor statistics releases and so you know as we've had kind of unprecedented fiscal monetary policy taking place programs. We've not seen before from the federal level. We've had to help folks understand what that means. You know in the early months when a business may have been in real trouble but had a ppp loan. Those folks would show up as employed even though that might be an area that had some challenges needed some focus from local jurisdictions policymakers. So we've been helping folks throughout the pandemic navigate the challenges and imported talking to everybody today. Thank you. I adam great overview and can segue into our next topic which really was one of the main reasons why i wanted to try to pull together this wonderful panel today and that is the kobe. Nineteen pandemic along with kind of the economic meltdown or downdraft if you will followed it and its impact on small businesses..

"So distracted by their traumas you know lake Kids experimenting sexually with other kids. That's a that's a warning sign for sure. Kids getting urinary tract infections or damage to the ns. Obviously that's a big sign up kids like you know in my research on. The one of the participants pointed out to me that he was actually a few of them. Said like i was odd kid right because you know they're so associated right. They can't relate to other kids. They can't just come come down to earth so their own trauma responses rate so they really Just cautioned that could be a big warning sign a to something seems off or changes in behavior. That's that's the red flag now to start asking questions. Yeah an older kid in older youth. This sorta chip on their shoulder. That just won't go away like wind anger. That kind of thing you know. I think a lot of people are really quick to write it off as a stage in development but any extreme changes. Yeah like if they go from being the kid that goes to youth camper bible scope or whatever to suddenly dark interest. There's probably something going on right so sudden in extreme changes. I don't know if you know. Jimmy hinton he is the The guy with the book behind me double inside. And he he's expert on grooming techniques while he he calls them testing but so he was on the show last week and talked about some of the grooming techniques sex offenders use. But let's hear maybe you may have some that that we didn't hear okay me okay Well they're right. Deliberate acts that these offenders engage in right. Which is you know. I'm sure he talked about like them. Winning the trust of the adults in their life right filling a need right The typically start off with you know being very overtly obvious about intentions. Which makes it kind of feel innocuous right so you know telling telling the parent. Oh yeah i want be a support..

"Why we're here. You know how he he's taking a shit. Yep some on fought he the window. He's taken shit that window. Someone look they fire a cannon. Give not us how those stories should go. A lot of death happens is just you know you get dysentry inch got. You're still a human being. It doesn't matter how heroic you'll mythos built into your still if you are a real character Human you still real life human yields subject to the same physical loses everybody else and i love it when that is the kind of thing that you know. You've got these epic stories and they happen to gloss over over he of life although play up certain iki pots to make themselves. Same gratiot grim. I just i just like it when occasionally there's a little sliver of reality in inefficient testicle story. That's like garish. it's not that he's not that's a show off about how gratuities but sensitive like. Oh yeah this old real makes everything else saying better. It makes everything more tense. Because you think that's fair enough. People are people. You know the stupid response. The simple peter is supposed to you know people are your this goods in it. No so how realistic can bits like. No no no no no have there are drugs fuck you. There are some creatures around. Yeah no but it's like in a world where dragons do exist. That's just a thing that exists. That's not that's no longer stupid. it's stupid to have narrative jumps though make sense in this world you have created and then to be like that's what people had lost. They just started breaking breaking their own rules. Exactly you have to have internal consistency An even if you have an open magic system. thrones have has an unexplained kind of vague magic abilities in the world They have to have to function by a certain role. It has been praised that which otherwise you lose all white In the same way that gandalf riding tools now school in return of the king and defies that same. What beim of light that. He's used throughout anytime you say gandalf the magic. He's only got three or four spells up his hand and that's that's his thing that's what he does as this is a great and powerful demi-god wizard thing sight yet but he's still a conscious. Am you know a ring for the for the end game. He the do who comes in. And just like a hot check it out circuit is otherwise. The story sucks because no one wants to say the massively powerful character just braised through everything right story to be there. What did you ever watch a program. Called captain scarlet sir. Do you know the thunderbirds yes. Captain scholar was like a thunderbird he was it was the marionette thing he might even be in the extended universe for liner and various captain scarlet. James bond looking. Isn't it weird the for a period of time marionette. Entertainment was mainstream. I'm jim henson is not a marian it but he's you know the next best thing in hey still Essential part of styles of a of a cinema. But his hold on hopefully will play you. The intro and this is why i always i. It's captain scarlet. They've just shut the twenty th century television with a cylinder error. Nothing few is home. Can you hear anything. I can hear echoing of the sound of mine invoice unless a not something set by knowing that you can't hear the noise You're meant to be able to hear the noise. Jimmy i can. I'll show i can sing it by dunno literates the melody that The not too bad. It was very upbeat. And the thing is is the the first few lyrics. Were captain scarlet indestructible. So the whole thing was you can't kill him. He got nothing bad can happen. Yes is fucking what storyteller there. That's why i never go. Invested in superman is that like the the only way you're ever going to develop that character is if you kill people he cares about obey find a way to not make him have him being indestructible all alternatively. And this is the i. Think the route that The boys went down tv. Show the boys is you. Have the superman character become corrupted absolutely by the absolute power that he has which is that old trope of power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and. I think that's a much more interesting way to go with the characters like this guy's invulnerable and a superhero and a complete worst person. You could ever pope to mate because that's yeah is that is that good then the boys despite after the first season I'm not big into superheroes stuff like i got. I got through all the marvel cinematic universe throwing because they really well majdan actually. No i didn't even get through. I haven't seen several of the better movies in the series just purely because of fatigue it so many times you can have a person discover the powell's and then some bad stuff happens and then they overcome it to become. It's always about the tesseract. And i feel like i feel like i missed the film where they explain. Why the fuck anyone cares about the. "I have motive. I have. I have other people that are both. I put everything into a justice for jason box. Google account and i sent an email not just one of the officers but to all the officers and no one will respond to me. Nobody will talk to me. No will return my calls. I have no idea what's going on. I can really appreciate her dedication. And her passion as a mom. And i completely understand her frustration and her desire to know more about what's going on with the investigation to have more interaction with the investigators and and all of what she said. I totally understand where she's coming from. But at the same time. I keep thinking back to the fact that we don't know what's happening in the investigation at this point. There may be a reason why they can't respond to her. Why they can't talk to her about all this data. That's on the phone. We just don't know we'll according to the family or maybe i've read this somewhere. I can't. I can't remember but that jason's phone was found with him totally destroyed. The sim card totally bashed. And so this is incredibly important. Information and pepper says that she gave it to them as you heard her cut. Mike says the sheriff told him they never got the icloud information. And you know who knows if they can actually use it if it's if she's had it i like there's just a lot of things that we don't know whether the chain of evidence was yes you because it didn't come directly from the cloud to the police department. There was that intermediary than you need that because you know everything a defense attorney can go through and say. Hey you know. We don't know what happened with this. Can we trust this. Don't you know so. I don't know but i i'm with you like when i first heard. I was like man this lady's figuring this out. She's trying but sometimes that can be a blessing and a curse to an investigation. Although of course my heart goes out to the family. It's like you want to have justice for what happened and so delicate balance for investigators to both try to comfort work with the family but at the same time do everything possible to make. Sure they have a solid case and to make sure they can get justice for jason I can imagine that comes into conflict quite a lot. Well yeah. I think that a lot of times the cases that we hear in true crime or just on made for tv movies. You see this bonding that happens with the family. And they're like in it and the detective comes and talks to them and they have this great relationship. Sometimes it happens. Yeah i can imagine that it doesn't you know it doesn't always happen. And so we know but one thing pepper called police on was that he had been raped over the summer by a man in newport was raped and he he called me about it. And i told him i said get out of there. Go to the police right now. You went to the police. He told jennifer about it and in his journal. That i headed to the share stupid of me but i did Talked about in great detail. He's better friends. He's put down name and his address and what happened and how he got. He got drugged or something and then he woke up and he looked over he saw pulling up his passing. Don't worry you liked it. You know and she wrote about it and everything that he said to me and jennifer and the sheriff does not want to press charges on the rapist..

"Because he was a dumb kid. You wanted to manage his friends. He thought riley wasn't very thoughtless his friend he lived at my house by say. Probably three weeks story passed away so he lived in my house for about a week and he went outside had a phone call for a couple hours. I don't know who was with. I'm pretty sure. It was with jan. Because i walked out in her and a woman and then the next thing i know it's two days later he comes up to me and he says dude. I feel like i'm beating on your house. I said you really not. You're welcome to stay here. And he ended up going back saw he wanted to fit in. He wanted to hang out with friends. He was a very social person. I know he be there. Yeah he didn't get riley wasn't supposed to be there matt matt and riley set him up. You know what. I mean matt lied him sale. You know all those people that they knew what was going to happen. But you know i think a lot of it was just probably thought he was gonna go get high and hang out with. His buddies actually went and bought them. Mcdonald's before he went out there he spent like eight. They got his debit card records later and he ended up spending like eighty dollars at mcdonald's that he brought out there for these people to feed them before he gets to twenty two year years road. I mean he had to feel really conflicted about going there because he sends the screenshot basically saying if anything happens to me. I met twenty two urines road which is so contradictory to go out and buy food for these people. I mean that's an active caring and and love to feed somebody so he picks up the food. Like these are my good friends. And i'm so excited to see them but at the same time sends a text saying if anything happens to me. It's these people. Yeah and c. Elle's the one remember who's basically saying. Oh it's fine. He's not going to be there. I promise me paraphrasing but like it's all good and everything's gonna be okay and so he's going out there thinking he's gonna just party and hang out with his friends and that this person is not going to be there so there is a level of trust but then there's also that feeling i mean i remember i mean nothing to this extreme but going places as a young woman partying where i'm like you know this feels a little not right to me and you know sometimes you trust those instincts and fortunately enough time i did but i think that this is one of those conflicting situations where it's like for some reason. He felt worried about it but he also wanted his watch. He wanted his drugs. He wanted to go have fun with his friends and he sent that screenshot to his aunt's boyfriend who he lived with. And that was the last communication. Jason had with any of his family or friends. Jason never made it back home to his answer that night or the next day his aunt would report him missing on the evening of the sixteenth and she called his mom to tell her that he was missing. Leave my life. I i got the truck and i'm off to find my son..

"You know. Their parents found out. Ostad i've witnessed from like years of being there. I wouldn't even. I don't even know it's top five now absolutely. I think i have a top five and this is on this would be mine like the the. Td dykstra himself on their list You know the the day where we went down to the local pizza place I lost your credit. Oh all you guys you got me a fucking cheeseburger messed up on it. And i freaked the funnel. They might reach. Boy either chris it wrong or they mustered up to chris. Part it up but we also did order. Yeah we ordered it wrong. But like dave bassett up way more than like order to this. Is that matt gets mustard in it. Also the they don't all of christmas like just put mostert on this. Unlike put a lot on just say. I'm pretty sure you order extra on that shit because it tasted like dog. I don't know if you can recall it but at one point you were scraping off. Oh yeah i do remember. I remember just gave up now through the fucking thing out in like walked out. I was pissed. You don't you. don't come effect man and it's fucking food. Let me tell you that that was probably where we went too far but soon thing i mean he didn't go too far because i didn't buy it if i have bought it. You guys were done that. I'd have been fucking past. That's true but you rob bought it so fucking. I can't really say much joke's on me horseradish on there's online fucking no but like so. That was happening. So first off i had to go back and find rob's card to the loss of the parking lot matt was mad because of food and then one of the girls there was having a breakdown so this is just like a crazy fucking louis. Well there was a lot of different mental breakdowns a. Td's like all the time. Well i wanna get to my favorite story ok. Tedi turned very very pale. Matt knows what's what's happening here. Why is either. I don't think so. This man turned very very pal. Got sick and vomited. He thought he pukes donald stay just turned to us. It was like throw it out. I don't even this near we throw throw it out. There was literally nothing wrong in the blanket for like ten minutes. Ceman was insisting that we'd like dispose of it he didn't even puke got no. There's nothing hey. I don't even think it was near him..

"Doesn't track with the character. We now and i guess maybe that's the first sign of like holding him into the darkness. Because i feel like a weird star wars thing was happening here like honestly this entire episode. I feel like you know. He's trying to stay in the good side of the force but the dark side keeps seductively calling his name and join us and be part of us. I don't know maybe. I mean those weren't the vibes i was getting. I just felt like he was just being closed off for no reason. I don't know it wasn't bad. Yeah they're parts. I actually enjoyed it just. It didn't feel like much of anything. I guess it's because there was so much going on up to this point that we stripped a lot of shit away and that's gotta be intentional of course but maybe stripped too much away. It is weird. Because we i mean even before we had the story arc. We just finished. I feel like there were lots of threads and lots of complications. And this is like nice untidy. I guess this really is turning a page to a new chapter wiping a lotta shit away and going back to a very small core cast on it seems like this is the start of the four them going from place to place because avalon is sending them there and ed curious each episode is going to be like its own capsule like this almost like monster of the week kind of situation or if any of them were bleed into the next week at all. I think this was a slow start to a new chapter. I guess yeah more than anything. It's a very simple problem. That is introduced and solved in the same twenty two minutes. And i guess more than anything. We're not used to that. Exactly yeah anyway. So they're in the heavy metal cave. they're talking being. Angela sees hieroglyphs and she's like water and she's very intrigued by them and so they all go to examine them and goliath sees it more to a picture of him instead of just generic argh oil. Okay that's what i thought i saw. I really know 'cause. Like i should have rebound and watch that part again because i didn't feel there. Was that much difference between what he saw and what they saw. What they see is the arch made. What he sees is a garg oil. I don't know if it's him but there are definitely like wings the appear in his vision. Dacha this place is really given him the he. Gbd's though we can tell and dream boat suggests. Hey if you're getting bad vibes from this place why don't we just find another cave to hunker down right. I'm sure there are many many options. We don't have to be in this one right. Which is very logical. Thank you during boat. Goliath agrees and so they start heading out by immediately goliath sees mocking images of el capitan. And hey con leaving. You'll cry boy. Little wiener baby guys. stop the bullying. Yeah goliath he's is a measured and levelheaded man so he obviously sees this as some kind of hallucination or are waking drink. oh no now. He attacked him. Yep he jumped at the ghost and he is choking them and slams him against the wall and you fucking idiot. That's dream boat and angela. Level-headed measured man. I just have to say hearing go. I actually like scream a little league. He actually had. There's like a fear. It was a little unsettling because you'd never ever hear. Sounds like that coming from him. Yeah i don't get why he's so freaked out about this. It seems so obvious what's happening. But he won't talk about it so instead. We just have angela and dream boat being choked against a cliff to a commercial break. Thanks for listening. Okay so glad didn't choke to death but if not for bronx maybe he would have. Yeah thank god for bronx. He knows his master's doing something insane. And so he runs full speed and tackles the fuck out of goliaths which is impressive. I mean he's a big dude. I don't appreciate you saying master from the same clutch of eggs. That's his brother. Gargoyles fucking weird. They were hatched together but once the dog. Okay i'll never go over that. I'll bring it up any opportunity where they hatched together or was he hatched with the brogue oil is he that dogs dad. Is he that dog. Okay so brother bronx. He has successfully rescued dream boat. Angela and at this point glide is having full on hallucinations. And he's not sure how to handle it. It's almost as if he can't tell he's seeing things but how he not realize that what he's seeing is real. I don't know. Because i mean that's literally a plot point like he doesn't realize it's not real until later on but he sees remote angela morph into hey con el capitan. They keep switching back and forth. I just don't understand how it's not obvious that these things he's seeing should be ignored like push through it on. And do we think the bronx is seeing or sensing things or is. He just worried about goliath and his actions. I think bronx sees what angela andrine boater saying. Which is this man. Suddenly behaving wildly out of turn. You know nobody understands it and he is not being very forthcoming with what's going on in his head. So instead of opening up he runs off into the heavy. Metal cave shouting. You're in danger from me. You just can't control yourself so you're gonna leave these two to fend for themselves in a strange land and god damn seaside storm. And here's the thing that makes it sound like. He knows that that is actually angela. That is actually dream boat. But for some reason when they switch and he sees el capitan. Hey con he like you said can't control his urges to attack like i don't get glide come on you're like the most even kill man. You always control your emotions. Yeah almost to a fault right. I know i guess everyone has a breaking point. I guess i mean it just doesn't seem like we were shown him getting there. It seems like he's fine and then he's not yeah and he is showing this kind of. I'm just going gonna say cowardly behaviour by running away from this problem leaving his girlfriend and his daughter. Yeah good luck. You can't trust me okay. But dreamcoat being dream boat is like fuck that noise. I am not letting him just run off on his own and he's obviously having issues right now. Yeah and so they chase after him they chase after him and this is when we briefly catch a glimpse of what i'm assuming are this episodes antagonised green flying glue. Great glowing gray. Is that evil. All i would eat that i would eat evolves. Yeah i'll be like you're not a problem anymore. They love. i'll i'll eat a fucking evil. I don't care. And where are the heroes of the story. Now it's two glowing. Ps i'm out. Don't mind pete. Not eating peas mushy. Little balls no thank. You put some butter and some salt and pepper. I'll eat that. No no liz not allowing it. Because that's gross. I'm saving you from yourself..

"It's a weird story but you know you you read any like any. There's plenty of places where you can go and find people proving quote unquote that this didn't this isn't real. There's no actual reports and you know there was no village there and this guy this guy that supposedly reported it didn't actually exist and all that kind of stuff so i don't know i'm not to say which is the nature of these tail. Yeah this is from birch. He says hey brothers. Did y'all get the box i sent you. I was worried that the beers exploded on route. Nope they exploded in the queue explode there was it was good. Yeah he probably heard by now Yeah maybe well he says. He's enjoying the uncharted series. So he's must be skipping stuff. Skipper skipper man. I we drink those beers on the show. Yeah and thank you so much. It was awesome. Yeah the pipe tool. All that stuff and smokes. Yeah he says like dang it was. That was really awesome. Buddy he says. I am enjoying the uncharted series. Stasis boxes any check on the resonant frequency of the insides of these boxes wavelength is sustained by the boxes. Are they different for each box. It's crazy it does seem to be a way to preserve something or someone until danger passes best birch very interesting stuff an enigma. Okay and one where future data is possible. That's right this is one of the reasons why i latch onto. I just gives you hope. More research can be done. That's right. yeah and there's and it's easy to see it. It's not like it's also not like a you know where you're like. Well what else can we do to figure this out like so little attention has been paid to this place. You can come up with all kinds of stuff. yeah okay. Do you have the bribes to be able to get it done. Yeah just need yousef. That's okay.

"Tyler has not been charged with anything related to autumn staff or the baby shaking the alleged baby shaking of devante but he was convicted of shaking his previous child which he now denies that he did even though he did go to jail for it and admitted to it. Our goal in the podcast is always to be as fair and balanced as possible. And so we wanted to get a second opinion because it just seems like things aren't adding up. It's but it's a lot of circumstantial evidence but a lotta time. We like to talk to the investigators who were on the scene. You can give us that first person account but because of the nature of this investigation. Seattle police like you said. They're not willing to talk to us so we had to go outside to get a little expert opinion. Yes we reached out to jennifer. She's the retired. Former director of the san diego police department crime laboratory and she has done a lot of media on her thoughts on that whole mom case. Laurie valo chad day bell case and just has done a phenomenal job. You know kind of breaking down that crime scene and we also spoke with her about her thoughts on the Tiktok video that Some teens captured who made the grisly discovery of a suitcase. That had body parts in it. That was one of the cases that you covered kim. Yeah that was the wash away the tiktok murder case. Yeah so check that one out. If you haven't hsien has gotten some brent center some of the reports on the case and this is what she had to say. It is really fascinating. I mean when you pull yourself out from the fact that it's very tragic if also completely baffling unesco unanmous found lou. Being face down in the lake she was only closed and she had a vest on zipped all up to top of her neck. She hadn't based on everything we know had been in the water for more than probably a few hours at the most on a very busy day with lots of people in the area so one of the first things. That was very interesting is that she was fully dressed so when they pulled around the water and unzipped her jacket or her best. You can see there. Were shoelaces around her neck. So the first thing you wonder is a she strangled and then someone zipped up the the best to hide that and then put her in the water thinking that this she wouldn't be found that sort of thing you would think of it..

"Trusted s pd and really were like. Hey we're we're going to let this process play out. And i mean they were just so out of their depth. I feel like it's it's totally fair of them to say you need to test this evidence and right needs to go to the top. Well i mean it's fair to say that but it's also fair for the crime lab to say we don't have the capacity and we have other cases ahead of you and they've offered to pay for that well that's a whole nother conversation. I mean yeah. Yeah if the family wants to pay for the dna testing than obviously that should happen. Yeah so there's also autumn's phone which they found but it was waterlogged since they reopened the investigation because spd's reopened the investigation after the family was like look at this dna evidence. Let's send it off. And since then they sent autumn's phone to the fbi lab and they're trying to get data off of it because obviously that's incredibly important who she was talking to. By the way when tyler came in for an interview a few days after autumn's death he gave them permission to look at his phone remember. He's saying they didn't have any contact. They downloaded it and discovered that there was no location data on his phone after august tenth so they couldn't use those things to figure out where he was and they thought that was strange. One of the detectors working the case did try to get a court order to get tyler's phone records but it was denied because they didn't have probable cause so they downloaded data office phone but then later there was a court order for phone records. So what's what's the difference there. Yes so what happened was. Is that when tyler came in for his interview they asked for his phone and he totally complied and was like. Here's my phone. You won't find anything on it. And he signed a document saying i'm giving spd permission to look at my phone and they took it during that interview and we're going to download the information from that download. The one thing that we know for sure is that. There was no location data on the phone after august tenth because it had been turned off right. Okay i don't know why then that detective ended up going to the judge to ask for a warrant because he freely given his phone. Brent says you know one thing could be that a defense attorney could argue that. He didn't have an attorney there and he gave away and so that was a way to really protect. The fact. see why this is yes. Okay and then brent also takes issue with the fact that the emmy concluded that autumn's hands didn't have defensive wounds and he took a really close look at the photos of her hands and to his eye and he had it blown up four hundred times..

"And so we we have to tell these these kids. Just because they're a good person doesn't mean they can't do bad things and so that's that's kind of the message i hope to get to my granddaughter's that i didn't give to my daughter and fortunately she didn't have any issues with church or anyb- anybody abusing her but i certainly did not guide her in the right way in that sense because i just like i said. I just assumed that i was the only one that this never happened to. Well i think I hear a lot in the church that they don't teach sex ed because they don't want the kids to go out and have sex and so let these kids are like ignorant as to what is healthy. And what is what is not proper. Yeah we need to teach that our bodies or are going to respond. They were built that way. God intended us to have feelings when we are around the opposite sex. That's normal so we need to make sure kids understand but their barriers in their boundaries that need to be taken But you're absolutely right when we don't talk about it then. We figured out on their own and we could. We can all imagine when you're leaving teenagers around devices to figure out things that's why we have. We have the internet now. Which when we when you and i were yes we didn't have the internet. We didn't have cellphones now. If you wanted to a right and you had to go to the that kind of a neighborhood to get something yes yes. It was a lot more difficult. Yes absolutely a too. Many parents are embarrassed to talk to their children about sex. And you know everybody listening. Needs to listen. You need to find a way to talk to them about these things and one of the techniques that i use with my daughter just in talking about sex general in a kids. Don't wanna hear hear their mom and dad talk to him about this..

"Eat it. It is fucking. It's the book though. That's so funny. Despite it also not making sense he eats the goddamn book. He like unhinges. His jaw like a python takes it like a real pro. If you know what. I mean take all kinds of takes world you know. Oh okay liz continuing on my insane random shit. That doesn't make sense. Oh great if the book isn't allowed into avalon him having eaten it shouldn't matter because now archie shouldn't be allowed to go into avalon because he has the book inside of him like he is the book now. He is the fuck book. That's still human magic and it's not a book they can't go through the gates. It's human magic. They can't go through the gates. What the fuck now. The human magic is literally coursing through his body and soul. You know it's just another thing that we have to overlook to get to the end of this fucking episode. Oh yeah this should have. I mean there's so many things they should have broken it but this should have been like the human magic canco in full stop. You can have the other tools. This can't go. yeah memories or something. And i guess it could be argued that that's what they're saying he's doing but he literally ingested a book he ate it put it in his mouth. He didn't lay on hands and say a spell or whatever and absorb the knowledge he put it in his body like one giant by should see me to full twelve subway who low it is disturbingly erotic. It's the sleeping king. Arthur over on the sleeping king. Maybe he is the king so that could be thanking the fairies. That would make sense if they don't actually show a sleeping king next episode. I'm going to attack something. Well we go to break on an easy laugh from one of the arches and at this point they're identical so i i couldn't even tell which one it doesn't matter i don't care. Do you remember during city of stone on big. Mac's wife and son bringing bowls of fruit in during one of the meetings. He was having both a fruit in the scene. Liz did you see him. I can see it. But i didn't make that connection principe pants in maga's where did they fucking get bananas island. It's a mystical island. Presumably between time and space. Yeah the naked anything. What just go with it there. There are banana trees in this book. And i want tropical. He's not a tropical island. We don't know where we are. I know that we are north of the equator. I don't know it's just weird. That they were specifically bananas with a fucking mega doesn't own a banana. Is this weird. Dick looking yellow thing is always dick's with you. Dirty bird all right. I do have to say this. I mean this is the thought that had forever and ever go but anytime that magazine is around. Prince pants pants. He's just like longingly looking at her. Like when tom comes back they have this big giant hug. And he's like had a cut of mega. She's like looking real sad now. I think by this point. They've gotten together. I think there are a couple. Do you think he had a look. He did not like the hug she gave tom. Maybe tom said something fucked up for left. Maybe maybe i do. I think they got together. You gotta figure its proximity in time. You know. They have grown old together. Yeah they. I'm sure have become very close to know everything about one another sharon just kinda fell into that role and eventually they hooked up and they're like oh. This isn't so bad so at this point. We're six hours before we originally started. And we get the gargoyles. Wake up montage. But it's all new gargoyles. So that's fine i'll let it slide but then we immediately attack happens and this the attack that tom told us about before this laser most of the gargoyles we saw earlier in the kind of triage area. The castle yeah. The weird sisters are shooting green magic hypnotize big mac into mona lasers and shit list because they're hypnotized. We hardly notice that they don't speak. And it certainly has nothing to do with the show not wanting to pay the actors for this miniseries like it's not it's not that it's because we're hypnotized which is hilarious. Because i definitely talked a lot while hypnotize before. They're chatty typically so yeah the attack happens. Gargoyles are getting fucked up archie shows up and he just like some and it's like oh this was not the real attack. I wanted to give you a little taste of my power. You twenty four hours before. I kill you. Just kill him now man so this means he attacked tom. Leaves comes back. He attacks again when goliath and dream boat or their then leaves and then finally attacks. We'll see we don't really know if that third attacks gonna come but for fuck sake if you want. All these mother fuckers off the island what are we doing. I don't know it's weird but the weird sisters have the same question. Yeah so let's take a listen to how they feel about this. Why did you call us off. If we wait until dawn the gargoyles will be stone. Puny humans will be all that stands between us taty. Besides i need to give them time to bring goliath to the island. My vengeance would not be complete without him Because we gotta get goliath there. He's got his revenge. Wants revenge on goya. For reason he didn't even kill you. Do know use jumped off a cliff because glide stepped away. I thought it was really wild. And i nine brought up earlier. But he shows no animosity towards hudson who led the attack on him in the heavy metal cave and again no qualms with recruiting dimona..
