"Episodes, very amusing. Okay. What was it again, silly string? Yeah. I can't believe I didn't take silly string seriously. Short stuff, the burner street hoax, chuck's daughter's love of the songs, girls just want to have fun. And her brief only girls want to have fun and boys do not. That's still ongoing, by the way. Is it really? Yeah. September 6th about Mallory and Mount Everest. Oh, not a tangent, but chuck casley mentioned the rope trauma. Josh Bros pat bush passed it without asking what happened to chuck's dismay. At that point, chuck refused, chuck, he should say, became a big baby. And refused to tell the story of what happened, despite Josh asking repeatedly, chuck said it'll take it to his grave. Classic SYS came on. I had a license place work, chuck's incredulity, sorry. The Josh didn't know what serif about sans serif. He should say chuck was a big jerk about the fact that Josh didn't know that. That was the one you apologized about later, right? I did. I felt bad about that. Don't feel bad. No one ever wants to be told. What you know? I mean, he just made me feel bad all over again. And then finally, from just recently in November 30th, on goosebumps, whether all or just some of the members of the band Boston went to school at MIT. Did we ever figure that out? They definitely did not, but I didn't look it up. I just knew that. Oh, well, that was very nice of you to just gently walk past it later on. Thanks, Ian Bauer's, once again, this is a lot of fun. We'll read them again next year.

The Fed Is Scared of Stock Market Animal Spirits
"Today we are going into the macro realm because remember, before there was the wrecking ball of Luna and then three AC and then Sam and now maybe Barry? There was the macro environment and the fed just tanking all risk assets. In fact, this week we had something of an anniversary. Yesterday we got the fed meeting minutes from December and the meeting minutes are kind of a chance for the Federal Reserve to give extra nuggets of information to drive markets in the direction they want. It's not an accident that they're released weeks after the actual FOMC meeting. They're used as yet another tool of self fulfilling prophecy. So if the fed thinks the markets didn't get the message they were trying to send well enough or got it too well, they can recalibrate. This happened in dramatic fashion in January of last year in 2022. In December 2020 one, the fed confirmed that their FOMC meeting, what everyone anticipated, that rate hikes were coming in 2022. In fact, that confirmation drove markets higher as pretty much everyone in the market thought that the fed had waited too long to hike rates at that point. What markets didn't anticipate was that in addition to rate hikes, the Federal Reserve actually anticipated starting to reduce the size of the balance sheet in 2022 as well. In other words, a shift from quantitative easing to quantitative tightening. This was surprising because after the fed's last period of QE, it took years to actually start to move to balance sheet normalization and eventually reduction. So to do it in just months after rate hikes began would be a dramatic shift. Here's how macro analysts and trader Alex Krueger put it back then. This is excerpted from a thread that he published on January 9th, 2022, almost exactly a year ago. There has been a very fundamental shift at the Federal Reserve. The fed has flipped decidedly hawkish. Their main worry is not employment. It is inflation. And to fight inflation, the fed has to increase interest rates. It all started with Powell's inflation no longer transitory comment of November 30th. And culminated with the FOMC minutes released on Wednesday, where fed officials discussed faster balance sheet normalization.

Litecoin LTC was among the few bright spots for the crypto market which had to endure the negative effects of the collapse of the FTX exchange platform. In the midst of one of the worst implosions that the space has ever witnessed, LTC momentarily became vulnerable, plummeting all the way down to 49.58. But the cryptocurrency stood its ground, though, while the likes of Bitcoin and Ethereum were sent crashing to various monthly lows and eventually commenced its own rally to close November on a high note. As a result, litecoin exited last month with an index price of 76.52 and registered an impressive jump of 24 within a 30 day period. In addition, during the same time, litecoin had a 28 market value to realized value mvr V ratio. "I think I asked if these storms are coming earlier and getting stronger. Andrew was back in the very early nineties, and at the time there was a strong El Nino that was in effect. So what happens during an El Nino year for the Atlantic Sea surface temperatures are very minimal and wind share values begin. With Andrew. That year was particularly cool in all of the Atlantic, so a lot of people became what I like to call hurricane amnesia that they don't recognize that you're still vulnerable. Even if the hurricane season isn't starting until late August that significance. A lot of people were caught off guard with Andrew. And plus it evolved and grew so rapidly. And we can get into this for hours. But there were a lot of forecast that we're wrong, saying that it would turn before it would hit the Florida coastline. But now let's go all the way to where we are now seven consecutive years, and it's including this year that we have seen an early start to the hurricane season. Hurricane season generally runs from Jean first all the way to November 30th because during this time period these are the prime conditions form sea surface temperatures, minimal vertical wind share. You know the story Prior to these months we see cooler temperatures were coming out of winter, and it takes time for the ocean to warm up. Well, we just saw sub Tropical Storm Ana form northeast of Bermuda just a few days ago. And sea surface temperatures are already prime for additional activity. We're looking at sea surface temperatures that are already over 80 degrees in parts of the Gulf of Mexico and in the Caribbean. So to give you a sense of what an average hurricane season is. It has changed. Unfortunately, over the past year, so it is a little bit different for 2021 coming in. In 2020. We were still using the old 30 year. Statistical data set that hurricane forecasters YouTube's during an average hurricane year and this still included the year that Hurricane Andrew impacted. We would generally see in the Atlantic 12 named storms, six of which would become hurricane so wind speeds of at least 74 MPH. Category one to Category five. Three would be major hurricanes. Category three and higher Now with 2021. We have a new 30 year data set that starts from 1991 and goes to 2020. We're now increasing our names. Storms by two. So 14 named storms for an average hurricane yer seven hurricanes. That's an addition of one from the previous set and still three major hurricanes. Yes, we have seen a change in an increase in hurricane activity over the past 30 years. A lot of it can be related to the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation. It's an oscillation that occurs every 30 years, and it involves two cycles positive and a negative cycle. Positive cycle, which we have been in since 1995 shows an increase in sea surface temperatures, minimal vertical wind share and that allows for an increase in hurricane activity. This was seen back in the fifties and the sixties was another spike in activity before we went then into a negative cycle for the seventies and eighties. Not a lot of hurricane activity when you're looking at the stats of those hurricanes during those years. 1995 comes along. We're back into this very active period. And we could be stuck in this period until the 19 thirties.

"And our guest today is Dr Athena, Mass. In a meteorologist and hurricane specialist at the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network at the University of Florida. We are talking about the beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season and how science is helping predict where these storms might go and how strong they might be. Earlier, Dr Madison talked about Hurricane Andrew. That storm was began with a obviously the first storm of the season. And it hit the U. S Coast in late August. When Dr Madison and I recorded our conversation, it was May 26 a tropical storm had already formed in the Atlantic. I asked if these storms are coming earlier and getting stronger. Andrew was back in the very early nineties, and at the time there was a strong El Nino that was in effect. So what happens during an El Nino year for the Atlantic Sea surface temperatures are very minimal and wind share values begin to increase, both of which do not favor the development of hurricanes. Hurricanes like it very warm, Very tropical sea surface temperatures need to be at least 80 F and warmer and minimal vertical wind shear in the atmosphere so that these thunderstorms can progress and grow into the higher layers of the atmosphere. Create a little pressure center. With Andrew. That year was particularly cool in all of the Atlantic. So a lot of people became what I like to call hurricane amnesia that they don't recognize that you're still vulnerable. Even if the hurricane season isn't starting until late August that significant A lot of people were caught off guard with Andrew. You know the story Prior to these months we see cooler temperatures were coming out of winter, and it takes time for the ocean to warm up when we just saw sub Tropical Storm Ana form northeast of Bermuda just a few days ago. In 2020. We were still using the old 30 year statistical data set that hurricane forecasters use during an average hurricane year and this still included the year that Hurricane Andrew impacted. We would generally see in the Atlantic 12 named storms, six of which would become hurricane so when space of at least 74 MPH category one to Category five. Three would be major hurricanes. Category three and higher Now with 2021. We have a new 30 year data set that starts from 1991 and goes to 2020. We're now increasing our names. Storms by two. So 14 named storms for an average hurricane year. Seven hurricanes. That's an additional one from the previous set and still three major hurricanes.

Biden can start accessing presidential daily briefing as transition gets underway
"All right, let's talk some election challenges in transition activity. Take it away. Yeah, let's start with the transition activity, which is underway. We know that. As of Monday, the General Services Administration informed President elect Joe Biden at the Trump administration was ready to begin the formal transition process, which in essence is their first step in admitting that President Trump didn't win the Joe Biden did, and we're beginning the process of getting the power and information to the hands of the person that should be taking over come January 20th. So that is, at least to this point in time. We're hearing underway Joe Biden's transition team now talking with all federal agencies. And with that A part of this transition also includes having the ability to access additional office space inside those agencies and the ability to use federal dollars for background checks on Biden's White House staff appointments as well as Cabinet picks, and it also opens the door for Joe Biden. To have the access to the cove in 19 data vaccine vaccine distribution plans and also get the presidential daily briefing. So all of that supposedly began yesterday is going through today here as well. And the interesting part about that is that while that's all underway, President Trump is still saying he is refusing to concede and that he is going to continue to fight. S O yesterday morning. He tweeted that there would be a big lawsuit that would be filed soon. Now we don't know what that lawsuit is. But the president says he's moving full steam ahead still full steam ahead. Now. Today, they're scheduled to be in Pennsylvania Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, meeting that Rudy Giuliani scheduled that is supposed to kind of clarify where things stand in regards to these elections suits that have gone on. We know that when you're just looking at the track record right now, there's only about three active cases remaining right now, out of all of the other cases. They haven't filed a case that the law team for President Trump since November 18th. So all of the lawsuits came between Election Day on November 18th. And since then, the flurry of lawsuits really kind of all concluded bloom. Daddy only three left in one of those, for instance, in Michigan is just all about there being rejected. Defective, improper fire. Wait, That's something that generally you fix real quick. Send it back to the courts and begin the process of hearing that case That hasn't happened with President Trump's legal team. We don't know why was it a mistake? Was it something that planning on doing But we do know that there might be an announcement today after Pennsylvania had their certification of votes yesterday. There might be an announcement today. They're in Gettysburg as to what the next move is going to be for the legal team. In Pennsylvania. I was watching an interview with Alan Dershowitz. And, of course, the Allens Ah, liberal attorney. Very, very bright. He said that the president probably had his best legal footing in Pennsylvania with two or three angles. But so far that really has not come to fruition is you kind of pointed out? Yeah, it's been a situation where you had 19 cases filed by the campaign. 15 have already been denied or dismissed by judges or withdrawn from the campaign itself. Most of that is coming from lack of substantial evidence of voter fraud to back up the claim, so what's left is Not a lot, and also not a lot of time Bloom, Daddy because you're going to have come the 14th of December which, as we're just looking at that calendars here, Thanksgiving wraps up and then they come. Everybody comes back to town. November 30th. The next days. December 1st you've got till December 14th to have electors from each state meet to formally nominate the next president. So if you're going to try to get a legal something battle in you start and finish it before December 14th in order to have any effect on it. Have a sign of that is if you're just trying to work the angle of getting electors to make a decision independent of the state. They represent an independent of the votes that were cast in that state that you also have two weeks to try to get that done here. So I don't know what's going to be able to get done. But these next two weeks between now and December, 14th will be interesting to see cause that will kind of finalize any final nails in the confident you will of the 2020 election.

Shoppers expected to spend $730 billion this season
"Shoppers are expected to spend even more money this year than they did last year. The National Retail Federation predicts that over the holiday shopping seasons of through Christmas Americans. We'll spend around seven hundred and thirty billion dollars. That's with a B. A lot of that will still happen at physical stores but a survey from pricewaterhousecoopers. WBZ for the first time this year found that the majority of shoppers are saying they plan to do most of their holiday shopping online like Lou rather than in stores and that's actually really one of the reasons why to me and a lot of retail watchers one of the biggest themes this year. Is this slow. Change of the meaning of black Friday is beginning to disappear or is it just going join online. Well we have to clear. That still is the busiest shopping day of the year for most stores but for the past two years the number of people oh heading to stores Ford. Those doorbuster deals has inched lower.
