And we're going to do this lawfully and constitutionally. I want the rest of the world to know our plans so that there's no twisting and lying about who and what we are. So we are leaving the choice to you the decision is in your hands. This whole convoy, this whole assembly on the national mall. It doesn't even have to happen if you just end things now, and we can get on with our lives.

"Eight hundred gs is a a good entry level adventure bike it's The the twelve hundred The are twelve hundred. Has big boxer twin. It's a lot more power. And i wouldn't. I wouldn't do that as a first bike. the f. Eight hundred has a parallel twin. It's a little narrower. It's it's as tall or almost as tall But it's a little lighter Easier to maneuver. So i might try something like that As far as an adventure bike. i mean the harley panamerican That i wrote recently and you could see my review of it It has a big powerful engine up to. I believe it's one hundred and seventy horsepower. But you can write it in a reduced power mode where drops the power down to one hundred fifteen horsepower so you can really It was not super heavy. it's pretty pretty maneuverable. pretty agile. The height adjustable suspension means that you come to a light and it you know it. Settles see santer flat foot and it has traction control in abs. and all those kinds of things so You're you wouldn't get into so much trouble. Alternatively you know something deeply used us us keilor a used forever. yeah Yeah pretty much Justin becker has a okay twenty thirteen. Bmw active hybrid three. It's a bmw. It's a three thirty five with an electric motor in the torque converter and i love the hybrid powertrain. Are there any hybrid performance cars. You're looking forward to at less than a thousand one hundred thousand dollars. No i'm looking forward to the aftermarket. Hybrid was that. Come on von leo. If more people try that that seems interesting and kind of exciting but I mean no. I'm sorry to say it's a it's a one word answer but but i mean no. I'm particularly impressed. I mean i'm pressed. But i'm not excited by you. Know we just put up the video of the accurate sex which is impressive. But i'm not excited by it by owning in. And i i don't i don't aspire to own it. We drove the sf ninety ferrari impressive. But i don't aspire to own that For me I'm not interested in performance hybrids. I like I liking it. And then i like engaging drivers cars and i think hybrids are great Especially extended range like the volt are great as appliances if you can't charge as much frequently But there's nothing about a hybrid powertrain that inspires me or makes me wanna spend my own money on one From sporting perspective. Because it will. We know it's gonna add weight. That's the problem you know. The cars are already getting too heavy. And then if you take something fun camaro or something and then add hybrid powertrain. You're adding even more way to which doesn't need miata like you're gonna ruin what makes it great or b. r. z. Right it adds weight. It doesn't need an ed power. It doesn't need You know right i don't. I don't think that that. The addition of that hybrid powertrain to go from a ferrari f eight to the sf. Ninety makes absolutely no difference in the real world. These cars are both insanely fast I know in the nfl. The hybrid powertrain is part of what makes the handling so magical. Well that's cool And it's and it's impressive. What it can do. But i don't i i don't want to own that i think has so many other flaws. That almost detract from how good it is to drive in in the performance that like the interior is so dull and an constraint like it feels small. There's not a lot of places to put things and it's very uninteresting to sit and look around your cabin in that right there. You're like well if being in the car is so much experience in addition to driving it. And you've just lost that. Yeah it it really reduces and i mean i know the first intersex was not the most interesting place to sit either but i think it moved this ball forward and we appreciate that more. But there's other options out there at that price point. Yeah brad has a twenty eleven range rover. Five point oh as hse. That just won't stop breaking. Should i keep fixing it and stay in the whole or replace it with four by pickup truck diesel. Well you're asking a financial financial question. This is not a car question. I mean there's literally nothing you're going to do with this rate and like your ranger is not going to stop breaking like if it's been breaking over and over like it ain't getting newer. The parts of the parts aren't Aren't going to be in any better condition You know you're talking about a ten year old vehicle that was designed with a ten year service life. You're at the end of the the intended service life. Like i've learned this press launches. What intended service. Life is Range rovers not have an intended service life beyond ten years. Do not have it intended service life beyond hundred thousand miles. Wow so if yours is older than that and works has more miles than that. And it works. You are the exception. You're not the rule The only vehicle that i know of that is designed with an intended service. Life over ten years is the land cruiser which is a twenty five year design. And that's why it's ninety thousand dollars toyota. Because the actual hardware is more robust. And the things that can break are simpler and durable in proven Old range rovers. I mean if you're dumping money into it now you're gonna keep dumping money into it forever. So i can't tell you to to replace it with an f to fifty because i don't know if you want to be driving around enough to fifty. I feel like the fact he's asking. It tells me that you don't love it anymore or as much as you need to keep throwing money at it like if you can get something especially a newer pickup truck this can have lots of new features ride. Nice be quiet They do a lot of things. Really well in twenty eleven. You might be just as happy with that as you would with the range rover and yeah you don't get to like pull up and be like range over but but range over years. It's broken all the time. I try to ask me how i know. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. Having a having saying you have a luxury vehicle but the reality is your luxury vehicles. Never quite right That's not where is it. Let's in the shop again. You don't wanna do that. Yeah yeah let's see swerving eight wants to know. Where do we get our plane t shirts. Actually i've been buying the warri. what's it for. It's like one of these like it's almost like lululemon but they haven't figured out that it's lululemon yet. You know what i mean nice it's like technical fabrics it's vu. And i've been. I bought like ten shirts from them. Recently that's plain t shirts and bought on amazon. And once i found a pack i liked. I just bought twenty of them. They're twenty black t. shirts there. You go Kevin says with the next generation c. Sixty three moving to four cylinders In your opinion will eight c. Sixty three's is beginning to hold their value The model is the ninety two. Bmw look to the ninety-two bmw m. Three and it's it's it's residual values I think there's a floor will they. Will they begin their value. I mean there is a floor right. I and they will not go below that floor. Yeah and so. That's so yes. I mean look as i think too right now a manual gearbox ninety two m three is more desirable than it was when it was new Yeah probably because it sounds great You know the styling has aged very well. Well when it was new. I think it was also kind of king of the ring when it was new because at the time the c. Sixty three had such a shift transmission and was just like the. The attitude of the car was different right and now but the sixty that came out like two or three years ago also terminally well and shift quickly those. That's the sweet spot for the c sixty three. You're not like the box. He won the the the the current gen. Yeah yeah yeah. Those are fantastic. Those are very good Sean says thirty five k. Would you prefer veloce n or a new eighty-six for fun experience. I mean here's the question. I assume this person is not asking. The that's an only car question veloce a weekend toy The real question is do. You need a back seat or not. That's really more i mean. Do you want to drive the front wheels at the rear wheels. And do you need a back seat. That's much more important than which is fun. Both of those cars are leaders in their class currently but a front drive experience and a rear-drive experience and a car with a big trunk and an an real rear seats versus a car. That doesn't have those things has a real trunk. But it doesn't have real receipts. We're talking about real world practical differences so in a vacuum where it's just my fat ass and nothing else. I'd rather have the eighty-six because the steering is is a little better And a a rear-drive experience is preferable to me. Yeah all other things being equal. If i could only buy one car that i had to actually live with and carry stuff and carry people and get in and out of fifty times a day. I'd probably rather have the hyundai because it would probably be easier to live with it more..

"When they start running shit you can buy and drive on the street. Maybe i'll be more Hopefully some companies do that where they just retrofit a streetcar to run in it. I don't know if i don't know who's doing what with what cars. And what teams. But that's what i think. The fans are excited about when they announced this class is oh shit if we start seeing a Exact running that looks like a koenigsee mclaren or whatever that will be really thought. It was but the stuff that was racing in. This doesn't really look like that. And i know glickenhaus can put a plate on his car Like i know he can And good for him. You know good for the good for them. but Honestly whatever was going on in the mon- i this year. I just didn't find it interesting enough to watch. Yeah yeah. I don't know what i was doing but it was more interesting in that No nope sorry. But sorry about Adam mcfadden said my family has had my family. That's family has had jags and aston's if money is similar which is the better green on tan british roadster to own two thousand fourteen f type visa s or a four point seven v eight vantage v advantage the advantage hundreds advantage. Yeah yeah yeah yeah the. Va advantage set. The the the the end of the last gen is very good. Yeah the for the four point seven. You don't want four point three really. I mean it's fine but it just is more noise than speed. Four point seven a little quicker Those are really nice. Cars look great sound great. They don't have too many screens right age whereas the type even when it was new. Like i like that car lot. But even when it's brand new that interior you could tell where the cost savings were and it looked like kind of modern but not that mommy. Look my mom's got a fifteen f type. V success coupe. Right and i just drove it when i was home last month. It's starting to feel a little They infotainment as feeling a little old Certain stuff about it is starting to feel a little old and hers. Hers has very very low miles. You know hers has got like i don't know six thousand miles something on it I someone said they think frazier saying that Normally stars awarded for the food are there. Are there literally for the driver just for and so what does that mean. What are best roads. i. I mean go. Anything in northern italy any physically northern ireland. Yeah i mean northern. You know what trips are worth it for. I mean on the road to hana in hawaii is great. Although there's like no sports cars. They're driving in kind of sucks. The ring road. In iceland is fabulous. you have to be willing to break. All the speed limits certainly was they. Don't fuck there's they're very obedient. There's very few police drives fast. You want iceland. I mean the roads here in the canyons are amazing. Yeah dr downs. Ohi route thirty three. You know The north georgia mountains. Where i just was anything near. The mountains is great. The dixie national forest. Which has been burning for two weeks northeast of sacramento when we did performance car of the year Couple of years ago those roads. I was like what this is here. Those were some of the best roads that i've ever driven and they were in the middle nowhere. There's nothing around if they were beautiful. There's no reason to ever be in that part of the state except to go there. I mean that's the mountain and then you find a road that goes between nothing and not. That's going to be good. Yeah so you should do. Yeah yeah Let's see ricardo says. Is there a place in the market for a re-imagined mustang fox body keeping a solid rear axle for car. Feeling like it is the problem is you can't unshipped box that car. It's not possible. A car that was built that poorly from the factory like like with a nine with singer. You're starting with such a high quality product really high quality product. The a nine six four. Find yourself a even a fairly crappy nine six four and slam the door. That's tight you know what i mean. Read that that's tight everything about it's gonna be tight even kind of crappy one on shit. Boxing is almost impossible. The best unshipped. Boxing i've seen is icon. And they have to rebuild everything. Everything and i don't i just don't know who like who would spend three hundred grand on a fox body because that's what it would cost because you the reengineer the whole car like detroit's speed will probably build you the fashion or s handling nicely pointed fox body you can get or comparable shop but to go that extra level of senior where you're pulling every panel apart and like reengineering it your whole body with carbon rocks body right and you've got a mold carbon body right and also that's like that's a body on frame car So you need to make it like no. it's not. It's not really has sub frames. It's not really body on frame but like unshipped boxing. That is just you know. Things are made a plastic. You have to take all the plastic out and change it with something else right member when icon To go back to icon they unshipped box. The caprice member that yeah. It was a million dollars. Yeah and people went. I'm sorry what it still looks like. A caprice goes. Yeah but there's no more plastic. We made everything out of metal. And that's why it's a million dollars so like if you found someone who wanted that bad enough they would fund it and nobody else would know what i mean. Yeah so it'd be hard. It's a nice idea and but i think the limit would-be to go someone to someone like detroit speed. Who could build you a transam style car. That would really perform. That would be much tighter than stock. There would look great and drive great. But i don't know who wants to spend the money to get a fox potty to that next level because at the end of the day like you know for the money like a singer nine eleven or a gunther nine. Eleven like those are like. That's a superior product like or you can spend five hundred grand and go to like carbon re-creations and they knew of the sixties mustang full carbon. Yeah because i think the question is does. The fox body have global universal appeal like the nine eleven mustang or something. No probably not. So that's why that market so much smaller. No i mean fox. Bodies are cool for what they are. But and there's there's an argument that if you like fox bodies enough that maybe spent six figures on building the sickest one ever but beyond that i think we're talking diminishing returns. Yeah yeah Nick upchurch is in the market for a first motorcycle. Adventure bike moderate budget. Six foot five two hundred and fifty pounds Want to be comfortable. Probably not ready for a super big heavy bike. the bmw f..

"Land in the world of custom seko's and you'd have a unique which is also cool. Watch people love when they have the only one of something and so that would actually be My recommendation is to have a custom piece mate. Frazier replied i. Hit him up. Jazirah is there a no. Fraser has not replied. Yeah all right. We'll come back if he comes back. we watch the twenty four hours of le mom dot minute. Nope not one minute of it Thoughts of the new hypercard class to me. They look like l. m. p. one cars so like i mean the hypercard class. It's not like they're it's not like it's like law. Ferrari in nineteen and racing. They their race cars so the fact that they're called the hyper car class. I mean in theory they have to build st versions of those. Is that the idea Ooh i don't know i should i. Should i mean toyota. One hyper class right one to finish right. They're not top tier p. One class right. Is that not the hypercard. Because i think the point of the hydrocare class Is to bring the cost down because the for the cost for the top teams which is what we all kind of started to pay attention to and see with the porsche. Nine one nine and Toy does like tesol borrow. It was so fucking expensive that that's why companies started bowing out of it. 'cause there's like hundreds of millions of dollars to develop these things that can really only in the hypercard class helping and who else i think for ours coming back to. It's coming back for it back to it. So it has more restriction. So it's going to even the cost out for everybody a bit more. So you're gonna have high performance vehicles that are just don't have to be spaceships and cost that much money. So maybe it'll be more competitive more populated. I don't particularly care about prototype racing. I mean i just don't and if they're let's see let's pull that up. Lamont hyper car is let me see..

"Like it wasn't just like at nowhere like it was like this. Is you could see this tumble start to fucking happen if if a show has the same team for a really long time to girlfriend out for like another director. Whoever it is. I think it's really really hard for the team to make it feel the same because it's still going to have a different person and if people can execute that props to them because we've worked on things whereas like there's different people different roles and like you can usually see a different but you know because because he his shows were such an inspiration to me and j. f. and and and the people that that we know who enjoy that type of content and i've you know how many meetings have i been in where it was like. They're looking for the next bourdain which they'll they won't find But You know. I think that it's it's it's important to remember That this person was was was not only human but was like a deeply deeply flawed. You know human and and so it was A good bit of closure really. I think on the on that i really enjoy watching. Still go back and rewatch parts. Unknown no reservation rates. Great television ad is really really. Love it But you know It was sad to watch but it was really interesting and it and it it definitely As human and. I saw you know a little bit of myself in there and they of my own fucking bullshit that i'm dealing with in terms of the the anxiety and stuff like that. I had a fucking panic attack for the first time in a week. So i didn't quite run away from it entirely i but i i think i don't know i didn't have a panic attack. I had a feeling of when we got back from off roading. I had so many emails. So many and i had appointments in the afternoon that i had to run around and fuck and make and i. I had a deep deep feeling of crushing overwhelmed. Nece and i fucking yelled at my dad for nothing night yell at him but i was short with him Over something dumb. I apologize this morning and it's not you. This was about me and venting whatever you should do that. If you if you if you mess up you should apologize. but it it's you know you you you can't you can't always run from it. You know what i mean you you gotta fucking deal with it. I don't think you ever get pat. Like the more i learn about me. And then other people is. Everyone's dealing with something to varying degrees. Some people are dealing with much more difficulty than others but pretty much. Everybody has something. They're trying to fix or figuring causing them a problem. They're not aware of you. Know you're never gonna get probably fully passed it because usually so deeply entrenched in who we are in the mechanics of our brains right but you learn about it and learned to manage it you know and then it has less power than it used to. Yeah so i'm reading. A book called the four agreements. Right now which is a very interesting book. That i need to get too far into but i recommend that it really has it's about It's basically saying that the world is hell everything out. Everything is hell the whole world one is hell but you you can experience heaven on earth and it's it's written by a religious person. I'm not religious. It's not selling any type of thing. It's more about here. These things that you can do. Your life is based on a series of agreements that you've made like someone. If if if you tell me that. I'm fat and i i. I also think that i'm fat. That reinforces itself as an agreement and it becomes like permanent and it's about breaking those agreements like the example in the book like if a child is singing in the parent tells this child stop singing. You sound like shit now. That child may never sing again. And the parent may forget that but the but the child already was insecure apparent. Said your voice sounds like shit now. The agreement is you sound like shit and you need to break this agreement by making a new stronger agreement with yourself so you the idea would be in this example. I'm going to sing alone in the shower. And i don't care if i sound like shit and you just you know maybe now now next singing a karaoke bar whatever and you you you basically. It's very hard. It takes a lot of work. But you have to break those agreements that you've made in your past by forming new ones with yourself it's right. It's just proved the far stronger correct. Yeah so we're trying that it sounds like good stuff does yeah. Yeah so you know so anyway. It's not it's a fucking it's is is a long process but still no we. We had some caffeine this morning though we We had less than you. I like twenty five percent off. When i get it i i. I decided to a half season going to fifty percent. Caffeine would happen. I think maybe twenty five right because you've reset. So i really noticed the driver change part of the video and we switched and i was like getting buckled in. And you started literally snapping your fingers. Not at me like let's go. It was more like you and caffeine working now. Yeah i think so. Yeah think. I think maybe twenty five percent twenty-five calf is where it's at. Yeah you start to scan up. And i was like i think maybe. That's enough caffeine. Yeah yeah yeah i love. This car can't can't driver impressions or embargo saying So anyway that's that's what's going on. I don't know what. I said in the intro. Because i recorded it last week so i sip. We're talking about things. I wonder if we actually got to them. I think we did. I think we can go to. Let's go to the people. Let's go to the people i'm sure there are the people have a few things to say No they do about that all right. Let's take it to the top Cameron thank you for your donation. Really appreciate that Frazier says michelin stars. Were awarded on making a journey. Wait oh for the drive. What i'm sorry. Oh for okay. So frazier says the michelin guide was awarded making a journey to visit. Because of the food. Would i award of for the drive. Like like A road michelin starred. Roads is that what that means or is he saying would we award michelin stars for a certain car on certain road. Oh for the. I think frazier if you're still here. Put that in the regular chat and clarify. I'm not really sure what you're talking about It looks like they're still in the chat You gotta you gotta maybe do some more words. Alex says What's watches. Can i recommend with a purple face for a thousand dollars I'm sorry i have absolutely no idea a purple face. I i'm sure i've seen watches with purple faces Actually here's my recommendation. My recommendation is that you call one of the customs saco. People that i have worked with one is God instagram shadow watchmaker Another one is an heraldic. G lab That used to be saco lab changes name. He didn't want to get any copyright infringements and harass lab. I would go. I would have something custom made A thousand dollars is Certainly enough money to get a a nice tool functional. Watch to a watch as a as a good thing here not You're not a tool if you wear it's But purple is not a common dial color And so. I don't know who makes something off the rack at that price. Point in the hugh that you're talking about but if you go to a custom custom shop You know like one of the shadow watchmaker or an harass lab who i've worked with on On instagram before. I'm sure that you could send them the exact color you want. And they could find A watch with dial that is That is the color that you're looking for There there are a thousand dollars. Goes a long way in the world..

"Hemingway that live these sort of degenerate lives but because they were so good at using the written word that they're they're degenerate lives became glamorous. And somehow and almost like redeemed you know it's like rockstar like we all look at rockstar. Who are so good at playing music. The throw televisions or they have a destructive life. Wow that's cool right. But then what's interesting about anthony bourdain. That is different from the rest of those people is that you can see in the film as he is going through his life. His shows It seems are really about him trying to be a better person. When he first started making tv he was like a junkie line cook. That had never left. New york like are not never left new york but like never left the country Are never really done any traveling and not really seen a lot and it became super clear. What how. He shifted his focus when he started travelling into being like. Wow i need to listen to all these people rather than just bled mcnabb and as he went on through his career he became more of like a better person whether it was like a good journalist. A good father you know. But he also had this sort of obsessive nece. That came from being a junkie quit. Heroin cold turkey but he never went to like recovery so he he just kind of jumped obsessions right now. It went from heroin to cooking too. Bright adding to traveling to jujitsu to his kid to asia are gento. And you know the last one You know the i not necessarily. It's not like oh just. The woman killed him or anything like that. I'm not blaming her but but they they were. They were two people. That should not have been dating. You know his his obsessive and her problems like there was just. That was gonna be a fucking disaster but but at the end of his life when he became sort of this big voice in the me too thing that was you know his sort of pinnacle of taking up because but but ultimately underneath all that he was still like very human and while he's making his great television people would describe him as kind of an asshole you know and and having these demons and that he that he never could run away from you know he was always trying to find a way to pour himself into something to run away from his himself. And like i like. I saw like a lotta myself in that. You know where like i one of the reasons. I like to smoke weed so much. So i wouldn't have dreams because i've never had good dreams. I've only had bad dreams my whole life. I've only had nightmares. I've never had dreams and actually my dreams are starting to come back. And they're fucking horrible. Last three nights. I dreamt last night tuned three nights ago i dreamt of driving a cayenne down an icy road and i fucking rolled it down a cliff and died and i woke up rolled ice cliff the day after that i dreamt that i went to get a tattoo and and it was like on my back so i couldn't see what the tattoo artist doing aztec were done. I the tattoo ours was like i liked this better. I just did a different completely different tattoo unrelated to what i wanted. I made some artistic changes Hope you like it last night My dream i drowned in a rainstorm. So like my dreams are horrible. They've always been horrible. And so like i kind of like have used. We'd run from that and just other stuff. Like i've used my insane. No work ethic to run out from under my father's shadow you know to varying degrees of success and even fewer degrees of happiness. So so i could. I understood that perspective. And i also understood that like if anthony bourdain wasn't a very talented writer that that worked on his craft and really had a way with writing much more so than actually presenting to camera. He's not that great of a presenter to cameron. that's why i strongly driven. My voice is all very good right. And i think the benefit of that is that he's able to leave a place reflect on it a bit and probably craft a better story or shirt and a little bit more wisdom. If you just react to the moment these all that stuff the in person stuff is just him walking around staring shit and him asking people questions and then having having them answering them and being a good listener right. That's pretty much and studying about a place so he knows what to ask when he goes and having you know And also his his work ethic you know his work ethic in terms of being on time. Doing what you're saying you're gonna do committing and following through like if he didn't have those two things he would have just never would have never been anybody really. He has been in this x. Junkie cook you know. And so. I think there's a lot of there's a lot to be said for having those two things and how you can make them work for you. The ability to use the written word and the commitment to to live up to your commitments to be on time to be ready when someone needs you for your work and discipline our talent every time right right. He was disciplined. Yes the work in be a better presenter journalist etc yeah yeah But it definitely it definitely took him off a little bit of that sort of godly pedestal. That he ended up on for a lot of people maybe including myself a little bit after he died. You know well because we only were getting. The show is presented as viewers. that's what we know That's as much as we know somebody because we know them for this body of work and then when they die. oh. I love their body of work so much. We're not gonna have any. That's such a bummer. And stuff like this you learn more about their life and you just you know them With more depth. Right yeah true. And i think that You know it was really interesting. The way that his friends talked about him because they they talked about him like a human real with real problems. They were frilly straight frank about it. You know And i think it's a really good film. I really recommend it There was controversy where they used a sort of an ai. Technology to turn Something he had written Into something he spoke oh they deep faked his voice a little bit. And if you know it's there you can hear it. There's a little. There's ten seconds of speaking. That doesn't quite sound exactly like his voice. They did that in the documentary. Oh interesting and there was a. There was a bit of a controversy about it when when it came out. But i don't think it detracts from from the story and i don't i don't think they do it to make a point that you know to make him say something that he didn't really say it's just that he wrote it. He didn't speak it so they didn't have it recorded. they have a lot. I mean they have a lot of a lot of footage of him. You know from long from for years so And it was really interesting. I thought to watch the behind the scenes of his very first show a cook's tour when he has like no fucking clue what he's doing And that was like okay. You know he didn't. He didn't just wake up one day with the ability to to do nobody. Does you know he wakes up with the ability like but the other thing i didn't know is that the very end Before he died the last few shows he made he brought. Asia are gento on his director. Got sick and he brought her on to be director. So it's like ham and this girl obsessed with and the shows which i've seen like a hong kong one and there's an italy one and it's from that last season they came out. Okay you know i. it's not. It's not immediately apparent what went on behind the scenes to see the finished product but the behind the scenes. Like oh my god. This woman is like fucking up their whole methodology For how they make these shows and he's making these compromises that he just said he would never make you know. Because she's there and he's so focused on her that he he throws away a lot of his director for like all the seasons of new reservations. Like yeah or for most of unknown the same. Same team yeah. Yeah yeah and so so you can you can. I eat not at the time because it just wasn't public but now in the film you go. Oh wow this is. It's not just like it wasn't just like at nowhere like it was like this. Is you could see this tumble start to fucking happen if if a show has the same team for.

"We drove a little bit on tarmac. We drove it a little bit of fire road and we went over a couple obstacles in the obstinate in the offered practice area. We did So you get you get a pretty pretty well rounded A view of the outback wilderness. And we did two videos bronco. We did a An on road and off road videos. Well so there's a lot of bronco content. yeah. I mean the compromises with wilderness. It gets a little. The gas mileage is reduced a little bit from the regular outback. Because you're you know. Higher higher in tires. Combination of the tires being higher up in the air But there's also some really good break. Like i know dive like you hit the brakes. Like there's definitely there's definitely you know. Safari might reminded me of my safari nine eleven You know the body moves on the suspension. A little more than a regular road tuned car. It's a nice little safari grocery getter type of thing. Yeah i forgot. It has a lower final drive ratio. Give the ascent. That's also why the gas mileage if that makes sense would you call it. The outback of outback's staubach at outback outback basically I it was good enough. That if i wanted that type of thing i probably would skip over the regular outback and go straight to straight to that you know. Yeah 'cause it's just it it. It gives up very little. It's not like you buy an outback for its precision handling what you get is more outback ability. More a sense stuff for As an approach car like ryan to a crazy hiking trail or mountain bike trail. It's gonna handle pretty much anything right and and actually the different modes like the ex mode like the mud ruts mode. It really did change the throttle response. And how what the gearbox did it it. it's a cvt but it kept it pretty much. I wanted it to be And it That i figured out. That was the only way to fully turnoff tracks. Control is to go to the mud ruts mode and when you do it's off. So that's that's good off off And the in that mode the all wheel drive system was biased towards the rear. So it does allow you to do a mild amount of holding a slide and won't let you really do it but but it's it's it can be fun. I'll lose surface. It would be fun if you were in Like sand or snow where you need to maintain that momentum and that will speed. that's what that's for. It would be helpful. Yeah and and you know that. The cvt It seems like they that someone at subaru knows the times that you don't want that drone like if you're on a highway going from sixty to ninety miles an hour it intuitively acts like a regular gearbox. That does a fake gearchange speaking. I think they know that you don't want it to go. You know Because that's just unpleasant. Yes so You know it it it. Does that pushiness a little bit. But it figures out kind of when the an annoying times would be for it to do that and doesn't do it. You know it's really quiet inside like they did a good job of hiding the sound and the envy from the engine in the But overall i mean. I know by the way johnny was talking. Shit about putting the doors back on the bronco on that show to zach and i did it in ten minutes with that literally time. It was exactly ten minutes and we did not have to put painter's tape on anything we were able to line it up and get them on I think it's probably not quite as easy as a wrangler to put the doors back on. They are pretty heavy. They are heavy and needed to us. Like like he said like guided version just to hold the back right But it was not that hard. I mean it really. Wasn't it took a couple of minutes. You know once you figure out like okay. I stand here and like if we did it again. It would probably take even less time. Yes and you know wants the door is hung you. Don't it's not like you have to have a bolt for it to stay like once. It was hung. You know you could walk away and you could just you just bolted up so taking doors off is fun. I mean it's little shady in terms of like. Wow i'm really exposed. Here aren't yeah. I took it out to these beauty shots On the street. And when i took a you know a right hand turn onto a big parkway at like forty miles an hour. I was very aware that there nothing seat belt. And my hands are gonna keep me in the in the car right but it was weird is a little unsettling they like an accessory right. That's like a tube frame kind of thing that goes to men if every accessory you could want for that think through for performance and if you're off roading and you weren't doing high-speed dusty stuff like yeah it'd be fun you can just see more of the landscaping more connected to it all that shit. Be fun speaking of seymour in the bronco. That front camera is very helpful. Yes when you've got a high dash and you've got a high nose climb mountain. It has a really nice high resolution front camera that pretty much just stays on. Can you can make it go away but when you're in that off-road mode forget what mode we were in mud ruts maybe it just stays on and it really helps you see what's happening under the noses very high resolution nice camera. Yeah very good. And the big screen to. It's like eleven point six or so Outer banks good. If i was going to get one of those i'd get the big get. The big screen option is. But you probably want that. Yeah that's a nice truck. It's worth the money. They're charging for it. I think yeah. I put the top off myself in about two minutes. Very easy yeah. It's really cool. Yeah they do a good job. So that's that we videos coming of those next couple of weeks i think. Probably what day is it. It's wednesday so not next week. The week after is going to be bronco week Next week we've got the do coty monster which is actually my favorite motorcycle i've ever ridden. It's a cool video. And i've got the i. Yeah yeah I watched roadrunner. They anthony bourdain documentary and i. It was really interesting. I think if anyone is a fan of bourdain they should see it If you aren't a fan of ordain you might you might not get much out of it. but you know it was What was really interesting is like for people that are into him you know especially when he died He almost got like you know defied you know what i mean And so much of that is like Because he had this way with words that was effectively translated into television. And so what is very interesting about The documentary to me was how human it made him again. You know it was. It was like an and he even he said it himself in the beginning of the movie that he idolized people. Like william s burroughs and hunter thompson and ernest..

"Disconnecting sway bar and only has five goats instead of six or seven right despite that zero problem with the trail. Yeah in fucking just right up. The trail picked the hard lines. You know very little work required by the driver. Yeah and it didn't have hill descent control which i don't use that much anyway but with the low range might as well be hill descent control. Yeah we we put in low first gear. And i mean i think i took my foot on a pretty steep slope and it was going to miles an hour miles an hour. Yeah we reached my personal limit or highest score of thirty degrees hill. A little to tilt. Yeah we had a problem or see-saw at one point. We had a rear wheel. That was at least three feet in the air you know and it can. It'll lean over pretty far and make some who come out a little bit. It'll it'll get up that hill. Yeah it. Was you know it performed so well that it would be tough for me to to justify to any non. Very hard core off. Roader that they need more. I mean i can't. I can't imagine what more i would personally need than to be able to get up a trail like that with ease. Yeah like we said. The only thing we noticed in the fire road to get there was that the regular shocks are a little bouncy like the suspension is tuned for the street. It feels like on. The ride was really good on the fire road. The ride was awful. Really i mean i was. I was shocked at how bad it was the second i hit fire road now. We didn't air down stock air pressures And it got a little better. When i switched from two wheel drive to four wheel drive because i think i was. You got a little less. Hop from the live axle But still the ride was atrocious. Owner just kind of pogo ing around your cabinet. In the comparison we had is because we had outback wilderness. There that road like dreams rides great by itself objectively them when we went from one to the other like. Oh this is what a softer strong software damp car can do. Yeah i mean that was built by a company that builds rally cars You know and so we thought that unibody body on frame but i'll sure suspension was definitely better put The we talked with johnny about taking the outback wilderness. Up off the trail that are trail as you'll see in our bronco video it that shale evolves and changes and yesterday it was rocky and really rutted and there was no way. i mean. We could've tried but we would have broken it for one percent. We would have broken it. Yeah something a phone call. I wouldn't have had to made. Yeah johnny the. I think the last time we did that trail it was The more more dirt covering rocks which also made those little kasim smoother because they were filled in and this time much more jagged which actually aids interaction a lot. So i think those tires the all seasons they perform well there. Yeah but like the land cruiser might not have gotten stuck if we went up when it was sandy yeah But the drops. I mean we would have scraped a lot of stuff. It didn't have the ground clearance. Yeah or the or the torque really because of the cvt yeah Having said that it actually worked out well because the difference between it and the bronco on the fire road was real like oh we should film this on the fire road because you can actually drive at like a rally car a little bit you can flick it and oversteer it into a into a loose surface corner which you'll see in the video And with that extra ground clearance and suspension travel. You know you can hit stuff. Pretty hard on a fire road you hit jumps and i jumped it a little bit You know and you can Go straight over. Some routes that in a in a traditional rally car you would avoid because it would be not tall enough yeah That's a nice car. It is really nice. A really nice car under forty thousand dollars to start the thirty s like thirty eight grand start which is eighteen hundred more than the regular outback mill. You get the clearance. You get the you can get the Skip plates option It's basically really for the clearance and then like the bronze tow hooks and those kinds of things. Yeah the fabric sides nice. Yes got the water It's not water resistant. but it's like it's easy e-especially. Easy to clean the called star. Tech's something like that. Yeah they got they always gonna come up with these new named rick. Well they starts. Because i think the subaru thing that makes their media system is link which is slow and that needs an update dustless darling. It's it's not good it's fine put man. Does it react slow. Like a couple seconds hit the button then hit the button then hit the button and it and it and it's not actually as simple as it looks get getting through the menu like it took take me a while to figure out where to find stuff Despite its like all their icons are so big that they blur together so it actually makes it less intuitive navigate. Yeah it and it just it. There's certain like there's the row of buttons on the bottom. That's like one is the home button. And then another one is for like car functions and like it's not immediately obvious which button you should press for certain stuff i mean. Obviously if if you use the car lot you'd figure it out but like going back and forth between like my phone car and the radio like was not as intuitive as i wanted I kept having to manually do it for some reason. Like if i had directions come up on carplay. I'd have to like click back to radio. That was kind of annoying I the more. I use the system. The less i liked it honestly but everything else about the car. Lot of car for the money in rear seat trunk rooms great. It's basically as tall as my machi. Subaru considers or other roof to roof. Okay yeah it's pretty much the same fight as the machi. Wow it did have a lot of headroom. Yeah it's got a lot of room. It was nice. I mean in general and we still got it for another few days So if you've got follow up questions that we didn't answer. We drove a little bit on tarmac. We drove it a little bit of fire road and we went over a couple obstacles in the obstinate in the offered practice area. We did So you get you get a pretty.

"And i don't know what's going on this last week. It's real easy to put a guy in a suit and say next year this is gonna be a robot when everybody else is so complicity stupid Yeah i'll be very very in a year from now. this one of those things i just. They just updated the model s. Which came out in twenty twelve twenty twelve car with updates. There's there are no updates for their other. Cars to cyber truck thing is fucking unbelievable. We're gonna learn to don't don't get me wrong. We are going to learn everyone. I already know. I knew from the second i saw. Everyone else will learn that. It's unbelievable and garbage and best case. Unbelievable garbage worst-case totally fake and fraud. It'll just be probably one of the things that falls by the wayside again. We may find out presenting this robot. got some kind of tax break just like the fake hot swapping batteries when they took hundreds of millions of dollars in tax credits for presenting their fake hot swap -able battery thing and then destroying the hot swap station and never hot swapping single battery yet but the kept the money so they try because they game the system. They played that they tried. Rame the system. Everyone should read your march book. Yup and tim higgins is if you want another another opinion which i finished So anyway that's what i think about the they're non robot it's not a robot it won't ever be a robot it's a guy in a suit and if you believe him that it'll be a robot you have no fucking brain cells left. They really demo someone in a suit like walking around or is it just didn't see it. No i just saw his rendering. That is a person in a suit that did fucking dances on the stage. There's a video of it. That did the fucking robe i mean. It's it is literally you have to assume that your people the your fans are the stupidest people on the planet that have no critical thinking ability. No fucking brain cells and we'll just listen to any garbage. You feed them. It is unbelievably shit. Look guy yeah. Of course shoot unfit tackling wrinkles if anyone watches this and thinks it's a robot thinks it's a robot but it's but it's it's the worst way to demo this like it's so fucking bad bad it's so dumb like and if you watch this and he goes next year this will actually be a robot. It's like what are you smoking this. That's insane as really strange. That's insane and he then said he said some dumb shit like we'll be basically. Our cars are basically already robots which is about as dumb as things get. Someone's knocking on my door. I will answer it this subaru. Oh boy oh boy this exact and put the keys in a box. Got to put the keys in the box. Who would have done that. The robot league got it right. Yeah right i could fire my whole staff here and just have these robots parked cars probably a couple of years two years. This is something else i mean. If you if you believe one word this guy says at this point you have lost your last brain cell this weird launch. What a fucking. It's on the guardian news. it's everywhere it bad. Several minutes like of trash it's like Like looney tunes when someone's on stage like just vamp for while and it just bugs bunny like doing the shuffle and shit. That's what they're doing is literally a shuck and jive routine. Geez it's atkin horrid and the and it's and it's just look look at the headlines elon. Musk announces tesla elon. Musk the tesla bodice coming tech tech crunch. Musk the tesla is coming like. Why doesn't it say why isn't that headline. Musk says stupidest shit in the world. That makes no sense like like you. Can't we already know. The general public is not smart enough. You need to tell them tech crunch why this is bullshit like it is the responsibility. Look here's the here's the quote basically if you think about what we're doing right now with cars tesla's arguably the world's biggest robotic company because our cars are like semi sentient robots on wheels. That is absurdly stupid. That's not remotely true and it's incredibly dumb like it just is sorry like well. I mean to protect crunches credit like break here. They say they point out that honda and gm have both had a robots that are advanced. Why are we hyped about tesla. is he just. Because it's tesla or is it because this is potentially powerful vision his powering it like who knows if anything will come of this robot but nobody reads so it's very important. What the headline says. What is the headline of that article. Okay well let me now. Now you have to get into a giant discussion about journalism right and the internet in general but like what with the headline all these started all these mainstream headlines. Start by giving him the benefit of the doubt when the track record says. Don't listen to anything. This guy says because he never fucking delivers on it. Yeah they could get in trouble for live without. I think. I mean. I mean i don't think so. I think i think i don't know we'd have other outlets. I mean other other less mainstream outlets were critical. Is the mainstream outlets. They're not critical and you want them critical in the headline. I think that's the main thing because it's like. This is kind of skeptical. I wouldn't call it critical. But i mean well it just it. Just i agree with you that this will probably never come to pass for record. What i'm saying is that we know that publications Across the internet are doing very bad jobs if reporting lots of factual things these days. Because they do it for clicks they have robots that right the stories for them. I don't think this person but they were skeptical at the bottom. But they all have quotas like they're losing market share to twitter instagram youtube et cetera. And so they just need to bring people in or these things will fold which sucks because we the people who read these things are often getting worse. Content right but dependent problem is it's like so many headlines are musk says this. Here's how mosque lives things. Musk does that. You can learn for like no one's ever hang on disguise running scams. This is not an ethical person. Stop quoting him right. Because that's not going to get the traffix ridiculous people. We love humans. Love to see a billionaire or successful person and go. What do they eat for breakfast because we go. We'll fight that. Maybe although i know. It's fucking stupid. Prefab house is tax avoidance house in texas hoops sewing all my properties. I don't wanna own anything. My gulfstream six though keep that keep my gulfstream six all all live at a prefab house in texas on my factory. Which by the way. His company owns the entire town that houses in the whole town. Really the whole town is owned by spacex so he lives on his own companies giant property in his little tiny house but he can fly his g six to anywhere at any time and stay in any fucking twelve star hotel or rent. Anything he wants like. There's no virtue in uncritically. Reporting look is down. Oh you mean. He's sold everything in california that he would pay property taxes on. Okay yes i understand. That's a good point of course is. Why does anyone leave california. No one will say it out loud. The only reason why people leave california they don't wanna pay properties that's rogan disclose. That didn't use just like. Yeah it's well you probably yeah. He probably said it's one hundred million dollars or one hundred million bucks for sure but like ilan won't say that because his company is the biggest fucking california welfare case in history california's given hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars..

"Five eight and one hundred thousand though these little specific bits of physicality about this hypothetical bought or just on critically Posted right and This piece in fairness Does have some some bit of criticism to it trying to find larger photo because there's so many ads on this. I mean this one. This is one in the first paragraph says. Hey where's the cyber truck but but it's a it is truly amazing. The lack of critical thinking ability of these people who are writing and they just say that he's doing it like no one says like this was a guy in a suit. Boston dynamics has been doing stuff like this for two decades and nowhere near producing anything most interesting when they he put up. You know the photo in like he's like we're needed electric actuators which we're very good at and i know what i'm not an engineer but i know that five days ago i watched that video we all probably did of the boston dynamics. Robots running along angled boxes circle and kind of hopping up down them. And i know that maybe his is not going to try to do those things but you looked at the size of their robot and like the battery pack on it and you could hear the fans on it. Yeah and all these different actuators. It's like they look very bulky. Problem is that is presenting a quote general purpose robot in the same way. They're presenting open world autonomy as being a realistic possibility. But if you talked to anybody who works in actually works in robotics and anyone who actually works in autonomous vehicles. You realize how ridiculous this is. And i think it was it. Was it torchinsky. Who said it like if you wanted a helper robot to wash your dishes. That's real sim. Was it torchinsky. I think we have that right. Why like why would something that looks like a human and might be able to like wash plate you know by hand but like but it might also fall over. You have to watch it right. It might one day dislike fling a plate against the wall for no reason malfunction and the upside is it can wash seven plates our by hand under your faucet as opposed to this thing highly specialized that we have that. Does this task for us already. Problem solved highly efficient. Can wash hundred dishes eighty dishes. You know what i mean like and like it's it's it's it's already you know what i mean. It's like the there is no and by the way elon. Musk tried to build an automated car factory. Which is literally where each robot does one thing and one thing only over and fucking over period and it was such a disaster that they now build cars in a tent by hand with people aren't some of the Processes automated summer by people like huckabee. Arteries couple are. Yeah but the the whole thing was remember the alien dreadnought the whole thing was supposed to be automated and it was such a fucking disaster. That he he even who humans are underrated. That was the tweet the admission. That's as that's as that's as much as he would admit he was ever wrong but there is no use case none for a generalized helper robot. Because you can't. There's no such thing as a robot that works in an open world environment. That boston dynamics thing that runs in the boxes. It was programmed to run on the boxes. That fucking robot can't go to the store for you and get coffee. That robot can only run on those boxes. Now that's impressive. don't get me wrong. I think and i think he will end up at a place where there will be general robots. It just may be a really really long time not a year in our lifetime. Ninety five years more years no specialized. I'll bet you one hundred dollars today. Which will be worth twenty missy. Cummings not convinced you that open world. Brittleness is a very real problem. I agree with you. I think it's very very challenging. I think the difference is like what he was talking about labor with these robots. So if you put these in a factory that has have to move boxes but why why is a robot that looks like a human. The right answer opposed to for a box. Yeah automated forklifts that reads barcodes. Which by the way we fucking have those. They're not glamorous but they work. There's you go to any modern car factory. In the world. Probably tesla included there are automated bots that follow neither painted lines on the ground or specific routes. They do repetitive shit. They deliver parts to the stations. So that people can fuck and attach them to cars and whatnot. They're not glamorous right they don't fucking data look sexy but there's a reason they don't look sexy ca sexy doesn't fucking work because his function over form matter if it's a robot yeah but but robots should should only ever you not only ever but like there's just it's it's such a fucking horse shit it's obvious horse shit and it's so uncritically reported on in the mainstream media that it drives me insane. Nobody in the history of modern civilization has been given more credit for doing less than elon. Musk i think Let me see when did that. You never asked the fucking make anything. It's here's my dream buy into. It is just about clicks and people get paid ten dollars and they're just like here's the press release like we know that happened in the as we learned from my coon tosh article shitting on. Something is good for clicks to know these people were accurately critical about this thing they would get clicks I think we have to also remember that there are bots that right news these these days so it's very possible that the things are two hundred words and are just aggregating all over the place our auto populace at the stock spike on the fucking day. What so eight. Twenty nine was when i don't think. Ai was on the nineteenth because the article that we was on the twentieth so this is a spike from a nineteen close at six seventy three and then in the morning. So it's just a fucking stupid stock pump..

We got the subaru outback wilderness. I have had a very very interesting experience Watching the anthony bourdain film and and And its struggles and my the stuff. I've been talking about on this show along with it. It's sort of a nice little mesh thing that's happening together. And we talk about the state of the auto market. That's just completely out of control. Me and zach on this podcast. Everybody what the fucks going on What the fuck is going on. Y'all doing Welcome to the show Zach and. I had a nice beautiful morning filming new mikan. gts which. I can't talk about until august. The thirty first. Sorry that's because other people to try it first for fares these Very green but yesterday we drove the bronco off road and we drove the subaru outback wilderness. Offroad ish yeah that's all that counts. That's offroad on dirt runs very a few obstacles so yes we did. We drove the outback. Wilderness off road. We drove the bronco off road I also watched the anthony bourdain documentary and the val kilmer documentary. I'm you know there was about commercial. Yeah and the woodstock ninety nine documentary. I've been watching all of those I went opened on a new building for west side Anzac and i watched a guy this morning Discover that his catalytic converter had been stolen in real time. Half it was. That was a sad sight story. I short short. It's funny and sad. We came down off of the the hill this morning because we go film really early. Obviously that's how you do it and we came down and get breakfast. And we're sitting at an outdoor table at this little cafe in one of these Towns that sort of at the bottom of the hill and I see this guy across the street. Get into his. I don't see because who would. Who would see a guy just walking across street getting into a black honda. Crv it's not the kind of thing that would catch your eye. You're gonna hurt the aware. Matt we heard it. I heard it wo- someone's got like a hot tuner car around here and you said you're like crv. And i looked around looking for a modified. Something i couldn't see it and you kept saying it's the crv across like on the street and so then the guy turns it off and he gets out and he kinda like looks around the back of the car like to see if his tailpipe is still there. I i guess. Yeah i right. And it's it is and so he gets back in the car and starts it again like oh shit. I think he's about to realize someone stole his cat. Then he fucking search shit lays down on the ground looks under gets up and just goes like just just the fucking hand on the head. And just like trudges back into his apartment and And as soon as he was gone like a few minutes later i was like i wanna see inside win over and i laid down on this car to and yeah his fucking cat got saws all doubt. Yep i always forget that. That's a thing that happens but it happens like a lot of it started happening With increasing frequency. I think last year early last year there were more and more reports of it and then i guess it's still going and it's still hot. Trend sawed the fuck off. Yeah i mean it's there was just a section like two feet right from the middle of the guys. Exhaust the benefit of a wagon over crossover is that it's harder to get under there. Do that jack. Right like i would say like. That's the adds an argument for air suspension. If you slam your shit they're probably not gonna bother crawling under there to steal your cat For that dude. Because that's that's an expensive thing. Yeah cats are like. I've denied underdog. They're expensive and i had to replace the cats on the la- the million mile lexus thousand nine hundred dollars because it was a dual you know it's the whole assembly both sides and i think it was a. Interestingly enough the ls four hundred was old enough because it was a ninety six Where they made two different versions of the car they made up forty nine state and then a california version and even though the car was built as a not a california version replacing the cats in california you can only get the california cats so it was each side. Had an extra cat on it. That's why that's total. That's why it was so yeah. It was four cats. total was nine hundred dollars. Cars throwing check engine light. Someone's like could be the cats. And i was like i fucking hope doesn't move the you know. They're built into the manifold in my car. Right the whole thing right. Yeah so i mean it was definitely. It's a sad thing to see that. That's that's a sad thing to see when someone discovers that their cat has been still out and it was so loud. Forget open headers srb and it was like you know it. It wasn't like the it wasn't a dangerous neighborhood. It's like a. It's like a more rural neighbourhood like there's like horse farms up there and like agriculture workers and stuff like that it's not like like the urban like skid running or city at all right. Thank you get off the freeway. There's some apartment complexes which probably support the local businesses and then just horse farm agriculture. Yeah that's it. Yeah so. I mean it's it's man it was it's like i don't want to say like like you. Just not the thing that kind of thing you think about you know you park your car outside your fucking house. And then there's like someone in the middle of the night is sawed part of your car off plus telling you my girlfriend. Stepdad was On a business trip with a rental car last year parked at a hotel by the airport and he walked outside cars on jackson on cinderblocks. And they take. The cat calls hurts. He's like i don't know about this Your car is here. I'm taking a cab and the keys are at the front desk much by you. See that story of circling twitter like over the weekend. About the avis customer. Who repoed is car. In the middle of a rental holy shit that's about eating mistaken like they meant to repo a different car and some numbers got mixed up and they got this one. I mean maybe i really. I read the whole thread. It's fascinating the he did. Good detective work during it out. But what's weird is. If they were trying to repeal a different car you'd think once they realized what had happened manager rep would call. I'm so very sorry because that's customer service works but they just like ghost ghost him window and phone numbers that go to dead end lines and then they build him for the days that he hadn't returned the car even though he knew that it was back on their lot. Yeah i mean it was really weird. i re tweeted it. I don't know if i think you did. Twitter feeds to read it. It's sixteen pages and it's really strange. A couple of the blogs and stuff like i think gillette mix it up and some other some other place i saw it like. I saw it on some mainstream on apple news. Good by the way i look. I have apple. I have an iphone. So i have apple news right and i i have in my you know in my apple iphone web browser other news and media outlets that i like to go specifically but i have a somewhat curated. You know feed in my apple news reader right. it's just kuntar's tosh news. I but i'm so annoyed. The shit that i see on the the benefit of the doubt that elon. Musk and tesla. Get on the main stream apple news sites whether it's newsweek or business insider and even if it's even if it's shit like forbes where it's like bullshit blogger. Contributors that have no oversight can just hit publish for fifteen bucks oppose like it makes it into that feet. And that's that's where a lot of mainstream people are getting You know not. Everyone is going to find. Great jason torchinsky piece or a great neater meyer or alex roy piece that has actual you know. God forbid a missy. Cummings article or something like that which she was cited in a recent In a recent piece that was accurately incredibly critical. Because i saw in the chat. Someone's like us mad about the. But that's kind of what i was getting at because the body is so obviously bullshit right and for a whole bunch of reasons. There's a lot of there was a lot of great pieces explaining why it was such bullshit right but the mainstream media uncritically own developing It'll be out next year. And they even went so far as to say it'll be.

Passenger Charged With Groping, Punching Flight Attendants
"The Miami Dade Police report, 22 year old Maxwell Berry, now charged with three counts of battery where his behavior on the Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami Saturday. Police say Barry had been drinking, allegedly assaulted three flight attendants groped to female and punched a male attendant. You know what? Why do they have to mention he was drinking? Like, what does that have to do with it? I've been drinking on a plane. I didn't do that. Why? Why should drinking. Take the hit right. If you're smoking weed. They wouldn't say that. If he was on Coke. They wouldn't say he's all coked up. But for some reason Alcohol always takes the shot. Don't you think? That's the reason why he was acting the way he but But But if he was on Coke, they wouldn't say he was all coked up if they knew that to be true, Yes, they were, but they don't or or you know, he would. They wouldn't say. Well, you know, he was spotted in his, uh, in his Subaru taking large bomb loads before the flight. You never hear that. I never heard. It's always alcohol. It takes the hit alcohol limit on the yes and cigarettes. You know, it's cigarette smokers. The last people everyone can make fun of night cigarette smokers. Right, like the last people that you can discriminate against all the time, and they always take it in the shorts, saying here swinging at the man trying to restrain him. He started to get aggressive and then basically attack the men play out in there, Are you The flight attendants desperate to get very under control, stretching tape across his body and around the seat kind of a busy flight, right. I'm usually just sitting there on my iPad playing a game or something, And then these guys, everyone's punching each other. They're duct taping each other kind of an interesting flight. Alfredo Rivera, who shot this video says the crew did the best they could to protect the other passengers. They have to restrain him because He was a danger for other passengers or insane but the airline under fire for its handling of the situation, the airline got down on the flight attendants suspended all of them. "Lot of people don't i think understand. Just what it takes to get a pilot's license in rightfully so because you you can get your pilot's license for a single engine propeller aircraft aircraft. It's not terribly difficult but now what happens if it gets cloudy out. You need to be instrument certified. Because if you can't see in your aircraft was not only three miles. I believe not not only far right. Not only is it just kind of spooky. Because he can't see it's completely disorienting. I've been in that situation a couple times. Thankfully i mean. I was just along for the ride. I remember a one point. We were actually flying from western michigan. To the north of my friend wasn't iof are certified yet we had we had minimums leaving kalamazoo and it was clear up north so the plan was we'll stick with minimums will fly over to the lakeshore to lake michigan. We can stay low and follow the lakeshore and be sure. We're safe from power lines and everything along the lakeshore until we get up where it's clearer so we book it over to the lakeshore and we were still at minimums and we just started ahead out over to the lake and there was a moment for probably about ten seconds before we made our right turn to follow the lakeshore the horizon and the lake completely blended so all we can see out in front of us is a single shade of light gray and once. That happens vertigo. I mean it was legit. We i mean we were. We didn't panic but it was just. It was a completely foreign scary feeling not being able to orient ourselves visually all of a sudden. We couldn't tell our we diving are reclining. So you've got to look down and you've got to trust the instruments right and that's why when they're training you in. Afrotc's estimate flight rules. They basically put you in a hood a hood literally all you can see are the instruments. And that's what you are flying by and that's what you're flying by trust that and that's what the training is is that you are just in this hood and you have to trust in but it is as you're saying. It is a very vertigo. Inducing experience to look out and not be able to tell whether you're going up and going or going down and just simply have to trust instruments and if you think it's a little spooky say getting caught out in a hard rainstorm while you're driving at night or caught in fog add a third dimension to that and not having any sort of of reference you can't feel the road beneath you because there is nothing beneath you and if you if you just get a little bit of an updraft downdraft all of sudden you're gonna feel yourself sinking or climbing and without visual reference. You need to. You need to go through some serious training just to fly in various weather conditions right. That's we're not even talking about more complicated aircraft with bigger engines with retractable landing gear with engines. That's the thing twin engines. Yeah you get private. You can fly one engine. You can fly a cessna or mao piper. Maybe or something like that. But if you wanna fly to engines. That's another certification. Imagine imagine having your driver's license and you can go and you can drive a civic honda civic. There you go you can drive a honda civic but if you want to upgrade to a chevy suburban all you have to go and get additional licensing for that you have to go get additional training for that. Yeah it's that's why you never gonna see everyday flying cars and and to the to the credit of some of these automakers. I'm gonna share another thing here. This is this is from saudi back from twenty eighteen. I haven't heard the latest from saudi on this. There's this whole idea of kind of personal mobility and autonomy right. You're not going to have to worry about getting your pilot's license because the machine is going to be doing the flying for you. Carl can't even fly erc. Cars can even try dr yet dimensions. A lot of a lot of people will point to aircraft and say well aircraft have autopilot mode. Yeah but you're also not operating aircraft within ten feet of other aircraft. You should never ever be that close and oh by the way. Yeah autopilot works. Autopilot will stabilize the aircraft. It'll it'll put you on a specific course heading it'll keep you wings level. It'll keep your speed set but you still need a pilot in there to turn the dials to hit the buttons to tell the aircraft. Okay we need to turn to two seven zero. Two hundred seventy degrees west. We need to tell the aircraft to descend at five hundred feet per minute. You still need to have a person in there plugging and information. The aircraft isn't making that decision automatically now. I think some the later ones. There is a little bit of that in there. But when you say autopilot it's not really just push button and the plane just doesn't have you still have to have somebody Controlling things in there. Now this this audi concept this. I actually find this interesting because it's a car. It's a small electric autonomous car. That can drive people around but then it connects to basically a large copter. Can they can pick it up and fly around to different places. So i mean it's it's not really a flying taxi. It's a it's a car that can be loaded onto an airplane or in this case a rotor aircraft and delivered somewhere else in the city and the idea is everything is autonomous. I have not idea. I wonder about a lot. There's a lot of discussion these days about green vehicles or you know. Saving energy and lifting one car and one person lifting that into the air is an immense amount of energy unlike planes just a normal plane drinks a ton of fuel and so i just wonder about how sustainable an idea like that really is well i. The reason we are in a boeing. Seven seventy seven or whatever with a ton of people is because it's far more efficient to put three hundred people on an aircraft than to put one hundred aircraft. You're absolutely right there. And i think we kind of answered the question on that automatically because is any this being implemented yet has anything that we've talked about here with the hyundai with audi and any of that that automated personal mobility flying stuff has any that been implemented. No no because you're going to run into a complete brick wall of regulations. We've been talking about how hard it is to fly. We haven't even talked about the various regulations that are in place to make sure aircraft. Don't crash into one another both when they're on the ground and in the sky people look up. There's all kinds of room. You'd be surprised how quickly things can get crowded in the sky with all the aircraft that are flying around. And you don't have yellow markings on roads. You don't have signs telling you where to go. You have to have some direction you have to have your air traffic controllers that are monitoring the situation. Where if you are flying at ten thousand feet and you want to go down to eight thousand feet you don't you can't necessarily see fifty miles away. What might be coming the other direction at eight thousand feet. You go down to eight thousand feet especially if there's some clouds in the area. Yeah it can get crowded in a hurry. So i mean. We didn't even touch on all the regulations. I mean gosh. When i was when i was taking my private pilot ground school. That was actually back when they were still like like arcos and turces wasn't airport service areas and everything has changed now as it's class one class to various classes of airspace where you have altitude restrictions and god help you if you happen to fly into a military operations area flying my my my nice flying car and all of a sudden. F16 showed up out.

"If you win a ridler award at autodromo you're you're you're you're instantly a superstar in the builder world so here. We are in south dakota almost to wyoming in february and i'm walking around the civic center in rapid city south dakota looking at these phenomenally built custom cars and we're talking. Everything from some of the local drifters with just crazy modified hyundai's to some of these former ridler award winners and i. I never would have expected that in. This is like seventy thousand people. That's not a small town but certainly a small city but once you get outside of town there's nothing there's nothing but fields so yeah man. Thanks for putting that common in there and reminding us big or small car. Shows are amazing. You will always be surprised when you go to a car. Show get out to them. If you have something even moderately cool or doesn't even have to be cooled something that you really proud of. Join up get into the car show. So odds are you're gonna find somebody that is into the same thing you are into and that makes it all worth it so while you were talking about that. I went through my old photos. And i found the delorean with the bike racks. Me that exists gotta see. You're watching on youtube right now to go to you one pile. Lorient look on the back on the rear deck. He's got a bike mounted on there. I don't know man. I think the bike is disguising the mr fusion to be honest it could be. That is awesome. I i never would have expected to see that. I've never seen another one like that. Who throws a bike. Rack on their delorean. Just yeah hey. I wanna go out to the trails. Let's let's not take. The truck was stick the delorean man. So i'm all. I'm all about that very cool. Well there's another reason. You should follow us on youtube to see some of the crazy stuff. We talking about speaking of crazy okay. I what i need to take a drink before we go any further here so this is a debate. It's what i have. This is so. I'm trying to think how to do this. So you and i have had a series on this show called. What were they thinking and we. It's something we revisit. Every once in a while and unfortunately a lot of cases in this it is going to be an example. What were we thinking because we are guilty of this as well and we really probably change our behavior in the future. And what i'm talking about with. This is the term flying car. So when i was in college i took a few linguistics courses because i had to for my german major. And so there's this idea of prescriptive versus descriptive. Language prescriptive language or linguistics is like a word. Hasta mean this specific thing. You are prescribing meaning to it. Descriptive is much more kind of ad hoc that as things evolve the word kind of describes what it is but to me a flying car has a very specific meaning that being it is a car i e a thing on the ground that you can drive that can also fly somehow the past its recent five to seven years. The definition of that word has changed. And we're seeing flying car being related to things that to me are not flying cars. Their aircraft in many cases there rotorcraft. And that's fine but we can't keep calling them flying cars. Let me let me bring up an image to kind of talk to kind of explain this a little bit here please. it was i think. Back in twenty twenty hyundai unveiled something that they're calling their flying taxi. And i mean it's just a concept but i'm going gonna share this image here right now for everybody. Oh wait no. I'm sorry. oh my gosh. that's a. That's a bell. V twenty two osprey tilt rotor attack aircraft. that's used by numerous armed forces including the united states marines on the united states army. I apologize folks. That's you're you're not on no-one nope bruce. That's also sorry. That's also the bell boeing. V twenty two osprey tilt rotor aircraft. Honestly i mean. I can see why people make the mistake. I can see why people make the mistake in. Possibly i can see where hyundai got their inspiration from and to be fair. We should show the. Oh you've got up. I've got it right here. This is this. Is their air taxi their concept which i mean. I hate to break into your hyundai. But you're your little late on this one. That's not a flying car are in any sense. That's not a car. That's a tilt rotor aircraft and and i mean propellers have been driving air vehicles for over one hundred years so it's not really a new concept and this was just what kind of hyundai's thinking this is what they're airport. They going to look like. And you can see one taking off here. You can see some in the background and the ideas that it is supposed to be for short flight. I e what helicopters do now come like pick you up and then take you to the airport or take you to a desolate lodging nearby. Hold on is. I see where they're going with this. Imagine if this concept could be refined especially in in crowded cities where these these aircraft if you will sorry. These flying cars could actually will say land on rooftops chur. Yeah how i'm like. Oh my gosh think of the application for hospitals instead of ambulances on the road. They can have a little pad. Hear me out here. I mean this is a this is a moneymaker they could have a little pad with one of these vehicles that can land directly at the hospital to bring in patients that are in critical. Need of care it. That's that's why have they thought of that yet. I can't believe no but wait a minute. Away okay no. I'm wrong on that. Everybody i apologize. That's actually been around for decades and decades and decades so ho- we're not breaking any new ground there bruce sarcasm aside here mr. Bruce is spoken very eloquently. I'm just going to say get over your damn flying cars already. Because they're bloody stupid there. It's it's it's not gonna happen. It's never gonna happen if the and hear me out. Never it will never happen. Definition notwithstanding have to explain why. And you and i are both to be clear. Neither you or i have pilots licenses however most had one. How close did you get i got. I was eight hours in time. I finished finished ground school. That was back in high school. I finished ground school. And i was eight hours into flight. Time just shy of my first solo in a cessna. One fifty and i was in high school and i had one instance where i was a little nauseous in the plane and i i use. It has an excuse to say. Oh i just can't afford it anymore. And i feel bad i should have stuck with it. I will get my pilot's license one of these days but yeah never gonna happen. Why go ahead. Bruce tell us why so the very simple reason. Is that if something happens to you and your car on the ground you can pullover. Even if we're talking about autonomous vehicles like we talk about something happening. A lot of even current autonomous vehicles are smart enough that if something inexplicable goes wrong that they detect that you are incapacitated. Somehow if there's some mechanical fault with some of the sensors or something like that they can pull over to the side of the road and stop if you stop flying you fall to the.

I would say yeah. Just with this teaser. Being able to see just just the top of the car. I mean it kind of looks a lot like the current. Wrx doesn't it. It's not it's it's not meaningfully different in any obvious way from wealthy here. Of course. I mean the teaser. We're not seeing the entire car. We're only just just just the top half really from the beltline up. We're not seeing the grill. We're not seeing of the doors when i've seen the wheels but this is this is this is telling because usually once the teaser campaign starts for new vehicle. It's a matter of weeks usually at most weeks at most unless unless you're toyota in which case the super for like a year and a half or your teasing tundra for along but it's still somebody leaks and then they just give right but no i mean this means. We're probably going to see the next generation. All new subaru. Wrx in a matter of weeks by the end of summer summer. I would say by september at the latest. I would and of course. And i mean we've seen spy photos and actually we haven't seen a lot of spy photos we've seen some bull we've seen up until up until now and the rumor mill has been telling us that it's going to have the two hundred sixty horsepower. Engine what is it that bruce. The you're the subaru guy. That is the f. a. Twenty four twenty four two point four liter turbo so the f. series of engines came out with the assent. It was i in that so subaru for literally decades for wow. It might be close to thirty years. Had their e. series of engines people probably know the ej and things like that and with the assent. They finally came out with a new engine. Family called the f. e. s. You know make sense so The faa twenty four so two point four liter turbocharged in the ascent the legacy the outback. It makes two hundred sixty horsepower. The scuttle butt is in the wrx probably make a little bit more. I wouldn't be three hundred. Wouldn't shock me like that. Seems totally reasonable. And then the the big rumor is is that the sti is going to get a high output version. That's gonna push it to four hundred now to four hundred horsepower. From two point four liters. That's a that's high strung. I'll be curious to see if that rumor proves to be true. But that's what we're hearing right now. At least it is. It is a lot and it would be fantastic. It would be quite a. It would be a lot of power in some in the size of wrx for a youtube watchers. We are looking at one of the cy shots. We have right now and you can see even from the spy. Shot a whole hell of a lot like the current. Wrx do really does. We're not going to get a hatchback again. we're not gonna get you know. Boxy kind of fist like styling that we got from the early ones. It just looks like a wrx. The current wrx is. And you know. Pay props to subaru for keeping it going for. I mean for for decades. There was the wrx versus yvo having the mitsubishi israeli fighter. They had a good battle going. I think they kept each other fairly honest and it kept each other on their game. And i know bruce with with the yvo gone. I mean at least at least there's a new generation for the. Wrx do you do you think. Do you think subaru's may be losing their way a little bit with the wrx. They're not being quite as aggressive. Maybe on the style. I mean it sounds like it could be pretty aggressive on the power if if the wrx does step up to three hundred. I mean that's i mean that's sti power right. I mean you're certainly expecting to sixty because that's what every other applications engine makes but kind of the but is a little bit more three hundred thousand shocking but yeah it's you know ever since that kind of so. It's worth noting. That subaru hasn't competed in the world rally championship for quite a few years. Now i think it's oh six. Oh seven something like that. They pulled out and so with not really having a reason to create a competition version also not having the yvo to compete with also ford kind of giving up on the focus. Rs and things like that. They don't really have that much reason to try as hard as they used to. And you know. I'm a subaru owner. I like subaru's but that's the wrx is kind of a rough spot at the moment. And yeah it it. It feels like you know if we had an ego out there if we had a focus. Rs out there. If you know by some wish launcher came back and made an integral rally delta. You know something like that like they would have a reason to really like make this a super hardcore performance car and none of those vehicles exists so they can kinda. They don't have to try that art. I mean that's a good point. Who is subaru's competition right now with the wrx. I mean you can still get hot. Focus in other parts of the world that just not here in the united states right so i i mean we. I guess we have to think a little bit more globally. But yeah end may like there's not a good straight up competitor. Unless i'm missing one. We probably are. We probably are but well the you know the gr yeras. I mean not available in the united states. But yeah you're right. I mean it's a lot smaller. But i mean i would see somebody going for the wrx maybe choosing that as well sure if there's gr corolla in the us that's exactly. There's the ongoing rumor that toyota couldn't get us the gre irs. That they're gonna give us a gr corolla and if that's true then yeah that's going to be a competitor but the issue there then you have to consider that. Toyota owns twenty five percent of subaru. And do they want to compete against themselves. Like i don't know what that relationship is like that. Do they wanna have two vehicles that. Are you know take stealing sales from each other. So yeah well. The near future here for subaru is going to be very interesting. I love rally. I've always been a fan. I remember going to my first stage rally in the united states here back in two thousand or two thousand one. It was back just before you could actually get a wrx or ibo in the states so going out and doing some of these three two and it was the first year that wrx. Oh two was the first year for the wrecks in the in the state so going out to the stage rallying seeing some of these cars that had been imported. I was just an avid. And i still i'll. I'll still have.

How The New Toyota 86 Compares To The Old One
"So last week. We kind of we knew this announcement from toyota and subaru was coming. We didn't know what it was and we could have spent a segment talking about. What could it be. We you know we kind of we knew. In all likelihood it was going to be the new eighty six but we didn't know for sure because there was all sorts of other stuff that it could be and so we you know we through abouts about cars and crossovers and stuff like that and it turns out it was the new eighty six and to be fair For all the listeners who tuned in last week by the way you really tuned in last week we had some good numbers last week. So we appreciate you coming along with us. We kinda didn't think i was gonna be the eighty six. If we were honest. I mean there was there was a lot of. There's a lot of evidence is okay. Yeah it's probably the eighty six. But i mean there's a lot of doubt so it in. They're like why. Why subaru is there with toyota. Toyota's launching their version of the subaru b. r. z. And that's actually kind of what happened. Subaru was there with toyota. Until you oughta launched its. Gr eighty six weird. Because to wasn't there when subaru launched the which was what always kind of gave us pause that you know maybe sums up maybe not but anyway here it is As you can tell it looks a whole lot like the new biard z. That's on the way we don't yet know win. The new eighty six is coming to the. Us we don't have like pricing data and stuff like that but otherwise it they're basically the same vehicle you can tell there's a slightly different front facial the lightly different other guerrillas more here. I've got a good side by side image because of all things toyota just released this like. This isn't us making it. They just released side by side. Images of both concede the front. The toyota has the more squarish rectangular from asia. Whereas it's more of a trapezoid on the subaru the subarus Intakes the coroner's lot. More angular there a little bit more curvy on the subaru. like you can see their differences. But they're not big differences. It's almost like a two different body kits vehicles. It's not anything you're going to write home about

What Is Tail Risk?
"Last week. The proven i got stuck in a rare snow and ice storm that hit texas where millions were without power and unable to heat their homes. We spent saturday night in el paso. Texas we saw there was going to be a winter storm between el paso and san antonio where we were heading where we were dropping off. My son and daughter in law's subaru that they had repaired back in tucson where we spend the winters we debated whether we should stay in el paso or not maybe way today but i thought i've driven in the snow a lot. It's a subaru. It has new tires. We should be just fine and indeed the car at least for the first day perform quite well. It was an absolute mess. There were so many wrecks at one point. There was a chinese woman in the middle of the highway waving us down. We thought it was another wreck. Turns turns out. She and her husband had got stranded on the other side of the expressway and needed a ride back to the next town where they had a hotel. It took us eight hours of driving. And we realized we wouldn't be able to reach san antonio. I rather son book too so hotel in oso texas because our cell phones weren't working right. The next morning the car was dead we put in a battery and then we started driving again. We didn't make it far. We got stuck at a rest. Stop our cell. Phones didn't work. It was fifteen degrees. I found found somebody that call the police for us rescue us but before the police arrived the car started against so we thought well at least try to get to the next exit and maybe we could get a hotel. The car stalled again. We posted about a half a mile off the highway and ended up stranded on the side of the road in sonora texas. It's not a very big town. There's no taxis there's no uber. We presume the problem was the alternator was out. We got a hold of my son who wanted to come and install a new one so we had to get back about thirty eight miles to sona texas where we had a hotel room. I least had the presence of mind to book another nights room at the hotel just in case something came up. We couldn't get back. I called the police. They said they couldn't help. They didn't have the resources that operator said call tow truck. Why did they weren't going to pick us up. They only tow cars. Aaa doesn't do it. Either they only arrange for toes reaced needed a ride back to her hotel. Was i call the auto parts store where i had paid a couple of guys to put the battery in. They didn't want to come pick us up. I had brett check. If we had any plus members in the area the closest one was in kerrville too. Far away i called our web developers in houston. Do they know anybody. In sonora turn their neighbor had family that live there but he was eighty and they couldn't get a hold of him on the phone. Finally brat got in touch with a local leader from the church of jesus christ of latter day saints that live an hour and a half away and it turns out he knew a couple in zona who said they were willing to come and get us complete strangers. They both worked for the school district. The husband and wife and they came. We were on the side of the road about two hours and it was cold the next day. His father in law came. They picked us up. And we made it san antonio barely because we had the head any gasoline because they're filling stations were closed or out of gas because of power. It was extremely rare event. The coldest that has been in texas since nineteen eighty nine. If we look at the weather in san antonio in a typical year it varies between forty. Three degrees in ninety six degrees. it rarely falls below. Freezing plotted graph. Temperatures in texas. Most of the observations would be in the middle around seventy degrees. This is a bell curve. A normal distribution fifteen degrees fahrenheit is where we were to the far left of this distribution and that far left is the tail tail events are extreme outcomes or very rare observations. Because they're in the tail on the ends of the distribution there called talibans tail. Risk is the personal harm. That's these extreme events can cause. How does it impact us. In the worst case we could be ruined. We could die or we could go bankrupt. We could run out of money. This weather event was hey tail event. It was an extreme of it. It was rare now. Pearl and i were in a. I wouldn't call it a dangerous situation. Certainly very uncomfortable. I have not been that stranded in many years. It took a while to find help. I've you were kind of at wit's end as investors we can control the amount of tail risk that we take we can protect against by buying insurance. We can self insure in have enough buffer to survive extreme risk or we can ensure others and sell tail risk protection before we continue. A Global Shortage In Computer Chips Hits Auto Industry
"The global auto chip shortage has intensified. Danny's Pellegrini a. Bloomberg has his and focus report, just this pandemic production was starting to get back to normal for carmakers now. The chips are down for the auto industry, and the computer chip shortage is slowing their assembly lines. It's manufacturers aren't able to get these ships and literally does stop the production. Tom Doll is CEO of Subaru America. You can't produce these vehicles. And then insert the chip later. The chip has to be inserted into the device before it gets put into the vehicles. GM is idling production of some small and crossover SUVs and Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen and others have also cut production because of the shortage, a shortage caused in part by a jump in demand for phones. PCs game consoles, another Consumer Electron IX. During pandemic lockdowns, all things that doll says could be bad news for car buyers and other consumers down the road somehow find another source for your chip supply. It could be increases in chip
Ford's New Rocket League Sponsorship is Perfect
"Besides the racing games which are a natural fit for car brands. There's one sport that made such a natural Fit For A brand sponsorship. I can't believe it took so long. It took it League yesterday Ford announced they're putting the Ford F-150 into the game. It's the first time a consumer-facing vehicle has been added to the game. So consumer-facing a key part of that. What does that mean rocket league has brought in a ton of different cars from media Universe has many of which are tied to actual Brands. You know, the Batmobile doesn't have a brand behind in the Dodge Charger is in game. So is Nissan's are thirty-four and so it's a Jeep, but the first two of those cars were tied to Fast and Furious DLC pack and they're based on old school cars for the charger it wage. 1968 and 1970 and the Nissan was based on the car from 1999 used by Brian O'Connor. The jeep was from Jurassic Park. So it's not like you can just buy these cars at a lot down. There was one other car that wasn't tied to a media franchise in rocket League's history. And that car is the McLaren starting at two hundred grand though. The McLaren is not a consumer car because it's a Subaru targeted at high-end customers. I'd wager to say maybe five people who play rocket League can afford a McLaren. Maybe that's generous Ford's F-150 is clearly different. The Ford F-series is the best selling Truck Series in North America nearly a million truck sold in 2019 when it comes to marketing you Market a Ford F series truck a lot differently than a new market a McLaren which is why it's fair to say. This is the first consumer-facing car that's existed in rocket League. What I think is really cool about the sponsorship. It says made up of a bunch of different parts first off the car inches the game great start it'll be available for purchase from February 22nd to the 28th. Then forward will also be a sponge for the upcoming rlcs winter major at the end of February that we taking over the in-game Billboards, which I still believe are a massive white space for sponsors Ford is also releasing a new ad around this partnership with the coolest part of that ad is that will be voiced by Bryan Cranston, you know the star of Breaking Bad also the dad from Malcolm in the Middle. Shout out to help crested also did for Superbowl at this year just to give you an idea about how much Ford is investing in the sponsorship and there's a final piece of a too which is also really cool Ford is hosting a freestyle competition people unfamiliar with rocket League freestyling is when you send your car turning like crazy to overcomplicate a goal in search of a sick clip, it's really popular on YouTube. It's doing tricks like flip resets double Taps Turtles and any other way to make a gold look really cool for it'll be inviting 8 freestyle rap. Our competition and the winner will receive an actual Ford F-150. Those are the kinds of small details that really make a brand sponsorship in Esports stand out to me. It shows an underscore the audience and the content that works with this audience as well. I really think this is the car sponsorship the rocket league has been raped for four years with the increased Esports investment from Brands like Toyota Honda BMW Mercedes and plenty more. I really can't believe it took this long, but good on Ford for finally making it
Chip Shortage Hits GM, Leads to Production Cuts
"Get back to Tom Doll. He's president CEO over its Subaru of America still with us on the phone from Subaru headquarters in Camden, New Jersey. So, Tom, let me ask you. I'm sure you've been asked about it many times. And I was I did watch earlier when you were joining our Bloomberg TV colleagues this GM story today, saying that they have some chip shortages and then it was hurting it. You guys you've been doing okay? So far we have been yes, it is going to affect us at some point along the way, but we know that through the first quarter of the year March, it's not going to impact us all that much. Now we're still waiting to get Information from our suppliers about how it might affect us as we get out into April and may in particular But we're hopeful that the impact isn't going to be that much. What's going on. It's a good question. You would think that there'd be enough supply, given the fact that he's like trying devices inside G devices that people are saying is the cause of the shortage of people who are purchasing these things well before the pandemic started. And then coming out of the production was actually for us was very strong and we could get really all the chips we wanted through the period until probably early part of December, and that's when we first started to hear about this potential for a chip shortage. So I know they're working with our suppliers all over the world to try to figure out Where we can source additional chips and I'll be honest with you. I mean, it seems to us anyway, The situation seems to be getting better A supposed to worse, but I can't speak for all of the other manufacturers. I can only kind of speak from us, right? Right. I do have one question though. I'm curious. Are you concerned or could it lead to higher prices down the road, Potentially Specially. There are shortages. I mean, it could be depending upon what the chip manufacturers do with their pricing. We all have pricing contracts with the chip suppliers. But in a situation like we're in, and if you've gotto somehow find another source for your chip supply, there could be increases and chip prices, But we're not at this point forecasting any Significant increase in in prices as a result of the chip shortage well, and it's interesting to you know, we've been talking a lot about kind of the chip industry. I feel like Tom over the last year. I mean, I look at my car. It's so much a piece of technology in the amount of, you know, technology that's in it running in. And as you move towards, you know, evey is it becomes I feel like even more So, um Do we need to as a world as a country kind of look at our chip supply chains more closely, and maybe even as governments being much more active in terms of those businesses and making sure that everybody and anybody who needs them has access to them. They're they're clearly a vital aspect of our vehicle production. There's no question about it because they're in so many different components there in our head units there in our engine control modules. We're in a lot of the advanced safety equipment that we provide. So I do believe that it is something that governments need to look into that. Make sure that there's a secure supply of these chips of that manufacturers such as ourselves, don't get caught in a situation where you can't supply an adequate number of these chips that would meet supply on meet demand, because You know if it's manufacturers aren't able to get these ships and literally does stop the production because you can't produce these vehicles and then insert the chip later, the chip has to be inserted into the device before it gets put into the vehicle. So it really is something that you know, can really throw a wrench into the whole production system. So where it is something I think it needs to be examined and looked into.
Dealing With Sensory Processing Issues with Laura Benanti
"How is managing a with your daughter. You know it's really interesting so right. Before we went into quarantine she actually Was diagnosed with sensory processing issues. So that was crazy. Ms it was like we were supposed to start occupational therapy a few times a week and instead they were like you're the teacher and the Let's go so that was a challenge but we left new york city and went and stayed with my parents new jersey in the house. I grew up in a full nine months. But my dad my stepfather. But i call that cheese psychotherapists in a holistic health counselor so that was kinda outweighs al. Yeah and then my mom's voice teacher in it's just like my daughter's obsessed with them so weirdly. She had this beautiful lake villa. Like italian experience. Living with your grandparents such. It's not in our american culture and the way it is so many other cultures and so she got to have this beautiful experience with them. And i got to work because my parents took on like four hour shifts each day like my mom four hours. My dad each four hours husband wear which was. Yeah it really was. It really was audible and my daughter's thrived in a way that i am just so grateful for and we ended up actually moving out of new york city because she seems to be doing so much better with more room and more space with being able to go outside. It's interesting because occupational therapists said to us Has happened if you think of her brain as a bank is. She wakes up with one hundred dollars in the bank. A costs for ninety nine dollars to take the subway will mom. She's got a dollar left the rest of the day and that was such a perfect way to put. It made it so manageable for me to understand like she's just not in a place where that's healthy environment for people who are listening on. What a different things. That you've learned That you feel other than that. Very great big piece of advice as a great way to think about it. What are the things that you've learned work well for her. So there's a book called beyond behaviors because Sensory parents really for me. Based i'll say it's challenging for me to understand the difference between behavioral moment and a sensory She's in a sensory overload or behavior might might not great but she literally cannot help. It is not a thing where meeting on account to three. And then you're gonna stop. It's it's not something that i kept logical. It's not a it's not logical. That's the perfect word So for me distilling. That has been really helpful in. That book was helpful for me with that. Also just sensory play so lake Shaving cream in the bath. Tub kinetic sand touching different textures. We play a game where i've put her on the bed Ocean and i like swish her fourth inside langat and it gives her sort of cozy dark movements and she really loves that. We noticed that mccarthy fight or flight would be a little bit off. She'll be tantrum ing because she wouldn't go through the flight. Art shoot only. Get to fight so we learned circuit being like okay. Let's play hide and seek. When she started to tantrum. It would break her out for us. We discover that refined sugar is really challenging for her. We remove that from her diet and and that has been like incredibly hopeful. Gino subaru lates in the morning is not great for her zoom. Can't handle it So really just understanding what works for your own particular child then needing them where they're at
Scientists search for ways to lock more carbon in the soil
"Plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow and store it in their roots stems and leaves but when plans decompose much of that carbon returns to the atmosphere joanne. Corey is a plant biologist and geneticist at the salk institute for biological studies. Her team is working to develop new plant varieties. That can lock more carbon in the soil long term. She says these new plants need to have more and deeper roots. In order to bury the carbon down deep where there are fewer microorganisms that can decompose the plant and made all the company go back up in the atmosphere correy says the ideal plants will also have high concentrations of a molecule called subaru which is found in cork it holds a lot of carbon and breaks down very slowly. The project is in its early stages right now trying to understand what those traits really mean in terms of jeans with that information. Researchers can selectively breed those traits or engineer them into widely grown plants such as corn and wheat. These owners of crop plants. Because you really need a lot of land you do. This corey hopes that in ten years. These climate-friendly crops will be growing in farm fields around the globe. Climate connections is produced by the center for environmental communication
