"Nba. This is chris palmer. Nba saying fsu has hit rock bottom. No culture no fight no effort poorly coach time for a coaching change. Mike norval must go. You've reached a special kind of bad when the people from the nba. You're coming over and his first bomber. I know he's got plenty of elza spare but make sure you pronounce the els in his last name. Dan did i not use it. Call the mike norval which he's begging for you because you just cut a couple of els out of off of his record but it's mike l. Not the most impressive thing that anyone did with els this week and you see after fresno state fresno state Hasn't been this good since the days of Moustachioed pat hill. That guy that is a bad man. Pat hill beats ucla. I think everybody was saying chip. Kelly was back beats. Ucla and then the fresno state twitter account puts up the hollywood sign with only the else good banter. There's a lot of good panter. West virginia had exit sandman and michigan. State did the thing where they took a turn the upside down which. I don't like normalizing. This is not okay not okay. it's not okay. Someone did that to me in atlanta and others are. We gonna have a problem i said. Hey good game and they turn the upside down that someone just going with the middle finger like this you. It's so disrespectful. Why don't we offer this. Are we going to have a problem. Is something i haven't heard since march schleyer spin it at you when you got into a twitter spat with him and then ran away. Yes which is very intimidating. Which is why. I just replicate it. Stay i was like a man. I i was very intimidating when he said we're going to have a problem here so now anytime i get new and almost confrontation just say that because i realized how disheartened i was doing it now. Very different body types marks lower than i. His neck is bigger than my torso. I thought the michigan state wide receiver was at neyland. I thought that he did it well. He scores a touchdown ends. The game jumps up in the air holds up the you and then flips it down and i sent you it in slow motion simply to enrage it's not it really is. It's not cool not cool. Did it work to incentive. We're making this a bit now. People are inventions. They can send it to me and we're not good. You're telling me off. And i don't like it. I take personal laughing. I swear to god don't do that to me. It's not a laughing. It's not a laughing matter. Do you catch me in the wrong moment. We're gonna have a problem. Is the upside down. "They lost to know what it was. Close yeah this guy now. Who's this kid. That had a horrible story. But now it's great comebacks during the almost one for florida state right so mackenzie milton is his name and it was was three years ago. He had a horrific leg injury he was playing for. Ucf at the time like harare. I guess it would not to get into details. Was his complete knee dislocation. Like oh okay. You're talking arteries and it was just horrific battles his way back all this time right over. What over a thousand days and works his way back. And as i guess there's some sort of allowance with the ncwa were grad student grad athlete. I don't know what it is right. Some exemption is able to make it onto the florida state team as a backup. The game happens versus notre dame. On saturday night he comes into the fourth quarter because the starter jordan trevor's lost his helmet. You have to take a playoff right. Well milton i play for a twenty two yard completions that keep them in three more completions after that. Drive ins and a two yard. Touchdown remains in the game through the regulation and in overtime. They almost one that came this close. Wow how awesome was that. That's incredible could for him. So is he starting at the next game. I don't know should be interesting to see since the only one the game for him. We have a quarterback controversy in tallahassee. I dunno it just. Isn't that great though that you know what it's always nice to watch somebody. Make a nice comeback like that. You know it's true. We love to see the mighty fall. But then we love to see the fallen. Come back from the ashes. I couldn't imagine being his parents watching him back in the field. He's been practicing the whole time. I get that. But i all i if it were my son. Don't even don't even bother coming home for christmas. Stay where you are. I you kidding me. I'd guilt him the italian guilt and get them. I wouldn't be able to watch him. I'd be too upset. So he transferred from ucf to florida. State hopes playing good for him. Coach mike norval made him no promises replaying times he just wanted an opportunity opportunity. Look at that for him..

"And i knew the judgement wasn't right so i did appeal and then i won the appeal court. How many years did it take from. Start to finish starting your first lawsuit and then to your victory on your second one. How many years did that take Well two thousand and ten was as we talked about. And then i think the trial was in two thousand seventeen and then the film You know came out and at the end of the first cut of the film. It says i lost which is where things were at when the film came out. But then i went to the appeal court in one so a new cut of the film was released. That says in a groundbreaking decision the appeal court. Overturned the initial ruling in what year was at two thousand eighteen almost like almost like a thirteen fourteen year journey. Because you bought the painting in two thousand and five and then at twenty ten at the art show you pulled it down so then from twenty ten until twenty eighteen proximate. Yep you know eight year journey almost. Yeah and there's there's more perry know the the film was the catalyst for reopened investigation by the police and It's not the end of the story. Tell us more about that. Sure i was on tour. And i got a call from a detective and thunder bay and he told me that he'd heard about the movie and he needed to see it and so i had a copy of the film sent to him and shortly thereafter. They opened a an investigation into the whole fraud. Situation and I have been working with the police whenever they need me to and They can't tell me everything but there has been a lot of progress made. They've they've interviewed a lot of people and You can expect to hear more so what we've learned an i. I've watched a documentary and there are no fakes. And what you learned is that Yeah the fix nor the nora morsel. Fakes the original ones. Don't have the signature on the back you know. They don't have that signature on the back and correct the drawing of the thunderbird on the back. They don't have that on the back. The original ones they. The original no remorse does have the the celebrex right on the front which refer yawn the front in that refers to his name. Copper thunderbird correct so so anything with on the back. Red flags automatically come up. That comes out pretty clear in the in the documentary. Yeah and i think one of the the hopes for this Investigation and all of this is that we will eventually sort of clear some of this muddiness and really bring back nor vows legacy and protect it because he is such an important and great artist. Well that's really what it's all about. You know guys like in a closing line the documentary you just said i just wanted to buy a painting and because novell more so is one of our heroes. He was so gifted and so talented. So spiritual So where does this story. Now stand in terms of investigations and the legacy of nora more so from your perspective. Can you make some comments on that. Sure well where there is the art perspective. But there's also the The social perspective you know when we learn of news as we learned you know in the last few weeks about residential schools And they're what they're finding and when you look at what we looked at in the film where there's there's young men who are leaving their communities just to further their education and they're being preyed upon there's A real connection and it really illuminates that. These problems continue and man and in different ways and so i think as we all try to work towards Truth and reconciliation and that's hard work and it's going to take a long time and commitment that all of these stories are important and they need to be heard as difficult as they are and that is my hope that that continues and that friendships and teamwork that i felt with You know dallas thompson and and other indigenous friends that i made along the way can act as an example and and can continue in other ways. Well kevin you're gifted musician in an artist and songwriter. And i know my partner valerie. And i went up to old crow. Von tech witching territory for new years. And i realized there was a collaboration. Between you in val on a song you guys were writing. And what are your thoughts on the collaboration there before we get to the issue in question on hope can you. Can you share about the song that you're you're you're writing with vowel. She wrote the lyrics. It's a it's called feet like feathers and it's a beautiful poetic lyrics. we have done A little demo of it but it needs a bridge. And i've been waiting for the bridge for about a year okay. Well that's a work in progress listener. That's work in progress. So you guys can continue working on the bridge together. Moving from that. One kevin. I want to. I always ask my guests on the podcast because this is such a tremendous story you know and you're you indeed our hero to dallas as a hero. The documentary carman's a hero for having the strength and the courage to come forward with their truth in their story about this fraud. Ring regarding the fake morrisseau paintings. But you're you're you're a hero for standing up and not giving up to seek the truth because it's the spiritual truth in that way too and now in canada with residential schools in atlanta covert nineteen in all the challenges. We have in canada. What gives you hope what gives me hope while perry Bruce cockburn has a song called lovers in a dangerous time. And there's a lyric in that song. That was my motto through this whole story and it is. You've got to keep kicking the darkness until it bleeds daylight and i think with all the conversations happening and people standing up for each other more and more in our communities. I think that's what we're doing as individuals and together. We're kicking the darkness till it bleeds daylight. We just gotta keep doing it. And that gives me hope. And that's a very powerful message to end our dialogue on. Kevin kevin hearn. Thank you so much for your leadership and your commitment to seek truth and justice regarding the the fake fraud ring of the northern. "At faneuil sportsbook twenty five to one if you believe in miracles happening and then coming out of the atlantic division their window their win total set at five. You do have to lay a dollar thirty. Should you to have an over bet on mike norval and company and when you look at florida state. There's no one better in terms of his level of engagement and being informed of what's going on in the program. Should we look at this as a true years. Zero for florida state and kind of say. Hey look last year might norville operating a pandemic. The deck was stacked against them but a lot of optimism. Starting to swirl that hey look it's going to be a slow process but florida state in a much better spot with a new head coach now than they ever were with some of his predecessors. I think this is your one right. And when willie taggart was fired. I think i told everyone that this was a five year. Plan for f- issue and mike norville this is a complete and total rebuilt from the ground floor right like from the office to the field like everything had to change and then co would hit and mike novell austere his own players. That were that he was trying to get buy in from he and really get it. He can only interact with them for like a couple of weeks. Before the shutdown he couldn't meet high school coaches in recruits face to face and for staff that didn't have a ton of florida ties like pretty big gut punch their right like eh. We're here. We're going to change this thing and she's like you. You can't get going so for me. You are starting to see what mike nirvana's staff can do when they're not hamstrung the creativity this offseason has been off the charts right midnight madness. A specific style of camp that you know was effective because pissed off on the other coaches within the state there is more organization. There is a clear direction in a game plan. Everyone is being held to a specific standard. And look. this is after three win. Season floor state right now. During the recruiting dead period has the number three class for twenty twenty two right. There's buying for boosters again. The boosters poll has expanded because right. They've gone online a little bit. The new An i l. stuff f- issue is been on the cutting edge of that. So you know. Twenty twenty two is recruiting classes. Going to i think shape. The direction of the program can f- issue keep top five class and that's ultimately. I think it'd be really interesting. You know they haven't. The class is really good right now and but there aren't like the true true difference makers and f- issues fighting for a lot of those guys right now. Marvin jones junior. Kevin coleman jalil skinner. Niger league kelly. Julian are mellow and elijah. Pritchard and dalen everett. Almost right like those guys are elite. Those are like change your program day one type of guys and all of them are looking for improvement and what the scheme looks like to join this class now. The positive is like mike. Nirvana staff have been delivering. The right message which was not the right message by willie taggart really taggart would have told everyone. They're gonna win a national championship on the routing trump. The message is honest. Right now right they're telling recruits this is going to be a long term process they're saying to recruits like aren't improvement. This season is five or six wins like are super bowl like season. His six wins in a bowl game. And i think that ultimately becomes the question. Todd can floors. They get to six wins. Well i think it's a great question because when you look at their schedule the schedule maker has done. No favors towards florida state and trying to build on some of that momentum when you look at their opener against notre dame there'll be a double digit dog. They're a relatively true. No no you don't think where do you think that number closes. We're seeing nine and a half ten ten and a half. Now is the consensus. You think comes way down. I i don't know. I just i i mean i'm not saying i necessarily agree with where the market's going but i'm saying what we're looking at as things stand right now in the latter portion of june is that we're at right now i mean. Let me pull it up because see Trust the auto ren- right. This is where it opened in. Like the eight and a half range and then there was a couple books out west that opens six and i as it stands right now the couple books we have out here on the west coast. It's ten and a half and it's as much as eleven offshore show in the last. What is it day or two. That's gotten smoked. It's been on the move a little bit. And i probably should look at our lovely parents. Cancer in this trying to navigate that without mentioning other books so but it mentioned other books. I said there are take. It's nine and a half right. So this is that while. I'm a little surprised by that. I'll be candid so this was. I was projecting this to be at eight and a half. And i spoke to someone who you know back in march. Who's notre dame guy and he was kind of in that same range and we were wondering right. Like is florida steak and a have a full fan base there and they will and then. I'm nearly certain one book out west or a couple books out. West opened even lower than the eight and six. I saw slow and a half. And so now we're out to i see some of the off-shores have opened or one specifically in a couple and we're at ten. I think that's interesting. i really do. I think that that number is is probably touch high at eleven. So it's a game. Of course it will cover in greater detail obviously the season inches closer and we do regular season breakdown but when you look at the rest of the schedule pain. I mean jacksonville. State we to let. That's a win. If it's not a win that's a teacher problem. We go to wake up there. You go to wake forest week. Three we know coach clawson will always have a few tricks up his sleeve. Then you have two games at home. In my opinion have to win against louisville and syracuse you go on the road at north carolina a game where the tar heels will have revenge for a game that they lost tallahassee. A season ago of memory serves me correct. You get a bye week your home against umass and that's where things start to get a little bit more tricky from halloween weekend into the close at clemson home against nc state home against miami at at florida. I mean ken. This program maintain momentum if they don't get to that projection of five and seven like odds mcnutt leaky right. Fsu issue has to keep the recruiting momentum alive with a fast start. They have to find a way to be four and one before the drubbing at north carolina. And then you come out of the by you get to five wins by beating umass and if you can start hot right there crews will buy into the improvement message and then you're in the end of october and i think the hope is that your classes almost complete at that point because there aren't many wins the back end of that schedule. Add clemson at florida rivalry game against miami so you need to find a way to start five and one and then split. The nc state and boston college games that gets you to six are projections pretty in line with the market. You know at five point three wins. That's where we're at. I think the other thing here is in part of the in. And part of the things that the elite recruits wanna see is. What is mike. Novell's offense actually look like. What is this scheme going to be. Because last season it was clear like florida. State didn't have the offensive line to be a drop back passing him. And mike norville kind of quickly transition to jordan travis and his legs to mask the offensive line issues and avenue. Shockingly like finished seventeenth in line yards. Less than ten percent runs were stopped at. Or behind the line of scrimmage so they were able to run the ball so huge credit obviously to alex atkins the align coach huge credit the mike nor valley kind of identified. That after about six quarters like.
How Sabans Absence Will Affect Georgia vs. Alabama
"Bill Connolly I asked our mutual friend Spencer Hall how I should be introducing you here today Oh God. And he said very flatly. Bill is the godfather of college football analytics. So I hope you accept that title. I mean it's I'm not GonNa say it was survival of the fittest is basically I google to college football analytics in about two thousand seven and it came up with basically result. So I, started doing it. So I. I kinda one by default, but I'll take it. Bill Conley now writes about college football for ESPN. So Bill I was all set to talk to you about the rich pageantry the back story to what was GONNA be the most anticipated college football game of the year and then twenty two, thousand, eight just got in everything and so we're GonNa talk about all the non covert angles to this game. Let's talk about the pandemic stuff I because Wednesday evening. We got news that Alabama coach Nick Sabin and the school's Athletic Director Greg Byrne both tested positive for covid nineteen. So as the basic SCO, we are talking this through on Thursday afternoon. What do we know what don't we know about Sabin and how much coaching can that guy do or not do remotely. So technically know the answer to that last part the if coaches in quarantine, he cannot you call in plays to the press box he cannot communicate with the actual coach's coaching the game of via. Zoom or whatever that is the rule as it's been laid out obviously that kills any great visions of them Willingham up and down the sideline with a on a little robot thing with a monitor ipad at the top of it we don't get any of that apparently but the rules as stated for these Special Times says that you can't do that and he will not be able to communicate and the coach himself. How is he feeling a medically? Do we know anything about that Wednesday evening win the actual diagnosis was announced he said he had no symptoms and. His daughter at one point actually tweeted out she. She announced very clearly she had permission from him to tweet it out, and then he was coaching the practice via zoom and whatnot. Okay. So that is at the very least some good news in a chaotic situation. Let's get back to that many robot proposal that you had because I was Kinda. Hoping. Like Nick Sabin would just appear on a projection screen somehow. Like Zorro Don, from power rangers, we lean towards absurdity in college football that would've been the best situation, but apparently, not apparently not. But like could he theoretically text someone on staff if he doesn't like the cut of the middle linebackers footwork Jib or something like is there creative wiggle room here? In College football, there are the rules and there are other rules you can prove you broke. So if he wants to tech somebody in the booth, I'm pretty sure nobody's GonNa GonNa figure that out I don't think you have to give your cell phone up at the door maybe maybe now you do I don't know but I'm pretty sure. He could probably get in touch with somebody if he really wanted to. So we don't know how Sabin contracted the virus yet. We. Don't know who else might test positive over the next day or so but it's also not the first time. A coach had to sit out a game this season because of a positive test, I think of Mike Norval, at Florida state. So those other situations shed any light on how this one might develop. Well Yeah, I think so far if I'm not mistaken Mike novell's the only coach who had to miss a game. You're others kind of Soda speak got a little lucky less miles had minor symptoms but his team was on a bye week at Kansas when he tested positive Blake Anderson at Arkansas. State. He had a fever for a decent amount of time, but I don't think they played a game during that time. So it was basically Mike Nevada, Florida state the Way College coaching works you know Sunday through Friday is is kind of the bigger deal and then Saturday just put the boat out in the sea and see what happens. So a having a former head coach Steve Sarkissian being able to take over maybe that's worth. It really pays off because plenty of guys still have lots of experience on that staff. So, Bill do we have faith here that there is not an outbreak situation going on? Well, one thing that Alabama has going for them is that they are either the only or one of the only programs in the that that is doing daily testing. So at the very least, you know that's not a substitute for contact tracing by any means, but it kinda stops contact. If nothing else you can more quickly address in isolate and all that. But Y- Way College football has worked this fall. You know basically a team puts out a press release on on Saturday morning and we are going to be without eighteen players. Thank you and that's all we really hear about it really has been a share as little information as possible kind of situation. So. It's it's something I. Don't know what it is. It's something.

Despite the fact that school is not it's session and the Seahawks apply and the Seahawks are playing and that game. This ten six Cowboys started the third quarter taping it. You're kidding. I'm sorry. It's fine. Well, looking in the in the second half one player in particular, retain them navy talk about Tajdidi enough and he's been hot lately, and he has a points but on eleven shots so far. Let's see how he handles the pressure. You've been facing here. In the second hand Broncos. Roll out the ball with works Frankish. Josh Martin really Caruso at touch easy. Trae words defended by Zach Norville working off a screen set by Caruso getting in deep passage shot blocked, but Frank runs it down picked up by Taj between the legs with the dribble keeping it alive. Ten of a timer? Now nine opening minute of play first possession of the second half baseline drive for no breakage. It's not that of his hands by branded Clark last touched by the Broncos sophomore. And now the first possession for good. Anna turnover like that with the shot clock winding down is okay because it's a dead ball turnover. In the Broncos get set in their defense. Caracas racy back half court set here for the BULLDOGS Clark defended by Caruso, now a dribble. Handoff. Zach Norval looking back for kiss bird. Download it goes to Clark going up over Willie Caruso and a foul is called shots. No good and much. Like they started this game. Gonzaga's going to go to the line for googly Elmo or Willie. Standing straight up arm straight up Clark Johnson to him frustrated though at the other end, he caught it inside was patient. But put that patients did letting one defender fly by allow Brennan Clark whose hunting for blocked shots to come over and reject his shop branded Clark is sixty five percent foul shooter misses the first one so far in the Gaby's now three for five. So as he knocks down the second. It's fifty one twenty seven at Clark. Has a fourteen points BULLDOGS fifteen of eighteen from the line. Still not quite a bit by here in the second half. Josh Martin backing the gerbil finally gets the ball into the hands of trae words timer tray with his feet on the logo Tochigi right side. Lobbied side to was attended for Llosa Frankish, but hachi Mira got a fingertip on it. Now hachi working his way to the front court left elbow. "Combined with carbon capture and storage change Lund management as well as some Norval approaches that are very early stages of development. However, carbon dioxide removal on a large scale could have implications for food security for ecosystems. Unfor- bio diversity. That's Jim ski scientists and lead author of the IPC report. Chris Mooney it's the last part. I mean, we'll talk about the negative inputs as as ski talks about there, but it's this. It's when he said that removal on a large scale of carbon dioxide could have implications for food security and things like that. What is he talking about? What he's talking about is this is a key part of the the report, not. Only does it say that emissions have to be cut at of extremely rapid pace, such as I said before, you have to remove the emissions of a major economy annually, but on top of that, you have to create an entire new industry, the pulls carbon dioxide out of the air and this doesn't exist now. So people have been trying to imagine it in studies and in climate models, and one of the ways in which they imagined it involves planting huge, essentially, plantations of trees or crops and using those for energy, but making sure that you capture the emissions that are released when they're burn and put those in the ground so that you're sucking carbon dioxide out of the air into the plants and then pulling it into the ground and getting energy along the way. This is what he referred to his bioenergy combined with carbon capture and storage. But there's this huge problem which is that you need an enormous area of land to do this and land has other uses like growing food. So what they're saying is that we might need some. Land to pull carbon out of the air that it might compete with the need to feed of the world's growing population drew del. That sounds like a very. Sobering zero-some game. Yeah, you know, I think that taking the risk that we can emit more carbon now and we will make up for it later by pulling it out of the air is akin to, you know, buying a new house on a credit card and hoping that eventually you'll get a better job and be able to pay for it. Now, this is a enormous gamble with the future of our whole planet, and and I think you know it turning over a large portion of our terrible land to grow crops to to burn them and to use a large portion of our water to grow those crops in our fertilizer has enormous implications for biodiversity inability to feed the planet. And so we cut our emissions much more rapidly, and we do have scenarios that do this in the report. We do not need to rely on this kind of technological carbon removal. You can get away with only planting trees. The kind of carbon removal that we already know about an is relatively benign, but that requires the most agree. Give carte cuts in carbon of any of the scenarios we explored, but just to be clear. I mean, as Christmas saying, we would some of that tree planting globally be taking place on arable land that would otherwise be needed for, you know, to feed the extra two billion people that we expect to be added to the world's population in the next several decades that would generally be restoring abandoned land for marginal lands on. So we could if we keep the reliance on these negative emissions at the lowest possible levels which you can only do of course, by cutting carbon aggressively right away, then we can get away without really compromising much of our era lambs. Okay. I want to get to the the emissions cutting scenario, the aggressive emissions, cutting scenarios that you're talking about that you hinted at there in just a second, but we do have a lot of callers who want to join us. And obviously this is an issue that affects us also let me just get to them Amar's calling from east Lansing, Michigan. You're on the air. Hi, magna. My question. Sorry, my question is, when will the people that are profiting from the destruction of the environment Goyal barons or whatnot? When will they be held accountable conversations? Very scary. But often I'd never hear anyone speak of who makes the money off..
