A strong earthquake has shaken the northwest of Nepal killing over 150 people. of Most those killed were crushed by the debris from their homes which are mostly made of wooden rocks that crumbled the force of the tremor overnight. The rescue effort was hampered by the fact that many of the mountainous villages could only be reached by foot. The earthquake also triggered landslides which blocked roads again limiting access to areas. some One injured survivor, Biman Kumar Kharki, was sleeping when his home began to shake violently. He added, I tried escaping but half my body got buried in the debris. screamed I but every one of my neighbours were in the same situation and screaming for help. It took almost an hour for him to be rescued. Tense food and medicine were flown into the area by Nepal's government as thousands became homeless overnight. I'm Karen Chammas. More more U and .S. cities are considering ending the right on red traffic law that allows drivers to make a right hand turn at an intersection as long as the coast is clear. After a dramatic spike in automobile crashes that have killed or injured pedestrians and bicyclists, cities like Washington, D .C. and Ann Arbor, Michigan, have approved a ban on right on red. Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle are considering those changes, too, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association. More than 7 ,500 pedestrians were

"My son's BMW that I bought so that's yes because usually you have a driver so I was just skinned there's no driver I you know I love to nobody drives more than Dennis I just I just did another round trip to Arizona I mean I'm I have it's no exaggeration I have driven over a million miles in my life that's how much you've probably been on the air a million hours now now it just goes never oh by the way let's get right to the college football here obviously the big story come that -from -behind win for number seven Washington against number eight Oregon 36 to 33 Michael next junior with a late touchdown throw and the Ducks had a chance a 43 -yard field goal at the end of the second half but Camden Lewis pulled it just a little bit right missed it and staying perfect are the dogs and everybody rushing the field afterwards as they were playing that one at home six of them on the season is Galen DeBoer's squad 6 -0 is where number three Ohio State is 41 to 7 after their win against Purdue number two Michigan stays perfect 52 to 7 a takedown against Indiana first ranked Georgia found a way to repel Vanderbilt 37 to 20 and Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck at 261 yards passing one touchdown and one interception Mike Norvell in number four Florida State flooring it past Syracuse 41 to 3 6 -0 the Seminoles six and one go number 11 Alabama they got scared at the end they're nearly coughed up a lead Arkansas holding it close but it was 24 to 21 in Tuscaloosa in favor of the Crimson Tide a win for 16th ranked Utah by 2034 to 14 in a Pac -12 showdown against Cal number six Penn State just demolishes UMass 33 to nothing a win for number 19 Tennessee 20 to 3 against Texas A &M and Jimbo Fisher and one upset there weren't many so far Oklahoma State 39 number 23 Kansas 32 so OSU gets the big win that's their second win in conference and of course coming up here in a matter of moments the number 21 Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosting number 10 USC but Ephraim and Steve as I send it back to you we know that's that yeah a great game but there's another game at the top of the hour yes in Hawaii yes yes UCLA Oregon State well San Diego State won another game as you know four -game losing streak what happened at Air Force hey man holy mac I can't I don't even give me star we have enough time in the show just unbelievable I'd be fan and you will be postgame locally after that UCLA Oregon State game is that correct that is right Bruin talk it'll be about an hour or so after the postgame Learfield but then we'll do an hour of Bruin talk and we'll be taking calls so Ephraim and Steve and company I expect guys you to call in and I was I was tempted the other day to call you but honestly I was so entranced by everything you were saying I couldn't move I just said incapable of actually calling you was unbelievable great job be fan as always thank you so much once again we're coming to you live from the tire rack com studios I one game I wanted to ask you about coming up this week it's actually not tomorrow it's gonna be Monday night game Chargers are hosting the Cowboys I say hosting it literally will be 90 percent cowboy fans at SoFi Stadium I mean that's no exaggeration maybe even a percent hundred but at least 90 percent cowboy fans is that the Monday night game that's the Monday night game so again I was gonna I was gonna take my boys cuz we we go to a Charger game every year cuz my younger son's a huge Chargers fan we have decided to go to the Chargers Raiders game in Vegas this year which is coming up in December okay so because I want to see Allegiant Stadium but let's get back to this game the Cowboys went into that 49er game at least what we heard Dak Prescott say after the game with great limitations Jerry Jones is desperate to go to another Super Bowl it's almost 30 years now since their last Super Bowl appearance 28 years to be exact is Dak go ahead finish they can get this team to where Jerry Jones wants to get him no what's missing um mistake -free football because he played so well early in his career he had that injury maybe hasn't been a hundred percent since then I don't know well it was similar to Tony Romo mm -hmm when you look at Tony Romo the talent is there but what was the thing that Tony Romo didn't have to take them to that next level no matter how good the team was and they've had some good teams just like Dak has had good some teams there's a thing right and even though we look at Brock Purdy and his small sample size yes the thing we're talking about is I see it in Brock you don't make unnecessary mistakes so you're not going to stack the deck against you or your team there teams in the playoffs so when you get there and you turn the ball over now you you're stacking the deck against your team this is what we're seeing we just watched it happen on Sunday Night Football you had some cream puffs the first quarter of the season then you run into a real team just so happens to be the best team in the league with the defense and an offensive line that wouldn't let you run rough shot on the opposing quarterback yeah the Cowboys you boys have beaten the Giants the Jets and the Patriots hey man so is everybody else and they lost to Arizona Bona only team to do that and and got humiliated by the matters and so now you're like okay well what is the problem Dak talked about how personal this game was and the playoff loss last year and so on and so but what happens is you put yourself in the situation where the lights become hot they become bright and they burn and that's a lot of pressure ask Kirk Cousins and that's the vein I put that Prescott in without the real arm talent like her cousin has because her to burn up the feet on pace storm for six thousand yards this year but the decision -making and the ability to

"I want to thank Charlie. He's an incredible guy. His spirit, his love of this country. He's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created, Turning Point USA. We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country. That's why we are here. Brought to you by the loan experts I trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific Mortgage at andrewandtodd.com. So we haven't touched on this, but as some of you may or may not know, I am a college football fanatic. I know that it's a contradiction. Charlie, you say don't go to college. You say they're all Marxist hell holes. I get it. I fully acknowledge it. You can call me a hypocrite. You could say that it's a double standard. I don't care. I love college football. I love everything about it. I love the unpredictability. I love the recruiting. I love the authenticity of the players. I love all of it. I love the crowds, love the passion. I love the regalia. I love the play calling, the innovation. The NFL is nowhere nearly as entertaining, in my personal opinion, as college football. So I've been a college football aficionado for years, and my family all went to the University of Oregon, and we become huge. I was a huge Ducks fan growing up, a major Ducks fan, and remained one. I mean, when I mean major, it's like the day the earth stood still when the Ducks arrived. Anybody in my inner circle will tell you that it's not even a joke. You pay attention, you watch it, right? And so I watch the Ducks, love the Ducks. I've had a chance to get to know a lot of players, both former and current members on the staff. Just great, great people. And I know I'm gonna get emails, Charlie, University of Oregon, super liberal. I don't care, okay? This is the one thing I carve out in my life that I enjoy. So grant me a little bit of mercy in that. So there's this the number one story in basically all of sports, and one of the largest stories in American culture has been Prime Time, Deion Sanders. Now, I saw Deion take the University of Colorado job in the spring. I think it was early winter. I was like, wow, that's interesting. I just kind of stopped thinking about it. Now, to say that Colorado was bad last year is like, you can't even say that. Colorado was one and 11, one and 11. That's at the bottom of the barrel. They were the worst program in FBS, as bad as it gets. I mean, worse than, you know, Iona, okay? The trash heap of college football. So Deion comes in and it's pretty legendary what he did. As he said, basically, I am not going... He did this in a very creative way because you can't revoke a scholarship. I think you get 86 scholarships in FBS college division one football. He comes in and he says basically to 83 out of 86, I'm not going to play you. I'll honor your scholarship, but you're not on the team. Basically kicked off 80... Effectively kicked 83 people off the team and kept like three linemen, like purging the entire team. So then he became the transfer portal landing pad, including his very talented two sons, Chador and Shiloh Sanders. So he brings in all new people and we're like, oh, what are we going to make of this, right? And Deion runs his mouth. And I have a lot of negative things to say about Deion that I think I don't like about him. But I also, there's some things I really like about him. His faith, his love of Jesus, his unapologetic Christian evangelism. He wears a JC on the side of his shirt, which is Jesus Christ. And it drives the liberals at Boulder crazy. I know this. I was just talking to a regent this last weekend. There's like an inner revolt at CU Boulder to try to get Deion Sanders to not have JC, Jesus Christ on his shirt that he wears during the game. But it's prime time, everybody. So they have nothing to say. So I mean, I read the college football blogs and honestly, I follow him on social media. He posts stuff like this. He posted this just yesterday. God made you different for a reason. Don't change. He acknowledges that there is a God, that you are not him. Honestly, praise God that one of the top people on the American cultural landscape is not some sort of bitter atheist Marxist. I'll get into the negative parts of Deion because there's plenty of them. But that needs to be said. I am cheering for his faith. The more he talks about the faith, I think that's a good thing for the country. OK, so I was following the college football blogs over the summer and we didn't know what to make of it. And then I was on vacation, obviously watching college football, and it was Colorado versus TCU. Now, remember, TCU was in the national title game last year against Georgia. They beat Michigan in the college football playoff. They were a great team and they were bringing back a lot of players from last year's incredible run all the way to the college football playoff where they got blown up by Georgia. So here's Colorado, the worst team. They go one and eleven last year versus TCU, who went eleven and one or like twelve and one. And I think their only two losses was basically, I think they lost in the Big 12 championship game to Kansas State and then they lost to Georgia in the national title game. And Colorado beats them. And so everyone just starts going nuts. They go wild. What is this? And it becomes primetime. Now, to say this became a phenomenon would be an under... It would hype train off the rails. College game day goes. There's this also like cheap man's competitor on called Big Noon Sunday with like all the washed up guys, Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush and Urban Meyer, which I think is hilarious because Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush both played together. And Brady Quinn, who was also the quarterback at Notre Dame at the time. And they all kind of host this. It's a little bit of like a cheap man's college game day. They are now going back to Colorado for the third time to do their live college game day show the third time. It's hype off the rails. It was just out of control. And then Nebraska with a new coach, not very good. Matt Ruhl comes and Colorado blows him out. And so they just got out of control completely and totally out of control. And Dion is Dion. I mean, Dion, you can't look away from him, right? He's wearing sunglasses, a hat. He's got energy. He's got passion. And his players and sons, let's just say they they talk a little bit too much. But just look, I appreciate. Look at this kind of this kind of attitude. OK, play cut 131. What is your mindset when people have opinions? What do you do with that? Do you just block it out? I don't care. Look at me. What about me would make you think that I care about your opinion of me? Your opinion of me is not the pain that I have of myself. You ain't make me so you can't break me. You didn't build me, so you can't kill me. I love it, but I don't care. And I wish the world thought like that. Youngsters, if you're out there right now, do not give a darn what opinions people have of you long as that opinion is not consistent of that of yourself. You be you. I'm not planning to make you feel good about me. I already feel good about me. I'm good. Now, this is a fact you can hate on Dion. And I certainly am going to offer some criticism in a second. But the dude was a legendary athlete. Here's a fact. He's the only player ever to play in a Super Bowl and a World Series. That's right. He was not a two sport athlete. He was an excellent two sport athlete. He was very good at baseball, like very good playing for both the Braves and the Falcons. Unheard of. I mean, Michael Jordan tried, but not even close to being as good. Like Dion Sanders did not do baseball for fun. He was a great baseball player. And he has a ton of, he's got like five kids and they are all pretty close. So coming into this weekend, Colorado was undefeated. They came from behind in a game that was far too close against Colorado State. And Norvell, the coach of Colorado State, was talking a big game. My mama told me not to do press conferences with sunglasses and a hat on. And look, Colorado plays into this, right? They say, oh, you know, they made it personal. They made it personal. They made it personal. They made it personal. Let's play cut 129. 60 minutes dedicated half their show to prime time. Play cut 129. Who's the best coach in college football today? Let me see. Let me see a mirror so I can look at it. You feel that? You think I'm going to sit up here and tell you somebody else? You think you think that's the way I operate? That somebody else got that on me? Now, here's what drives me nuts, and we're going to segue this into the next segment. Instead of talking about Dion's faith, how he empowers his kids, how he empowers his student athletes about how he pushes them. The media, of course, of course, makes this about race. CNN.com. They hate Dion Sanders because of his audacious blackness.

"I'm just saying. All right. We'll take a quick break, man. The show has flown by last segment coming up. Stay there. Live from studio six B real America's voice. We'll be back stud. Yeah. All right. Live from studio six B real America's voice. Um, I guess I've spurred, some, some talk on the chat and also within the studio here, I'm getting pictures sent to me about what this alien thing looks like. Master Yoda, according to King Chris could be, let's see a bunch of other people are chiming in. Oh my goodness. It's been flying so flying past so quickly. Looks like Feinstein could be, could be gypsy. You know what? Very good. You know, bring up that picture again. The, the, the real one, not, not the, uh, the movie stuff. It could be fine. It could be, that could be, that could be a sleeping Diane Feinstein. Maybe they caught her napping and mistakenly put her into a box and brought her to the Mexico. Maybe that's why we don't see her. Homo sapius Pelosi is that could be Nancy Pelosi could be gypsy. Four 24 said aliens can travel throughout deep space, but they always crash in corn fields when they get here. That's true because it's a cornfield. Throw everything off. It's the, uh, the radiation coming from the corn. I think this whole thing's getting corny. Uh, GRH, 43, 45 says, it looks like et and Delgado had a baby. No, it doesn't. God, Oh baby. Yes. And just like Stacy, uh, T in the chat along with David Zier said the same thing. Have they tested the DNA? I don't think they've done that yet, David. So there you have it. Um, paper mache. I don't think it's paper mache because it was in a box and it was buried. So the diorama nature of a bummy, a mummy, a mummy, that's a mummy. That's a mummy or daddy. And haven't you ever seen the small skulls with the elongated skull, you know, the small, the elongated skulls coming out of a central America. You've never seen that. If you've never seen that in Africa because they put rings around their necks to extend their necks, right? But they also would, would tie up their heads tightly and their skulls would elongate. And the theory was they were doing this as a, uh, as a tribute to, to the, uh, the visitors so much for stop playing with that. Your face will stay like that. Right? Exactly. Wrap your head up like that. Nice and tight. And it'll stay like that. So there you have it. All right. So, uh, let's see, what do we got? I'm surprised I haven't heard a word out of Slick Rick right now. I'm expect, you know, damn it. You let me down. I thought you were going to skewer me. We're going to let this train wreck derail itself. I'm letting you, I'm letting you just orbit yourself. All right. Let's do some sports with Slick Rick. Uh, sports brought to you by Slick Rick sports by Mike Lindell's, my pillow, go to my pillow.com. Use our code LFS six B at checkout. Remember use our code at checkout and save your receipt from Mike. So you can get the shirt of the month, which is available. All you got to do is send the receipt that you get from my pillow that States what you bought. Um, using our code, send that in, send a copy of it and boom, you're good. You're golden. You get the shirt, include your size that you want, um, and what color and you know, the shirt of the month. Um, and you'll be getting it courtesy of, uh, live from studio six B. So, uh, Damon says he, they're a little behind trying to get things out, but hopefully they'll be able to speed things up this week. In the meantime, Slick Rick, what do you got for sports? Well, don't forget tomorrow night while the odds makers in the first hour, we'll have our picks. Aaron will work on her picks as well as I'll have mine. So you're going to want to tune in and catch that probably first sports segment around eight 20 tomorrow night. And speaking of a football, we got the NFL update here. The Vikings, uh, drove all the way down, low territory there and the Eagles trying to drive it in Eagles defense comes up big, stops them and ends up taking the lead. Now it's 13 to seven at the half. Good game. And what do you know? The Eagles are even with the spread cause the spread on that game was about six points and they're up by six. Boy, the odds makers are good. And NFL, uh, NCAA games right now, Navy and Memphis tied at 21. Uh, another good game in the third, back and forth. Miami absolutely blew out Bethune. Not a good game. 41 nothing. Two minutes to go there in the third. And here's an interesting story. Speaking of NCAA college division one football, Colorado state coach Jay Norvell blasted for cringe-worthy smack talk directed at Dion Sanders, Eric smithing of yard Barker. This went on earlier today, Colorado state head coach Jay Norvell became one of the biggest jokes on the internet after he tried and failed horribly trash talking Colorado head coach Dion Sanders. Norvell criticized Sanders for wearing sunglasses and a hat during an ESPN interview saying, when I talk to grownups, I take my hat and glasses off. That's what my mother taught me. Norvell was singing a slightly different tune earlier in the week when he said Dion Sanders had one of the, had a lot of public critics. I'm not one of them. That is, that is, uh, except when it comes to doing something as irrelevant as his wardrobe with, for that what it's worth Sanders has been civil in the comments toward Norvell telling reporters earlier this week that he has the utmost respect for the Rams coach, the on taking the class act way per odds checker. The Buffalo's are 23 point favorites ahead of the Rocky mountain showdown. You don't say don't poke the bear or in this case, the Buffalo, uh, the game might get ugly, but nothing Colorado state doesn't say they will be anywhere near as cringe-worthy as Norvell's weak insult lobbed at Sanders with Colorado at two nothing. Sanders can wear whatever he pleases whenever he wants. Norvell meanwhile, should leave the trash talking to the pros. This has now become the biggest story actually in sports is what Dion Sanders has done with this team leaving. I believe it was Jackson state. He left them earlier, uh, you know, earlier this year, went on to go to coach Colorado, who really was not a good team. They were on the bottom end there in the NCAA and he's brought them an hour up to an 18th ranked team in the AP top 25 from literally nowhere. And if he wins another game or two, you're going to see that team in the top 10 possibly competing for the playoffs. So good for kudos for, uh, prime time reinventing himself again, great football player, great baseball player, great, uh, analyst on TV. This man is nothing he can do wrong. He's got the Midas touch. So let him wear his glasses in the hat, leave the man alone. That's a wrap. And when it comes to the Colorado state, I mean, Colorado state, they gotta be, they gotta be celebrating. We're going to get a national game. Who the hell has ever watched a Colorado state football game on national TV? They pull skim milk. Yeah, exactly. They basically, they've been the Kamala Harris of college football. Yeah, exactly. He knows him. Nobody likes him. Uh, but now they're going to be on display on, unfortunately their coaches kind of put it on the players. Like, you know, you got way to go coach. Yeah. They should run up the score, but who knows, you know, how football is, they'll end up upsetting them. And you know, what's amazing about Dion and I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before. Um, yeah, well, well, in terms of him coming out of high school now, now this is before the internet, this is before social media, all this stuff. This guy was a phenom in high school in every sport in track. I believe he was a state champion. Yeah. Um, and w you know, was like 400 meter runner, all that stuff. Um, he played basketball. He, he basically played every sport and he probably could have gone pro and in probably any sport. That's the crazy part. Football and baseball at one point playing for the Braves and the Cowboys on the same day, he had two games. I mean, the guy was just absolutely. And he also spent time with the Yankees as well, doing the same thing, same thing as a Bo Jackson. Right. But when it came to Dion Sanders, and again, down in Southwest Florida, that, that Fort Myers, Naples area, that's where he's from. He came back there. I was, that was my first ever radio gig, a full-time radio gig down at a 96 K rock in Fort Myers. And we were doing a, you know, Dallas Cowboys came to town because Dion brought them in as a part of a fundraiser and they did a basketball game. You're talking about guys when he was on the team. It's like, what, Leon, let those kinds of guys like, like these guys were like six, four, 325, 350 pounds running back and forth in his old high school gym. And we're sitting there watching this and these guys are, are skiing. We're talking there, they're grabbing the basketball banging it against the backboard and slamming it down. This is the caliber of athletes. These guys were and Dion was better than them. I believe it because it was insane to watch. So anyhow, I just thought I'd share that kind of crazy when it comes to Dion Sanders and everything he's done. David's here. Any parting words before we wrap for tonight, tell everybody where they can catch you on Saturday, Saturday morning, 8 AM breaking point, real America's voice news. I'll be on the ground tomorrow with you guys. You know, from Washington with Trump's speech at the family research council. And then we got cash Patel coming to the America first warehouse, October 17th. Very excited. We're going to air that on RAV. And I got a lot going on in the warehouse has Rudy Giuliani and border nine one one coming September 29th. Exciting. RAV will be on the ground next week in South Carolina, two near the Charleston area for the Trump's speech in Somerville. And you'll be on the ground tomorrow night as well. Tomorrow night I'll be on the ground. Pray vote stand summit starting at 9 PM. We'll be here live starting at eight, doing all the coverage for you live on a real America's voice. We thank you for joining us at always. We salute all the first responders out there all of active and retired military members. Thank you for all that you do. Police, fire department, EMS, truck drivers, everybody working the front lines. We appreciate you. "Welcome back America to you. This is a do-over because my favorite guest at ALEC other than Lisa Nelson is Danny Perez and the Florida state legislator. And he was here yesterday with Duane when I was stuck in Newark. And I heard all about it. And we can't have him on with Duane and not talk to him. So Danny is back. Danny, welcome. I'm sorry you had to put up with Duane yesterday. I'm sure it was awful. It's like having to do a marathon in 110 degrees, but you're back. And so thank you for coming back. Thanks for having me. I'm going to be honest. We held our own yesterday. We missed you and your listeners missed you. But Duane and I, we kind of held our own. We were able to hang it, kick it. We were able to have some good conversation. All right. Now I could have fun with you for a long time, but I don't want to have fun with you. I want to find out about Florida education because honest to goodness after in Newark, all I did was read Christopher Rufo, America's cultural revolution. Rufo is now on the board of New College, I believe. And New College is one of those stories that the left wants you to fail so badly. So what are you doing to higher ed? Then we're going to talk about primary ed and school choice. But what did you do at New College? Because the state set that up. The governor made it happen. Governor DeSantis. And it's a radical revolution. I want to know how applications are doing. The truth is we wanted to apply free speech. And it's literally that simple. Because what was happening in New College before President Corcoran was appointed by the BOG, by the Board of Governors to take over that college and be the president. By the way, former Speaker of the House in Florida. The only thing that people wanted to see at New College, that leadership and administration wanted to see at New College were like-minded individuals as far left as you can get with absolutely no diversity, which is what they were trying to preach. They wanted the same person that was thinking the same way and speaking the same talking points. What we're doing is we're allowing free speech. We want everyone to have a seat at the table. And that includes the conservatives. We don't only want conservatives. If a liberal applies, they can come to New College as well. But that's completely different than what we had before Richard Corcoran got there, where not one conservative was able to freely speak their mind without being persecuted. And so what we're doing at New College is we're trying to instill conservative values for those that are willing to talk about it. Even if you're a liberal and you want to talk about it, it's okay. But this DEI pitch that's happening across the country here in Florida, we're not going to stand for it. And at New College, we're going right at it. First, the governor replaced the board or the state legislature replaced the board. I'm not quite sure how it happened. But Matt Spalding, my friend, is on there. Rufo is on there. A bunch of great people. I'm not going to be upset that nobody called me. I'm not going to take that personally. But what happened to the application pool? Because what matters is how many people apply. That is the ultimate indicator of success of a college. I have to tell you something. I want you to go back and watch the videos of the interviews of Richard Corcoran before he was chosen to be the president of New College. It was something out of a movie. There's going to be a Netflix documentary at some point about New College's turning of the page. They were persecuting Richard Corcoran like you couldn't believe. And everyone said the school would absolutely fail, that no one wanted to go to school that had the values of President Corcoran and Governor DeSantis and the leadership of New College. Well, surprise, surprise, record applications have turned into New College to where now it's just a matter of how much more funding can we get to New College so we can grow the school to be as prosperous and as large as possible. Because people are just lining up to get to New College to where we're actually at capacity. And now we're trying to figure out how we can move people around because we want everyone to come to Florida. And if New College is where they want to go, well, so be it. The number one state university system in the country is here in Florida. In the country, number one. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. It's actually in Ohio, but we will discuss that another time. California is the worst. And I want to go back to what, they used to play football down here, but Miami, Florida State, University of Florida, I don't know what happened to them. Oh my gosh. And so let's talk about DEI generally in the higher ed. So you got an easy go yesterday. You're talking to a guy that didn't know anything about DEI, the anti-DEI. Because what I did when I read Rufo's book, I said, my God, how do we undo this? There are a million DEI administrators at every level of American public education. Florida is the edge. Florida is making it happen. What are you going to do at Florida State? You're an alma mater or something. I'm a Florida State guy, yes sir. The Gators at Florida, my friend, Captain Vanderhoppe, can't spell, can't, he can ship, he can sail, stuff like that. He's a Florida guy. Miami used to play basketball, used to play football. What are you going to do about these state universities that are overwhelmed with DEI bureaucrats? Unfortunately, I have to admit that the DEI thought process has infiltrated every single corner of this country, including Florida. And before last session started, if you would have gone on Florida State University, University of Florida, any university system and looked at a job application, within the details of that job application, you would have seen a paragraph about DEI and talking about their, inside the application process, their thought process on what they thought DEI meant to them and how they were diverse in their own right. And that was part of the application process to become an employee of these universities. That has since changed. We have been able to infiltrate the university system and tell them that you need to hire the best person for the job. You don't need to hire someone because they abide by these DEI policies that, quite frankly, don't matter on how good or bad you can do at your job. Do we want diversity? Of course. I mean, look, I'm a Cuban guy. I am as diverse as it gets. A young Cuban guy who's a conservative in Miami, which is historically a blue county, Miami-Dade County. So of course diversity is important, but that shouldn't be the wherewithal where people can say this is the only reason you're going to get hired into the institution. So we've absolutely broken down into the university system and taken that out of our state school system. However, more important to your question, when talking about sports, Florida State University right now is about to take over the college football world. Mike Norvell, if you're not a believer here, if you're not a believer, I'm going to tell you something. When this show is over and you and Dwayne get in your little car, because it's a two-seater, I'm sure, probably a Mazda Miata, you put down the top, it's a little convertible. I can picture you guys rolling down the streets of Orlando in your Mazda Miata. I want you guys to talk about Florida State football because Mike Norvell is bringing back the Seminoles whether you like it or not. You know who's listening right now? Urban Meyer is listening. That's fine. Urban left Florida to go to Ohio State because he knew where real football was played. But I digress. I want to go back to the, you've got to get your law schools back. Law schools are where we turn out radicals, right? And they only hire radicals. So you got to get a grip. The way that you took over New College is like a, and by you I mean the Florida State government, the governor, backed by the legislature. I think you've legislated on DEI, haven't you? Have you demanded that the university stop? It's all unconstitutional as heck. It's completely unconstitutional. Have you demanded that we stop? We have. We've demanded it and as far as I'm concerned you, I haven't seen it since our last session which is when we were able to infiltrate the system and demand that we take that out of our university system. The law school process is very interesting because although it is part of the university system, it is the law school at Florida State for example, it is part of the Florida State University. But when we're looking at the details of DEI and where it's infiltrated most, we're looking at just regular undergraduate body. The law school sometimes at every university sometimes get left out and to your point, it's probably where DEI is the worst. Absolutely. There are 95% left wing every law school in America. Those are the most critical thinkers that we have in our state. They're at the law schools. And you have to get controlled hiring. And you have to say your faculty is not hiring, faculty is not governing. This is a taxpayer funded institution we're taking over. Hugh, I'm going to ask you a question here because I've been battling this for a while. And what we're having here is a system where professors that are bad for the future generations of America are tenured and are staying there forever. And so the battle that we're having right here in Florida is how do we take that away from a professor who is just wrong for the next generation of America but allowing our state universities to still compete with all the other universities in the country because we got to keep good professors here. But with these tenures that they're having, they're so safe that they go against the grain in a wrong way. I am tenured. I'm a tenured member of the Fowler School of Law at Chapman University and I treasure my tenure because I can say whatever I want and they can't throw me out. But I don't work for a state college. I work for a private college. You can end tenure tomorrow in the legislature. You're the speaker design and then you're the speaker. I know your job is political this year and then legislative really when you're speaker.

"And we're back. What a show it's been. Lane kiffin joining us in the first hour, some very strong comments on NIL and tampering, including strong allegations about one of his best players, if not his best player. We also had Michael Bratton on who laid the SmackDown on Nick Saban again. Tom van herring joining us in a minute and he's talking about the transfer portal. It opens again tomorrow, free agency is what kiffin called it. And what will happen in this window, Tom van Heron, from ESPN, joining us. Tom, thanks for the time, as always, I wonder, you've done a pretty good survey of around the country. Where are we right now with this final window before the season? Well, there's chaos is how most coaches and personnel directors have described this. I think a lot of them are expecting that this spring portal is probably going to be a little more quiet than the December portal. In that December window, we saw over 2700 players enter the portal over 1300 where FBS players. So I don't think we're going to see as many as we did in December, but I think what everyone is expecting from the personnel directors and coaches that I've talked to, you know, if there are some maybe quarterbacks who don't win out there, their job went out in their quarterback competition. Are they going to enter the portal? Some freshmen if they're not happy after the few months that they've been on campus. Are they going to enter the portal? And as you mentioned, what lane kiffin talked about was tampering and coaches contacting players and other rosters is that going to entice players to enter the portal. And you mentioned the story that I did. I actually talked to some coaches who said that they've had agents reach out to their players and say, hey, if you go to this school, if you transferred to this school, I can get you X amount of dollars and get you a spot there. So there is a ton going on with the transfer portal. Maybe not as wild as December this time around, but I think coaches are definitely preparing for some guys to enter and maybe some quarterbacks and other positions available to add to their roster as well. Tom, let's talk about some of those stories that you learned in your reporting. What stood out? Well, like I said, I think the month of December was especially chaotic. I talked to Brian Kelly and he said, you know, he was trying to manage his roster and his team trying to prepare for the SEC championship game and the transfer portal opened a few days later, and it's not just players coming in that you've got to go and recruit. He also had to know what players were leaving. And who he was losing from his roster. And then they had to manage the early signing period with high school recruits as well. And so I think that whole month for coaches and personnel directors was just really, really hard to manage. I talked to Sonny dykes at TCU, who said he had 5 official visitors on campus, the week of the national championship game, trying to prepare for that game and balancing recruiting. And I talked to some people at Florida state, Derek gray, who said that he and Mike norvell hit 13 different states in the month of December, which is incredible to think about. And so I think all of them were trying to explain how chaotic that month was for them and talking to Brian Kelly. He said the SEC coach has actually put together what they think maybe is a hypothetical solution for it in that they wouldn't open the portal up right away. They would try to focus on the high school prospects first. Focus on the early signing period, wrap that up, and then once the early signing period is done, maybe a couple days after that, then you open up the transfer transfer portal window, then you can focus on the transfers who's going in, who's going out and try to manage it a little bit better that way, but Paul, as you know, if you create one rule, it creates problems for other people as well. And so that rule, if that were to be proposed, if it were to be implemented, it's going to cause some other problems, mainly with academics and trying to get prospects and players admitted into school on time for the semester to start. And so I think the biggest theme that I came across with this story was coaches think that there may be a better solution out there, but none of them really have the solution or what it really is and what would placate everyone or what would help everyone in this situation. So I think all of them are a little bit puzzled, but I think they're kind of rolling with it and going and knowing that this is going to happen and it's a part of the game now. Talking to Tom here in a VSP and Tom are adapting some continue to fight it. What did you learn in terms of who's doing well and who's struggling with this new world we all are living in. I mean, some coaches have absolutely embraced it, some haven't. Clemson and Davos Sweeney, he doesn't want to use it. And he hasn't used it. He hasn't lost a ton of players either. And I think once they start to lose, or if they do start to lose players, he may have to reevaluate that. But he's been okay so far. And then I've been surprised Alabama has brought in a few players, but they lost some players to the transfer portal. And I think a lot of people looked at it and said, you know, these were backups, or these are guys that didn't play. But if you look at who transferred out, Tommy brockermeyer was a former 5 star offensive lineman. He went to TCU a couple other Alabama players went to TCU. JoJo Earl is one. And even though they didn't play at Alabama, those are good players for TCU and it helps TCU stay at that consistent level of championship football that they want to be at. And so

"They went out and they did tried to basically reinvent broadcasts for baseball on Friday night and I'm not a huge baseball guy, but it sounds like that was pretty universally objective from the people who watch games every Friday night. When Amazon did it the best of both worlds. You get out Michaels, somebody everybody's comfortable with Christa Johnson and somebody who's obviously been on broadcast for a long time. Kirk curve should everybody at least know something. Listen, I come from a college football family. And the reverence, including from myself of Kirk herb street, is unbelievable. I'm not sure necessarily a football people, NFL people necessarily get it now, but if I was on fire on my living room at home in Orlando and Kirk herb street was on TV, talking about the Gators next four games. My parents would be like, Kevin, can you stop? Kirk's breaking down, what do you think about Napier? Or Mike norvell or any of these guys, right? And so he can build that really quickly, I think, on the NFL level. And then Rick Sherman has been great. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been great. Andrew will work his balance on these day in the past month, has been wonderful. I think that it's doing a really good job of incorporating new voices into a format to everybody's pretty familiar with. So I have no complaints at all. And I think that it was always, you know, you always hear these stories, anything on an NFL broadcast has to basically be run by as far as personnel and as far as changes go has to be looped in with the NFL league office. So they're not going to let you hire some stand up comedian, you know, put them on the pre game show unless I know everybody say that it's not. No, no, no, no, no. I'll let you finish then. Oh, no, I'm just saying there's a limit to the weirdness because, you know, Brian Kurtz, I joked by this all the time. He's coming on Friday. We'll probably joke about it on his day. But it's like, sometimes networks will try something with other sports. And I'll text Curtis and be like, Goodell would have just shut this broadcast off 5 minutes into this. If this were happening, I actually forget what examples it is. But sometimes you'll see stuff and you're just like, man, the NFL would never do this level of experimentation. Usually that means it's bad or they tried it and they bricked it. The NFL is only going to be able to really innovate by like 10% a year. And so I think within those parameters, Amazon is an awesome well, I have a lot to say here. I mean, one, you'll never make it if you ever want to go into the media critic world if you have nothing negative to say. That's just not how it works. I have some great news. Brian Curtis is a wonderful media critic for the ringer dot com. That job is not open. And it's a lecture that will not serve. You can never, ever say I have nothing negative to say. I mean, but it's funny that you bring up the comedian stuff because I feel like they're pregame show has gotten attention twice this season. Once was when, well, it wasn't the pregame, but it was halftime when they basically took a pass on the tourist stuff when he had the concussion. And the other time was when they ran a clip from a show that's on Amazon Prime. I forgot the name of the show, but the comedian. Yeah. That clip, again, we're in that world where we're judging it based on Twitter reaction. But that was one of the most. Vicious vicious things I've seen on Twitter recently where the reaction to that was not good. Okay. I don't know him. I don't know what that show is. I haven't checked it out. That's the kind of thing where if you know you kind of got a dud there, don't put it on a halftime of a well watched game in front of 10 million people. Just I know maybe there was a deal in there, but just let that you know how that works. It's just come and go. And do some cross promotion. It didn't help the promotion did not help. It certainly did not help. I don't know anything about that show. I just saw the sim flip you did. I did not wasn't a lot of laughs coming from my M on that one. Yeah. I felt bad because I was like, this is, the way it got panned was pretty vicious. Yeah, listen, I have no complaints with the telecast. I think you really summed up herb street well. There's a gravitas there that you just, you know you're getting a real analysis of what's going on in Brazil. I wish the pregame show just it wouldn't be a cookie cutter pregame show, but and I've said this for years. I mean, you take and I like all the people on this. This isn't anything about the people on all those shows are great. But if you take the Fox pre game show, the CBS pregame show, the NFL network pregame show the ESPN pregame show the Amazon, they're all the same. It's amazing. Now you hit on a good point here because in my head, I'm thinking, how does nobody want to be different? How does nobody want to stand out? I mean, every show has 50 people, they do the same stories. And I do wonder if a lot of that is the NFL, the NFL is not going to let like you said there'd be a pregame show on a national network before a slate of games with people trying to do stand up and acting like clowns and not taking things seriously. But it is amazing to me that they're just all the same. I think that the NFL has two I wouldn't call them roadblocks, but there's a reason that they're all that a lot of the product looks the same. Number one is what you describe. The NFL would at least be like, what are you guys doing for some of the crazier experimentation if they tried? The other part is there's not a lot the casual fan is interested in in a way, we don't like you and I would really be interested in a breakdown of how chase young is developed over the past three years if it's a commander's game, right? But the reason 50 million people watch a playoff game is not because of you and I it's because of my mom and my dad, but when I used to start feature stories The Wall Street Journal and before every playoff and call my mom and I'd say, mom, who have you heard of? Who watches these games? And we go through what Aaron Rodgers Andrew Luck, what I remember he was just like 2015 and I was like, hey, you've heard Richard Sherman and she was like, oh yeah, Aaron Andrews guy. Like, you know, and I think we all overrate how much anybody knows, whatever. And so it really is like coach quarterback star player, you know? And I remember talking to somebody who was very big in this industry is very big in this industry where you have beers a couple of years ago. And he was like, they're dirty little secret is. You really only have to know no. Like half the quarterbacks in this movie, Becker tendencies. You don't have to watch tape on number 22 in the league, okay? You don't have to watch Taylor heinecke tape unless you're actually calling a command this game. I can't believe how many commanders references I made in the last 20 minutes, but I promise I'll do my last one. But and also even the insiders, like they really only have to check in on 5 guys for a team that they care about only buzz, only the top level stories. And so there's a limit on how deep you can get on those sort of shows. Like even me, like I love writing the stuff I write in the analysis and the features and all that stuff, but I'm probably not going to go to Arizona to write a story about anybody other than Kyle and Murray, cliff Kingsbury, cliff Kingsbury, JJ watt, the under Hopkins. Nobody else. Nobody else. And there are players that I respect deeply on that team and every team. But I'm not going to nobody's going to click on a story like that. But unless it tells you something bigger about this. And I think that pre game shows and postgame controls will have time operate on that on an extreme higher level, where if they talk about someone, I remember years ago at The Wall Street Journal, maybe 20, 13, 2014, maybe even later. They did a study of readers
