"Thank you for sticking through those commercial breaks, and I am excited to introduce our guest today, so what I consider a friend, obi nasu is a cofounder of a board member of Jack Dorsey and Jay-Z's Bitcoin trust. We're going to be diving in with obi and I am not doing your resume in your experience any justice, I will let you tell the audience what you would like them to know you for, but obi, thank you for joining us and welcome. Hey, thank you for having me, guys. An intro. So I am probably most well known now for being the cofounder and CEO of fetty, which is powered by federman, this is form of community custody that is going to bring Bitcoin to Vivian's over the coming years. And then beyond that, I am a board member at B trust, which was a not for profit set up. Originally from a generous donation from Jack Dorsey and Jay-Z, nearly a year ago now. And we're going to have some announcements around that hopefully at Afro Bitcoin 2022 in Ghana. So there will be watched a space on that. And then finally, I am a board member at another organization called gridless compute, which is an African based Bitcoin mining company, which is helping accelerate the electrification of rural East Africa by accelerating the adoption of renewables, only possible because of Bitcoin money. And so that's also very exciting. But basically, it's all Bitcoin, all empowering the global self, all with global impact all the time. That's me. And I want to really emphasize this point because I think it gets lost in the fray of what fetty amphetamine to particular is supposed to accomplish. And it's not this, oh, let's buy this token and wait for it to moon and we'll get rich. This is a real world present day, we need to we need better money and this is that solution to that problem. This isn't let's go shitcoin and create a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. This is a real world problem. That exists. I want

"I've never seen a lightsaber. Wait, did he yeah. There was just too many things where I was like, they didn't pay close enough attention. How hard is it to watch one of the original trilogy movies and be like, okay, don't cross this line. And they muddied the shit out of it. Well, okay. So I guess she didn't get her mind wipe. She knows enough about Obi-Wan to know his name is Obi-Wan. And then at the end to be like, hey, you're my only hope. That's fine. That made more sense to me at the end. I'm like, okay, she knows of him, you're not going to force mine wiper or whatever. So she's going to know that he's a friend of the family. And that he was a Jedi or something and she can send a message out to him. You fought in the diary. Exactly. Oh yeah, for that line. He's the waters again. Totally. There was so much going on here that I didn't understand. I was especially like that. That entire reva storyline is just like, I mean, I felt like the actress could have done more with apartment written a little bit better. And like her motivations were a little bit clearer. But it felt like they were trying to tie a bow on a character that I just didn't really care about. They were setting her up because they didn't kill her. They're going to use her again. She's going to show up in ahsoka or something, or it was an introduction to a character. It was a good nugget of an idea that wasn't realized fully. I thought riva did great as like a fanatic killer, but they could have halved the amount of parkour in that episode where she's like, hey, they're like 6 rooftops away. And she does like a full minute and a half of parkour. Yeah. Mission Impossible 7. Overall, I thought the series started off pretty weak. It got a little bit stronger toward the end. Definitely some mediocre episodes in the middle. It's great to see you and McGregor play Obi-Wan. He was a bright spot of the prequels. And I would watch more with him just on that basis. If they find something like you say the right people to do it, you get some cool adventures for him where he's like fighting bounty hunters or some shit. I miss flea. Get Anthony keys in the next one we'll talk. Yes, you know? Just have a whole musical number with Red Hot Chili Peppers. Yeah. Turn it into a music video. Yeah, it could be all about heroin and California. Red hot cantina. Yeah. Yeah. But I would say this episode, I would give it honestly a 7, just because I enjoyed the duels. Series overall, I'd give it a 6 and a half out of ten. I give the overall series a 6. Final episode, 6 and a half. Actually, exactly what Sean said. Yeah, the entire series 6. Last one, 6 and a half. We got to see Vader. We got C Palpatine. At the very end, we got to see qui gon Jen. He had one or two lines..

"And it's a motherfucker too. That's two styles. Yeah. Boom. That's a hybrid. I thought it was very weird saying Hayden Christensen himself and the mask with his voice. I didn't mind it. Yeah, it was interesting. It wasn't bad. It was just weird, unexpected. It was stolen from rebels, though. Ahsoka fights Vader. And they have the exact same thing in the exact same spot. I think. I think so. But it did seem interesting. I was like, I was wondering, 'cause you see all of Anakin's wounds whenever he, you know, in Revenge of the Sith, but I was like, oh, is this like a new wound that OE one gave him like on top of the head? Like, that's all I remember from return of the Jedi, when he takes off his head and it's the top of his head is all jacked up. That's weird. So I wonder if, I don't know if this is, oh, a new scar. But I was really looking forward like I was like, I wanted him to have the crazy red yellow eyes. And they did it eventually, but it didn't quite didn't pop. It didn't pop like it did in rebels. Also, is it safe to say that they kind of went overboard with the lightsaber under lighting? Yeah. I feel like they really overplayed the lights coming off the lightsaber. Yeah, it was very LED. Yeah. A little too ambient. It felt like a dude shown off is like LED lit desk. Check out my sweet lighting. Yeah. Day 20s. No, they tends, but I keep them clean. It's like sometimes I use this red light saber to develop photographs in a dark room. Yeah. That'd be awesome. Vader was very fast. Walking up to Obi-Wan. I was like, all right, you know, we've seen maybe he's older, whatever. These are just my little nitpicks. Also, Vader with a fucking star destroyer or what's the next level up of star destroyer? Imperial star cruiser. Whatever superstar story, I believe. Superstar. Was he was in a superstar. Super saiyan destroyer? Whatever it was. Again, that thing has a fuck ton of tie fighters like why wouldn't you we're just going to shoot at them slowly? No, I mean, yeah, they went after Obi-Wan, which I guess I understand it. It's the play, whatever. But yada, yada, yada. And because the yada yada yada. But again, once Obi-Wan lands, if you know where that ship is, like I would send one tie fighter, we're like, hey, just go and just blow that ship to smithereens. So he can't get off this rock. Yeah. If nothing else, like he can't go anywhere and I'm tired of chasing this dude. I kind of assumed that he was going to take off in Darth Vader ship because Darth Vader ship would have a hyper speed. Yeah. Not knowing that the ship that he had the entire time also had fucking a hyperdrive. Yeah. Wasn't that the whole point is that they're going slo-mo because they can't fix their hybrid. Well, guess what? There's a motivator that works in the fucking way ship there's so many, there's so many holes in this entire fucking series. It was at about a 6, it needed to be at about an 8 or 9. For an Obi-Wan series, step with the fuck up..

"Like a very non tanning wine like a Pinot Noir won't age as a rule for very long. You know, ones from Southeast Asia, tannins are really known for going down really quickly. Really? Yeah, interesting. That's why they call it the Titanic. What kind of wines are on tattooing? I don't know. They don't really talk much about booze. It blue milk. They have blue milk, how they have Luke Skywalker's blue. How do we know the blue milk isn't booze? It might be. He looked a little bit drunk after having it. Wiping it away. So yeah, this one, the freak show camera is like 20 bucks. You ever take so it's not a bad thing to get more expensive. That's not a bad value for bottle of wine. So episode 6, so we want Kenobi. Obi-Wan Kenobi. This episode begins with Obi-Wan trying to get land to safety. Again, for another episode. I don't have here. Why does he trust Hodgins with the princess? Because he doesn't really know the guy. And, you know, she's a princess, so he's a con man. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They even put it in the script. Yeah. Why would you trust me? Me, lying, stealing former fake Jedi. Yeah. It's just like, I trust you, haja. Why? Just saying it makes it so. Right. And yeah, spoiler alerts are in this. I should say that right from the get go. So, you know, this is a recap and review. Go watch it and come back. So we're talking in the past tense for this. Yeah, this episode, this whole series is full of those kind of moments where tech they did. I think that through, did they? Who wrote this? Lazy writing. Yes. A lot of yada yada Ying. Yeah. A lot of Game of Thrones season 8 vibes. You know? A lot of just kind of gesticulating general interest saying, well, yeah. That's why. That just go with it. But at the same time, this episode is kind of like the last couple. There's been some cool parts to it. You know, it's missing cool moments here. Yeah, well, I mean, you have to have certain beats to just tie up the story. You know there's got to be some sort of final confrontation between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. That's got to happen. You know they're somehow going to yada, yada, yada, get the ship away. Yeah. Yada, yada, yada. Riva is going to try to attack Luke. Yeah. Yeah. Episodes divided into two showdowns. I'll be on battling Vader on a stalagmite or stalactite planet. We're not sure which. I think it was both. Obi-Wan's Jedi skills have gone from 6 to midnight pretty quickly in this series. He's gone from the disabled list now to be superstar..

"I'm not Sonny, I got a question for you about marketing. I learned this when the arc came out. The Russell Crowe aren't movie, whatever that was called NOAA or whatever. They created a controversy. I mean, they actually and I know that people who did this. They created a controversy. Oh, conservative Christians won't like this movie because of the way that we portray certain elements. And they just made it up, conservative Christians didn't care about them. It was a stinker. And so I think most of that so called controversy about this is made up by Disney to try and get attention to a movie that's just a stinker. Which controversy is that. That there's a same sex kiss, which, you know, basically wouldn't register on my radar to begin with. And I don't think anyone is not going to his thinker movie. It's just that movies are expensive. I took my grandkids to see a movie. I took them to see bad guys, and I loved it. But you know, I was kind of stunned at what it cost to go to the movies with three kids. Yeah. Yeah, no, it's expensive. I mean, there's certainly a ginned up controversy element to a lot of there's a type of marketing that is basically well, you know, some people aren't going to like this. And because those people are bad. You saw the same thing during the Obi-Wan show where there was a supposedly a controversy about some Star Wars fans didn't like it because the lead villain in the show is a black woman. And I mean, I'm sure there's some YouTube comments there somewhere who was complaining about that, but the real problem with that show was that it's just boring.

"Real quick about the <Speech_Male> wine, we're drinking olivares. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Rose and <Speech_Male> garnish, the Spanish <Speech_Male> garnish. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> For those <Speech_Male> who have been joined us recently, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> a rose <Speech_Male> is <Speech_Male> by and large going to be <Speech_Male> a red, wine grape, <Speech_Male> with the skin peeled off. <Speech_Male> So garnish <Speech_Male> is a Spanish red <Speech_Male> grape. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Peel the <Speech_Male> skin off and <SpeakerChange> you get a <Speech_Male> rose, a pink one, <Speech_Male> a blush. So <Speech_Male> does that mean that <Speech_Male> like a lot of flavor <Speech_Male> comes out of the skin? <Speech_Male> Because <Speech_Male> there's such <Speech_Male> a <SpeakerChange> significant difference <Speech_Male> between a rose <Speech_Male> and a red wine. Yeah. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> It definitely is where <Speech_Male> the body of the tannins, <Speech_Male> things like that. The structure, <Speech_Male> like the <Speech_Male> bigger structure of the wine, <Speech_Male> comes from. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Yeah, it definitely <Speech_Male> changes the entire dynamic <Speech_Male> of the wine to <Speech_Male> make the skin off. I mean, obviously, <Speech_Male> and you might have had <Speech_Male> a red zone and a white zone <Speech_Male> to tell you that. <Speech_Male> Yeah. <Speech_Male> Rose, <Speech_Male> it was a <Speech_Male> great summertime <Speech_Male> wedding because it's part of <Speech_Male> our wedding series <Speech_Male> for outdoor receptions <Speech_Male> and things like that. You need <Speech_Male> something you can chill, something <Speech_Male> cool. <Speech_Male> Rose is great. <Speech_Male> It goes with <Speech_Male> a lot of <Speech_Male> food that you would have in an outdoor <Speech_Male> wedding kind of grilled <Speech_Male> food. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> Fried <Speech_Male> food. Hot dogs. Yeah. <Speech_Male> This <Speech_Male> tastes like I would drink <Speech_Male> it too quickly and be <Speech_Male> like, oh, I got a sloshy <Speech_Male> toner. I'm gonna have to go <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> hit the buffet. <Speech_Male> I need <Speech_Male> to <Speech_Male> fortify this, yeah. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> There's <Speech_Male> about $10 again, it's <Speech_Male> olive varus, which is <Speech_Male> a town in, <Speech_Male> I believe, southeastern <Speech_Male> Spain. <Speech_Male> Spanish <Speech_Male> wines are a good thing to <Speech_Male> get for these <Speech_Male> convocations because they're affordable. <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> easy drinking. <Speech_Male> So rose is a <Speech_Male> good pick for a wedding. <Speech_Male> And <Speech_Male> specifically, look for <Speech_Male> Spanish real days. <Speech_Male> Goodbye. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But yeah, <Speech_Male> there's been another episode of some <Speech_Male> of you know. <Speech_Male> Talking about <Speech_Male> Obi-Wan episode <Speech_Male> 5 of 6 <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> now on <Speech_Male> Disney+. <Speech_Male> And we hope that's it. <Speech_Male> Yes. <Speech_Male> Yeah. <Speech_Male> Yeah, I'm they could bring <Speech_Male> Obi-Wan back for other <Speech_Male> series. <Speech_Male> Sure. Maybe not necessarily <Speech_Male> his own dedicated <Speech_Male> series, but bring <Speech_Male> them back, you know. Yeah, <Speech_Male> some boarding character. <Speech_Male> Yeah. Give us more of <Speech_Male> you and McGregor because he's a handsome <Speech_Male> man. Yeah, <Speech_Male> great actor. He's a great <Speech_Male> Obi-Wan. He is. <Speech_Male> Yeah. <Speech_Male> He is. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But yeah, next we're gonna finish <Speech_Male> up our wedding series, but the <Speech_Male> princess bride, <Speech_Male> all time, <Speech_Male> age classic. <Speech_Male> I'm <Speech_Male> looking forward to busting out my <Speech_Male> Peter Falk compression for <Speech_Male> that as the grandpa. I <Speech_Male> am too. Yeah. <Speech_Male> It's gonna be a <Speech_Male> great time. Anybody <Speech_Male> want a peanut? <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> have so many great lines for that <Speech_Male> movie. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But <Speech_Male> anyway, <Speech_Male> we will see you guys <Speech_Male> next time, try what was your line <Speech_Male> about <SpeakerChange> this <Speech_Male> all the small things? <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> The lord uses <Speech_Male> simple things <Speech_Male> that confound the wise. <Speech_Male> That's <Speech_Male> wisdom from an old man <Speech_Male> in a bathroom. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> I'm not gonna give any <Speech_Male> context. I'm elated. <Speech_Male> No. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Oh, yeah, <Speech_Male> so ancient wisdom <Speech_Male> of the bathroom urinal. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But we will <Speech_Male> see you guys <Speech_Male> next time. <Speech_Male> Be sure <Speech_Male> to listen right and <Speech_Male> subscribe at <Speech_Male> Apple podcasts <Speech_Male> Spotify, cast <Speech_Male> box, or wherever <Speech_Male> you listen to your podcasts. <Speech_Male> Our <Speech_Male> website is cinema vino <Speech_Male> dot net <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> and reviews of these films <Speech_Male> can be found at <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> Todd wofford <SpeakerChange> movies <Silence> <Advertisement> dot com. <Music> <Music> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Female> <Music> <Music> <Music> <Music> <Music> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <Music> <Music> <Music> <Music> Now that's the Borg old boy.

"And welcome back to cinema vino. Hey guys. Hey. I'm here with Travis bud. And Sean Jordan. Then I'm going to move into a new house. Currently curating our NFT collection. That's right. The exclusive cinema vino NFT collection. In a laser tag tournament right now. Oh. Yeah, he's the oldest member in the entire tournament. Only because he eliminated the older ones. Yeah. Yeah, like a true alpha. So we are going to talk about the pen ultimate and penultimate one of my favorite ones. I was going to steal the penultimate line. One of my favorite words in the English language. Guys, I know what that means, but for our listeners. Penultimate is a fancy way of saying next to last. Second to last, which is where I often finished in track meets. So I am the penalties metrics. Yeah, I was the penultimate usually in the hundred meter dash. I have to track. I did field. I did field events. I tried to throw a discus. Couldn't do it. Yeah, I was a horse with shot, but were you? Oh, yeah. This thing's very heavy. I was in 7th grade. Which I was undersized for 7th grade. I didn't do any of that stuff. Yeah. I was chubby, so I had a lot of power. Yeah, I had a good base. So, yeah. So we're going to talk about Obi-Wan Kenobi, the penultimate episode, episode 5, which just premiered on Disney+. I know what that means, but prove to me you do. Oh, the second to last. Yeah. Yeah, but see there you go. Yeah, you're with us. Now you're getting it. I always came second to last in track meets. How was your shot put? So what do we want? So this episode relied heavily on flashbacks. I think more than probably any other episode. Super heavy on flashbacks, but it definitely like, yeah, it was like inner waste. It used them more than probably any episode in this series to actually propel the story, like character arcs..

"Overall, I was very pleased. Vader thought that entire fight with one hand. And that to me was the brilliance of the choreography. You see how far Obi-Wan has fallen off of his skills. It's so, so far from where we last meet him where he's doing air tumbles and like fencing, but also sort of with a broad sword style fighting. It broke my heart a little bit to be like, what's happening? Not only is he facing this brother's son that he had to raise not only does he have to face all of the consequences of the actions he didn't take. And then on top of that, for you to be beat so easily. The years had made you weak. Just like Rogue One, they were able to make Darth Vader terrifying. Oh, thrilling in that moment. Totally excellent. And so another critique about this scene that I'm hearing a lot is why would Vader let him go. I really think that Vader is toying with him. I think he's totally fine with letting Obi-Wan go and being like, I'm gonna get you. I have all the time in the world and I'm happy to torture you along the way. The super intense Vader breadth scared me and literally just came right through me. And I had the nostalgia feelings I hadn't had since I was a ten year old kid 45 years ago in the theaters watching this in 1977. And Ewan McGregor is really selling broken guy, right? He is not the hello there. Obi-Wan that we remember. He is certainly someone who has been beaten down, and he looks, he doesn't look 9 years younger than Alec Guinness was, but who cares? He's selling the age. He is selling the weariness. He is selling a man who's given up. You get the vibe that while he has to go back to tattooing and look over Luke that there might be space for other small missions. You and McGregor is so good. He's so dedicated to this. He accidentally revealed in the Vanity Fair article that came out earlier this month that his wife is also going to be a part of Star Wars. It seems like it might be a little bit of a family affair. We know Disney likes to bring people back. What I really hope we see is the dawn of super spy Obi-Wan, though release me when they have to, and no one else can, I will be the maverick of this universe, call me when we need crazy space flights. I think that there's a lot of potential for growth for Obi-Wan. Again, if you've seen the animated series, he gets to fight Darth Maul, who he have in the prequels, and it's so much more impactful because an entire relationship was built up between those two. It's what I love about the Disney TV shows is characters that may have fallen flat, new life. I think it's the best part about the TV shows is that when Star Wars fails, it tends to feel pretty epically where you're like, oh God, why did this happen? And I hate it, and it's really upsetting me. And then here come 6 hours of TV shows to explain why that had to happen. And here's backstory to make you care that that happened. I can enjoy the prequels because of the animated series. And I just really love that we're in all of the shows are taking place in the same time frame now. There's a lot of growth for characters we love. I want to spend more time with you and well we've got two more episodes as we tape this and as you hear it of Obi-Wan Kenobi to go. "The Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi follows one of the last remaining Jedi knights during his strange old hermit phase, which is to say when he's hiding out on tatooine. Ewan McGregor returns as Obi-Wan and when young princess Leia is kidnapped, he's convinced to come out of retirement and pull one last job to rescue her. Even if that means crossing lightsabers with his former apprentice, the evil Darth Vader. I'm Glenn Weldon, and today we're talking about Obi-Wan Kenobi on pop culture happy hour from NPR. This message comes from NPR sponsor, arkane, and Netflix animated TV series based on the globally popular video game League of Legends, produced by Riot Games in partnership with Fortis production, arcane is the winner of 9 Annie awards. For your Emmy consideration. Joining me today is iHeartRadio producer Joel Monique hello, Joelle. Hi Glenn. And also with us is Vincent chilling. He's aqua Sade Mohawk and author, the editor of native viewpoint dot com and a certified Rotten Tomatoes critic. Welcome back, Vincent. Say goodbye. Thanks for having me. Of course, let's get to it. Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place between the first two Star Wars trilogies, ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, so it's ten years since Obi-Wan's apprentice, played by Hayden Christensen, turned to the darkside and became Darth Vader. He wasn't the only one turns out several former jedis have since turned to the dark side and become inquisitors whose job it is to hunt down the few remaining Jedi in the galaxy, Moses Ingram plays riva an impulsive and ruthlessly ambitious inquisitor determined to find Obi-Wan, as anyone who's seen Star Wars nose, Obi-Wan is hiding out on tatooine. He's a broken man who's got a dead end job processing desert meat. And has been letting his Jedi powers atrophy, though he does check in on young Luke on occasion. Jimmy Smits plays his old colleague bail organa, who informs Obi-Wan that his adopted ten year old daughter, Leia, played by Vivien lyra Blair, has been kidnapped. Obi-Wan reluctantly straps on his old blue lightsaber and sets out to rescue her. Obi-Wan Kenobi is a 6 episode series airing on Disney+, and we've seen the first four episodes we'll be talking about them. Joelle, let me start with you. How are you liking? Obi-Wan Kenobi. I like it very much, Glenn. I'm having a lot of fun watching it. Spoilers. I think we already said it, but when Darth Vader and Obi-Wan face off and then Darth drags him through the fire, I was like, catharsis. Oh my gosh. It's happening. We're reflecting it. And then the jewel of the show little Leia and getting to give respect to the other twin and sort of showcase our love for both padme and Carrie Fisher. There's a lot from those performances that are being brought into this character. And then of course, I just love Jedi lore. I love that we're getting deeper. I think four episodes in we can maybe be a little bit deeper. But I'm enjoying what we're getting. Is it perfect? No, definitely we'll get into some critiques later. But overall, having a lot of fun. Great. How about you, Vincent? I'm enjoying it. The first two episodes are really enjoyed. And then episode three happened. And literally, I almost wish I would have had a camera watching me because my mouth was dropped open. I was going, you know, visibly going and then the breathing and then the sabers came out and Obi-Wan fighting with darpa and it's just a magic moment. And I got on the phone with a bunch of my Friends were all Star Wars nerds and we're just like, oh my gosh. Did you see that? Episode three just for me blow it out of the water. I was just like, wow, I had a blast. Okay. And what you're referring to there in episode three, of course, is this lightsaber battle that takes place in stages on this mining planet in this quarry between Vader and Obi-Wan. And you know, lightsaber battles. This is my jam because I don't care about the scoundrels and the soldiers and the smugglers, you're wretched hives of scum and villainy. You can keep those. I want magic space wizards and their laser swords. I want people to say really hokey things about the force like stretch out with your feelings and the power of the dark side. This is all the stuff I love. I didn't watch the animated series, so I'm not invested in that canon. And apparently, this show isn't either, because the grand inquisitor's fate is let's just say different in the animated series than it is in this one and that's fine with me. I don't care. But let's talk stakes. We know Obi-Wan's going to survive. We know Leia is going to get back home. Those are fixed points in the canon, so this series more than any other Star Wars series so far is expressly about filling in a gap, right? The draw here becomes to watch as they navigate what was established in the films. And it's certainly four episodes in. It certainly seems like they're treating the films the way they're treating the animated series, which is, you know, on one sense it's valid, right? Let everything stand on its own. I get that. But the organizing principle of this show is to connect Revenge of the Sith to a new hope and to do it seamlessly. That's the challenge they set for themselves. And I find myself again and again, getting my Jedi robes in a bunch about the smallest stuff. The stuff I shouldn't care about. Like, I hear myself about to go into this and I don't like being this guy, but I'm gonna be this guy. Why did hologram Leia in a new hope address Obi-Wan is general Kenobi and say years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars, when they had this hole wacky buddy cop road trip adventure together, you know, if you say, well, she was just being careful because the message might get intercepted, but then why would she say she's placed information vital to the survival of the ruling in the memory systems of the star two unit? Because that'd be a tell. Why does Darth Vader say in a new hope? The circle is now complete when I left you, I was about to learn and now I'm the master. If they had what I thought was kind of in a not great lightsaber duel, they a very abortive lightsaber dull that was kind of in this really visually unimpressive quarry that could have been filmed 6 miles outside of Glendale. Now look, in the long run these questions don't matter. Because it's about the story, but to me, they really do. I'm sorry. They really do. I agree. You don't have to be sorry Glenn, you're a fan and the absolutely matter. I have so many points to address. I'll just start with you. Haven't seen the animated series Glenn. The storytelling is so good. I really feel like you would like it. It's really breathing a lot of life into this. Listen, what happens in Star Wars clones get made? I'm not convinced the inquisitor is gone gone. He was. Super loyal to Vader, he was well thought out in his strategy was good at following orders. I don't think you just let that guy go. And I can't imagine Dave filoni, who created the animated series, you know, oversees a lot of these Disney+ shows, would be like screw cannon. I don't care. It's not in his purview to do that. So I think there's a surprise coming for us on that front. I also think so we have the maybe Leia is just like her brother. She's like, I'll be lucky to be. Do you mean old man Ben Kenobi? Maybe they're of the same thread, and that's what's happened. I imagine that has to be ironed out at some point. Maybe Kenobi is like Smith, right? Maybe it's just a really common name in this galaxy. Maybe they get their mind right like R two and C-3PO frequently give their minds why they're like you don't remember anything of what you just saw. Go forth and do our bidding, please. I don't know. We'll see. I hope they get it explained, but I do think that all of these canons are interwoven. I just can't see if they want me going off track. I don't think they're going off track, but you know, I have to say for me, there's the one pervasive theme that I want to have a sit down with every writer out there of fiction and say, can we please have a hero who likes his powers? Yeah. Can we have a hero who uses the force to get a cup of coffee? I mean, does everyone have to go into the caves of wherever and hide in the dark for ten years? Because heaven forbid he ever used this power again. I'm just so tired of that theme in which you can't embrace who you are. I get it. You got to hide. I get it. You've got to protect Luke and you've got to protect Leia and that's your job. I get it. Can he just for once just enjoy the fact that he can have the force or have some control.

"I'm just going to do this all the time. I'm like, it doesn't mean shit talks about it. Or a smoothie. They don't have that great of a range. But you know, Luke kind of get hearing both sides of the equation. Here's Obi-Wan saying that, but then Han Solo was like, you know, there's no substitute for good blaster. So he gets both devil in the angel when it comes to blasters. So Sean, you were saying. 5.5. Yeah, it's right there. I'm about a 5. So real. I'm on the fence, big time. I may fall off the next episode. Again, if it wasn't Star Wars, I probably would not watch the next two. I'll just put a couple of weeks and catch up with it. We already had the Vader Obi-Wan fight and episode three. If that's not going to happen again, this series like you already shot your watch, man. I'm completed. That makes me sad. And then again, I have a 1000%. I'm like, Leia and Obi-Wan are sitting there holding hands after the scene. They're like, we've been through some shit, but we're back together now like there's no way. There's the Christopher Reeve Superman. We're in the what Superman two lowest finds out who he is and Superman pulls some power out of his ass where he's just like, oh, you can forget all about me being Clark Kent. I feel like that might be the big thing that Obi-Wan does at the end is like, I'm gonna have to mind wipe you or like mind wipe me from your memory. You'll think it's somebody that you saved you, but the Harry Potter wand and pull out the. They'll have to do something to kind of like tie a bow on the continuity of her coming back as an adult and being like, help me I'll be one can now be on my only hope. Which is just another lazy piece of writing because we already know that they're painted themselves into a corner doing a prequel where we know certain characters live and how they interact. That's yeah. No, I agree. You need to have done a better job writing when you don't have the stakes of mortality to play on. And favreau, not involved in this series at all. It shows. Oh, spicy. Yeah. What is her name? Something. I don't have to look this up. Chat. Deborah chow. I think it's a different shot. Yeah. I keep coming back to Better Call Saul, which to me is the exception to the rule with prequels. Because obviously, if you've seen wrecking bad, you'll know that obviously saw Goodman survives..

"And welcome back to cinema vino. So be a special side mini episode talking about Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's your boy. Yeah. Episode four on Disney+. Obi. We got Shawn Jordan. Hi. And Taylor Owen. That's me. And Brad was Todd. It's your boy. I came into early. You did. As you do. That needs to be a sub bod. Yeah. That's gonna be my textile whenever you text me. So we're gonna talk about this episode premiered today. And we're gonna do a recap and review of the episode. So spoilers are everywhere. So they were. They are gonna be. They're here. Yeah. So a quick recap. So this episode takes place immediately after the last episode where Obi-Wan is flambeed. By the hands of Darth Vader. Like a seer. He is paying seared. He's crunchy on the outside. Yeah. And he is rescued by iliar sand. I don't know what her name is in this, but she rescues him and takes him to the back to tanks. The voyage that her hairstyle goes through from start to finish is really impressive. Good word use arduous. It's an arduous journey. She has the most beautiful body of hair and then when she's in officer, she's like, it's tight. It's tight bun. I don't know what mush she uses. But as soon as they get back in that ship, it is. Boom. Yeah. Bountiful. Yeah. So Obi-Wan goes to the back to thanks. It gets somewhat healed. I thought for a second I had bad flashbacks to Obi-Wan. I thought we might do a whole episode in the back of the tank where he's like locked in there. And we're flashing back. Yeah, it's like, oh God, you know, we're going to we're going to have an adventure with the sand people. And it's like, and then The Mandalorian is going to show up. It's going to be like two episodes in The Mandalorian. Which would be awesome. That would have helped this fucking episode. It would have been awesome if it's all of a sudden it's like The Mandalorian shows up in his bat back to tank vision and then goes to find baby Yoda. It's like mando would have pulled off this heist flawlessly. Yes. Yes. Agreed. So her name is Tala in the episode. That's right. And so basically, once Obi-Wan comes to, he realizes Leia's gone. It's a big rescue operation. They go to this fortress where the third sister had really low effort to figure out where the fortress was. There was a lot of low effort situations. It's like ice cube's son. O'Shea Jackson junior is like, you know, at first I get out of here, get off, leave this planet right away..

"Yeah, they always wait till the last episode or two. Spend all their money. Yeah. Right now, this last episode, God, I love Vader, but the ewok adventure movies were more entertaining. Caravan of courage. Fuck yeah, man. No. That's my shit. And I haven't heard any from max in a long time. He died in the second movie. When he did, he became gospel preacher for a while. What? After the first album. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. We feel so good. Seems like kind of the theme that they're going to go with is like, he has to rediscover hope for the world. I think that's where the story is going to go. I forgot, I was actually going to watch just a section of a new hope again because I think Leia and Obi-Wan have some exchange in there. Wouldn't he have said something to her? Or wouldn't she have somewhat recognized? Do you remember our adventure ten years ago? Maybe she gets her memories wiped when she's with Reba McEntire? I don't know. Jeez. Maybe so. I don't know. It's weird. You know, I believe that with a droid and you go force wipe their memories of what about, I don't believe it was so much with people. I don't know. They're gonna, they're gonna make some sort of bend over backwards story to make up for it. And that'd be real convenient for these kind of prequel things if they could just white people's memory. I remember you don't remember that thing. And now on the episode four. Somehow he's like, oh, you're in the public eye, you're obviously not on some weird, dirt farm in tatooine. You're starting to discover some kind of like if he could dampen her force abilities or something for a time and that's why they need excuses to why shouldn't become a Jedi. And why they don't have to worry so much about continuity. Yeah. That's the big thing. But this has been another episode of cinema being a little mini episode talking about episode three of Obi-Wan. We will have these. Every week for you guys. So be sure to tune in. And we're going to continue next with our series on wedding. It was really four weddings and a funeral next. And then after that Palm Springs. So be sure and tune in, I would love to have that as your ringtone. Just kind of breathy like soul, like soft soul, and you never close your eyes and you get sued. So Sean Jordan. Hey, Taylor. That's me. And Travis. And bravis ton. We will see you guys next time. If you're interested in starting your very own podcast,.

"The scene, I need you to shell out some shekels to fucking John Williams. Yeah. I needed that fucking Vader thing. Surely they own that out. Get your ass out there and you find LucasFilm. I'm sure there's going to be plenty of time for it. I mean, we can't have Darth Vader is like the main villain of a series and not have the John Williams score. Yeah, they're teasing it out right now. They're drawing it out. Yeah. So this episode has much anticipated 5 Obi-Wan Kenobi. And Darth Vader, their first sense, he was disfigured. It's got a good cast this episode. It does. It does. And Darth Vader tries to basically get his revenge on Obi-Wan by dragging him through hot coals. That was cool. That was badass. Yeah. That was like, that was the revenge level Darth Vader that I was expecting. That was literally the Revenge of the Sith. Ends with lamb and captured by the third sister. Big cliffhanger at the end. Seem predictable, but I also don't know how she got there. The guy on the ground. She was at one end of the tunnel, Leia was like all the way at the other end of the tunnel. She got short legs. Her guide went back the other direction. And somehow she made it to Obi-Wan and then Reeva made it to Leia. I don't understand this tunnel. Is it not a one direction tunnel? No. That's what she said. So what are you guys thoughts on The Simpsons almost are trapped? I sense. Oh, strong emotions in you. Oh. Yeah, I love Darth Vader coming back. I don't give two flying ding dong fucks about Hayden Christensen. Thank you. Hashtag, not my Anakin. But James Earl Jones, that is a whole nother story. Yeah. Yeah. Vader for life. Team Vader, hashtag, I don't have another, I guess, hashtag team Vader. Obi-Wan still has a glorious looking beard. Honestly guys, I'm tired of the lone wolf and cub. Thank you. A Mandalorian and grogu. Yes. We've seen great job. We've seen it play it out. Seen it too many times and stuck somewhere and having do the last minute rescue, I don't know. Look, this is a good episode. I've just seen this too many times before. I need something fresh, something peppy, something snappy. Yeah. I liked, I liked all of Vader. "So I think this is also a little bit of fan service there. Yeah. And it's like, you know, for the sequel trilogy, it's like, oh, you're disappointed at how Luke was portrayed. Mandalorian, we're going to give you Luke. The character you wanted to see. Yeah. You know, there's payoff there. And so, you know, I think that these series have been about kind of not directly but indirectly given fans what they've been wanting. And so with this series, I know that, you know, obviously prequel fans liked Ewan McGregor. He was a bright spot for the prequels. As Obi-Wan, love it. Yeah, he's been great. And he does a great job. Still good. Embodying the character. And so it's like, we'll give you a series with him as Obi-Wan and do an Obi-Wan stuff. So watching Better Call Saul kind of had me keep a little bit more of an open mind about prequels because it's like that's, you know, they did such a good job with that with the right people just like Dave filoni, Jon Favreau, tech with the right people they can do it. You know, it takes the right mindset. I'll be honest with the only they were like, oh, we're gonna do The Mandalorian. I'm like, who the fuck is me? I don't give a good goddamn. The amount of time I know the Obi-Wan series, obviously there is a huge chunk of time there that's unaccounted for where he was just like, all right, well I guess I'm gonna go chill on tatooine and just like total my thumbs. The only actual backstory I gave a shit about is you see Vader, he's being a bad guy in a new hope and you see him for another two films after that. And then he's gone. I want to see Vader at his height. No Luke to fight. No Leia. I want to see him being a bad, bad, bad boy. Yeah. I feel so good. They showed the prequels of mace. And you got the kid in the first one, and then you got Hayden Christensen in the second one, you know, two and three. Did not do it for me. No. I was promised a Vader origin story in the comments. And there's a pussy on that. The comic books go into depth about Darth Vader. There's a Darth Vader series that's produced by marvel in the comic books, and it's very good. Yeah, I wish they would do that in film form. But I needed to see Vader being a bad, bad boy. And doing gangster shit. Well, and I'm paraphrasing the Patton Oswalt. Like rant. Yeah. Well, and I think that where he really comes into his own as Darth Vader is where he starts to smash the rebellion, try to put that down. And I think this is kind of the start of bail organa organizing the rebellion and that's kind of where this is going to go, I think. Yeah. So my thoughts, I enjoyed it. I love it, not yet. It does, some things of it to me run into continuity errors where it's like, just as my history as a Star Wars nerd of him, Obi-Wan interacted with princess Leia. That's all well and good. But it's like, you know, you think about episode four, princess Leia contacts Obi-Wan, and she's like, you know, years ago, you served my father in blah blah blah..

"Remember I told you you didn't watch all of the Clone Wars animation, but I told you to watch the last four episodes with ahsoka before she showed up in Mandalorian. So they said that in that she had her homeboy Rex that was one of the clone troopers. And she had to save him from that. So that was because the way it works is there's a behavioral chip implanted in every clone. And that behavioral chip wants order 66 is triggered. It snaps and turns them. So this is like when it started. So basically Palpatine was quietly raising this entire clone army to because he knew, I guess he couldn't take out the Jedi's and just say, hey, let's go with the Jedi. So he built up around them a whole army that would turn on them and yeah. Well, because prior to the Clone Wars, there was never a formalized army of the republic. The republic is just a collection of planets that had independent armies. Similar to if you think about state militias. Okay. It was like a confederacy. Yeah. Exactly. But basically execute order 66 means that most of the Jedi's all the way in one fell swoop. It was the kill order on the Jedi. Continue. When I Googled it and I was like, oh, it's badass. Well, repressive peace Jedi. That's kind of cool. I think I knew about it, but anyway. So the part one, the whole thing I thought was really cool. They gave a good storyline. The only going through, you know, kind of, I think a first episode is very crucial in a lot of these, especially with the most recent ones. You've got to be into it. And I think they've done really well with the first episode of law stuff, even with Boba Fett. It was like, I was like, oh, this is good. This one I thought was really good. The only negative thing I had about it was I did feel like there was a little bit overacting by the third sister. Who was like, I will say, that was that kind of turned me off even early on. When they're there, this was part one right. I think I've kind of blacked out from some of blended together. But when they're in the saloon, was that the first episode? Yeah..

It was interesting to see that mike zimmer a guy who doesn't usually like to blitz a lot in terms of extra blitzer is beyond his defensive line. He brought in nick vigil. Who got a sack. Harrison smith gotta sack on on a blitz as well so they were able to do some different things in bring pressure up the middle with blitzes and of course Pearson the middle. There was was a force he had two sacks on the day to so At any rate those are some early scores there. You had davis. Just singular hardest thing fine honestly really out. You'd have to outsource that. I guess speaking of that before. We get to questions There were some news that came about the dallas. Cowboys were nominated as the team to be highlighted on. Nfl's hard knocks on hbo And john you're ever have just a day where you're like it. Just i guess for lack of better better words brain farts galore like you know you hear news and you're like dude. I knew that why. Why didn't i come out and feed. Seem like i already knew that someone reminds you of something. That's what happened to me with joe. Reedy who used to write for the cincinnati enquirer uncovered the bengals. You're reminded me about the you know the time line of when a team can be back on hard knocks all that kind of stuff but before we kind of tee up the questions from listeners. Do you have any thoughts on the cowboys. Being on hard knocks are interested at all in that storyline in that team. Being on the show it seems like they would have been on it a lot more frequently in years past. But i don't seem to remember the last time they have been on it and has been gone for twenty years. I'm sure they were on in like sometime in the in the two thousands. But i feel like it's been a while since they have been and that's a little bit surprising considering their brand and their following. But you know it's it's following dak prescott recovery I i think there's like some chess storyline between some players. Which maybe they'll get into following jerry jones on his on his one of his many aunts. Maybe so it'd be some good content. Yeah and you've got. I think you you may have touched on a little bit there. The return of and zeke trying to kind of get back to superstardom after you know a couple of years based on injuries around him you know trying to get back to form and cd lamb and you know a lot a lot of different interesting characters and storylines with that. Even though that is a team at an arm's length so to speak with the cincinnati bengals but that came across the wire this morning. all right. so we're going to get to it. We've got some text already coming in. We've got some comments on threads coming in. We've got emails all that stuff so get to us. You can call her tax nine four nine five four two six two four one. So i'm gonna let you bat leadoff your john wet wet question. Do you want to get to so we're gonna go to the cincy. Jungle live common thread. You can buy on there as well. This is from excel hearts coy. He's asking is that his performance has been so bad which is a reference to mike lombardi's comments recently. How come he hasn't lost locker room. I watched some of of his post game press conferences last season. I wouldn't call them inspiring yet. Players seem genuinely excited in what to remain with team bates comes to mind. What gets if anyone answer this. This isn't fantastic. Question this. I'm glad you've you've found this one. Here's here's something. I thought of okay in the latter years with marvin lewis and i've i've been an unabashed Just guy who is supported. What marvin lewis built with the bengals. Obviously i know he never got over the hump and all that kind of stuff but what. He was able to achieve with the bengals based on the previous generation. I give him a ton of credit. A lot of players say a lot of different culture changes took place under marvin lewis however in the last few years marvin lewis every time there was a press conference in as the losses. Kinda piled up. The injuries piled up john. If you will watch some of those press conferences he became agitated. He seemed tired. he seemed just kind of. I don't wanna. I don't wanna say this necessarily and put words in his mouth or whatever but he just kinda seemed a little bit disinterested and now you've got to me. I think what's maybe inspiring some of these players. Maybe they're just kinda doing a little player speak to prop up their coach. That has been struggling. But the thing that i notice. Zack taylor regardless of the losses regardless of the types of losses has shown continues to show confidence continues to show confidence in his own abilities as a coach in the abilities of his staff in the abilities of the players in that locker room and not only that he just he kind of has this You know this youthful energy. That maybe was lacking in the last few years prior to him coming to cincinnati and i think the players feed off of that he is also brought in certain players. That key knows fit his culture and what he wants in that locker room. A guy like mike daniels. He's hung onto some marvin lewis. Guys that he really values so you know that those are the things to me that kind of stick out as to why he hasn't lost the locker room amid all these losses the answer that comes to mind and i think i always go back to mike daniels answer when he was on with us a bag in the spring i think his relationship in communication with his veteran players since the players that he's brought in.

Kemba Walker Rusty, But Also ‘Pain-Free’ In Return For Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks

"Boston celtics had a bad weekend and kimball walking. I would call them. Losers kemba walker. I had a bad return simply because they got smoked at harm by the new york knicks by thirty points and kemba walker made his return now again. He didn't have a great game individually but he got through the game although he did leave in the third quarter with injury. He was fine to return if he could have been. He was that his minutes restriction. So he wasn't gonna come back now. We're getting drilled anyway but kemba walker said after all the right things felt good to be back at their now. It's just a matter of getting some getting his wind back and he's hoping to have that minutes restriction lifted. These things usually take probably three or four games at least Before we get there but one of the probably as a bit crazy we've seen some strange scores a strange result but seeing the boston celtics get absolutely hammered. No jason tatum. Who's out with coronavirus. Right now by thirty to attain the knicks. Who have been awful. Recently was a real big surprise really. I know the celtics hadn't played so they were a bit rusty. But i don't think we really expected them to get hammett what By that much. Good signs for the knicks. Obi toppin they rookie came back Hit two threes as well. We we heard all about how he played at close to the rim. They knocked down threes last night. That's how confident he was feeling. Took four two of them so that was great. Julius randle had another very good game here for the knicks for the celtics. They just couldn't get it going at all here at thirty five points in the first half alone And i think it was only fifty after three quarters they had yes so really shocking performance here from the celtics once they get back once they get jason tatum back. I think they'll be fine but this is the one they want to flush down. The toilet drilled at harm. And that's what the coaches say. I don't really want to evaluate this guy just like let's just flush the toilet.

"Definitely stick around for the mandalorian post credits scene. After the season. Two finale by eliana document warning spoilers. For the mandalorian season two finale below disney announced a slew of new star wars shows during an investor. Call earlier this month. Including to directly tied to the mandalorian and asakusa series and a drama called rangers of the new republic. But the studio wasn't done plumbing the depths of the mandalorian ip at the season. Two finale of the hit disney plus show previewed yet another spin off series set for december. Twenty twenty one. The book of boba. The episode itself was jam packed with action. Mando gathered together a crew to save baby. Yoda now technically called grow goo but baby. Yoda sounds cuter from the villainous. Mov gideon boba fett created a diversion for the rest of the gang and then flew off into space. Mando then secured baby. Yoda and the dark. Saber by defeating moth gideon in battle but faced a dire challenge in the form of the dark troopers legal imperial droids then none other than luke skywalker arrived to save. Mando's posse and take on the child as his apprentice for story reasons. It's rather convenient. That boba fett wasn't around for luke's cameo considering that bobo once hunted down and tried to kill luke in his friends that would have made for an awkward reunion. But that's not the last we see of fat in a post credits scene. He and finnick infiltrate the lay job of the huts palace on tattoo wayne. New occupied by some of bogus old sycophants including bib fortuna. They kill nearly. Everyone led a slave escape and make themselves comfortable on. A Star Wars and Marvel bonanza

"The price hike. It seemed inevitable. I mean it's still cheaper than netflix and considerably cheaper than hvl. Max i would say if people ask me whether or not get disney plus i tend to say like star wars and marvel. Do you have kids at which point. It's definitely word this the sheer volume of content. I'd say it's ok. Okay no for sure. I mean for me. I've got i've got kids. So disney plaza lock. I think anyone who's got a family. This is this is our ramaz. Get a among the many different streaming options that we have nowadays Let's get into the shows. I know star wars near and dear to your heart. So let's let's go there first. They announced or talked about ten shows. Let's let's break out. What are some of the new shows that you're excited for low because of out vehicle order Talk about soka. I dawson brought the character life in live action for the first time in season. Two of the mandalorian and that that's a lot like a backdoor pilot for this show. It's just like suggested that she had her own adventures. going on. this was not a surprise. It is a delight though. It is an interesting we. I think we talked about this earlier. The you know the fact that not to get too deep spoiler as they chee. She was offered a role to mentor. Baby yoda no. You really need to go somewhere else. They felt like definitely had that back door pilot vibe to because like i'm sorry i'm off to other adventures. I've got my own thing. Got to deal with and allow that did seem like a setup for its own show. I'm actually late my own. Tv show salena catch trade this game and it gave a pretty clear idea of what she was up to not to get into splutters between between that and the rebels finale. From a few years ago we have a good idea what her objectives are for this show. Yeah we don't wanna get too deep into spoilers. Maybe we'll we'll devote a whole episode of that later on this year to speculate on what what that might be both water. Somebody other shows that that were announced. It was the next big one we knew this was coming for a long time but they talked about a little with last night and give us a sense that or confirmed that it was filming next march And that christian hated christiansen was returning as dark later. Very very exciting news. That one definitely took me by surprise. tactic territory hidden christmas activator. That's that's interesting. As opposed to advocate skywalker. Which would suggest that he appeared in flashbacks as anikin. But saying he's vader would suggest maybe that he'll appear in four seasons or something that is unclear. It's definitely it's intriguing. Another property was with a character. That's near to many star. Wars fans hearts landau gets his own show yet. These were ten on the ground because we don't know if it's going to be live action or a cgi animated series. I feel like donald glover should be involved. Because he was so well received solo so fingers crossed that he will be returning and then there are a long list of other ones kind of run through them really quickly because we unfortunately only have so much time on this podcast okay so there was the ropes quadrant movie directed by patty jenkins of wonder woman fang which is really exciting. That's super cool. That'd be a fighter pilots. There's the bat batch which will be a follow up to the clone wars at those cartridge orig- use there. There's adore which is about caffeine door from roquan. There's tyco tgi movie which we still don't know what that's about our coop concert raiders of the republic. Which is set around the time. Line of the mandalorian and could be about current june because she became a marshal of the new republic but again that remains unclear star wars visions which is automated shorts from abbey craters. That's really cool quite different the acolytes which obviously is that almost excited with the malls because that is set in the era of the high republic which is two hundred years before the phantom menace. And it's like about some sort of a dark site warrior and it could reveal stuff about the Era some different cool. So those a lot. I know being a super star wars fan. I want to get your opinion on this. Is this too much star wars. It certainly was too much reward announcement. I think parceled out over several years. It should be okay especially since the movies will be quite so frequent. Like i remember when it was only like six months between the last year and solo that felt overwhelming with tv. It's a little different as so you can kind of watch out. I'm at home in a more relaxed environment. it's a lot of star wars. There's no escaping that. Yeah yeah yeah i mean. Brian made a good point before we start recording that you know a lot of these might be one off shows ryden. Obi wan will probably be a one-off sled that that kind of makes sense that they'd wanna have this pipeline but it was a lot to digest all in really what was about thirty minutes a thirty minute presentation just for the star wars section. They're just kept pumping out one announcement after another rapid fire a lot but also i think that's partly a function of the fact that they're no conventions this year star wars celebration was

NBA Draft Rumor Mill

"Two thousand and twenty. Nba draft rumors whether those trade rumors talking about where we're hearing particular players going. We've talked about all the big names already. We've talked about hard and we talked about chris. Paul we've talked about dennis schroder. We've talked about russell westbrook. We talked about minnesota. We talked about golden state. We talked about charlotte. The bulls are sitting there at four. And it's been really interesting. Dinnie obvious name's been floated about. I've heard from multiple sources that that is sheer speculation because of their general manager. Who's an international guy. And what he did in. Denver has nothing to actually do connected with this pick. La bella ball could be there for chicago. Which would be very interesting in the back court that they currently have there. And i've heard a lot of therese albert. I'm here as well as a culture guy and one of the big things that chicago is focusing on his culture right. Now who do you see taking at ford. They have a guy. I applaud the bulls because they have really done a good job of not telegraphing. What they're doing you know they've been connected to a lot of these guys. They've done an above average job. Relative to when teams are leaky of keeping this close to the best And so it's who they end up with. I think if ball is there he makes tons of sense. That's a nice fit with you guys have and the need for a passer and the fact that there are other scorers on the roster where he's not gonna act like be the only guy who's creating anything that's a pretty nice fit so we'll see if he's there we dug into lamelo earlier so i'm not gonna harp on that fit but let's say he's not there and i think allah is a real option. I agree that some of it is the speculation but he does kinda fit their roster as well and i've heard again obi topping. Who's come up for them. A anthony grants Coach dayton was on billy donovan staff previously thunder. So they're obviously going to be well informed about top into. There's some thought that billy donovan can have some input on what they do here. But it's hard to know exactly what his type of player is is. In oklahoma city you had prestige san prestige Decisions with burst now. So how burton has come up another dark horse. I think for that spot. And i'm still not entirely sure what to make of this but it's patrick williams who i know there's at least some degree real interest there. Would they take him at four. It wouldn't be like totally crazy. At this point. It would be high for him. But i mean maybe that's their secret. They have their sleeve It's really tough for me to predict too but right now my guess would be that if there is no ball. I still lean audio. But i don't think it's like a foregone conclusion. I think people are trying to figure chicago right now. Let's talk about patrick williams because it seems to be a foregone conclusion that everybody thinks detroit's taking him it's of and so now the question is will even be there at seven which you know a few weeks ago probably would have been seen as madness. But i've heard talk that. Atlanta is interested in him. I've heard talk. That cleveland is now interested in him. The most of the talking. Cleveland centers around obi top in and dinnie omnia there. And now you're mentioning chicago at four with patrick williams heck widen on the warriors taking to. Is you know patrick williams is. This is the next upside guy right like after you talk about ball edwards and weisman. I think mini scouts see him the next guy he only averaged nine points a game at florida state but that he has this big big ceiling right that he could that he could fit into as a team. Just as a prospect. Is it possible. He's getting over hyped at this point. Do you really see him. As a player that has the next highest ceiling in this draft after ball edwards. In wiseman i have to admit like. I'm not all the way there with him. I have had him graded as a lottery. Guy for a long time towards the end the college season i was like that guy is gonna go ten to twelve. And that's where i had him now. Yeah i didn't expect this type of leap. I guess we might have predicted it because team sent to be a little bit predictable this time of year. You know the the upside guy always the guy. It's without quite john right now but yeah. I think he's very much an idea. And it's worth re-emphasizing that you know. His his body obviously is really promising in terms of how it will hold up defensively. He's going to be versatile. On that end he will have to get a little bit more agile laterally but his is. The value so young is really helpful. Obviously a big factor. You know being the youngest college player in this draft so between that and then you see flashes were really had a pull up jumper. He's did pretty well from the line. I think there's a pretty good chance. He's an above average three point shooter in now you're talking about well. Hey maybe this is a floor spacing combo forward. You can check out. He'll buck shots. He will play good team. Defense and be switchable. That's a pretty in this draft especially when we're like how do we find like even just like a high level player that case is pretty egypt's let's let's say we take that case for. I mean that's a pretty comparable high and dry or if not better. So i see it what i do it at four. I don't know but i understand why this is happening. And i think there teams that you might wanna come up and get him. And that's probably what the pushing them up. The board as well wants wants everybody found out. Detroit was the floor. Change the conversation. It really does. and there. Is this weird psychological dynamic in the draft. That i love it every year. You know jeremy because this thing takes hold oh you like him at seven now. Maybe we at six like there. Is this conversation that starts to happen with these with these boards. And so you know there's so much data and there's so much scouting that's put into this. But the psychology of the draft is the most fascinating fascinating

Houston Texans Fire Bill O'Brien as Head Coach

"Texans owner cal McNair has fired bill. O'Brien as coach in GM as of Monday afternoon the. HOUSTON, Texans are on a winless start to the season and. There have been some really questionable trades and other. Moves that Bill O'Brien has made or not made to improve this football team. I think unfortunately, the McNair family who owns the the Houston Texans I think they're seeing a window that is remaining open for a championship as you have to Shawn Watson a very exciting quarterback and you know you've invested on the offensive line, but you got rid of his best weapon in De'andre Hopkins and. Shed some other players Bill Brian is ruffled feathers of players in the past. If. You remember seeing this team on. or seeing Bill O'Brien on hard knocks. He's got kind of a mouth on him and you know it. It fires people up for sure but it also can work against him. Rub some people the wrong way and you know I think it was time for the at least the Texans felt it was time for them to move on but that's that's two vacancies in one their. Head coach and GM. more details to emerge there but that look I mean we can criticize the Bengals in what they've done. Really. Houston's been pretty successful. They've made a lot of at a lot of playoff appearances and they beat the Bengals a couple of times in the playoffs in the Andy Dalton era. So I understand that there's a little bit of envy there but for right now and how They hit what some of the moves they have made of late is really got to be called into question and. You know. Cleveland Indians suffer wild-card nightmare in 12-3 loss to New York Yankees

"The game last night, Yankees, and Indians and incredible match basis. You had seen Bieber the guy who's been the best pitcher on the planet this. Year versus Garrett Cole the Best Pitcher on the planet last year we thought they were going to be very few runs well, that didn't turn out to be the case, the gigantic right hand hitter leaning out over the plate from the stretch. The pitch is swaying in a high fly ball into right center field Ed's deep racing back to shields at the wall, and that ball is gone homerun Aaron judge and a quick strike for the New York Yankees they jump out in front on Bieber to nothing. Yet Dj Lemay Hugh had singled and then Aaron Judge Rip Day Homerun four pitches into the game. The Yankees at a two old lead on Bieber. Any never recovered this is what happened in the top of the fifth any gleyber Torres at the plate swing a high fly ball into left center field deep on run Naylor back to the wall looking up and that ball is God. In his Outta here it just snuck out off the top of the wall out gleyber Torres with a two run homer. And a Yankees keep slugging away they lead it seven to two. That call from OBI, the Great Obi Dave, O'Brien on ESPN radio the Yankees go on to win twelve to two in game on Garrett Cole was fantastic. He had thirteen strikeouts. No walks. He's a second Yankee pitcher with ten plus strikeouts in the team's first game of the postseason hall of. FAMER. Red. Roughing at ten strikeouts in Game One, the nineteen thirty, two world series against the cubs and with thirteen strikeouts walks Cole also match Tom seaver game one of the Nineteen seventy-three and LCS for the most strikeouts in a postseason appearance without issuing. A. Walk the AKC's four homers in this game tied for the second most in a playoff game. In franchise history, they had five homers in game four of the nineteen twenty eight world series against the cardinals. So when you can match numbers going back to the world series from Nineteen thirty two and nineteen twenty eight says a lot about how much yankees dominated in Game One Garrett Cole talked about his first postseason start with the Yankees. Now there was a lot of fun I mean it was a really complete team day my thought that. The middle innings when. They scored we responded with. Sizeable lead which. I thought was kind of allow them Try Not allow them to get some momentum through news dunes and. We keep on defense become elite runners lean offers off. The bags which was kept a pitch count down and we swap bats really well, and I joined myself so a nice that. You also talked about setting the tone. We need to set the tone for the series and You, know. I'm obviously very painful ambled gable to take the ball in this position So to be able to deliver feels really good and and obviously with my son area thrown felt pretty good too so. Yeah I would say I would say it definitely. was definitely a special night. But especially this year, we allow more baseball to to win so honestly celebrate to get stuff and and And showered off and come back to Marlin through all during the sixty game season Bieber did not allow more than three runs in any starting in this game he allowed seventy talked about his struggles after the game Yes. I felt. Extremely prepared coming into the start just like every other start, the season and. Fell behind first hitter and and that I obviously didn't go as planned. I felt like overall looking back at the outing. Objectively. Just, wasn't as aggressive as I wish I would have been with my ob- speeds of in the zone and maybe some fastballs in and just challenging these guys a little bit more. I felt like I fell behind quite a bit and forced myself into some bad situations and so bad counts, and then you know all that on top of not having my stuff and making mistakes. Amounted to what came out of tonight so No excuses was. It was. Not. The the I start that. We wanted to get out. With and Me personally as well but we got two more games and and cookies go out there and do thing tomorrow and hopefully I'll get the ball back as soon as possible in these three series right away elimination games later today Carlos. "I thought it was about to be midnight for the rafters last night you're down to you lose that game no teams ever overcome through ever in the NBA playoffs in a best of seven but Jay in three point shooting League wouldn't it? Data three, by a guy that had just a dozen points comes through and suddenly. Stunning finish miscommunication by the Boston Celtics is wide jalen Brown was pissed off Jason Tatum. Yeah Jason Tatum. You're supposed to switching everything you're switching when you actually get screened is what they were doing and Jason Tatum for some reason I don't know if they were in his own or if they're a man to man, it seemed like they were in a man to man. And tatum didn't get screened and just pointed opposite side. Nobody was man and Toronto. Now, all of a sudden is in the series to two one man Taco should jump go do something Taco wave your arms seven. No. He was waving his arms but I thought he should have jumped. How to find yor life's purpose

"What we learn about life from fairy tales by Jeff Goings of goings writer dot com. At the beginning of every great story before anything exciting happens we see something that looks a lot like normal life long before the protagonists Lazy Dragon or the heroine embarks on a quest we see her in some unsuspecting place dreaming of something more in beauty and the beasts my personal favorite Disney. Classic Bell Sings of wanting more than this provincial life in Star Wars. Luke can't wait to escape the boredom of a farmer's life and in the wizard of Oz dorothy sings about life somewhere over the rainbow. Is Easy to dismiss such people when we meet them in everyday life as dreamers or even downright crazy but are they really. Pleased get up early on Saturday mornings write essays that I would then save on my computer and share with no one a dreamed of publishing my stories somewhere. But for years, they never left the comfort of my living room. I'm not alone in this. This dreaming of another life does a preoccupation of Bailey and it's a wonderful life and the fixation of Walter Mitty is the reason we sometimes daydream or stay up late watching movies. Our lives are haunted by the ghosts of one might have been. Here's the good news though this is where story always starts with an unrealized dream hope deferred a life lived before chain of events sets the hero on a course to his destiny. Sense that there should be more to life than this. But hopefully that's not where the story ends. An important moment everything begins to make sense. There's a with storytellers call the inciting incident. The moment when the characters perspective changes the tale of an average person living in average life becomes one of mythic proportions but something has to happen for any of this to take place the character must choose to enter the story. Bell goes to find her father. Luke leaves home with OBI Wan. Dorothy, get swept up in a tornado in any great narrative. There's a moment where character decides to be more than a bystander that's really want a story begins with the decision to act. This choice though is often preceded by a link of discontent, which is why when people are called to some great task, they know it they recognize the prompting to do something significant something bigger than themselves and then respond. Why because they've been waiting for it their whole lives. Frustration prepares you for your purpose. My friend Ben Armed says every dream begins with frustration. Think that's true. But that frustration must be funneled into awareness that leads to action. Otherwise, it becomes bitterness. You must be willing to do something to step out into the unknown and see what happens. Until you make this choice, you'll continue feeling frustrated seeing other people succeed chalking it up to lock or some unfair advantage. You'll be jealous and critical wonder why not me and in doing this, he will deceiver self. Because, the truth is some do yet lucky and others have been born into privilege. But what are those things to you? You are still called chances come to us all but only those who are ready recognize them. So before you know what you're calling is your believe your call to something even if you don't know what it is yet that nagging said everything is not as it should be that you were meant for more than the status quo is important clue and what you do with that is essential to how your story unfolds with this means is you don't need some big plan. You just need to be a little dissatisfied with the way. Things are to possess a premonition that something is amiss and you may hold the keys fixing it.

Change in Dominican Republic as opposition wins presidency

"Let's go to the Dominican Republic now where the victory by the opposition part in this weekend's elections has marked the end of sixteen years of rule by the Dominican Liberation Party. The P. L. D.. The newly elected president Louis Shabina dare managed to capture fifty two point fifty three percent of the vote, well earlier I was joined on the line from the Dominican Republic's. Republic's capital not Sunday Domingo by bridget wooding, who's the director of the think tank, Obi m I, see a or center for immigration, observation and social, development in the Caribbean bridget started by giving us a bit of context and explaining just how significant the results are very significant, because we're talking about change after sixteen years of ruling party and we're talking. Talking about an almost exact reversal of what happened in the elections for years ago when the President Danilo Medina got in with sixty one percent of the vote against thirty four percent of our be now there, and as you mentioned now I've been there has with the fifty percent needed and Danilov menace stouffer. His candidate from the ruling party got only thirty four percent. percent or so of the vote, so if we're looking at something, which is which is very significant, all the way along President Medina had sought to transfer his popularity to his chosen candidate on solid casteel, but in fact council steel was probably the weakest candidates that he had because unsubtle casteel was involved with public works, which has been notorious for different corruption scandals. But then the President Danilo Medina thought that with Kobe nineteen. He would have things in his favor. There would be a kind of swath vote for the way. He was dating with things, but that was not to be because. Since January two, thousand, seventeen, this being the Green March movement against corruption, and the fact that disparities between rich and poor had been rolling, and there were a number of journalists who actually lost their jobs trying to denounce this, so this became a big issue, the government, totally of note, the evidence and the president. Medina also took further actions to control the judiciary, but what also happened was that the former president Leonel Fernandez split from the ruling party, and that divided what had been a pretty Monolithic party up over the last sixteen years, and he did it by suggesting that certain casteel the nominee President Medina had been put in by false means. But there was a thought that were things to go to a second round up. The ex-president learn finance might have gone in with with consol. But what was the most decisive thing that happened this year was that on the sixteen to February nineteen elections, there was a glitch and e-voting could not take place, and so, what happened then was that the elections were. Left right and center, but this was corruption. And especially, the millennials who had begun to take to the streets along with other you know in many Latin, American capitals so in recent months, really caught a bit between their teeth and the middle class, which had kept the ruling party in power for sixteen years, suddenly began to feel that they've been robbed up the wrong way. The things were things were unraveling now. The government you know is the country's largest employer, but even those that it was keeping in their pay when along a satisfied. Feeling change had to happen, and that was the ticket on which the new president has got in and posted to surprise then I mean it was clear that the tide was turning, but did you ever think that actually he would overturn the sixteen years of Monolithic rule I think all the more recent polls have shown that he's definitely in the lead. I think what was worrying. was that at the last minute that Kobe number? would be used as a cover to dissuade more middle class voters perhaps from going to vote, and also the usual tactics of paying people to vote or giving people handouts prior to elections this time it didn't work with the with the exception perhaps of the government in some of the poorest province near the border, but it didn't work the because people were determined the change and I think this is. Of what's happening in a number of Latin America where people do feel the need for change, and corruption is a big issue, and people feel that it should be tackled also covid nineteen demonstrated again the dispatch between rich and poor because those people who. Are Not documented migrants people have been nationalized. He had don't have access to government programs, and this doesn't look good in the face of the sustainable development goals. It doesn't look good in the face of the international community, so something was going to break I think, but nevertheless I think. People woke up. Fight surprised that it had happened so smoothly and things didn't go to a second round. This Sunday. Do you think that people would just then voting against the status quo, or was there something specific that abner was offering? What made his campaign so successful? I think he was really offering to clean things up, and so if you the bar next to my house today after elections happen, it was saying the whites have gone got in his Richmond from the cradle. They don't need to rob. So, there was the sense that. That These were people who have. had a different kind of agenda, and all walks of life seeing that. that there have been just too much of a monolithic hold on every aspect of society and under change was necessary, but I think the corruption thing was important, and then the fact that normally elections happen on the no glitches, but this glitch that happened in February with the elections and the feeling that there was something going on under. Probably the think was more likely with the incumbent party. I think those were the two decisive things that make people think. Yeah, we do need a change and finally bridget. What can we expect from his presidency? What will apart obviously from corruption be the main issues on the agenda? Well, obviously we have a big health crisis on our hands, and as you can see the Dominican probably is one of the worst countries in the insular. Caribbean and the election mobilization hasn't held so I think we're going to have to go back to the state of a state of emergency. The new governor will also be slightly tied in terms of how far it can go in more imaginative on policy, more imaginative domestic policy because it did do a deal in this S- i Brown with some of the more ultra nationalist sectors of society, and so they're going to have to reckon with that. I think trying to was cleaning up corruption, trying to create more jobs and trying to ensure the disparities between rich and poor are not sensu it'd such that in this pandemic. All can be served healthwise and in future crisis, people are not going to be discriminated one way or another. And that was bridget. Lots of background birdsong on the line from Santa Domingo.

A Turning Point: Race Relations In Sports

"It has now been more than four weeks in George. Floyd was murdered nearly a month since we all watched him. Take his last breaths. It feels like so much is different, but real actionable change that takes time. Many who took to the streets in protests have now resumed their daily lives, so now seems appropriate to discuss how sport will handle affairs moving forward. As North American teams and Leagues Continue Their Return to play processes. It is vital that the conversations and promises made when the racial issue was hottest that they do not go away. In a few moments, we will welcome in our panel to discuss how that should happen, but first a look at how we got here in the first place. He will have color have been argued about beliefs, and that's not right. That's not right by any was standards. The point he was making gut twisted from the start. The beginning when Colin Kaepernick I made is public protests peacefully heap I sat on the bench during the national anthem to bring awareness. There's a lot of things that need to change once one specifically police brutality. There's people being murdered unjustly and not being held accountable. It was the summer of two thousand sixteen, when he bursts truly used his platform as an NFL quarterback to speak out against systemic racism by police in the weeks leading into that preseason payment. San Francisco capper Nick had watched. We all had. To white officers pinning down Alton Sterling. And pumping. into his chest and back. He saw the traffic stop in Minnesota when Philander Casteel was killed in front of his girlfriend in charge. And captured it could not understand how mental health therapist Charles Kinsey could be shot by police when he was lying on the ground with his arms up in the air, people of color have been targeted by police. Cops are getting paid leave. For killing people. That's not right. That's not right by anyone's standards. And yet from the beginning law in. pre-game gesture was misrepresented and downright manipulated. The Christ came that he was disrespecting the flag that it was a slap in the face to military personnel. But when active soldiers pointed out, they serve to provide their citizens with the freedom of speech that capture nick was exercising. That narrative quickly was quashed when army veterans who had been in battle, echoed that very sentiment out of national football league buildings team needs I would be disappointed if any of our players didn't stand up for the national anthem personally. I, look at that as a salute to the people who have paved the way for us. Our Organization believes that. You should. Respect the flag and so you'll save those individual decisions to expression show. On individual form. And that became the prevalent message. Don't do it here. Stick to sports. The underlying tone. How dare you protest without our approval we're. Do you get off? Colin Kaepernick criticizing anyone in another uniform. Right the men and women lead for this, I- scenic. First hand. For. Somebody do that to get paid millions of dollars. It's ridiculous. Cabinet remained undeterred. United States Army Bet. Nate! Boyer who did tours of duty in Iraq, and Afghanistan encouraged him to kneel and not sit. By, taking a knee voyeur told him you show your respect for fallen brothers that way. So capture nick did. And then more NFL players followed. And yet the public and political conversation in the US would not steer toward police brutality. No matter how much star athletes peacefully attempted to. And the leader in America's biggest chair. Amy Shirley Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners? When somebody disrespects our flag to say, get that son of a job appealed right now out each fire. I! Capture Nick became a source of division for standing up against injustice. He hasn't taken a snap since that twenty sixteen season. And at this year Super Bowl USA. Today's jared bell minced no words on why that is I. Think it's pretty obvious. He's been blackballed for Colin Kaepernick not to have a job is just. It's the worst look for the NFL. No conversation was more dominant inside NFL. Locker rooms that season than the Kapernick one teams are made up of players of all ages of all backgrounds of so many ethnicities. If you actually want to listen to different perspectives. If you're an athlete who would want to hear what your peers had to say, there would be no shortage of takes to soak in. But fundamentally the want would be to understand capper knicks fundamental point. After George Floyd one of the League's biggest stars reminded us that many still didn't I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country. Maybe that was the crossroads moment because the reaction to. It felt like something had changed almost as. That won't cut. It anymore drew. brees in the rest of the NFL were told right away, the new. Orleans quarterback came under fire. The players in the league had just about enough of the establishment silence. They had captured message. They were not gonNA. Let owners and Roger Goodell get away with it this time. Would have other Jewish Knowledge George if I was. I was George Void. Jewish. And say hi in. Regard. To me right. Breezes all pro receiver found Dallas's bruising runner and Houston's electrifying quarterback, and Kansas City Super Bowl Mvp. And Obi. And they all let you know. We. Condemn Racism and assistant. Matic oppression of black people. National League, admit wrong and silence our players from protesting. Also. Black lives matter black lives matter. Like loves. To Have Patrick Mahomes the next superstar the NFL. Front and center. That was massive. And the very next night the commissioner uttered the words you never imagined would happen. We the National Football League Immune. We were wrong for not listening NFL players earlier. And encourage all speak out in peacefully protests. Read the National Football League believe black lives matter. Progress. Probably a step forward. You want to believe so. The day after the commissioner changed his tune, breeze went to social media again. He'd already made his hollow apologies without actually saying sorry, and he finally seemed to be listening to what some teammates had to say, and after all of that even drew brees somewhat stood up to the president. It won't Change Donald Trump of course, but maybe it will make others think. Perhaps it will create more uncomfortable conversations to allow for a greater understanding among all of us. And at the very least it has given others throughout sport. To have the freedom to finally say their piece open believing they may at last be heard. Or country is in, trouble. Basic reason is race. You're seeing an example of future. That's fighting for you for you. Right now a fine for you got a grandfather that march legs. Dr King in the sixties. And he was amazing. You'll be proud to see us all. Got Pushing? Forward Doing Casey marched with his family. Members of Detroit's organization. An NBA coach using his voice. Over in Jacksonville Jaguars personnel were among the demonstrators. North Philly's finest. He walked. Kyle Lowery's we can. Priorities were set. This though. This is just the start. To silence of countless elites spoken loud. Until you see action from an, don't forget by the leaks themselves. We wonder what the real commitment to progress actually is. What capper protests was about from. The beginning can no longer be debated. And it is now crystal clear to all of us that no athlete should just shut up and dribble. Nelson Mandela famously said. Sport has the power to change the world. Since George, Floyd perhaps we have learned that change can come more from our sporting icons using their voice platform in pursuit for justice than any jumper were swing. Or goal or touched them. Stick to sports. Sure let's stick to sports bettering the world in a new way. Let's start hearing the real message now. And most of all, let's not get the words and actions like Hafer. Knicks twisted. When he tried to begin the real conversation. Before US AGO!
