A highlight from God's Plan for World Evangelism (Part 1)
"Mark chapter 16 in your Bibles. Mark chapter 16, last chapter in the book, I believe. Mark chapter 16. God's plan for world evangelization. And I'm happy to say here this morning that he does have a plan. No FNS or buts about it. For world evangelization. God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. So loved the world that he gave his only begotten son. Okay? Let me ask the question, why is Trinity Baptist Church here? I could say a lot of negative things and then I would think of some more. Trinity Baptist Church here is not here just to make a name for itself, even though I might say that it has. It's not here to entertain people. It's here to carry out a tremendous commission that God has given us that we're going to read about here in just a moment. But it's tremendous and great responsibility that the Lord has given to us. It says it all right here in these verses I'm going to read this morning. Here in Mark 16, we're going to start reading in verse 15. And he said unto them, his disciples, who was following him, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. And he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe. In my name they shall cast out devils. They shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up servants or serpents. And if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Would you bow with me in prayer? Heavenly Father, we thank you this morning for this opportunity just to stand here and open this precious book called the Bible, the Word of God. Lord, we thank you for this month already. Here it is, the first day, first Sunday, Lord, that we now have entered into our missions month. Father, I will first of all want to thank you for how you have used the Trinity Baptist Church down through the years in the area of missions. That's been made possible because of faithful people that have followed your leadership, your guidance, and have been obedient to doing their part in making this ministry what it is, and of course I believe it's going to grow. The sun never sets on the ministry of this church. We're so thankful we gave you all the honor, the glory, and the praise for it. And then Father, as Brother Shelton said, we do thank you for those visiting today. We thank you for every person that's here today. We pray for that person who may be here today, who's never trusted Christ. May this be that special day in their lives when they repent of sin and give their hearts to Christ. And then I'll pray, Lord, for the encouragement and strength of your people. And Lord, I think I said it, but I want to repeat myself, and I'm thankful that the church appreciates their pastor, but not any more than I appreciate every one of them. Thank you, God, for them and their faithfulness in doing what they're doing to make this church what the Bible says it ought to be, and even carrying out and doing what our passage reads we have read here this morning.

I just don't know how as a fiduciary you can promote products that pay you a commission before your clients make a dime. St.-Therese-I-Will-Be-Love-LOH-23
"From the Liturgy of the Hours of the Roman Rite, from the Office of Readings, from the Autobiography of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. Since my longing for martyrdom was powerful and unsettling, I turned to the epistles of St. Paul in the hope of finally finding an answer. By chance the 12th and 13th chapters of the first epistle to the Corinthians caught my attention, and in the first section I read that not everyone can be an apostle, prophet or teacher, that the church is composed of a variety of members, and that the eye cannot be the hand. Even with such an answer revealed before me, I was not satisfied and did not find peace. I persevered in the reading and did not let my mind wander until I found this encouraging theme. Set your desires on the greater gifts, and I will show you the way which surpasses all others. For the apostle insists that the greater gifts are nothing at all without love, and that this same love is surely the best path leading directly to God. At length I had found peace of mind. When I had looked upon the mystical body of the church, I recognized myself in none of the members which St. Paul described, and what is more, I desired to distinguish myself more favorably within the whole body. Love appeared to me to be the hinge for my vocation. Indeed, I knew that the church had a body composed of various members, but in this body the necessary and more noble member was not lacking. I knew that the church had a heart and that such a heart appeared to be a flame with love. I knew that one love drove the members of the church to action, that if this love were extinguished, the apostles would have proclaimed the gospel no longer, the martyrs would have shed their blood no more. I saw and realized that love sets off the bounds of all vocations, that love is everything, and that the same love embraces every time and every place. In one word, that love is everlasting. Then, nearly ecstatic with the supreme joy in my soul, I proclaimed, Oh Jesus, my love, at last I have found my calling, my call is love. Certainly, I have found my place in the church, and you gave me that very place, my God. In the heart of the church, my mother, I will be love, and thus I will be all things, as my desire finds its direction. Oh God, who open your kingdom to those who are humble and to little ones, lead us to follow trustingly in the way of Saint Therese, so that through her intercession, we may see your eternal glory revealed through our Lord Jesus Christ, your son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. "We talked about survival last night. You know there's a saying I've always thought, don't wait until you're thirsty to dig a well. A lot of times we wait until the 15th round before we've been knocked down, before we go for help. Isn't that true? Sometimes we have to hit that bottom bottom, I guess. Just don't take things for granted. Good lives, lives that are together are not my accident. They're my right choices. The world just says you're lucky, but we know it's not luck. We know it's not luck. You don't order godly kids in the catalog. I'm a godly kid, respectful. You don't order me, you have to build lives. And I tell you what, we live in a day that, I tell you what, it's kind of sad. God doesn't give you wisdom. To see things how he sees them, and actually to see through things. To see through the deception of Satan. Look, two things I begged for in my life. I begged to be a solider, and I begged to raise my kids. He used to beg God for wisdom, because I knew his past was going to be greater than me. He used to say, if you want to mess up your life, that's your choice, but you're not messing your kids' lives up. And I don't know, I guess God, I just begged God for wisdom, and then James, he says he'll give it to you liberally if you ask. And I do believe he has. I got a lady in my church, my secretary, I'm going to be the secretary. She said, I think there is certainly something about raising kids. And if I really even know what I said, I just need to ask her. I think she wrote down everything I've ever said. And it's nice to have people listen. You know, it's ironic, people in my church now are more like me than my own kids. That's just the way it is. They're more like their pastor. They've been influenced by their pastor. My people have been influenced by me. They've been sitting under my preaching group, some of them, for 29 years. So, you know, they actually thank and remind me of how my kids would be. I see my kids, and they've kind of sometimes drifted away from different ways. And it kind of hurts me, but they become like their pastor. And, you know, so we just need to try to encourage each other, you know, hold together. You know, we're one body of many members. Amen. I think I heard one time that a car has about 30 ,000 parts. You know, it takes all of them to put together. It only takes one of them to miss malfunctions before you're in trouble. Isn't that the truth? You know, when one malfunction, you know, you have maybe eight cylinders on your car. You know, when one of them malfunctions, you lose a lot more than one -eighth of your power. Anyone in those cars knows if one plug or one wire is misfiring, it's like you lose 70 % of your power. And, you know, we got to make sure we don't malfunction on starry again. Mm -hmm. Joe, Steve will bring her own water tonight, because I'm not falling for that one yet. You know, we just need to work together as a body. You know, hey, I always tell my people, the devil only needs one heart to work out of. Don't let your heart be that one he works out of. It's a dangerous place to be, too. And, well, I think we have enough work out here. We have enough people that I think God's work, besides having Christians, amen, but Ezekiel, if you're Ezekiel 33 now, verse, I just thought we'd start at verse 31. It says, and they came unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear my words, but they will not do them. For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after covetousness, passions, desires, things like that. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument, for they hear thy words, but they do them not. They were too powerful at first, aren't they? Man, I just read that. They point that verse, so many people are, they sit in church, and, you know, they may say, oh, it's a good message, whatever, but they just don't do them. God says, happier little do these things, amen, you know? And just knowing them and not doing them actually just makes you miserable, probably, right? Some people just have enough religion to bug them instead of bless them. Isn't that the truth? Yeah, just enough to just make them miserable without making them joyful. One guy I've told, and I've heard this all the time, but he's going to tell me in church, he says, the pastor's job is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable, you know? So I'm here to try to disturb you where you're comfortable and comfort you where you're hurting. Amen? And so we come here tonight and turn with me now to Mark, Matthew, Mark, I think, with the gospel, where Christ is portrayed as his servant. You know, the four gospels in Matthew, God is portrayed as a king, as a king, and Mark as a servant, and Mark and Luke as a son of man, and John, the son of God. And we find here one of my passages I love, and I don't know, anyone have favorite, I love, I have so many favorite passages, I guess, but I like this one because it's about four men, I guess, a four, but I guess I can't even say for sure, I'm sure there were probably men that took a man of palsy that was paralyzed through the Peter's house roof to get him to Jesus to be healed. It says there in chapter two, no, actually this just follows where I talked about it the other day about the leper that was healed, and Jesus said in verse 44, right before that in chapter one, see thou say nothing to any man that would go thy way and show thyself to the priests and offer for like cleanliness these things which Moses commanded for a testimony to them. But he went out and began to publicize it much, to blaze abroad the matter, and so much that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city. I mean, God, Jesus at the end is so well known now, it's hard for him to even, you know, move and around stuff, and set him up in the desert places, and they came to him from every quarter. So we come here now, it says here, and again, he entered into Capernaum, you know, that's kind of where he kind of made his home, where Peter was after some days, and it was noise that he was in the house. And straightway, many were gathered together in so much that there was no room for them, no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door. And he preached the word unto them, and they came unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was born of four, and when they could not come nigh unto him from the press, in other words, the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was, and when they had broken a nub, they let down a bad brim the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he sent unto the sick of the palsy, saying, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. And there were certain of the scribes sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, you know, isn't that amazing? Here in this crowd, there are some hearts that were very, very ungodly. Here they are just looking for a reason to cause trouble, looking for a reason, observing just with a critical spirit, you know, and sadly, they can be in a church, someone comes just to be a critic, but there were certain of the scribes sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, why does this man thus speak blaspheming? Who can forgive sins but God only? See, they knew exactly what Jesus was saying he was. Jesus said, I am God, you know, and that made them angry because they didn't want to receive it except that, and immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye of these sayings in your hearts? Whether it is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, thy sins be forgiven thee, or to say, Arise and take up thy bed and walk. But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins. He said to the sick of palsy, I say unto thee, Arise and take up thy bed and go thy way unto thy house, and immediately he arose, took up his bed, and went forth before them all, insomuch that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this faction. Isn't that amazing? You know, I love that. You know how exciting when God's moving in the hearts of people. When you have a revival, you know, it's not about one person. It's about what God is doing in the hearts of people. And your testimony has brought tears to my eyes. You know, man, isn't that great? Somebody cared enough to go out and make that extra effort, and here he is in church today, almost waiting ahead on the sight of somebody who cared for his soul. You know, I had one psalmist who said, There's no way I cared for my soul. You know, tonight, that's why we're here. We're one beggar telling another beggar before we found bread telling people. I thank God I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home. And I tell you, I didn't have to make us go to church. We loved church. We loved revival meetings. Loved evangelists. You know, that was just kind of the highlight of the year, really. It was like the Super Bowl, you know? And I just thank God. We were poor. It was just like church mice. There were six kids we were poor so we could get out. But I tell you what, I remember I was a little boy. I had my own little horn, you know? I won't tell you. Because there was an evangelist. He blew up. He had a horn. And I would not get out in the middle. I wanted to be like him. I tell you what, that's the kind of heros you ought to be wanting your kids to have. My friend today, if you don't get them in church, if you don't build up the man of God, if you don't build up authority in your life, it will come back to bite you like you've never seen. Go ahead and teach your children disrespect to pastors, to the president, to police.

The Eric Metaxas Show
A highlight from Pastor Greg Locke
"Ladies and gentlemen, looking for something new and original, something unique and without equal. Look no further. Here comes the one and only Eric Metaxas. Hey there, folks. Welcome to Friday, which means I'm in California. I've never traveled this much. Chris, I don't know who I am anymore. I don't know where I am. It's unbelievable. I find it best to get a Sharpie with someone as busy as you are to kind of write it down on your arm so when you wake up in the morning, you know. You can just look over. Oh, Iowa. Thank you. Before I forget, in this hour, we're talking to our friend Pastor Greg Locke from the Nashville area in Tennessee. He has a book out. Very exciting. Yesterday, I was on the phone with my friend Ken Fish. And, you know, these are the two people, Ken Fish and Greg Locke, that are talking about deliverance and are involved in the ministry of casting out demons. Now, if you don't believe in that, you might as well say you don't believe in the periodic table or science. This is reality. If you've ever been around it, I defy you to tell me what you think is going on. But anyway, we're talking to Greg Locke and that'll be our one today. I'm not sure who we have an hour or two yet. It'll be somebody great. But it will be somebody great. That's the only thing I can say. And my hair looks like it was styled by Vivek Ramaswamy's people today. I don't know what's going on with my hair, so please try not to look at it. Yeah, Eric, it's very important. You don't want to go full Bollywood with your hair. It just will look too fantastic and terrific. That's what Vivek is doing. He's going full Bollywood. It's kind of like Elvis on steroids. Elvis, Prince, Jerry Lee Lewis is kind of a pompadour kind of thing happening. OK, but listen, we don't want to talk about that. We want to talk about the fact that I'm traveling so much. Why? I don't know why, but I will tell you next week I'll be in Grand Rapids doing an event at Cornerstone University. After that, I go back to Dallas, where I'm doing something Christ for the Nations. 7th. That's October Then I go to San Antonio. I'm speaking in San Antonio October 11th. Sorry, October 10th. Then I go back to Dallas. We're doing a number of Socrates in the City events, which are totally sold out. I'm sorry about that. But if you go to Socrates in the City dot com, you can watch it live. It's going to be October 12th live and you can watch it. I hope you will. I want people to understand that, you know, it can be fun to watch it live because it's not edited. So all the flubs and fluffs and a lot of cursing. I'm just being honest with you. A lot of cursing. We have some guests. It gets very wrong. It's very salty. But we edit that out eventually. But if you want to see it, if you want to hear it, if you've never heard. I was just going to say I now can just you tell it what you want to leave in. And, you know, if you want to keep in the word, you know, honky tonk, it will leave that in. But it'll it'll delete other words you don't want in there. So that's Socrates in the city dot com. You can sign up for that's that's the event we're doing on October 12th on October 13th. I'm going to stay there in Dallas, Fort Worth, and we're doing some Socrates in the studio sessions, one of which will be with the great John's Mirack. He has a book coming out called No First Amendment. No First Amendment. Sorry. No Second Amendment. No first. It is a book worthy of John's Mirack writing. So I'm glad he wrote it. So we're going to be doing a Socrates in the studio session with him on October 13th. It just gets crazy. After that, I go to Augusta, Georgia. I'm I'm reading this Augusta, Georgia, Houston. I'll be in Houston on October 19th. Johnson City, Tennessee. That's right. I'm going to Johnson City, Tennessee. From there, I'm doing a number of appearances where we're promoting the letter to the American Church documentary film. So I'm going to Albuquerque, going to San Diego. I'm going to the L .A. area again to promote that. Then I'm going to be in Omaha, Nebraska. Am I making this up? I'm going to be in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm going to be in Colorado Springs. I'm going to be in Rocky Mountain Cavalry Church in Colorado Springs. I'm going to be in Chino Hills with Jack Hibbs. It's crazy. And I actually ask you to pray for me because this is a very solid, crazy schedule that I will need. I need prayer support. And I believe in that. I know there are people who pray because it gets tough.

"Our group of people go on visitation. I mean, we're kind of a close-knit little group. And I think, well, they meet in my office, and they come early, and we sit and talk, and we just have a good time, you know? And they go out. And a lot of times, some of them, they don't really go. They probably just go visit other people in the church. As a pastor, I need people to go visit the church. And different people. You know, people need visitors. You know, I can't visit everybody. And that's how they go. They go visit people. And that's fine. Not everybody's going to be real bold, maybe. But maybe that's just a step in their life. I remember we used to go out, and I told you at the time, I hadn't learned to draw the net. And I'll tell you, my life has been one step at a time. I've never been around a soul winner. I never had been around what I would call a soul-winning pastor. I just, you know, when you have a pastor break someone in church, you ought to be thankful. I've never seen that. I've never seen that. And I've always heard them tell us to do that. But I've never had anybody that seemed like everybody. Well, I always wanted to lead by example. I want to bring people. I want to go out, and I want to try to, you know, and it's hard work. But I want to reach people. And there was a message one time that really turned my life around. I was about 32, 33 years old. I think at the time, and God really works in hearts, too. I actually kind of believe there's certain times in our lives that seems to me like there's a special pull on your life. And I think one was in the early 30s. And Christ went to the cross about age 33. But one day I went to church, and a man, actually his name is Bob Bymers from Anthony, Iowa, preached a message on making God the Lord of your life. He preached about his dad being an insurance agent, how his dad would lead people to the Lord in the office. I was an insurance agent. I witnessed the people in my office, but I never would draw the net. I would kind of stop. Even though I felt there was only conviction, I kind of stopped before I would actually invite them to accept Christ as their savior. Man, that day, my life changed. I said, God, that's what I want to be. I want to be a person that leads people to Christ. I want to draw that net. From that day on, I learned to. In fact, I just got with it right after that. Actually, I told my friend Mark, I said, Mark, I think something happened in my life today. I guess I'll know six months or a year from now. And he asked my wife, he asked my friend, and something did happen to that day in my life. I said, I went from savior to serious. I believe I was saved. I know that about it. You know, I wasn't where God wanted me to be. You know, some people preach this Lord's ship of salvation. He's either the Lord of all or Lord of none. I don't mind that at all. You know, I tell you what, he wants to be Lord of our life. But it's a pretty big statement to say he's always Lord of all in our life. Amen. You know, that's a pretty big statement, you know. But you know what, it wasn't right after that. A friend of mine from high school came into my insurance office and his name is Ed. And I said, Ed, remember last year I talked to you about the Lord? Yeah. He said, yeah, I remember. He said, yeah, it's kind of funny ever since. And there's another guy working with witnessing to me. And, you know, I said, really? He said, I got talking to him about the Lord. And I got to that point where I was a year before where I felt he was under conviction. I said, Lord, God said, the Lord is nudging me. I said, Ed, you know, you don't have to go to church. He said, you can be saved right here in my insurance office. Really? I said, yeah, you can trust Christ right here. Man, that was the beginning of a change in my life. Man, can't trust Christ as a savior in my office. Man, from then on, I'll tell you what, that broke down that barrier, that wall. And I'm so happy that's history. Maybe I don't know where you're at today. Maybe you're where you're still just having trouble just sharing a track. Maybe you're still just, you know, that's still hard for you. You know, maybe you share a track or maybe you don't go much farther, you know. Maybe, you know, how far would you go to reach someone for Christ? Would you say, hey, when do you come to church Sunday and I'll take you out for dinner? I'd do that all the time right before I had my wife cook a meal, whatever, you know. But, you know, even offered to pick them up, right? I remember the first time when we drove from another town back just to go pick up somebody. We did it for years, one kid. I always hated when kids got their license because it seemed like they changed, you know. But, you know, we need to let them know that we care along the way, you know. It says there in 1 Corinthians chapter 3, remember it talked about, in fact, in chapter 2, it talked about, you know, oh, verse 14, I said that last time. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God. For there are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judges all things. Hey, I thought we're not supposed to judge. No, judging things is a sign of maturity. It's a sign of being spiritual that you can judge right from wrong. We judge things from the time we get up to the time we go to bed. Everybody judges things. So we find here, it says, go to chapter 3 then, it says, I, brother, could not speak unto you as spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. It says you haven't grown. You're still acting like baby Christians. You don't have no discernment yet. I have fed you with milk and not with meat. For hitherto ye are not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. He said, you're not growing. You're not listening. You're carnal. You're fleshly. Verse 3, for ye are yet carnal, for whereas there is among you envying and strife and divisions, ye are ye not carnal and walk as men. You know, here's these people. Here's their hearts. Their hearts was envious. Their hearts were strifeful. Their hearts were causing divisions. You know, it says in verse 4, for while one said, I am of Paul and another, I am of Apollos, are ye not carnal? Who then is Paul and who is Apollos? But the ministers by whom he received even as the Lord gave to every man. Verse 6, I have planted, Apollos has water, but guess what? God hath given an increase. I love that verse on you. You know, we can't save nobody. You know what? We can be instruments in people getting saved. We can water. We can soak. We can water. But God gives the increase. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither is he that watereth, but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth, he that watereth are one, and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are laborers together with God. Ye are God's husbandry. Ye are God's building. See, we work together. You know, we help each other. We encourage each other. Man, if somebody brings a visitor, you ought to be right over there too. You know, how much have you brought someone in and nobody went over and talked to your visitor? Wouldn't that be a shame? But do you do that? Man, when you see a visitor, you shouldn't just sit down and plop down and do a survey and see if anyone talked to you today. You know, you should reach out to people. You know, it's so easy for the Spirit of God, but we just need to be faithful.

"As many of you know, we recently published three episodes from the new podcast called At the Table. This is produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints, and I had the privilege to help with this project as a consultant. After publishing the recent podcast on leading saints, those working at the church on this project were so impressed by the results and the feedback from the audience that they asked if we could share more episodes. Enjoy! And don't forget to send your feedback by taking the survey for each individual episode, which we will link in the show notes. help us all follow Jesus Christ together. I'm Jared Pearson, and I have the pleasure to be a co -host on the At the Table podcast. I'm currently in Provo, Utah, but I was born and raised in Livermore, California, right outside San Francisco, California. I ended up serving my mission in New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Manchester Mission, and some of my favorite things are playing pickleball, tennis, or staying inside playing some board games or reading books as well. And I'm just really excited to be part of this. My name is Kami Castrijon. I'm originally from Colombia. I was born and raised there, and I moved to the United States when I was 16. I moved to the big city of New York, and that's where I joined the church. And then soon after, I served my mission in Riverside, California. Then after my mission, I moved to Utah, and I've been here ever since. I love dancing, especially salsa, hiking, baking, and I am thrilled to be part of this amazing podcast At the Table. Welcome to the At the Table podcast. This is a debut podcast where we're going to discuss some important things having to do with YSAs and other people around the church and what new initiatives are going to happen. Specifically, we're going to follow some of the strengthening YSA principles that have been released by the church just recently. And here with us, we have a couple of new guests, and we'll go ahead and let them introduce themselves. My name is John. I'm originally from New Jersey, but I'm here in Utah at the University of Utah. I'm Mary, and I also live here in Utah. I like John, go to the University of Utah, lived here my whole life aside from my mission in Alabama. Well, awesome. We're happy to have you here. How long ago did you serve? I was there a little over two years ago, and I served in a little Spanish branch. Shout out to the Cahaba Spanish branch in Birmingham, Alabama. And then I served for 10 months on the campus at University of Alabama, as well as serving in the family ward there. I would translate all the sacrament meetings, and then I was called back to the Spanish branch to finish out the rest of my So mission. I got to know those two areas very well. They're very near and dear to my heart. That's awesome. John, did you serve a mission? Yeah, I did. I actually served here in Utah, just up in Ogden. So I didn't even know they needed missionaries here in Utah, but I guess so. Yeah, I was here about two years ago, and I loved it. So I just stayed. I just stayed here in Utah, and now I'm going to school. So you're both at school here. So what are you both studying? I'm studying strategic communications and Spanish. Big fan of communicating. Maybe that's why I'm here speaking on a podcast. My major is world languages and cultures for now. That's probably going to change. I don't know, but I've just always kind of had an interest in world languages and cultures. So that's what I'm doing right now. That's cool that you guys served missions and that you loved that and you moved to here. Can you tell us a little bit of your experience here and how you've collaborated with other YSAs and how you've seen that you've been able to lead? Absolutely. I have done a lot within my ward specifically, but also within the institute. And I know institute classes look a lot different depending on where you are living, but basically just being able to gather with YSA has been hugely influential for my life, not just in the way that I've been supported, but in the way that I've been able to serve and connect with others around me. And that includes during COVID, during the time that we couldn't really matter and what connection really is and how to make that time when you gather actually worthwhile.

As we reflect on the difficult, often heartbreaking confronting circumstances so many migrants, including refugees from violence and war and victims of human trafficking, we must consider how we can help those most vulnerable people. This includes welcoming migrants and refugees and keeping them in our prayers. "Welcome to the Eric Mataxas Show. We'll get you from point A to point B. But if you're looking for point C, well, buddy, you're on your own. But if you wait right here, in just about two minutes, the bus to point C will be coming right by. And now, here's your Ralph Kramden of the airwaves, Eric Mataxas. Hey, folks, welcome to the program, I like to call it. John Zmierak, you are such a special guest on this program that we were willing to just do a phone connection. Normally, we have to have our guests on video, but you're such a big shot now that you can demand phone only if you if you choose. So welcome to the show. Thank you, Eric. I'm sheltering in place in an undisclosed location. Well, the weird thing is we're both in Dallas. And I was at an event last night. Now, of course, I want to talk to you about the news of the day. But I was at an event last night where a guy claiming to be your landlord came up to me. And I just thought Dallas is such a great place where where where, you know, people like John Zmierak live, there are landlords that that that actually, you know, think the way that we do, it really was. It was a very encouraging event for me, I have to tell you, and I'm sorry you couldn't be there. But I know that you've got you've got a busy life. What I've got is dozens of an open boxes, I'm moving apartments into the house of this wonderful new landlord is really good guy and a fellow believer in America and in Christ. And but I've got two beagles who have to be taught that this new apartment is not a place to go to the bathroom because it's all new to them. And I just am moving everything I own from one place to another. And so we're not doing video because if we did video right now, you would think I was actually Hunter Biden at a Motel six hiding from my Chinese handlers. Yeah, we don't want to look like that. I do not look my best because I do not have any of my toiletries. I can't I have one toothbrush. I can't find any soap. It's not brushes. Do you need, John? I know you got the two beagles, but you really need one toothbrush. I want you to downsize. At this point in life, you should be downsizing to one toothbrush and maybe one and a half beagles at most. No, my God. I look if I my girlfriend would allow it, I would have nine beagles, but nine beagles. OK, negotiated. We negotiated. I told her I have a two beagle minimum. So I rescued two twins together and brother and sister. And they lick each other's faces and they play fight. And they still act like seeing them. They're so you could die. You could die just looking at them. All right. So what shall we talk about? There's a lot in the news. We could talk about any of it. What are you writing about, thinking about? Well, I took a few days off of the moon, so I don't have as many columns. But I did. I did have one that I I spent was actually inspired by a conversation you and I had here. "Be in Colossians chapter 4. All right, we'll be looking at verses 5 and 6, but for a little context again, I will start reading in verse 2. Hear the word of our God. Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison, that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we ask now that you would send the same Holy Spirit who inspired this word to open our hearts to its truth. Please remove from us apathy, cynicism, callousness, or rebellion, so that we may really be hungry for this bread of life that feeds our souls, nourishes our hearts for your work. And fills us with the joy that is our strength. This we ask for the honor and glory of your dear Son and our dear Savior, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen. Just a note, as I was reading Colossians, I realized that I must have had the wrong translation up on the computer when I copied and pasted into the sermon notes, because there's a disparity between what the ESV says and what I'm claiming the ESV says. In your notes. So just keep that in mind that I too am fallible in many ways. All right. In Jesus's high priestly prayer, ah, you can't even speak this morning, in his high priestly prayer in John 17, Jesus introduces to us sort of this concept. He was praying for his disciples and he says that he left them in the world. Meaning he's not gonna sort of take them out. Oh, you're converted. Now come be with me and go where I'm going to go. But there's still something for you to do. You are to be in the world. But he also has this idea that he brings up in this prayer that they would not be of the world. And so what Jesus talks about there in John 17 is that we're to be present in the world. We are to be engaged with the world and yet we are not to mirror the world. That's very similar to what Paul is about to say here in Colossians chapter 4. He's going to encourage them to remain engaged with the world, but also as it says to be wise about how they engage with the world. And we're going to explore why he says this and what it means for us. Now the church has often misunderstood this. We have the response of say the Amish or the fundamentalists who thought that they should be not of the world and therefore have so removed themselves from the world it's as if they aren't there.

"A novena to St. Michael and the Holy Angels. O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and never shall be, world without end. Amen. Day 9. The Celestial Choir of Angels. The Angels' primary focus is the caretakership of humanity and the world. While the lowest ranked of all the angelic beings, if one accepts the idea of a regulated angelic organization, angels are nevertheless members of the heavenly host and thus possess the profound and beautiful attributes given to them by their Creator. They are beings of pure spirituality and exist to fulfill the task given to them by God. Chief among these are to act as messengers of the Lord to the earth and guardians of the human soul. By the intercession of St. Michael and the Celestial Choir of Angels, may the Lord grant us to be protected by them in this mortal life and conducted hereafter to eternal glory. Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. O glorious Prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant of the house of the Divine King, and our admirable conductor, thou who dost shine with excellence in superhuman virtue, vouchsafe to deliver us from all evil, who turn to thee with confidence, and enable us by thy gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day. Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of his promises. Almighty and everlasting God, who by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, hast appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael, Prince of Thy Church, make us worthy, we beseech thee, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into the august presence of Thy divine majesty. This we beg through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

"We are going to be in Colossians, chapter 4, verses 2 through 6. There'll be two sermons on this section as we kind of talk about mission as a part of our living a gospel life. All right, they're out of here, let's go. Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us that God may open to us a door for the Word to declare the mystery of Christ on account of which I am in prison, that I may make it clear which is how I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Let's pray. thank Father, you that this was written for our instruction, that we might endure and through the encouragement of the Scriptures have hope, as the God of endurance and encouragement grant that we would see Jesus, the one in whom we hope through the Scriptures this morning, that the Spirit would enable us to trust in him as he is presented to us in the Scriptures. Amen. It's kind of weird, I think, when you look at this text and you recognize that the little chapter headings and things like that are not in the Bible. We have added in our translations to understand what's going on there. So it's not in the Scriptures that it says further instruction. That just sort of seems like this is something that's kind of added on. Like it's just sort of tossed in there like Paul's like, oh, well, what should I say next? Oh, yeah, I'll tell him to pray. I think this is thoughtful on Paul's part because as we look at the structure of the book, it really reflects, I think, the structure of how the Gospel works, at least how I understand that it works. Because he talks about how Christ has worked for us, the objective reality of the person and of the work of Jesus Christ. He's talked about how Jesus is supreme over all things as the firstborn of creation, as the one in whom the fullness of God dwells bodily. All of these things, he focused first on the objective reality of who Christ is and then also what he has done with his death upon the cross as an atonement for our sins. And then that second section where he talks about Christ's work in us, where he's talked about how we, because we are now in Christ, now that we are the new man, we were to put off the sin, things associated with the old man and put on things that are associated with the new man in Christ. And so he focused on our work, sorry, Christ's work in us. And now I think he's moving into that realm of Christ's work through us.

Hearing Jesus: Daily Bible Study
A highlight from 391// Longing for the Kingdom: Exploring the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6
"Do you sometimes doubt if you're truly hearing God's voice or if it's really your own? Or have you been in a season where it feels like He's completely silent? Have you been praying for a way to learn how to hear His voice more clearly? Hey friends, I'm Rachel, host of the Hearing Jesus podcast. If you are ready to grow in your faith and to constantly step into your identity in Christ, then join me as we dig deep into God's word so you can learn to live out your faith in your everyday life. Hey friends, welcome back to the Hearing Jesus podcast. I'm your host, Rachel Grohl. We are continuing our devotional reading through the book of Matthew. We're picking up where we left off yesterday. We're going through the Lord's Prayer today in Matthew chapter six. I would encourage you, if you're just joining us, to go back and listen to the previous episodes leading up till today. I think it'll make more sense for you that way. I'm going to read starting on verse nine of Matthew chapter six, and I'm reading from the New American Standard Bible. Now, this is just the beginning portion of the prayer, but I wanted to pause here because I think there's some things that we need to unpack before we move forward. Nine through 13 is essentially the beginning portion of the Lord's Prayer, but I think it's important to address some of the things that would be common to the first century Jewish culture that we may not realize or understand. See, at this time frame, and we talked a little bit about this yesterday, Jews would commonly pray three times a day. They would do it privately or sometimes in a group of 10 called the minyan in Hebrew. Again, please don't come after me for pronunciation. I learned how to read Hebrew, not to speak Hebrew. But what we see Jesus doing, especially in the beginning part of this Lord's Prayer, as it's referred to, is he uses a lot of phrases that were already being used in Jewish culture. That phrase, Our Father, was common to some of the other kinds of prayers that were being already prayed in the synagogues in Galilee there. There's one called the Ahaba Rabbah, it's a Jewish prayer, and it begins, Our Father, Merciful Father. And the first century, 18 Benedictines prayer includes the petitions, Graciously favor us, Our Father, with understanding from you. And also another phrase that says, Forgive us, Our Father, for we have sinned against you. In general, I think it's important to point out that the Jews recognize God as the father of Israel, and they recognize that throughout the Jewish history, throughout the Israelite history. And that's why they commonly refer to God as Our Father. But when Jesus says it, he says it a little differently. See, when the Jews talked about Our Father, they meant it in the corporate sense. But here Jesus uses the term Abba. The term Abba is a term that's used for father, and it's used by children for their earthly fathers to express this warm kind of intimacy that a child will experience within the security of the care of a loving parent. And so that motif of the Heavenly Father does occur throughout the whole testament, but it's different than the way that Jesus uses it. Essentially, Jesus is calling God Abba, Daddy.

The Living Waters Birth Podcast
First Births Can Be Incredible Too...
"You had this amazing birth experience especially given that it was your first baby which I always try to tell moms just because it's your first baby doesn't mean it has to be hard and terrible. Sometimes it can be a little bit more challenging but first births can be incredible too. I would love to know how you prepared. How did you choose what kind of a birth experience you wanted? When you found out you were pregnant did you always know that you wanted an unmedicated birth? How did that all come to be? I I wish had known any of what I know now when I first found out I was pregnant. I truly didn't. It sounds so crazy from where I started and where I came. I truly just had a whole education process through it all. I did not know you could give birth outside of a hospital. I did not know there was such a thing as unmedicated and medicated. I didn't know all the things I needed to consider. I think I was 21 when I got pregnant. I just graduated college. We were newly married. I guess it just wasn't something that I learned growing up. We started off. I went to my OBGYN who I had only ever seen once in my entire life. I didn't really know her. It was a very terrible experience. She wouldn't look us in the eyes. She wouldn't talk to us. She threw away our first ultrasound pictures and didn't give them to us. Just very not a human experience that you want to have with someone who is going to deliver your child. Very quickly I was just like we left and I cried and I was like there's got to be a different way. From there I set out. I had seen a friend post something and I was kind of following along her birth journey. She hadn't given birth yet but I was following along her whole pregnancy journey and she started talking about home births and going to a chiropractor and a midwife and all these different things. I just started messaging her and I was like what are you doing? I just need to know what's going on because you look like you're having a great time. Through her I found the account Pain Free Birth which I know that you know about too. That just changed my whole perception of everything. I grew up more of a Church of Christ background. We just interpret Genesis not the same way that a lot of other denominations interpret it. It's very literal and you will be in pain forever. All these things. It really took just finding that account and talking to this girl and really breaking down all of that and being like okay that's not what this means. If we go back and actually really look at what is being said here. We are not cursed. We are made perfect and whole. It is not meant to be an awful experience. That was just a huge perception shift for me. Taking that forward I took the Pain Free Birth courses. Really loved those. That just really helped get me educated and I was like okay I have to find a different provider because we cannot do an OBGYN. I would have loved to do a home birth which sounds silly. Spoiler alert I did do a home birth. I originally chose a birthing center up here in the Woodlands which I absolutely adore. From the moment we walked in I knew it was where we wanted to give birth because it had very coffee shop vibes. Was it the Addis? Yes. I love them so much. I assisted a mom there a couple months ago now. It is just like you walk in that birth center and you are like it is so beautiful. It is gorgeous. From the moment we stepped in there I was like this is where I am giving

Sometimes it sounds sort of like, I don't know, I don't know, it sounds like popular mechanics. How do you build a single? But no, I'd like to share with you what the basic theological principle in the New Testament about singleness. There is a Christian theology, a biblical theology of being a single adult, which means to be an adult without a spouse or children of your own, you're single. There's a theology, I'd like to talk to you about first of all that, and then secondly, the uniqueness of this theology when you look at all the other religions and cultures of the world. Number three, I'd like to say, what does that mean then when Paul says singleness is a gift? And then lastly, I'd like to just draw out some practical implications. So the theology of singleness, the uniqueness of the theology of singleness, what does it mean to say singleness is a gift? And then lastly, just some practical implications. So I don't think there's a better place to go for the New Testament theology of singleness than 1 Corinthians 7. And when I read you these two verses, you'll see right away why these are enigmatic verses to the average reader. He says, Paul says, are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife. But if you marry, you have not sinned. And if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life and I want to spare you this. What I mean is that the time is short. Now it sure seems enigmatic when you read that. It sure seems like Paul's had a bad day. Because in Ephesians 5, he has this exalted view of marriage where he talks about marriage is a symbol and a sign of the union of Christ and His people. It's this high exalted view of marriage. And here he says, are you unmarried? Don't look for a wife. I mean, you know, he didn't say that's okay. You can live with that. It's a form of suffering that if you, you know, I'll use it for a while to make you a better person. But then, of course, you need to get on with your life. He doesn't say that. He says, are you unmarried? Don't look for a wife. If you do marry, you haven't sinned? But those who marry, who face many troubles in this life, I want to spare you. What I mean is the time is short. First of all, it looks like he seems to have fallen off from the exalted view of marriage he has in Ephesians. And then it seems like he's basing it on the idea that Jesus is coming back anytime because it says the time is short. And of course, Jesus didn't come back, you know, right away. And so maybe that was a mistake. Now here's the right answer. When he says the time is short, he doesn't just mean Jesus is coming back any day because he goes on immediately and says this, and he applies this principle to all of life, including eventually singleness in marriage. He says, from now on, those who have wives should live as though they had none. Those who mourn as if they did not. Those who are happy as if they were not. Those who buy as if it was not theirs to possess. Those who use the things of the world as if not engrossed in them for this world and its present form is passing away. Now what we have here is actually what a lot of theologians would call a sophisticated kingdom theology. What Paul taught and actually what Jesus taught and what the Bible teaches is that though many people thought that when the Messiah showed up, that he would bring in the kingdom of God. And in other words, you have the old age in which there's suffering and there's death and there's brokenness and there's pain. And then the Messiah comes, it was thought, and he would bring in the kingdom, the new world. And the new world, there would be no sighing, no suffering, no death. Everything would be perfect. Instead what happens is the Messiah doesn't come back once. It's like the old world, then Messiah, and then the new world. He comes back twice. The first time in weakness, the second time in power, the first time to begin the kingdom, but then the second time to bring it in fullness. And what that means is right now we live in what's called the overlap of the ages. The old world is still going on. The new world has actually begun. The Spirit of God is in the world to renew people's lives in many ways, but the fact is it's still a place in which we still have the suffering and the brokenness and all that. And so we live between the times, between the first and the second coming of the Messiah. And what Christians are supposed to do in that time, Paul actually lays out in the most practical terms. What this means is we do marry. We do buy and sell. We do have jobs. We do grieve and mourn. We do rejoice, but we always do it right now in light of the future. And see, in light of the future, God is going to give you the ultimate wealth. So right now, whether you have money or not isn't the biggest deal. If you have it, great, but don't get too attached to it. If you don't have it, don't be too upset. It's not real wealth. You see what he's doing? What he's actually, when he, see, it sounds strange at first. He says, those who mourn as if they didn't mourn, okay? You can weep, but at the same time, don't overdo it because everything is going to be made right. And you can rejoice, but at the same time, don't overdo it because this isn't real joy. This is nothing like what you're going to get. This will never satisfy your heart. And then he applies it to marriage and singleness. And that's the reason he's saying basically this. The ultimate family is in the future. The ultimate wedding is in the future. The wedding supper of the lamb, all of the deepest desires you have for love, for closure, for acceptance, for unity, for security, all of that will be satisfied on that day. And no earthly family and no earthly marriage can do anything more than be penultimate. It can be a forte, it can be a sign, it can be great. But if you don't have a family, don't get too upset. And if you do have a family, don't be too elated. And don't put too much of your hopes in it.

Evangelism on SermonAudio
A highlight from Soul Winning 101 - The 5 W's of Evangelism
"All right, hey folks, good evening. This is Daniel Karzewski coming to you live from Washington, D .C. again. Here on tonight's episode, we're gonna talk about soul winning 101, or also known as evangelism 101. And so, first of all, there's five basic questions that you have to answer, and that's the five Ws, the who, what, where, when, why. And what are we doing this for? So, number one, what is evangelism or what is soul winning? It is going out and snatching the souls out of the gates of hell, or out of the pits of hell. But furthermore, what is evangelism specifically? And it comes from the root of the Greek word angel, which also means messenger, or also known as the act of sharing the message of God's word. And that's where we get our commission and our commandment from in Matthew 28. And we're supposed to go forth and share the gospel, which means the good news with everybody, because sinners need to have their sins forgiven, and lost people need to know that they're lost, and they need to know that they can get a savior, and they know that they can get out of their wicked, wretched lives that they're living that's not taking them anywhere, especially not in eternity's sake. And then number two, why do we evangelize? Well, number one, we're commanded by God there in Matthew 28, like I just mentioned, and then also for the glory of God and the good of man, and 2 Peter 2, 9 tells us. Then where are we to go, and where are we to share it? Well, everywhere, near and far, indeed, the whole entire world, just like Acts says in chapter one, verse eight. And then, when are we supposed to do it? Anytime, anytime the Lord leads us and tells us. I think it's almost always that we've got tracks on us, and we're handing them out to everybody that we meet. We don't even know these people, but God knows them, God sees their heart, and God wants to save them. In 2 Timothy 4, verses two, that's where it tells us, anytime. And then who are we supposed to do it with, and who are we supposed to share it with? To everyone, to all, to all people in the whole entire world Mark 16, verse 15 commands us. And then, of course, there we've got some different tools in the toolbox, we've got spiritual warfare, we've got different equipment, different weaponry, and Ephesians 6 that we see putting on the whole armor of God, using prayer as a weapon, as a sword. Then we've got apologetics in 1 Peter 3 .15, be ready to answer every single man. And then we've got different techniques, we've got Jesus's example, we've got different ways to relate and create and convict and reveal to people. Then we've got one -on -one situations, we've got tracks, we've got door -to -door, we have different events and signs, public proclamation that goes out, we've got people that go out and play music and dramas and do skits on the street, in churches, whatever the case may be, there's all different types of ways to do it. And then, what's the biblical method of the gospel presentation? Well, I mean, it's just like, what would Jesus do? Ray Comfort has a great ministry called the Way of the Master, and he goes out every single Saturday, matter of fact, I've been out there with him on occasion and seen him and got to pray with him and got to watch him, and it's really just such a blessing to be able to see that man's ministry the way that he does it, and that's the same way that we're trying to do it. And if you're looking for a good example of a way to evangelize, follow Ray Comfort's way, the Way of the Master, and it's the biblical way, and it's the law in the evangelism, because you've got to get the sinner lost, oftentimes, before they can realize their need for a savior. And that's just like John 4, verses three through 30 tells us, it tells us we need to use the law in the evangelism, as opposed to some type of life enhancement where it's Christianity and getting saved and Jesus Christ on the cross, it's some good luck charm that we wear on our necklace, and that gets us saved, that couldn't be farther from the truth, and so we need to get people out of that thinking, and we need to use the law to convict people that they are sinners and that they are in need of a savior from hell and eternal damnation and hell fire and brimstone and get them to realize that heaven is so much better. I mean, we shouldn't have to scare people into heaven, but it says, just like in Jude, verses 21 through 23, that there are some that are saved by fire and some that are saved by compassion. And God tells us unto the proud man, he's gonna receive judgment and rebuke and reproof and condemnation and judgment. He's gonna receive the word of God because he's not understanding the spiritual things. He can only understand the natural things of man. But then under the humble, he receives grace and mercy, love and kindness, forgiveness, and he's willing and ready to receive, you know? And I've seen people like that on the street before. And then who is to evangelize? Who is qualified? What are the qualifications? Ephesians chapter four, verse 11 through 12, and then we've got the examples in all of scripture, Moses, Gideon, Jeremiah, Peter, James, John, Paul, and the list could go on. We could go on all night listing every single person in the Bible who was somebody that was out there evangelizing and witnessing and using God's word as a message to reach the loss for their generation. And that's what we're called to do. We're called to reach our generation for the loss. However many years that may be, I don't wanna go another day without telling somebody about Jesus. I mean, life is a vapor, and what are you gonna do? You gonna get to 80 and, oh, well now I'm gonna start working. And matter of fact, I've seen that. I've seen a 72 -year -old woman get saved, and she said, wow, I wasted 72 years of my life, and nobody wants to be like that. I sure don't wanna be like that, you know? In the 30s, thinking about, man, okay, well, what should I do for the next 40 years? Should I just waste them and see as much gain as I can get? Well, I mean, Solomon told us that all is vanity. He was chasing after the wind his whole entire life. He strived after every pleasure he could possibly get his hands on. And he said all was vanity. And the end of the preacher is to do God's word, obey his law, be righteous, and worship God and serve man. That's the end of the law. That's the end of God's word for man, is to obey him and worship him and serve others. And that's the 10 commandments. That's the whole entire word of God summed up. It'd be Jesus said it too. He said, love God with all your heart, mind, soul, body, spirit, and love your neighbor as yourself. And if we do those things, we've done all the law and the prophets, praise the Lord. And then finally, evangelism and you. There's different styles of evangelism. Everybody can evangelize in some way, shape, or form. You don't have to talk, but I remind you that Moses and Jeremiah and many other preachers and prophets said, Lord, I can't speak, I'm a small person. I mean, David started out small too and we all start out somewhere, but there's different types of serving. You can just give somebody a bottle of water and a track, whatever the case may be. Anytime we give food to the homeless, we always give them a track with it because you never know. We don't give money unless we're given to specific charity or we're given our time or we're given to a local New Testament church that's gonna gain, gather food and we're gonna go out and serve the food ourselves. And I really don't give to a lot of big charities out there because unless I know that they're extremely reputable and they're serving the Lord Jesus Christ. I mean, I know my friend Matt, he's down in Malawi, South Africa. He's doing the Lord's work there. He takes 12 disciples every three years and disciples them and sends them out as pastors. It's a perfect biblical ministry and I love it and I love supporting him because every time I send them 50 or $100, I know that's gonna feed one of their students for a month or two on end. It's gonna be wonderful. And so there's a great need for evangelists and the urgency of evangelism in today's day and age. And so that is Soul Winning 101 wrapped up. I love y 'all, God bless. Like, comment, subscribe, send us a note. We love you all, take care and God bless. We'll see you next time.

"A novena to St. Michael and the Holy Angels. O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and never shall be, world without end. Amen. Day 8. The Celestial Choir of Archangels. The Archangels' primary duty, as is clear from their appearances in Scripture, is to carry out the will of God as it relates directly to humanity. They bring to the world the prayerful blessings of the Lord and the special concern of God for each and every human life. It is for that reason that the Archangels, like their close counterparts, the angels, are said to intervene so regularly in the affairs of men and women, be it on a battlefield, in an impending disaster, or in the private anguish and sorrow of the living. In each case, they impart a portion of their immense compassion and love, giving comfort, solace, or fortitude at the darkest of moments. By the intercession of St. Michael and the Celestial Choir of Archangels, may the Lord give us perseverance in faith and in all good works, in order that we gain the glory of Paradise. Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and for all that is to come, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King, and our admirable conductor, thou who dost shine with excellence in superhuman virtue, vouchsafe to deliver us from all evil, who turn to thee with confidence, and enable us by thy gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day. Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of his promises. Almighty and everlasting God, who by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, hast appointed the most glorious archangel, St. Michael, Prince of thy church, make us worthy, we beseech thee, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into the august presence of thy divine majesty. This we beg through the merits of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

"Law of christ so if a man or woman brother sister in christ is overtaken in any fault talking about sin. Should we criticize them. Should we throw stones at them. Should we talk about them and gossip and slander. Is that ever happened. Nope that's not what we're called to. We're not called to do that. We should seek to help those amongst us who have gone straight into said we are told by scripture to go and galatian chapter six in verse. Ju it's look to reclaim them to recover them to restore them. All those who are going astray all those who are going down to sinful pack. It's talking about christians and so but you look at this passage of scripture. We understand that the scriptures goes on and it really does it at the heart of more than that not only are we to do our best to restore people who are walking in a path of sinful living but we are to reach out to help other people around us. Whatever the burdens may be and this really in life is true because there are burdens of responsibility that we know that only us as individuals can bear. But there's also burdens of sorrow. There's burdens of pain. There's burgers various different types of burdens decisions. That are difficult to make. And that you look for wise counsel there's ways for us to help bear each other's burdens for example Do not make it hired for the shepherds this congregation to do their job because they're putting in positions of authority positions of trust and responsibility and we should make it easy upon them by for them to do their job shepherds of this congregation. Well how do we make it easy on them by the right kind of lives so they can focus on the spiritual wellbeing in the congregation. They could focus on the work of the church they could focus on all that goes into elder ship and shepherding so brothers or sisters. I'll give you. I'll give you an example. I like to watch movies and in some of the movies that i like to watch her sci-fi type stuff and different things anybody ever seen the lord of the rings. I liked to watch the lord of the rings movies. I know you might not be your cup of tea. But it's my cup of tea. And so i like to drink it and so as i'm watching these movies It makes me think of the friendship. It makes me think of the camaraderie that they have in these movies. Because you've got you've got hobbits elves. You've got drawers. You got mankind and their unite together in a spirit of bonds spirit of friendship brotherhood. If you will to help frodo reach mortar to do what to destroy the evil re ring that's threatening the existence of all mankind in the journey that they were on had been difficult that had been long. it'd been dangerous and frodo and his friend. Sam head barely survived. The dangers encountered along the way and they approach their as they were approaching their goal they. They're reaching their physical and emotional limits. Anybody here in life ever get to a point in life where you're reaching your physical and emotional limits and so what happens. Hopefully if you have built up trust and relationships within the family of christ the body of christ then we help bury others burdens. I can't always literally take your burden away. But i can help you carry your burden i can help lift you up and encourage you strengthen you and so as sam and frodo are climbing the mountain and as they struggled up towards the cave in order to to throw the ring to the fire to in order to to destroy the ring. What do we see on the way up frodo collapses he collapses he didn't have the strength to go on anymore so i was the only one though could carry this rain because of its mysterious power to tempt and to do other things. It's so sam. Knowing this says i may not be able to carry the ring frodo but i could kill you. I may not be able to carry the rain because of the problems that are be associated with it. But i could carry you brothers sisters. He lifted up frodo heathrow him over his shoulder and carry them the rest of the way and we know the rest of the story and how the story is so. That is how we as. Christians are called to live towards one another. We can't literally carry one another's burdens but we can carry one another. We can lift each other up and encourage each other. I got a text from our sister. Judy to this week and it was talking about a sister that she was helping her. And edward helping and she was doing what she was bearing the burden she had lifted up so to speak and put them on their shoulder and carry them to the rest of the way so to speak by helping them to to carry that load. Carry that burden. You can't always take the burden and away. You can't take the load away but you could be there as brother sister to help encourage strengthen and so brothers and sisters. We look at this here this morning. We can lift each other up and make sure that no one gets left behind. Make sure that no one is feeling along. Make sure that no one is feels deserted by their family here at lincoln park and that's why lately i've been encouraging look abuse around you. Look at some of the holes in abuse and if you know we all sit in the same spot every week you call on the brothers and sisters that you are there and ask them. Make sure they're ok. Find out if anything's going on in their lives and see if there's a way you can be an assistance if they needed to help to lift each other and encourage one another and then i get to the next passage of scripture. We get the next passage of scripture and this is the last aspect of burden bearing in the third aspect that we're going to look at here today and it comes from psalm. Fifty five and verse twenty two says pasture burdens upon the lord and the scriptures. Tell us that he will sustain us. Well if you were to read the fifty fifth psalm in its entirety from which this great promises taking. You're going to find some other. Languages says all that. I had the wings of a dove. He cried why then. I could fly away that i could get away. That could be at rest and that the burdens were so heavy and that the problems of life were so awful that he just wanted to quit that how then i'll give up a get away a fleet. I won't stay her any longer. Isn't anybody ever thought like that. Anybody i've read the slots. Doesn't that sound familiar over the years. How many times have you heard. Somebody say i've had as much as i can take. I've had as much as i can bear. So what happens. Oftentimes we look to get away. But you see. That doesn't always work. Doesn't like of catching up to you. You see because you can't run away from your burdens. You can't run away from your memories. you can't run away from your personality and from yourself in from the from the bad choices that some of us continue to make over and over and over again life as a way of catching up with us. So you can't run away from life's burdens because life will find you and the more knows all things and so what are you going to do. Where are you going to go while psalm. Fifty five leads us to believe that. There's one place that we could go one place that we should go that we should cast our burden upon the lower because he will sustain us he may not always take the burden away but sometimes he does so when we go to god and prayer. There's usually a couple of things that happen. Sometimes we'll be like jesus in the garden of gas seventy it will offer up a prayer that so something like lord. If it'd be possible take this cup from me. Anybody ever heard that her sometimes he does. Sometimes he doesn't but other times we pray in the burden remains. God doesn't take the burden away. Do we have illustrations of scripture. Do we have things that we turn to to give a strength in those times brother. I here to tell you that we do. And it comes by the way of the apostle paul second corinthians in chapter twelve.

"Been washed. You've been sanctified. You've been justified in the name of meaning. In the authority of who jesus christ in the spirit of god brethren verse eleven. Says you were. That means change. As because of changed hasn't happened. They'd still be drunkards of adulterers former. Gators swindlers those who have been those who are in. Christ have been what they've been washed. Meaning baptism they've been sanctified meaning. What set apart from the world. God has said. I have a new standard in the bible. Study this morning if you were here. You heard in luke chapter six. Where jesus but i say to you when jesus says but i say to you. He's getting ready to lay down the law. You might wanna listen. He says but i say to you and then i think about what's happening here. They were washed baptism. They were sanctified set apart by the word of god and changed lives and they were justified by the blood of christ meaning made right in the sight of god. If you are truly in christ and living faithfully for the will of god there change must be evidenced in your life. Otherwise you know who you're like. You're like matthew chapter seven. You're like those christians who have gone before us who have already died and christians in the future who are going to die and they're going to go to the lord and the lord say hey. Did we do all these wonderful things. We perform all these. We glorify your name perform miracles. And he's going to say. I don't even know who you are. You who practice lawlessness. Those are people who thought they were in christ but they weren't living for christ they were still living for themselves. Jesus wasn't the lord of their lives. They were still the lord of their lives and so we look at the scriptures to follow up on that. I look at the next passage. I corinthians six nineteen and twenty. Do you not know that. Your body is the temple of the holy spirit. The temple of the holy spirit who is in you whom you have from god and that you are not your own master server relationship pay attention in verse twenty four you have been bought with a price therefore glorify god in your body. We know that the paul also said his scripture that now one of us lives for himself now one of his dies for himself so whether we live or whether we die we die for. We live for the lord. What does that mean. We're no longer live for ourselves and our own desires. We live for the kingdom of god when a person gives us life to craze has no longer list for his own flesh desires for his own thought processes but brethren but we have to live for the glory of god in the furtherance of his kingdom. We must understand that. The gospel matters because we live and ascend filled world. Amen and god doesn't desire that any of his creation pairs. We must understand that. The gospel matters everywhere to all people. I know because we read martin matthew twenty eight we look at mark sixteen and it says go into what all the old again and do what preached the gospel. How can you preach the gospel if you don't know what the gospel in why it matters and preach the gospel. He who has believed has been baptized. They're not mutually exclusive. They're one in the same. You have to believe and be baptized member. I talked about biblical faith. All the time it's a threefold process believe trost obedience you can't have biblical faith with all three working in harmony together so you look at the scriptures here this morning and we know that god wants the gospel to go out to all the world. How do i know that. Because jesus was talking to nicodemus john chapter three and you look at the passage of scripture behind me that so many people know that. So many people quote it's on signs at sporting events. All over the place and john three sixteen seven jesus in the conversation with nicodemus about baptism about being born again says this. For god's love the world nicodemus. He gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shown that perish but have eternal life. Why for god did not send his son in the world to judge the world. But god sent his son in the world that they may have salvation that they may be saved through him rather than through the preaching in the teaching of the gospel. Lives are transformed. The power unto salvation is in no other name in the power unto salvation resides in the gospel of jesus christ his death his burial his resurrection. So we look at the scripture this morning and we know that we must hear the message. We know that we have to believe the message. We know we must confess. Jesus repented of sin be baptized. But we're most people forget after that point it's like marriage and i do. It's the beginning of the marriage. That's when the real work begins. We gotta learn how to love one another. We gotta learn how to deal with each other. Idiosyncrasies we got to learn how to deal with all the little things that that we have to learn because we shouldn't have been living together before answer. Hopefully now that. We're in christ and we're married now. I have to learn how to love. You have to learn how to live with you. I have to learn how to put up with you right. There's a lot of a lot of layers and when you get married in everything's going to be happy happy happy. Go lucky right. And there's a lot of smile and smirking by the married couples in here this morning. Because you know it's a challenge in the beginning so what's the point as a christian when you first become a christian got adds to the kingdom after your baptism you must learn to them live and love faithfully consistently as a christian. That's why i said be careful how you live your life may the only bible somebody ever reads trusting in god brothers and sisters. It changes all for the better. Because all of the laws and all of the provision that god had put in place is for our benefit to bring us back into relationship with a loving god and father and so when we look at this. I asked the question here this morning knowing these things this morning. If you're off a child of god do you wanna put on christ in baptism. And if you don't like what's holding you up. Did you know that your life has an expiration date knows that expiration date is not us. Listen to what it says here. When i asked a question you have put on christ and baptism. Listen to what paul said to the people of carinthia. In second corinthians chapter six verse to he said the acceptable time. I listened to you on the day of salvation. I helped you but notice what he says. But now is the acceptable time. Now is the day of salvation. So what is the point. Brothers sisters as i close this lesson now. The gospel matters it matters because it is the story of the death. Burial resurrection of jesus. Christ it matters. Because it is the power of god unto salvation. It matters because it addresses. Everyone's relationship with god were all centers in need of a savior. We've all fallen short of the glory of god in that. We are called to be saved through jesus through his sacrifice. That's why it is the power of guidance ovation. The gospel matters. Because if there's not a single place and not a single person on this planet who doesn't need the gospel matters because it changes people.

We're going to talk about something that's important because we have to ask ourselves. What is the gospel but not. Just what is the gospel. What is the gospel. And why does it matter. I'm here to tell you that in christian dumb as well as just an the large church. I don't think not. Everybody knows what the gospel is. If you don't believe me. I want you to do an experiment this week. I want you to in your own mind right now. Not answering your body and your mind. I want you to answer. What is the gospel of jesus. Christ what is the gospel. Don't answer it in your mind. And i want you to see that what you have in your mind matches up what i'm gonna teach you this morning but then if you don't believe me that we have a problem in the world that people really understand what the gospel is a why it matters. I want you to go to anybody and everybody. You know this week. And i just wanted to ask them a simple question. Do an experiment you a survey asked them. What is the gospel. Why does it matter and here to tell you you'll get a whole variety of different answers but there's only one answer and we need to know the answer to that question if we're able to tell people why it matters and so this morning i'm going to provide an overview of what the scriptures teach in regards to the gospel. It's look at also why it matters because as christians. We need to know what the gospel is. If we're going to be able to teach others why it matters. How can i teach you why. The gospel matters. If i don't fully understand what. The gospel is last week and bible study this morning and i believe bible study last week. You guys hurt me. Say that the the apostles the disciples of christ were given commission a man. are we disciples of christ. Have we been given a mission. What is that mission to go out to the walled. It's a teach. It's a preach at the share. Sure what the gospel because the gospel matters it matters for every single human being on this planet. There's not a person on this planet who does not need to know the gospel in why it matters. And so when we think of the early church all the missionary trips that they conducted it was because god gave them a commission. We to have a commission. And i think about the screen behind me and i think of acts chapter fourteen in verse seven and one is say says and they're they continue to do what preached the gospel why was horrid because a guy gave him a commission. He gave him a command but they also understood what the gospel ones and they understood that there wasn't a person on this planet that didn't need to hear what they had to say. Why is it that we are so reluctant today to share the gospel when we know that there's not a friend or a family member or workers whose life it will not change. The gospel has the power to change the transforms the lives of the individuals who know what it is and who understand why it matters and the passage. We just read paul and barnabus. We're on their very first missionary journey. They had left eye coney of and they fled to the region of like odia in derby. Why did they have to flee. I code him. That's the logical question that we need to ask what we find the answer. I looking at the rest of the passage in contacts. So when you open it up and you look at briar broader sense. It says an ex fourteen five or seven and when an attempt was made by both the gentiles and the jews with the rulers to what to mystery into stone them stolen paul barnabus and so they became aware of it and they do what they fled. They fled to the city's konia straw derby and the surrounding region. And they're they did what they continue to preach the gospel. I read that. I think to myself if you don't know what the gospel is and why it matters you're not gonna preach it but if you know what the gospel it isn't you know why it matters. Then you know why they had to continue to preach it they just try to try to kill and they did what they went and preached anyway so they took the message out because they knew of the importance of the message. Brothers and sisters to answer the question. You must know what the gospel is and why it matters as to why did they continue to put their lives on the line. Why were they continuing to put themselves in harm's way for something. If they didn't understand it they didn't understand the importance of it. So ask the question this morning. What is the gospel in short. We understand the gospel is what it is. The death burial resurrection of jesus christ. That's it so in your mind. When i asked you to give an answer to yourself. What is the gospel was at the answer. Because that's what the scriptures teach i. Do i know that. Well we read the scriptures and first corinthians chapter fifteen one through four. What does the scripture fellas. Now i make known to you. Brethren what the gospel which i preached to you which also you received which also you stand by which also you are saved if you hold fast to the word which i preached you unless you believed in vain unless your belief with worthless right delivered to you of a first part what i also received that christ died for our sins according to the scriptures and that he was buried and then he was raised again and the third day according to the scriptures and so in verse three christ died for our sins but brethren we here in this building here this morning we know who christ is but does everybody know who christ is and so the next logical question is who's christ the word christ means messiah messiah but who is it. It doesn't tell us in verse chapter fifteen so if we were to in order to share the gospel we must be able to explain who christ is well then i think about the next passage of scripture and just so you know. This is a scripture heavy sermon. Not a difficult survey but it's the scripture heavy sermon and if you have the bolt is whether it's in the back or be happy email. Every one of these passes. Scripture are in the bulletin right underneath the bolts and arc then review. These as you go home later today but we know what the gospel we know we have to understand. What is the gospel why it matters it tells us in chapter fifteen first grade is what it is we learn about christ but we have to understand who christ is so we can explain it to the world and then in john chapter twenty in verse thirty and thirty one and says therefore many other signs jesus also performed signs miracles.

"Our country and learn about all the rising percentages of depression, suicide, sin, crime, volatility in society, towards people who think differently than you, it becomes very clear, very quickly what the world needs and his name is Jesus. But it begins and ends. Not only in the word of God, but it begins and ends with you. Every single one of us hear this morning have a role to play. Every single one of us in this building this morning are integral to the furtherance of the congregation here at Lincoln park, but more than that, the universal kingdom of God. We all have to do our parts. And it starts with stepping out in faith. By sharing the word of God and by living out your faith and doing some of the things that I set forth as an example here this morning. Brothers and sisters as disciples of Christ we must all take the living word of God out into the world because God has said, go. And share. And teach and preach. And so I leave you with this this morning. When's the last time you've went? And you shared and you taught, when's the last Bible study you've had? When's the last time you sat down with the family member or a friend and had a Bible study? I know that most of the time people are going to say no. But that's why living your life as a Christian is so very important. But when's the last time you made an offer, I know many people will say no, but when's the last offer you made? With a family member, a friend or a coworker. I'm not talking about going out and talking to strangers. People you know. Ask yourself that question. Along with the last time I had somebody in my home with the express purpose to build a stronger bond with those individuals. Because brethren, that's where it begins. We are the living representatives of Jesus Christ. And he needs us to go into the world. He's done his part. Now it's time for us to do our part. Are you willing to stand up, share your faith in lip sacrificially for the kingdom of God? If you're hearing this message this morning, brethren, there's a challenge that has been set forth. And I pray to God that each of us accept that challenge. Because our eternal destination hangs in the balance. We will all stand before Christ Jesus. It tells us, and second Corinthians chapter 5 verse ten. And it says we will give an account of our lives. What do you want that account to read? You get to decide what Jesus sees. Brother, sisters, if you hear this morning and you need the prayers of the church, you can come forward this morning. We'll pray for you. It will help you in any way that we can. You may be may have been away from the church for a time. And you wish to be restored because you know you haven't been living for God. We know you haven't been living the Christian lifestyle and you want to make today the day that I start moving forward. You can come forward this morning and do that. We'll pray for you. And you may have not been a child of God. Yeah, you may have not come to Christchurch. You may not have been washed in the blood of the lamb. Well, you have an opportunity to be baptized this morning. For the forgiveness of your sins to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and God himself will answer to the kingdom as we come in as we stand and sing..

"We got a problem. Well, I'm here to tell you, brother and we got a problem. We got a problem because too many people like to show up on Sunday and Wednesday, but the rest of the week they're not share their faith. They're not living for God. And the concept here this morning that I want you to go away with is that your life and how you live it may be the only Bible somebody ever reads. So what is the impression you want to leave with them about who God is and what his people look like. It's a different concept. I know. But it's something that we need to consider. Why? Because of this next passage of scripture. Because as I told you, everything begins and ends in the word of God. And I think in the next passage of scripture in the book of Romans, and as we consider this morning, how the word of God guides us, it's important that we go to Roman chapter 12 and we look at verse one and two. Because it says, therefore, I urge you brethren by the mercies of God to do what? To present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice. That which is acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. It's your spiritual duty at basically telling you. And then it says, and do not be conformed to the world, but what? What does it say? Everybody read that out loud. Be transformed by renewing your mind with what? With the word of God so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good that which is acceptable, which is perfect, rather, we need to not be conformed to the world, but transform our minds, and I've said it, and I'll keep saying it, and it begins and ends in the word of God. Everything that we do, who we are, how we live is going to be judged by the world. I've often said, like it or not, the church is going to be judged by the world. Our lives and our faith are going to be judged by the world, but you get to determine what they see and how they judge. Do they see somebody who stands condemned or they do they see somebody that they have questions for? Because that dude is different. They say, man, every time I meet with chalky, so calm, he's so pleasant. He's always got something good to say. He's helpful. He's willing to be there for you. He's willing to help you in any way that he can. Where's the come from? Because most people I run into, don't necessarily have that same mindset. What is it that sets him apart? That should be when you know that you're living in life that's different. That's washed in the blood of Christ. And that brother in that you're the Bible that they're reading through your life and your conduct and your actions is one that mirrors the holy scriptures. That mirrors the life of Christ. And as we transform our minds with the word of God, our wives will transform before the very watchful eye of friends and family and coworkers. They'll begin to see a renewed hope in your life. They'll begin to see they'll begin to see a constant joy a piece and inner strength that you didn't have before. And they're going to want to know where did this come from? And it makes me think of the sex passage description. First Peter chapter one. And at first beat her chapter one and averse three through 5. Notice what Peter tells us. Blessed be the God and father of our lord Jesus Christ who accordions in his great mercy has caused us to be born again. That's that new creation I keep talking about. You're a new creation, a new person, because we're born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To obtain what an inheritance, which is imperishable and undefiled that will not fade away, and it's reserved for you in heaven. And then it says who are protected by the power of God through faith and Salvation that are going to be revealed at the last time. Brothers and sisters. You need to pay attention to the first Peter right here, chapter one versus three through 5. Why? Because it talks about the living hope that we all have. It talks about an inheritance that can't be taken away. That won't fade away when our lives are over. That is reserved for you in heaven and that you are protected by the power of God. That should give us joy, hope, peace, inner strength that I was just talking about. If people are not seeing in you, a living hope. When they look at your life, if they're not seeing joy, peace, inner strength and hope for a better tomorrow than brethren, I implore you to spend some quiet meta meditation later on today in prayer. I implore you to spend some quiet time by yourself in meditation and in prayer. I implore you to spend some time evaluating your faith and ask yourself, why don't I have peace, joy and inner strength in my hearts? And in my life and in my mind. And then I implore you to pick up your bibles. It's a study that's rude. So with the express purpose that you remember the great many wonderful promises that God has made. And then lastly, I implore you to evaluate your life and ask yourself, is my life really as bad as I think it is? Or am I a blessed person? Anybody here wake up this morning? Oh, that's right, yeah, because you're here. And anybody here have food for breakfast this morning? Anybody here have a roof over the head that kept them dry and warm? Anybody here? Oh yeah, we have close, too, right? Oh yeah, there's a slow thing I'll television. Most of us have televisions. You're here this morning, so I'm assuming you probably drove here and you probably have a vehicle that you drove here with. And I'm sure that we took up an offering some of you gave money. I'm assuming that you have money, probably in your bank account. And you're here and you're not in a hospital so I'm assuming that most of you probably are pretty healthy right now. Are there blessings in our lives? Brothers and sisters. We have to take constant stock of the very blessings in our lives. John Wallace, who hasn't been here in a minute, he's been down in Florida, which we'll have to talk to him about that. He's like, hey, you know, you can leave. You can leave the beautiful Florida and come north once a while, right? He just got back from Ghana. And I followed him and got a 5 way. I think it was 5 week missionary trip. And I was following him on Facebook, stalking him. And I was looking at all his pictures. Man, beautiful pictures, beautiful country, but you know what was even more beautiful. Seeing how those people who were Christians who didn't have nothing. Compared to what we have in the United States, they practically got nothing. And they're happy. They look happy. And they have an inner strength, joy, peace, living in those conditions, because they have Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. And yet, we live in the richest country in the world, and we find every reason to complain. And grumble. We need to take stock.

"Because the word of God gives direction to our lives and the word of God is that guide that light to our path that gives that makes the crooked past straight. So every one of us has an important role to play in the kingdom of God. For the furtherance of the Lincoln park congregation, but for the furtherance of the kingdom of God. If too many people don't fully understand that you have a role to play, and showing up here on Sunday, really isn't part of that rule. We show up here on Sunday to give thanks for the sacrifice. Do this and remember to me that Jesus made on our behalf. So as Christians, we come together to worship God sing songs appraised to his holy name. To lift him up in prayer. It's a gift thanks to encourage one another. But then we are to leave this building, go into the mission field of the world and do what? Share your faith. Teach and preach and allow your changed life to be what sets the example. Brethren, noticed the first passage description here this morning. As we look at this first pass as a scripture in a first Peter, brother, we need to understand that by living out our faith and by living changed lives, people are going to see that something is different about you. Where does that concept come from in the scriptures? Because the scriptures are what guys are lives. It all begins and ends in scripture. First Peter one, 14 through 16 tells us this. As obedient children do not be conformed to the former lust, which were yours and your ignorance. What does it mean that we're yours and your ignorance? It says you didn't know what you didn't know. You didn't know what righteousness looked like. You didn't really know what sin was because you haven't read the word of gajah. You haven't been directed in holiness. And so Peter tells us that as obedient children, we're not conformed to the world, like we used to be in our ignorance, but like the holy one who called you, be wholly yourselves in all of your behavior. Why? Because I myself am holy. Brothers and sisters, you look at this passage description here this morning. And when you think about it, prolong sent in our lives has a way of defining us. Does it not? If you have consistent prolonged sin over a long period of time, when people see you, what do they usually see? The sin in your lives, they know you're knowing by the sin in your life, but that same concept is true of righteousness. You could change your past doesn't have to define you. It doesn't have to define you, and you can allow a new found righteousness and holy living to be what defines you. But it's gonna take time to change the perception that they have of you from years gone by. That's why Jesus says it's hard for a profit to be a profit in his own hometown. Because many people aren't willing to let go of the past. What they think they know about you. And so brothers and sisters. We know that righteousness has the same effect that prolonged righteousness over a period of time consistent, holy righteous living will then change the perception that people eventually have of you. And when you allow your soul, when you allow your attitude when you allow the sin problem that you have in your life to be brought into subjection to the word of God, a beautiful transformation begins to take place. And it's like a budding flower. That's opening slowly. But as it opens slowly, it gets more and more beautiful every day. And that's what our Christian faith our Christian walk is like. Brothers and sisters, when you allow your life to be washed by the blood of Christ, a marvelous transformation takes place. Why? Because it says at that point, you become a new creation. God says, stop dwelling on the past. Stop dwelling on the sin. Stop allowing people to find who you are based on past actions. You're no longer that person. You buried that person. He's dead in God. And now we understand that when we've been washed in the blood of Christ and we're a new creation, rather and gossip stop dwelling in the past because I remember it no more. He says, why are you still dwelling on that garbage? It's like it never happened. But we have to allow that concept to sink in. It stopped dwelling on what used to define us. A fees chapter one number 7 tells us, in Jesus, listen to this, and Jesus, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. Brothers and sisters, we need to be a people that immerse ourselves in the word of God. Why? Because we're now a new creation, there has been forgiven by the rich, graces of God, and now you look at the next passage description. And I think of what young what Paul told young Timothy who was an evangelist. And this is this concept in this thought process is for all Christians that we are to be diligent to present ourselves. What? As a proof to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, who accurately handles the word of God. Brothers and sisters. By doing so, we could teach others. We could go and share our faith and teach others about the love and the grace of Jesus Christ of God the father and the Holy Spirit, which we lived out, which as we transform our lives, we live out the sacrifice of Christ. Because now while living sacrificially because we buried the old man of sin, we're living a new, and now we're living sacrificially, not for the desires of the flesh, not for the sins that we used to enjoy, but now we live a sacrificial life in service to God and service to the kingdom. And we can confidently teach others how to be freed from bondage is sin. You know why? Because who else here has been freed from the bondage of sin? Anybody here have been freed from the bondage of sin? What freed you from the bondage you said? The blood of Jesus Christ. Don't you think it might be helpful if we let other people know that they too can be freed from the bondage of sin? That they too have a hope for a better tomorrow and that's your past doesn't have to define you in that there is hope in that God's great love and grace brethren is waiting for them. We look at the scriptures here this morning and we need to remember that as we teach people about the golden rule, we need to make sure we're living it out. And you think about Matthew chapter 7, you think about verse 12. This is where what we oftentimes and Christian them call the golden rule, right? It says in everything, therefore, treat people, the same way that you wish to be treated. For this is the law. This is the profits. How you treat others will say a lot about your faith. Remember what I said? You may be the only Bible that somebody ever reads. What is the impression that you want to leave with them? What's the impression that you want to leave with them of God and of his people? That were just like them. That we send constantly that they can't tell a difference between us. I've often said, if God looks out over the sea of humanity. And he can't tell a difference. Between his people, the church, the bride of Christ and the rest of humanity,.

"Those who looked to bring about your demise. It's not easy to forgive those rules. Slander and mock you. It's not easy to do most of the things that were called to do. But you gotta do anyways. Why because that's what jesus did. And we're his disciples and as we continue to grow in our in developing our faith. We need to be at peace with god and we're at peace with god. Were first at peace with many. Where peace with god when we show the love of god to mankind and we're willing to forgive and to love and to forgets just like god has done and brother and we need to live a pure and holy life and then i think versus fifteen through eighteen and you look at the second half of verse fifteen. It says just as also our beloved brother paul according to the wisdom give it to him wrote to you and also all his letters speaking in them these things. In which are some things hard to understand which the unsought the unstable distort as they also do the rest of the scriptures to their own destruction. You therefore beloved this beforehand beyond guard so that you are not carried away by the air of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness rather in verse eighteen and we closed this letter with but grow in the grace and knowledge of our lord savior. "I think the second peter chapter one we looked at verse twenty and twenty one at the beginning of the series that no prophecy of scripture was ever came about by an act of human will but men that were moved by the holy spirit of god. They did what they spoke for. God is so we have that that information recorded for prosperity and then we get to the third aspect that we've been looking at the last couple of times. I was with you and that was about false teachers and keeping our guard up and make sure that we don't fall into the temptation. And so the the lure of those false teachers and the apostle paul he warned the fusion ehlers about that next chapter twenty. So today we're going to cover chapter three. So don't forget the context that this letter has been written. It is that these. Christians lived in a time when they were being persecuted. They were being killed. They were being imprisoned. Their families were being broken up. That's the context of the letter of peter and when you look at the context in which this letter was written in the background of which letter was written we need to understand brother and that there were false teachers who were continuously trying to infiltrate church for one purpose to destroy the church of god to destroy the church of christ to bring about its demise and it's in response to this as we get to chapter that peter tells us that we are to be discouraged. We shouldn't be disheartened. What we need to do is be ready. Well i believe. I peter chapter three talks about that verse..

"Your bed and walk and at once. The man was healed and he took up his bed and walked in some of your translations. You might assault verse ford at talks about the angels during the water and i'm not going to take us into really break down. What's going on at this pool but there was a belief a superstition or whatever that when the water stirred an angel with healed. The first one in the water is over thirty eight years. This man laid their warning change for thirty eight years. Thirty eight years is easy for me to remember our to not to understand. I was thirty eight years old. When i got married so for thirty eight years of my life. I acted as well not all thirty eight years because the beginning of my life. I was dependent on my parents but for majority life. Sean did shawn's way correct and we can be set in our ways. We have our ways so for me. I think okay for thirty eight years. That's a long time. This guy though lays there wanting change wanting to be healed. But let's stop. Let's ask the question. Did he really want to be changed. Let's look at this person. And i don't know the man personally. I was not alive back then. So maybe he has a different view. But let's look at it from this perspective in six and seven verses six and seven when jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time he said to him. Do you want to be healed. Do you want to be here. Let us ask that to you. Do you want jesus to change you. Ask yourself that question. Do you want jesus to change you on a second. I'm gonna give you the answer. But let's look at his answer. And i'm gonna tell you how we sometimes answer that question. But he says to. Jesus sir i have no one that. Put me into the walk into the pool when the water stirred up. While i'm going another steps down before me. You would expect his answer to be what yes but it gives an answer of kind of well. Here's what's going on when we encounter. Jesus and jesus is challenging us to have our life change. Do we answer with not a yes changed my life. Jesus gave me what you're offering are. Do we have answers of well. I'll change my life when i get married. I'll be more committed to you. I have a family. Or when i get to that position in my job when i get to that point. We're not we have all this well win when things are right jesus did than i could fit you into my life and i'm not saying that maybe you know we all struggle with that because guess what we are human. We are mankind and guess what we are selfish by nature. We like our things our way. We love burger king slogan right having your way. Think that's their slogan. Sounds good if not. I just met a new slogan form and we want the comforts of how things or and so when things come into our lives and make us want change. It's hard and here's a man who had been lame are sick for thirty eight years and we think wow poor guy you know we. We sometimes accounts in the work with healing hands. We go into a community and we bring them something. And i'll never forget a story that threw me off and i'm not saying this always but there was a community where we put a well in clean water. It was right. There cut their distance of walking drastically. This made it so much easier. But they didn't like the change not because they didn't want the clean water but you know what it took away from their daily journey to the waterhole where it was a social our clean water. That doesn't make you sick socializing. We'll take the clean water. Here's a man has been lame for thirty eight years you want to be. Healed change is hard so when we say change cycle it's easy for us to look at them and say yes. We want to change their cycle. But how many of us are like somebody come. Change my cycle. There's a couple of passage. I want kinda just read this morning. What when i think about changing when we encounter jesus and what he asks us to do i always think about romans. Chapter twelve verse. Two two says and this is hard. Do not be conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing. your mind transform transform. I think of me as a kid. I think about transformers. The cartoon the robots that were like a caller that turned into a robot sudden. There was a semi truck going down the road. And he's like next thing. He's run down the road with a soreness me. I was like wow. That's cool change. Do not conform to this world but be changed be transformed. Well wait a minute. I like the world i like living in the world. I like the comforts of the world. We're all guilty of that. Right we all partake in the world in the comforts of world. But you want me to be changed. Transform i think about the passage found that colossians chapter three versus one through ten. If you wanna flip over there colossians chapter three in the little subtitle my bible before you get into this which was not there written. But we've added incense put on the new self as what it says. If then you've been raised with christ seek the things that are where christ is seated at the right hand of god. Set your mind on things that are above. Not on things that are on earth for you have died in. Your life is hidden with christ in god when christ. Who is your life appears then you also will appear with him in glory put to death therefore what is earthly in you. Sexual.

Well if you haven't been here for the last twelve years that your new than this being the thirteenth walk for water. Maybe this will help understand so last year and this year we've gone with the theme chains the cycle and you'll have shirts in some of your wearing the shirts and on the back or four icons and that is what to look at those real quick because when you wear the shirt you blast questions. I don't want to be like. Oh i don't know where to shirt comfortable. There's four logos on their done. What you like. The first one is the need for those who struggle to have water hunt daily basis that little person silhouette with the bucket turned over. Just a daily struggle that those around the world go through the don't have access easy access to clean. Water the icon is it comes down to the little of point you to two little silhouettes walking and that's what we're doing today. That's what you all have done for thirteen years including today. The nikon breezy around that water dropped with a nice little squiggly lines and that represents clean water. Which is why we walk for water. And then my favorite is. They're choreographing in the church of christ but the celebration the dancing that takes place at the will but also when we rejoice. So maybe this afternoon. When you're walking you get done. Walk in your four miles. You might still have energy to celebrate the fact that you're making a difference but ultimately that is and i've countless times when i've been to haiti in other places and i've seen someone at a will when the water pumps for the first time or if it's been repaired and flows again i've witnessed cure joy in that kind of celebration and then the aero. Obviously the cycle is changed. Now that cycle that we're talking about is a cycle that they get up every morning every afternoon. They'd take their journey that get dirty water. They get sick in the cycle starts over and over but with you all everyone else helping to change the cycle the cycle is broken and subtly. Thus who here this morning obviously here for common purpose we give the credit to god. And that's where the arrow points up. So that is what your shirt icon means and that is what we'll be doing today but i wanted to show you this for those of you have not worked lie. We walk could you imagine that is your water source. There's a lot of words that can be described but difficult insane dangerous but guess what's in there something. We need for life water. That looks yummy. I mentioned this class this morning. Kind of we kinda laughed. Because i know you guys experienced rainy and dry season but around the world. There's literally rainy and dry season. That is a riverbed in dry season. It'll continue. The water will continue to go down that a river bid many in the rainy season. Where you see brown is full of water is a river bid so the struggle is real but last year we worked together but we were still together and i just wanted to share a couple of memories last year. Madness had this deal still detention pitcher. But you all still found a way to walk for water in various locations. It looks like you walk in december tennessee. With all the geared murray. I don't know i. I usually look like that in october. When i come up for the ball and you guys are short. So i don't know must have been miller chillier and there you go just a flashback to show you it helps you remember the fine even though we're apart you still made that difference and that is what you walk for my favorite pitcher. We don't usually get that high quality photos back but in ghana there was a professional photographer taking pictures at some well. So so that is why we walked for water in the theme is change the cycle and this morning though. We're going to go down a different kind of theme with that. We're gonna talk about changing the cycle in our lives. I'm just gonna leave that up to the rest of the time you can see that in the background. But let me ask you this. When jesus came to this earth. Why did he come. You may very well say. He came to change the cycle in the gospel of john throughout the gospels. We read many accounts where we encountered jesus going into a situation and bringing chains do not specifically in john chapter five. Where we're gonna go to our story this morning to look if you want to go ahead and flip there. John chapter five but right there the chapter before john chapter four jesus encounters woman at the well bring change to her life change to that community then a chapter eight. Is you go on down. You see another counter where jesus brings change with. The woman caught in adultery when jesus encounters us change must take place when jesus encounters us. We have to ask. Are we willing to change. Now i'm gonna tell you this do do you like to change. Do you like change. No i want you to know and don't raise. Your hand confessed this morning but how many of you did not like the fact that some of your parking spots were blocked off. That is frustrating. Who is blocked. My how many of you come into church on a sunday morning. You look at somebody in your seat. I've sat there for twenty years. That's my seat. I don't change by sitting on the left side of the preacher looks different. We do not like change. So when we encounter jesus did he asked us to change our cycle. It's tough john chapter five. Let's go ahead and flip in our bibles they're fitting at a guy who works for an organization that his job is to talk about. Water would take you to the scene of water. John chapter five. We're gotta read versus through nine. Then we're going to focus on one part of the story now. There is in jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool. An aramaic called bethesda which has five five ruth colonnades in these lay a multitude of invalids. Why lane in paralyzed. One man was there who had been invoked. Kim it for thirty eight years when jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time. He said to him. Do you want to be heal. The sick man answered him sir. I have no one to put me into the end of the pool when the water is stirred up and while i'm going going another steps down before me. Jesus said to him.

"Individuals disciples of jesus christ who are not afraid to stand for the truth even if it brings this persecution even if it costs us a job even if it costs us family members even if it costs us friendships speak the truth. Never reject christ. Jesus and as i was reading on the plane yesterday as i was coming back from tennessee and i was reading about church history and they were talking about some of the murders and when they're talking about polycarp and it was at the end of his life he says for eight hundred six years. I have been blessed by the man that you are. You are encouraged me to curse. You want me to curse the man who has blessed me and taking care of me and provided for me for eighty six years. He says i'd rather go. I'd rather go to my death than ever curse or reject my christ jesus and reject the sacrifice that he made on my behalf. And there'd be have all mankind and they burn them at the stake brothers and sisters. We need to not be afraid to stand up for the truth. We must never be afraid for speaking out the truth in fear of retaliation or persecution. If you're hearing this message this morning and you need the prayers of the church. Let us pray for you. Let us know how we pray for you. Come forward this morning. The shepherds will be up here this morning. I'll be up here. We'll pray for you. We'll help you in any way that we can. Speaking with the voice of a man restrained the madness of of this once. Prophet and peter compares false teachings when you look at those two verses. He compares those false teachings to the profit who is enticed by. What by money you allow greed and covetousness to overtake him so much so that he looked to destroy the people of god in the old testament and it was bayless greed rather than that overcame him on another occasion and he died a miserable death. It tells us in number shafter thirty one but then you looked at versus seventeenth nineteen as we get closer to the end of this lesson and in verses seventeen through nineteen notice what it says now these are springs without water and miss driven by a storm for whom the blackness of darkness have been reserved for speaking out arrogant words vanity they enticed by flesh desires by sensuality. Those who barely escaped from the ones who live in error promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption for by what a man is overcome by this. He is enslaved. You look at versus seventeen through. Nineteen and peter explains what some of the false teachers were doing at the time of his writing. They were telling..

"We're having a good weekend. We should have. We should have some happy overeating spurt phase in here. Some big victories yesterday. So i don't know if the lions will make it a clean sweep probably nots. If you've ever watched the lions if you know anything about the history of the detroit lions. We don't win a lot of football games. But that's okay that's okay. That's why we come together today before lines games in order to encourage one another so we're not just standing there just you know just depressed in In as we go throughout the rest of our day. I don't know if you guys noticed but the balls in the air isn't it. I think it's supposed to be eighty today. And i was looking at the weather as i was getting off the plane yesterday. And i think Wednesday supposed be like fifty nine or something. And so i think fall is officially here is so it's going to be getting chilly it so we're going to have to start getting those soups go in. We should probably have like a potluck soon right where we could do a chili cook off if we ever done a chili cook off here. Well you haven't done in a two and a half years. I've been here. So i'm just saying like a chili cook off. I could go for chili. Some just saying so let. Let's open our bibles this morning as we continue on and our series of second peter. "She was laughing. But everybody's laughing. I'm so embarrassed. And you know what what it rustu. I'm gonna pull tom's here the next time we stood up. We went to sit down and tom landed up on the floor. My best friend and everybody laughed. And i laughed and i can even remember what room this took place in the flag. Shirts is just vivid in my mind and sister watson looked at me and said russ vengeance is suite isn't it and it was for about ten seconds on never forget that i love sister watson. She taught me a lesson. She didn't scream at me or yell at me or take me to my parents. I'll never forget her. And i'll never forget that. Say vengeance sweet. We have to think about our actions. Jesus did not retaliate. I should not have retaliate. But it sure was sweet for a minute but later on i was ashamed. I'd never shared this with my parents. I probably should have. But i didn't. I'm sharing with you this morning. But jesus didn't retaliate and we don't need to retali- because of the lord knows what he's when he suffered he made no threats whereas twenty-three he lifted himself up and spoke from the clock cross. He spoke about the people he spoke about what he was going through spoke to his father. He spoke to the thief on the cross but he never talked about his suffering. He didn't scream out his suffering. He didn't threaten people from the cross because he knew what was going to happen. You know one of the things that amazes me the most is if you go into the old testament read about the relationship between king saw and david david was in the court. He was playing this harp and what did saw do he picked up a spear that's right lewis and he threw it at david didn't he. He missed him. And do you know what david did nothing. Nothing somebody said nothing. He didn't throw the spear back. And i thought isn't that a great example for us christians. Don't throw the spear back. Don't get upset and you have that about. Jesus we've gotta hurry. We're almost done here. It steady and trust himself to him who judges justly. That's exactly what we're talking about a twenty three verse twenty three we have to entrust ourselves. God he's going to take care of it on the judgment day. Don't forget that that's what jesus did. He said i'm going to let god. I'm gonna let my father take care of this on the judgment day. I don't have to be god. I don't have to be a judge and in verse twenty three. Jesus entrusted himself to him who judges justly. That's powerful. If jesus can trust god to take care of him then maybe we should. Don't you think i just love that. Verse what peter saying. Christians give up the right to get even. That's what it comes down to chuck you have to give in. Don't give in to try to take engines. That's the one guy. I know he take vengeance right. We have to give that right up. Because god will take care of it. He's going to act on our behalf. That's what faces all about. If you really have faith in god doing it taking care of business. That's what faith is all about. The world says someone's gotta pay. We're going to pay back. We're going to take vengeance. I'm gonna get even. That's not what christian should do. That's what the world says. That's not what we need to say. No one gets away with anything. Put that down on that outline. Nobody gets away with anything with that in the back there and remember god's gonna take care of it. He's going to take care of his time is coming. His action is coming and when we have faith enough to realize that will entrust to him. He's going to do it. That'll make us feel so much. Better fact enrollments. Chapter twelve verse. Fourteen says i will repay. Who do you think you are trying to pay people back. Those are words for russ in second grade. I should said that. Let the lord take care of these things. I don't think the lord cares about that. Cherubini pulled out from under me. He has more important things on his mind. Don't you so let's trust. Let's let him do it. Let's let him repay for us unforgiving and this is what happens. Unforgiving hinders our prayers are singing. Our lord's supper are giving our worship. Our marriage our life our children everything is affected because of this and not only that but it makes our life miserable when you have to repay somebody for something it takes a lot of planning and we have to get back at them and we have to get angry and we have to make things happen and try to organize our lives so we can repay them. That makes her whole life miserable. That's why i wanted to think about this as we close. I want you to think about what the lord did because this is. What's.

"Sailboats. But what is the one thing that all sailboats having common sale what causes them to be propelled the wind. It doesn't matter whatever saying what you have if you have no win. You're probably dead in the water. Unless you gotta like trolling motor or something right but different men in different times over sixteen hundred years guided by the holy spirit head rolls the holy scriptures. And you know over a period of sixteen hundred years. And when i say where to sixteen hundred years come from well when moses winded. When was it said. That moses recorded The information fifteen hundred seat. When was the last letter written to the early church a. d. ninety five. What's that sixteen hundred years and so over. Sixteen hundred years forty different men guided by the holy spirit depend what we call the new testament the holy bible. And what do we see. We see. there's no contradictions. There's no mistakes. We didn't have computers. Didn't have google or being search engines. Where you could just type in a couple of words of scripture and pop up. They didn't have any of those things. they can have. Encyclopedia britannica goto. You guys have that when you're younger. Young kids probably don't even know what encyclopedia is because they have computers there so lucky. I don't wanna talk about the libraries. But you guys are so lucky and so you look at the word of god. Oh and we know that it's been inspired. We know that god had guided this from the beginning of time and so since the word of god is the source of our faith as well as the foundation for the spiritual growth of all christians as well as our into into heaven. You might want to pay attention. You might wanna find out what it has to say. And that's why it's second timothy chapter two fifteen. As i mentioned bible study this morning it talks about how we are to make sure that we studied to show ourselves approved adequately handling the word of god for what is the purpose in order to bring up train up other individuals brother as i said this morning did you know there's only about one point one to one point. Two million people in the church in the united states of america. In the lord's church the church of christ one point one point two. we'll is that import. There's three hundred and fifty million people if you're a salesman that's a good market. You gotta live for perspective customers. And so what are we supposed to do in a sense. We sell jesus very living out a christian lifestyle by teaching people. The word of god by teaching that is showing them live compassionate kindness unbrotherly brotherly kindness and perseverance. Showing them how to get along in the difficult times as well as in the good times and brethren when we're able to do those things that makes christianity attractive and so one of we have to understand that there's somebody who's not going to like all of us going out and teaching and preaching to our neighbors and persons aim is satan in one of his taxes to embed false teachers into the church. So if you were to look at chapter two and you were to look at what it's going to deal with. It's going to deal with false teachers. So you look at the next passage of the scriptures on the screen behind me and in verse one through three notice what peter says but false prophets also among a row arose among the people just as there will be false teachers among you who will seek really introduced destructive heresies even the night the master who bought them bringing swift destruction upon them many will follow their sensuality and because of them. The way of truth is going to be. Maligned is going to be perverted. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words and their words in their judgment from long ago is not idle and their destruction is not asleep. One second some water at center so you look at these three verses. The nation of israel it talks about in the very first verse. The false prophets also arose among the people. What people the jewish people right. We know that. How do we know of for profits from god. Well it tells us in the bible and the old testament prophets from god if what he says comes through and so that's how you distinguish it. So how do we know that the early disciples. We're of god if what they did in say came true and it did it so we know that when you look at the devil is trying to put people in place for the destruction of the church for the bringing down of christian nations for the destruction of the nuclear family and for the destruction of anything good holy and righteous. The nation of israel had false prophets who tried to lure the people into idolatry. The dry tried to lure them into worshipping or serving evil kings and peter in the life in a like manner likewise he tries to caution. These early christians as well as us that there are going to be lying teachers who are going to come in who are going to teach things. They ought to teach and they're going to wrangle over words to the destruction of their faith. They're going to add and subtract from the holy scriptures. Even though it tells us time and time again not you and where do we see. We see that he's cautioning them to make sure that they keep focused on christ and that they stay focused on the word of god and he says that the penalty for these false teachers and these false profits is going to be there swift destruction so brethren and his. Get ready to close this lesson now. We have to understand that. Unfortunately many christians in the past as well as today continue to be overtaken by false teachers and and congregations who have gone straight. These christians will lead a life of sinfulness and because of their own greed in their own covetousness and because of their lives they're going to lead people astray and so next week as we continue on in the series. Actually not next week. It'll probably be a couple of weeks. But as we continue on in the series we're going to look into false teachers and we're going to dissect this topic more as we go through chapter to you have to understand that peter's warnings were written two thousand years ago but as peter says they were meant to be relevant to us today just as they were relevant to the first century church because in the first century church there was persecution and false teachers. They had come to the to the forefront of the of the church and in the twenty first century. We have persecution and false teachers that continue to rise up to try to destroy the bride of christ and so brethren. We need to understand that. As god's people we need to stick to the word of god we need to stick to the word and make use the word of god and make sure we don't deviate from it. Make sure that we don't have division that's caused by it and make sure that apostasy is snuffed out and that's why the elders are so very important because their job is to spiritually feed and protect the flock. That's why we have shepherds. That's why we have elders. And so long as there is a bible in its entirety and it remains the sole authority in the sole teacher. We will always have a lamp to guide us in the dark and sinful world. We will always have that spiritual light. That's going to get us through the toughest days in the toughest times and we don't always agree about what it says and sometimes or how to do things but we must do is always agree that it is god's word and our research begins and ends in scripture as..
