"O. R. but if such a leader moon remember we have a show every night at midnight every night to be together here on W. O. R. posted about Harvard lawyer and you could say well Harvard lawyer must be super smart and always do the right things well maybe yes maybe no let's talk about this gentleman came to me yesterday sixty six years old he's married he's has five children and he was fine until fourteen years ago fourteen years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer fourteen years ago then fourteen years ago he decided not to do anything about the cancers we would've been fifty two years old it's a while fifty two normal man in America live to be about eighty six going to have a live thirty years with a cancer growing in his body watch and wait doing nothing yeah is a Harvard lawyer you can say okay smart man but sometimes even smart people don't do the best things for themselves or maybe their doctors kind of god to them in a way that was so great or maybe heard about surgery or radical surgery or robotic surgery causing so much harm that he just didn't want to have surgery and maybe is a surgeon who did the biopsy was pushing in for surgery a lot of surgeons urologists do that I know that because I see many patients every day with cancer and I see many people who feel that being pushed and if you look at the data for open or robotic surgery you'll see that most men ninety seven percent will damage the sexual life more than eighty percent will damage the urinary life so it's you might say use fifty two year old man and he wasn't eager to be peeing his pants or B. M. but maybe that's why he refused surgery but there are other treatments that are of great results and I can tell you ours has great results with ninety nine percent of men keeping their your inner life for the vast majority keeping the sexual life well anyway fourteen years passed and then he finally gets the new PSA and it's eighteen hundred his PSA went up to eighteen hundred and he has widespread cancer and he started Lupron therapy just a few months ago he waited fourteen years to be treated as a Harvard lawyer fourteen years until his PSA went up to eight eighteen hundred normal PSA is for four point zero so this is about four hundred and fifty times which is what four thousand five hundred percent increase from normal and he started on Lupron therapy which is hormone therapy and it stopped working in the PSA keeps on going up and he started other treatments immunotherapy lakeside teak next dandy and stop work and and his cancer is just keeping on growing in this pain is bad ideas pain in his shoulder and pain in his hip yes pain is very stalwart command is not one to want to say that he's in pain but his cancer eating through his bones and he has a new bone scan showing cancers eating through the bones and getting worse while he's getting treated and while he heard about our work and I met with him and I met with his wife he's been married to this woman and she obviously loves them and there's lots of questions and of course I always had lots of questions for him to learn about what went through his head what motivated him not to have treatment at age fifty two two more or less so the way we give up the chance to be cured he gave up a chance to be cured most likely fourteen years ago if you'd come to us with our excellent results you most likely would have been cured kept his sexual life kept as your inner life this is the work that we do every day and so how can we help this man with metastatic cancer rose lots we could do number one to try to get on the road to recovery number two we can try to get rid of his pain and suffering number three we could treat him in a more effective manner we know that our method of treatment for his cancer of the bone and cancer of the prostate is highly effective where we attack the cancer with good results in general this is the work we do we have lots of information to give him their votes information to give you about prostate cancer both primary prostate cancer that means in the prostate itself and metastatic cancer in the bones with a travels and causes terrible pain and terrible suffering like it's doing to him and this Randy has symptoms both from the prostate where the cancer's uncontrolled is urinating four times minimum and items here and it's ten times a night ten times a night is cancer's uncontrolled with the president in the bones and this is the work we do and about watchful waiting well there's multiple studies that show that men who get treated have a lower death rate from prostate cancer and the reason to be treated for prostate cancer is to have a lower death rate and to live a normal life we have lots of information we have books and DVDs you can call and if you're a watchful waiting person if you're afraid of radical surgery no friend of robotic surgery I understand that and you may wish to get a fresh second opinion here to learn about other treatments that are well tolerated with a high.

"In this war against the coronavirus seven ten W. O. R. now here's marks well will the president order a national locked down there's been talk of that he says no at first well the no one thinks it can really be effective a national lockdown ordered by the president would have to be carried out by governors and mayors so it's really up to them at the the really is national life then lot of places ordering it now that hadn't before Florida in the mayor of Los Angeles now one eight and not only locked up ask you every resident to wear a face mask when they go out I don't know really at this this is a lot of debate on whether that's necessary whether it could prevent ME if you had it it would prevent you from giving it to anybody but you gotta figure of doctors and nurses health care workers awareness it does some good and they say if you don't have a face mask use a scarf use a bandanna anything is just as good Hey let's take a call or two let's take some calls eight hundred three two one zero seven ten what's your people are doing Allen in New Jersey Allan how how you doing mark Hey doc Martin will start saying like yeah you keep going back to China China lied and people died that's why this is going on China could dandy to flight how does China instead they put it all over the world with respect to people loaded with effective people and they knew it and and it seems like they maybe didn't send them to Russia or Russia knew that China was lying because they probably need to have you know they did very close to and then then when you think about it Jan Russia are at the site with the oil thing and that that cut themselves China and Russia could be worse you know this is a very I've been a good point about China but Alan thanks for calling it's a good point listen clearly absolutely China lied it broke out in China how did everybody get it wrong in January even Dr Fauci said this doesn't look bad in January January twenty first it does look bad don't have to worry about it everybody was saying that back then the New York times even ran a story late in January was that February saying don't don't be afraid to travel to China you can go to China how did we get it wrong it's pretty apparent now that China completely lied about the numbers you know if you look at the totals now where we have a hundred hundred and eighty thousand in China only had eighty five how did China only have eighty thousand and the number of deaths looks lower than ours will even doctor Burke said it the other night clearly they lied it's impossible everything is off with their numbers the number total number is the ratio numbers the rates everything is off and makes absolutely no sense of clearly China totally lied about it if you look at Russia now you look at the map of all the places where the virus exist very little in Russia how could such a big country have so few cases everybody now believes that Russia is just simply lying about it and covering up I will just go to bill who's calling from Dobbs ferry bill how you doing William I want issue about governor Cuomo a paper shredder portion doesn't kill new born babies how can you justify killing a newborn baby may I didn't do it and first of all you said governor Cuomo I know we don't say that that's a very common this is government anyway right down you get yourself excited you see you've been watching too much MSNBC calm down and take it easy bill but the thanks for calling let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn events and more good morning doctor first you should do is put a mask over built the blouse you learn.

"O. R. and that we are live this evening and I hope you are all doing well I hope everyone listening is safe and has protected themselves and how do you protect yourself from the the the virus it said just stay away from people stay away yeah I get as much delivered to you as possible leave the curtains outside leave the curtains at your door you know put on gloves you should have some gloves they're not in short supply really so he's a little you know doesn't have to be fancy because vitamin they could be vinyl they could be not trial you can even use gloves that you wash the dishes with the latex gloves as long as you then wash the gloves at least you're not getting the virus on your skin so leave the carport outside bring in the packages that's another tip how to not bring the virus into your apartment or at your house all right well we have this evening doctor Jessica Israel she's the senior vice president of geriatrics and palliative care for our W. J. Barnabas health so now covert nineteen that's the corona virus was declared a a global epidemic March twelfth eighty percent of patients who developed the infection will have a mild respiratory illness cough sore throat fever about twenty percent get maybe a more severe illness the smaller number of this twenty percent can have infection that can even be fatal the majority of people have the more serious infection are older other with chronic underlying medical illness like heart lung disease weak immune systems there the people at risk and we were talking about the corona virus earlier but we have a true true expert now doctor Jessica Israel's again she's the senior vice president geriatrics and palliative care R. for RWJBarnabas health and she's going to discuss what older adults in particular need to know about cove it nineteen Dr Israel welcome thanks for having me doctor Perry and and thank you which we tried to do this last week we had our dry run but that not quite that this week you're here and I want to thank you because we're we're still in a period where this this virus this epidemic this pandemic is getting a little bit worse so what can people do to limit the risk of it their exposure to a coke at nineteen so it is really exactly what you said before people need to stay at home that is the biggest thing that can't that people can do socially distancing alone at home frequently washing your hands it sounds so simple but that's critical the viruses is really unstable enough open water environment so you wash your hands if there's anything on your hands you're gonna get you're gonna take care of it if you don't have to open water nearby you can use hand sanitizer as long as that at least sixty percent alcohol and then the other thing would be to wipe down high contact areas doing ops are a big deal countertops bathrooms things like that on a regular basis just to make sure that that everything is as clean as possible I think the two biggest things wash your hands and stay at home all right now now how about you know what what if someone has a ticket they just spent tens of thousands of dollars for their their mate or their family to go on a cruise should they be going on a cruise I mean is that a ridiculous question now so I mean a lot a lot has really changed in the last couple weeks and you know last week when we were talking about this interview we were really explaining what social distinction lies and I was saying they'll have cruise ships they offer their planes now those things are becoming really more mandated so now I'm going on a cruise I would not recommend going on an airplane I wouldn't recommend social distancing is still critically important so we learn from history that one a lot of people are together in a small confined space and that doesn't mean inside a ship not a as the only small construction fine face that means you know at a wedding but a hundred people died if you have an incredibly contagious illness like this virus is that where these things spread so staying away from each other in is the most important thing so now do you believe that I said a little earlier do you believe people should just stay in their home I do I do but I know that that can also be anxiety provoking it's hard to stay home and not know when this is going to end there's so much uncertainty from for many people so it's important to know when to reach out to your healthcare professional if you're feeling super anxious and also to draw on your own life experience you know for someone who's eighty years old they have eighty years of experience knowing what works for them to relieve anxiety when there are times of stress is it doing a puzzle is it writing a letter to someone you love is it.

"O. R. here we go once again on a Wednesday it's all you know it's only once talking about and what are they doing and how they coping and where they're going or not going Friday is the big day I mean they'll be some showers around but high in the mid seventies you know that is going to entice people though to go out when it's in the seventies because yesterday when I was riding my bike there were tons of people jogging and riding their bikes around the city there were no cars no traffic but a lot of people I won't be pushed their crazy people just can't I stay inside all day long tough especially when the weather's nice now it's tough Hey I Lisa bloom she's the founder and owner of the bloom a law firm that she is representing the first client the first client was brought a copy of coronavirus discrimination can case against employer Lee said give us the details yes good morning my client is a health care worker here in California he was exposed in the workplace because he wasn't given proper protective gear by his employer so he was sent home because he was exposed that is appropriate and then the next day he was fired that is illegal and we're really outraged about this and we are demanding that the employer do the right thing I'm not revealing who it is right now because we're giving up one chance to do the right thing take him back and if they don't we will suit Lisa what was the reason his employer gave him for being fired they give a reason that was a performance issue that he had had a couple months earlier but that had been resolved yet never even got a written warning or any kind of right at our end he was fired the day after he was sent home from being exposed Lisa I mean you were you know you get all the cases out there I do think this is just the beginning of this or anything this is an out liar I have no question that this is just the beginning and I am here to say that all of the laws are still in place we may be living in a crazy time you know I've been self quarantine it for about a week now and send myself working before that I understand the risks everybody must be careful everybody should stay home but it is still illegal to discriminate against somebody because of a medical condition or here in California even a perceived medical condition even if you think somebody has it in your wrong you still cannot fire them for that reason and my god you know let's have a heart people need their jobs they need their healthcare they need their income I mean this is just wrong so what we see you're pretty so with the with the way the case stands now you're going to give the simpler the chance to do the right thing before you hit him with a lawsuit yes this is the way that we generally perceive at my law firm the bloom firm definitively write them a strong letter that we represent this person's decision wrong you have one check do the right thing because frankly what he wants is his job back he doesn't want a lawsuit that's how most of my clients feel and if they take them back good for them they made a mistake they want to rectify it good if not we are going to file a lawsuit over this and I think it's a strong case and I think we will prevail and I want all employers to know this is illegal you cannot do it you can send somebody home you should send somebody home they've been exposed or if they're sick but you can't fire them over it okay so let's say if you're if you're not happy with their one chance you give them when you when you do file lawsuits to you I mean do you file so just to get his job back just for lost wages or you you know the try to tack on punitive damages as well great question so you know I won one of the biggest trial verdicts last year for a sexually harassed worker who was fired after she complained that verdict is now worth over fifteen million dollars so we speak every remedy that's available under the loss of lost wages call back pay front pay everything they've lost up to the date of trial and then going forward but the biggest part is the emotional distress damages the devastation of losing your job based on an illegal act like discrimination or harassment many of my clients have post traumatic stress syndrome they are very upset their therapists will come in and testify we get other psychological expert and especially now as we are going into what I believe is going to be a major depression this is a terrible time to lose your job it's very difficult to get another job you know they're just trying up every day we're seeing massive layoffs so I'm you can just be huge and yes Canada damages I mean this is a health organization that did this to him you know of all organizations they should have known better please if you think this is going to be sort of a a one off or an isolated incidents or you know with your experience with employers are some players gonna use data virus as a way to sort of shed unwanted workers yeah I think this is just the beginning unfortunately work and I've been practicing law for thirty three years when I was in law school with the aids epidemic that was raging and I organized the first national aids legal conference in the country to say you cannot discriminate against people with aids at that time you know that was the big problem that was rampant they're firing everybody a lot of gay people were getting fired just because they were perceived to have eight and this is very similar to me there's a great deal of fear some of it is well placed I'm not going to say you know we should all just ignored us this is a very serious situation but never the less people's jobs are very important to them and as I said you can send people home that's fine my staff were all working remotely in three cities were working from home is ideal but you just can't fire them over perceived medical condition or real medical condition all right Lisa bloom founder and owner of the bloom law firm thanks Lisa thanks Lisa thanks guys stay safe that's that that's the case is a slam dunk oh absolutely campfire some you can't fire anyone when the real right now they're going to claim a previous workplace problem but there's nothing ever filed now no complaints no paper trail nothing like that so this reminder today's.

be with you all right so are you telling people you know be a little bit wary but dead let's not let's not panic yet well I think we should have a level of concern that is proportionate to the challenge in front of us so we certainly are aware that your show is the most significant hot spot for for for the virus in New York state there are many people who are worried about their own health of the whole health of their neighbors health of their friends plus there's a disruptive impact to many of the public health measures that have been put in place certainly for those who are under quarantine they can't go to school they can't go to work they can't have normal interactions with the life of the community and now with the closure of various schools within the containment zone that impact so a larger number of families as well but I also think it's critical that we not allow that a portion of concern to escalate into panic or hysteria that is simply unjustified by the facts there is a fair amount I think of misunderstanding of what the containment sound really means it's not an exclusion zone it's not a quarantine zone people are not prohibited from entering or leaving it doesn't have any impact on individuals or families or businesses it is simply a limitation on the large gatherings within a geographic area in an effort in an effort to mitigate the spread of the virus this is a sensible public health precaution that was recommended by the state health commissioner and acted upon by the governor of the city has been working hand in glove with both state and county authorities we will continue to do so and does so again while we are concerned about the situation obviously if anyone would be I'm proud of the fact that people in there shall have risen to the occasion are taking guidance from public health professionals are adjusting to changing circumstances are being entirely supportive of their neighbors and I'm confident we'll get through this a mayor and we're I was mayor no in Branson the mayor of newer shell people here the National Guard has been called in they start to get nervous so can you tell us what the role of the guard will be in new Rochelle and I'm glad you're asking does that too is a subject that is created a little bit of confusion the card is going to be here to assist with logistics and operations that are related to this crisis and that's principally delivering food to students who qualify for free or reduced lunches there are thousands of such students that are going to be impacted by school closures and the challenge of delivering to them is one that far exceeds our local capacity and resources so we need that help they're also going to be assisting with cleaning various locations which are open to the public but they will not be here in order to militarize the city or assume policing functions or stab with roadblocks at street corners it's not as though never shows going to be under martial law the card is here purely to assist us and to the extent that we can emphasize that I think it'll help address any public misunderstanding and any concerns that may flow from you have concerns and and how bout your local merchants there are people starting to get worried about the economic impact that this is going to have well there's no doubt that a particularly in the white hill area or shell which is where the outbreak has been concentrated there has been an impact on the business district made up their portion of the customer base is literally quarantined and men cannot go out and for others there may be a an understandable desire to sort of avoid an area that is perceived as having a a concentration of the virus we try to remind people that it's not as though the virus sort of surrounds an area like a cloud it is passed through close contact between individuals and just for example the county executive and I a few days ago made a point of having lunch at a kosher Asian restaurant like bill in order to demonstrate confidence in the business community and confidence in the neighborhood as a whole over the long term I have no concerns we have a robust business community we have downtown that is benefiting from significant investment and development we're gonna be okay over the long run but yes I am concerned that there will be an impact on some businesses in the short term and those of us who are healthy adults we should practice sensible social distancing should avoid large gatherings but in other respects should not withdraw the life and commerce of our community that would be an unjustified over reaction that would create its own problems well you striking the right tone there mer known brands and the mayor of new Rochelle thanks for your time we appreciate it thanks to be with this reminder today's land Berman and Michael Riedel in the morning continues now morning six till ten seven ten W. O. R. einer as the founder of a small business I know first hand how difficult it can be to manage their cash flow problems when I try to borrow money the banks wouldn't touch me and I got a lot.

"O. R. but if such a leader meant remember we have a show every night at midnight every night to be together here on W. O. R. posted about Harvard lawyer and you could say well Harvard lawyer must be super smart and always do the right things well maybe yes maybe no let's talk about this gentleman came to me yesterday sixty six years old he's married he's has five children and it was fine until fourteen years ago fourteen years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer fourteen years ago ten fourteen years ago he decided not to do anything about the cancers we would've been fifty two years old it's a while fifty two normal man in America live to be about eighty she's going to have a live thirty years with a cancer growing in his body watch and wait doing nothing yeah it is a Harvard lawyer you could say okay smart man but sometimes even smart people don't do the best things for themselves or maybe their doctors kind of god to them in a way that was so great or maybe heard about surgery or radical surgery or robotic surgery causing so much harm that he just didn't want to have surgery and maybe is a surgeon who did the biopsy was pushing him for surgery a lot of surgeons urologists do that I know that because I see many patients every day with cancer and I see many people who feel they've been pushed and if you look at the data for open or robotic surgery you'll see that most men ninety seven percent will damage the sexual life more than eighty percent will damage the urinary life so it's you might say use fifty two year old man and he wasn't eager to be peeing his pants or B. M. put it maybe that's why he refused surgery but there are other treatments that are of great results and I can tell you ours has great results with ninety nine percent of men keeping their your inner life for the vast majority keeping the sexual life well anyway fourteen years passed and then he finally gets the new PSA and it's eighteen hundred his PSA went up to eighteen hundred and he has widespread cancer and he started Lupron therapy just a few months ago he waited fourteen years to be treated as a Harvard lawyer fourteen years until his PSA went up to eight eighteen hundred normal PSA is for four point zero so this is about four hundred and fifty times which is what four thousand five hundred percent increase from normal and he started on Lupron therapy which is hormone therapy and it stopped working in the PSA keeps on going out but he started other treatments immunotherapy lakeside teak next dandy and start work in and this cancer is just keeping on growing in this pain is bad ideas pain in his shoulder and pain in his hip yes pain is very stalwart command he's not one to want to say that he's in pain but his cancer eating through his bones and he has a new bone scan showing cancers eating through the bones and getting worse while he's getting treated and well you heard about our work and I met with him and I met with his wife he's been married to this woman and she obviously loves them and there's lots of questions and of course I always had lots of questions for him to learn about what went through his head what motivated him not to have treatment at age fifty two two more or less so that way give up the chance to be cured he gave up a chance to be cured most likely fourteen years ago if you'd come to us with our excellent results you most likely would have been cured kept his sexual life kept as your inner life this is the work that we do every day and so how can we help this man with metastatic cancer rose lots we could do number one to try to get on the road to recovery number two we can try to get rid of his pain and suffering number three we could treat him in a more effective manner we know that our method of treatment for his cancer of the bone and cancer of the prostate is highly effective where we attack the cancer with good results in general this is the work we do we have lots of information to give him we have lots of information to review about prostate cancer both primary prostate cancer that means in the prostate itself and metastatic cancer in the bones with a travels it causes terrible pain and terrible suffering like it's doing to him and this Randy has symptoms both from the prostate where the cancer's uncontrolled is urinating four times minimum a night time of the year and it's ten times a night ten times a night is cancer's uncontrolled with the president and the bones and this is the work we do and about watchful waiting welders multiple studies that show that men who get treated have a lower death rate from prostate cancer and the reason to be treated for prostate cancer is to have a lower death rate and to live a normal life we have.

"Dot O. R. G. well one of the men was fifty eight years old he has a child has diabetes and colon cancer he had colon Oscar P. done and he was trying to have a sigmoid colon cancer which were the big hospitals the one who radical surgery at this hospital almost three years ago and well he came to me because he just did not want to have radical surgery he had no pain no bleeding he did lose weight you went from two OO five to one eighty five is five feet seven I saw him we got all those records you call that hospital we got the records at the hospital the one through the surgery and he just did not want to have surgery this is two years ago he came to me I should stay about two years ago it was born in Barbados he is fifty eight years old and we treated him for his colon cancer when the patient just did not want to have surgery and chemotherapy for his colon cancer and we treated them two years ago then he's in remission doing well feeling fine so happy that he came to us rather than have radical surgery for his colon cancer it was to go around the seventy four very youthful looking looks more like fifty four seventy four is a watchman security guard he single as those children who came to me five years ago for a check up here blood from the **** it was urinating at night we check them out and we found that kidney cancer had a kidney mass and we know that usual with kidney masses the urologist want to remove the kidney do surgery even without a biopsy in this round saw urologist three courage all that and he came back because he just did not want to have loss of his kidney what we offered a biopsy and he accepted that or we did a biopsy of the kidney and showed cancer that we talked about all the options for kidney cancer I should say we do something also very different than the usual treatment usually reserved for move the kidney without a biopsy we here we do a biopsy because we find a lot of people don't even have cancer of the kidneys the kidneys removed and those are all whoops who have cancer and what is a patient of a say why'd you remove my healthy kidney if it wasn't cancer so we like to do biopsies if the patient wants and we can then do non invasive treatment like this man had five years ago five years ago he walked in with no kidding the symptoms and it says it's a lesson really that you don't have to have pain or suffering or bleeding to have kidney cancer so we found the kidney cancer we offered treatment we treated him and now five years later from that kidney cancer he is cancer free and he comes on a regular basis to have check ups the check up of his entire body and he's cancer.
