"There's i just feel like every every hop in the food chain of travel has a fair amount of data available to it. do you think we'll see integration between these parties. Who wanna make sure. They preserve their insights Or is there too much competitive sort of concern and sort of self interest involved. Yeah that's an interesting question. I've pondered A bit the funny thing about it. Is there already sharing all this data now. They're just typically doing it through a third party or intermediary right and so It almost gives them A bit of a cloak it ascends to say that it's kosher because it's either blinded or any other there's kind of a layer remove between potential competitors in the example being. You know like ota's sharing search you know airlines Data to third parties. That you know airlines turn around and target right So you know..
Rodgers Works out With Packers, Then Details His Concerns
"It was festivus in Green Bay on Wednesday and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers spent much of his thirty two minute news conference airing his grievances he explained why he stayed away from OTA's and mandatory minicamp one of those reasons was his desire to serve as a recruiter and evaluator of free agents I think we can all understand you know Green Bay isn't to you know huge vacation destination people coming here to play with me with our team and and knowing that they can win a championship here the fact that I haven't been using those discussions when I want to change moves forward Rogers also said the team didn't have any plans for him beyond the upcoming season he was also displeased by the way the team has allowed several star players to leave the Packers some without any contract offer I'm Dave Ferrie
NFL Fines Jaguars, Cowboys, 49ers for OTA Violations
"Or their O t a practice. What is that deal? I don't know. The story does not explain what's going on the Jaguars 49 years and Cowboys have all been fined. For organized team activity violations OTAs or the voluntary practices that we just had, which a lot of teams canceled. The Cowboys fined $100,000 Mike McCarthy was flying $50,000 Have you told me Mike McCarthy messed up? I believe you Okay, I believe you, but they practice in their fake punch a lot or something. But the school fig podcast. Come on. It doesn't It doesn't specifically say what they what they did wrong. Cowboys ordered to forfeit one Oh to practice during the first week of the 2022 off season, the Jags and Urban Meyer. Yeah, you got to clean it up because his penalties were more severe. Jags fined 200,000 Urban Meyer fined 100,000. They were ordered to forfeit to practices. Well, they were probably in full pads for urban's first Go came in. Line them up. Yeah. Oklahoma drill. Let's go. Uh, the Jag said in a statement that the club is quote vigilant about practicing within the ceiba rules and will re emphasize offseason training rules as they relate to contact. We look forward to the start of training camp later this month and blah, blah,

"Are you putting in the worker showing up at camp with With gut like mayor you show up and camp with a twelve pack. Like he typically would have looks like it'll be on that front. I think it's interesting to me. I did this. Bid on the podcast. The other day rivera says something is important. Not interesting stomach. Somebody who's interesting important. So i did this bit. With few topics is something interesting are important and the idea was okay so for chase young showing up interesting are important and i said that in the short term. It's interesting it's not the biggest deal. We probably won't even talk about this. Assuming you know he's there's no real issue here going forward but it's important. I think because chased the other the clear leader on this team right now. I don't know why he didn't show up and if whatever the reason he he didn't show is somebody he's going to continue to do going forward now. I think maybe next time there's other players that don't show me john. Montas wet didn't show the first week came back last week. Jon allen was there. the first week didn't come this way. But what if next year more players decided not to go. Because they're seeing the casey on the leader on this team doesn't go national for. Ota's does not limit your opportunity to win the super bowl. There's a i think the ravens typically have Normal vets not show up for these things. So it's not the end of the world but it is an interesting central dynamic. That's what i'm curious about. Why i don't so much care that he didn't i wondering why as young didn't what this means going forward for him and perhaps For others on the team who might be influenced by him. All right Ben standing everybody one of my favorites. I appreciate it always do ben Rights for the athletic subscribe to it. "Game plans that that not only addressed his team's strengths and weaknesses. But really attack the opponent. I never necessarily felt that. Way about jay. Who i always thought was a good past design guy and everybody told us that but it was gonna be j. system. You know jay was going to put his system and the guys we're going to have to figure it out. I just think they have a really good coaching staff right now. I think they've got a staff. You know defensively. That's hard nosed disciplined. They've got a disciplined hard-nosed head coach. That doesn't wanna put up with mentally getting beat. Which is what's happened around here for many many years and with turner turner is a lot like his dad. Now we all have different. We'll have one memory of him here in that is really good offensive coordinator not a good head coach and nor have always had. It schemed up for that. I drive better than anybody but But really what. I'm hearing from him. And what i saw last year was joe gibbs talking about joe gibbs the head coach but the way he thinks is. I have to adapt to what i have. You know. i don't have a system that i'm gonna force everybody. I'm going to adapt to the people that we have. And by the way he was on the spot early last year with a quarterback that he didn't want and You know maybe we would have seen different results at kyle. Allen started earlier Or alex smith had gotten an opportunity earlier. who knows. The offense wasn't good last year. And yet i have a lot of confidence in scott turner. It's a gut thing But it's also based on the games last year and what he was working with and how he was able to accomplish at times moving the football with the group that he had and some of the things that he said in have an has said in this off season. I think offensively. They're going to be better. Be got a quarterback. That's better than anybody. They've had since kirk cousins so just by that they should be better offensively but i also have a really good feel for the for a good feeling. Excuse me that the staff is a really good staff and that they're going to get more adolescence and they're going to put people in positions that makes sense you know we're not going to see ryan kerrigan coverage or montez sweat and coverage on defense and we're not going to see you know offensively if we've got a guy that can throw the ball down. The field. a lot of horizontal football. The horizontal football last year was because you because of who he had a quarterback. Anyway yeah no. I i agree. I mean any criticism of scott turner earlier last year. I just kept thinking was. How do we know that the quarterback he's using his on training wheels. And then kyle obviously a little more experience and professional. But like you know he's not. He's not a definitive starting quarterback and then the next guy you know obviously we alex smith was incredibly limited and then the next guy who played the best. The best start of any of them was on a couch a month before but when scott turner was take anybody other than haskins you could see him. Opening up the playbook there was creativity there was aggressiveness and to your point about not forcing a playbook down. Somebody's throat this to me is always what i care about any coach. I don't care what it is. This is why. Maybe it's being reared on joe gibbs and knowing he came here it is on joe gibbs no doubt you came here on air coryell in owen five starts at okay. Let me rethink this. I've got this running back and this offense of line we're going in a different direction and then later in his career. He's which is up again rolling bombs with rip and right right and that to me is what coach is. It isn't ideal. That's why spurrier. I was like this is never going to work. And that's go back because he had a his thing and after he was doing and everything else didn't matter In general whatever it is you have. This is a life thing you have to look at your personnel around you and determine. Here's the goal. Now how do we get there based on the pieces that we have A couple of quick questions about oh. Ta's and then We'll wrap it up on this topic Did you get a sense From anybody that they're really excited about a player or two or three like there's an early buzz about any of the new guys or maybe one of the guys. It wasn't significant last year. I think here my brain is I think about stuff that doesn't always work. I've heard they're really excited about yami brown and causing me. Yeah i mean the cosmi thing. Look obviously you know. The as we've discussed at length. Moving for morgan. Moses wasn't just about everybody wants to will focus. On the moses part the cosmic part of that is a huge deal for that that's why you know the evaded. They now that the draft them they feel comfortable enough To he'll be able to contribute in some capacity this year plus do have cornelius. Lucas though was a play not a. I was noticing where there's no tackling there's no hitting so i if i tell you somebody had a long run. Don't go crazy but like jonathan williams. One of the backups. He's got the ball is twenty thirty yards down the field and i noticed those and offense lyman book lies ahead of him clearing out space and i looked and saw that it was sam. Cosmelor and you brandon sheriff. When he talked to us the other day had fun reaction to to sort of getting a load of cosmi what he brings from a size and speed perspective at. He said yeah. This guy is strong but we also saw his speed today. And you know they don't have to just throw cosmi in there and say you're the starter and day. It's kinda hard to not put him in with the starters because there's really no other option but a tackle they have some some other players and they'll let cosmi kind of earn his way in. But i think from an athlete a physical athletic standpoint. I think they like what they see. Are adding you. You just mentioned and i i actually forgot. He was on the roster. This is the jonathan williams who played for the colts.

"Belmont stakes preview. With eddie see who picked the top two horses at the preakness when he was on with us that friday before the preakness All right you wrote the excitement over washington's offense is sincere and for good reason. Did you write this column now because of stuff you learned from the ota's. I guess i wasn't even thinking to myself. I was sort of column is my editor kind of went down path in terms of the headline. But it was just more like look. You know. I sort of wrote like spring training. Oda's this is the time of year for for straight up optimism. Even the worst team in the league right the jets of the jaguars with his new shiny toy of this quarterback. Here's reasons why it'd be optimistic right. So that's just a baseline for every team. But i feel like with washington. I mean look again. We've all discussed this before but just like really kind of look at it again. Their offense last year was abysmal. Four quarterbacks the first quarterback you does didn't even know how to play the position in a professional in as a professional starting quarterback the guy who did the best for them just him walking onto the field was the success. Forget forget doing anything else. Alex with was obviously limited in various ways and they only had one receiver. That scared anybody. And so on. And so on the defense i think was perhaps a tou- touch overrated based on some of the stats but obviously pretty good now. A chance to get a lot better but the offense a particular man if they just become ordinary think about how much better it would be than what it was a year ago and you now at. If it's patrick you added. Curtis samuel we'll see about these other pieces. The ad humphries and the browns what they do this year but you'll there are a lot more options than there were a year ago. And that's why. I think you know when you're listening to you just listening to have you have. They're all sort of talking about it and The coaches the players And it just like when you see them all out in the field. I mean there's just more you know. I mean also like at this point last year. Obviously there were not as i wasn't thinking logan. Thomas was going to be anything i was like. What are they gonna get a real tight end here right a starting tight end. He obviously turned out to be a big antonio gibson. He had eleven touchdowns last year. And over a thousand yards from scrimmage. He didn't even know which running lanes to attack. At the beginning of the year he'll yell. He barely played running back in college and they switched him to that and the nfl level. Now we has that experience not to mention just humidity went through the entire covert situation with limited workouts. But this was a team to a new coaching staff. Having to do it. And so i just think for all these reasons and you know. There's a reason to be optimistic Done matt sander go to the super bowl. But i'm saying for for the basic point of on paper. Here's what they have. Even at a time of the year. We're optimism is the norm. There's actual reason to be optimistic. Because of the fact that the the moves they made have seemingly all been pretty good on paper. You know as you're talking. I was going to follow up with what i did on radio this morning which was based basically two segments of calls on. You know how much or more excited you are. You know are you more or less excited After this off seasons pretty much come to come to completion. Now there's always the aaron rodgers thing But i'm getting because it won't be here. I'm sure but There's the net of it is for me on. That is that i'm excited. Like i think that they have. There's a lot to look forward to The the roster wise. I also am a guy that never plays the schedule game. But i can see the quarterbacks that are lined up waiting for him and this was a defense last year that was massively improved and it was a good defense. It was not an elite defense. They won seven games. Essentially against the backup quarterbacks In the two starters they beat weren't very good last year and wentz and rothlisberger But there's something else that has me Optimistic and i. I listened to scott. Turner yesterday In his press conference. Because we had rivera in del rio on whatever day that was tuesday of this week and then we had scott turner. And i think kyle allen spoke yesterday actually listen to that but you know at the end of last year. I came to the conclusion that they got it right with scott turner that he's going to be a good offensive coordinator. I'm already bought into rivera. And del rio in the defensive staff in the head coach i was probably as if not more optimistic than most of you listening when they hired rivera. I thought they did much better than i thought they would do. And i was always a rivera fan. I'm not saying he's an elite head coach. It's not bella chick. It's not peyton But he is you know to me in in that range in which they haven't had somebody like him since since mike and his staff and like there's a professional competence to the football operation into the coaching staff that i believe in but scott turner was was really this time last year. We weren't sure we weren't sure about the quarterback. We weren't sure about the coordinator as you mentioned. We didn't know anything about logan thomas. We didn't know anything about these running backs i mean. People were all focused on the wrong guys. I mean our fan base was all indefatigable. Moss and a g g hidden and it turned out that it was logan. Thomas and antonio gibson. I think i think people were excited about gibson but anyway you know scott. Turner said something in his Presser yesterday he was asked a lot about ryan fitzpatrick any said you know you got played. Everybody's strengths. Everybody has strengths and weaknesses. And you have to play to a certain guys strengths. We're going to approach ryan fitzpatrick differently than we would when we had cam newton and carolina. That's an extreme example but there levels to that. And that's just how we look at it. Ryan is a very self-aware guy hill. Tell me i've run this concept. I don't have a real good feel for that one. And then we'll have a conversation will look at it and he said there lots of plays it can be run in football. We can be selective and work to do what's best for our guys one of the things for me on scott turner. Last year as a takeaway. Was i really liked his game. Plans for each of their opponents. Like i noticed and it was pretty early on okay against baltimore. You can't drop back and throw the football with dwayne. All right the balls gotta come out and we're gonna go horizontal but against dallas. They can't stop the run. We're gonna line and run it down their throat. I thought he had weakened in week out..

"Not in the nba finals or at least deep into the playoffs the nba is gonna die on the vine television ratings wise. Which it will without him in it and without the lakers in it by the way how soft is. Anthony davis seriously. Yeah i mean. Obviously i wasn't tracking specific issue. Too bad he didn't look good at all when he came out of the courts. At least i give him some credit for trying. Charles barkley you know and i'm not saying go. You go to barkley for the entertainment not necessarily analysis but he was really going on davis saying whatever he's doing from a training perspective is not working. He needs to do something different at his age. He should not be as constantly her. You pass into your thirties. Okay thank start to fall off but you know he gets her way. Too often. in for the lakers. Obviously you know as good as lebron still is clear. He's not what would what was weird just to see. Lebron be moral at times physically as he got tired last night. A little bit in fourth quarter came out. And then that's when phoenix cop pulled away again but But yeah davis is is whatever i i Look at as much as i sort of get super frustrated with the The constant fawning over lebron and how people are so blind to tend to the to the nonsense that comes out of him his camp and so on. It's it's he. He is an unbelievable player. Like you said to to your point of the finals. It's like it's like it's like a television show that you're used to every year. I know from april to june. This show will be on my television. And i'm going to tune in and it's been that way for a decade james will be in on. Tv during these months at all time now whether eight him or like him. They were watching him for the most part last year. The ratings were dismal in the in the bubble in in the nba hasn't done well but it's it's it's not the tiger affect engulfed by any stretch of the imagination. But it's probably the next closest thing to the tiger effect. Bees obviously the. Nfl is not relying on its star players playing its biggest games necessarily i. I do wonder in that sense if if player for the nba. To come out of the west. Is luka doncic. Because he is. Yeah but most sports fans don't even know who luke is like we do in basketball fans do but people all know lebron and even if you don't love basketball you know he's. He's the reason to tune in people don't understand and by the way. Luca was phenomenal. The other night as was devon booker last night as was by the way Michael porter jr. Who had twenty two points in six and a half minutes of the first quarter was crazy. I i'll let's get to washington football team stuff right after benn wrote this morning. Actually about the offense Or yesterday he wrote about the offense. We'll talk about that right after these words from a few of our sponsors this episode of the podcast is sponsored by blue shoe. It's been a hell of a year guys. I know a lot of you feel like you've aged bunch over the last twelve plus months. If you're like me you're probably feeling a little bit more than you used to. "Were disappointing. did a nice job early and fell. Apart because offensively when the game slows down. He was a turnover machine. They didn't even know how to handle a half court. You know A double teaming of a player. They didn't even know what they were doing. Youth coaches would've been able to explain to that team how to beat that double team much easier. Watch portland last night as they came at lillard early with a double team and see how portland handled it. I just look at this. And i go eat needs a new start. I mean i'm not in for you. Know wow The he that's seven straight triple doubles and they've won four those games and they're inching up in the standings their their seventh now they might be able to get to sixth. Because i know what's going to happen in the post season. They're not going to win. They're not going to beat anybody. Good so you know. It's i think i said this. Tommy yesterday it's the brad pitt. Line and moneyball to joan a hill. It's like look if if championship is the goal. What are we talking about here. But to your point it may not be the goal. There may be a realization that this is a business and we need to be in the playoffs every year. We need those extra home dates for for the revenue that turns us into a profitable organization. And if we take the big swing it trading beal and getting a hall picks and over the next three to four years try to revamp and reshape our roster in the hopes of winning and contending down the road. We're going to be out of the playoffs out of the conversation out of everybody's you know. interest level And and that will be painful and by the way. There's no guarantee at the end of the road that you're a contender in fact it's actually less than fifty fifty but this group ain't going anywhere this group these players bradley beal westbrook hotch chamara gaffer d- brooks in his staff. They're not going to win. More than one playoff series. And that's a reach at this point. I felt much better about the randy. Wittman group But then again. I was not fully aware of what john wall and beal would be together. And i you know i i thought it would just keep growing growing until it was. You know something Equivalent to. I don't know at least at the time i thought lillard and mccollum at the very least put it but but it's not even that and they haven't had the playoff success. Yeah i would just say like to the point of like i'm sure you know on the record. Nobody over there were two. They're not trying to win the title. So of course they would say that you just mentioned moneyball fantastic movie You know i. I did more of the watch the movie and then read the book but okay Great movie and let's use that as an example when the owner tells. Bret the brad pitt character. you know. Hey nice job but your budget's not changing right. It's not that the owner is saying we don't wanna title. He's just saying. I'm i'm i'm i'm giving you all of these constraints and you have to work around it right and that's and that's what we're we're talking about here whether that's you know. They were the twenty eighth team to have g. league team this year. They didn't even have one. Because of the pandemic which i'm not arguments good or bad them to send other teams did they didn't You know the facilities relative to other teams in the league like. I joked to somebody yesterday that it's more likely now that we have this all talk on sixty minutes about ufo's in a. I think it's more likely we have first contact with an alien life form than we do. The wizards go into the luxury tax. Right like i. And i'm not even joking about that. Which isn't to say that they should it with his group. It's just say they aren't doing the all the full throated things that other places are for better or for worse. And when you when you have that you have to look at your look at your ceiling. Now again you could conceivably i mean i guarantee i look at some of the things left. Playoffs are also in that general boat. But you know tim commonly in denver. Who has done a great job. Even without jamal murray. I'm hurt. They they still have a deep team. Obviously you nicole. Yokich could be the the the mvp. He's ruining your vp present. He well he was a second round. Pick right on the they've had monte morris is a guy who who who they found later on and so on and so on so i looked get time. We can't only been on the job for relatively short amount of time even if he was connected to the previous with ernie grunfeld. So we'll see. I have faith tommy sheppard can do some things but yeah it's hard to it and then like i said the westward thing here would i would just say. To sort sorta recap this season they became. It was a absolute symbiotic relationship between russell westbrook's mood and the rest of the team. Not named bradley when he was all in aggressive firing on all cylinders all that that's how they played and when he was distracted like he seemed to be in game five. That's how they played. And i don't know how you work around that. And you mentioned before about like things like getting out of double teams in the coaching. Like this is part of my issue with scott brooks. He's not a players coaches bradley. Beal said the other day he's star coach From oklahoma city to hear. He doesn't seem to be willing to put guardrails on his stars even though even the best players need them at times. I'm not saying that you have to tell you the best players in the league. You know what to do but you need to keep them in check. All of us need coaching. I mean coaches. Are there for a reason. It isn't just to pats on the head and say okay. You're starting go ahead like talk to them as a people what's going on. I think bradley beal could use some of that at times. He's obviously incredible score. But yeah there are times where it's like. He's been told so often he has to do all of it that he kinda forgets that he can pass the ball instead of fighting through double team. But i don't think the coaches tell them these things and i definitely don't think anybody's telling westward these things but i also don't think anybody westbrook would probably listen to too many people. He's going to do it. Westberg does and that's also part of this equation scott brooks at least kind of knows what he's dealing with. You bring some interesting assistant coach. I don't know well. He will that person male or female that person Know how to deal with with westbrook for better for worse and if not what you know there's there are some confusing aspects of this and this thing with the wizard. It's never just simple so simple. You can't just start over. I i kind of wish they would be able to start over but they can't so they're in this middle ground where it feels like. They often have been for the last the one opportunity to start over as they've never had an asset. That could bring back enough. That would give you a chance. A start over like they have with bradley beal. That's the only difference here right. They actually have an asset. That could give him a chance. At a rebuild. Start with just you know i. I don't know if it's a harden hall but whatever it would end up being Will be something that they've never had before because there would be significant interest. Now the other by the way i think it was I think it was very very interesting way that you put that. I don't think i've heard anybody else. Put it this way. And it's one of the reasons. I love ben. That scott brooks isn't a players coach. He's a star he. He's a star coach. And but it's but it's more than that the you really don't see any of this stuff clearly until they're playing postseason games. I love russell westbrook and half the rightist career. Oh before he even got here. I had finally come to the conclusion. You cannot win with him. This time of year it. It's more apparent now than ever after watching this past series. I actually really think bradley. Beal is an elite level score. But i don't think he's an elite player. I think he is going to make the third team this year. The nba author. He deserves it based on the year. He had but if he's your number one you're not winning in the postseason. You're not a championship caliber team. You know there are what we saw. The other night was as frustrating as frustrating gets because they were absolutely embarrassing on defense and a lot of the. The embarrassment of defense times has been influenced by their to supposed star players. Who are often disinterested who are often distracted My god i bear..

"I mean. Look i guess a. I don't really understand how you could be unsure right. It'd be one thing to say you're unsure who the next coach would be right. I mean you have to go through a search or whatever. I don't know how you haven't figured out what you have in scott brooks. It's been five years for better for worse. I'm not saying it's if you if you believe in what's the what are you going to determine about everything over the next few days. I guess you know the Went through a served for the gm. He's supposedly talked to seventy eight people. That which that's my point right. Well that was also adding total. Silliness if you actually looked at the list of the he was talking to but the but this this is they wanted to give off the a a look of this is a deliberative process. Even if as the gm situation when it landed on a guy who had been in the building for fifteen years and for what it's worth. I think tommy shepherds done a pretty good job. I mean you know. I think if you look at almost all the moves. They made this year. The little ones the big ones everything kind of worked out or at least was up more positive than negative and You know he's done some good things on on the marginal trading for davis bertans last year in daniel gaffer this year for basically. You'll not much. I mean gaffer's troy brown but you know what i mean like. He's done good work. Some of the free agent signings and look even the westbrook wall trade. If you give that. I think that's more of an ownership decision but in terms of you know if you're gonna label everything the gm heading that. That worked out positively enlarge as well so To this point. So i think he's done a good job and i would personally think it would make sense to bring him back but yeah it's it's conceivable that everything's in play in there for. There is more into indecision right now than i'm picture. Yeah i mean i just think it's the nature. I'm not saying that individually. These people don't have a really strong sense of what they want. But it is always been an organizational concensus deep dive lots of evaluation. Lots of considering everything in talking to lots of people until they arrive at sort of a consensus He is not an impulsive slam his fist down on a table. It's over this is what we're doing guy I'm talking about ted. Of course i agree with you on tommy. I think tommy really knows basketball. And i i have no problem with him. Continuing his the gm my preference would be that they overall try to go in a new in a new direction. Even though i know more likely than not. The new direction won't produce championship caliber. Teams Either but i think this is A rut day or in I think their biggest upside is forty eight wins and a five seed and maybe maybe to win a series But there's no championship caliber no championship contention with the current construction of this roster and staff what do you think yeah i mean i think the problem with this team even though the strong close to the regular season was fun and look in the year. We've all had considering her ladder. Night wasn't fun now. The ploughs the plan and the plot and the plows were less less fun Some some good moments but you know some duds that we didn't see over the last twenty three game. From even when they lost they were losing by at the buzzer but by and large the ceiling. Here is a lot lower. You know if you compare it to the wall and beal era right. The thing was at both of those players were ascending. And even though the lebron james impediment eastern was obvious. And that's why nobody really thought the wizard were an nba contender by any stretch title contender. We didn't know where things were headed out. In this case bill continues to get better every year. And he's only twenty seven. He'll be twenty eight later this month but the westbrook look for better for worse. We know what westbrook is. The ceiling is obvious and they don't have enough else. The third best player on the team. These based on money davis bertans was more or less a no show in the playoffs. And there's reasons to think that could continue going forward and you know react. Tomorrow showed some signs of progress during the year in the playoffs. But what about. The consistency is the next level. And so on so. It's hard to look at the team advances that Anything more than five or six seed is is conceivable in a sport in which realistically most years four or five teams we know going in. Have a shot at winning it all. And if that's your if you're a fan who is you know rings or bus all about being a contender than honestly. I'd be disappointed if you can look at the wizard debt. Hey this is really entertaining. Because russell westbrook is an absolute force of nature of bradley beal's one of the better players in the league and so on while then you can probably get by for the next two years. But if you're looking at this like well when it's been forty years. What are the wizards back in contention. I'd say realistically you're probably having to wait a couple more years at least and that's assuming a unless timely shepper pulls off a pretty appraise sneaky move that seems unlikely based on the limited options he at his disposal his disposal awesome. Yeah or if somehow they hit you know On a picket number fifteen that turns out to be. You know what we've had you know some middle of the first round guys. Do hockey more has a leap. Where he's i keep saying. He has a capacity leap which nobody saw with. That guy. sure. I mean things could get interesting but look even still westbrook You know for better for worse. He's not always the the guy you want as your sort of lead at the end of games in big games and there's always that aspect of it but lisi if we just give the allure of contending you know we have something allen expected is it. It's just. It's just that. I every year when we get to play off time I've always felt as a long lifelong basketball fan an nba. Fan and wizards fan. For that matter that you really don't learn about teams until they start playing true meaningful games where the opponents not on the second half of a back to back or they're not caring about you know really giving effort that night or playing defense. These are these. Are the games that mattered. This is where you judge players and you judge teams and this team was d- a major disappointment in this series. I never expected them to win the series. I predicted five games. But god damn i thought they were gonna win the other night. That team was not the number one seeded team that they played on on wednesday night. That was a a team without its best player in joel embiid and i thought the wizards were at least equal. To what the seventy sixers we're gonna put out there and not only were they not equal. It wasn't even close and their two best players. Were disappointing. did a nice job early and fell. Apart because offensively when the game slows down. He was a turnover machine. They didn't even know how to handle.

"Research and see how it can help team all term. We need to be discussing. This idea of kobe plays over. All codes fought. Yeah and partially dimitrov. Because well i blame the james carpenter slash. Jim on brand signings and also dante allergy. And you're but you know no one knows you you're always going sign some stinkers but yeah there's a lot. There was a lot. There are a lot of areas there but so like at this point. Like the falcons do have options. You don't necessarily have to trade. Julio before camp just assigned the draft class so like don't think about it in terms of like oh well. they're the falcons. The went back into a corner because they have to do this by this date. They have other options. They'd probably rather not resort to those options but they're not just gonna trade him to sign. the rookies. like that said is so far beyond the what's necessary. I'm concerned a lot. More us. And i was concerned that dated has happened. That the whole thing happened on undisputed. I'm concerned about how because what he's what they've done so far as as far as how big man is is excellent in my opinion so far but things are wanna change once training camp hits and it's going to be nonstop coolio watts day after day after day after day. After day you're gonna get fielded y- give gimme hit with questions now about julio near. Ota's where it's a training camps arts and he doesn't possibly show like you still gonna is going to be. Julio julio julio we'll be or we got pits julio julio julio like this one. I'm concerned about how a rookie. Gm head coach manages that aspect. But they've done so far script but to me that's that's a totally different ball of wax. Yeah because you're doing. You're you're dealing with that every single day as you're trying to incorporate your blueprint into a team and and again it's it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting to monitor. Yeah i agree. And ideally the best thing for both sides is probably a trade for fair compensation to a contender make jones. Happy would make the falcons happy because they got fair compensation and the salary cap they needed. But things don't usually work out that way so like we're probably looking at either the compensation we want or like. You're not necessarily going to the team. He's super happy about or him. Sticking around and having to kind of like just tough it out like i realized that julio jones's saying he doesn't wanna play here but are we su boca tinder playoff. Is it well. It's probably going to be a playoff contender book. It's it probably. It would be very hard to make that work. So it's a look. They're going to find a way to make this work. And i don't think julio is going to be sitting out the season because the worst thing he could do for his future in the. Nfl is to sit teams. Do not like that. You saw what happened to lady on bell. He went to the jets in his career is basically over now so teams do not like that. They do not appreciate it. View it very negatively. Because what's to stop them from just not doing it and doing it again. And i also think. I also think that julio is a professional i think if as long as terrifying no is making a serious attempt to treat him which i think it's pretty clear that he is if the deal doesn't come. The deal isn't come and deal with that they're not going to trade him for nothing and honestly i think we should understand that because it would be insulting to him to get traded for peanuts like as well like if he goes for like a fourth round pick. I mean that's that would be insulting to me if i was really. Oh joe yeah. Ups so i think as long as it's a good faith attempt by fonteneau to find a partner and if it doesn't materialize i think will play and i think he'll be like look we didn't it didn't work out before this season. We're gonna keep listening to offers during the season so just go out there and do the best. You can the better. You look the more likely we are to get an offer so okay all right. So here's an and we will never know this until we actually kurds. Hypothetically they don't find very partner. He misses a few days of training camp but he shows up just in time gives a few companies in campy. Forget about precedings by megaplier on precinct. Yet he plays the regular season in the federal uniform. They start off six two. What are you saying. Well if i'm julio jones at that point and everything's going good he's probably look he's told me like i'm fine. I'm fine is it or is he saying like we're gonna six into before. Usually the six to is at the end of the season when he when everything is already like story is. It's kind of is. I'm going to be looking at art. Hulu the team. Six intruder playoff spot. Right now how do you feel now mike. Are you still own win Technically you gotta win six or right. What's what is it. basically. What i'm getting at is what is your definite. I mean i know your definition of winning winning super bowl. But i in a situation like that. I don't see how you can have that sentiment when the team is actually winning with you on the field. If they start off and have a great start to the season how can you sit here and say while still wanna get traded. Because i mean that's the thing right like winning solves all problems small personal problems so like if they're winning and everything's going great like he might be like offer. It's okay like we could ride this out. And that's what people need to understand like. He doesn't want to go through the whole coaching change and getting his hopes up about this is finally going be like. We don't necessarily want to do that like i'm done with that. I would like to have consistent winning football in atlanta. Like i understand where he what does he want. What does he want to do. Like willamantic assistance. Do you think. Do you think his his attitude was still be the same if they hired a veteran head cooks and doesn't have anything to do with a rookie. No honestly i think it. I don't know if it has a lot to do with arthur smith. I honestly don't think he's had like any opportunity to really form an opinion on not not author smith itself. What i'm saying. They were hired like joe brady or whoever any of the first time head coach. Compare that to them saying we're going to hire tombo or we're going to bring back remorse gary kubiak or something you know with the attitude is still the same mcmahon one out i. It's it's kind of basically what i'm saying is kind of hard to gauge. I want to win. Based is based on what is based on the new philosophy to see is based on the fact that you don't think there's enough talent on the falcons rossi to win. The super bowl is based on. You think you can assume boy at another team so like what is it basil That's much weird to me. Is the like the options to realistic options. Where he could go aren't really any better than the falcon none. You consider that yet. Because i mean arthur smith all of a sudden there's an offensive genius in here calling place They lost a lot of close games..

"Chance in a new place to breathe as a former first round draft. Pick on the forty niners i mean. Do you think they've put in some anchors on this defensive front that are really gonna benefit in the gus bradley system. yeah yeah. Heidi remind me that. I've been saying since since. Twenty seventy when. I was covering the raiders there in las vegas at they need death in defense of blind you we khalil. Mack was there. He was a one man team. There was never no depth There there was never a number two there and then they trade him for a bunch of graphics and they still couldn't find the depths owes like no you trae superstar. You know to hopefully bring depth. And i never came but i think now slowly. But surely they're getting that would in gakugei He is coming off with down with the vikings in the ravens. But you know maybe. He flourishes and gus brasi z. Fronts and one thing more on. Gus bradley he doesn't to blitzer you. Better have a great front four and you'd better have a high cardio and energy. Because i don't know the raiders have eight guys on the davidson because gus bally's even best when it comes in waves of your first floor second floor and it keeps everybody fresh. And that's what you're not doing the the blitz because you try to blitz. patrick mahomes justin herbert. You're gonna get burned. So you have a pressure consistent with the four. That's going to help another get in depth or you know imacs crosby and kind down from his rookie year of butcher. His name is a is a feral or or cleaning pharaoh. Remember he said like okay okay. Yeah they're former number four overall pick. I know he's been struggling. But maybe in this goes braless. Decency figures it out so and you mentioned solomon thomas as well so there's depth there's potential maybe not like a scary front four but is not just like okay with macro just one guy in the rest do much depth there and maybe that could work out for for gospel You mentioned that it was kind of obvious that they wanted to pass rusher. Because that's what the raiders need. They need pass any pressure. And when you're playing herbert mahomes and who knows. Maybe era's gonna denver broncos that i want to start Rumors here but it can get very dangerous in the nfc west so they gotta have a pass rush. Gus bradley is great at that. I'll legit do you think that is. I mean the broncos. We're talking about rumors here. I mean teddy. Bridgewater drew lock. Joe perry right there by the way you bring in aaron rodgers and you see him on sportscenter Talking to kenny mayne and saying how he's unhappy with the culture like he doesn't wanna be there so i think the broncos will probably be on his wishlist. This gets really serious or it could be just roger saying hey treat me right like i'm tired. I'm tired of. This is the last year i'm going to be. You know screaming in the media that you guys are not treating me right so it could be a bluff but if he does get traded which i don't i don't see happening. I think the broncos will be the number one team more than the most aggressive and and imagine that division their car justin herber. Patrick mahomes an rogers again. Even rank like how. How did you rain. Oh it's not a number one or maybe mahomes actually actually had came on real strong last year. You now if there. There's any charge of into your pockets. I'm sure there was plenty in las vegas. They're going to be upset. That i didn't rank herber one so i got in trouble already as you come on here. It's been a long time. Hey gilbert all you're doing. Oh yeah heidi got me in trouble. Just getting back to that quarterback mix if you look at the landscape now. I mean teddy bridgewater. I think you know he did what he could. And carolina. it's not like. I don't think he's an awful quarterback. I think he's a good game manager on but when you think about drew lock there was so much potential. There they really beefed up The receiving corps they had a decent offensive line. What do you think has been the disconnect with them. Is it just too much pressure on them. Too young or it did he not developed to the nfl. That was expected of them with. What's the missing thing you think with. Drew lock drew lock. Maybe it was. You know he got hurt. Also disrupted his rhythm and we forget how good courtland sutton is a wide receiver for the broncos. That guy was like heidi i. Don't you play fantasy. I had two years ago and right now me. He's gotta be missed them so definitely pick them up this a tip for you right there And then i think maybe brigade melvin. Gordon kahn disrupted the running game with phillip lindsay at former charter there and it was very consistent officer. Line was kinda shaky that that players opt out. So who knows you know especially in the thing would you like to. He was so confident the first year he was very outgoing quarterback any kind of lost swagger in rhythm That you know. That's why they brought in teddy bridgewater to kinda wake him up man. I can help. But i was kind of disappointed in what us all year to kinda rude. Affirmative thousand press. When i saw play the charges. But i don't know but at least potato teddy bridgewater you know like you mentioned gay manager. It's going to protect the football. And sometimes that's all you need when you have a defense at the one they have they're pretty. They're pretty loaded on defense. They might be the better than chargers. Yeah i agree there. I think they're pretty solid A lot of good key players still coming back as well so they still have a lot to build off of You know last year before training camp we kinda spoken. We did this whole you know breakdown season. I'm not gonna do that to you right now. But i wanna ask you about the offseason programs because it's going through a different Excuse me i say the new mouth. They're going through a different process than they have in the past especially because things are coming back kind of tune what. We're calling the new normal you know. How much do you think last year. Not this year year's even rookies but about last year's players whether it's a chargers raiders bronco. Anybody are gonna benefit from getting to go through the offseason programs even though there's a lot of boycotting around them i mean but it felt like there was a lot of disconnect between players learning things from zoom trying to apply them on the field and i think a lot of the younger players like a henry. Ruggs for instance can really benefit from having those off-season programs. What are your thoughts on this. You know if you're a guy. Like herbert obviously looks like you don't need it. You know because he has such a great rookie. Year broke so many records but I'm sure guys doesn't herber or like yet like we need to be on the field of practic these these things like i was talking to keenan allen yesterday in his i this is so much better than zoom and you know and veterans are out there like you know for the chargers point of view. I know they have a new head coach. So in these voluntary workouts. All the veterans are mostly there. Because they want to impress the new head coach and that's just the way it is. You wanna lose your spot. So they they showed up in. I'm surprised that keen. Allen showed so a lot of players out there and they said no zoom is not the best to learn and it was a difficult year. If like no last try like kinda maybe li- like oh it's okay. We're but then this year is coming out again. That's sucked the uruguay. It was difficult to do it again. So I like the honesty this year about that and and i think also maybe just being eager like a year ago you went through a whole offseason which is being on zoom and you want to be on the football field. You're excited But then again. You have the kind of the crop of veterans that are still you know word about of safety precautions like are these teams have the best interest in players to be out there in shorts and may when up there really matters i should they really be out there and a year ago kind of proved that you know. Maybe you don't need the may workouts in june. I just go into july because it kinda worked out. The season got finished so I think there was a lot of learning a year ago. Allow try new things so maybe they can meet in the middle like like this work the year ago that not so much. Let's try this but at the end of the day. These otas are voluntary. And and i don't know. I focused on the charts but it feels like around the league. There's a lot. It's a big turnout. I'm not sure why that is. Because i know in maybe april. The nfl pa encouraging. May we stay. Stay home May enjoy and come back in july like a year ago and allow players were colleague. No we want to get out there and learn In person so. I don't know what happened with that with nfl pa and players but it seems like a lot of the players at least the younger ones wanna be out there. Yeah and again. We're gonna get training camp of any reported on tuesday that the raiders may have a in person attendance day july. Thirty first for the raiders. So getting back to training here just as usual it for the raider fans. I know a lot of people were may be expecting or hoping that it would be a napa but because of the pandemic mark davis is kept it here in las vegas all henderson to be exact at the headquarters so But you may have a chance at getting to see an actual practice july thirty first. So i don't know i'm sure. The chargers will have something on tap but Training camps for you guys looking pretty much like it's coming back to normal right same. I haven't heard too much in terms of fans but like in california. The rule is at you know. Come june fifteen. Everything will be back to normal so i expect fans to be there like normal because everything. There's no more restrictions than i think with jars have done is kind of followed the lead of the state and scientists in the officials. They say it's okay. I think fans will be out there. And i know a lot of fans i created a thing about like i cover training camp a year ago and it felt like an exclusive. Vip thing. like i'm the only one like me of being for hebrew watching justin herber for the first time with the chargers. Nobody wants to watch move. Just us like a vip thing now a lot faster. Like i wanna see just in her to so. It's going to be a big crowd. I feel like i. i'm excited for it. I wanna see charter fans out there and get to enjoy the team You know before some heartache. Just getting there by the way Everybody's excited july all say that But we'll see how it goes. I do see founds out there and you know maybe a wave at them and say you know. Check out the podcast and have a drink greg. Great stuff gobert. I really appreciate you coming on. Hopefully this time you mentioned. You didn't even know if i was at the last game. That was because they separated us. We could've been media and home media couldn't even mix. I'm hoping to mix this season comeback round table to see you know we were all like on this We all came together. Vinnie atom eboni. Were all in a car. Down drew a trip down to la. So maybe this time around. You know we don't have to balance so quickly right after the game and we can break beers again so it'd be and and have have you on as always and if there's anything social media you know things you want to throw it out there go for it. No just make sure. Three my sores on my content that orange kinda registered dot com and los angeles daily news and on twitter at g montagne twenty four. I posted on my work there. And i'm gonna plug my podcast again. Cousin beat as always kompass compass on the be. All right. well gilbert thank you so much again coming on man. We'll get you on again sooner. Perfect can hold.

You cannot use the ike light logo or any other copyrighted material the entry form on the lake blog so you have to search for light contest to find the link. I wasn't able to get to directly from their main websites. Who just do a little bit of searching there so fire up your creative juices and enter the pick or it didn't happen. T shirt design contest from michael. Light is reef. Well this is very interesting. Hope reef is an initiative that is being sponsored by shiba. The cat food brand hope reef is in sulawesi indonesia and they are planning to restore one hundred eighty five thousand square meters of reef spells out hope and apparently you can spot the letters on google earth. The purpose beyond restoration is to drive awareness and show how positive change can happen in our lifetime. Hope was unveiled on may fifth. Two thousand twenty one but it actually started two years ago is using something called restare technology that incorporates centimeter wide steel stars that the corals can attach to hope reef has its own youtube channel and you can check out the short one minute and thirty eight second video called the film that grows coral. It's called the film that grows coral because all advertising revenues from the film support the hope reef. Just go out there and search hope brief. Take a look diving with a purpose. That's exactly what a team of divers started last week. According to an associated press article. That i read this team of five to ten. Divers started a massive six month effort to clean up lake. Tahoe out in california. Their plan is to cover seventy two miles of shoreline and their goal is to conduct three dives each week to a depth of about twenty five feet. The team will be running this dive schedule from now through november. The operation is being sponsored by a nonprofit called. Clean up the lake. It was founded by a guy named colin west who is a diver and a filmmaker. The ultimate cost of this endeavor is two hundred and fifty thousand dollars on that i dive. They pulled two hundred pounds of trash from lake tahoe and tagged twenty larger items for subsequent removal. It's amazing that people still use our lakes rivers and oceans as garbage dumps. Good luck to this team for making a difference and diving with a purpose in case you missed it. Psi pci the gurus scoop scuba cylinder inspection. Recently posted a short article on died news wire. They needed to dispel a couple of rumors. Flying around out there about scuba tanks. One was about old luxury tanks. But that's not what i want to talk about here. Philadelphia Eagles to start Jalen Hurts at QB over Carson Wentz
"Jalen hurts time in philadelphia and jalen hurts will make his first. Nfl start sunday against the new orleans. Saints so welcome to the league young man you go against a really good carson wentz back up her and while this seems crazy to all of us it's also kind of crazy to doug peterson i don't take carson wentz out of it. I didn't expect us to be in this situation back in april. So let's just start there. Listen everybody around jalen or around. Carson has to has to elevate their game. We can't do this. They can't do this alone right. They can't they can't do that. It's impossible to to attack. You know an opponent would just one guy so But i fully expect our guys. I play hard and do everything they can to try and win along perfectly clear here what's become crazy about. This is not the way that all of this went down because it became very obvious that a quarterback change needed to be made. But just the fact that here we are in twenty twenty and we'll probably see tastes hill against jalen hurts in this game i key. Let's start with you. What do you think of the eagles finally making this new well. It's about time. I think we you know a lot of the media around and been talking about this for weeks on of weeks but as they say better late than never and i think it's jalen hurts his job to lose and i'm talking about long term. I think when you look at the situation. And i've been around a lot of quarterbacks in my time in organizations and when you say here's a guy who has a opportunity on a two to three games sample that he could take this job and make it his own. He cannot be coursing wins. What i mean by that is he cannot play like carson with. He has to play like the jalen hurts. That was drafted in top fifteen picks in the national football league. That guy that we saw at oklahoma the guy that we saw a brief time in alabama. If he does that and he can ignite this offense. Then it's his job to lose. Come next off season. I think the philadelphia eagles are looking for the same things. I think when you look at it they say okay. If jalen does what he's supposed to do we go into the offseason with a quarterback battle. Ota's as many camp training camp. Give the up to carson wentz. Because that's what we're gonna do because you follow the money and then you put carson carson wentz carson jalen carson with a short lease. You say you got two to three games to prove yourself and if not we go snatch twenty one is hurts. His team were done which it. That is the way you do it.
Should the Patriots replace Cam Newton with Jarrett Stidham?
"Think this is where we need to start because it's where everybody is starting when we talk about the Patriots and where we're at with Cam Newton right now in terms of the Patriots quarterback of the here-and-now home and also maybe even looking Beyond here and now to the 2021 season even and here in New England you turn on Boston sports radio, and I'm not trying to pick on those guys, but there are definitely talking a lot about Jarrett Stidham and the possibility of benching Cam Newton for Jarrett Stidham. I think they're crazy. But that that's a topic for another day. Mostly I want to focus on what are your opinions right knee about how cam is playing and how he can obviously improve from objectively. What was a very bad game on Sunday against the Cardinals whether you're a chemist and or a cam hater. Yeah, and it wasn't dead. A game against Arizona and Arizona. First of all, I think you have to remember that Arizona's defense is a lot different than Houston's defense. It's a lot different than Seattle's defense back in week to that Houston game. That's you know game those were two games with Jim actually got the passing game going and you felt hey maybe they could put together a passing game that could actually be effective Arizona see on their athletic. They fly all over the place Isaiah Simmons budda Baker. Like they have guys that can play they have some different things and they certainly they were putting an egg nine guys in the box of times. I'm sure having you saw that as well. I know you have from some of the work you've done they were basically dare in New England like go ahead. S game by throwing the football and it looked like they couldn't, you know, they got a couple breaks at the end with a missed field-goal and Isaiah Simmons penalty then put them in position to win, but they didn't win that game because of the passing game, but you know, that often said, I think we all have to sort of take a step back and realize a couple of things one. You mentioned I studied quarterbacks. Each week at USA Today. I have to do what we call a QB camp where I put up five of my quarterback videos of the most notable quarterback performances. There are some weeks friends. It's hard to find five good quarterback package, which is league-wide It's just tough. This is one of those weeks like you might get Baker Mayfield than that because there's just not great quarterback players Patriots fans were spoiled from two decades of Tom Brady where we took the best at the quarterback position weekend and week out but then when you take a step back and you don't have that and you see guys like, you know, Derek Carr and his high variance play or Baker Mayfield in his high variance player. Look at Carson waves, I mean talk about somebody that's regressed. He's regressed all the way back to his senior year at North Dakota State quarterback plays tough. And right now we have a quarterback. That's high variance. Well, that's one thing. I think we need to remember the other is this he came in late in a strange year in the midst of a pandemic with no training camp more minimal training camp. No minicamps. No OTAs, no prestige. James be tough complicated offense to run that has so many different moving parts. You've read The Playbook, you know, Evan every road has like six different variations. I'm trying to do is hard. There are some play books that are easy. It's like oh, yes, this makes sense Bruce Arians Playbook. It's kind of easy. Nothing really changes Josh McDaniels doing the Patriots Playbook. It's like quantum physics for me. Like I I can't figure it out. And so to try to do that in the midst of all this is difficult. So with that context, I think you know, if you want to get into the home Jared versus cam debate. I don't really think there is one because as you pointed out this week on Twitter Bill Belichick has seen Jarrett Stidham now for almost two years. He's seen him every day in practice if Jake was going to be the answer to what fixed to what else is Patriots passing game. Yes, he would play him but he's not so that tells you what you need to know about Jackson them. I was on Jarrett Stidham home. Right before they signed Camp. I remember I wrote the peace and said look Jack said it was a planet quarterback everybody and I'm so glad I snuck in at the ad. Well, look if they could get can do it for cheap short not be great. But Jarod said it was a planet like two weeks later. I signed Cam Newton Cam right now gives them the best chance to win games. Is it through the passing game most weeks? Probably not, you know this week might be a get right opportunity. But if I you know, if for the 2021 season, I still think canvas done enough to earn the chance to win this job with a full complement of training camp preseason, all that stuff of the engine needs to get better at Short of the mechanics break. Absolutely not do they matter. Sometimes they actually do but right now he's the best shot they've got week in and week out to win games.

Microsoft Said to Be in Talks to Buy TikTok, as Trump Weighs Curtailing App
"President Trump has given Microsoft until September fifteenth to negotiate a deal to buy a piece of Tiktok that's a step back from trump's threat on Friday that he would ban the popular Chinese video APP, which he calls a national security risk. Let's bring in Greg Remai- Otas he's an editor at Reuters and was one of the reporters who broke the story and Greg Microsoft said in a statement that it's committed to acquiring tick tock but there are a few things that they I need to work out what are some of the main concerns over the next few weeks? So, they need to convince US national security officials that TIKTOK will not offer any backdoor to China's government were to be separated from its current owner by dance and be owned by Microsoft. All of TIKTOK data on American users is already stored in the United States, but because talks platform. It's algorithms is code are shared by other by dance APPs US officials need to be convinced that if the word to be a sale to. Microsoft. By then sworn, be left holding the keys and still have access to the APP let's break down just a little bit. So talks parent company, which is a Chinese company has taken steps in the past to try to appease US regulators on this front. But president trump still says it's a national security risk just remind US briefly how we got here. So we wrote a sexually broke news last year the Committee on foreign investment in the United States had opened an investigation into Tiktok. This is a US government panel, the scrutinises deals for potential national security risks. But of course what has happened since then is that relations between the United States and China have deteriorated. The president told reporters less last week that she was sexually looking at banning tiktok. But we reported yesterday that he will now allow this process to run, and if process will basically give forty five days for Microsoft and bind them to see the negotiate a deal that can you know a piece US national security officials So, this Microsoft deal would involve them buying tick. Tock Service here Canada Australia and new. Zealand so does that mean that this parent company would still operate the service in the rest of the world? How exactly what that work? That's the key question show. We understand that as far as those countries are concerned, Microsoft would be taking over but like the the. will be in the detail because this is being don show by will have no access no backdoor TIKTOK and to be fair that's probably why you show the president and some of his in the White House not being able to make up their minds because it's been like a very big question mark can you know that the -nology of Tiktok really be taken away from by them in a way that satisfies US concerns. Microsoft owns linked in, but otherwise, it isn't really well known as a social media space. How big of a deal would this acquisition of Tiktok for Microsoft I mean would then put it in the same space to compete more directly with the facebooks in the snapchat. So the world absolutely would be transformative and you may have noticed at the congressional hearings last week when. Four big technology company CEOS attracted the ire of lawmakers Republican, and Democrat Microsoft wasn't there. Beyond Lincoln Microsoft mainly focuses on. Business Software and and this you know and map that both hammer million. Users in the United States, would you know give Microsoft one of you the social media industries, gems, and? Turn them into. A very big player she'll be. To see how the president navigates the politics of this deal with his own base menu supporters are suspicious of big technology companies. They perceive any inherent bias against conservatives, social media, and at the same time you probably over the weaker many of his you know Republican supporters, Lindsey Graham, particular tweeting, making statements, encouraging the president to clinch the deal with Microsoft show. You be very interested to see how trump navigator this. Yeah, I mean some of the speculation is that trump backed off of earlier threats because it would alienate the party's younger users ahead of the election do you think that this deal will actually happen? The big unknown here is this technology issues we discussed this you sure absolute seperation back of suddenly has the cash to pay for this. The question is, can a deal be put together? That appeases the hawks in DC. That's Greg Room Yoda's editor of corporate finance in Deals at Reuters Greg. Thank you. Thank you.

"Get off my needs warranty in anyway for access we can of all those things expandable waist pants gold can we go with you on a Monday morning which feels a little bit more like a normal Monday not in totality because not everything is playing the weight nor like normally this is peak sports frenzy right now right because you have literally everything going on we would be in the middle of rookie mini camps in OTA's Indiana felt we would be Major League Baseball really getting through the first twenty or forty thirty forty games of the regular season we would have playoffs in the NHL in the end US golf and everything else in the NASCAR that was going on so just to have some of those things made it feel somewhat like a semblance of normalcy in mid to late may even though it really except there was nothing normal about watching professional golfers in shorts carrying their own bag Jack don't was awesome to watch but it was kind of weird to see not gonna lie it really was by the way again super goal feat nerds thing Seminoles just such it I kind of course and it has been on television I don't think it forever or ever in that that venue to see the course that is what you've heard about this course and a lot of us have the same number what are your best friends and his members so you get on is a member like twenty all the girl just struck twice by you so just to see that part of it was cool but again what was really interesting like you said there were no caddies and after a couple of shots they would do Hey hi there hi five yeah he made sure that they kept their distance and Steve center does a great job for N. B. C. and the golf channel was doing the postgame interview and as he was orchestrating after Rory and Dustin one you could see okay semi circle you stand over there you stand over there and then we'll do the interview I mean that's sort of where we are right now well I I think sports is such an area of routine and part of the reason we all felt a little more normal since we had options of what to watch on a weekend of things with uncertain outcomes that's what we used to work as a routine it's gonna take a little while to get used to the new one it took NASCAR drivers a little while to get used to I mean that's why we had that you know mandated caution period where everyone could go in there after the first thirty laughed because we understood there was gonna be an adjustment I'm very interested to see the next event for everyone right you see the U. S. C. already started to stack event Saturday night was USC's third event this last week and everyone started to get more and more comfortable with the construct how soon will that happen because athletes are creatures of habit and now that you've given them all this new way of doing things and we've already talked about it everything going on with the Buddhist leader in how they approach that because of the sheer volume of athletes is going to be such a good telltale for what the NFL what the NBA what these larger north American team sports leagues have to do with this animal may I will be interested in how quickly all of those players and coaches make that adjustment just like you said with the U. S. C. NASCAR's do it again as well sorry Kevin Hart Kevin Harvick in in a little over an hour so they have another race Wednesday yeah right I mean it and then Sunday and then Wednesday and then Sunday and they just added more to the schedule as well so they continue to go in a Gulf we'll start to get actual tournament not just skins games because I've always said I've always said the skins game really means nothing to me now this is cool because it was a sport if you guys can bags a little different and all the money went to charity yes okay but the normal skins game we used to watch I don't like them until you're using your own money it was called the silly SIAC used to park all silly season for this year was over everybody would have a five hundred grand on their own money and then and then I'll I'll I'll be a little more interested in again the manning Brady thing that's going to be kind of fun as well it's it's going to be a charity event as well but it but for the most part it was just fun to watch in the beginning at your point like now what do we get next to we stay as interested in kind of in the sports back but it's not really all the way back it's it's put your toe in the water and there's a lot of things to get to but I'm glad Mike junior that you brought up on this legal because not just because it's a fun word to say but from a theoretical standpoint from a practical standpoint we're talking about eight a sport where there is contact is not time to contact but there is contact and we're talking about in both Bundesliga one Bundesliga two in Germany that twelve hundred athletes and that is the model if you're looking at the NBA or Major League Baseball or the NFL or college football which I think is the most light but very going to have to go through in golf you can socially distance that's pretty damn easy in a race car you're in your car somebody else really racing team not you is correct but the the the way Bundes league of makes its way back I think is the model that every big league sports franchise of sports entity in this country that's the thing they should be monitored because that's gonna have so many similarities to what they're going to have to go through it isn't it kind of brings up an interesting point that I was thinking about when we are watching a NASCAR is Kevin Harvick talking about the weirdest part of the day for him going through and winning the part of not having any fans and instilled for for me that I took some of that enthusiasm of the went away just because of the fact that you are able to celebrate with the crowd and so for me that was that was really awkward because I feed off of that stuff and enjoy those those types of moments and you know what it's for for me didn't really know what to say after the race because it's just such a unique situation that we're in one he mentioned to being six feet away from the person interviewing him you solve the social distancing measures but then you also saw their talking about explaining these things in the broadcast in the background you see the pit crew close together because they're going to be when I got down to it like at a certain point with this one Joe Rogan made this decision because a lot of people were critical of you have seen him doing interviews of the fighters right after he said listen we've all been tested we all tested negative to get here so why am I going to get your bridge that we know with NASCAR that was not something that was going to happen unless you know you hit the temperature protocols all these other things they had in place that is not going to be I think a concession or at least at this point that we give to the NFL the NBA Major League Baseball we've pretty much heard universally from that exact I believe we have to test it is going to be a part of is the availability of tasks and how lenient we are with the idea of a sport came back to give us something and work hard to do it so we're going to sort of let them often say they're trying very hard even though we know testing was not a part of and can you add to it because we're all used to what's what's the the two big words now social distancing right well and because they're going to be testing look at look at time out in basketball look at after every series in football what do what do you do after an officer's in football you guys all go sit together right everybody sits together we do it on defense they do it on offense you go over things and everybody sits together are they gonna do that are you gonna be able to do that if you say Hey we've all tested well been tested twice this week everybody's negative so we can do that I think are you not because a lot of it is being together like that and going over I think we saw for an especially in soccer we talk about Buddhist leader you saw the players that were gonna be on the field together the guys that we're gonna be in the picture together they were together so it is because I know the contact is going to come were part of the sport correct for football and basketball and everyone else you can try and save the reserves like just like it did where if you're not going to go into the game we're going to keep your distance until you have to be on the off chance you don't have to in football and basketball and all these other sports if you know you're going to come into contact I have a feeling some of those measures are going to go by the wayside yeah that there's if you're if you are being tested the way the NFL Major League Baseball and you're proposing there's no way around that I mean there's no way you're going to have to be in those clothes contract and that's why testing is gonna be such a big part of those sports when they return coming up what's the most realistic way to get more NFL teams to.
Breaking Down NFL Virtual OTAs
"So so explain to me what a virtual TA or virtual mini campus each player is working out individually or what yeah I was so so a lot of this is having to do is just kind of communication that the the team's going to have with their players there's going to be online meetings you know zoom meeting kind of stuff they're gonna be able to to talk to the players kind of go through the playbook that they might have some virtual workout type stuff maybe Lauren Landau will lead some workouts I mean in the end they they have to keep social distance right and they kind of have to do this from either their own house or from places where they're not to be around people and and the Broncos are like every other NFL team are taking this very seriously but there's a lot of guys that get workout bonuses they get off season training bonuses just for showing up so the Broncos like every other NFL team that wanted the night these guys that opportunity plus again if you lose all offseason communication with your players you're gonna be really really far behind so that the team like every NFL team is is kind of proceeding with okay this is the best we can do we can pass out the playbooks we can get the information these guys the coaches can talk to the players and the kind of proceed from there Ryan Edwards co host of Broncos country tonight is our guest

Strong All Season: Exercise | Meaghan Terzis
"Now I'm a busy mom of two. I run a busy household a an entrepreneur and so energy is so key in my day and so if I don't have enough energy. I'm not able to do the things that I really need to do. And the things that I need to get done. Sometimes it doesn't get done right so I wanNA make sure that my energy is up high and that I'm able to function from up here and so I wanNA share with you guys some of my favorite daughter products and oils that. I use to make sure that I'm on top of my game all right so first things first I wanna talk essential oils because we all know that dough. Tara has the most incredible essential oils and these. I've actually chosen three. That are my favorites now again. There's a ton of different oils. That will help and that we will love. These are three of my favorites. So number one being peppermint now peppermint. I'm sure that a of you guys can agree with me is a staple in my home. I love this oil. It comes everywhere with me. You'll find it in my purse. My Gym bag. You'll find it beside my bed in my bathroom. It literally is any everywhere that I go because it's one that I grab quite often throughout the day. This is a great oil for pre and post workout and how I use it for energy. Is that what I do is put one to two drops in the palm of my hand. I will rub my hands together and I'll just do a nice little tent. Be over the nose and it takes three big inhalations in what this is going to do. Is it's going to help to open up and support the airways another thing that I like to do is I like to take the remainder of the oil. That's on my hands. I like to rub it on the back of my neck and onto my shoulders because what that's doing is actually going to give this nice beautiful sensation and so I find that to be very invigorating. It's very energizing. And just you know when you're hitting that wall in the middle of the day and you're just needing something to help pick you up. Grab your peppermint oil. You'll be surprised how well this works. And how great this feels and just is a really feel good oil and again just a couple nice. Big inhalations is a great way to use your peppermint oil also. Great in the diffuser as well. Now I said my second I have three oils but actually my second one. I'm kind of classified as my citrus oils because citrus oils are very uplifting. Now do I have a one specific citrus oil that I love? It's hard to say because there's so many good ones I love wild orange I love lemon grapefruit citrus bliss so anything citrusy is very uplifting. It's very energizing. It's feel good so if you come to my house you will find diffusers. In every single room and in those diffusers you will typically find a citrus oil diffusing now what I love about citrus oils. Is that it blends well with pretty much anything and everything. So you can add some some floral to it if you want so your you know your drain. Yam or your Lang Lang or you could do something more. Mid To experiment or peppermint or something herbal. So I love things like Rosemary which is also really nice. And the diffuser as well so again using your your citrus oils to help. Energize you Is a great way to to help give you that little bit of boost of energy throughout your day again you can do a drop into your hands and again the ten teepee couple big inhalations and you can also apply to. Paul's point so the risks behind the ears Those are also great ways to use citrus oils. Also I know that. A lot of people love aromatherapy jewelry. So you can buy necklaces. And bracelets with the aromatherapy jewelry that have eleven beads or have felt beads so that you can apply oils and just kind of smell throughout the day My third favourite oil is actually blend so. Tara has some incredible blends and one of my favorite blends to help. Give me energy through. My Day is motivate if you have not tried this oil yet. I highly suggest that you do it. Such an uplifting feel-good oil. It again has pepper minute. Has Clementines has got peppermint got some citrus oils in there it also has coriander Basil Melissa Rosemary and a little bit of Vanilla. So it's very minty fresh clean smell and I use it the same way that I use my government and I use it the same way he's my citrus oils. Whether I Do a nice little tent and have a Nice Cup a nice couple big inhalations in or I put it in my diffuser. I apply it to my pulse points or put it on my jewelry. These are the ways that I loved oils air medically because when we breathe in natural aromatic compound is going through the olfactory the nose and it's hitting our limbic system in the brain which controls a lot of different things in the body and it's a great way to use oils to help support our moves in to help to support our feeling another incredible product that you can try to help to increase energy throughout your day is meadow to Max now. I'm not sure if you guys have tried this product yet but it's probably one of my favorites especially when it comes to a balanced stable energy. Alright so this is not energy stamina complex it. Has Things like Ginseng. Which is a natural energy boost? So it doesn't have things that are like harmful stimulants or caffeine. So you're not going to experience a crash. What this does is it actually delivers. Atp Andrea Cells. So it's actually enhancing might Oke Andrea function and again you're going to be delivered a solid stable balanced energy throat. You're so if you haven't yet tried this. It's an awesome product to try out like I said one of my favorites I typically like to use it in the morning Prior to my workout and again I like to get things done in the morning between six. Am and noon. And that's typically what. I like to use this product just to give that balanced table energy throat my day now again as we're talking about energy. I think it's important to know that there are many things in our life that contribute to what causes us to experience energy right. So it's not just grab your peppermint or grab your your oils. Which are great. They will help their great tools that we can put an tool belt for for emergencies and for things like that but we also want to look at our lifestyle right. Are we sleeping properly. Are we getting the right amount? Might amount of hours of sleep. Are we eating? The right. Diet are as neutral as our nutrition up to par right. Are we getting enough movement in into our daily into our day as well right? Are we moving our bodies are we? Are we exercising? And so I want you to really look at these areas can take a look like. Are there things that you can improve when it comes to sleep? I mean I I love having a good sleep routine in place right and I love a good bedtime routine for my children and for myself for me. I'm all it's all about self care so again I love being able to go in and get the diffusers going using some of my favorite nighttime oils things like lavender. Vetiver Cedar Wood Frankencense piece. So those are some of the oils that you'll find in the bedroom things that I like to use. I will always have a lavender touch roller bottle beside my bed to roll in the bottoms of my feet. I also like to have a piece of paper and a pen so that I can bring dumping but everything in my head onto paper so that it just helps me to have a better night's sleep right so look at your routines and create some great routines for yourself and for your family to help to improve your sleep because if you're sleeping better you're going to have more energy the next day or eight so take a look at that. We also want to look at our nutrition and our diet right. We WanNa make sure that we're eating the right foods right. We WanNa make sure eating fruits and vegetables. We WanNa make sure eating. Lean searches a protein complex. Carbohydrates healthy fats. We WanNa make sure that. We're watching the amount of sugar that we're eating processed foods. We want to eliminate or limit those things right so for me. I know that healthy diet but our foods aren't as nutrient dense. They were fifty years ago. So it's important for me to make sure that I'm using the right supplements in in in along with my Diet. Because that's what's going to help to give me energy now. I loved Otas. Lifelong vitality pack. It is definitely one of my favorite products that actually helps to give me energy throughout my day as well In here we have three different products that we use. We have our L. S. E. R. S. Which is our cellular complex. Which actually going to help provide great healthy cells in the body because as we age our cell to diminish you. It's important for us to have the the making sure that we're keeping those cells replenished we also have our Seo Omega which is our Omega supplement which is great for cardiovascular Brain and joint health and we also have our micro plex vm. It's it's got your twenty two essential vitamins and nutrients in there so again. You're not getting it if you're not getting it from your daily Diet it's important to make sure you get it and so for me. I've really noticed a huge difference in my overall energy throughout my day. By using this multivitamin and making sure that an eating a well balanced nutritional diet and then the third thing is obviously exercise and movement and a lot of people have business conception that in order to exercise it means you have to go and kill yourself from Jim. Right and like all these all these things that we have to go and work out for X. amount of hours really at the end of the day as long as you get your heart rate up. Maybe break a little bit of a sweat. That's important so maybe get outside. Go for a walk. Go for a run. You know put on a a Yoga Youtube video and do some yoga. It's really easy. It's what you enjoy and I think that's the thing you have to remember when it comes to movement do what you enjoy because that ultimately that's GonNa make you happy and that's what's going to help you to continue doing those things and creating those habits in your

"So do you think there's a shake up coming on the OTA travel sector and you know maybe other any companies out there that you're following more closely than others that you're perhaps bullish on so the customer corporate travel managers has expressed an interest at some point in time of bringing O. A. rates into the mix you know do I allow Expedia booking dot com hotels dot com rates and make those available to our corporate travelers what we're finding is in some cases that makes sense probably in Europe in certain situations where you just can't get to the hotel any other way other than buying potentially direct but for the most part we're just not seeing a significant discount from those rates okay and and the other disadvantaged listings when their discounted those rates and to be non refundable and and and potentially prepaid which really aren't applicable for the corporate travel market the issue that we're going it does he said that's true in plus you have all these fees that are embedded in there that are tough to find as well read the latest issue that we're finding it more often than not you don't see all the season when you show up at the hotel to check out there's a resort the property fee they they kind of wrap it in a different names but there's a fee that's charged on checkout counter hidden and it seems to be more prevalent with these TA types of rates that you see with the other rates that are out there it's such a game Steve real quick I have a question for listeners you I suggest monitoring hotel rates about a month out why is that what to look for the leisure market most of the revenue managers of hotels really start getting a sense of occupancy about thirty days out and in our daily rate shopping we kinda look at how often rates you get kind of get adjusted up or down and all the fun starts for the leisure market about thirty days forty five to thirty days out from check yet in the corporate market it's more about two weeks out from check in it's so you know what happens with our solution is will check every day but as we get closer to those with those we actually speed up and we start checking multiple times per day to take advantage of those rate drops that they Kerr heard you mention twice Europe cell I don't trip Pam is headquartered in Dallas where our engineer Bob is based because although Merion I renew your can have ready in Saint Paul our show is produced in Dallas and distribute over the satellite from there but I want to hear about your international expansion because I'm told you now have a regional headquarters in London and other operations in France and Germany why well because it really started with a larger US companies wanting us to process transactions on a global basis and so as we started bringing up you know their entities in those countries we needed the ability to support them and provide service so we've established an office in London we've got sales account management all those necessary parts and pieces there we're also starting to make some headway into you know the other countries in Europe as well but we're we're global at this point I mean we're processing bookings and a hundred and eighty countries around the world is big growth since we last spoke it
This Too Shall Pass and it Aint That Bad
"To the Shalini. Show Jelena's a New York Times bestselling author celebrity fitness trainer in obsessed assist with helping you. Actually we're not going for a ride. We're just sitting in my car. Thanks for being here and keeping me company. I've got a nice Warm Cup of coffee. He and I got ready a little early today. So I've got like an extra twenty minutes and I was just sitting here going over my day my push journal and I thought you know what I've got something on my mind. I WanNa talk to my my lifers about this one and it's really the idea that life is hard like well and sometimes life is good and easy and we don't always recognize nuys when it's good an easy. It's funny how that is right because you've ever given birth. If you have kids you gave birth to those kids. You know what I'm talking about like you quickly. We kind of forget the painful uncomfortable pieces and you consider having more sometimes but what I really wanted to talk to you about. Is it kind of that idea like talking about the perspective that eventually everything gets better the this is life and today actually yesterday I should say yeah it was yesterday. I was going through this big box of photos. I mean photos from when Britain. I all the way back to when we were just. I married newlyweds. Pictures from our wedding pictures from when Brock was first born and then when he was a toddler Adler and all the birthday parties and then Sierra being born in I do apologize. If you're listening I don't know what the deal is. There just are not as many photos of Sierra. I guess that's at Second Child Syndrome but in my own defense. It's also when like we started taking digital photos and so once everyone one-star doing that. We stopped printing photos. Are you with me like how many thousands and thousands of photos do you have on your phone right now. Div Not printed them like remember remember. How every single week? I don't know if you're old enough to remember this but we all used to go to costco or CVS or the drugstore like probably like once a week and you get this big giant pack of photos autos and it was so weird because you didn't know what you're going to be getting because you took the photos but you didn't have a digital camera to look and see like if the photos were going to be good or not you just picked up this huge stack of real photos. It's so strange that was like a minute ago and it was over. The course of Sierra's lifetime. We just went straight up digital so there aren't as many photos of her poor girl. Love you girl but anyways as I was going through those photos Brett was gone for a couple of days. I was like sitting on the floor and I'm going to these photos and I was really thinking about what was going on lives during those times times like looking at a phone going like. Oh Yeah Whoa I remember. I remember who was there that night. I remember getting a fight earlier that day. I remember remember the argument. I remember vying that skirt. I remember buying that dress like you know what I mean. All those memories were coming back to me but I really started for some some reason thinking about some of the more trying times over the course of the last twenty twenty five years and as I was looking to these photos otas thinking about some of those tough times. I was reminded that in those moments I remember feeling like would would never get better that it was so painful and so horrific in so uncomfortable. Whatever it was right because there's all these different stages there's just never you can't imagine it being incredibly different? I looked at photos when we were in our first Home together and thinking about how how many months we had to work to afford one window treatment. We had this one kind of bigger window in our downstairs area and I had a personal training client at the time who is a decorator and she had these like ornate beautiful window uh-huh treatments and just remember going. Oh Man let's have her designed one beautiful draperies like this beautiful ornate window treatment and and like we had a scrape up every penny to do that and and it felt like such an extravagant thing and I just remember thinking like what would it be like if we could do like all of our windows you know not just have this one night it was now we just have one window but like there's one area where we had like one big tall window anyways ways I remember feeling like will never be out of debt like will we ever have a savings. Will we ever have that time of the month roll around when and we have to pay our mortgage will we ever feel like it's not painful right and then and then I'm looking at more photos and remembering when things dig a little bit easier but but then I remember like then. I'm looking at times when the kids were little and just feeling so overwhelmed and so alone and feeling like Oh gosh this is so oh hard into my doing this right and it's so stressful and I just remember crying and crying because Brock would never stop crying crying when he was a baby and people say the rudest things like. Oh your babies Koloki because they're picking up on your energy you know that you see how it was blame and just remember so many of those struggles and then you know going through additional photos and seeing people who were in my life for a period of time who you know there are good and bad bad times and I remember like the really bad times. I remember like having relationship problems with like a person person who's like no longer in my life and to think about the grief that I was feeling in that moment and then to think like wow. I haven't thought about them in fifteen years breath that time in my life that person became all consuming then every time I I looked at another photo and thought back on what we. We're feeling at that time I would just take a deep breath and the sense of calm just kept coming over me as a reminding myself that nothing's permanent like everything gets better the worst of the worst pain and tough times and challenges. Eventually it gets better eventually. You are better for it. Nothing stayed the way it was. We made it through everything you have made it through everything. No matter how dark the the pain is it you feel right now no matter how much despair you feel and how sad you might be and how devastated stated you may feel this is GonNa pass things are GonNa get better. Your pain is not permanent
How Orbita is using Voice an AI to change the healthcare experience
"Joint today by Nick White of orbiter nick tells a little bit about who you are and what you do. Thanks they have great to be on my. My Name's Nick Wide. As you said I just joined open a recently in the roll off executive vice president patient kiss solutions and in that role look at product that we've gone cold over assists which is a vertical solution? Dove on top of the the over platform focusing on care for patients is and nurses and recently joined the team from Deloitte are being a consultant for many years focusing on How we help people go to disk judge to optimize the way they working every day and thinking about the use of conversational? I cognitive science technology. Oh Jeez and own alterations in terms of the future works of isolated individuals such as nurses or other individuals. They just don't sit behind a desk everyday totally totally so you know. I really wanted to bring Nick on today Because I think that you know as we are seeing with voice assistance in general. You know you're sort of seeing seen this new evolution where they're moving outside of the home and they're moving into new settings and healthcare is one of the settings that I find to be really intriguing. I think there's a whole lot of opportunity. Eighteen eighty in a wide variety of ways in which voice assistance can be layered into that new setting and so You know the first time I got exposed STA to orbital was an exa conferences ago I met nature or and I saw him speak in and I kinda got exposed to orbit a little bit and so before we really dive into orbit assist. which I know is really sort of like your your baby Can you tell us a little bit about the whole idea of orbiter. Yeah No Otas a fascinating organization. I what they have built at. Its Haas is a platform which allows you to do conversational. Management's using a low code on oak coded Borrowers Managing that conversation. That you WANNA have redid customized And then serving that up via any of the platforms be that Google or Alexa Chat bots web chat or even run analog sards art and that platform allows you to to have really rich management affect compensation and the direction that you want to take your shoes. When you're indecisive is new so so that is a platform was really fabulous when I looked at it at a t knows working group in it and then on top of that we're over it is gone on is starting to think about the vertical platforms that sit really nicely on top of that so I wanted to the spectrum with thinking about search engine optimization nations of voice thinking about voice I how do you win somebody is asking natural language processing question how you present the right answer to them it gives them the information they need and then direct them through a flow so getting your brand to position zero is really important in the voice spots yet yeah no I totally agree with that go on the second vehicle is the assist one ano? We're going to get into that mall. But that's really focused around. How do we use voice in clinical goal setting to support Eisenson noces in communicating with each other And providing that rich information transfer between them. We'll get more into that and then we're really focused on Myron is journey management once. You've left the health environment the hospital environments and you headed harms. How do we support you in sums of opened hearings in sunset Johnny managements as you continued to Move through your journey.
Tech Lead Engineer: Herding Cats & Drinks
"We often talk about our growth path as engineers. One of those pass could be attack need engineer in today's episode. We're joined by I Tony Edwards to help talk with us about the role and responsibilities of a tech lead engineer. Tony can even brief introduction of who you are what you do and in what your favorite happy hour beverages sure I'm Tony. I'm a Sophomore Inter net flicks. I spend about twenty percent of my time coding favorites vagrancy my favorite happy hour beverage is a Manhattan Bliss. You're eighty percent of your time. Doing I help run. Projects and attend meetings readings all right okay interesting. We will definitely be getting into more on that before we do. Let's give introduction of today's panelists jam. You're started off Jamyang senior software engineer Netflix Stacy London senior front and Engineer Atlassian and also a feature lead for the last year plus on a project which isn't discussed later. I'm definitely curious on that High Mars Julian. I'm a front end software engineer at AIRBNB so a little different than nomad had lost and yet. I'm not a netflix anymore. So I'm a little bit sad yeah a little bit sad and I'm Ryan Burgess. I may suffer engineering manager at Net applets in each episode of the Front Unhappy Our podcast. We loved choose a keyword. If it's mentioned it all in the episode we will all take a drink. What do we decide today's keyword. It is projects so we say the word project projects new all take a drink her. Let's jump in. How would you describe what attack lead role engineer love listening listening like that out of attending meetings the little writing code some architect? Ing squishy socks thing softens architect teens not necessarily really soft yeah. It's not but ultimately gotta lean on your fellow engineers but it's important that you set so the broad strokes folks so a lot more like planning and off front work but then letting other engineers run with something yeah you gotTa Transfer People for sure all right anything else that odds that definition. I think it's an interesting I did ask for definition in the first place because I think every company will execute it very very differently and so it's interesting to hear obviously everyone's perspective here. I think we all have a slightly different definition in mind where the like coating to sort of management management ratios might be very very different depending on where you work. I think that's a fair point is they're completely different. Depending on the company say a lead engineer sewing that is honest honest with themselves about the amount of coding they do. Tony said Yeah. I feel like your son no matter what as a tech lead you're likely coating less. I think in general is engineers in years. We overestimate how much coding we do like Oh. You're you're seeing yourself engineering. It's cutting your your pilots seventy eighty percent of the time and it's probably more like sixty percent of the time we we we got a lot of meetings yeah. I I do think as you become more senior and more complexity of your role that grows hashing that's really funny as your coating actually goes down. That's definitely the way I've seen it in in my house yeah and I like put enough. I've had a conversation with our director about this much. Hey you know I it turns out. I'm starting most of my time. I'm doing network which is like writing. Docs meetings and organizing people in wrangling different projects and like. I don't feel like I'm doing my job. He's like that. Is Your job like your job to get stuff done. No matter what it takes sometimes coating more often than not it's not coating and that's kind of what lead engineers do by the way for the word projects as Mars for wholeness countable thin sharp. I think so I mentioned Fisher lead with the introductions and that's a role. I guess I really haven't heard of that particular. Taylor role until I got to a LASSEN and it's not official like role as in like senior engineer and like a future leader or anything like it's an addendum addendum. It's like a thing that you do as senior or you actually be any level and do that particular role but it's like somebody that let's say you take a team. That's pretty big and you break them up into smaller. smaller teams to work on a particular feature so like maybe on on screen. There's like some small. thing like you're building. They are a card that does X. That's a feature you feature lead it and what that really means. You're trying to help the product manager and the designer figure out anything that needs to happen to get that done from like the technical side so they're gonNA define. Maybe what the product manager and the designer according to define like you know what is and what it should look like and you're gonNA figure out the how and it doesn't mean that you wouldn't figure out how with let's say let's say you're on a future team and you have other senior engineers or junior all levels that you're working with. They're gonNA also figure out how to build this thing but you might run interference or maybe make make it so they don't have to go otas many meetings as you do about the technical implementation. see figure stuff out. Maybe a little bit more so that they can just like go and bills and and not have to be distracted too much. I think that's that's one way to think about it. A switch that up by future too is meaning is you could be the the lead on this feature and insulin so it could be on the lead on the next feature like is it something that's kind of interchangeable totally on insult for the last year more than like a future lead on a huge each screen Bisley redoing the entire poll request experience and that is a massive thing. That's like many many many many many features and actually actually to be honest it was it was too much that was me like almost never coating and doing a lot of like interference in all sorts of stuff and recently. We decided to break that up so now we we have many feature lead. You know people from different levels not all senior. I'm just taking over and owning a little piece of that page in working through plus really Likud. I didn't actually know to feature lead was but it sounds very similar to like attack lead lead engineer whatever it is it's very similar but is very narrow focus on on this particular feature year leading this ever yeah. It's really cool. I think another area that we miss maybe defining on how to describe attack lead. They feel like you're dealing a lot more with cross functional teams. I feel like as an engineer. You're always working really closely with your team. Maybe maybe you're working with the PM the designer but oftentimes there's other requirements come across cross functionally. There's like other engineering other disciplines that need to be brought brought in and you might be that person on goes in Shepherd's that and brings a technical perspective to it. He drew clarify cross functional for those who don't speak Silicon Valley. I don't know if it's is just silicon valley but I've not heard that too much. Okay that's fair. I mean cross functional to me means different functions of the business so that might actually be like like I mentioned PM design but it could also be even cross functional engineering teams. There's like A. Ui Team is a back end team Thurs networking team. There's like who knows what your project needs but you might actually be involved in a lot of those discussions where you're talking about okay how does the the back in interface with the Ui how does the backend interface with a database and those are the types of conversations where I feel like a tech lead might be involved. It's some of those meetings that you may not. I have to have all your engineers involved in like if you're a front end engineer you may not want your entire team there but you wanNA representative and to me that someone who is tackling exactly that can represent your team in those discussions that are broader function of the Costume Sean seeds that good jump. That's okay. I'll take it a home uh-huh affair all right well since it's okay. How could you make it better. I would simplify it right I would I would say it comes as different parts of the business that may not be. It's more than one product area so start with you. Did I think you compile all right now. That was project. Project Project Tares when you're a tech lead. You're the ambassador for engineers and you may be the first point of contact that he was ever had with with your team and so it's really important to make really good impression and if you're trying to get something done obviously that's why you're at a meeting with. This person is really important. He said good context high. Make make sure to explain why what you're doing is important because why should why should they help you. You gotTA show them. Show them the lights instead of make them light. It's very you can get people to do what you want by making them do what he wants or from top down. Maybe you can depend on organization do a top down thing but much better to get them to buy into there. You have to convince people that this is a great idea. That's like psychology right like that's that's like that's. I think what's been interesting choosing to about some of the definitions of this very outward facing and there's a lot of metal work involved but there it's been alluded to before here like internally also at least looking internally within your team. engineers are really really good resources for decision making so we've talked architect eating and making decisions based on unlike technologies to move forward with given the long term context in the projects cutoff line. I think there is external and internal responsibilities as house while put yeah. I guess what kind of skills like we kinda talk about some of the responsibilities but like what kind of skills goes into Vena technically you have. I've been around the block engineering wise. You have to see and you have to have failed. You have to have succeeded. You'll have to have done something of a biggest cope before I I like the failure part because you really do learn from all your past failures of like these are the types of questions. I need to ask front so that my team doesn't fail again. I if you don't if you haven't had that experience you might get engineers that are in that that team that you're on there like this is amazing technical challenge. I can't wait to go down a rabbit hole and work on this thing forever and you're like man. Maybe that there might be a different solution. That doesn't happen before I like the I've been around the block that is added to your point failure that is such a big part is like learning what not to do just as important as learning what you should

"ota" Discussed on NFL Live
"This strengthen this roster is kind of, it's kind of like panning out, and then you can sit and develop mature, blah, blah, blah. But he's also saying this, please skin me a reason give me freezing the put this guy in here who everybody thinks everybody says we shouldn't have drafted as high as we did. And I'm gonna put him in there because all indications are in, in OTA's rookie minicamp. He is everything they thought he would be, so, yeah, I definitely think it matters. You don't draft guys that high and have it not matter every single word that you say about him. So get it matters. I would think so it'll be interesting to watch the giants quarterback situation for the first time in quite a while is quarterback situation, Carolina, where Cam Newton is coming off shoulder surgery and his coaches are working with him to change his throwing motion to help prevent future problems with that, sir. Surgically repaired shoulder Josina. How much does it matter that Cam is changing his throwing motion this off season? I'm actually only going to go with a five for this, because it only matters if you get caught in between the old motion and the new most when he's actually in live action summing to draw this again, if Luke can help me put on colored full burqa. My assistant. Van white. Or four five four. So, basically like I said it only about is if he gets caught in between when you're in live action, and then actual defense is not the Panthers facing you, that's when it does. But this is a guy who even the old motion was able to get to the Super Bowl started off hot last year. Six into until it started to buy them, the best thing for doing the new motion is to try to protect the soldier, so it doesn't disintegrate throughout season. Two matter whether or not actually becomes a motion that is committed to his muscle memory meeting, when he doesn't consciously thinking about the me a little bit more over the top does wind up sort of the way it used to look, one of the things that Cam does a lot is the opens his body up in the past in the most becomes along gated. He becomes read because far as his delivery and his accuracy, here, you can see. He's trying to really step to the target really bring the ball up over the top take some of the stress off of the solar, and, but it's that's easy to do when you're throwing like this. That's easy to do when you're not when you don't have the pass rush and there's no pressure when people are. Chasing you down. And, you know, they're after you all of a sudden, your body, does would naturally does. And it goes back the way it used to be the stress comes back on the arm again. Maybe the accuracy starts to suffer again, and we don't know, look, I think, with camp, sometimes we make such a big deal about this guy, as far as he needs to be better in the pocket. He needs a change on motion. He needs to be a better reader. The defense Cam is who he is, which is a fantastic player who came very close to winning the SuperBowl. Right. Enjoy him because you're not gonna see guys like this come along very often unique player, but all eyes will be on quite all there, and that throwing motion when the season gets these Nardi Seth worker show, and now we have him in the flesh. Welcome Seth to the set of NFL live, Seth, and Michael Rothstein. As I mentioned, worked on that story about the demise of the af the start, and the entire lifespan, I guess, the F, which took a few months when you look back on it, you know, in your reporting, somebody says, what's the biggest reason it didn't work. Would you say, well, it's a simple one and that's money. Yeah. And I think it's not only simple because they didn't have enough of it one of the things, but it's also because the guy that they needed the most ended up getting indicted on, on Bank fraud charges, and it left them in a desperate situation. And I think it's like one of these things that we forget about a lot just how expensive football. Yeah, it is really expensive to get off the ground. And they were their budgets were about one hundred million a year..
All aboard the Boris Express
"Sensible Rex it fights off the threat from the insurgent Brexit party. And I have to say that, that is a the job that I believe I'm best suited to do today. Bus Johnson came out fighting yesterday to finally launch his bid the next prime minister as the field of candidates narrows impulsion way out in front can anything derail the bars express. Also this week, we'll be looking at whether any of the contenders promises on Brexit tax cuts, and the economy actually stuck up past all in this week's politics weekly. It was standing remain the at the Notre Johnson's leadership bid yesterday with hard Brexit is and conservative rising stars. All that show support with maybe an on the job in the next cabinet at the time of recording. We don't know who hasn't who hasn't got the sixteen th needs to stay on the list of contenders. But we can probably see in that Johnson Dominic Robb, Jeremy hunt, Michael Savage, avid, and Matt Hancock all on there at the moment. The contest is bosses to lose. Is he really the best man for the job or anything? Well, I'm joined to discuss all this by Isabel Harbin, from the spectator Jonathan list from British influence and politics from the guardian. How do you think the boss when yesterday sort of emerge unscathed sufficiently boring enough? Well, that was certainly a was to make it doll safety, I, which is really the, the theme of borstal since campaign when he's allowed out to speak. The aim is basically to try to make him look a bit more serious politician. And so, in terms of his speech, and in terms of I think the way he answered the questions will didn't answer them in loss of cases. I think his team would have been quite pleased with that. There was one thing that, that over-shadowed it bit thing, which was that some MP's as she heckled journalist for asking Johnson, a very reasonable question about his comments about walking women who were berkers, and it's often the case activists from parties. Get annoyed with journalists for us dear leader inconvenient questions, but it's still quite unusual for MP's to do that. And I'm not God load of welfare candidate. It's very badly for. Candidate. It makes them look defensive as they call something to hide and what I thought made it. Worse was Liz trust. One of Boris Johnson supporters that went on TV to defend her colleagues heckling saying that they were entitled to question the questions of journalists, which, I think it would be much easier. Just to say, I think some of my colleagues over excited here can also himself, the, the idea of being PM. I've been laughed at a few months ago, and an and I think that probably we thought that his colleagues had lost trusted him toy MP's lost trust in him. Particularly his performances foreign secretary. Why are they running behind? This is being quite extraordinary. It's the conservative party completely losing any sense of responsibility for the fate of the nation, the party that used to be the solid, the reliable, the party of government has become wild reckless revolutionary because they think he is the only person who might. Squeak past in general election, and save them from both thorough and from Corbin unsaved, their seats and save that party. He might on the other hand be the final explosive device that blows the whole thing apart. It might be that he is so poorly that if he really does take us out of Europe. Ota no deal that the conservative party makes it self unelectable forever afterwards because of the self inflicted chaos caused, but they reckon that as things stand, he might save them this eat a very low reason choosy. Doesn't. He He seems seems to to have been. been concentrating quite a lot on just on just securing the backing of MP's announcing a thing you know, particularly controversial into things. I think a tax cut and also that he would leave with thirty. I is just him kind of keeping things. Very simple. As best route to success is only seem sort of the moment. If you all the kind of the pole position candidate of your day you won't have any controversy under Johnson is famous for that. And so he's, he's just letting the ship go on. If you like Theresa May to the Cima thing in a way in two thousand sixteen. When she just washed everyone else, self combustion. She was the last person standing there. The problem for Johnson is that he's told the truth extraordinarily when he said that the tour spaced extinction, if it didn't liver Brexit both thirty Tober there is no way on earth. They can deliver Brexit thirty post Tober. There are a couple of weeks parliamentary time after the summer recess where nothing can be done sell you that can. No more renegotiation, and no more led to legislation. And so he's already made a rod for his own back, that the first thing he'll have to do is prime minister is go to the EU and asked to stay in it. So already the trust will be will we smash I can't understand why the Tories don't understand that. And conversely, if you did try to get that no deal. As police said, if you actually went over the cliff, and then Boris Johnson would never be forgiven out the toys, wouldn't either and then parliament, probably humiliates him and try to stop it anyway. So there's really no way through him that he can emerge from this with any kind of credibility whatsoever. Smell somebody other candidates have tried to gain a bit of credibility people like Jamie hunt, and my ankle by saying, actually it's very difficult to leave with no deal deal no deal by thirty because his Dunton's laid out. You know, it's difficult to negotiate in that anything new in that time. And also because parliament is like to stop an ideal Brexit. Do any of those candidates avenue chance of beating him when it comes to the runoff thinking people? Turn me on all the sausage avid month ago. Jeremy hunt or such genital Mike who gave the most light, he might Hancock, he mentioned, this is probably going to get knocked out, either in this round or the next one because he just doesn't have enough of a constituency within the conservative party and his pitch. We went to his launch on Monday, his pitch was slightly crazed or have. Difficult to sort of pinned on what he believed other than motivational aphorisms. I felt like I was spinning class well to relationship. The other say are trying to sort of offer a bit more realistic Brexit plan. And that's tricky in the current Tory party, because the mood in the party is not really one for any further delay. They're still reacting to the procrastination of Theresa May. I'm perhaps, not looking at the situation that she's left the party. And in trying to work out the best way out of that they just don't want anyone who's going to put it off any more, and that's why Boris Johnson. Dominic Robb were the only two candidates who even got auditions before the European research group, which is the, the most Brexit he group in, in the conservative party, and has a huge amount of power, not just in the parliament party. But also, I think amongst the conservative membership. So it's tricky, because I think there is Brexit. Purity contest going on at the moment that doesn't bear a great deal of relation to reality of those putty of, of Michael Savage. Avid, Jeremy hunter DC is having the most. Likelihood of beating Johnson, what I suppose it would be go, if he can recover from the ca- Cain hypocrisy, which really sunk him oughta rolls astonishing. But maybe he can be forgiven in which case he's much the strongest contender. He knows burst back front if he really decides to put the knife in again, as he did last time he could be very effective when one of the candidates, not really talking about a tool anymore. She was quite strangest Dominic Robb. Who did you know sort of seen as maybe he could be the true Brexit tier candidate when Boris you know, it folded early than him said he was gonna vote trees may deal. But he's lost all of that year. G support to Boris what he used on the sue the winner under Johnson is going to match rob pound for pound in Brexit. Then those no reasons about rob who is much less sympathetic charming character. You have question marks over his personal character, which haven't quite been addressed. And who is has the kind of eight. Tori. Boy thing about him bay, which is going to not be particular turn, onto the tweet party was certainly not to the wider electric. Yes. So that's always don't since we've not now all the space is really ain't rob is also tainted, his, he didn't leave the cabinet obviously, after the check is agreement that was Boris, who did that? And, and Boris Johnson is therefore able to, to claim that he is more Brexit Pierce. We come back to this incredible sort of holy Brexit. Contest is going on the Johnson survived. The backstop no one's talking about the box December. Twenty seventeen Theresa May sign us up to customs union a great time. Johnson was he knew what it was. And then after extraordinarily when he left the company said he didn't know what it was. So he was basically saying that he was the gullible stupid or liar. I didn't seem to matter because he's tashaun. It's fascinating how there's actually a higher bar for the behavior of all the other candidates part from Boris. Johnson is something his team say the whole, always purse. Life is priced in. It's almost as though he could actually have killed people. And that would also trunks shooting Fifth Avenue, the front runners who've said that they are the two, I suppose we, if we still count rob amongst the front runners that they've said that we prepared to take the UK out of the EU with no deal on October thirty first Burston Dominic Robb, the others of, of sort of said that they think it's possible that parliament would be up to stop that. But we saw yesterday at there was an opportunity for parliament to set in motion for that to be another to at least reserve another date to try and pass a law to stop it. And Isabel some people listening and probably anyone who's not been following this with the minute detail of a full-time job gonna find it quite quoted to hear that it was defeated last night, feels like parliament's voted against no deal. Quite a few times, and what can you maybe you could explain to me about what happened last night? Here's those interesting topics going on last night. You had a group of conservative MPC voted with labour on this vote, which was to allow Paul. Lament to rule out no deal in future vote just to complicating confuse matters even further. But then you had a group of labor MP's, who voted with the government people like katoey, who obviously, managed to enrage their policy on, on regular basis, with their with that Brexit views, and you also had a number of ubstantially as well. And so this is turned the labor party in on itself again, with the very pro remain pro second referendum, anti no do, and, like, Ben Bradshaw, friends since turning on their colleagues and saying how much they've let the party downs. We, we've got another labor split here. This is a big boost to those candidates. He believe parliament actually won't stop new deal. I suppose it is if, if there is a mechanism for stopping teaches clear what that make an ISM could be done that all of the people like all of let win been out this morning that the Taurean peon and the former Tory bowl saying that this was the last chance, there are no more assigned opposition day debates. Which the government has to grant, but in power to grant labor time to have debates on things where they want, but those, those days of now, run out, and there's also no obvious legislation going through parliament for for amendments to be attitude that could stop no deal. So what is the root pop from a confidence vote without is the nuclear button, the confidence. But I think that we need to look at John berko hear abo- cove is cost himself as some kind of maverick revolutionary when it sees him, and he is prepared to cost aside, conventions and rewrite the rulebook. I mean, I'm not an expert in, in three parliamentary etiquette and protocol. So I don't know exactly how much power he has. But it seems that he can rewrite us in may sort of as he goes along. So if he decides if parliament has a will, to introduce legislation, very quickly as cupid early this year, and they all given an opportunity to vote for that. I just can't see any way which was say no. The procedure says, unfortunately, what happened last night is that. Parliament decided not to have the opportunity, it'll make it very difficult. I think for berko to devise anything also you're asking him to do something way out of anything he's done so far. I think we're going to end up with whether there will be enough conservative MP's willing to bring the house down willing to have a virtual no-confidence in what who will presumably be Boris MP appear them and a call for general election. And I just don't know when it comes to it, whether the likes of people who have very anti Brexit, whether they'll really go that for what do you think is about? Do you think enough of them to actually agree with? That would be if you get government. And then in the confidence that you lose it. Yeah, I think that is your way basically saying, I've it with the conservative party who knows that things are quite Phibro at the moment till they, there is less of a thirst for leaving parties given. What's happened to change? You K because I think that stuff Shane, how difficult it is to, to go to loan from a big structure this being rumbling along for many decades labor LaTour. He's, I suppose we can, we also have to see what happens over the course the leadership contest. If Boris Johnson has heart and his position over summer to try and win over very hard. Brexit. Selectric una comes parliament is still sitting at the end of July, when he's elected then that could be the moment where his colleagues, Dominic grieve just in greening, maybe say in office enough. You're going to take on the touch toba. We know having it. And then you trigger that election, when there's still time to stop no deal. Three months later, but they will not be allowed to stand as conservative. I mean that only. Seats are there enough of them, we don't sacrifice their careers for the sake of the country? And that's what it'll come to possibly. There are enough noble minded people willing to do that. I mean, I guess one of the things that we haven't touched on his whether it's it is possible for any of these candidates to get any kind of new deal bioterr- thirty. I, I mean, we of laughing about that. But if it comes to the crunch, d think that there are people who maybe didn't believe Theresa May was prepared to take that with no deal. But may believe that someone I on snus. Well, this is the line that the sort of the Boris style candidates of news, the European Union, saying they're not going to reopen the withdrawal agreement, they're not going to start renegotiating any way. They say will they would say that wouldn't they that's kind of, you know, they're starting line in the Goshi -ation, and perhaps studies, the stance, the European Union, that will then fold when suddenly this new powerful conservative leader comes in, but even. The leadership candidates who claim they're trying to be more realistic like Jeremy hunt, for instance, still saying they want to reopen the withdrawal agreement. So all of them are prompting something that according to what has been said, so far is not realistic. How would it look from Europe? The EU is tied to these games it's actually written into the extension that you can't renegotiate withdrawal agreements that is put, so the box office and changing the only thing in might be able to. And this is a purse is to renegotiate a political declaration, which isn't going to be enough, because it has no legal way. But more importantly, there are only two things you can do the political declaration, the first is to soften it. So you explicitly asked to negotiate accustomed on a single market, which is obviously not help any, the Tories or you hard in it in the pad on the backstop, just Northern Ireland and not cleaves the concert. India's partying one clean slice. So there's nothing that they can do, which will help them tool on the backstop is simply not of negotiation. It's only use political interest to sacrifice its. Leverage for a prime minister. He hates them and the feelings mutual. Thanks willie. Back after this.

"Again, a reminder that is organized team activities and you can see the map the teams that are on the field as we speak. We're having to have you with us on this Wednesday afternoon. Wendi nix field Yates Victor Cruz. Louis riddick. We will start this afternoon in the Lone Star state as we mentioned the Cowboys are among the fifteen teams on the field today for OT as Ezekiel Elliott did participate. He was also asked about a recent incident in Las Vegas, captured by TMZ sports that showed Elliott, shoving and pushing a lodging, Agha's security guard. He was not arrested charged. The video of Zeki. Oh Elliott surfaced. And have you spoken to him about that? I've no real comment beyond just being aware of the situation and Steven Jones spoke on behalf of the organization, the other day. Tat Archer covers the Cowboys. He joins us now Todd. How is Dallas dealing with the latest situation surrounding Zeke Elliott? Pretty much business as usual here. Wendy, the, the Cowboys going through their second OTA practice of the off-season. Zeke is out here doing everything. The individual worked at teamwork taking his last carrier last play of each period. Sixty seventy yards to the end zone. And as you heard Jason Garrett would not get did not want to comment on what happened in Las Vegas. Referring, Stephen Jones. We talk Steven Jones on Monday. He said, this would not impacting impending negotiations for the running back. They still believe him. They have a lottery spec for Zeke and they want to sign him up long term. But right now, they're focused is on Amari Cooper Dak Prescott, they will to get something seek, but so far, that's, that's where the Cowboys are heading business as usual. With Zeke Elliott a long to do this several changes by the way to the Cowboys offense you've got a new offense coordinator in new quarterback codes chasing. Whitten is back. How does all of that affect the quarterback Dak Prescott? Yeah, I asked Jason Garrett that question here today during the press conference about if they have to do more with this offense because of the new faces even if Jason ga- Jason witnessed an old face. But Randall Cobb is here came from Green Bay Kellen more than new offensive coordinator implementing some changes as offense John kidnapped quarterback. Coach really getting on Dak Prescott about his foot work, and his mechanics and trying to make sure that is straight. So there's a lot to do here even though this is an offense that Elliott's in his fourth year Prescott entering his fourth year that offensive line, the core of that guy been around for a long time, the receivers still kind of getting used to tackle the Mari Cooper, but there's a lot of work for this Cowboys offense to go through here, early in these OTA's, because they know that you have to do a much better job in twenty nine hundred if they wanna Vance further in the playoffs tied. Thank you. And Victor, I will start with the because we had a chance with failed and Louis discuss this yesterday. But look, again, I want to be clear, there were no charges filed. It wasn't arrested but he's e Elliott has had a history of sort of being in the wrong place at the wrong. Would it? Give you pause. If you were the Cowboys and you were discussing a long term deal, not necessarily understand, you know where he is. He wasn't arrested. This incident didn't have any legal ramifications. But the only thing I take away from that is the video after watching it. He was by himself. There wasn't any friends. There wasn't any around him. Anyone around him? There wasn't anyone that seemed like he knew or was around for him to take care of him. When he's out in about in public, places like this he has to understand that he is Zeke Elliot and that no matter where he goes, he needs to have someone there, even if it's just a best friend security, bodyguard, whatever it is. He needs to have someone there to watch him and make make sure that he's okay. And that he's held accountable for the things that he's doing that. He's in a positive state of mind, and that he's in a positive state no matter where he goes, clearly this could've escalated. It doesn't look like it did was pretty, but it could have been a lot worse than to your point. You want to have a circle around you to help you make good..

"Like I said to bring a right kind of p Glenn here we think that can build championship football team because the most loyal fans in the world and I know it hurts that we might not be the Oakland raiders forever but we are still raider nation. I think it's going to be hey everyone it's Heidi Fang here along with our readers beat writer Michael Belkin we're in person here last two working at the Oakland Raiders Headquarters Allen Mita Michael Today being the first day of otas on this Tuesday evening and looking forward to seeing the whole team finally kind of working as a unit what their chemistry looks like of course today just being the first day voted as we didn't really get a full scope of that but what was your immediate takes on looking at the him on the field while I think it's pretty obvious certain positions are going to be a lot more competitive this year and just to go offense and defense offensively at Rec- ever although Antonio Brown was on field he's been extremely active throughout this voluntary work workout program is expected to rejoin teammates in relatively short order Britain didn't specify why Antonio Brown at practice but it doesn't seem to be a particular concern but still you look at that depth chart out wide receiver Anders Antonio Brown there's Tyrone Williams there's Ryan grant there's Hunter Renfro they kind of go go down the list includes also rookie free agent Keelan dos who could make things interesting come training camp in the preseason it's a really competitive group with that competition comes the obstacle of building chemistry which it falls on every single one of those receivers also Derek Carr but when you see car lobby deep paths for Tara Williams he catches in stride for fifty five yard touchdown it certainly bodes well for the future nice little flash that came early here in not as and I would say defensively cornerback Loyd that is going to be a competitive group you know you look at Nick Nelson Guy who played a considerable amount as a rookie fourth round pick in two thousand eighteen I mean he might not make the fifty three man roster if everyone shows up as it could I mean how many corners can you keep how many DB's can you keep that's GonNa be really interesting to see and so we had Darryl Worley was rotating in I saw limited reps on Tuesday because he's coming off the shoulder surgery up Garin Conley was healthy Drafted a couple of quarterbacks lamarcus joyner looks really good as a nickel corner so on and on you go that quarterback group in particular should be much improved you talked about Derek Carr and his improvement and that Balmy through to Tyrel Williams here so my question is in this Susan can we expect not just to see Derek Carr elevate his game but to see an elevated game on offense altogether with the weapons the offensive line the addition of Trent Brown how improve do we expect this raiders offense to be it should be much improved I think a huge thing for this offense for a car is the cotton constancy in the system where he's not learning a new system it's you know Jon Gruden still here he's got the same play caller uh-huh Derek Carr had four different playcallers in his first five seasons in the NFL in so now with Gruden obviously back in going anywhere really afford Sircar chance to get comfortable and it's ironic now that Derek Carr has some constancy on offense but rare to really press the reset button on his receipt record. I mean these number one tight end right now is someone that they're really excited about during waller but it's just been such limited playing time of for Waller overall in his NFL career and with the raiders he was a November arrival when they signed him off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad so Things look pretty good on paper I think there's a high ceiling but still there's a lot of work that needs to be done in order to get this whole thing together with Oj's being the first time that players are actually in helmets this off season it's the first time that offensive and defensive players are able to go against each other in drills all of those you know chemistry those types of things and Constancio in terms of just knowing that you're throwing the past the runway routes and just kind of reading between the lines some of those agencies that come into being football players and being teammates all that is now starting underway and again you are listening to the Vegas Nation podcast with Michael Can Heidi Fan you can find us online at review journal Dot com slash podcast and anywhere you find your podcast subscribe drops align let us know what you think about this show and how we're doing and I'm very excited about this particular episode not just because we're her in person together finally getting to talk just face to face but also because we will be joined by Doug Martin who's had interesting offseason an interesting day it taking all the first team reps with Derek Carr after Josh Jacobs Kinda exited the field what happened there so we don't really know exactly what the relation is involving Josh Jacobs but he was on the field stretching and it be it for whatever reason the he win doors following the stretch periods so that left in the speaking of competition the raiders running back group is going to be pretty interesting I talked to Doug Martin a little bit about that but he spoke about just the opportunity that he had on Tuesday which is emblematic of the opportunity that he had last season where marshawn lynch suffers a seasoning growing injury in October and Doug Martin carry the load thereafter and for someone who many people discarded as kind of being done as an NFL player Doug Martin show that he's still got a lot in the tank average more than four yards per carry on season he had more than a hundred Russia one hundred or more yards or the final two games of the season and so on Tuesday it was next man up and Doug Martin who's pretty good in the passing game show that again on Tuesday he answered the call and he's kind of a Ninja it gets to the goal line like he can get into little rockets and holes that I don't think a lot of people see him coming there you're expecting like a power back to kind of take that role on but Doug Martin he's finds his way in in and he he can really leap to I remember a couple times last year where he leapt over the pile and I was really impressed so Doug Martin we will have him here a bit later on the show but where do you you think the most interesting you mentioned the competition at running back where do you think the most interesting competition will be for this team I think cornerback really interesting The backup quarterback quarterback as well you know who's GonNa be the number two Mike Lennon saw some work there but Nathan Peterman figures to figure commonly that as well we'll see what sort of competition lend you Jones toward pushy can make I wide receivers can be really interesting you really throughout this roster the way it should be ideally in May that should be difficult question to answer because there are so many spots that pop up in defensive line Eddie van or dose who is he in the NFL you know he had a rookie season or played a lot of snaps and then the two thousand seven nineteen third round pick in the very last quarter of the final game of the season terraces acl worst possible time because how the eats into your offseason and into your ensuing season suffered a setback in training camp and missed the entirety of two thousand eighteen because of it you know how did he figure into the this defensive line rotation or on the depth chart can you make this fifty three man roster at all you know if he's a very confident in the readers confident in what he can do but we're going to see a lot terms of that left guard who's going to be the man there the competition for Denzel good might not currently be in the building a raiders figured assign someone there Frenchie incognito visited this month so I go on and on about the competition on his roster but it should be should be really good throughout in we even got a competition he said he's willing to play anywhere on that line right now I think he's still at left tackle so he did say that he'd be willing to shift around but I would like to see him in a role the would kind of behoove him not just for his experience and what he can do but for the offensive line as a whole so Trent Brown Colton Miller Gabe Jackson You mentioned Denzil good and of course.

It may have been broken up into different pieces. But you've heard over the last hour and a half the entire press conference. From a Vietnam. And there is no deal. They United States walked away early said. Nope, we're we're we're done. They still set extremely friendly with Kim Jong UN it's just they wanted the sanctions lifted that's going to happen because we can't get what we wanted this point. He wasn't ready, but everybody was still happy. There seemed to be no anger whatsoever. No, I know about it whatsoever. They the the president and Mike Pompeo did not oversell to the world. What was what was accomplished or what wasn't a accomplished? And I believe it was a good thing. And he said, look, it can take a short time could take a very very very long time. But we're going to get what we want here. And and I think that probably it's a message that for most people in the United States will will be taken in a good way. Which is okay. Good. You can't get what you want president said. And I talked a little bit the president said, but we cut it out a deal. It just wouldn't about the deal. We wanted right? Like well. Yeah. You could have said we're just gonna take off sanctions completely and build your nukes. Right. You could sign a deal for that. Now. Well, that wasn't going to happen or you could do past administrations have done and say, yeah, okay. We'll let the sanctions, and we really hope you're being honest with us, exactly. And and that wasn't going to happen. When you look at the when you look when they talk about body language, you look at the face of a Mike Pompeo, and he's all business, very serious all business. But you know,.
