Ana Navarro Slammed for Citing Disabled Relatives to Justify Abortion

"I'm continuing my discussion of the left's reaction to the Supreme Court decision overturning roe versus wade. In a very peculiar episode, Anna Navarro went on CNN and began to make a list of her family members who are mentally handicapped. She goes, oh, I got a cousin who has down syndrome, I've got an aunt who has this. And the remarkable implication that she of a comment was, would it be cool if all these people were aborted? I mean, I don't know any other way to read it because she was talking about abortion, and I think what she was saying is that we as a family have had to support all these characters. And this is a very odd thing to say. In fact, I think it's very unusual for moms who have children with disabilities to take the view that they would be better off dead. And I'm trying to think, why would someone like Anna Navarro even go there? I mean, is there a matter of family inheritance involved? And these people are sort of standing in the way, very insensitive, and even SE kapus, who is on CNN with Anna Navarro, who I believe has a child who has some disabilities, she jumped in and goes, this is too much. We can take whatever position we have on abortion, but let's not go here.

"It was kind of hilarious to watch They were painting the Senate race which Doctor Oz why I support the Republican and you know in any race regardless of your feeling about doctor Rossi's far better than that Bernie Sanders lunatic running in that race But you remember everybody's like wow he's more of a moderate and mastery is no chance whatsoever but the odd thing is you're polling actually ahead of it I'm not asking you to go after him at all I'm just saying you're polling actually ahead of where he's falling which always goes to show you the media you can almost be guaranteed they're going to get the story wrong when evaluating a Republican every single time And it's funny I don't know if you were tracking this And thank you for your words of encouragement there over the past couple of months here when I've been so laid by the media You know you're doing the right thing I appreciate Teddy Roosevelt says you could judge a man's character by whose enemies are So thank you very much Media for that But last year the Democrats the DNC worked with the Democrat legislative campaign campaign YouTube blacklist 21 state legislators and I was number one on their hit list So this all came out in the salon of political article this past November And they viewed me as a threat to their plans in Pennsylvania and decided to attack me with talking points with all the mainstream media and their goal was to hit me so bad publicly that I'd resign and shame They did a poll in November and they are appalled at the results They saw my negatives or single digits and they said not only did it make him more popular in a state he's a lead candidate for governor like no kidding Thank you very much We watched this with Donald Trump We're not going to fall for it a second time

SCOTUS: Constitution Protects Right to Carry a Gun Outside the Home

"That monumental Second Amendment Supreme Court case came down today that basically is gonna make it really hard for far left states to stop you from acquiring a concealed carry weapons permit in these states It's as simple as that My stance is the constitution is your in fact your Gary permit But a lot of these liberal states are going to do the best they can to keep firearms out of the hands of law abiding people because they don't want you to protect yourself They want you to be in hock to the government that the police department they want to defund which is kind of odd Only the police should have guns But defund them too kind of a strange take isn't it But if you're a liberal you wake up every morning and you reconcile that and that makes sense to you somehow Why I don't know I've stopped trying to get into your heads I can't figure out stupid and I don't want to be accepted in the village of the stupid The worst thing that can happen is to walk into a village of idiots and then be like yes our king has arrived You are one of us No no I'm not I'm not I don't want to be your king I don't want to be your subject I don't want anything to do with a village of imbecile I don't want to try to understand you guys You can't have a gun to protect yourself The police will do it but we should defund them too makes perfect sense

And I just use that in those terms it praised pocket pays proper homage to those who were in the original Top Gun. It doesn't make like they was it never happened. It very much is interwoven into this whole sequence of this movie. And this issue of having a friend matters. Now, we remember in the original Top Gun iceman, kazansky and Pete Mitchell maverick were at odds. They were competitors that were doing just what I said in the previous is they were pushing each other that you always needed someone to push you someone I were to push you out there into, you know, to not fear failure, but to actually get out there and do it. The Economy Is on the Pathway to a Recession

"The news yesterday is the news as it was all week. The economy sucks because Joe Biden is president. Recession fears grow is down closes below 30,000 in mortgage rates spike. That is the headline in The Washington Post. So the second headline fed's full tilt inflation fight makes a softish landing harder to achieve. The already slim odds writes the Financial Times Colby Smith in Washington, D.C., of the Federal Reserve bringing down inflation without causing a painful economic downturn, took another leg lower on Wednesday as the U.S. Central Bank embraced what is said to be the most aggressive campaign to tighten monetary policy in decades. And that led that led to the Dow going down 741 points to close at 29 92. That's below 30,000. It was never below 30,000. I don't think under Trump. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Andrew McCarthy: Jan. 6 Committee Did Not Set up a Fair Process

"Andy McCarthy with Bill hemmer yesterday talking about what this January 6th select committee witch hunt is really all about. Yeah, this is not the committee that you're going to have suddenly Liz Cheney. You say, wait, this seems unfair. Maybe we need to look at other evidence. It has to be introduced as well. So it really brought a sort of an odd conclusion because it sort of emphasized, there isn't anyone to object. Same question, Annie McCarthy. Well, it was a much tighter presentation today because it was centered around one theme, this whole idea of stop the steal. And what they're trying to emphasize obviously is that the point they want to make is that Trump must have known that there was nothing to this because everybody around him who was credible was telling him it was nonsense and there was nothing there. As I've said from the beginning, they've got a very good story to tell. The problem is they've set it up in a process that is not a fair process that's aimed at getting to the truth and giving whatever contra arguments there are their day in court. And as a result, it's more like messaging than it is like a real investigation. And if you would try this in court, I could have been very impressive in court if there were no defense lawyers, you know? If you liked it. If you liked the government put on its own case, own witnesses own exhibits and then no cross examination and no defense arguments. I'd have been a thousand and

Liz Cheney Claims '2000 Mules' Has Been 'Debunked'

"I saw a clip from Liz Cheney yesterday, basically saying that 2000 mules had been debunked. Here is Liz Cheney saying that. And this, Donald Trump now, quote, clings to more fantastical theories. Such as dinesh d'souza's debunked 2000 mules. Even as recounts in Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin confirm Trump lost. No. This is a very odd way to operate. You've got people who merely assert things. And then, of course, I look on social media. Man, Liz Cheney really obliterated dinesh. How'd she obliterate me by just dating? First of all, what does Liz Cheney know about any of this? Has she even seen the movie? But I somehow just this kind of solemn proclamation film has been debunked. And of course, presumably if she was going to produce any sort of documents on this, they'll be like a footnote with AB fact check, fill the bump of The Washington Post, political fact. And so I thought it'd be worth going into this a little bit because I want to review some of the main lines of the so called debunking. Just to show how shallow they are. I don't even have to show a shallow day. I just have to show that this, that this is very debatable material. This is something that needs to be engaged. You can not merely pontificate about it. It needs to be argued out. And this is really something that's not happening. It's not happening really anywhere. I mean, it's not happening on Fox News. A Fox News isn't a really weird position. They're like, let's not talk about 2000 meals. Oh, but we're now covering the hearing. So we now have to cover Bill Barr disputing 2000 mules because we have to go to cover and lose Cheney with her Liz Cheney's not gonna laugh. She never laughs. Very solemn. There's been debunked. And yet foxes then has to stop there because, you know, can mention 2000 meals. Let's reiterate that people might not have heard what happened with the cops. Because the media is trying to make it all about taking our guns away. What happened involving was a teacher illegally leaves a door propped open the schools in August. Biden Turns to OPEC for Help

"Want to get to one of the things that's driving all this inflation. And that's oil prices, crude oil, ending the day up 2% and a $117 and change. What have I said? I've said a 130 by the height of the summer driving season. So I'm still on the lookout for that. I think it could be coming July 4th. And this is despite the news that we got today out of OPEC. You see the Biden administration has been working really, really, really hard. Trying to get Saudi Arabia who kind of like runs the show right over at OPEC. To pump more oil. Drill more oil. You don't get it out of the ground and onto the open market. In Saudi Arabia, in part because they aren't tremendous fans of this administration. Well, they've been pretty reluctant to do that. So there's been a lot of pleading and a lot of diplomats going back and forth. And we've sent people over and we're like, hey, you know, we really need this one. So come on, Saudi Arabia. Go for it. So now Saudi Arabia apparently has said, okay, we've been persuaded. They're willing now to up their oil production. So by what? 600 and some odd thousand barrels a day. They're going to put into the open market. So you'd say, all right, well, that's good, right? That's actually going to lower the price of oil. And yet here we are. With the price oil, up 2% on the day, this whole thing is announced. Antonio, the oil markets are on fire, and they're going to continue running higher because of some pretty basic stuff. We lack a commitment to energy that's drilled here in the United States.

"Lots of stuff going on guys with 2000 mules and I thought I would give you a little survey or update on various things happening, first of all, we had a successful theatrical release dispersed weekend. Very unusual. Normally, you release in the theater first, and you do later DVD later a digital download, even later, streaming, this was a very odd release plan all jumbled in which we did we did a very limited theatrical and the virtual premiere and then we did digital download and streaming and then now back in the theater so by 400 theaters and we took in about three quarters of a $1 million, which is a lot because we're mainly in these smaller independent theaters. And so typically when theaters gauge how a movie is doing, they look at what's called the per screen average. How are you doing in one theater per screen? And by that ranking, we were actually number three in the country. Think about this. This is a political documentary. A, it's hard enough to get it in the theater. B, it's hard enough to get people to go see it's hard enough to compete with major Hollywood films, and yet we're able to do that. So we're going to continue in the theater this next week and weekend. We'll probably be in about the same number of theaters, maybe about three 50. And it's great, mostly independent theaters or some theaters from cinema markets. It's kind of a

So I'll ask you another question then in light of that, and I have no idea what you'll say, but my assumption is that they don't all share your views on life. Oh, definitely. They do not. Many of them don't. So this is a very nice thing to hear, actually, and it's because it's a big problem in a lot of people's lives. Where friendships of decades are lost and even even family members are alienated because of political social moral differences. How do you explain you and your friends? Well, look, let me just start off by saying, I have certainly suffered some losses since I've become conservative and been publicly conservative. I have lost several friends. So that is definitely happened to me. But what I will say about these friends now, as I mean, maybe this sounds self impressed to say, but I'm a really good friend. And I think that my friends just see that. They see that I love them. They see that I'm completely supportive of them. And again, in the spirit of full honesty Dennis, women are competitive with one another, not every woman wishes another woman well. That's just a little secret. I'll let you in on. We saw the same thing with detroit san francisco. They look pretty good for a little while and then they got blown our right. So rogers was great. He took what they gave him in the first half they. They went cover to dared him to run the ball and stick to the shortstop any did he was smart and in the second half. He unloaded couple of great deep passes. One the divide on the money's pin. You couldn't throw it any better. And he was guarded. Well like where need be right. There was nowhere else. You could throw that ball from to make that play. Yup and that. That's one of those where you just look. And you say my god. How did he throw that. It was it was a tremendous pass and reminded you these air rodgers but he said after the game right he. He did not look. He went after the trolls. Here's what he said. He said he thinks a mom. I just think people like to say a lot of and it's nice to come back in here after a game like that even more now than when i started playing there's so many overreactions that happened on a week to week basis. A s i got washington and nfc south. Gimme tampa bay buccaneers. Nfc north green bay packers. I got the pack pro. That's great guys but you know there are seven teams in each conference. They make the playoffs. And we only got four. So we're need your wildcard picks for the afc. Starting with you. chris broussard baltimore. Ravens indianapolis colts and in a si- in a shocker to some the new england patriots yes mag jones. why into the playoffs. Rob parker great. Let's see parker. I'm willing to say the browns. The titans and raiders. Wow that's right. Why are your nose. Milwaukee jon gruden. The going there is that they have to win issue. This is big for jon gruden. And they've started well and not have been able to finish the job. I'm going to pick the raiders to make the alabama pick so the only difference. You guys have in the play. Offs is the patriots and the raiders. Other than that you have all the teams just different. It's pretty what rob. Gee i hate to be like cookie cutter ba- looking at these teams in just. It looks pretty obvious to me better teams. I think this year. I think the division only division well of the buffalo. We agreed on on seven right. Everybody but new england as you said in the raiders. I think personally. I think indianapolis even though i picked them. I think derek question mark obviously new england could be a question. Mark and and the raiders. Because like i think denver is going to be better than people think. And i think pittsburgh i really think they have a shot at the. I'd like i think they're going to be better than people expect. Dashes what mike. Tomlin does and But yeah i mean. I went with my seven i feel good about. I really feel good about new england because that defense is going to be really good dante. Hightower's back Calvin is back matt. Judy john is there. The office of line is great. I think the running game is going to be strong and mack. Jones is a good decision. Making he's gonna have ups and downs like any rookie. But i think he's just going to manage the game and he could make some big plays here and there. So i like new england and bill. Look i've always be there rob. You know they've. I've been i've highlighted the fact that he's missed the playoffs seven and eight years he hadn't had time brady but i think this will be a second year that he makes it brady. Yeah i don't know. I just a rookie quarterback. I don't know what to expect a really. Don't and i just think that the raiders have more on the line. I mean there's some mike mayock. Even if they don't get rid of chucky you know it's not going to be people aren't going to be satisfied with four straight years of not making the playoffs and odd last year. I don't know rob g. Were they offensively. They were they score. Your early night is probably why jon gruden. No that's what i'm saying. Like they score points and they just weren't able to finish the job so i just i don't know that that's one of my little wildcat picks. But i'm gonna go with the raiders. Right we move on now to the nfc. This one's a little bit tougher to call. Chris wildcard teams in the nfc. I've got two teams of two wild card teams from the nfc west. Which i think is tough is division in the league. So i got san francisco and seattle joining the rams in the playoffs for ned division and then new orleans i say i think james winstons shock some people and have a very good year and so i got their new orleans is eight and one in the last two years without drew brees so people are sleeping on him. I think they're gonna be woke awoken in violent fashion. I think this is the year that seattle falls off from not picking them to make the playoffs. I'm going to go with the rams based on their defense. I'm going to put them in the playoffs. I'm gonna go with the box hard to repeat but they're good enough to make the playoffs and what on the one more right one more wild card team hip. I'm going to pick the minnesota vikings. Now that's a good pick. I think they're gonna be. They got a shot. I don't know what last year they were. Awful every game like they were supposed to win. You know they just couldn't do it. And and it's all about defense with the vikings and they were just god awful a year ago defensively. i don't know where they ranked again. We only well. We disagree on two teams right washington and minnesota correct right. Yep no love for marin weiss's arizona cardinals man out remember that more than soil themselves. Remember that i'm hoping they'll make another jordan bed. That's easy easy money got any. I'm curious from your. How about. I mean you're outta pick. We still gotta finish off right. We still got the anticipation built along. I wanna ask you wildcard rob wildcard. Okay you're wildcards. Well i would have for instance with us. Yeah why would have had dallas winning their division. I think that having the best quarterback is usually a good signed for any team. If you're in a division where there's no clear and obvious favourite me has the better defense though. See what has a better defense didn't really have. A quarterback was all over the place last year. I don't know if that's the only reason why believe if it's patrick. I just think that he'll work for awhile with that. But that weren't good. yeah week. Four tyler hickey. Taylor will actually have both of those teams in the playoffs. I have one of them change coming from the nfl and yet. Here's the pushback creeks. Chris has three teams in the nfc west. I think that division is going to cannibalize itself. Ever there's going to be no easy victory. Why and any of those games so you could see all three teams like nine and seven heading into week seventeen because they all beat up on each other move. I think one of them's going to have a big record. What y'all to walk in the nfc in the nfc you got. I got washed. Boys wanted to division and then wash- washington seattle new orleans. Yeah everybody likes new orleans. I do too. I think that new orleans can be good. Well new orleans is you know. It's sneakily the last two years and you really thought the puppies. They've been at defensive team. The last two threats last year through four or five games they average given up like a points go back in the middle of the season. They were good and they've got one of the best football players of all time chase them who he start. Best player doesn't even star amazing and on that note it's time for the afc. You didn't give us. Did you want my you want my afc. Just a while. Taking the raiders to make the playoffs homer. How am i homer because you know. Gooden welding okay while you know what they were like two plays away from winning. You know ten games last. You've been saying that for eight years. Yes it's true. I got the raiders. I have the cleveland browns. And the new england patriots. So you got baltimore winning the division and buffalo. Yeah yep right. England you're with me are and on that note my nobody pick miami nobody to expect in you know what to expect down in either. That's a bad part quarterbacks. I super bowl here. We go in the rare rematch. I got tampa bay getting out of the nfc again and i've got kansas city getting out of the afc again. I think the chiefs throwing the mission. They remind me their mindset reminds me of san antonio after they lost that championship to miami in two thousand thirteen in the nba finals and came back with a vengeance. And i believe kansas city wants tampa bay. And they'll get him and this time. The chiefs will prevail. I got kansas city over tampa bay in a rematch. If kansas city doesn't win does that change anything with mahomes if they don't get to the super bowl or don't win as far as what him being Michael jordan no. I mean he's not michael jordan yet but he's still got plenty of time so i'm just sorting didn't win it every year win it. Every did definitely won't win at every. Nfl teams be so hard to get back and repeat. There will be to the same team from a year just very hard to do the nfl too. Many things happen. I'm going to go with the ravens and the packers and the super bowl. That's my pick with aaron rodgers winning a super bowl on his way out of green bay and that'll be the way he puts a bow on that and moves forward and then he's free to go wherever you want. So that's going to be the big story line. And lamar gets out of the afc. Finally so there it is. I'm going off the board the packers and raven way off the board big. Let's not everybody's picking up the everybody's picking the rams every pigging aram summer picking the pack some tampa bay it's mostly tampa bay and the rams the stuff that i've seen who you pick it rob. What's your super bowl. I got the kansas city chieftains and the la rams wide. He's a stafford guy big guy. Wow so when you gotta win. I i have the rams winning. Wow look at you so yesterday you were just smart man. I'm peter king you ask you were just. There are certain things that travel well no matter what time of year no matter what stadium and that's defense and i don't trust the chiefs defense. I don't trust green. Bay's defense is shaky and tampa bay. She's read like rob said. It's very very very unlikely for team to repeat as champions league last take guests who the last quarterback to do it. Was tom brady. Yeah about fifteen years ago. He's out and he wasn't a long. It's been a long time right. He's better now but they got looked at a first team in the salary. Cap era to return all twenty two starters. "Of the odd couple with chris bruce and rob harker and tj. Tom brady had some comments about how the rules are slanted in the nfl. Basically to make offense better. We saw change about ten or twelve years ago when they just protected the quarterback and protected the wide receiver and the db's in defense was that are being held back basically and can't do what they used to do. And you played in the era. When pop and quarterbacks get knocked out of games all the time and now they've soften everything for the offense because they want more points they believe. That's what fans want. Let's hear tom brady and then tj. I want to hear your thoughts. The one thing about football that's changed over. The years which i think is really hard for someone like muse played a long time to watch like they're not being taught the right way like a quarterback should only throw the ball at a certain places because your receiver is endanger getting hit for example when i used to play against ray lewis. I wouldn't throw the ball to the middle of the field because he would he go after you. And he would hit like we didn't always had the biggest receivers but he would hit them and knock him out of the game and now any every hard. Hit is a penalty on the defense. I feel like they penalized defensive players offensive mistakes. Dj your thoughts from tom brady. I agree with them and brady. If i had been in new england you could thrown across the middle. Because i wasn't afraid to take those hits just. fyi. I wanna play man. You be you'd be living in beverly hills with with the money you make you know what i'm saying. I've always said. I mean anybody that's played in era of before these rules. We're we're going to think that way but the problem i have i. I don't mind so much making a game as safe as possible. I don't mind that i'm with you on now. I don't. I don't want nobody to come off. I don't mind so some of the rules that have been implemented have been the right rules. The problem that i have is this. If i'm an offensive player in. I have the ball when i get ready to get hit. Naturally i'm going to lower my center of gravity. I'm going to drop my body. The defender is running at full speed downhill. He's going to drop his body. If i dropped my body. And he drops his. It's probably going to be held but the helmet contact. But i dropped a curl up to brace for that. He can't change that in order to lead with my shoulder. my head has to drop. My head is gonna drop if i'm leading. What my shoulder and so certain things like they should not be penalties. Like you go back to brady said about the justice fields hit. I was watching that game live. It was to his right side. I'm there's no way just lying just missed the block. They didn't get the protection call. Whatever with at least. That's what i believe. That's what you saw. And i don't know anybody. That's a defensive player. That's gonna tackle justin fields inches. Go up and just grab him. You're trying to force a fumble. Whatever justin feels the athletic big dude for people to have this dude legs is tree trunks you go in there have stepping if you want to..

"I is going to happen. He's gonna have to pay the piper or or the league is going to step in and just say. Hey it's good for us. Is this good for for the league. Is this good for the texas. I think from the technical standpoint. That's not awful either. Because the fact that they would wake up all of a sudden intrigued him at a discount is crazy. They're not gonna trade this guy they ought to just sit on it. Now wait till all the dust settles if the year now and this is all behind them so be it and then we'll try to figure out if if he indeed still doesn't want to be here we'll be able to maximize what we get in compensation a year from now. So there's just so many unknowns. I just don't see anything happening. I think what he did by coming in smart. I mean it's a business decision right. yeah he gets. He gets rid of the fine he gets rid of it gets on the payroll so if they do suspending that's gonna be somewhat still in doubt but at least they've got to come get his money. He showed up for work so they can't they can't suspend him without pay if he wasn't getting paid dirt west so that was a good move from him. It puts it square in the court of roger. Goodell in my mind. They've got to decide now what they're gonna do so do you. If you're running the texans or do you think. The texans was training camp starts. Will he be your number one quarterback and are you running. You know run over the next week or two or however long it takes the league or somebody to step in. Would you use him as your number one guy and play as if he's going to be a starter. I would not don't think. I don't think chris that they're going to allow him to play in that league or to texas. Well i think the league is going to trump the texans in this case because this is a big deal. I think it's above the pay grade of texas. It's the national football league. So i think at some point they're going to put him on some reserve till this stuff either goes away or get settled and i think they can hide behind kobe here for two or three days but at some point. I'm almost going to be surprised if they allow him to take the field. Wow that'll be see. I hear i mean does kind of make sense. Because they don't need any kind of conviction they can do whatever they want. All right randy. We appreciate it and again. We're looking forward to talking to you every week. Guys be too. "All that said. I'm with you. Rob i think impact. Yes it would affect chris. Paul's legacy probably all the stuff about him. Being the fifth best point guard ever and all that that move proudly cease. But he's still hall of famer and most of us rob. Let's face it chris. Thirty six before it is season. We felt like we is what he is. He's a great point guard. He's a hall of famer. He's never gonna win a championship. He's had his struggles in the play offs as some great moments and bad moments and so yeah it will be a negative mark but at the end of the day. Still getting in hall of fame ballot. But i rob. I said and i don't know if you agree with me but i said last week on undisputed i said paul george is probably going to be a hall of famer. I believe if he's in the process of strengthening his case right a performance lasts like last night this whole playoffs when he's he's had his ups and downs. There's no doubt but more twenty strike twenty points at eighteen straight games right on that history. How many three others. Kevin durant kobe. Bryant and michael jordan. That's pretty impressive. Company right there right. So so what i'm saying. I said this today rob on tv if they win this series. He's not probably hall of famer anymore. He's a hall of fame. And i feel that. I think he's a hall of fame if they win this series. Paul george that's how big this series is especially chris. What you're talking about is without kawhi right right. I mean that's the other part is fall's time the first time ever a team would come back from three straight series in which you download to and you did it in the last two without kawhi leonard. The numbers is shooting. Percentages are not that great. He's not that efficient but at the end of the day he's putting up numbers in their winning. You know and so that's big. I think it would be for. Paul george rob hourly just putting him with the rant lebron class but i don't think he would be hall of fame but this would be a this would be an and chris this would be a watershed moment. Note no doubt about it. And i really believe that they have a shot to win this because of other than paul chris paul. All those guys are young. You know how hard it is to close out kris last night. You're at home. Everybody in phoenix is ready to party. His nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine knows who watch no no no no. Why am i right to tell me. And they reports were that they were devastated in the locker room. Oh i found out zoo. Botulism he was giving them thirteen eleven and no he was playing for them right and that he wasn't gonna play and for them. The win at like you said in control. There wasn't a blowout but they were in control that game. They seem like they had a handle on it and they will poised to win it and they didn't. They didn't give him paul. George unbelievable third quarter. So yeah i think this is real. I think what paul george. What the clippers are doing chris. This might be the way you exercise all those demons that they've had because it's been a struggle the whole way through and you notice when they were down to older dallas after losing the first two games and being down big game three in dallas. People were talking about breaking the team up. It was a failure. You know. Paul george and kawhi leonard and now look where we are. "Best of the odd couple with chris. Russo and rob harker. I've said this several times now. But i is repeating. It is worth repeating. I hate all the injuries like else. lebron ad. Chris paul who had covert. We know he's back hawaii linda week. Go on an on the injuries but these play offs have been outstanding outstanding. And i think this is good for the league because young stars are emerging so next year when when the season starts going to be checking for lebron. we're going to be checking for durant. We're going to be checking for kawai and janas in the usual suspects. But now there's a new crew of cats donovan. Mitchell devon booker job moran that dues will be looking at to see how they stack up against the old guard and none none of the young cats. Are we going to be watching. More than mr trae. Young trae young is doing his thing last night. Game one of the eastern conference finals. I mean you would think. Third season really should be a senior in college. That's what he'd be a he. Drops forty eight points eleven assists and leads the fifth-seeded atlanta hawks to a victory over the milwaukee bucks. Now i'm just going to say this. And then i'm gonna turn it over to you. Let you roll. what we're seeing from. Trae young is virtually unprecedented now. He's still got working. I'm talking about if he actually leaves. These atlanta hawks past the milwaukee bucks. This will be unprecedented. I am astonished. By what i am seeing from trae young. Because we haven't seen anybody with all due respect to a supporting cast. But it's mundane is non descript..

"I mean granted. What what we saw in the playoffs was absolutely special in. Could he be better than than lebron james at this point. Yes because father times catching up with lebron but the idea that you can just anoint. A guy with such a small sample size as the best player. That's the part that i don't agree with those people. Were saying that to just based on what he did and golden state yet. What see now see now. That's a legitimate argument like in twenty nineteen. That was a legitimate argument but then he gets hurt. We don't see him a for the for the rest of the finals. Obviously the warriors lose and then we. He's absent all the twenty twenty and then twenty twenty one he. He only plays half the season. And if you really think about it when when he was out who looked like the best player on the brooklyn nets james harden so so just with the small sample size. I can't put him above lebron at this point but also i do recognize that when we're watching lebron james. He doesn't have the same ability to to blow by guys and drive by them and all the things that made him so dominant but his basketball iq in being able to set guys up is what still puts him head to head and shoulders above a bunch of guys in the league. And there's really only a couple of guys who you could even contend as the best player in the league at this point. I don't even think you can put jaanus in that category because yacht is as talented as he is. Twenty eight eleven six on the season which is unbelievable but the idea though that the best in the league doesn't either facilitate the last shot or take the last shot on his own team. That's a little bit weird to me. And then you can. You could argue steph. You could argue like a and you could argue k. d. but beyond that everybody else doesn't have enough of a resume or doesn't or we've had such a small sample size to even have them talked about in the same breath as the be. "Hello and welcome to another episode of the odd lots podcast. I'm joe weisenthal. Lately about crypto currencies but the other big theme of the last year was just like the incredible power performance of big tech will define broadly. I mean it's just incredible year for huge companies and ecommerce absolutely. It's kind of weird. Because i'm thinking back to twenty twenty. And this was the big story in markets it was the sort of outperformance of the things stocks and how everything had just rotated back into these big tech companies. Netflix was doing incredibly well because everyone was sat at home watching movies. There's all this talk about. How the cova crisis had basically reoriented our lives even more towards tech and now we've come out the other side of it and there was some talk about the rotation into value. Things like that. But i think in general the big tech stocks have held up remarkably. Well right yes. They're doing really well. I mean the the stocks you know they. Maybe they weren't as hot as they were a year ago. The time but the companies are still doing very well. So you know i think even with the quote normalization unquote of the economy. It does not seem like there is some sort of shift away from tech. And i think there's kind of two things going on. I mean one is co vid obviously forced certain economic behaviors to go more online. And so you think okay. Zoom video company like that dead obviously replaced a lot of in person activity. We're talking over zoom right now and then the other thing is of course this other theme which is like the sort of great acceleration thesis that all the trends going into the crisis. Just dot like magnify in five years got condensed into one year. Yeah and i think that's probably what we're seeing right now with tech. I mean this idea that we're all going to go into remote working okay. Maybe we're not all going to work from home forever but there might be some sort of hybrid model. We've all gotten very used to ordering stuff off of amazon but that said even though we talk a lot about the acceleration of trends that may be beneficial to tech. There are some things coming up that could potentially be challenging. So you know. For instance we talk about the bottlenecks shortages. What it is actually mean for a company like right. Is it going to be able to get enough drivers. Are we going to see that backlash against big tech from dc. There are certain things coming up. There could be problematic.

"Hello and welcome to another episode of the odd lots podcast. I'm tracy alloway. And i'm joe weisenthal. Joe do you remember that time. I bought an actual barrel of oil or i tried to. Yeah i thought about that and we used to sit right next to each other. I mean now are on the opposite side of the world. We didn't appreciate. That was great. We actually got like work next to each other. And i remember you bought some oil and you kept it on your desk for. Yeah well i am. I didn't really want to leave it in my apartment. Because i heard and learned that crude oil evaporates into the error. And it's not very safe so obviously took it to the office and i put it On the dusk was right next to you But the whole point of survive the whole point of that. Actually you know. I heard that that The little thing of oil fully evaporated after a few years. It's totally gone now kinda crazy. Oh man where we're gonna go into the error. Oh someone else. At bloomberg took it and then evaporated so. I'm sure it's in the trash now anyway. That was a very Strange sounded okay. The point of doing that story to actually try to buy a barrel of oil was to show exactly what was going on in a key commodities market in crude oil. Of course at a really interesting time. This is one we had Some interesting patterns in the market The tango structure where in theory you could buy oil and sit on it and forward sell it to someone else and you could pocket the difference and make some money just by buying oil and then storing it for a while to remember that i do that was right. That was like the whole point. It wasn't just that you ought to to learn how to transfer oil but it was like a a carry trader trader. So you know. I've taken an interest this year in logistics and transport and the shipping chaos. That we've seen we've done a number of episodes at this point on the The gridlock in global shipping. This is the topic does your. I think there are many topics. But you know all the interesting stories. This year have not been really in anything related to Liquid markets or anything classically macro but in micro how to shipping work out at home building. Where how sawmills work. Anything sort of like real on the ground economy is is where attend. Twenty twenty one. That's right. I'm so glad you said micro because we are going to be going very very micro in this episode so in the spirit of actually buying a barrel of oil or some oil earlier. This around january is set out to actually ship something via container from hong kong to the west coast of the us. I tell you about that. Are you brought up on our interview with the flex and that was sort of. But we didn't really get into what happened. I don't even know. did you ship it. I don't even know him. Yeah okay so spoiler alert. We didn't ship it in the end. It turns out that the gridlock in global shipping is so extreme. That i couldn't make this work and we tried for about four or five months and i just kept getting bumped from ship to ship to ship so i gave up eventually. I'm sorry but i it like all. The ships are packed. However i refuse to believe that there wasn't space for a teddy bear one ship. I mean come on spent come on. We're going to get into exactly what happened..

"Hello and welcome to another episode of the odd lots podcast. I'm joe weisenthal. And i'm tracy alloway tracy. It's been a long time since i've visited you in hong kong. But one of the thing i remember. I know it's too long. And as soon as i can whether like after the virus. Whatever i got gotta make that happen. Yeah i totally agree. I just. I'm thinking like i haven't left this relatively small area for a year and a half. Now i am. You're gonna stir crazy. Yeah but one thing that i remember like about hong kong like people there are just obsessed with real estate like i just remember just sort of like real estate. Buying home-buying speculation just seemed to be in the air and hong kong absolutely. It's sort of almost a way of life here. I guess it's the thing. Everyone aspires to is eventually owning a house. A house prices are absolutely insane. There's a perpetual shortage of housing although there's a big debate about whether that's in fact true or whether it's because of Ill considered government policy and things like that but yes if you walk down the street almost every other building probably has some sort of real estate office in it and everyone just loves to talk about home. Buying home prices speculation so i think in the us it more like goes in waves like obviously two thousand five two thousand six. That was crazy than it sort of crashed for awhile but right now. I don't think there's any doubt that sort of like home-buying mania the desire to own a home is absolutely enough. Full swing in the united states. Yeah so even me over here in hong kong. I have seen some of these crazy news stories about house prices. I saw that one about Someone put in an offer for a house and then said they would name their child after the seller if they got the house crazy things like that like these are things that you would normally only not normally but you would find in the hong kong market..

Ad don't rush back. Which is smart. Lebrons seems to be taking the tax. You are at least to some degree. I don't think what brian feels like. We just can't beat them but it's smart because at the end of the day look next year. I think rob look and we'll get into this more but father time is knocking on lebron's door. No i this smothered him and tackled him and all of that but he's he's come over now. He's knocked on the door. He's walked in the house. You know because you saw lebron couldn't couldn't his numbers look okay right. If you didn't see the game you just look at the box score. You'll be like libra show. I mean it wasn't his best game but hey twenty four seven times but no he can't dominate the game. Like you used to the numbers be what they may. But that's evident doesn't mean he can't win championships. It just means. We've talked about it. Rob with tom brady. Tom brady can't carry that mediocre talent anymore. "Great commercial success down the road, which we're and there's a freedom to that. You know when it may or may not be the last movie I get to make, but Odd seemed to me at the time that it would be, um And I am less angry about that. When I used to be and not really angry about it all I think I used too felt like frustrated and oh, you know, this isn't fair to me and all that stuff, But I don't really have that anymore. I'm I don't have that kind of ambition anymore. At this point, my life, you know, I get to make another movie and it feels like a good situation. And I think that I'm interested in then I will do it. And if I don't, I'm okay with it. What? What? What a gift. It is to be able to. Not just write a very as a good book, but just be ableto be able to write this book. You know what a gift it is, If you're if you're feeling that sort of frustration in film to be able to just create something on your own terms like this Yeah. No, I mean, I was very I mean, that's the reason I When I was approached, that I took it on. It just seemed like a complete freedom to me and a Zeiss said as intimidating as it was to start on the process of writing a novel. It ended up being, you know, a lot of fun for me and very freeing, and and a good experience. And I'm glad that I got to do it. Will you do another? Will you do another novel? Like more immortality aside. Immortality is I don't know. Can we put that aside? Are we allowed to let me know if that's possible? Yeah, I want to. I want to write another.

"Of the odd couple with Chris Bruce and Rob Harker. I Rob. Let's get right into this. Stephen Jackson who has really been at the heart of this whole situation. George Floyd was his brother he he knew him obviously had a good relationship, and it just look like twins what they call they call each other twin. And very difficult time for him, obviously as it is for many people, but more so for him, but he is really taken up the mantle of speaking out about this and trying to get justice for his brother am for all people that have endured this as we've seen over the last several years with all these videotaped murders of unarmed African Americans by policemen, so he is out there, and he was speaking with one of our good friends Marc Spears. We worked with him at the old network. Yes, but mark talked with him. When podcast I believe it was yesterday. Stephen! Jackson made a bold statement about Lebron James here. It is when what is Lebron told you in. The Bra posted it was the conversation was dope right, so he goes to me speaking and I text them back. I say appreciation Bro I. Won't let you down. He takes me back. You haven't and I, won't even? That was the. I would say always be. Jordan might be the best basketball player. Lebron, the greatest athlete Arab. Bigger basketball will be wild the broad. I? I'm GonNa give you first crack. But what do you think about Steve's comments? I get it heated a moment. Of the moment. What's going on Lebron is Is Current is. In your consciousness Chris Right now, but the statement just is not accurate, and you know a lot of people do this is you try to you just so current and talking about the president? You forget about everything that's come before you and this is no, not everybody says oh you Ayla Bra. Right Chris that's not what this is about. Lebron has done great. Things are core Lebron has been socially aware, and and spoken out and I applaud him. You know this Chris I never criticized. Him wrote to stop that he's done never right. But he's not the greatest athlete ever. There are so many who came before him, and we're not even going to include Mohammed. Ali Chris. We both think is is at the mountain top of. Trying to change the world speaking up for black people. and. Going to do what he believed was right so I love. What Muhammad Ali was about. I I'm going to say, but but I mean when you say the greatest athlete Jackie. Robinson changed what it was like to be a black man in this country Chris. Come on. Come up the obstacles. The movie Chris on the other day forty two. I'm watching a movie in my house and I'm somber watching the treatment of him. It makes my skin crawl and twenty twenty on a movie. When the manager of the Philadelphia Phillies is is hurling hateful language and racist language Adam. I'm hurt by watching teammates. Yes, YEP! The people when they went to Cincinnati to play to Brooklyn dodgers. And the crowd you know Cincinnati at that time Chris. All, Right, pee wee. Reese came over who was from like Kentucky like near the area round and put his arm around him. To signify, Jackie's all right. He's Jackie's cool. Jackie's all right and I'm just saying..

"You agree with that dial could? Do. You have them as underachievers I would agree, but here's the difference. Okay, they won the Division fifteen time world series a number of times I don't know what the exact numbers. They went five or six times in those sixteen years they. Day only one one. They went to the world series in that run. Most of the Times they. They only went one two, three lost four. Okay, okay, they were one. Yeah, that's why say they took. One! No, I understand that to win. So dare dare. Accomplishment was like Lebron's got into the finals. He has it just won his the central division now. He's got to the Finals fifteen ninety. Is An unbelievable and any sport to win the bear, but it's division I mean. I get it in baseball especially back then. It's a little different because you didn't have as many teams in the playoffs. That's what I'm saying. That's why you could get in right and so to me. That's a bigger failure because how many teams were making the playoffs at that point four back then I think it was through Chris Four. Okay, so. You're was it. Three Would, it might have been the nineties before the wildcard or what? Yeah, so so you only had. The division winners, so if three team see that's the difference you on your Division fifteen times, and you only had to be to other teams to get to the world series and you only you lost that ten times, and then you only won the world series one out of those fifties. Brian hasn't been that unsuccessful. He's won three so I just think had he gone? They had he been in Cleveland, one three law six. I still think like Pierce would not have this argument. Pearson's argument is. You didn't stay to build it up. You would have to say. He built it up. They didn't win it every year, but he did build them any did that anyway. He's still built them into a contending team. He just didn't close the door until the. Would to Miami came back. Interesting story came out today Chris, Simms former NFL quarterback, speaking or one zero five point three, the fan in Dallas. These talking about DAX contract. He says from what I know of the situation and I know from some people who are in the know that he's been he being back has offered five years one hundred seventy five million dollars for those that don't want to do the math as thirty five million a year. He wants a four year deal. and Dow's wants five. He says if they do agree to a five year deal. They would like this this being DAX people. They would like a really big number at the end of that fifth year to cover their butts for what the market might be at the position five years from now and I've heard he's asking for somewhere like north of forty five million in that fifth year. Here's the thing rob. In five years. I don't think forty five million is going to be the top. So I think that it might be bigger than forty five. You said north of forty five. Maybe fifty or something I think that is being smart. Data saying look. The reason he wants. Fourth Year is because he knows that the caps going to go up. That salaries are going to go up even higher, and you want me to sign a five year deal net fifth year at thirty, five million will not be where it should be as far as you know rankings. As, so if you want me to give me either give me the four years for thirty five million per, or if you give me five, the net five better Ba, forty, five plus million. I think that I agree with that. That's what he should do i. just wonder is the forty five even low for five years from now Raji while Robin I are talking. Can you look up five years ago? What the paid salary was per year Pro Garoppolo? What that was fewer than five years ago when he got like twenty eight, so it's probably around twenty six, but you can look it up. Please let us know Barabbas. I think when when you try to figure out talk about what the money's going to be. There's all kinds of other factors of someone committee money to you now, not knowing what the future holds not knowing if another pandemic comes through and wife South to season, not knowing if you're going to be injured, everybody, who a deal with the minute it sign Chris so.
