"Queer in there, but it's questioning. Oh, really? I'm questioning. I thought it was queer because it's like, and that's a big umbrella. Yeah. Or just different from it used to be. And then people were like, so I don't want to be called queer. I mean, aren't we all in that category every time Tom Brady's on TV? Wait, how about when Peter Griffin was on? And he said, he goes, oh, he goes lowest. Let's do all that stuff that Richard Simmons used to do before he found out he didn't like it. Unbelievable. All right, so one more for smitty. Is this for the tiebreaker? I'm out. Okay. For two points, then okay. Oh, two points. Well, you know, he's trying to win. It's a tie right now. Right? No. No, seriously, I'm standing mid court right now. I'm getting ready. Yeah. What if alphabetical order give me the first and last states alphabetically in the United States? Okay, well. First would be Alaska. What did Delaware Alaska? I don't know. It was a New Jersey, I think. And Wyoming. The first one's wrong. What's before Alaska? No, no. Alabama. He's right. Will was right. You were wrong. None of you get the grand prize. There was a song I learned in grade school that's all the states in alphabetical order. Oh, you watched anti maniac still? In Alaska, it was on Arkansas. Yeah. I liked it. I'm really good at naming presidents in order. Really? Right from the beginning. Who's the president right now? Well, he's not really, he's not really the president. He thinks he is. Come on. Someone told him he is. Well, that's how my accountant. My butt's been white. We're doing really well. So we have another podcast that we'd like you to come on someday called 15 minutes of shame. Love. A book I cancel once and then I'll be like, oh, perfect. That's how I do it. Work that out with you guys. There's a comedian. He's a comic. He's a funny man. You can have a bunch of different titles when you're a comedian. Oh yeah, podcaster. Funny man will noon. Yeah, they put that stir. And then comedian comic, what's the other one stand up comic? Yeah. Nowadays, yeah, lots of different titles. But his new podcast is called soft guys. Soft boys. Soft boys. See, I already got a very, very different show. It's very different. And is it available where people can get their everywhere, YouTube and everywhere? We have a video on YouTube, and we also have the everywhere. Now, do you have a TV project you're doing too? I saw a picture of you on Twitter. You were with some woman saying coming up on bravo TV. Oh no, that was a joke. I met one of The Real Housewives of New York. Oh, okay. Which one? Sony Morgan. Oh boy. My wife's a huge fan and as a buddy of mine, Jeremy is directing a show with her right now. So we got like we got like backstage and everything like that to meet her. She hit on you? She did. Yeah. Right in front of my wife. Yeah. Well, that's because that's a lot of drinks and she flirts. So after you had sex with her. Yeah. Your wife didn't mind. She said such a fan? Yeah, exactly. My wife was actually kind of funny. It was like, my wife kind of turned. This is what happened when I went backstage at a WWE. You're not going to like what you see back there. It's going to ruin the illusion for you. Never meet your heroes, you know? And never let them in your pants when your wife is there. And she like, my wife wanted a meter and she was kind of just zoned in on me. You know what I mean? And I was like, well, well noon, as I said, I was breaking his balls. I've never not liked real new, and even when I was breaking his balls on the podcast and he's here now. I have to break up my balls on Twitter, so we're even Steven. Merry Christmas to you. What you did a couple of weeks ago for Fourier on EI with that thing they had gone to help and then get Bill Barr. That was awesome. I was happy to be listening live thanks. So that was really cool. I don't know how much help I was, but I did what I could. I tried. Listen, I'd been trying to go through his manager for years. So the fact that you did it in like an hour. You know, we were all. It was a team effort. And Bill Burr is a great guy. I'm sure if he had just known. It's just hard to get information to people when they're that famous. And you can't get past managers or something. They don't know then it's not worth it in their world. You all know, when someone gets famous, it's like, well, I'll see them once every 5 years. And it'll be awkward and I think we're going to do this. You're not friends with Joe castiglion owner, Jerry tubby on it, are you? I'm not friends, but I love joke as CEO. I do too. We all do. I met him in Fort Myers and all I wanted to do was fan out. He's the greatest guy. And he kept going like, I don't know how you do stand up comedy. It's the hardest thing out there. He was just asking me questions and giving me all this stuff. He's one of the greatest people. He really is. And we got Joe and Jerry course every single show that wrap up our show with some castiglia. So we're gonna do this. Oh, nice. Do the snow. I prefer a joke. Jerry come in here. Go. Out the Holly. Put out a tree before my spirit falls again. Fill up the stocking, Joe. I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now. That's yours. Are we need a little Christmas? Right. This very minute candles in the window Carroll's at the spinach. Yes, we need a little Christmas, right? This very minute hasn't snowed a single flurry, but Santa did we're in a hurry. Climb down the chimney. That's all. Turn on the brightest string of lights I've ever seen. Slice up the fruitcake. It's time we hung some tents along the ever green bow. For I have grown a little leaner. Crawling a little colder. Growing a little shatter. Growing a little older. All right, need a little angel sitting on my boner. A.

"This concludes this test of the emergency podcast system. You had two weeks to get that right. I know. Two weeks, the audience didn't hear what happened last night. How many times have you tried to pull that one off last week? We last week we had what you call a major technological snafu catastrophic event. This week we have a guest actually we have a guest for this. We're gonna introduce some here in a second, but first, let me say this. Last week's show, we are gonna recycle. We're all about the earth and the greenness of the earth. So we recycle on this show, right? That's right. As a matter of fact, this is a recycled guess. Oh yeah, we should explain now what's going on because this took some effort and also some courage and also some asshole Ness. So yeah, in my part. That's right. I couldn't believe it. But I was kidding. I want to apologize to our guests right now, even right to his face. Will noonan is here? Now, for those of you listening to this podcast, you know, will wasn't here one night. It begins well. So he's done both beef yards. He's done both sides of this. H one. I was shocked when he wanted to birthday too. And we were trying to have a cake we had a pound of weed and a dancing girls. With weed that had weed on their nipple ring arios. Yeah. And you know, we went to a lot of trouble. But we put it aside. We said, you know, things happen. In will's case, what happened to him was someone called him to teach a class, right? Yeah. What was it about? Laugh university. There was one. I'm a professor, okay? Of comedy. Tenure, Professor of comedy. And yeah, it was an obligation. I could not turn down. You couldn't turn it down. Especially the night before our podcast, 'cause that's when it happened. Yeah, I just gotten off a welfare. And I was like, this company right back on. If I missed this. You should get married, let your wife work. I should. You know, that'll get you off a little bit. I did with me for several years. But will noon is back in here and we're glad about that because you know breaking his balls on the podcast, the saying, well, you know, as we do. It's radio beef world. It's already a beef. And this is ob versus Anthony. This is Martin versus Lewis. That's right. Yeah, which one I use the Opie though. Brother man, I think I'm opium, unfortunately. I worked I worked with those guys. I got along great with them down in New York. Well, could I tell myself? I wanted to even better. I want to know at what point during the beef, you're like, oh fuck, Mike, Alex. Yeah. No, no. Somewhere on the drive here. But what I was doing though was I was, you know, having some fun with the whole thing because we haven't had anybody cancel the 6 hours before the next one. There's a full 24 hours. So he goes on Twitter and he goes, Mike is trashing me to anyone who will listen, which is really kind of a, that's a big, that's a big tent. Sprinkle a little salt on it. That's ten 15 people every single week. And then I was trashing you. And I wasn't trashing you personally. I was just willing to brand. Professionally. I was trashing the someone hit your car, you trashed the dent. You don't trash the driver of the car. Right? I've never heard that. I haven't seen that. Backpedaling this good since Lance Armstrong. So he's listener. His listener, his following on Twitter, which is a lot of people, they got all over my shit. Because he put it on Twitter. See, I didn't cross that line. I only mention it on the podcast. Very limited. I mean, really, but you know, the words fucking asshole. I mean, that kind of thing. I never said that. I like will noon. And he knows it and you know it. And so do you. I know. That's why I was so surprised. I was so surprised to hear about it. I never said you were an astronaut. I believe fucking asshole was used. Because I love. All right. Do we have clips? We don't have clips of him trashing me, do we? Can I do an impression? Can't you hear it? That's the show. I told you. I got a phone call. I got multiple phone calls. No one called you an asshole. We wouldn't do that. That's right. What I heard was, someone called me up and goes, it's a very influential person in the city of Boston. Yes. I mean, you said it not me, but I was like, Charlie, what's up? And he goes, what did you do to Mike? That's how that's what I get. I go, what are you talking about? What do you mean? And he goes, he's trash and you so hard on his podcast. He was saying he's saying he sucks and he's a prick and I will say this. He goes, Ben and Bill are have your back. That's what he said to me. He goes. The other guys are going, what are you talking about? Well, it's a nice guy. And he said, Mikey you'll hear none of it. And I go, well, what's the problem? He said, you canceled on him and you won't. And you never apologize. And I go, all I did was apologize. Only twice though. At three times, actually, and I said, and in one text, I said, sorry three times and can I reschedule? And I hear the biggest complaint was I didn't ask to reschedule it in apologize. So that's why I shared the tweet. And you're supposed to apologize twice for each of those infractions. Mike was being four. He was hanging under that grudge like a lifesaver. It was really something. I heard my wife goes. Did you just, I showed her the tweet? So I just uploaded this, this is the exact text conversation where I apologize three times and asks to be on the show. My wife looks at it and she goes, mmm, fucking pretty savage move there. She thought I was savagely. But do you know what it was so savage? It was actually good in the realm of radio beef stuff, but his followers were like over months. Thank you, man. We're calling me names. I'm having heard since third, fourth, 5th grade. Yeah. The noonan fans, the new crew, as we call them, the Nuna bombers, they get pissed off and they get defensive. The reason was the cake. I bought the cake. Some of them went too far. The thing that bothers me the most was that we bought this nice cake for you. For your birthday. And special preparations, you know? We had candles. We had everything. It's horrible. It was awful. It is like, it hurt. That is that I can't apologize for it. A wasted cake. Have you ever had some coffee cake? I've had one before because actually when I did this show before. Via Zoom. You guys ship me when you offer nice enough to shit. Well, we made you come get this one. And my lovely wife who I said called me a savage for doing that tweet. She loves them. She's obsessed. She's gonna love this blueberry cake. As long as she's on our side that he won't do that. It's true. But I never teach another comedy class again for money. Well, I was also like, you know, this kind of like I reached out, you know, I reached out to friends, Anthony cumia, rob Bradford. My tansky, Christian foray. All these guys, I'm reaching out Lou for loomer alone. I'm like, Mike Mikey Adams, mad at me. And then mister Kerry said, she whispered it into my ear at a get used to it at the Harvard club one night while we were doing rails. She said, will, you're not in New England radio unless you have a beef with Mikey Adams. She's got a point to have heard that. Yeah. So I'm strapped though. I brought a couple pieces with me tonight just in case. I hope they're Reese's pieces because I'm really really hungry. But I am glad to bury the hatchet. Seriously, talk to mister Kerry because I do have a beef. I heard she's one of your well, yeah. I'm like, I can't be on the same list as Carrie and shoe. Took my job. It's like that thing from South Park. Game. Maybe it was. You don't remember that? No. I had a whole front row seat for that. Remember, we did an event together, and then it was like the next you had gotten let go that morning and then it was like that evening, they were like, mistress Carrie is coming to the same spot, Mikey, I'm just vacated and I was like, oh, this is dirty. Yeah. And Mike schu, who's her cohort in the whole thing. It really goes back to bob Goodell who's the general manager. That big fat tub is shit..

"I probably don't really wanna work with them and so it was always a volunteer thing. And but i was there long enough that i saw you know. Dozens and dozens and dozens of leaders. Come and go and it was the ones that were like. I really need the help that succeeded and did the best job created the less. You know the least amount of noise and resistance and the ones that came in. Like why would i need that. And they would just you know. Create a whole lot of resistance a lot of noise and you know depending on the function some companies are willing to tolerate that and some are not in. There's a ripple effect thing too. Because i think a lot of organizational leaders have that fear of me and if they associate asking for help with weakness or associate on not a good leader because people are supposed to come to me as leader i'm supposed to be the arbiter of info arbiter knowledge arbiter of fill in the blank. When the reality is i mean like you said a lot of leaders. You know just need to have that. I don't know so. Let's figure it out together which does ripple down into the team. As we've talked about many times and our in culture episodes episodes dealing with just. How do you become a better leader. We noonan organizational leader can be moved past their own fear of fee being vulnerable and did. Hey i. i don't know the answer. But together i know we can figure out the answer. It ripples in everyone else kind of takes let their hair down. Let's her shoulders down. Takes a little breath and say okay cool. Maybe we don't have to have everything you know. And so you know. What have you seen. Hav organizational leaders would have been some of those key successes for those Leaders who have kind of push passer fear of what people think are feeling weak or just that vulnerability and how how you coach leaders into stepping further into just hate to be a little more vulnerable. Yeah i mean everyone's different in the way that they're you know The way that their egos and eagles aren't bad. I'm not trying to say these are all high ego people that they all have hubris. Hello we all have uh nego but it's not always the most wise director of leadership behaviors right and so it can be anything from Sing competition where it doesn't exist. So for example i had a client who and he was like the nicest guy who's not gonna greatness example but he's phenomenal But you know he was up against some pretty stiff competition in an organization where some other people had an advantage. Because of you know. Some of the diversity inclusion efforts that they had he sort of felt like. Why don't i don't have a chance to compete. Against some of these other rising stars you know. And and his his ego response was well. I'll just keep keep information from them..

"Want to open championship in europe Back in two thousand and ten but he is subsequently finished runner up at every major. Louis does nothing but show up at these tough tracks in major events in competes. This is going to be a grinder. I don't know that we're gonna see like we could see minus two minus one. Winning like tiger was mine is one in eight when they won't one here. This just fits louis. He did it the other day. A couple of weeks ago kiawah. He just kind of is a grinder. he's great on poa he putts really well. He doesn't have the distance the tee but he's really good with his long irons which elp since he's going to be going back a little bit further in the fairway again. That's thirty three to one on fan duel fifty. I'm sorry out. Fifty to one. I think on points about but thirty three on fan tool so again. That's a massive discrepancy. Just by shopping. A little bit of number. So louis you can get at it. I think fifty or five to one for top ten speaking of rory thoughts on him this week. Back to back top ten's us open's seeing plus one eight plus one eight for a top ten roy this week so rory is being way off the team that is his massive advantage similar. Bryson right in a little bit of a less way. When roy was rolling. It's off the team. And he is basically lost or been flotsam field in stroke. Seen off the tee in five of his last six events. Obviously the outlier. There was the win that he had. I'm a little off. Rory i have no problem cutting him with a live. Bet if i see. He's driving it really well on thursday. He has historically played pretty poorly on thursdays in majors So i definitely would wait and see rory's guy to track and that's other cool thing about golf that's like we don't all have you know what to make them. All on tuesday. Wednesday we can bet live matchups in game..

"And i'm like i like this guy. I like his moxie the pedigree of the way that they're talking about this guy. I don't know a ton about him. But i know that i wanna root for the guy so we did not do this ahead of time. I did not tell you that. I'm betting on twenty feet now. I did not tell you that. My second outright play is wills l. Taurus you can get forty six to one on draftkings. I think there are smarter ways to get positional bats to your points. You can find his alatorre at plus three fifty on draftkings for a top ten. That's an outstanding number. Look all this does is go to the toughest tracks against the strongest fields. And he contends top six last year in his debut as you mentioned that the us open solo second at the masters. He was topped six last month at the pga. He's terrific. He was seventh year at torrey in january for the farmers texas kid but obviously showed a comfort level in the poa greens. Which you love to see. Seventeen in field and strokes gain t- degree over his past fifty rounds when he's wayward. It's a little bit with the potter. But you like to see that. He's been a little familiar with it when he was here in january. I'm forty six to one. This guy should be closer into the mid thirties. I think we're getting a really nice number. I think historically ever look back. We're not going to be able to get wilsie over forty majors moving forward. I think you just wanna make a play blindly on the price. I am in on that. Another thing that i'm in on is an entertainment prop hole in one. Yes minus one. Thirty seven no plus one of five. I have absolutely nothing to go on for this. I saw an article. That jason logan road for covers briefly talking about this. But i haven't seen any empirical data being like this is why you should or shouldn't and of course i'm not exactly waking up in the morning being like. Oh i believe he will just gonna hit holes in one of the us open which is extremely hard to play to begin with. But guess what i like to root for. I loved root for a hole in one in me as an average at best golfer. I zero hole in wants to my name yet. Every time i step up to a par three. I call my shot because i am do therefore i am team hole in one. I'm really betting. Yes minus one thirty seven..

One and so after i started teaching and they decided i was. You know like a a legit person to work for them. Once they got to know me better and got to learn as restore ian more about our family. They were like hanging. We think that you should Like tico teacher workshop or teach like a a family yoga class during noonan syndrome awareness month and use it as a fundraiser. And i can't remember how exactly it happened whether you know. They told me to turn it into a fundraiser. That was my idea but whatever the case was we collaborated and like six years ago. I did my first noonan syndrome awareness family yoga donation class and that was like the gateway and to all these other fundraisers and kind of teaching yoga for a purpose. That was bigger than just my son care. It was a way to educate people spread awareness and also other people empower themselves as as parents and caregivers at led me to teach yoga at some rare disease events. And it's just become a really important and powerful for me. I'm always fascinated with how exercise introduces itself into these ways of bringing awareness right. Because it's like they're not they're not like social platforms you know. They're not like these things that hit masses they're very they're very relational. They're very like communal in that. In that sense. And maybe that's kind of where and why that lincoln so well 'cause you on your instagram account. It's very. it's very clear how much you care about the idea of community. And that's got that led you into starting a new account. That's called a move to advocate. Is that correct right. Yeah and so which is obviously very community focused. What what's kind of your hopes for that. Like with with kind of starting that account and maybe talk a little bit more about why does community matter to you so much and why has it become such a central. Maybe such a core idea to both your yoga experiences in now. What you wanna do without account Sure so after that first year. With ezra i had very much isolated myself. I feel like that was kind of a survival mechanism of mine was kind of just two leg retrieved and and be my own my own island kind of As i cared for him. And then once i started doing yoga i was like oh i really missed this connection with other people like oh i didn't actually know i was missing this and like i can be more powerful. I can make more of a difference when i have like the support Around me to help amplify like my voice advocacy..

Jacking that mortgage talking text line. Oh, man, things are changing. You know the best laid plans, as they always say we had. I had all kinds of things ready to talk about with the Senate and breaking news coming out just a few minutes ago. That Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell has blocked an attempt by Democrats to set up a stand alone vote. On increasing the amount of the stimulus check from 600 to $2000, Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders tried to get consent of the Senate to bring up the boat. But the Senate majority leader blocked It did not say why. But then he did. He did the signal that there might be some some other things that he would put together to bring to a vote. There's Something about a text field that has emerged as a top target for the president and the election related investigations. So This is it. It's very difficult, but we'll talk. We'll talk more about that. And I want to get your feelings about that. Were you Were you hoping against hope that the Senate would do do what many people think is right. "So Anthony is but you do something with him, right? You're all over the place. You've got stuff on the internet. You've got the website you do in club stuff, you know, sometimes these days though. I know we had Tony Tony V on he said I said like doing a show at a drive-in and he said well, it's the first time I've ever gotten a beeping ovation. Yeah, it's really strange. I was telling not I don't want to knock the gigs. Cuz we gotta you gotta do what you gotta do. Like it's it's better than nothing. That's much much better than nothing but wage I will say it's I keep saying it's more like some type of nightmare about doing stand-up comedy that you would have than it is like doing like it's like a dream you would tell another comedian like yeah. I had this weird dream where there were six people only cars and no lasting just hogging the weird feeling to look at it 200 cars, but it's kind of cool at the same time. Yeah. I kind of felt like I will excited movie it's cool, but it's still shitty though. The world is shity right now, isn't it? It's like God damn. It. Can't somebody straighten all this shit out and make me so I mean I've been depressed. It's just nothing's the same. I can't even take a happy dump anymore. You're not wrong. I've been I've been masking up to do that. Just just to be safe, you know, put the mask off just to take a number two, but it's it does kind of suck right now. I try not to focus on it too much but then you go outside and you see like kids playing and masks and down one wants to kiss me anymore. You know, they didn't want to do it the first time but now people are really scared. Yeah. I missed the women just walking up to me in the street and wanting to french kiss like they used to it. I mean, so I cut a hole in my mask just to be just in case I guess what nothing not even affectionate people just French guys sticking bad gets in there all the time. That's awful. Yeah. What was that Joe Castiglione show cuz you're you're so ugly that the Proctologist shoves his finger finger in your mouth you Joe, I think of birth. You still doing that one, but I heard that they probably had the same wings out there on it for everybody to take on a buffet. You know. Well, I got a job you though how how's your podcast pretty good? So he kind of moved it's on you know, the it's on it's on the YouTube. And so we come right back up Thursday at noon. It's hypothetically. So that's the whole thing hypothetically is kind of was a podcast that I did for that. I sort of stopped doing. Yeah, which is my new podcast. It's much more like it's much more true faith based. Yeah, no looting showman. It's really like a real polish show like this one right now, but like hypothetically was like kind of just me in my College Drive at a gig talking about but it was kind of interesting. I started doing it when I was really really new in the business and I was doing some pretty crappy gigs and I was often too long drives went over the years of Your Life podcast the gates got a little bit better and then like a real like a real dick head. I just stopped doing it. Well, you know, we gotta get we should get the high the hypothetically, you know, someone should still that cuz it's really good. But the Highlight still got it and you know, it came from a joke that I had cuz I used to say I I smoke weed. Hi, that's how I get hypothetically. I smoke weed. Hi. It's not like a pathetic. That's how I feel every reminds me of what you say you say about my ex-wife. You know, I said people say what happened with your first wife I say well is incompatibility my income and her pad ability. In fact, I'm glad I want to take we should get him to go to the Hiatus. And forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate in parts of Napa and Sonoma County's fire fighter. Freedom Summer: Barbara Lee

"In June nineteen sixty four freedom summer also known as the Mississippi Summer Project was a volunteer campaign across America to attempt to register as many black American voters as possible in Mississippi. News coverage of freedom summer shed a light on the white supremacy and police brutality that black Americans face. We. Don't Tuesday night the finding of three bodies in graves at the site of a damn near Philadelphia Mississippi where three civil rights workers disappeared six weeks ago. Over the past few weeks we have been experiencing another freedom summer. Minnesota are saying to people in New York two people in California to people in Memphis to people all across this nation enough is enough cell phone videos and social media are once again providing glaring spotlight on the inequities and injustice that are woven into the fabric of American society. In this special season of the browns to politics, we are diving into the past in how is impacting our present and future. For protests to political campaigns and youth involvement change is in the air and the fight for liberation continues. We'll be hearing from some of the Black Women at the forefront at today's movement who are fighting for change in making history to ensure that we have justice for all. Her name was even floated as a potential. VP. Pick for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's. It is no surprise that would ever congress is debating issues of equity and justice. Congress will lease voice is one of the strongest and most prominent today we talk about her work as a college student, a member of the Black Panther Party and what Congress is, do we to fight systems of oppression to reshape reimagined our political world? Congresswoman Barbara Lee thank you so much for joining us and happy belated birthday. Breaking very good happy with you. I'm really excited to talk to you today and for our listeners, the congresswoman is such a legend and all of her work that she has done in. Congress over the years especially for Black Brown and indigenous communities by I have to ask you this question because it's something that I just wanted to talk to you about for so long is. You were a part of the Black Panthers. What was it like being? Black Panther I actually was not a member of the Black Panther Party I was what they call the community worker community workers had a lot of responsibilities as the Black Panther. Party. Members and remember the Black Panther Party began as a result of police Gupta brutality and the African American community. I mean. They stood down the police because things, police, murders, police Retali- as we know now were occurring then and they were the first organization that really took the police on, and so it was out of that that the Black Panther party formed, there's the Bible programs because it was not only an organization that address police brutality, but it was an organization that addresses chemic-. Racism and poverty. and. So what I did, and which was really phenomenal work and I was a single mother on public assistance with two little boys. I helped sell newspapers like math a newspaper on street corners I actually participated in the breakfast program for children who didn't have whose parents didn't have enough money to buy food and that's actually the breakfast programs from the federal government. Actually. Started as a result of the of the models that the Black Panther party you. I also really worked with you. He knew then did the research on his book Revolutionary Suicide. It was really phenomenal project I got to know Huey Newton Bobby Seale, Elaine Brown, Erica Huggins Joan Kelly, who just passed away and many of the leadership of the black. Panther party because community worker and student I was very involved in a lot of the work with party members. I actually brought Shirley Chisholm got involved in politics through the first presidential the first. Time. A black woman ran for president and that was sure children who was the first African American woman elected to Congress and so the Black Student Union president I invited her to come to milk college where I was attending and I got involved in her campaign by herb insisting that I register the vote and I had a class go because I didn't WanNa work in any of those campaigns. Well, bottom line is working her campaign and got the Black Panther party really involved in voter registration efforts. I. Was the one that went and asked Huey Noonan Bobby Seale to consider becoming politically active around early Chisholm campaign and they did. So I worked on all phases of the black. Panther. Party and all the different divisions I actually bag groceries. You know the panthers had a whole ten point program which again, the Free Breakfast program for the kids They started the Community Health Center Movement by instituting the George Jackson free medical clinic they did sickle cell tests. In fact, there was the Black Panther party that raises awareness about sickle cell disease as a as a disproportionate impact African Americans Fast Board Twenty Twenty people in the African American community and Black and Brown news still struggling disproportionately as it related to food security food desert healthcare disparities, unequal education. I. Helped. Start. Actually I wrote the first proposals for the Black Panther Party community learning center. They establish a Black Panther party school and so I was very instrumental in working on that project. So I did a lot of work with the Black Panther Party and I can just speak to how phenomenal they were and how necessary they were and how we should as we move forward. You know there's this Symbol in a gun and Andy. In government in Ghana called and Copeland. If the bird beautiful bird looking back holding an egg in her mouth and like in order to move forward in order to blackboard and you have to look back, we have to know our history we know where we've been and we have to build upon that so that we can move forward it. Now a wonderful young people in the Movement for Black, flags, or dreamers all the movements that are taking place are a continuation of what I see as the civil rights movement of of today, as well as what Black Panther Party actually started as it relates to stand down and and thing that that policing in our community. chain stop disproportionate killing black, and Brown people

Netflix's 'Tiger King' was watched by 34 million viewers in the US in 10 days, according to Nielsen

"Tiger King on Netflix was watched by 34 million people in the 1st 10 days after it was released, making it one of the most popular series of all times. It was about this little known Area in the world. Life of zookeeper Joe exotic on people who collect animals and have these little roadside zoos that we're going to talk about. Joe Exotic was accused and convicted of exploiting wild animals and also plotting to kill another conservationists who campaigned against him. He sentenced to 22 years in prison. And Ah, well, I I want to talk a little bit about. Why can you buy a tiger? Can you imagine you can buy a tiger cub for as little as $2000? Why was this guy allowed to run this roadside zoo with seem like no regulation by the government. And are there laws And why aren't there laws to protect these beautiful wonderful animals? Joining us is not really the foremost expert in the country. On this topic. Kearney and Nasserist serves as the director and assistant clinical professor of animal welfare at Michigan State College of Law. She runs Klaus Consulting on has a great podcast called Tiger Talk. Welcome to the show. Carney. How are you? I'm fine. Thank you for having me so excited to talk about this topic because it's just fascinating and let me at first ask you. How were you involved in the Joe exotic thing at all in any way, shape or form? I'm the attorney who pitched the wildlife trafficking case the federal prosecutors against him so suddenly, the murder for hire thing didn't happen until after the K five hits with already under investigation for a couple of years, you know, he was charged with multiple counts of illegal trafficking. He's charged with multiple counts of illegally killing Haider violate teenager thinking back and That's already been underway. So, yeah, I mean, I was pretty neck deep in it, actually. So you know, being involved in the animal law world as I assume you are you knew about Joe exotic. You knew about what he was doing there and people in the in that milieu knew what he was doing. Is that right? Sort of robotic has long been, you know, on the top at the top of the list of the most notorious abuser than a goiter of big cats in the country, So you know, he all of the things that made for a great reality show that a lot of people who wanted to watch it during quarantine or the things that we had already known about been accustomed to you for one time, But I told people I live in New Orleans, you know? After you've seen that person you have painted themselves head in gold body caves and thinking on top of the stair on Bourbon Street. It's not there. No wow. Factor left any more. And the same is true for Joan thought it We've been after him for a long, long time. So you know, Chicago here has two world class ooze. We have Brookfield Zoo. I grew up very close. I could almost hear I actually when the wind was blowing right, you could hear some of the noises from the animals. And then we have Lincoln Park Su another beautiful city zoo, and I had never heard of a roadside zoo. I mean, I never understood that someone could just open up. Zoo without having certain regulations. Now tell me are there now regulations that would prohibit a Joe exotic from acquiring big, beautiful animals and putting them in a zoo? Like a menagerie of animals, capped by unqualified people who just collected animals that they want to open their doors in charge. If anybody can get us life in, um like from the U. S Department of Agriculture, which is the threshold entry point in order to get animals to the public and the application of the $30 That is really what hate you open a road pie deal. If you pass a pre lightened infection know that you're probably only going to be some feel about One infection per year in the U. S. D a very understaffed. It's notorious even in his own internal auditing department for failing to enforce applicable regulations, which are very, very low standards of care. Like Do the animals have water? Do they have food? Do they get veterinary care? Then they stand up, turn around and lie down on DNA with Russell, you know, And so in a, for example, like in a state like Illinois The law states that you know you cannot own. There can't be any private ownership of of the danger of exotic animals. Not great. Sounds like a prohibition. It is not really in practice because all it requires to circumvent that prohibition is to get that USDA license tell the federal agency that you have some future plan couldn't get an animal to the public. Pay your $30 half your initial infection and rock and roll and keep those animals so a lot of loopholes in victim lives on nine Good point, Illinois. But in fact, there are four things that don't have any regulation whatsoever. Existing federal laws are fraught with the pole that are really easy to circumvent. And that's why we've seen the proliferation of roadside menagerie that can operate on DH. The proliferation the pirate in particular. Let's go back to that this issue of the laws and changing the laws and all of that, but You're telling me you pay your $30 you go through these preliminary steps, and you can get a baby Tiger. If I wanted to do that, Carney if I just said, OK, I really like these cute little tiger's My my house. Pets from the DuPage animal shelter are just not doing it for me and I and I going to qualify and I get where do I go? And how much do I have to pay to get a tiger coming in? And how hard would it be for me to do that? You may have paid more and your tax deductible donation to the shelter for your rescue dogs. You have to pay to get a tiger. "Happy Saint Patrick's Day Brian Noonan on seven twenty WGN the festivities. Who knows for some people the festivities have wrapped up for others. They will go into the wee hours. The river is still green. So that's nice. I didn't get to see see them die the river yesterday. But to be able to look out on an energy still break. Green today. Much like my beard. It will take a while for the green to dissipate and the river to go back to its usual, sludge green color. Not the bright not the bright green that we associate with Saint Patrick's Day the sludge green that we associate with like Wednesday. Did you see what somebody posted on social media? So if they can die the river green. Why can't they diet blue boy every year we hear the same joke? Thank that's terrific. Did you get it? Get it. Get it. Got it because it's a river. It should be waters. You'll be blow. Tough day for the White Sox. Wasn't it? I've torn forget and games like this. Because. You got players who are out there. They're trying to make it to the show. And you know, they're not going to the show. This is so, you know, you get to farmers said at the end of the broadcast you get to see some of the starters do their work. And then you see guys who. I admire I admire that skill and dedication it takes to get even to that even to that point to play in a spring training game for the big club. But then you know, that most of them after you know after this week. It's it's done. That's their dream. They go back to the minors, and they keep knocking around or they decide you know, what maybe it's time to hang up the spikes and move on. It's gotta be a horrible to see could be it's hard for anything to chase a dream. And then not quite get it. But I think it's even it might even be harder for an athlete to get to that point. Because you know, if you're a musician you, yeah, you've put in tons of hours. It's probably the same kind of thing. You've put in all those hours practicing all those gigs at bars and clubs and smoky rooms garages and dances. And just like a baseball player, especially you're coming up through the minors. And you're riding buses. Oh my goodness. And then you get close in one day, you get to put on the you know, you put on that uniform and you go out to play for the for the big club. And you know, it's just them looking in. Then you go back, and that's not your year. You know, you're going to be you're going to be there for you there for another couple of years. So it's hard. But opening day is not far away. Cody SOX home opener April fourth. It's only a couple of days after a birthday if people are looking for gifts. That's my birthday. Here's April fourth them. All there because I forgot I thought yours was the day before my hours is a day after so April fourth if you want to send Cody night of the SOX home opener White Sox if you're listening come on. My post eleven days to opening day in general. Any references that are not tied to social media. No not anymore. Do things you've said to be have been so social behavior. There's a whole world out there. Really, I wonder through it. No way. Yes. I do. I do practice social media. But you practice practice like minor league. She's in the minor aged. Don't get yourself Palam on Twitter certified. Verified. So you may want to back off. All right. So what? Yes every day if you follow. Roger there's ears are plugged Roger. He makes the Yankee Yankee motion follow Roger and you could see every day. He posted a different baseball card and that player's number is how many days it is to opening day. Right. But today was one of our one of my favorite players from the White Sox from nineteen sixty nine Louis apprecia-. Oh, very nice. Yeah. We have flirtation on Rogers last social media ramblings. They did die the river. Blue in the cubs won the World Series. I wasn't paying attention. So. The into the parade and stuff. I don't even remember the blue now. Just another quick because Saint Patrick's Day will go on a little bit Catherine Connor, I kind of our good friend, wonderful, wonderful vocalist. She'd been on the show before she's on Rick Kogan show. A lot the old Saint patch show was moved to the auditorium theatre for this Tuesday night because the CFO is on strike. So if you still want to see the old Saint PAT's show this Tuesday night, it is going to be at the auditorium theatre. So you can go and check that out. And I'm sure if you Google old Saint PAT's show and auditorium theatre you'll be able to get all the information. So we'll do that. All right since we're talking about theater. Oh, a segue seamlessly. It's time for another bowtie feed review. I had the pleasure of going this week to see a Bronx tale, which is playing at the James neater Landers theater, formerly the oriental theatre. Now. Here's the thing. It's only here for another week. It was a very short two week engagement. It had opened on Broadway and done very well. So now, it's on a national tour. If you're not familiar with a Bronx tale, maybe you heard of it Chazz Palminteri wrote a one man show years ago that one man show, he then turned into a film. Which did very well with Robert deniro de Niro, directed it. He loved the script so much that deniro directed the film Chazz Palminteri start as sunny, the mobster in the movie, and and, but basically a Bronx tale Chaz is story of growing up in the Bronx in the late fifties early sixties if you've seen the movie. This is the one this is the one problem. I had with the show if you've seen the movie the movie's pretty gritty the show because it's a Broadway musical while. It has some heavy parts is a little more upbeat. Putting that.

"Years after breweries with Brian Noonan. It's been too long the breweries, and I am joined as always John Carruthers from a revolution brewing. Jesse Valenciana who just made it in the Nick of time from goose island. Oh my gosh. John. And I were we're ready to catch him. You're late you, and you're gone. Well, welcome back. Happy new you're happy. Happy new year. Jesse's pull copepod. He's like you like Felix the cat with his bag. Oh here. And I've got another beer here. And this is going on if you are new to the segment at the breweries the guys come in. And they review three different styles of beer. They pick one that is kind of the baseline. And then try another one today we are going to try Cezanne's. We're going to try Mexican lagers and Stoute's porter hoarders Puerto orders. Oh, very nice. So we'll start you know, we haven't talked since December. So I know there's some new things happening. What's happening new revolution? You got a couple of new things going on. Yeah. Just off those five minutes. I spent dry in January. Got a new every day. I it's four point three percent alcohol in fifteen packs literally just launched last week. It's still going into stores, but I really like it. I just had it today. It's fantastic. The lazy dad loves the four point three percent. A lot of places. Are I'm seeing are coming out with that. Because for a while everything was heavy heavy heavy people like well. I you know, I can only have one or two. I did I can't drink these during the day be coherent. So it's nice everybody coming out with a lower AB without sacrificing any taste or the quality. I wish I participated in any athletic endeavors because it'd be the perfect ear for that. Nice. And then you've also got a new beer created by some of the female employees at revolution. That's coming up. Yes spirit of revolt. So this was this is back. It was a draft only released last year. It is now in cans, so by you this beer goes to benefit this local charity does great work called connections for abused women and their children. So everyone who buys us who drinks this. When this us. Nice so beer and a good call. We're throwing an art show at the taproom on March eighth. Do you know? Culminate the whole fundraising effort, very nice spirited revolt. And the art on the can one of the employee's came up with that was based on a sketch by one of our bartenders her and her husband all talented artist. Kind of concept of this. Character is supposed to be like, you know, every Chicago woman. Very nice. So that spirit of revolt. It's on it's on sale now in cans Canadian it's still on tap it the tapper yes, perfect go. What's new what's new at goose start? We actually we've got a really cool by coming up in March. Women in brewing at the Ted the brew pub and clyborn so in keeping with women's von thin. It's pretty awesome stuff that we're doing. We've got some events throughout the they were going to be doing to support. Women in brewing which school. Two months of the year, baby. Yeah. That's right. Definitely as a tribute. You also had that you also had the fun dibs release the which crushed I was not play. There was I wanted to get out just because I had gone through January. And I was like, oh, I need a beer. And so I went, and I had no no intention of debating, and you kept do you do? He jesse. I'm not going to do this. That was it. One beer I had to. So I was pretty good. And you should know that when you're near me, you're not going to have just one beer's. True anticlimactic. I I was only going to have one beer, and I'm like, oh, man. I can't wait to hear where. I had to McMahon. That's the worst. Trying to be very responsible. It was the middle of the day. Plus, I was coming off not drink it for a month. Oh, I hear you to two of those two of those port. I was that was plenty have more police horse or something. But I did punch a verbally punch. The guy. Who thought he was going to destroy me? And I just punch. Mike Tyson, you Mike Tyson this kid, I did you ever see eight mile, John? Yeah. Where at the end Eminem doses. This guy so bad. He cannot respond more in that hoodie. That was exactly what happened to the point where he actually he turned around. And I have nothing you win as nice fired him because we're like, this is we. I mean. Craft beer is always watching the lights, go out and somebody's eyes. So so you've got the big goose has the the big event in March for women in brewing. We do we're also going to be goose island is going to be at the James beard house March. I oh, yes. Yeah. So you're thing in New York. It is very New Yorker tell people about that. So the guys from steadfast, which is a amazing restaurant in downtown Chicago chef ender, and I am Chris who does all of their their participant chef. So we're putting together a six course three appetizer dinner at the James beard house and everything is paired with goose island beer to the dishes are paired with virtue cider, and there's a bunch of different beer, actual beer as ingredients in the courses. So it's pretty fascinating. Very nice. Sounds good. All right. Let's get into. What is our first style that we are going to experiment with today. So we're bringing it back in gently. We're going to do Mexican laggard. Crisp refreshing, everyone's had corona or Takata. I never. So we have got the classic Maddelo. This is just picked this because this is my favorite Nager Maddelo, even better too. I love to not bring any lines the brewery, not at the let me let me ask this. Yeah. Archerd? In florida. I have always been steadfastly against pudding fruit pudding, lime in in a beer is that doing it wrong might, you know, realistically, my exception is Mexican lagers. So what sets a Mexican lager apart from old styles a logger? What's the what makes a Mexican logger Mexican law? Mexican lives are essentially just Vienna. Loggers? Okay. And then, you know, Takata the Modell's the world kind of took off and that was the style. There is a big influx of different immigrants that came through rookie immigrants and the NFL appear took off. Yeah. And Mexico claimed it as their own. I mean, you think of you think of places where maybe you've gone on vacation in Mexico is usually hot tropical. It's it. You know, so nice crisp light beer goes perfectly. We're sitting on the beach. Oh, totally. And that's the whole citrus thing my dad, my grandfather, you saw in bars. And he said the reason there's limes- and beer, and I don't know if this is a story that he keep up with what he said, the beers would come in open trucks. Yes. There was always dirt. I heard of them. I've heard that. Same sued gravel lime slice it up, and they would clean the top of the can. And just kind of like squeeze put in the can which is counterintuitive if you've used the line to clean off a rag you've jammed it in your beer, it'd be like taking the bar ragged. This is delicious like the suicide of. So what do you like, what do you? What do you guys like about Madala to make this the baseline? Because I've I've I like I like the Negra Delo ally such a great so good people get scared of it because it's dark, but it it's darker, but it's still almost just as light as the regular Mondello. Yeah. We've talked about this before with when people see like a Guinness. I don't like those big heavy beers. It's too strong. And you're like this is like a four point two. And it's so light. I mean, it's the carbonation little bit different. But. What we like about Medella? I mean what I like about Mondello? It's really straightforward. It's refreshing. There's flavor to it. But it's not that like cheat grainy kinda corny. Yeah. Lager that someone spent some time wanting to make nice for you. And it says SPCA mechanical means a special always. What what's on? This is what I'm looking at right now. These count calorie wise are these these are not light beers right there. They're lighter on the palate. What I really like Bob Mondello Takata is like they're so loud in the pal. The really effervescent. So like when you're eating a taco with great with. Yeah. Yeah. They complement whatever you're having a cheat sheet. All right. So what? Now, we've we've had the baseline which is Madonna when everybody there's a place near me that on Fridays. The Ford the Medalla tour boys are four dollars. Oh, so I've enjoyed -joyed some food with a few Medeiros enjoy which is also a benefit. So what is now? What are we going to compare for comparison says Cruz Blanca Mexico calling lager espec-, Al oh, four point seven a special lager? Always. But this is like non-drowsy a blackout Buron here. Forever. Jack of the brew master does work over there. And they also have a heck of a kitchen so all their beers and really have that kind of culinary aspect in mind brewing brewing, there is obviously the priority is the beer is there. Also an eye toward this is do they collaborate does a kitchen in the brewery collaborate or does the does one react to another? I guess is what I'm asking. What the the great thing about what I've seen at cruises. Jacob is like mad scientists, and he's got a brilliant mind. And he gets a really run that beer program. We wants it and the food's just fantastic. And there's always gonna be some credit crossover. Okay. I'm sure Jacob. He does is really amazing coconut toasted coconut that he doesn't make enough. Hope you're listening. But yeah, the kitchen. They do this like toasted coconut porter to it. So there's that they're using in the kitchen that they're incorporating to their beers. You know, and that just naturally to these different pairings that happened there. Now, this one seems a little a little heavier. Yeah. Creamery less effervescent than than the Modesto still light. But just there's there's a different texture on your tongue. When you when you take a drink. It's a little thicker and a taste test Morris or balance to the malt. So it's got all sweetness. Then you also notice if you look in your glass, kind of hold the head a little longer than your Medalla does it's really pretty it's real good though. I mean, those are pretty drink. But not so pretty that. I will not have not met the two pretty beer yet. All the beers. Cody is now now you're looking you're looking long. You are welcome. You know, you're welcome to come in. He he gets very jealous should be could be yours. What other so in the Mexican lager family for the traditionalist you mentioned Miguel, you mentioned corona is there something if somebody other than the cruise which people can pick up at the store to is there another one where you go if you want to delve in. Here's another local local brewery that's doing a Mexican logger. Really? Well, there is a kind of like an explosion of Mexican lagers in the last couple of years so everybody, but now does like their version of it. I feel crews and making the best one if you wanna go if you want to spend a little bit more and go beyond the Modell's in Takata is the Mexico calling is debate. It's I love it. It's a crusher. That's all live in there. I don't know if they hate me for that. But that I wonder I wonder that too. If if Jamie already of the brewers, you don't need to do that with ours are archaic system is clean. Top. We're good. I'm on the beach here. This is what I'm doing. So people should be looking for in a Mexican lager. Effervescence lightness a little bit of citrus flavor. Yeah. If you put the lime in I mean naturally. It should have naturally. I mean, it doesn't you're gonna. Yeah. I can see where I mean. I don't know if it's just that. It's a perfect pairing. We have trained to have citrus. So many times I think just works. Great. Yeah. What's the on this one four seven? You could you can enjoy throughout the day and into the night. And then the next morning. Yeah. You know, the the little toy the remote control boats has that happened yet in the time line. I did see the movie, I just can't remember you. So yeah, we're kind of hopping around with this thing. But I do want to mention that one of the one of the henchmen is is the great character actor Tom Noonan who's he's he's in the central park central park scene. And you know, where he's trying to capture Rollie, Andy, or at least Raleigh or their setup per meeting or something and he's supposed to take a minute. I guess right. What? Yeah. He had followed. Andy, it seems like people are always following the women in this movie. Because I think that the woman killed are ready that she was followed. And an Andy ends up getting followed. Lose the toll one, but then they defeat Tom Noonan in a very eighteen way by pushing him into the water. And of course, there's no way that he can get out of that and pursue them with any sort of speed. We saw GI. Run to he's so so tall just kind of looks like he's going and slow motion. It didn't make much sense to to knock him into the water. I mean, it was kind of cool to to have Andy distract them. You know, saying if you wanna you know, rallies got he's got a gun pointed at your head. And if you wanna talk to him, you signal by putting this boat in the water, and and Brian Browns just like watching him do this rather than getting a head start on running away. You know, he's he's watching him go toward the water. Watching him put the boat in the water. And then he sneaks up behind him and pushes him in even though he can get right back out. You know, it was like, you know, it's a good like fifteen seconds almost of nice head start. You coulda got could've got there. But and now and now Tom Noonan who by the way has done my podcast twice. Just thought I mentioned that as an aside is even angrier and more motivated to do harm. So I don't know. You're right. Why would they do that? If memory serves that wasn't in the read one of the drafts of the screenplay was from Japan of eighty five, and I found interesting this movie, even though it came out in eighty six has an eighty five copyright on it. So I wonder if it was delayed for a little bit after it was completed 'cause normally, you know, unless it's coming out in January, you're gonna see the same year on the film, generally as the the year that was made. But that seemed like they might have been still fussing with that scene up until the very end. And maybe the solution wasn't the best. But it's still nice to see Tom Noonan. And he comes back later on when it's the gangsters are the bad guys are all playing cards, and I was like, okay. That's kind of nice that he's still around. He he managed to survive that terrific fall into the pond. We should say dude in the phone booth that they think is Raleigh. So he's around he's around from the very beginning. But you know, you probably right. He probably just actually the actor fell in the water. And they decided you know, what we're going to cover this up by not going to dry them off. We're just gonna we'll come back and reshoot him actually falling in. And it'll it'll play that's probably what happened. It's so nice to see him show up in this. And then I was so thrilled to see Roscoe Orman show up as the police chief. No kidding. Holy cow. That that always pulls me out. Visit his Sesame Street. Okay. I wondered if it was a Sesame Street connection, or is Willie d connection that this me street all the way, it was Gordon get the same mustache is. Great, look, but not going to change that up at all for, you know, you're too I kinda performances. Well, and then he gets to ask for the gun and badge, which you know, that's one of my favorite montages of all time is when people take all those I need your gun in your badge statements and just put those altogether place. You know, the rules give batch. Imagine your bed. Will take your guns? Not take your word that Hello over with the investigation..
