"Wanna talk it over with the all star third baseman nolan. Arnaldo on the kilcoyne conversation. I know you've been an all star before. I'm just curious this year. I season saint. Louis did you. I wouldn't say pressure but did you feel any kind of desire to perform well at this level being new this year in saint louis Yeah i would say a little bit. I wouldn't say pressure just more wanting to get back to playing the way. I know i can especially after the twenty twenty season With being injured and just not performing very well With that being said in new team knew everything so you know it can be a little different in you know. It's an adjustment regardless if you know if it's a big adjustment or small it's still an adjustment something different you know. I've been doing something. I've been doing the same thing for eight years. And then all of a sudden guide to a totally different thing you know so it was. There's an adjustment. I'm definitely used to it now. And i love every part of it but It's been really good kind of crazy on worked up to an all star which is nothing new but it happens to be at coors field will be fun for you. Yeah it'll be fun. I mean it'll be interesting. You know we just got. We just went there. We just played them so it was a pretty exciting agassi. Lot of motion and You know just kind of a log on and It was a lot of fun but It will be cool. It'd be great to go back. You know i love colorado so to spend a few more days there will be really great and you said going into that night on thursday. You know there might be boozed or where did you really think there'd be of and it was. It was pretty much a love fest and even when you left your any fans view. Were you really curious going into that first game. Yeah i was a little curious. I figured you know. I was hopeful. I figured there'd be more applause than Than booze but there are still some booze but not as many which was great but You know i you know you just never know when you're going in that situation you know you just sometimes you think they you'd think about what happened recently but it was good to know that they remember what's happened in the past and when you leave coors he were immediately going to say well. Let's see what numbers look. Like larry walker talked about it and holidays talked about it and you heard that your whole career people wondering who would you be doing. Yeah i've heard that whole career You know it's just something you have to deal with being a rockies player on leaving and it comes with the territory i guess but I mean it's not easy playing colorado. I think people sometimes think it's just such a great place to hit and you're gonna hate regardless but which it is hit but you know the physical toll the games..

"Us to check in. With our Hall of Fame baseball writer and Rockies insider Tracy Wrinkles be of inside the seams dot com Tracy Always great to have you. Thank you. Well, it's great to be here. Let's first talk about the return of Nolan Ah, Renato, regardless of how things ended. The fact of the matter is Nolan did amazing things with the Rockies. And while it's different to see him here with the Cardinals There's no denying what he accomplished in purple is there? No, I mean, here's a fan favorite. He played hard every day. He played his heart earlier I've ever seen day in and day out. A little bit different personality, But you know, all of us have a little bit different personality, right? We're not all the same, but I think he, uh, he gave Iraqis everything that could possibly give him when he was here, and he reached the point where he wanted to move on. Um, it's not the first guy on earth that did it, And so the Rockies accommodated him, and then they deal with ST Louis. Do they get everything they wanted to return? No. When a player has a no trade, cause he's going to have control. Over where he goes, and you know, I think with Gamber alone they did fairly well and they got a pretty good starting pitcher right there. But, you know, I think it's great to see the fans welcome him back.

I feel like it gave fans something to cheer for. I wasn't miserable. Twenty twenty was just a tough year in general being heard and just frustrating. There's nolan talking about it. I mean he's pretty politically correct. Saying all the right things. I think there was a couple of notes to even longer and longer press coverage where he had mentioned. You know the media cada spun a few things you know. He didn't really. I mean he. He did talk to the media. He was kind of short. He was sure. I didn't think the media spun much of that. I didn't think they really report on a lot of what nolan had to say. You also said he was a big fan of our pool hosts and was hoping he would get back. So i was like okay sometimes. Sometimes colefax just got a stick with your guy the thing is like when people talk tad boyle having pressure on him with tad boyle right now every year. You feel like you've got a shot to go to the big dance every year. You feel like a legitimate contender in the pac. Twelve for for c. You does it get much better than that. I don't think so for most schools. Get much better than that. Every year i know the dukes of the world and so many great basketball syracuse. Like all those teams. They're thinking about their thinking about championships. They're thinking about winning. Titles okay. that was a rare. There's a few of those teams every year. That just feel it. Feels like they could baylor's those teams are there's a few of them but Who who's gonna be the next guy. I mean aside from the top five ten coaches in college basketball. Who who would you pick better than than what you got in tad boyle so the recruit brings in the guys that he turns into superstars. Go on to the nba. I mean mckinley writes next. He'll be he'll be probably a first rounder next year so to me. It's like you're not going to get much better at this stage so you might as well just keep blowing it up. You're at i agree. Mark says that you're in the golden age of cu basketball. You're the big news of the day. Was the fact that the unc bears men's basketball team. "To be particularly aggressive in the office in the trade route, and I hope that they are and I don't know we all know that the Border thing it's an issue until it's not right. It it just customs in general or whatnot would we stay home? Know where the Blue Jays are going to play. Is it going to be Buffalo? Okay. Well, I'm going to be Buffalo. Is there going to be minor league baseball? There's a whole Litany of thing. But right now they're best possible route of success is the trade Route 82 cents. Yeah. No, I agree and I do expect that to I mean in addition to Arenado. I think it was Tom verducci who put out a piece or contributed to a piece of bold predictions that even Trevor story could be had at the right price again, it's a bold prediction but no players Untouchable for the right press and man. If you could had a guy like Trevor story is less guaranteed money than Nolan Arenado does over the next few years. I would pay a lot to get Trevor story if it is normal Arenado, and I know we discussed this on our pod. Well, we did the Nolan Arenado trade talked, but if you take all that money and the Rockies get Little Help from the Blue Jays and covering some of that salary you have to throw in trim on Marquez the starter wage. Because that is exactly who the if it's the mold of what they're looking for a guy who's young? I think he's twenty-six or twenty-seven you still under Club control for the next few years and he's a Nace level sure. I just you go. I think he had 250 or 260 strikeouts in a little over two hundred Innings strikeout machine. So I do think they'll get very creative at a drought and I texted you gave us on Sunday when I got a D M from one of the guys on Twitter. I'm not going to say if it's real or whatever it is. I kind of believe him. He said that the Blue Jays are going to be aggressive as what he says and that is at the top of their list. Pitch to Nolan is a fly ball to right field bets makes the catch story tag. Here comes the throw to the plate. It is not in time. Nolan Arenado delivers a sacrifice fly and Iraqis have tied the game to no one did the job would rather have had the base hit for sure, but he got the runnin on a productive out bets again knows what kind of base runner Trevor Story is. And then the ball hits the mound takes all the pay sound of the throw. Nolan gets his 16th that make it his 17th R B. I And Iraqis have tied things up with two outs here in the sixth. Daniel Murphy will take a strike from Graterol at 100 Miles an hour. Murph as one of the Rockies, three hits, singled. To left center field, his last time up, grounded to second in his first at bat. "But one talk to you a little bit about your pride each and what happened today down Salt River that pitchers and catchers reporting all very exciting Rockies is there another first spring training game on the twenty second organ of course be carrying the games it was we are the flagship and it is exciting hope springs eternal every single for a every single team even teams in the midst of a time of turmoil like the Houston Astros there everybody's excited and and in the Rockies have so it's a mother challenges but right now the overwhelming stories about known are not like that that is that is the story and so if you ask anybody about the Rockies it's what's going on with the lawn what are the old patch this thing up and so far we've really only heard Nolan side we know that there are there do there been some warmer porch back and forth there's been some reported trade interests of the Rockies have listened to trades but Jeff price really hasn't spoken publicly about this I'm not really so he had an opportunity today in and as I understand it it was kind of cleared by PR like PR was going to what we had kind of line this supplications gonna say something about it he told the assembled media and then it just price was kind of put in front of him to say something and and this is kind of how it went down use it to you would speak to us briefly about the Nolan situation so we thought we to start off with that of the top so from your perspective what would you just like to say about what's been out there publicly about nothing revision comment made any comment to this point so in the past thanks six question okay so as you heard there said Warren who of course works PR for the Rockies he he kind of put it right out there saying Hey guys he's gonna have something to say about this and then his comment was no comments and I have nothing to add to this and next question it's always a Patrick Saunders ended up being the guy and he's he does a phenomenal job with post and and and and you know he he was just the kind of guy that had to ask the question somebody's got as good hi I have a few thoughts in this band but first I'd like to kind of get your your perspective on what what went down there and Jeff prices decision not to say anything I I I I I feel like the Rockies need to say something beyond what's been said because right now in the public domain the only story that exists is now it is our not as version and with any story there's three sides to it his hers in the truce it's so I'd I'd like the Rockies to have some kind of public comment on it and I ages feels like passing on commenting right now with the no comment I really feel like that's the wrong way to tackle this one I that's not how I would do it I understand it I I I may have to catch my language I may have to in a press conference environments that insider specifics I won't get into but there has been some animosity here obviously Nolan felt disrespected me went out of his way to say that and we we've got a bridge to cross but you should put something out there that says something other than no comment you don't even have to give any real details you say it the way I just said it was just a present anything new you'll have to you'll have to give specific short with new information out there you can rehash what's already out there but and and and couch it in that regard and people take that quote it be okay with this it's P. R. speak writes exactly is what people do yeah we we expected that like we we don't we don't have it we're we're the home of the Rockies in the home of the of the Broncos here so when I say this I want you to understand that I'm saying that you know a week we get all the jokes about the state sponsored radio a kind of stuff from competitors around town that can't afford to carry the broadcast rights but what we are the flagship of both and I'm criticizing one the Broncos face he sings had all they do and that's one of things you do have to give consideration like you heard at the very beginning say Hey Warren said that you're going to say something if Patrick Smyth says we're gonna say something about this they do it and and they got a player out there that's right talk about a player with a manual in Cortland yeah the physical altercation camp and then they were out there come by on it up the next day with jokes they were obviously still matter Locke believes you knew what was coming the Broncos do a great job and I don't see here Kerry orange blue cool aid or whatever it is that they say but you get the point the juxtaposition between the way these two organizations handle negative things is glaring and this was an opportunity and I think the way you pointed out is is absolutely fair there's an opportunity here for Jeff bright H. as bad as well as a bit of a conduit to the fans like it in the end he has to do remember he is a public face sorry for the Rockies leave a voice he's out there to talk to the media and to tell them everything's gonna be okay like tell the fans Hey listen I know there's a lot of things out there we're focused on the season no one are not I was going to be here we're ready we're ready to play baseball that dad right we're excited about a softball and what will work out that's that that would have been a completely appropriate when you do it like that it's also Jeff price thought if I say no comment then this will die like it'll be the end of infected actually makes it much more as a lien on the fire especially his body language if you watch the video it's a combination I I tend to not like do a lot of body language thing at the blood that becomes kind of over blown but in this case like the combination of no comment like he looked sour about even being asked about it when the media was just doing their job personal to have to ask well it's eight ever leaders of anything Ryan nine days ever there's that side of it too but but but more than anything with with with pride H. he is he kind of forgot something here in my opinion he forgot what he what the fans are desperately wanting to hear about their star player that he is the face of the organization of the conduit for the organization and that shouldn't ever really like that should never go away from the forefront of your mind we're out there speaking when you're speaking for you you're speaking for the organization you're speaking to the media who are going to go talk to the fans and the fans just wanted to know he's everything a be okay because no one are those were my favorite players of all time and I want to watch in this year and I want to know that we're trying to contended do something and instead I get no comment and for me like like what did you think was going to be solved by doing that saying no comment is different than not having a comment at the not saying anything at all yeah it was it was a little bit confusing all right really is a little confused by that played today because it's it's certainly not going away was going to go away anyways but now it's a bit was is a bigger story yeah it's the price seems absurd misconceptions about the media yeah I was almost almost in a battle with the media he is the conduit information between the organization of fans you can't have eighty five thousand fans come flood a press conference a locker so you have some assembled media commits the pool you know they come in and they do it they get those quotes information package about put him in a in an article or sound bite and they presented to the fans at large that's the media's job just to relay the information just to take the facts from here because you can only fit twenty people in this room and then turn around disseminated to the fans ask the questions instead of the fans it's where your representative democracy you know what we are reps here and so the the idea that the media is the enemy for bright is it's just it's a wall you know it is hardly the first GM to do it like that very point but he's but he's not helping himself and you think of the modern age people be savvy enough to understand Hey you guys are just taking the stuff the fans what I need to do is just repackaged all the information is already here and a friend will sell by two gets buried in the third paragraph of the calm they're going to write instead of saying no comment getting a brand new title at the top of the column the twenties guys gonna write and that's exactly the right has nothing to say which says everything in it of it you know it and I I got the headlines right themselves and adds more fuel to the fire exactly that died there's a disconnect between our not all the star player this team that they just gave an extension to and the front office which again now adds more conversation and call links to the winds are gonna be traded when when the Rockies gonna what we are and then on top of that now for said this earlier today I want to give him some credit he said it also I'll other thing I want to say he said this but it's something to the effect of that that that is also maybe even weaken your position a little bit as it relates to trade value because now it shows very publicly that there is a disconnect yeah there's a rift you know we don't know all that there was a rift in we knew because we heard it we we saw what era said but we did have a knowledge within the organization so you could have skewed the grout the chasm there the open space was misunderstanding that's not

"Is big Jo Jo well the noise has been pretty loud if you're a Colorado Rockies fan with what's happened with Nolan arenado Brady turns out Jen a managing the rocky saying trade talk is offer Nolan Ben Nolin speaks and obviously Nolan not very happy about how everything has transpired so far as saying he's been disrespected Thomas Harding by the way from M. L. B. dot com who broke some of the I or not comments can be joining is coming up at three forty four be listening for that but our poll question for today we'll Nolan arenado be on the Rockies opening day roster yes or no what do you think big al I say no what I say no because that's what's supposed to happen you know when a player says he wants out is your duty and your obligation to get him out so unless you want it unless you want a disgruntled athlete who could be responsible for ruining your locker room get him out of there wow you know I mean apparently yeah I can't wait to talk to Tom was men like you said he broke the story but now just reading through the comments earlier today you know there are a lot of things that are moving about this organization that what that Nolan thought was gonna happen that didn't happen that may have triggered a an emotional response from him and I don't think that's going to stop you know you know the one thing that I do remember about no and are not and his conversations over the years was a striking thing that he say it about Todd Helton he said that he did not want to be the Todd Helton the next Todd Helton for the Colorado Rockies meaning a great player that stuck here and got paid a fair sum of money to be the first baseman here but never really I had overall success as a teen yeah we have some moments absolutely where we had a a playoff runs but in general I just remember known are not saying that he did not want to do that it feels like it leads to me from his viewpoint it feels like we're going back to just that you might be right to Iran one of the early results of the poll question fifty six percent agree with Alfred and they think that knowing or not it will not be on the Rockies open roster forty four percent say yes oh my god that is catastrophe vote on our Twitter V. K. we Colorado on Twitter or text line of five six six nine now castrati joke out of town a joke all the time about this but I'm gonna say it until something different happens doesn't matter if Nolan are not all is on this team on that Colorado Rockies fans are going to go to the game because that's what we do the weather is nice we got to go to the ballpark we want to see a winner but if the winners don't show up we're still going we're still going to the games because it is a beautiful environment in in the middle of the summer when every place else is is done for you can still enjoy a night game out there with a light sweater and have a great time at the Rockies game and so I I I mean this is just got upset that but I've I've I've listened dodo I've set this war on air for well over fifteen years and I've been right every single year about this it's still going to be sold out on opening day whether or not he's on the roster will adjust to the new player is gonna be in those positions and away we go hi let's get to our top training stories and obviously the Superbowl is top of mine around America they're saying Superbowl tickets could be the most expensive in history when the kids city chiefs play the San Francisco forty Niners and Miami ticket resale prices on seats geek who even knew there was a C. Rockies' Arenado feels disrespected over trade rumors

"Hour I do want to mention this real quick both the error not rumors and the Montana wrapping two teams both of those got a lot of votes as well and so I want to mention this real quick about it Nolan arenado is now upset publicly feeling disrespected by the Rockies organization for potentially including him in in trade talks justice a very short time after signing such a massive extension we know our minds go immediately to what do you have to do to get your hands on this guy because if they are not as upset even Jeff passengers rollers short time ago this could get real ugly and start to feel like the Stanton situation that lowers the value it means a player may be able to say oh no you're trading me there you're treating me right there you don't get to just talk to everybody your trading me there so I would think that anybody inside the NL west would be the last last last teams that the Rockies would talk to but who knows where this ends up at our good friend Ahmed free just wait it out like what would you give up and I just wrote back but I don't know how's everything sound I mean honestly to get a player like that at a position like that from the giants you do absolutely anything you can't even though again the last in the Rockies would talk to and they're probably the last team right now that wants to get into paying a player that

"And he puts up a monster season in call it San Francisco would you have the same season in DC? We don't know what we do know is that he's been wildly inconsistent year to year. But if you take Bryce Hopper's monster MVP season that he had in what was it twenty fifteen and you put that on the nationals, which he's still he's not even entered his prime years yet. That's what's so crazy about Bryce hopper is. Yeah, we can analyze what he's done. But we don't know what he's about to do. We still don't know. He's about to do. So it's it's hard to answer. That question. Our the nationals a better team next year without Bryce Harper. They have the potential to be. But does that mean that it's price Harper's fault? No. I mean, I still think if they can still be better than they were last year. But I think that might have a lot to do with adding Patrick Corbin. I think you kind of took the words out of my mouth there. I think I think it might have more to do with. Yeah. With another arm and that rotation. Reinforcements in the bullpen. And I said it very early on man. Not a knock on Bryce. But I think that one Soto can be more than enough for you to forget about rice Harper, or at least be okay with not having Bryce Harper at the very minimum. That's what I truly truly believe that I truly believe that either way. They're in good shape. Yeah. And no Bryce Harper is. Now, the reason why the first round exits. No, that's not no mask hunter Strickland. If he's the reason why. We we've been on a little bit of a fuck Mary kill run on these podcasts. We have our latest version of that. This features real humans. David Ortiz prince fielder, Vlad Guerrero. Oh god. Can we even do that? Yes. Well, yeah. If you interpret the question is not actually fucking marrying or killing them. But. I don't like to sit Idi of my brethren out to the pasture. That's all well be like signed him to a lifetime contract signed him to a one year deal or release them be man. Think of it that way. That's what the questions really asked reminds obvious. I'm signing. David Ortiz to a lifetime contract. I'm giving Blatty the one year deal number releasing prince fielder, and I love prince field there. But I just like Blatty better. And David Ortiz. Yeah. I mean, that's I'm actually I'm I'm I'm signing Vlad to the lifetime, Johnny. Yeah. You're I think I'm with Alice on that signing blacks at the lifetime, Johnny poppy, you and me every year, buddy, you and me every year and prince nothing personal. But as captain of the all fragile team. I understand I understand what it means when someone doesn't deliver. And you my friend delivered on a far far greater skill than a lot of people who would ever be considered to have not lived up to their you had a mountain of expectations. And as far as I'm concerned, you did the damn thing you were just cut short you were cut short, and that's the fucking crime here to have to send a guy out to pasture because his bucking career was cut short. I resent both of you for making me play this game right over a six-year period. From two thousand seven to two thousand twelve six season period. Prince's average year was thirty eight.

"He can still pitch with ninety ninety one because he locates, but there is sort of that whole, you know, he's had the epidermal. He's had the back problems. This is not an isolated incident. Terms of injuries. But to Dallas is point. Guys sort of feeling fatigued and spring training. It's like Tommy, John, John. It's like no that shit happens. Especially to veteran guys with a lot of miles on them. And he has a shit tone of miles on them. No. He does. He absolutely does. What what I think? We hope doesn't happen is he just sort of becomes a ghost in that dodger rotation. I hope that's Felix. Yeah. Yeah. Because because you want them. I mean, do it buck, man. It kills me. It kills me to think that like I'm not think that I know I'm not going to see the Felix that I grew up competing against that. I grew up watching, you know, like, that's I'm not gonna have that. I'm not going to see that. I know what that was like I saw it firsthand. And that was just incredible. And I wanna see that like I don't want to see link Kershaw not be Clayton Kershaw, it sucks. But I think at some point in time we have. Start. You know, we have to start being real with ourselves. Yeah. Yeah. And I mean, again, if there are any guy of of the top pitchers in baseball who are the guys that you have the utmost confidence in that. When they lose their velocity. You still have confidence in them to be a frontline starter. Like, this guy can still pitch. I think you know, what man as all be all be honest when I say this. I don't know that that is easily. I don't know that that's easily analyzed without having a feel for the individual's capacity willingness to learn because you think about a guy like CCC bath you who. And I'm not gonna say it was just out stuffing people for the better part of his career. But for a long time CC was just fucking way better than you better than you. And he could compete in the strike zone. Aaron Lee at times he could compete in the strike zone. And he didn't have that ability five years ago. Now, he doesn't he hasn't had that ability and he has missed all right nowhere near what the dominancy looked like. But his capacity is ability to learn the two seamer star turned should over a little bit. That's bought him years, man. That's bought him years. And I don't know that if unless you know, who CC is I don't know that you thought that was going to be the case. He's not dead. So I think I know what our answer is here. But I just wanted to answer the question because I wanted this person to know what the answer is. Hey, guys listener from the very first pod and a huge fan freesheet. You we do appreciate you. My question with how the nationals have reshaped their rotation and roster this off season are they possibly a better team without Bryce Harper. And if they make it past the first round of the postseason would he be to blame for their previous shortcomings? Appreciate all you guys. Do. So two part question. Obviously, I think with the first part of the question. It depends on what type of Bryce Harper you're gonna get. 'cause I mean, if he signs a free agent deal..

"I can't believe it. I'm not calling on command. I'm just saying if Manfred calls me jured honesty's the best policy. Yeah. Yeah. It's. It was tampering. But I mean, I would if Nolan are not oh up with the Red Sox in three years, and I'm in prison, fine, whatever. Yeah. Nights EV's in there. All let your com Syria. Yeah. Yeah. Why not buns main takeaways Dallas? Main takeaways is I think I think this now kind of speeds up the process for Harper. I think I think we may have a Bryce Harper signing by the end of the week. I think we may have a Bryce Harper signing by the end of the week. All right. We don't have this on the docket. But as of today, we're recording this on Tuesday. The latest was that the the Vegas odds. Now have the dodgers as the favourite Selanne Bryce Harper did not see them reemerging. I thought this was going to be a two team race between the Phillies and the giants when the dodgers moved Wiegand camp. And they I mean, they didn't free up. Kind of space go get Harper. But it was we freed up positions to do. They will they they actually cleared a total cap space of seven million dollars. All of that movement. Cleared up seven million dollars. Yeah. They free up the position for Bryce Harper. So you kind of expected Bryce Harper to be following. But then, you know, the giants get involved even the Padres. Hey, what's up? You know? It's it's been long enough. Let's just do the dodgers just lay out here sell lecture Vegas. Odds are pumping it up. I understand Bryce Harper's a guy that you don't wanna miss out on. But. Who who might trial? That's might droughts going to be a free agent a couple years. Yeah. And the angels are already I believe they're kicking around the idea of moving to Long Beach. That's been proposed crazy. I think some stability could be something that might trout looks for. And if it's LA that is home, and it's LA wants to stay the dodgers. The dodgers could go barking up that tree. Yeah. Could. And by the way, are either of you convinced that the dodgers the team that ends up at Bryce Harper 'cause I'm not I'm not I'm not convinced of anything anymore. I I was I said the dodgers early on because for me, it was a no brainer in terms of marketing. And what he I think could become and does want to become outside of the baseball field away from the baseball field. Because I think I think there's I think he's got that in him. He wants the limelight. I think he wants to enjoy being dude that people can get on board with because he's got more blue collar to him than I think he's been kind of given credit for he's been dubbed as spoiled as Brad at times when he was early on in his career because he was making young kid mistakes. But he's a fucking superstar growing up in the big leagues. Like there's been like three people that have done that like for fuck sake..

"I this is the loudest I've ever been. And then it was in Boston just playing in Boston and seeing the green monster be in like just being there. And I was like I can't believe I'm here. Go did you go into the monster? I did I went in there. I signed a San Ted Williams. Big Homer out there out there. Coming up a lot. Do you think he actually hit it? Do that's for man. I don't know straight up. I'd call them a liar. Bullshit. I mean people from back in the day always say that the would we get now his way better than what they had in this and that and or guys nowadays. Right. So I don't know. "I always do my homework on what I'm gonna do like who am I gonna face and all those things, but at the same time, I try not to buy into too much. I I like to trust myself. I I mean when these guys doing that hard you all you can do is trust. What you right? So you know, I go up there. And I try to have a plan, and I'm trying to get the ball up and hit hard, and that's all I'm focusing. How are you utilizing measurements technology? Things of that nature stuff. Some of the stuff you just touched on on the pitcher side. How are you using some of these newfangled instruments to better yourself? Are you using them are you implementing them when they talk about? Because the first word that comes out of a lot of people's mouths to a hitter asking this is launch angle. But that's just a word. And if you don't understand what you're asking. I feel like you end up sounding like a dumb ass asking. So what are you doing to try to assess an analyze yourself with the technology that is starting to make its way into the game. And do you find value in it for yourself? Yeah. Absolutely. You know, I think I like to watch like I do a lot of video on my side. My swing on the sides like watch every every couple of days. I try to do it. You know? I try not to do it everyday personally for me. I just I don't wanna get caught into tinkering this and this and that because if I feel good I feel good, right? You've got to trust it like I like what I feel, but I'm definitely paying attention to little things. Now, more than I ever have. I think it's something to keep away because I've gone last year I've gone through some big slump. And you know, you have video of your swings. And that's what I try to focus on. But it's just a good. Keep like on it. You know, I heard you AD Mookie pass these guys do it every day. And look what they're doing. You know? So I'm like, man, if those I mean, these guys are hitting this level, and I wanna get I wanna be like that too. So I'm learning, you know, I'm trying to adapt to different things. But at the same time being myself while I'm doing it owns a freak. Yeah. He's amazing. He records his BP. What he he watches tape on? Yeah. I've heard that in and I love that. And I don't know if I could do it every day because it's not me. But I definitely got to do it a little bit once in a while now because I really got make sure and focus on these little things that you know, these little things become big things. What is your favorite defensive drill to prepare yourself for the game? Because in your routine, you have x y and z these things need to be hit grumbles to the left grumbles to the right throws on the run coming in and charging balls bare hand plays. And then you're probably done whatever it may be. This is something that no. No one has to do and Nolan does every day out in the field before the game. Yeah. What is that? Because little kids. Listen to the. Trying to go ply them to sure. Well, I take rambles on the back of the grass okay to start. I like to like throw across the from there. I feel like when I do it from there. And I go in the game. I'm not throwing from the back in the middle. And it's it feels like it's super easy. I don't have to like put so much on it because I've been working on it from back there all day earlier. So it's just kind of like just fling it over there. Now, that's my job. That's what I like to do. I do twenty at me. And then I'm, you know, side five five five at the Ryan. Then I go double plays right on me. Again, forehand backhand. You know? I go back to the back. And then I just home that's hard as. Let me just remind myself that hey, don't, you know?.

"Loudest place I've ever been in in my life still to this day and right after that game in the weight room getting after it working hard finding a way to get better the next day. Like, I don't know. I just had mired that you know, because a lot of guys I want to just get out of lock go home. He was still getting after it. And that's just something I admire what was what was it like to play under Jim Leyland awesome. I mean, he was my manager for what two and a half weeks whatever and he's like going. He's he's already going down as one of the best, man. He was intense. And you know, just he gave he gave them some speeches to us that like just I mean, got your blood flow. And it was like water was he was he was getting teary eyed talking to us, and that was just he was just his fire and his energy. And he was it was awesome. And I don't want to bring this up in a negative light. But there was there was issues with guys, you know, they're roster availability, you know, they wanted to be there couldn't be there or whatever. And he just feel that from him. Like, you know, he was already like auto wanted stoops's guys at be her and it's like yo- Jimmy. Yeah. I was a speech that was the streets. On that team wanted to be there minute of every day. And while that's not possible. It was good to see Jimmy because he's dude in you already. You you. Yeah. And he's school, you know. And I think it's he's he has that old school mentality. And you know, you know, how it is. It's just different. You know, I think with the way people McManus now it's different than with how they were back in the day. So he was really connected to us. You know in the locker room with us talking to come into the film or stretching just cool stuff. Like that was just for like two weeks. He's not coming back for anything else. In america. Right. That's right. Earlier. I said, you're you're a bona fide superstar does it irritate you. When people try to take away from that. Because the chorus field affect I think a little bit. But at times, I I don't even care anymore. Man. You know, I think I've heard it for a while now. And you know, I don't know what to tell you. I think people like I said I've said this before people to understand is going on the road after you play at home is the movement is it's just a lot more drastic. And it makes it harder to hit on the road. There's no question that I struggled on the road last year, which I didn't like but the year before I played really well. And you know, it's just it's just part of it. I think cycles Mansi baseball is just like that. But you listen, I play course, a great place hit there. There's no question about it. And I love it, man. I love when I hit balls that go out that should go out. And I don't like going to San Fran when I hit those should go out and the. Exactly. So what's what's what's the most interesting conversation that you've had with an opposing player standing at their base when they're on the back. Man, change or anything like that. No. I don't know. You know, I I've had some interesting ones. But for the most part, nothing crazy. I think Jason worth was pretty funny. He was always just making noises and stuff and stuff. But I was in Meyer that he was always really cool to me. But honestly, joy bottles. Awesome. Talking about the game hitting like that one day. He was asking me about how I dive. And my man, I don't know. I just dive I loved the way dive. And I'm like, I say about it. Thanks, man. But you know, he's he's awesome. Honestly, I try to I try not to talk to a lot of people. Right. But there's guys I have to pick their brain Bado. You know, I don't know who else prince Villers been over there. I want to pick their brain about hitting right? I wanna ask you about young kid that I'm getting to know on a personal level as well as a player level..

"And he's echoed the same things you you have said just now. So I like to hear that is that where this game is going is that the best way to handle some of these kids that are coming up now that have done the travel ball cycle that they know only one speed all baseball all the time. Is that the way to sort of go about that? I think there's certain guys, you know, it's I think it all starts getting to know someone, you know, if you don't know how the guy is then, you know, then you're not going how to react to them how to treat them. But I think at the same time you've got to have tough love with some of them, which we have a group veterans that do that. You know what I mean? But there's a time to bring him in and be like man, we need. You. Let's go let's clean this up and stuff like that. And I think it helps us out. I mean, we have some young guys on our team that have really stepped up really good job because they feel comfortable talking to us in like playing their game. They don't feel like they gotta like got perform these guys aren't talking to exactly. Yes. You're we're just talking to you. Now, you're pretty calm guy. You've had some tense moments. Yes. Yeah. The the walk off with the blood on the face that charge in the Mau, where do you sort of told me that picture? Hey in your house. Balkan maniacal. Three hundred. When when do you find that? It's most useful. Because here's a question that I've been meaning to ask a lot of a lot of guys that I haven't asked walk up music. Some guys want that intense shit some guys won't like the country music relax going up to the plate. Like where are you on that? I'm on a play Travis Scott my walk out for years and just bombs. It's lousy. Yeah. That's what I need. I need I need intensity. I think when the game starts that's kinda. Hi, I'm kind of intense. And I don't know. I just gotta turn. You gotta be a different person, you know. And I try to be that way on the field. But definitely you know when I'm away from the field. I try to just be normal. Enjoy my life. You know, enjoy hanging out with people, but the game starts. You have to be a different person. Yeah. Travis Scott bumping off the field as well. So it is. Okay. What is what is keeping you? Because I know you go through spring training. And there's things that you gotta do to keep yourself. Ok keep yourself healthy. But you're still transitioning back into that everyday flow that you're going to have coming. Find yourself in the middle of the season. Maybe there's an effort to get away from the game during an off air whatever how does Nolan or not oh get away from the game. And relax if that's the thing. Yeah. I think I try to. I golf once in a while. I try not to do it during the season during the season..

"What go back to starting nine episode eighty eighty well because on that hun do well, by the way, creeping. Max heater right now. Eighty got some word on the street. I don't know if Rosenthal put it out there yet. Rumors swore around right now that starting nine might have two week during the season. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know anything about that sources. I'm just I'm just telling you what I saw on read it. Around on Twitter feed the grounds crew just might be something that happens during the regular season. So I'm just saying that might accelerate the process to get to one hundred yards. And if we do not if we do when we do get to one hundred we gotta do something special for that a blowout. Maybe we try to get everybody that throws one hundred dollars. That's probably not going to happen. No, one do throws one hundred miles an hour to do the podcast. So like, Jordan Hicks. I would love it. It's like one oh five gonna wait for one hour. We. Yeah. I think he's one of the guys that were supposed to be getting down Florida. So this is our this is our week off. We did a week in Arizona. We got a week and our respective domiciles. And then a week down in Florida with list of names, a juicy list of names. Than the list of names is going to be the miles traveled godforsaken state of Florida. Yeah. And I mean, you know, obviously, the we got a bad week weatherwise in Arizona. But everything else lived up to the hype everything the Dallas talked about we after week about Arizona spring training lived up to the hype. And I'm almost seeing it in reverse. I think if we had gone to Florida I and this is fucking miserable. In terms of you know, the distance between camps, and then we would have done Arizona after this is so much better. It's almost like I saw our Zona saw great. It was. So how convenient was? But then we sort of talked to players they were like yet, you spring Chang and Florida it's a bad time snag as I told.

Nolan Arenado, Colorado Rockies agree to $26 million, 1-year deal

"Nolan Arnaldo and the Rockies have settled on a one year contract as what it is usual. When you go into arbitration. Ken Rosenthal reports are not as one year twenty six million dollar deal with the Rockies is a record for player through the arbitration process. If you remember the Rockies came in at twenty four which would have also been a record one year arbitration deal are not a wanted thirty million dollars. They settle on twenty six as what usually happens. You split. The difference in everyone goes home. That's that's significant and. While it sure doesn't seem like the Rockies have any aces up their sleeve in terms of recruiting Bryce Harper or landing, you know, they're still alive. Dallas kaikal hasn't been signed. Like, it doesn't seem like the Rockies are saving their money to go. After one of these marquee free agents that are still on the market. But I wonder what this means for Nolan are nano he said when he asked for thirty million dollars that it was what all athletes eight is business. It is a business. And you just heard Ryan leaf say the NFL is a business, but at the same time Nolan has no no other organization than the Rockies. You would want him. I think to be a little less cold and calculating, maybe that's too pollyannaish for the rock from the Rockies perspective. But is he going to be that rigid with the Rockies when they tried to negotiate a long-term deal during or after this year, the Rockies can't play around with this? I said this the other day. They can't risk losing Nolan for nothing. And for those who think that this thing's going to drag out till the end of September. No, it's not it has to be settled by July thirty one or they have to have a strong indication one way or another because they gotta get something for them. Or it's going to set this franchise back five years, and I'm not being I I'm not trying to be alarmist. And I don't think I'm being over the top. That's how important Nolan are not always you could talk about Trevor story and Charlie Blackmon those guys come and go they go up and down Nolan is the guy. He's the face of the franchise. He's their best player. He's the most steady and efficient. Hitter that they have. To me. They can't they can't hang onto him hoping that a whole year convinces them. They gotta try to convince them and a half a year or else they're going to be in a really tough spot. Well, and I'd say now that they've taken care of the whole arbitration thing and avoided that started now, right? Are working on a long term deal. Now. And look I would like to Rockies I mentioned this earlier in the show. The Padres are going to meet with Bryce Harper. I would love for Jeff rise to do that. To but to me. Jeff bridage. Should sit down right now. And all he should do. It's figuring out how he can convince Nolan are not to stay. Because that is the top priority and say what you will about when the Rockies traded Larry Walker or Baldo Jimenez, or any of these others. This will be the Troy to Lewinsky, even this will be bigger than any of those and more detrimental to the Rockies. If they don't handle this correctly. So I say all the time you have time to do other things, Jeff. But this has got to be your focus when you wake up in the morning. And when you go to bed at night figuring out. How to convince Nolan are Nado to stay in purple
