"Sleeveless shirts. Okay. You know, it's like a dress or a top that's sleeveless because I'm moving, you're sweating. You know, I carry a cardigan with me, a hotel is cold. And by the way, this goes back to another point I kept forgetting about, you know, those of you who attend conferences and complain that the lecture rooms are cold. Can you imagine if they were warmer for this figure? For the speaker and for the attendees, you're sitting in a warm room. Yeah. You're hearing talking. And you're just kind of 'cause they also, if they get packed, they heat up pretty quickly. They love that. Body heat. So those of you who are listening to this coming to Norwalk bring a sweater or a lap blanket or something to keep you warm until the room warms up. But we're not going to raise the temperature because when all the bodies get in there, it is too hot. Yeah, that's great advice. And it also just keeps you awake. For all the lectures you have to listen to. Right. So you're not snoozing in the middle of a really good lecture. I don't want it sometimes the air conditioning can turn on and it blows cold air on top of you. I get that. Sure. We do want to know. If that's happening. That's funny. That's just a funny additional thing. I thought of, but I do know people that have said things like there are people that run cold that have been cold, but they've started bringing extra clothes just in case they need to. Yeah, a conference is you do need to bring a sweater, a cardigan. I've seen people bring lap blankets that they just tuck in their bags and then pull out and, you know, to stay to stay warm because if you're cold, you're also distracted by just being cold, you can't hear what's going on as well. So either of those extremes and they're hard to come by to get always right, meaning the balance, everything in every room just right. Right..

"Okay. Yeah, so to anyone listening, it's going to attend an astrology conference. Don't be that guy. Don't be the guy that tries to hijack or highlight or yourself when it's somebody else's that's giving the lecture. Right. And so I have seen this done skillfully where a young astrologer may have been teaching, who was I listening. I was listening back to an old lecture of Norwalk, and somebody in the beginning stages of the more of the traditional astrology as it was starting to come out from our hat, right? And so it had some of the elders in the audience, and that young astrologer elicited feedback from them, which was different, and they were respectful and didn't hijack it. They gave just enough and then gave it back to the speaker, which was really, I thought was really cool. So that's the ideal. And one of my lectures when I was a young lecturer, an older woman, a friend of my mom's, was in the lecture. And this happened to me, and she was brilliant. She stood up and interrupted the woman, and she said, I'm not here to listen to you. I'm here to listen to her. I love that audience member, like the audience member that sticks up for this speaker and tells the loud mouth to quiet down. Yes. Because then the speaker doesn't have to do it. Right. It gets tricky. So I've learned, I've developed skills for derailing that. As a speaker, you mean? Yes. As a speaker. For derailing the initial person from the right, I will interrupt them if they've gone, where if I do not see a question happening, I interrupt them and say, is there a question you'd like to ask? Okay. So that's your, because I was going to ask, what are your phrases to help gently sit down, somebody that is being obnoxious or starting to be an appropriate and a level of time because I know there's a good way to handle that and then there's also a bad way to handle that. Right, and sometimes you have to get a little bit more aggressive. But generally speaking in a public scenario, when you're asking somebody to, is there a question that you have for me? And in the beginning of a lecture, I will actually set an intention. And I'll say, if you have a question about the topic that I'm discussing, I would love for you to raise your hand if you have them. Okay. I will not answer questions about your personal chart. That's good. Okay. Right. Because people will do that while I see her talking about that, but I have mercury Venus conjunction in Pisces and you know it's a post Saturn and Virgo and it's got a T square and then just go off and then how does that work for that? Right, or the classic you just taught this, but I have this in my chart and it doesn't work like that for me or something like that, which is also a little annoying. And then one of the, okay, so my first step is to say, is there a question that you have? Because I'm not hearing one yet. And I might say that. I'm not hearing one yet. Do you have a question? Well, I don't understand what your question is. No, I'll literally say. You would be very blunt. I'll be very blunt. I am more softer. So I will say, do you have a question that I can answer here? If they ask me, if they keep going, I'll say, this is a discussion you and I can have after the lecture. That's a good one I like that. That's a good because that's just a clean transition. It is it's not necessarily offensive. It's not offensive. I'd like to have this. That's a great idea. That's a great topic. Let's have this at another time. Right. I need to get on with my lecture. And just do that. If somebody asks me a question about their personal chart, I'll say we're not doing that here. However, if you'd like to set an appointment with me at another time to talk about your chart, I'm happy to do that. That's setting boundaries with people. Because people just are anxious to know about themselves. They really are. Sure. Right? They want to, that's the whole thing. Yeah, that's a primary thing for 98% of people in astrology. Right. So they want to know more about themselves and here's an opportunity potentially to ask you in an environment where I might get that information at no extra charge. Yeah, I messed up. I did that in a rob hand lecture in Norwalk very early on and he was doing a solo return workshop. And he was asking for examples from the audience to put up on the screen, but I misunderstood what he was asking, and I was like, oh, I've got a great solar return chart that's coming up, and I'd love to have you look at it. And he's like, that's great, but I'm actually looking for ones that people already experienced so they can tell me how it went. That's how it went and see. So yeah, being clear about that as a speaker, like if you're looking for an example that has already occurred, so it can actually be used as an example for discussion versus just like a prediction where we don't know what will actually happen because it hasn't happened yet. And also as an audience member being clear what the speaker is asking for and only volunteering that which the speaker has actually requested. These are healthy boundaries, right? So it's really important as a speaker that if one person stands up to hijack your lecture, derail it. You have potentially 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, a hundred other people, depending on who you are. Who are depending on you to deliver the information. Yeah. And to be able to stand up for yourself in some instances and defend that and because every minute is like eating into slide time and to everything in that sense of minutes..

"To tell you my thing. Here's my thing. And now I've got this little bit of time to show you how it works. And I've got ten slides that I wanted to show you about how this thing works. I've heard this phrase so many times in lectures and they're like, and I had a lot of really good examples, but I'm out of time. And that's so disappointing for the audience because that's really where it gets to the meat of what everyone wants to learn, which is like how to do this. How to do it. Right. And if you don't get there in time and you don't end up being able to include what you wanted to include in those examples because you got stuck on the early prerequisite concepts and the time on those. Yeah, it doesn't work. And there is an important part of telling them what you're going to tell them. Hi, my name is Laura now and today I'm going to be talking about blah blah blah. So I tell you what I'm going to what I'm going to be lecturing on. We're going to be covering these few things and then we're going to do some examples. So that would be sort of the telling them what you're going to do and then of course then do it. And then doing it. Right. And then measuring your time in the process, right? So I do personally do not solely depend on the room monitors to give me time cues, right? So I've got to watch or my phone propped up with time showing, or if I don't, and I've left it outside the lecture room because I'm running the conference, and I didn't bring it, and I didn't want it to ring. I will ask the monitor how much time do I have left? That's cool to do. Ask them. How much time do I have left? So then I can measure, do I need to drop something here? And get to the meat of this thing or the examples so that we can really, I can really show you that what I told you here is how I use it. And show you how it works. Yeah. In the habit of either asking the room monitor if they are up for it and hopefully it's not too much of a burden or just asking a friend in the audience to let me know when I'm halfway through this and let me know when I've got like 15 or ten minutes left because then I know how to pace myself from that point. Right, so at Norwich we have monitors that give them the ten minute sign and the 5 minute sign. Yeah. And so we are all about having speakers start on time and end on time for the reason you had said. There's another speaker coming in and they're anxious. Right. They want to get their equipment set up. They want to get their PowerPoint set up. They want to get that going and they want to make sure it's ready to go. And they're nervous. Yeah, and it's not fair to them if you mess up to take time from them if you go long or something. Right. And I have forcibly ended lectures by some big name speakers. Right. They see me come Jeff jour, I'd open the door and he goes to Boston here I have to stop. Okay, that's correct. Yeah. Any of them. Okay, so they know it's like dangerous once you walk into the room and they know they're going over time. They're in trouble and they need to wrap it up. They need to wrap it up. Okay. Right. So it's a matter of respect for your fellow colleagues. Back in the day when we have when we had we recorded on what were those called cassettes, cassette, and then of course, even on disks that had limited, they were like 80 minutes on a desk. You might be able to get away with 5 minutes. But after that, you're done. It's being cut off. You're not going to get it on the recording. I do want to say, I miss those days, but at least there was like a physical reason of, especially as organizers, you could say, sorry, but your lecture recording literally will get cut off at this point. And I know I have some truncated lectures as a result of that in my early, early catalog, but nowadays it's a little unfortunate that we've lost that with the recorders that can go for like two days or something. Yeah, and we're putting it up on the website and it's a digital download. So I mean, I'm okay with two to 5 minutes of going over any more than that. I'm not. I really much prefer my speakers to be on time and let me tell you speakers who might hear this. Future and past and present. I get feedback from my attendees in the surveys that tell me how much they appreciate that I keep Norwalk on time. Okay. So you are like a Norwalk, like the eye of Sauron, you see all and you hear all that happens if you're not directly in the room. That's right. Okay. That's good to know. That's good to strike fear into the hearts of the new speakers this year. And that just circling back to why it's so important and Lisa and I would do this with our local Denver astrology group is usually when there's a conference coming up, we'll try to schedule it relatively close so that a month or two before we're going to get the new lecture to conference in Norwalk, we will schedule to give that presentation locally because the best thing that does is helps you get your timing down. It does. And helps with that, it also helps with knowing audience reaction and knowing if there's a point that you end up spending more time on than you're expecting or less time and different things like that. You really can't know until you have a dry run of that lecture. Right, and if you can not find a audience and most of us in this day and age have a Zoom account, then just deliver the lecture and set a timer for it, set a clock, and watch it and see how it goes. Yeah, do it with friends. Online, whatever. But at the very least, if you can not get any of that, do it for yourself. Do it with your stuffed animals. Just set them up in an audience. I love that. I want a video of that. Right. That's going to cost you that. I want to see Chris Brennan delivering a lecture to a bunch of teddy bears unicorns. I'm doing it out of fear of you barging in that room and cutting me off at the end of a Norwalk lecture. So that's why. Now, there is competing theory about what I'm about to say about a lecture..

"I'm not sure how in the future will my goal, I'm not sure how it'll work would be to have maybe a track or a section of the conference where the speaker is deaf and they are delivering their lecture in sign language. I think that would be spectacular. For sure. Yeah, so how did we get there in terms of circling back around? I think we branched from the program guide, but in terms of we talked to lectures and etiquette for that. Yeah, we did that, but we've talked about, you know, don't bring a stack of books and put it on the podium. It's not enough. You're bona fides don't have to be aired out for everyone. And yeah, it's really about what you present. Yes, that's the information that's important. And then on slides, I mean, I did find it was my third astrology lecture, like public lecture where I did get a handle on it after swinging to those two extremes of winging it and trying to go off the top of my head and that not really working and then going to the other extreme of reading a paper, a 20 page paper, like a project hindsight conference and it being really boring. And then the third one, I did find the middle ground, which at least for me. And different things work for different people. It is different for each person. For me, having the PowerPoint slides helped and having just some bullet short bullet points on each slide to just remind me of the main points that I could just glance at. If I forget where I wanted to go next, but then otherwise try to stay engaged with the audience as much as I can and that's something I've had to refine and go from long paragraphs on the PowerPoint slides, which you really shouldn't do. Don't write out more than one short one line sentence for any bullet point and even that might be too long, but basically keep it as concise as possible in the bullet points, just something you're supposed to glance at. To remind yourself very quickly, because you also, when you're speaking, you can't read. You can't actually read a paragraph. Like it's going to be very hard for you to actually do that. Oh, I've seen people do it. Yeah, and then it just grinds everything. It does. It does. So yes, bullet points are very important. There are several reasons we've already sort of laid out not to do why not to do that. It does drag on and again, the audience is thinking, why am I listening to you, read something that I could read later? Yeah. The other is, is that too much information on the screen is distracting as well. From the speaker. Right. Well, it's distracting the audience. They have to stop and read. I mean, where are you at and what are your lecturing? How do they keep up with what's on the screen while you're talking? Because the audience is immediate impulse when you're sitting in the lectures every time the speaker changes the slide, their impulses to look at what's up on the screen and to take in that new information instead of what the speaker is saying, at least for a few seconds. Yes. Yeah. And then you've got the phenomena we'll see if it sticks. It's a whole bunch of people now standing up and with their phones taking a picture of the screen. Yeah, we got to get over that because that's a little weird, especially because a lot of those presentations you can get afterwards. You can get. It's really unnecessary. Yes. Yeah. Yes. So those bullet points are very important, right? And always make sure your text is a minimum of 24 points. Oh, in size. Okay. Yeah, in size. And anything smaller is too small. Okay. So 5 point comic sans. Okay. 9, ten, 12, 14. Those are all too small on a big screen. Yeah. They need to be big fonts. Out there for you to, again, for the mind to be able to grasp that sentence quickly. And then to move on. And I like if I have bullet points that are going to show up on a page, I'll actually duplicate that slide and so the last slide has everything on it, and each slide before it descends to the first line. So when I advance it, it's adding a line. Right? So I'm not putting all the information out there once. So you use the animate feature. You can, or you can just create the full slide with all the information on it, and that's your last slide. Okay. And then descend it back to there's the first slide has one line. The second slide has two third line has three. So your last slide has all of them. Got it. And then it'll look that way, right? So every time you advance the slides, it looks like it's just adding a line. Got it. Okay. Right. And so they're not, again, when you put all of that information up there, they're first thing to do is stop and read everything. Sure. Yeah, that makes sense. So that helps to combat that in terms of having too much information as soon as you switch to a new slide. Got it. Right. Imagery is great. Beautiful imagery on the screen with a small amount of text. Can help stimulate creative process in the and actually convey something visual that isn't as easy to convey linearly or through language. Sure. So images and also, especially for a strawberry lectures diagrams, like if you can either learn to make your own diagrams, which is doable or find somebody that will work that you can afford if you can afford it to make diagrams for you that will hugely improve your lecture both in terms of the audience having some visuals. If you're explaining some complex technical concept that they've never learned before, but also it becomes a way to remind you of what you wanted to talk about next without actually writing the text out necessarily, but just having a diagram and remembering, oh, this is the next spot in the lecture where I need to explain this diagram. Right. The other thing here is if you're doing a 75 minute lecture and you've got 25 or 30 slides. You've got to know that in 75 minutes, you've got two minutes. Maybe three per slide. Why do I feel like you're just going through a list of all the mistakes I've made like 15 years of lecturing in Norwalk? And I realize it's not because of you're just thinking of all the things I've messed up, but it's because these are things that everybody or many people make that mistake. They make that mistake. Over the course of like 30 years of you watching people and getting feedback on astrology lectures. Right. So let's say you want to do a lecture on the history of astrology and you've got 75 minutes. All right, hypothetically. So if some young astrologer wanted to give a lecture on.

"About investing, more about not floating too much cash in an inefficient manner, because you're probably paying a little bit more attention. And so to me, I can see couples really wanting to dig into a lot of issues that come up when you do have more of a team play. Marianne, you're familiar with this. Why is my partner putting all their money into this weird index fund? Or alternatively, a coinbase account. Totally. I think the social layer is so real. And I was gonna actually give you something Alex interesting because I read your piece on nerd wallet when they went public and until then I didn't really know Norwalk was like this content business, meeting FinTech, which is very similar to Parthian. And so they are actually trying to kind of avoid the nerd wallet. Playbook, and they wouldn't name them by name, but I named them for them. But I'm wondering what you think on because number one is a strong business. So why not try and at least follow what they've somewhat kind of explained to the market? So nerd wallet is a very efficient content play. And essentially what they do is they post things like how to find a, I don't know. A low APR credit card, if you're in college, and they write about it, people come in and read the thing. And then there are a variety of affiliate links that allow you to go forth and get a service. Nerd wallet gets a cut, and they've proven that you can grow that business into public company size. Huzzah. I think my headline was something about how you can write your way to an IPO. As a nerd as a word nerd, it made me happy. But Parthian though it seems to be more like an app that I install to use to both management money and learn more. And so to me, the nerd wallet example could be a top of funnel sort of affair, but the company doesn't be doing quite a lot more once it gets someone in because nerd wallet wants to hand you to Visa collect their fee and be like, if that credit card sucks, you come back and hope you get another one, whereas Parthian wants to shame you for spending too much money right after your pay period, and before you run out of money later in the month. So I would say related but different. I love the name and shame game. I feel like that'll always grab my attention, but hopefully we see more of it. And I guess transitioning a little into our next topic, education, and when I was talking to our mom about this, he was like, a high schooler and was like, I decided that private for profit companies are the way to make impact. And today, and this week, we saw the same thing with Mark Cuban. Wow, yeah. So Mark cub doesn't come up on the show too often, which is probably a mistake because Mark Cuban is a very interesting person. But he kind of blew our minds over the weekend by announcing a new pharmacy. And essentially, the company is designed as far as I can tell. It's called cost plus drug company..

"Just released the 2022 election astrology report, so you can plan ahead for your whole year. I'm pretty excited about having released that a little bit early this year. So that is something to check out. And I will be continuing to do the monthly electional podcast here. Every month. And then just the two conferences are really like the big things that I'm looking forward to because I'll speaking at both Norwalk and esar, and especially that pre conference workshop at esar, I've done workshops before, but I have not actually done a conference related workshop before, so I'm actually pretty excited about that coming up. And yeah, so I hope some of you join me for that. That's going to be, again, on election astrology and getting a little deeper into electional astrology. I'm trying to aim it so that both beginners and more experienced people can get something out of it. So we'll start with more of a review. And then we'll move forward from there into more advanced stuff. And other than that, my consultations as of the moment of recording are still on pause, but if you join my mailing list on my website, that is probably the only place I will announce again when I have consultation openings again. Kind of sees not doing consultations now. Definitely sign up for the mailing list. So you can hear about when the book actually comes out or any of the rest of it. Okay. What was your website again, Lisa? Lisa shine dot com. Cool. Let's see. As for me, my main thing is, I'm going to be developing new courses. So I'm working on doing monthly webinars with my Hellenistic astrology course and students, since that's my main course, is this course on the ancient astrology that I keep adding to and expanding and improving. So the Hellenistic astrology course is suitable for beginner intermediate and advanced students in astrology and teaches you the foundations of the entirety of western astrology in the first thousand years of the tradition. So if you want to know where astrology comes from, what its rationale.

Welcome to nomads place. Hey man good to be here. Thank you so much for coming to my pleasure. Right down the street. Yes yeah we were just talking about how we never were neighbors. Yeah Yeah Burbank. Yep GotTa Love Burbank. Indeed man now Your House. You have a studio as well right Yup Yup got a garage we That was kind of the main selling point of the houses that we'd a three car garage that we could build a studio in awesome. Yeah I mean I wonder how many people in Burbank actually musicians right probably half composed. Who's play yeah? It seems like every you know every couple of months I get invited to some session and it's like down the street somewhere in someone's garage. I'm like Oh my God. I didn't even know there was a studio here. That's all it seems. Like half half the houses in Burbank. Have some SORTA studio you know right right. But he's in the industry exactly and then not to mention writers and actors and producers directors. Sure we're definitely in the entertainment district. Here hub yeah cool all right so bro. The career musician it is what it is right. A lot of people say. What does that mean? Well we've made a living out of playing music so I kinda dub does as career music. Yes somehow we've made it work exactly. Yeah against all odds so look I. I WanNa talk about a brief history. Okay I think you went to the University of Miami is I did. What got into music? What was the impetus that said you know what? I'm going to be a musician but I'm going to be a bass player as well. Well that was early on I mean just as a Kid. I think a lot of us that end up doing this. You know we discover music when we're really young and we just like it. We don't know anything about it. We don't play an instrument yet but we're just into it and that was me. I I listen to a lot of stuff. I was really into it when MTV came out. I just could not stop watching it. I just saw people playing on. Mtv knows like man. I want to do that so then when the time came I I gotta get started taking lessons for just a few months and then I was in a music store once waiting for my lesson in there was based on the wall and I was like. What's that and the guys who get the Bass Guitar and I? I had no idea what that was. It was like I wanNA check that out so as I'm waiting for my guitar lesson I start playing this basin it immediately just like wow like this instrument. This is what I WANNA play. Wow that's who's who's kind of like that. Yeah what what was it? Because there was only four strings would they because they were thicker the vibrations the lower frequency? I can't explain it. It's just like I started playing it and just really dug it. I was like wow. This thing's really cool like and then I kind of learned what it is and what its function isn't a band and Yeah just started taking lessons on one of those i. I was a caddy at the time. Saved up some money caddying at the golf course and bought a Kramer Bass Kramer Duke Bass Guitar. Oh Yeah that was in Norwalk Connecticut. You probably know where that is your from. Long Island right absolutely now not too far away. Yeah all right. So then what brought you down to Miami and eventually over here. Well I've you know pretty soon got pretty serious about it like I had my high school garage band jam on. Know Van. Halen led Zeppelin stuff like that. Then my family moved to Cleveland. Ohio and I was kind of thrust into all the all the groups in the school. Like in the music program like the Renault Bass players so I got thrust into jazz band concert band marching band. Because they didn't have Tubas so I played in marching band with a wireless and then look would do play in the pit orchestra for the musicals. They'd have it high school so I was just kind of thrust into all these situations that that made me a better musician you know I had to. I had to learn to read ahead to to play jazz. I had to learn. You know all all that kind of stuff you know. Kinda made me get serious about music and then started auditioning for other stuff around Cleveland. I played in this like all state jazz band called Ohio Jazz Orchestra for Youth and got my ass kicked in that really like you know. Made Me Kinda step up and shed a lot and that's a trip. How about half of the right? Yeah Yeah so. How did you learn how to read and and play changes and whatnot and jazz because you're going from rock and Roll Jazz? That's a transition. Oh yeah totally. I was a metal head before I did that. Likud I moved to Cleveland. I was like into thrash metal and stuff like that and like you know I started taking theory in the in the high school band director was was like. Oh you know we need to play jazz. Been and all this stuff and I'd never played any of that stuff before I had never read anything so I was just thrust into it and I had to learn and I got Got A teacher in Cleveland and helped me start reading and I got some reading books and practised reading. You know it was just like trial by fire. Sink or swim. You know if there's something that I couldn't figure out how to like take it home and figure it out you know and this is the days before the Internet Youtube to just look it up. Oh no I just had to kind of learn from books and learn from a teacher and just learn about putting the hours in just by you know Kinda practicing reading rhythms and reading notes and the more I did that in the more reading situations I got put into Just kind of the better I got at it and it was a very valuable skill that I was fortunate enough to learn on right. Incredible did you ever use the clap out? The rhythms before is doesn't that table. I remember I would just sit in bed with my book and like a flashlight and a pencil and I would just kind of like nod my head to the quarter note just tap out. The rhythms can only do that for a half hour before bed. You know things like that or if I if I had time where I didn't have my base with me and I couldn't like actually practice do that. Yeah just tap out the rhythms just to Kinda learn how to read rhythms. I talk about that all the time to this day. I'll be sitting on the airplane writing a chart totally an IPAD and you can just tap it out and you can count through it and slow it down right. Yeah I do that all the time just like on planes. Because that's like you know downtime. You have a lot of times in between gigs or whatever and you're like okay. We'll I can use. I can use this three hour flight to chart out tunes for the next GIG. That's right and that's all the time. Yeah Yeah we're GONNA come back to that actually so then you go to. Um so which is kind of good because you start in Jazz Ban. You get your feet wet. Yeah I got more serious a- more serious with jazz as time went on like I said I I was in that Ohio Jazz Orchestra for youth with a lot of real great players from local high schools. I did that and then I went to a interlocken center for the arts for two summer programs and then ended up staying for my senior year of High School Eight of Boarding School. It's just an arts boarding school where everybody's there to get just better at their craft. That's along we. There was there for years senior year so I did two summers and then stayed around for my senior year of high school. Then I went to University of Miami. That's immersive though that. That's Oh man. It was great idea. Yeah it really was because I was with a lot of like minded people all the time you know aside from our on. Sambas that we were in our classes. We jam constantly. You know late at night early in the morning like you're with a bunch of people that just want to play and that just really head start you know just putting in that many hours playing those very fortunate to have been able to do that okay. So that got you prepped for. Yeah then I went to Miami. Miami was the only school I auditioned for. I You know I was. I was an electric bass player. Never really got into the upright thing. A lot of other schools that have jazz programs. Were a little bit more traditional big bandy. You know to where like I couldn't really just be an electric bass player and you go there. Really my options were Miami Berkeley or am I and Miami just seemed to be the right program at the time but you didn't even apply to the others. I didn't I just. I applied auditioned addition to Miami. Got Accepted and that was it. Bam So my choice easy. That's awesome just went yet just went for one school. Yeah what was that like? It's great you've completed your yeah. I did for years. I did take a year off after freshman year. I just kind of wanted like takes time off and process everything because I I've been going pretty intensely for a while with with You know the the the summer jazz program I was in and then interlocken for a year and then after that I did a cruise ship for for the summer. Then I went to Miami for freshman year and It was just a ton of intense shedding for years. And I really just kinda needed to take time away from that just process it so I took a year off after Freshman Year. I did a cruise ship Gig for six on states. Saved up some money practice my ass off but also you know partied quite a bit simple. Do on. Cruise ships brilliant. Yeah just kind of wanted just. I just needed a year to Kinda like SORTA CATCH UP PROCESS. Right relaxed a little bit as well. I feel just like a lot of information intel. It was really practicing a lot back then. To right Yeah so took that year off and then went back and finished and it was great. It was a great program a lot of great players. I played in a lot of bands and just took in a lot of information and it was. It was

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drop royal duties and HRH titles

"Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have reached a deal with the queen bringing them a step closer to an independent life in a statement issued by Buckingham Palace yesterday it was announced that the couple will step away from royal duties and will no longer be using their H. R. H. titles the statement also said that they will keep their home in the U. K. but they'll be paying back the almost three million dollars it cost the public to renovate it we reach the B. B. C.'s well correspondent Johnny diamond in London welcome okay lately how are you alright so let's start with what is the significance of taking away the HRH title his Royal Highness her role Highness they're not exactly gonna be commoners now no they're not going to be commoners but I think it is an indication of where they stand in the royal rankings and that is now pretty low down if not outside of the Middle East the members of the family and the queen went out of her way in a very personal statement on Saturday evening here in the UK to say that they will value to members all's what she called my family about the science science they are no longer getting to use the articles is a really clear indication that effectively they are no longer a real oils that goes along with the fact they're not going to carry out royal duties and okay the royal towers they went receive public money they don't live most of the time in Canada Harry will give up on his military appointments this is a wholesale withdrawal from the official site of royal life Jenny do you know if this is mutually agreed upon to have that happen or if it was a kind of punishment I know you think it was a punishment I think the original line DHEA off to Harry and Meghan made that pretty soccer nouns that they wanted to step back that it would be a more often are found arrangement that Harry E. in particular about Harry and Meghan together would carry out some royal duties while still say proceeding at an independent I'm more private life from the song right but I think the contradictions in the conflicts of interest became pretty clear to both sides effectively that neck and couldn't be in the royal family couldn't be working Royals and to be independent right I'm let's talk a little bit about the money because obviously that's a big question the understanding is that the prince of Wales will continue to offer private financial support what does that mean exactly and and will they be cutting themselves off from all public funding the most cutting themselves off from public fund and there's still a question in the security in the palace never comments on security arrangements but I think it's pretty clear that the UK taxpayer is going to be contributing something to ward says security as far as the rest of it is concerned they won't take any public funding for that day to day activities they did receive some for that official duties and I are in those out so that's finished and yes an unspecified sum from Harry's dance the prince of Wales prince Charles he's been financing them to the two year number around three million dollars a year for the last couple of years their own intention to become what they call financially independent do you know what that means yet no doubt and you know it's tough because they will run a pretty expensive lifestyle and they they will need a fairly impressive income they said they will not do anything that would run against the van use all her majesty and that means it's unlikely to see them endorsing handbags in June or Instagram anytime city this is not only the U. K. but the world just briefly what are your thoughts on what this break means for the institution of the world family I think certainly insult need in terms it's quite a serious Norwalk for the role of family I mean it's good news they come to a deal it's good he is does not threats of kind of walking out and getting a tad old into the millions but thanks again hurry and Meghan with big stars they managed to reach people that the rest the role family didn't release in particular young people younger people and members of ethnic minorities you but generally you know a bit more to dismissive of the royal family than perhaps older people in the U. K. and around the world said they were important as part of the reinvention of the refreshment all of the royal family

Stone unturned? Trumps adviser on trial

"As the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump continues. The start of the trial of his longtime associate is likely to provide him with more discomfort comfort laundry stone flamboyant and controversial political strategist own for using aggressive tactics discredit losing candidates. He's worked As a campaign advisor to a number of Republican presidents including Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan stone formed a relationship with the current president for decades ago. He I advised Mr trump to run for the White House in one thousand nine hundred eighty eight but all the polls are showing that I win or do very well in this election. I'm not happy with what's happening. In the country that friendship mentorship torsion even was the focus of 2017. Netflix documentary called. Get Me Roger Stone. Those who say I have no soul. Those who have no principles are losers serve. Those are bitter losers. Mr Jones. EXACT ROLE IN MR TRUMP's 2016 campaign has long been a source of speculation particular over his contact with wikileaks the release of material about presidential contender. Hillary Clinton in January this year. Mr Stone was indicted by Robert Mueller. The special counsel on seven counts they include obstructing an official proceeding witness tampering and making false statements to Congress about his communication with wikileaks and the trump campaign lead. Not Guilty to these charges. I will defeat them at CNN. HAD BEEN SO SURE MR stones indictment was coming to the network had a camera team outside his the house when the FBI turned up for dramatic early morning rest. This is what the first sounds that. Roger Stone woke up to this morning was the FBI pounding on his his door and shouting John Faz. Men Are. Washington correspondent had a similar hunched to C. N. N.'s. But he made his move a month earlier. I reached out to Roger Stone because I had sensed that his indictment was possibly coming and I wanted to hear from him before he went undercover. As it works I wrote him an email. I said I would be down in Fort Lauderdale one weekend soon. If he's free for lunch take him out and And he accepted house lunch. The lunch was a blast. He is in entertaining storyteller. He's charming he's funny. He has a ton of stories. It was a two hour lunch. That felt very fast. Okay before we get into the lunchtime conversation Let's go through with. The charges are against him. He is facing seven charges. Five of them. Uh are making false statements to congressional investigators. One of them is obstructing government proceeding and one of them is witness tampering I believe he tried to get randy. Credit Co who is a longtime friend of his New York radio show host and a sort of as outrageous on the left is as stone is on the right. He tried to induce credit co into not testifying and I think he you threatened to kidnap Randy credit goes dog. Roger Stone's pled not guilty to all of those charges. How how is the dog? I think the dog's fine critical appeared. He did testify. He showed up with his dog. He was photographed with the dog outside the Capitol. It's a I think the dog is a little white dog named Bianca. Last I heard Bianca was fine. Okay okay all these charges that Mr Stone faces have to do with Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference. Is that right yes. Roger Stone presented himself to the trump campaign campaign as a conduit to wikileaks. He said he was in touch with. Julian assange now after the investigation started. He said that in fact he wasn't that was all bluff and posture turn hype and that all he had been doing monitoring wikileaks as twitter. Feed Robert Muller's indictment says that that's not true in that he was actually in touch through a cut out with wikileaks. And what are the stakes. Here what would happen to Mr Stone if he were found guilty These are serious charges. He faces serious prison time if he goes down for these sixty seven years old and that's Facing years in prison at that age is no picnic. You say he was a charming guy with lots of stories. I mean the public persona of Roger Stone is. He's a kind of Kenny often. Cutting political operative to did you get a sense from him about how he operates when you spoke to him. Well he is a political operative the stories that I liked most. He got gotTa start in Connecticut Politics. He's from Norwalk Connecticut. which is which is down along the coast and he said for his his first campaign for Connecticut? State Senator Who on the train platform is a commuter town into New York? Norwalk is and he would be there in the morning with fliers for his candidate and fresh coffee and then he would be either in the evening with fliers for his candidate and freshly mixed Martinis. It was such a a charming portrayal of a bygone world of political campaigning. But that's where he got a start but I mean this this kind of charming and gracious stuff is not really what he's been known for in in more recent decades. No No. He's a dirty trickster. And he's the first one to admit admit that he's a dirty trickster I think he hone those skills working for Nixon's campaign which is famous for using those sorts of tricks. That's his specialty. That's the sort of thing he does. There's and he's he's really unabashed about it so his his ties then to to president trump. I mean how far back do they go so he is known. Donald Trump for forty years. Their connection goes back to Ronald. Ronald Reagan's nineteen eighty campaign in New York Stone arranged a visit to New Hampshire by Donald Trump in nineteen eighty eight. When he was initially flirting with running for president he was connected with the campaigns? In in in ninety six and two thousand I think it was when when trump sought the reform party nomination and his connection to the to the two thousand sixteen campaign pain starts quite early on to so he has no trump for for a very long time but on the other hand the investigation the Muller reports when it's somewhat by now in in the rear view mirror I mean. How much do you think Mr Trump and his team will be will be watching this trial? How much do you think could change the story as we now know it reopened that chapter? I mean I think they would. They are going to be watching can get very very closely. It's true that the report is done but there was a lot of of stone activity in the Muller report that was redacted what I assume is Roger Stone activity that was redacted and it may well come out this trial. I think there are a couple of things that that the trump campaign will be worried about number one. The trials should show whether Roger Stone was in fact talking to wikileaks and whether when he said he wasn't that was all bluff and posture that that was that was in fact the bluff and number two is whether whether Donald Trump lied Robert Muller. You'll remember that trump did not sit down for a verbal interview with Robert Me answered written questions and answer to one of those questions actions. He said that he didn't recall discussing wikileaks with Roger Stone. You may get some testimony from Steve Bannon and Rick Gates about that and so if I were at trump trump camp I would be watching this trial very nervously. And what about Mr Stone himself when you met him. What did he say about the possibility that he would get caught up in Mr Melissa investigation? Well all I ask them exactly that question at lunch and he said it's a it's a line that I still remember. He said I don't worry. I make other people worry whether he would repeat that line today as his trial looms. I don't know but it was a it was a wonderful bit of bluster at the time About the substance of the charges. He had a very. I want to get this quote. Exactly right from transcript. What he said is there is no evidence or proof and no one can honestly say that I had advanced notice of the source or the content? The exact release date of the wiki leaks material either stolen or I should say allegedly stolen and allegedly hacked to my mind that is a very lawyerly. Non Denial Denial He also said during our lunch that you know his testimony before the House Intelligence Committee was basically truthful and he may have said some things that were wrong but they were immaterial and inconsequential in the indictment against him alleges. That's not not the case that his false statement for both consequential immaterial well regardless of what happens with this trial and and presuming. Mr Stone is available to take lunch dates. Would you take with them in a heartbeat anytime. Why is that because he has? He has good stories and he has a central role in this in this drama. That's unfolding right now. He has insight he has history talk about. He's an interesting conversationalist John. Thank you very much for joining
