Man who hung off side of Chicago's Trump Tower for 13 hours has not been charged
"Another update on that man who spent 13 hours hanging From the side of the trump tower over the weekend by a rope. The police were able to talk the man down Monday morning. They did not arrest him. They took him for a psych evaluation at the hospital. And then last night, we learned that the man was being transferred via ambulance from Northwestern Hospital to another hospital when he jumped out of the ambulance. Now, he that was at about nine o'clock last night, John Hollow, and now they found the guy at about one o'clock this morning, and the last I heard they were not going to hit him with any criminal charges. So I assume that's still the case. I've not heard differently. Well, he's obviously got some issues, so I hope he gets the help that he needs. But I'm surprised that there's no not a single criminal charge. After spending all that time on the side of the Trump Tower, you would think trespassing. At the very least, the charge would come if a judge under you know, looking at the mitigating circumstances might say Okay, time served, or Ah, no harm, no foul, but I still don't understand why the police don't Charge the guy, but that's why I'm not a police officer. Yeah, well, we'll see. We'll see what happens. We'll see if they're if there's any change in this story, but now it looks like He's been located and it looks like he's not being charged.

"What we are seeing. Is violence against police. A security guard and a civilian were struck by gunfire doing the melee last night in our downtown They were both taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition. Five guns were recovered. Doing these incidents, in fact, see, but he has recovered a total of 149 guns this weekend. Another 164 guns. We're headed in this part of a gun turning event on the West side. Not arrest in this city are up 15%. This year. Apparently 2019. In one incident last night, officers were arresting a looting suspect. That missing and how many one legged street this this person was carrying a cash register here looted out of the store. It's often we're making the arrest another vehicle passed by the officers. And fire shots at the officer. As their vehicle turned a corner resulted in an exchange of gunfire between officers. Any suspects. A bullet was found lodged in the cage of the police vehicle. So far this year, Chicago police have covered 6000 189 guns. Each of these guns, recovery says you Can't imagine has the potential to turn into a deadly force encounter with police. As for the weekend figures Charles has made an outstanding arrest for murder. Eight outstanding arrest for criminal sexual assault and two outstanding Warner rest for robbery and five arrests regulated battery. Riding through Sunday. 6 p.m. to 11 59. With the confidence that there will be no concert confidence consequences. Father access And I, for one, refuse to allow these cowardly acts. Behold our city hostage. "Northwestern hospital is on the phone with us by the way how are the front lines how was how are things at northwestern are you guys overwhelmed on a daily basis is that manageable right now thank you for asking it's manageable we were very busy we've had to really expand the capabilities to care for patients with Kobe nineteen we've got a lot of I see you capabilities but it's manageable right now when you think we'll see overflow if that'll even happen at McCormick place yeah it is hard to know you know the models predict that we're still going to be seeing more patients through the end of the month but we hope that those models are over estimates but again we got to pay attention to him I would much rather be over prepared yep and have those plans just stay as planned I would have no problem with that I agree a hundred percent to one nine area code here's a text message if alcohol also kills cobit nineteen does adding alcohol to baby wipes work if you can't find sanitizing wipes yes you know alcohol can certainly get Gammage baby skin I would worry about kind of making your own baby white preparation against open water works really well for the virus so been watered this is from my brother Dave windows elective surgery open up again he works in the medical field yeah that's going to really depend on your local health center and their volume of coronavirus cases and what they think is safe and appropriate in terms of getting back to normal how should we handle our incoming mail the mail carrier goes from house to house two six nine area code it's probably okay we don't have any evidence of coronavirus disease being passed through pastor packages or mail that comes in if you want to be really really cautious let your mail set for a day before you open it all right let's go to Patrick in Greenwood Patrick what's your question for Dr Ben actually I have two questions are one I see the other one when I go to the store and wearing a mask should I take when I have no signs of anything I take my vitamins every day should I wear masks in public yes doc yeah right now the centers for disease control has made a recommendation that when you go out to go if you're going to the grocery store somewhere in a public place put on a hockey mask of clock face covering this isn't surgical mask or a hospital mask and certainly not an N. ninety five respirator that's what we need in the hospital but a cloth mask can go a long way from protecting people from the spread of the virus grab a scarf and just put it around your face when you're grocery shopping yeah we don't we don't care I think you need much more than that right now again this is much more to protect others from you if you happen to be a symptomatic or even pre symptomatic meaning that you have a virus but don't yet have symptoms it's to protect people from you spreading the virus much more than you getting the virus but again if we all adhere to that it'll work let's go to Kurt in Hammond Indiana Kurt what's your question for Dr Ben how you almost have to the question what does massacre pretty hard to come by Argus imperative map keep along the rail all yeah I I think so you can go online you can go to the CDC there are videos about how to make your own cloth mask but double wrap scarf should provide some protection against those droplets that we are all giving off when we talked last or even sneezing cough not a bandanna I know they're open at the bottom like John Wayne used to wear his colors were orange and red I want to say for the Duke yeah look like yeah looks like you're gonna go rob a train you know the the clock the clock covering should make a difference if you want to double it up that probably makes a little bit better again these are probably less effective about preventing droplets coming your way but should provide some protection if you are somebody who has the virus but doesn't know it yet from having your droplets in fact somebody else let's see three one two area code if I walk the dog or go outside for more than thirty minutes should I come home and immediately change my clothes probably not that's probably more than is necessary particularly if you're outside but wash your hands wash your hands all right Dr Ben I'm gonna have a hold on again until the governor walks up to the podium we're gonna carry the governor live but if you have a question for Dr Ben from northwestern three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred.

CPD Says Man Walked To Northwestern Hospital After Getting Bitten By Coyote
"Cart negroes man I Courtney how you doing Hey good morning how are you I'm good in your own coyote watch again aren't you oh my gosh it's been an eventful morning we spotted wound only now right here northwest campus northwestern hospital but it there is this sense in area right on your bank you hear me and we learned about a thirty two year old man got it last night like a few hours ago been around midnight to the ER clustered in that business in the rear and so we came out to see the area where thirty that which was right on Fairbanks near here on an album of the year Takako down here thanks John he thought the curfew he actually walked up to our camera to cross the street crossed Huron and my right away it would be amazing but that's actually the second time that we've encountered a coyote this week alone it's the first encounter was on Monday well one Christine on I don't like surprises you know really notable look you know the book about the fighting did that you know that a five year old was it last night yesterday afternoon at the page go to bart nature medium that child local times in the head taken to the hospital the children's hospital and we're told that child have been stabilized by that we don't know if it's the same with multiple coyotes whatever the one that we saw this morning appear to be a little press seven and also appeared to be injured limping a little bit though kind of scary you know the five year old a boy a bit in Lincoln Park and where did you say the the guy who is a bit in the but that attacked so he was attacked while you're in northwestern hospital camp it though right here pretty much done on Fairbanks near here on and he was walking down the street on their bank on the block of Fairbanks and ended up being bitten on the revised its cargo de and so he went home and you know took care of himself for a little while and then I guess he thought it best to go to the ER thought around midnight showed up at the northwestern ERT report that he got it by this karaoke so yeah that we learned about that but that would you know we're talking about two people being bitten by coyotes and less than twelve hours in the city of Chicago which is pretty unusual and you know both animal experts would tell you coyotes don't want to bother you they don't wanna bite you but whether we're dealing with just this one or or if this is multiple Cayley's whatever the cases they it appears that they appear to be critical and if your TV news photographer and you you've got video of a coyote that that's a good day at work isn't it well yeah John it's pretty excited we've been speculating it on Instagram Facebook and on Twitter at follow out there is a pretty amazing stuff because even on the video you can hear him she will waive the coyote at the crossing the street could be looking at the camera he was coming or die coming for the camera and Donald Michael wait go away so he was pretty amazing though initially totally got it better turned around after cross the street and kind of started running again but yeah pretty interesting stuff you never know what you're going to be in the booklet interesting stuff two three o'clock in the morning yeah for sure animal care and control now says that if you spot a coyote yeah you can call in right three three one one correct actually and interestingly enough that's what we did when we when John and then a coyote this morning we got on the phone to call police let them know that we have spotted it in this area because it was just a few hours after the thirty development and it in the phone a lot pretty much and so we notify police and they in turn can notify animal care troll and were searching for clues that could come out and actually starts for the coyote yeah he's been making a parent if you're on the north side from Linkin park to the Gulf coast so keep your eyes peeled just never know when he's going to make him style make myself now and again in the experts say it's it's really unusual for coyote to approach somebody let alone let alone attack this this is is very odd isn't it Larry and that's why we're wondering out window animal experts you know we can talk later this morning but here it is hi Judy this particular community that will be we spotted this morning the two o'clock hour may even be injured it appears to be limping having some sort of a leg injury perhaps that's the reason why he still corrective is maybe somebody hurt him more he was harmed in some way and now he's not very trustworthy and people so we're not really sure but hopefully the animal care and control could catch up to him and give on the care that he needs but we also know on interestingly enough there was a coyote that was pulled from Lake Michigan and the same day that we initially spotted the coyote on like surprise on Monday there was also a coyote cool from like Michigan icy water diversity responded came out cold film and entreated that coyote but we don't know whatever happened to that coyote if they release them back into the wild or if they still have three in care of this particular coyote felt that so I think we don't know if it's one of the local out here who's the who's the cameraman again who got the video in who we hear on the video showing the coyote away did you see Jon download download and we are to give him his props and also give him time today to go back to the station and get in the editing room and add that clip to his resume highlight reel because you know hello and he'll want to do that was not very often you get voice over work to you yeah yeah that's right clearly we know when we'll be seeing a lot of our channel line all day today and tonight thanks a lot of course he proceeded to report no problem Bobby take care all right have a

"Northwestern hospital to talk about prostate awareness is doctor a leash Morgan stock thanks for coming on I appreciate it thanks so much for having me I know men don't usually talk about anything at all let alone health problems in my right you are very very right. and of course if man talked about before things I feel like I'm having a conversation my work with my wife if I opened up more this is a benefit to men is that it is you know I think that if men sort of acted like women in this way if they reached out as they talk to their doctors when they had problems if they thought about screening to preemptively kind of identify problems and then treat them before but they became bigger that would be great but that's not necessarily true men are and and it's important that you know we in healthcare recognize that we need to meet men where they are for those men who are are coordinated in organized enough to to do it we want to meet them where they are have urologist in primary care ready to to listen to them and help them get the help that they need if they need it and for those men who are more kind of catching up as things happen and identifying problems maybe a little bit later we're we're here for them to because we are who we are and we can't change everybody we just want to make sure that people if they do have a problem they certainly speak up and we can help where we can well tell us about the the US to blog where men can share and ask questions yeah you know I think the US to blog is particularly useful just because of this issue that men don't always feel comfortable talking to their doctors and sometimes not even to their their partners about concerns or questions that they have and we all have questions about what's normal you know and and how we should feel or you know it does this is it supposed to work this way those those kind of things the US to blog as a community of prostate cancer patients and advocates who can answer questions particularly around prostate cancer but also other aspects of men's health from a peer to peer kind of vantage point and also from a non judgmental non identified jet vantage point where men can ask what's really important on their mind but they may be too nervous to say doctor Lisa Morgan's from northwestern hospital on the line with. as how often should a guy go in for prostate exam is a yearly is that every two years three years what well at this point the recommendations are really for men to have a conversation with their doctor and help make the choice that's right for them which I know sounds like a very complicated answer by forty or forty five men need to have that conversation with their doctor there's both a blood test called a PSA and a rectal exam which is actually very brief but can be really important in identifying an abnormally shaped prostate and the combination of these two screening tools can be incredibly useful in identifying localized prostate cancer so prosecutor that still in the prostate that can be cured with surgery or radiation because you found it early enough it if it gets out of the prostate and has moved it's not going to be curable in most cases anymore so the screening tests are are important when it's right for you if you're an African American man usually that's going to be a little bit younger so forty forty five forty I would say is have that conversation recall cation man without a family history maybe at forty five to at least have a conversation if you have a family history it's ten years before that family member right I had a diagnosis we had family history so I've been going for years and my brother had prostate cancer he was diagnosed last year by the way the whole prostate cancer thing they diagnose it they take out the prostate I mean which is one of the surgeries there's other options have all talk about the second but he was through the entire process I want to say in ninety days maybe four months at the most yeah you know they're they're trying harder I think to make it as simple as possible because people are in the prime of their lives they're working they have sometimes they have children they certainly have families loved ones they have things that they'd rather be doing than going to have their prostate removed so you know surgery. have become much more advanced they're using robots in laparoscopic approaches that's right minimize that recovery time and and they're trying to get men back to doing what they want to do as quickly as possible what are the biggest prostate problems men face as they get older many men actually probably most men will have the prostate grow just with normal tissue over time as they get older it's called been nine press static I purchased beer hyperplasia or BPH which is a lot easier to say and to think about it just means that the prostate continues to grow over time and it stays in a fixed amount of space and so as it's doing that it blocks the day you retire which allows us to urinate and can cause men to have to urinate more frequently because they're not emptying their bladder all the way that is not cancer and it's something that can be treated with pills or sometimes with a pretty minor surgical procedure to open up that you re throat remove the prostate out of the way shrink it up a little bit so that you can urinate not normally that's probably other than prostate cancer that's the biggest issue that men have with their prostate and that is is a pretty common issue particularly as men get older I mean I feel like there's different triggers for everybody especially as you get older I know I've said this on the air by start drinking beer at a game or a bear game it's like every thirty minutes I'm running to the bathroom yeah you know that sometimes even when you're prostates not base here in Iraq the wind is that you any alcohol will do that so so but these are questions that certainly you'd want to after urologist about and if you're if you're getting older if you're over forty to forty five you know you don't know if it's been nine prostate hyperplasia or BPH but nine not cancer or that your practice getting big because of cancer unless you've spoken with somebody and they can do the screening test that rectal exam or the the the blood test the PSA or both and then they can help guide. you on what the what the problem actually is we can assume that it's not cancer we can assume that it is cancer unless we really kind of evaluate it we're talking with doctor Alicia Morgan's from northwestern hospital we've always said on the show was special Li if we have doctors on people need to listen to their bodies they try to ignore things on a put it off you need to listen to your body if something's off you need to go see a doctor I agree you know speaking up is probably the most powerful way you can take care of yourself and your health whether it has to do with prostate cancer or your heart or your colon cancer and bow movements whatever it is if you speak up and ask the questions people can help you figure out whether it's a big problem a small problem or and it and then take the steps necessary to actually address and take care of the problem because you're probably not the first person to ask that question I guarantee or not right. your definitely that can you talk about the the other types of prostate cancer treatment we talked about the surgery of course happens right away there's other treatments is in there there are there are there treatments there are a series of treatment around radiation and different types of radiation and these are again for localized prostate cancer that prostate cancer that's all still inside the prostate it hasn't spread outside of the prostate and the the goal of that kind of treatment is always going to be take your the person who has that cancer to radiation just to sort of burned away the prostate tissue that has the cancer and it whether they're using external beam radiation or proton beam radiation or little seeds of radiation that can be implanted in the prostate if if it's a lower risk of prostate cancer there are multiple ways to approach that in their new ways that they're thinking about two with ultrasounds and other kinds of vocal therapies that can try to get rid of very small focuses of prostate cancer but one of the most important pieces of prostate cancer care I think is that for men who have very low amounts of prostate cancer they're very low risk those men can actually be followed with something called active surveillance so that would be PSA blood test over time rectal exam sometimes imaging like MRI eyes or even biopsies once in a while to really follow very low risk disease but never actually do a surgery or do radiation hi this side effect because that can't there's never going to be aggressive enough or dangerous enough to cause a long term problem so that helps men keep their quality of life keep their erectile function all of their urinary function all all the things that they are potentially in danger of having in terms of side effects that keeps them all safe will never having to actually have them go through a. feature because the cancers so low risk and and this all goes back to go see your doctor you need an exam I can speak as a man we're all meat heads and we don't listen to people we just need to go see doctors yes and by the way you have a guided relaxation session what is this because I feel like I want to be a part of it yeah you know Hey I just finished with clinic I'd like to be part of a guided relaxation. yeah it would be lovely so this is really a push I think at northwestern and at many places around the country is really been identified that that mental health stress and the whole person are things that we need to focus on and we've never really wanted to focus on just the prostate and this is really just in a piece of that focusing on the whole person so there are wellness consultations where a wellness associate meets one on one with with patients or with their loved ones are caregivers are partners to talk about strategies for relaxation guided relaxation where the group actually meet said may go through guided relaxation of the group with you know breeding techniques and and thoughtful as and certainly you don't even have to be a patient at northwestern to attend something like that I can give you contact information for our though the woman who coordinates that if you're interested the group's meeting on September twenty fourth and I think they have a schedule posted at an M. dot org backslash Polke P. O. L. S. K. Y. I've been of course we have support groups that are specific to prostate cancer but the guided relaxation and wellness consultations are really for for everybody in for you know just a holistic approach of caring for our cell of course and I joke about it but I even need down time I mean I used to run run run run run and then I got to a point a.

I don't know what you think of this. He was a big, dude. He was like six five and he looked like a defensive lineman. He was just a big guy. And I mean, he was he was spilling all over me. And not that he could help it. The other thing was really didn't speak English. So when they're asking you all the questions about the exit row, can you? He's like, I have no idea. I don't know what you're saying. And finally can you help because that's what happens. Someone starts talking louder. That's a good way to break the language barrier. And he just said, no problem. So you have no problem if and then he said, I don't know you have no problem, helping you're physically able and willing. Blink stare, right. He just said no problem in. She just quit and said, okay. Stinky, ones do on the way on the way, they're airing of grievances a little bit eight, listen if you're against showers if that's somewhere in your belief system. That's fine. But does everyone else have to pay for that? You have something against the odorant you like specific kinds of food after your way and what's hose him down? Just get to join us bowling rushes with soap and the end of it. I mean, I don't want to be done loving. I'm just talking about what fair. Stop. I'm not looking for brushes and firehoses here. At Southwest Airlines. We take pride in the allows all of our passengers dipping like a bucket. Suspended. Dang it. Okay. Oh my gosh. The latest on Jesse indicted on sixteen felony counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly staging that hate crime sixteen counts that is aggressive. Yeah. They're not happy in Chicago. You blame them. No, no. I don't blame them. So the grand jury counted each part of his story and all the lies individually. That's how they got to sixteen counts. Technically, the guy faces up to sixty four years in prison. Now, he is not going to get anywhere close to sixty four years in prison, but it's still a very aggressive indictment. They are counting on him getting some jail time. I suddenly feel a lot better with the bed. I have with about the bed. I have with producer Craig. I bet him, you know, like five bucks, right? Go to jail for at least a year. That was the bet that right? I feel pretty good about that today. So his lawyer Mark Gary goes, though goes on CNN to talk to Anderson Cooper and the excuses are flying out there. Even if he were. Supposedly, the one who had orchestrated this. This is an outrage the fact that he maintains his innocent makes it even more outrageous sixteen counts, I defy anybody to find any indictment anywhere where somebody has brought sixteen counts for being a victim of a of a hate crime. Basically, the problem with this case and it started with. Is there not bringing? Because you just. Sixteen counts. Yes. Yeah. We've never see as sixteen never saw d amount of man hours wasted. Yeah. Do you think this is too much piling on and he'll he'll somehow make himself a sympathetic figure here? I think that's what he's trying to do. I agree. That's what the lawyer is trying to do. I agree. I mean, I think Anderson Cooper valiantly tries to say he's not being charged for being the victim of a hate crime. He's being charged for faking right crime. That's what he's doing. But Garrett goes goes on saying this whole thing is basically a witch hunt. A witch hunt bringing sixteen counts because they've parched out to statements. That's I defy you to find something like that. He was not suspended. They have not talked to one person at FOX who has said he was dissatisfied with his money. "Boss. Just correct could be please forgive me. I supposed to go through the timeline of our investigation. Okay. So here's where we are as you all know on the early morning of February twenty-ninth at two o'clock in the morning Jesse smollet reported that he was the victim of a hate crime. Detectives responded to the incident and and interviewed him eventually at northwestern hospital where he reported to us that they. The two to offenders. Yelled, racial, and homophobic, and political. Statements at him and beat him put a noose around his neck and threw bleach on them. And then fled from the area. We learned at the time that that Jesse was not hurt other than scratches on his face, maybe some bruising, but no broken ribs are serious injuries. So we started a a full-scale investigation into this hate crime of various serious crime. In anywhere. We quickly found two persons of interest on video that that we believed were the likely offenders in this case, we initially put out a seeking to identify. And we got this out in a community alert. We then started searching the area for video cameras and witnesses that could help us with our investigation. During that time frame. We we interviewed over a hundred individuals in a canvas of the area and a follow up canvas. As our investigation expanded. We located approximately thirty five of our Chicago police pod cameras in the area in the areas that we determined these to these two persons of interest fled. We additionally found over twenty private sector cameras. And I gotta say that that was that was super useful in this investigation. The city came together to investigate and help the police with this crime. It was because of these pod cameras our investment in in into technology in the city of Chicago, and the the great assistance from the community and giving us those other cameras that led us to a really solid timeline of where are two persons of interest went. So in short, we're able to track them initially initially forward. So after the crime, we're able to see that they fled in a particular direction and eventually got into a cab. Our investigators located that that cab interviewed the cabdriver got. Some video out of their cab followed that cab using all of these surveillance cameras that are located throughout the city, the pod cameras to an area up on the north side where the abruptly stopped the cab got out and walked on foot. Again, the community came together to provide us with security footage from their private cameras. So at that point. We then started tracking these two persons of interest backwards backwards to where they came from. So we followed them walking around and eventually back to where they had gotten out of a cab. So that was another individual that we had to interview and another individual where we saw video. We continue to track that back to the point where the cab was tracked down by our two persons of interest in a rideshare car. We then followed up on the ride share. And and that was the lead that we needed in order to identify the two persons of interest. At that point. We had a real good time line of where these people went. We were able to put a name to both of these individuals. And it was at that time that we started.

"Hundreds of hours of surveillance footage in the alleged jussie smollet attack. And they have found zero official footage of the crime or the alleged perpetrators. Here's the detail that I would like to note this kid, obviously, this guy this man, can obviously say roughly where he was attack. Right. So I know they're saying they haven't have any footage. But I wonder if they've looked at all the footage from where they say exactly what happened because what if they've just got him saying it happened right here in the footage. Just doesn't show that at all, right? I think we should know that at this point. With cameras everywhere. These days surveillance cameras for an attack to take place like that. I would think it would be on one of the cameras. So the guy from empire said that he was jumped by two people that were in masks and they had a new maga- hats, right hats and bleach. And they're saying that they they can't find any trace of this happening. And I will say this. I'm I've got two different articles in front of me where where used to read bleach through an unknown is now been replaced with through an unknown sumps substance on him. So it seems like they're walking back the bleach thing as well. Last night ABC seven Chicago learned that jussie smollet requested responding Chicago police officers turn off their body cameras as they arrived to take his report. Can you do that? Yeah.
