"This week? We are doing cast a little differently. Last weekend. The All bodysurfing club had their June meet up on its beach over on the west side of Santa. Cruz and I had the privilege of attending that event. It was hosted by Jason from Super Biscuit. Who you guys might know from episode. Episode Fifty Eight and Episode Twenty One and we got the chance to talk to some of the other sliders that were present was really fun. It was really cool. meet up right off the top. We knew it was going to be a good time. Because as we are coming down the stairway spread out. Of course, Arturo was out there from one more wave, one more Wade's own art. Role he was riveted. He was absolutely rip. India that bright. Orange. Brain blocking on so that was really cool to see and it was not a big day by any means it was like one two three footers I guess, and that was good for me, because even though I was like ninety five percent on point with my son protection my wetsuit, my kicker, my wet bag. I of all people forgot my fins. So that was less than awesome. Those definitely not not awesome, but what I decided to do instead was taking advantage of having a Mike on me and having the camera on me, so I decided to talk to some of these crazy people that like make our community and one of the first people I talked to. You wish Jj. Jj. You were just telling me you rock defense and slide boards, right? That's right. Yeah, how many people in today's all ciders meet up? Did you know before you can? About three of them who already renew Jason are and Jeremiah, Nice Nice. And you've got to be Corey today right right? Yeah, so How many times per week would you say you body sir? Twice a week. Yes, sir, or just body I use. Herbs are used by serving as will warm up. Essentially for a head in with him board Nice and how did you get hooked up with all -siders I rancid Jason La Belle year ago towels and he told me about. His Little Syndicate, he's starting to to A little group, Local Group you'll buy surfing, so that's got introduced. Nice and I. Do you enjoy doing these types of meet ups? Yeah, it's so fun to like feel to just body. Serve a bunch of guys who? Are Like minded enforce moment, just Bernie every time. How would you say the beach closures have impacted you since you're traveling around concern. I mean it's tough I. Mean I I have to have my car all time essentially, so it's been tough to define spots to actually get parking at the same time it. It's understandable. You know even the community safe. What about? Surfing lies where it's right now. Where do you usually ride? I'm typically over at pleasure point. It's sometimes another month. Yeah! How do you feel about? Do you think that like based off of how politicians responded to Cova nineteen in terms of beach closures and access to natural parts and resources, would that influence your voting going forward, or do you think that will still continue to be a second or third tier issue when it comes time who to vote for the balls I refer me personally. It's most likely going to be a second tier second thing. Just because I'm, I'm not local, so it's not within my radar completely, but understandable I. It's something I will put in. Our way in as my as part of my. rationale. In voting. Thank you think that. It's funny how? In the moment I wasn't aware of the sea line noise and now. It sounds like we were basically at fisherman's wharf in San Francisco. I actually also saw Jj this morning. Over by Jack's House on the east side, he was carrying a short. Next up I got a chance to talk to an listener of the podcast. In fact, this young man swam up to me in the lineup. Instead I heard your voice and immediately recognized. You was really cool for me. It's one of the first times that's happened. Organically in the ocean, so it's always cool. You know I. I love meeting. You guys and I. Hope that if you ever see me or Joe or Danny, you know you're always welcome to come and say hello. Anyway let me introduce you guys to Corey. Vo Corey is legit if you were watching instagram feed over the weekend, and you saw that guy snag that narrow point break. That, dirty dirty left. That was this man. That was corey. ARLY? Speaks really getting to be. I'm here with Corey. Round two point because we tried to do the the first time. I like a fool did not hit record correctly Where where did you travel down to Santa? Cruz from today. Came from San Francisco this morning. And that's your your home. That's where you live. primarily. That is where I reside, and that's where I find most of my waves and you add. Without trying to retread too much. You told me that you primarily served at Baker Beach. WHO. Baker beach most of the time and if not there, Ocean beach somewhere Kelly's cove. And what is the community been like up there? Which your experience that it? Is it primarily scraper is great. Surfers I I. Probably are pretty much only serve And if I'm that Baker Beach? There's there's a group of us who come out. I don't even have to hit the guys up usually. Will all be out there at the same time but. There are there. Uh. Guys who hit me up wonder if it's going to be good and we'll, we'll just head out there.

Suffolk Coronavirus: County Beaches Open To Residents Only

"Suffolk executive Steve alone announced that county beaches will be for county residents only Mr baloney joining us on ten ten wins before we get into how would actually you're going to enforce this let's be clear which beaches you're talking about because Long Island as county beaches town beaches state beaches so we're talking about the two ocean beaches in Suffolk County Smith point beach and cop saga beach okay and how exactly will you be enforcing this county residents only so we'll be enforcing that at the gate as people come in we'll be checking they would either have their green card the green key card or they would have their license indicating the residents in Suffolk County so you're going to be checking up people in the car personally not just the car with the badge we're going to be checking the drivers who are coming in to determine whether the car with the people are from Suffolk County because we know that we have limited capacity with the state's order and we know that other municipalities have made the determination not to open their facilities we have to make sure that Suffolk County residents will have access to their beaches okay joining is Steve alone Suffolk County executive I just want to go back to the point that you just made you you said you're checking the the driver of the car are you you will you be will people be speaking to each person in that car no they'll be checking the driver to see that the car is the driver the car has a Suffolk County address no license or green key card which goes to Suffolk County residents okay so this will be by vehicle so if your vehicle okay so if you're on your bike out there and you're not a Suffolk County resident do you have your on your bicycle and you can buy your way and then you would be able to gain access I also we were wondering how you were going to enforce this precisely I know that the Nassau County executive has been somewhat critical of mayor de Blasio's order keeping beaches closed in the city they are expecting so does spill over in Nassau County how do you see this affecting Suffolk County well I mean we do have a concern about that you know you see most of the major beach facilities in the region are opening up even across state lines and you know that's important because you want to provide as much access to people my feeling on this is when you get to Memorial Day weekend people are going to be looking to go to the beach if the weather is right you're going to get crowds there no matter what you do it's far better to have safety protocols in places people are coming and start that right from the beginning of the season that's why it's it I think it's important to to open those beaches let's go back to the two county beaches with these restrictions Smith point park cuts on what are the restrictions once you get there they're not going to be to capacity right that's right so they'll be a limited capacity the governor's order has fifty percent production when you are in your space on the beach there will be staff on the beach that we working to make sure that groups household groups of socially distance you can have your your chairs and a blanket there and while you're in that personal space you can remove your face covering when you're in the water we can have more more lifeguards we can spread people out you'll be able to social distance in the water you will obviously require face covering there but when you're moving about the rest of the facility on the boardwalks or using the restrooms of the concessionaires when those are permitted to open that you'll be required to wear this face coverings will also be taking temps of the staff they'll be wearing face coverings and will have bathroom attendants will be cleaning on a continual basis and in addition to the county beaches do you know what the plan is for the town beaches and we're all waiting to hear that the towns I have been having conversations about re opening they were expected to release a a planned but we have not heard what exactly their plans are and before we let you go were speaking to Steve along county executive Suffolk County executive where to Suffolk stand now when it comes the seven benchmarks governor Cuomo is requiring for the phased reopening can you make any predictions about a time line about some businesses that will be able to re open we're making a lot of progress we're now at five of the seven metrics once we have contact tracers online will have six of the seven we're hiring working with the mayor Bloomberg team at the John Hopkins university we're onboarding people this week because we're getting close elective surgeries are able to start again in Suffolk County so I'm very hopeful that we will be moving towards that phase one opening in the next couple of weeks and one more question about the beaches and I want to go back to the county beaches how long will this is this just for the holiday weekend this enforcement for county residents only or is this going forward for the time being this will be indefinitely but we'll be monitoring and to make a determination as we move forward this could change and it just as the season progresses but for right now this will be the this will be the rule that's in place for the foreseeable future okay thank you very much Steve Bellone Suffolk County executive joining us on ten ten wins with the beach rules going forward as we head into the holiday

"At the ocean beaches a few hours ago this was the shot set in by Bobby on our KOMO LLC site. The legion of zoom there on Facebook notice, the sun breaking for, we've had solid rain here in Puget Sound. But the sun breaks there at the coastline as serene as they appear actually can provide us with the fuel to pop the regular showers into the heavier batch as we head into tomorrow, right now. We're just trying to deal with the steady business and you can see it continues to pull on through it sound, it's a really soggy Monday night. It's been raining for hours and really hasn't changed since earlier this afternoon. Is he the solid, green up and down the I five corridor so that corresponds with light, but very persistent rainfall at this point. Raining right now, tonight it has been for several hours in Olympia and back into Tacoma, as well right around the greater Seattle area from Bremerton Bainbridge, all the way through Issaquah and Redmond solid rain and that's the story into the San Juans and back into Bellingham tonight too. So loads of precipitation after such, dry start to the month of may. We're playing catch up. Now, NASA has a name for our wet weather around here, when it rains and rains, but we barely pull anything into the gauges. They call it the drenching drizzle and case in point. Look at how little we've seen even with the hours upon hours of rainfall at seatac just five hundred seven inch so far today, a little bit more impressive but just barely around port Angeles and back into Everett. I'll look over downtown light rain continuing to come down at this point with temperatures back into the low fifties. A falling barometer Senate at disturbance, waiting offshore that may continue to impact us as we head into tomorrow. Temperatures right now, uniformly in the low fifties for most of us, we've got fifty out of port Townsend and fifty one the Kurt reading out of Tacoma. I look at the satellite picture. Now, this is where you see the turbulence and how it looks from outer space from this perspective, whenever you see the texture on a satellite picture behind a front. That's where you have the bouncier. And that's likely part of what one of those flights went through on its way into seatac today, it's still sitting behind the front, but as it continues to pull up the west coast tomorrow, we're going to head into that sort of pattern where we have the sun breaks like you saw at the coastline from that picture. But also, the lingering showers and some of those could pop into some isolated thunder and lightning storms, especially over the cascade. So we'll keep you posted tomorrow. If that takes shape temperatures overnight dropping into the forties. The rain gradually easing but still in place for some of our morning commutes, especially in the south end highs tomorrow, back into the mid to the upper sixties because of the sun break. So quite a bit warmer than the fifties, we had today. In fact, Linden makes it to seventy we'll see mid sixties around Aberdeen fewer showers, more sun breaking through, and in eastern Washington, mainly sixties tomorrow in the basin and back toward cl- over the cascades. That's the spot most. Likely to see the possible thunder and lightning tomorrow. So keep that in mind if you have to go over the cascades, after Tuesday, We're in the clear for a few days, Wednesday and Thursday, looking just fine. Nice and mild. Another round of rain that does kick off Memorial Day weekend, Friday into Saturday. And then as we head toward the holiday itself. It looks just fine. But again, tomorrow, chance I thunder and lightning. We'll talk more about that a little bit later in the show. Good Shannon more than nine months after her death.
