OBJ: 'The blond is back' and new attitude, too

"Newton Noto Beckham Jr had their own red table talk early on Tuesday. No Jada Pinkett Noble Smith. But that doesn't mean that both of these two were not going to say something that got people's attention. They both used the word humble but coining the context of tired of being humble. Cam Newton said that about replacing Tom Brady, the elephant in the room with the doing the Patriots and Noto Beckham Jr soak office hat and said the blonde is back and said he is tired of being humble. He is tired of playing that game. I don't know if we're going to Jada Pinkett joining them at any time soon, But Cam knew no Dahlbeck. Um do you have there red table talk, and it got plenty of attention, Especially way they use the word humble and the way they wanted to use it being tied of being that way to satisfy others. When it comes to playing football. I don't know if you can hear my eyes rolling in the back of my head right now, But when I saw that first I'm not going to be nice anymore. I saw that I thought was that broke version of LeBron's thing with a shop like that's what I saw, if if anybody wants to do Parody of this, with Victor Cruz leading the conversation, and you've got Odell Beckham looking smug, and it's weird jacket he's wearing Todd Gurley looking like he doesn't know what's going on one side of the table in Cannes, sitting with a cigar in these in these glasses of wine all over the table in the decanter, I mean, It was well done. I'll give him that Odo back him and his production company put this thing together. It was very well. I will say it was great to hear them. Talk about black lives matter Movement and what Corona virus That's very honest things to say about Corona virus and kind of the fear that a lot of people have of playing the season. The athletes at the center of this They are the product. They're the ones who make owners millions and billions of dollars every year yet I think that we missed the mark. Sometimes these were not necessarily considering all the health and safety protocols. Ah, when it comes to them, But so that's the stuff that I actually could get down with. But when the word humble was thrown around, I felt like you know, I needed Kendrick Lamar to come in and just kind of like, walk that back a little bit, because when you talk about the blonde is back and this that and the other thing with Odell Beckham have we not been hearing some version of the same thing for the last 3 to 4 years, Freddie Even before he went to Cleveland. I mean, it's every single season is new Year new Me New Year new Me But silence the haters. Got a You know, everybody wants to be labeled. We want to label something in society because we don't know what it is. And I'm tired of being labeled. Oh, my goodness. I'm tired of hearing this is every single year Put up or shut up, bro. I can't handle it anymore. By the corner. Cronin, Finn Fitzsimmons of Freddie Coleman on Friday and Fitzsimmons and ESPN radio. I said it's for the longest time and every time he does or says something like this without a Beckham Jr It further further confirms my suspicions. He still wants to be in New York. He doesn't want to be in Cleveland. Yeah, he'll say all the right things about the organization. But if he had his way, he still be a New York giant playing in the biggest city in the world when it comes to New York because his personality fits more in New York than it does in Cleveland. He doesn't realize that if he just goes out there because to me, he has way too much talent. So have that kind of mouth promising and making those false promises would come without backup Jr. I'm with you. I don't want to hear about humility I don't want to hear about the blind is back in. All of the nonsense stopped talking about it Be about it because you had that kind of ability and talent. But I still wonder I don't want any more. He confirms it every time Courtney Every time he opens his mouth. It tells me each and every time That he still wants to be in the biggest city in the world. Whether the New York Giants or in New York jet, Cleveland does not fit the personality to me in the mind of Odo Beckham Jr so and you're putting that out there. To me. It seems like he's laying the groundwork that if eyeball out in Cleveland, I want to go somewhere else where I believe my personality is going to fit that city and clear as a great sports city. Put it back on. Gina's realized that if he bawls out in Cleveland and leads into the playoffs and end of a deep run in the play offs, he could go anywhere representing him in a Cleveland Browns, but because he doesn't leave his personality Is suited for Cleveland. He keeps putting stuff out there time and time again to let everybody know I'm a celebrity, and I'm too much of a celebrity for the city that I'm playing it now because I did not want to be traded away from the city where I started my NFL career in the first place, and it's like we've seen the story play out. I said again and again, I mean, think about some of the distractions and think about what happened this offseason with him handing out cash Tol issue players of the national championship and You know, slapping the police officer on the Mac side in Superdome, and you know all of these things. It's like he was quiet for a little bit. And there were some trade rumors before that. I mean, like it or not, there was talks behind the scenes about him trying to get out of Cleveland. I have Pete. You know, sources that I've spoken with people close the situation. I know that it's been debunked allegedly at this point, but at one point that was actually in the works being talked about. It didn't just come out of thin air, so I mean I understand where he's at right now in wanting to wipe the sleep this late, clean because, you know, by his standards, you know he didn't you know, he still was 1000 yard receiving season last year, but he wasn't where he wanted to be. I think that he had different expectations for what his first year Cleveland could have looked like. But you know, the blonde is back. Does that mean that the celebrity and all of the distractions come with it to be as you'll remember? You know that last season in New York in 2018 there were a lot of distractions. There was an interview with Little Wayne where he was talking about his quarterback and essentially throwing him under the bus that created a lot of distractions in the locker room. So I mean, is that coming with it? If you're talking about the blonde is back, because, sadly, we know that this is one of the most talented wide receivers to ever play the game. But beyond that, you know, the blonde has kind of been the demise for him.

Teyana Parties Despite Lockdown

"The. Lockdown is over or at least apparently, it is for a lot of famous people for example, Cardi B. and offset just hit up Tiana. Taylor's packed album release party, which by the way offered, has met suits upon arrival, but not much social distancing. Going on here one of your guys. This thoughts on this not a lot of mass happening. I think less than half of the party had masks on, but never had. Done so in the invite to the to the event. It says like we will provide mass and has met suits look I love Yana think you know the album is going to be amazing, but I do feel like this party was kind of irresponsible especially. She just announced that she's pregnant. And there were kids there. It just seems like so many people in one place. And the lockdown isn't lifted yet. It just seems a little irresponsible to me. Yeah! I also think that if you wearing the has met suit half open so that we could see your cleavage or sculpted chess is like riding a bicycle holding your helmet under your arm. It's just it does nothing. Cardiac. Odell Beckham was there were a ton of people there and I did it like people are itching to get outside. There have been some things that have been lifted, so you wanted to get out there and feel normal again and I'm I'm sure that she's so proud of this album, but I think like you know when you're newly pregnant and being around all of these people I just don't understand the logic with this lean awake. was there like every Winnie Harlow like? I'm so confused on this money. Make you a new. The album is called the album which is short for the album that gave everybody respiratory disease, so make sure. Chance congratulations on download the album, but I'm not going to parties like house parties. That's real aggressive. A great guys pay attention

Goodell condemns racism, admits NFL wrong for not listening

"Responding to the unrest in the protests after the death in police custody of George Floyd NFL commissioner Roger Goodell issued a video statement Friday apologizing to players for not listening to them about racism here's ABC's Steve osunsami Roger Goodell says that without black players there would be no NFL and says the player protests have been mishandled by the league read the National Football League believe black lives matter I personally protest with you I want to be part of the much needed change he is responding to this video posted online by some of the NFL's most successful athletes like Patrick Mahomes with Kansas city and Odell Beckham junior with Cleveland urging the league to support them in their effort one of us to be worried about police brutality but the commissioner can only do so much to influence owners and the players noticed that the words Colin Capra Nick never passed his lips the quarterback who started the protest it hasn't worked in the NFL sense could also said nothing about his thoughts on players kneeling this season during the national anthem New Orleans quarterback drew Brees has said plenty on the subject I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America he spoke for many but has since apologized his own teammates were publicly upset I wish I would have laid out what was on my heart in regards to the chores for mother some model three the years and years of social injustice police brutality the first so much reform change I'm sorry and I will do better and I will be part of the solution and I am your ally in Denver NFL coaches and executives with the Denver Broncos took the stand with their players joining them in a March and protest players Kareem Jackson Todd Davis helped make the event happen so very strongly about what was going on in our country also is important for us to get out there together on the show that no matter what race ethnicity you come from you know the shop this locker room what you're you know wanting to kind of talk about things because another thing for us actually no get out and put some put a plan into action and that's what we wanted to do we want to make a and not an impact in our community currently the NFL has no rule preventing players from kneeling during the national anthem okay that's the most of zombie for maybe see yesterday president trump called Goodell's statement interesting and asked if it could be even remotely possible and quote the commissioner was signaling it would now be okay for players to kneel during the national anthem a move trump says disrespects the country and the flag

Can the Dutch save the world from the danger of rising sea levels?

"The Netherlands is the best protect data in the world with centuries of experience in holding back the floodwaters as climate change causes sea levels to rise can touch expertise. Help Save the world cities that are most at risk or think so bad that they will struggle to even save themselves themselves. Simon Cooper has looked into this question and he's with me now to discuss what he discovered. Hi Simon Esta so about a third of the Netherlands. ORLANDS is below sea level including the capital Amsterdam. You grew up in Leiden that also below sea level and were you aware of the risk of flooding. When you're a child ounce on facial redness blow sea level? I must say I never checked during my childhood. There's also a lot of land. That's not below sea level but susceptible to river flooding. WHO's three great rivers above the Rhine and in the Netherlands on my Johnny's to the sea? So you'll always closer river all see. I mean I grew up in Leiden as as you say. Which is I? Don't know about five miles from the same and it's reclaimed. Glands that Western Netherlands is where most of the population lives. So you know very large. Pasta appellation are most of the economy is they're threatened by the see below sea level and the funny thing is that because the Dutch of being so good since the disastrous Austral slaughtered nineteen fifty. Three of keeping the. I'm ribs it pay you better. Think about it in your daily life. I mean they're canals and you got fishing and did you learn to swim as soon as you can. Because it's unsafe to live in the Netherlands. Not being able to swim but generally you just don't think about the threat of flooding the Wolf's experts. I spoke to. This story complained that the population has always complacent. They assume the Netherlands would always be safe from the walls have given the geographical factors. That play is it the case. That's dot. History is littered with flooding disasters up to a certain point. I think you mentioned the last very serious floods Richard in the nineteen fifties. Yeah I mean. The Dutch spent centuries trying to deal with the wolves so plenty of the ELDA. The Roman author was stationed. There I think is a tribune in the first century idea and he he says look at being flooded all the time like wall miserable limbs by the fire of mud and it's just terrible and for centuries being flooded and people drowning was possibly cost of living in that area so they reclaim line from the seat. I built dikes. They did the best to maintain the bikes. It didn't always go well so for example. twenty-one thousands thousands of people were killed in floods maintaining the dykes is always sort of what history is being about. It wasn't always done well. So nineteen fifty three is the walls showed literally you get these disastrous floods kill about eighteen hundred people know. Madeleine's another three hundred dollars. Nason England something there. I think the English would largely forgotten by the doctor having forgotten that so often the fifty three flood the government says right never again and they set up a commission. The Commission says you have to build incredibly expensive defenses and it's going to take decades and cost in tax in this country that has been left low by the wall which is ready poll with people emigrating to the United States Australia and the DOT com says yes. We'll just do it because we have this again. One of the things you write about in the Steve Dunn for fifty we can magazine is something something called the Paul. D'Amato can you just tell us a little bit about what that is. Yes Oh upholder is a piece of reclaimed linemates flatlined and when you take a train through the Netherlands you see everywhere. He's very flat fields often. I see some cows grazing next to the cow will be a massive office block. Is the Docs use every inch of space in the small country and canals to carry off the water and the thing about the pulled. Ramon del as they reclaimed this line but the line was incredibly vulnerable because is one flood and everybody drown us so each district had to maintain its own dykes and in the Netherlands centuries yet terrible religious disputes and people killing each each other promising Catholic woes from fifteen sixty eight and so there was always political division but in the end it didn't really mice what religion you. You had some tightening talk so they created the system of negotiation compromise. You know the local weather being elected and sitting in committees about what's going on with our dyke and so it creates this very politics that exists today of compromise in pragmatism. You had to set the religious stuff and the audiology one side in the end. You just tattoo wet together to survive and mostly things were managed very well so today politics. I mean I think of it as a one party system you have have different policies but that was in coalition with each other and one full more another and so whether or the sensor ride. BVD All green left. All the centre-left peeve on the you're always having to negotiate and deal with each other in a pragmatic way and the Dutch coal that pulled him Odell and the golden so pulling means to sit down and hammer out a compromise compromise that nobody is going to get excited about it. I mean it just fearless. Though as we're seeing sea levels rise that kind of model of cooperation is going to be more and more needed around the world but I mean the other thing overseas money. Do we know roughly how much the Dutch spend each year on flood defences well money. I mean the surprise me. When I was researching the story money in a way is the easy bit I mean? The doctor saves money by spreading their spending. On dykes over seven hundred years. He is but nowadays they spend about a billion euros year on flood defences which given the most of the country's susceptible to floods is where you know bad it's commit more than north point one percents of GDP so the average person just really doesn't exit and obviously doing it from scratch like New Orleans. Now I mean New Orleans which is sort of similar bliss situations of the Netherlands has spent fifteen billion or US suspect fifteen billion levies etcetera. Protecting New Elaine. Since two thousand and five but if that's the cost of the survival of a place is actually not that bad so wealthy countries can do this. The biggest problem is that they don't have pulled a modell they don't have this. Pragmatic take compromise long-term spending which the Dutch you spend on dykes even when there's no crisis even when you haven't been flooded in decades you just do it all the time we know in the US. For example Donald it is just a big problem with spending any infrastructure so they weren't even on potentially life-saving infrastructure. Like dykes levees. So you have to think long term which is the the problem in many societies whereas spending don ends political rhythm so the new government the new president will spend something in the next one more of us. The ducks don't do that. Doesn't Marie Masters and government money got spent and the other thing is that you have to have a national program. You can't say will you happen to live in the two square gweat miles. That's most susceptible to flooding. So you must find the couple of billion it will take you to protect yourself against the wall Cher. No this is a national thing so we have have a national plan and national taxes to raise the money for wo suspending. Even can be a bit more if you live in. wosa threatened district broadly the whole population pays and the other thing. Is that good defenses ready. What when it's a national strategy because if you build a dike or Levee to protect your factory or your neighborhood ed or your apartment building and you see that in Miami where some buildings after on seawall then you're actually endangering the neighbors because the voices will hit your seawall? I'm be diverted to the neighbors so you can't have some people protecting themselves and others not which is very common along the US coasts. The ducks done do that. The whole whole country is protected so I came away thinking countries like the. US can folded countries like Bangladesh. Perhaps not but they don't have the long term they don't don't have the culture of negotiation and compromise and they don't have the National Corporation that you need to do this successfully. Some of these places have been turning to the Dutch asking asking for advice. Is that right. Yeah so I went to the Moslems kidding which is the big storm surge barrier that protects the rouse Ma'am Haba one Dutch official described it smears the front door of the Netherlands so is always waiting to close if the waters rise. Three macy's they haven't since it was completed twenty three years ago so so a lot of foreign visitors come to the Muslim caring because more and more cities around the world thinking of building storm surge. Barrett's the Italians are thinking about it. Venice has some protection protection. Maybe not enough George. Bush was recent visit. He's the Texas Land Commissioner. I think he's the nephew of George. W and George. Bush is trying to think of ways to protect Houston and ironically it's oil refineries from the rising waters which caused caused by the carbon emissions made by those are refineries arrays and so they come to the Netherlands. Look at these models of what the Dutch do and see if they could work in their own countries and to some degree the model model is the easy bit. The infrastructure is the easy but you can't build storm surge barrier but you have to keep monitoring dotting its spending on maintaining it and also so given the wolves are rising checking every couple of years. How long will my barrier last? Are we going to need to build a whole new on. We're GONNA need to build Out Bigger because if you build it for say a meter of rising waters it might not be able to save the water rises one and a half nieces and apart from the Moslem carrying this other flood defence strategy being used by the Dutch. Yeah I mean it's a whole system of dikes. If you woke woke along the seacoast you don't see the waterfront properties that you see in American real estate ads. Where you'll deck overlooks the ocean? And The Netherlands. Nobody lives CBS on the beach. You have the beach and then you have the Junes. which are these man made hills of signed that stopped the C- coming in and you can only live behind the junes? Then you have these sluices which can open or close depending so the real Saddam Hall. The Muslim king is open because as I was standing by the catering watching ships coming in and out on the way to Britain and elsewhere and is able to close. It's like a door that opened it's able to close it's the Walsh's rise so it's a very flexible and complex system the difference in every place in the country but that

Analytics in the NFL

"Going to talk about these Brown the whole topic of analytics because Mike when you think of mate Alexi often think about major league baseball. And you know Bill James's cyber metric revolution. Should Billy Bean moneyball the book movie all the rest of it and wanted Billy Bean's main guys was Paul D Badescu. CUPID ESTA LA. Believe in the as he goes the mets eventually. Now he's with the Cleveland Browns. Tired and twice sixteen says famously. I don't know too much NFL. But I've got all this information all this analytics we'll make things work also infamous said he didn't think Carson Wentz was the top twenty quarterback now now as we look at your column today. Athletic is always. You can subscribe the athletic read. All Mike's work there the war between analytics and football people is pointless. The real challenge is finding someone who can properly understanding process all the data and then make the right decisions and how to deploy and I'm not sure. The browns have solved that problem yet. They hire Kevin Stansky is their head coach. Why why are you skeptical at? They've solved it. You know I like Kevin and I and I don't mean to be critical Kevin. But I think Kevin's a really smart guy. And I think Kevin's obviously you know well. Educated aided came through the coaching ranks. The right way started on the ground floor worked his way up. I just think it's going to be a real challenging job for him because he's got to manage a lot of personalities in that locker room and deep. Pesto said at the press conference that they were looking for a leader. And you know. And I think that Kevin's probably more of a guy who's low key. Quiet it you know has a shared vision with everybody and that doesn't mean he's not qualified. That just means to me I think the vision of what the browns think they need. And what what. I see the browns needing in terms of somebody to come in and be able to handle Odell Beckham because look like Odell Beckham. The little like Michael Jackson Right. I mean he's is not compliant right he will show up on time. He'll do what he has to do right but the one thing he will do is he will create people following him he will create and so what he doesn't come to. Ot Days where he doesn't want to do things or he wants to go out. Color outside the lines dominic does he. Will you know get the people follow him. And who's going to challenge him to do that. Who's going to challenge him to do that? You know and I thought it was funny. Ad When you know they asked Stefanski Gi you know what did Mayfield think of you like. I'm not really worried. Would Baker Mayfield thinks of me. I'm worried about what I think. Baker Mayfield Shinto like I don't have to make Baker Mayfield Happy Baker Mayfield to make me happy. And I think you can look at all these analytical numbers and it's great but at some point football's a game a leadership. Football's the game of toughness. Football's a game paddle. Football's a game of conditioning. Football's a game of making people do things they really don't WanNa do right. You need intelligence. You need all those things but you need grit. You need some of that and I just think that the way they handle this they obviously got somebody who's more collaborative than dictatorship and. That's what they wanted on it. I'm not sure that's what they needed. As you mentioned the com- analytics is just another word for information. And when you worked for Bill Belichick or walls work with them. You know you were feeding them. Information to quote gridiron genius. The fact you Mike Holmgren were good friends. He called you scooper because you were so tune in and what was going on around the NFL. Hiring coaches like homeroom is a convoluted path to building a staff. It required Walsh to spend lots of time and energy coaching his coaches. That was why he hired guys. Who are intelligent before there? Anything else guys. Were not typical products. The football industry his special teams coach. Fred von happen may still be the only coach in NFL history who read Sylvia plath every day before heading out to the practice field. Maybe the violence of her poetry help to prepare him for the carnage of kickoff coverage. That's a great quote but just to further the point about Walsham ballot check and how they assemble their staffs. Yeah I mean look. Nobody was more cerebral lim bill right but he's a real tough guy. Nobody's more cerebral than Bella check. And he's a tough guy and Fred. Von Was a tough guy you know and he'd read Sylvia Plath and he was was excluding the part that she put her head in an oven and he literally read that every single day it was unbelievable and his vocabulary was incredible vocabulary. Sorry but they had a sense of toughness and I think that parcells is the same way. parcells wants to hire guys from the Military Academy. He wants smart people right. Everybody wants smart people. They want smart people but they also want smart people that are going to be branded and do what they wanna do. And demand from the players not collaborate from the players and I think that this analytical nonsense is truly we're all in the information business so all the information is really important in my belief is that we're missing in the point when somebody puts on and says well there in eleven personnel. And they're doing this and that like do you understand what the eleven is and what they're really trying to accomplish. I mean Tevin Coleman was the running back that was the main back this week because Kyle Shanahan wanted a running back. Who's GonNa Threaten Mike Zimmer in the backfield because Mike Zimmer was gonNA play three linebackers now once that happened that according to the chart? That's twenty-one toward the analytic he's in twenty one personnel but he's really not because he's got Coleman in the game he's only in twenty anyone with Coleman because he's got three linebackers so how do you differentiate that you know. How do you break down the information you know? There's so many times I've been in meeting with Bela check. I'll be watching tape. And I made a comment. He said well the only reason they're doing that is because they're doing up about anyone into that you know like oh I got it now I got you just taught me something right. Like that's the game

Browns Make It Official

"We will start with the official news out of Cleveland Scavenge to ban skis hired by the browns. They announce officially on Monday. He's thirty seven. Spent fourteen seasons as an assistant in Minnesota but has never been a head coach at any level level his entire. NFL coaching career. As I mentioned has been with one organization the Minnesota Vikings Stansky took over play calling duties on offense late in the two thousand eighteen season. Minnesota ran the ball. Forty seven percent of the time with Danske asked the play caller. That's the second highest rate in that span trailing only the Baltimore Ravens was introduced at a press conference just a little while ago. I the foremost success starts with people and I know we'll talk a lot about culture but it is absolutely about the people and everybody knows the Harry Truman quote. It's amazing what you can accomplish when no one cares who gets. That's the credit and that's what I believe. We have in our building. We have great people. I know we're going to add to it will hire G. G. M. here in the next week can or two and we're going to add to this culture that that we're building here and we have the right people and again. I can't stress enough. How excited I am the be? Just a part of did you know to use a basketball terms to my dad can understand this. I want to be the point guard for this organization. I want to bring the ball up then I wanNA share the basketball and let so what else get an easy bucket though smiling over there. WE'RE NOT GONNA I'M NOT GONNA speak anything into existence right now I can. I promise you that we're GONNA work. I've already spoken to a few of our players already. And that's what I'm about I'm about working and I'm about putting a foundation together the other. We will be methodical about it. We will not skip. Step two two and three to get to four. We're GONNA start in the foundation and then we're going to reinforce foundation Shen said we can build upon it and when I'm talking about this I'm talking about schemes and technique will be diligent about working with our players so that they can develop into the the best versions of themselves and ultimately we're building a foundation for what we hope is a championship. Effort will have a culture of accountability. We'll have structures is in place the players will understand our rules. And what we're about and we're going to demanding and we're going to hold each player accountable. Because ultimately I know this about players they they May Not come out and ask you for that. But that's what they want. Well perhaps the tenth. TIME IS THE CHARM IN CLEVELAND. Stansky is the tenth full time head coach Wjr. The browns have hired since returning to the League in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine that is the most in the league over that span of the previous nine. None have posted a winning record. Heard and not a single one has lasted more than four seasons continuity and consistency has been a real issue in Cleveland. Victor certainly something they'd like to you see changes to fanciest step in the right direction. In your opinion will I believe he is and I think that consistency where it is important. And right because you put up that list of all the coaches and the coaches that they've they've pretty much funneled through throughout the years can you provide that level of stability that they've been seeking for almost a year in and year out. Can you provide that for their now. The thing I do like about Stansky a fan ski is that he has experience with creating plays for two star receivers and I think that's something that's going to have to translate over to the Cleveland. Browns obviously with Odell Beckham junior junior and Jarvis Landry and having that experience I'm sure enticed of that for an office inside bring him in and understanding that they got to get the best out of these players in the best out of all their play makers obviously nick included In the backfield now is he going to be a leader of men and he is he going to be able to handle. The Eagles and the different personalities is that are in that locker room. Desk the biggest question that still remains to be seen. It's defense gas interviewed with the browns. Before in fact it's believed that he was the first source of politics but Desta several seasons ago and and it didn't work out. Matt you spent time with him as part of that Minnesota Vikings Organization. What can you tell us right? He he was a young quarterback coach at the time. And so when I got there was actually a little bit older than he was which is an interesting dynamic but at the same time. He's been all around that building. You know he's an administrative assistant and when he started there then. He was a quarterback coach. He's I've been with the running backs he's been with the wide receivers so he's been in all the different elements of the offensive side of the ball. He's seen the ups and downs. He's seen how free agency can impact so he's got a great feel feel. He's a great leader. He's got a presence about himself in the other thing that I think that the Cleveland browns are probably drawn to is the simple fact that this is a very quarterback friendly offensive structure that he's presented presented in for a guy like Baker Mayfield that had had his struggles last year. And maybe some confidence issues. Maybe not though. Let's see the press conference the same time. It's a quarterback friendly. There's a lot of play action. There's a lot of movement of the pockets. A Lotta easy throws to be made screen. And then there's like you said that balance forty seven percent percent of the time the run the ball. There's great balance in that offensive structure in for a young quarterback and going into his third year after some struggles. I think this is a great fit for that organization Asian and going back to when they actually made this higher People in Cleveland were telling me that it was actually his run game because we see what he was able to do with Dowling Cook and how he was able to make become a good player to really a great one and he's a central part of that offense that we now see in Minnesota and that was a big part of it but in terms of now Cleveland going forward looking for GM the way it was explained to me is they really want these to head coach and gm to work as one. This is why they moved on. From John Dorsey Percy and Freddie Kitchens. They didn't feel like this was working together. So they're looking for someone who has the same vision and the analytics department obviously is of of crucial part of Cleveland. And what they're looking for a head coach and I think that's why Stefanski became that lead candidate because he's accepting of it. He wants to be part of that and You know I think I saw some reports out there about how Cleveland is demanding that their head coach presents the game plan to ownership and really the way it was explained to me. It's not so much that they want to see the game plan. They just want everyone to be in sync to go over to make sure they're all on the same page headed into the game. Well you can't blame him and and that is something that clearly was not the case. I think you make a great point. It's poor in that somebody come in and be able to work and mold Baker Mayfield but also be able to be the CEO and run this whole organization and have everybody else be accountable. I think Freddie Kitchens might have had one of those two things that went by the wayside outside the quarterback with the hiring in Cleveland. What it does mean? Is that every chair on the head. Coaching carousel is now accounted for. The browns were the fifth and final team to hire a new head coach in the off season. Three of the hires tires Stefanski as we just discussed Joe Judge with the giants and Matt Raw and Carolina our first time. NFL head coaches the other two quite the contrary contrary Mike McCarthy in Dallas Ron Rivera in Washington they will get a second chance or in some cases third or fourth various established. NFL head coaches of of all the five. Who Intrigues you? The most in their new spot intrigues me is Matt Rule. I WanNa see what really transpires here right. He seven years sixty million dollar contract. That's a big commitment big commitment. I mean we might need to think about going into coach. That's it has everything else that they're also saying that they're making a commitment to Cam Newton with the type of style and the offensive structured. That they've set up McCaffrey's there I mean they've got the pieces of the puzzle there now. It's interesting to see how that that offensive structure from college translates to the NFL. which is I mean? There's been guys like chip Kelly in the past right John Harbaugh's price guy. That's been the most successful but that was more of a pro style offense with the most the most recent Kingsbury in Arizona so cliff Kingsbury. Excuse me it's been a mixed bag. There's no question. Let me ask you this just circling back to something you said by hiring Matt rule it you believe this means a commitment to Cam Newton. Can you explain why why I just think that The Baylor and watching their offense of structure and the RPO that takes place that's run pass options and all the different things that they're well versed in and that the Baylor offense has been historically historically very successful with in terms of that offense of structure I just think that that Fits Cam Newton's game very well and so I believe that that's a statement saying look. We wanted to bring somebody in here that you're going to be comfortable in this type of offense of structure and go out and be able to put yourself in a position to have success extent to intrigue you for me. Is Joe Judge my beloved giants. I think well I just think because going into it. Once I saw the Vacancy Happen at the head coaching position I was all right. The giants are GonNa come in here and get either like a Ron Rivera type or even McCarthy and get a guy that will come in and commanding presence. Once he walks into the building and I think with the hiring of Joe Judge just left me like okay I. It felt like the same cycle almost felt like coach mcadoo a couple years ago when you give a guy a shot and bring him in if he can transcend The coaching position or the year. After that when you bring in Pat Shurmur and you try to bring take a chance on another guy. Felt like we're taking another chance on another guy but granted. I must say I loved after the press conference I loved his mannerisms I love. He literally embodied what the New York Giants Football Organization is all about when he stepped up there on that podium Liam so I say that with a grain of salt because I love the press conference and I think he's going to bring something different than the other two coaches did in the past. But I still left me scratching my head in terms of who was out there here in the type of guys that could've came in that building and commanded a present these guys by the way Matt Rule and Gioja Geno. It's not about winning the press coverage but they did rule who was must see TV. I was just watching. He's missing time with the giants. Who so I knew all about? He's got does I think you know obviously recruiting such a big part of being a head coach in college. You don't mean to recruit You know when you're in the NFL. Which is why? I'm an agreement with you. I think that is the most enticing match COPA or at least the situation of the coaches just because you just look at history and making that jump from college the NFL. It's not easy and there just hasn't been a high success rate there. I think obviously he spent a little time with a giant. So it's not like he's

"odell" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why

"Where with abandon Greg? We are back and I want to talk talk a little bit about the hottest hot news. The hottest of hot takes in the NFL right now. Odell Beckham in this weird situation with the Cleveland browns. I I'm GonNa tell you that. I genuinely believe despite all the rumors that were hearing all the talk. That Odell could be moving to another team. that he's begging opposing teams to come trade forum Allah Eric Berry so many years ago with the cowboys the best move for Odell is to remain with the Cleveland browns. And I think this is true for a a couple of reasons one first of all. He's not having a bad year. There's this talk. That Odell Beckham Junior is suffering through this incredibly terrible season in Cleveland and that things are never going to be right with him again. He will never be a superstar again. He's he's basically you know James Thrash at this point. He's on pace to catch seventy three passes for over one thousand yards. It's a very good season borderline. Alan pro bowl numbers now. I know we're having a lot of Rod. Receivership had big seasons this year. So seventy-three on thousand years probably doesn't make it but those are borderline order line pro bowl numbers also one of the better seasons than any wide receiver in Cleveland browns. History has had in quite some time. And so there's the other thing to this team is going to get better and better and better if we believe this. The sports hernia nonsense. Which I think is a little bit of an excuse is to be honest with you but if we believe this then there's no reason to think that Beckham's not going to be back stronger than ever next year? He'll be more athletic quicker. He'll have his burst back and he will now have the benefit of having a season under his belt with Baker Mayfield. I think that missing these T.. As in the fact that he didn't practice much in training in camp really hampered the production this year. You know this isn't. This isn't a guy who is going to skip time in years six of his career with the New York giants and he knows that. Look me alive play together for five seasons we know what each other is thinking. We know what each other is going to do. This time isn't going to hurt anything. BECCA missed just incredibly valuable developmental time in terms of building rapport with quarterback. When he wasn't there working out with Mayfield? Not as and stuff like that that is going to come in time and point three is that and I want you to run. All these Gregory Point three is is that he's on that cusp of becoming coming the more trouble than he's worth diva wide receiver. He is not far off from teams. Wondering is it worth it to bring Odell Beckham in and once you get that label. It's really really tough to shake. Yes that's a hundred percent accurate right and that will take a quick break. Yeah no you keep doing this. My Mustang was Oh dell is I I think he's in a situation with a quarterback who loves to speak his mind in Baker Mayfield and they think that causes an issue when Ode L. was in New York his issue with the media the way the media covered him the way. The media made everything about Odell Beckham Junior front page news. But you never really heard teammates or anyone really say anything about the situation or about what's going on You know any of the issues with off the field stuff with the weird pizza box video with the boat trip with appeared on field antics. That would go back and forth You never you never heard teammates say things and then there's this weird situation this this week with the sports hernia stuff from Baker and Baker is a guy that wears his emotions on his sleeve. And just Kinda says what comes to him in in a Lotta situations and especially like if you look at how he reacted to the myles Garrett thing and Kudos to the way for the way he handled that that post game press you know own field. Press conference was handled very well. This situation whatever. It is not handled. Great I I don't think I don't think you should be commenting about other players injuries. And I don't know how that's GonNa go over with a guy like Odell Beckham and if the rumors are true that he's telling other teams to come save him like earl. Thomas did with the cowboys this last year. Two years ago right before he broke his eric. Berry was it's it's okay That's that's weird weird thing to do but at that point if you are the browns and you think that you are going to get better like you're saying that you're going to consistently assistant get better. This is clearly a guy who is all about his own success. He's about the Odell Beckham Junior show. It's not about the team it's about what I can do about You know look at me here. Here's my best. Plays out here doing all the individual one handed catches. All you know all that crazy stuff and it's not about winning it's about building that Oh. BJ brand versus that. And if you're the browns you almost would look to part ways and add assets little hanky model for you get get some assets for him. Whatever you can get and move on? You have a good enough team. You can upgrade greater wide receiver. You're clearly covered at running back. You don't have to worry about that for a long time. Baker is obviously your guy that got much better as the season's gone on in your defense with they ever let Myles Garrett back on the field which I assume will happen next year. I mean that's that's sure it up. I just don't see see. I don't see a negative for Cleveland. If they if they let him go no matter how many catches he has will the negative. Is You lose one of the preeminent playmakers in all of professional football a guy who can change the course of the game with one catch and one cut guy who opposing defenses have to who consistently plan against and that opens up things for everyone else if this is look. I think the sports hernia thing is weird because one Odell L. doesn't strike me as a guy who suffers in silence and if he's been dealing with this all year than I think we would have heard about it before I think that excuse or AH justification would have come out prior to this so do I think he's hurt. I think he's heard a little. Do I think it's a sports hernia. I don't know about that but if that's true if it is a sports hernia then he's just going to get better and better like did they mishandled the situation. Sure I don't see any negative at all to Baker Mayfield coming out sticking up for his guy saying look. This wasn't handled correctly the training staff let us down. Is it the the best thing to say for the morale of the the front office. No it's not but it's only going to endear him to Odell Beckham because he's they're supporting and Becca meazza houses back. I'm not worried about that I just I just don't see any reason. Were moving on from Beckham is something that would be the browns best interests and you talked about getting whatever you can get for him. Let's talk about depreciated value. How much value has Odell Beckham junior lost since since last year when Cleveland traded effectively a first round pick in Djibril peppers a actual first round pick in the third round? Pick it to get him. What is what? What is Beckham worth now? I mean I still think you could get a first round pick from someone you may not get to but I think that there are more than enough teams. That would be willing to give to give that up. They just. You're right. Beckham does have talent. That talent has racked up. What two touchdowns this year? Two Games over one hundred yards. I mean we're talking you know. Let's let's look at some names that have more. TV's than Oj that you can't play that game. Why can't then we play that Game Taylor? Gabriel alshon Jeffery alshon Jeffery superstar. Oh is he. He's a big Nelson. Aguilar has more touchdowns was this year. That Beckham Junior Nelson Aguilar is a game-breaker who who who changed completely. When he was allowed to go back to his natural position of the slot and I would argue? Well worth the first round pick. The Eagles used on him. I'm sure Miles Boykin. I don't even know who that is. He has plans mild number of touchdown. Big Athletic wide receiver from Notre Dame. Sure sure John. Ross General Score Two touchdowns in the first week of the season and he's still has more touchdowns than and then he missed like nine games and he still has has more touchdowns than Odell Beckham. So as for as talented as he is and has dynamic is years and the and the preeminent playmaker as you described he he hasn't done it in Cleveland and I know that he gets the most focus because he's there number one wide receiver but number. One guy still put up touchdowns it still happens. Happens guys get double covered guys. Get guys get you know mashed up with the best corner every single week. You're talking about the guys who lead the League in that touchdown down stat guys like Kenny Golladay. WHO had third string quarterbacks throwing to Chris Godwin who has what's his name James? He wins rowing him him. He's got a mirror image of twenty five year old of course of course Allen Robinson who's up towards the top of the list who has basically you know the rookie quarterback and Mitch trubisky throwing to him. I mean even. Aj Brown rookies rookies to have more TD's Cole Beasley for that awful bills. Offense has more touchdown catches dairy sorry Darius late in the two on on Monday night. He had more touchdowns or the same number of touchdowns on Monday night against the eagles terrible secondary then. Ob Jay has all year easy exact same number number. You're drunk you're you're raving. I don't think so. I think I think the thing is. I think the thing is with with Odell Beckham. Is We have this portrayal of how good he is. Because of a one handed weird lay back touchdown catch that happened in his rookie year. And it's been portrayed as he is some ultimate superstar top tier receiver he's fouled it up sure with some very very very good performances differences. Yes now that he's been found out but now that he has been figured out he has been slowdown in these departments. You can say figured out when what are you talking about. Because ninety one catches ninety six catches one hundred and one catches in two thousand seventeen was the year he got hurt. Still had twenty five catches in four games on page one hundred two thousand.

The War of Art (and Business)

"As a writer which I am one of the first things that you realize so when you sit down to the blank page there's some kind of a force there that's kind of a repelling force trying to make you go have a drink or do something do anything else take the day off whatever and I always thought it was unique to meal on I thought well let me it must be the only one feeling this thing but when I wrote the war of art I gave a name to and I call that resistance with a capital are because that's what it took feels like to me it's like it's a resisting this forces invisible forces assisting my efforts to put something down on the page and two I thought when I wrote the war of art that it would be a book only for writers there's only riders would be interested yeah and I was kind of amazed to discover that other creative people actors photographers film people stuff like that and then was really interesting we realize that entre immerse which I had never even thought of but it does make sense anytime you try to move from a lower level to a higher level in your in on the soul level of your life in other words if you're if you're an artist you're trying to go from a blank canvas to a painting to something that's there this force of resistance appears to stop you or to try to stop you and it seems to me that many many many millions of people have been needed by this and didn't even know that it existed didn't even have a name took that may be part of the sinister part of it is that you can go your entire life without even realizing this exists absolute I certainly never knew what resistance kind of kicked my butt for like about seven years I would say of you know kind of a dark I'd journey where before I sort of realized there is this force that nobody told me in school nobody taught me about anywhere and I better learn to get a handle on us if I'm ever going to be able to do my work how do people experience resistance just data day okay it's a great question it's the voice in your head and the voice in your head says something like you're a bomb your loser if you're let's say you're going to write a book it says what did you get the idea that you could write this book this idea hasn't been done a thousand times you're never gonNa do it already heard this voice before choice right but it's a voice of discouragement and stuff like that it's a fear is it's constant thing you know you're you're gonNA fail you're going to embarrass yourself what where do you come off thinking you can pull this thing off the trick about resistance is that when you hear this voice in your head you think it's your own thoughts you think it's your own objective thoughts like your objectively analyzing your own capacities but it's not your objective it's it's resistance it's this this force that exists and I can tell you from all the feedback I've gotten the voice of resistance is the same in everybody's Ed except that it so diabolical that it can tailor itself to use specifically it'll tell you you're too fat to have a show don t odell or you know or you're too old or your to uglier your to this now what would a college you can't start that exactly exactly that's fascinating I think to your point I can think back points in my own life where I will experience what you're talking about but a look at it and I'll call it me being real realistic or me being rationed tackling in other words you're believing this voice in your head that it's you it's your thoughts you know they say I'm sorry to interrupt l. go for it they say you know in meditation I'm not a big meditators but from what I've read that you sit there and you're trying to empty your mind thoughts and these thoughts keep coming in they're usually just distracting dumb thoughts and you think they're your thoughts but in fact as a meditation teacher teach you they're just kind of generic chatter and you just really want to just let them kind of go and pass right through clouds splashing across the sky and it's the same with that voice that you heard in your head and so it can take many forms I know you already mentioned it it seems like it can take the form of something material physical you're eating something that you're drinking maybe not going to them it can be a voice it takes many forms is that takes many forms but usually it's add voice in your head or that feeling of fear in your belly you know I guess for entrepreneurs if you're thinking of starting a business or taking business to the next level that's another case of kind of advancing on the soul level going from a lower level to a higher level and resist since is going to kick in and that voice will stay to you you know what do you dream that you're going to pull this off you know you great at this level maybe you can't take it to the next level etc era and so do you believe that at any given point in their life everyone has experienced whether consciously or unconsciously everyone has -perienced what it's like to be trapped by resistance I think so I mean obviously can't look at it everybody's brain but I certainly got a million times a feedback from I'm from people in it's always the same voice in always the same phenomenon what did that look like for you can you take us to the point in your life where you may be crossed over for I'm being unconsciously to consciously aware that you're being trapped by this thing well for me it was the first novel that I ever tried to write as a young guy I worked for about two years on it was like ninety nine point nine percent of the way through and this some dead the devil or whatever I just blew it up blew it up and blew up my entire you know I was married at blew up my marriage bumper-to-bumper sabotage yes that's exactly the word fact resistance is self the cash and that sort of sent me off on kind of a downward spiral that carried me to a lot of places I didn't want to go and finally I should sort of just sort of realized that there there was this force and that it had taken me by surprise I wasn't ready for it if I had known that was coming it would have been a different story and I sort of said I've I've just got it like an alcoholic somebody realizing that they have a problem with alcohol where you sort of admit to themselves I've got a problem this is more than I can handle that sort of was my realization that and I thought it was unique to me at that time I didn't realize that it was universal but but it is so universal affects anyone trying to do something meaningful what what is it keeping us from it's almost like you grab it as this thing that has this motive and then you say like we're all engaged in this war that we're fighting so what are we fighting four that the enemy or the resist census keeping us from I'm a believer that we all come into this life with a calling with work that we have to do it might be artistic work or it might be entrepreneurial work it might be something might be raising children were might be something you know helping people in in one way or another but we do have our work that we should be doing and resistances entire job in my opinion is to stop us from doing our work that voice that it says you're not worthy you're not good enough that's just trying to stop us or another example friend of Mine Nick Murray is an advisor to financial Oh planners and apparently the big thing that you do in the financial planning world and I'm sure this is true in a lot of entrepreneur things is cold calling prospecting yeah and brings up enormous resistance apparently you know to make that horrible cold call or honest to sell anything thing yeah always brings up a little bit of fear in San so that force is the force of resistance in Knicks terms trying to advise financial planners he believes that he's really saving people's lives financially kind of like Dave Ramsey and the whole system out here of trying to get people to act rationally in terms of money in terms of their planning at so in other words it's a positive goal it's a movement from a lower level to a higher level and instance comes in making those cold calls doing those other sort of entrepreneurial steps how did you define what you're calling was is that it was keeping you from and then I'd love for you to share with us what what is your calling what is your work to do Steiner writer and so you know that blank page there is resistance personified and of course for writers were for artists manifested many many other ways it's still feel that way when you see a blind never gets any easier everything for fifty years never the only way it gets easier is that you know you've defeated it in the past but it never gets any easier fact it gets a little more diabolical because I almost can personify resistance it seems it's it's an intelligent force that can adapt and be creative and change shapes and shift shapes so yeah it doesn't get easier no

Did Raven choke OBJ?

"That are you Cleveland played Baltimore on Sunday and to be an NFL dot com. the Cleveland coach pretty kitchens he was fuming about what he saw in the game apparently Marlon Humphrey he thought Marlon Humphrey was choking Odell Beckham junior and so he said I'm going to talk to the league about this this is. rounds at the head coach for the kitchen right so on Tuesday today the ravens website posted a story titled Marlon Humphrey didn't choke Odell Beckham junior which included a video of it and then Freddie kitchens in this press conference was asked about the story which made him even more mad and I thought ray that's probably. Marc vandermeer DO if we wrote a story that made the opposing coach really angry any any other questions about it. I think he already played that could have been even the owner saying I want their store the what ifs well the ravens website they they push the when and I mean they don't they don't just push the envelope they like rip it open so they've they've done some stuff in the past that I don't think a lot of teams do yeah liberties I think with ray rice steaks it was the head of their PR department the P. R. director after the ray rice step wrote an entire editorial about. ray rice and what a great guy he was and I've worked with him any basically vouch for him and I thought you you know you might wanna wait until all the facts are out there because a there's a video and be this is gonna be a really bad look on you if if you turn the other way which it did but you know he just he just put himself for the pier to form do that is it is a little strange it wasn't a writer but as far as team well that was the ravens of the most out there of all of them but the title marlin I mean I'm the owner of the cliques they got from that.

"E._S._p._N.. Radio so this is not terribly surprising tweeter writes in as we're talking about Odell Beckham and the antics and why it is that he's so polarizing thing <hes> this tweeter writes in he is polarizing because his talents outweigh his character and attitude we are waiting for oh B._J.. To mature and be great but he's not and might not keys it all right. Let me take these one at a time. He is polarizing because his talents outweigh his character and attitude his talents outweight everybody's character and his talents best receiver. You've ever seen maybe his talents out the greatest cats you've ever seen his talents are bigger sir then your character and your attitude he's better at talent than you are at character and attitude. You can say that for almost any player in the N._F._l.. Outside of maybe like someone's super philanthropic like like J._J.. Watt which is crazy. You can make that argument. Tom Brady same thing talent outweighs character eh Rogers this speaks to their talent not to their character. That's that's the tricky one with all of this but it keeps happening with the receivers. It's always the diva receivers because they're not team players because because they're looking at me because of it because their job hurts touchdowns hard and sometimes they're fun to celebrate yeah but J._J.. Watt is taking pictures with MOMS before the game and kids and Odell Beckham Junior's fighting field goal difference between those this guy listen. What's the difference between those two? I'm not there shouldn't be a different. I'm just explaining to you why that conversation that we're having I listen J._J.. Taking a picture with my kid before the game or does not have to tell you. Is there a people that occupy sort of Phantom of both players because I I have to admit I bought Odell Beckham Junior's shoes and today I just bought J._J.. Watch shoes I. I like them. Both and I don't understand why you did it on the poll Chris. Can you buy both Odell Beckham. Come shoes and J._J.. Watch shoes. I don't think you can you got the AIDS when when people talk about Odell Beckham Junior's character issue. What are they referring to because you know in the modern N._F._l.? When you have players being arrested for domestic abuse it strikes me that if your character flaw is just ego or diva nece? That's really not a character but you know what's funny about that though as you say that like this this speaks to the tyreek hill thing and everything else if if I put in front in front of fans which one of these two things upset you more in terms of guys character they're gonNa go diva receiver because the domestic abusers don't get the kind of polarizing the diva receivers do which is patently. It's unbelievable unbelievable that that's even allowed to assist in sports. The idea of what it is that you're saying it's literally unbelievable and the problem is with you people viewing it not him. The problem ain't him like maybe he's immature unprofessional unprofessional look at me all the things that he had to be but that dude's a hard worker. Nobody nobody disputes that and that's what the job is to do the hard work and produce and also as an added bonus don't get arrested or suspended like tyreek he kill <hes> don't do the things that are problematic he hasn't done what is what is the greatest. Let's think about this for a second but think about this for just a second all right. What is the greatest actual controversy on Odell Beckham resume okay when you describe him as someone who's personality makes you hate him whose antics make you not trust him? What is his single biggest crime because I'm here to argue that you guys care about whatever you think? His crimes are more more than you do about actual bleeping crimes I would say maybe that that video that <hes> where he was in Spain or perhaps the picture before the the playoff game there was like <hes> something that no one could prove this happened not oh he was the most unpopular person in the sport and when you and he'd always say to people wear my d you is what am I like. Where where do you see my crimes at and we drew drew? We drew that dude. We drove that dude to reports of suicide ambulance rides to the hospital..

"Writer just stop by if you tuned in <hes> interesting interesting scuff he's got a G.. Q. Magazine article on Odell Beckham which as I said I think the fascinating thing about Odell Beckham and Cleveland the Jarvis Landry who is a pro bowler who's great who's ninety catches a year and if you read the article there's a lot of aspirational goals for Odell Beckham. I don't think he can reach him at least a production standpoint because he's got great of a player next to if you have if you have a pro bowl wide receiver who catches ninety balls a year next to you and the best tight end and great running back. It's going to be hard to reach those production goals. I think that's going to be a challenge for Baker. Mayfield baby can pull it off. He's inaccurate throwing throwing the football but anyway I wanNA thank Marc Anthony Green who wasn't scheduled but said Yell Oh Stan stop by and talk and it was great joy Taylor joining me every Monday. We do something you know what it's called joy commas right. We're calm was wrong plenty of both so here we go to Monday plenty of both this week here we go where Colin was right Zeki. L. Elliott is in the news again this morning. Quote making plans to leave the country amid his contract holdout listen. I like my running back to be allusive not this elusive. He's out of the country. I'll say it again. I've always questioned judgment. Not Talent not love for football. Why is this story getting out? It's right before training camp. It looks like it was time to be right before training camp to be very disrupted for a football team that has loaded with talent but into division with Philadelphia cannot be distracted. This is my question about Zeke his judgment clearly they wanted this story out there right before camp holding out with two years left in his contract Iraq said it last week and I'll say it again despite his talent I think you can get a hall picks and some good players for him. I would move him. I know it sounds counterintuitive to move. The Best Player has position but it happens all the time in football. This is not the N._B._A.. You in a lot of games with a be running back. If you have the cowboys line if yeah the cowboys defense that's right go where Colin was raw. Manny Pacquiao not only beat key Thurman. He completely trolled control the fight if you would've told me Manny Pacquiao was going to knock out Thurman in the first round I would bet a million dollars Eddie dead <hes> listen styles make fights. Manny style was a nightmare for Thurman and you could tell about halfway through the first round Thurman didn't move his feet at least didn't plan on it for the first three rounds as many dominated the first three to four round scoring effectively going right after him listen Thurman at a good seventh-round around and did win a few rounds of fight war on he landed some punches to pack Yao but as old as manny looked against mayweather. He looked like the youngest four year old boxer in the history of the sport Thurman Sort of lethargic plotting hunting style worked perfectly for the volume puncher and score. Manny Pacquiao won the fight convincing. I don't know I have no idea how how one judge had Keith Olbermann winning split decision. I thought Manny One by four rounds where Colin was right Amazon series all or nothing cameras around Cam Newton all last year and the Carolina Panthers Oh lord he is the opposite of Tom Brady. Tom Brady is obsessed with football in this series. I don't think I ever saw him talking about football. He's got a music guru. Tom's got a Kale Pajamas. Guru whereas Brady is totally consumed zoom with football and it's hard to even find frames of Tom Versus time that aren't about football. It was hard to find moments when cam wasn't talking about music had a cigar in his mouth. Eating junk food is far as committed committed to the sport. Tom Is Cam. It's hard to get around it. "I'm just GONNA hunt you down and manny's flying around getting angles and I think after Thurman knocked him down or after many knock down through is like the dodd prepare for that kind of fighter I mean you have to respect the the experience that has that was. That was the biggest thing it also looked like there was nothing that Thurman was throwing pack Yo that he was really hurting him. Seventh-round he landed a couple. Oh good right other than that but there was no point where I felt like this is the spite of starting to turn but great fantastic <hes> join the news well. That's the news and thanks for stopping by heard Mark Anthony Green had previously we interviewed Lebron James He sat down with a guy that I think is fascinating. Odell Beckham Junior and let's bring him on the show now because I think the interview gives you all sorts of insight to Odell Beckham is so mark Anthony Green. It's nice to meet you so so about it was in the winter six months ago. Odell Beckham calls me on facetime okay. We talked for thirty minutes okay. You guys are good friends no but we talked okay I. I'll give you some background so I talked about something on the air and I had said I don't remember Odell Beckham being a problem at L._S._U.. or his first year in New York but I said it's quite possible that he is a person because I can relate to this that doesn't do well with chaos and the giants have become increasingly chaotic and that may be a poor environment for him like it is for me. I've gone to therapy on this. I don't like chaotic situations stability. He called me and goes man. You nailed it right. He goes the last three years. I don't know what what I'm getting week to week so we have fascinating. He did most of the talking but he was fascinated. Now we've since fallen out. I said something he didn't like but let's talk about Odell the person before we go mark to Odell all player. Do you think he's do you think he's a happy in converse. You're dealing with a happy athlete. I mean I asked him I said are you happy in and he said yeah so I gotta gotTa take his word on that. I think my observation of him is that in L._A.. With his friends with his family with dogs he loves his dogs <hes> he's super happy he was super happy in because he's in his own environment in you know there was some distance from <hes> so much scrutiny and it was a little distance from you know <hes> playing the game but he also I think really loves playing the game football in ideal world he would play the game and be able to play the game his way with who he wants the play with and I think that Cleveland is close than ideal situation for okay so you say you think in his world he just like to play football. See this is where I would push back. I think he also liked instagram. Followers and there's nothing wrong with yeah yeah yeah I think I think that comes is with the likes. I said this remember before facebook. There was a company called my space. Okay K. mice year me yellow than me so I just necessary but my space was a precursor to facebook my my space as wasn't we weren't quite ready for my space. Facebook took the best of it right tweaked it and made a Titan Odell Beckham in my lifetime is the first N._B._A.. Player in the N._F._l.. And I'm not quite sure the League is pivoting. This is my takeaway. Let my space that is being the first N._B._A.. Player in the N._F._l.. That is what we would call. A Bar that is that is good. Sentence is great. I agree with you the thing I would. Let's say is that if you love the N._F._l.. In needs more N._B._A.. Players or it's going to end up like the M._l._b.. Which is old stagnant? Unique personalities is entertainment and I think people like Odell Beckham junior though they are rare..

"The funny thing about the giants. There's clearly no plan because the plan of taking the plan of taking saquon Barkley number two doesn't match up with the plane of trading. Odell Beckham those two divergent plans saquon Berkeley, number two is a guy who take. Hey, we're close we need this transcendent running back to set things up in the offense, but trading Odell Beckham. Now, you have saquon when are they going to be in the playoffs? Not in the next three to four years. So now you're wasting his best years on a rookie contract for offense. That's complete dodge shit. Yeah. It makes those sevices what? Maybe should we do some more poetry Shumshere? Since we're talking about Gettleman decided, no, this this, isn't this isn't. I not that kind of music. Actually. Yeah. We can do we can do Olympic to that music. Okay. I went with the Limerick because he seems like a fucking clown as leprechaun. There. Once was a GM named Gettleman. He said no players bigger than the plan. Little did. We know the plan would show. That clearly he had no idea. What the fuck? He was doing man. Wow. Beautiful participating in the past. What is he doing has feel to have you any of the second best running back in New York? Now when does the NFL investigate to blockbuster trip thousand nicely? I. Ignored it. I'm sorry say again, you guys have the second best running back in New York. Well, now that they've freed now that the giants have freed up five million encapsulates they're free to go after Tevin Coleman..

"Like he having been around him. He knows a whole lot more than he tells you that or then that he broadcasts. Right. Whereas he like he breaks who's playing and who's not playing. You know, and he just he just knows stuff, and he has these relationship with guys. And so when when when I read in his mailbag his prediction, somebody asked him for a bold prediction, and he just throws out there. Hey, Odell Abed. Odell Beckham junior's is traded. This is what I had teach husband's outta on my radio show, or is it on this show. I can't remember what shows on my show. And and this was TJ Jonah essentially said what I was thinking take a listen. Every man if say if Jay is putting that out there. They'll Beckham is as good as gone. That's it's like it's about like when e f Hutton talks people. Listen when Jay Glazer says, hey, you know, both prediction. Odell Beckham junior is going to be traded. I'm like, I'm like TJ Schmidt zodda. What did you think of that bold prediction? Yeah. I'm I'm with both U N TJ in the sense. That Jake is not going to throw something out there that he's not has does not have deeply deeply sourced. So I'm of two minds this. So I do think that again if Jay Glazer says, it's it's might happen. Then we need to bear. Seriously. Listen who football perspective from cap perspective makes no sense. You're not gonna get a receiver is good go to Beckham even hard to find that in free agency. If even obviously really hard to find that in the draft McCaffrey spectrum they would lose money goes thirty five million dollars in debt cap. I think that they would have to have a sixty million dollar cap it next year if they if they traded him and so on the other hand this is franchise that drafted running back second overall last year. It's an old school franchise. I don't think I think there's probably twenty five or twenty six franchises that will look at this and say, this doesn't make sense for us. But I think the giants I think they've got him on really cares about chemistry. I I'm I. Keep Odell I'm Provo Dell. I think that a lot of quote, unquote, problems that exist there are are bit overblown..

"In win given a great opportunity to compete at a high level. And when I look at Odell Beckham, I look at a young man that we give a hard. We we judge him off of everything that we've seen in the past. But we we overlook all the good in the pros about him this year. Even even when we look at that tweet, we say is it a cryptic tweet. He's just saying my mouth is shut within a very happy fate in the happy face. He could be happy. What's wrong with that? Come on look. We're not we're not know this year g one. Either coming coming into this year old. They'll check him was not under contract they signed onto or he was under contract. He wanted a new deal gotta new deal big contract. And everybody's like don't pay. Why would you pay him? He brings all this other stuff did Odell do we have any issue with this year? No did the giants have any issue with Odell Beckham Wayne. No that wouldn't have bad. I'm which there was nothing wrong with that. My point is we pick him we pry at little things to make them bigger than what they are. The fact of the matter is odeal Beckham is one of the best receivers in all the football when healthy. And when when having a quarterback that can get him the football sorry to hurt you and make you cry and tear up a little bit Jamie about ally. But that's the problem in New York when I look at Odell Beckham his his stats last year, yet seventy seven receptions as a wide receiver being that affective. You're running back had ninety one saquon Barkley love everything about saquon Barkley. But it tells me that ally manning is not pushing the ball down the field. He is going to dinkum Deng. He's going to go check down. I so you can't even utilize the asset that you really have in an old Dell Beckham, where's he most effective down? The field. Putting pressure on the secondary in deep deep thirds ally. Many doesn't thrive in that area. That's not his level of expertise. He wants a deacon look at the giants. They were fourth in the National Football League in yards after the catch with twenty one eight twenty one hundred in eight yards after the catch. These are all yards mind. You that goes to the quarterback statistics yards? That means when you throw me the ball, whether it'd be two yards ten or fifteen and I get an extra thirty forty. I credit that to you. That's my work in. And so when I'm looking at what what the giants have done. They can they continue to mask how bad ally. Manning really is. Because of how great they are with the ball after getting it in their possession in saquon Barkley has a lot to do with that sterling shepherd has a lot to do with that and odeal Beckham more than probably any has even more to do with that. Now, Greg I I'm an old dill Beckham. I like him as a receiver. I enjoy watching him. He's one of the best. But the argument you're making if that's the case ally hasn't changed. He shouldn't have signed the deal in new has to. No, no, I'm not talking about. I don't know. I'm talking about Dell. If he liked can't do those things and hasn't changed over since he signed that contract. That was already going on is what I'm saying to you is he shouldn't have signed on with ally. Knowing that he's going to be the quarterback. He should ask the giants to move him. Because he can't use his town come on. Now. Own health. If either. If all goes out, right and says, no, no, I'm not signing until you move ally. Manning. What would we be talking about this is selfish? I don't want to sign here because the offense and what you do. Here doesn't enhance my talent. He's you care knowing that after the fact, Greg it would be different. If ally was saying, here's Joan go. Yes. You can't use. No you and use that Tom Brady thinks don't fall over the field plays Tom Brady. Super now, you wanna tell me that he lie because he thinks dunk you shouldn't count the yard for him. Come on. Now that ain't right. And I'm I'm on Odell Beckham junior side. I don't have a problem. He's wired different. I don't wanna choir..

"And I, it's exhausting for for for sixteen weeks to play to bring you a game against all these different opponents everywhere. What's interesting though, about your comment you just made Dan about them being a little bit top heavy. You know what's funny about that as as you watch the preseason unfolding as teams continue to sit regular starters, holy is pretty top heavy quite honestly, because when you're when you're premium position players are in there, it's funny how you're looking at your hearing guys, like Jason Garrett say, well, we kind of knew it was going to be tough sledding when we looked at them playing their ones against our backups. I mean, people are getting their rear ends just wiped all over the floor when they don't have their top in players in there. So look, the giants are in the same boat as everyone else did. You are going to need their horses in order to have a shot and if they have them, they have a shop. Do you think the NFC is the NFC is down for mummy. All four division. Four divisions are strong. They are. We will go back to a point Dan that you made earlier about the role potentially that new, hey, coach, Pat Shurmur played in getting this deal done because. I think it's one, but right now more reaction from Twitter as you might imagine, we're gets out a, hey, man. You might now would never be your cousin on your great uncle Ray Ray side. The family reunion in os three can I have some money? Oh, yet congrats on the new deal l. joke we laugh. That's exactly the type of thing. These guys couldn't hear Odell Beckham junior high on the list of fantasy football teams everywhere. How about this golden Tate fake fainted when he heard about Obama comes new contracts that he hasn't been thinking about his deal said he has an idea of salary numbers. He would like, but chose not to share might be a wise decision again. Very huge, very huge. Listen, I a big day for Odell Beckham junior and really, quite honestly for the New York Giants. A five year extension. He had one more year remaining on his current deal Dan. So that means he's locked up there for the next six years. You mentioned something earlier that I thought was interesting in that is, you know, we saw a tone change if he will, or shift in the way the team player. In this case, we're reacting to one another and interacting with one another and you credited impart new head coach, Pat Shurmur. Why is that? Well, again, talking to people inside that building, we've been told multiple times that Pat Shurmur just sort of established the kind of relationship with Odell Beckham junior early, and then throughout the summer where the stuff was saying, made sense in a way that that appeal to Odell Beckham the, oh, it's one thing for a team to say, we want you in camp. We want you in mini camp. We want you, but it's another thing to explain why. And Pat Shurmur apparently struck the right tone with Odell Beckham junior the point where Odell got on. Board with the program and thought it was the best thing for him and you've seen there's been some touchy public issues throughout the off season where there was a, you know, somebody would say he was cleared and then but wasn't practicing and then and then you saw Pat Shurmur kind of finesse that maybe in a press conference. What however, it worked team and player have been on the same page about what he would and wouldn't be doing while this was worked on and worked out. And obviously the end result has been extremely positive for both sides. What we've seen these situations deteriorate and digress elsewhere in the league pretty quickly because it's an emotional topic. It's, you know, it's money, it's it's what you're worth. That's respect..

"Well, first of all, there were multiple iterations of his deal that took place back and forth between both sides before they even arrived at the numbers that they are today. But credit first and foremost Odell Beckham junior for doing everything he needed to do in order to help in assisting getting this deal done. Obviously, his agent zeaxanthin is a bit on the phone. Go sheeting up through this morning with tweaks that were going on through yesterday to this deal. And then obviously the giant in doing their part to a sex him as the talent that he is in the National Football League. So we know that Odell Beckham junior is getting a five-year extension that it worth ninety five million dollars backs to base value is ninety million dollars. He's getting sixty five million total guaranteed sixty million of that pay over the first year. So that needs and simpler MAC that he's averaging twenty million of that in the first years that he is. Definitely getting. And then he also has five million dollars in expensive in that deal is well, the actual average of the new portion of view, which is a five year extension is eighteen million, but the average over the total length of the deal, including the original year that he had, which was the option year this year puts it at just over sixteen. So as you know, Wendy in a contract negotiation, both sides are looking for something to hang their hats on. So for the giant, they get the figure over the total value just over sixteen, which is about four or five hundred thousand more than what Sammy Watkins is currently getting on his sixteen forty, eight million dollar deal that averages out at sixteen and then for Odell he gets the hang his hat on the fact that he is averaging twenty million dollars in the first three years of that deal, Sheena. Thank you. And having said that, then I would ask you this, but it seems you answered it some in some ways. Do you get the sense that both the player and the team then are pleased with this deal? And certainly happy to have. It done before we start a new season. Well, I'm just going to refer you back to all that a crazy freaky lake dancing going on in the locker room, barely jeopardy out right now. I think that's a funky lag, whatever you wanna call it. I think that's your answer right there. So he is very happy Odell from the beginning was looking to try to achieve that twenty sixty figure. They were able to get that at the last minute over the last couple of days here with the beginning of that of that deal. So he definitely gets that. So yes, answer your question. I think there is a celebration going on over East Rutherford, New jersey right now. That's certainly understandable and certainly warranted. Back to NFL live as we continue to follow breaking news, the New York Giants and Odal Beckham junior have agreed on an extension, a five year extension worth ninety five million dollars max. Adam Schefter joins us now and Adam. We heard Josefina talk. Take us through the numbers. I'll ask you simply kind of what happened and he's last few days to, again, get this deal finalized. Well, Wendy, look, the regular season is upon us in odeal. Beckons junior has not laid in the preseason at all yet, and I don't think that's accidental. There was no way that he could step onto a football field in risking injury, knowing the riches that awaited him, he was determined to get this deal done before he plays football. Again, we've seen all the players simply not report the training camp. Khalil Mack is not in Oakland. Aaron, Donald is not in Los Angeles. Earl, Thomas is not in Seattle. They have approached their search for a new deal in a different way. Odell Beckham junior went into camp and was. Participating day one. What did not wanna put himself out there for a new deal..

"Who you just gave nineteen and a half million or nine hundred million per year in sixty five million look the whole NFL. Every position outside a quarterback is wanting to reset the market for their positions. It is kind of something that is sweeping across the NFL. He's read, look what he did to the top of the wide receiver market. Now, with these service numbers, he's blown the average out of the water in terms of Antonio Brown, and he blew Mike Evans away on almost securing ten million dollars more in guaranteed in full, getting total guarantees than when Mike Evans got that's resetting the top of the market. That's exactly what he wanted to do. And that's what he got. And that's, I mean, again, we'll see the final numbers. We're just talking about what assuming, right? I mean, Joe scenes got good sources. We know reason, but my my point is when you remember what Julio Jones was upset about a month ago, which was a two year old deal. It was already obsolete with three years left on it. That's that's a position Odell Beckham wanted to avoid being right. You don't wanna next year over sudden guys getting deals and they're going past yours. And now yours looks obsolete. So when these numbers. Come in. You know, it looks like he'll hip accomplished. And this is just, I think going to kick off something else that will see kind of come down the road here we're talking about Aaron, Donald contract. It's going to be another one of those where you're is kind of click a cartoon character and pop out of your head and go blowing. It have to have any hope of getting it. Odio Beckham JR. I this way I give him credit. He he played the game mass masterfully the fact that he reported he did everything of to a certain point, not really putting Sylvan like harm's way out there. I think just that goodwill because he could have been like, you know what? I'm not coming. I'm not reporting. I'm, you know, I, I want my money. I before I step foot, you know, in the off season and all that type of no. He said, you know what? I'm a report. I want to try to do everything that the organization has asked of me. And I think because of that and Lewis you you, you point out the relationship that's part of building a relationship that this whole deal came to fruition. Yeah. Any ear to all those who were critical of him making those choices making the decision to be there for for optional workouts. All of that. I would say this, I understand the risk of injury, and there might be some warranted criticism there, but there's more ways to get a deal done. Than there's more ways than one. And in his case, he chose to sort of fall in step, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that only because it got him where he wanted to go as well, which is signing a pretty big deal. Here's Odell Beckham junior dancing recently in the locker room, perhaps beat new. This deal was I want to. It's like that. I mean, there is no reason to stop moving at this point ever a huge new deal. If you're just joining us a five year, ninety five million dollar deal sixty five million of which is said to be guaranteed for injury, guarantee trae forty, one million fully guaranteed its size. So he made forty one million dollars for sure. Today, melting. Dish in to what he was already guaranteed for this year, which is a nice chunk of change as well saying, you know how crazy it, you know how crazy that is. It just seems Anderson will tell us just how crazy it is. Of course, he broke the story to see a huge pay day for Adele, Beckham junior, a big win for the giants as well. How did this finally get across the finish line..

"For this because they're the ones that are constantly asking him these questions that is set he said i'm tired of answering questions about adele's behavior it sounds like he's tired of being asked the questions and that's leading to being tired of odell yeah i do i think some of the just the overall attention the superstar magnitude that just surround odell beckham junior i'm sure it does land the owners listen i understand the maratha molly and what they want you understand them more than most i would think so yeah and there are traditional irish catholic family so then why can't they see that this guy is generational i i need to explain this before you answer that question you said that jerry rice comment and people were like oh he's not that good i'm still shocked when people don't think oh dell's the best receiver in the nfl i wanna read some things to cement why we feel that odell is the best wide receiver in the nfl we might have to make that amendment by the way number one he's the fastest wide receiver in nfl history to three hundred catches he's the only player in nfl history with two hundred catches in his first thirty games he's the first player in fifty one years with thirty receiving touchdowns in his first thirty five games he's in the last fifty three years he has more receiving yards through his first thirty five games than anyone has had in their first forty games he's the only receiver with three thousand receiving yards or more in his first thirty games the pace that he is going at is jerry rice these statistics and his saying what sim said is not hyperbole that's how good odle is and if you trade him because you don't like that he's becoming too much of a distraction you need to know what you're giving up this is not a top five top ten this is a top two when he's not too and he's on one in its own dell right i listen i'm glad you brought up those stats because i try to say that all the time to just go look up the stats i mean this is the guy that's breaking records while it is it's wild and i'll even further you know listen jerry rice he's the man but i'm just telling you jerry rice i was alive i watched area right that's all play against.

"Latest incident is i think you know what we expect of him and now it's up to him so nickel start with you the giants really consider trading odell beckham junior and let's just say it's not what john said but he did say now no one is on it is a departure from a lot of things he said she opened up the possibility not only of them trading him but he is now gone back on what he had said earlier which was we know dell's going to get a new contract we wanna give del new contract now he seems open to the idea of not giving odell new contract which i think is one of the reasons he's open to the idea possibly of moving dell because i don't know how happy odell beckham junior's going to be if you ask him to play out the fifth year of his rookie deal when he is dry despite missing season greatly exceeded any possible expectations for production in his rookie deal so the question is should they be open to trading bill yes i personally he's might be my favorite player in football i would be open to trading dell but if i trade odell beckham i have to be honest about who i am what i'm doing what my future holds i have to also field calls on ally manning and i have to assuredly take a quarterback with the first pick if you're trading your best player who is still young who is far and away your most talented player on your offense and offense that the only reason as has had any type of life the last four years last year didn't have life he wasn't there is because of him will then you are in addition to trading jp you are tearing this thing down in rebuilding a new which may be is the right move so what i be opened a trading del yeah i would listen to calls you wanna give me a first and third for odell beckham all listen to that i will listen to i will listen to those offers but if i am going to do it.
