"He was grinning and laughing. Is the needle went in? And the cameras popped. The photo op seem to say sinovac good enough for Asia's top leaders. Good enough for everyone. Well, that was in January. Now Indonesia is the world's epicenter for new covid cases. Graveyards are filling up. The government is fighting back with vaccines, and almost all of them are sinovac, which is now getting bad PR. Because some doctors in Indonesia fully vaccinated with Sinovac are getting covid anyway, including a woman named Nove Ilya Bachtiar, the lead doctor overseeing Sinovac research in her country only had better spirits year Burma to see that's a video of her, giving an online presentation to colleagues in late May. Six weeks later, she was dead from Covid. Sinovac did not save her and that worried people all over Asia because Indonesia is far from the only country locked into using sinovac. And at this point, people will just need to accept it, says Dickey Budiman, a prominent Indonesian epidemiologist. Not many countries has privileged to have access to the most effective vaccine, the most effective vaccines being Pfizer or Moderna. Goodman says they do seem stronger than Sinovac at fighting. The delta strain, which is ravaging Southeast Asia, and governments are now shifting gears. Malaysia says it will stop buying Sinovac Indonesia wants to give its health workers and extra booster shot of Moderna Thailand is saying the same thing. And in the capital of Bangkok, the public is angry..

"All three charges in the death of George Floyd will have much more analysis reactions as we go through the day here on Double D T O P. Let's go to the traffic center right now on Dave Bill down. It's been a very frustrating drive near the Chesapeake Bay, with the westbound span off the Bay Bridge remaining closed a serious multiple vehicle collision shortly before three PM westbound traffic on Kent Island diverged off at various places between Castle Marina Road and ultimately, Route eight. But we understand there are some drivers who have been stuck between the point of diversion in the crash scene on the bridge span itself from more than two hours in park, unable to move and awaiting police direction. We feel for you. Eastbound drivers are in heavy and slow traffic across Broadneck. Delays began near bay. They'll drive, but eastbound drivers can cross the Bay Bridge. You're limited to the eastbound span. All the while. It's been a very slow day around the Beltway and ah lot of routes near it in Tyson's on the outer loop. The crash after 66 consolidated on the right side, 66 westbound slow between the 2 3/4 of Manassas because of a crash reported on the right side, and with the audibly backed up near the Wilson Bridge. A lot of drivers are going through the district. It's like On 3 95 across the southeast Southwest Freeway. Public Transit gets you where you need to go. "All right, let's bring in Jeannie's a Nove Iona College. Obviously Jeannie with the former vice president is over the top now. But President Trump does not appear as though he's going to concede. So what happens now, at least politically, so the president has indicated President Trump that he is going to go ahead with litigation and that he is not conceding this race. That would be quite unprecedented as no president in modern American history, has refused to concede a race, and in fact, many of those concessions are you know, I was just watching a taping of many of them and they are absolutely moving, very difficult moment for the individuals involved. President Trump May, of course, change his mind. I think we're going to see some pressure increasingly from Republican leaders for him to do that, unless there is really solid evidence that they Kenbrell into court to show that the election was Dolan, or that there was some kind of problem at the polls, which would result in not just a recount, but an overturning of these results and need to stress very unprecedented in America at the presidential level, certainly in another levels. For a recount or this type of litigation to result in overturning an election unless the election is just within hundreds of votes, And at least at this point, What we're seeing now is we're talking thousands of votes in the state's that are under question, so I think we may be litigation. We don't expect we're going to see a confession at this point, but I think going forward there's going to be pressure for President Trump to concede. And then, of course on the vice president elect part we're going to see him and his team start to think about the all important issue of transition and creating a Cabinet. First on the agenda is, of course, dealing with the issue of coded health care and the economy that's been devastated by what happened over the last year. Jeannie, I just wanted to ask you about some of the historical perspective. You Just addressed the historical perspective ofthe challenging this outcome. But let's remember President Trump was the first president whoever had never run for office before until running for president and then winning. Also, we now have Vice President elect Kamala Harris, the first black person, the first person of South Asian descent elected to the office. Also the first woman elected to that office. And Joe Biden's Believe may be the oldest president ever elected to office. If you could tie all of that together and just tell us about the history that we are witnessing as it unfolds now Yeah, It's absolutely really just an important point. And I was going to say also emotional for many people you mentioned in particular. Kamala Harris, the first woman you know women have been waiting so long to get in the upper echelons of leadership in this country. She has broken the glass ceiling at you know, one step away from the presidency. And she is in Africa. A woman of African woman of Asian descent I should say in an African American woman, so this is, you know, historic by, you know all of those marks. You mentioned Vice President Joe Biden in the first person since Ronald Reagan to run for president unsuccessfully as many times as he did and then tow win, as he has at this point, being vice leading president elect So that is historic. His age is historic. And of course, we're in the midst of a pandemic, and we've also seen on the part of the American voter historic turnout. So you know there's just so much history being made here. I think it's important that we all take a step back and think about this. And I think that you know, depending on what happens in terms of a potential confession from Trump. We also are seeing you, Noah really uphill battle for President elect bite And as he begins to make good on this promise about bringing the American people together after a really, really tough campaign, and we have to remember that, you know, half of the people voted or almost half of the people who voted. This is not the outcome that they wanted. And so we may also see some protests. Hopefully, we don't see any violence. But that is also, you know, not something we commonly see After a presidential election, a great Juro of Bloomberg government talk a little bit more about how difficult it could be to bind the nation's wounds together from a policy perspective..

Hello Daniel Hello taps. How are you lying? I was your little mini break. It was lovely. Thank you yeah. I'm really enjoyed seeing by small corridor of Slovenia between Minova. Where where were you? So where is that in Just just orientate as Napalm locators in Slovenia Slovakia Slovenia kind of looks on the map it so it looks like a pigeon facing facing east. It was sort of smack in the Middle Laurent as in the Middle Australia stream over to the north the mountainous region to the north Italy over to the west of course and then you can get into Hungary directly in the North East side of in the breast. Yeah counted the wings in more the way maybe and then then down to Novo Mesto which I suppose as the pigeon loss I quit corrections corner about the shape of Slovenia resembling an east facing pigeon. I Miss Her don. You're so Novo. Mesto is not down near the rear end. It's more down the from the breast of the pigeon to neither neither see no no uh-huh armpit is bottom and Novo. Mesto is probably about ten minutes drive from the Croatian border. Okay Okay and it's kind of one of the two cycling hotbeds Nove. Mesto is the home of the ADRIA mobile continental team Um That's the team. That kind of brought gave Primoz rogue lychees Break in cycling a switched over from ski jumping and Just on that. 'cause we always a little bit of stick for mentioning. That broke Lynch was formerly a ski jumper that very proud of that in Slovenia because Ski Jumping Ping is the number one sport probably ski jumping in football and then cycling is really coming up on. The radio is because of the success of Wroclaw skijumping being the number one so that'd be like Paul Volcker thing being our number one sport. It's not something that everybody can do Cabo tossing in Scotland for similar. Doc You tell. The snow chops ever watched the four hills tournament slot tour to France to blue ribbon event. Ski Jumping usually happens. Just stop the Christmas. I think always broadcast on Eurosport. Very good praise on. Yeah anyway so I was down in A day trip down to Novo Mesto and the other cycling site. Big Cycling Team is in the capital Lubiana. And that's the one Taddei puncture came through because Well and young Paul says well Yan Policies Farther Marco is still involved with that team and later a strong link between the Lubyanka team and you eighteen members of course hoke pug and rugged both from that central area. Aren't they napalm gone. Not far from Lubiana rugs just from just from north of Lubiana Pogo thing. Just east of Lubiana but came through. Different systems came through different teams different systems. uh-huh and I mean everybody is close to everywhere in Slovenia. I mean a fun driven and our the other direction I would have been in on the beak to clean I I in in Italy so yeah. It's a kind of a country of different influences. He's got an Italian influence over in the West. Gather is Croatian feeling down where I was and then sort of Austrian mountainous in the north and of course it used to be what it was. The first country to break away from Yugoslavia declare independence from Yugoslavia in the early nineties. And well I'm going to do a little dispatched from Slovenia and report back on material. Now I mean there. I mean apart from getting under the skin of Slovenian cycles. You've obviously let's see done. What were you doing there? Well I went to see Yanna Brockovich. The former discovery channel astound radio shack. And Bahrain. Morita rider rider who has been serving a suspension for an anti doping rule violation. He is returning to racing this season with Adra Mobile Bill. He's in his mid thirties now and I went to speak to him about a serious issue. Really he's well. What has he described it? Disordered eating which became an eating disorder. And I wanted to go and find out more about that. And so we had a long conversation nation in his bike shop in Nove Mesto or bike shop he co owns and that will be that interview a fringe of the podcast special. I think next week. We'll get that out that it was a really well. It's a it's a serious story a serious subject and something I didn't know much about I'm wanted took wanted to hear his side of a quite serious story and then he spoke them the source of Indians cycling boom as well didn't you yeah. Well he was the first Slovenian rider really. I make it to the very top level. He won the Dolphin in two thousand and eleven. He in two of the Franc's was ninth in two thousand twelve but an up and down career has to be said and when you hear his story the you'll realize why that was gosh Yeah he's had a he's had a rough time at times can't wait to hear that 'em about there's been racing Some of it involving a certain Slovenian that you've already mentioned I can give us a little news round up I can indeed. Yeah the Taddei Pugachev is off to a flyer isn't he. He won the avalanche. Yana an an overall ahead of Jack and tailgate can heart on the podium in I lever old ginger put him in a race on that level. I think he's no even even remote. Is I mean you all. I've been called Ginger. He's not okay. Well seen in a certain light. I'm colorblind kind of gingery. Maybe seen in a roller disco. If you wearing row tinted spectacles yeah okay. He's not all right. Okay all right well still to be achieved. The had the first podium. Well I mean unless you get reaches for the head had I between now and the Tour de France Paul Gotcha won two stages the most difficult to deal and Groan awaken of Yamba visa warming up for who knows what they season. He kind of the old man. Our bodies merged with with them naming their Tour de France team. Early and him being but Groenewegen one to sprint finishes and the other one the other sprint finish went to Fabio Yacob's who won our stage of the well to last year. LPGA not far from Valencia. What else has been having having the weather? Saudi tour two stage wins and the overall fulfill powerhouse of Bahrain. McLaren first-stage victory for Naby Honi first win in Arcadia sunset. Colors also his first win since the two thousand eighteen welter Remember that stage win came a day or two after being accused of holding onto a team car didn't and didn't they were on one of the climbs Behani back to winning white after quite a while giant Lee of Sun Web one the head son Tour in Australia and the twelve. Something caught my eye. Walls researching climate change segment or episode. Or whatever that's going to wind up being in a few weeks time the organizer of the race want to be carbon neutral by twenty twenty three. This is a week long. Stage race in the south of France is being. I think this was the the fiftieth edition is such a name that that conjures up. Early season racing. Doesn't it gloves. And leg warmers. You know in the old days there was no sight easy to Sudan under. It was a while tour of the Mediterranean. That was really that was it. That's right yeah and Well they went to be carbon neutral by twenty twenty three A. I've asked Francois Tommaso to talk to the organizer of the race about Latte carbon. Well that's IT and they were. They were no drug tests out of the race. According to Magnus Court of Education I who won the second stage. Well that seems highly irregular for race of that standing in that ranking who else one Ben O'Connor continuing. NTT's fine started. The season is this the risk factor the beyond res Factum on a meeting large slices of humble pie already this season having written off lightly impact. NTT and the final stage age. The time trial was won by Alabama Betty all of education I and Quite an important win for him. Only the second win of his professional career and the other one of course being last year's tour flounders and I gather that win being weighing quite heavily on Petiot shoulders the self. The level of expectation dictation is placed on himself as as been weighing pretty heavily so perhaps that will ease things a little bit for Betty beat court in that time trial by nine seconds and the rule was taken by Ben Wachovia Foy who had also won the Grand Prix La Marseillaise. The one day race that precedes the dosage. So the racing continues said load of stock. Coming up we'll soon be back to well to level with the YA tour which is coming up in time just a couple of bits of news from the AH while away from the racing mark conditions not being named in the Great Britain Track Whoa championship team. The world's in Berlin Later this month which basically actually end any hope. He would have hired of riding the Olympic Games for Great Britain to see our Lynne. You say Danielle. One isn't it but yeah I wouldn't be a total surprise if there's any team next year we I went to the team for comment on this story. A few months ago at the world championships rumor remember was floating around and all they would say was. There wouldn't be a women's team in twenty twenty which left the possibility open of there being one in two thousand twenty one one of the issues with the company itself is they have gender parity when it comes to salaries in the company itself because that would have an impact own the cycling team that because a ride in the women's team would make audible tastes it. They are the team leaders. They would want wage parity with with them entertainment now. That's the next big jump for women's cycling isn't it and one of the peculiarities of that team is that actually belongs to e f does not so the the writers are in effect e F employees which is not something that can be said about a lot of other. Now, he said her there, would you say crush heads, mash? No, that's good. I think that's important. I call it margin. You know. You know at margin is margin is space. Oh, yeah. Right. So, so the space between the desk, for example in the window. There's a gap there that's the margin. Or if you think about the margins on a on a computer on, on a piece of paper, like word for example, you know what the margins are like from the edge of the paper to where the word start. That's the gap by. That's the margin indent. Yeah. So you have this margin on the paper, but you also have margin in your life. And so what a lot of guys will do is, they'll stack up their day, right? So they've got this event then this activity, then this appointment, they got so much stuff loaded loaded load load, and they never give like you said the space to just reset or think about a new life or envisioned, something different. So they just keep running the same patterns that they always have. Yeah, so you got to create margin. That's what you're saying. And I agree with that. What do you think you could work on as a son? You should be given that are willing to second. I will. I think that's right. That I should be on the parent. Like, why would you do this? Right. And the answer is like, I don't know. This is just sort of like, this is my thing. This is my thing which is kind of Bernie. I know. This is my aesthetic the stories. I'm takes another thing. I kind of want from the movie which is like get into what the fuck is up with her. But it sort of gets to bog down in the theft stuff. Yeah. But she painted. All these big is is pretty big. And when you ask her about it. She says things like eyes are the window to the soul. And I love the children or sad me my feelings. But like, I wanna know Florida's ceiling which she does not war ho, quote, like I want to dig into like the weird sort of kitschy like, yeah. Marketing of it, all I like all that stuff. Like when they're selling the posters all that process. She tells the story about going deficit. Yes, she had surgery. She went deaf temporarily she had to spend time looking at right leading people's eyes, which I which I think does interesting make sense. And I I really like the supermarket seen right? Where she starts seeing everyone around her with the big is Clinton sort of the notion in the same way that Burton always sketches seventeen..

"Never been able to do anything like this. Because I never could meet the white limit. And we're back on the BPM D this gaming fix and we're going to a little bit about conspiracies and you're not listening to art bell or George Noory but you might think that you are after listening to this show for at least into the the hour or so but we do have some other topics apparently as well but so skit right into it One thing that I've always noticed in gaming is There's definitely a lot if you look at like conspiracy theories and stuff like that I. It really does. Tend to pervade gaming when you look at or or the Geek culture like you look at a lot of the science fiction that we watch The science you know television science fiction or movies or comic books. Yeah and and a lot of the things that we watch her play. And then you know games and also like interactive's know the interactive has something in it or one of one of the biggest ones of course like food Lou and luminosity which we'll talk about and some some of the things like that but I want to talk about something that's really really Concerning me because I was watching this I was watching this on on Youtube. And have you heard of Noah Novak Novak or Nova Novak Nove Novak in passing but I mean it sounds very familiar will me might have something from him kind of important here on so there's a channel it's called The Rican find out about these things. it's called APEX TV. And here's a little. I'm looking for just a little bit of of him because it's a strong doses as they say Here we are. This is from Apex TV and here. He is talking about his five. Shocking predictions a made from by time traveler Noah from two thousand thirty hold on after the commercial break. You know not that. "Like, I I am not annoyed by these updates primarily because they didn't try and like do you want over you by putting last chip or something in it like with an eight twelve and they feel like fine updates for the current state of the market and the current time. If it takes them another four years to refresh the app many again, then like he's gonna get style. That's where have concern is that right now, we've seen the entry level nine point seven. I pay updated two years in a row they want so introduce the year later so two years in a row. There was a a spring something where there was three hundred twenty dollar ipad. And then it got there the next year. And then this year, we haven't seen it change yet. So maybe that's ten point two I pad in some form in the future. Or maybe for this year, it's sticking around. It's not gone maybe for this year like they can change their focus was on the ipad, mini and air and the next year it gets some change. But like the fact that there's a ipad mini has an eight twelve in it. And so of air now like which was is like a whole inbetween category. Just before you could argue that that means that they're want this to be on the market for two years or three years because h. We'll ask for a while. And that maybe next year focuses back on the lower end. You know, Ken, Ken, they maintain if they're going to have an ipad, mini, and I've had air and then to pipe rose can they maintain all those annually or is it pros every eighteen months, and then flip flop like on your focus based on whatever needs you have on on the lower end. Because right now, it isn't like they've got an iphone level. You know, cadence of updating whether it's the time of year or how many months in between each one. It seems kind of experimental. Yeah. I mean, they definitely have a different tragic between Pat on Nove sleep because still find they depend on selling last year's model low price. Seven and.

"What else? Oh, and and then instead of having a lot of icons us, which is this is one of the things I really like about about Android is the big widgets. So this is a widget and then action laundry, let you make any icon also be a folder. So these are the apps I use the most. Like, there's Pokemon go. But if I so if I hit it just launches Polk Manco, but if I swiped down that's actually the game folder so on the front screen without clutter. I have all my stuff there's all the Google apps. So there's all the food apps. Here's the content creation. Apso isn't that? Nice. There's all the travel apps. So so this is the most us travel, of course, is Google maps. So if I tap it. I get cool maps. But if I swipe down I get all the other stuff too. So for me, that's nice. You are shirk. Well, I'm not sure what that means. There's a new Nova launcher out on a new beta out, so but I gave up on Nove lunch or not because I dislike it, but I just like action launch better. It's very reliable, which is nice and the other nice thing, of course, with both action launcher and Nova lunch you can lock the desktop. So that you can't accidents slide things icons around and both feature a very nice feature. Which is you can back up your settings and move it to a new phone very easily. So you save a copy of your settings? That's very nice feature. So I'm a I'm a fan of turnout screen Lewis too, bright. I'm a big fan of actual Samsung has some really nice features in the new phone. I think is very it's a beautiful phone. Very happy with Nova launchers fine. I keep says do you trigger that by accident? No, no. So you have to really kind of deliberately do the swipe. People like the Microsoft launcher? Don't they? Yeah. I don't know how I did that. So bitterly even with a free account if you'd have to look in the advanced features bit lets you created domain have a domain name that you've registered. I have wanted hover. Leo issed. I. And you can with bitterly than say all the shorten links instead of being be IT dot L Y slash something are Leo dot IS t slash something. Which I think is very nice. Reverend Dan quince in the chat room has filled me, and I guess Google is deprecating. They're shorter Google dot g l for public use the QR code Jenner is still there. But as I said a bit Lee is a great shorter highly recommended, I don't know if they do QR codes or not, but it's a great shorter. And then somebody in the chapter mentioned that there is of the open source a QR code shorter that you can use on MAC and Lennox that is easily installed in downloaded. And but it's command line called Q are and code a python script called Q are in code. So then then you don't you know, you create your own your L shorter. And you don't even need to Senate through anybody. So there's a couple of answers for you. I guess.

"Happy published in the New England Journal of medicine. We put a link on Nove talk is don't come to this adobe of Papis. We've mentioned. Rule number ten is a raw the personal one rule number ten says study biology the reason for that. From my perspective is a the biology is the most interesting of the sciences. It incorporates both mathematics chemistry and to some extent. Physics. So it's multidisciplinary in this case. Computers are now becoming a very important part of biology, and there is so much that we don't know. So if you want to make discoveries who don't want to work him, well trodden areas, you want to work in an area where we don't know much. And that is biology. There is also another reason from a Nobel perspective, and that is that the Nobel prize in physiology or medicine is all was given to a biologist, but the Nobel prize in chemistry is increasing. Only being given to biologists. Also until you have a chance to categories so I really rest. My case study biology. It is a wonderful field. There is much to be discovered. And I would recommend it. Most heartily. I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to Richard Roeper, Tom what he's like to win a Nobel prize and his tips sess many of which applied to both science and life in general. He's a distinguished alumni of my alma mater, the university of Sheffield chief scientific of new engine buyer labs. It's been an on a privileged to have to noble Lawrence on this episode. And who knows maybe we've already heard someone on the podcast who may be Lawrence in the future. We've come full circle to where we started in one. Let's end with some final thoughts from delta leash amines. I was really excited that cancer. Immunotherapy got the Nobel prize. Tim Allison and his colleagues as well. As Dr Joe, I really deserve a lot of credit for opening the door for the development of cancer. Immunotherapy for the betterment of cancer patients everywhere there are so many people that them so much for making this possible. And it's really up to us to build on what they've started and continue to grow the field and make newer and even better immuno therapies for cancer patients everywhere we've come to be end of time together. It only remains for me to think everyone who supported Nova talk. It's and helped me on my Odio storytelling journey. I'll sign off with this quote from the poet to Elliott who won the nineteen forty eight Nobel prize in literature. We shall cease from our exploration. The end of our exploring will be to arrive where we started and Nova place for the first time.

"A major fire, and sometimes I, I never really know how much truth there is to the conventional wisdom that it's harder for tall pitchers to get their mechanics in order. I assume it and has to be true because there's just more distance. They have to worry about keeping together, but I don't know. Mechanics mechanics in it's hard. It's not like you're arm is going to be doing something different because it's an inch long. I don't know. So I don't know how much is true about the conventional wisdom, but at least if it is in any way, true. You've gotta tall pitcher. It probably makes sense that he's working with another guy who got the highest level as very tall pitcher. So glass now has said that he's excited to work with Kyle Snyder and hits interesting, at least anecdotally to see how the tide has turned against racy ridge over the past few years. Yeah. Yeah, he was considered some sort of pitching whisperer even just a few years ago, and it seems like now based on Garrett, Cole going away and the pirates not pitching quite as well as they used to. People are no longer please. It's almost like we don't know who's good. Yeah, I've talked on the podcast before. I'm always sort of suspicious of the coaching guru who just develops a reputation for being amazing. And you know, sometimes probably is, but other times maybe just lucked out or had the right collection of pitchers or players end up under his care that maybe we're suited to whatever his advice was or we're due for some kind of positive regression any way or were more receptive than the typical player would be to his message for whatever reason. So you just never know because they're guys who developed this reputation for being pitcher whispers, and then they was the reputation. It stops working and I forget it was what three years ago. I think I remember reading an article about it at the time that series is magic. Just sort of seemed to stop working, not entirely like they're stupid guys, obviously who've succeeded for the pirates and guys like give on Nove who've gone there. And ineffective. But on the hold that reputation that he had in that track record, he had of just getting a bunch of guys off the scrap heap and turning them into great pitchers. That just hasn't really worked with the same regularity in the last couple of years. And now there is this kind of counter track record of guys who are getting better when they leave the pirates, which is odd. I don't know if it's just that again. Maybe he's had a run a bad luck or something, or whether it's just that he developed this philosophy that everyone knows about, you know, lots of two seamers and pitching inside and getting grown Paul's and all that. That was maybe what was working at the time in baseball and maybe now is no longer the cutting edge thing. And it's hard when you develop a philosophy that works really well and gets your previously terrible team to the playoffs and gets a book written about you at Travis chick to then abandoned that a year or two later, just because other trends in the game have developed. So. So I sympathize, but that's kind of one reason why it's hard to remain at the top of your game in any area of the sport or drifts in any area, no matter what you do. It's hard to remain at the top of the game. I have to go to a chaplain, I will say, and do you have anything else? I'm gonna read one very short Email which is from Alex who is following up about our discussion about cricket and the elite positions he has. So he says, as someone who played more than a decade of cricket and was above average as a fielder. I spent many Sundays and Saturdays parked at silly mid on and silly mid off. Those are variants of the silly position that we talked about, which is basically a suicidal way to stand and try to catch or just physically block a ball that is hit very close to you. And Alex says to answer three questions, yes, it was kind of scary even with shin guards and a helmet. You generally don't position a fielder there too. Fast ball bowlers eighty five miles per hour tonight. Ninety five miles per hour..
