"The controversy alive? Can Mike white keep playing? Well, what happens if Mike white throws her like 350 yards and wins over the bills on Sunday? What do you do? I want that. That's a storyline I'm rooting for, so bill's jets is interesting because of Mike white. If Mike white has a terrible game, I'll talk about it. It's noteworthy what happened. But not exciting. Game number three, the Lions at Pittsburgh, the lines are zero and 8. I believe they're gonna get their very first win this week on the road in Pittsburgh. The lines have been close to winning a couple of times. They mean, remember, the lions either they either were tied, I think they actually had the lead over Green Bay. When they played the packers, they led at halftime. The lions can compete. They just have a quarterback problem. They block. The lines have found a way to lose a game, basically every way you can. This year, the lions are better than zero and 8. They're not great, but they definitely are better than an O and 8 record and Pittsburgh has a tendency because I think it's I think it's cultural issue on the team where the laxative. They're not as they don't get up for bad games. I believe the Lions win in Pittsburgh, I'm calling my shot now. Don't forget that if I'm right, I want praise if I'm wrong. I'll be like, I'm an idiot. Every argument you make is that Pittsburgh is going to it makes sense on paper that Pittsburgh would beat the lines, but man, I actually don't think so. I really think the Steelers are not as good as I think their record would show and the lines are definitely way better than the record would show. And the lines are hungry. And emotionally, the match appears a hungry lines team against a Pittsburgh team that tends to not show up when there's nothing expected of them. So I believe the lines win in Pittsburgh. Number four, the falcons at the cowboys Dan quin the cowboys defensive coordinator used to be the head coach in Atlanta. So it's him against his former team plus dialysis coming off of a really bad loss to Denver. They were losing 30 to nothing with 6 minutes left against Denver. I believe the cowboys win big over Atlanta at home. Number 5, the browns at the Patriots, both teams are 5 and four. The Patriots and the browns are both fighting to get into the playoffs. You have Mac Jones playing better and better every week. Baker Mayfield lost OBJ. It seems like without OBJ Baker Mayfield's a better quarterback somehow, I have no idea what to expect. And that's kind of why this is a great game. It's a good matchup that is unpredictable. And maybe the Patriots win with a blowout, maybe the browns blow out the Patriots. I think what it's going to happen is going to be a really close fun game that is unpredictable. And that's exactly the kind of game I want to watch. I hate when I know going into a game one team is going to dominate the other. And I have no idea what's going to happen with patriots and browns. Number 6, the eagles at the Denver Broncos, Denver got my attention last week. Remember, they led Dallas 30 to nothing with 6 minutes left in that football game..

"Clean. Yeah. And so if you're dealing with miles Garrett, he's going through a setup and this can span drives, right? This can span multiple drives. So he's getting Isaiah wins set up. And he's getting him set up. He's getting him set up. And then he's getting ready to go for the finisher. And okay, now here's Trent Brown. So now you've got to go back right now. You've got to go back to square one and start to set up again. So again, we're getting way out of the box here. This is great. Very hypothetical, but honestly, the best segments on the show are when we talk big picture hypothetical football. So maybe maybe we see it. I don't know. I would love to see something different. That's all I'm saying whether it's switching those guys out and we're talking a lot about trend Brown. I don't know if Jeff Brown is going to be activated for this game on Sunday, but the fact that he was out there for the padded session on Wednesday. And there is some optimism, right? There's some growing optimism that he's gonna be bad. At some point, whether it's this week next week, we don't really know. But clearly, he's out there for a reason. And clearly, they feel like he's going to be able to come back. But I wanted to hit on with Trent Brown and I want to move on to the running backs as well. Wit Trent Brown I'm kind of torn on this about basically it's a conversation of do you go with the hot hands? Do you go with what's working, or do you go for the higher ceiling offensive line? Clearly, the highest ceiling that the Patriots have on the offensive line is to go back to the line that they planned on having going into the season with Trent Brown at right tackle and on Wendy wagga guard and the other three guys and their same spots. But this line with Keras in the starting lineup and on wendo back to right tackle has really spearheaded a much better offensive performance from the line for the last month or so, right? Really, since Isaiah win and on when you got over the COVID thing, the last three games, the line play has been significantly better in both phases as in past protection and in run blocking. So it's a little bit like a hockey team, right? Where the backup goalie gets hot, right? The starting goal is if there's no winner. But the backup goalie gets hot. Do you go back to the starter? Or do you keep the backup in there to keep it rolling? It's a tough decision because I think this is ultimately this is a huge decision for this team of whether or not to shake it up again, right? Because you finally found a combination of 5 that is working that's now had about a month of practice together is building some continuity together and some chemistry together. And now we're going to shake the whole thing up again. Well, I mean, if they're going to use 6 lime in this week and the buys and we need to answer that question, right? I mean, I think it just the potential upside with Trent Brown. I think you have to try it. Remember the first drive of the season. If you go for like 34 yards off right tackle and it was just everybody knew it was coming and they still did it. I think the upside of the running game with brown healthy is worth giving it a shot. Now it's a balance of, okay, how long are you gonna try this versus how short of a leash are you gonna give it? And that's, you know, we go back and forth. It's not even a conversation. It's just like a hypothetical question, but I do think it's worth at least giving it a shot..

"You know, check and release is a should be a big part of the game plan this week for the Patriots. Whether it's with tight ends or with running backs. I think that that sort of play is like you said. I mean, it's beat the browns this year, it's something I'd like to see them run a couple times. We saw a good one last week, right? Against the Panthers, it was Brandon Bolden, who that one Mac just floated in over the defensive end. Got it to him. And they picked up a good gain on it. I think checker release should be a part of it. What did you think mister offensive line of my change of pace tackle idea? I just thought of that sitting down right now. I kind of know where I was going with it, but if we're going outside of the box, change of pace tackle. So I remember in 2018 or maybe it was this year. I think it was 2018. Trend brand was talking about how he wanted to flip sides. Oh, that was 2018. I do remember that. Yes. That's what it kind of made me think of. So Trent Brown was saying, and miles Garrett's not typically one of those guys that flip sides, but a lot of these great pass rushers will flip sides. If they like the matchup on the right side, then they'll line up one week. Both the two weeks ago. Yeah, next week, the lineup over the left tackle. And Trent Brown like a cornerback shadowing a wide receiver essentially, wanted to travel with the best on the other team. And I thought, why don't teams do that more often, especially for a guy like Trent Brown that can flip so seamlessly because he has his entire career flip back and forth from left to right tackle. Some guys, as we found out with even a guy like a reserve player, like, Dustin her on. He's a left tackle, right? He's much more comfortable on the left side. Some guys are like that. This guy's a left tackle. He's not a right tackle. But with guys like Trent Brown who are unique that can switch side to side, week to week or game to game or even play to play. I love that idea. And maybe you're onto something, right? Isaiah win is more of the positional. Let's call him finesse blocker to a degree. Turn brown is more of the road greater, the big guy. If he's ready to go, I mean, maybe, yeah, or maybe it's just to keep him fresh, right? It's kind of just a way to make sure that the guy that's going up against miles Garrett is always fresh. Maybe that's another way to do it as well. Well, I mean, great pass rushers like miles Garrett day of moves with like, for people who don't know how we're for the most part with pass rushers. You're trying to get after the quarterback every play, but there's also sequencing to it, right? You're not bringing out your a move on every play, because the other guy's gonna size it up. You know, you go a little harder on someplace than others just it's a game. It's a chess match, right? So really good pass rushers they have set ups and they can be four, 5, 6 place setups where, you know, it's move a then move B, then back to a then C, and it's all leading up to, you know, they know if they hit certain moves in a certain order, the final move is one that they know they can get to the quarterback on..

"Bentley is has to take a running back or a tight end one on one somewhere, that can be problematic for the Patriots. Now that Chubb is in playing, I think the Patriots can play at a more nickel, and now you get your matchups back, right? Again, some of those extra people. But this is a fun game because this is your type of game Alex. This is a old school. I'm excited. I'm excited. Even without Nick Chubb, they're still going to be a lot of running the football. There's going to be a lot of three tight end to tight end packages on both sides of the ball. This is old school. All the analytics nerds talk about all this passing game stuff, the browns have built themselves in the trenches. They have invested in the offensive line and they've invested in the defensive line. Basically more than they've invested anywhere else. Yeah. It's going to be smash male football. I was walking out to practice today in the winds Allen and starting to rain and I'm like, if only we had this on Sunday. This is such football weather today. But it's going to be a really fun game, but then you add in that element of either team, both teams might be without their power backs that really make these things go. And now it's like, okay, now you really have to get creative. Now you're really have to think outside the box and it's a test of a good coach in Bill Belichick and we'll see. I've made my point on Kevin Stefanski before I put him in that Kyle Shanahan Matt Lafleur group. Oh no, all the wanna be Sean mcvay's out there. But he's gonna need this game's gonna be a lot about coaching too. So we'll see what's Stefanski does if he can rise the occasion. He's had his rough moments. He certainly had his rough moment so. What I like about Stefanski and I think it's passing game is not as impressive watching it on tape as what you would see at a maybe Shanahan or McVeigh. But his run game is more impressive in a lot of ways. Maybe more kind of more up to par with Shanahan. The one thing I always had a problem with mcvay is kind of one dimensional on the run game, right? They're very heavy outside zone and that's just kind of what they do. Now, Stefanski, he mixes it up. They have a really good scheme run game, where they can pull guards on you. They can run zone. They can run mid zone or outside zone. They can run all sorts of different types of things. They can put tight ends in the backfield, their full backs in the backfield and play lead or outside zone lead, then they can pull teller or plutonium and those two guys are two of the best power pulling guards in the NFL. So when I look at the matchups in the trenches, there's going to be a lot of Devon Dodge on Lawrence guy having to hold up against double teams on the line of scrimmage..

"The field together with the four true linebackers and loading up to stop chum. Now I think this becomes a lot more about nickel package and a lot more about stopping the play action passing and stopping the passing game with Baker Mayfield than it does against Ernest Johnson. If Darren is Johnson beats you, like he did against Denver a few weeks ago and you have 7 guys in the box and dear as Johnson runs for a 150 yards against you and you probably weren't meant to win that game that day. Yeah, yeah, I'd agree with that. I think not just stopping the pass but getting after Baker Mayfield. I think that's the best just to kind of use that as a jumping off point. I think that's the best thing the patrons can do in this game. Obviously you gotta cover, I'm really interested to see what they do about Travis Landry. Is that going to be miles Bryant, right? But Baker Mayfield is he doesn't have a short memory. I call him a snowball quarterback. And what I mean by that is whatever happens early in the game, it's going to snowball. And that can go both ways. If you let him come out and have a good first drive, I mean, he's going to start to feel it and he's going to make tough life tough on you. But if Matt judean introduces himself to Baker Mayfield early in this game. And baker's getting knocked around. And, you know, he's not getting the time he wants. That compounds in his mind. You can see him get very frustrated easily. If he throws an early pick, it's going to stick with him. So I think the earlier they get on baker, the better and it's that much easier to get after bake or when you don't have to worry as much about the run. Yeah, yeah, I think that's exactly it. And you look at the way that they sequence together their play action passes with their runs on first and second down, this is one of those games for the Patriots that is going to be one or lost on first down..

"Want to get to some of the Odell stuff here in a second Alex and just put a bow on the Odell Beckham junior sweepstakes, pursuit, whatever you want to call it, but some news just coming down right now from ESPN's field Yates is that brown's top running back. Nick Chubb will not play in the game on Sunday, so no Nick Chubb for the browns. I do think this considerably changes the equation for the Patriots defense and how you game plan and scheme up against this brown's offense. Well, it certainly helps, right? You know, you don't have to face running back. And we also know Kareem hunt's not playing, demetrick Felton, who we both really liked during the draft isn't playing. So yeah, yeah, they're in good shape. You know, it's interesting, because I'm sure we'll talk about the Patriots running backs too and Stevenson. Stevenson and Harris both missing practice today. So we've all been talking about all week and we, I mean, me you, Matt, doll if we work with everybody who's covering this game. Yeah. We've been talking about winning upfront, running the football in the trenches all that both teams might have to throw the ball on Sunday and that could be really interesting because I don't think that's what anybody expected. I think it could be fun. But certainly this game kind of taking a hard left turn here in a few days leading up. I actually think that heavily favors the Patriots. Thank you. A passing game. And mainly because I'm confident in the Patriots past defense right now and the way that they've been playing without Odell in Cleveland, we're going to talk about Odell not coming here to New England, but with that Odell in Cleveland, Donovan peoples Jones, Jarvis Landry, they're tight ends. That's what they're working with, really, right now with the browns. And you start to look at some of these pieces. People's Jones is played well over the last couple of weeks about the last month or so. He's been a dynamic downfield threat, but mostly off of play action. And skiing up those deep shots off of PA and you look at deer and as Johnson, he started a couple of weeks ago on that Thursday night game against a Denver Broncos an averaged over 6.6.

"I'm not talking about Baker Mayfield now. And that's part of the context in all this and why? Mac Jones going to New England was a great situation for him because you know, you know, at least for the start of his career, he's going to get consistent coaching and playbook. Remember, and this goes to my discussion about every single young quarterback. I mean, look at Marcus Mariota and Tennessee when he basically had four offensive coordinators in four years. Baker Mayfield comes in a league, Hugh Jackson's the head coach of the browns. And his offense, we know how that went. Fired that year, his work here, you know, I think that was his rookie year, 2018. Yeah, that was his rookie year. Hugh Jackson gets fired. That was a complete disaster. He came in. Good old Freddy kitchens. Get out pitch, get him kicked. Ready kittens was his second year. And then they bring in Stefanski, where you finally? So that's basically three different playbooks in his first three years of his career to me. You have to, with any young quarterback, and I would say this the same way about, you know, Mac Jones, if the Patriots were some sort of epic disaster. Young quarterbacks have no chance when their playbook changes every year, because everybody has to relearn it, the quarterbacks have to relearn it, like all that stuff. Let alone put in Odell Beckham junior and all the other headaches that go on in Cleveland. Like you can not look at Baker Mayfield and this is you Nick. This is two, you know, the mouth breathers on Twitter. You can not look at Baker Mayfield now and compare in a Mac Jones. It's unfair. We're talking about if Baker Mayfield had the same opportunity as Mac Jones. Yeah. Coming into the Patriots, great system. You know there's gonna be no drama. He's gonna get coached hard, the fundamentals are gonna be good. The coaching is gonna be the same all four years. The playbook is gonna be the same all four years..

"If he gets this decision wrong for any reason, he's going to have a really tough time finding a contract in the off season that will be multiple years. I don't have an issue with it. The second thing I want to hang on, let me just let me just say something to that. And I respect your opinion on that. And I understand you and I are in the same boat that like, you know, when we have decisions to make about our futures, we take a lot of time. I mean, I remember when I decided on Sports Illustrated, which was not a good decision. I took a lot of time and a lot of different meetings. However, you know, you and I are trying to figure out the futures for ourselves, our wives, our kids, you know, it's not like we're making bank, all right? Odell Mac junior's already made his money. He's made enough money for future generations of Beckham's. It's not about that. It's a completely different type of decision. And it shouldn't take very long basically the way these decisions work like it's similar to free agency. You know, what happens is the clock strikes midnight. You get the offers. Your agent who you pay goes through it and, you know, I'm sure you're similar with radio because some of you guys have agents. They present the offers. They say what the pluses and minuses are. They say they give their recommendation, and then, you know, you think about it for all right, maybe a night sleep on it, the next day, something like that. To me, this is not that. To me, this is this is we didn't get a good offer. So now I'm going to drag it out two days. Look, I can understand he wanted to take into, let's see. He cleared waivers on Tuesday, Tuesday night he had his offers. It's now Thursday. And he hasn't made a decision. It's not the same as me and you making a lifetime decision. He it's for the rest of the season probably. Yes, it could set him up. It could hurt him, but really, it's not gonna amount to all that much as far as his future, his bank account, all that stuff. To me, this is more self created drama and if I'm the Patriots and I think you're going easy on them because you really want them on the Patriots. But if I'm the Patriots, I'm being like, no, it's got nothing to do with that. I'm going to stop you there because that's kind of a smack to me. Not because I want them on. It's because again, I've been through, I've been through different things, negotiation wise with a lot of different companies and stuff like that. But you're not a multimillionaire. I understand, Greg, but what I'm saying is this everybody looks at negotiations differently..

"There was like a couple years where I burned out on football. Sure. It must have been because this was a huge deal. So they're up 16 nothing they're in the against the legion of boom, like the best defense of the decade, there's 7 point under dogs on the road, no one thought they were gonna win. They're up 16 nothing. In the fourth quarter, Rogers also had kind of a bum ankle he couldn't really scramble too much. And they basically within the last 5 minutes of the game, my dad and I were booking our flights to go to the Super Bowl. Like this game was over. Man, defense was crushing Russ all day, and then within 5 minutes they go three and out on two drives where Mike McCarthy ran the ball 6 times. And then Russ leads to touchdown drives. The first and they needed to get the two point conversion. So they run the ball three times, Seahawks get the ball. Then they go for two, Russ scrambles throws all the way across the field. Ha ha Kalinda stares at a two point conversion that goes right in front of his face. So it's 16, it's 16 to 8 with like two minutes left. On side kick, the Seahawks recover it because bran and bostick like didn't do his job. He's like the villain in Green Bay is banned in Boston because he is supposed to block, but he goes up for the ball instead and Jordy Nelson's behind. I'm like, oh no, like waiting for the ball, so missed like assignment on an inside kick. Seahawks get the ball, two plays later, throws a touchdown, gets the two point conversion, and then Rogers, I'm missing something in there because the packers were down by three actually after that. And Rogers gets the ball like 40 seconds actually leads a drive to go get a field goal in that moment. To send in an overtime, they lose the coin toss and Rodgers never sees the football. It was an unbelievable collapse. So they could have very well one Super Bowl that year if that all doesn't shake down. What year was that? That was 2015. And that's when the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, right? Patriots. At the goal line, interception, like the Marshawn Lynch, was that did that Super Bowl and was that February 2016?.

I mean, if they <Speech_Male> did, it would be <Speech_Male> historical. <Speech_Male> No rookie quarterback <Speech_Male> has ever <Speech_Male> led a team <Speech_Male> to a Super Bowl <Speech_Male> to even go to <Speech_Male> a Super Bowl forget <Speech_Male> winning one. So, <Speech_Male> you know <Speech_Male> if this <Speech_Male> was next season <Speech_Male> and they were a player <Speech_Male> away? Absolutely. <Speech_Male> I could see it. <Speech_Male> I just don't see the <Speech_Telephony_Male> benefit of it now where <Speech_Male> you're really <Speech_Male> looking to <Speech_Male> build your <Speech_Male> program back up <Speech_Male> behind a rookie <Speech_Male> quarterback. And I think <Speech_Male> bringing <Speech_Male> in a guy like OBJ, <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> not that Mac Jones <Speech_Male> can't handle them, 'cause <Speech_Male> I do think he can. <Speech_Male> I just <Speech_Male> don't see the point. I <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> just <Silence> do not see the point at the <Speech_Male> end of the day. <Speech_Male> Yeah, and <Silence> look, I mean, <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> OBJ <Speech_Male> has said he has <Speech_Male> great respect for Brady <Speech_Male> and he said he had great <Silence> respect for Belichick. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> But <Speech_Male> you come into a situation <Speech_Male> where you're still <Silence> trying to get yours, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> the team <Speech_Male> is sort of established a <Speech_Male> bit of a pecking order <Speech_Male> with how <Speech_Male> they do things offensively. <Speech_Male> The receivers, <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> just don't know if it makes <Speech_Male> a lot of sense to upset the <Speech_Music_Male> apple card for that. <Speech_Male> And let's be real. <Speech_Male> I don't know what kind of <Speech_Male> player is anymore <Speech_Male> because he's not out <Speech_Male> there very often. So <Speech_Male> if you <Speech_Male> want to tell me he could have <Silence> a Randy Moss like <Speech_Male> revival, <Speech_Male> I <Speech_Male> guess, part of <Speech_Male> me could believe that, but <Speech_Male> if you want to tell me that <Speech_Music_Male> he's pretty much cooked <Speech_Music_Male> and he's more like the Randy <Speech_Male> Moss that ended up in Minnesota <Silence> at the <Speech_Male> very end, <Speech_Male> that's more of <Speech_Male> where I would lean to because <Speech_Male> he hasn't shown me <Speech_Male> enough to believe <SpeakerChange> that he's <Silence> guy. <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> <Speech_Male> Well, <Speech_Male> we got <Speech_Male> patriots <Speech_Male> at Panthers this <Speech_Male> weekend. "A BS J I have the Patriots to win this game, but I don't have them covering the spread. I went patriots 2017, I think it's going to be a really tight game. And like I said, it's going to come down to turnovers in this game. I think the Patriots are getting a little bit more consistent on both sides of the ball. The Panthers aren't quite there yet. I don't think they're far away. But if McCaffrey plays certainly that changes a lot of things because the Patriots have never been great with running backs out of the backfield and that should be an interesting matchup. How do you see this matchup going like? Yeah, I mean McCaffrey is the massive X Factor in all this, right? Because if he's back and he's close to what he was prior to the injury, then you have something that you really haven't faced all year long. I mean, he's explosive in both the run and the pass game. You get them in space. I think Belichick said it, this more off Friday morning was like basically like he gets in space forget it. I mean, he's going to pick up a huge chunk of yardage. They don't have anybody. You know, from a linebacker level, even if you want to talk and include Phillips and duggar in that in that sort of category, they can run with him. So he is, he's the massive X Factor in this game, because I think hover has been fine for them. And a little bit better as he's gone along here, but there's no comparison between those two guys. You know, there's no comparison with McCaffrey and pretty much most any other running back in the league. So that's one that will certainly have to watch tomorrow if we earn any news or obviously Sunday if it comes down to the game time decision. You think the Patriots escape with a victory? I like the way they've been playing. You know, I think. To me, Greg, to me, if they lose this game, then we're back almost where we started. You know? You're finally building some momentum, which they talked about. We're not a two one four team or not a three and 14. Nope, you've won two games in a row. You smash the jets. You went on the road and I think what we thought was a, I don't know if we could have a good team, but we think there are decent team in the Chargers. So now you have to keep that going. You can't go down to Carolina for a team that's starting either Sam darnold or PJ walker and lose the football game. You can't, because then I think you just sort of undone the sort of the positive vibes and momentum that you've created. And you know, that path that we're going to be talking about on sports that you'll have to talk about every Tuesday on sports. For anyone feller and mask that pack gets a little bit more convoluted if they drop a game of the Panthers. Yeah, absolutely. The PJ walker thinks a good point. I mean, if they lose, and it's Mack Jones versus PJ walker and they lose. That's a tough look. Boss is forced journal dot com member question of the day. "I'm not sure I'm ready to crown them as the number one cornerback in the league again after 17 snaps. Yeah, I think that's a good point and by Kyle, you mean Kyle pets The Rookie tight end for the falcons. And I thought, you know, that interception that he had, when I first saw it on Sunday, you know, in the TV clips, because of course all patriots Twitter was talking about Gilmore, picking off the pass. And I think that was right before the Patriots played the Chargers in the afternoon game. And when I first saw it, I was like, oh, that's, you know, Matt was under pressure off his back foot or whatever, but when I saw it on the all 22, I was like, you know, that stuff being stuff. He realized what the route was, broke on it went underneath, like, that's classic stuff right there. Yeah, again, and I don't know if it's because of just his personality and persona and the soft voice that never changes. Like I said, know, he's irritated with the Patriots or he's saying he's irritated with the Patriots and it sounds the same as it when he's praising Belichick or praising his teammates. The voice never changes the tone never changes. So I don't know if maybe because he's quiet that people didn't necessarily get a good glimpse into the football IQ and the intelligence that he has, but you talk to the players. I mean, you've talked to him. Helping helping Mac Jones and summer helping receivers things that he points out when he's watching during a game or even a practice saying like, hey, that release work for you. Don't be afraid to go back to it. Hey, you know, he's playing you this way. You might have to do this. He's seen a lot. He studies a lot. I give him a ton of credit for still being buried in the film, all these years and just, you know, he trusts that film study and to your point, I mean, it paid off beautifully on that play. And it's, again, it was sort of like a low energy play. He didn't have to overextend himself because he didn't get caught chasing. He just, he knew what was going to happen and he read it perfectly and made the play. If you're the Patriots this week, how cognizant would you be about where stuff on Gilmore is and what he's doing? Are you, are you worried about him this week? Do you stay away from him? Do you go after him? Well, see, here's the thing with the way their roster is.

"Everybody welcome into the great vidar patriot podcast. We are pleased and honored to welcome in our good friend Mike giardi from NFL network. We will not hold it against him that he's from millis. Considering nothing good ever comes from millis, and there's a big, that's why I had to wear my midway Mustang stuff today because, you know, a huge Thanksgiving Day rivalry between millis and midway and so Mike, thanks for coming. I appreciate it. Even though you're a medway guy, I relented. I'm sure I'm sure Mike leach somewhere is creating his teeth over this. No doubt. But yeah, so let's just dive into stuff on Gilmore. I know you've done a lot of reporting on that this week. For NFL network. And also before he went to Carolina and it was with the Patriots. One thing I was curious about in your reporting that I didn't quite understand and maybe you could just give us the Gilmore perspective. You made reference to him not being thrilled that the Patriots put him on pup. I'm not sure if that means initially or that he was on for all of training camp. Just, you know, can you explain that a little flesh it out a little bit more? Sure, my understanding Greg is that he didn't like being kept on the pulp to start the season that he felt like there was a window there where he would be ready to go back and be able to play and contribute now soon that was. If you listen to Steph the other day, when we talk to him, or if you listen to him at the podium and Carolina, there's a little bit of a contradiction there with him. You know, it sort of goes back to what I reported on back in the spring where he was like, I'm ready to go. I can do this. He told Joe saint Anderson the same thing. And then he said the other day while he wouldn't have been totally ready to go at the start of training camp. But yeah, to my understanding of it was just he felt like he would be ready to play somewhere in that window of the 6 weeks that he was forced to sit after training camp. Yeah, I mean, I understand that a little bit better now because, you know, if he was say ready, let's say he was ready within the first couple weeks of the season to be full go, that means he's out there sooner showing that he's worth more money..

"I think we're trying to figure out a trade for the last couple weeks. The dolphins were heavily pursuing deshaun Watson. And I don't know. I want to watch to the dolphins young quarterback. He's the second year quarterback. There's been news for weeks and weeks and weeks that Miami has been trying to replace him with Desean Watson. That didn't work. And so now that he's free to just, okay, I'm not getting replaced. I'm at least here for the rest of this year. Does he play more free? Does he play better? I don't know. I hate the play calling, hate the play design in Miami with their offense, but I'm really still interested to see how does two will play. Against Houston this weekend. Game number three, the falcons at the New Orleans Saints, the reason to watch this game and keep your eye on this game. Is that the New Orleans Saints lost their starting quarterback, Jameis Winston last weekend. He tore his ACL. And so this weekend just the quarterback, the quarterback room and situation in general, it's kind of up in the air with New Orleans and do they play Trevor Simeon? Do they play Taysom Hill? Whatever quarterback they play, do? And what happens there? Keep your eye on the quarterback situation between the falcons and the saints, what happens with New Orleans and their quarterback? Number four, the Raiders at the Giants, the Raiders have been through a lot. And they lost their head coach. They had a star receiver, Henry ruggs, get in a car accident, and get a DUI and kill someone and then acts as a fatal car accident. So he's in jail. And how do you respond to that? What happens here? I would imagine that this is too much to overcome. I can't imagine a world where the Raiders don't fold, just because the emotional losing your head coach and losing a player that way, I think the emotion is going to be too hard. I don't expect the Raiders are 5 and two right now. They're at near the top of the AFC standings. I don't think that's going to stand, but we'll learn a lot with how they respond this weekend on the road against New York. Number 5, you're the Patriots at the Panthers. First of all, in the Patriots, they're four and four now, can they make a playoff push? They are trying to make the wild card basically the bills that you've already had. But if the Patriots who are four and four can go on a run here, they have a real legitimate shot to make it into the AFC wildcard final 7th spot there. And then it's also stiff on Gilmore, a stud corner for the Panthers, playing against his old team. He was once a defense player of the year, literally, I think 2019 is when he won it. So two years ago now, two years ago, this guy was defensive player of the year this year, the Patriots traded him away for almost nothing to Carolina. And so it's Stefan Gilmore playing against his former team. I would think wanting revenge on them not handling his injury, the way he wanted and not wanting to keep him just getting rid of him. I would be like, hey, I won't revenge against my old team. Also, with Sam darnold, the Panthers young quarterback against Bill Belichick. Sam darnold played for the jets for a couple of years since 2018..

"What's going on here? And his dad released a video. Oh, do I can junior his dad? So odo can senior ob S Odell Beckham senior. It's hard to the junior part is so ingrained in his name. I can't remove it. It's really hard to say that. His general is a video, basically, highlighting all the times that OBJ didn't get the ball and calling out the browns quarterback. And it's kind of weird because a lot of the stuff is like, well, that's just a regular. He's not really open. I don't know. I just felt like a little bit of framing things to make him look bad and then some of it was he legitimately was open and baker didn't see him and I don't know what that is. And some people say it's nefarious. I can't I don't understand. A lot of people some people believe that baker truly doesn't want to throw the ball to odo back in junior. And I just doesn't make any sense to me, even if baker hates OBJ. It's still the right thing for him to throw the ball to OBJ because guess what, if baker wants to do well and get a new contract, he throws the ball to the open receiver regardless of whether he likes them or not. I think he does that go to my computer. But let's say he hates him. It would be unbelievably stupid if baker truly did see Odell Beckham junior open and not throwing the ball. Because he wants to make money. He wants a new contract. So I don't believe at all that Baker Mayfield hates oda by junior and isn't trying to get in the ball. What I think is really weird though is that it seems like the browns just did not build their offense and scheme around Odell Beckham junior. They didn't find a way to get in the ball. And they threw the ball to him a couple times in key moments he often did not deliver and wouldn't catch the ball and so I think that further broke some of the trust, but man, I expected Cleveland to feature Odell a lot more and build design plays to take advantage of his skill set. They haven't done that for whether that's right or wrong..

"Question. How did he do? Okay. So here's the thing about Joe Brown. This is why I think you like him so much. Oh, it's a really great quarterback that just plays hockey team. So he's like your deck Prescott your a bitch. I thought you were like the light bulb in my head went off last night when I was watching it. I was like, well, he's a good little quarterback like Dak Prescott. He just plays for no wonder Jasmine likes them so much. By the way, I have you know you Optimus Prime Don the word shity so it cut out on you said shity team. That's all right. I show you going to say that we were going to like look we could be an item now. I'm just disappointed. Oh, I'm sorry. Now he's to you guys wouldn't match very well. He's back to blonde hair doughy eyed, you know, he still has his dreams and happiness. I was just that his way too innocent for you. You know, you just strip him of all of it off. I would fare. I tend to do this with all men though. Let's be real I tend to slowly take away their hopes dreams, you know their desk for Life their happiness any kind of happiness life. It's it's what I do to all the men that are in my life. Okay, so so that's your analysis which fuck off so that's no that's my analysis regards to jobber. Okay, my analysis in regards to the Browns. All right. Here's the thing about the Browns obj less. Always he had headlines Amy. Okay. This team has a boss ass offense page. There is no reason why they shouldn't be scoring touchdowns all the fucking time. I mean think about the players that they have Nick Chubb Fremont who both went off last night Jarvis Landry. I mean you couldn't get you can get that is a fantasy leagues dream right here, right? Yep. There is no reason why this team shouldn't be amazing because you know what their defense is really cool. Good to this team should be really competitive and making the playoffs and they're not understand now Grandma, who knows what's going to happen tell you what happened last night watching this game Baker Mayfield just he changed into a different person. Like when he like a human in a good way in a good way when he came off the field. He didn't go and sit down on the bench. He stood on the sidelines and watched his defense playing and then he I mean he rallied those guys. He was not going down to Joe burrow. I mean, you could totally he's like, there's no fucking way. This guy's going to show me up and there's no way I'm losing to the fucking bangles and you know what he totally carried his team. He really truly did stepped up it was offensive. Now if they can do that every single weekend this team is really like it has all the weapons that it takes to be a fantastic team which made me. Made me Ponder the fact that there's some teams that you just expect to lose and then there's some teams that you expect to win like the team's you expect to when you expect the steel real attacks right now. You expect the Cal you expect to win. You don't expect the Lions or the Bangles or the Browns. I mean the low-hanging fruit, you know, you don't expect those teams to win. So when they have when they have rosters long, the Browns have their own turning into a team that you they should be winning with what they have. So it sounds to me that the Browns are basically like if you're looking at it from a fantasy league point, it's the guy in league who basically cheese his way to get the best team because everybody else is internet either sucked or they were on auto draft or they forgot there was a draft right? That's the guy in the if you're equating it to a fantasy team roster birth. Okay. Number one. I liked it. You know I prematurely said shut up about the Cowboys cuz I thought you were going to say that you expect them to lose and I like that you're saying that you expect them to win because that's what you do you absolutely suck. Oh you that's what we do problem. That's where we are a we are an elite Lord team. Anyway, that's what you're going with I am. Well, I don't know the baker Mayfield is still a shitstain to me so good for him rallying his team. He's still a shitstain. I do love his Progressive commercials their home like the latest one. Yes. They are the latest one where he's like. Oh, it's getting ready to rain. Help me cover the furniture. And two guys like you mean the stance he's really good in those commercials. If you could only be as good a quarter as he is in those commercials. We would be set the dog pound would be set. Well, we are you a dog pound or now. I mean, I you know, I have a soft spot for the Browns just cuz they always lose. And ever since that movie came out draft day with Kevin Costner yet. Oh, I'm out. I'm done with you. done with you Amy. Your brown spot is showing. I know I know you know, I just I'm weird that way I don't understand it. Either it is I don't either try to figure you out every day and I just you know, I do too and since I'm like, oh I get myself today and then sometimes I'm like now he's nope don't understand myself today, but that's okay. That's most of us as well. Amy. So rest assured you're not in Company by yourself. I think it is twenty-twenty it is. Okay. Well that's sad because now Joe burrow Hollow be his name Falls 200 and two. Yeah, it does and but you know what this guy he's he's a good quarterback. He is is there he should be in his helmet I think time to get mr. Guys. Sometimes he tries to carry his offense which isn't great because then he gets pummeled by pencil like he got pummeled last night several times. Well, you sure. Why does LSU brain sure what he's trying to win? And I totally get it. But at the same time he needs careful because you know, oh, he's a starting quarterback in the NFL. Well getting them know and you just see a lot of what he was doing at LSU that worked and I think you know like every rookie has this learning curve right where you come out transition from college to the big leagues and it's like, oh, okay, it's funny cuz I was like really different style of football right? I said to Bruce last night. I'm like, surprised that they just threw this guy in the deep end. I mean they just started. Oh totally, I mean, they didn't granted he dangles. What else do they have? I'm. That's the problem. They don't have anything else but you know like places in my where to get backing up Fitzpatrick that makes sense. It makes sense for him to kind of, you know way into the NFL same thing with Dwayne Haskins, you know, he he was back up for a while until he kind of learned his name. Yeah, now Joe girl, man. They just threw him in the deep and they're like here you go, bro, you go bu. Yeah. Well, you know what gotta he is trying I mean, he's playing his ass off out there. No he is but he is and that's why I'm like super team Joe burrow like we gotta do this man. Like I'm telling you. It's the stogie. We'll do it get this guy that mean that you're a Bengals fan know how fucking no. No, I like. Oh bji in a Browns fan. I like Joe burrow Ina Bengals fan, you know, I will always bleed silver and blue Amy. That's the only color I would leave home. Anyway, let's move on to the Chiefs. Okay, love us and Pat Mahomes you love some Andy Reid do that cheaper mofo back, right? So Andy Reid's big old windshield mask that he had on. When was it last week? I can't remember. Yeah. We're only in week to segregated windshield wipers. Yeah, so people were like what the hell and so like it was fogging up. You couldn't see shit, but this may be a thing. This may be a thing coming to a coach near you because off on the first Sunday of the NFL season when this happened several coaches were seen either one not wearing masks or to not wearing them properly because the mask police were out and the league is not going to stand for that. It's currently vice president of football operations. Troy Vincent issued a memo this week saying protocol requires all individuals with bench area access including coaches and members of the club medical staff to wear face coverings at all times failure to adhere this requirement will result in accountability measures being imposed against offending individuals and or clubs. However, Amy, there is no word on what those accountability measures will be so that to me that phrase is what kind of sticks out to me. What does that mean? do you do find them? Probably I mean you can look dead. Here's the thing. They're coaching on the sidelines of talking into Mike's they have to be able bird they have to be able understood. It's really hard for all of the to happen on your face plus all these guys are around each other all the time. They're all you know, I practiced together around the field. They're hitting each other all in each other's faces, you know, I mean and how many people have tested positive since the start of season one? Yeah. They did a very good 2700 players so very good job with with that right off because like you said, they've been implementing measures. They've been following the rules, you know, they've been testing a lot, you know, we got into this, you know leading into this actual season. Jeez, how many coronavirus updates that we talked about on this podcast about hey, this is what the League's doing. This is what they're making them do kind of thing. So something is clearly working. It's really great to see that that's positive news that you know that they're only seeing that wage. Chat, I think I that they should I really think they should go with a handy read mask to be quite honest can still see the coaches face. The microphone can kind of be up underneath it. So they may be able to understand what the coaches saying and and you're shielded. You know, when somebody comes up to your face, you know, I mean, think that that's fine but having to wear them like when it's just, you know covering your face in your nose again, like it's hard for me to understand people when they're wearing a mask and talking to me. Yes, I mean, so imagine imagine being on the field the quarterback coaches saying the guys in booth coordinators up in the booth are trying to understand what the guys on the field coordinators on the field are trying to say, I mean, it's just it's a it's crazy. So it's a shitshow you gotta be able to walk. You gotta be able to your job. I would take that looking like I've got the windshield of a Camry in front of my face the whole time vs Lee having something on my mouth cuz that's frustrating me. Yeah. Give me the telephone number. Windshield all day long over the you know, suffocating face masks which by the way speaking of Tesla. Did you see that their reports of some them being janky like getting like parts that were like really cheap shity on some of the Tesla's that were falling apart marvelous. I know so yet twenty-twenty doesn't happen. Just wanted to put that in there for you. All right coming up next in offsides, you know fall like we said is upon us. Although you wouldn't know here in Texas. It's still like an anus outside but here's something for your home that will make it fall feel less anus e okay Mom handles some new ones that are coming out and they're actually already out and we'll explain to you with those candles our next. All right, let's get into offsides and we've got some candles to tell you about so Amy, yeah, you know football's back. So if you want to get a little piece so that game day experience at home along with fall. This might work. Okay. I know you love candles. There's a company that's owned by Anheuser-Busch call Babe wine. They just created three football scented candles one smells like an artificial turf field. Okay one smells like a Nachos not bad and one

Not for the gamut of things he could be arrested for heels arrested for taking someone's phone smashing on the ground and stopping on it the phone, obviously like every phone out. Jaguars release Blake Bortles costing $16.5 million in dead cap space
"Blake Bortles was released by the Jaguars released. Not traded just dropped over sixteen million dead money counted against his team, and they still drop them. Now. Let's go back five years to the two thousand fourteen draft. Where was Bortles picked first round number three at the time. What did they say fantastic size NFL body type franchise caliber quarterback Mel kiper gave the Jaguars overall a for their draft that year and a Bleacher report was more cautious. They wrote Bortles is not nearly as ready to step in and play from day one as teddy Bridgewater is and he may not have the. Upside that Johnny Manziel does a him. Both Bridgewater and Manziel are currently looking for jobs Bridgewater, perhaps his third team Menzel just to job period. And now, so as Bortles all this proves is that there was no such thing as a guarantee in drafting a player and all the pre-draft type is just a lot of hot air designed to keep TV show sports, talk radio and scouting websites in clover year, round Bortles is exhibit a improving you don't know an NFL quarterback until he becomes an NFL quarterback five years ago is team used a top three pick five years later. Browns win NFL free agency, while Giants, Bell flop
"The New York Giants got a first round pick. That's a starter from Cleveland. They got Gebreel pepper safety. That's a starter and a third round pick, which usually means develops into a starter and this morning. Everybody's killing the New York Giants. They've got they got three players for one player in by the way. Oh, Dell's terrific, but he's missed twenty one games due to injuries. Okay. So you may we do this a lot. We fall in love with stars. I get it you buy their jerseys owed Elza remarkable once in a lifetime talent. Okay. I I am not denying that. But the New York Giants moved him because they didn't think he was good for chemistry. They got a first round pick that now gives them two first round picks. That's two starters. They got Gebriel peppers that a starter. And they got a third round pick. And that should be developing starter. They're rebuilding the giants rebuilding. Now. Again, if they had the right quarterback. I'd like this way more. The giants issue to me is not this trade. The giants issue is they can't come to terms with a very uncomfortable truth there, wildly popular two time winning football quarterbacks shot fighter. I don't get. What the giants did yesterday? Didn't wear me out. What they did last year with the number two pick wears me out. If they had darnold today in all their problems would be fixed.

Giants hold 12 picks in 2019 NFL Draft, including two in first round
"But as for the giants they now have the number five pick and the number seventeen pick in and another third round pick. So yes, they have two first round picks. Just like the raiders do. Well, the raiders have three first round picks this year. But those in the high twenty so already the giants have to hire picks than the raiders did when they traded away, Amari Cooper and Khalil Mack. So there is some positive. They have to picks in this draft. And this is a highly touted drought class defensively. So they can get their defense a bit. And as well draft a quarterback into an Haskins who seems like he's gonna ghost the second quarterback selected. It seems to me that collar Marie still going to be the first overall selection by the Arizona Cardinals as they are shopping. Josh rosen. It's not they have not announced yet they have not made that official, but there's just been confirmation from other sources that he is being shopped. So to me, I think Colin Murray is going to be going to the cardinals with the first overall pick. And with this trade the Browns are a serious contender. I mean, just look at this offense Baker Mayfield under center Nick chub behind him. And when cream hunt comes back probably from his suspension, which is probably like six games roughly he'll be back in the lineup. Oda Beckham on one side Jarvis land joined the other you'll LSU teammates Antonio Calloway in the slot. Davis. David Joko at tight end. That's a great lineup right there. That makes Baker Mayfield. Job so much easier. When you have that much talent at the receiver position anti-dam position as well as your running game being strong with with Nick Chubb, who is extremely underrated is one of those in my opinion, one on the top picks in the draft. I'm sorry top pigs fantasy football wise in the draft.
