"Hard, he's going to be really, really, really, really good. And as dirty Dave says, Baltimore is that guy. He is that guy. And if you look at the snaps, you look at the percentage of play, the coaching staff knows, because, you know, every single week he's playing more and more and more, I think he had more snaps than any of the defensive linemen this week on the interior. So they know, they, Steve Belichick, Bill Belichick, everybody on that team now knows, okay, he's got to play. He's got to play a lot because he and Jude on that combination is allowing them to play some zone and get at the quarterback with four guys. That rush of far more in the middle in June on the outside, it is devastating. Absolutely devastating for any quarterback because if barmore pushes you on the interior and you start trying to get out of that pocket and here comes June on on the edge, if they could find the one guy, you know, if ujjayi could play against the run, if they could find that one other guy on that edge, this defense. And I think Greg, you talked about it, the trading deadline. We were surprised. But when you think it makes sense, the Patriots were looking for a defensive edge. Makes sense, because if you've got judean on one end, you've got a guy who's better than what they have right now on the other edge. And you've got far more pushing that pocket, you know, inside, man. I mean, that would be a trio that's almost impossible to defend for an offensive line. So it kind of makes some sense. The run defense is better now. Yeah, so there was a change this week and a welcome change if you're a listener to this podcast where the Patriots went out there to start the game and they also did later in the game. No Dietrich wise that's three, four end. At times he was out there in sub package. You know, and I'm laughing. If you have it, if you haven't listened to the podcast a lot. One of the things Greg's been killing is the idea of trying to fit wise, you know, square pecking around holes, so gad, Greg. Yeah, and so there was another change, which was they basically demoted Devon God chow from nose tackle and pushed him out to end. He basically took wisest spot and they put Carl Davis in it knows. And it was very effective. We saw what they did against the run this week. There was there was a play. There was a series of plays in the third quarter, I think, where the Patriots gave up, yeah, so the Patriots come out of the Panthers at the ball 1154. They come out and they had Dietrich wise at end and they had Devon gotcha and notes. They ran two plays like that. The Panthers picked up 15 yards on both plays, 9 yards 6 yards. They then put the starting defensive line against the run out there with guy Davis and gotcha. And the next run went for no gain. I mean, I think the coaches are seeing it now. I was a welcome sight, that is their best run defense. They even put four linebackers on the field..

"Greg about Christian barmore. He's just every week. Like you said, the last three or four weeks every week he's in my three up. He's just been unbelievably impactful. He's been tremendous and here's the thing, Nick, that stands out. And I'll just use the pick 6 as an example of sort of his on field awareness and things like that. So that whole play, the Panthers are running outside zone. They're going to boot the other way. And basically what you're depending on. And the Patriots run similar plays to this. You're depending on the defensive line sliding with the offensive line. Because you have to go they still have to respect the run. And close down the gaps and stuff like that. And barmore does that initially, but at some point and I don't know what it was, maybe it was just sort of Sam darnold turning his head to the right, but bar more sensed it, Reddit, boom, saw that it was going to be a bootleg the other way and close really fast. And that started the whole play. Darnold was running for his life, then judon comes on late and darnold just makes a God awful throw instead of throwing it out of bounds. And they get the pick 6. That's just, you know, one example, and that that's been the most surprising thing and it's the most surprising thing to people around the NFL. The teams that passed on him at the bottom of the first round, who sort of questioned his football instincts on the professional level. And to me, I can tell you ever since he got on the field consistently, the practice field during training camp, there's not been one time. Preseason, regular season or anything where I've looked at and been like, he's not getting this. He's not getting that. He's not seeing this. It's been quite the opposite. It's been actually, he sees more than a lot of veterans do in this defense at that position. And so I've just been completely blown away every week by him. He is at times when you watch him. He's a man amongst boys. In a hat to have that kind of an impact in your rookie season. And when I'm talking about like ladder stages of The Rookie season we're talking like, you know, three, four weeks and we're going, okay, this dude is legit. And he is, I mean, he's throwing guys around on the field. He's mauling double teams. He's pressuring the quarterback. He stopped the touchdown too. Earlier. Darnold had Christian McCaffrey wide open and far more deflected to pass to save a touchdown. I mean, he's a dude. He is a dude. And he's a player that patriots fans obviously are ecstatic about, and you should be, because when you see this kind of legitimate impact from somebody who's playing, you know, a 6, 7th, 8th professional game. That means as long as he sticks with the program, as long.

"I think it was some of it was heat of the moment he had just gotten hit some of it was him just being frustrated, probably taking it out of Brian burns, a guy he has a history with going back to high school. And so I didn't think it was a big deal at all. Yeah, I think when we talk about dirty, I think you got to talk about intent. And I don't think I don't think Mac intended to hurt Brian burns. I think he got hammered and he was down on the ground and maybe at first I don't buy the whole Michael Hurley brought this up on Twitter yesterday, I think. It's tough to say after a certain amount of time that he thought burns had the football because you could kind of see, you know, that you could see the angle that Mac at some point had to realize that he didn't have the football. Yeah, this is a pile going on like ten feet away. Yeah, and I think Mac, I think Mac at that point said, as he grabbed this as he grabbed his foot. He said, I'm not letting you get the football. Or maybe he did initially think he had the football and he said, I'm not letting you go. I'm waiting. I'm waiting for my teammates. You know, I'm waiting for my teammates to come in here and tackle you. I'm not going to let you go. That's not going to happen on my watch. So he's grabbing out of the foot. The twist part is where everybody's losing their minds. And I've watched it a lot. And I think that burns initiated the twist. I think burns was upset that Mac was holding his leg his ankle. And I think burns try to get out of it. And he started that motion and I think Mac went with it. And that's what happened. I mean, I think Mac is one of the things we've talked about with Mac is his upper body strength and lack thereof. Everybody talked about how he's not the strongest guy in the world, he's going to work on his body. I don't think Mac Jones holding the foot of Brian burns as burns is trying to get away from him. I don't think Mac from his back is strong enough to start that to initiate that twisting motion and get his body to spin around. I just don't think so. So I think I think Brian burns has been watching a lot of NBA and I think it was a move that Marcus smart would be. Yeah. And by the way, the one thing that really pissed me off today before we move on to the game is this idea Yahoo sports. I don't know if it was Schwab or somebody else, but they wrote they compared Mac Jones to.

"You know, he looks like the real deal. He's got his head on his shoulders. We don't want to mess with that. I wouldn't worry about Mac Jones. Mac Jones can handle himself in the locker room. He was Alabama. He has swag. He was at Alabama with a bunch of different personalities, every all of his teammates wore by him. The Patriots still, as of this moment, still have a lot of strong leadership in that locker room. Matthew slater still in there. I'm sure he would get involved. Guys would keep guys in check. Josh McDaniels would keep him in check. As far as offense is offensive meetings and stuff like that, I am not worried about Odell Beckham poisoning the whole thing. I just, I'm not, but you need, but you need to be smart and you need to realize at some point in time he is going to get restless. It's just make sure you safeguard yourself for when that happens. Yeah, I agree with all of that. My only point with the Cleveland time is, I thought it was much worse in New York. And it wasn't even relatively true. And I think people when they think of OBJ, they think of his time in New York. They haven't been paying as close attention to his time in Cleveland, Chris Bayless. We're going to be pretty good with Tom Coughlin. I think he was pretty good with Coughlin, and then it was new. I was going to say the slick haired car salesman. Ben mcadoo. Yeah. Well, yeah, if that guy coached you, you'd run all over it too. Chris Baylor says I doubt we'll have the best money to offer. Correct me if I'm wrong, Greg, this isn't really a money issue. I mean, I don't think, I don't think any of these teams in the hunt are gonna be looking to pay OBJ any kind of big time money. I mean, they're all going to probably be dealing with the same cake as far as that goes. If you look at Green Bay and Kansas City and I think every team is going to probably have the same kind of offer, which is, hey man, come in, play,.

"You know, getting that sort of rest getting that recuperation playing some then resting. It's only going to be better next year. So you've brought up a couple of times this idea of long-term this makes sense. My question is, does that what OBJ wants? Let's say the Patriots are pitching Beckham. Hey, listen. You get in here. The facility, you get to work with Mac, max the long-term answer again. Offering him stability, but we want you to be here in 2022. And if we bring you in, we want to bring you in for not just the rest of this year, but also next year, my question is, OBJ, does he want that? You know, is this a situation where he says, you know, Bill look, I want to walk into the facility. I want to have some chemistry with Mac. I want to do what I can do on that field and help you guys win, but I want to be a free agent at the end of this season. I want to reestablish my value and I want another bite of the apple and free agency. I wonder if that's what Beckham is thinking. Possible, but if on the Patriots, I'm actually open to that. I mean, at least I just personally I just want to sign up through the end of the year. If there's some sort of option, as long as the Patriots have a way out, I'm fine with that. But if on the Patriots, I'm not, they already made this mistake with Antonio Brown. You know, with guaranteed money and all that stuff and at least they got some of it back. But if I'm them, I'm like, look, just come into our program, help us out for the rest of the year. Let's feel each other out. And then we'll reassess in the off season. And you know, I don't think there's a circumstance on any team where Beckham really even say the Patriots lose out this time. I still think they can land them in the off season. I would like the trial period. But I don't think he's gonna go anywhere. By the time he gets up to speed with a team, there's gonna be like 5 or 6 games left in the season. How good is he really gonna do where it's gonna increase his value all that much? But if I'm the Patriots, I'm interested in, you know, one year only, then we'll see. I'm not using a franchise tag because I need to use it on JC Jackson after this season. But I'm going just let's just deal with the end of the season. Then we'll deal with next season when we get there. Yeah, before we jump to the Carolina game because we want to break down that one as well and what happened over the weekend on Sunday, again, I'm seeing some stuff about diva, you know, diva this, diva that, diva this, diva. And Greg, you can correct me if I'm wrong, but a lot of receivers in the NFL are divas. A lot of receivers want all receivers want the football. When receivers don't get the football receivers bitch, Greg has brought this up. You know, over the past several weeks, Nelson Aguilar has been bitching, like consistently. So, you know, if you're concerned that Beckham's gonna be this guy who's gonna be complaining and bothering Mac Jones, you know, Greg sees is a little bit of that from Nelson Aguilar already. So would you rather have would you rather have OBJ's talent and him maybe bitching every once in a while or a galore's pitching every once in a while and his talent, and I would say again, and we mentioned this for people jumping in right now to watch this live,.

"And similar to Kansas City, you know, if you look at buffalo, they have that one explosive guy in Diggs, Kansas City has the one explosive guy in tyreek hill. And we saw on Sunday, Green Bay limited hill to four catches 37 yards, and there was no explosiveness to that offense for Kansas City on Sunday. And buffalo's going through some of those same things right now. I would say though buffalo, at least they have Beasley. They do have a manual Sanders, maybe Sanders hasn't played as well as they were hoping he would. But, you know, buffalo, when you look at how teams are defending them, it would make sense to have digs and then somebody else on the other side like OBJ. That makes it very difficult. Back to my question that I wanted to ask you a minute or two ago, do you like it for the Patriots? Your personal opinion, should they go after OBJ? Do you like it? Why? Not, or why so? I do, I came around on it. I wrote a column this weekend about it. It basically stayed in the case four and against Odell Beckham junior to the Patriots. And in the end, I came out for. And I was a little bit surprised that I did, because he's not my type of guy. I am not, I don't want to invite the headache, especially since I think I have growing something with this patriots team sort of reestablishing who they are. They've won three games in a row. You have a young quarterback why put more on his plate than he already has. But here's why I came down on, I think they should sign them. And I think they're going to make a very hard run in him. I look at more for next year. And I look at this as more of a tryout process to sort of see, because this season, look, could the Patriots make a Cinderella run and be the first team ever to go to a Super Bowl with a rookie quarterback? Yes. But history tells us it's not going to happen. You know, so the best you're hoping for really for the Patriots is a strong finish to the regular season. Contend for the divisional title with the bills sort of slipping here. Winning a game or two in the postseason, but really building towards next year. When everybody's been in the program, they get a full off season, all that stuff. And I look at next year, the Patriots depth chart for wide receiver. We pretty much know that Nikhil Harry is going to be on. You know, he's going to be a free agent. Are they going to bring them back? I mean, maybe on the cheap if he goes out there and he doesn't have anything. But they're not relying on Nikhil Harry for anything. And then you also have to look at Nelson Aguilar. I don't think he's been bad so far. I've been, you know, he's been fine. Could they look for better? Could they say, you know what? That contract now doesn't look so great for the production that we're getting. Remember, he signed a two year contract, so they can get out of the contract next year. If they want to. And it would actually save them cap space..

"It is the Greg beard patriots podcast with Nick cattles. We are live live, everybody. Of course, we've got a start Greg with the news of the day that everybody has been tracking Odell Beckham, junior. What have you heard about OBJ in the Patriots? So what I've heard is the Patriots are in on it. They've had discussions with Odell's camp, but they are not the only team. There are several teams that have had discussions with him. I do not expect a decision tonight. It'll be interesting to see if Beckham sort of pushes this a little bit. It could cause teams like I would think the Patriots would get out pretty quickly. I think they're the team that pretty much stays their case and says this is the deal. This is what we're offering you. This is what you can gain by coming with us. Take it or leave it. And they don't want to be dragged out because there were initials reports from like justina Anderson saying like it could be a couple of days or he's going to take his time. I don't think a lot of these times one that a lot of these teams want him to take his time. I think they want him in the building as soon as possible. I think the Patriots would love to have him on the field against his former team, the browns on Sunday. And that's not going to happen if he takes his time and we're talking it's dwindling weeks now, what is there 8 weeks left in the season? And, you know, it's going to take him some time to get up to speed and all that stuff. So the Patriots are in it. I can't tell you whether they're the favorite or not. I don't know that. I know that in all my discussions with people around the team, certainly nobody has come close to shooting it down. That they would not have interest, which interests me because normally if they're not going to go full boat into something, then they kind of soft pedal it. But I think they're, I think they're fully in, I think they realize the type of acquisition that this could how could help them short term and long term, but yeah, the Patriots are in this. Any idea how they feel? Not only, you know, if they're in it or not, but do they feel like they have a good chance, a slight chance, a great chance? We know they're at the table, but do they feel good about the chips they have in the pocket? I think the way I would term it is, I think they feel that they have a pretty good chance at landing him. That considering Belichick, where this team is going some of the the veteran leadership on this team, I think they feel like they're in a good position to land Odell and I think I assume they're pitch would be convincing. Like, look, we're building something here, and look what we did for Randy Moss, who I'm sure Beckham has talked to. Look, what we've done for other guys that are similar to you..

"Sign here, this isn't about the Patriots didn't want him. I don't want to see people in the chat on Thursday, bitching. Why didn't they sign hotel? They need Odell. They want him. They are trying to sign him. They can't force him to come here. He has to ultimately choose the Patriots. I'm not saying the Patriots are a bad option. This isn't me saying, you know, 'cause I know this was a narrative. Oh, Brady left and players don't want to play here. And players hate Bill. Like, that's not what this is. Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are two top 5 quarterbacks. Yeah. Mac Jones has been great. He's not there yet. There's really attractive options on the table for Beckham. I don't think the pagers are out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes here. But I just think at this point, the ball is in his court. I truly believe the offer has been extended. They think he would help the team. They want him. They are trying to get him. Now it's let's see if they do. I don't think this is a matter of them not wanting him. I don't think it's a matter of them thinking he's not good that they can get by without them. They want to add him. It really feels like that. So I don't want to see that. I don't want to see oh, they should have signed Odell. They know they should sign odes. It's pretty clear at this point. They know they should sign hotel. He just has to agree to come here. That to me is, you know, it's on him at this point. It's up to him. Yeah. So the last thing I had on my list of things actually relates to Odell. So we can go into it. At some point in time, and look, I love Jacoby Myers story, right? I love Jacoby Myers a story, but at some point in time we might have a tough need to have a tough conversation about Jacoby Myers because well, first of all, this was not a good game for him against Carolina. Right, I mean. He has the bobble play on third down where Mac throws him past the sticks and he bobbles it and gets tackled the yard short. I mentioned on the fumble, the strip sack by Brian burns that it was Myers that couldn't get open on the route that was taking too long. Forced Mack to hold the ball in the pocket. The problem that I see with him is not that he's not an NFL receiver..

"And this is like an intangible thing, right? His leadership. And his confidence in his bravado and all that kind of stuff. So I think it's really a testament to him. And not to give him credit for a Christian bar more as emergence because that's all Christian barmore. But barmore has been fantastic too. And he's somebody that has really taken misa by surprise in some ways. I knew he was a great pass rusher. I thought he was going to be a disruptive player for them on third down. The amount that he is playing as early as he's playing it, it took is taking me by surprise. I thought he was gonna be pigeonholed into that Adam butler roll early career Adam butler where maybe he's 30, 35% of the playing time. He's way above that. He's good against the run. He's good against the pass as a pass rusher as two gapping ability. He has the ability to shoot gas in the run game. This guy is really blossoming bar more into a total package defensive line in it right before our eyes. I mean, this looks like an absolute steel to get this guy in the second round. If you read drafted it right now, he's a top 20 pick. Yeah, yeah. I agree with that. He's just been unbelievable. And he's only gonna get better. That's the thing. You watch Sunday Night game? Yeah, I'm going somewhere with this. You watch Sunday and I gave you the first half? I think where are you going with it? So what Jeffrey Simmons did in that game? Yeah, yeah. I don't know if you saw that. I couldn't help watch Jeffrey Simmons and think, man. Give borrow another year or two. And I think that was one of the best performance at Jeffrey Simmons career. I think farmar could be better. But you look at specifically what Simmons did in that game and I don't think it's unrealistic to expect far more to have that kind of impact on a semi regular basis..

"Read option plays and the design cube runs on the goal line and padding is rushing stats and things like that. Those are things that I think Beckham took notice and you also just look at some of the other guys and one of the things that I've heard from people that I've talked to on Beckham is that he wants to be coached hard. I think that he looks at Ben mcadoo with the Giants. Kevin Stefanski with Cleveland over the last couple of years and says that those guys really have were not pushing me to be the bet my best self. And one of the things that when I heard that, it stood out to me was remember in Randy Moss's Hall of Fame induction speech. He credited Belichick with kind of pushing him to be that next level, right? To be that next kind of cerebral player. And I think that those are the types of things that Belichick gets out of guys. And lastly here, just from a role perspective, a vote out comes here. I really do think that he's going to play more Z than he's going to play X because this patriots offense has outside of O 7 and O 8 O 9 with moss. And that's probably the one exception has never really ran out of the X right? The X role has never really been the target's role. That's never really been the engine or the straw that stirs the drink of the offense. The receiver role as adapted from Welker or Troy Brown really Dion branch Welker to Edelman to nag Jacoby Myers. That is the most important role in this entire offense. I think they're going to look at it and see that he can upgrade that role and you still leave Nelson Aguilar on the outside to run the wind sprints and try to take the top off the defense and you open all that space up on the crossers and the in breakers and the yards after catch plays in the scheme, a little design type of plays that they use with the Z and that's for Beckham, right? Because I think if you put them on the outside and the X I think that's almost wasting him in a lot of ways. So I would just and I think you're gonna move around if they get it. But I would just push back on that because you say,.

"He's not quite that player, but he's still really, really good. And the one thing that I definitely saw on his Cleveland tape is why he grew frustrated with Baker Mayfield and his inability to get him the football, especially I think the beginning of the end for the Baker Mayfield OBJ relationship was the game against Minnesota in week four of this season. Beckham was open on the tape all game long for four quarters. And there were a couple of instances on downfield throws or baker just couldn't get in the ball or the ball was off target and incomplete, there was a couple of times or baker didn't throw him the football and held the ball and didn't go as direction. But Odell could have had a hundred plus yards in a couple of touchdowns in that game quite easily. And just didn't get the football and it felt like there were a couple of instances in other games where he didn't have those opportunities. And he wasn't getting the ball where he needed it. Now, max seems like the type of guy that when you watch some of the ways that they use the receiver is not necessarily here in New England, although I think Odell fits what they do in New England really, really well. I mean, if it's anything, he's that good. Right, going back to Alabama though for a second and just thinking of how they used jaylen waddle and devonte Smith in that offense and some of the you know the skinny posts in the slant routes in the over the middle type of things. And the one on ones on the outside. And the way that Beckham can go ahead and win both inside and outside, it does feel like on top of that, maybe he does have another gear after the catch that he just wasn't able to really show off in Cleveland because of the way that they were using him. Mac hits him in stride on a quick three or 5 step slant or something like that over the middle, and he's got the angle on the deep safety. I mean, those are the types of plays that Odell used to make, right? He used to run right by everybody on those types of throws. And Mac is the type of quarterback that can lead him in stride and put it right on the numbers and allow him to run with the football after the catch..

"Podcast network and on patriots press pass. I'm Evan Lazar as always joined by Alex barth of 98 5 and Atlas in the background. He wants Odell Beckham, junior on the Patriots. Alex has been tracking airplanes, helicopters, letting me know where Norwood airports entire flight log has been for the last couple of hours, of course, Odell Beckham, junior, now officially a free agent he has cleared waivers. Nobody claimed Beckham on the waiver order. So he is a free agent, can choose whatever team he wants to go to Alex. And I reported about an hour ago or so that I've heard three teams that have been connected to Odell the most. That is the hackers, the saints and the Patriots. Now, a couple of people have also touched on the Seahawks as potential suitors for Odell Beckham junior. I haven't necessarily heard that some dark horse raiders, conversations, but those seem like the 5 teams if you want to expand on my report that are really in the mix here for Odell. Yeah, I mean, that's all logical, right? Do the same thing. I know he can make the veteran minimum, but do the saints even have that money, I'm not entirely sure what your capital situation is. Their cap situation is tight. They don't have a quarterback, but I was told that the two most important things to Odell are playoff contention and offensive innovation and coaching, right? And I think a lot of people and they hear good coaching when I tweeted out good coaching, they responded oh, the packers don't have a good coach. You know, la flor kicks field goals in the NFC championship. Well, it does suck. Okay, but the floor sucks from the standpoint of game management situational decision making things like that. When I say good coaching, I mean a guy that's a bright offensive mind that's going to use the player to the best of his ability, not anything to do with did he kick a field goal, you know, down three or whatever it was in the NST championship game..

"Attention to the media rules. Adam you heard what coach Lafleur had to say there? What can you tell us about this ongoing situation with Rogers? There is an ongoing debate around the league about what did and didn't happen and where the rules were or were followed. And that will be up to the NFL to interpret, but the NFL said yesterday, Laura that it's looking into the particular situation involving the Green Bay Packers and we have seen COVID penalties be handed down to the New Orleans Saints Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos amongst others. We've seen fines, ranging from $350,000 to a half $1 million. We've seen the saints and ravens lose late round draft picks and we don't know what the league will do here, whether or not it will take action, but clearly there are an awful lot of questions being asked around the league and there are other teams that are really bothered by this particular situation in their words because of all these rules that everybody were following, and they feel like in this particular case, there's a question as to whether the rules were not followed. Yeah, the NFL looking into it as Adam said they're more from Adam coming as there's a ton of news around the NFL. But Marcus, you just heard the latest from chef D you've had 24 hours to think about the situation. What do you make of it all now? Yeah, I make of it. I make up it as pissed off swagger. 'cause I had a chance to think about this when we were getting it yesterday, the details and all of that, we were trying to get sorted out in meetings and figure out what happened. The bottom line is, Aaron Rodgers knew what he was doing. He thought he was being slick. He thought he was he didn't think COVID we're hit him, and this would be exposed. That's what this ball's down to. Dan talked about the availability for your teammates and all of that. He knew that coming into the season. He knew if he wasn't vaccinated that he couldn't be available if he came down with COVID-19. But it's the slick talk. And the thing that pissed me off more than anything is, we always went crazy when Aaron Rodgers did that opening interview for the season and airing out dirty laundry and now we sit here today with him making misleading statements and trying to fool people. So I point to that. And the reason why I point to that is because sometimes when the slick talk is happening, we need to pay attention to the meaning of it as opposed to what's being said. So, bottom line is this. Aaron Rodgers misled the media that asked him the question, he compromised in jeopardized his team being the most important player for his team. He's going to miss a game. He's going to have to come back the day before a game and try to get ready to play that game. And he's not vaccinated, so he may have to deal with this issue again. All of the misleading led to us knowing what the situation is in Green Bay. Is this all on Aaron Rodgers, though? That really is the answer that I want. Is it all on Aaron Rodgers? Because if you go back to the summertime and you think about what the NFL said, they said, whatever you got going on right now, and you want us to sign off on. And we're not signing off for it because that's not part of our protocol. We don't see that as being vaccinated, okay? Then you say, well, the NFL knew that the Green Bay Packers certainly knew that because the NFL communicated with them. And then Aaron Rodgers knew that because he's part of the Green Bay Packers. So you got all three as a corporate as far as I'm concerned involved in this situation. So when you look at is completely reckless. It just really is. And the reason that I become a little heated and animated about it is because you got to think about everything else. You got to think about when you were covering college football when all of a sudden, a little bit of it was lifted, and we saw people going crazy. What do we say? They run around with no mask going in. They did not vaccinate any out of their mind. This is reckless behavior. It's a super spread. We was going out of our mind about this. And now here we are with Aaron Rodgers. Matt Lafleur says in the building, he's doing everything. But what about outside the building? What about walking up to Kyler Murray at the end of that game and talking to kyla Murray? Whispering into his ear saying something to him. Right there, you putting him in a position to be infected, man. I mean, it's just pretty wild and crazy to me in this reckless. We'll continue to gather information on a Dan. Let's move it forward though because there is some good news for Green Bay Devante Adams back at practice after missing ten days in the COVID list. Jordan loves should be thrilled right about having him back. You've watched a bunch of love's pre season tape. And of course you're familiar with what she saw from him a while ago in college. What stands out? Well, his feet in the development of it. And I think if you want to get a grasp of how well he'll play Sunday nights, you'll know in the first quarter because in the small sample size that we have, the rhythm of his feet definitely got better. That's a foundational part of this often. So 39, you get covered too and you want to take your tight end down the middle of the field. Now this is gonna be a three step from the gun, but it's gotta be rhythmic. Catch the ball, peak the backside safety. You gotta go one, two, three, elongate that hitch and then get that ball up and over. We didn't see that in college. That's really good from this preseason. Now their play action game, I think they need to do more of it. Play actions to the right, you're trying to get a rap in from the top. In this offense, it's one, two, three, four, 5, back foot goes into ground, ball has to come out to that wrap in. That is development from the kid that we saw at Utah state. Now, this is also an offense that's built on hitches. Play actions to the right again, wrap in and then you gotta shake at the bottom. You know this reverse out at 6, three, four, 5, 6. Now here comes that first pitch. It's a wrapping is not there. You gotta reset in second hitch and get that shake row up over the top. Not three hitches. He does that on two. That is good development. And so I would say for packers fans, early on, just watch his feet and if his feet look like they're tied to the rhythm of the pass game and the hitches and he's listening to his feet with where to go to the football and when, then you feel good how that game is going to go. And I saw development from the kid that we saw in college to the young man that we saw in the preseason this year. Yeah, it probably also helps he's going against the chiefs defense. They have allowed the most yards per play in the NFL this season. That's a good matchup. That one works pretty well. All right, we'll keep you updated on this, but to another developing story odo Beckham junior excuse from practice a second street day as the browns and OBJ's agent discussed next steps for the wide receiver. This is all just about 48 hours after Beckham's father posted in social media about the frustrations with Baker Mayfield at brown's players, spoke to the media today we begin with John Johnson here what he had to say. You know, you want to see your guys have success, you want to see your guys do as well as they can. And when that doesn't happen, you know, you obviously feel a certain type of way, but I don't think it's dividing the team any type of way. I just feel like we just hardworking a bunch of guys and like I said before, if there's any way that he can get back in the building, I will be tremendously happy. I feel like the majority of this locker room would love to have him in this building. It's kind of interesting from the player side of things at him, but where are we with all of this in Odell Beckham, junior? Well, lord, it's the second straight day that Odell Beckham junior is not at the Cleveland Browns complex. And right now, it's hard to imagine that he will be able to play on Sunday in a big AFC north game against the Cincinnati Bengals..
Cleveland Browns Rule out Odell Beckham Jr. Against Houston Texans

Brandon Marshall on Browns chemistry now that Odell Beckham Jr is out for season due to ACL tear
"Shifting toward top story this morning news that we did all fear Odell Beckham junior lost for the season with a torn, left ACL. Keep in mind this is the third significant injury in Dell's career. This one has him out the remainder of the season head coach, Kevin Stephens, address the injury, and where the five and to Cleveland browns go from here. And Adele the energy brings the practice energy. He brings the Games you can't you can't No one else can bring that type of juice but. It's it's our job to find the guys that that can go compete that we can go put them in sponsor they can succeed. And I think. We'll be able to do that. That's not easy. Don't WANNA have to And I'm very disappointed for Odell. But that's the nature of this beast at injuries are part of this game and doesn't mean that many of us have to like it, but we do have to deal with it. Brandon. Brandon. How do expectations change now for the browns with Oh bj gone for the rest of the year Yeah I mean. They really don't change much. They should actually be better. Now this is unfortunate. Odell is a great player. It's it's going to be hard to replace his talent. You're going to miss them in moments you're gonNA, miss his playmaking ability. You're GonNa Miss, those times one to one going to miss those times where he breaks three four tackles and he can possibly. Get you back in a game or possibly even win one or two ball games but this team will be better because I believe there's no chemistry and no continuity. Well, we actually we all know that there's no chemistry and continuity. When you're dominant number one wide receiver, you put so much pressure on the play caller. You put so much pressure on the quarterback I experienced this throughout my career and I had. To learn how to communicate with quarterback communicate with the play caller because if you get an play callers, did they get out of rhythm and that's not what you want. You want that play caller to feel good about what he's dowling up. You also want that quarterback to be free think freely when he's dropping back going through the offense going through progressions. If he has one on one, he has landry on this. On this side. Well, people are going to say, well, why don't you throw del well, maybe two quarterback wants to go to Landry. So for that reason I think, Baker, will be better. He has a Guy Higgins that he has great chemistry with going back to his rookie year landry is his guy I think Baker will be better. There's going to be a lot of pressure on him to really work his offense now but now we're going to see if he is the real deal. So. If, if Landry's is guy, he's not, he's not having a bad year but he's on his spectacular year and I've heard you say though a wide receivers best friend is the other wide receiver because it takes them defensive pressure off him. But so far he's got zero touchdowns. He's actually thrown for more touchdowns than he's caught. So why do you expect Jarvis to be better and not worse? Well. It's more so about the offense I'm looking at. Them. Having success as an often when you look at Landry's banged up, he has a broken rib. He's been dealing with that but it could be because they've been they had too much emphasis on other guy on Odell trying to figure out how to get him going. So when that trade deadline come up, they're not trading him they actually find a way to make it work. So there's so many different reasons but I want this play caller to feel free and get into a rhythm I. Want this quarterback to drop back and go to his guys this team. How they win is on the ground and play action, but they're going to need to win throwing a ball like they did this past week sometimes in the national football league.

Karim Hunt, Nick Chubb and Joker was out right now, but All the weapons in the world. The way loaded by the way is no excuses. Is it time to say that Odell Beckham is overrated and no, no, And that's the That's the problem. They don't think so 10 targets last week. That's the problem. Let me tell you If you gave Andy Reid Odell Beckham Jr. Then you hearing about Odell Beckham Jr nightmare out there. The whole O. B J. Hey, he said the same thing if Andy Reid was the offensive coordinator for Daniel Jones. Oh, my word you Jones will be looking at him like You know you'd be looking at him like this guys is a force your hall of Fame er But I tell you, the guy that's calling plays for the New York Giants as the former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Ah, Garrett, and they did a good job. They just I'm telling the offensive line just couldn't get there. They're gonna stroll right? The offensive line just couldn't get there. Gapping, but nobody got overpowered. Likes a qualm Barclay. Mr Blitzing, You know, when you look at the sex that they got last week for the Steelers looking seal got him. He's on defensive ends. We're talking about safeties and linebackers at a You know they tricked it up. The Giants airline gives the Bengals online a run for the money to be the worst in the league. They'd say Quan look like a total bomb. I'm surprised Angel Jones looked as good as he did without online. Well, I'm telling you, the Bengals offensive line last week did not look bad. Did it not look bad. I'm excited about. Ah, excited about Cincinnati Bengals in Joe Burro. I am really, really excited about Who they are gonna be. And I think tonight when you watch football, I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised at how good he looks. Nothing shakes him. That's a big statement, forgot making his first start in the NFL. And remember, you know, there's no Donald Pound the night. There's no there's no crowd is going to intimidate 6000 fans. That's all I'll have. You know this this? Not this not this is a scrimmage. This is this is a scrimmage. And he's going to do well, What would I tell you? He's going to do well. I think when it's all said, and done when you look up, you're gonna say that guy is a number one overall draft pick that guy's not I didn't buy into the comparisons with Joe Burrow and Brady early on, but at least the poise It doesn't let anything rattling that comparison's definitely there and I thought he played a like Brady a little bit. I thought he played a pretty darn good game for his very first game in the National Football League, obviously with no preseason And you want to know what he graded himself as He gave himself a D. He may be made it. Oh, my goodness. He made some costly mistakes. He's just a couple, but that's all you need in this business of you if you found out about two times and throw two interceptions. Anything like that? Twice, right? I mean, you just know that you just gave you didn't help yourself. You win again, but I'll tell you what the God that we The guy that we have reminds me of bread far Okay, Kate. So drew lock reminds me of Brett far and the way that he throws the ball in the way he moves. He's really not really looking to run to scar you up. He's running to advance for first down. That's what Brett we used to do. And he has a big arm and Brett when he was young, overthrew receivers all day. I mean, we thought so bad on deep throws withdrew lock last week. But everything that wasn't a deep throat. He looked pretty damn good. Um and then you look at Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones. To me. You know, he looks like a ah young John Elway. I mean, he looks like a young John Elway And this kid, Joe Burrow reminds me of Ah ah, more athletic version of a Tom Brady. So there you go. You just those air three quarterback comparisons to three. Hall of Famer Sze. I think these three quarterbacks and we're talking about right now are gonna be around for a lot of years along with guys like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Those guys, you know, those two are already on their way. Okay, We've got five guys that are on their way. Tyrod Taylor, Man, that dude is not gonna last in this business the whole year. He just looks awful. Okay. Derek Carr. That running game there with the Raiders. Is second to none. I want to say this again. The Raiders running game is second to none. They can run the ball whenever they want to run the ball. And the only way that you're gonna beat them is that you have to stop them from running the ball. Well, that offensive line they have in Oakland or now. Sorry. And now in Las Vegas, she way have so many good quarterbacks in this business. We've never had this many good quarterbacks. In the NFL. Just think about it. Cam notice plan on a $1 million salary because nobody else will give him a job. It's beyond me. The quarterback play right now is the best we have ever had in the history of the NFL. Okay? And I know I'm saying a lot when you consider that you had the eighties when you had Marino Elway. And that whole group. Okay, Montana? Yes. Yes. And all of those great all of those great quarterbacks. But let me tell you this. That wasn't the case across the line. We don't know how good Ah Sam Donnelly is. We have no idea because Adam Jace is not a great coach. I'm just throwing it out there and I know he was part of the best office in the history of the NFL. Right here with the Denver Broncos, Peyton manning 5500 yards and 55 touchdowns. He was offensive coordinator that group. But that was to me that had to be more paid Manning than Adam gays because he can't produce the same kind of success. So don't tell me you're brilliant with the one of the greatest players of all time. Show me your brilliant with the next guy to Andy Reid has done it with every quarterback that he's ever had. Mike Shanahan is done in what every quarterback that he's had. You know you have some of these guys that you know, Bill Belichick has done it with every quarterback he's had in New England. Okay, There's a learning curve. But once you learn howto call a good offensive game plan, you should be able to get your guys easy throws and move the football and have some offensive production. We had that last week. We had a huge drop, man. Jerry duty catches that pants. We win that game. All right, man. Okay, you off your soapbox Now I'm just I'm just I'm just saying, like I'm hyped because there are a lot of good football players in this business now to cheer for by the way we have Ah, Bart Starr. Roger, Start Bike, and Terry Bradshaw. I would dispute the last statement you just made. You know what you're talking about Four quarterbacks. Guess was still playing Tom Brady and Drew Brees. You're going to talk about that talk about those two guys and Aaron Rodgers. You have three guys that are guaranteed Hall of Famers that a plan right now guaranteed. You don't tell me there's a quarterback out there in the history of this business. That's better than Tom Brady. Come on, man. Don't do that. Drew Brees is the all time leading past in the history of the business, and Rogers is breathing down his neck. Touchdown. The interception ratios. Come on, man, but then look at the next wave of the young guys coming through. Guys like Russell Wilson. We're not even talking about This is the best group of quarterbacks in the history of the.

Please hell you talking to live with our show with Stugatz on. ESPN Radio Neil. So the audience is a bit agitated with me because every once in a while I'm the annoying obnoxious strident guy. I who reminds you that a lot of human beings more human beings than not are followers instead of leaders you go throughout human psychology ecology. You will find all sorts of testing that shows people behave Outside of their morals and ethics sometimes in scientific tests when simply following instead of leading where they can be guided lead. And so when I say if the rules are dumb break them a whole lot of people out here saying and what do you mean. They're the rules and so I just give you this by way of moving on because When I look at what happened with Lsu and Odell Beckham? I think the rules are unjust. And him breaking them to me makes sense. And those of you who it doesn't make sense to. I believe lever protecting a system. That's unjust but I'm just going to give you this quote sent in the twitter. If a law is unjust a man is not only right to disobey it he he is obligated to do so. That's Thomas Jefferson. That's one of the founding fathers. When you're saying here I think taxes are dumb? Taxes are foundation of this country country. You can think they're dumb and not WANNA pay them but they're foundation of this country in terms of getting your garbage picked up but I think people view the type of leadership that Odell backup junior expressed that night maybe it is leadership. There are better ways to go about it. You have a big name if you really care use your name use whatever platforms you have have to try to. We did to try to instigate Dan. Yes but that's leadership where it's also look at me too. Okay so wait a minute. The energy has to be your way. I'm not saying Dan listen. I want players lawyers to be paid. I'm just telling I'm trying to give you what the public is looking at. And they see a guy who was handing out dollar or hundred means to God sees a millennial look at me the athlete sleep for this generation. He's very looking okay. But it's hard for people like look at me and leadership at the same exact time. It's all pills while leadership is is breaking the rules but it's not a rule it affects him. It's not leadership because he's not endangered anymore. Live concert there are more risks for others than for him. But he's the one getting tame today you don't know the names of the players other than borough that he was giving money to at you will when they do an investigation and they're ineligible to play. Ben Found decide the enforcing body that is by all accounts. Totally unjust will levy. It's totally arbitrary penalty based on how they make the rules to protect the rule book. That was made made one hundred years ago before teammate. TV money flooded into the sport. That's fine but then again Odell Beckham junior faces no consequences the players. That's the best kind of anarchy. Probably not the best person to boost the argument about rules being dumb and follow what you want and when he owns six hundred slaves. Good point could've gotten around the founding father using Thomas Jefferson certain moral order a loophole in the founding fathers data minute hold on a second. That's not right at all. Like I like plenty of six hundred one day I the part. That's not right is I could like plenty of what Jim Brown stands for without liking that he also stands for the beating of women. Now I understand that but in terms of like just strictly rules in that quote probably find another one. Let's put it in Google. Let's find another minute about rules you you think I think he could have gotten around to. That is agreed. Is Thomas Jefferson. Not One of our founding fathers. That is not the debate here. He is one hundred percent founding this country. This country is founded on breaking the rules. It's how we became a country and MM slavery was a part of all that too but USA. Am I right Yeah USA. We talk of football or you. Don't WanNa Talk Thomas Jefferson and slavery. I will say this he did have six hundred slaves. Mike is Right three two of them while he lived and another seven more after there is death. He didn't free anyone after his debt. That's that's what it says. Let's go digging into like how he treated the slaves right Eh. Well he was he was having sex with some of them. Yeah we don't have to get into that So we're we're actually bring Thomas Jefferson before the actual game right. We would have is on a hell of a show during Thomas. Jefferson's time we would have been so controvercial. We would have been yelling at him. What do you do in Jefferson? One of our founding fathers is all this stuff was slavery I just be blurting out. Founding Fathers. That's right you're just. Learning nickname also bringing down the wrong Jefferson considering that they have a receiver governing. which if you trace it back yeah you think Thomas Jefferson Tj? Back in the day I thank you for taking the conversation to the dumbest possible play off. So Chris Cody has been invoked by this Aaron Hernandez Documentary Henry on Netflix. I think this is interesting because I'm pretty sure that what I'm watching and I'm only a third of the way through it is basically just a really condense condense cliff notes version of everything. Boston was covering at the time that the national media covered pretty poorly combined with what the Boston Globe did. Recently the podcast series that was super thorough took a long time and now on television POPs more. I think this is reaching more people because because it's really well done and we're all fascinated by the true crime nature of not understanding how Aaron Hernandez could possibly arrived in a place where he was killing people plural while in the middle of making forty million dollars with the Patriots. And I'm going to camp and and signing a new contract and Aaron Hernandez I mean think about what. I'm about to say. Tom Brady could have had Aaron Hernandez still keeping him young Aaron Hernandez would not be too old right now to still be playing football. In a way that Gronk hunk is not Aaron Hernandez represents one of the few skilled guys that the Patriots actually drafted to get. Tom Brady some help all the other help that they got other than Aaron Hernandez and Gronk was usually free agents and whatnot so Chris. You've been fascinated by this right. I feel like it's a lot of rehash but I also I'm finding finding interesting the way that they condensed it all for us so that we're watching something that while it's not exactly new news all of that stuff that I've seen so far has been in this podcast series series that the Boston Globe was doing. It's still fascinating hearing him talk. It's fascinating hearing how simple he was not not sort of measuring during what. His position was not introspective. In any way yeah hearing the phone calls for that he made from jail to countless people and as they move on but I got through two thirds of it so he talks even more people. That's the part that I'm just like. That's what you get to really get a sense of how he was dealing with things the way he was talking to Marquees pouncey his. It's beyond say his family members. I was riveted by that access. Age Right laughing about Smith and Wesson deal. Get Him Smith and Wesson deal because his agents tell him. I can't get Nike. swoosh switches on the jumpsuit. That access to those phone calls. You're right though it's it would be a lot of stuff we've already kind of known but that stuff was crazy but no you should watch it if you want to understand better and likes to God's get the cliff notes..

Giants owner John Mara hopes rookie Daniel Jones never sees the field this season
"Rookie quarterback daniel jones solid performance in the preseason debut at a lotta giants fans getting excited about this year but they might wanna pump the brakes after hearing pain what giants owner john maher said when asked how he'd like this season to unfold ideally like unfolding for the seat of beyond hope. Eli has a great a year game. Never sees the field. I mean in an ideal world that you'd like to see that by the end of the day is going to be decision by the head coach to win for if
Cleveland Browns acquire Odell Beckham Jr. in blockbuster trade
"As well. But the big news blockbuster news out of the NFL today has wide receiver. Odell Beckham junior being traded to the Cleveland Browns. In return. The Browns are sending a first and third round pick in the two thousand nineteen draft along with safety Gebriel peppers to the giants. The deal is conditional on both players
Odell Beckham Jr. doesn't know if Eli Manning is reason for the New York Giants' struggling offense
"Gonna take over just short of their own thirty yard line to start. Also, an interesting game going on in Cincinnati today where the dolphins have the ball. And today might be an interesting sort of introduce yourself right on right on for the Miami Dolphins because they go through and nobody really believes it. But some eyebrows are raised and then they go into New England. And everyone went well that'll be that'll be the end of that. And it very very clearly wise. But I still am not one hundred percent. Sure. Like, I don't think the dolphins were as good as three an hour. I don't think they were as bad as they were doing the last week. And with the way Cincinnati's played at three and one. I think today will be a day that we learned some things about the dolphins. Yeah. Because this is in a turnover tight defense. Cincinnati. I think I think that they are going to pose a decent threat. This game is in Cincinnati today. And so the dolphins have a hill to climb here. Ten they do it. I always look at the first four games of the season. And we're just on the other side of that now and people have all these really rash opinions about what they've seen through the first quarter of this season. Anybody who knows football knows this. Nobody sees in his loss in the first four games. We gotta get through this hump this no October into November tumble where we get to see who is persevering we've seen it many times. Also, you can sneak into the playoffs with a lower record and make a ton of noise in January. So a lot to be learned about all these teams. Okay, James Connell. With the first score the day. He's gonna pop in from five yards out for the Steelers. What I don't know. After review is whether or not it's going to stand it's going to be closed as to whether or not the knee was down before he reached across the goal line. Also, it looked like Detroit just scored a touchdown. However, I think of flag just called it back, and it was Kenny golladay, which means it really ticks me off because I've got Kenny in bulk leagues. And so this just ruined my breakfast right here. Kenny golladay from fifty yards out. Beautiful cats in the end zone. Touchdown. No, just kidding. There's a flag may have been a hold may have been a whole. I'll say, yeah. I liked this spot for the lions today. You don't like this spot for the lines today? Producer lee. I'm sorry. No. I love the Packers. You know? I love me some Green Bay. You know, I love me all the folks up in Wisconsin. I just think this is a rough spot for Green Bay today there to one and one they're very banged up. They're not clicking. Emma lions at one in three and at home are going to be a desperate football team. And hey, Mike McCarthy give the ball to Aaron Jones. Those are my things I want to say about this football game outside of Detroit's first game against the jets where they got utterly dominated on both sides of the ball. I I really do respect with Matt Patricia has done there. Because those guys didn't quit and boy, oh boy. Field but Tariq hill game. Yup. I was that was low end around and hill took it all the way down to the thirty yard line of the Jags. However, there was a flag along the way. So not in the backfield. But something tells me this is going to be a block in the back, and this is going to. Yeah. All we gotta hold. This one's coming back, at least part of the way. And we'll redo I down so golladay and hill right out of the gate. Not really. They call it on Sammy Watkins, look when you have wideouts who are willing blockers, you love this stuff, and you really do. But that's Jalen Ramsey who is a physical corner, and he got tied up where walk ins and and on his way down. There was a lot of jersey being held. So that one goes back, and they'll be I in twenty instead of I down on the twenty. We did learn this though hill does not seem bothered by the wet grass. No, he he looks at Justice. Yeah. He. Yeah. Tyreek hill can run folks. I don't know if you've noticed this over a short time, and then F L, but he is extraordinary with the ball in his hand. So that is good news for Kansas City. But again, you know, the running game right there on that play. Just a quick outside. Play nearside Kareem hunt. Tackled with a two yard game. I think this is going to have to be a game where you really aimed to run the ball inside the tackles. Because if you're going to stretch the field left auroras should say east and west instead of going north and south you're going to have those situations where runner is going to have to get feedback under him before he can actually turn up field. Okay. I believe that touchdown. Indeed in Pittsburgh was overturned. So the review shows James Connors elbow. We're looking at the freeze frame right now. By the way, he's not down the one. He's done with a one inch line. Yeah. The knows that ball is shy of the goal line with the elbow down. So here comes third and goal from inside the one. On the nose of the ball is almost already breaking the plane. In fact, when I played center when we had situations like this just to screw with the defense. I would put my feet right next to the ball and extend it into the end zone. You know, obviously, those don't count as touchdowns in James Connor with a leaping run over the middle of the offensive formation Steelers. First blood in there, you go. Yeah. So that's what this game's going to be all about if you don't score on one play. It's okay. You'll score on the next one. We're going to see in Pittsburgh today. And now it's official. The Steelers are on the board six nothing with any PAT try on the way. And that is the first score of the game. There are many more no doubt to calm. Baker mayfield's about to take the field March will also join us next as the cardinals and forty Niners. Get ready for battle in the bay later today. It's red zone radio with Mark and rich on Fox Sports radio. Yes, sir. Brown.

"Speaking of your dad actually wanna play this. This is know Colin cowherd was trying to do a speech about why the giants. It doesn't work out with Odell Beckham and he's saying that you know, Odell Beckham a little crazy, a little sexy and the giants. They are the opposite of that. And this is what he said about the giants and their history was star share. You look at the history of the New York Giants look at their stars Mark beforre, Phil Makanji, David Tyree, Jeff, Hostetler. Phil Simms. Anybody, anybody got an Espresso, even your stars are boring. Who I mean, you know, he did a really good job of trying to not name like the biggest stars, which would be who I, I mean, Lawrence Taylor. I mean, yeah, sure. Lacks co bursts. Well, I mean, there's been a number Jeremy shockey. He's been there. It's been like this choir boy setting, Tiki barber. Was he acquired Boyko? Everybody hated him in the NFL. Pretty sure I get the I know what he's trying to say. It is kind of an understated organization, the Maras or that type of family?
