"With Colleen O'Brien and Chris Sullivan and Rachel Bells, says she wanted to talk about Alabama yoga and yearbook. Cleavage, which strike me is too hopelessly conflicted Concepts. But give me the What's the update on the yoga and I thought you'll go was outlawed in Alabama public schools. Yes, it has been outlawed since 1993 actually outlawed in the state of Alabama, and there's a lawmaker who has been working for a couple years to try to reverse this. He's arguing that it is a form of exercise and a good way for kids to relax and other benefits, which we'll get to you. But Christian conservatives have back this band because they say that yoga would open the door for people to be converted to Hinduism. So actually, the bill has Finally passed in Alabama that they are now allowing public schools to offer yoga. But there are some restrictions in place so it can on Lee be exercised. It cannot be religious or spiritual in anyway, One of the things they say is, you cannot say Nomis day at any time, which, if you've never been to a yoga class is often the way that a classes ended simply. The teacher will say, Nomis day and the students will say it back, so I wanted to look up. First of all, and just see what that meant. And I found this interesting article on NPR because in the United States, I guess it's good. Have taken on a little bit of a spiritually meaning. Not necessarily, but this Indian woman said, you know, growing up. It just was a respectful way to say goodbye like it's basically just a salutation, but one of respect you would save your elder. So, she said. You know, we would say it all the time and there was nothing religious or spiritual about it. It was just a greeting. But she said when she moved to America and start taking yoga classes, she was so confused why people would you know, say it and bow, she said. That's Not how I'd ever used it. But it's kind of taken on a new meeting in the states as I bowed to you, But I would still argue it's not religious. Other things that are banned, chanting mantra mood. Ra's use of mandalas induction of hypnotic states guided imagery, Nomis Day and meditation. Also, they're not allowed to use any of the Sanskrit names you can on Li Yu's English names like Downward Dog and Tree Pose Things like That s O. The State representative. His name is Jeremy Graves, and he actually Like all of that extra language that was added with all of those things are prohibited. Also, they are requiring kids to get a parental permission slip before they can take any of the yoga classes. He didn't like any of that, and he said, Fine. I just want to get this bill through. I tried last year didn't work. Let's do it. But history is he started doing yoga when he played football at North Carolina State University, he says, quote studies have shown that yoga helps Children cope with daily stressor Improves behavior flexibility strength in concert. Nutrition. And he said doing yoga has never stopped him from going the Baptist Church on Sunday that they have been doing yoga in football programs You know, across the state of Alabama for years, and for people who don't know it's also been years in Seattle that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has had his team doing meditation and yoga for many years. Yeah, I mean, once. Once you tell Alabamans that you can win football games by teaching yoga, I would think this would be a slam dunk. Meantime, in a Florida school district. The seniors looked at their yearbook pictures and found that the boys pictures were unaltered. But any girl who showed any cleavage had her dress Photoshopped toe hide it. And apparently, the girls didn't like that. The thing is, Rachel. This is nothing new because it brought back memories of of our high school yearbook, which would have been 1969. They actually draped over all the girls. So they had this black drape which had a prescribed V neck, which is well above the cleavage line. And so all the girls looked exactly the same. I graduated high school in 1997. And we also had to wear that same black draped with the Venus. Interesting. Yeah, but that's so interesting. You say that because I never thought about why If that's interesting. I wonder if they did that so that they could make sure that they could control But people showed. I just thought they wanted everyone to look the same in the yearbook. Weird. Okay, so this story also comes from the South. Surprise surprise. This one's from Florida. ST John's County, Florida from a school called Bartram Trail, High School and the students Yet, like you said they didn't know this was gonna happen. They got their yearbooks back in either There would be a digital black bar placed over their chest. Or they would like, If someone who was wearing a plaid shirt, they would, you know, cover. Their chest with plaid like it was all done very poorly, very badly. When you look at the before pictures, these aren't scandalous fixtures and you know, even if they are, like, you know, none of us are here to body. Shame or say how a girl could rest. You know, we're trying to get rid of that kind of idea that you know she wore this so she deserved what happened to her like, you know, and what it does, these girls said, is they felt sexualized because They felt like they done nothing wrong and the fact that they were covered up. It's kind of like when you believe about a word. Maybe it wasn't a bad word, but you assume it was because they believed it. You know, these girls were like, Why am I being covered up? And so parents were upset about this. There's a quote from a mom who said they're all good students, and we're gonna focus on whether we have too much shoulders showing it's out of control. Also, another parent, said the school did a horrible job of protecting our Children's mental health by body shaming. It's making our kids feel like they should cover up their bodies. They should be ashamed of them, and that was humiliating. Many of them remember going to the dentist as a child and in the dentist's office. He had these pictures of Greek statues, right It was. It was a print, so it was in a frame. But it was of these Greek naked Greek statues. Somebody had painted lacy underwear over the women's statues. So the kids in the dental chair wouldn't be scandalized. But lacy underwear it It's kind of like what we've been talking about here. I feel like the lacy underwear makes it more sexualized than just seeing everybody you know, in ancient art, Rachel Bell. Thank you. Thanks, Dave. By 53. Cairo Radio. Real time traffic.

"Then finally came. I got a hot meal. I've got a shower and she just started this gratitude list, which I think was so healthy. Yeah, You know, I got my car started today. Oh, my goodness. I got in my car and it started when we take that for granted. And, you know Oh, I've got you know, Internet. You know, I've got a refrigerator. I've got a washing machine. I don't have to go and get the Strub bored out. I don't have to bury things and salt down the creek. And reminds me that government that guy that was talking about flight and he said, you know, he gets on an airplane. Oh, and he says, Oh, you know, they get on the airplane. You're sitting down. You're getting ready to get on the Internet and do something on your computer. And they tell you that the WiFi is down and your response is. Oh, my gosh, I can't. No, I don't believe the WiFi is down. You're saying but you're fine through the air at 27,000 ft. And, you know, like you should be able to appreciate this. And you know, I'm thinking, you know, my dog walks out when I get home and greets me. I mean, that's pretty cool. I just to me that's a habit that you get into. Yeah. And for people to go. I'm just going to write a letter to 2020 and you know, maybe it'll make you feel better. But I think you know what'll make you really feel good is just just just think it takes a little bit of effort. I think that the benefits and the dividends that it pays are so much greater when you kind of look at life in a thankful manner that way. Totally agree so much gratitude to have you know too much healthier. Yeah. I mean, there's studies on that, too. Yeah, it kind of goes back to what you and Jim were talking about earlier with the world ending again next year. I guess it starts right. Maybe. That the world's gonna end again is Yeah, it's it's always a little You know, it's always happening, said half empty half full, You know, I've always been a half full person and it's hard for me to understand Half empty people like you just described. Right if they don't take for granted, I have there's homeless people. There are hungry people. I have a roof over my head. You said I have clothes. Yeah, And you know the reality of it is we have so many things to be thankful for in a year like this year and You know, I drive around right this time of year. I'm looking at Christmas lights and cold pants. Somebody took the effort to put these things up. This is really cool, right? Really? For us. I mean that zey huge thing. All right, we'll get back to invest as stuff. I swear we'll get back to investing things. But I think that's a really positive note to think about because we've had a crazy crazy year and a lot of people. You congrats into kind of a funk around. You know this time of year in bingo fan things air rough, But there's somebody thinks we think it kind of relates to investing because our phones never ringing off the hook. In the appears right, right or even I won't just say ours, but I said cause ours Don't ring off the hook whole lot in the down years because of the coaching in the teaching that we do, but you know, but it goes, You know, you could have all these great years and there's one bad year and that's what everybody wants. I've been tremendously thankful for clients that called up this year and it was, you know, you think you're gonna be talking him off the ledge, and they're wanting to invest more. I mean, you know it was not not because of how it benefits us. But just the fact That they understood the coaching in the education so well that they weren't fearful. And he didn't throw them into the so you know, we have smart friends in the business yes, and sometimes sell some of your favorite products. You know annuities? Yeah. Yeah. So would I have a good friend on the floor? Of course, man, Man, I bet your phone's ringing off the hook, Not right for this year, but previous years, but Uh okay. Well, what he's 18 18 right here. And I know it's not because we teach people right up front. Yeah, you know, set proper expectations, right? We had a referral coming this week. Her mother had passed. Her son called us because his grandmother passed and she said, Of course, they know Paul Winkler. Everybody knows following so they've heard the show. It's actually interesting I've talked about often, but her boss said. Go to Paul workers for her inheritance. Just go to public. You're pulling her, so she comes into office because I just kind of in a little panic because your brother called said Hey, this state has been settled. So you need to get your money because I need open up account. I just need you to open up an account and I got to get this money into your nomis Day E said you don't even really know what we do. So let me tell you what it is that we did and whatever else you know And then her son sitting there and she goes, so she's 69. He's 30 back and he goes. Wow. I didn't know there was all that much to this. Hmm. I probably need you to look at my old for one case. Sure. Yeah, about what we do. Yeah. You don't get in a hurry. And because I just find the more people understand it, The more disciplined they are, and the better long term clients. They are really called us Every presidential election. Yeah, that's great stuff..

"Mr Tony Bennett yet, pan. We're playing this for a reason. Mark, I'll turn it over to you. Well, you know, it's sports or a business like anything else. And last week, the Giants said their final farewell. I'm guessing your final farewell to Pablo Sandoval, who is one of their World Series heroes and one of my favorite guys, You know, he was a fat old guys still playing baseball. So that's why he was kind of my favorite. But when I went away to the red side went to what he thought was greener pastures found out they weren't life wasn't greener on the other side of the Hill and And came back home. But anyways, I know we're a travel show. But still it's just Pablo is headed for greener pastures. And then the A's lost the third baseman the other day and I immediately thought to myself. Well, you know, I mean, maybe So we'll see you tease before the break Tom about, uh, yeah. There you go. And let's do this. Let's systematically go through this great list. You You sent me a copy of and we'll talk about it and you can talk about your sources and such let's begin at the top. Uh, number one. How do you greet someone in today's world? Well, what? What is the protocol? Well, I think a lot of adults now are using the Ah The elbow thing, But of course, in order to knock elbows. Think about it in order to get close enough to knock elbows. You really have to get close enough to shake hands. So while you're not involving your hands, you are You know if you're trying to avoid people why You're not so anyway, This guy's idea was that etiquette experts said two of them said they were recent helped contribute to this article, and they suggested the nomis Day. Which is, of course, a kind of a Hindu bao. It's a yoga thing if you've practiced yoga, you know this and I'm Ah, yoga practicing Yogi. And so I thought that would be a good idea. You know you get respectful thing, and that would work. But some people probably would consider that to be a little bit religious. They might think that You know, and they would be You know, kind of true. And also, here's another idea. One etiquette person is a fan of the smiles short for smiling with your eyes. Supermodel Tyra Banks is the master of this and you can find her how to videos online, he said. So I can see that. You know, even with the mask on, you can kind of let folks know with your eyes that you're smiling, Don't you think? You know, for some people easier than others. But but, yeah, you could. You can, You know, Eyes reveal so much so that that's that's a great suggestion. Well, you know, this one this even though I haven't ventured out and dined out, I've often thought about this when you're wearing your mask and your dining out. You know, wins it on when you pull it down when you're going to eat. What do you do with it when you're eating Dian? Woody, What'd you have for us? They're well, This is what this is kind of. Ah, a fairly big debate. And Washington Post field reporter Tim Carmen wrote. It's more he says. That really the mask thing at the restaurant is that you should be Where a lot of people are wearing the mass into the restaurant and then immediately taking it down. So that's pouring. You should wear the mask all the way to your table. Hypothetically, you should keep the mask up until your food is served. And then take the mask down until such time that you're done eating. If you leave the table for some reason you put the mask up. Here's something I hadn't thought of that, he suggested. And that is that if a server comes to your table It is good etiquette to stop and put your mask up to respond to the servant Now, I hadn't thought about that. That makes it does. Yes. Well, I mean, it's it's a little over the top. Maybe you're eating and the server comes by and how's everything. And you're like, Um Oh, you know, you wave at him or something, but if you were to respond to the verbally Then that would be a super etiquette thing to think of putting your mask up for the server there. The other thing is to add that if you leave the table, you have to use the restroom or you seek out a staff or something like that. You should use the mask then. And then, hypothetically when you're done eating until you leave the restaurant You can cut down your exposure by about half eating inside. If you follow those little etiquette rules so most people don't but that's just some some suggested. Idea's tipping at restaurants, Tom now I know you've been doing. You've been doing a lot of of home delivery stuff. Do you tip when when folks leave things on your doorstep in the light? Well, let me clarify when it comes to groceries, I'II cart or whatever. You know, whatever grocery store you go to whatever they call it. Have a release kind of guy, and there's a Sikh art. And, you know, I'm one of the things I discovered is that a union grocery workers will not take care tips, so and occasionally the people that bring your your groceries out are not Full time. Ah, Union folk. There there, you know, Looks like they're just I hired to help but what we did was we buy. We buy gift cards, either in an out burger or a chick fil A or whatever it may be. Ah, and we give those and there doesn't seem to be any problem with taking those And you know people come and go so quickly to my door and drop stuff off whether it's ups or FedEx that I never I never see them. I can't catch them in time to hardly even thank the much loved you. I loved your gift card idea. Here's an idea from that gentleman who wrote this article was leavin envelope. Taped to the door. That just says, you know, um, delivery person course. Somebody could come by in the time after you put it out there, but that would be a way of or please knock for gratuity. Or something to that effect. They He also suggested that even when something is being delivered to you, it may be delivered by somebody who was a server at the restaurant at one point, so it would be appropriate to treat that like a regular meal and to tip Mohr when you pick up things for take out And stuff like that, and we're about to run out of time here so quickly. I wanted to just get a couple of other things in here. This's one etiquette thing you're going to do. We're going to go to a wedding. And the wedding has gotten postponed. The couple has gotten married, but they postpone the celebration. So do you send the present now or you send it later. You answer to? No. Yeah, The answer to the question is you send it now because you may forget later so And if you send it now, you can be assured that when the party is held that you will be getting An invitation. So anyways, just the basics of this was to talk a little bit about servers and restaurants and stuff like that. And how some of the folks who are delivering food and things are actually the people who were serving you. So you might want to think about that fact, if you have a favorite place that you order from, or something like that you can help those folks by by spending a little bit more than you normally would on a takeout gratuity or whether you even gave a takeout gratuity. More travel guys coming up..

"Of the very big issues that are going on, and we're seeing this. Reported every single day, and every news outlet is schools opening in how schools or dealing with the pandemic, and it ranges all the way from their will. On Ly Be online warning. You can kiss goodbye students showing up in a classroom for a while. To screw that we are going to do Ah, classroom in person teaching well right here In California. There is a school Mount ST Mary's Academy, a Catholic school up north. And students returning for the fall session will be Learning in class. And students who do return will go through a whole Siri's of checks and balances temperature Check hand sanitizers questions on their potential as virus vectors. What they're calling it. And so Mount ST Mary's reason it's opening is twofold. First Ball's in Nevada County. It is not on the state's Corona virus Watch list, which makes it easier for the county's a school in those counties. Toe open up. You know, for example, certainly Allah is on the watchlist. 38 out of 58 counties are on there. Also it's a Catholic school. Which gives it much, much more latitude. And Here's the fun one. The superintendent has said that he hopes to reopen the schools in the coming weeks, and he's using plans. To deal with it coming up with plans. He's on his fourth go round of those rules. And he said, Obviously we're learning as we go and debates are raging. But the care that he's taken according to the archdiocese, is the protocols for Mount ST Mary's plan. Run 28 pages. Farm or than the information we're given, and everything that he and the school could ever think of, far more than the state or the federal government committee could even imagine beyond hygiene. Common sense. For example, there will be no outside food at all. I imagine you're going to a movie theater and try to be bringing your own popcorn. That's not going to happen. Ah, open windows. Ah, when it doesn't affect kids with Paul in alle allergies all can't classroom rugs. Are removed. Only kids above the third grade are required to wear masks in the classroom. But the principal ordered neck gators for every kid, so the younger ones are not going to lose it. They don't have to worry about taking the mask on or off. Gone are the five highs or the high fives embraces are done. And here is what they've establishes The fun part. Okay in Ah first graders. I mean, they they're part of. Ah, that list of 28 pages is how teachers deal with first graders. Normally there'll be hugs. At least they'll be high fives. Well, the teacher faces her student from six feet. Been slightly at the waist arms outstretched and wiggles her fingers towards the child. Right. That's the lobster hug. The in second grade. Just giving compliments. Maybe a nomis day, you know, hands pressed together Nomis Day. Kindergarten teacher. One of them is starting her first year and you think about this? I don't believe that we've thought this through, but they've come up with everything. And that is there will be no masks. But there will be shields and the reason they'll be shield. So the kids Can look at and make out the T and the H the the sound and helps you stick your tongue out the and you have to teach kids to do that. This kid's a Russian, and then they have no chance. Kids will be sitting at desks all day long. They will not go outside and then dealing with how to keep them busy. I mean, they're going to try it so Mount ST Mary's looks like is going to be the model. Whether it works or whether it doesn't we're gonna learn from schools like this. And I think that is a great idea. Health illiteracy. What is that? It's not new in America. But the pandemic actually magnifies how important health literacy is, and it has nothing to do with being ability to read or write. It's a lot more than that. This is K f I am 6 40 Live everywhere on the I heart radio app. All right. Jennifer LAPD Officers Union says its members have.

"The same is the phone number 312981 72 100 We won 29817200 as usual. Everybody's got an opinion on our moment of Zen and we heard a lot about the one from Yesterday. I loved your moment of Zen. Music is so relaxing to me. Thank you so much for sharing with us in these dark times. And a suggestion. Get the 1993 album called Rainforest. Control. I'm Joe is in charge of that, Joe. You may want to check that out, okay? This is somebody who obviously doesn't get the moment is in. Bob. Are you trying to get fired? No, not really. As much as I'd like to sleep late. I don't want to come to that. I hate the moment of Zen. I wanna wake up and not go back to sleep. I love the zone moments sometimes. I don't like the music like on Wednesday, but most of the time you have it, right. Um Ah. See here. Bob, So great to have you back on G n Your moment of Zen is a good idea. But sometimes the soothing tone of your voice is more than enough Nomis Day. Thank you for that. Congratulations, Bob. You have graduated from being simply boring to being a bully that I like the music on the moment of Zen Wednesday. No, you know what I didn't do. I didn't say the guy's name and then spend radio time mocking it and reading mean texts from other listeners. The classy thing would've been to just not mention it again. I stopped listening when brand Meyer was on and you have pushed me out again. I will miss Mary, Dave and Steve. But I can't listen anymore. Oh, no. Now we need to hear from one new listener to make up for this person. But you know what I did hear from the person who sent us that that moment of Zen. That was so controversial, David. Yeah, he e mailed us. He wasn't offended. Yeah, listen to this. Thank you for playing my piece. It's all small on your show. I surely appreciate it made my day the pieces decidedly modeled on Japanese Zen meditation music. It's designed to calm the mind in order to live in each moment. Be well. David Hunter. So there you go. He he was okay with a very Zen like responding, right? Yeah, like whatever. I guess he was listening because he was listening to his music. Or maybe he wasn't listening when you have that that could be to, um and then Ah, number of requests here. Along the lines of this message. Can anyone find out the status of the Marquis Network in Comcast? I know you want the Cubs station anymore, but I think a lot of your listeners would like to know. Thank you. Well, Dave found out that they're on right there. They're on. Xfinity and I checked first I confirmed it on my app. My handy dandy app on my phone And then I also just to make double sure, because we don't have it in the building. We have a different system. I called my wife and had her turn on the TV and check and sure enough, it's their channel to 02 Crane Kenney, their president, the business president for the Cubs. Said that the monthly fee is going to be whatever Comcast elects to charge rates. Very based on your geographic location with Comcast. But ultimately it's their decision how much they want to pass through to subscribers, so it's part of the basic package. But something will show up in your bill. I guess right sounds that way. But what doesn't you know? Let us know. Did you notice that some of the players Tossed foul balls to the cardboard fans in the seats. I hope the socks moved the fans around, so everybody gets a chance to be behind home plate. I hope the TV announcers identify some of the fans. Like they did on Wednesday. Well, yeah, they have been, haven't they? I think so. Yeah, we're and we're going to talk to Kristina Rally for the White Sox later this hour. She can hopefully clarify some of that because it's only supposed to be for this weekend. But there are a lot of people who want in on this. Yeah, they sold out and they Yeah, I believe, you know, they need thio. They need Teo. I think Put put the cardboard cut outs in the grandstands and the outfield. Why not? Well, here's the other thing. Now Fox is saying that they're goingto Have a computer generated fans when they do the games, so they will, I guess, pre op the cardboard cut outs because what if it rains, and they have to put their plastic you're on the cardboard. Although these put the cardboard cutouts in in rice like you do in your phone falls in a toilet. Ah, it's Are you speaking from experience? Yeah. Unfortunately. Unfortunately, Ah, there was one more I was going to get to hear. I confined it Well, I'll get to it. I'll get to it on Monday. Somebody was very unhappy with me talking about how I like the look of women in masks. Mary was that offensive? No. Okay. I mean, like, like their eyes. How about that? "Morning. It's 7 39 Are you breathing lately? Having trouble with the mask, and especially if you're Walking fast or if it's hot outside. I still see a lot of people on their bicycle or jogging, and they're not around a lot of people in there. We're in a mask. I don't know that you need to do that. Doctors have studied breathing say that the vast majority of us Do it inadequately. There's new book out. Called Breathe the new science of a lost art. By James Nestor. And he said, how we breathe matters. And our attention to it is long overdue. For example, he said, nose breathing is better than mouth breathing because its protective than those filters heats and treats raw air. Inhaling through the nose stimulates the release of hormones and nitric oxide, which helps to regulate vital functions like blood pressure and an increased oxygenation throughout the body. Breathing done properly keeps the body in acid base balance, which enables tissues to get the amount of oxygen they need to function optimally. This balance is achieved, they say, by main, maintaining an ideal level of carbon dioxide in the blood to Little Co two, which can happen. When your breathing is rapid and shallow, impedes the release of oxygen to body tissues and can cause anxiety, irritability, fatigue and lack of focus. What sounds like me every morning at about five. Anxiety, irritability, fatigue and like a focus, maybes, my breathing. It's a problem. Rapid, shallow breathing, keeps the body in a high state of alert and engages the sympathetic nervous system, an adaptation that is useful in times of danger, but counterproductive to feeling common. Relax the rest of the time. Even during normal times, many people breathe too fast and through their mouths. Perhaps because of chronic stress. Or stuffy noses. Maybe allergies. Want to hear more about this rapid breathing uses neck and chest muscles instead of the diaphragm, which is An inter vacated that the word innovated by the frantic nerve responsible for calming the body like a knife, Fram breathing makes it harder to mentally relax. Okay? No to want to hear any more of this stuff. I don't think so. I think we need a moment of Zen doughy. Too much stress too much anxiety. Too much difficult breathing with your mask. Let's take a moment here. As somebody, said Hoo! Ah wrote us recently. A moment of Zen is ideal for wiggling your toes and stretching your back. Yeah, that and deep breathing recommended here. He's only a couple of miles away from the school, so He thinks that if some of the students find out about the egg rolls, they'll head over there. The Peking House closed a long time ago, and many Chicago customers have been searching for similar Authentic egg rolls with that peanut taste. Some have placed orders or come to visit the DeKalb restaurant and the owner there says many people have come in and talk about how They had those egg rolls and they were kids, and they remembered their parents taking them. To divine Avenue to the Peking house when they were little, and they want them. The egg rolls are made with more peanut butter than traditional egg rolls, and they use an apricot based sauce.
