"Nvidia spilled over to semiconductor and tech shares and helped broad U.S. markets extend a weeklong advance after the trip maker pledged this week to invest in the expansion of its core business Nvidia today up by 9.8% Again recapping S&P up 63 a gain of 1.4% I'm Charlie that is a Bloomberg business flash Hey Charlie thank you so much So we want to get into over the next half hour 30 minutes or so A couple of stories that tap into the big money of sports Collegiate and professional So first step do you remember Tim this might have been before your time there's a Bloomberg business week cover story pre-pandemic it was all about how private equity is everywhere And was it written by Jason Kelly Jason was involved in it Yeah well I've spent enough time with Jason Kelly and read his book about private equity And that's kind of how the book begins actually about private equity Yeah it's all that private And then he did a second book called sweat equity which was just about fitness and wellness Well that's what we're talking about right now Alex whittenburg is investing reporter for Bloomberg news He's with us in the Bloomberg interactive broker studio He and along with some other colleagues of ours have a great new story out in Bloomberg business week called private equity funds pushing deeper into pro sports some really big numbers here Private equity firms Alex spending $51 billion on sports transactions globally last year 22 billion of that in Europe alone That's according to data from pitch pitch book What are they trying to get out of sports Obviously money but why do they see the value there Well okay so in North America this kind of came at a good moment because the pandemic saw some damage to the valuations of sports So private equity saw an opportunity and a lot of that comes because of media rights They've just been exploding in value And a lot of the charts Especially if you have more and more streaming services Exactly It's not just the networks right It's amazons of the world bidding That's right And think about the sports viewer It's like one of the few people who you can keep live no matter what these people aren't recording In business Yeah of course And we need to find out Exactly Exception of course So that matters a lot because that increases the value of advertisement revenue and there's also sports betting That's emerging as a key source of revenue that these firms can tap into because if you have a live viewer people are generally more engaged and all of that comes together I was thinking of the power players summit that we were in out on the West Coast and Beverly Hills ahead of the Super Bowl Tim and I were there They asked us to go We reluctantly said yes We'll spend a few days in Beverly Hills We did it But my point was it was really nice But my point was that they all talked about gambling right And that being a revenue stream And this is the way especially a younger they were thinking a younger consumer the gamification like this is how they want to interact especially when it comes to sports And the opportunities there Yeah it's just another reason why it's an attractive asset I mean you get a large draw for these private equity firms I want to investor kind of like into a Bond holding It's a safe haven asset because even during COVID you know there's that initial hit but they recovered so quickly And then something like sports betting it just shows that there's more value to be mined in these businesses and a range of areas that we probably can't foresee We've all heard of NFTs and tokenization that kind of thing Totally The sports metaverse like that was something we talked about a lot right Yeah it was Beyond gazing at the pool in Beverly Hills Okay Well it's funny because Carolyn and I a few weeks ago we interviewed one of the people behind the new HBO HBO series winning time which is the story of the Lakers dynasty the showtime Lakers dynasty and I'm at the beginning of it now where Jerry buss buys the Lakers for what $68 million which in today's terms is still a tiny amount of money Because the sports franchises have become so big and garnered so much money What are the leagues What are the sports that private equities particularly focused on right now Well they're focused on I mean NBA is a large draw for them right now just because that is booming globally And I would say they're focused on the focus on providing liquidity and they're focused on cashing in on those returns for the reasons we just discussed I think the other aspect that's interesting about this is because of those rising valuations we're just talking about a lot of these limited partners that bought in maybe a decade or more ago They've seen those values rise so much that it's hard to get other individuals to buy them out So that's another reason private equity comes in They have the capital enough capital to be able to easily purchase those kinds of things Alex when they come in and especially when it comes to some kind of ownership of a team right It's usually what passive I'm assuming because I just think about people might think private equity are going to look to cut costs So are we looking to work up the margins and stuff So what's typically the relationship there Yeah so North American leagues it's entirely passive in the leagues have been pretty clear about the rules there because of those exact concerns It's a little bit different in Europe The trend there now it seems like firms are increasingly targeting leagues instead of individual teams because there's fewer risks But yeah the concern is that a private equity firm would come in and get a little stingy And if you need to buy or if you need to increase costs to buy a good player or just for staff there is concern that they wouldn't be willing to do that But for now they're passive Right because that's part of the discussion that we're having when it comes to Chelsea F.C. and Roman Abramovich and that for years you know he was actually liked by fans of Chelsea because he was willing to actually spend the money Kind of like you know they could he was basically gave him a blank check to do whatever they wanted and it was successful for fans Yeah and it's hard to know if a different owner would be as willing to spend as much money I know that's been a concern In North America there's different rules about salary caps And right now leagues are in the NBA for one institutions are only allowed to own a collective 30% and a few people see that kind of changing anytime soon But as you write in your story the Denver Broncos write the selling of this team is going to be a big test because even if they can only own 30% that means they still have to come up with a bunch of other equity or capital right To fill out that purchase price That's right And that's what you could come in right Yeah and the NFL is one of the few holdouts in North American leagues That doesn't allow private equity So it's a real test I mean we don't have time but I'm just thinking about the exit for these private equity firms Because they need to do that Or do they in this or can they just buy creating new ever revenue streams kind of create some Yeah.

"Getting kind of nervous because he was like a rugby cricket race car kind of guy, you know, very traditional heavy sport I sat down. I was like, what would you say if I was to focus my masters around eSports? I was ready for some backlash like that, that's not an actual thing. Do something on soccer football and then just do that later. Much to my surprise, he was like, yeah, cool, do it. Go for it. And so my first research report I did in my master's program was actually a case study on birchen digging into how does this 17 year old Dane have a really rough childhood than become the icon of North American League legends? Pretty cool case study to do, so did that and then did research on. Just overall performance in eSports, what does it take to get to the pros? What's it like to be the pros? What does mental fatigue and eSports look like? What does burnout look like? And all those kinds of things. And I did all that with the intent of coming back into the eSports industry, or not even coming back into these sport industry, but starting my journey in eSports with two primary focuses be one being changing the way the next generation of gamers approaches gaming because I want to prevent a lot of the things that I went through like that really that massive weight gain, the mental health struggles, social anxiety, et cetera, I want to help prevent those things from happening to the next generation. And then the second prong of that was, what makes the elites take and how do we recreate that? How do we make the next beer? And how do we make the next faker? How do we design training, so that this happens for more people? And so those were the two aspects. And so kind of a long story, but degree in psych masters in sport and performance psychology that I brought that back into eSports to try and change the way that we work with gamers. For sure, so you're lower than that of entry for a lot of amateur gamers as well and then I think you're doing a great job at it. Just so you know, we're doing a video conference right now. So obviously, Landon is a handsome man. He's not overweight right now. He's great looking. Ladies, he's available. I'm assuming he's available, no, yes, maybe. He's not. I.

"Hey folks, I'm Kevin Correa and this is your E sports minute. It is now official one of the worst kept open secrets in the North American League of Legends scene has been announced. Former TSM midlander and four time LCS MVP burkes has joined team liquid as their starter for the 2022 season. In a promo video released by the organization, and noted the similarities between himself and liquid as they both have a winning mindset as their number one priorities with the announcement liquid rounds out their roster and are bloated with talent, jungler santorin and support court JJ return to the squad and new imports like X fanatic top winner Bible and rogues former marksman Hahn sama has all eyes on liquid when the season starts with the lock in tournament in January. In a bit of music video game news, Epic Games has brought another developer into their fold as they acquired harmonic music systems, the team behind Guitar Hero and rock band among other things, harmonics is coming into an industry where virtual concerts have had an increasing impact on the newer generation of gamers and through Epic Games will likely help them further capitalize on those opportunities in games like Fortnite. Harmonics announced that this acquisition will not change their current support for older games through updates and DLC, and it seems like they've found a new home after their tumultuous history of prior acquisitions and stints as an independent developer. Lastly, today marked the beginning of the blast premiere fall finals in CS go as four teams advanced in the upper bracket, while the losers dripped down to stay alive in the lower bracket. All of today's matches were sweeps as the closest one was australis surviving and overtime run by ninjas and pajamas, otherwise it was relatively uneventful. Liquid felt of vitality like many expected heroic swept phase and na'vi easily took down big. Matches will continue through the weekend with the grand final on Sunday. I'm Kevin Correa, that's my time and that has been your eSports minute. "Six years of my life worrying about nothing. And i was reading like a couple of years ago. There was a survey of football fans in england. And people are saying we want homophobia taken out of ospel. We want clubs to do more. What do you feel like clubs around. The world could be doing to support both fans but mainly playas who are gay or go by or lgbtq. I i definitely think through my example. Everyone's going to see different. I on this now and say that there be clubs that reached out manchester united liverpool. This event this is awesome. That is supporting stuff like this and encouraging stuff like this so i definitely think this is going to change some heads and turn some heads in in the world and change the opinion on this. I think that yeah. It's it's about time these changed and they just needed someone to do this. And i'm so proud and willing to do that right on that night. Josh kavala thank you so much for talking to us on hack thank you thank you for having me hack on triple j. Yeah that's jewish kabbalah. Hope right on triple jet or out you all listening to hack avenue dies. And millions of australians are into gaming are most of them are would not think it could go from something that happens at harm to a legit paid korea. Turns out that is a possibility this month. The best league of legends play is being competing at the world championships in iceland. And it's the first time ever. Australian play as bain on three teams at the event and it. Thanks to a rule. Change jackson worthington has been looking into this. A little warning a few swear words coming up that trophy in the end will not be stopped bana months ago one hundred days destroyed teen liquid on they will maiden north american league of legends. Todd the win also meant more. Plays one lake tahoe in america this year then americans. That's old thanks to a rule. Change the subtle ostia. We'll come back to that in a sec. Behind white jackson what the league of legends. Oh right basically. It's a five eighty five strategy computer game where people on them. I'll emily explained players verse five players and the objective is to take down your opponents in that process you mine resources including minions and other things to get gold so you can buy items and fight. The opposing team broadcast analyst the league championship series in north america. On a four majorly competitions in the world. She says the rule change. I mentioned has transformed the guy for all these basically. What happened was would be. Disillusion of the opio shannon purlee by the way they no longer count as non. Lcs residence lcs that's league championship series and for every roster in the lcs. You can only have two two players. They're not from the north american regions. Anyone who is in the oceanic region. They now effectively count as north american players. Basically the rule change sterling's we get the chance to play on american teams for the first time because imports slots they usually safe place from europe. Oh career obviously very happy but thinking back. i didn't feel as most. I thought i'd be in a way but it still fucking concordia that's victor. Fbi clang. He was the first to play in the cs and last month. He want. he's i taught or with one hundred days after moving to the usa in two thousand nine thousand nine victims. The successive australia implies in america will pave the way for more people to get a chance to play. I feel like the deigning earthy. Oc short for a shamanic on cermony acronyms. Aw plan perspective. It's really like a sustainable korea. I really hope that it does. I've been up off. Plays for young tower and share. What they've done. I think what the role change at the end of twenty twenty. It kind of became trendy to pick up australian players. That's kris papa. Smith smith general manager of one hundred days low that would say the quantity of australian players in the league between lcs and academy will be lower kinda day one. Twenty twenty two. But that doesn't mean that that won't be other big ticket. Australian players finding success in that locally again and coming over to north america. And i think a lot of people will look at the success of fbi and fudge and one a piece of that with australians. Finally getting a chance on american teams. It means this month world championship is a chance for the players to prove they deserve a spot in the lcs even though we have a very small player base like sample size isn't as good as like i do their place here. That could definitely be yes plays james. Talley shirt plays for tame pace. Jj charlie's representative at this wrote championship. He reckons the success of fbi and fudge may more teams are willing to take a chance on australian talent. I usually the best place in their all and especially if that australian plays count as enfolds in north america anymore. I think that they will be absolutely willing to take chances on people from australia on. Triple j jackson wedding and the league of legends world championships semi these weekends are hopefully these trillion teams. Do really well pack. I've seen how they have the pods that they send out into the water and the puck comes a call reef. I would like to do something like that on triple j feels kind of uncomfortable to think about. What do you want to happen to your body. When you die cremation traditional burial. Something kind of different text me over three nine seven five seven triple five. We've been talking a lot about climate change. They have been only common options here. But the industry's changing at the moment. We've got some new movers and shakers and it's largely to do with the environment. And there's also the physical space taken up by coffins and the library and energy used in the process and just a single cremation uses about the same amount of energy that an average person uses for an entire month. "Hey folks, I'm Kevin Korea and this is your E sports minute. The finale of the 2021 Call of Duty league season saw a new champion crowned. Over the weekend, the previous reigning champs Dallas empire saw themselves defeated by faze and then losing to ultra and the losers bracket who they beat earlier in the tournament. Ultra came out firing in the first game taking it in the grand final versus phase. The best of 9 however saw face dominating as they win the series and the championship 5 games to one phase in arguably the best team all season, winning three out of the 5 regular season majors with total season winnings before playoffs were on $730,000, adding the 1.2 million from winning it all, the entirety of 2021 saw phase earning almost $2 million. One of the most successful seasons in Call of Duty history. The next question, of course, can the repeat in 2022 when Call of Duty Vanguard drops? VC EMEA playoffs concluded over the weekend with the final seating for Berlin set G two, of course, earned their spot despite a loss to gambit ascend, facing the same fate, they lose to gambit and that losers final, so it was up to supermassive blaze to put an end to the upstarts in gambit. However, they couldn't be contained. They beat up on supermassive blaze winning three one in the grand final with the conclusion of this one, the table is set for Berlin and come September 10th, the next big Valorant major is set to begin. The 6 Mexico major also concluded over the weekend as we saw team one and team empire go the distance in a 5 game series team one, of course, feeding liquid to get that will empire beating up on BDS. I'm back and forth series in the grand final, but sadly, that final game was all team one, they defeat empire three games the two take home $200,000 for their tournament win. Lastly for North American League of Legends fans they saw tale as old as time in the regional playoffs as cloud 9 and TSM FTX saw themselves up against each other in the loser semis and as always it was a competitive matchup. A 5 game series that saw cloud 9 carried by Vulcan to the victory cloud 9, they'll try to run the bracket back from losers, they face hundred thieves to see he'll compete for that top spot at worlds against team liquid. You hit but clearly. Not chinese because he became a very popular field throughout all of asia knowing singapore while singapore as heavy heavy chinese presence but they stopped screening the field for a while because of major traffic problems created by masses wanting to access the theater y- philippines iran for six months rate which is pretty crazy for a new movie diva likely to in japan despite the strong anti-japanese vibe of the field the film was made for just about a hundred thousand dollars and eventually no right away of course but by now it does earned over one hundred million dollars the still very torn easy insane you know. It's always the reverse key up your boss and act like a tyrant to the people below you. Lee was just the opposite. He was kind to those below him and mean to those over him who which thirty something about his personality. I guess in any case. That's what i mentioned a minute ago. That strong element of patriotism that made The field very popular in china was a beat duffy. Tricky subject for bruce lee. As i mentioned at this stage was still purely an actor with no control over the scrapes otherwise. It's very likely that that party color theme would have played out very differently in the movie. The fact was bruce. Lee was formally not a fan of nationalism. Someone was not a hundred percent chinese and was targeted. For that reason. Bruce lee was all too familiar with the kind of cena phobia. Racism that are often the clues causing of nationalism. Even in nineteen seventy one as the movie was having tremendous says he was feeding someplace. Charentes guard bruce was partially american. "Very folks, I'm Kevin Correia and this is your Esports minute week, one of the LCS summer, split just wrapped up in man. Does North American League of Legends? Never failed to entertain Team Liquid losing their first game with a split the TSM in in response. They bent their start top laner in Alpha replacing them. A cademy teams Jenkins for the spring. Split Champions, Cloud Nine's, post MSI performance left. Something to be desired after a one and two-week had seen. I had benched, they're bot laner in spent before the weekends and apparently that was just not the move to make TSM and Immortals were the only two squads walk away with a three and a record to start the split. And these events were to continue that entertaining start over with leaves June houses. Had their final four chosen for the upcoming finale. On June 10th will see the two Kurt strongest teams from the East and West face off in a rematch from the main melee. The Dead Fuel in the Shanghai dragons. If you're a fan of underdogs, they'll have plenty to cheer for in the New York Excelsior and the Atlanta reign as both. Those teams upset higher-seeded opponents in the Hangzhou spark in San Francisco, shock respectively. Personally, my obvious bias to pick to take the term. It would be the Dallas fuel, their main one of the toughest teams to beat this season. And the addition of his skin Pine is only made them better since their last tournament win last month. "And honestly, a lot of those other teams are really good. I mean North America tends to focus on Sentinels because they're extremely marked marketable. They're extremely successful. They tend to focus on a hundred thieves because I'm mean it's it's the hoodie org, like they they have a lot of fans off birchman. Yeah their fans type them up and hey, like if you have fancy defense, there's nothing absolutely nothing wrong with that but there are other teams like Immortals like gingi like a ghost like BBG like inbox that have were really good. They were always really good and they've always challenged those top teams, but from looking at social mean you wouldn't really know about that. Like how much do you actually know about like envious Valentin? They've been his that historically over the entire track of Valor and Esports, even though a hundred thieves one for strike. Envy has been more overall successful than a hundred thieves. I don't even think that's like disputable. They have better placements overall wage. Stronger for longer they only got better when they added food and crashes and they're looking really strong moving forward. But again, they don't have the same kind of like reach. So what I think we're seeing here park is like yeah, these big teams are good. And yeah, these teams have had like a lot of success but there is kind of like an inherent social bias based on like what we see because part of like part of analyzing their team is good, especially like right now and Valor where you don't have like a lot of replays where you don't have like access to comms there's no real way for us as like observers to analyze something fully you do kind of rely on like What the mob thinks that if the mob thinks the team is good. They're probably pretty good. And if the mob thinks team is bad then hey, I mean, maybe there's something to it. I don't think that's true. I think it's understandable, but I don't think it's a really good way to analyze anything long-term. So I and I don't really think this is like a regression to the mean for any of those teams at all. I don't even necessarily think that a hundred thieves the Sentinels are like outside of the top five. I think that Gap has all between them has always been significantly closer than a lot of people would think it had been with teams like NBA teams, like gingie, they're not bad. They never have been they just weren't the best and now that they have finally finally cracking that, you know, tear 1.5 ceiling. Everyone's just like, oh wow, like they're pretty good too. You know how good they are in the National on the national on the international stage is kind of yet to be seen. We'll see how good they are dead, but I don't necessarily think that It's I don't think it's necessarily a huge problem. And I don't even think it's all that surprising. I think the signals and stays were by Far and Away the two teams. I think sentence using out is girls but not necessarily face. I think they I think they could I think it's pretty pretty predictable that eventually that they would have like they they may help know their feast or famine said I'm safe. He's sometimes a famine it is what it is. No, it isn't and you did on the money with that but it's it's it's so insane. I mean just like how volatile the scene is so far and I mean and it's only a year old it'll it'll probably even out over the course of you know, three four or five years, but for me on an international scale, I mean, it seems like there's a pretty big disparity between like n a and Andy you I mean currently I'm just looking at the liquipedia ratings and every single in a team is rated over 2000 you all below like mm Korea's the only kind of matching game. N a a bit with with the original Strikers out of out of out of Korea, but it just who's is any of the best talented a region so far on the international scene? It's hard to say without International competition. I do think that the meme that like or not the me the reality that it a historically has very much underperformed in E sports package by sheer virtue of the Erb by the measurement of the amount of resources dumped into it dumped into it as opposed as a region as opposed to other regions. I think that is like true. I think we'll also see that correct itself as time moves on early on in the sport. You don't necessarily want to pick up the best team. If you've got the most marketable team. Yep. And then over time you add pieces to make yourself the best team it picking up the best team in a brand new sport right off the bat. Like that's just it's not feasible one because you don't know if they're the best team. I mean what if something happens what if like something was outrageously broken or they were you know, abusing an exploit that there's too many factors. I think that eventually a lot of that will regress to the mean. I don't necessarily think you'll see a lot of the big organizations remain in an a I think eventually the media coverage will spread out if that makes sense for sure, but I don't think that means in a as bad. I think that said novels are with tens when tens is on they are probably the best team in the world while Sentinels being good doesn't mean that in a is good the same way Vision Strikers being, you know utterly excellent as I mean, the rest of Korea is that all right home. I think we'll have to see it's it's very difficult to I know that I know the point is to like to say like definitively but I just don't think we will have any definitive answer until like until Iceland. That's a fair point. I mean, what's the what's the end-all like Valerie? Season Championship. Just the balance Champions is always called so far. I'm sure to remember what it was even it is called Champion. Okay, cuz that's like the real that's like the world. That's the international per balance so far. So that's kind of what I'm what I'm gearing towards in the future. Just trying to see if I can map out who's who's in income, you know Championship time that they will I can make my bets pretty much but I'm not trying to say that out loud don't need to hear that from me. I'm not trying to get involved with the FBI so far, but I you know, I just got to bring this up and over we're not running short on time. Just want to make sure we get everything that I want to talk to you about out-of-the-way primarily want to talk to you about what you like to talk about which is Rainbow Six Siege because you know, that's that's where your heart that's your heart is that's where your roots to your eggs and everything. That's where you want to be at most of the time so North American League getting set for their stage one who are dead. Power houses to watch out for on that scene. I mean we got space station gaming. They wanted all ask your hand. They do it again. Like they're currently middling the standings who are your favorites you you off man, you go off. Okay. Okay. So the grand unified theory of Rainbow Six is that a team is only as good in my opinion. This is completely dead Hunter take but I think this is backed up by a lot of conversations. I think it's backed up by a lot of data is backed up by a lot of fact stats and Rainbow Six are incredibly misleading because of the funding way like the game is played in that like your injuries typically.

"The import rule is coming into question for the LCS and it could have some major ramifications. I'm the dreams and thoughts Esports minute from E Sports Network people unfamiliar with the import rule right now North American teams who compete in the LCS are only allowed to have to non North American residents on their roster wage rules created with the goal of building up more North American talent. So the teens weren't immediately filled with top players from other regions. Most notably Korea and China, but the last few years at League of Legends world's have shown the LCS is falling even further behind the L C K & L P L and L E C besides Cloud. Nine's Miracle run to the semifinals three years ago. No LCS team has found much success on the international stage in League of Legends competition last year. All three LTS teams were eliminated in the group stage that included the top seed from the LCS TSM who went. Oh and 6 and it's group one of them. Two teams to not win a game in the group stage according to reporting from Travis Gafford this past week. None of the Ten teams in the LCS voiced support for keeping the limit on Imports somewhat Riot to relax restrictions allowing for three or even four non-resident players on each team, but others like Cloud 9 boss Jack Etienne one of the rule removed entirely. It's a tough situation on one hand. The LCS is seeing a lot of money invested into its teams by both organizations and buy brand Partners. So not having wins on the world stage makes it harder to justify those Investments. But on the other hand North American League is already lagging behind the other major regions when it comes to Talent Development removing. The import rule would be a huge blow to aspiring North American prose with l c s teams having a backers. There's likely also concerned from teams in Europe China and Korea that they might suddenly see a lot more competition on the contract front. Not to mention all the teams with talented players that are in other regions like turkey Brazil Russia, etc. For now. It's hard for players to come over from Korea or China because they know that there's almost certainly would be a language barrier with them and their other three non-import team-mates. So being able to play with the team full of players from their region would be a lot better if teens could offer salaries and they could bring over a full 5 from the same country or who speak to same native language. That would be an easier sell for those players when it comes to poaching Talent. Then there's also the LEC to think about Europe has been quite successful in the world stage at least fanatic and G to have established themselves among the best teams in the world with consistent results year-over-year G2 Esports founder Carlos Rodriguez tweeted out today his take first off. He says the LEC and LCS generally follow the same rule set wherever possible and the changes to either League should be mutually agreed-upon, but then he also offered up an interesting alternative. Merged the League's while the Rivalry between the LEC and LCS is pretty cool l d c is taking you far away merging the League's actually be so dope. I'm here by into it as an idea. I have no idea if it's actually on the table, but Carlos is one of the most influential figures when it comes to Global League of Legends. And if he's putting it out there right has to at least be listening. That's all for some sort of the Esports minute today on the Esports chat podcast over the weekend. I talked with Darren Fletcher. He's a longtime Esports veteran. And now the CEO of repeat. G g we mainly talk about the history of Esports and how lessons from its past continue to guide its future wage. Then on the ecology Sports quick take I talked with dr. Seth Jenny the professor recently helped author a paper where he makes the argument that Esports is actually drastically undervalued because of the destination of what sports is it gets to that core question of does Esports stop at the top leagues or does it continue into ranked play if that's e Sports is all of Rights Revenue then Esports revenue office. She come around to this way of thinking and you can hear why on that show as always. I'll be back.

"Everyone must stay home unless it's medical groceries or exercise. So i guess. The exercise thing applies descends and leaves players. I gotta i gotta go out and play. Nhl hockey so. I'm gonna violate this whole. Stay homeward right anyway. Everybody seems to think it's fine is key carry on but now it's interesting because obviously as a hockey fan i wanted to go on but also have some sympathy for those. Who don't like hockey which must be at least two out of every three people in ontario won't care about the nhl and what. What are they got going on. Because that's the defense. I keep hearing. Oh we need something to to entertain us. If we're being told we must stay at home. Well that's fine. What about the other two thirds of the province. That don't like hockey. What do you do you write them anyway. The point was again into this discussion. About rivalries and such and bill. Daley gary bettman's henchman talk today about the north division which a lot of people are excited about. And it's not just an all canadian. It's this new reshuffling of the deck. This full realignment Lot of people are saying what might not mind this on a full-time basis all canadian. More rivalries from playing teams more frequently. Bill daley pay basically rained on that parade today. He said the intra division play. This is his quote exclusively. Certainly creates a heightened degree of familiarity between the teams. Each game carries that much more importance as an aside by the way james. I would also argue that even if your favorite teams not playing like. If it's an you know it's a divisional game. You're going to get to know these teams very quickly because you know your oil is for example only have six opponents all year. So you're gonna see them again and again and these opponents will then play other north division opponents and suddenly these non oil or games or in my case the non senator games. They're going to suddenly start seeming. That much more intriguing. I think anyway. Carrying bill daley's deal. He said each game carries that much importance. I read somewhere. People are saying every game is a four point game. in that's true. I think that can really be compelling playoff format can be compelling highlighting the rivalries can be compelling butts and this is where he brings out his wet blanket having said all that while. I'm excited for it. I don't see it as a long-term alternative or a possibility for the league in particular. I must a lot about the north. The all canadian division is that something we can see continuing on into the future. I think the commissioner has made that clear that certainly not in our current thought process. We very much consider ourselves one league north american league with markets in canada and the. Us we wanna make sure..

"Rod rostov guys. That was fun. Great job interspersing. Your comments y allowing parts of the kiss show to come across during the recording. It was great really sum up the whole kiss show with one word strider. however here's some thoughts and comments overall. I thought the was fantastic. Jeez jeans bastogne was thick in the guitar. Crunchy and heavy. You guys commented on. This is well without much crowd noise. You could really pick up jeans. Oh yeah oh yeah. Queen songs overall stage look great was massive. The u seventeen pods. I north american league in two thousand nineteen since then they've only been using eleven pods which isn't nearly as impressive even though they had twenty one pods during this show. They weren't mobile except the three. They came down during drc and that was disappointing. The mobility of them throughout the normal end of the road shows is a great visual and was missing here screens. The video screens weren't sinking up with what was going on. Live looked awkward pyro overall. The pyro was amazing. The cameras seem to miss some big pyro moments. The rockets around paul's mini stage at the end of love. Gun were awesome and the pirates of the beginning of black diamond. We're really cool as well. Drum is it. Is it me or the drum riser. Only going up about fifteen feet over the last. Several tours with the sheer size of the stage should have gone up higher. Look kinda lame as tears. A fallen loved extended guitar. Riff intro backing vocals. During the course was great as we're eric's lead vocal harmonies during the second verse. Think the picked up on somebody else singing some of the lines. Yup and it was just basically eric given a paul lift which i prefer i liked it. Yeah i thought it was great. War machine the rift was especially crunchy and heavy. Unfortunately i didn't catch the fireball during the fire-breathing on the livestream hopefully one of the other fifty cameras actually got a good shot of it. Cold gin guitar sound especially crunchy the fact there all playing you and different guitars during this song. School gene thunderbird. Paul i've been as ps tommy. Flying v love gun. You mentioned this as well. What was with the double vocal. During the verses was pulsing and over the backing track all enjoyable event. Well worth forty bucks happy new year. Happy new year to you but i thank you very cool. Good analysis kevin jepsen. Holy shit guys. This was fun as hell. I was constantly laughing out loud. Let us know we can or that. Eric singer hunching bag from a click teach more. Eric guys were brutal. Love this show myself but bone yard on series has been played. It and i can't listen awful. Paul sound terrible but added visuals. I didn't hear it as bad gonna watch it again. Listen to you idiots. Great way to start off the year. Happy new year fuck goes. It's funny because kevin was just sending us a tax. Just now about buddy of is australia. That for some reason couldn't get our episode. They couldn't find it on apple itunes or some. If you guys ever have issue like that please feel free to reach out to us will try to find a different method for you to get it. He just sent us a another text now that he did get it. So we're glad to hear that. So kevin that's great on our shouted outlawed cat a page. Our buddy sean ham and also added. Yes yes and yes okay. We'll take it good enough tom. Are you to page has been getting a lot more common slow these days. I love it. Yes that's awesome. Anthony stratus peter griffin on the trump. I forgot about that. When i read that comment i literally. I laughed out loud. Because i totally forgot that. Now that's gold great work. Scott wheeler great. Show we definitely more of these loved being able to hear the concert in the background. Still one thing. I do wanna make mention. I know everybody will say something now. The vocals this and that. But i thought the background of was at the right level. So you could hear it but it's not overwhelming the conversation you can still hear talk except that worked out pretty well Mardi white. I hope the three of you were safe together. Chuck seventy four haha. Just finished skimming the kiss to twenty twenty goodbye video on youtube and then this pops up within a minute. Good timing guess. Awesome devon dunkin great episode. craig brajic awesome i one. What do i win comment of the week. Craig project also said guys don't accept don't accept mediocrity we don't we don't we have our she if you listen to our show long enough we don't now we're always changing and getting trying to do an add a bunch of new things. You'll see what we mean. Yep tom you want to go over some emails as well. Sure couple of emails here a good friend angelo kapeso. Happy new year to angelo. He says hi guys. I actually watched a replay of the dubai concert with you guys. It was really cool. I felt like i was with you. Both end murph. I was amazed how you guys knew. The set list exactly structure was a pleasant surprise wishing you an awesome. Twenty twenty one. Thank you angelo. A good man and we hope you have a happy new year as well and then we got a great email. Here this is. These are the kinds of emails. This is from a listener. Raymond farrow and he says love. The show hates zeus and tom. I recently found your podcast. And i have to tell you you guys are fantastic. I absolutely love the show of been offense and seventy seven. When i convinced my dad to buy his seven year old son kiss alive to and have been a huge fan. Since i've seen them live on every tour since lick it up and just can't get enough kiss content in my life much to the chagrin of my wife. I work in sales. I spend the majority of most workdays in my car which is not always thrilling. Finding your show has been an absolute game. Changer i started with some of the album review shows are now going through and starting at the beginning. Your approach to the show is refreshing since you don't just swoon over everything that kiss does approach with critical minds. Basically we agree that you can still love most things about the ban instill admit that they have cranked out some really shitty songs over the years. The humor in the show is awesome. The i won't use story almost made me wreck my car. I was laughing so hard. The smashes thrashes and shit show was so funny. My wife asked what the hell was wrong with me. Because i was sitting at my desk with headphones on and laughing my ass off speaking of shitty songs. I am amazed that the two of you have such differing opinions on what is great. In what sucks and how. Those opinions differ from mine. It's part of what makes it so great and has made me go back and re listen rediscover some songs i had written off. I still can't believe that you both hate king of mountain top ten kiss song in my opinion and you love garbage like king of hearts. Ll anyway just wanted to drop a note. Thank you for the hours of entertainment now and in the future. Keep up the great work ray farrell from pittsburgh. Thank you ray that those emails are amazing. We appreciate that's awesome. Thank you for listening. Thank you for taking the time for writing all that. That's that's awesome. We're we're so glad you found the show. You're having fun with it.

"To you live from Niagara Falls, New York J. Witchy with head coach Frank Cerrito Oriana three freshmen who scored goals their first college goals against Niagara on Sunday and yesterday. Our guests on the show we just heard from Brian out of Next up is Nate Horned Elk River, Minnesota number 24. 5 11 £160 by way of the North American League and Minnesota and, uh, now a freshman at the Air Force Academy. No 80 song reference, Frank for Nate. You got one. I know. But you gotta be able. You gotta be able to come up with something with horn. If you gave me a little bit of Ah, advanced notice. I could have come up with something. Yeah, something we could use on the air. Did you get those Saturday night? Live Stephanie? A little bit of a little bit. Yeah. OK s o. Alka River. Minnesota was well, you know, you didn't know where California was. Do you know where Minnesota's I know where Minnesota is? I'm not sure. You know. Where would you know where I'll be? Okay? I'm gonna ask. I'm an asshole. Arnie is Elk River. More city, or is it more North Moor Northern or is it more city more city? Do you think so? On down around the twin cities? It's about 45 minutes north west of Minneapolis. Yeah, Okay. You know what? The border you know what I think? Don't like when I watched Alka River play hockey. You play your style of play and just the kids. They're more blue collar than the city slickers. And you guys are I think you play more of a northern Minnesota brand of hockey. Then you do a city style personally. Is that a fair statement? Yeah, yeah, that's true. And you like your dad's from Brainerd, right? Yeah. I mean, so like Brainard ain't the city. I've been to Brainerd. You know, we're Brander Do yes. Yes. And And you've got The way you play like you're you are. You're a little rank rat. I mean, like you have fantastic instincts. Um, like you've got great hockey sense. Like that's that's not something that You know that, like just comes naturally It comes from years off, playing on the ponds and playing free and and, uh, and again like he you play hockey like a northern Minnesota rank rat and that and that, and that's a Old school. You know what I like. I like no, I sure don't want to say, you know, put say he's chucked Alice. But like he's one of like one of those kind of guys. I mean, one of those noise and we haven't had Many northern kids on our team. We've had some kids from or head. We had Spanky letter from Elk River. Um, we've had a couple kids from Duluth. But we haven't had many Northern Minnesota kids, but we got a northern Minnesota rank rat on our team right now, and you can see these always in the right place at the right time. He knows where to put pox. You know, place box the goals that he scored right place at the right time. How about that about that shootout goal that he scored yesterday? Yeah, keep to shoot up. It was big time. But I remember going to watch and Nate, uh, play with the wilderness, And you think it's cold in? Uh you think it was cold in here? Remember? I like I was that fucking drinking. Cloquet is a nice pot. You could hang meat in that place. I remember cracked. I couldn't wait. For the For the periods the and sometimes so I could run in the hospitality room and get something to eat warm up for the next period. But how is that for you? Did you enjoy going up to cloak a cloak ain't a whole lot different than Elk River, is it? No, it's a pretty similar. I love coke capital of the world. This was the team was awesome to me. I think On the juniors from high school is definitely a big jump. It's kind of reality. Check my first year I got injured right away. Got scraps quite a bit. It was. It was kind of Ah. No, my I still like what hockey really is outside of the high school hockey bubble. And then I think it kind of makes you wanna work all the harder and then the next next two years, I found a little more success and then Um, but, yeah, I know. Over the those three years were great to me. Um, you go into Cloquet, who are who are the two greatest hockey players ever to come out of Cloquet? Minnesota. Wasn't Corey Millen. One of them Corey Melon. Good job. Birdman, Who's the other one drunk? Who's the other one? Who's the other one? Who knows? They have me in the ring. He knows my brother Jiang, Jamie Langenbrunner. Okay, That's not good. Old northern Minnesota rink rap stars that made it all the way. You know what You know, like you know what? I horny? We have to throw Derek Plante in there, too. Oh, yeah. No. Yeah. No great little hockey tone Cloak a great little hockey town. But, uh, his journey would be a little bit more simpler because he grew up in a Minnesota. You grow up in your town. You play in your town all the way up where we're be a jumped around shit. He went to Chicago for a year, You know, And, uh, where his deals a little bit different, and he didn't leave home and tell already didn't leave home until the, uh went and played juniors. But tell us a little bit about The jump from junior high school to junior hockey and then from junior hockey to college hockey. Yeah, no High school high school was awesome. We had some good teams. I play some Some of my best friends are playing some big time hockey. Now, as it was, it's fun to watch that. But I go to Junior's is definitely an adjustment..

Minnesota hockey Elk River Alka River Nate Horned Elk River Northern Minnesota Nate High school high school Niagara Falls North Moor Northern Frank Cerrito Niagara Cloquet North American League Stephanie Brainerd Corey Millen New York Minneapolis
