"I think they are in a weird spot this year also as that's a fantastic idea, I want to give that idea. It's not going to say, well, I think they're in a tough spot with the charity stuff where like you know there was a little bit floating around and we've set it on the podcasts a little bit to where. A lot of these charities a lot of these charities are not getting the amount of money that they have gotten in the past and the tour done a lot of good stuff to try to. Make up some of that with the Wednesday skins games and that kind of stuff. I think they've they've put on a pretty big effort the last few weeks months to do that. But. It's going to be some tough optics the next few weeks when it's like. Fifteen, million, ten, million, eight, million, you get fucking five million. Here you go. That's going to be a really weird line for them to walk over the next few weeks when really like we've said a million times, the playoffs are basically just that just as big cash redistribution system. It's amazing that we had the season long and all this projected stuff. Even as of today no one was watching could understand what any any stroke man or what anything happened like they need something for the playoffs just back here. Here's the simple cut for how you make like the final seventy, which is to your point maybe it should be handicap. Strokes sure going back to Boston I. Think we ask the question like, why does it get shit on all the time I think part of it is because there's so much good golf in. New. England and it just feels like such a waste to be playing there but it's right in downtown Boston all the show you exactly. If. Feels like a band together Arnold Palmer course that then hance tried to touch up and breathe new life. It feels a little bit doesn't really have an identity played down there a couple times really really nice walk in the woods. I feel like I I've been there three or four times and like actually every time there and like I would really like to play here but that means. Soul you know. I, think also it's like, yeah. It just doesn't know the fact that they went from four playoff events to three playoff events and like nobody said a thing like I just remember that today I'm like, oh. Yeah. They're really cutting a lot of people like if they wanted to basically move this thing around the eastern seaboard, you're like, all right. Let we're going to have one playoff event in the northeast. We're GONNA have one in the Midwest and we're going to have one out west somewhere like we're GONNA have one in Seattle Portland San Francisco in prime time like that's a way to breathe new life into it too and yeah, I mean BMW did that one time with with Cherry Hills in Denver I don't know if it was I mean I do know it was a tough commute to go from. Boston to Denver to. Wherever Chicago or. I got another ex essential question. This is bothering me if we're GONNA, call it playoffs. Why do one hundred and twenty five guys get into the playoffs? Exactly. Fantastic point make the playoffs actually special, right so I don't know what the exact number would be whether it's. Twenty, four, thirty, two, assuming there are three events I would do a stroke-play. Two Man Tournament Week one the winner gets a buy into a match-play semi-final the second week I would take the remaining guys that the guy won the previous week and play for the money. Whoever wins gets a bye into the semifinals and then take the other like thirty guys or twenty two guys match play them into a semi-final with the two winners and and have a true like playoffs right a- because the the one of the inherent flaws of the playoffs is a hundred and twenty five guys get in like. During the regular season but if it's the top twenty, four guys, well, then all of a sudden like Oh shit like. You know you actually have to like really play well to get into the playoffs one hundred and twenty-five guys to then they would say, well, you know there's like two hundred guys with cards like, yeah. That's the problem there's. Guys with cards. Yeah. It seems like a bunch of like, yeah but yeah like. That stuff is not our problem. You guys got fix that Shit. I think that's a fantastic idea. Why not even kind of borrow from. The most interesting play-off quote unquote in Sports with pride March madness right and make it a sixty four man match play bracket that's just broken up over. Different tournaments like the way that they do the match or the March Madness regionals where it's like, yeah, you got two games here and then we're moving to two games here and you just kind of slowly whittle it down like how cool would it be Jason? Co Crack Worsen you to spokane. That's a good idea because March madness encompasses you have to win six games, right? So you can make those first couple of rounds to to avoid potentially like the sixty four over once he'd upset like you can make them best of your best of five and played over four days or somebody want upper to upper. Yeah not even see play like two rounds one week to rows next week, and then you have the the final four and there's no reason if you. WanNa make it for days. For TV, there's no reason. Everybody has to play every day, break it up and you know jt your plan Thursday royer playing your match Friday. You'd have TV every day but but yeah, the the key things for me is like you gotTa have like a head to head and I think I think that'd be less people if you did have head to head how cool would it be? To have like Oh shit. Next week is JT versus Rory we've got like five days to get up for it. That's why I've always said at the end of the tour championship the top like eight or sixteen should go onto the playoff. Totally the whole thing is whittled. You can call it the finals and then it's the playoffs in its matchplay and its prime time the week right after the tour championship and that is then you get to keep the answer to all. That is unfortunately the loses out in this regard, but like they need to sell the sponsorship to. Northern. Trust to BMW to all that and those companies want a ton of the big names there and years where you can have fans and they can host the and all that stuff but. If you have if they can't, you can't promise that the I think those companies pay a premium for the playoff events and big premium. If you can't be a promise that you're gonNA have a big bulk of not going to pay. That is the answer to a lot of that question. I think but. Like going back to the whole match play you know criticism of like. Well, yeah. You're going to be left with blowout or matchup. What was this? Action packed you see Daniel Burgers and third place right now and I, don't get that either because the US am for example, had you told me the being the week? It's star Fauci against who are the Osborne like Ozzy Osbourne's screen those guys are GonNa play a match like do you care like? No I don't care but when it becomes the US am final. It's riveting when you run into a dejected all. At the. House. And.

Tiger Woods withdraws from the Northern Trust tournament
"Will Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the opening the fed ex Cup playoff event with what he calls a mild oblique strain woods opened with a seventy five at the northern trust but says his oblique muscle calls the mild pain and he went for treatment on Friday morning Michael Collins on SportsCenter now I did talk to someone who is a sign with his group when I saw when I got here at the golf course and after tiger made his announcement that he was W. D. and and even that person was a little bit surprised but said tiger had looked comfortable all day walking the golf course on Thursday now in your opinion should he play next week at the BMW absolutely not while I understand on Wednesday it was a back issue where he said his back just one loosen up and he says that he was withdrawing in a statement because of the police what it won't benefit tiger what so ever in playing next week at the B. M. W. he's better off just shut it down for the rest of the year yeah it's the first time woods has withdrawn in the middle of a tournament this year he says he hopes to play next week the B. M. W. in the diner where he has won two of his PGA championship B. T. I. and what he should do I don't know it's it always seems like there's some kind of injury I know in the British open he had taken some time off to go on vacation look terrible there since the masters five tournaments three the majors he's missed the cut twice and withdraws from here to meet with the slip every time I think about a title wasn't in rounds eleven thirteen rounds at thirteen rooms I played more now Hey I know you're not a hundred percent knowledge for the off that he is in here's the thing about Tiger Woods I think as we get further away from that masters victory where it we're going to appreciate it even more the fact that he was able when did you get to anything okay so so my read on this is that winning the masters which nobody thought tiger would do probably not even tighter ever again to win another major was such a war shared a vent in his life that he said that's it that's it for the year I'm done I don't believe that he is cared about another twenty minute all these plate including the

Tiger battling stiffness ahead of playoff opener
"Tell you you might remember his last start in the playoffs was last year and his epic win at the twenty tour championship that sort of set the stage for his win at the masters this year that win moved him into a tie with rory mcilroy dustin johnson for the most wins during the playoff since they debuted which was in two thousand seven. The three repairs are combined for a twenty five percent of the playoff events contested today and we're going to show you live pictures right now. Tiger woods as he is on the course and we will bring michael collins into the conversation because michael as you saw there has been following tiger around liberty national this morning good morning michael collins. What have you seen. How is tiger looking this morning. You see tiger walking off right now but he told me before he said <hes> oh here. We would have been around this morning what i said. What should i tell everybody he goes. Tell him i'm on the t. but he was supposed to be on t. at seven and there was a delay so he didn't get out on the t. till seven thirty so he was lying about seeing on the t. Here's what i've seen for tigers so far today. It's as simple as this. <hes> it is a pro-am there are three guys playing with it from the northern trust and and it's been just like this when it comes down to it. He's been hitting the ball pretty good. Yesterday he played a practice round with brooks kapka dustin johnson and <unk> harold varner the third and they had a lot of fun out there. Those guys play ten holes tiger hit a pretty good. The funny story was sarah varna. The third started the day and said i'm just gonna hit it by tiger. So you're like a iron pipe and tiger said i'm a hammer and hammer beats pipe. Every time and varner never hit a pass them. He thought he did want and said. I got you on that one. I got you on now and i've been working out and harrow garner that there's caddy do him under the bus and said man. You worked out two days. Which of course it does. The johnson brooks let a couple ago and when they let their drives go even how varner that there was a. I think they got both of tiger. I think they gotta pass this so far tigers. There's just hit it okay. He hasn't hit spectacular to be honest with you because there was a delay. The range was opened late. So tiger looks a little bit stiff like he hasn't gone through his full warmup warmup routine. He said a couple balls left. Enwright came up short with an iron shot from the middle of the fairway so it looks like he's just slowly but surely trying to get warmed up but that's what pro-am i am days four right yeah super-quick michael. You've been white on with us when we had you on before the british open and we drowned before the p._j. Both times you said don't expect much from him. Give me a rundown here. What do we expect from him in these playoffs this well let me start. Let's just start with this week. It's real easy for this week my prediction for tiger this week he's gonna fall fall outside the top ten but i think he can be inside the top twenty five and the reason that i say that is because the forecast for this week is for temperatures to be in the mid eighties every single day which means tiger won't have trouble warming his back up and it also means. You don't have to worry about getting stiff during the rounds. Hopefully this'll be a good week for tiger. We'll be watching and we get these playoffs underway earlier than in years past as they have a new schedule on the p._g._a. Tour so well done michael enjoyed out there. Stay safe tigers coming at you and we will see you a little but later in the program his pen back adam. Thank you michael collins. We'll see in a little
The question is not whether the Fed will cut rates but why
"The marketplace word of the day today is expectations expectations used in a sentence. It might sound like this, the Federal Reserve yesterday acted in accordance with expectations and signaled its willingness to cut interest rates the Fed's turned, although not unexpected was a big one from where the central Bank was just six months ago you might remember when it was raising rates. No, we're not talking about a huge cut here. Maybe a quarter of a percentage point. But as marketplace's Tracey Samuelson reports when you are trying to game out what a rate cut is gonna mean in this economy, it is all about expectations. Let's say the fed does shave a quarter of a percent off interest rates at its next meeting. Well, the biggest impact typically on lower rates would be on kind of interest sensitive sectors of the. Enemy housing autos. For example, thing is Tony Rodriguez. Head of fixed income strategy. For new Wien says that the market is already expecting lower rates from the fed, so some rates consumers and businesses pay already reflect that that positive impact is already in the market. So, you know, mortgage rates have come down. Financing rates have come down for you. Know durable equipment, autos, etc. So that cut on its own wouldn't make a huge difference for the economy. What makes a big difference for the economy is does that change expectations about where rates are going into Holland horse? Chief economist for Citi group says, if the fed is cutting rates in the relative near-term, the question is they cut more over the next few months, or next few years in cutting rates, the fed would be sending markets. And I got your back kind of a message that is ready to act if say the trade war starts really slowing economic growth, Carl Tannenbaum is chief economist at Northern Trust, but it's making the statement that the central Bank stands ready to support. Port the continuation of the expansion, and that symbolic message may actually be more powerful than the short room symbolism might be more powerful economically than the cut itself. I'm Tracey Samuelson for
AT&T faces challenge of paying off debt while investing in expanded services
"If you owe the Bank one hundred dollars jay-paul getting one said, it's your problem. You're the Bank one hundred million dollars. It's the bank's problem yo a hundred and sixty nine billion dollars could be everybody's prompt from American public media. This is marketplace. In Los Angeles. On car result is Wednesday today. The twenty fourth of April good as always to have you along everybody we begin in corporate America today. We're quarterly earnings reports have been the barometer the past couple of weeks AT and T had. It's turn this morning. Did find not quite as good as everybody had been guessing. But fine, the real story of AT and T though, an increasing number of businesses in this economy is it's giant pile of debt company promised last year. It was going to do something about how much it owed, and it is trying to make good. It has lost hundreds of thousands of TV and wireless subscribers as it's moved money away from promotions into paying down that debt, but for dealing with debt free TNT and others could be a problem down the road. Marketplace's Benesch or has the story. A so AT and T owes a hundred sixty nine billion dollars debt levels are really really high. I mean, they haven't been most. Debt of any public US company right now Keat Snyder is an industry analyst with CF RA AT and T has a lot of stuff in needs to do like get more content for HBO develop a streaming service. Roll out five G networks. This is all expensive bad debt load is acting is kind of financial handcuffs to them. Why did it take on all this debt in the first place own part because it could interest rates have been super low for a decade? You're a company, and you can borrow at these very low rates, and you have something to do with the money, you'd be kind of crazy not to do it. Kenneth Rogoff is a professor of economics at Harvard corporate debt in general nearly doubled in the past twelve years from less than five trillion dollars to more than nine trillion dollars. The problem is that some of the people borrowing our borrowing with vary. You restrictions. They're going down into much chunkier kinds of debt. He says there could be one or even two trillion dollars worth of this kind of debt out there. And it's mostly not companies like AT and T whose debt is. Investment grade. It's small and medium sized companies. It presents a risk certainly if and when we head into our next recession Carl tanenbaum is chief economist at Northern Trust, the when you have lower rated corporate debt, what that means is that the distance between performance and default is that much shorter depending on how intertwined in the broader financial system. All this debt is defaults could be distabilise for the economy. Unfortunately, the best way to find out is further to be another recession for now a recession in the next year or seems unlikely so debt-laden companies may have a little longer to clean up their books, but not forever in New York. I'm Sabrina sure for marketplace.
Patience may be a virtue for the Fed, but a rate cut would be a salvation for the market
"Conversation with router Sturkenboom. He's chief investment strategist at Northern Trust asset management and throw in the studio router would the global bond rallies picking up bits heating up and treasury yields are going lower across the curve and across sovereigns around the world is the market getting a bit too negative on economic growth this year and beyond. We think from an international perspective. The answer's yes. I think looking at Europe looking at Japan looking at the trade negotiations going on between China, and the USA we think that growth is more likely to not to pick up a little bit in the second half of the year and therefore Kern bomb pricing in terms of growth expectations is a little too negative. However, if you look at the US in particular, we do want to make one caveat to that statement, which is the fed has made a mistake probably in September definitely in December. And the question now is will defend own up to that mistake. And will they start cutting rates like the market is basically pricing them to do forcing them to do. And that's what that's the real question that we're currently trying to answer is willing to get off the pause and get on with a rate cut to get back in charge of monetary policy to get back in front of the curve futures are pricing in about thirty bits of easing by the end of nineteen which suggests at least a quarter of a point reduction. What do you think they'll deliver this year? You think they're going to move into cuts? Well, the question to us is really what they should do what they will do are two different things. What we think they should do is cut and they should cut basically right now they've been behind occur for a while. Now, they have made a mistake in December. And they need to start owning up to it and an posture. Simply isn't good enough. The market is telling them, it's not good enough. So we think they should cut right now. But we'll day well for now, we're we're worried that they won't we think that they are trying to wait this out. And they hoping that the pass will do it. So for now, we don't think they will follow the market, even though we think they should. I mean, this dovish capitulation that we've seen from the fed is really spurred a wave of sector rotations. How are you approaching the trading strategies approaching investing in the current climate? So we've we've made to two choices one is to in January to add risk in general, and in particular to interest rate sensitive sector, so in that regard, the current fallen interest rates has been a positive for us. And Secondly, we've chosen to take quite a bit of risk in high yield exposure at the start of the year because we felt that a deterioration aspect would help them be devaluation technical and default rate outlook was actually all pretty pretty solid. So that's those are the things that we have done to manage this

U.S. trade deficit hits 10-year high in 2018 on record imports
"Is an observation to be made here as we get going with the big picture economic news of the day. Which is of course, this morning's report from the good people at the Commerce Department that our trade deficit, President Trump's favorite economic indicator. You might remember. Anyway, it grew last year to a record six hundred twenty one billion dollars. That is we imported six hundred twenty one billion dollars more stuff goods and services than we sold abroad. Here. Then is the observation that for all of those hard earned American dollars. We send overseas we get stuff in return their goods and services other countries make that we want so we buy them global trade, the often overlooked point, though, is that the trade deficit isn't some kind of profit and loss statement for the American economy report card, and it's not in and of itself a cause for concern. In fact, the trade gap last year was largely. Driven by a strong domestic economy. Marketplace's Tracey Samuelson gets us going. President Trump talks about the trade deficit kind of a lot. We have a trade deficit with almost every country in the we have a massive trade deficit with everybody. But which aging we racked up trillions of dollars in trade deficits, also known as loss we are going to start whittling that down and as fast as possible. So the fact that the trade deficit grew nearly thirteen percent just last year by his own standard. The higher deficit means he's failing. And that we're losing that other countries are taking advantage of us, but Doug Irwin economists. And trade historian at Dartmouth College doesn't actually see it that way, he says it's natural expected even at the trade deficit increased last year in general what we've seen US history is that when we have a booming economy or a growing economy trade deficit tends to either stay the same or grow. Oh, and they tend to strengthen recessions from two thousand eight to two thousand nine the trade deficit fell by nearly half counterintuitive as it may seem the growing trade deficit last year was driven by how strong the US economy was especially relative to big trading partners, like the European Union and China, Catherine man is the global chief economist at Citi group consumers are buying more because they are have higher income because they're strong labor markets, and because they got a little bit of a tax cut that makes them able to consume more. And some of it falls on imports seem thing with business businesses producing because labor markets are tight they got a little bit of a tax cut. So they import intermediate product so that they can produce goods to meet the demand in the domestic economy, and for a communist, this is all very very predictable. They saw this coming a mile away. If the US really wants to reduce the trade deficit it should. Save more says Carl Tannenbaum chief economist at Northern Trust. One of the reasons we have a trade deficit is that on average our consumers spend a lot more of their income than foreigners to saving not as fun as spending. But ten imams says it make households more stable in the long run and reduce the trade deficit. I'm Tracey Samuelson for marketplace. Well, let's put a context on this morning's trade gap. Number reminder that it's the total value of goods and services that we buy and sell overseas, Tracy was talking about goods that has actual tangible stuff that blew out our trade deficit. Well, here's the deal. The interesting part is that we've got a trade surplus in services have for decades now actually of which we sell a bunch overseas

"Com. Hey, finally, that's my real Email ESPN caddy all one word c. a. d. I e. at gmail.com. I don't think that Email you. We've got different ones. What music. Are you what music were you in Bryson listening to in the car ride and don't lie? We didn't have a musical because we wanted to hear to engine because he we've a gun in it. It was a green SUV Bentley and it was it had a v. eight in it. And when he he kept getting mad because he can't won the floor it, but there kept being cars in front of those. So you guys were eventually the valet dudes and fares Buehler's day off. You were like getting off eventually? Correct. We were because let me tell you something and you put the pedal to metal on a Bentley v eight SUV bro. The front end lifts up. It had so much power. And of course it's got those buttery leather seats that like squeeze you what you said. Like in a hug. It is. So I was just, I'm so jealous. If you're going to sign a deal where every week, wherever town you play in like you get there and everybody else can jump in like the BMW which is one of my favorite cars in the whole world. Anyway, like this week, they would drive BMW's some weeks. They drive Mercedes some weeks. They drive Lexus, but every tournament Bryson plays in, he goes and picks up a Bentley. So everybody else roles in whatever. And then you he rolls deepen Bentley. Yeah, and that's just that's gangsta gonna deepen rule deep at Bentley and join us on Madina. Caddy. Yeah. "Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percents or more. Welcome back, Mattie into caddy. We appreciate the download and listen the fun. As you know, if we're getting close to the Ryder Cup and the tour championship in the FedEx Cup that means fantasy football and football is near. We are this week's the opening week at a college football, the NFL follows a week later. If you guys are fans of betting academy, you know that we were. I hosted the fantasy football marathon and that the caddy was a drafter in the actual draft in the end of our fantasy football marathon here at ESPN will guys recognize me from that from the marathon. I got home when I landed came to my house and I had to have some work done from guests. The some wasn't right with cable. So I'm at the house and three cable trucks show of not one three. And that made me nervous at first because I was like, you Oh, know. maybe those aren't really capable trucked. Maybe the others, something else going down. Yeah, me. But it turned out they were actually working on cable in the dude. One of the Dusit came in was like, hey, why don't you to ESPN caddy guy you on the fantasy draft and look. Yeah, was man as coups hooked him up with hats and now cables blazing. Good. See, that's that goes back to money pays to be nice to people as the be nice, man. I got us from ESPN hats and stuff was cool. It's stunning to me that you run the fantasy football marathon is a drafter yet for the first time in the decades plus that I've been playing fantasy football, someone drafted to kickers and to defense's and it was not my phone caddy look to singers and to defense's this served it. This is like that commercial man. Plus the dude just the whole day was ruined because I am now remember you set the draft while I was still in the media center for the Northern Trust. So of course, it's at the end of the night. I don't have time to jump in the car, make it to the hotel, which apparently. Has a steadier internet then what the media center had at the Northern Trust because right win because it's that wrap around draft. I had to picks the snake draft for those. Yes, the snake draft picks in like on-road, twelve minutes and right as my draft guy popped up bam. Some idiot pulls the cable turns off the internet. So the AP guys throwing a fit of photographer and video guy who was uploading stuff. Everybody starts throwing a fit and I'm like, no, it's going to auto draft and I didn't realize that the auto draft what it does is whatever you put in your cue, whatever's the top, whatever be the top point thing or the highest rank that gets drafted, who's okay. So stay right now. It was stupid enough. Queue and your defense. So it is your fault who put kickers in defense is in their queue. Well, let me think here if the object of fantasy football is the score the most points than if you are smart, what you'll do is you'll go, okay. What to kickers scored the most fantasy points what to are going to be the best opportunity for that. What to defense is scored most fantasy points. Maybe I should check them out. So as everybody did make fun of the fact, and I am a little disappointed, low upset, hoping some people wanna make some trades little bit later, but I will say I got the two best defenses and I got the two best kickers Goodall. EU that whatever thinking to get you combined, you know, it's going to get me that's gonna. Get me a win over you by the kicker, either defend is going to score a touchdown. It's going to be either you or produce. Brucie I'm telling you right now talking all that smack on me. I'm telling you right now. I can't wait to beat somebody because it a kicker or my defense because I'm gonna talk so much smack. Y'all kick me out the league. Will we already do well, actually we're everyone that's already lobby everyone who saying now understand why you invited caddy to being the league because he dressed to defense into these win. That was embarrassing. It wasn't embarrassing. It was an internet thing. It was not look. It wasn't my fault..

"If he's shut it down the last week would have been the perfect week for him to shut it down because any could've played Deutsche Bank and BMW deutchebanks starts on Friday. Like, yeah, you get an extra day off, but it's a day. Now you're gonna play. Deutchebanks BMW have a week off, go toward championship and Ryder Cup, like you going straight to Paris from Atlanta. I would be. You know, I won't like wishing anybody. Bad luck. But if he didn't make the cut at Deutsche Bank and didn't make the toy torch championship and BMW was the last one he played in Philly. I'll be cool with that. Let me look that might that might be in his head to like I need at least shut it down at some point. Let's see. But he he's too much of a competitor to go out there and just hit mean he won't is no way. He's saying bagging it around there, you know? 'cause everybody would just they would take him to task for, which ain't right now you'd stick up for him because you're sticking up for everything today on the podcasts we've gotta get you home for a while and get you some. Some just we re- we gotta get used some good cynicism in you for a little bit. Coming up next. Rafts caddy makes him history. But I recently, I've been receiving all of my tips from the clothing experts at Peter Millar. If you're a gopher like me, you know the name if you don't, you should because Peter Millar is all about quality value in style. "I don't have a problem with that, like you risk missing, big missing big. And then you get rewarded sometimes when you miss big. So that part's fine. I just don't. Remember when Jordan Spieth made everything you looked at? Yeah. And then he went through a time when he didn't. And you remember when Jason day made everything you looked at, then he went to a time when he didn't. Dustin Johnsons putting is always just been man. It's all right. It's not great, but when he's hitting it inside ten feet and then makes it one or two fifteen footers. Bingo. Bango go dues number one in the world that lasts for a few months. And then he gone. Bros kept could just went through the same thing. So I don't understand when people are like tiger has to fix his pudding. He had one round where he had thirty five putts you know, over the weekend, he had twenty eight puts on Saturday and twenty eight putts on Sunday. That's not horrible. That ain't terrible. It's not. It's not terrible, but if you listen to fix well, I don't know if you listen to the guy after his round and he's the one blaming is putting for the reasons not scoring. Well, I kind of listened to the Gulf with it says is putting it hasn't been good. Don't listen to Tiger Woods because he's the same dude when he hits. Four fairways goes, I felt really confident with my driver today and no one goes what they all just nod their head. Oh, what a driver today and then they walk away. Wait, hold on how many fairways did he four? Four like tiger is when it comes to stuff like that. He's the greatest bullcrap editor is and doing the pump fake on people because he knows hardly ever. Does anyone call him out for right there at the time because everybody's trying to there's two hundred people with two hundred different questions, and they ask him something, you know, how did you feel out there today while felt like I had good control on my driver. I was a little disappointed with my irons is the, you know what? Tiger hasn't been talking about why his wedges of sucked green. He can't hit a green from one hundred fifteen yards. That's not an import tween shot. That's a full sandwich. You can't hit agreeing with that. How come you're not talking about that because that's a problem. That's a serious problem. We'll see when people were like, he got to change putters and dude, nah, you do. He needs to do with deejay, did get yourself that track man get your ass on the driving range and don't hit one club more than one hundred and twenty yards yet. I look, I don't think he needs to switch putters. I mean he switched putters himself because he wasn't hitting it with the old part of that is using the entire career. So he decided to try to switch something up and that is worth. Okay. It hasn't been great. I just don't think that if you look at some of Tigers putting over the last couple of weeks aside from Sunday at the PGA championship, I think that he's been average at best. I agree with you there and I look, I will say this. I love the fact that tiger was completely honest when it came to. I just couldn't see the line. He was so about a four foot Putney saw three breaks. Yeah, like, you know what time to get that Lisa checked out and yeah, and there's stuff that he needs to do. But in fact of the matter is. Is he played, I think was what would what day was it? When he bogey-free Friday or Saturday? Saturday, Saturday, bogey-free Sunday one boat and look at look. Weekend. Yeah. So look every week we talk about tiger and something gets better. I just think that at some point he's going to need to get that putter back to where we're consistently talking about him once I got to do what's that take a week off, not to. I said that earlier. I said it would if it were up to me which obviously clearly isn't, but I wouldn't even like big on him playing in these FedEx Cup playoffs. I really want seaman I'm I wasn't one hundred percent behind that idea for the whole play offs, but now thinking about the Ryder Cup and I'm, I'm actually would be cool with it and I would be cool..

"When have we ever seen a dude have a putting day like that and then back, it's like shooting sixty. Yes, you should sixty. You don't come out the next day and shoot sixty four. You come out of the next day and do look, hey, look, Keegan Bradley. Did Keegan Bradley shot? Nine hundred sixty two and then went out and. The ad like to double. He was shot a seventy five. I mean, talking about crash and burn, but that's, that's they call it golf because every other four letter word was taken. No, it's just that's the ebb and flow Gulf win, and it happens to us as amateurs. The problem is we are so still so spoiled from Tiger Woods was so spoiled because we're used to superman when he puts on the superman suit, then then dinner. He's flying in burning buildings saving babies. Twenty-three putz around which is never done, but we think that's the idea we have at our mind. It's almost like the girlfriend from high school. When you look back at you like, oh, maybe whatever happened. She's beautiful in in work house who's crates us amazing in Crete hanging and you forget like she, she was kind of psycho, and I was kind of psycho and it was the horrible. The only thing about the good memories, and that's how we are with tiger. You think man is due to make everything he ever looked at? I think he really didn't, but you you're, you've been traveling. You're wrong a lot today. What I mean? You're you're, you're on three hours sleep, but I'm right about everything you're filibuster in about day Shambo you're talking about tiger what if tiger was so good lately, the why did he switch putters a month ago if everything was ok been longer than a month. So one thing we've seen out of tiger this season has been subpar putting all year. Dude, his boss striking at times has been a horrific with the driver, especially like for instance, eggs. He tells his whole career though. Hold up then how can this ball. Oh, see, this is what I understand. Man, you're just saying that his boss striking has been great and his putting's been terrible, but now you're gonna. Okay. Well, in reality is boss dragging his whole career. You know what I'm saying? Can't he? But you're the one that has said it. Numerous times that tiger is been all over the place with his drivers entire career because he has been in the reason that he's able to hit miracle recovery shots is because he doesn't miss his drive three yards off the fairway, which is the worst rough on the golf course. He misses thirty yards off the fairway to where all the people are. And all you need is opening because you've got a pretty good lie. 'cause autographs in the nasty stuff has been trampled down and that's out..

"You there when you're a hundred and thirty seven years old, if you want to your grandkids, can't look what nNcholas did this year. That's awesome. Nobody remembers and he got like one hundred and thirty seven grandkids. Too. So that's an excuse to get out of doing that because and I think this is this is why I would pay for it if that was on the line because Phil knows it. He lost the tiger and had to put on the Tiger Woods Augusta, National jumpsuit with woods on the back. Can you imagine, here's why exactly? And here's why it won't happen because that would card, but that would take the attention away from the par three contest at the membership at Augusta, National, very sacred to there's no, they don't. Yes, they do know they don't depart three contests, dude, putty, Alexander played day. Look, I think they do. You can have it as much as you want to look daily. They let babies catty and stuff there, they, they'll build it up for you, but they don't want it to be big. They don't want it to be about tiger and Phil, they wanted to be about the par. Three contest is what I'm saying. No, they don't. They don't know. Custom national wasn't want something to be about them. Look, it's still about them, but the par-three contests is about fun and family and what's more fun than either fill caddying for tiger or tiger caddying for fill, and then they're going to play on Thursday. Tell me what up tell me again that there's a broom with Greenjackets going for. We don't need that. They'll be like a bleed God bleed there. That would be the one time the green jackets would be like, I'm sure I would be surprised if I didn't get an Email going, hey, keep pushing it. Please keep was I think his Email account. I think you're off on this one. I do. I know I don't. I think they absolutely love it. They would love it. Hey, I know this when when Jack Nicklaus grandson made that hole in one? Yes, it wasn't about Augusta National. It wasn't about Augusta National about the par-three contests. It wasn't like they had a chance to win, but you mean, but you. You just said something pretty operative in that, which was grandson family. It was a family fair tiger in Phil or adversaries that would be doing it as a site. Not adversaries, oh, anymore. That's right. They kissed and made up correct now. They're like they're like, oh, Bros. now you got, they forgot what they was fighting about. And this is again the coming together at east two guys. I mean, that's that's win, win Dettori med because the tour don't run the tournament and Augusta's not getting anything from pay per view. But guess what? Like. What do you think the ratings for the par? Three contest would be like Hugh agus the now could run all kinds of commercials on, hey, don't forget about the Asian, amateur that we hold and the South American amateur championship who also is going to get to be like that is win, win, win. I agree with what you're saying for all of the right reasons of why it would work. I just think you're being a little lackadaisical in your opinion of thinking Gusta would be all for it. I don't know that they'd be against it, but I don't know that they'd be like, hey, come on, let's do this. All right. We'll move on from that. All right to now Tigers putting because the ball striking this week was really, really good. He's greens and regulations are really, really good when he's he has to putt, when's that gonna happen? Because it was really, really, really bad. Well, did we not see him the last time he was out? Have his least amount of putz. In a major ever ever. He had twenty five putts Sunday at the PGA was brilliant. It was amazing, but..

"I can't look. No, I don't know. I'm not laughing at a loss, not gonna like you're laughing, heavy like yoda's dude had to get up and down from croissant. I want the entertainment value that these two would provide. I will say this, here's the thing. Okay. Look, I will agree with you if you have, if you concede one thing right that the Ryder Cup. 'cause you. Said you want him to go over there and bring the Ryder Cup a home? Yes. Okay. If you now, then you also just said that you want entertainment value? Yes. Okay. So if you concede that the Ryder Cup itself is an exhibition and not a competition, then I will say yes, Phil should go because it will be for entertainment value, but we will not come home with a trophy. And I'm and you know what? I'm fine with that too. If we go look, man, we're just we're going out there to have fun. And you know what? Because the Ridgely this was about growing the game. Yeah, it's about growing a game. So if we're they're having a good time and these are trying to hit these miracle shots all over the place of 'cause we're fills putting them off the tee coup by then I'm in now. We're making concessions to come to an agreement. So now we're negotiating. So you need me. You need me to concede that it's an exhibition out of competition. Correct. Because here's the thing. Everyone says, we've never won over there in a long time and every. Wants to go over there to win. Well, if you're going over there to win, then I want the strongest team possible not the most fun team, not the prettiest team. I wanted to strongest team. I will concede that if you can see that Phil Mickelson's awesome on Twitter. I mean, here's why he's he's the, he's the parent that just figured out something that the kids are doing. Like he just figured out how to use Jeff's. And now all he does on Twitter as us, Jeff's of himself. He did this got us. One of us got our own Jif. Who's at the you have one, I do. I have to know you don't have a GI for yourself? Yes, I do. You do? Yeah. So both of us. Got you. I'm gonna send it to you or you can't like search it and find it. It's not searchable and usable. Okay. Then you don't have a Jif. Okay. So you have one? Yes. How about that? Yeah, I love the, yeah, that false face of a little bit of confusion. Like when I accidentally drafted and fantasy probably and we're going to get to that a minute. The caddy producer Andrew Brooks is giving me his phone because now I'm going to look under. Gifty Gifty Jif. Jif is a peanut butter gif. It's not give it's Jif. Okay, Jif peanut butter? Yes. Yes. Jay, I'm telling you, okay, it's pronounced. Okay. Car seat. We'll get to that. I'm, we're gonna find your Jif here amid look. I, it's, he's one of the great golfers of all time. This is this is last stand at the Ryder Cup, let it happen. I, I don't believe that this has to be as less than what do you mean? You just us two thousand eighteen and nineteen Ninety-four against him. You're telling me he's gonna come back at a couple of years. I'm saying that if he's going to have a going out party a don't want it to be in a nother country. I want him to go out at home and you know how to New York crowd loves him. So the fact that he would get to go out at Bethpage like KOMO, man, if you're going to do a mic drop, walk off the stage, how you gonna walk off the stage at an away crowd. I'm saying, I understand home game. I understand the narrative, but I just don't think why you believe he's going to be more competitive two years from now when he's barely hanging on. Now I didn't say he's going to be more competitive. Two years from now, again is comes back to what I said. Is it. Exhibition or competition. If it's an exhibition and we're giving fill his walk-off, I want him doing it at home. What do you think by the way of Phil and tiger listened the pay per view price at twenty four ninety nine. "Are we to blame for that? No, I think you made it makes the liquor. So, hey, we got who at the shank, not so much. We agree now it here has to make him a captain's pick them? Yes, the team set. I don't agree with it, but at the team said, give it to me, the four captives picks tiger Phil, Tony, phenom Bryson. They have to be, and I think that's why don't you agree with that? I think it's fantastic. I would rather have fills in assistant captain. I don't. I don't believe. I think if if I think right, I disagree if you're a cast to make three picks after the BMW and those three picks after be tiger Tony, female, embracing de Shambo. And I think he holds fill close to the vest. Because I think Phil look fills, never had to be a pick ever. Can you? I mean who? No, I don't know that anybody else can say that every single Ryder Cup that he has been. Qualified every single one that has been played that he has had the opportunity to qualify for he's qualified on his own man. He's played at every president writers cups as ninety four, yes. Yeah. And it's now two thousand eighteen. So you don't want Phil to have go to perish and have one last run. I disagree with him. I want you know where I want his last run in America. One of home now, no, I wanted to go over there and take it and bring it home. I look, he did it as an assistant. See I want him out there. 'cause I think Phil with his flair for the dramatic. I really believe that if Phil gets on this in compla-, he's that guy that'll somehow channel some help about this. A lot of if they're, I believe, if he and the spectacular, you know what else he can specs Hegley do fail. I've tried that before too. I trust him more than tiger and a Ryder Cup. The records are both bad. I know. But in this situation I trust I trust Phil what I do more than tiger right now. Yeah. Oh, because I think tiger thinks too much. Phil will just go let them hang who you think's gonna play with braces. She imbo. It's either going to be tiger Phil and I love that you ain't putting them with Dustin Johnson. Does the Johnson played nine holes last year with or two years ago? Anyway, he played nine holes DJ play nine holes with Phil and Bryson d Shambo and they get to the ninth green. And you know Bryson fill. They start going off scientific about the golf swing, and they go to the ninth green and they're gonna make the turn and DJ looks at. Both of them are goes amount guys them out because he goes, if I listen to you guys for one more f. and I'll never make an effort pot again fee. That's great. Let them play together at the Ryder Cup and take it to the Europeans they, but they're not going to take it to the Europeans. What are you putting your not put them in foursomes. He does like when at the Arnold Palmer, when he was battling a slight injury and tried to explain the injury itself in a medical in medical terms, I'm pretty sure three or four two words were made all one hundred percent were. Yeah, it would never play him in scrabble because I'll be looking at dictionary the whole time when chick when he putts. When Brighton putz forget it, you don't like is no. No, no, no, no, no. When he's making putts when he's actually putting affectively. Yes, when he starts getting that going all of the time because the way that he hits the golf ball and the way that he plays overall, he's got that kind of game that if he starts rolling in pods on a consistent basis, it's it's going to be just add him to that list of young great golfers that are out right now. And that's one of the things that they asked them about two in his press conference was like, do you feel like now you're part of the new young guns. You know that that whole under and he was like, I don't even really know what category I'd put myself in because I don't. I don't consider myself an age. See again? No, I know. But when he. That I don't expect him people to say like it's how he comes off. I know what you're saying. Now, the guy and I liked him, but it's how he comes off, but this is the thing and MRs why? And I'm not making an excuse for Bryson d Shambo I'm just telling you I've been around this guy and I understand the way that people talk about him and then sometimes talk to him or through him or try to say things to get him fired up. I understand why he'd have an edge that he has because. I've been there two people. You can't talk like that in golf. You can't do that. There's no place for that. Guess what yet or is I'm here. So in a way I feel that way about bracing d Shambo because it's like the guy. I've tried those one size. Every club is like a six and a half iron. I've tried it. I saw guy shake one at the US open. Yeah. Remember walking with them a pro approach, a professional golfer, hit a shake last year at the US open trying to play Bryson's clubs and even Bryson even told him. I'll know if you want to do that right now. It was on a par, three open fire, walk with Bryson and a practice round, and we're messing around with him. And he's showing the these tricks that he can do. A golf club is getting so man. Oh, we would you get your work as a k. guys watch me do this, and then we get to a par three was the par-three ninth or eight Aaron hills. Yep. And the guy that he was in a practice run. It's like, hey, let me try one and Bryson's like shoe try when it's up, right. I don't know if he's, I don't know if this is gonna be right member. Put your six hundred twenty. Now let me try it. I could do any warns the galleries. I guys watch out there. Before this guy hit, and then he hits it and I'll be damned if you didn't shake it so severe. The fact that this guy still has his eyeball is stunning. Yeah, that was that was really funny and everybody laughed at first. It was even the marshalls and stuff. We're laughing and you've ever wanted guy goes, hey, you want that ball back. And now I'm not even sure that ball ever existed. All right. But that was funny because it was in the bunker. We went down into the bunker on par three ninth hole and Bryson started, hey, check this out and watching. I'm going to play outside the bunker and try and land it watch. It won't stay on the green, and now we're gonna hit it off this down, slow from into bunker and check it out. And this cat. He's like, p, come on, man, we gotta get that working. Let's go get you worked. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, Matt might come here and look like glue off the upslope watch. He likes to cut that week..

"So if you project down the road, no lights east late in Atlanta, and if you could somehow get hot here in the play offs, get himself. In the top five, you know anyone who's in the top five when you get the east lake, they win the tournament. They win the fed Ed stuff that why not take your shot now project down the road, the guy that knows how to play there can't lay forty two one at five times to win the FedEx gobs inter Sean, play sixty to one to win the FedEx Cup over there. And one last thing I want to touch on here real quickly, Brian, I don't want to keep you too long. Is that you? You mentioned this already the top one hundred move on, then it's the top seventy. Then it's the top thirty here for these four FedEx Cup events. So while these guys want to win while they wanna get that payday and are two thousand FedEx Cup points to the winner. For this one, there's also a little bit of strategy involved. Once you get to Saturday and Sunday where maybe you won't be as aggressive to get moving onto the different tournaments, or maybe you won't be as aggressive to avoid falling back and giving up too many of your points and that could be relevant for somebody like you because I know that you liked to bet you'll internment futures. You see how guy looks on Thursday or. Friday and then decide to fire at that point. So there is also that strategic element to it here this weekend as well. Oh, there's no doubt. I mean, like you Cindy in, you know, I got a bad taste in my mouth. You know, heading into the weekend, I got the seat pan kid. He that tournament suspense pocket hit an OB on eighteen. It was sickening. You know. But that's one of those things where you're watching the tournament midstream and you can identify guy that's hitting the ball great, and he just caught it up trying to win his first tournament being an OB on eighteen. But as you're watching the event, you look guys stand on the leaderboard a lot of times Adam and we've seen it. That's the difference a little bit with golf. When you're miss of, we hate you talking about motivation in the free season. You know where you staying the leaderboard dictate your motivation. So some guy, it's three or four back on Sunday, believing you're, you get a quality guy, you know, in fifteen twenty two one range just literally knows he's got to go and because he's going low, he gets off to the good start, and he keeps going and gets them on minimum. Then all of a sudden you got the guys at the top dinner protecting elite and they're shooting at the middle of greens. If that guy in front of them teach though, and all of a sudden you spent the first seven whole shooting at the middle of greens and all of a sudden you gotta flip a switch and it's not an easy. To do. Good insights into the Gulf bending market from Brian blessing the host and sports radio and Vegas hockey hotline, Brian.
