"I got the back or the thing is over, and I'm out and about and staying inside to watch a golf tournament while normally super appealing because it's the Masters has no appeal to me. Yeah. What? Well, first thing I want to say is my daughter just not going to tell me Hydra was the name of the of the of the god with you Cut off the head because she wants Dad. I want to tell you and I'm just like, write it down. And she writes Hydra like, okay, Great. So now it's hydra is the name of that, But I've been here. I think we're gonna look at the ratings are gonna look like this. The early rounds air up because it's Thursday and Friday, and we're getting live sporting events and we're watching the Masters on three people are still home and figuring out You know, like that hybrid ways of working, But the issue with the Masters is that yes, we're getting to a point now where we're outside, and we're doing more things. So sports is going to take a back seat. Sometimes we don't We already see across the board ratings are down a bit because people are picking and choosing. You know what they want to watch him when they want to tune in. But if even if this was a, you know, a weekend just like this. If the big names at the top of the leaderboard there is much more interesting, much more people are watching the ratings would be it would be good. Because you would you look at the top of the leaderboard. It's not just the Tiger Woods thing, because yes. Would it be if Tiger Woods the contention then we're not having this conversation, But Tiger Woods isn't playing, but we also don't get the other big names. The guys we were starting to like, now at the top. Look, It was a great story that Jordan speech was suddenly Hayes competing. The master's really and where we could see him win a major for the first time since we thought he was going to be the next Tiger Woods four years ago. But the other names that we like that we see at the top there that our guys were kind of like the Dustin Johnson's Brooks Cap because these guys weren't up there. So when, when, when? When you see and go? Okay. The names I don't know the guys I like, aren't up there. It doesn't become something that get asked to get you to the television and you can sit and and be one of those observers who says I'll check my phone and if I need to get to the TV I'll go watch like was there probably a push at the very end when Matsuyama was up big, but he was giving strokes away in the last couple of holes. Yeah, I'm sure people toe are we going to see a play off of something else gonna happen? But if we had those names in contention those guys were there that then then it would be a pretty good rated masters, regardless of the fact that whether we're out doing things and out playing golf for Coaching you sports like you and I are doing or something else. Yeah, I just, um I don't know. Like I I think it's an interesting time like the whole You can't go. You're right about the big game leaderboard right like and it's. It's weird because there are still there's There's not a Phil. There's not a tiger. I I feel like those days it's gonna be really You mentioned it two hours ago. And you're right like we we take for granted how dominant Tiger was now special. That was, although Speke had that one year, right where he was. He was so filthy you can almost count on him is as a constant, So I do think there's the speed the McElroy, the DJ's over the world like theirs. But they don't have the same residents as Phil and as as Tiger, but I would love to know and like, you know, if you open up phone lines, you say on Twitter like he's Jason's at how about a press calm at got live show like What was what was the main reason you didn't watch the Masters or didn't watch the Masters as much as previous years. Was it that we just had one Wasn't that like, Dude, It's spring I've been inside. You know, we've been quarantine and now we're like out in about I just it was on and I didn't pay attention to it. Or, you know, Or was it that like like I didn't? I'm not into any of those guys. And I didn't have I didn't call bet rivers and put money. You know, I didn't bet rivers that can put money on I I will say that I had no idea Like no idea how big gambling on golf was like I have. I have degenerate friends that bet on everything. And I just thought like, Well, they're like such degenerates. They bet on golf, right? And then, like literally, all my buddies like you got salt horse did you do you have? Do you have that guy? Because you know Roma picked him. Well, you know what about to speak, You know, Speak. Speak one last weekend. What about sharply? What about John Graham? You know, Justin Rose had that that incredible start where he started 65 on the first day. Like, man. I wish I had Justin Rose and my my, You know, my daily golf. I had no idea how much call for his gamble upon. Oh, let me let me tell you this and I am giving you your straight talk with us. You know, I've done fantasy football my entire life right fantasy, But I mean, I I discovered in the early twenties was lost my host of fantasy football show you that old Yes. 19 twenties. Yes, He was singling offense so you might get my twenties. You said I was covered in the twenties. I was like the twenties. Yes, they directed me. History lesson like little safe. What Paul was discovered in the 19 twenties by one year. I want to have Red Grange. E had to get the quarterback that through three passes. The rock Me invented. Invented it. Notre Dame Judy Blume, Jack I had a high scoring game and fantasy football. What was the score? 7 to 4 wasn't it was amazing. Fantastic. But you know, I've something fantasy football my whole life right? I hosted a show on an NFL network for a few years for that. But there is no more fantasy sport that is Morfogen to do than fantasy golf. There is, I'm trust me on this. Trust me. Trust me. It is so much fun to do fantasy golf and pick different golfers for each event. The trash talking that you see in fantasy football is like the junior varsity. Compared to what you see in in golf. Someone signs their scorecard. Incorrect or someone you know, blows it with with with with a bed, you know, 17th hole or something like that. It is..

"Some L a USD schools were set to welcome back kindergarten and first graders. It's a phased re opening, and this is going to continue on over the next several weeks to include virtually everybody. All right, a covert story that I want to share with you. And that has to do with vaccinations and the number of vaccinations and the controversy around vaccinations and number of people who will not be vaccinated. Uh, this is a story of colleges requiring students to have vaccines for the fall. Duke University has announced. You betcha. You want to come back to school? It's the vaccine. And then that list of campuses is growing Rutgers in New Jersey. Notre Dame. You got Brown and Cornell and North Eastern in Massachusetts, and that number is growing and why? Well, the vaccines were becoming more widely available. And colleges were saying, Uh okay. Now we want to save campus. 37 States are now vaccinating people of all ages at 16 and up by April 19th all the states in the U. S. Will vaccinate. Everybody who wants to be vaccinated. So why colleges Why is it so important for colleges? Well, especially colleges that are living in dorms, etcetera because outbreaks on campus Keep in mind. You've got residential campuses, social spaces, and they've ever seen a dorm. But we're a dorm building. They have common areas. People congregate. They get drunk. Have a great time. Viruses can did spread through the draw. Dorm campuses aren't insulated from their community, so the kids go out. We now know that it's younger people that are spreading the virus. Now, uh, this is kind of new Right colleges have actually required vaccinations for a long time. There was a survey of about 104 year institutions representing all 50 states, and nearly all required at least one vaccine for enrollment that MMR vaccine and that's the measles, mumps rubella required in 87.5% of campuses surveyed now that's kind of interesting, because when I went to school, I didn't have to prove that I had the vaccine. I mean, certainly in elementary school, I had to prove It. And maybe that worked for high school. But when I went to Cal State Northridge, I didn't have to prove that I was that I had the MMR vaccination. I do remember having to see a counselor and I remember the counselor putting a mirror under my nose and condensation occurs and they said, OK, you're qualified. Here you go. You could start classes immediately. On what to colleges do well, they'll put a registration hold, and it'll actually bar students from signing up until they've met the requirement. But here a couple of problems with that first of all, is it legal. Most universities have the power. It's harder to do with a public university than a private university. Because you've got federal law. You've got state law that all you've got policy that all control in the University of California has a zoo. Matter of fact, it's power is dictated by the state Constitution. There's also the argument and this is an argument that a lot of people who are anti vax or have questions are arguing in terms of the rules. In terms of the mandate. These vaccines have not been approved by the FDA. This is all under an emergency use authorization. And are they mandated to take a vaccine that hasn't even been formally approved by the FDA. That's the question. How about international students? Which so many schools rely on international students for a great deal of their income. The tuition is sky is just sky high. No grants, no loans, they just pay full rack rate. Well, let's say they've been vaccinated. But with the extra Zeneca vaccine they were vaccinated home. Well. The AstraZeneca vaccine has not been accepted in California or the United States. So what do you do with that one? It's a little more complicated as schools as businesses are, as government agencies are demanding vaccines were in a new world and then let's not forget the people that are frightened that are leery of getting the vaccinations Don't trust government. You know, that's brand new That's brand new. What 24% of Americans. Certainly what a great now A number of Republicans less so with Democrats simply will not take the vaccine. Because of mistrust of government and science. That's never happened before. The polio vaccine came out There was nobody out there that was anti polio vaccine. So here we're sitting on north of 560,000 U. S deaths and they're still people say now now, I'm not interested. It's still basically a hoax. And if it isn't the numbers are exaggerated. Mm. And I just don't understand the anti vax people for the life of me. I don't All right, a big test for the president. And that is the infrastructure push. Republicans are saying it's a slush fund. The Democrats, including the administration has saying that every dime is needed and they're both right. They're both wrong. And I'll dive into that one when we come back, Okay? If I am 6 40 let's check in with Layla Mohammed 12. People have been arrested at a white lives matter Rally in Huntington Beach, Police say counter protesters turned up to yesterday's rally.

Fresh update on "notre dame" discussed on NEWS 88.7 Programming
"Day with fellow what Mike Brady did, as it turned out, was at the time almost solely the domain of white men. Tony Griffin didn't know that she did know that certain buildings in Chicago where she lived, captivated her. When she ended up in a college prep school that happened to teach drafting. One teacher noticed she was very good and he would enter me in these kind of science and technology. Citywide competitions that I would win, and he and a guidance counselor kind of pointed me towards architecture. Er, I went the summer between my junior and senior year to the University of Notre Dame for architecture program for high school students. And then the rest is history. So it's a career that I had my sights on from the age of 14. Tony Griffin is also now a professor of urban planning and the director of the Just City lab at Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she does, as the name would suggest. Search for ways that design can make cities more equitable. And nearly a year after downtown's erupted in protest after the killing of George Floyd and over issues of racial injustice, and after a year in which cities, particularly low income residents, became some of the people hardest hit by the pandemic. The question that Griffin has been asking for a long time of how you could design a city to bring us together. Well, it feels more important than ever. There are places geography, these people, businesses and entities. That were struggling before the shutdown. And they shut down his created a devastating blow to them financially, their economic stability and their quality of life, architecture and urban planning. May not seem quite up to the task of creating equity in cities and to be fair. There are only a couple of tools in the toolbox. But you could argue that design helped create racial inequity, wealth gaps, opportunity gaps, and if design could pull us apart. Maybe its role in the solution is being underestimated. Griffin has seen in her own life. What segregation By design means I grew up on the south side of Chicago, which is as probably most people now eyes. A fairly pronounced segregated city south side of Chicago is predominantly African American and over the last few decades, also has a fairly large latte next population. The north side of the city is predominantly white. And when you begin to look at social economic demographics of the two parts of town, they're also fairly stark. The Brookings is too has been doing some really interesting research on the devaluation. Of home values between black neighborhoods and white neighborhoods When you compare the same lot in the same type of home today in Chicago, home that is on the south side in a black neighborhood is devalued at $36,000, less than the exact same home. On the north side in a comparable neighborhood to a comparable house. All that, But you know, as a kid, I don't know None of that, right. I just know everything I need. It was on the South side. And as a kid, you know, the city is big, so everywhere I went in my orbit. You know, it's all black folks. That was completely normal to me. Most of my classmates well, actually, after the second grade, the majority of my classmates were black. I have black teachers. It wasn't until I went to the University of Notre Dame is an undergrad that I was in a space where I was not the majority. Mm. And I entered the profession where I woz the minority, which is still the case. Today, There are only 500 black women who've ever been licensed as a registered architect in the United States. And there's less than 2% black architects, male or female of their ballot 116,000 in the United States, So you know, coming from an environment where you're comfortable in your skin and your being and who you are and that going Into an environment where you're kind of other to either directly or indirectly had some effect on me. Although you know I performed well and school I performed well in my first job. It's good mornings and marrow. It wasn't until I started doing urban design and planning work with an S a limb in Chicago that I began to have and formulate more questions about why the city was the way it was. When you talk about how you worked over, see, like you did some design for clients overseas. And then you did stuff back in the U. S. And you start to see these differences and like, Where's the commerce? What kind of housing is being built? What kind of services are being offered that type of thing? Um What did you eventually answer yourself about, like, what's going on here? Well, the more I immerse myself in knowledge about the history of development of cities, the more I began to understand. There were a syriza's of very intentional policies and practices dating back to the early parts. Early decades of the last century that were written with intentional exclusion, extraction and discrimination at mine. We think about some of our early housing and housing finance acts, which were written intentionally to not be offered to African Americans when we think about some of the policies even coming out of the World War that we're providing home loans and education loans. Returning veterans. Some of those acts were not written to include African Americans, real estate sectors, wrote restrictive covenants and established practices of blockbusting. Which were designed to create racial tension and devalue spaces where black people were. So it's interesting that I didn't learn that in my undergraduate degree, but that in years into practice by taking a break in going off to Harvard to do a little fellowship Began understand, as I think anyone who's working in cities must understand the legacy of intentional policy and practice, which was designed to extract exclude discriminate. And devalue spaces were black people were Um, can you give an example of a city that you've worked in where you can just explain how there were laws practices put into place that you know, created this kind of segregation you talked about, like how houses could be worth very different amounts in like waiter and blacker parts of Chicago. Like Is there something where you can say here's a city? I worked in it and no, Here's a story of what then happened. Every city has this history in every major U. S. City has this history if you are in a city where you find that black folks live on one side of town and white folks live on another The reason that exists is because of some of these policies I just mentioned You know Chicago when blacks migrated from the south, coming out of the agricultural fields, post slavery. To that North to begin to participate and look for work and income in the industrial economy. They migrated to northern and Midwestern states for Chicago. You're coming out of Arkansas and Mississippi. You're coming into a part of Chicago that was known as the black belts. So in this period between 1910 and the 19, forties, concentrated black folks and a particular part in the city due to some of these racial covenants and restrictions, But it also happened to be the place where black people thrive. The first black insurance company, the first Black bank The first black newspaper were started in the black belt later known as black metropolis, which some would say is analogous to Harlem at the same time..

Lsu lsu is ready to pay him Both leaning plus money and You know he went to both places this week. And i think at the end for For marcus freeman. Who is cincinnati. Thirty three might be thirty four year. Old defensive coordinator and the architect of that That great cincinnati defensive wanted this year one the afc and then Loss to george on a last second field goal in the in the peach bowl. I think for for marcus. There was geography and You know there will be some stability right. You got notre dame brian. Kelly is just steady ship there and You know there was a lot attractive. I think about. Lsu they were. I think on for twenty four until defense or some some number that would be easily improved upon with some new blood in better schemes. And obviously they probably have more raw talent down there so i mean really a really a compelling decision for a bright young coach. Call that we're going to be hearing a lot about in the In the next couple of the next couple of years course the next guy will probably not be thrilled to because all the attention was on freeman. But where does she go next. That's a that's a really good question really. Good question You know they they. The Tale of Manti Teo
"So donned the newest back story. Your investigative docu series for espn focuses on the tail of man. Tie tayo who is on the one hand this college football phenomenon. Who led notre dame to an undefeated regular season back in twenty twelve true but he is more infamously remembered sports fans for being catfish te. It was reported confirmed that tao's girlfriend. His then girlfriend who he claimed had died of cancer was actually not a real person and so don this is just one of the strangest sports stories. All the last decade i would contend ever actually so what made you wanna revisit. The story of mankind tail for backstory. Because all these years later there's so many questions that have lingered don van natta is a pulitzer prize winning reporter and host of the espn docu series. Back story. remember. We all bought into this incredible fable. And that's the word for it. It was a story that was too good to be true. Tale elected to come back for his senior season. Not only will he leave. That program has one of its greatest defensive players but also as one of its most beloved the media swooned over it as fans we all loved it and then we found out it was completely false. Notre dame says tale has told them he's been the victim of a hoax perpetrated by others. What do you make of this with raises questions about why the media fell for the story. Were there warnings at anti had during that autumn that maybe he set aside. I would argue. Pablo that all these years later. We still have these questions about whether anti was complicit or not. What did manton know. And when did he know it. And so for me. And for the backstory team. The whole conceit of the series. Go back on sports stories. You think you know we felt. There was a lot of room to run here and do reporting and try to answer some of these lingering questions all these years later
Thirty-two NFL Awards
"Every week on this podcast given out. Nfl awards app. The week is over. This could be a bit ambitious but thirty two teams thirty two awards. Let's go we're gonna call this one the best six and ten team of all time award but the washington football team stepped up so now he renamed it already way to change the word on the fly in the moment with breaking news the best seven and nine team of all time award the washington football team now can we say that definitively it may be too early to say last year tampa atlanta both went seventy nine. Those teams didn't even make the playoffs so the early lean is that washington could be the great one of all time. But we don't know yet. Speaking of that game. The clockwork orange award goes to the new york giants because they had to watch i at one point. This season banned myself from nfc east games. I said i wouldn't watch any until the teams are over five hundred. I watch step drop sixty two instead of being super locked into washington philadelphia. And i don't feel like i miss much. I know there's a lot of controversy would get that. Maybe a little bit later but imagine having your eyeballs taped open like clockwork orange and being a member of the giants having to watch that game. Nate sub-field now. Look we can sit here and be upset about it but you could have gone seven nine and got into the playoffs. So how sorry. Can you really feel for the giants the skeletons on the zahara award. Yes some of these awards. We referenced. his some won't get boy when you do get a weird one. You're gonna go man. I get that all right. That award goes to the. Las vegas raiders. Because at the beginning it looked promising. Nice little boat trip trade. Some spices await were crashing into rocks. Not a big deal here. Some locals gathering on the beach here to help nope now. We're marching to our own death in africa so it was very pro gruden. Hey maybe this gruden guy knows what he's doing and then you're like wait. Does this actually suck again. The drought continues. The raiders have not won a playoff game. Since two thousand to the notre dame award that goes to the green bay packers great record high green. Bay's really good. They're thirteen three though the one seat but nobody outside of their own fan base is rooting for this team. Not only because of the history of hatred. Although i imagine there's way more anti notre dame stuff out there than it is anti green bay but no one trusts you. Yes you're thirteen and three but that's three. Nfc conference championship game losses in the six seasons. A couple down years. They've turned this thing around. They are the one seed. But everybody's kind of overt already before. It's even started the parent's weekend award that goes to the new orleans saints. You guys know the deal parents weekend. There's a dad he wants to stay out with you guys. And he's older he's a little beat up and you're like i don't know like we're going to go out. We can't say no. We respect him too much. It doesn't look great. Doesn't make a ton of sense on paper there's some bad stats in there. But you have to let them do it. You have to let them try and the thing is is you and your buddies like there's no way does this is going to end well. The iceman award that goes to the dallas cowboys man and dangerous. What is with this jolt. A don't let us get hot. This is insanity when this was part of the story lines throughout the cowboys broadcast. Yes you on three in a row. Cincinnati san francisco and philadelphia yay. Then you lost the giants at home. You came in eleventh in the nfc but if you were to get in look out. This is now. It's our time you were eleventh in your own conference dangerous. You had sixteen games to prove that you're only dangerous to your fan. Base is or perhaps the understanding of what the word danger beans the g. league award san francisco forty niners. They had twenty eight players. At one point on i r or another injury cova list which was most in the league. They use the most. I are slots. They lost the most games to injury in the nfl. And even with losing record my coach. kyle shanahan. i can't believe how competitive they were. All season law the dabble award. That goes to kirk cousins in the vikings bike. He's gonna win. Nah no one really cares are one in five star people already over this team so their disappointing season was so disappointing so early that it was just all of a sudden just completely off the radar even though they turn some things around there a bit in the middle of the season with dalvin cook but watching cousins dance reminded me of daboh announcing his tiktok account hickory vickery dot mouse ran up the clock coast. Sweeney's got that drill and now he's on tiktok.

"I watched the clips of brian. Kelly press conference and he looked like he was exact exasperated. And i don't know if you're a notre dame fan. How do you feel about this. Because he's i mean he's a really really good coach. We do these top. Twenty five lists every year and brian. Kelly definitely should be in the top five and they have really good players. But i don't know and he's right alabama's done this to almost everybody. They actually didn't do it. The florida but you know was there were still you know it's like we'll see if ohio state gets closer. So let's let's fill people in on the quotes if they didn't see them after the game not surprisingly. Maybe he was surprised. I don't know he was asked a lot about. How does the here how frustrating the question was how frustrated is. How frustrating is it to get to a playoff again lose by this margin the margin not the issue. Losing his losing. I don't know really. What the inferences. This football team battled and they made more plays they being alabama made a few more. Plays on the perimeter. I'm not sure really what the question is when you lose football games you know. There's a few more plays jeff to make. We had the opportunity. You watch the game. I watched the game So everybody needs to continue to carry this narrative that not not good enough. Look at the scores of the games. The albums played all year. And i think when you start changing the narrative little bit then somebody asks as you look at it. You feel like the program has gotten a lot closer. What's the next step. You feel like you guys could take need to take i. I don't really wanna continue to go down this path. We're going to keep getting here okay. And we're gonna keep banging at it and you guys watched the game in you. They had the college football player of the year. Who made some dynamic place. We battled. We were right there. So we're going to keep getting back here. And i'm sorry i don't like it or the national media doesn't like it but we're going to go back to work we're gonna keep recruiting. We're going to put ourselves back in this position again I mean i know. He's got to defend the program. And you know what's he going to say like. Oh yeah we're we're we've got a ways to go But you're right like if you're ordering fan who who still believes deep down the program. That should win the national championship. How do you feel about your coach. Basically coming on saying he's basically trying to say yeah. We don't have a devante smith. We don't have nausea harris. But we were good enough that like if we caught them on the day we could one maybe is that is that we took from it. Yeah and i'm thinking about it. It's like this notre dame team. And i would say it from the last from the jalen smith Ronnie stanley era up. So whatever it is i guess. Maybe it's the last five or six years they've had like some special athletes right. I mean ronnie stanley elite talent offensive lineman jalen field. Jalen fields. Jalen was is home. Ultra talented linebacker. They've had Kyle hamilton is as athletic as any any safety. The country i mean they have some of these guys will fuller was as fast and dynamic as any receiver just about. I mean it's not like they haven't kyran williams of big time running back they just don't have quite enough of them right. I mean like they don't have any of them. It's not like you know. The the line from joey galloway said like northwestern's a bunch of reese davis's you know the inference there is like notre dame has has some guys who would play anywhere and they've always had a bunch of good offensive linemen. They have good tight ends. I don't think they're light years away from having like a team that could win a national title. I mean they're they're a top five team. It's just you know. I don't know like like maybe this is a better way to frame it. Like if they were playing ohio state they have somehow gotten by alabama. I mean Let's take alabama out of the equation if they were playing ohio state and somehow it was a two three game. Let's say let's say that it was just a playoff game but it wasn't. You know as the i. I could see Notre dame beating ohio state. Even after what. I just saw from ohio state alpha. If justin feels plays away did tonight. I couldn't but like i don't think it's out of the realm of possibility like i think there are. You know i watched their. I think notre dame's better team than georgia. I think not notre dame honesty's a better team than florida now. It's easy to say that after you've seen some of these teams get exposed some but lake and those teams. Those teams have played with alabama on a given night right. So i just don't think they have as much margin for error right
Ohio State shocks Clemson & Bama dominates Notre Dame
"And we're taping this about an hour after a pretty stunning performance by ohio state crushing clemson in the semi final game and so we both had two games. There were both blowouts but the second one didn't go the way anybody thought rights to yeah to blow outs. One felt like the game. You expected alabama notre dame. The other one. I never in a million years that i think it would play out that way. And maybe that's my bad. Maybe i should have more faith in the buckeyes though having only seen them six times having only seen them play A couple big games. Nobody could have seen that coming. Nobody could have six touchdowns from dustin fields in snaps dominant performance. I think the thing i most underestimated was just how much fuel they were playing with from the For at the very least from last year's game that they've been holding onto this for twelve months Davos ballot played a role. Who's to say but clearly it was one of those situations where a team just comes out on fire. I hesitate to go down this road With you. But i'm gonna go there. Look you know what justin field pretty fantastic for the first three games of the season against lesser competition. And then he had that three. Pick game against indiana. Who's a good team was probably the best team. They played all season and then they played in the big ten championship game. They played a really good defense at northwestern and he looked like he lost confidence. I i don't know that but he just there was no chris. Alaba ver- and trae sermon ran the ball. Like he'd never run before and looked great. And but the passing game was left a lot to be desired to the point where A lotta people were saying. Hey wilson's now the the number two pick quarterback guy in the draft behind trevor lawrence. Now you fast forward. After this. And i'm talking to different people in football circles. Who our coaches. And they're like i would just discussions going to be really interesting now. What the jaguars may have between trevor lawrence and just field so just like justin feels was phenomenal tonight especially after taking a big shot. In the ribs from james galaxy that ended up being targeting and scou- scott ejected from another playoff game. Just like he did last year against shoe. But i mean these were some deep shots that he was throwing down field. I just thought well how they look terrific on really on both sides of the ball. I think they looked better than they had on. Defense a- this year given the competition but the one eighty on justin field from where he was where people felt about him after the northwestern game. I mean am. I understanding that am i stating that. I mean you. See the same thing i'm seeing. A lot of people were panicking about him. After the northwestern game in will i would say with the three interceptions against indiana and then the way he looked against northwestern. But how much do you think is with a higher state for you know. Not only they not played as many games so they haven't had As much time to figure their team out like trae sermon wasn't even factor until the last game and now he's he's had two huge games back to back. But then got chris alavi back. He missed the title game I mean they've had dating back and keep track of which week it was when they had their covert outbreak but and they had to cancel a game. But i mean they've had guys obviously going in and out of The twenty one day quarantine. That is now what seventeen days Like the day was out at one point like they may just be a case of. They finally got their whole team together at once. And they actually didn't those there were without three starters You know harry. Miller is one of their better offense of lineman. There were without a couple of defensive. Lineman they were allowed master teague forgotten man. Because that's not fair to him. But the way trae sermon trish. All of a sudden turned into the same same version that we saw ezekiel. Oh here by. The ezekiel elliott. Who was not even like in all conference honorable mention or second team all conference to the big ten year. They win the title because he just went wild in the three postseason games. And and now we're seeing trae sermon. Do that transform. It looks like they got. Adrian peterson to transfer from oklahoma compared to like elevated his game to ridiculous proportions. The i will say this. I feel like of the two of us. And i'm not trying to pop on the back here I feel like of the two of us. I was a little more of a believer in having a little more believer in justin feels. Maybe than you were at least as a passer. And i think some of that honestly stems from hearing all the elite eleven guys. And seeing him there where they raved about him in ways to a degree that they said. He's probably the most talented player they've had come through their Or quarterback and he looked like that god and i mean. This was the had some great performances. Obviously the numbers. You put up last year and at times this year. But i mean on that stage. The one thing that jumped out at me and you are both at the national title game in that stadium. A year ago was when it was head to head because trevor lawrence look fantastic when he shredded alabama as a true freshman. And that's when the hype. I would say that's when all of a sudden everybody fell in love with trevor lawrence and he is gonna be the first pick in the draft and a couple of years from now and he's done nothing to undermine that he's been terrific off the field. He's been terrific on the field. But joe burrow really was like outshine them last year in that head to head and certainly You know with justin feels it today just kind of was it was an amazing

Rose Bowl moved from Los Angeles suburb of Pasadena to Dallas area for College Football Playoff
"Games in college football. The Rose Bowl will play outside of Pasadena, California for the first time since World War two Matchup between Notre Dame and Alabama today will be in Arlington, Texas. A change in venue comes because California would not allow in person Spectators at the game. Miranda Suarez of member station K R a reports The Rose Bowl isn't the first big sporting event to seek sanctuary in Arlington during the pandemic. Major League Baseball held the entire world Syria's there last year. University of North Texas Health Science Center epidemiology professor Rajesh Nandi warns these big events could easily become cove in 19 super spreaders. So if there is a large congregation off hands and if the collectively attend barbs in large numbers It's likely that that would give rise to an increase in new corporate cases and hospitalizations obviously follow, Nandy says with covert 19 numbers so bad in North Texas right now, there's no safe way to go to games. How much has Notre Dame closed the gap? We're about to find out against Alabama
"Let's move on college football. Alabama notre dame set the plate for the first time since the two thousand twelve. Bcs national championship game the crimson tide. One by twenty eight points now. That's just one of several high profile losses. Notre dame has suffered over the last twenty years. Take a look at this and take it. And since nineteen ninety eight notre dame has lost all six of its bcs and nuhere six bowl games most recently to clemson and the two thousand eighteen cotton bowl now the fighting irish been outscored by one hundred and forty four points during that span yet. Here is brian kelly. What they have the proof. We're knocking at the door every year playing really good teams great opponents and there's a league football team You know i i. I don't know why this narrative continues to pop up when we're always in the games. No we haven't won a national championship. That's correct I'm not changing the record but we are there every single year and we are grinding it out just like everybody else. Twelve paul finebaum and joey galloway. Paul what is your reaction to brian. kelly's comments well. He not only has notre dame not won a national championship. They haven't even competed in these games. And i think that's really the issue here ryan but brian. Kelly is trying to lower the expectations even lower than they already are. Most people think alabama is going to completely viscera them friday afternoon. And i don't know how you could argue at that point. He's trying to bake into the cake. Listen we're we're a great program we're notre dame we're in the playoffs every year or two. We just can't win the big one. So don't blame me. Don't blame my players. It's a crazy approach. But he's just trying to keep his team calm before they walk into the slaughter friday afternoon it's astounding to me. If he's actually thinking that way the idea of don't worry guys. Were still good no matter what so joey. It makes me think to brian. Kelly point do we hold notre dame to an unfair standard on the other side of that. I don't think it's unfair. Standard people just want to see the four best teams in the country and they wanna see good gains when it gets into college football playoff and if they're not good games than the question always arises. Did you deserve to be there now. I do believe that. Notre dame's four best teams in the country. And i believe they have been You know in recent years when when they get into the playoff and so i don't look at the end result and say well. They didn't deserve to be there absolutely earned their right to be their way. They've played this season. I think this is a better football team that we've seen in recent years unfortunately for notre dame going against a ridiculously good offense in alabama. So it's gonna be tough

"I don't think we're. GonNa, get a playoff I. think we're going to have champions conference shaming themselves champions think maybe we'll have conference champions and we'll have arguments and that's fine because. We've talked about this before, and this was the point I I like to make about the playoff that this year especially cultural balls a TV show. You're looking at it through a lens of how do you compare teams when deciding who gets to go to the rose? Bowl. WHO GETS NEAR SIX GAME? Who Gets the College Football playoff berth. This is a TV show. This year college football is existing merely to exist this fall. It is European soccer without the Champions League, right. Exactly. We can come up with we can you know everybody's going to be seeming all sorts of playoffs at the end of the year, if we don't have an actual postseason, which is fine because I while I, don't love discussion for the sake of discussion, I'd rather see things settled on the field in some fashion. I don't think that's the point of the season I. Don't think if if we're pushing back to September twenty sixth, if we're saying conference only schedule. Teams going from eight conference games in some conferences to ten nine to ten, whatever. The competitive reasons for the twenty twenty season exist less. The just putting pen to paper existing exists a whole lot more. So I don't I don't shed too many tears for Bill C and Jerry Palm, who I both I love both of them dearly. But I think the point is just simply they're just it's sort of corralled exhibitions at this point, which is fine because I'm going to watch all of them enthusiastically and hope that everybody's happy and healthy. Who are your winners and losers here? I, think I think big winner has to be a C. Network. Yeah. I haven't seen the TV schedule, but in terms of ratings yeah. They're going to do everybody's going to be at home pretty much. You know we'll have some stadiums with limited capacity, but yet TV is a huge winner here. TV's a huge winner because of that quirk. Plus Yeah, you know any station that can carry a game I think is a winner, I think. You know I don't have to tell you. I don't have to tell the people that listen to this show, most of whom have been cooped up for many months. Now, that sports on TV is is a big deal. It's it. We're not getting back to normal maybe anytime soon, but it will at least give us that sense of normalcy to see some of the sports that we love on TV. Again, caveat if they can pull it off, and if health allows for it, every local mattress company advertising games, big winner, huge winner. Yeah. In terms of winners and losers I'll stay with notre, dame for just one second. Okay I. Think this is a win for them. I think it was a way for them to lock up at least ten games. I think Jack. Swab. Rick had to make the move I. Think he did the right thing. I don't think there will be much of a much of a negative much of a drawback for them, I? mean. They're doing it with their other sports. Already Notre Dame's an ACC team ton of sense. Yeah. What's the basketball coaches name big slick tear? Mike Bray, he's been doing it forever. He's been doing it forever. So they like, I, told you earlier, they got the friends referral code here to get in for one year only to the ACC. Now, fifteen super conference will we'll see where it goes. So are you good with? Do you want it to be long term as a Notre Dame person? I have always wanted them to join a conference. Okay. You've been skeptical of them actually making that decision, but you've been pro it big Danny see big twelve been pro big ten for a long time. Okay and I would be pro ACC. If it was a move, they decided to make what's interesting about this. Though tie is whenever it is. We push forward to a new normal because raccoon comeback, we're never going back life moves forward. There's going to be some sort of new normal. Once things are hopefully better. What's interesting is there seems to have been conversations about what are conferences really doing for these major major programs beyond limiting their television earning potential. So there you know if if it's USC Oregon, if it's Texas or Oklahoma, if it's you know, Miami, Florida State, whatever in the ACC, lot of these programs could probably earn more money at this point signing TV deals. Allah Notre, Dame, signing a deal with ESPN. Obviously, we have conference networks already, but as the NC Double A. and. And these conferences aren't needed as much as they used to be their bowl tie ins, their TV deals. It's interesting that we're having this conversation about notre, Dame, going a conference route when we could be seeing more notre, Dame's as TV, deals expire and places are saying, well, I mean, we could. We could do this all a card and make some more cash. Just saying the Alabama football just signed a deal with CBS, they're gonNA make a hundred million dollars a year. It's wild. It's while to think about the next five to seven years. However long it's GonNa take for For everything to return or to progress to that new normal. I. Think Notre Dame. I think conference networks. I. Think any TV network that can carry football's a big winner. He says, there will be quirks here. There will be some `asymmetry to win season started when they finish and who's playing who's not playing, I think. I think from a Fan's perspective, it will stay interesting much much deeper into the season than we are accustomed to. Not, a sponsor, but I'm I've been very happy with my Roku. So if you are suddenly needed some sort of Ott device to watch more of your team's games, because everything is conference, only all of the sudden. I've been happy with the ROKU. To stream playstation or. Coo Yeah, rocus crate. Yeah. Okay. Send some stuff Roco. How about that? The big loser here? It may only be one. It's gotta be Syracuse in their way scheduled, right? Funny have. You seen this thing? Yeah I don't know. I haven't seen dates on this, yet I don't think they've. They've given us that yet. But In. This new format Syracuse has, Away Games Against Clemson Louisville north. Carolina noted Damon Pit. Stops sledding. That's pretty tough. Right there. Home Games are fine. It's such a crazy home road split and I don't know if it's because they just value because the part of the thinking with the scheduling is we want to make this more regional. We want to cut down on travel time and expense whatever and do everything to sort of minimize whatever it is. That travels GONNA. Look like this fall. and. The fact is not only the Syracuse get all of their tough games basically on the road. They're. GonNa Louisville, they're going to North Carolina going down to Clemson. IS THEY'RE NOT I?.

"Let's start today's show remembering the impact of the fire. That damaged Notre Dame cathedral in Paris one year ago with thirteen million visitors a year. The medieval masterpiece had attracting more visitors than Saint Peter's Basilica Elaine Sciolino correspondent in Paris since two thousand and two and she describes how the river that surrounds Notre Dom came to the rescue in her book. The Sam the river that made Paris Elaine. Thanks for joining us. Where were you and I know how much you love Paris? What was it like when you heard about the fire at the Notre Dame on April fifteen twenty nineteen? I live in Paris Rick and I happened to have been in New York at the time and I was in an office building and suddenly looked at a TV screen and there was CNN with the Notre. Dom Inflames I mean my city by cathedral and I was so my first questions were did anyone die and was it terrorism and once it was just established that it was a terrible accident and no one died. I was relieved because I was confident. Even at that very moment that it would be rebuilt. Maybe different but it would survive. It had to yeah now you were probably celebrating the fact that you've got this wonderful book. The send the river that made Paris just coming out in actuality in a Lotta ways. It was the send that enabled the firefighters to save the Cathedral. Well I got a phone call from my husband who was watching all of this on French TV in Paris and he said Lane. You're not gonNA believe this but I'm watching television and there is a boat that seems to be pumping water up to the firefighters on the land into the Cathedral. And I knew at that moment I had to write another chapter about the Senate and its role in helping to put out the fire at Notre Dumb. Thank God they had access to all that water when you think of the structure of a Gothic Cathedral. A lot of people don't realize it but there's huge oak beams there's a whole structure between the ceiling and the roof and it's the network of Oak Beams. The roof would be a lead covered roof. Eight hundred years old. I've seen in museums gargoyles with molten lead spewing out their mouth you know cooling and freezing their when you've had a fire like this. I mean it's just a nightmare when I've got the cathedral bursts into flames. I agree one hundred percent with you. It was an absolute nightmare and it affected people in very strange ways being people who had no real religious connection with Notre Dom we're weeping in the streets and people around the world were mourning the fact that this edifice that too many represents the heart and soul of Paris was on the verge of destruction. No I understand that the nineteenth century spire which in your chapter you you say has five hundred tons of Oak. Two hundred and fifty tons of lead fell three hundred feet crashing to the ground. It's amazing that the entire church didn't collapse A lot of people don't realize that stone gets compromised in heat and giant stone. Buildings can fall down because of a fire with the firefighters who belonged to the French military. They're not part of the city of Paris Force went into action as if it was a military operation and the commander of the firefighters sent some of his team into the burning north tower risking their lives to try to cool down that tower. Which we still don't know one year later. Is it completely intact or does it need to be supported in some way? Now that must have been quite a dramatic decision because you can stand back and make sure nobody is endangers way and then the tower would have collapsed or you can send your firefighters in risking a situation like on nine eleven when the trade towers collapsed and all the firefighters inside would perish again. Thank goodness five. Hundred firefighters participated. They took the bold move they rushed in. They called the church and they say the north tower will general galet. Who is the commander of the firefighters spent time in Afghanistan and he had studied also the nine eleven tragedy in the United States? But he had to go to the president of France to get permission to send his firefighters in. Anybody told the president is if we don't do this. We're half an hour away from Notre Dom collapsing. That is amazing. You know we can more in the church. We can love the church but as hard get into the heart in the mind of Parisians. What does it mean to Paris? I mean it just seems like of course. You've got the zero point in front right. Everything is majored in France from the Notre Dame. Its place where they're kings have been coronated through the centuries in so many ways it's the cultural heart of the city even back before the advent of Christianity there was a temple. Can You Peter Right there? Can you talk a little bit about the Notre Dame as that heart and soul of the Great City of Paris? Notre Dame is on the field unless he tae which was where Paris was created. It's the very origin of Paris. Need sits there as not only a beautiful historical monument to museum but it sits there as the absolute essence of Paris So for French Catholics. It's a place of worship but for the rest of the French nation. It's really the origin of their capital city.

"I'm sure you are high rated recruit coming out. What led you to the university of Notre Dame? Yeah. That's a great question for me. You know, when I was looking around, obviously, I wanted to play at a school that was that was great, you know, just on the football field, and you know, wasn't. So I kinda got a little bit older. So I was kind of a junior that I that. I realized that you know, I wanted something more than just being, you know, great football player. And for me is just Notre Dame was the best place in the country for football. And academe IX, you know, it's the top. I've been the school in the country, and you know, majoring marketing, so you know, it was very important to me that I chose the school that you know, was just as good athletically, academically. Of course, obviously coming in. You know, Notre Dame such procedures program as far as football goes. But also as you mentioned academe that had been a great drawl to you coming out of high school. Did you have any other competing offers to where something leads you to maybe Notre Dame outside of just the academics. Maybe coach or someone you talk to maybe a friend going there was there something outside of just the prestigious the athletics and academe IX drew to Notre Dame. It was close to home. It was you know, actually closer than you of. I then which is kinda crazy to think about but. Yeah, I think it was the closest division one school to me. So, you know, my families made it's a lot of the games of never too far away from home. I can always drive back. If I want to an hour and a half away, so known for me this made sense, you know, just, you know, academically, and of course, of course, of course. Yeah. That doesn't get on a sense being able to stay close to home to see your family and stuff while you're out, you know, obviously playing football at a high level and get your education. That's awesome coming in two thousand fifteen you had some other really top receivers on. Notre Dame's team will fuller equanimity Saint Brown guys who were in the NFL. Now having tons of success. What was that competition light coming in knowing that you were going to have to really work hard day in and day out to order to in order to have a friendly competition with those guys, but at the end of the day, you know, hopefully, come out on top of that competition. Yeah. You know, I think you said, you know, I think it was really just, you know, competitive all of us it was friendly. But at the same time, it's a would drove us ought to be great. You know, obviously will was the first one, but, you know, Washington's work ethic, washing them run routes. You know, Dan, day out never missing a practice with something that we all kind of envy, you know, you know, he's having injuries. Now, you know, hopefully, it gets better. So, but you know, will he was always, you know, very hard working guy sturdy, and we always knew that, you know, we can go to when the game on the line, then when he came he was exact same way we came in class. We will remain the first two years. So I mean, we're very close. You know, we still talk, you know, at least once twice a week. But no, I mean, you know, competing with those guys at something that you don't get a chance to do it every school, you know, whether or not you're behind them or starting over, but it's great in. And I think that's one of the reasons why I'm in this. And I am to that. Kinda wanted to offer that a little bit staying kind of on a similar subject..

That's pretty much the same thing. So. Yeah. Yeah. The process itself gave us because. Well, it's it's it's crazy. How many people make stupid arguments about this not admitting? We have a tiny sample size in sport. That will never have a big sample size. The important things that the team playoff known as the busiest never gave us any blowouts, always close competitive games. Always both teams clearly deserving to be there and playing like we are back talking about Yukon again, speaking of significant authoritative, definitive sample sizes Notre Dame as an all time losing record against NC state. Oh, that's my second favorite. Notre Dame loss. Title. They refused to acknowledge the rain highly on plague calling because Notre Dame doesn't respect whether and yes, the rain can't wash away character never felt closer. I've never felt closer to not to to be today. Because if I had been coaching Notre Dame in that game. I can't say that I wouldn't have done the same thing. Like, you're not the boss, God Jesus can walk on water. That means he could plan his passing feet suck. It poseidon. Poseidon counterpoint. I'm just calling Notre Dame expensive NC state from here on out who. That's me, Nancy state. I don't think we should do. So naturally, this is also started the debate of hey, we belonged there for instance, could Dwayne Haskins quarterback of how state like oh. Yeah. Look at this phony. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe shouldn't lost Purdue. Also, by the way, maybe you guys shouldn't have had like, you know, had a terrible human for coach. Maybe that. That's honestly, like what effective people voting. "Thank you Bill, by the way for for that win in our line because I don't I don't think that when came up at the last thread. I would say the biggest by the way the biggest banger of these would be LSU Notre Dame the DaMarcus Russell game. I'll ever member Amos number one draft pick jamarcus Russell. Yes. The one that gave us the moment where Troy Smith and jamarcus Russell were on the sidelines of a game. The next year being interviewed there at the same game. And jamarcus Russell was wearing the biggest Kugi sweater. I've ever seen in my life with a medallion over it like this huge ghost face style. Medallion and they asked Troy Smith, you know, I think it was Chris cow. It's names for FOX's perpetually clueless. And it goes like this. So many people, and is it is. But he has to what do you think of this water and this medallion about the haircut who has the I wha player exactly about America. Yeah. That guy he asked he kind of barges into this interview as these to these two like, you know, fresh out of college NFL guys. Like, hey, what do you think the sweater medallion and Troy Smith looks at it looks at him. And goes, I think it's very Representative of Alabama. Wow. One of the best on air answers. I've ever seen the other thing about an asking people for Notre Dame losses. It is it draws in. What I say United nation. I don't just mean college football nation, it draws in people who clearly have no interest in the games themselves by which I mean gamblers I had one answer from reader, Greg. That was just this these people who come in, and they speak as though the twenty thirteen national championship game was news. Greg says the championship beatdown where they came in his number one, but we're plus ten in Vegas. Bama covered. Cold. Also there was a football game. That's like somebody going and go man male mid thirties. Great heart rate early in nineteen twenty six rock knee blew off the game with Carnegie tech to scouted upcoming opponent. And Carnegie tech beat them nineteen to nothing. Yeah. This was Notre Dame of blue title shot because new rock name is too. Lazy didn't care enough. Do we know Notre Dame's all time win percentage against Yukon? One second, please vamp. I it's a whole bunch of OSs is that own one. Oh in one thousand nine. Biden grabs podium or the one to ultimate the perfect uconn record, of course, eight and five I'm not gonna look it up assuming that's the best record in school history. What could really what could be better think Mack? Matt Brown was talking in nineteen thousand nine such an underrated season. In terms of foam eighty. If only for that, right? If only for that, and for you know, like the longest most miserable like. Then like, it's a let's see two thousand nine and that's that's an Alabama your cause. Remember for the last ten years you like is it an Alabama year or not Alabama here? One of those. It was one of the first Alabama is fresh. No we were getting into. Let's also not forget that. Notre Dame is Owen to all-time against Oregon state, Oregon state. This is such a rich tapestry that I must have scrolled past fifty responses in this thread before you get to the first mention of the Bush push. Whereas what is this threat is this on Twitter? This is this is last night. I just I it was like a quarter ended the Bama Oklahoma game..

"Ooh. Album to the shutdown full cast. We're recording this on what December thirtieth two thousand eighteen. That's a good estimate. Thereabouts means a few things just happened. That means that. Well, we got to add to a list lustrous list a curated list. It's like a wine list at this point. They're the big by the glass ones that everybody knows. But there's some vintage stuff back their way down in the basement that I don't know. Maybe you pulled off a shipwreck was supposed to go to Napoleon. Right. And it's just been sitting there since like eighteen forty eight. Maybe it's something really really super curated. Like, I don't know if I was just going to spoil where we're headed like the time Notre Dame lost Tulsa. Yeah. Man, holly. This was the best question. I thought we could lead off with newer, the one suggested it what is it? Well, answer some point last year. And I don't remember the reason why I just started a threat of favorite Notre Dame losses because it turns out that knitter Dame does United nation. It is America's team in that everyone in America has a favorite Notre Dame football loss. You know, some of the some people are partial to the the last time Notre Dame ran up into ran up into the playoffs. We all remember what happened there Nick Sabin, buried them all screaming and of the dirt fits little child size spayed. Some people are partial to fifty eight seven loss to Miami. Gerry Faust last game, whereas you pointed out Jimmy Johnson ran up the score with his third string. Which I believe I've heard Jimmy Johnson quoted as saying what was I supposed to do. Third. Third-string was good. Favorite is two thousand seven navy that would be the ram veal game where he like they launched him like a cruise missile across the line of scrimmage at poor Evan sharply. And I forgot about this until kit. Rehn reminded me last night. Lou Holtz went on TV after this game. And said, I think it's just grace split navy so much energy into their football program. They should be studying ships. But but last night being board in the second playoff game Lee saw a very being very quickly bored. By the second game, we decided to bring this thread back, and it's amazing. How far you can go through this without finding a repeat? Did anybody have Notre Dame? Michigan two thousand eleven I feel like that was in there. But there were also a couple that I had never heard of they lost. And I had forgotten about the Tulsa loss at home in twenty ten which is up there with the second one that I learned about those new favorite, which is apparently a loss to Purdue at some point. I don't remember that at all. Yeah. I barely remember that the US f losses. And consider Purdue a rival. So it gets even more shameful. It was October nine third and goal down by five points produce sack the quarterback to run out the clock. Thanks to alert re- reader is male Mustafa after pointing that out October thirty two thousand ten is that also and by the way, JJ Kinney's finest hour, they converted on third and twenty six. You know, and I probably should say this. It was a twenty eight twenty seven win for you know, the golden hurricane if I can remind everybody they weren't playing tells the, Nope. Nope. Whole generation Tulsa football players got to go onto the same grass that Rudy probably cut and sold on EBay just last week for extra cash. Yeah. Another favorite one that. I was not aware nineteen seventy six Georgia Tech beat them in the rain running the wishbone and not throwing a single pass game. Only one loss at that point to eventual national champs tech finished four and six. Feels like the officials shutdown full cats Notre Dame lots yet. Can we do oral history of anyone who is still alive from this game? Yeah. Absolutely. Or of you're still live from the USF game too. Because. How many USF students is still alive is Brian Kelly still alive from that game out..

"And someone is clutching his me. I mean, it's not that if you're not paying attention you're gonna trip on it. So that's a little bit unusual and for the kickers if you're on one hash or the other it is going to feel differently because most fields today are. Lat. This one is not it's a good old mid western long. Basically, it's not hybrid turf. It's manicured grass and part of the reason why that's a big deal. Why we're talking about it? Because guys are thinking about that. Whether it's going on the field making a tackle off the field as soon as they get near the edge. They're thinking, okay. This fields raised where am I put my feet where my putting my hands. So you're making guys think about one extra thing that they're not used to thinking of versus the northwestern. Wildcats are used to playing on this field is their home turf. So that it sounds small, but everything matters when you're playing elite level football, nine minutes, thirty seconds and counting now with the north western band out of the field is Jackson pointed out Irish and the Wildcats getting set to kick it off interesting inside the top ten here today here Ryan, we're always thinking about our game and keep an eye on other scores denied the TV. Michigan just behind gutter Dame there at number five in the college football playoff. Just having their way with Penn State up forty forty two to nothing forty two. Again, a win for a win for Notre Dame looking better and better as we go. Maybe Notre Dame should have been ranked number one. I don't know. And also, I think needing to look good here tonight. Yes to keep people's minds off of what Michigan did just behind him. Yeah. That as well. But the best news for Notre Dame. And this is the fun part. You know, people always say don't watch the scoreboard. Don't watch the score. Forget that you get to watch the scoreboard because you're in it because it matters because your rank number four and Alabama's playing LSU. So maybe once in the blue moon now Notre Dame fans get to be Bama fans roll tide tonight. Get those one loss Tigers out from in front of us. And let us move up a little bit you go. That would be nice eight minutes now twenty five seconds and counting before northwestern plays host to unbeaten and fourth ranks Notre Dame and in a matter of moments here, we're going to get you back to the studio. Get you updated on board than just the Michigan and Penn State game for the college football scoreboard. We're looking out to the field now purple tunnel leading out to the field through the far end zone. Once are left getting ready for northwestern to run out with their band lining. The middle of the field really there on the hashes from the ten all the way to the fifty forming an extension to that tunnels. We look and see the captains for northwestern. Getting ready to run out. Also, we got across from us a mezzanine here there shirtless on the mezzanine some of the students have their shirts off. I can't believe they're doing it forty degrees. Freezing out there about two hours ago north Western's lineman offensive and defensive linemen ran out with sleeveless shorts. You know, how you guys think it's a vacillating gain. You put vaseline on your arms your ears your fingers, your inner thighs. You gotta stay warm all over that vastly locks in the heat. No need it tonight. "To a website, solid dot com and flout the contact form. Please give us your suggestions today, though, as I said, the guest of honor is Michael junior of ESPN, formerly of Notre Dame. He was actually on her show a few months back with Dan today. It's just going to be the two of us. Talking all things Irish. So thank you again for downloading. And without further ado, here, we go. All right. I am joined now by former Notre Dame player current ESPN personality pleased. A welcome him back to the show. Mr. Mike Golic junior, sir. How are you? I'm doing great. Glad to be back. Glad we finally cut out the middleman to just get to the talk. That's really important that people actually care about here. We're cutting right to the bone now. So the last time you were on I need to ask this, Dan made me ask this. He gave you a recommendation for something called a Pensacola, which I believe was like a cold brew or some cold coffee concoction mixed with coconut LaCroix. Have you tried this at all? I did I gave the Pensacola shot, and it is a welcome addition to my caffeine arsenal. 'cause there's someone who gets up. Gets up pretty early through most of the week. And once they Dan also introduced me, the idea of the coffee nap on Saturday, I combined those combined those two ideas together to go the Pensacola and the coffee nap into one in a college football Saturday, and it is definitely changed. My my view inexperience of the weekend. The better the Pensacola slumber. Oh, man that sounds like a movie. Well, we're here to talk about Notre Dame. I wanna start here because I had a close friend who kind of caught me off guard a self-proclaimed Notre Dame hater, and he said, you know, I I kind of feel like I could root for this Notre Dame team. And obviously a caught me by surprise because I know the guy and hates Notre Dame. Normally I feel like I've heard a lot more of that this year. And there hasn't been shortage of story lines on the Notre Dame side of things which we can get into. But it has all been weirdly low key for a team. That is always someone in the spotlight. Am I crazy or are you detecting that sort of quality to the season as well? I am you know, I noticed it really from the beginning. And now, I think it's those of us that are closest to the situation always come in with a bit more trepidation. Maybe it's just me because I was part of so many seasons where I was on the team's doing the disappointing for our fan base. And for us with some of the losses that we put down during my time at Notre name. So I always go with a little more trepidation to the season. But I was being talked into how good this team could be by a lot of my co workers early on in the season. Trevor manage one of our analysts who's been beat the drum for Notre Dame since before the year started, and it really took for me getting out to a practice before the Michigan game that week and just seeing this team in person for the first time in two thousand eighteen and see some of the stuff we have there's a lot to like because you've. Got certainly a lot of guys that have been around there for a while you had the change in quarterback and in book bursting onto the scene, but I think you've got a lot of really talented guys. And and a lot of guys that have I think performed really well on a couple of big stages that Notre Dame's had so far this season. So it's like anything else when you perform well in prime time, people tend to notice pay attention a little more. And I think that goes a long way let's talk about that quarterbacks which Notre Dame. Of course, switches quarterbacks from Brandon wimbush to Ian book after three and start book comes on the offense is clearly been better, and I'm not so much. So prized that Brian Kelly would want to see if he could give them more. I guess I'm just a little surprised that actually made the move and did so definitively and very cleanly hasn't looked back at all. You'll remember the last time. I know you remember the last time there was a quarterback controversy at Notre Dame. It was a whole lot Messier than what we've seen go on this year. So..

"For the Notre Dame fighting Irish an opportunity and a chance for the Irish is first home win against a top ten teams since two thousand and four. It's the eighth ranked Notre Dame fighting Irish and the seventh ranked Stanford cardinal boy. Do we have a treat as the to go head-to-head coming up in just over an hour from Notre Dame stadium? Hi, everyone drew Casey with you insider network studios and thanks for stopping by Notre Dame football right here on the Notre Dame radio network. Of course, the Irish have quite the number of rivalries in their storied history. You think of USC perhaps navy Michigan? Who the Irish have already beaten this season and tonight's opponent? The Stanford cardinal the two teams have met more than thirty times, including each of the last twenty one years and boy have there been some tense moments. We certainly expect much more of that coming up tonight. We've got lots to get to as we approach kick off just after seven thirty eastern Lear from head coach Brian Kelly. Of course, we'll check the scoreboard get our keys to the game. And hear what's being said leading up to today's game. But first, let's get it out to our crew will call this one live at Notre Dame stadium alongside Jack Nolan. Ryan Harris, here's the voice of the fighting Irish, Paul Burmeister ju-. Thank you very much so much to look forward to you talk about the rivalry in the history between Notre Dame and Stanford. But right, I'm looking at the list of lines aphids op Ed book, we got a peek last week a very good one. A what he can deal with the offense. Could look like with him at the control. He was over seventy percent. Well over three hundred yards of total offense accounted for five touchdowns. Pat on the back. That was great. Now, you're playing a top ten defense and a top ten team. Now, he gets a really seat answer this question. How good can this offense be with Ian book? And I think what the book he doesn't have to stretch too much the huge game as you mentioned last week. Not just the five touchdowns he produced but there are seven for seven in the red zone with touchdowns last week. So he's had tremendous success. He got that kind of nerves out of the first start of the season. He's too and all as a starter. So I look for Ian book to just stay within his game his physical traits and his confidence are one of the reasons why coach Kelly end this coaching staff placed him into the starting role because of how he's developed because of how he's grown. So they just see this at the next step in his progression. It's one thing to the early in the season as the backup quarterback even one with nice experience from the year prior in feel like you know, what I could get out there dude on Saturday. It's another thing to actually go do it and Jack, Ian finally did that last week did better than most people thought he would always thought that helps a quarterback in practice the next week. He just carry yourself in a different way. When you have that kind of start under your belt. You're practice. Would you see from Ian? And also if you'd like to go there, which you see from Brandon as well a good week for both players this week. Ian has confidence. He's always had confidence. I didn't see much difference there. He throws a nice football. But when you look at last week his average length of completion from the time line of scrimmage to work hit the receiver was five point six yards per throw. Brandon wimbush has a stronger arm. I expect Stanford to try to force Ian to throw deep. He can do that. He did that number of times this week in practice, very successfully. But Brandon wimbush took snatch with the number one team as well this week, including on Thursday, he has a stronger arm. So I expect Stanford to challenging, but they're also preparing Brandon if they need to to put him in if the situation calls for it. And right, I thought one of the reasons that Brian Kelly may become at that's how our offense is supposed to look after he saw what he did against Wake Forest so many more receivers gotten fall different pass. Catchers caught the ball. Allison Mack had a career game. Chase Klay poll was. There. So if like Jack says, they dare Ian to throw the ball more confidence. He gained last week. He would welcome. Yeah. And that's one of the things when when you say ten different receivers caught the ball that shows any lead understanding of the offense. That means Ian book knows where to go with the football and more than that. He also knows how to read the defense before the snap. Your a quarterback. Paul pre-snap. Reads are huge and tough to get to your development as a quarterback. So Ian book not only has the understanding of the offense. But also understanding what the defense is doing and where their weaknesses are. Now. Stanford plays zone defense with are going to be a lot of whole specifically in the five to fifteen yard window that I expect to take advantage of early and often art we're talking quarterbacks here, Jack, we gotta go to the other side. And it's really not a surprise that Stanford's four. No, if someone were told you that a month ago, your first question would be why wonder how many yards Bryce love is four. But really leading the way an offense for them rice has had a decent season quarterback. Jay, Kostelic, terrific Costello's. The reason that they are foreign oh there is no question about that threw for three hundred twenty seven. Yards and three scores against Oregon. He has been the leader of this offense in combination with a very tall and deep wide receiving anti in court. They had a six five tight end at six seven tight end all of their wide. Receivers are six to are larger, and I expect it to be that way again today because Ryan can talk to this. But Stanford's offensive line has been very inconsistent. They had to replace some key pieces. They haven't been that good breaks. Love has only averaging four point three yards per carry head a decent game last week. But it's been a passing Stanford offense and not a rushing Stanford offense and his led them to these victories as for the rushing offense for Notre Dame. It's gonna look a whole lot different today than it did a week ago, and drew when we come back here a little bit as we get closer to kick off will dive into the Notre daybreak game. That's coming up here in a little bit right now back to you in our network studios. Thanks for looking forward to hearing the commentary on that running attack for this week. We'll get it back out to you guys in just a debt for.

Fall bringing the twelfth man Notre Dame stadium her down from the fifty. Dell server for the shock of walks up toss to his offense of line. Now is ready for the ball. Most out to his left in trouble. And just throws it away. Dalen Hayes got into the backfield through tranquil was there as well. It's fourth and Sam Venable has to go forward here. Paul. Excellent crash backlit Kareem Dalen Hayes Tony coming late in the running back to make one line of the front of the Irish. Vanderbilt. Thirty seconds. Vanderbilt now has two timeouts left to all nine laps Notre Dame leading twenty two seventy four th in San. I wonder if they're going to continue with the soccer. They're going to go forward if they punted away with two timeouts left. You wonder, you know, the only problem only two timeouts, and and if you get the ball back to really going to be at the same spot you're in anyways, not just on the field. But also needing to make one play one huge play to keep you going. So Vanderbilt Aiko Florida. You've got that senior quarterback claimed very well now twenty four out of forty three hundred eleven yards one touchdown one picks. It was I sick of the season with thirty one starts, you know, you were a quarterback. There's no situation than you're in that you don't believe in you understand how to handle your emotions in a big time play to really go through the process. It's the same way to run a first down play as the game winning play. Go through the process of this were sherman's experience is gonna come to be an asset near for Vanderbilt. Do you think about the kind of experience that is with those starts inside of SEC stadium size used to this kind of atmosphere? Down in San offense. Does come back on the field that huddled up from the right to left our near hats. The one for one converting on fourth down. But this is fourth attack. Sure. Has the ball Notre Dame washes four fires to the sideline complete? Oh my goodness. Late flag comes Dante von had the coverage. Look like an uncatchable ball. Incredible Dante von being inside the receiver turn outside. Marie. Komo's going out of bounds. Looking for the football. The ball thrown right to the bottom of the numbers inside. Unbelievable that that penalty was called vaunted. Coverage did get that left hand all top of the shoulder of Lipscomb late. There is the question as you pointed out wasn't even a catchable ball turning out to the sidelines. Inside of the bombing the numbers. I it said the Irish thirty seven blasting gave up the middle across the thirty-five brought down by drew tranquil after a gain of three clock ticking. Now, one fifty five fifty four vanity to doubts trailing twenty two seventeen. The big second down right here for the Irish second down second down seven thirty four back to the ground game blasingame. What tell by Tony before he got to the thirty yard line too. Another key third coming up ticking. One thirty one point nine, Tony, accelerating kidding. Before blasingame, really, creating tackle Jalen Elliott following up to make sure it's physical. Vanderbilt shot down and four from the thirty one to the air. The quick slant was white on the money junior. Was there? Incompletion fourth and four from the thirty one. Troy pride junior. Understanding the referees are calling a lot of penalties waited until the compared the ball. Then chopped his arm down to create that incompletion credible intelligence by Troy pride right there to understand what the situation of the game. How the game's being called and how he could change the created incompletion fantastic fought stop one fourth down four of the Notre Dame thirty one yard line. Exceed twenty two seventeen. Oh snap. There was four to pass fiery attend yard line. Complete completes. Over on downs. Back to the Irish Jalen Elliott, terrific coverage Lipscomb had his pants on it. Ryan couldn't bring it in. He has ultimately won the game for the Irish the catch was made on the way Tao Lipscomb had the ball ripped out by Jalen, Elliott, fantastic, technique, coverage and belief. Let's can had it in his arms had it in his arms. Jalen Elliott, creating incompletion. I think we might see a review it was a corner route he did come down with it. But as he hit the ground Elliott landed on top of them and jarred the ball loose one. Oh, seven left in the game. Notre Dame will take.

"The sun is out of the Irish offense. Played their best ball the year. Fifty eight seconds left in the first quarter daily Vanderbilt ten said nothing Brandon wimbush just had a twelve yard touchdown run. Justin. You has twenty six yards Bill and a special teams about ready to come out to the field to give the ball back to Vanderbilt. Let's go back to the field. Check in with Jack plug guys, I can reinforce what Ryan just said. I have a nice pair pick sold. Underarm running shoes on the bottom of my feet are high. I mean, that's one of the issues planning on Turkish both of you guys. Now, the good thing today is there's a breeze down here. So if you're full pads announce, it's still warm, and you have to hydrate quit. It's not the kind of oppressive heat that they had for example, the night of the Michigan what possible advantage for this. Notre Dame defense Vanderbilt's on the averaging sixty four offensive plays a game they huddle for every single Blake. So it's not the temple that has given them. Notre Dame Princeton victory. The Notre Dame offensive lines rotating on almost every other way to stay Energi. So this defense may have sufficient time to respite recover between snaps. It will be interesting to see at Vanderbilt price to play hurry up. I haven't seen him do it. So far this year or Jack? Thank you very much steak road. Watch out for the shoes. It's always tough Paul you reach your hand down as alarming into that. Rubbers? Allison the Heat's coming into your face on top of your back. You're thinking what the heck am I doing here? Jonathan door kicks it off from our left to our right tomorrow. Wakefield is deep sprints up and takes it from his own sixteen. Very short kickoff. And he gets out to the thirty three yard line return of seventeen yards on the short effort from door mccook point. It's not going to be happy with that kick landing right about. Either or high and that all neither right there. Vanderbilt had mild success on their first ride. They got it close to midfield on third down in one through tranquil with a great job pass defense. His buddy tae-bong county was in the face of cow Shurmur. They didn't get the first punted it back to Notre Dame. And they started that drive. They just finished from their own six yard line ninety four yards ending and a touchdown run from Bentonville. From twelve yards out fifty four seconds left in the first quarter Notre Dame leading Vanderbilt ten nothing. Will return after this message from Coca Cola fest tailgate Scott to be burgers and ice, cold coke, reentered hoops, and Saabs. Dodger dog passed me account. What you need a hot grill is cold coke come on. Race day. Tailgate in one one. Remember what we're doing? Here goes out beyond the campus of Notre Dame in every conflict since the civil war Notre Dame graduates have fought for their country. We've trained officers to serve in the army navy air force and marines in both world wars Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf Iraq and Afghanistan this year, we've launched a new initiative, the office of military and veterans affairs to prepare veterans for college and help them graduate. It's who we are God country Notre.

"Refurnish so-called today. Terrific way to start the season, so many seasons really go one way or the other name based on that very first game when you play a quality opponent. So what kind of carry over? Did you get this week when the guys back on the field would the great confidence boost in an armed confidence boost that they played so well against a quality opponent. Well, I think they know that they've established a standard, and they meet and exceed that standard each and every week. They're going to have an opportunity to win each and every week. So I think when you win a football game against a quality a team like Michigan. Then if you stick with a process that you've got a chance to win. So I think they did that this week. They've set a standard internally about the way they're going to prepare. And if they do that, it really doesn't matter who you playing whether it's ball state or Vanderbilt or or Virginia Tech defense so impressive in Khalid. Kareem the Walter camp football foundation defensive player of the week something that he earned both with his performance and his great. I didn't realize it standing on the sideline. I know. I know what you go through. It's not the best seat in the house. He really turned an ankle missed what a couple of plays went right back in there and continue to excel as a tough kid. And and he's you know, a guy that just keeps coming after you play after play. And I think you can say that about our entire defensive line. We were able to really cause havoc. We were worried about the havoc that the defense of Michigan would cause. And and they're really good defense. But I think the habit really would have to go to our defense that they caused the Michigan offense you were a very seasons. Coach when you took this job nine years ago, and even you took a while to adjust to the Notre Dame spotlight. So imagine folks listening at home how hard it is for a young man to adjust to that spotlight in the quarterback position. Brandon had a lot of focus a lot of pressure. A lot of questions. He played even better than I expected him to going into that game. I was really proud of him his preparation was different than it's been. I think the way he's prepared has been so much better and ethic that comes with experience. Like you said he went through it last year learned about the scrutiny in the spotlight of being the quarterback at Notre Dame. And he said, you know, what I'm gonna change. My preparation is preparation was outstanding. He was loose. He was confident and he played that way. To my knowledge the longest post game speech you've ever given a Notre Dame football team because you were so pleased with the effort the energy the preparation, but it was far from a perfect performance. What are you working on this week? What's that next step? You wanna see? Well, we're gonna finish off opponents when we have an opportunity to dominate our opponents we want to dominate them, and we had an opportunity. Michigan was ready to call call it a day, and we had an opportunity, and we did not put them away. And so we've gotta finish off for opponents, and we've got to have a better attention to detail especially in our special teams play. So as coaches as players that commitment to attention to detail has got to be better going into this second week, you know, everybody in the country. They're they're gonna flick it on and off quickly because they expect you the diehards are watched from beginning to end, but every to win this game and win merely by making sure you get to the stadium on time. But with your background in the MAC, and you look at this ball state team, you can legitim-. See some scenarios where they can cause you some problems. Yeah. I really like their quarterback. I mean, I think from from an offensive standpoint, I mean Riley Neal is that quarterback that could play at a number of big ten schools can throw it around. They're gonna early on people are going to start in on because he can rip it. He reminds me of a quarterback that I had it Cincinnati and Tony pike. They've got three really good running backs. It's a team that you have to be prepared for offense defensively they're on a three four defense. We need to be patient and run the football against them. The three four is very difficult because they have a lot of moving. We're patient. We should be able to run the football. But we got to keep an eye on their offense. You crowd last Saturday night just spectacular. But this is a little unusual in that ball state's got a lot of grads up here in state school bunch of guys on the team from around here. It will not be surprising. If they have some success that they've got support in the stadium today. Well, they'll have some support. There's no question. But I think by and large our students here. They'll be out in force. And this is a really good football team. So I think our Notre Dame fans are gonna wanna see us play. And again, I think at the end of the day ball state may have their alums out there to come and see them play. But Notre Dame fans will be in the stadium today. All right moments away from sandy your team out in the field. What's your final direction of words of encouragement? Well, again, stick to the process, Plato our standards. We don't have any other way to play here at the university of Notre Dame. And I expect our players to live up to that coach. Thank you. Good luck tonight. Thank you back with more from Notre Dame stadium a moment. But first this word from frontier communications, it's.

"I've heard for a long time and I am. Yep. He's back. I really like drew trying tranquil. Yup. He's in like sort of a hybrid role will drop into coverage lot at from linebacker position and take on a bunch of different types pass catchers you get after the quarterback. I think he is a sort of prototypical versatile defensive player for twenty eight team. I think he's great. And because of this defense, even with a new defensive coordinator, even with on offense, cycling a couple new offense of Lyman to take over for two great, right. Notre Dame players. It's hard to see them losing more than four games. Oh my God. Yeah, there would say four losses. Eight wins four losses. Eight wins foreign eight. There isn't a team on the schedule that you look at it first blush and say, that's a definite loss, right? You know, I feel I feel pretty good about Notre Dame. All the pieces are here, and I still think it's gonna be a potent offense. But I I have questions about running back wide receiver, offense of line. The biggest one I have mentioned me at his Brandon wimbush. He is truly the x. factor. I have ripped on wimbush since week, three of last year. So today I'm gonna try and strike more of a hopeful tone, Dan, okay. He's a dynamic runner. If he can become a more reliable. Able a more confident passer. Notre Dame could be a contender who knows, Brandon. Wimbush scares defenses more than anybody else in that room. Totally right now it seems like he is entrenched as the starting quarterback. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see. Brian Kelly hasn't quick hook in that Michigan game depending on how things go. I don't know how entrenched he is at the quarterback spot. We saw what happened down the stretch last year. Kelly went to Ian book more than once. So I got real questions about where this is all headed. I think a lot of it falls on the shoulders wimbush. I do agree with you though. I think eight and four is probably the floor, and there is a lot of room to grow in that schedule. Ovar Notre Dame fan. Yes. If I were Notre Dame fan, I'd be a little disappointed, Florida state weren't earlier in the schedule. Yes, that's fair. And this would have been a very good year for USC to come to south bend with inexperienced quarterback, but even with Sam darnold USC did. Nothing at south bend last year. So I, I would assume feel pretty good about that. It doesn't come after a big emotional game elsewhere that USC game on the road. So it shapes up pretty well for Notre Dame. Totally. Yeah. Eight and four. Zero floor defense is going to be rock solid. Offense really has to prove itself. They're going to be a lot of new naked Dexter. Williams can Tony Jones fill the void at running back. Just a lot of questions for me about who the contributors are going to be around, Brandon wimbush. Do they have a good tight on this year? Is it is mass back Allison, Mack is back. Yeah. Okay, that's good. I mean, traditionally they've had good tight end play to to bail them out thirty eight. And that seems like it would be helpful Bush. So it looked the offense was really good in spots last year too, but what ended up happening against teams better defenses. They figured out Brandon wimbush Nettie couldn't throw or that he wasn't confident throwing from the pocket. They need to add another dimension to that offense this year, and whether it's wimbush or book or filled your co, Vic, the last four games of the year. I don't know. They have to find some way to add a little bit more spice to keep teams in and some of these defenses off ballots..

"What all the boys smoking these days. And here's your host, Ty Hildenbrand hey, what do you say tie? How are the fellas looking? Are they gonna give the pretty boys from Southern Cal run for the money, Wham, bam. Slam couple, go Irish. Are you done yet? Yeah, I'm done. Do a very convincing like nineteen twenties voice. Thank you. Thank you. Notre Dame. My beloved fighting Irish. They went nine three. A year ago they did. I put a lot of thought into my Notre Dame preview this year. I jotted down my notes at four thirty in the morning. I couldn't sleep because we were in the process of preparing for this show and Notre Dame was on the docket. It woke me up early. I had to get up ahead of capture my thoughts. There is objectively a lot to like about this. Notre Dame football team this season by Mike, how we got fifteen started back from your ago, nine of which on defense. If you listen to this show on the regular Dan, you know, we've been talking about the defense since sometime in June theft. Markley. The new defensive coordinator was one of my pivotal people If I don't don't pay. pay the twenty thousand season, the very good at linebacker with Dave on Coney really good in the secondary with guys like Julian love. So really good about where they're going to come in with the back half that defense to things that normally don't go together is Notre Dame and a good secondary. But I think they have it again, so it hurts to lose Mike Elko and all that. But the defense is still going to be really good for sure. Most of my questions are going to be an offense. Did you see that one coming Dan? I yeah, I guess I did time. Yeah, I'm right there with ya. The offense loses Josh Adams to the NFL. They lose Dion MacIntosh, got booted from the team. So there are questions at running back. They lose equity, Mia, St. Brown who left early and Kevin Stephenson. He also got booted off the team back January, and you know, we talked a lot about the q. last year and I was big tall freak of Netflix and all that, but Stephenson was actually their most consistent deep threat. And he led the team in receiving touchdowns trope. And then on top of all that Quinton Nelson, Mike mcglinchey, too high profile offense of lime in they go in the top of the NFL draft. Notre Dame's crude really well on the line. They're going to be fine, but that's, that's. That's a lot to lose. Right. That's a lot. Oh yeah. I mean, they've developed really well along the line, but they lose their offensive line coach end up seeing the NFL. Yeah. So different guy, their schedules actually. I mean, we're calling this late July and this is something we do every year. We say not him schedule's, not too bad than we get to the end of the season like, wow, that was that was rough, but in looking at it and late July, I'm going to keep that up because yes, Michigan should be tough, but that's in south bend, yes, the the one to going to San Diego to play navy and then going to northwestern and then Florida state. That's pretty tough going to USC before it ever reason. It just doesn't stack the way previous is scheduled, and this is the kind of schedule you build for yourself back in the old days of like NCWA fourteen, yeah, I know a good year to travel to Virginia Tech. Granted, it's after it's a body blow game after Stanford, but I, I don't love the Stanford defense. You wanna have that aim minus schedule so you can be a contender, but you wanna space it out. So the tough games aren't all back to back. Jerry Tillery is a member of the immortal Kvant tarpons. Yeah, because I believe Cherrie Tillery was on this defensive line when we started the show two thousand eight, Jerry Tillery name..
