Next, you attacked transplant in a luxury condo, most in support of moving ahead with the purchase is immediately think cut, stunning item. 31 32 is cool and unnecessary. City Council member Mackenzie Kelly asked to postpone a vote on the purchase of the hotel in her district. One on Picon Park. We have the unique opportunity here today to postpone the vote. Take a fresh and friendly approach the relationship that the city has with residents that live here, but those house and on house and that request was granted. The other hotel on Burnett will now become property of the city after a vote of approval as we continue these conversations About people experiencing homelessness way really double down on having robust conversations about addressing our house in crisis in our city. Go. That is the latest on that front of from Ktbc. They'll move forward with mine that additional property during the next council meeting, there were several people that spoke in support of buying both of these hotels. There's only a handful of people maybe five or six people that live in District six that actually spoke against this idea. The rest of the folks sound like they were militant types from Greg Hussars, You know, Resistance Army just attacking people in this zoo meeting yesterday must be well here for some of that later this morning. "North Austin. Hello, Jesse. Good morning. Good morning. How are you all doing this fine, Jessie. Lovelace is the all every day. Morning and afternoon. Thank you for You were talking about the teacher situations. Enough is enough. Um What's the old saying? Be careful what you wish for. Because these teachers administrators, I mean the whole school system itself, and I'm not going to love everybody is not all of them or wanting or not wanting to go. We're not wanted to go back to school. They don't even wanna go back to school to go into a room by themselves. This is utter ridiculousness. So this is what's gonna happen. Careful what you wish for teachers and administrators and school officials. If that's the case, then I don't need 30 teachers at a school anymore. I only need 12. Because if everything is online, and everybody's staying at home We don't need school buildings now, and we don't need his many teachers we don't need as many administrators. I went on and on. So like I say, careful what you wish for because there's another side to what you want. And that is people losing their jobs anyway, and I'm not paying for schools, school buildings that we don't need. Yeah, when some of them started saying as they did in San Antonio, we don't even want to go into a classroom alone and do the online teaching. That is just outrageous. Many people see that is totally absurd. It undercuts their whole safety thing to say. I can't even go into a classroom by myself. What have you been doing since March? I don't. Even if you have been the most careful, you would have to have not have let your house at all for me to think. That you truly think that An absolute self quarantine, right? And I mean no one in your house has left and come back into the house like everyone that lives in your house has not broken the seal of that front door back door. To get in or out. And we all know that is not the case. That right, Jessie, You have a good one. Mike and North Austin has a comment about the rally this weekend supporting the Austin police. Hi, Mike. Good morning. How you doing? Good morning to both of you. How you doing? Fine here from you, Mike. Well, I was a participant in yesterday's support for the needy. We started. We did rally Saturday. We did another one on Sunday, visiting all the you know most all local police stations. And sheriff departments. And he used the word brawl in your segment. Just you know, a second ago. There were no real brawls there, seven or eight people on while we were there on their side was arrested. That was the only couples really going on. None of us got arrested. We followed the rules and there's so I just want to clarify that we showed up. Show support for the police and you know the other side did their thing and most everybody on their side. You know they were approached, verbally protest ng not causing any trouble. But of course, you're going to have a few In the group that Try toe Stir it up. And soon as those seven or eight leaders got arrested, the risk of kind of lost didn't know what to do. What did they do to get arrested? Mike? Um, well, the 1st 1 to be arrested was this one lady? She point Putting your fingers in some guy's face and started went across the line that the police had designated as a do not cross line. Shoved one of our guys and of course, they warned us, just like they warned them. There's no tolerance Zero tolerance day, Okay? And so soon as she saw the police governor course he ran. They got her and then People trying to get me drunk People trying to get police off her, then in turn, got arrested, And then there was a second wave of that, and that's when pretty much all the rabble rouser has really got. Taken in. And of course, from our perspective, we said, we showed up to give the A P D and other police department support they brought the entertainment The other side of entertainment. In a nutshell. What motivated you to take part in this and go down there and support the police might Well in your new segment. You you meant mentioned Louis. Um He's one of the co founders of The wind therapy. Oh, my God. Will there be freedom writers and the wind therapy? Freedom writers organized it, And there was about that 56 different chapters that participated No motorcycle groups have participated. And it is just Ah, of course, the tag line for the event was silent. No more. Yes, Tyler Majority that support the police. Andi, we decided, you know they put together. Ah, plan for silent, no more. We're going to go down and show support for the police. And apparently, this group found out about it and stays. Ah counter protest last minute counter protest. Turned out to be what it wass. So what? What do you think will happen in Austin Mike if the City Council goes through with its plan to cut $100 million out of the budget Well, that's where I'm super disappointed. We are all humans and we all have some form of common sense. There is cause and effect and they can't be so blinded. They can't see what the effect is going to be, and that's the disappointing part. We as citizens are hostage to their decision. Yes. And and there's all weaken do is vote amount, but You know, we just gotta wait our turn to cast that vote. And in the meantime, take whatever their vote what their decision is, however, that plays out you're right, and it could take years to reverse the damage they've done, Mike. Thank you very much. It's not the kind of thing where you flip the light switch. And you instantly have 150 or 200 brand new train professional police radio. Yes, Mike. Thanks. You have a good one. Let's check in with Kim, who has a comment about the situation with the schools and the teachers on K. L. J. Welcome to Mark and Melinda. How are you today? Kim? I'm really well, Thank you, Bart. And thank you for your great show. I called him before, so I I'm not. I'm not really a people were calling in and you're all I think he has this thing about What about Kim? Kim Kim? We're having a terrible time hearing a lot of wind noise. Yeah, I'm outside. But I'll stop moving. Maybe that'll help. Oh, that's much, much better. Thank okay. Sorry. I was walking with you. Okay. Sorry, so I have. I'm a college teacher. I taught online for the first time this summer. I know that that's different. That double school that there seems to be a real misunderstanding about how much work online teaching is and people are calling in. And you all are mentioning how you'll need less teachers and this and that. It's just the opposite. Like It's three times the amount of work to teach.

"D. in north Austin Hey JD good morning how are you doing a good morning mark Melinda how are y'all we're well thank you couple quick points I wanted to cover there's as to your point Melinda there is a number of contradictory data points coming out about this and most of the of course with the attitude of the legion leads in the worst case scenario items are coming out first so all of this how old will you be zero interest is in how deadly it is is based upon most people being tested or most of the tests are going to those who were more systematic than others you know you have the studies like out of Stanford where they've found a lot more evidence of people who have had the disease and gone through it and just reacted to it like a minor cold or something which means that the death rate for the disease is much less than what's being put out and considering that they're shutting down and totally disrupting people's lives based on this and I'm not you know ten four I'll have you know a helicopter conspiracy guy but in past instances of like the swine flu virus in the sars virus outbreaks everything started out real bad because all of the documentation was based upon the death number tallies in the hospitalizations but once it all works its way out it's a lot less severe then what it initially comported itself to be so we have to keep in mind that these stories that are coming out in the woods and the numbers are reported all this worst case stuff and we haven't had the time or the ability to get the other supporting numbers to make more rational decision on this well at this this point we know that the eighty thousand have died and it continues to go up we also know that we need to restart our economy and we have to find a way to do it as safely as possible knowing that there are some people who could get this indict there has to be a balance somewhere JD thanks very much in that is the key but the it is the key and the idea that we are going to completely stop the spread of this and prevent anyone from ever getting this again I think is ludicrous and if that's what you're basing re opening on your mind as well just throw in the towel now and say we're never going to re open yeah that's not going to happen it and that is a that is a standard that's not attainable if anybody says we we we don't want anyone else to get infected that's not gonna happen no that's not possible we've got protest underway today at the capitol bar owners are protesting the people who own tattoo parlors are pro testing they want to be able to re open they're pushing governor Abbott if the others can do it let us have a crack at it I would like to know what came out of the call for the bar owners I had to call in because governor Abbott threw that out there listen you know we had the the hair stylist in the hair salon owners calling us so that we were able to come up with a plan to safely reopen I would like to know if they got that kind of feedback from any of the bar owners and if so are we in the process I I can't imagine he's going to have to wait that much longer I don't think he can wait that much longer to say okay now we can open bars the tattoo parlors I don't understand because he opened up the nail salons are in other salon so I'm not exactly sure what the wait was on that what it is they may have to start with a certain category of bars if if if a bar has a huge dance floor where everybody's packed in together they might say okay not yet but other types of bars they can have some kind of separation in distancing with tables and in seating they might start with those I would think you would be better off starting with the one with the big dance floor because I can give you more space it also socially distance apart if its tables on the dance floor you're in you may have to do that you may hurt you move seating to your dance floor to discourage dancing and then to actually be able to have the social distance as well let's go to J. at ten thirty six good morning Jay you're on with mark and Melinda how are you this morning love the show the rain I'll take a rain it's good for us what it is Hey we've sort of had a an issue I don't breaking news but we are being told by Texas workforce commission that we re hire are nonessential workers that we have to offer them the job back with that that's normal but what we're being told is that if they don't accept the job back in Austin based on the way that the the edict or whatever it is it's written do you think that that that we're gonna be you know we're gonna automatically lose on an unemployment claim appeal so that's were being told by Texas workforce commission the same because the city still has it stay at home work safe order that data over rides you saying I I offer them their job back and they refused yes we have very complicated problem we have a both presidential and nonessential workers at our locations and business is great but it's really a problem because we want to hire them back in need are turning is and you know different you know our insurance agents are telling us you know if you hire folks back and they get sick you know the look are your liability coverage so we're just stuck in a catch twenty two on what what is the reason they give you J. for not wanting to come back to work well it's not really something they're gonna save they're getting an extra six hundred dollars a week on top of the unemployment so they're just saying that I do not accept the job I don't want to come back and they leave it at that yeah pretty much well we've we've talked to many many many times from day one about that extra six hundred dollars a week it was obvious the first day they unveiled that it would create a challenge when people are ready to bring the workers back especially since they know that this goes until the end of July why would you rush now I mean they were only the beginning of may I still can get a couple more months of this but I can't blame them I mean it's six hundred dollars extra in on top of that you know we're we're stuck in that we're stuck in a precarious position of not being able to rehire folks you know the rain doesn't go away you know the the the support staff that there really is important I mean we need those people there and it's just basically impossible to get posted yet backing gates well the first service rifle I can imagine the fact that the city has extended this which then says those workers don't have to come back is just to me another example of saying we don't want our small businesses back up and running what we're really fortunate business is really good it's just stressful who you know all the support staff all the nonessential folks and we think are essential but they're not labeled or team that bothered by the city what kind of work is it J. body shop with the body shop a mechanical repairs okay so you've got the demands but you don't have enough staff to meet all the demand did you get one of those loans we looked at the PPP loans and you know amongst the board decided that the long term risk of them not really understanding exactly how some of the capital gains at work yeah if we could use them for certain things we went ahead and decided that we would not take them and I don't know if that's going to end up being a bad decision or not but no we didn't all right J. good luck with all of that Sir thanks so much you take care you bet thank you guys bye bye five one two eight three six zero five ninety he mentioned the Texas workforce commission The Dallas Morning News as a story today that they are still having trouble helping people who are trying to get their unemployment benefits or get the correct benefits yeah one of the people in the stories said he's been trying since March seventeenth fast forward to mines and he says it's just a never ending circle words I go online online says you must call when you call it says you must go online and it just is never ending and so here he is two months later still hasn't been able to file and he's made over a hundred calls gone online many many times and he's not the only one multiple people were quoted in this up by name giving their horror stories of trying to deal with all of this five one two eight three six zero five ninety ten forty one with market Melinda hi "We're also talking about this case out of Florida that has America talking. lease officer for the school district was called in and he cocked an arrested two different six year olds yes two different six year old Compton remove them put him in the police car took them down to the juvenile center for booking he has now been fired by that school district police department they said his error was not in getting the final approval from his area commander to arrest the kids yeah you're supposed to if they're under the age of twelve you're supposed to get approval he did not go that route he just took this upon himself however. this guy might have been in a really difficult position here I'm not I will I was very quick to judge him the more we talk about this the more I realize it's ridiculous that he was there at all Kevin is in north Austin with mark and don seven eleven Hey Kevin good morning welcome. Sir I just wanted to call in touch base with you all and just give a little bit of a different perspective on situation like this I don't condone or no this situation my wife works for school district in the area in the special education department and sometimes of the students that they are need to work with some of them can be very unruly and to the point where they have to constantly or by I personally well I'd not wasn't there but my wife tells me about so sometimes when she's been bit and and bled out as well as that had been hit things like that so to be challenging vertically if the student is in high school or or the older and larger so there's a lot of stress on on the teachers and also those who support the teachers on there so that's this one a lot call in a planned she a high school teacher Kevin she will she is a special education works in special education to support the high school and other schools in the area well we have heard similar stories in recent years from teachers themselves Korean and talk about being attacked by kids so this is not an isolated case so now it's not and it's it's unfortunate because my wife has told me a lot of that lately and she is in Vienna and the support which is not assigned to teach in a row with listings like this which is going to support like that where she's even been attacks so it's just it's just unfortunate but there's a lot of stress as one of the old Republic that the educational process has four of those who work there it is extremely stressful it's a very difficult place for the teacher the other kids in the classroom we were not taking part in the physical

Sydney is in north Austin good morning Hey Jason good morning guys I'm question about this whole home the situation. where okay the last few years there was a really big problem with some camping in the woods you know where there was these whole you know communities out there in the woods now did the city push them. out of there and back on the streets chase and that is an interesting point that you bring up it was about two years ago the city went on this massive effort to why go out there and chase them out of the woods they were on fire. hang on a second the numbers haven't risen so did they just push him out of the woods and bring it to everybody's attention yes that's exactly what they did so that you will spend more money on these various programs that's insane yeah it is and if they didn't do that what's going on out in the woods how bad is it out there yeah that's true you know he's right it's about two years ago a PD on four wheelers would go into those wooded areas and clean them up a little bit Jack on people that sort of thing Schumer way private property he's right well in the end I guess I can give you an example it to ninety and William cannon near creek there there was almost can't back in the woods that I could kind of see every time I went through that you could kind of see through the trees and it was a big homeless camp well that's gone and now they're all at the intersection of two ninety in William cannon yeah do in their good work yeah so it's all going according to plan yeah it's all going according to plan I guess so that's why the mayor went out to California to learn how they did it to learn how to learn what's not working out there right that's. the state was honest about I want to go see what's not working there David in north Austin good morning. good morning yeah hi Sir. I just had a comment about the the covenant that they were making that makes the city liable if the rules are being followed yeah and they said well you get to sue the city if we don't follow the rules isn't that the people of Austin serene themselves why doesn't city council make themselves liable personally yeah if it's not followed that way we can actually believe it yeah that was poetic justice wasn't it to mean you're absolutely right. yeah you're absolutely right Dave good points I don't know why that one the mayor is arguing and defending like he was last night in this town hall in like he's done another town halls he's arguing that the public the public is really frustrated right now and he's still telling us that we don't know what he's telling us we don't know what we're talking yeah what you see is not what you see right he's done he's doing a jet I mind trick on you instead of these are not the droids you're looking for no it's like there's no compassion for us. there's no compassion for the taxpayers here yeah and in the mayor he's a lefty so if you speak out against him at all then you you hate people you hang Uman beings right the reality is racist by the way the reality is I take the mayor at his word he does want to get people off the streets I'm taking him at his word I'm giving the benefit of the doubt yeah okay so the way we want to get people off the streets the solutions are the problem will salute the devil's in the details and the timetable apparently allowing people to sleep under a bridge should never be allowed no that should be a crime not safe it's not safe it's inhumane to allow people to sleep on the streets are not safe it's not safe for them it's not safe for us either yeah it it's it's not it's not good for businesses it affects us in other ways listen the Austin school district has a has a message for parents this morning please stop feeding your kids and rely on the government so too do the what a sad sad story this is who we use to KXAN reports if your kids bring lunch from home then the Austin I. "The wells branch mud north Austin, mud number one and the north town mud as well. You're all included in this boil water notice that started at six o'clock this morning over the weekend. The city asked us to cut back on our water. But now this morning, they actually are out with a full on boil water notice if you're gonna consume it you have to boil it. I if you're going to wash dishes, it's okay to wash the dishes, but you got to rinse the dishes in boiled water. This is a big deal for hospitals in restaurants. I would think that food trailers today are going to be off limits now. No kidding. I. I mean when you start start thinking about how far reaching this is it is kind of mind boggling, and so there you go. But would you drink the water today out of the tap? Yeah. You are not recommending anybody do it. But yeah, I would I would that's not based on any kind of scientific experiments have done. But I'm sure it's an abundance of precaution. Which is a great idea. But I think that the message would probably have a lot more urgency to it. If if if we were really endanger right now. But again, nobody's endanger, I'm not saying don't heed the warnings. But you know, the mayor sure didn't have a very serious tone to his voice this morning. Normally we could produce over three hundred million gallons a day. We haven't been much over one hundred for the last two days. And that's about what awesome nights are using. That is a big deal. You you may think it's safe to drink. I wouldn't. But that's the big issue right there. Produce three hundred million gallons a day, and we're barely producing one hundred million. Yeah. That affects everybody, man. That's that's a big deal imperative that not only you boil water that you're going to consume. But you do all that you can to reduce the amount of water that you use until we can get through this event that is Austin waters general manager, Greg Missouri, saying the water's safe, I have no idea. I'm just saying I don't think we're gonna have death in the streets from people drinking the water today. It's not on that level. But I wouldn't recommend drinking the water jump in here at five one two eight three six zero five ninety you couldn't be more confusing right now. You know, what can I say? I don't drink the water already says if you're going to consume it boil it first. Yeah. It'd be baby formula things like that. You should be watering yard. You shouldn't be watering your your flowers around the business. There you go. We just drink mostly sunny D. Anyway, now getting word from here's here's why this is a big deal. Apa the OSs Austin pets alive they can't boil enough water. They may not have the means to boil water in Austin pets alive or the animal shelter kitchen. They have wait a minute. Wait a minute. Let me finish. Let me finish. Got a message from them. They are asking people to to bring bottled water to the Austin pets alive in the animal shelter. Now, we have dogs that drink out of the toilet. We have cats that drink out of the toilet. We have cats and dogs that will drink puddle in the ground, and they're absolutely just fine. Now, why should people be taking bottled water to Austin pets alive? I think that's the city manager the water department director and the mayor on a day we begin early voting. They came out and had a press conference don't consume it pets or people until you boil it. That's why. Okay. Okay. Well, listen Barbie it for me to be an, you know to give advice on this kind of thing. But I think bottled water to Austin pets alive for the cats and dogs is kind of overkill, but whatever. All right jump in here at five one two eight three six zero five ninety toll free eight seven seven five nine zero five five two five. Yeah, we got. Got they also have a frequently asked questions out there on what you could do if you want to you know, how to boil it. It's got to be raging boiler roiling boil for at least three minutes. For it to be safe. But let's be very clear. Don't drink the boiling water, please. Wait till it's cool down. I understand. They're not saying be clear. They're not saying drink boiling water. Okay. Just just to be clear just to clear ourselves from any potential lawsuits. They're not saying drink boiling water. Right. Wanna make sure get a couple of questions coming into the Todd and Larry show. Couple of questions here. I'll get to that in a minute, but people are sending Todd and Larry some questions is Larry call you Larry because you've got a text message from. You're from Beto Aurora. Sure did the Beto campaign sent me a text message. And I assume that a lot of you got text messages from him. And he they said Larry the called me. Larry. So obviously had no idea. There was your name. I did not either. Obviously, they're they're doing their homework. Good work Beto campaign. I'm not voting for you. And if I had any inkling to do so you certainly just killed that by calling me by name. Yeah. Got my name wrong. I have no. You don't want people to know that right, right? Very private to you. Even though beta is pretty questionable for you. You just outright called me the wrong name. So sorry can't help you. Let's see all the luck in the world and all your future endeavors. Yeah. But if you got bottled water, you want to donate Austin pets alive, they say, they need it, man. Does anybody call them? Bravo. Sierra on on that particular one. I am. I think that's kinda dumb now for the employee's there. Yeah. Sure. I got it. I got it for for for animals that will drink every day of their lives. Multiple times today out of a toilet some of those dogs. Some of those dogs that are picked up by the humane society in Austin pets alive in the city's animal shelter. Some of them are picked up as their drinking water from lady bird lake. That's right. They somehow seem to weather that storm. So let's see here. Chris Dodd show. Good morning. Good day. Hey. I need to water my yard. I say. On the other thing if your immune system. Oh, we lost. You there? Your phone's cutting in and out there, Chris you there. All right. I'm not sure what he had a question about. But there you go. It is eight forty five we take a look at Austin's on time traffic. Here's Don usual delays in place. Very very heavy right now. Few wrecks around town have won clearing up right now. This is.

"Right now. Nine forty seven Todd Jeffries and little Don prior the president's going to speak shortly apparently UN ambassador, Nikki Haley has turned in her resignation. Yeah. President has accepted that the word issue will continue on the job to the end of two thousand eighteen and beyond that we don't know yet. Wow. She'll make that announcement a little bit later this morning. I guess are working to speculate at this point. And she's done some things at the UN. She has she's been very very strong in that position. Is a good governor. Yeah, she's been a great public servant, a very powerful woman in politics doubt about it. And may have other dreams in the political. I think we know what's going on here. She and Trump have had an affair, and apparently she's carrying his love child, and she has to step down. And that's what's going on. And you know, damn well, Gary north Austin good morning. Warning, what's taking place in our country. It's very simple understand this country was created violent into a democracy. We are now watching the democracy taken away through violence. We're not a democracy where a constitutional Republic. Yes. Okay. But it was created with violence is being taken away from us now with violent when you have elected officials in our country. Do what they're doing band standing up and shouting that you need to get in people's faces run out of a restaurant. These other elected officials the costed because people don't agree with their philosophy. What when you people blocking Lamar Sprigg for our the lease won't act appreciated that very simple. It's nothing, but well data taken place twenty years ago. What do you mean was was there protesting twenty years? Just a tad. What do you think the police in Austin would've allowed that road blocks for that many hours twenty years ago? How long it was blocked over the weekend? But it was really no big deal. I don't know why we give them any too. So what they block the street? Well, actually was a big deal that were in traffic. They blocked it during ACL right down next to ACL on the Lamar bridge over the lake, and it was it was a mess. Let's just of stinky college students art majors with girlfriends have hairy armpits where berkinstocks. Yeah. That's all it is. Nobody cares. I don't know. Smell like, Julie. I don't know why very true. And I love Pachulia. I don't know why they were allowed to do that. They were they were creating a real traffic. Nightmares? You have the right to protest in this country block roads. So why why why it wasn't that long? So what let them do it and move on. No big deal. I was in. I was in the traffic champ. That's why I have a problem with it. I was stuck in it. Yeah. Is there anything you're passionate about? I mean, I don't believe what they believe. But it's everything you're passionate about that. You would protest. Well, of course, there is of course, the yes, I mean if it had anything to do with that was really going to strongly affect me and my family with our safety or financial situation. Yeah. Sure. I would. But if it if it made sense if I thought that I was going to make a difference. That's the thing. I I would have to feel that I could really make a difference. If I was going to get out and protests something. Yeah. So that's the thing. I don't want to waste my time or other people's time. I gotcha. All right. I'm not gonna go block a bridge. That's not your style. Not my style. You don't even like bridges. I've never picketed anything. I've never protested in my life. Never have. No, no, always just found better things to do. Just always just kind of gone with the flow. Sometimes I do sometimes I just go with it. Absolutely. Right. That's me. What's that sound? That's my new techs tone. And I got to get rid of it. Sound like a foghorn? I know who's texting you at this time of day Ross wrath Gaber right now right now, we're right in the middle of the show Rossano. It doesn't stop him. He texts me at midnight in bed is he is he the guy that singer smart things to say, thanks to say. No, no. What do you mean? I'm just curious. Paul good morning. Good morning. I love your show Condon. How y'all do? I love your bag Paul. What's going on, man? Oh, not much just waiting for some more rain. What's good? And what's the good word out there and Kingsland how what are the what are the fish biting on? I wish I know I'll ever have an opportunity to go vision. But you got you got you got the deer feeders full yet. They should be full by the. Yeah. Yeah. They're full already out there. We got him on the ranch, you're gonna get it. You're going to get you a big big access. What are you gonna get this year? What are you looking for? Towns and pigs lots of hogs out here. I prefer the little pigs though, not the big ones. Oh, yeah. You need a little the little pigs. They're the best in the smoke and those big ones start taking like start tasting like trash. You gotta get rid of them because they just got the whole range land. I tell ya, Dan. Pigs. A little a little lake to the respond. But there's a caller before the eight o'clock news break. I think his name was marking is asking you or demanding to know what the Republicans have done for the state of Texas. Yeah. The first thing that came to my mind is made Texas a sanctuary states from California Democrat. Yeah. That's true. Lower taxes for compared to California and great business. I tell you what I tell you what Republicans in Texas have accomplished the Republicans in the state of Texas have done a very good job of keeping democrat ideals out of the capital about that. Yeah. I agree. Appreciate that. Go shoot. Some pigs. Are you going hunting this year? So excited about this year. Man, I'm ready. Good for dear dear access. It's my turn to get the big buck at the what the guys are you on every other guy in the group that I go hunting with they've all gotten over the past few years taking turns you get in the big one is my turn to get the big one. I would not be able to pull that trigger would not be able to do it. I don't fall you for doing it. I'll eat the meat if you wanna bring me some of the meat. I will gladly eat it, but I cannot shoot it. Well, listen, if you're if you eat it, you should be willing to kill it. I will be willing to kill something if they're about to kill me. But again, I don't fault you for shooting deer. I don't most of my friends are in my family. I really don't care. What you think? I know you don't care what I think. I'm I've been aware of that since. Since two thousand eight hey, Mark and Melinda. They're coming up next. "That is incredibly aggressive that is that's pretty interesting. If you can't make these demands we want a divided the two school districts is being held hostage at the moment. By the way. I mean, what do you mean? When you have these kind of sounds like there or else, what is or else what else legal action or civil disobedience? That's what Jim Harrington of the Texas civilized projects. That's a strength. Now. Here is the list of fifteen demands we're not gonna get to a mall because some of them are a little redundant a ISD's number one. Priority must be raising immediately academic success in majority black and Brown, schools and enhancing enrichment programs in these schools. Basically what they're saying is is the principals at schools in east Austin, the teachers at schools in east Austin are a bunch. Bigots. That's what they're saying. Those people in those schools are not providing a quality education to the kids that is what these community activists sing. Saying I'm just curious how did the teachers in east Austin, and and the principles how do they how do they feel? Yeah. Whenever you have community leaders hold a press conference, including a school board member. That says you're screwing up kid how much merit is there to what they're saying. I want to know as far as the demand some of their demands are, you know, as far as there's too much segregation, they want to want to draw these new lines. What does that have to do with inspiring kids? What does it have to debate in that the bottle? Here's here's what they say that the the kids black and Brown kids should be able to go to other schools that are better better performing. Well. Those schools are better performing because the kids in the schools are better performers. That's right. And that's because a lot of that is has to do with what's going on at home. None of these demands nothing in that press conference yesterday said anything about parent involved. Nope. Nope. Nothing about hey, moms and dads. It's time for you to step up and join the PTA and get invested in your child's education because they don't know what to do. I think they know that ultimately that is the answer. They don't know how to crack that one. It's just amazing. I think maybe they want to mess with that one. I think that one is just too overwhelming. It's too big. It's too massive. Where do they begin John? Good morning. Hey, good morning serve. So the way they find out about who is poor. How what percentage to have as far as they go by the free and reduced lunch less? Which is on the honor system, you show up and say you want it you get it not asking for any documentation at all. We could show up and ask for those breakfast. Yeah. Are you there you there John? We're just completely blew him away rattling with facts. I apologize. He was calling in to have a conversation on feeling he just he was just blown over backward. Busy talking about facts. I apologize rendered him unconscious, John we're talking about facts. Albert in north Austin? Good morning. Hey, yeah. I just wanted to mention that. You know, my mom actually sport for a school in north Boston. And you know, she don't meet that basically, she quit was because she was a teacher for years. Because. The the the administrators. They just don't care about the kids. Patriots. David said to her, you know, that that the kids are useless hopeless. Don't worry about them. Just make sure you do the test to make sure you this or whatever. That's a broad brush. Your said your mom was a teacher at a high school on the east side of town. Element. And administrators would tell her these kids are hoping more like principles and four. It's more. Just like they have some of them don't care and some. I'm not saying I'm not trying to say everybody here. Here's a firm schools that are like that. If we have teachers and principals in some schools that have that attitude we need to know who they are somebody somebody anonymous in the school system needs to write them out. So we can fire them whoever they on whoever whoever the principle is this whoever is that principle that told your mom that we need to know who that is. No, I agree. I mean, that's something we've talked about. And believe me. I I think that there have been there have been complaints has been. You know, things that have happened at school. I don't know exactly what I don't keep up with it. But I do know that that that is what happened, and that's why. Yeah. Yeah. I hear you. I understand. And. Unreal. End of you and the bad ones, we need to get rid of them. It's just like any other industry out there, any profession you're going to have those who just don't give a rip and they're just collecting a check for listen. The ISD must also employee equity and innovation officer hired by and reporting directly to the trustees not necessarily anybody else. The officer would apply an equity lens to all policy decisions program evaluations distribution of funds and resources and work with the see everybody in that press conference yesterday, including Kim's they were talking about equal outcomes. They want equal outcomes. Do you want you want equal outcomes are equal opportunity? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. There's a big question. I think he will outcomes is not feasible. You can't have you. Can't you can't have equal outcome. That's possible. But but to have equal outcome. You cannot have equal opportunity. Well, that's a good point six forty five. A check on traffic. Here's don. Well, speaking of outcome. Here's what's going on out there. We've got a wreck right now. Westbound seventy one is your approach Albert Brown and another one this is Turner Israel at seventy one tech center drive as your pro one eighty three. You got a wreck there. We've got Rex all over the place. Mcneil it Howard. We've got one clearing-up downtown eleventh new Acis, so keep your eyes out for that and a little bit hazy little foggy out there. So keep your eyes open pay attention. Don prior with Austin's on time traffic today, we'll bring intervals of clouds and sunshine will have a shower or thunderstorm around during the afternoon and evening hours. High ninety four degrees, mostly cloudy, low seventy four overnight from the weather center. I'm. People are rather sappy for Dunkin's fall.

"You can call you can text we're also talking about the effort by the city of austin to really completely neuter the current ordinance against aggressive panhandling they are making really major changes so that it it's almost nonexistent it may not as they may as well do away with it because they're saying it will no longer apply to any streets sidewalks crosswalks or highways within the city of boston other words just find some bushes behind somebody's home and you could stay there exactly this is jim in north austin you're on with mark and todd has it gone jim good morning jim appears that the nuts are taking over the nuthouse downtown yes point that i wanted to make though is maybe you know all these leftists are deciding to cherry pick which was i can and can't choose and clearing themselves sanctuary cities from whatever policy they don't like or can't change at the voting booth well maybe the state of texas should take a cue from that and pick one of their hot buttons and say you know we're like like abortion so you know we're a sanctuary state for the unborn all we're asking them and watch them consume themselves having to confront this actually bankrupt logic of picking and choosing whatever laws they wanna follow what you're calling for a sensible abortion legislation you know sensible gun legislation about sensible abortion legis i got you yeah it's it's insane to me to watch these people continue to just cherry pick the laws and say depending on who you arrest the law will or will not affect you know since you know if you if you arrest a white male for speeding he's breaking the law if you arrest a hispanic male who here in the country illegally you're targeting jim i can see how someone who has the audacity to break into another country illegally would think speeding or these other violations are minor offenses really not worth attention to that's true yeah it's we're living in a bizarre world i mean we live in a world now where you could go to jail for fishing without a license but you come to this country legally in and you don't expect to get locked up we're supposed to ignore violations just makes no sense to me d is in north austin with mark and todd hello good morning good morning gentlemen good morning yeah i'm a fourth generation off tonight so to say that i have seen some changes and putting it lightly so my question is are any of our city council or the mayor or they grumble often or even from texas are we sure we didn't plan almost all of them transplant them from california you know i mean we've always been left at center in austin given sure and we all got along we all agreed on issues like homelessness and and keeping the city beautiful and and that is just all out the window now they've gone too far to the left they have gone so far to the left that they are you know it's a very rare to meet a native off tonight now the only reason who wants to be here anymore well mayor adler he is from california he's a california lawyer i think ellen trucks claire is from the austin area or a houston from the austin area i think greg casare i'm not quite sure which latin american countries from but he is not an austin no originally i'm not sure where he's from i i saw an editorial this morning todd i think it was the new republic saying that bernie sanders is too far to the right wow bernie bernie sanders is too far to the right that is amazing bernie sanders is not socialist enough yes that was the whole point of the editor ill stop listening to bernie sanders don't pay attention to bernie sanders how he's not far enough on the left well that's that's that's how trump will get reelected and he knows it yes he's rooting on that kind of thinking sure he's hoping for more of it or so dumb wayne is in oak hill at ten forty one welcome aboard wayne how are you today pretty good go ahead i'm just want to make a comment about the the often vast rox and stony point i think it was yes i've heard that that is a hotbed of illegal gang activity also it is there there's there's been a rash of murders over the past couple of years in that.

"And who's paying for all of this aren't you parents are not they don't mention any of that that's not for us to know mark you're just supposed to think it just came together miraculously and his all just being paid for by the right people that are putting the right message out in the spirit of transparency they should say let everybody know where things stand let's go to ted in north austin he has a comment on the supreme court ruling today seven to two in favor of the baker who did not want to make the wedding cake for the gay couple in colorado ted you're on with marc and melinda good afternoon harry i'll do it well good good well i like to make a comment and and it's kind of just basically what you're saying about transparency but i'm talking about the baker if the baker decides that they don't would not like to make a cake for a gay couple they that's their choice and i support that decision decision that they wanted not make the cake but i think they should have a sign up within their their bakery that that establishes that they do not want to make cakes for gay couple and then even straight couples everybody all customers i go into that baker that bakery knows their position and then they they they have the choice whether they want to give that baker their business or not the sign would need to read we do not make gay wedding cakes because remember he said i do all kinds of stuff for gay customers it's just the wedding cake roger all the line.

"Touch with them and they tell you their experience of being you memory in and i knew then that something has to be done about the culture on there there have been women serving you know valiantly dying for for our country and it's it's time that the people who are not familiar with the ins and outs of the military um be made aware of that policy was really negatively contributing to a culture of thinking that women were second class in the military so the seat you're running for is held by republican john carter and if i'm reading the mouth right i see the district is just north of boston which to my untrained new yorkers i i think of as a liberal city austin how would you describe your district demographically and politically yes unit aren't going to quit and six different districts for because of the gerrymandering so we actually have north austin in our district's um opt to and including fort hood and queen which is um part of why i have been so successful so far of actually leading in the polls and and fundraising um because we have more veteran and it's been strict than we have a ninety seven percent of the rest of the country so while it has been a reliably republican districts in the past it's also discerning district and a more independentminded district in in texas we don't register as republicans or democrats people don't love identify and you know either way some people do of course um but there's a huge chunk of people who just like to vote for the right person and for a lot of people in this district uh john carter not that person and i am hub from this military and veteran population because you pushed to include more women in combat positions nowhere near as much as i expected there was a very small element in fact one of the things that made me so relieved was that nobody i served with really pushback on the end and i did see some discrimination when i served i kind of expected you know the people that serb with who tried to stop me expect it more pushback from them and really i got nothing but support um people who been in life situations whether that's military or firefighters um day i think i've experienced that day care more about competency and well y you know it maybe human nature part of predictive someone's gonna be confident.
