"Know this was an ensemble group where they all work together. You know it felt very, there is a purpose for every character. It wasn't just a to move the plot forward. So the cat doctor was dope. You like Cadillac a cat Dr, yeah that's because my next question was, what did you not like about? I was GONNA say the Cat Doctor What did you not like about the cat now I didn't mind the cat died. How would I don't like is the Again this nitpicking. But if I had kids and I don't thank God and you know hopefully I don't. Had, kids. I would want them to watch star Trek and I don't want to sit there and have to click mute or whatever when there's a character cussing and that was a beauty about starts going up they were cutting yes. There are a couple of towards the a couple times. I just flows right through. Like I feel like if you're gonNA, do I know it's adult cartoon and maybe it's Nitpick on this but you've already done with discovery you are with card. Can we do one show where you don't you're not dropping F bombs or whatever you know what I mean that would just be nice if you could just do one show or if I had kids in a mirror universe that I can have them, watch it without having to freak out about what's going to be showing on the screen. You know what I mean. Let me ask you this if this is outside of what we're supposed to be doing on this show than I just nothing's outside. Yeah. Now for the lower deck's Did you watch Batman. When you were a kid yes lead Batman did you like Nolan's Batman? Yes. Why is that Batman allowed to change but star Trek isn't I agree with you actually but I'm just curious why one can change one can mean so did I watch nine, hundred, sixty, six Batman without him last and then watch Nolan our Christopher Nolan's Batman. So here's the thing nineteen, sixty, six, I mean just the Batman cartoon yes there drastically different. Well, I do think that I think Dordrecht can grow. It doesn't have to stay the same, but there's still should be it's Batman Dark Knight or whatever I can still watch there's violence sure and there was violence in nineteen eighty nine with Keaton's Batman and it's still dark and has got that tone. So I don't think it changes necessarily the actual tone of it how you present it maybe a little bit different. I think you can grow I think when when Star Trek was I started nine, hundred and sixty six, my history is correct. It inspired so many people kids were looking at watching it. Your imagination were you know go was on fire and they became scientists and engineers and all this stuff and if you if you segregate. You know and you make star Trek only for a certain grouper. You gotta be this age or over to watch it and all this stuff i. feel like you're missing out your kids are missing out on something. You know what I mean. You're way too way too into it man I got a couple of customers are ruin no no, I'm not talking about. No No. No. I'm just talking about. He's asked me in general in general. I'm not talking about this particular show I'm just saying why can't there be a show? That is for everybody. Why does it have to be? Why do we have to go so far? There's a wait even on radio. There's a way that you can talk about something without show it just because you can show something doesn't mean you have to you can present a story. You can present idea without having to just bull in a China shop at and actually show you know what I mean. Does that make any? Sense and I'm going to bench different tangents. But that's kind of what I think. They answer your question all no. Not at all I know what you're saying it's comes down to kids though right and I'm not saying that is comparable necessarily what we're talking about because I mean star. Trek Card and star Trek discovery does things they're just like insanely not kid friendly rum but like I don't know how. Excited I'd be to watch to have my six year old see the magic trick with the Pencil Yeah but I wouldn't have that issue If we go back ten years with Obama because they're not gonna have stuff like that. Right? Right and I guess my only my only point is I understand I actually don't disagree but the argument that comes back is well, all these other shows have grown up with with watch them because they're trying to get people who watch them when their kids and so. You know what's what's the conversation or the counter behind that I don't necessarily disagree with you. It's just I've I've heard that argument a lot asking and I wouldn't say it. It goes for every franchise right? Batmans. Different You know there's a lot of Star Trek. There's certain shows like Star Trek. Even say twilight zone there's a certain thing that. You expect from those franchises. They're kind of held to a higher standard and when you kind of bring him down to everybody's level, you know it's it's kind of disrespectful I I. Don't know I wanNA use your vocabulary James the spirit of the show we can keep right Zakaria other show. Yeah. Yeah. There was cuss words and didn't need to have any. Notice man that's crazy. Again you. Know if it was the enterprise theme song. Would you Out of spider, Let's just put it this way if you had a child. And heard talk for the last however, and would you want your child to watch enterprise with that theme song on their? No, it's an atrocity. Child care. If the child can do whatever as long as I don't have to hear it, that's fine. Might have to call the services the child service. I'll put them on speed dial you're watching that and they're for so first off, they have a all nude Hologram holographic program that's very detailed that we that we learn about and you're you know point thought man this might not be friend kid'll this might not be On assessment that is just not something that ever crossed my mind..

Fear Of Death Is Contagious In The Psychological Thriller 'She Dies Tomorrow'

"Our film critic Justin Chang says, she dies tomorrow feel surprisingly in tune with our present moment of unease. Everything you need to know going into sheet is tomorrow is pretty much right there in the title. This moody and more deadly funny psychological horror film opens on a young. Woman. Who Awakens one morning with a horrifying from edition of doom she believes that she's going to die tomorrow and it sends her into an eerily calm. Almost Zombie like trance. She wanders the rooms of her recently purchased lock home. She plays Mozart's requiem repeatedly on a record player and shops online for an urn to hold her cremated remains. She never explains why she thinks her death is imminent, but the look on her face is so grave and haunted that we find ourselves believing it to. The woman played by the excellent actress Caitlin she'll is named amy. Not. Coincidentally, that's also the name of the filmmaker amy scientists who has said that the movie was inspired by her own experiences with anxiety and her recognition of how easily that panic could affect those around her. And she dies tomorrow the fear of death proves contagious. The mere act telling someone that you're going to die tomorrow is enough to plant the idea that they are going to die tomorrow and so on and so on. The first person amy tells is her friend Jane played with a sharp comic edge by Jane Addams who thinks she's being ridiculous but the seed has been planted by the time Jane stops by her brother's house where a birthday party for her sister in law is in full swing she too has come to believe that she's going to die tomorrow. And once she voices this fear, the other party guests, it's only a matter of time before they also succumb. In the montage you're about to hear Simon's uses thunderously loud music written by Mondo boys and wild strobe lighting effects to achieve startling moments of operatic intensity. I'm going. To die. Tomorrow. Throughout the movie in these feverishly heightened intervals, Simon seems to be expressing level of horror that the characters themselves cannot. Jane's brother and sister in law. That's Christmas Gina and Katie Nolan do panic a little over what will happen to their daughter when they're both gone. But for the most part, everyone here tends to retreat into their own private moods showing little concern for others Jennifer Kim plays a party guest who abruptly breaks off a relationship something she'd been meaning to do for months. Her now ex boyfriend played by tune had been bay does something much more frighteningly impulsive. Interestingly no one really tries to ward off the crisis or even figure out what's going on a sense of futility sets in and stays there. There's something troublingly resonant for me about the characters inertia. Speaking as someone who's able to work from home and hasn't suffered so many have during the pandemic I'm not afraid of dying tomorrow but I recognize something of myself incitements as characters, the ones who retreat into a state of false calm maybe because screaming and expressing how they really feel might be too horrible or flat out exhausting to bear. I don't want to overstate the metaphorical implications of she is tomorrow, which was made well before the pandemic. But Simon's clearly has her finger on something about how people might respond or not respond to an invisible threat. She's made a fascinating disaster movie of the mind. This is the second feature scientists as written and directed seven years after her debut film. The lovers on the run drama sun don't shine. She's worked for more than a decade as an actor writer director and producer rooted in the independent film world, but with increasing forays into Hollywood. She's one of the key creative forces behind the TV series, the girlfriend experience, and you might also have seen her performances in recent studio thrillers like Alien Covenant and Pet cemetery a role that helped her finance this much lower budget horror movie. Depending on your persuasion, don't like she dies tomorrow might not sound like ideal pandemic viewing but I think one of the great virtues of the horror genre is that it can put our own fears into perspective. There can be enormous value in confronting our feelings of dread had on and feeling a sense of kinship with characters who are confronting there's to. Sign it's doesn't provide easy answers. She also doesn't tell us if her characters worries are justified. She closes the movie on a note, picked between serenity and alarm leaving us to wonder if the end is as near as it seems or tomorrow might, in fact, be another day.

"Welcome to film spotting, we will get to our Nolan Review Awards. Later in the show, we might have an for those awards picked out by. Then we might not. We will share our awards for favourite supporting performance and lead performance from this retrospective of the work of Christopher Nolan will also share our picks for best Nolan moment in the overall best moment or seen after we have revisited all ten of Nolan's films and that will culminate with our Christopher Nolan rankings. The definitive Christopher ranking for each of us one to ten will there be some shifting Adam Gimme a tease. Shifts definitely from the last time, I posted a Nolan ranking on letterbox. There's been some movement Yep me too one I think you'll like I don't know if you'll like it enough, but you will like it I though the World War Two movie from Christopher Nolan that we didn't know we needed dunkirk. The enemy tanks stop. Why? Why waste precious tanks when they can pick from the. Barrel. Their full hundred thousand men only speech. Your position. Josh, coming into this rewatch was that done kirk is Christopher, Nolan's best film and there's at least one longtime listener and regular commentator who agrees with you that we are culminating this overview triumphantly with the filmmakers greatest achievement Adam Grossman in Vancouver says like many of us. I've completed my Christopher Nolan Review. Biggest takeaway hoover is a really hard were dispel. Well, second takeaway. I've decided dunkirk is Nolan's career highpoint while my heart loves interstellar the most good on you Adam and I. Hugely Admire. and. The Dark Knight for what they meant to Action Cinema and Superhero movies respectively dunkirk is his masterpiece got laid down for you tenant. I just don't know how anyone could argue that the legend of dunkirk could be told any better the setup and the first eight minutes alone from the falling paper from the sky to the distress. Cry of where's the bloody air force is a wonder of a short film. In itself, the lack of dialogue works perfectly for what this movie wants to achieve with. Hans. Zimmer's relentless scored doing all the audio work that's necessary among all the chaos. There are frequent moments of grace. Kenneth. Branagh face as Commander Bolton as the cavalry arrives in the form of the civilian vessels the empathy as Peter Tells Killian Murphy's PTSD soldier. The young George will be okay and no moment more than the shot. Be Okay and no more than a shot of Tom Hardy's planes silently gliding over the beaches of dunkirk knowing his job has been done. dunkirk is also uniquely Christopher Nolan Movie One where his signature use of time has never melded together better and more cohesively than it does in the final twenty minutes of this film while Dunkirk will understandably never be a wholly enjoyable or easy rewatch. It's one that gets richer and richer with repeat viewing. Now, Adam Mention Nolan signature use of time, and that is one aspect of dunkirk among others that certainly connects to his entire body of work. But there are other aspects that Mark Dunkirk is unique. It is only film that is based on historical events, which means it is inherently rooted in the past and yet I'd argue it is only film that truly feels present tense meeting there are no. Dead parents or wives or forsaken children or other tragic events haunting the air's barrier played by Tom. Hardy the Moles Army private Tommy fiene whitehead or for the most part the sees Mr Dawson played by Mark Rylance like all Nolan protagonist there's plenty of personal sacrifices on display but no guilt no sense of futility about toning past actions just the seemingly futile need to survive the current event that they. Are Tragically experiencing here's something else that argues unique about dunkirk as we every other commentator on Dolan's work is discussed in some form or fashion for all those dead parents and wives and foresaken children. There's nothing so emotional or borderline sentimental in any of his previous films as the climax of inception and yes, mileage may vary there which led to interstellar and not only mcconaghy's crushing breakdown watching twenty three. Years Worth of miss video messages from his family but the verbalize message love is the one thing we're capable of proceeding that transcends dimensions of time and space. Maybe we should trust that even if we can't understand it, it's hard to imagine any character in previous Christopher Nolan movies saying something like that which led to Dunkirk am I crazy josh this is his most blatantly sentimental and even heart film. And if so is that what establishes Dunkirk as his best its balance of coldness the sober portrayal of the hell of war of life in the misguided choices, some men will make when facing death with warmth. In the compassionate inspiring choices some men will make to maintain a way of life. So a lot of subtleties in that question and you're onto something so you're not crazy I think I would distinguish. The word blatantly, I. Don't think this is blatantly emotional or moving, but I do think you're onto something in the fact that it is maybe his most heartwarming in where it ends up and let me kind of try to parse those. You're right as long as the Nolan Canon has convulsing McConnell. Interstellar is going to be his most blatantly emotional I mean you can't have a scene like that without registering that on it surface. That's his most emotional movie. But I will also say that I find Dunkirk to be his most emotionally affecting movie maybe even more. So than inception, which we about how I did find that very moving especially in the character of Mal. So yet dunkirk is really a unique thing even as it's working within the strands and trends that we have been tracing in Nolan's other films, I. Think the heartwarming aspect is probably a part of that. You've nailed it there in that it brings us to a place that. Is One of Constellation and I think it's earned because I think up until that point we have just been suffering alongside all of these other characters in so many ways and we've also been recognizing as the movie does that this is You know a an account of a military failure, a huge defeat and so for the movie to kind of offer, some sort of solace at the end of that I think is. In proportion and well

"All right, so tell us who you are and what you do. Fred Nolan and I am a visual storyteller now before we get more into your visual storytelling work and your background and everything I've been asking everyone because we're recording this now during this pandemic. But how are you holding up? You know I'm hanging in there. It helps to know that I'm not the only one doing this. You know when you know that. Misery loves company. And we're all pretty miserable right now. If. If I was the the quarantined one, it would feel terrible, but. I'm hanging. I've got I've got friends. You know I've got my family I've got like this tiny bubble. I can go to. Some good. How has been out there? In California I know that I think as we're recording this now. Cases have been spiking there. They have been. It's getting Kinda scary I live in Oakland and Alameda County and the east side of Oakland, has had a huge rise in covid in covid spread My neighborhood has been pretty safe I. Think and people are being properly cautious. You don't see people out, not wearing masks. When you're walking down the street people automatically one or the other of you will hop into the street toge- the other room, so I feel confident that the people in my space are doing what needs to be done to stay safe, but yeah, it's. It's like I. I was thinking that we would continue to see the curve trend down, and it's upsetting, but it's not. Yeah, it's I know that people have been getting out and really just. Not Following social distancing. We've seen news reports and such. Of course there were spikes from Memorial Day now we're coming up on independence day I don't know if there's going to be other spikes, but if we just see the behavior that happened back in May than that's possible, it is, it is scary. Especially you know. I think California's probably better than a lot of states in terms of the mandate for wearing face masks in public and such like here in Georgia, they they don't care. Here we had about three weeks of lockdown, and then they were like me. The odds be in your favor. After that. Yeah. Ben Resistance in in the more rural areas of California, so you Moran or you go out to like the Central Valley especially I guess it kind of follows the political map, so the more conservative the area, the more resistance there is to taking basic precautions, yeah, speaking of the pandemic of their the way that I found out about you assault one of your comics. How have your has been? my days. Aren't that changed? Honestly because I work from home anyway and I'm I tend to be kind of a loner. Mike you know bike? I'm not a real social butterfly. The way in which it has been difficult is I'm I'm single without any possibility of not being single for it? The known future like who knows Ilan That's been tricky. How did you get started with doing comics with the New Yorker. The director the director actually found me Emma Allen. and. Christopher Nolan's Sci-FI Thriller 'Tenet' Delayed Indefinitely

"Off Hollywood's calendar indefinitely. NPR's Bob Mondello reports They have a season killing ripple effect when the rest of Hollywood was backing away from opening dates in May and June. All I have for you is a word, everyone in the business put their faith in Christopher Nolan sci fi thriller, It'll open the right doors. Some of the wrong ones. Two doors tenant needed to open our in multiplexes. All the movie studios have been pushing back theatrical openings over concern about the pandemic, with some titles, even jumping straight to streaming. But Warner Brothers and director Nolan, whose blockbusters inception, Dunkirk and the Batman Dark Knight trilogy have made billions of dollars on the big screen were adamant that there $200 million thriller would be the 10th pole that would hold up the summer moviegoing tent. When theater chains got open, they said tenant would bring the crowd is about survival for theater owners. It is about survival all through the spring, Nolan and Warners held firm. That they would premiere tenant in cinemas on July 17. But as it became clear that theater chains would not be fully opened by this past weekend, that date slipped first to July 31 then 2 August 12 and now Warner's has taken tenant off its release calendar, promising to quote share a 2020 release date. Imminently Endquote TheStreet. Dio also said it would not be giving tenant a traditional global day and date release industry speak for opening all over the planet at once. Warner's didn't specify what a nontraditional release might look like. That part is a little dramatic Speculation in film circles has been that given the rising number of covert 19 cases in the U. S, and the flattening of curves elsewhere. A studio might try premiering tenant overseas, Christopher Nolan blockbusters tend to do 2/3 of their business in foreign countries and some major territories, South Korea, Japan, China and a few European markets have been re opening cinemas predicting box office grosses in that sort of fragmented here, and their release, though, would require a crystal ball or the abilities of the film's leading man with a future. Inversions without those powers. Let's just note that in China and South Korea when cinemas have reopened, they've done so with stringent social distancing protocols and fewer Showtime's to allow for deep cleaning of auditoriums. Theaters operating at, say 30% of their usual capacity will not be turning out a lot of box office records. That will also be true at cinemas in the US and of course, some of the biggest movie markets here are still in one form or another of lock down. It would be unprecedented to premiere a major blockbuster and not play New York or Los Angeles on opening weekend. But right now, A lot of things are unprecedented. Bob Mondello NPR news

Summer Movies 2020: What to Stream, What's Delayed

"Pandemic has totally thrown summer movie season for a loop. Lots of movies are going straight to streaming. Judd apoptosis and our Shirley's the roads and our welfare, but which streaming movies are really worth your time. And what will the pandemic mean for the film industry, and are we ever actually going to see tenant? The Big Budget Christopher Nolan Sci fi flick scheduled to come out in August. Will we ever see that on the big screen where it is meant to be seen? Well the answer to that question may actually be never. We just found out. That film has been delayed indefinitely, but there's still a lot more to discuss and here to talk us through it. Is Eliana Dr Men? She writes about movies and pop culture and Feminism for time Eliana. Hi, hi, how's it going good? How are you? Good holding up. So I think my first question just has to be like. Is there a summer blockbuster season this year? What happened? Yeah, I feel like saying. There's no summer blockbuster. Season is a little road to the movies that have come out on Vod vod meaning video demand, because a lot of stuff is just going straight to streaming racked. Yes, the things that are going straight to streaming which there have been some good things. But this certainly has not had the momentous feel of a usual summer where I convince my closest friends to go spend a ridiculous money to go see a movie in amax because it's summer and that's what you do. That is not happening. Hollywood has been a little circumspect about that. Keep moving movies that they insist have to count in theaters with good reason for some of 'em a movie like ten it would be much less fun to watch for the first time at home, but they keep sort of delaying it by two week increments, and delaying delaying delaying and I suspect that those delays will go into twenty twenty want, but we'll see. Yet kind of reminds me of early on in pandemic times it was probably like late maybe mid late February, when I found out that the the new James Bond movie was being delayed. Because that was supposed to come out in April. And they decided they moved it to like November. But I remember it was one of the first moment sitting at work when I saw the news where I was like. Oh. This pandemic is real. Yeah that was at the time I remember. Having discussions internally at time and just thinking personally. It's crazy that they're big to November. Why would they be November now? They look like geniuses because they sort of as this has continued to happen. All of these movies are rushing to find different dates, and I've sort of compared. You know finding the right movie release date to picking perfect wedding date. You don't want overlap with another big release that would. Not all the guests are going to come. And you also want to find a weekend when you know. A lot of people are free, so holiday weekends are always big Christmas thanksgiving Labor Day that sort of thing, so there's been just this total crush of movies. Where right now if things go the way that they are currently planned? We're just going to have a million movies released in November and December I. Don't think that that will actually happen, but they sort of James Bond beat everyone to the punch by claiming that date early. Right naming you know here. We are coming up on August. August like who knows what November's even GonNa. Look like yeah, exactly so I do think that most of those movies will probably move to twenty twenty one as well who knows, but it's sort of worst on such an ad hoc basis with all of this right now that I think the studios are also concerned and confused of course, so yeah, obviously you can't tell the future, but I do wonder like. Do you have a sense? You know you say? Probably? A million movies are gonNA drop in November December early. That's kind of the planet this point. is they're then going to be just like a huge drop off because of the stuff that should have been produced over the course of this year. That wasn't able to be because of the pandemic. I don't think we'll actually see that. Drop off until twenty twenty two because a lot of big movies that were supposed to come out this year like I remember another big kind of moment of this pandemic was real is when fast and furious nine moved from a spring of twenty, trying to spring of two thousand, twenty one, which also it doesn't the one that's taking place on Mars or something I think that the rumor is that they. I think that the actual poll of this. Is that this character Han? Who is very unjustly killed off a few movies ago, Mac so there's a whole justice for Han. A whole separate on my fast furious. Good to know. Just in case you're looking for. You on the list. So a lot of those movies have waited a full year. The top gun movie was delayed till Christmas. I think actually, but there are few other movies that have been delay pushed it back a full year. Yeah, push back a full year, so I think we will still get a crowded summer twenty twenty. One I think that we're really going to see the impact. In Twenty, twenty two where the delays in filming movies are are actually going to sort of manifest and that will be very strange. That's really interesting. So you say you don't want to do a disservice to the movies that have come out this summer that have gone straight to streaming services. What do you think are some the standouts that people shouldn't miss so I? Think that a few things have come out that have been great and entertaining, one big standout and profit by saying a lot of these movies are going to be on Netflix. Because Netflix was just more prepared for this than anybody else. WHO Like match? A four site that a pandemic was going to happen, but just by virtue of they drop a new movie every week at this point and write them have to be good. I think. The five bloods, which is Spike Lee movie that dropped on that flicks on June twelfth, and is h front runner in the very weird Oscar season. We're GONNA. Have a mom so far is definitely a standout. I think that that's one that is well worth people's time especially because there are going to be so few kind of prestige, Oscar movies that I think come out the series. Well that if you want to turn Oscar Susan that that is the way to go, okay so that one stands out I mean Hamilton. I watched as soon as dropped and APPS as. Everyone else I talked to did and I think they did a really good job of translating that to screen. Obviously, there's some reconsideration of Hamilton right now and rate. How good of a job it does! reckoning with the racism of the time. But I do think that unlike a lot of sort of problematic properties that were dealing with the summer lamelo Miranda has sort of owned up in participated in that conversations would say watch it with a grain of salt, and then go right you an internet deep dive. Researcher Slavery. And Google Hamilton slavery and just set aside a few hours for that So I think that stands out, I also really loved Palm Springs I'll too I just saw over the weekend, and I thought it was delightful. It felt like. Again try not to shade net flicks too much, but palm springs is one of the first movies released in quarantine that felt like an actual movie to me. and this came on Hulu. It came out on Hulu. It was the biggest purchase out of Sundance ever how it was supposed to be released in theaters. It was very much treated as an indie movie, but a big indie movie randy's hamburger than most people know about these days right and lonely island Andy. Sandberg's group produced it There's some Hollywood power behind it, but it felt like a fully finished movie with. With, the quirks of actual writers, directors incorporated in there and character development whereas I dunno some of the net flicks movies can feel a little bit empty to me like there was a concept and not a lot of follow through So this palm springs stood out to me. Is One a good rom com, which are hard to come by these days in to like. It felt like I would go to theater and pay money to see this movie. Yeah, totally so those are those are sort of a few that have come out so far that definitely stand out to me. As being people's time one that I've been hearing a lot about speaking of net flicks. is the old guard. I haven't watched it yet. What do you recommend it? So I do I mean? The old guard is sorta falls into that category of doesn't feel quite like a complete would be released in theaters film. And I don't. I can put my finger quite on. Why except that? I think that you know the premise of the movie is that these immortal beings are basically you know. superheroes that are constantly saving the world. I would watch that. Yeah, it's definitely entertaining, and like it's Shirley stare on shortly surrounds Great Gina Prince would who directed love and basketball won't have the greatest films of all time. Directed this and I think she does a good job. I do wish that these immortal beings were a little more interesting like if they've lived for thousands of if they had lived for thousands of years, I wish they had. More interesting quirks more things to say about the state of the world. That's a fair critique. Nothing can be perfect. It's definitely a diverted way to spend a couple of hours, and you know well worth people's time if they are looking for bad action, movies, and and kind of not even bad like. This is terrible action movie, but just like not A. Junk food. Yes, junk food. That is the perfect word for it which I mean like. Maybe the bar is really low now. Anyway. Right because it's like if I'm not leaving my house. If I got nothing to do then why not eat some junk food? You know exactly and I think that the I think that Hollywood is scared that we're going to get so used to junk food that we're not going to want to spend a little extra money on not junk food. After this is all over and that will sort of accepts. This is movies now. The netflix version of movies that feels a little bad for me and lacking in a little substance is just going to be the state of the world, and we're not going to spend the extra money to for example, see Palm Springs in theaters or see you know the Irishman in theaters vs on Netflix. To use another sort of direct networks parallel right so. What you're saying, is that essentially like if we are getting used to a lower quality than than what is our incentive to WanNa like go to the theater and spend a bunch of money. An let alone the fact that we're also like sitting. You know theoretically at least shoulder to shoulder with strangers, which is not a thing that people are super interested in doing right now during a pandemic. What do you think is sort of like the future of the movie theater industry? Like are they just doomed? Yeah, it's really hard. I mean as someone who watches a lot of movies, both in my personal life, and for work I cannot wait to get back to the movie theater. Going experience and I do think that there is that sort of feeling that once it is safe. I would happily walk several miles to go. Sit in a big theater next to some co workers or friends. Friends and watch a movie like Ted I. Wait for that to happen I am not comfortable doing right now. Though I do think that it's going to be a question of timing, and how long movie theaters can survive financially until moment where we do feel comfortable all coming back and I think that there's this fantasy that a movie like tenant or a movie like move on. It's just GonNa stuff movie theaters right off the Bat and there's going to be a moment where we all decide. Yes, this is the weekend where it's safe again. where I'm excited about going to the movies and I WANNA. Go sit next to a bunch of strangers and have them. You know spill popcorn on me. I don't think that that I. think that. That's sort of this illusive fantasy I. Don't think that that's going to be the case I. Think it's going to be a very slow trickle. I don't think people are chomping at the bit to go to the movie theaters I do think that that is why studios have been holding back the. Most expensive contents for kind of lack of a better categorization. Is because they don't want to give us Moulana streaming at home, and then have us come to expect okay I'll just wait for Milan's come onstream. I think that they want to create the incentive to go to the movie theater because it is so essential to their business. Surviving I just think that you know that means we might have many more months of not so great content. So, you're saying that it's not only like AMC theaters who need movie theaters to exist, but also Hollywood itself. Yes Hollywood definitely need movie theater to exist I mean the reason that you can make a movie like tenant for hundreds of millions of dollars is because you make. Hundreds of millions of dollars back by selling movie theater tickets. There's just no way that they can make that on Vod. It's not possible, so we'll see how they strategize it going forward, but I think sort of takeaway from this is that Netflix was already fighting it into the Hollywood. Business an Hollywood was not prepared for it, and this is just accelerating the process. So you've mentioned tenant a couple times, this is the newest is it's Sifi right from Christopher Nolan. Yes, it's a new Christopher Nolan movie. The reason I keep mentioning Tenet is because Christopher Nolan. Or Warner brothers have styled tenant as sort of the movie that is going to save the summer blockbuster season. They keep talking about is the first big movie that's going to open the movie. That's going to draw people back to theaters movie. That's GonNa save movie theaters the movie that's going to save the concept of summer blockbuster the movie that's GonNa. Make us feel better again and. I mean that sounds great i. does sound great I mean in fairness them. It's a good movie to pick to pin that on. Because Christopher Nolan is one of if not the only director left who can drop a totally original film that has nothing to do with comic book series. A book is not marble is not DC, NI, and, but this is still one of those like big loud movies. That's like perfect for a movie like a theater going experience that right, yes, yeah heart of the appeal of a movie like ten is that you see it with a big group of people rate, and then will gasp at the same reveal exactly like some of my favorite summer. Summer movie moments are the moments where you know. Something crazy happens in everybody screams. Everybody laughs I think of I. Guess is two summers ago. When the last mission impossible became out and spoiler alert for the first half hour of the mission impossible movie, there's a moment where they are jumping out of an airplane. A character gets struck by lightning and funny in this amass the lost bear market. And as well as the greatest movie memories ever had because it was just this collaborative woman just happened. And those are the best. That's amazing. That's so good well, even though we have just learned that the ten release has been delayed indefinitely, I hope cautiously optimistic that that will. That will have that again someday soon, ish. I hope so too. And in the meantime there are things to watch at home They might not be the things that we were excited about several months ago. but there are things to watch at home, and after this kind of summer movie season is over frankly studios graft figure out what to do with their Oscar contents, and I would not be surprised if a lot of them just get released straight to streaming so that they can qualify for the Oscars this year. Wow, the Oscars, which have officially been postponed right, yes, the Oscars have officially been postponed, and they've also changed their rules, so that movies that are released to streaming can qualify which is a. Huge concession on their part Isis County will change the back afterwards, but it's been a big fight in Hollywood as to whether streaming movies can count for the Oscars in hopes of saving the movie theater, going experience, and so now streaming movies will qualify and I think that's going to change the calculus for a lot of studios that aren't necessarily trying to make big money movies that they are trying to win awards. "To film spotting the last couple of weeks. Josh have seen some of the most high profile new releases we've had since movie theater shutdown back. In March Hamilton arrived on Disney plus two weeks ago. We talked about that on last week's episode also last week. I recommended Gina Prints by woods, the old guard with Charlene Darren. That came to Netflix's weekend. And that's when you caught up with Josh and they understand. You liked it. Maybe not as enthusiastically as I did, but you went forward. Okay? Yeah, consider me. Me a fan, I think I probably became a little more wearied by the gunplay. Which you mentioned was your talked about it probably a little more than you did, but yeah, definitely appreciated and think it's something that people should check out. Last weekend also saw the release of the World War Two thriller Greyhound with Tom Hanks that's on apple, plus neither of us have had a chance to see that yet, but fellow critics have assured us that the nation's fathers and grandfathers have a new favorite movie and Josh. Also last weekend, the new horror film relic available on demand. Palm Springs. The groundhog day inspired comedy which is available on. You saw relic. We both saw Palm Springs, and we'll give each of those a little bit of time later in the show, but first tires. Please cue up our review discussion of Christopher. Interstellar. We haven't mentioned our mission does not work if the people on our dead by the time you pull it off. That this far any human history, not far no! Doubt. Yes, you are yes, you are. Upon, its release in two thousand fourteen atom, we gave interstellar a robust thirty minute review. You were hugely enthusiastic. I was mixed to negative. You remain a big Fan and you've seen it sense I believe right. Yeah, all right in two thousand seventeen. They're going meter. Yup, at the music box theatre where it's going to be playing again this weekend actually here in Chicago in seventy millimeter interstellar currently ranked number two on your Nolan. List for me this. Who've review was my first revisit sense two thousand fourteen now on the two of us. The movie has a score of seventy four. Critic among critics that's considered generally favorable, and for what it's worth. Most of Nolan's movies hover around the seventies on metacritic Dunkirk. That's his highest rating there with a ninety four. So that's where we stood. But where do we stand now in two thousand twenty? Have you add them passed through a wormhole and come out on the other side to see the error of your ways have I been sucked into a black hole trapped behind some cosmic bookshelf as punishment until I admit the air of mine. We could relitigate are twenty fourteen debate. We could revisit the same points. We both brought up, but I'm not sure how fruitful that would be I'm happy to do some of that and I promise I will not bring up a certain nineteen, sixty eight sci-fi epic. You declared verboten when discussing interstellar listeners, they can revisit that whole discussion in the archives at film spotting dot net episode five fifteen. Today. I'd like to start where that review ended in a last-minute attempt to bring me on board Adam. You asked me if I wasn't just plain thrilled watching interstellar. If setting aside my complaints quibbles, I couldn't admit to having a thrilling movie going experience. I quickly answered in the negative and we moved on. Watching interstellar again, and this was before I, release into I review or even read what I had written about in two thousand fourteen. This was the exact question I found myself asking especially in the context of our overview with so many Nolan films fresh in my mind at their best. His movies do thrill me. They get me Giddy. There's always a moment. Nolan blows your Noggin, intellectually emotionally existential early, and all I can do is let out a Guffaw of appreciation. We've already talked about some of these. These moments in our overview. I think of Memento where Leonard says I'm chasing this guy. Nope he's chasing me. Or how about the image of the hats in the prestige? When we realize what's really going on here and I know you care less about it than I, do Adam, but the spinning top in those final moments of inception. Wow on twitter this week marking. The tenth. Dozens more arrests as protesters clash with police outside Seattle's former CHOP area

"Arrests in the last few days as protesters clashed with officers near the area formerly known as the Capitol Hill occupied protest or chop. In the last 24 hours, Things have been quieter. There are signs of progress. Pine Street back open to traffic for the first time in about a month. But there are still barriers on some surrounding streets like 10th and 11th. Almost Jonathan Chill tells us about the recovery underway and the plan for what will happen if protesters comebacks. Nice to come back to Cap Hill. No more police checkpoints and the lunch rush is starting to pick up again. Soy chicken wings, mango sick your eyes, Capitol Hill is starting to look like Capitol Hill before turned into the chop. Technically, this area's still closed for a few more days under the mayor's emergency order used to clear out protesters earlier in the week, But authorities say they really In Pine Street early because all the cleanup is now done. However, the presence of protesters are still here by day. It's only a few like Jada Nolan. If they don't want you crossing that line. I'm gonna cross that line. But for the past couple nights, more demonstrators joined in clashing with police near Pine and Broadway, leading to several arrests. For the last few days, the police have tested the protesters tactics and that's the protesters have tested the police tactics and if anyone has opposed on what happens next It's Omari Salisbury, an independent journalist who's captured nearly every major development on the ground. Top 5 Films of 2020 (So Far) / Inception (Nolan

"Welcome to film spotting another week another delay Josh for ten at the latest from Christopher Nolan that film now scheduled for an August twelfth release. It means I guess we can space out these final. Few films are Nolan. A little bit more. Yeah, I suppose it gives us that, but still sad news I mean obviously for both of us for most people one of the most anticipated movies of the year just to keep see it getting pushed back. Yeah, and you have to wonder whether or not August twelfth is realistic with Covid. Nineteen cases spiking all over the country. Nolan's inception, which celebrates its tenth anniversary. This year is as of this recording Josh still scheduled to return to theaters, tenants original slot on July seventeenth. So you have Nolan doing basically what we did. When the pandemic he went to his archive for content, sure and we, we went back to movies. We've for the most part already talked about here on the show. These films do comprise Nolan retrospective what we're calling the Uber Review and it continues with the inception this week. Our podcast listeners. Listeners will hear some listener feedback from our recent Spielberg show, we did a forty fifth anniversary. Sacred Cow Review of jaws, and we power ranked the five decades. Spielberg's directing career just a few weeks ago, before taking a quick break, that was a fun show Josh. And surprisingly we only got a few angry emails about your daring to play Spielberg's nineties output in your last slot number five. Yeah, well sometimes when you're faced with the truth Adam, there's not much more you can say. Yeah I did have at four, so I'm not sure that I'm shielded from all that hatred, either we will get to all that later in the show, but first adamant. I have seen a fair number of new releases this year. Just you know at Home Hey Adam and Josh. This is your former production assistant. Andy Mitchell with a recommendation for your best film of two thousand so far. That film is Sam failures disclosure. Documentary about. Nothing less than the history of cinema and television through the Lens of the transgender community, it may look like a typical activists film, but it plays more like the story of film series that Markelle cousins did a few years ago weaves together clips. From from the silent era today with fascinating reactions from dozens of trans artists. I'm telling you I did not expect to come away from this. Thinking a daytime talk show like Jerry. Springer might have actually been helpful in some way, so check it out. It's streaming now on net flicks. I, hope you give it a watch. Thanks for the show here's hoping for a better back half of twenty twenty, always nice to hear from our former PA Andy Mitchell and a great recommendation there. I know we've both been rushing over the past week to fit in some movies that we hadn't caught up with yet this year. I did make time for disclosure after Andy's recommendation and even though it didn't. Didn't make my top five. I'm with Andy highly recommend the film and he mentioned it almost playing more like a story of film series. I think that's what's so remarkable about the documentary is if Sam Feder had come to me for any advice on how to approach the subject matter. I might have said if you're GONNA. Try to tell the entire history of. transgender representation in cinema you probably either have to pick that lane or pick the lane of telling these more personal stories of the various performers and artists who are following in the wake of that, and who are now carving out their own identities on screen, and how far we've come talk about that evolution with maybe a little bit of that perspective. Josh of course needed, but it would divide. Divide the documentary too much, and somehow it is this absolutely thorough edifying look at the way. Cinema has typically represented transgender identity, but it also reveals these really amazing personal stories of these artists so definitely recommend disclosure available now Netflix and I suppose with that Josh Let's get into our countdown. It has certainly been an odd year, but we feel like we've seen enough movies and certainly more. Small movies, maybe in terms of the big Hollywood releases. We haven't been able to get out to the theater. That's for sure, but it's really been a boon for video on demand opportunities, and for seeing a lot of movies that would fit into our golden brick type of category I have three potential golden bricks among my top five, so movies made by new. New Directors or new to US director. Is that similar for you? Yeah I think that's what's had the most effect on my left. Compared to previous years, which is a good thing you know we. We do our best to give attention to these smaller films and this strange year without major theatrical releases. We've been able to do even more of that so i. I think this list would probably look a little different If there had been the usual theatrical release date, but I still feel really good about the films that I have on my list, and it's going to be a mix of some. We've talked about even reviewed together on the show Adam and a few a couple that we haven't

"Them. Dot com slash Nolan. This is not the singing. He's played music. And then he started very loudly saying things, I didn't understand. What were you saying? It was doing the back. The wasn't. I don't like real loud your headphones. Headphones. Think it's supposed to be in the background. Okay. Before we get into this award winning. I mean, ominous okay interview. Okay. It is tunnel pressure for a very Cavalieri update. So here's Katie Nolan with your very Cavalieri update deleted. Did it do high? Hi, it's so this week. I'm very leery. I usually write them down, and I forgot it. So I'm just going to remember from. So Jay's picking up sticks. Oh, he's doing a lot of yard work, and he's pick sticks or sticks. He's picked sticks. But he does say like, I gotta stop picking sticks. Can't just pick sticks. All the time. It sounds like you said pick six should start using that as the audio drop for podcast. But anyway, so Kristen estimate he wanted to if I remember. No, okay. So this is actually ended up soda was like she's like it's been a year since you stop playing football. Do you miss it? And he said, yeah, you know, I thought I'd be fine. And I'm doing a bunch of stuff. But I do think that I need to like can't just pick up sticks. All the time. He also ordered online a bunch of eggs and an incubator they now he ordered eggs in incubator to which Kristen is like we have like eighteen chickens wide. Did you order eggs, and you never really gives an answer. So he has like twelve or twenty one again, I wrote down don't remember. Exit notes twenty one days, so he has like twelve exit. He's gonna put in this incubator. And then you leave them alone for twenty one days, and they're going to be chickens. Okay. So like Christmas having conversation with them about like shipping and stuff at her work and how it's not working out. And here's Jay pudding delicately, these eggs into an incubator that he got shipped. And it's just like how can she not ship shirts if he can get eggs in the mail. It's fascinating. Also, I believe it's Jay's friend that tries to set Kristen's best friend up with a guy. Like a thing. That's been kind of a running for those who watch the whole show. Not just the Cutler seems like me it's like a running thing that they're trying to get this girl like a guy. And so anyway, this guy comes and his name is it's like Jason or Jared, Jared, and and so. Ed. So he so they may he meets Jay Jared meets Jay and Jared. You know, he meets Kristen like nice to meet you. She's like Kristen than trays like, I'm Jay. And he goes, oh nice letter. I'm jared. Jared J J to his face goes what the hell? It was like this guy sucks. Magai is there like so you came here just to meet, I forget her name say, Amanda. And and he's like, yeah. I had a bunch of spare miles and I flipped a coin. And I decided in jail leans in. And goes, maybe leave that part out when you talk to her and the guy was like, you think so enjoy was like, yeah. No. I would definitely leave all of this out when you finally speak her then I thought it was really sweet Jane's, it seems like he's just very protective of Christians best friend. And I thought that was a very sweet thing. I'm falling in love. With Jay Cutler over the weeks. I think I'm going to not watch the show anymore. No is very sweet. And I liked it a bunch, and this has been your very Cavalieri very tired update. Do do it. Did it Do did? we? Okay. So here is a WWE correspondent Ashley Bray band interviewing though, Mayon Becky Lynch, so quick disclaimer before we get to Becky Lynch. We had some technical difficulties. We were told only one Mike was going to record. And it would only be able to record for ten minutes was a complete mess. Very flustered. So I just recorded the audio on my iphone, there's a noticeable difference.

"Settling debate between me, and my girlfriend Devon, she claims that shredded cheese tastes differently than she's at comes in blonde forum or incisive, and so I would love to get all of your opinion on this very important debate. And I love you all and have a good day. You know shell out to Birmingham right now. That's crazy. This is a lot of Birmingham content. Everything's coming up Birmingham. They're going to rename burning man burnt burning him. Oh, ho can be like a barbecue convention Tada. Hi cole. Hello, devon. I agree with her. Yeah. I don't know what the debate one hundred percent when I was little I thought I didn't like cheese like I didn't like slices of American cheese. I know I grew out of it. My brother would just go eat slices of like land-o-lakes American that we would get from the from the deli counter and eat the slice of cheese and still to this day. I don't love eating a plane slice of cheese. I like melting it on stuff or whatever. But I'll eat like a chunk of cheese, but a slice just feels weird and makes a taste different. But shredded cheese, I'm all up in that. I love shredded like Monterey, Jack or like a shredded cheddar a stretcher as I call it the my home, but do you think shredded cheddar tastes different than a block of chess? It really does. It's it's a surface. It's a surface area thing. That makes sense. Lou yet does does air touching more of the of the of his orphan shutters like kinda sharp. But if you just a little bit of it. Yeah. More dull. Yeah. It has. I don't know. I don't know how you feel about you not liking this license of cheese thing 'cause you and I don't agree disagree on a ton as a real like a thirty point of my personality just eating Chee totally under sexually slice. I think it might be because if this would help if I provide some background it might be because often slices of cheese come on like a deli platter with like slices of meat and coal cuts. And you know, how I feel about those and like when they do come on those platters, they sweat, and so I think when I just see a slice of cheese. My instinct isn't like let me get that in my mouth. It's like I could make grilled cheese with it or I put on a sandwich. But I'm not really into a slice of cheese. I'm sorry. I'm not disagreeing about aren't making any grilled cheese. But here's the thing. If you're making a grilled cheese, you peel off a slicer too. And you just eat it while you're make. Yes. Saying give to your dogs you give to your husband. And I don't have either of those things. Thank for thanks for reminding. Yeah, more. That's great. I just kind of make a grilled cheese. I'm just gonna solve like super number of my dogs in us. Husband. It's not sad enough. I'm making myself a grilled cheese. It's seven thirty PM on a then that's like my dream never home at seven thirty where here all the time. We're gonna we'll talk about. Okay, pod. I just yes, obviously. Devon's right coal. You're wrong. I don't know what. And yet still I feel like I've I've lost in Ghana. We're on the same side. And I feel I couldn't feel further from you coul-, you you don't disagree. Like, I don't think he's just a lead say settle a debate. Yeah. Taste different get over it accord ever type at the time. I my brothers now wife, so my sister-in-law we Julie was so it faced and we went back to her apartment, and I went to the bathroom, and when I came out she was sitting on a blow up bed that she had blown up for me to sleep on. But she's eating just a plate of shredded cheese. He'd just poured a bunch of it on a play. She was eating it. And it was all over the floor. And I was like ju Julie are you just eating a plate of shredded cheese. And she looked up at me. And she's like this sounds like a Nolan problem. I don't even know what that means. But as perfect she says, I mean, my only problem you have showed me in the video. My only problem with it is like just take the bag and put..

"Why four point oh, no twenty like not even a blow out like they were in ten of their players couldn't play they put Oreos in their cracks and ran naked across a football field. My mother-in-law question for you. How do you run with a Oriole in your budget? Well in between your buddy, that's a great lump in your butt cheek. But you get it. I. I wanted to answer this question. So I did research, obviously, I was like what would not waste those. You eat them after gross. I gotta I think maybe that's what they were trying to figure out. Don't think you need ten dudes were they doing it all at once. Was it a stampede of naked? I think so I think that's mostly a streaking goes it's like we all do it together. So that, you know, you're not alone. Right. What who were the ones who opted out were they watching or were they who? Ooh. I'm so was at practice. Did you click the link? I did click the link. This was the the the bulk of the information. Okay. There wasn't there wasn't until much L sandwiched in between. What the double sandwiched? I guess it's a double standard because it's an Oreo sandwiched between San. Yeah. Okay. So, but what what what's up what's happening with reporters? You know, man. Like these in the stories. I know it's uncomfortable. Okay. But you've got to get the info you've got to ask the questions because we need to know what what were they holiday themed Orioles where they the birthday cake Oreos. It's important. It matters. This may be was a science experiment. Maybe they had a reason. And instead of asking you were just like these idiots. We'll maybe they're at the forefront. Maybe they're on the Portland progress. You know? Yeah. Maybe it's a training thing out there. Running naked to like, yeah. What their body through the element of you ever seen the way the people trained for professional athletes? It's like they do weird shit a law. They like pull parachutes behind them like who knows he'd be. This has been nice thing really working out your butt muscles. Yeah. Maybe he's not listening to the right plant cash and and run. Yeah. Dude. But like. So the Rockford register star. Okay. Reports that school administrators concluded that the run in which players moved across the school's football field with an Oriole wedge between their buttocks was not an active hazing that determination came after interviews with nearly thirty varsity players, oh and all the coaches, India review of dark security video footage school administrators said they to be voluntary. So there's that video there's Tate give it to DMC's TMZ yet. Right and see it or if you don't ever wanted to get out give it to the NFL and you'll be fine. That is something someone suggested that and there were at least ten thumbs up. There will give them in. I'm in. Let's do it probably twenty times that they interviewed thirty people. Okay. Fine. Whatever speaking of. Wait, how many sports this is fifth were about to do? It forty four sports stories. I think it's time for one that's only vaguely related the sports. And by vaguely, I mean, it's not. So speaking of. Things you wanna see? It is hard. Speaking about questionable decisions. Okay. You're right. Jennifer Aniston named her dog after Dolly Parton, and Dolly Parton was not thrilled about it. They're in a movie together dumpling dumpling, and they're doing press dumpling. And I think that's how you pronounce that said Dolly Parton 's would say, listen hair dumpling, and she just said, I didn't know how I've had you know, how I felt about that. I follow up question for you, Katie Nolan is it a compliment to name your dog after a specific human person. Well, thank you for asking Ashley brave, and you know, not that long ago. I it was brought to my attention that there was a dog up for adoption on a website that I now forget it was a Chihuahua. It was located in Brooklyn in its name was Katie Nolan. What it was an honor? What about me a stay up all night, and my bad well with I mean, I didn't say that you did though you didn't say with your words. Just try going to bed at eight thirty a bit you'd wake up. I would probably be so much happier and more efficient. There are times when Steve for whatever reason my husband's Steve decides he doesn't want to go to bed early. He's like embarrassed that it's nine. Yeah. As the NFL, and I'm like, okay, just let's turn the lights off. We'll turn the TV off just read for a little bit. He falls asleep within five minutes and always isn't a Wales morning. And is like I feel amazing nothing that like men JD find it eat like when you're ready to go to. Sleep. Can you fall asleep within five minutes? No, not usually if I put my head down. It's like, I gotta do breathing exercises. I have to be listening to something or have TV on if it's silent or here like a noise on the street and be like oh wonder what's happening out there is that a dog is it what type kind breed, do you think that is oaks get up and take a look. So like, I can't. But like men always just put their head down in her like. Yeah. Let's take note that I'm gonna take a twenty minute nap. And I'm like, okay. If that were me I'd have to set my alarm for like forty minutes from now. 'cause I know twenty minutes are going to be falling asleep in the ninety the twenty minutes of the nap he sets his alarm for twenty minutes, and then he's asleep. Like that must be amazing. How to do you save so much time? I can't I can't do that. I wish I could. Yeah. That's why I don't like going to sleep because I know that before the sleep. There's that long trudge on everything you did. Yeah. You got to wonder about what I could be doing my life other than what I'm doing. My follow up question for you. You think about every Email that I've never been. I haven't responded to. That's what I do at night. That's what I do at night. I'm like up, man. You didn't do that. You've got to do that. You get a call that person back. My fellow question. Few kidding. We did that already. No, no. We didn't. We did won't mind is mine is if you had to give one piece of advice for thing not to do at a company holiday party. Go to it. Pretty good. So he keep your hands to yourself. I would say drink too much. I've done that. So we all have right? But you shouldn't do it. But we do. You don't go to talk to it. Do LeBron did in sleep. Instead. It's probably for the best. Nice. Am ready for another transition. Oh, that's right. Speaking of. Oh boy. Speaking of things, you do when you get is that it work holiday party ten football players in Byron Illinois were suspended for running across the football field naked with Oreos between there. That's great 'cause I just had like three or four handfuls of chocolate covered Espresso beans. So I am ready. Okay. All right excited. I up one story. We're doing it a way to do it after we do. That's fine. Go ahead. But like is. The first story Katie Nolan. Seattle has a hockey team basketball team not to be confused with basketball. That's true. They have a hockey, you know, people often do confuse the huggy and the bell. The Seattle fans were hoping for a basketball someday. But the good step in the right direction a good when the skate in the right direction, your derailing my mind NewsRadio on Tuesday, the NHL announced its board of governors. Had granted Seattle an expansion team. That will join a league for the twenty twenty one twenty twenty two sees it. A lot of twenty has twenty twenty twenty twenty twenty twenty twenty twenty twenty one they don't have a name yet. But they're gonna play their home games in renovated key arena where the SuperSonics used to play what's been happening in keyarena sin. I think I think we should do a monologue on that. Honestly, it's interesting all the abandoned sports stadiums. Like, what are they what are they doing? Besides just sitting. Well, the Olympic ones are knots like it's creepy it. It's it's it's a huge waste of money. We'll get into later. We never do it another monologue. This need a day off. Thinking of Oman. If that's alright with. Okay. My question. Sorry. Oh, gosh. I almost missed it up. My fellow cushion for you you Katie Nolan. Yeah. What would you name the hockey team sucks to you gooey ducks gooey ducks doll because Seattle's like isn't that where they get them the Pacific northwest? So that's where they get them. Yup. Yup. Answer does. Yes. That's really. I mean, listen, I am probably the biggest Guido fan in all of the winds. Heavy shirt away. All the lands. But like, that's what you would name your. No, okay. Fine team. Will there the so they had the SuperSonics? They now have the Sounders and the storm is that there. What's the WB is the storm? Shout out to the homie sued. So I think that there are very s team like they like to have s names. So maybe like the Seattle's st- Starbucks which would be a cool name if it weren't for the coffee chain because like what is the starbuck? I think it's a thing. Gonna stare at me. The first thing that popped in my head was a Seattle secretions. Why is that the first thing that popped into you don't have to share all I was just I didn't know what to say is that's say nothing instead of secretions. I said gooey ducks. And you're like not really though, let me get my real name out there. I'd like secretion. It's like it. It's just once it got there couldn't get it. It's like my eyes are like a prompter short shorts or there. This is happening. What about the Seattle super teams like that? Ooh. Seattle's sponsorship from them. He maybe popular imagine if supreme made uniforms. They'd be weird looking the Seattle's. Spotted dogs spotted Burt spot Seattle spot the Seattle spot. Yep. Just the spot Steelers taken the Seattle space needle. Ooh. Ooh. What Seattle space Seattle? Look we've had this conversation before that we keep forgetting cool words like dragons. Yes. So is there like a what if it was the Seattle sleigh? I would love that. L A Y. Yeah. Yeah. Sorry. Not the no that's coho. Hope. Skate or skates is just like sitting there for them. Is it Jay dorky? But is this the ATL hockey Seattle sticks? But what if they split it like ever Levin like s k and then just eight the number the Seattle numb more guys. This isn't a this Seattle skis. What if they ski? Steet just because I love a love a love a team that isn't plural. Okay. Keep a love that. I think we will be fine with it. What if they just if the if an MBA franchise were going to come back, eventually what if they got out ahead of it? And the hockey team was the SuperSonics. Do you think you'll be pissed? Yes. I know. But it'd be dope for like jerseys would be cool..

"I know it sounds boring, but I actually read something a while ago. My brain's a black hole, but that like one of the smartest the boys to get the best ideas or to have new crate, creative ideas is to read simultaneously like two books that have nothing to do with each other. Because putting both of those ideas into the soup that is your brain causes them to collide into each other to make you think about you know, what I mean, like if you're reading one book, that's like about the psychology and another book that's about I don't know. Like, it just a fiction book about something about aliens like a young adult. Like side, or if you're eating a young adult science fiction book, you will understand psychology differently. Because your brain is in a space where it's thinking about young adult science fiction, and then the science fiction you'll read that book differently because you've got all the psychology stuff floating around in your brain. So like reading multiple things at once. I actually find to be more interesting than just like, oh, I got to read a book. I like to look at it as well. I'll think about this different. Are you sure you don't just do that? Because you can't decide which book to read. Well, I also I have difficulty making decisions. I don't think I've ever shied away from living that I have. When it eat all the food at the buffet. I don't wanna have to pick anyway, jaded yovany sedentary activities. Love crossword puzzle. Love across word puzzle. And we decided to do it on Tuesday was the the day we made the decision, and then we've both kind of been in a cave. Writing that for twenty eight hours straight with like a two hour nap in the middle. So I have not come up for air to know what's going on in the world, like something huge could happen tonight. "Uh i think don't at me should be the title i've flipflop back and forth the always been on sports question mark but i think don't at me should be the tone i'll tell you why it just sorta like makes sense you know what i mean and it's welcome to don't at me i'm katie nolan said willing to sports i'm kidding nolan o how do i searched that in apple i'll just you just listen to the sports podcast anywhere you listen to podcasts so we're gonna go to like apple itunes it put in sports and not know the question mark is there it is going to be like every podcast is not distinctive enough hasn't is a little bit it can and having a little bit of confusion if they search getting on the and get it regards witness and there's a little bit of confusion to its exports question murdering ha don't at me is like i'm internet amman twitter and i've got i've got takes in you're gonna kinda want to reply to them in a kind of mean the thing is you can't make sports a segment so if we're not naming at sports and this is out in the ether uh you someone else is going to take that someone else going to be like why wouldn't i just name at sports whereas don't ask me let's say twitter goes under i'm churn i mean at is like instagram to i guess all that stuff but it's just like a it's it's i fear we would be alienating people that aren't on those platforms i know a lot of people that listened to podcasts split don't tweet uh and stuff like that and i don't wanna make people feel like this is just for kids because kids probably won't lump older than i am older than i led on.
