I saw that a lot of you guys learned how to play the actual instrument. I learned how to play. Never been near the drugs. That was interesting cardinals. As i get two different types of people. Either the the interviewers journalists that have no understanding of music or bomb instruments. And then. You know emmy like you know again. Sure we're in this pandemics. Everybody is handling everything spurs drunk. This different you know like how how how how been like. I guess like a mentally like handling things in like what are you. What do you do for your stress relievers. I do a lot of Recently legal Things to unwind chevy lawyers them in california. Enjoy myself and have Some balancing time with some beautiful herb horticulture and horticulture. There you go yes. I've been doing that to kind of balance. That out. My priority is to get christmas gifts for them I've been hiking. I've been hanging a lot because herbs to be a nature nature girl. It's not brand and you. You just mentioned hiking and i also think like something that is really cool is that you've been really vocal about body positivity in hollywood you had an article that came out a little while ago and i thought it was really cool. I think it's really inspiring especially like not just for women in general but like i think let us to like we have a lot of internal stuff that happens like in our families and and you know like the the chase like that plays into it like how the man thinks that us latina like a and again it goes all over and so i kind of just wanted to give you like the open space of like if you wanted to speak more on that because i think it's really important especially like for anybody. That's a listener whether they're trying to be in hollywood or not like. I think it's something that's still thank god changing for the positive but it's still a lot a lot of work to go up so i think you're i said well this like as a woman definitely. "Slurp slurp me hint there. We are back from our governor though. Break why that coffee off your list of it. It's all we have a special treat for you today. You know our guests from east. Los high and trash from netflix's selena the series knowing. Megan sally's are you. I'm great thank. You love your energy. Everybody's i'm like all right. i don't need. I don't need a cup of coffee anymore. We've that's because such a staple that even when he tony's way like he's not around like the other day Ler from the doesn't sound like you're totally context. It makes it makes no sense. And i think some guests have been like what show my aunt. I'm good. I'm happy to be here. Eightfold feeling break. You've been nonstop are year ending all the promo stuff i elina because it just dropped You know a week or go to weeks ago. I don't know what he's been times. It's not real time. What are these the construct are you. Are you guys still like heavy. Like a like you know doing interviews and stuff like that for the series. It has just started to slow down a little bit. So i'm thankful for that because we essentially wrapped and i was doing press while filming And the second. The second half but like wrapping up the series as a whole in mexico. So i was doing press there. Then i went like a better phrase. When i'm like on interviews. When i got here. I went entertainment. Crack to pursue you slurp in the press tour experience as risher yet. So it's been it's been nonstop in thankful and blessed but it's definitely been like okay. This comes with The acting part of it you know. So but it's a learning experience doubly my first having this extreme of press and exposure so everyone. Yeah hell yeah. I was actually going to ask that. 'cause i know you you have been on east coast. I You know you were just in another in another movie. That came out this year as well. tax collector. You've it's it's been a busy pandemic for you like but in a positive way which like you know. Of course you like you said you're so thankful and like by the way i want to say that i went to the premier. The drive inside. Oh thank you for supporting on. Thank you so much. I appreciate you castle supporting. Yeah i wanted to ask. Because i know you know you. You play one of the most important people. I think in the selena series. At least to me You know from being a fan of selena like her sister and her had such a strong relationship and it you know it still shows like in the series and like you know even like the real life stuff that we've continue to see from suzette so you pay says that anyhow and i was wondering Number one. I think. I wanna say like you do such an amazing job. I really love like the chemistry between you and christian do believe it a lot and i really like i love that because i think that's like a relationship a lot of people don't like focus on in some some shows sometimes can stabling. It's like they don't like that chemistry whatever but like you guys really had it and i was wondering like did you get to meet susanne because i know she's an ep. Like were you able to like kind of hang out and get like her vibe to help you build that character. I wish i wear some no no me like this is part of the deal. Like yeah you you you you look at archives of the person isn't with us anymore and if they're with us the you hang out with them and then you end up like really taking in their energy in their assets but i had to stock on insta stories in south orange social media a taker in that regard because of covid there in corpus in the pandemic hit and From the jambi was Thought of like a wonderful to work on her characters objectively and And baneful indefinitely thankful that we all got said do that and you know do do our thing as actors to have no pressure no bias. Nothing like you know to inform that we were doing our own interpretation of it so it was really nice. But i definitely and i mean i'm a huge fan of selena each banner of family Since before the movie watched her when she was Developing her star you know from the central central makiko sounds to the mainstream columbia. Sounds so i saw like you know. Really shape her stardom in her the way that she was taking off and so i was ready. I call my manager. And i was like okay when i booked and i was like. Give me a core business. I wanna be her assistant at At q-productions at the miscellany museum. I don't want anyone to know that. I'm playing her. I just want to be around her via the internet at q productions and just catcher vibe like that and it was like skirt pandemic skirt like life has different Will god laughs at our plans range. That's a phrase that i leaned onto that That happened so i was able to adjust and she was generous. Gave us some gave us Material that is not available to the public to listen to so that was really really helpful because It was a huge blessing to be like here. you go. we can't meet up by. Here's what i have. Her neighbor did that so to listen to it for Research is really really fun. But let's get you guys then The lift its lifted out doing an impersonation you get to kind of which we talked to hunter little yard and i feel like it does. It does make it a little easier. 'cause then you just focus on that. There's a lot of times when you set yourself up for an impression. They're like wait a minute people. I've also seen actors trying to do an impression and then it just takes me away from the whole process in a very fine line. It's a very what does call them. yeah but definitely. It's exactly like both. I totally get that but it so it is wild when the person is still here like you said because it's kinda like you said like immediately we'd like go as actors like I wonder if i can pick the or whatever. But what i like. I think i just wanted to hang out with friends. What doesn't accept. What did you learn these. Go get coffee man. And i saw so i saw that you. I know you are a big selena. You have been. And i thought the day on.

"And his family and my nephews. But yeah i. That's why i'm like sort. I sort of like buying my tongue light sensitive stuff. I don't wanna sure i don't know. Yeah but there's a lot of people like you tony. There really are a lot of people not just not just yes. Yeah exactly like. I think it's a little. I think we've noticed that when we talk about family stuff which again like you know. It's always really cool. That we are so vulnerable on the podcast and we talk about these things because lake. Yeah you're right like we're talking about something. That i i understand because i know you but like somebody listening may not really know until you just said it. You know and i know also. Oscar has a different a different opinion on these kinds of things to the lake. Yet what do you. What about you oscar. I know yeah. I i think the thing that i will say is that i 'cause i wasn't. My parents raised me as a child i was. I was very much in columbia being raised by my by community. By by the women of the of the family My grandma and my aunts Took care of me and my cousins like it was just like a big sort of like especially. Because i was like. I don't have a mom or dad like it's it's just like a commute. This community of women sort of like teaching me stuff. And i was a bit like of an orphan like i would sort of float around everywhere But it was very much like in columbia. Just what you did is like Yeah you don't and even what happened to is that like we would take on like sort of feral children like because we lived in the frickin boonies so even kids that were just like on their own or hat parents but they were very distant like they were just like come eat at our house and just sort of hang out gravitate your yeah it was. It wasn't even like oh. This isn't like our chai wasn't really like that possessive. It was just like oh this is like not those kids which you know they would show up and like eat. Hang out like we didn't know where the fuck he lived or what the family situation was at all. But it did feel like a sort of tru truly like a community sense and when i moved to the to the states. That was very different. It was all like very it. All became weirdly like possessive. Everything you are my child you earn his daughter. You know what. I mean like it was. It's so sag segmented fragment you land if fox. You're exactly yeah. It was very strange to sort of like that culture clash of like what does it mean to be. A family was very very. I grew up so i have my mother's white. But people think you let because she raised to latinos sons and speaks fluent spanish and my cuban father so the cuban family being in florida. We moved around a lot when we visited miami. I have cousins that live with the well we lived. It was very much like the whole family would live together. And we visit my white quotes whiteside indiana and everybody visualize everybody and their handling indiana to your family into your family and indiana's white or white. Okay my weight but even though like family but nobody there is not the sense of extended family. Everyone.

"Yeah i was chatting with Our any thought over the holidays off and we were just talking about families and things like that and how like. It's it's very interesting. I was thinking like a latinos lanez people. We really have a lot of history of like living with family members. That are not just our mom and dad and brother and sister like your immediate. Not counting like a wella's even also like i. I thought it was interesting because everybody is everybody's story stories really different than we even got into like the the subject of like. Yeah like we become our parents caretakers. I know like got the bit a lot. Like on twitter and memes and stuff like your parents have you so that you can take care of them when they get all their whatever. And there's i've seen those kind of things. But i don't know i guess i wanted to like kind of just talk about it with you guys like what your experiences have been with living with family in your home with your siblings and mom and dad. Yeah it's so interesting because like without next culture. It's all about familiar like that's that's our community. I think i might even his wife. Yeah yeah and it's not a question it's an you know duties right and say a gift. Other people might see an obligation. I think a lot of Westernize linex people are westernized as well. But i'm americanized With families that it does become a bit of a burden slash obligation but In latin countries and cultures it sorta seen as fact as a given. Yeah thank you. And on the flip side it also makes sense Maybe the more americanized version. Even for young people is by the time you're eighteen. You get kicked out of the house. Well that's not the norm. But that's also something that i think kind of plays into that bran and in a reversely. If that's a word that can be used in this context than is young. People tend to stay with their families well into their twenties. If they're not you know until they like become professionals they married a lot of time. They stay at home to like late twenties in american households. It's such a turnoff for someone to still be living at home with their parents. Yeah but in late next culture. It is normal. Like mama okay. At least she's my roommate. Well not only that. Here's the thing like media law especially mental. Like i'm just saying it. Like latino boys mom. Listen your mom latina's moms and women we come. We come hard like at taking care of the whole family and even more like the boys like. It's it's like. I don't know how to explain it. But there's something about like the women especially like even like taking care of the boys. I remember growing up like always like thinking like okay like all. Get this for my dad. Or like i'll get like like i'll get my brothers play because he's doing or whatever that is like not that it was all the time but let me just roll nurturer exactly and like also like being like a woman and like dating people. It's interesting to like. Talk to different females of different cultures and stuff like that whereas like in miami especially like i know so many men that are in their thirties mid thirties. Whatever and they still live at home. And i personally don't think it's a terrible as long as you're not flexing like that you don't live at home but like you know like whatever you live at home like your mom's does your laundry. She cooks like maybe you know what that's like. It's all the excessive nece of like if you leave too early because you get kicked off in our reason that can have negative effects. Also if you stay past your time and you literally your mom folds your underwear hands it to you Then that you know definitely present You know a what's the word a handicap of social handicapped because you're not really prepared for the real world but yeah i said before it is so interesting. The connotation of what is frowned upon in an american household versus lat next household. Because it is. It's such a big deal especially in american pop culture that the in laws are still a part of people's lives. You know what. I mean like my mother-in-law so annoying we're in x. Culture it is that is just. The norm wire elders. They're the ones that like yeah. They're not a nuisance. For the most part. I mean everybody. I'm again we're just kind of generally general. Yeah yeah i mean listen. I said it's like i say it all. It's i am to my boyfriend and his mom. The i'm like i'm like that's my best friend. Is my boyfriend. The mom i love her. She like told her everything at this point. I'm like it's just funny because like you're right like it's not really a custom but i do feel like a lot of more. My lat next friends are friends with less wagga or like they'll go get their meals and things like that were like. I don't think a lot of my like non ladder. Next would do that as much. Not latin max or a non immigrant like descend. That's also that's a good question. I'm sure would get won't i mean i think that's i think that's what it is. I think let's say quote unquote white americans. America's theirs for the taking. We've seen this in the news this week by week and every week but yeah but immigrant cultures not only next. We'll say we know every every immigrant cultures that comes to america. There is a family is important. And well we'll add. It adds a little a layer for queer child at difficulty navigating that when for example family is so important growing up and they are not necessarily supported because immigrants tend to be religious in general of course speaking general conservative. Yes yeah. But i think it comes down to that like our like the immigrant tallies are roots are not here although this is our new home but we are as each other exactly. Yeah yeah coming. Heavy contrast with the idea of being an independent human being when it comes to like white american culture. I can't wait to get out of my house. I can't wait to start making my own money. I can't wait for my son or daughter to get a job. I can't wait for them to get out of the house right. It is a very sort of so low. you're on your own pick yourself up by the bootstraps way of thinking..

"Hard. but what I wanNA leave everyone with is that we have to make sure that we can take care of each other and also our mental health specifically. So we have to nourish ourselves be able to provide the support that we need and And Yeah it's GonNa be an interesting Kennedy form. I think it's going to be one of our last Wednesday truly. We're in the homestretch. and. It's important for. The potential voters to see who you're voting for I mean it's never been easier to resume. skype. skype is involved at all in these things but. It's the new way of the voting is is there's no rallies anymore at least this year. So you have no excuse. You can sit at home in your underwear and watch bait. and. Make informed decisions because if you're a west highland residents, something needs to change and it's like I will say that the current City Council, they've done some good work absolutely like. AIDS related issues. But You know just normal issues of traffic and no parking and venues like the troubadour potentially closing down. Twenty four hour fitness which in West. Hollywood. If that Jim goes. Away it's GonNa be some riots. And so. The Sheriff Department interactions with the public probably could be. Improved so please vote. I'M NOT GONNA say who I'm voting for but she's in my part right now. Which shows you, how good of a candidate she is going to persuade you but I would love your support onto taught him for you. The last time I voted was literally I registered to vote for Schwarzenegger because I was a fan of the movie Predator. EPIC. an office. I don't know if I was right on that one. So now let me thank you so much for doing this and if you're around the La area tomorrow Fairfax Santa Monica. There'd be twelve, thirty, two to thirty one asshole I bombed here with project angel every morning on Tuesday. So we'll be there right after and are you on instagram and twitter do you do that thing? Yes. Instagram is I am Noemi Doris. That's my personal and you're more than welcome to please follow me there or no emmy the number four we ho at. Noemi for we hill. So please follow her and you know. She's like the little politician that could like 'cause I can't emphasize you guys enough. Especially, those of you who are unfamiliar with West, Hollywood? There's no inbetween in terms of the city council. There's the developed back people on it. And then there's the people who aren't backed by them, and it's a gigantic financial gap between the support that. You know you're not going to see and I wanNA mention name so badly but. I won't you can. If you want. Okay I will now this is not no emmys views, but you know the the John Holliman's the John Duran's They're backed by major major developers. Noemi. Isn't so they're not going to be at starbucks tomorrow who for boats because they don't have to which mind you will be social distancing were will be wearing. Our mass will be having hand sanitizer. So everybody will be safe. Now, six six inches just had subway. Six apart the unites but it's even harder for someone like you. To do a grassroots. Small budget campaign was social distancing. Even. In the best time you're hoping for maybe the say, Fifty people to show up tomorrow. That's a lot in a smaller city now. We can add fifty. We have twenty five when they're going to be spread apart. So I'm really asking my fans. Vote with your head and heart. and this is the first time I'm voting. For Schwarzenegger? Disaster he was. So hopefully you amy. Victory in the voting calm because this last Sunday both for someone because they were in a good movie. So, this is inappropriate. Are All. Based in West Hollywood west. Hollywood tax Payer. So I'm very cities near and dear to me and I WANNA see. Off to bigger and better things and I think the person to maybe not change it all by herself but she needs to be on the city council to give us some new blood and some new direction, and hopefully we can do it November third and thank you guys for listening. This might be the last time I ever did a political episode. As a good see I'm struggling not to ask like some stupid questions. So there's never stupid question I just don't know if I would be able to answer it so. that. They are plenty of stupid questions on this podcast. So I love you guys. "noemi" Discussed on Inappropriate Earl

"Right and appropriate earl is back. Thank you guys for all the love and support for the recent broadcasts from the comedy store be doing more episodes their life Let you know when that happens now today. It's probably the first out of I think three, hundred, ten episodes. That I've had someone running for political office and I'm very excited not? Donald. Trump. It's not Kamala Harris. island in West. Hollywood. As you guys know and West Hollywood is a very A. Politically charged city which I find strange because it's only a one point nine square mile city, but there's a lot of action in those. Under two miles and The politics can be a almost like the nation politics are going on right now, very dismissive and divisive and I have a lady here who is running for West Hollywood city council to hopefully win. Great. Some new blood. please. Welcome no Emmy Taurus. Thank you so much for having me though I'm. So fascinated by Politics. I don't vote to be honest with you because I've never found a politician. that. I believe what they're saying. Well, see I'm not a politician I'm trying to be of service maybe I can persuade you to what for the first time this year but we'll see we'll see I would like I just. I followed a I had a friend of. Mine Matt. Ralston, who ran for city council he's comic. and. He was so fed up with. How West, Hollywood is run. Is Like I'm going to do something about it and he didn't win but I admired him for. Taking the initiative. And a West Hollywood. I've lived here since right after nine eleven with sailing way. No. How to remember. So twenty years and it's gone downhill. Especially the last five years my eyes. And I've just jurist in a why. Why has gone downhill so fast. Yeah we'll know well again thank you for having me. I have been actually here seventeen years some born and raised in Mexico moved up to Seattle when I was thirteen years old make emigrant and when I moved here, two, thousand three I have really truly been around West Hollywood, most of the time and started being of service into thus in eleven twelve with a women's advisory board, and now the Public Facilities Commission, and yet I've noticed a shift and how leadership is run how there's somewhat of a lack of accountability with city council as well as The lack transparency and some developments that are happening in the area. So I thought you know I think it's important for new people together voices heard new blood just like you said and get new opportunities especially for women and women of color to be able to provide the leadership that the demographics which have changed we have now eleven percent, of Latinos, in West Hollywood or do. Yeah. Yeah and so we must be able to make sure that we are providing the leadership and being able to hear everyone not just Conveniently developers thing you know. So I'm here to be able to be of service to the community and I think the recent that you've noticed a little bit of a downturn when it comes to the area is because we've kind of flack. Do you know how sometimes you have someone that's working with you in like five six years the actual Quality of the work they're doing. They people get comfortable and and it is what it is but it's time for us to be able to have the opportunity to to serve with the city council. Well, I mean, it does seem to my untrained eyes I mean I'm just a stand up comic. There's almost too much development going on and I know it's good for the income. Like. The and I apologized to the non California listeners mention streets and intersections. You may not be familiar with but say from Doe Heaney to, Lapierre? There seems to be that gigantic development. That's just. Create havoc with traffic, and there's the development across the street on the same side as the troubadour. And let's just trying to save by the way. Hopefully, we'll be able to do that. Those are condos and Apartments, it's makes us. But I'm talking about Detroit door There is a community that standing up and supporting them to make sure that we're able to either make it a historical building or and or make sure that we able to say the tour door religious getting a lot of artists together. So we need you or I mean the troubadours Swirl, John I. Mean, we can ask him to come Elton John are listening he might be PODCASTS is a wide range of listeners straight gay old young I mean I've gone to so many concerts at the troubadour cry goes out of business. And that's such an iconic. Venue that even if you don't like the music, the are the bands played there. You still don't want it to go away. The guns and roses played there and? James Taylor started in like got to see them when they're just starting when there were fresh. We were literally like five homeless guys. Think the. tend to guns and roses podcast but. I like us in roses but were they signed to Geffen records, which is another iconic building. It's just kind of faded away David Geffen who's an iconic in the West Hollywood community that they were five homeless guys. He didn't even know they were a band and he wanted him out of his office. Call the cops like no, you're signing these guys. Ness figuring it homeless. And I know this is A. Controversial subjects because it's their people, I? Mean there is important. In Life as you and I aren't. But I've noticed. Specifically. In the last five years the. Increase in not just homelessness but I guess they're aggressive behavior. and. Am I wrong and. I was at the dog park last night. And these two ladies were there and they said, can we ask you a question I'm like Oh, boy I'm really shouldn't be the Representative, of West Hollywood but sure is, are there a lot of homeless people around here or is it us? Unlike well. And my untrained opinion it seems that Beverly Hills pushes them east. And then Fairfax Russian Jewish congregation they kinda push him West. So we're just in the metal. Am I wrong in that Is I mean how commissions to be a a an overabundance of homeless in this area? Well, I don't know if you've ever been to some Pedro in downtown or Alvarado Street or other locations that you have seen a tremendous amount of increase in tents. We as you notice, there's no tents in West Hollywood there is a lot of mental health that I'm really making sure that were able to because it actually is a, it's a human human rights violation for them to get arrested.

"We got a tweet from Noemi sparks who who seems suspicious that in that last conversation. Neither Jake nor. I explicitly labeled ourselves as feminists of an asked if we are, of course, I consider myself. So I've said it many times, I just didn't say it in that clip. Thank you for pointing to us. If you say, so. Clear because she will put a new product on Oetzi. My star is going to be thought, by the way, it look I live. I learned feminism is through being wrong. Right. Remember, I was a Republican. And I remember I wrote an article the daily pennsylvanian no aboard. And the daily pennsylvanian at Penn and someone responded feminists Hugo was the title of the letter to the editor and explaining why. Hey, Jay, you don't know. But you're actually a feminist and I was like, oh, right. Right. And I was wearing a bow tie. I wasn't worrying about but I eventually realized. All it means is you think women should have equal rights. That's not that complicated. And that's not that hard. I just want to point out everything he said is right there. We're living under tyranny right now ever since they got the power to alter these dynamically. I never know. What's going to happen really worried about to be targeted by it? Okay. Gary time to wait it invite that attack. I think your needs to be I was a Republican. But I got better. You becoming with jingles all day. All right, John. Well, okay. Let's have some fun. Mayor poop. John's go. I was really worried about pronouncing last name, so I gave up on the first name altogether. Okay. Mayor Pete Buddha. Judge he entered the democratic primary not that long ago. And when he did I don't think a lot of people across the country knew who he was. But we're like a month into his candidacy and already it looks like a number of media outlets have fallen in love. So let's have conversation about his candidacy to give you an idea of what I mean, we've taken the headlines of a few articles recently why Pete Buddha is having a twenty twenty moment from CNN Pete Buddha. Judge is having his moment from the national review. So they got CNN and the national review. Why you love mayor Pete from the New York Times, that's fun one. I love no Newark. It's why you love mayor Pete who is people to judge the game lineal mayor. The Democrats didn't see coming from vogue people to jets favorite book is Ulysses, and that's great. That's why I want to read that one actually after Obama Democrats the new theory of change people to judge thinks. He's got it from vox, and is people judge a transformational candidate from New York magazine. So there's actually quite a bit of fanatic overlap between outlets, you wouldn't necessarily normally categorize categorize together about him and all of those. It's only been a few weeks what Pete Buddha ges can do for your skin. To be fair. They wrote very similar articles about Bernie Sanders. Why are you love Bernie Sanders by the New York Times, right? Yeah, they should do that. So what's interesting about this is that look he's had a town hall, and I watched his town hall. I thought he was fine on most issues. I disagree with him a significant and a couple of the most important ones. But it was fine. He was interesting. There's a lot of candidates in the race right now for so many different outlets to seemingly all coalesce around one. When as right now, he's at two point three percents in real clear politics average of recent twenty twenty democratic primary polls placing him in seventh place. He's got he's got he's got him. So look seventh place in this primary means something because there's like thirty people running, but that's still two point three percent. And they seem to be getting ahead of themselves. Just a little bit. I think including by just wanna read one more graphic. So Chris cillizza got quite a bit of a strike back from this tweet the twenty million dollars for Harris makes Buddha..
