interview with Kate Breakey

"Welcome to the show. Thank you very much. It's a great honor in infect and I went to a legit from now on I went back and watched a whole lot of fees and. What I've seen missing. Thank you. That's very kind of you. Yeah. I very much enjoyed doing it especially when you have a chance with people to talk with people like you. But you're just saying that you raised in Australia and looking at your work. One of the things that I it brings to mind for me as a person who believes sorta appreciate your work is sort of a dearth of relationships that is a city boy have had with with wildlife and nature. Other than cats and dogs, occasional mice, you know. Growing up there really was no relationship with nature at all. I have a little more now because I live near the edge of the Angeles forest. So we get the occasional Bob Cat and bear and you know coyote. But still that connection with wildlife pretty rare and I think that is the case for most Westerners and a lot of your work revolves about their relationship with with animals but I'd love for you to sort of take us back to when you were growing up. In Australia and how that relationship, how that understanding of of of wildlife in relationship to the lives of human beings including us of sort of took shape. I mean I was very lucky. Kid had probably an idyllic childhood because in a a rural country town with. Like NATO Food in scrublands and wilderness, Invest Open spaces and. The Southern Ocean. One big sort of giant playground and there was wild animals, kangaroos everywhere and it was. It was just a lot of allowed animals. Lot of indigenous people obviously living in the towns still have been counted with a match Rura primal idea about the relationships that was just part of the way you incorporated in a way because you knew these people. Trees to climb as said, the Ocean to swim in galloped horses along the beach is kid Babak had like a fabulous life really and again strategies like of untouched food nece and beaches that go on fed miles in is not one single person on the except the odd. Not, to get eaten by shock, which happens routinely. saw. Also, I had parents who were. Interested godless got mystere interested in biology botany end I just grew up sort of fat knowledge is part of my experience of the world and I guess just evolved into love my desire to sort of make images about all of that stuff and so finally enough I've never taken photography 'cause I've never really lived in will victim cities not the kind of cities that kept intense thing going on that becomes. Hugely. Interesting to people who are strafed office. So I've never really taking pictures of people buildings and every now, and then when I get asked to jury show I often get someone else to come and sort of see my selection and I say but you haven't picked one person who. People. including genre he begins it gets a bit by. Anyway. I'm much appreciate I grew up. I went to at school lead freelance all those people who are doing that very conceptual sort of. City staff at copied them. But when it comes right down to what I WANNA do and what I love doing its photographing in the natural world and. Ordering it in this way. So I would say that my childhood absolutely was like the biggest influence in all of that in my life. I love because at the edge of the national forests, we have wildlife particularly the. Coyote packs up. Here. On the social media, I think it's called next door. There are a lot of people who you know who who are probably more city-fied than even I am I know Deauville complain about the coyotes in what they can do about it in my and I think wait a second. Clear in their yard right and it seems like people look at wildlife here as is the the inconvenience even though they live at, you know at the edge of the forest and I think when when I consider your work and your approach to it, you're the dynamic of how people exist with animals is very different from what many of us are used used to and so when you're when you're young you kind of mentioned that you had all that sort of wildlife around you. Talk to me about the relationship might sort of felt like was it like like a we're just we're just temporarily this we're living in their. In their. Not really because you know back then I guess in the sixties, people still went out and show Kangaroos to feed. Wildlife was just part of something that you still kind of used. It wasn't there wasn't a great deal respect for it. You know the Kangaroos are called every year because they basically, there's more kangaroos than they should be. It's like united. So every time there's a drought named died, but people go out and shoot them pharmacy eight them because it was cheap made now they used in. In restaurants because it's considered gourmet neat because it star Lean and good for you. Is All this fusion going on with kangaroo mation. Asian spices in the whole nine yards been to Australia. No not. You know you gotta gotTa sit nate is the best place on earth anyway. And so we had friends who had. Farms or because stations but sheep stations and envy would muster the sheep and then the shears would come in and share them in the be sheepdogs who are just working animals. It wasn't really very romantic. They just happened to be just tons and tons and tons of animals and ahead Ananta Nakal who sort of animal rescuers before it was really official, I would collect up injured bids the anything and bring them in and. Resurrect. Going out to their house, they was just everything was a wombat. There was mad pies. It was Joey kangaroos still a great spirit in Australia because we just had a, you probably know last Christmas we had this dreadful dreadful wildfires where green three billion animals died, and there was a great cold out to people to take animals that were bent to to see if they could be rescued and so sort of regular people do that they go out. In their cars and collect up these things that you know stagnant injured to take them back to the triage animal rescue centers to be either destroyed or treated as I. said that call out to people to to look after them and a surprising amount of people do this because Australia kind of especially, the comic stuff united the the Co Alison the kangaroo is so there is this kindness towards animals and I think because so few people. In this giant continent at so many more. So many wild animals there is a slightly different attitude I. Mean I was GonNa say about city people saying, what are we gonNA do about the coyotes deer eating my vegetable garden you know if you get rid of the coyotes, you'll have more rabbits and end up eating a vegetable garden. You can't control because system you you start ruining at the whole thing goes to hell as we saw Anna, we're getting the pollinate is going the birds in the beast is three billion less birds were in the seventies and they the pollinators and we needed a pollinators. So we actually have trees and on and on and on guys as you know is just becomes this huge horrendous mess. So it's more

In fact, he torched the 40 Niners here for 350 yards passing and three TDs without a turnover hitting 22 of his 28 throws. Vanderbilt-Missouri is the first SEC game postponed due to COVID-19

"We welcome you back. Our is live and underway busy busy I our. Thirty minutes ago we learned that the first SEC game has been postponed of this twenty twenty campaign it will be. Rescheduled Vanderbilt Missouri scheduled for this Saturday in Columbia. Now, be December twelfth. We'll talk to coach drink in thirty minutes and get his reaction to that. So here we go more phone calls in a minute a lot of fans unhappy from every aspect of the winners and losers speaking of the latter. Let's talk about the Lsu Tigers two weeks ago Scott Rabble a came on. Wasn't ready to hit the panic button. Everything was calm. Scott's gotcha very scopes. Scott Seen It all before. Scott. Have you seen anything quite like the ending of Saturday's game? Good afternoon how are you? and got to the NFL Yeah that's that's you mentioned I'm kind of reminded of the and it's not a good time Lsu that ninety nine, Game Alabama when just food he tried to run the ball down like. John elway. Pin Wheeled in the air came up a yard short and and they you know they they threw the ball and the they did it. They didn't score. So yeah, it was. It was reminds me of you not good times for Lsu but you know. I gotta say the way lsu played Saturday. On defense but also on offense failing to convert a third down there really is kind of justice. They didn't really deserve to win that game I, mean they they you know they pulled it out and they would've pulled it out there. It would have been a win that covered up a lot of a lot of issues. So what? I don't know if it's safe to go outside I. Mean I know I know the version fortunately escaped the worst of the storm the other day was farther to the West but I mean what? What what is the buzz in your town especially both Pallini and and I mean three games in he seems like he's on the tip of everyone's tongue is it fair? Oh. Sure? Yeah. Absolutely. I mean this is the this is the defense that You know this change Dave Randall left defensor longtime defensive coordinator WHO's hard under? Les. Miles. You know the several years ago he left me the head coach at Baylor. So they had to hire someone like forced out or anything. So hopefully knew who was here under miles and those first three great years in the Mouse Oh, five Oh, six Oh, seven the end up with a national championship and you know just it hasn't worked at me. This questions is Bo behind the Times is not adjusted to those are some great defensive back then with Clinton Dorsey and Tyson Jackson and and you know you're a great players like that got a little on Landry secondary great players like that, and you kind of wonder you know the Adjusting but. It's just been Y- coaches you're on himself is trying to put it all on him and the coaches and they got a coach better. You said that, Saturday, after the game you set it on his press conference today, they just lost followed. They're they're good players on the Stevens, their high NFL draft pick on the defense Derek Stanley Jacoby Stevens to real cox the transfer for. North. Dakota. State people said he might have been a first round draft pick. Had He come? Out and said of transferring Ali Gay Defensive End they lost a lot of great players, but this shouldn't be this bad and aurons You know famously said, then the all season, the defense look better in practice than at any time last year, and obviously that is not the case and they gave up eight plays a twenty yards of more. Missouri averaged almost nine yards per play and five and a half yards per carry it and it just that's just not. That's just not winning football and worst of all they all she just looked. I saw gene gene Chizik said after the game. So you. Look, like on Defense Soft and lost, and Lsu looks like both unfortunately for them. By, the way everything you just got through saying you could replicate for three or four other SEC schools except none of them are the defending champions like Lsu. Scott we're three games in I. Mean we all know that and I'm not sure how much you can value. A. Win Over Vanderbilt Right now considering the state of that program. But as you look ahead I, mean you don't look any farther than this weekend against Florida. LSU will need to score seventy points to keep up with them. Immediate? Looks. That way and I'm not a betting Guy Pa, my government I think I've looked at the over maybe go for that Florida's defense looks pretty challenge to Alabama wins and gives up forty eight points to stole miss. But the the disturbing serving big frail issue. Yeah. Everyone's having trouble defensively No question. Do you wonder if that lack of spring football or the proper time to prepare in the off season has hurt them But you know you look at that once you give six, hundred, twenty, three guys and the Mississippi State, history has been dreadful offense against Arkansas and Kentucky the last two weeks Missouri scored like I think three touchdowns combined the first Games averaging like fifteen points a game against Alabama Tennessee and it just go wild lsu just look great. I mean that's that's the part. That's that's extra disturbing prelates pans and like the lsu fans always. Always wanted this offense obviously, they complained for years and rightly. So by the the plotting less miles offense, but there's a lot of pride in the school, the the the the billy cannon is the star up in you know and and now Joe Borough and players like that. But the tried is always been the defense, the Chinese bandits, Tommy Tests Inova Win Dorsey Laurent Landry mentioned, Patrick, Peterson, Taran Taran Matthew, and what else he doesn't play Great Defense I. Think this is this is like a core value of lsu's program that is not being being held a lived up to, and it's it's very troubling Tila lsu probably would take a little less offense for some better defensive as. Scott Realistically I mean this weekend looks like a long shot I would have to say I mean still Alabama. Out There Auburn out there. South, Carolina am I mean everyone knows the schedule? I mean before the season some might be hard to win them all but maybe maybe eight or nine. Where's the sliding scale right now? Ball I don't know it's sliding really. Really. Bad way down the hill. You know a lot of hills here in Baton Rouge but he found it. It's sledding Hill that way. Down Victory Hill Yes for the team marches down normally before the Games by Tigers stadium is not vitriol right now I I like everybody else said like the six games else who's GonNa win and four games where the season's going to be decided Alabama Auburn Florida and Texas a&M, and right now I don't think he can after South Carolina just banning by the same score Lsu did Arkansas has played. She's gotTa go to they'll South Carolina, comes here in in two weeks I don't I don't think. There's any Sherwin left for L. Share on the schedule I don't think they're gonNA go one nine but I think right now you just gotTa. Look at what can you do to have a have a winning season they're still good players There's on this team in town they lost a lot from last year obviously, but you know the they've got to. Change, the things coach today coach talk today about simplifying both offense and defense. Again remember the offense was Owen on third down Saturday that's a pretty bad step to although this court forty-one points should have been enough to win, but it's still some really great players on the House Brennan. Has Not Been, Joe Borough, been very good. You know he's had over three hundred yards passing game over four hundred yards Saturday tariffs, marshalls been tremendous hit two, hundred, thirty, five, yard service and three touchdowns Saturday. So this, this isn't good players in the team, but they just got to get tougher and and find a way to grind out a win somewhere and and this is not entirely similar fall I gotta say from twenty. Dissimilar from twenty seventeen she lost at home Detroit and went to Florida the next week and they won the game I'm not saying I'm not predicting she win. But this have the size, a lot of field of that when they kind of looked tougher and more determined and they found a way to win and they've never looked back games on order on, they're gonna be hard pressed to avoid doing that obviously late this week. He had I wouldn't call it a charm to existence because now that you mentioned the troy game and there had been some ups and downs but certainly coming off the best year ever how is he handling the defeats? A He's he's trying to take a lot of the blame on himself and deflected from his team Not exactly deflecting from the assistant coaches said, he's talked about, hey, on defensive we just have one coverage and one one formation. Let's do that. Let's and you said. Some things on offense too. I think he's kind of talking about Scott Lenihan, the new guy, a passing game coordinator WHO and Red Zone specialists who take the place of Joe Brady who who was on the staff last year and of course talking about Botha? Lenient? Coach, and he said something telling today I thought that you said, you know the most Ryan. The defense but he he's he's going to you know be checked in on every formation every plan that they use you know as a defensive line coach that's his forte he he's going to be I think maybe a little more hands on with the formations they use and the and the and the coverages, and but some of that are doing well, he's Got Thrown out I think that. This is the defense he wanted this is he talking about being wardrobe four three and they've got a great. Turn of Russia there plus six turnover ratio they're doing very well at that the they're causing some some big plays in that in that regard and turnovers just can't get off the field and can't Can't stop people and giving up a big big yards on the ground, and then these these huge places. The elected eight plays a twenty yards or more Saturday and gets very, which is

"Because we like to do that we do so carries parents were Nancy and denny. And they fell in love with Nancy's just nineteen years old and then he was twenty one. They got married in nineteen seventy then in nineteen, seventy, two, their son Adam was born. Followed by Carey in nineteen seventy four. Nancy chose Adams name. So then he was to choose Carrie's name. Nancy wanted to name their daughter Kelly. Yes but after Kerry, well, yeah I guess Danny had seen this young girl singer on the Johnny Carson show I think it was really liked her thought she was talented and like the name Kerry. But then he changed the spelling to see a R. I Which I guess. Kind of. Plagued Carey in her youth because everyone was always misspelling her name. You gotta be careful with that. Right you do and this is before there were so many made up spellings like there are now me now you know that they're going to have special spellings of the kids names a lot of the time whatever whatever name you pick. Yeah exactly. The double E. The L. G. H. You know. All different variations, but anyway, Kerry had a hard time with people. Either mispronouncing or misspelling her name because of that. These were young kids when they got married they didn't have a lot of money at least early on. Danny work two jobs. And then finally he got a good paying position as an insurance actuary. This folks actually make pretty good money. Nancy was a skilled secretary. She is always organized and efficient. But like a lot of young marriages, it didn't last. So and Adam was four and can carry with eighteen months. Old Appearance got divorced. Adam maintain a close relationship with his father. Kerry was young when the divorce happened. So she was closer to her mother. But then he was a good father and carry visited him often as she got older. In nineteen seventy nine Nancy had been on her own for three years and it had been nine years since she had spoken to her high school sweetheart mark rainy. Nancy and mark were children together and their parents were really good friends. So in their parents would get together when they were kids Nancy and mark would play together along with their siblings. Now, once she was in junior high nancy began to notice mark romantically and he was one year ahead of her in school, but they continued to see each other. Nancy was shy and mark was the class clown and they were a couple from the time. She was fourteen until she completed high school. They used to go out on double dates go to concerts dances the whole nine yards. Yard then she met Denny and dump them right or are they broken up before I know of it was that simple? I mean, they attended different colleges. So mark was an art major in Missouri and Nancy went to business school in des, Moines Iowa, and that's where she met Denny. So I wouldn't say she dumped mark. You know that kind of thing happens that does yeah. So by the summer of Nineteen seventy-nine, Nancy had been a single mom for a while. And when she is invited to a friend's wedding back in her hometown of Macedonia.

The Xbox Series X Games Showcase

"The Sega Genesis and the mega drive as well. But my friend, it's a consul of a different kind that was showcased earlier today. We're recording this and that was the xbox series. X was on full display. Ours the power, and see all the Nice Shiny Games that are coming out very soon in the not too distant future Oh. At least we hope so, but some I. Know are not going to be there at the time of launch, but. It is the experts series x showcase, some of the games that were announced and shown off games like a new Ford shock upon all shocks. A new four is coming out. What do you know? New Fable game which I know, a lot of people are excited about as dusk falls nice, interactive sort of really different, looking Cel, shaded cartoonish, but with a serious serious dramatic side to it that would really looks very interesting, stated decay three. It's been a very big hit for. So far so coming out with state of decay, three process far X which I believe is support. That is coming over as well with the XBOX series x upgrade and boost the medium ever wild rounded. All Great Games look very nice, but very interesting. And Hail infinite had a ton of minutes out there actually few minutes out there that showed off and showcase as far as new gameplay is concerned. I percents liked the best avowed, which has a very oblivion esque type, look and feel. I'm going to be honest with you. My friend everything nice and shiny everything looked nice, glossy looked a little bit better than what the playstation five had offers far as the Shiny Games. Maybe the textures were popping a little bit better for me on the XBOX series X. Games. The playstation against were shown off. But, the lack of games that were shown off period can asked me disappointed overall. Yeah, honestly, man. It's been such a weird year for video games, you know we allege allegedly self, cyberpunk and assassin's creed coming out here but like. Playstation had a similar. Similarly disappointed with xbox as I am with playstation, but still I got you know I'm a little excited about it and also like Nintendo did their little mini direct, and like their big game was WHAT TEN CITATION FORGET! The name of the game is called, but you know it's just that there's not really I I'm curious if a lot of these companies are keeping things close to their chest, because of the covid thing like they don't know win. These games are going to be able to come out, but. You Know I. Yeah, it was cool to see halo infinitives cool to see. The announcement of new fable and Forza, but yeah a lot of these games they showed were kind of like they made. You wonder is this. Is this the biggest thing that they have coming out because I? Don't know if you noticed but a lot of the Games. xbox shows they have very. It doesn't really look like they're utilizing the capabilities of the new constantly. Brag about it, side, it's they're very like cartoony in animated. And they're not really highlighting like it looks like something that could be played on the xbox one. Again it did. They were look nice looking games. They were very nice looking games. But. It was just the fact that there weren't enough. Plus like I said, it's just seemingly that there are a step behind what place has to offer. When playstation debuted over thirty games, and they were right around the single digits to double digits hovering around ten. That's not a good ratio. My friend, obviously some of these playstation games on playstation five. That'll becoming, too. It will be going on both systems, and that's understandable, but it just seemed to me that the playstation press conference was a little bit better prepared than what Xbox had offer, and I think this point in time. I can clearly say that playstation one this first round as far as I initial impressions are concerned. Will Not with me though because I think xbox did a better job in like actually saying hey is a console launch. Title is something. We have a sort of window. Whereas playstation didn't give us any windows, no early states you know. They showed a lot of games on the playstation, but they didn't show us anything that we're going to be. Laying soon, and I think that's where Microsoft did a better job than playstation. Did though not a lot better than what playstation did, but I don't know. I'm been reading a lot of headlines already with like there's Kotoka and polly on their all attacking xbox and. For like little things how they didn't address like backwards compatibility than they're saying. Oh, this is not going to have xbox so want support anymore. They didn't talk about that say they weren't GonNa? Habit is I don't know it's kind of petty. The way a lot of these journalists kind of jumped to conclusions, but you know I can get why people would like. Play the playstation. Playstation conference better also get why people like the xbox better I like the xbox one better, but that's just because I have more love for some of the Games that they showed of the experts conference as opposed the Sony Conference for example really loved the halo in it, but it's you know love. The master chief's grappling. Hook like that was that was read and. I was disappointed in show another trailer for Hell. Blade and there's some other things like I. Don't know why they would show war. Hammer like that's kind of a game that. There's not a lot of like xbox you know fandom for that one avowed looks cool, and is from what I understand part of the pillars of eternity franchise. But Yeah I don't know like state of decay. Three I'm not like super stoked on. Do WanNa talk about some of these games there. They showed again I. Want to go back to avowed because that was the one that was I'm like That looks like a a successor to oblivion. I could really get into and could be because I've said before sky rim. I played thirty hours and I got stuck in the bug, and I couldn't get back. I still have it on the shelf. Right here. I'm just not going. I've gone back to it. I may go back to it, but I'm just. It didn't Hook me like oblivion, did and this to be so much more war about what oblivion had offered the deep contents. If, I get an xbox series X. it's four that game. Rather, new four is a new force always comes out with new system and I. Mean they're the type of games that can actually rule just showcase a new system, and how good the graphics are, and the res- The colors the shading all the nine yards, those racing games do it the best of course a new force. It was coming out. A new fable was very interesting, so. Saying something that was rumored to be worked on and to be working on, so i WanNa hear your thoughts on the new fable on the way. Could it be something that we could really get back into a series, or is it just too many years gone by? No I think that it is something we everyone will get back into I think even new players will get into because the the great thing about fable is that it's much like the final fantasy games. It's all a stand alone game. You know that there's nothing that feeds into. The next game granted in like two and three. They reference like the heroes of and they're talking about your character, and obviously like what you did in that game. They talk about that a little bit, but it's not. They're like. These games are like hundreds of years apart from each other, so yeah, no I definitely think especially if it's just being called fable, yeah, you almost like God a war like it feels like it's going be a new beginning. What worries me about the fable trailer though is? Is that. There is no game play. You know if there's no game play. It leads me to believe it's going to be twenty. What twenty twenty two at the earliest before we get our hands on this game up and I it feels much like the the was the elder scrolls six trailer. They showed it three last year with like our. You know we're not like actively working on this kind of work on air is a little video of some sky and stuff and you can of. Make your own assumptions on it. That's like this one was just that cute animation of the fairy. Get need of Ferrari and that was. It was a funny trailer, but yeah I just I. I don't have any hope for seeing it soon. Statue of former Washington Redskins owner removed at RFK

"Okay. Players in the NBA. Wow, that's that's that's him a revelation. My goodness be sure to catch live editions of the odd couple with Chris Broussard Rob Parker Weekdays at seven PM Eastern Four PM Pacific on Fox sports radio and the iheartradio APP. There's an interesting story that came out today. The statue in Washington the statue of the former redskins owner George Preston Marshall was removed from RFK stadium. So, he was against, he was the former owner, but he was against integrating the franchise in the early nineteen sixties. So props to them for removing it. But I. Here's what I'm going to say as we see all of these confederate statues. Flags being removed now you you see the statue of the redskins owner. There was another one I can't remember the college. I think it was a college perhaps where there was another statue removed. I say go. Let's go the whole way. And start changing the names of these teams that are these nicknames that are Indian nicknames and look I'm not an expert on native American culture. But I I would say leave it up to the native Americans. But! Redskins is a racial slur. That'd be like the. Hat calling the team. The say ambles or the end words. I mean that's what it is, and my thing is this. If we really are against racism. You can't just be against racism that affects black people. You have to be against racism that affects all of the people that have been hurt by it in this country and the native Americans clearly. Were hurt by it. And so the only difference Allison. Obviously, there were different forms of oppression. Slave reverses annihilation darn near annihilation. But. The only difference in why the names of these native these native American nicknames remain. Is because native Americans by and large don't have the power in American society that blacks do so. Blacks have the power to make noise. We have become part of popular culture through our athletes are entertainers politicians? We have actors in the whole nine yards we have. People who do we have enough power to make noise to complain to March to protest and we have enough numbers being twelve thirteen percent of the population. So, they wouldn't dare have a team nickname a black slur at this point. And now they're removing all these other elements of the culture that have been offensive to black people, but we gotta do the same thing for the native Americans they just don't have the population to make a lot of noise about it or the power, but if we're really against. Him How can we pull down these symbols of black Oh Prussian, but not pulled down these symbols of native American oppression. And I don't look I. Don't know about the seminoles. Is that you know again I would leave it up to the native Americans. But if the native Americans, I know, some of them are differ in their opinions, but get their leaders. To African Americans. Get our leaders to speak on stuff. Get their leaders if they're leaders feel like these things are offensive. The braves the Indians the Redskins, maybe even the chiefs. If they feel like they're offensive change the names period and I think it should be. There should become a part of the conversation. This is interesting. Chris I gotta be I gotTA. Plead ignorance here I never looked into what the name redskins beans. Did you ever think to look it up or anything? Well, just think about it, though Redskins, it's like saying black skins are yellow skins, or I mean we know the contentious relationship to the least between the whites and the and the native Americans. When I grew up. Honestly you know it was the stereotype of scalping. Indians and things like that. Those were stereotype. Even Cater Bait yesterday I learned. Something I'd never knew that's enough I. Had you not the black? The black players didn't know and that's my point. If we are eliminating stuff like that and I'm not saying we shouldn't, but that's minor stuff right there. There's a lot of mine. American there is a lot of minor stuff, and this is interesting because we're seeing. We're trying to seem like. We're getting rid of all these symbols. Guy That you said they were moved to statue. George Preston Marshall, so he and a group bought the Boston braves, and they ha. They had also the braves and the Redskins, so there was some kind of connection for them to native Americans now I don't know why. If you're naming a team, you would name it the braves and the reds. Would you name it after I mean most the bears, the tight you know, most of these names are are yeah. Boy. I guess cowboys is. Doesn't make sense to me my only pushback and again I'm not saying this shouldn't be done is. If, we're trying to tell these young athletes. Hey, Dwayne Haskins quarterback of the redskins. You shouldn't suit up this fall until they changed the name of the Redskins, and then we pit the young. african-american quarterback and his whole team will, it wouldn't be a

Jeff Passan on MLBPA's Return-To-Play Proposal

"The negotiations between Major League Baseball and the Players Association to start the two thousand twenty season, Continue Jeff Passan reported. Reported last night that the player Ford a counterproposal on Sunday, in which they suggested a one hundred and fourteen game season from June thirtieth to October. Thirty first, which Jeff wrote is expected to be immediately dismissed by the League. The union remained steadfast. The players should receive their full prorated salaries. The Union did suggest possible salary defers than acknowledgment by the players that amid the coronavirus, pandemic and unrest. Flow issues could prove problematic for the owners The players proposal also included the idea of an expand class for two years major league. Baseball's proposal suggests one year postseason that goes from ten teams to fourteen a salary advance of one hundred million dollars split among players during the second spring training, additional commitments to players, wearing microphones in the field and other broadcasts enhancement, and there was an offer to hold events such as an off season, all star game or Homerun Derby to generate additional revenue. This was a hopeful Development Sean doolittle, the nationals. Reliever tweeted out that the Washington major leaguers will provide salary relief to minor leaguers. Who saw their salaries cut last week? Covers baseball for ESPN, and Jeff we just went through the details of your report from last night. I think the most important question this morning is what's next? It's a great question buster because I think what's next is going to be the most important element of this entire thing in that is. What's the reaction of owners after the unions first proposal? And I think you did a great job in your Sunday, notes column of pointing out the fragility of this on account of there, being owners who don't WanNa play in two thousand and twenty. If this proposal angers the the League side owners in particular enough where what is a relatively small block of honors, now suddenly starts to gain a little bit of political traction in trying to convince some of the more moderate owners that this is a lost cause, and it's just not worth playing the two thousand twenty season. Then I think they're actually in trouble, but if if the. door being cracked open for furrows which it was done in this proposal leads to something more substantive and productive. I think something can come together on relative quick order because that's that's how it has to like. If they want to play this year, something needs to get this week and it's on owners right now to come back and really facilitate that after the players offer. Deaf I'm glad that they're talking I. Mean it's a good thing that they're talking because there's been so much time that's passed in the last Three and a half years since the CBA of two thousand sixteen, in which they haven't been talking, but my God they are so far apart. It's incredible to me. The what this is shutdown lake March twelfth thirteenth, and yet it still feels like to use the football comparison. It's like we're at the one yard line. There's about fifty eight seconds to go and there ninety nine yards of field ahead of them when you're talking about the financial issues. Either the safety protocol, and then the challenge of pulling everything together which I'm sure you're hearing the same thing from general managers. That I am like this is not something you can just execute overnight. No in regarding that latter part I assume that that they have known for awhile now. What the expectations are going to be and I I know some general managers that I've talked with said they're. They're trying to get their facilities in order, so you know secondary, club houses and a lot of the things that are in the health and safety protocol. They've at least been trying to start, but let's let's look at the logistics of getting everybody around the country right now. between coded and. And and the civil unrest that's going on travels knock going to be particularly easy and getting people from place to place city city. You don't even know where you're. Joe It half the time when it comes to either get into the city or are you going to be your Spring Training Facility? I mean these these are all open questions right now. but yeah I I would say instead of the one yard line. You've got like both sides in their tunnels right now or in their. I mean that that is how far apart they are, and and the biggest question to me has been.

Guest Teacher Matt Johnson On How To Use Podcast Interviews To Build Relationships

"Denise Teacher Magic Johnson wants to help you get more interviews in front of a lot of audiences as well as build relationships along the way he specialized in this craft, and actually has a whole program on it, but luckily he's here today to show you how to get started. I'm on around thirty to fifty different podcasts as a guest every single year and I should be doing more because the opportunity is there and it is actually a lot of value. It's a lot of value for. For the time you're going to be putting into these interviews, remember podcasts are evergreen so once it's recorded, and it's in the podcast feed. People can go back and listen to it over and over again new listens will listen to your interview for years to come, so you reap the benefits for years after you actually were interviewed but I'm GonNa. Let Man Johnson get into all the details. I'll be back to wrap up today's episode and give my takeaways, but for now take it away Matt. Everybody welcome back. It's Matt Johnson and we're GONNA. Talk about the four ways to upgrade your relationships in your network using podcast interviews now here, let me set the scene for you, so let's say you're going on podcast and your guest, which is awesome Some of the people that you're going to be interviewed by are in and of themselves ultra successful. podcasts does these days are not just people who are looking to make money and monetize a podcast. A lot of the the successful podcasts hosts are in their own right experts. Entrepreneurs Ultra successful business coaches, consultants, speakers, authors, the whole nine yards. These the people that you want to be connected with these are the people that can refer you speaking engagements. They can help promote your book. They have a big email list that they might be able to promote your latest. Service offering these are the people that you want to be in relationship with because they can send you business, not just be a client. They can send you a stream of clients, and so you. WanNa turn those podcasts interviews with them into not just them interviewing you and then moving on any never talk to each other again. You'RE GONNA. Turn them into real real relationships and we're GONNA. Talk about four insider tactics to do that number one. After the interview when you're chitchatting behind the scenes after the record button is off, ask them. Hey, just out of curiosity. Like how can I help? Who Can? Who can I keep an eye out for to introduce you to like? Who is that person in your world? That that would really make a difference. And I can tell you the difference that's made for me in my life to ask people that question I literally cannot express how it almost stops people in their tracks and causes them to completely go. While I first of all I appreciate Let me let me think okay well. You know I'm looking for this type of person. Even if they can't come up with something, and even if the person they're looking for is not someone that you know right away in your life that you can send an introduction email. That's fine. The questions were count and the genuine offer if it's January. The genuine offer is what really makes an impact. It's absolutely incredible now. I'll tell you I. did this with with a gallon I had on on my podcast. And I just wanted to thank her for her time and ask that same question and. She mentioned that was looking for people to speak at her women's conference in Texas, the said okay. I think I have someone for you I didn't think anything of it. I made a simple introduction email behind the scenes I get a message from the person I introduced you to her two. Weeks later like I had completely forgotten that I'd made the introduction I got this incredible facing measure the city. I just wanted to thank you. That was life changing. I've found my tribe. It was so awesome like I can't wait to tell you about it. Can we please set up a calls that I can tell you how much I appreciate that introduction like that absolutely blew me away. The same thing will happen to you especially as you get into the habit of asking people who you can introduce them to, and then being intentional about actually making strategic introductions behind the scenes, so that's number one officer strategic introductions wherever possible follow through and actually do it. Number two. Insider tactic to turn and podcast interviews into relationships is send a follow up note now. This is if you're busy entrepreneur. This is ridiculously hard to do most of us and I will tell you sitting down and doing the actual handwritten note cards slapping him into an envelope putting a stamp on it throwing in the mailbox. A step too far can do it like way way too way too hard for me. so what I did. Is I I told my my va for my log for the company called. Send out cards. actually got. Right here actually I received this one. And very nice card from a friend of mine, and basically I can build this card in their. APP and have a handwritten note and written right handwritten. Looking note the goes into is sent from the APP and I. Can send it out to anybody. I want so what I did is I built a low system with my overseas va I gave her. Her my log in for the send out cards account and every day she goes into my calendar, and she looks at who I had caused with the previous day sends me a message on boxer and says hey. I see to call John, Smith and Sarah Johnson, and whatever Hey, would you like me to send cards to and I will say okay. Okay. Send cards to these three people and I. Just give her a voice message to tell exactly what I wanted to say in each card. Teach different person she reaches out sends him. A nice email, says hey. Matt would like to send you a thank you note. He really enjoyed talking to you the other day. Would you mind sending your mailing address so that we can send you a nice a nice car? always get a response. First of all the response we get to that email alone would blow you away. then when we actually follow through in the actually get the note I get thank you notes to the thank you. Notes

"Who should get priority when it comes to getting their jobs back LA county supervisors gonna be talking about that today specifically when it comes to hospitality workers can extend seventies Craig Victor has that part of our coverage well as hospitality workers say Hey that we're we're we're the ones who were laid off we should get the jobs back first when those hotels begin to re hire and today the LA County Board of supervisors will take up what's known as the right to recall ordinance and slightly it's likely going to pass and if it does when hotels do begin to re open and re hire workers in unincorporated LA county the workers who were laid off at hotels with at least fifty rooms or more those workers will be first in line for their jobs back holidays the whole nine yards right and it's important that that the workers who built those standards are also the workers that go back to those standards when our economy recovers that's one labor leader in an online town hall kind of explaining this to people and how it would work the city of LA passed a very similar ordinance last month the city of Long Beach gonna take one up later this

New Orleans Saints agree to terms with QB Winston on one-year contract

"Yahoo Sports is Charles. Charles Robinson reports at Norrland's is finalizing a one year deal with Winston. The former buck coming off a five thousand one hundred nine yards season thirty plus touchdowns three interceptions and immediately eyebrows. Raised the idea that Winston would stay in the division. Go to the Saints. Backup drew brees. He enters the mix with Tatum Hill. Who IS SUPPOSED TO BE? And maybe still is the heir apparent To breeze so it just leads to a lot of unsolved mysteries in its own right greg your thoughts when you heard the news that Winston may be and quite possibly is headed to the saints I I wasn't shocked because I I what I did. This hashtag setup into your own comet with a big way. Why why you made your Greg sounding you often. I got it. I wasn't gonNA say anything but then mark reacted to it and I can't help myself but go ahead. I did this Saints Twitter Pot. Podcast just knew that way wolf as podcasts. Him into my buddy Adam and they were saying they were hearing. This was going to happen before the draft so they got sources on the inside and and they ended up being proven right and it makes all the sense in the world of your Jameis Winston and makes sense of. You're the saints too. I think you get a chance to get Jameis. Winston in the building for a year probably drew brees his last year. We haven't heard any financial terms the Jameis Winston deal you know was reported on before the Taste Hill extension Came out and the money that was involved. That extension came out. Part of me does wonder. Is this deal for absolute sure does did Winston know about that before he he came determines but either way he? He should do the deal. Because if he can somehow impress Sean Payton or if he can end up getting in the lineup and being as backup like Teddy Bridgewater What better place to possibly learn because damis Winstons still has a lot to learn but he also has a lot of talent a guy that throws for five thousand yards can do things in the NFL and like there's no better place to learn. Other than to undo. Breezy and Sean Payton.

Only Connect - the critical importance of relationships and how to grow them

"Have Welcome to amazing. Fbi This is your host Michel Visi. Walk into the show today. It's appropriate on speaking cheese. Stunning up I recently spoke at the White Liberal Expo in London in November. Twenty nine thousand nine now. I can't reveal anything yet about this exciting speaking engagements coming up. I want to share with you. Just got off the phone with somebody earlier today often very exciting opportunity. Which I've said yes please with both hands and I just got off to that with somebody who has been exploring what can with mentoring client. Who actually has some very serious cop behind him and a lot of business experience in the end we are discussing the possibility that I may work with them. As sort of that part of the team were more of an agency basis. I guess van on `simple consulting basis and what struck me about this is also relevant to what I was talking about with the five business models I've mentioned in the last podcast which is to say retail arbitrage online arbitrage wholesale relationships private label and agency model the five Mesa. I know often that people that I know work with to make themselves money on Amazon and bill businesses of various different kinds. I'm one of those reflecting. Was the common thread amongst some of these things that I'm really conscious today of all days. It's relationships again. People could get a bit separated between the reality of what drives money transactions online and the mechanism itself so the mechanism itself is kind of magic. How many of you got something like Amazon? As kind of magic. Because it manages to bring millions and millions and millions and millions of eyeballs every single day to products and the conversion rates are incredible. They produce an amazing customer experience which includes incredible ability to fulfil products in other words. They ship stuff. They stole stuff. They have an incredible machine that they built many many years of hard work by this was not always the case. These things that Grow Adam. No Way they've worked incredibly hard and they were first movers as well. Plus Jeff Basis. Whatever else you may think that Various business processes is a shopping shop. Is Guy Probably on the planet right now for my money at least in the textile base the movie somebody shot him coming up through the can take his crown but he smart enough to know that so my money he still the most proven smart guy out there and guess what the reality of it is that behind every transaction bowl though they have built this wonderful magic machine and it is kind of magic when it works and it often does even though anyone who's been sending anonymous while knows you have to get the rest of this means that it's like Magic Butts. The thing is on the other side of that. Transaction is a person buying a product and the more I'm always going on about this and I make no apologies for the more. You understand your customer. If you'RE GONNA be private labeling anyway or anything that you get to influence the listing. So if you're working with the wholesale account if you have some listening control you certainly should do this as well. You've got to really really really meet the customer weather. Also you have to understand the mentality. So in the end it's about people and the processes are way to bridge the gap between the pest producing product and the consumer. Another thing to say is that of course relationships and to the equation when you talk about supply if you are private labeling you have a relationship with the guys new factories and actually if you're serious private label as one of the Maas. My members in ten K. collective mosman recent experience. When he went to China I think it was actually last year. They went They literally had the red carpet experience at all. The the people lined up along the streets on the way to the tree they had Miniature music playing you know the usual the whole nine yards as I say so. This is an example of how important they had become too that factory based on it has to be said the relationships based on volume when it comes to supplies off Physical products the manufacturers. Not School supplies. In fact supplies can include anybody who you pay for services or products so put in a broader sense that includes people like Neil coaches or mentors or personnel. Runs a mastermind. Such is the mic guys in the mosman happened. The ten collective mastermind includes you'll photographer. It includes anyone who writes your listings for includes any agency that you might use for managing oh PPC your Amazon ad for example and those are all relationships yes they may be mediated via websites via online software. Whatever but the main thing to remember all the stuff is man-made or it is person made I should say artificial notice the word artificial mean it means made by hand made by hand so it is not something that grows organically like a tree or something all these things that create you by people full people and if we lose sight of that we lose sight of what for me personally and maybe this is not a software engineers where I've looked at the world or an engineer's wherever what for for me personally. What's behind all of this stuff is in the end? Relationships wholesale is an interesting one where we have probably even more of a delicate impulsive relationship with the people that you buy wholesale from now. I have to say cause on. The tape is something. They'll have almost no past experience. I'm learning going through a course at the moment. I'm learning all about that. I'm very excited to get out and try my hand at this but I know that in the end sometimes these distinctions between the business models are artificial anyway. Because I was looking to have a relationship with a brand owner and fat doesn't own a Brian yet. But somebody he's got a serious business but it is looking into private labeling house going to have the conversation about having a consulting relationship with them and then in fact we're probably going to have more of an agency relationship will actually help implement a lot of this stuff and maybe. I'll end up hiring more staff to deal without a skeleton stuff that I can tend to to Amazon specific activity by that Cetinje. Something that We can develop out as needed and then of course. The next thing I'm going to be doing is trying to get the same relationship with some wholesale browns who I might initially start for the relationship while I just give the money and they put us and we might end up in a sort of partnership so I guess what I'm saying about this. This includes even speaking forum at conferences. Or anything like that. Again is a partnership. Because the the P the conferences needs speakers and speakers me needs to get exposure of the brandon message so in the end so much in my experience business well comes down to the same stuff the experience in the music world. Which even though it been doing the E commerce as my main business my main job or profession for several years now that Still keep behind him with music. I still love my music and does not actually as much of a division as I thought because in the end I think the thing that I found most powerful mice exciting in the music making was relationship between the former audience between the conducts and the orchestra of like the the leader in the team and between people in a do a partnership where you have a a singer work with pianist or something in the end. What was interesting to me is is relationships. I love music. Also very fascinated by intellectual game and the sort of Sport if you like a business because in the end you have skin in the game and asset Nicholas Mac never say his name Nassim. Nicholas Talib forgive me if I put Mr Todd says having skin in the game basically makes you make better decisions so effectively makes you smarter and I love that about business. But the common thread through all of this stuff that struck me very very strongly today after she really powerful phone calls of people is relationships nowadays. Start all of this view starting from scratch. I think you need to just be a couple of things. You need a bit of structure to create a relationship with somebody who can help train you and that doesn't just mean a mentor or coach Could willingly it probably means a group of you'll pay is now. I think you should be selective about you. Mean by because the people aren't taking action is a majority of people in any course for example they all your peers. If you're an action taken by the way reality check if you're one of the people that talks a lot and doesn't take action. Abby not person every so often and I can still end up in their. Don't kick myself in the button and get on with it. Then you'll peers. Are The people doing the same things you might? Just be real about that. You'RE NOT GONNA get into group of action takers. If you're not an action taker. So you got to start is chicken and egg but you gotTa Start Yourself. You're going to have some hungry yourself. He depend on other people to do the work for you which is another thing about partnerships. I guess even if you were more sophisticated person for private label seller in you considering possibly branching into running an agency or if you Of a private label sal and you want to add wholesale to add some stability to the mix of easy cash flow whatever it is then again. A lot of it comes down to ability and encourage in relationships and a Dan. Mattis said the other day who teaches wholesale. But it's true. I think across all sorts of business models within the e commerce. An Amazon sphere as has broadly. The truth is with the relationship if you all very very hit to what the other person in the relationship needs to serving that person and you are determined to serve them whether or not you're immediately getting paid or even if you never get paid then that mentality that that's orientation to the rest of the world will serve you very very

NFL explains why there was no pass interference called on play that eliminated Saints

"We're going to. We're going to make football show because that's what people like over the weekend. Everybody who listens to this show presumably watched all of the football games or most of all of the football guess. He missed the playoffs playoff in Hawaii. The yes I missed that one Justin Thomas I saw this morning. I thought it was really nice but I missed it last last night because it came on pretty late We're going to do you because the ratings of the NFL up all across the board because the interest in the NFL is up all across the board and because each of those those games was quite interesting in its own way including terrible terrible. Coaching decisions by both coaches in the Houston Buffalo Game. We're going to talk about out this for an extended period of time in the first segment. Michael Wilbon will join us in second segment. We're GONNA limit news and go right to old guy where we're going to talk about the Golden Globes and the matchups for next week. That's what we're going to the show probably the same length. But I WANNA do it if you don't mind I WANNA do it that way also. WanNa thank Clarendon Tola for Baking Cooke's for Claire Gary Braun Chris Cillizza Michael Kornheiser Nigel. Who has nothing to do except for on the boards because we're not sleep keeps pressing one button? So He's been news cancelled forever now just today. If you don't mind especially the best thing is not gonNa work out just I you know I'm old and I thought why not like Michael said to me last night we were talking about the possibility of of Michael. Are you shaking your head. You don't want me to. Would you go ahead down the fourth wall. People talking about Mike Lees. I won't share this on air dead. Yeah go ahead Michael Says Cillizza how how do we get rid of him. Nicely to the change in the show today. I let's start. Let's start with yesterday's which is going to go backwards. I'm just can start with the Minnesota game because of all the games the end result of that game is the most surprises so like I said on the PTI show on Friday. I'll take Tennessee. Plus Five Live and a half all day and all night doesn't mean I think they're gonNA win. I'm GONNA take those points New Orleans. Losing at home in overtime to Minnesota is stunning drew. BREES did not have a great game he had a very bad fumble in drive. That could have changed in the fourth quarter changed. Everything around. He got picked never gets picked. I mean he did not have a great game. There are three quarterbacks forty years old and up over the weekend and they all lost. We'll get to that but even with brees not having a great game. They tied the game. They got into overtime there at home and they yielded the first drive. That's it see around. see you around Kirk cousins who. I am extraordinarily critical of on a regular basis was very good and kirk cousins to Adam Adam field and had to make up for fumble early. You know but I don't feel did that pass. That wins the game. Now there's a third downplay because what you don't want to do is have to kick a field goal because because you don't want to give New Orleans the ball on the one. Yeah you don't WanNa do that. On the third downplay they go in the left. Hand top corner of the end zone to Kyle Rudolph is about twelve aid aide just like that and by the way quickly give cousins credit. That was a terrible snap. The snap his way to his right he basically knocks it with his right hand. Quickly gathers it because you it's all timing and throws a faith throws the fate and Rudolf reaches up. He's much taller than defender and he gets it in the process of doing that he pushes off. There's no question he pushes off. Does it rise to the level of offensive pass interference for me in a playoff game and I have to give context here. New Orleans has tragically lost in Hoon's replay off games in a row cheated in one cheated by by their own stupidity in another with defensive back and I mean I honestly either call offense a pass. Interference would have so I did not I mean I I watched the play. Did Not in real time necessarily see the wrangle back is in front of your Reina Vision Right. So they call it a touchdown a apparently appropriately to me and then you see the replay and and I did think to myself. Like oh my goodness could they. Could they possibly possibly overturn this. I mean it. And we've all seen their explanation and said there was handed both sides. It didn't rise to level pass interference. I mean I'm sorry by no objective measure to me was that not pass interference and in fact is in fact a couple hours later they called the same thing on hollister tight end from. I'm from Seattle and on much less meaningful circumstance but I mean I just felt like the league. We're getting out of the way this one. I mean there's no way every time it's the UNCANNY situational right. We know this. It's like it's like a Games are raft. Basketball game is reverend different right. The game is rough differently in the last thirty seconds than it it is and that's situationally you cannot. I don't think when I watched it and I watched the replay. He pushed off a little bit. Did it it was. It did not to me anyway. I think I disagree with you. Guys did not to me look agree. Gis I think Rudolph was bigger. The defensive back had his back this business. Being that push back. Chris Locate fully extends. I think it was his left arm. Yeah if he is allowed to do that he catches that ball. A hundred injured time. He cannot be defended. Unless you play. Just there's so many calls they show throughout the game when they every time on a pass Where not every time? Seventy percent of the time on a pattern when they show the slow motion the other guy. The the DB is has his arm wrapped around around the guy's waist or is holding. His arm gets there. I just think it's very subjective. That's fine but I agree with that but I would also agree that the saints should not be shafted million better cost the saints again. Plenty of opportunities it. Certainly when you were watching the game I ah in the flow of it and when tased him hill like in three straight plays a three-stroke they score a touchdown. Now it's twenty seventeen right gary to have that right was twenty. I needed to twenty twenty twenty seven hundred twenty and then they get back they get it back and take some hill like three times. Basically the the one where he runs to the left where it looks like. He's tackled and he spins runs for thirty arts. Well they're definitely going to win then. And then brees fumbled. I mean it was very i. I lost fumbling. The ball get hit. No sort of this is arm gets hit a little bit. I'm sorry I'm busy trying to reconstruct your show on the fly without telling you so allowed back in so so tension is good for the show is for Knuckleballer To to to tie it up. What was the forty nine yard or from lots? They're kicking it through. Yeah man that went about now three feet off the ground and easier kick at the end of the first half a ball Games kick forty something already three but that's an easier kick so that game. Let me say one other thing about that game as someone who was a kirk cousins fan when he was here. I'm not going to criticize Kirk. Cousins played fine. He was he was great in that last. Drive the drive. If they lose the haters are going to look at that stat line that would have been seventeen of twenty nine hundred and ninety yards picked and he didn't do anything bad. Oh he had a good game and the pass was just

"The game on a twenty nine yard bomb. Steven Nelson gets burned on a deep fade laughed A T Y Hilton who had the huge game against the chiefs of the twenty thirteen playoffs in that Colt. Comeback nelson. Didn't get his head turned in time. He was in decent position. And a great throw by luck. And the colts have an offensive touchdown at five thirty one left in the game. I mentioned that luck has lost a little bit arm strength, in my opinion. But certainly the accuracy right there that he showed was seconded on that the six TD passive Steven Nelson was given up this year. T Y Hilton such. They weapon and now Terry who missed a twenty three yard field goal at the end of the half, which looms bat big is that. Yes that would have been a one possession game. Now. As it stands. And they have stopped the chiefs offense for the last five possessions vegetarian getting ready for the point after. And his point after is. Misses the field goal. Derek Nadi with the noth- portion appears not only that bene-. Terry miss a twenty three yard field goal. Now. He pushes the point after to the right side and at five thirty one to go in the game. The Illinois native has hold in six touchdowns with three hundred and three receiving yards to go along with it. And he's becoming such a star that Jack Nolan has chosen him for tonight's player. Profile. We are here with the leading receiver for the Notre Dame football team miles. Boy, pretty good numbers to share my friend thirty six catches five hundred seventy yards. You've had a touchdown pass in each of the last four games, you have become kind of the go-to guy. What does that mean to you? And how'd you get here? You know, it means a lot to me, obviously, I have a faith and everybody else in receiver. But just put a lot of faith in me. You know thought about Amine in especially in the end zone. A- means a lot to me. I got a quote here from coach Kelly. What I like about him right now is he is a co two guy when opposing defenses bring everybody down in the line of scrimmage and play man to man bump and run coverage. He is a guy that will be able to catch a football down the field. He's a great outlet for us. What does it mean to you that your head coach has such great faith in? You means the world. I mean, obviously know, whomever, faith Amine. My teammates have a faith in me, this huge obviously in heaven faith to be able to throw the ball when he sees tie covers like that. It's a lot. Because obviously, you don't see if you're going to try to stop the run in crowd the box. And you know, when that happens, you gotta be able to relieve the pressure on the quarterback, you know, like just about everybody on this roster. You're star when you came here star in highschool state football champion heavily recruited. Heck today. I came across online at NBC sports, Chicago special. They did on you before you'd even played a game here at Notre Dame about your high school career and you'd come to Notre Dame. Did you feel pressure live up to that? When you've got here not as much press. There's just more excitement. You know? Obviously highest dictation for myself and just wanted to go out and give them all every time. I stepped on the field when I got here. This is a special place, and I think. You know, especially football players can make an infant associated. Is it hard to be patient though to not immediately have that same success because they showed the play when you were a freshman in high school. We're coaching getting in through the in there, and you made this great one handed catch at the one yard line. It didn't come as quickly here. Yeah. No, not at all. I mean, obviously, he come with some of the best players in the country here so times, you know, you gotta wait your turn it on my opportunity and mid most of it. I know your family is very important to you. I don't want to lead you in any direction talk about members of your family and the influence they've had on you. Yeah. Obviously, my mom, first and foremost, you know, she's talking about a lot of my college visits. My dad. You know, what I'm having a tough time in the fulfill. He's the first person I talked to, you know, obviously played football when he was in college. But he's always a great for me when I need someone to talk to him. My brother is my biggest fan. He comes every game. What's a high school with him building, my whole life and just always competed with our life. And so my family was lots of me. Are you your brother's biggest fan because his high school career ended by a concussion and the next year? You are is number and you're still wearing. Yeah. Definitely. He, you know, he bless her with his number just to be able to wear and every time thinking about him, and you know, how he couldn't play anymore, and I think he thinks about it to a little bit. He's living vicariously through me when you were in high school, you're like Notre Dame. How'd you end up here? My quarterback. You know, just said we should go to Notre Dame game this weekend. Since I was a recruit. So I said fine. But like, I'm not driving. And he said, that's fine. I'll drive. He just wanted someone to go with it. I got here my mom got here too. And it was snowing. It was really cold. And then finally we got back in the car, my miles. Well, I know you're not coming here. Say oh, I'm gonna have to come back for another. Visit finally came back Virginia day an offer committed a couple of months later ever since I stepped foot on campus. I knew was a special place as a leader of this football team. Folks, wanna know what you think about what they're talking about today? Do you know what that is? It's you're in the top four of the first playoff, Paul. Do you guys talk about it at all? Does it matter at all? It's funny because you know, last year we talked about a lot like just amongst the team learning in the locker room stuff like that this year. We didn't even watch it. And you know, we were all doing other things. It's almost like that's not important to us right now. There's other things we got to take care of before we get to that you're from a Chicago area. So you get this Notre Dame doesn't play northwestern that often, but it is a rivalry parsegian coach there, they got your back in two thousand fourteen they got you back in the mid nineties last time they played and I think Notre Dame's one of the teams northwestern wants to be badly anytime, they get a chance. So how intense do you expect this game to be a huge? This game is going to be physical. Obviously, you know is a tough team. They've won twelve of the last thirteen big ten games. And they're always a tough team have no matter who they're playing. So the fact that northwestern goes overlook, sometimes is a big mistake. And we're not gonna make that mistake. You know, we know what we're getting nestles into other great team. And it's gonna be a great game. You got your backfield running backs healthy, but they did a heck of a job and Jonathan Taylor holding into less than fifty yards. He's a leading rusher in the country. So Wisconsin last weekend. So it looks like passing game is going to be important again as well. What do you need to do to beat this team? We didn't make contested catches on the perimeter. Obviously, you know, they got a great secondary. And as receiver with to make you know, they're going to be covering the mouse. Thank you very much. Good luck. Thank you. All right. Great a year for miles boykin. He's already registered one big postseason catch in his Irish career who could forget that one handed grab against LSU. For the go ahead score. In the Citrus Bowl on New Year's day. Notre Dame of. Course has bigger aspirins this season as they try to reach the college football playoff and Notre Dame enters the night fourth in the first playoff rankings. When we come back. We'll let you know how the other contending teams are doing with our college football scoreboard that falls this word from UPS high..

"Our Facebook page or on Twitter, always happy to hear from you as we're talking about the NFL. When it comes to the quarterback situation. Nick foles now for the Philadelphia Eagles. It's going to be that way for a while. We'll give the update on Carson Wentz after our first break, but it was kind of fun to see him catch yet another pass. And I said this before that as much as I'm excited about Carson Wentz getting healthy both four Carson. But also as football fan. I mean, I want to see Carson back on the field. He was so good last year. As much as I'm excited about that. And I wanted to be healthy this moment, I felt like should belong to Nick foles. There was no way Nick was going to start. If Carson got cleared, but the fact that he was the Super Bowl MVP that he came in and played the way that he did that he was such a big part of that championship. I thought it was only fitting that he would be the guy who starts for the eagles in front of their home fans on the night in which they raise the banner and then little did. We know even though Nick said they only practice Philly. Philly one time this week. They weren't anticipating that they would use it in this game against the falcons. I thought it was awesome. It's almost like bringing bringing the Nick foles storyline. Full circle to have him catch yet. Another pass on the same play in the third quarter tonight in the game. Or there was third down you need a you need a big conversion, but you also want to give some momentum going. So we knew that we could probably get him a main coach at that time. So they don't really count for me. The drop me give me a little bit of time now gone and mitigate throw on. But yeah. Yeah. I think that was just a huge momentum boost restaurant the game. It definitely was. There were fifteen point scored by the eagles after that. Only three prior to Philly Philly being trotted out again, Nick foles did not have an especially compelling statistical nights. He did just enough. The offense did just enough foles was nine thousand nine hundred thirty four for one hundred seventeen yards and an interception and JJ had the sixty two yards with a couple of touchdowns Nelson. Al Gore was really active as well. He's actually the one that threw the ball to foles. But otherwise, there weren't a lot of all -fensive highlights for the eagles or for the falcons really other than Julio Jones. He was fantastic. Kevin Coleman had a nine yard touchdown. But I think part of being a professional athlete whatever the season is. And in this case we're talking about football. Of course, is you have to recognize that it's a marathon not a sprint. And so you don't need. To win the championship in your first week. What you're trying to do is get out there gauge where you are coming out of the preseason what we need to work on now that we're facing real competition in games that matter, and it's a process of getting better to the point where you hope you're playing your best football. And you figure it out the ways to attack each challenge by the time, you get to December, and then on into January, and I say this all the time you do not win a championship in your first month. But in addition to that no team steps all the field. Ready to win a championship in the first month. No team that actually wins the title finishes in the same place that it starts its journey. You have to move over. The course of a season you have to progress you have to get better to make adjustments over the course of a season. But one of the things about a mature team, especially one that has been able to win a title is that they recognize there's no need to overreact to every little play. Every little snap. Every little flag. What goes right? What goes wrong because there's such a long way to go continue keep working one time this game's not easy one in the NFL is not easy, especially against team like Atlanta. So no one freak out everyone. Take it easy. Like, we keep looking at the pictures. We keep talking about the plays. We go out there. And we actually here we stay home in the huddle in the guys did a great job all night or staying calm in the huddle just continue to work when when we get behind the changes continue to work, and you know, it was a dogfight all night or defense did a great job when Atlanta gone the red zone really helped us out and is a really great team win. And that is certainly the case. The defense bailed out the offense multiple times. Like it did in the playoffs the year ago, and he didn't have the flash so much from the offense other than j. But to have those two goal line stands one at the beginning of the game. One at the end of the game to keep the falcons one of five in the red zone. That was critical. That was the reason why the eagles were able to pull out an eighteen to twelve victory. All right. So coming up we'll give you the latest on Carson Wentz. And now here come the phone calls, which is awesome. I'm glad to talk football with you eight five five two one two four two two seven your calls..
