"We have a story like this. Yeah i mean the one. I did last. Time is a lot like this one. Yeah and that's where we were like. We should just go ahead. And do the bermuda triangle. Yeah 'cause we have come across it so much anyways. So for decades. Bermuda triangle has captured the human imagination with unexplained disappearances of ships planes and people and other phenomena located off the southeastern coast of the us in the atlantic ocean between bermuda. Florida and puerto rico. The region has become. It's known as a region of unexplained mysteries but the area seems a stretch as far as the magic nation will allow. also. The devil's triangle has been blamed for the disappearance of thousands of people in the past decades. The term bermuda triangle was first used by vincent gaddis in nineteen sixty four in an article published in argosy magazine but the earliest mention of the area was in nineteen fifty and nineteen fifty article published in the miami herald by edward van. Winkle jones edward vending winkle jones. Okay that's tongue-twister tears later. Fate magazine published see mystery at our back a short article by george sand covering the loss of several planes and ships including the loss of flight. Nineteen a group of five. Us navy gunman tbn avenger torpedo bombers on a trainee. mitch mission. Sands article was the first to lay out the now familiar triangle area where the last took place as well as the first to suggest a supernatural element to the flight nineteen incident. So and i'm gonna get into flight. Nineteen a little bit later on. Nineteen alone would be covered again in the april. Nineteen sixty two issue of american legion magazine. All right and then in february nineteen sixty. Four vincent gaddis wrote an article called the deadly. Bermuda triangle in the pulp magazine are saying flight. Nineteen and other disappearances were part of a pattern of strange events in the region. The next year gaddis expanded this article into a book invisible horizons. So this is when the whole legend of the Mita triangle really start to take off explanations. Okay you can both talk about this Explanations for occurrences in the bermuda triangle. Run the gamut from a scale of scientific to aliens. Yeah do you wanna talk about those now or you wanna wait until the end after. We've discussed all the weirdness Wanting to talk about the scientific ones first and then we can talk about the weird ones later. Okay so one of the things that people talk about or as an explanation as to what's going on is comfort competent comp- grew we're definitely drinking today. Folks all right compass variations compass. Problems are one of the cited phrases and many tr- triangle at incidents while some have theorized that unusual local magnetic anomalies may exist in the area. Such anomalies have not been found. Compasses have natural. Magnetic variations in relation to the magnetic poles a fact which navigators have known for centuries magnetic north and geographic. True north are exactly the same only for small number of places for example as of two thousand and the united states. Only those places on a line running from wisconsin to the gulf of mexico. There is some evidence to suggest. The bermuda triangle is a place where magnetic compass sometimes points towards true north as opposed to magnetic north. So that's one explanation and then another one. Did you run into this one. The gulfstream No i don't know you'll have to talk about because it may be under something different than what you have. Okay and other is the gulfstream. The gulfstream is a major service current primarily driven by thermo. Hey circulation that originates in the gulf of mexico and then it flows through the straits of florida into the north into the north atlantic..

"To right away with a double engine failure. We think possibly the fewest contaminated. That wasn't the case. And apparently this aircraft this particular aircraft had been had experienced engine failures on departure a number of times in the recent past. This isn't exactly new behavior for this aircraft or this airlines there was definitely something systemic at that airline and unfortunately the grounding order came just a weed too late yeah an engine failure on departure in twenty eighteen on one of the engines that was relatively low time and low cycles. Twenty three thousand six hundred fifty seven total hours thirty five thousand seven hundred fifty three total cycles in twenty nineteen a different engine that had seventy one thousand seven hundred and six hours and sixty seven thousand one hundred ninety four total cycles failed as the crew is taking off from hana lulu. And so that that you know kind of a pattern within that particular. We don't know what engines if they were any either of the same engines from the two thousand eighteen or twenty nineteen incidents. That information has not been released yet but certainly investigators are looking into to which engineer involved and if it has bears any of similarities beyond just the the engine failures so definitely something dinty. Espn's is looking at and as you mentioned. They have quite the team there to look at all of these thinks. Yeah unfortunately they have not been able to recover.

SIA 777 Stopped Climb at 500ft After Crew's Waypoint Entry

"Okay first up. We have an incident. A singapore airlines triple seven stopped. Climb at five hundred feet after the cruise way point. Entry error pilots. Of a singapore airlines boeing triple seven three hundred eighty are inadvertently entered an incorrect waypoint altitude constraint prior to departure resulting in several alerts from the ground proximity warning system as the aircraft climbed out of shanghai prudan. The is put on the. That's what it's going to be exactly right The takeoff runway assign had been changed from three or four left three five right which meant that. The aircraft standard departure route switched from hotel sierra november two x to hotel sierra november. One to this requires updating the flight management computer with a new departure route. The first way point on this route identified as papa delta zero six two did not have any speed or altitude crossing constraint which meant that the field on the computers route display was blank. Although this is not abnormal the captain quote preferred to have the speed constraint explicitly displayed says the singaporean transport safety investigation bureau and its inquiry into the second of september. Twenty nineteen incident. He decided to enter the speak constraint of two hundred and fifty knots as shown on the departure charts the triple seven's flight management computer required speed constraints to have a corresponding altitude constraint. So the captain chose to enter five hundred a meaning that the papa delta zero six two point should be crossed at five hundred feet or above but the captain inadvertently mis-keyed typing five hundred rather than five hundred a which neither crew member noticed. This error meant that the aircraft's autopilot would limit the aircraft of five hundred feet ahead of the way point crossing

"The only other logical explanation as to where the boat ended up is that it could have docked somewhere more clandestine than an actual doc. If the boat was doing something on untoward smuggling people or contraband it makes sense that they might have docked somewhere secretly. If that is what happens then sure. All the people on board got messages home. They were fine hence no one calling in missing people except for that one guy who may be just like wasn't as close with the cousin or whatever as he thought he was. Here's the other thing about the story that makes me. None of the articles explicitly say the boat was lost the bermuda triangle. This is not surprising because officially the bermuda triangle isn't a thing it's not something you'll find on any official map but it is an area of see that has been swallowing up people as long as there have been people there to swallow up. drive home and hopefully lighted the normal traffic and not be worried about any corona virus bugs flying in your windshield mark arum in the bin is with you until eight PM continue our continuing coverage of the corona virus J. blacks gonna join us in just a second before you go back to the calls NJ black let me just take six seconds I could do three hours on this but I've got a lot of friends that are in the medical profession nurses particularly a lot of friends that are nurses they're not they're not gonna get to work from home they're on the front lines doctors nurses healthcare professionals EMTs you guys are awesome that's all you see a nurse the doctor any anti I mean at the doctor but the the nurse in the anti by my meal the doctor can afford his own meal give a Pat on the back her in the face bump but if you see a nurse or medic man they're out there they're not they're not gonna be able to telecommute you guys are doing great jobs the coronavirus has literally rocked the sports world WSB radio sports director Jay black joins us on the market our show J. a lot to digest over the last twenty four hours give us the headlines what's not gonna happen in the sports world right now this day is kind of like I remember one time when you were covering an ice storm in traffic your travel was basically every interstate in Atlanta is closed back to you yes basically much every game is canceled except for golf and racing back to you there you go it's that the headline of course is the NC double a tournament in the final four here Lana that's over the well the one thing about today that surprised me is that not only did the NC double a cancel the final four they canceled every NC double a championship for the rest of the school year that includes baseball softball all the spring sports so basically now if they get to if things calm down later on the poll the games in college will be kind of pointless so the IG second ranked Georgia Bulldogs baseball team they're done for the year that's at the season's over it's not it's not clear if they'll play any conference games that part hasn't gotten settled they'll be no national championship they'll be no College World Series this year well George was a huge contender in baseball softball they're good gymnastics are good there how they were gonna host the swimming and diving thing they're good there as well and and all that's gone now W. zero sports director Jay black the the NBA suspended play yesterday do you think they will come back and finish their season out probably at some point yeah we might that will probably just lock the standings of placing it to an abbreviated playoffs but the all that's kind of on pause right now major league baseball's on pause the only the only thing we got is is the Players Championship in golf and in NASCAR's gonna race that fans at AMS right now it's kind of hard to say where we're going to go with anything then Major League Baseball I'm hearing could be June before things get rolling their spring training was suspended cancelled and the the opening date pushed back two weeks but it could be a lot longer than that to at this point mark nothing nothing surprises me what what do you mean Borgata unprecedented territory here we ARE AT J. black thanks for the update I'll tell you what did surprise me J. before I let you go and this this hits this I talk about how corona virus impacts you we all know my bathroom habits you know I'm a constant hi I'm hyper user the running toilet paper is ridiculous what are you people doing you're right it's so baffling to me you're taking it from needy people like me yes I don't care take all the pure rail and the soaps in the club whatever leave me the Charmin ultra soft J. black why you repeat them all off the shelves that are public man I will apologize for all of our own north west Atlanta area for taking all of your good yeah the time for my one cop man condo to hold all the toilet paper bread milk eggs sanitize yeah leave it to happen you never know valve that blight I do know all right J. black thanks buddy we'll talk to outline his morning news tomorrow with Scott Slade Bobby joins us on the marker show Bobby house coronavirus impacted you my friend almost burned out this weekend there was nothing about the DVR bull riding championship and delete this weekend that's good you know I wish we had chased online hill in old west gate for you and have an update on Atlanta's mornings tomorrow but he was still there this is soft enough warning going on well that's the sort so weird is in and this is just new York city but New York City said it's weird that it's come to this that you can't gather in groups of larger than five hundred people so they killed the other Broadway shows the Metropol museum of art is shut down I will I will guess that we might see similar restrictions here in Georgia where big groups can't come together for anything I mean they've close like all the parades and things out of the for Saint Patrick's day so seven is free up to the smaller cities themselves to say Hey we're done I mean it's good idea not to be in large groups I think you know if if you're hell I I don't I don't want anyone to be a hermit like I went out I went to work today with a waffle house don't be Herman but I'm not going to go to you know field I'm gonna play tonight even Neil Diamond I'm not going to a concert I'm not gonna be there with ten thousand other people watching Jewish Elvis onstage mark is in sandy springs mark Walker the show yeah well my older she's fourteen she's in the middle school band they left for a field trip last night to Indiana eight hundred fifty Bucks for this field trip they give a call when they're halfway there Seattle's department of transportation says in four mornings without highway ninety nine they've seen patterns similar to what the state DOT has seen traffic building. Earlier in the morning starts. In nineteen. Incident. King County metro says the water taxi carried more than twenty three hundred people Wednesday with room for twice that metro did another seventy four standby bus trips. "It out as usable power for the aircraft to fly. So it'll be interesting. Yeah. Sounds like a lot of opportunities there. Well, last week we talked about well the issue of alcohol consumption amongst Japanese pilots in they have an article or two here. One from fortune. Anyway, how Japan Airlines plans to solve as drunk pilot program. This. This says that the the Jau co-pilot that we talked about that was arrested at London's Heathrow airport for being drunk. He actually did take an inhouse Breathalyzer tests, but. It sounds like he cheated on the on the test. I guess the the Breathalyzer that jowl uses doesn't have a tube. So it was not obvious to I guess those around him that he really wasn't blowing into the device. And so he was able to quote pass the test is max is that how you read this son. And also says that the chief pilot wasn't watching him. So it sounds like there should have been some supervision and one of the things that was interesting that's nuisance the show last week. Is that Japan Airlines has said that part of the program that are going to put in place to address this problem is to install more breathalyzers at airports that they serve around the world. Which was interesting to me. I wasn't aware that airlines installed breathalyzers. The the other thing that's kind of interesting is this particular fellow. I was arrested in the Heathrow. And I think we've probably talked about this before they have a limit which is even lower than we have here in the US. So in the US, of course, in California drunk driving would be point. Oh, eight a drunk flying in the United States is point. Oh, four in the UK. It's point oh too. So I think it was pretty easy for an airline. To have a drink or two the night before and still possibly blow a point. Oh, two in the morning, but I will say that the large number of incidents. They've had imagined this nineteen incidents since last August. I mean, that's just an incredible number of drunk pilots that goes well beyond what I would've expected from from any airlines. I would have to say it does sound like they have a distinct problem there. It's not just the gosh that are getting caught by this low limit and it Heathrow. They've got a lot of pilots that are, you know, showing up drunk. Yeah. That is that's a surprising number of them for such a short period of time. Gel says they're going to install and I guess by now, according to the date that was in this article Jau should have installed by now new breathalyzers that include the tube that we're all more familiar with. I think they've also extended their no drinking rule had been twelve hours. Now, they've changed that or extended at least provisionally to twenty four hours before flying. That's not the you know drinking rule. That's the the no fun rule, which which is too bad. I mean, I think when when pilots are at a, you know, destination long way from home, you know, you're alone. I'm not surprised that a lot of folks will have a drink in the evening. So, you know, this is gonna make it a little bit tougher for folks who enjoy doing something like that. Is jowl taking a very aggressive stance on this because they're scared. They might get banned by or decertified by different regulatory agencies. Like, I co- or. Jasa? Well, I imagine that's a possibility. They also I think are sensitive to the the negative publicity of this. I mean, if the public perception comes to be that if you fly jowl, you have a high probability of of there being a knee breeded pilot up front, and that's going to that's going to cause the airline problems. But, but yeah, I I think if that's a good point launch pad if regulatory agencies perceive this to be a particular problem with with Japan Airlines that maybe some some repercussions. Yeah. I think they're doing it. Because it's the right thing to do. But also, they probably realized that they may take revenue hit over time. If people start thinking, well, I got two choices here. I can fly United arcade. Fly the airline that has lot of drunk pilots. I mean, I kind of making that an extreme, you know, comparison. But you know, you look at south west when they had the engine failure. You know, they saw revenues dipped down three to four percents..
