"Leaving somebody out toronto as well. Yeah i think maybe based on the biggest amount of production coming back might actually be the astros at the moment but if it goes right for that team the dodgers are gonna think they're the biggest winner because they got the two dudes that are you know all star players don't you you. They're like socks. Great there yeah. The drinks did white sox got better too. Yeah i haven't even seen on yet but I mean you just you just add it to something of a team that is going to be in the play. Offs is a is a world series roster and you added a guy who didn't even have to move. You got it right there. You can take care of attending so far getting there. You add two point four seven. Yep so you added to. I mean i don't know how just the mean even if it was that one body that one body matter you know they the you know by getting eloy back and healthy over the last couple of weeks there you have to consider. It seems to me you know you. Add a power bat tampa. Even though he's eighty one you start to look around at teams that are world series potential teams most of them got better dodgers at least on the surface dodgers giants. White sox astros blue jays tampa. I mean you look around did they. They weren't willing to sit around and let somebody else do all the work. All these teams decided we may be good. But we still gotta do more. And i don't see how you can't consider the astros as part of it but man max scherzer at the front guys had had mac. Sir i've been here or chris fryatt considering the roster and getting alex bregman healthy you could. You could have said to you. It would flip to here in even without those guys use still have a team that by their bullpen helped to ask was that's not homer stuff. It's just fact. Just take a look at the results so far which they what they've yielded and what they're doing now. It's pretty impressive the ads. B unimpressive in expect- expectations will be continue the trend that they've been on which has been deck tastic. Yup i'm i'm really and i'm also anxious in american league to see if toronto can can. They're starting to look really scary. and georgia's man we talked about. This is why you go get a certain guy. Well here's like toronto. Wants to george springer when he's healthy so dynamic it's it's pretty scary so and guys. I'm gonna go back in tyler. That's it for your tyler's ten. We good we are solid. Got him okay. Got old tyler. You have somebody else in mind. Your who wanted by the way your rent out to the season Yeah we've done for the year that's another example of buyer. Beware in free agency so far. So bad for the a angels in the Anthony were known contract. I mean it's been a shortened season. Last year. he was fine to eighty six nine home in fifty two games but this year fifty eight games at the age of thirty one to forty six home runs. Thirty four runs batted then. He turns thirty two in the middle of next season in june and they have him under contract for thirty six thirty eight thirty eight thirty eight thirty eight million for the age of thirty six. He'd better turn it around. Get back to being. Anthony run because so far no bueno. Yeah get him healthy. I think you're going to get more out of it but right now the return is not been. It's it's not. Been good. I i trust him as a player. I love him as a player. But gotta play gotta be available. Think about this otani. What june july player of the month back to back months. If he's not on that roster right now can you imagine where they'd be. I mean the guy. Talk about my gosh unbelievable. What what he's been able to do to at least keep them floating and and still be an. Mvp guy so it's it's it's pretty impressive and and watching them do. But who were you gonna say. Tyler what were you seeing ready to say about your team. The you had as far as the trade deadline as far as the biggest winner goes at the moment. I think it's a tie between houston l. a. i. houston's bullpen was a massive need and they they over the top addressed a and i i mean the city can't be grateful enough for it because all the guys that they got they look great says number one but as far as the biggest loser goes and this is the one i mentioned to. Mc during the break. I gotta think that it's colorado. I mean you heard all these rumors that they were gonna trade trevor story that they were going to trade one of their starters that they were going to trade their Reliever and they're all on expiring contract so it's like okay. Well maybe they'll get some bathroom. They kept everyone. So you're not gonna lose trevor story. They're probably in the reliever too. It's like you got absolutely nothing for all three of these guys and you held onto him for what i understand. That trevor story is not having that great of a year. You could have got something like just something for him. Yeah but the question is but i will say for them. The question with that is is it worth getting a middling prospect that point or is it worth getting the high compensation pick that. You'll get when he walks. The competition is going to be make sure trade out their mistake earliest trading him so they should have traded him earlier. Yeah like last in the in this past off season or back when they traded nolan aeronautic when his value was through the roof. You hit. it's exactly the comp pick is is going to be to them at this stage you would think that's going to be a better situation for them when trevor story leave so yeah but they are boy they they they screwed the pooch little bit not just here close to the trade deadline but the you know from the air nado thing all the way here. It's been a struggle for them and they're going to end up losing some some key players to in the offseason but yeah there's some winners and it is you have to keep pace. And when the dodgers start to see an astros bullpen. What do they do well. We want when. We're gonna get max and we're gonna we're going all in on this. I mean you do you do you gotta keep up with the great teams and fortunately for this roster here they they did. They addressed what they needed. And it's worked and you hope it continues to work. We're in for one hell of a last third run here in major league baseball sports. Talk seven hundred nine hundred thirty minutes to go here on a thursday and it's been fast paced and moving. That's tyler standard is seventy heavy t in mci. I'm sean classic chevy sugarland classic chevy highway six. I'm going to pick up my vehicle today to being gone from classic chevy sugarland. That's how efficient they are if they don't have more important things to do than worrying about somebody who loves him anyway but that just goes to show you. They don't take anybody for granted and they sure as hell won't take you for granted they've got tremendous deals thousands off different vehicles on the lot including eleven thousand off the best truck on the road. And that's the chevy silverado. But you've also got incredible customer service from the service department from the way that the sales staff deals with you and not a. "Players away. I mean you go to too low you go to. Dj you go to nolan. Dj was a free agent. I get that but you go to nolan. Now you're going to trevor. Do you have any hope that this with this this Benny montgomery who they drafted with eight with the eighth pick. Let's say that he's a stud. How long has it gotten colorado. I mean that is got to be the thinking if iraqis fan even if a guy does the idea of trane john gray. What's what's the point of while we rebuild but these guys are still pretty young. What is great twenty six. So let's go. We want to rebuild but we can't have twenty six years. We need twenty three year old. I mean is three years that big of a difference. We're going to move on from story. We're going to move on from grey so that we can rebuild. I i'm telling you. I'm glad we have a few weeks before the trade deadline yet if the rockies bust out if they bust out of the gates here and they get the dodgers on friday so big. If does that give you hope. Let's say the rockies at six games under five hundred five games away from that six games under within a month by mid august there's five to six games under five hundred now the trade deadline's at the end of july but okay. Let's just say let's say in july before the trade deadline. Do you make a run. Do you make go and say we could squeeze into the play if the rocky somehow some way and again they do it though. This would be the most unlikely of postseason appearances in their history. The world series was pretty crazy when they won. Like what twenty one at twenty three. So keep schmidt you're gonna trevor. You're going to do all these things and it eventually. Yeah you you probably will get some kind of a boycott keeps happening. I guess maybe not. Sad to the nolan aeronautic thing. Everybody's like poetic and finally put an end. Here was nolan at the end of it. All kind of talking about what it meant to him to have the fans cheering him on and all that hoopla. Here's nolan think. We can all understand that sometimes when you work and you do good work. Sometimes he doesn't get noticed. And sometimes you want to be appreciated for what you did. And that's in everyday life. You know whatever it could be anything you know you do something with somebody you want to say thank you. I guess in a way. And i'm not that i want them to say thank you but the fact that they did it means a lot you know i. I never ask for answers or thank us for anybody. I just try to do the best. I can but the fact that they appreciate it like i said it means a lot to me. Because that's that's what i try to do is just play hard and sometimes you get notice playing harder. They don't people. Don't appreciate the fact that colorado did and like i said i love him and i appreciate it. It was unbelievable experience But it was great running onto the line and seeing all them. And i really tried to take take it in you know. Usually i'm pretty like locked in on but the game. You're just trying to have fun. And i just you know. I really appreciated the moment. It was incredible. Time still sting..

"Because they have certain coaches and certain schemes and they by the way their parents are closed. They can go to all the games. I i'm not saying everybody's gonna leave but i'm saying for the lead. That's what everyone pushes back are like. Wow now now. It's going to be an advantage california. You don't get enough. But i don't know i just listen. I'm a pack twelve guy but it makes it makes perfect sense and it does some things do till two advantage to other places and other things changes mean something but it's not going to be anything everything and all and that's what the reaction to the sits like. Okay now. cosworth is going to be pro sports. No it's not now. All the kids are only going to the big schools. No they're not. Oh it's only going to benefit the top athletes. No it's not everything is not all like just relax a little bit. It's going to be clunky. At first. And maybe it will benefit the pac twelve. Maybe everything you're saying. Well i'm the best and guess what won't that'd be good for the sport. Because there's an all we ever hear about his parody by the way wasn't college football better when ucla or excuse me. When usc in miami hurricanes big city had swag and attitude now you have a bigger playoff so you can spread the talent around more so when we do have more teams in the playoffs. That's not going to be three blowouts before we get to the championship. Have a little vision. College athletes are going to get paid as they should one more heard the heard streams twenty four hours a day seven days a week within the iheartradio app. Search her to listen live or on demand. Whenever you like. Justin turner has been paid. He should be. He basically holds every dodger. Postseason home runs hits. Rbi's runs he holds all of them. All star voting ends in fifty minutes. He's an inch behind nolan aeronautic. Oh go vote for justin turner. He's thirty six by the way old guy. All-star has a nice ring to it. Let's bring justin turner in live. They still dodgers by the way. Four game series with the naps tonight by the way at thirty six years old. I see a lot of red not a lot of gray in that beard. Let's be honest though thirty six year. Old all-star justin. That'd be pretty cool right like that that that would be something when your careers over. That would be way up top right like that kind of honor. Yeah absolutely and the way. I've kind of been looking at it. Is you know the mobile loves to promote young is and there's a lot of exciting young guys in the game right now but as some point in their career especially these guys are signing these twelve. Thirteen fourteen years deals. You know. they're going to be thirty. Six year olds as well. I wanna be all sorts too. So i might as well be the first one to get the ball rolling me and yati and there's a couple other guys buster posey who are on the back end trying to represent the old guys. You know it's interesting. You're having another great year. There's no surprise with that right now. You'll eat the dodgers and hits batting average. Rbi's total bases. What's fascinating though. Is the most talented team in baseball. But the giants lead. And if you looked at the giants roster on the dodgers roster. You'd almost take dodger at every position and here the giants and that's what makes baseball crazy guys are playing over their skis. The dodgers seasons been interesting bellinger's hurt and then monkeys hurt and then guys come back is even though you're playing. Well now you've got since the no hitter. You guys are playing well. It feels like it's been a little bit of an odd season where it can't it's not like sinking up at the perfect time. Does it now. Does it now feel like it's sinking up. It's getting close. We've been carried all season long by starting pitching in our in our bullpens. Been really good for us. The offense is kind of in and out it mess. Like you said we've had belly down. Seger down muncie. Missed a couple of weeks so we. I think we've only played three with our actual opening day starting lineup. But that's the case for everyone around the league. Riders injuries going on all over the place and and i think you said it best. The beauty of baseball is on paper. you know one team can look way better than another but that doesn't matter you saw he stuff to go in the field. You start to compete. You still have to do it in between the lines and Honestly for for baseball the giants in the dodgers being in the top of the division top nationally is great. Because that's you know that's the ultimate rivalry right. You know what's interesting with you. you're just a hitter. So you're hitting two eighty five. That's that leads. All third baseman elite in war lead in batting average. And we've had this This tax situation where it's pretty understood. Everybody knows it. You know it used to be weightlifters and baseball. Pitchers are always looking for grip. They used attack it spins and i read a story about a month ago where it was like play pitcher batters were saying i can hear. I can hear the ball snapping. And i'm thinking well you're still hitting to ninety so you know who the hell cares so you're fine but but when it was happening and may during baseball's average dipped to like two thirty seven. Why were you still hitting. I mean you obviously just and had been in this game long enough. you heard. You heard the rumors. You saw the stuff but you. You still maintain your average. You didn't let it get into your head. Was there a reason why you maintained your average and a lot of guys. Didn't you know. I'm not sure i think ultimately like you said i'm a hitter over a slugger. I obviously enjoy extra-base. Said in home runs as much as the next guy. But once i get the two strikes you know it turns into survivor mode. Battling scrapping finding ways to move the ball forward. Put the ball in play and just finding holes and Also you know. I'm a guy that that understands. When my i don't have my ace wing. I don't have my best swing. I'm not going to go out there and try to hit home runs and hit doubles. Because i know. I'm not feeling my best so i'm just gonna go and try to grind down at bat and hit the ball the other way. Move a runner. Do something to help the team win. And i think that has benefited me a lot. This year you know it's interesting you and kershaw you're kind of the like the soul of the right like and you're older dudes and then the dodgers though. Bring up a lot of young guys when you go on a road trip. I mean you and kershaw looked like to me. You'd listen to classic rock and roll like his kershaw. Do you ever look at kershaw. Sometimes i'd be like sometimes where the parents here. There's so many young players with the dodgers. It is different. You'll get your closer to forty then thirty. Yeah we you know especially this year. We've had a lot of young guys. Yes with injuries and and a lot of guys trying to step in and fill roles so there's been a lot of stuff going on and you know one thing that's really helped us is another old guy who recently joined us our pool holes yes has been huge for us in the locker room and talking to guys and helping guys out. So yvonne is fun to be on this side of of my career and be able to have conversations with young is and try to help them along and and see them develop and go through their process every day of getting better. Obviously the talent in our game Especially for the younger guys is off the charts and You know we're just here to try to keep them on track and keep them moving in the right direction and hopefully help them. You know see their full potential because there are a lot of dynamic young glares in this game. We're going to carry us for a while by the way you're starting to four game series with the nats tonight and it when you again you can do all star voting. He's right behind nolan. Aaron auto go to mlb dot com slash. Vote last minute votes in. We got nothing against nolan by the way. But you know we're in los angeles so justin's is good. Get for us when when you sort of look you guys are now world series champs and they i remember reading the story years and years ago about you know when mohammed ali was a champ. He got everybody's best fight you know everybody's best fight peyton. Manning got every defensive coordinators best effort. That's when you slept on the couch in the office as a defensive coordinator. Your world series champs. Have you noticed justin when you're a world series champ. The crowds are a little bigger the tots or a little louder and it is different. It is just as hard defending that as it is attaining that.

"Been a busy one here kovacs very very busy. One nuggets trade news. I'll be real honest. We did the lonzo ball thing yesterday. And this morning's poll question was going to be. Who would you rather have. Lonzo ball. Aaron gordon but before i could even get going today. They've announced they're going to mcgee. And i thought well and heir gordon. I didn't think the nuggets were going to be buyers. I didn't think they were going to do much. You know but especially last night while playing the raptors and again i space this but toronto's planned in tampa. I just completely forgot about that. And as i'm watching us. Oh that's right that's right because the cova that's right but so that that was awful back to back. We'll martin looked terrible so then part of me said man. Maybe they are at that point. Do you recall. And we're going to get chris on here. Hopefully and i'm not going to press him or anything about this. Because we know his position. But i asked him last week you know. What's the status on gary harris. When's he coming back. That was more of a know. I know nobody really knows it went from. He's hurt to. Nobody really knows where they just kind of like. Hold them out saying. Hey this is this is what's going to happen. You know. you don't really fit in rotation at this stage in the way we're gonna do this so we're gonna move on gary's one of the good ones trust me. I love the guy but it makes sense. It makes perfect sense. I think the sentiment throughout the state to is that you know. Gary got this thing going you know. Brandon ewing of denver stiffs. We've had on this program. Wrote a nice piece this morning saying hey through thick and thin it was always gary harris. You no matter what the roster looked like it was scary well colfax. I'm here to tell you that was the problem. That was a problem. Denver made a tough move today. Tim conley calva move. Made tough moves today. Not with hartenstein. Now with the draft picks with gary harris. But this is what you have to do. Now the nuggets. They're not extremely active on trade deadline. Really really since carmelo. They haven't been there very loyal to their their players for the most part. They're pretty loyal to their to their key players. Gary would still be considered a key player even though he's on the bench but still started when he was healthy when a bench injured at me he was still started when he was healthy. Denver made a better move for nicole yokich today the whole video which we got another one coming out later this week. We did a whole minute video about you. Better treat joker right. You don't want to turn out like nolan aeronautic. And i know that was extreme and hogan's freaked out on me which is nothing new. But you do want to be careful here. A lot of diehard reporters in denver. We'll tell nicola yokich loves it here. He's never going anywhere. Wind is the win you know. He's he's gonna win. mvp When he goes all these all star games. when does it become. The only thing i left to do is win a championship and his denver going to equip me with the team to do that. So it's all well and good right now but come contract year do could you see yourself getting into an ordinary nado situation where it's like all right i'll sign. And then he signs in it's whoa. You're not doing anything. This was the nuggets saying. Hey we have the best player in the nba. They do. We argue all day long. But nicola yokich is the best player in the nba. The guy doesn't even have to try and he falls over a triple double and i mean he's you're constantly going to get the numbers from him. There's no more question about whether or not he wants to win this way. Whatever at a double double last night in an an atrocious basketball game. But what's the rest going to do. Okay porter starting to get consistently to that point where he's going. Nineteen twenty points. A game jamal. Murray is finally kind of stabilizing right. Now i don't know if he's going to be a fifty point i don't know if he's going to be fifteen point. Be stabilizing getting you twenty. But is that going to be enough. This was the move man hartenstein averaging about five minutes per game you know. I don't know four or five points per game. I mean looking at his numbers right now. Colfax it's not so that wasn't the loss you're going to talk about the draft picks you know the the mcgee the javale mcgee thing was easy because those are two second round picks that are wants project not wants two thousand twenty three one thousand twenty seven. I don't think about that. This is a window is what you call a championship window folks. You're not thinking of five years down the road. And i know that's the plan i play. This team has never won a championship. This is the window. It's time to do what it takes get aggressive denver's been pretty non-aggressive the last five six years and they they didn't need to be. This was the year because why colfax at the beginning of the season well before the beginning the offseason. We thought jeremy grants coming back. Well michael green has had his moments but he has not proved to be the replacement for jeremy grant so that was a big thing than we thought. All right michael. Junior murray gonna take the next step have they has michael porter. Jr. taking the next step he probably has. But it's more like a like a half step like not the you know when you're walking. You're trying to avoid stepping on the cracks. And you gotta like shuffled real quick so you can keep that rhythm. This is a shuffle. Step that we have with porter shuffle. Step still going forward. He still moving up. But it's not a big step jamal. Murray did he take a step forward. They take a step backward. Urs somewhere somewhere in between like you stand still kind of and i don't want to say that he's that he's had the last twenty games have been different more consistent but you know when you see. Fifty point games in a playoff bubble. Don't you start to expect twenty five twenty seven more often than not. You're you're looking at thirty. So and i know you gotta hogan's freaking out brady hates jamal. Murray he's on putting pressure on a guy that i think could great. Sorry sorry that. I wanna see a championship in denver. So those those were the things that happened. You didn't get jeremy. Grant fail right. Loss but puerto juniors shuffle stepping. It's taken a little bit though jamal. Murray sitting still not really bad but not really superstar yet so the things you needed to happen haven't necessarily happen by the trade deadline. So denver had to sit back and assess the situation. What are we missing. Well it's not. We're not going to blame jamal. Murray we're not gonna blame michael porter. Jr. they're just not doing enough to make up for these weaknesses that we have right and the weakness that you have. You don't have strong interior defense. You don't have shop lockers. Well folks now you have shot blockers. Now you have guys that are going. I mean vail. Mcgee was averaging two and a half blocks per game and he was getting about fifteen minutes. This guy listen. Javale mcgee's at a point his career. He's not a game changer. He's putting together valuable minutes. And then what you traded for. Aaron gordon probably a little steeper right you lose gary harris you lose hampton which is the biggest biggest story of this is you're losing. Rj hampton who you thought was probably going to be a big time player Gordon is averaging fourteen points per game about seven boards per game four per game. Not a good free throw. Shooter doesn't matter he is. he's putting together. He was putting together pretty season averages about a block per game but still stronger defense there so now you just got better there. What's that. What's that starting lineup. Gonna look like these are big moves folks. These.

Aaron gordon nicole yokich michael Gary Murray last week Gordon gary two thousand today fifty point chris fifteen point Mcgee Brandon four gary harris michael green martin Nineteen twenty points

"If you're rundown grass run to the corner get a corner three. Obviously those rules are amended in End of gabe scenario when nobody getting into the game to overtime so i guess he's right and wrong about that. I guess i'd rather him say that he wanted to win the game. Rather than just you know i. I didn't know what you know. Even though that was the wrong thing either way but i'd rather him at least say no. I was thinking when rather just. I didn't know where i was on the floor. Yeah exactly exactly. And i mean if the ball was swung supporter i. I've probably with a corner three for him. That's not the worst outcome in the world. That's probably like he makes that. At least fifty percent of the time wide. Open corner three. The problem is they got the absolute worst outcome. They could have asked for possession. Like i'm taking a jamal. Murray contested three or monte morris contested three over a fox composite three from above the break and he shot the ball pretty well from three this year. I think he's got like thirty seven and a half percent but he's only really made threes from the corner he's been terrible on three pointers not in the corner so it was a low percentage shot and really like the worst outcome at denver could hope for their. I had to rewind it like six times. Because i was like how. How did they have three on one. How what happened there. And then it was exactly what we thought and that first glimpse it was just a botched play ultimately and yeah porter cuts to the basket. We're going over time. and who knows. Maybe you and. I are talking about about a win today. Washington's a deceptive team harrison. The record doesn't show it but they've won what six out of their last seven and they've all been against pretty good teams nuggets twice. I think the celtics lakers portland's in there so washington's canada that deceptive sneaky team. That's probably going to find themselves in the playoffs if they don't do any big moves before the trade deadline. Yeah they've been. They've been hot for sure. They beat portland. They beat the clippers. Play the lakers. Pretty tight The other night foot the other side of the coin is like they were without who absolutely listen doug itself in that first meeting last week but let's play hard Russell westbrook who was so unimpressive for a lot of that game last night as a big moments when it counted And look i. it's just another bad boss for denver and the nuggets have a bunch of those season. The wizard twice to the kings three times to the hawk like those are all potential ranger teams. That are going to miss out on the playoff loss to windy. You start having the to conversations when you start pressing the panic button on this team because we all had pretty high expectations or at least i did And then the other thing is when you look around. I know it's not even close to the same thing but the rockies shipped out nolan aeronautic. He was frustrated with the way things were building around him. Windows nicola yokich look around and wonder about the structure of this team so to two part question therefore harrison. What the yolk it's part. I don't think that's somethin'. People are fans or or really anybody has to worry about He's gonna be here for the long haul. "Ratio on scoops. With danny mac dot com. Happy to be with you. We've got some good cardinals and major league baseball stuff from over the weekend. Talk about i think. The news of the nolan aeronautica trade. That is reportedly close to completion. Finally answers the. what's next question. After every move that has been made by the club in recent history. We're gonna visit with kevin harlan coming up in just a couple of minutes. Kevin of course will be on the call for the super bowl in tampa for westwood. One radio this is going to be the seventh straight super bowl at kevin. Harlan is called. And he's such a good guy i love chatting with. We'll do that in just a little bit. So we had some cardinals news on friday. The last time we spoke. But it wasn't what we have just about coming to a boiling point right now. But i'm not sure amidst i think a lot of maybe relief was the best word that adam wainwright was going to return to the cardinals because as a fan i think more than anything you just read it of him going to play somewhere else and also. The cardinals really need the pitching help and need the pitching depth. But i'm not sure any of you and your wildest dreams imagined that as quickly as that deal was announced that the cardinals would then get involved with nolan or not. I know for a lot of people we would. Maybe take the nolan aeronautic chatter with some reserved excitement. Some reserved enthusiasm. Because you don't want open yourself up to get hurt. There had been a lot of nolan. Aeronautic cardinal whispers and connections over the last handful of years but when ken rosenthal athletic reported i think then you start to piece together some of the financial consequences of that deal for colorado and the way the cardinals have historically but also in the midst of an unprecedented twenty twenty one position themselves financially. Then maybe it started to become a little more real still not done as of taping right this moment in releasing this podcast one o'clock on monday but it appears by every report that we are close to the finish line. Don't forget subscribe to these groups. Danny mac podcast. Where every listen to your podcasts. And send me a.

"That a free agent or trade acquisition of superstar like they're saying, they could add like a francisco indoor a Nolan Erin auto because we had that Nolan Aeronautic show whoever it is that will sell merchandise in jerseys it will get people to buy tickets even if it's unlimited capacity for the start of the season and people are allowed to go I guarantee you'll find people that will go to the game annual sell out some of those limited capacity seats to go see that new player. If the seat venue with ten thousand seats. Absolutely. It's enough. Social distancing I think will eventually be able to pull something off like that. Even, if it's eight, thousand, nine, thousand, I would not be surprised. Obviously it all depends on what plays out over the next few months. But I think we would have seen a little bit this year in a full season with review. There were a lot of Jersey sales a lot of excitement. There will probably be crowd boost and bump whenever he pitched any given night especially because of the Korean. That's in Toronto. They have gone to see him play sell it right? I. Think that there is reason to be optimistic about where this team headed this off season I believe Marsha pyros words. But again, they're still these people and I don't want to stay on mantra power for too long but I think it's worth mentioning there are still people who doubt him give me one reason for multiple reasons why you can understand why people are still a little bit guarded about trusting Misron office because people still have the walls up Adam. Is there anything that you could point to these past five years that make people think? I'm not sure if I trust them quite yet. I still see a little bit more. So anything that stands out. Yeah. Four out of five years of rebuild now to a casual fan rebuilding and I wouldn't even say that the fifth year this past two, thousand and twenty season was not still in line with the rebuild but whatever. You know from two thousand. That minimum, right? Yeah. That's what I'm saying. So sixteen seventeen, eighteen nineteen, there was legitimate case for rebuilding in selling off assets trading way assets not to a casual fan seeing players like Choi to Lewinsky not resigned Russell Morin not resign. Josh. Johnson. Not resigned being traded away for nothing Aaron Sanchez being traded away. Mark Schulman being traded away Jose Bautista not getting a new contract Edwin not getting the contract I can see why to casualties that fell in love with the same in two thousand fifteen are saying. This. Doing. I can understand why that's such a culture shock an topless would never do that probably would but I. would. Never do this so. I can see why to a casual fan that is a little disheartening especially when you're acquiring assets that you're not gonNA necessarily see for the next two three years down the road. At that time. So in that regard in a limited understanding and that's no insult to the to the casual finish just obviously. By. Definition casualties fans don't do a deep dive into the research as to what they're going to get insurance prospect capital. I can understand why they'd be discouraged with the return because when you look at football when you look at basketball, the return is almost immediate right? If you trade for someone that person's playing for your team right away in baseball, it doesn't work that way. There's a little nuance in there's a developmental factor to it so..

"Well boys summer might not even hit the diamond this year. That says well Major. League baseball team owners and the players association have hit an impasse that well kind of doesn't Harkin well for the future baseball. Major, League. Baseball Season Possibility, that twenty twenty major league baseball season. Might not even be played. They might be on an extended as seventh innings stretch six, twenty, seven, now thirteen ten Kfi A. it just boggles the mind, doesn't it? Thirteen ten KFI A dot com mornings. We fail live. Fueled by Great Western petroleum from the auto collision specialist as studios all right, we talked a bit about. What the? Owners are saying about the season. There's a whole lot of finger pointing belly bumping going on. Both claiming that? Neither side is negotiating in good faith, but you had many players weighing in including rockies, all star Third Baseman Nolan Aeronautic oh well. Nolan believes that Manfred the owners have been attempting to shorten season in order to save money during a summer without fans in the stands through Dacoven nineteen. No Air Nado told the Denver Post. It's very obvious what is going on and I truly hope fans are paying attention. We, the players want to play and are ready to go. We believe in playing as many games as possible went on to say why shrink the season. You want to watch the best players out there. Playing Games shortened season. You don't get the greatness that the world deserves to see. We still have a chance to get out there, and that's what the major. League baseball players. Association said Let us know what we are. Are doing because we don't WanNa waste anymore days every day. There's no game is a day wasted and we want to get back. Okay well, then arguably, why did they exit? Stage left from the negotiating table, just putting the question out there. And who do you blame for the breakdown in the negotiations and shouldn't there be some adults at the table? Shouldn't they be able particularly now in a time of covid nineteen? Nineteen, where we're all just so starving for sports and baseball and basketball and hockey, and the list goes on and on seem to be making progress in other sports. Why can't they just sit down? Put their heads together and come to some sort of resolution. I suppose nothing. Is that simple? But your thoughts this morning, nine, seven, three, five, three, thirteen, ten, eight, seven, seven, three, five, three, thirteen, ten, as well for. For the moment, it's increasingly looking like we will not have a twenty twenty major league baseball season, although something tells me, that's not the kind of PR that. Major League Baseball wants, and somehow some way they will reach consensus. We can only hope all right at torched Wendy's reduced to charred rubble. One officer fired a police chief resigns this as protests erupt in Atlanta after the shooting death of Ray Chard Brooks now. If you buy into the mainstream, politically correct narrative, there are some that say this is yet another example of systemic reform. In Law, enforcement is truly that simple. "Eight hundred eight seven a play coming up in a few minutes in this segment. Marina Zenit will be with US as she has lance thirty for thirty on. Espn going down right now. Ain't nothing going down but the rent all right so I was talking about this revenue split which I thought was going to be fifty fifty but now of course. Mlb wants a larger part of the revenue. And they want the highest paid players to take a bigger cut and the union has call the plan. Disappointing MLB spokesman said. We made a proposal to the and that is completely consistent with the economic realities facing our sport. We look forward to a response a proposal from the MLB PA. Well if you look right now at some of the proposals if you make minimum wage which is five hundred and sixty three thousand dollars a year. You'll get to sixty two okay. So that's basically half if you make thirty five million dollars this year. You'll make seven point eight now the Yankees have baseball's highest full season payroll this year. Two hundred and sixty million players at the top of almost every sliding scale so Garrett Cole supposed to make thirty six million the F. It was half if it was pro rated which is what they agreed to spring training. It'd be eighteen. But they want him to take eight so his pay reduction is seventy seven point six percent which is not good. Brett Gardner of the Yankees is GonNa make ten. He's and they wanted to make two point five Gary Sanchez. Both make five one point six so if you think about more than four point two five billion dollars in player salaries on the books prior to the shutdown eighty two game season. Knox that down to a bit more than two billion so the sliding scale will then road reduce it reverse it to further about one point five bill sell. Basically you have almost a seventy percent reduction in payroll and that's GonNa put the highest play paid players at odds with the lowest paid players and then that pits them as Brayden was saying kind of against each other. At least. That's maybe what they want like Nolan Aeronautic and do the so one player told Sports New York. They've just taken the biggest problem in the Union to pay class divide and flipped it on its head and now they'll watch as the union tears itself apart as the highest paid fight back on this the lowest paid say. Whoa WHOA we like this. The Union will try to convince them as young players that it's in their interest to stand together but it isn't so this proposal was. Do a right when it touched the hands of the Union. They're the union would never allow the big stars take a seventy seven percent pay-cut and that would create a horrible precedent across all sports as well especially after they had agreed to prorated salaries so the proposal is designed to make players. Look greedy. Never mind the fact that owners are asking them to offset their losses so in March when they agreed to prorate it. They said we wanted discussing. Good faith the economic feasibility of playing games with the absence of spectators which only allows for further salary negotiations. But the bet I think here is. The season will not be canceled because some of the revenue is better than none of revenue even with the players making their full rated salaries and also with with tens of millions losing their jobs across the country. Mlb canceling season over money would do huge damage to the sport you could even say would make the work. Stoppage and ninety four and ninety five look like child's play because they're not going back because they're going to the too big of a cut now if you really take into consideration. What's being asked? I can see players saying you know what I'll just sit it out. I got twelve acres. Got Three pools got a wine. Cellar got my own movie theater. I think I'll just get it out here and then you'd have fans all over the country saying let's come back as a baseball fan though. It's it's very easy to be discouraged today by these proposals because it makes it seem like baseball's light years away and you could argue that these are the most important week of labor talks since that lockout and at the same time the Union and the League. We're never going to agree on the initial proposal. So what happens next is of course way more important than what what happened today and this is why we all need to keep to keep a look at it. Keep a tight lid as the kids would say on it. I just you know. I've always said that major league players will not just majorly players any athlete. Professional Athlete deserves every penny. They get a learner's wouldn't pay these salaries if they couldn't afford them and it's not like the player comes in and says this is how much I making. Wow that's horrible. No no say. Would you like this? Would you like that? And over the years with C. B. as we try to get a scale especially rookie scale and I remember when we had Moved Her to four twenty. Four one hundred twenty minutes.

"Love to see the bunting out. Of course. It's dark here. Chris field with the lights are test on the field right now. It looks pristine. We're gonna be talking to the groundskeeper, of course, as we do every year little bit later in the morning. Yeah. The grass looks fantastic right now as we get you ready for opening day. Just a lot of history with this a lot of things to cover a lot of things to talk about. And and you know, this again, it's like an unofficial holiday you get excited the Rockies coming in getting at least one win in the last three over Tampa Bay. They've turns out to be a pretty good team. Yeah. Mike, don't you think that helps have a little bit of momentum? They've they met the freight train. That is Tampa Bay this year. They're unbelievable. I was even driving in this morning. The national folks are all talking about Tampa Bay. They talk a lot about the east coast teams. There's totally an east coast buys, but that's probably a topic for another day. Hopefully, the Rockies can make them talk about talk about west coast team. You know, everybody talks about a winner. And I think there's truth to that. I mean, two straight playoff appearances. So they're getting to where they want to be. But I think it's really cool that the guys were talking. Thing you know, World Series like they now nobody's guaranteeing anything. But that's the goal. And I think they feel like it's realistic to make a run at that. And you can't guarantee anything after six months of baseball. You got to be playing well and all the rest, but hey, why not the right components? I think so I mean when you have free Linden Mark is at the top of the rotation. That's certainly a really good start. There's no doubt about that. I think there was some great signaling about getting buddy bucks signed for long-term deal Nolan aeronautic. I think the shows people for years, I don't have to tell you this Mike always talked about where's the commitment from the Rockies and the organization, oh, they're committed. And I think they've shown that. But the investment they've made with the team in this ball. I think it goes beyond money. I really do. I mean, you look at continuity, and in what Mark Wylie's done is the director pitching now that he's been here four or five years, and it's not just what happens at the big league level. It's having continuity from you know, throughout the whole farm system. Low minors rookie ball all the way up to AAA in the big league club when you have everybody on the same page or at least trying. Be on the same page. They know where the pages says. Yeah. And when you have a philosophy of how you wanna develop pitchers, and how you want your position players to develop in the coaches at every level or sort of buying into that. And and going along with that. And then implementing that also you you and then Bill Schmidt and what his guys are doing in the scouting department. I mean, you you start to see an organization that that has turned the corner. Hopefully time will tell into one of the one of the better major league franchises in ultimately guys. That's borne out on the field at the big league level. You win. You get to the playoffs. Make runs that divisional titles and penance and all the rest. That's where that's where people say. All right. They've arrived there. Legit. You talk about the expectations being set, you know, about getting back to the playoffs this year that we can get the division. Is there? This is the year as things escalate you say, okay this year, we may be at least win the last year. They were right. I mean they had a play in game, right? Yeah. So why not I mean can Kyle Freeland continue to be cow freely with Mark is off to an unbelievable start. I think when it comes to pitching, I think one of the big keys is John gray. If he can lockdown. I mean as the third I mean, he's technically the fourth starter right now, if he can be who I think everybody thinks John gray can be we've seen glimpses of seeing glimpses and the stuff is there can can mentally. He get it figured out. Can he be consistent and kind of tap into that regularly? If so you've got a lot more than a third starter in the third starter position today, it's all about Tyler Anderson. It is about Tyler Anderson is the Rockies get home schedule started. Here course field dodgers in town opening the series today. Rockies three and four after starting the year at Miami. And Tampa Bay today. It'll be left-hander Tyler Anderson towing the rubber as a team, we're we're excited places. We've been in Tampa, they don't they don't drop by Horsfield does fans. You know, we have the greatest fan can't seem all play. In front of them for home game. So another we're all excited about that. We went one on one with Tyler you'll hear portions that interview throughout the show, and you can catch the whole interview right there on the KOA NewsRadio Facebook page dodgers, go with Kim to my ADA LA is five and two should be fun, Jack, Jerry and Jesse have the coverage starting at one thirty. "I'd had I actually had Francisco indoor I wrote his I in my predictions column. I said he was my ale. MVP pick non Mike trout division. We sort of accept my Trump's going to be the most valuable player in the league. You gotta pick somebody else because it's just not interesting to say trout and when door easily one of the five best players in the league going to play for a contender going to put up great numbers. And now he's out for at least a month and two separate leg injuries. Who knows if he comes back on time if he comes back at one hundred percent, and I think this Ramirez Inder injury underscore the problem with Cleveland's off season. Which is that I think they looked at the division and said we've probably got this and didn't do really didn't do anything to improve the major league roster. They made it looks to me like an active choice. They really didn't do anything to especially address their outfield situation. Which is I think easily the weakest outfield of any contending team. And chose to ride it out. They may play Oscar Mocatta one of their top prospects at least for a good chunk of the season, which I think would be a good move. But they could have picked up a corner outfield option somewhere in free agency allow those guys were getting next to nothing in free agency. Because right now, again, that's that's I think a pretty significant weak spot for them, especially offensively. And now they're looking at losing potentially losing their two best offensive players for the first month plus the season. Maybe and it makes that decision look worse in hindsight. The decision not to try to add some thump in their corner outfield. Spot. Definitely looks worse today than it did a month ago. Yeah. And they have to hope that Carlos Gonzales hits right away. An open question at this point in stationed his career. Go ahead. I was just gonna say if you look at him in Colorado. He was one of the players. I think particularly benefited from playing the course where at least a way from course field. He really had trouble hitting off speed stuff. Had trouble moving really the more pitch moved the harder. The bigger difficulty. He had with it. That was a trait. He had before he went to Colorado got to Colorado and had those handful of real peak years, but he was this isn't a Nolan aeronautic Gonzales was clearly helped by playing in. No, I don't think you can Bank on a lot of offense out of him. Now that he's no longer playing at altitude. All right. Let's run through your predictions. I will start in the National League division by division. Okay. So I'll start with the National League east said already. I have the nationals winning. But I have it fairly close. Just two games over the Phillies. Also at the Phillies making the playoffs. Atlanta. Third Mets fourth game separating the two the Marlins clearly insists I could make cases for Atlanta or for the Mets getting into the playoffs here. I just think they're short of the two teams. I have at the top. I think those two teams have. A better baseline, and and a little bit more upside depending on how certain players perform if the Phillies get an MVP caliber year out of Bryce Harper, which we know he's capable of. But he's really only done at once in his career that could make turn them for being a ninety one team into a ninety three ninety four win team. And then they they do win the division. But I feel like those two in some order ended up advancing to the play offs..

"Maybe opening day. Now, I love baseball. But I'm an old, man. I'm forty two. I heard you guys earlier. And what are you looking at me? Me. What I didn't. You didn't say listen, I think baseball does have a problem. I do. And I love the game baseball hasn't have to worry about me. They don't have to worry about cap because we love it. There's something about the game of baseball for a lot of us that are of a certain age. I do think baseball's got an issue attracting young fans, though. And yeah, TV if caps not wrong TV viewership was up a few ticks last year. Both in the regional coverage, and the regional TV outlets and also the national like ESPN had a slight uptick in its national broadcast. The World Series was down though with the Red Sox in the World Series down. And I did some did some searching for you guys. You know, the trend is not great. Unfortunately. I got the job at Niagara. New head coach at Niagara. Lazy played at Niagara. All right. So average TV ratings of the World Series. I got data here going back to two thousand. So you got the last nineteen World Series. All right. So we'll make the two thousand take with the highest rated average World Series was from two thousand and two thousand Mets Yankees incorrect. Good gas. It's up there cubs. No cubs. His third cubs Indians. In two thousand sixteen is third. It did an average of thirteen point one the highest was the two thousand four World Series. Of course. Versus the curse breaking the curse. It was Red Sox. Cardinals the second highest was Yankees Diamondbacks post nine eleven it did a fifteen four seven on average. The cubs was the third highest the lowest rated World Series during that span was two thousand twelve the giants and the Tigers averaged just a paltry seven point six, but if you split up the sample here a little bit if you go from two thousand to sample. So the devil of grammar could give you. So what the sample here two thousand and two thousand nine okay? The average TV rating for the World Series was a pretty respectable twelve point one. But since two thousand ten the trend hasn't been good guys. It's dropped nine point three one. That is nearly twenty twenty-five percent decrease. It's a little over twenty three percent decrease two thousand one in it. I think it is problematic. And when Chris talks about the pace of play in the three trout comes. There was once a time where if you were designated as a three true outcome guy. It was almost like this ignominious distinction. You were robbed. Dear you were sort of made fun of it was robbed Deary all he does is hit home runs. Now teams are seeking that out. And so as the game has become more analytic, and it has changed. I do think it's embraced the idea of the three trout comes more. It does lead quite often do better offenses and winning. But the problem is the ball is in his play as much in cap because it's not in play as much you missed those great defensive highlights that you were talking about you said I'm sitting in front of my TV, maybe to watch havi make a great play or Nolan aeronautic or Matt Chapman or Francisco Lindor or make a great play. Well when the ball is not in play much. They can't make those great place. And I do think it's an issue for baseball. They don't have to worry about me. But they have the younger kids that are eighteen months. Ten now. Like are. They really going to be into baseball the way we were as kids youth participations up. Well, that's hard to hear at least act surprised. I am too. I am too number one. I don't believe that. I'd have to see numbers on it. The survey up, but what survey was huge. Servants picking baseball. It's a huge survey. What was it? You know, what kids are new now? I put my computer. I don't believe that to be true. There's no way that's true. The number one participated sport is baseball. It seems to baseball slash softball, boys girls. I don't believe it. But it's a great sport to me. Baseball's great. And even as it's changed evolved. I love it. But again, I'm a little bit older. It's almost like. Change it like what what drastic changes you make? I think a sport like that. You know, without getting gimmicky like Capela saying, you have to be careful, you know, I don't think they can get overly shift. No, I don't mean. Part of the sport that I would imagine you guys love I enjoyed this part of baseball. I'm a baseball fan is the strategy is is is one of the attractions to the sport the shift plays to that. It's put the DA would I I would. That's I don't know why that has it's crazy to me. Fixes it gets you closer to what you're looking for and people are. He plays the strategy though. Then. You know, you get a guy up there that could hit two. I listen for for the fifteen home runs that might be hit by pitchers this year. You know, is that really worth it all well, then you'd miss Bartolo Cologne hitting a home run or Madison. Bumgarner big deal is right. So the fifteen or eight how many picture home runs were there last year twenty may I don't maybe like out of all out of all the thousands of innings in the hundreds and hundreds of pitcher at bats. Like, that's really worth it to you. To me that's ridiculous at every level of professional baseball. Except the National League. There's a designated hitter get a professional hitter in there. And I think it helps, but I don't know the problems that face this game to me are real and while revenues are good. And you had the TV ratings were up a few ticks, which is good. When you see declining numbers in the World Series. Listen. A Redskins saints. I think it was Redskins saints from last October in a blowout game more than doubled one of the CS games between the Yankees and the Red Sox more than doubled. It like why is a relatively nondescript football game during the regular season, especially when the Redskins are playing for crying out loud. I I get the drew Brees saints attraction but like a game with the Redskins. Why is that game more than doubling a big AL CS game or or a World Series game? That's troubling. I wish that weren't the case. But every Tober you're going to see a Thursday night football match up. That's going to do a twelve. Gambling part of it. I know is huge. It's just it's too bad. Because I don't like it. When people make fun of baseball either. I I love it. I, you know, I don't to me. It's I scratch my head. I go really don't especially older people. Like, you're never get your New Yorker love baseball grownup. And some are just the the switch went off. And that's surprising to me he could care less. Now. I got kids they they take off. Now, they're out of school. But we it's a national holiday opening day. I just bought tickets for opening day GARRETT'S flying in from Pittsburgh to go to opening you make it a family thing. I mean, your kids like families all baseball. I just I I don't like when people knock the sport either. Because I do think it's a great game. I think it is despite some of the ugly things about baseball. Let's face it. A lot of the ugly. Things about baseball in the early part of the twentieth century. I still think. In a lot of ways it is very very American. I think it's part of our culture, again, not agreeing with the way the game was in the way, the owners conducted themselves for the first half of the twentieth century, looking, you know, I think most of us would look at it and say it's appalling how long it took for black players to be allowed to play on the reserve clause in ridiculous for the first what fifty sixty years of baseball the way they treated their players. It's ridiculous. But as. As an American like consuming. A sport consuming, something fun and activity outside of your daily life in your daily routine. I think baseball is a big part of life in this country in the summers. I mean, I I really do. And maybe that's why like it so much that aesthetic aspect of me is special find there was a huge baseball fan. So that's where that love of it started me like my grandpa used to tell stories about taking the train up to Wrigley field and seeing games for twenty five cents and watching the World Series and not an nineteen thirty three watching Joe DiMaggio and Babe Ruth play or nineteen thirty six whenever it was one of those cubs Yankees World Series in the thirties. I mean, like, I love those stories and the game to me is still great. It's still fun. I like power. I liked I'm fine with three three outcome players and the changing dynamic of the game. And analytics in a game. TV Mariano Rivera as Yankee jersey on. And he's coming out to throw out the first pitch you could pitch. He does doesn't and a TV throws a strike. I think it's cool as can be. Hi, Sean zone. Meanwhile, his his most famous teammates ruining the sport down in the state of Florida. So. So. Meanwhile, dirt cheers, making a mockery of the sport. The way I looked at. The numbers for a rod career numbers on my like season by season. Whether he was injecting, the juice or whatever. I don't know why you're speaking. So poetically about a guy that you should hate. I don't hate I like Iraq. Because it gets everything you talk about he's cheater. He was great. He was. But let me just tell you something. He's got he's got J lo. So you often good for him. How long do you think that wanna last? Let's take a I got baseball over unders I should have included that that's a baseball over under. He's a baseball player. How long will the jaylo a rod marriage last? I give an eight month you're going over under who own over it, really. Yeah. I think they're truly in love all please. How many is this for her? For number five. Fourth gauge metal. I don't even know how that works. I mean really for. She was married to. She's going for Larry king's Mark, Anthony. Yeah. Casper smart. I don't know if they ever got married. Odur who amused? There's Ben Affleck was she ever with Ben. And I don't know if they get married married benefit for a little while. Right. All the Boston Red Sox games. And now, she's what's one of the all time you see the picture of her. Her ex husband at a baseball game. Hey, rod this is fifteen years ago. And it says I'm coming coming for you. No way that makes it to the. On my Twitter timeline. There's a new woman he was texting with him. I should have done that for their. I got over owners. Are you staying for few minutes? Capper? You gotta run leaving to go. Do a horse race show. Let's hear the. I mean, he's he's got to go through. I mean. Baseball baseball with you. All right here. Let's do the over owners keep track. All right here, we go. Let's get some music to some baseball over got ten of them. Kris Bryant home runs over under thirty one and a half his one sixty two game average first career is thirty one. So I cheered a little I looked thirty one and a half over over. I'm also going to go over you guys like over on the other side of the glass, stay healthy over a lawyer menace. Home runs over under twenty one and a half pagoda projects him for nineteen over. Yeah. I'm going to go right at that number twenty one side and he five I'm going twenty one I'll say under the Twenty-one pretty good on Moncada strikeouts. Over under one ninety nine and a half. What was it last? I'm gonna say team I'm going to go under slightly. They'll be two hundred seventeen. I hope that's it under..

"I think Nolan Aaron auto is going to be more consistent. He plays in hitter friendly courts field. So that's going to boost his numbers a little bit. But the thing that differentiates. Erin auto to Bryce Harper for me is he's a six time gold Glover at a premium position. And analytics these days put a lot of value on defense and Bryce Harper's defense is actually below average. And it'll less significant position where you can find a lot more guys who can do. Let me put this graph up here that hembo, gave us because I think it's really interesting fan graphs as metrical dollars. It estimates player value. It's based on the war. They've produced by that measure, our an auto has been worth forty one million dollars more than Bryce Harper has over the last three years here. It is. Well, that's the one that we had up there minute ago. And so I didn't realize that had been up there. So that that's the same. The point is I think that's going to surprise a lot of people are not is the more valuable player. He is. I think people that are casual baseball fans might be surprised, but it's my job to watch these games and evaluate some of these players if you had to if I had to sign one of these players I'd signed Nolan aeronautic every day of the week that doesn't mean Bryce Harper slouch. He's a great player, but near air not said, it's. More consistent and the defense. Huge. If we throw Machado in there too. You're still taking on it's still air NADA. Yeah. Air not. If he wanted to go on the free agent market could have gotten over three hundred million from the Yankees. But he's happy in Colorado. He does. Well, they're he's he's enjoying being the franchise player in a great city like Denver. And look what we've always traditionally seen in baseball. Is you go through arbitration you play it all the way out until you finally get to be a free agent when you're about thirty years old. That's the way it usually works. Obviously Harper Machado got there earlier, and then you sign the long term contract. And that's what the owners don't like. So maybe this is the beginning with guys like Aaron Hickson our and auto signing a year before a little earlier get the bird in hand and not take it all the way. I completely agree because you risk going out to the free agent market. Number one, not getting the deal that you want not getting the big years in big numbers and number two being stuck in a city. You really don't wanna play. I mean, we're all human beings air. Now does a west coast guy, if he goes to the east coast for a little bit more money, what you've been happy, you know? You never know until you get is that what's going on price. Harper. I got twenty seconds. Here is Bryce Harper. That's going to get done today. Tomorrow. I don't think so I just don't think that he wants to take Phillies three hundred plus million dollars. And he might eventually take it. And that's going to be an interesting. I interview in Philly spring training when when those reporters are saying, why didn't you take the money on day one, right? Three months. It took them and take three hundred million dollars from that team. But that's where it winds up going. All right. As we continue. Did you hear what Paul Pierce said about LeBron yesterday? It was stunning. So stunning at Jalen yelling at people who weren't even present. You'll hear it, and we'll get into it was that low and more as we continue, and then NBA teams are likely to tank for guys like this. And it is ruining the sport. It's not the only sport it's ruining. We're going to get into that heavily. Stay with us. Get up ESPN. We have a really good half hour coming your way here on ESPN's get up, and it will begin with an argument. I'm not even gonna bother trying to pretend to be anything else. Lebron James to hear what they said about him on the jump yesterday. Didn't make sense. We'll talk about it and five minutes, then can Aaron Rogers adapt at this stage of his career, Dan Lobski ways in and then at nine forty five eastern, please be with us for a conversation..

"All I know is that Pete Harnisch started the game for the med. Yes. And they just beat them up. You nailed it. You're hundred percent round. Never forget the Mets any Enke's. If I'm not mistaken, the Yankees opened in Oakland, and I'm going to confirm that right now because the season was nineteen ninety seven ninety seven that is the one year. I remember where they did the warm weather schedule. They put teams either on the west coast or in domes or in the south, and I get it. It's smart. I totally understand that. I hated it. Because I think there is something special about the first game of the season being in your own building. Now, there is something special about opening day. And the Mets don't have it this year the ankles do the first game the Yankees play. This year is at Yankee Stadium against the Orioles. The first game the Mets play is on the road. It's in Washington. The home opener. It's exciting. But there is something extra special about that first game being at home. So I understand the point they've tried it once for whatever reason they haven't done it since but in one thousand nine hundred seven both the Mets and the Yankees opened up with like nine game really long road trip. Right, right. And here's the other thing that the Mets did that was so embarrassing. So the medicine is both open on the road. So their home, openers we're going to be on the same day at the same time on a Friday and the Mets didn't want to be embarrassed. Remember, this is ninety seven the Yankees the defending world champ. Right. Right. So they moved opening day off a Friday to a Saturday. So they were all Thursday and Friday because they didn't want to go head to head with the Yankees. And then that Saturday game got rained out. So the Mets opened the season with a double header on a Sunday. I think against the giants for some reason. I don't remember that. Yeah. Well, I remember it because I was kicked about right, right? I thought it was so pathetic. They did win eighty eight games that you had a good year that that is true more. More clock was like they had like their number one starter Mark laws. He did. He was good. Yeah. You're right. Eric is in the Bronx, Eric how are you? What's going on? You got some great memories. I love this guy. It's not always great. But yeah. Listen, I called up about this whole robotic on piloting. I you guys a tremendous baseball fans. This is my take. I I. Boeing that you've got the human element in but baseball worst enemy with regard to the strike some. As many as I coached playing all that good stuff. Sin Song is called based on the aesthetic. Somehow the catcher catches the ball, which is ridiculous. That's why it's not letters to the knee below those tried to implement the like what more recently, which is a good thing because it is a strike right under the leverage. But you'll see a guy set up on the outside corner. How many times? Is in a game on the outside corner. The pitcher misses his Mark in the ball sailed over the middle because the catch glove too much the ball mayor split the plate and it's a ball because it looked ugly on how he caught it or or the catcher puts his nipple. Oh, the knee looking for a ball down the pitcher MRs Mark he has to raise his bit to to the catcher's helmet. Right. Above the belt, and it's a ball because of how he caught it. Right. So my point is that he can make the human data calling game buyers more accountable for their strike zone and stop if worst enemy the coaches of the first one chirping about how the catch the ball. And that's not a strike. But we all we know what your story. That that's that's my point with it. Stop worrying about how the guy looks when he catches the ball the cost of the plate or it is the right height. Or does. You're right. I mean, unfortunately, it's a big factor. That's why pitch framing has become such a big deal these days because it does have an impact on the empire calling baller strike. They're gonna toy around with these robot. Empires they're going to do with in the Atlantic league that announced real realistically robot. Empires. Well, so, you know, the Atlantic league with the Long Island ducks not now. Now, are you telling me not? We're not I'm not sitting there watching her game MARTINI games. Every game. Exactly. So major league baseball announced yesterday for the first time, I think ever the major leagues and this independent league, the Atlantic electronic strikes. No, they have an agreement the two leagues and as part of the deal. They're going to use the Atlantic to try things such as the robot strike zone because there are things that major league baseball wanna try in the minor leagues that they can never get players on board with in fact, exactly one question. I really want to ask James Paxton as a pitcher one of the ideas. I don't mean to blow your mind with this. If you haven't heard it yet one of the things they want to try is moving the mound back. Really? Yes. Al far back. I don't know. And I have no idea what the outcome would be. I'm curious. I don't get what what point that what what why you would want to the why is that more guys are throwing a hundred than ever before. And because of a law CDs are up maybe by moving the back a little bit. It'll even things out and help the hitter a little bit more because guys are throwing a hundred more than ever. I have no idea what the outcome. Would be they can never try that in the minor leagues. Because the union would be ticked off. Yeah. Now, you mentioned right. The domestic around in the Atlantic league. I don't mean disrespect to the Atlantic league. But who the healthcare nobody, right? So it's a good deal because they can try weird wacky things in this league. And it's not going to bother you. It's not going to bother me. It's a way to see what it looks like. I personally have no idea. What moving back with do sixty feet six inches is institution. You can't do that. Well, you can't have it. If it means something goes, right, right? I don't know what it means slow amount. Again, they're talking about that too. That's the other may try again. So so a few of the things they may try in this Atlantic lead is league is moving the mound back and our last caller sorta referred to robot empires, which I know you're a fan. I am. I am definitely by the way. I'm watching we're watching. Now, they got the Nolan aeronautic press conference on. He's been on ten minutes already Nolan. Our Nado is not said a word. GM? Is this the only nice guy? I'm not sure. Unbelievable odor GM. Yeah. Yeah. We paid them black sitting here. He hasn't said a word either. I'm just saying they just give him an extension. Did they gave him? Right. That's a great deal though, that I got that sure. For the Rockies for baseball. It's good to have a guy spend potentially his whole career with the same team and good for and now he doesn't have to worry about can I hit outside, of course, still playing eighty one games. Of course, feel James Paxton a little bit later on Daniel. Jeremiah is gonna join us at twelve noon, and we'll have another opportunity to win New York. "Sports center on ESPN radio all throughout the day passing tweet it out. Yeah. I was just gonna tell you. Yep. Seem had Jeff passan tweeted out. I wish he did it in all he can't tweet out and voice, right? Video of doing it. Now, my voice I tweeted out that third base been Nolan Arranhado of the Rockies finalizing an eight year contract extension worth more than fifty five million dollars deal includes an opt out after three seasons and would make him the largest purse per year salary of any position player in baseball. I tell you man, the Phillies gotta pull this offer today. I don't know how that story correlates with the Phillies of Bryce Harper story. But the Phillies Paul this offer today. Let me ask you this. I think it's a good deal for the Rockies because if you look at his splits. He's clearly a much better player at home than he is on the road like a three twenty hitter on at Coors and like to sixty hitter. And all the numbers, go down slugging on base or whatever. When he's on the road. So for them. That's a smart move. Because if he actually had to test free agency, I'm sure he'd get a big payday, but smart GM's are going to look at that. Right. Right. Well, he was he was available last year. Right. The Yankees missed out on on him. And I don't remember if that was the case I thought the because you've got an extension here to a current contract that he had it for the Yankees had a shot at him last year. I'm guessing his numbers are better than Bryce Harper. I'm just guessing I don't know we could look it up. I guess, but I know he splits are bad because when I had passing on my l a radio show he was telling me at the time. He didn't think harbor was coming to LA, and he said that the dodgers were going to try to go in on Nolan aeronautic because he was a free agent next year and. But I was worried about it. Because like, yeah. His his numbers outside of Coors are just they're okay. They're not great. Like, they are when he's at court. I'm trying to look about right now. What Bryce Harper for the dodgers? Do you want that? I do. Yeah. Selfishly? I want more personalities where I'm doing a radio show every day. Absolutely. Why wouldn't I I mean you have enough out there? I mean, got me LeBron daddy LeBron brings it every day..

"You so much for hanging out with me. It is the hot stove our here. I can't be tonight. Seven eight all we're talking about is yo-. San Francisco Giants are really what's going on in the world of baseball. Not too much. Obviously, drew Pomeranz. How does that move the needle for you giants fans feel good about that one? Actually like that move. Actually, it's a low risk move. Getting drew Pomeranz over the big move that the giants made today. Yeah. Drew? I liked the name and Pomeranz I like that name as well. Obviously, he's no stranger to the bay area was affiliated with the as, but these are the kind of moves that I expect for Hanta make in this first year of this new position that he's in everybody wants to big splash. Everybody wants a big name big bat not to happen. Now going to happen this year twenty nine hundred for the giants. I think he's going to be recalibrate reset refocus. I don't. See a whole lot of major splashes going down. Maybe not until July. The trade deadline. Because that's I'm standing firm on my position. Then when it comes to Madison, Bumgarner he will be moved this year twenty nineteen and it's not gonna be before spring training. It's not going to be before opening day if Madison Bumgarner, and I do believe if n win he is moved. It is going to happen at the trade deadline because I'm trying to drill this into your head. What is Madison? Bumgarner greatest asset. Is the fact that he can pick it up postseason. Right. And when you get to the trade deadline. I have a feeling that there's going to be a few teams out there. They're going to be famished for a guy like Madison Bumgarner in the rotation because they're gonna make a push for the postseason. So therefore, they be may be a little bit more desperate and willing to give up more for Madison Bumgarner than they would now. January twenty third. That's what I think. So the huge move that's going to happen this year. That's the big move. I think's gonna happen Madison gets moved but not until July. So these little moves like this with Pomeranz and signing Harlan. Look, this is fantastic. I love all these. But this is exactly what I expected from Farhan for hunt and the front office to do this entire winter when he took the job his background how he's operating there's so much on the table Franson, and I have discussed this at length. Frans trying to do two things at once. He's trying to get the major league roster set to compete in the show at the same time trying to build up a very depleted form system, that's incredibly difficult. It's incredibly difficult is incredibly difficult to do one or the other concentrate our major league roster or concentrate in the minor leagues. Imagine trying to do both at once. That's why I think for twenty nineteen you're going to have to block lend a little bit giants fans. It's not going to be this. You know, down to the wire can they sneak into the wild card is not gonna be September. And August, and we're talking about the giants making a playoff push. It's not going to have. I really don't see that happening. We'll talk about twenty twenty. Maybe maybe because then maybe we're talking about Joey bark. Around twenty twenty twenty nineteen. It's not a lost here. It's just let's observe on the moves maybe by the end of the year, we can figure out exactly the route that they are taking because right now, it's just a bunch of jigsaw puzzle pieces on far Hans desk, and he's tried to put them all together. I don't think you know throughout is. I don't know what the route is. I really don't even know if the giants route is the route is that they want to take right now at this moment. I don't so we're just gonna wait. Again, these moves maybe don't move the needle. They're not sexy names and not going to get you excited for twenty nineteen giants baseball. But look at the big picture. It's all gonna make sense in the end. I truly truly believe that. Yes up. How are you? How are you? I'm doing great. How you doing very good happy Wednesday, sir. Happy Wednesday do to our boyfriend. He's out. For evening. She'll be back on Friday, though. I'm assuming yes, you'll leave act Friday already very good. We do have Pavin Diddy coming up and Austin Slater along with Gerry Goffin, the eight o'clock hour will transition to the NFL at eight o'clock right now, we'll talk a hostile what's on your mind friend. Well, I just like the signing a whole bunch. It's a low risk like you said there's three point five nine incentives. What getting back to what Frank talks about with far? Han is that he's trying to build a roster where it's multiple pieces in it where you have a guy that fits we talked about the jigsaw where he can fit into multiple different positions. So the expanding that twenty five man roster into a fifteen man roster. And with Pomeranz you have a guy that can come out of the bullpen or be a starter as well. And he's coming off a seventeen win season in two thousand seventeen he's got upside to be a starter. No worst case scenario is a million dollar bullpen guy. And he produces it's it's a low risk move. Like we were just talking about. I have no problem with this is just the fact that you look giants fans are. Going to start signing and that big X hail. Really pomeranz. That's the move. You're going to make that doesn't get me excited for an eighteen blame giants fan for thinking that way. But again, let's slow play this. I've been saying this for months, it is going to be slow burn with this. Now, you go through nineteen you go through twenty get a little bit better than what happens at the end of twenty twenty one. I've been saying this for a while at the end of twenty twenty one. Do you know who is a free agent? His name's Mike trout. That guys kind of get. Yeah. Why don't we just sit back as they try to unravel the plan here? Maybe go for trout and twenty twenty one. That's what I think. Because I I'm going to be sick and tired of doing this every offseason. I'm gonna be sick and tired of talking about the biggest Dame available. Every winter for the giants. We did it last year was Carlo. We did it again this year with Manny and Bryce it's not happening. Let's take a break from that conversation for a couple of years. See what the giants are. And then maybe the next name. I wanna hear when he's available as far as the big name coming over. Here is Mike trout. I'm not gonna do it. Again. I'm not gonna do it. Again this winter, and I'm not gonna do it again in twenty twenty about oh, they need to get him. He's a big bat. He's a big name is. I'm not doing it. We've been doing it for three years in a row. It's ridiculous. Well, next next year is going to be Nolan aeronautic go. I don't wanna hear it though. Okay. Then you don't we're going to do what we're going to dreamers here. We're going to bitch and moan about go. Get a look what happened. What if the giants was ninety games again this year? What happens you still you'll lose? I can't lose facing forearm after one year now. But we're going to sit there. We're going to sit there in November December nineteen and we need our not. Oh, why don't they are not? Oh. And the morning so is going to get pissed off at Al giants fan could be irritates not gonna happen. We have to figure out the route. They want take we have to. We don't know. What it is yet? It's gonna take a minute. I don't think giants fans should write off the season. Just yet. You never know. What's going to happen in baseball? If you look at the roster. It's all. I love that. You're so positive. I know you're thinking about you. And I love that. You just have this half is glass for outlook. But in reality the giants are not going to compete for. I don't see it happening. I just don't and that's not a bad thing. It's just okay. I don't wanna go through the last two years. We've had. But now that we've got a guy in there and far haunt who. I have faith in I trust as a fan. I'm still going to spend money to go. See this teams. I love my giants. But it's not gonna I don't expect it to happen overnight. And that's why that's why I want everyone to change their minds. That's the narrative it's not gonna happen in one off-season probably won't even happen in two off seasons. Well, I wouldn't expect anything I in four. Now. I think it's more of a never say never because baseball baseball's a funky game in all of a sudden all of a sudden guys getting hurt and other teams in the division. And now the giants are starting to pick up. You just don't know. And that's why you play the game. That's why there's one hundred sixty two games. So before going into the season. It doesn't look it. There's a lot of question marks. There's a lot of pieces that need to be filled in. I think when Bryce Harper mania Machado get to that point when when they sign everything's gonna start to fall the place. We've been like a record that's broken just saying that over and over again, but it's true. And when it falls it's gonna fall, and we'll see what happens then. But just you just can't write off the season before it happens because there's always that one team that comes out of nowhere. I mean, wasn't that the giants in two thousand ten. Yup. Someone's agreed with the right now for five when I'm definitely with F P on this because there is always crazy runs when people expect to lease in baseball another from six five other guy, they could have gotten yelich big miss. I mean look at analysts last year. The nationals are supposed to kill everybody. And they ended up not doing so. Well, and then the of Braves who had the Braves last year. Well, nobody division. I didn't see that talent rising up in the fashion that they did for for Atlanta has got a great my favorite vision. Yeah. Interesting rate division. All right. Let's get to Pavin daddy. He's gonna hop. All this as we continue the hot stove time..
