"53, Alexandria officials are taking a look at revamping the duke street corridor. Among the proposals they're considering is one that would add dedicated bus lanes, but reaction from residents to that is decidedly mixed. Some think the proposal for bus rapid transit on duke street. It is totally awesome. But others warned that the possible addition of bus lanes would come at their expense because the lanes could in turn impact the frontage streets that run parallel to duke street. Please don't take away our service roads. I and my neighbors will be the ones putting orange cones out on duke street so that we can back out of our driveway. And some residents voiced concern about a possible loss of parking. They spoke at an advisory group's public meeting last night, which focused on a section of duke street from Jordan street to Roth street. John Aaron WTO P news. "Tire rotations to filters and wipers to a full range of services, visit jiffy lube D.C. dot com for a location near you. I'm Rita Kessler, WTO P traffic. On Friday, forecast now on through the holiday weekend with chuck bell. Nothing wrong with this kind of getaway weather on a Friday afternoon temperatures, upper 80s to near 90 today. There will be a gradual increase in cloud cover, but you don't need to worry about rain today. If you're headed out to the eastern shore beaches, you'll get a dry day today tomorrow and again on Sunday. Temperatures at the coastline courtesy of a little sea breeze will be much more comfortable and a little bit more autumnal as well. Only high temperatures around 80° from roe with the ocean city. Here in the Washington area, temperatures will be a lot closer to 90. Today, tomorrow and again on Sunday and turning more humid each and every day as well. As far as rain chances in Washington, not much of a chance until very late Sunday or more likely into the day Monday and Tuesday. That rain chance will finally lower temperatures down into the low 80s for Monday and Tuesday afternoons. But between now and then, sure feels like summer to me. "Can read interviews with all the candidates from Maryland's governor. On WTO dot com. Hey, if you missed fireworks last night, there's a chance to watch one more if you're an ocean city tonight. Last year, the town's professional fireworks show went up in smoke right there on the sand and an unintentional discharge. This year, it was a labor shortage that triggered a short notice cancellation by the fireworks vendor. So the town of ocean city improvised, they put together a small show ahead of July 4th, and they set up a new fireworks display downtown. That set for tonight. This is bishop Michael burbidge of the Catholic diocese of Arlington, this week marking the fourth of July's traditionally celebrated with family events, picnics, and fireworks. After a two year hiatus in which these events were either canceled or curtailed due to COVID, we realized that for too long we took for granted the celebration of Independence Day and the reason it exists this week reflect on why we have the freedoms that are at the heart of our nation and be thankful for them. We enjoy these rights because nearly 250 years ago, citizens stood arm and arm. United in their desire to forge their own destiny as one nation under God, the journey has been imperfect, but we continue still with God's grace when the road to a fairer, more just country, the founding father's message still resonates that freedom ring may God bless you and God bless America. The B.S. Media Narratives About Biden's Afghanistan Failures

"Going through these media narratives that RBS all week. We added one just now. Don't let them say oh, Biden was locked in. This was a Trump deal from the start to surrender to the Afghanistan to the to the Afghan Taliban. It was a trump deal, but softened Biden could have done and by the way, the only reason the Taliban didn't attack us was because of this deal, Surrender Deal. Trump Sign and M. Biden. Biden was locked in There were no attacks during the it's not true. There were attacks during the deal, and Trump responded because the Trump deal with the Taliban was the conditions based deal. In other words, you mess with us. We are going to punish you and rain heads down on your heads. And that's exactly what happened. I just read to you the headline. Just four days after Trump agreed to this deal with the Taliban to get out of Afghanistan, just four days is simple math, even for liberals. Trump bombed them because they didn't go by the deal. Biden did nothing like that. Biden and Biden said no conditions were getting out empty out the prisons. Screw Bagram, leave our people behind. Don't let them blame Trump. But the most disgusting narrative. Told you we do it a little bit in reverse. Someone we've been covering all week is the and this is probably one of the dumbest short term. Narrative efforts at spinning an hour if I've ever seen is this effort to blame Americans? Sake, did it again yesterday. I'm going to get to that audio, too. It's just disturbing. See they're they're going to blame. Americans are leaving behind their setting it up right now, and the spin is going to be. They wanted to stay as if Afghanistan is like the Jersey Shore or something in the summer Ocean city like a Hamptons resort or something. It's a reality show.

And then my brother and his wife and their two kids tyler and abby they were in a room and so you got lots of family time. "Because i'm sad that i didn't make plans to go to the beach. Do it every fourth of july this year especially so because it's the first time in like six years that it hasn't rained on the fourth of july not last year but in subsequent years. I've made extreme efforts to take this little bored of fireworks and it's poured on our heads at my friend's house at the dupont country club all kinds of places. It's a huge bummer. Did you see fireworks We watched it on tv. They had fireworks where i was last night strangely but and it was so packed. It was a good energy though. Because you know people coming out of the pandemic reckon people were happy about it but you know big crowds like that. Just aren't for me especially in in the hot weather so we kind of did a drive by and then went back to my parents house drive. Good drive-by firework watching. Did you see it on saturday. Had all the fireworks set up for that night and somehow they went off in the middle of the day. Like all at once in ocean city maryland in ocean city. Yeah that was a big deal. That's where it was. I mean i was in bethany beach. Delaware but yeah. I didn't know that that's hilarious. People running for cover the thing with phone is. There's like seven thousand videos of it from different angles. I heard a bunch going off actually a couple of the ones we're discussing because that's an hour and a half away but i heard some going off in the middle of the day on the fourth of july as well but it was like three or four o'clock no sense whatsoever and clearly you weren't able to see anything so it's like what are you practicing was why in ninety works stopped blooming them. I did see. There was the worst some close by and i thought oh my gosh the thing starts at nine thirty and i thought there's no way i can't i can't drag fan on thirty soldiers saying you can't stay up to nine thirty. No it's not staying up till nine thirty. That means that the thing is going to start at nine thirty wherever it is that we're going and i don't want to be somewhere at nine thirty. Trump's Postmaster General DeJoy will testifies before Congress

"Lewis to Joy testifies before Congress Today he is sure to be questioned about just how he is changing the U. S Postal Service. Joy has already promised to suspend his plans until after the election, but still faces concern about male delays and mail in ballots. That is especially the case in states where the vote may be close. Such as Pennsylvania, where NPR's Jeff Brady is based. Just about every summer. For more than two decades, Nancy Rothwell and her family have rented a vacation house at the Jersey Shore. This was the first year she ran into a problem with the mail. The realtor contacted me after about two weeks. And said, Hey, where is your money? And I said, What are you talking about? I mailed it in July. Sir, usually takes just a few days for mail to travel 80 miles from Roth Wells, Philadelphia suburb to the shore town. Fortunately, the check arrived, but just barely in time, three weeks from now. Tell him village to Ocean City, New Jersey is like ridiculous. The Postal Service declined to comment for this story. It referred NPR TOE. Postmaster General Lewis to Joy's announcement that cost cutting measures will be suspended until after the election to joy says the agency will be ableto handle whatever volume of election mail it receives. But postal service unions are not convinced. John Gibson is president of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union. Local 30 Wait, which covers Delaware. Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He says. Giant mail sorting machines that have already been removed aren't coming back. The trend facility took out 60 VCs machines, which sorts mail there not being returned. They're just not going to perceive with removing the other three. The loss of those machines now is a concern, says Gibson, because they also sort mail in ballots because of the pandemic. New Jersey is mailing ballots to everyone, and Gibson thinks not having these machines will slow down processing. Times. The steps that have been taken initially by the postmaster general have led to the slowing of the mail deliveries. No doubt about it. Ohio is another politically important state this election and at least one case, they're postal workers say equipment they thought would just be unplugged and covered with a tarp was instead dismantled and stored outside exposed to the elements. Ensuring it can't be used again. On top of these changes. Union official Gibson says the Corona virus pandemic also has slowed mail delivery. He says absenteeism among his members was up to 50% in spring, he says that's improving and has been cut in half. Still, even with change is suspended and workers coming back. Some voters like Yumi Kwan near Philadelphia are losing confidence that the Postal Service can ensure their votes will be counted and I going to get my mail in ballots on time. If I mail my ballots really get there on time. Voting is important to Quan. She's not a fan of President Trump, who won Pennsylvania four years ago by a narrow margin. With the Corona virus. She doesn't want to risk missing election day. Like if I get physically sick and I have to be hospitalized, I will not be able to go and vote. She signed up for a mail in ballot but has decided it will be best to deliver it in person. Jeff
