Breaking Down the Post MLB All-Star Break Stats

"Let's go ahead and start with a look beyond the box score. Those post all-star break numbers still very very high. As of monday's show was a fifty to average street. Twenty four base. four twenty. Two slugging will now. We've added a couple more days of three more days of data to those numbers. Still the two fifty two average on base down a little bit at three twenty one. But slugging up to four thirty five so at three twenty weighted on base average since the all-star break here across the league and that big uptick in slugging percentage is what i'm really focused on here for. Today's show as we know. The strikeout rate is down the stretch outrageous down quite significantly since that spin rate. Crackdown to hold a with the foreign substances. And all of that so guys are putting a lot more balls in play but now not only guys putting more balls in play but we're also seeing better fortunes at high-velocity contact and also more carry average fly ball. Distance is up here in the second. Half from june third. The time that's the second memo was actually sent out. It was a first memo in spring training back in march then. The memo came out june. Third major league baseball said we're going to take this seriously. Then enforcement started on. June twenty-first but any about from june third in july eleventh average fly ball distance three hundred nineteen here in the second. Half three hundred twenty one feet could be something could be nothing could be factors is obviously very hot in the month of july as we know and also to. You talked about this a lot on monday. Show but it's something that's still very relevant here on thursday is that we've seen a lot of below average starting pitchers since the all-star break guys are hurt. We've had several doubleheaders all of that. But also just what i've talked about on the daily article and then also on the shows here in that you've got a lot pitchers that have pitched on seven eight nine ten eleven days rest shohei. Ohtani pitched effectively two weeks worth of rest. It's tough to be sharp in those

There was no ceiling above them. Now and a huge rectangular metal frame loomed over them connected to the other spindles vehicle city via thick metal tinge wire the surface of the spindles had been covered in colorful bits of metal and wood. Welded a nailed into dozens of crude structures that stippled up the iron frames like technicolor mushrooms. Everything was covered in lights and screens and buzzed with the of a thousand speakers. Reggie's pace slowed. The journalists jaw was slack. He mouth what must have been a curse and then asked their guides. Is it okay. If i record sco fucker. Mike grinned and clapped him on the shoulder. Of course it's okay. If you ask nice i might even let you fill me in one of the fondle boats. What the hell is reggie started to ask. But then the first fondle boat came into view at least many assume. That's what it was a very large lifeboat hung off the gantry. As if it was the deck of a cruise ship. the interior of the boat was all soft cushions. Pillows blankets about two dozen writing. naked people. some of them were surely having sex but it was hard to tell exactly what was going on. Manny saw several tails. Curled around limbs jerking spasmodically in the air. His eyes were drawn to one mechanical limb. That looked like a large metal chickens foot. He watched it kick repeatedly into the chest of a young woman. She cried with joy. At every impact the whole massive coiled post humanity gleamed wet in the morning light coated with a mixture of blood and what looked like motor oil. Christ reggie whispered. Manny was at a loss for words. He felt a bit nauseous. He never considered himself a prude. But something about what was going on in the fondle. Boat just seemed wrong in the physics sense. Not the moral sense. Probably best not to watch said topaz it can make humans sick. Yeah reggie coughed. Is that a common sight. Mike shrugged. It's not uncommon. We try to keep stuff like that. On the outside spindles away from the rollerskates as a courtesy they walked on past the boat and through another covered section of the gantry way surrounded by a half dozen little buildings that looked like shops many saw fruits and vegetables hanging in one an assortment of label decks and other electronic google's on tables in another it had the look of a middle eastern bizarre but with no shopkeepers. Present y'all went food topaz stopped and gestured at the shop. Filled with produce many held up his left hand which has cash chip implanted in it. I've got republic of texas currency and some californian crypto. If you guys take either. Reggie sat down on the other side of the table. Many noticed that he looked nervous. Sweaty the journalists hand shook just a little. His skin seems pale. Topaz came in after them followed by skull. Fucker mike. She hopped over the table with the grace of a deer. Jumping offense and in one smooth motion spun round and settled into a cross legged. Sit on the plush mattress school fucker. Mike walked up to the bar and pulled down a large white bottle with the words rupees. Written across it in black marker he took to pint glasses filled them three quarters up with the white liquid and then added a splash of cranberry juice to each glass. "God reggie whispered. aw temporarily. Overwhelming has pain but didn't realize any of the road tribes with his lodge. There were easily two or three thousand people visible in the sprawling camp. Mike glanced back at. Reggie a somewhat stern look on his face. This is not a tripe it's a city. Oh said reggie. That's just how a lot of people back home refer to get it. Mike interrupted but there are actual indigenous tribes out on these roads comanche bands in the panhandle. Roving up from new mexico to colorado. We've got defensive. In trade agreements with a few different groups of apache out west the navajo have the only stable territory. South of mormon land north of albuquerque. Mike glanced back at the road. Long enough to steer around pothole and turn them in the direction of what looked to be agreed or station then he continued anyway. There are tribes out west. But we're a city the fact that we don't hold any land or controlling territory is important to most of the folks here think of it as a kind of rebellion from people born to a settler culture Reggie nodded that's absolutely fascinating. I have so much. I want to ask in. Good time buddy. mike said. Let's get y'all settled in. I many knew that every foreign correspondent he'd ever met would kill to have the opportunity. "Almost completely all that remained was a little circle of busted ceramic around a hole in the ground. It seemed to function as a squat toilet now. The sink was intact but it also looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all in the last year. The middle of the faucet was green where it should have been silver. Sasha held her nose turn the hot water on and hope for the best. It took her around minute to stop hoping for hot water. of course. this place didn't have a functioning water heater. This is a war zone. You stupid girl. Sasha cursed herself. She felt tears at the edge of vision but fought them down slowly deliberately. She pulled off her top did her bra and hung both from the doorknob as she did. She thought of the book of romans. We rejoice in our sufferings knowing that suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character and character produces hope and hope does not put us to shame. Because god's love has been poured into our hearts through the holy spirit who has been given to us. The word of god gave her some comfort but sasha stomach still churned as she scrubbed the grime from her body. She confronted the fact that this was all real now. She'd fled her home in her family traveled to a war zone and now she was here it was done. Her great sacrifice was now real not theoretical. The excitement she felt at that realization was marred by an anxious. Kind of horror at the thing. She'd never do now. She hadn't really thought about that before she left but now sasha realized that she was never going to graduate high school. She'd never go to college. She'd never see her father's face again. She started to cry. It surprised her a little for days now her emotions had felt stunted buried under the very immediate concerns of escape and survival but as soon as she had a minute to breathe everything she hadn't been able to let herself feel flowed out of her eyes. They had white skin burnt reddish by the sun and neither of them look like they bathed in quite some time. their faces were gone. Sasha didn't see any extra fat on either of them Dang said the tall one. Welcome said the short one. I hope you're ready for would this is they. Were not exactly the welcome cruciate. Expected saul had told her. A man named david would be waiting. But neither of the porter's new david was. They seemed much more frustrated than joyous at her presence. The building wasn't what she expected. Either it looked like an old fedex facility with all the branding covered by red spray paint. There was trash everywhere. Mostly food waste from crates of aid supplies. That had been opened too late. The spoiled food had been shoved into large piles and left to rot in one center of the large room. Sasha guest this. At once been a loading dock were delivery trucks would have dropped off received packages the room was filled with a mix of aid crates and miscellaneous boxes stacked into piles by a ragged army of tired. Looking men like the two men who greeted her. They all looked malnourished and skinny. The only people not dressed in blue jumpsuits where a pair of armed guards. They stood in the back of the room near a door that seemed to lead deeper into the facility. Both men had white. Paint crosses daubed across the body armor on their chests. Both carried very large black rifles. One of them ran over once. He saw her emerge from the shipping crate. Welcome to the heavenly kingdom. Ma'am the boy drawled. He looked young enough to have come from her own high school. There was a dusting of acne on his unlined face in his round. Cheeks still held a bit of baby. Fat thank you sir. How Do You Measure Accuracy in Speech Recognition?

"Do you mean when you say accuracy when it comes to speech recognition. So that's a really really good question. How do we measure that when we talk about accuracy we're talking about. How many words correct did the system get so. We call this word race so often. It's you know the smaller. The number the more accurate system or we can talk in terms of accuracy. The higher the number the more accurate unperformed system is on what happens is as children get younger. The systems that have been on adult data. They have been modeling language adult behaviors. They work reasonably well for amateur ten-year-old nine ten ten twelve the beginning to sound like little adults now we all know that not all kids are like some kids take a little more development maturing but by the whole when they start getting a little bit older and they start looking adults. The system start form. Well what happens when children younger. What you see is the performance. The accuracy error rates of how many mistakes the system gets starts to die right. There's two different types of areas we talk and when you look at it is simply that the system isn't hearing the difference between a child and adult speech or is it in the language interpreting so sometimes when you talk to a voice assistant how you may be asking for something way out there that the system is no idea. So is able to transcribe what you said but it just can't match what you said to any reasonable response you get account response gone. I can't help you right now. I don't know that answer. Canned responses are quite a thing in speech recognition league. We're all aware of but there's another type of problem that exists is that when people with accents or dialects that are not served by these speech recognition systems. That you're starting to see some acoustically. It actually can't even transcribe that. I'm really see that problem when it comes to kids too. We like to think much more as if you're trying to deal with a system to understand a fifty year old male at a four year old girl you can start to see how different the child's speeches their language behaviors whether you're also trying to do for the pheromone your effectively boiling the ocean. You know it's going to work for some courts better than others and that can be age profiles. It can be in language dialects. And that's where we start to see bias so the system. Not performing for certain demographics as well as it does for others and dash can have very profound effects

"We are back we are doing a new segment where we bring on a small business owner so we can talk a little bit about their business about what they do. What kind of issues or problems. They've come up. Come against in starting in running a business. You know maybe business during kobe and whatever comes up and so right now we have with us gen from cranes critter care john. Thanks for joining us for the first small business segment. Thank you so much for inviting us into i actually chow four chinchilla friends with me this ursula one thing. That's a little bit different about further care. Is we go far beyond just captain dogs. We do all sorts of exotic whether it's earned small mammals sarmiento reptiles anything because we have so many people that have pets chats dogs in. I noticed when i was working at the ap l. That was a big issue. People were having was not being For anything other than just basing cat dog or if they had animal what medical issues. So that's one thing that Critter cares able to do is we can do animals with medical issues whether that be needing shots multiple times a day medications multiple times a day. We can do dogs or cats with behavioral issues. That could normally go to a kennel or normal. Dog sitter whether it be sonic stranger danger or anything bats. We also work with harder cheeses. I personally love the challenges in house. Seven years experience were sheltered in animals because training shelter. Animal is so much different than training in that. You thought from the pet store in today's nickel company though. It's just a little bit different methods of going about things but it's been really great overall. We've had to change a lot of cova right. And that's one thing. This kind of bennett trick is as cova comes up each month. We have to kind of a daft. Do whatever we see that customers are looking for whether if the people going out of town so that increase number of training sessions of we noticed people wanting more medical care people wanting more educational seminars. So whatever people are looking for cranes critter cares filling in that gap and just go with the flow of were covance. Add in what people are meeting with as far as animal care. So where would you say you start. Sounds like such an amazing and valiant effort that you're doing especially for individuals in the community. You're almost like an immeasurable acid because through You're still trying to push still trying to make sure that the animal care is first and foremost so what pushed you into his avenue this world so i actually started adding animal shelter as a veterinarian assistant. I was there for four years and then i switched to another shelter as their main foster four nader doing educational seminars. And that's one of the biggest issues i noticed was i was in the intake department where people would surrender. Animals in have issues in a big thing is lack of education whether it be their animal has issued. They don't know how to properly train or fix it. So then immediately playbay. Just surrender or their four hours a day. Don't have anyone to let them out in the they don't have time to have an animal or someone passed away or moved out there. Sheila left behind. They have no idea how to take care of. It can shallow surrender over and it's one of those things where the more education were able to provide the public a lot. More people keep animals in their homes. Take better care of their animals. It makes a better relationship between the owner of pet in more animals. Just stay healthy happy home. So it's a little bit of keeping animals out of the shelter keeping almond good conditions just for improve quality of life for everyone right. Yeah no so. I wanted to actually ask about something along those same lines. Since we've been going through cova. This is something that we touched on. In in one of my classes actually we were talking about Pharmaceuticals and medications for animals versus for people Was he was business of biology through. You're talking about big pharma quite a bit but you know one of the things that came up is that there's different right if you have a life threatening disease or disorder. You're probably more likely to get that medication than you would. For a life threatening disease or disorder for an animal or at least some people are so along those same lines of what you were talking about. One thing that i was hoping to kind of get out there. One thing i think that needs saying is i'm sure that lots of people bought a new animal because the kobe right. You're locked up. You're stuck at home. You need a buddy someone. Yeah but that said tat. I'm slightly concerned that we're gonna see a big christmas dump ejup fact at the end of covid right where everyone is like. Well now. we're back at work now. We're back at school now. We're busy now. We don't have any time and so well. We have to get rid of the animals. So i guess i wanted to kick it over to jenin. Just see what you thought about that. Do you think that phenomenon is going to happen once we quote unquote get back to normal and like what could you say to pet owners. That currently do have their pet that you know maybe thinking of doing something like that so i completely agree and that's something even when i felt the shelter we talked about with so many people now that they're working from home temporarily were adopting animals but they're not thinking in the future a lot of those times so that's one thing during summer especially i focused on was doing seminars in different on how to prevent separation anxiety. That's gonna be one of the issues as well with on people getting poppies. The puppies are missing to people being home all day leaving for maybe two hours tops and all of a sudden you're drastically or changing their schedule their way of life pretty much by being gone nine ten hours a day. That's going to have a lot of issues with separation. Anxiety being the biggest one and then i see a lot of people once that happens to run around to shelters reasonable surrender.

Prepare To Work Hard and Find Your Niche with Rebecca Smith

"Let's talk about what who you are how you got online and what your favorite platforms are. So let's start there. yes. I'm originally from england. I came to america. Twenty two to get my commercial pilot's license. Because i thought that was how is gonna travel around the world but it turns out when you get you commercial pilot's license. You don't get to go to bali short trip so hang on a second. This isn't quite what i signed up for. But i did my training in long beach and i grew up watching laguna hills on mtv. And i was like one day lauren. Conrad and i'm gonna drive down h. And i'm going to be in my convertible. We're gonna have lunch together. And so. I always have that vision of wanting to live in southern california. I didn't realize that a pilot's license was going to be the thing that got me here. But when i got here i fell in love and i didn't end up becoming a pilot. I got my whole license but came to america on an old one visa and started to go jobs like this. British jackson turns out a lot of british people. Thinking the same thing in la special. But i did go for an audition to be on a youtube channel and that was probably about ten years ago now nine ten years ago and i got the audition and i found out that my one talent in life is talking and working out at the same time. I can do that all day long. So i started working for a channel on youtube. Grew it to like three million subscribers. We eighteen months. I got paid forty dollars per episode but it was just the excitement of being part of youtube and it was workout videos. And i found something that i knew. This was my thing after about a year and a half. They decided they didn't want to film anymore. I didn't understand why no problem and it took me about a year and a half to get my confidence to fill my own channel and have my own videos now. Been doing that for coming on six seven years. I've got my own fitness that we have a pocus. I just had a best selling book and life is great. But it's really been a lot of grit determination and hard work. But now i'm in a place. Where just loving life and just enjoying everything that's happening so talk to us about the. What is the team. Look like to be able to build videos and editing and all that stuff. What does that look like when you when you start when somebody says okay. I want to assemble cheang because nobody talks about the team. The talking about you should do this. Here's the tactics. let's start there. I love that question. And it's so funny because i think it's always something that i'm working on so i do have a team now but when i'm very first study doing youtube and i still have my camera like a souvenir i had one hundred and fifty dollar sony camera setup on a tripod and i would shoot myself and i had the camera and i didn't realize until about six months later that you could flip the camera so that you can actually see yourself so no joke i would get into the show. I would do my jumping. Jacks put my arms in the air go round replay double check that i was in frame and then go back again. Yes you guys were always learning. So there's a war you if you have a flip camera that you can actually build meals but we didn't have fancy iphones back then. So this hundred and fifty dollars. Sony camera and then as i started to get more things coming on i would have insurance and are actually find people of craigslist. That's where i found most of my employees. Because i have much money at the beginning to help so i started to get people who would do things like my cleaning and my laundry so that i could spend time on that so it was like. Where can i navigate my time. Where is it best spent. And what can i delegate to other people with the money that i have like that sits like what do you have and use that phospholipids. Six years of having this company. I now have a full app team. I have somebody that does my emails. I have a chief business officer. I have a video an editor a personal assistant. Somebody puts all the input in the app. And has that runs my social media and mound. My mom is also working for me. So like i have like nine ten people that a part of my team but at the beginning i did everything i edited did. The blogs did the calendar. Absolutely everything and as things got better. I've been able to bring more people on at a different level. So okay she craigslist. So what did you do run on ad on craigslist. Or he just started surfing people on the job descriptions and setting the messages in. How did you know even how to lead them. You know what i mean like. That's like all right now. we're i. This was hilarious. This more. No kidding this is talk about the flip. The camera thing. I had the flip the camera moment this morning. I'm driving down the street. And i own a virtual system company fifty voice. Okay i own want. And i literally. I'm driving down the street. And i'm talking to the woman who is running dot company. 'cause i don't run that company at all. I have one meeting a week. And i don't run the company and i said wait a minute as a as a running strategy for that committed. Why is my company. The other company hardcore business. Why are we looking for social media. People to post are to put my social media. Team is like all of a sudden decide to be trainers and they're all gone right and there's all happened like the last six weeks and so i find myself postings or outdated like eight figure company and i'm back to posting right and i go. Why am i looking for a virtual assistant. Why don't you go find me. Virtual system works. That would be great for this job and so you know sometimes the common sense is in common and you know one of the things i think you probably develop skills on is like Like okay we find them on craigslist or wherever. And how do you get over the hump of not knowing how to lead them or what to ask them to do so for me. I've done everything in my business. So i knew how to set up even the web stuff. I knew how to write a blog. I learned all the skills myself then. I put an ad out honestly. It was for like an intern. Like hey social media person needs how with you know inputting blogs or whatever was the i was doing. I basically wrote my own job description of what i needed. Help with like you need any experience because at the time the people that i was hiring work. Twenty twenty one twenty two. Because i couldn't afford to pay them. You know somebody who was thirty five and had ten years of experience in like managing a team. So i like she learned all the skills myself i would put an ad out and then i would meet them nor at my house but like a nice cafe because it looked better right. So i do these interviews and i have interviewed. I've really got it down. At the beginning. I was interviewing like ten fifteen people a day for two days straight instead of just doing a quick zun things like oh. It's right in front of us. Why don't you just young paul with them because you know in the first i believe ten seconds if this is going to be the right person for you like with. It's just a feeling and for me. It didn't matter about how much experience they had. It was if i liked you and if we connected and if we gelled so like great i like you. You're a cool person. I'm gonna have you come in and then we're going to do an internship so for a couple of weeks just to see if you've got it and you know we're right fit. I'm gonna teach you these skills that i know. Then y'all gonna do it tell. Show tried to tell them what to do. Show them how to do it with them. Let go off and do it themselves and so we just things that i knew to how to teach them and you know this was thanks to a made and things always perfect. But it's better to have people doing eighty percents of you rather than to do absolutely everything because you never be out of scale and you won't be able to

"Ernnesto. Welcome tumor kaba chakra. 'as so much fun house for having us against in your program and so delighted and i love all the different ways in which people connect to that hartfield and the renaissance renaissance with the consciousness. So before we dig into this juice juicy topic because this is one of my favorites as well. Can you tell us your story for how you even got into this work with us a very long story. You have a four hour slot. We can however i might make it concise i was. I was born in mexico city and was fortunate to have been born in a very well to do family They had a coffee plantations in the state of aircrews. Some from a very early age. I went to the farm. They and instead of staying inside with my cousins and learning how to play chess and things like that. I kicked off my shoes immediately and i went outside to be with the workers so by being with the workers. They taught me how to a pig coffee and things like that and i little by little. They accepted me. I suppose because that was the son of the owners but they so more than that as time went by. And that was that curiosity. That genuine interest that i had in their way of being way of living which was completely opposite from what i was experiencing with my family so they started invited me to their homes. Their little simple homes a group of about eighty people and And two of them a couple were the elders so to speak of this group and they were the shamans. The healers dados that age. You know eight nine ten years old. I had no idea what that was but they started doing some ritual and ceremony with some people and taking herbs and beating them up with them and blowing smoke and alcohol and then to start. Doing all of that to me. And i was a kid. You know eight nine years so going like oh. I don't know what all of this is. But i kinda like it you know and blow big with the smoke and spread the alcohol. I'd like that and what happened. Is that by being exposed to this magical world of mexican mysticism third. I and my check. Res- were beginning do opened up in align to other dimensional realities that were not part of what my upbringing was bringing me or giving me and pursue. This opened the world of of shamanism to me without knowing what shamanism was got to be eleven years old. I was there observing a process and this man the shaman toucan eg and stir rubbing the egg on this woman's neck and on her arms. And i'm going. I don't remember seeing that before but okay. So when he finished he took the egg and cracked it and what came out was black life and at that point. I said wow. I don't know what that is. But i wanna do that. I wanna learn how to do that. And that strong exclamation is what began opening the doors of shamanism in my life. Wow that yeah that's So you you kinda got into it early. You didn't get some people get into shamanism in whichever culture they get into it through much later in life but you kinda i mean. Eight or nine. That's when you start developing your own sense of self now. What was your upbringing. aside from. You said you came from a tradition upbringing. What was the tradition upbringing. That you came from a very pseudo-catholic family. Okay say pseudo cadillac catholic. Because they went occasionally church to look look good and all of that but without real spiritual meaning of of the of the catholic religion so but so so what happened. Is that at the same time that i had this exposure to shamanism about very early age i had a very deep interest On on on church in fact wanted to become a monk. Because i was so deeply connected to the energy of francis of assisi In oh my path was from a very early age divided between the the the mystical a folkloric chamonix mexican culture and also the the catholic faith you know so it was balancing those out in on deal the point that it was a for lack of answers the catholic church. The priest did not have for me then. I chose to completely remove myself from the catholic faith as start looking for answers as to how the mind operates how i create the condition my mind. How the reality that i was experiencing at the time was becoming a reality.

Updating The Numbers with eMarketer Co-Founder Geoff Ramsey

"Am so pleased to have as my guest. Jeff ramsey the co founder of emarketer and chief evangelist for insider intelligence. Jeff is a veteran of the attic. She'd your stage and we are going to talk on this podcast about the numbers. You should be paying attention to in the year head and the stories behind those numbers but before we get into jets predictions for the rest of twenty twenty one. I wanted to talk about twenty twenty. We saw so much change because of the pandemic and i'm sure that wreaked havoc on your predictions. Jeff well Yeah twenty. Twenty is year a lot of people would like to forget but we can go back and revisit that certainly in a busy year for our forecasters are forecasters busy themselves with excel spreadsheets Calibrating and then recalibrating numbers at a dizzying pace based on new information. That's coming in and certainly during last year we saw a lot of changes particularly with the consumer and So then ensued a ton of revisions to our projections that would normally last for you know at least eight nine ten twelve fourteen months You know we we were. We were spinning our wheels so fast. It's a wonder we didn't come off the tracks Biggest places where you had to revise those numbers Assure i think the biggest area without doubt was the area of e-commerce and we're gonna get into that in a little bit but if if anybody in the audience is thinking to themselves e commerce you think about about that. We'll think about your activity over the last year. And if you haven't done more door dash or grubhub or i'm not going to the store and never mind that. There's you know a massive winter storm that we're now seeing people are jew. Were just afraid to go to malls all this data and statistics were talking about you. Know people were a lot of most people. Were taking this seriously and mask or not. It was more comfortable. Felt more safe to order from home Whether it be on your desktop laptop or your mobile device so i would say the biggest set of numbers are the biggest changes in our set of numbers were in the e commerce space space and where we netted out to give a kind of a tip of the hat to twenty twenty is ecommerce sales grew by something like thirty two percent in twenty twenty versus twenty nine thousand nine due to the lockdown measures in the fact that we are all self isolated and just to put that into perspective If you look at non ecommerce sales that's that's the that's the the that's like the rhinoceros compared to the flea of ecommerce right but if you look at total retail says we're talking somewhere in the order of almost six trillion dollars right if you look at ninety commerce sales. They slipped by negative Three point two percent in two thousand and twenty. They might grow again predicting grogan this year but it actually slipped by over three percent and yet total commerce. Total retail sales grew why because of e-commerce growing a significant thirty two percent. So we some people said that we have Grown e commerce On original predictions something. We've advanced something like two or three years ahead of where we would normally be an and the trains left attracts. The growth rate is gonna go way way down. It's going to continue to grow some bets. That's the biggest change that we've seen. Yes i can. I can validate that anecdotally. In terms of how much ivan purchasing on amazon as well is kind of a lot of new e commerce stores. I was trying out to get you know farm to table food delivery and that kind of thing personally but that that's where my taste lies and you know you're making me hungry. Zony sales are seeing so many sales are moving to online. It makes me wonder you know one. What does that mean for all these digital advertising companies that kind of our that point right before you hit by And as well as how much time people must be spending online consumers platforms before they go on to you now. Consumed their dinner via door dash. Sir you know what that's a really good place it to really dig into because you know if i were say a a number two area where forecasters had to continually busied themselves. With reaching recalibrating. Numbers was in the area of time spent so let me just puts in perspective on that because i think most of us realize having or locked in an apartment or a house we start to go a little bit stir crazy. So what do we look to. We looked to digital activities to you know suck up our time and so a couple of things with these since cove it. Americans have increased the time that they spend with all media cross online and offline by about an hour and five minutes a day. So it's over thirteen hours a day. We're spending with media now. I do need to put a little caveat there thirteen hours you might be thinking. Wow that's a lot of time. And that's that's half the twenty four hours you know that are in a day. But it includes double-counting for multitasking. 'cause i don't think there's any of us on the planet that don't were we're watching. Tv have another device in our hand. We're doing something else right. And because we never know in the second or nanoseconds time where attention is fleeting from one. St the other way that attention actually lies. We have to double count that figure. So if you're spending an hour watching tv and you're on your mobile phone that whole time we have to double count That that our so it becomes two hours if that makes any sense so we're spending an extra hour a day and almost all of that Ghosts to digital so just to give some perspective before cove it we were spending. This is pretty pretty significant amount. We're spending about half a little over half of our day. Six hours and forty nine minutes a day Doing digital stuff alive. It was mobile. was streaming but then we went from six hours forty nine minutes in two thousand nineteen the pandemic hits and we go up by a an hour and a minute to seven hours and fifty minutes a day with digital And we think that digital time is going to continue to increase by twenty twenty two. We'll be spending eight hours a day with digital which was a little frightening for maybe some parents as they think of their kids. Because this is on average and if you think of kids and teens and it's probably way more than eight hours day so as we net out digital time now counts for roughly sixty percent of adults a total daily time spent with media and another area within within digital of course streaming Were all streaming more and when you think of time spent with streaming whether you thinking connected. Tv's court cutting or cord nevers. That's my favorite. Group is like college students who never will never have paid for a traditional pay. Tv subscription. why would they win. Their parents are basically donating their netflix account to their kids And then you got. Ot subscription activities with netflix amazon prime. And so on so. These numbers really shot way past our original pre covid estimates and so where we netted out. Was it in twenty. Twenty one time spent with digital video will have risen by thirty three minutes or over half an hour per day and so now we're spinning If we're looking at digital video time said about two hours and nineteen minutes And that's up from an hour and forty six minutes and twenty nine thousand nine but just a quick reality check. And then i'll let you jump in here. Reality check is that you might be thinking with all this streaming and so on that people are spending on average more time with digital video than they are with linear tv. But that's not quite yet. The case are estimated that traditional. Tv whether you're watching broadcasts abc cbs. Or you're watching a cable. Channel or direct access is is sixty percent of the time we spend with. A video is with traditional tv

MLB announces revised 2021 Spring Training schedule

"Major league baseball announcing this afternoon. A revised two thousand twenty one spring training schedule with times. Cactus league teams like the reds are gonna play twenty. Eight came across thirty days with two off days and grapefruit. League clubs will play a regionalized scheduled. To mitigate travel afford the reds. They will start now. A day later than was originally planned reds playing the indians in goodyear on february the twenty eighth. We are sixteen days away from that. They'll have a day off on saturday march. Sixth on monday march twenty second. Finish up the cactus league on monday. March twenty ninth. They'll have to off days and then open the season in cincinnati against the saint. Louis cardinals a lot of these games we are. I think used for the most part spring training games taking place during the day and they've had more games at night in recent years certainly the last decade since they moved to arizona. I as a sarasota and before then plant city. The number of night games was typically pretty small. And there's been a few more. In recent years there are more for instance that first week of games. They played two games during the day and then four games at six o'clock mountain time. Eight o'clock here and then after that one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve thirteen fifteen games in spring training which is not usual in fact. I'm looking here at their home games during the week pretty much. All of their home games are going to be at night. They have three saturday home games and then they have to. One o'clock games that are played during the day. And my guess here is. Maybe and i haven't looked at this. Because i'm kind of doing this on the is you could probably tell his night games against the indians to this year facility with but i wonder if that's in part because they want the indians to go and not travel as much so they're gonna play day games. I don't know but nonetheless more night games than usual but the date you care about. First game is against cleveland in goodyear february. The twenty eighth twenty. Cactus league games and thirty days there remains the possibility that cactus league games at least in the early going are gonna be five innings or seven innings. Just because there's not going to be as many guys in camp. At least at the outset we will see we will see sixteen days between now and and

What Book Hooked You?

Interview With Author, Lynne Bertrand

"So then. What book hooked you. It's a great question. I was Sense the info on this question you know just that we could interpreted however we wanted to and i thought to myself. I'm not sure it was a hook. It was more of a net because a lot of reading in my childhood that was just part of the culture. I grew up in Partly just The nature of life before a lot of screens And then partly because i grew up in the family of a A fairly religious family so we were people of the book like anybody. Who's you know. grows up in that. You know that the buckets. In our case the bible but in other cases i think of the korean or you know the torah people reading and memorizing parts of books and becoming sort of accustomed to the idea that the book in some way is your life and your belief system and your and your way of understanding the world so there was that and then aside from any religious interpretations of the book the narrative structure of all those books in the old and new testaments or the first and second testament is really interesting stuff but then beyond that i I wanted to choose. A book called my family and other animals by gerald durrell. Who actually d'oro if you're british and incorrect. Which is the story of. It's one of many books that the zoologist durrell wrote As part of his Recollections about his life in zoology and this one is his early years on the island of corfu When he was there with his family and his brother. Lawrence still is a Novelist he wrote the alexandria quartet which will probably show up later in this interview. Because you'll ask me what series. I've never finished but gerald was Delicious writer funny kind of a smart aleck and really Captured not only his life in the field and mountains of coffee. Which is a greek island. collecting like rose beatles magpies and puppies and wall lizards and stuff but also the stories of his family. Being completely intolerable and arrogant. And you know with all their crazy foibles. Carry charming book. And i realized that if he could write like that then this could be really fun to read all my life and where in your life did you read this book. I well when i was about eight years old eight nine ten years old I used to go to new hampshire to stay with my grandparents and we were permitted because again it was a time when life look different. We were permitted to just take ourselves downtown and go anywhere we wanted and you know just as kids and we used to do things that we remembered from our summers like by a hamster you think their parents would never let us to and my grandparents just gave us a long leash least at all so i went to the bookstore all the time. There is a prep school town. I was not that kid. We were not that kind of wealthy but we had full access to the prep school bookstore. And i bought this book just thinking the cover was interesting. And i'm actually holding it in my hand. It is completely destroyed taped together with masking tape. It's Aqua the way everything was in nineteen seventy three or whatever that was and it was covered with all these crazy looking animals from that time. Sort of a collage and it has the typefaces that you would recognize from that era. So i And i read it in secret thinking that because it had some swears in it probably getting in trouble and was that sort of common use you were having to sneak books From your parents were your parents very today. Kind of investigate what. You're reading a frequently to make sure it was clean. Yeah no it's a great question. My parents are very liberal in their In their interpretation of what would be considered you know dogma but the The churches that i grew up in were more conservative so i was pretty careful. I mean that was the same era. As are you there. God it's me margaret. And you know i mean. There were things coming out that we're pretty controversial. Nothing like what. I've written and nothing like anybody else's writing now but But at that time it was you had to be kind of careful

Who is the international community?

"Myanmar's progress towards democracy. During the two thousand and ten with nobel peace laureate aung sang suu as de facto head of government was widely understood as a good news. Story this week myanmar's military. The top madore decided that the democratic experiment had proceeded far enough claiming fraud in the most recent they threw a coup. D'etat seized power. Back and returned san suu now. Tarnished as an accessory to the tottenham does own recent accesses to detention the international community has responded predictably and in famous correctly demanding respect for the election results the restoration of constitutional order and so forth. Also this week. Us president joe biden in his first speech on foreign policy since taking office declared that america was ready willing and able to resume its traditional self awarded role as lead of that international community. But at this point what actually is the international community who decides what it thinks and are there really any penalties for defying or ignoring it. This is the foreign desk. But you're now seeing two sets of institutions governing although it's questionable how much actual authority the people without guns have to force their parliamentary decisions. At this point. The burmese military should relinquish power. They have seized release the advocates and activists and officials they have detained suspected. Criticism from western countries has relatively little direct. But it's not that they don't care at all it's noteworthy that they've gone to just extraordinary lengths to create alibis covers for the coup the very few occasions when you say that sanctions all the threat of sanctions hadn't affect i think would be the ending of the apartheid period south africa but they require cooperation and agreement among any state that has major economic relations with a particular state that is really under threat of sanctions. So that's pretty rare frontier. Hello and welcome to the foreign desk. I'm andrew muller joined first of all by amen taunt a reporter based in yang-gon well first of all let's try and make sense of what has been occurring this week. How did the first hours of the coup ataur unfold as you experienced it. Was there a heightened military presence in the streets was a news broadcast social media alerts. How do they establish power. It's not like they lack practice this by now. Sure so the first couple hours were extremely chaotic. One was quite sure what was happening. Although most people had figured out that there was a coup so basically most people woke up on monday not being able to use their phones so there are some cards. Weren't giving them service. There was some rewards that depending on which company you are with. You have some level of service depending on where you are in the country. You had some notable service. But for me i couldn't call out and i didn't have any mobile data. Luckily i have wifi at home. Which is not true for a lot of people but yeah in the first few hours in django that weren't really military much of a military presence as far as i understand. Although in the days leading up to the coup there were some quite frightening pictures of tanks in yanko near military installations and what has gone. Felt like since how much of what was already passing for normal life i guess given the pandemic but how much is the feel of the city changed since the coup d'etat. Everyday's a little bit different. So the first day i went out to the markets just alexi what i could over here talk to people because you know people were getting online and a first a couple hours. Not everyone knew. The markets were busier than normal. There were more men. The normal people seem like they were ignoring the one person per household rule a lot more than they were. Previously people are largely ignoring the rules at this point in the pandemic here. But yeah like you just saw a lot of groups of people as opposed to the person who cooks which is generally a woman here but a couple hours in so maybe around nine. Ten people started panic buying especially rice. A lot of rice shops ran out of rice quite early in the morning. You know they generally never run out that bryce they usually are quite. we'll start but by the evenings. The supply chain was flowing again and had sort of compensated and the streets emptied out after a while but there was a while where people were trying to rush the banks. All the banks shut the atm set down. And then people try to. The gold shops and the gold shops started shutting down this

Why 10 Super Bowl Appearances Won't Satisfy Tom Brady

"Hey thanks for joining me man. Good to be here. Seth wicker sham is a senior writer at espn and he's covered. Tom brady since his rookie year in the nfl. Words with you. Seth you are. Espn's resident. tom. Brady you've been covering brady for nearly twenty years. I believe at this point. You're the first person to report. That brady was looking for a way out of new england back when that was on thinkable and honestly kind of dangerous to suggest in the boston area. But your piece out. Today ahead of. Tom brady's tenth super bowl in tampa bay with the buccaneers. It actually begins a decade ago back in new england. What happened a couple years ago. I was in tom. Brady's house and we were in his living room and he was telling a funny story about bill belichick. It was a saturday morning meeting before a game against new york. Jets and bella. Check was watching film of mark sanchez. Running out of the pocket rolling to his right players it is heels and he had a wide open receiver about sixty yards downfield on the opposite hash. So that's an almost impossible. Throw to attempt. I mean few quarterbacks ever would try that throw even fewer would complete it and the way that brady told it to me. That ballot check was just watching the play unfold and he was like just throw it. He's wide open. Why isn't sanchez. Throwing the ball and brady's little thought bubble was hilarious because he was thinking. I would never even attempt that throw. Do you have any idea how i would look in. Tried to throw that ball. And meanwhile checks just like can't get even more open. He can't get more open. Just throw it in. The way that brady explained to me later was very interesting because he said i see each play within my limits at the time. I didn't really see the significance in that statement. But when you watch. Tom brady now aged forty three years old and the entire sporting world asking how. He's done it how he's been able to get another team to the super bowl. I looked back at that statement. And i found a lot of answers in it was brady frustrated with ballot check. Invalid check suggested as much. I wanna get deeper into. Brady's thought bubble there. I think he thought it was hilarious. He he saw it as a defensive coach who had no bearing on the reality of how difficulties throw that ball. He wasn't frustrated with ballot check. He was like a little amazed that bella check thought that that type of pass would be so easy i mean. That's that's a john elway throw. That's josh allen throw mahomes through. There's very few people who could ever even try that and here. Ballot check was talking about mark sanchez. Saying he's not going to get more open than that. Just throw the ball. As kind of an indictment on the quarterback where brady saw it as you know something that was hard to believe. Couldn't believe that that his coach thought that a throw like that with that easy. And when you look at tom brady look at the arc of his career. He's someone who's kind of always understood his limits and by understanding them so well he's found a way to transcend them so those limits that he has this keen understanding of and that being this superpower. It is something that we can. Plainly see in contrast to josh allen and john elway and patrick mahomes and lamar jackson. These absurd physical talents. And that's been clear set ever since we saw brady with shirt off to be honest at the combine in two thousand but because he is also the greatest of all time without real serious dispute at this point playing more super bowls than anyone ever by far at to ask if you fully buy his explanation that that superpower is in fact and understanding of his own limitations. At first i didn't. And i remember. I was once in his house in two thousand thirteen back when we thought he was getting old. 'cause he was going to be thirty seven when the season started. And you know he can't play forever and he said something really interesting. He said there's nothing that will be able to replace football. And hopefully it gets to appoint where there is when i retire in nine ten years and he said it so offhandedly and so smooth that it was it went right over my head. It was a shot across the bow. Here was a declaration to play until he was aged forty five and he someone who has made a mockery of conventional wisdom. And so i thought there is no way when he said that that he was someone who learned how to play football within the scope of his own limitations. But as you watch him play you actually see it on the field. And i think that it helps define him as a football player because he can't do what aaron rodgers does. He can't do it. Patrick mahomes does these sort of amazing acrobatic throws but what he can do and what he's always been able to do is pick apart a defense and bleed teams to death. And i think that that's what he was getting at when he talks about playing within his own limits because he's so deadly an accurate when he throws short.

Center steps up to register underserved South Dallas residents for vaccine

"Here's the nbc. News affiliate in dallas texas reporting from vaccine registration event at a neighborhood in south dallas with a majority hispanic population. There was tremendous turnout at this oak cliff. Vaccine registration operation for people like to minka a sparser came. I don't know how to going the internet. Sparce says turn out here sends a message chose neither. There's a lot of people here that's willing to take that time. There's a lot of people here who are willing to get the shot. So how do we ensure that people like domingo and people from other communities of color get vaccinated joining us now. Dr james hildreth. He's an infectious disease. Expert on the president and ceo of mary medical college. He's a member of the fda's vaccine advisory committee which is evaluating co vaccine's. dr hilda. thank you for being with us. I'm just floored by this. We talked for eight nine ten months about one day. If we're so lucky to be able to get an effective vaccine not to vaccines or three vaccine effective vaccine. You know we're gonna have to work to really convince people to take it but that was going to be the problem. I i'm fascinated by the difficulty. People continue to have in getting access to this vaccine access seems to be a bigger issue than acceptance. Well ali. thank you for having me. I but the problem has many layers. There's a gap of supply which all of us are dealing with. There's a gap of trust in the the gap of access that you've alluded to a and these issues are related to the same reason why african americans biden next. People are being more devastated by the pandemic in the first place. A you know. We don't have access to healthcare on an equal basis. We don't have access to technology. So all the things that led to covid nineteen disproportionate affecting the populations are reaping reflected. Now by the challenges with vaccine. Can't underestimate the the trust issue here that we've gotta make sure. We have trusted messengers organizations. That are leading the way in terms of trying to get the vaccine to the people we want to another thing is we have detected backstage to these populations not necessarily relying them coming to the back. Things are that has to be part of our strategy. We have to get the vaccine to the communities ca. Some of them just cannot make it where the vaccine have been given. That's a major hurdle. We have to get us that.

FBI report warned of "war" at Capitol a day before fatal riot

"Next guest is reporting in the washington. Post that the day before the attack on the capital. An fbi office in virginia issued a warning about plans for a war at the capitol a war prior to this reporting in the washington post. The fbi claimed that it had no indication at all. The riot was planned. Washington post reviewed an internal f. b. i. Document that warned quote an online thread discussed specific calls for violence to include stating be ready to fight. Congress needs to hear glass breaking doors being kicked in get violent. Stop calling this a march or rally or protest go. They're ready for war. We get our president or we die nothing else will achieve this goal. Only eight days left to strengthen security at the capitol for the inauguration of joe biden and kamala harris karston connor lamb revealed some of the threats but capitol security planners now have to anticipate. 'bout four thousand armed patriots to surround the capital and prevent any democrat from going in and they have published rules of engagement inning. When you shoot in when you don't so this is. This is an organized group. That has a plan. They are committed to doing what they're doing. Because i think in their minds air patriots. They're talking about seventeen seventy six and so this is now a contest of wills joining us now. Is matt zap petoskey national security reporter at the washington post up. Matt your reporting found this. Fbi memo written in a field office in virginia day before the attack on the capital identifying planning for what they called war did that memo get to washington. It did that memo was briefed to the washington field office which is responsible business here in the city of washington dc. The fbi said at a briefing today information was also shared with the local joint. Errorism ask for a shoot unfiltered use some other law enforcement if the fbi today through what the in about it though aside from talking to each other about it remains very unclear clearly capitol. Police is not ready for the that. They based on wednesday despite the fbi having this information and everything out in summer. It's definitely made a wash in everything that i've been reading about The security experts approached this at the fbi and elsewhere is there's a certain amount of of sense that the people involved in these kinds of chats wildly exaggerate their intentions. They're just trying to say the most dramatic thing they can say and they usually end up doing nothing and that there was a certain kind of weariness that might have in in the way they analyze the stuff. I think that's a great observation in an accurate one. You know the fbi officials who talked to us in describing this thing that well you know. There's a lot of chatter online. How do you separate what's real from. What's just someone boasts in this warning itself. Sort of oddly mentioned re speech concerns. And we don't want to do anything to encroach on free speech even though the threats as you just put up on the screen clearly sort of cross the line into being threats but that's a challenge the fbi has how do they separate fake from wheel when it comes to online chatter. And then what do they do about it. I mean there's clearly a lesson to be learned here that maybe they need to get a little more seriously in their some internal soul-searching in the fbi about you. They take the online chatter of trump's supporters. And you know white supremacist. Extreme is less seriously than they take other online chatter. Those are questions that i think wrestling with. Is it your sense that this is a nine eleven event of for this kind of a security concern that there were a lot of things on nine ten that were taken less seriously than they were taken on the afternoon of nine eleven Is that what we have here. Way hate to make that comparison. I know many people have made that comparison. I think what i would say is look. This is an important data point and what it does. Most significantly in my mind is raised questions. About why the fbi on friday said we had no indication that something like at the time that seemed a little specious on. Its face because there was so much online chatter that reporters to but now we see that. The fbi saw that online chatter recognized. It wrote an internal bulletin about it but then apparently wasn't sufficient air matt's up petoskey the washington post. Thank you very much for your reporting. Thank you for joining us tonight. Thank you

JRPG Report Episode 144 - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Black First Details - burst 02

"Hello friends welcome back to the show. This is the g. rpg. Report episode one hundred and forty five little bit weird this week and we knew it was going to be with christmas eve falling on our normal release date and of course christmas the next day and there must situation My little girl's birthday being the day after christmas so yeah we get a bang bang. Bang three a craziness there. Obviously just mitt that there was really no time to reporter Record a podcast. Even before christmas was just too hectic so We're recording this on saturday. The twenty seventh just a couple days left in twenty twenty. Goodbye rents But we've got a lot of cool things to talk about today. I kinda wanna wrap up all the stuff that we've missed as it's been nine days since our last pockets. No i'm sorry that's not even right. That is fuzzy. Math is been eleven days since our last podcast. So we've got a few things to go over That have popped off. Since then. And i wanna kinda look look forward to sometime this week. Mean jordan are going to get together and kind of talk about What games we really loud from. Twenty twenty maybe even discussed some Game of the year options and then look forward to twenty twenty one as Right off the bat. We got a bunch of games coming out in the beginning of the first the new year. We got to tell you rods two. You've got bravely default to you've got he's nine And the newly Confirmed for some of five strikers. Just a name The the big big ones I'm sure there'll be others. That will be unfortunately lost in the in the way. So we're going to record that sometime this week and In lieu of any news breaking. I may just make that part of the normal podcast unsure on that. But let's get into it. I hope you guys had a wonderful christmas holiday I didn't have any games that i particularly wanted that. We're already out. So i just kind of asked Asked the parents for Email confirmation that beginning Today risa to when it comes out on january twenty six that was cool and i did end up much too. Many of your delight. Hopefully i'm finally going to take a dive into these series. I picked up. Yee's eight for only twenty dollars on the ps story. I could not refuse as the physical version just refuses to ever go down in price so i figured this was by far the best opportunity. Get in on. What many consider to be a very very good. Jr pg and at some point. I'll be playing. It don't really know when that's going to be but that's enough rambling We did have fell. Calm day Twenty twenty winter addition and we got a few tidbits of information about the new legend of heroes. Toddle kiro no koseki if you notice the thumbnail for this Podcast are the two newest main characters is a third as well but these They dig use some high-rise resolution images of the to unsure why the third one was kind of like ashaari pow We'll get you later but still no names for these two characters but we do have a bit of information stuff. You see that image. There's a couple other on our facebook and twitter feed of those two characters while they are. I say have that trails feel to them. I do kind of agree with what president condo said last time that at mediate Glance they don't appear to be trails characters. And i believe that lies in the fact that they are from calvert So they're going to look a little bit different and we'll talk about that in just a little bit. These illustrations were drawn by katsumi. Nama and the other characters are from alcom. Like i said the character's names were not announced to this game is coming out sometime in twenty twenty one in japan so those were the images. There were some other ones as well. If you'd like to see all those. I did put up a slide show video on our youtube channel. So you can check those out if you don't feel like clicking through pictures of via the website here is what we do know and i will just read this to you as this is the about for the new age of heroes karoo new koseki beyond the blue sky ahead of flashing light a land. A dawning resides cuba. There's no spoilers going on in here. This is all preliminary stuff in the news story arc. So we don't have to worry about that type of stuff the ladder this latter half of the trails. There is about to begin. The setting moved to the calvert republic in two thousand and twenty one foul calm release. Legend heroes kernigan the latest entering the trail serious as its fortieth anniversary rumors of work. The calvert nation is a multi ethnic nation experiencing unprecedented economic growth. Brought about by post war reparations. In a corner of the capital of a huge nation were immigration issues bringing about political instability. Okay well maybe. There are some spoilers in here okay. let's just get to the best. I'm sorry i read that. And i didn't think about it until just now okay. The command style action time bow system. You didn't previous trails. Titles has been revamped and that's going to set up an from a couple people. Let's just see what they said. Seamlessly transitioned from action oriented field battles to turn based commands battle to turn based command battle systems while making use of the unique elements the sixth generation combat or meant would try to pronounce his last time. I'm not sure how it is x. I f. r. x. i. p. h. a. z. Feel in a ballots to evolve from the previous trails titles. Okay so what does that mean. I don't. I don't know i really don't know how to had say seamlessly transition from action oriented field battles to turn based command battle systems I i mean obviously there's a bit of an extra element when you strike the enemies on the field in order to go into the turn based battle i. I need to see this in action to really know what they're even beginning to talk about would just have to wait and see You will feature many elements you laws. It's setting including a topics system which enabled together until such topics by communicating with. Mpc's out towns tra- gate situations in your favor when you act as a spray gun and that is the The character it's basically a detective. But they're calling them spring and alignment flame system. In which characters three alignments great and chaotic fluctuate depending on your own style influencing various status allies and adversaries and even scenario developments please look forward to allege heroes lowest entrance toasters depicted enrich expression by thumbs new original ingen. So that's that's pretty cool Here's what how they set up the situation and I get. I don't wanna get too much into this. The to emit the two people that you see in the image the one is the one call the speaker those are they say sometimes detective somedays negotiators and other days as bounty hunters. They're up for any job from any client. That's pretty cool And then the other one is Say to be a school girl wearing uniform. Prestigious school visits a rundown building located in old town in cowards capital. So that's the setting that's beginning of it. You can check out those images. Like i said there's a third character in the images as well with the two swords on his back and some long hair but we don't have any details. There is a battle scene that shows what looks like to be a craft or an art powering up but that from that snippet it does look to be turn based. So don't i'm so confused as to what to make. But i'm certainly excited about this one. But the lack of details and the promise of something new is leading to some question marks popping up. And i don't necessarily love that idea but it is what it is and until we learn a little bit more. It's just going to be speculation Unfortunately though that wasn't the only bit of information. And i'm sure we'll have a bunch more but Foul calm day twenty twenty winter. Also let us know about and this is not really affecting us as much. But they did. Say that a hatch marco koseki which is the one before this one and after cold steel four Clouded leopard entertainment will release a switch. Pc esteemed version of the game Sometime in summer. Twenty twenty one in japan in asia. I'm nearly positive. That's the same company that handled The transition for coastal three and four to the top of my head. So i came out for. Ps four in japan on august twenty seventh. So you know nearly a year later. They're talking summer to get that Switch pc version now. It handles the asian side of this and i s america handles the translation available. At least they have for the past two games In the cold still series in the west still no confirmation that that translation is ongoing. That have to assume that it is unless it's being handled by other parties I mean exceed did do the first two trills of cold steel games but at imagine that they are going to do this hedge amari as well and as soon as i hear something about that it will happen. It's certainly a good thing that this is happening and It could lead to a speedier at least for these games in the west. But like i said still no information on unfortunately. The last thing that they talked about was not briefly. Mentioned this last time the natto. noca- seki game. That is coming out in japan for For playstation four. This was the old Two thousand twelve least. Psp action rpg though some new details and images kinda showing the ps p version versus the Ps four version of it They're sent opposites gonna run at sixty frames per second on. Ps four with more vibrant graphics. Not being obviously these are things that you'd want to have updated from an old old system user interface options One thing that i thought was very interesting. And i'm not to say what they say. This game is not connected to the trails game. However the main character's name is now utah herschel now you trails players especially cold. Steel will know towa. Her last name is hershal So what they're they say there's no connection but then there's a connection is the protagonist and a boy from that island who attends and academy in saint elise. Those aren't you know aren't names that i recognized the from the trails series so it is very very interesting and i would be would like to know what that connection is at kind of read through it. You can read through the tales. Like i said before i am lower on the percentage scale To say of this game was actually going to make it over here or not. I if i if you say your day is gonna come today out outs. Action say no but would just have to wait and see. The original game did not look super impressive. So this isn't a game that i'm all that excited about to begin with but we'll have to. We'll just have to wait and see if that indeed happens for a lot of switch owners the next. Gop g they will more than likely be picking up is going to be bravely default to gain closer and closer to that february twenty. Sixth rolled wide release date friend square annex released new trailer for it albeit in japanese and have still not seen an english version of this yet so it talks all well. Supposedly it talks about wiz walt. The country established by those mejia's. They did it themselves to studies. The magic research institute But the the real kicker with this one and you can see it. Is this places overgrown. It looks like it was built kind of in the middle of it are on top of a giant tree. And there's just this tree just going right up through entire town is really cool again Trailer is how long was trailer of about three and a half minutes. Like i said in japanese so you can't really tell what's going on but it is kind of cool to see some of the visuals in action Four it but if you're elected shake those game out for yourself you can check out the demo for it It is now live on the east shop and One who feels the demo before its release will even pick up one hundred mine. Intendo platinum points here is the Short official description of the demo experienced the games at risk and reward system character strategy and stunning visuals in the latest braley default to final demo in this demo. The games four men characters are already other journey with jobson abilities at their disposal. I downloaded this. The other night. as if getting the switch away from my kid was hard enough with minecraft previously The kid did pretty good for Christmas and her birthday. And i now had to contend with her own copy of animal crossing so she and my wife can play two switches and who copies of animal crossing so they can will each other's islands. I know she also got the Spyro trilogy which. I really enjoyed those games growing up. So i can't wait to play those with her and relive those moments and she picked up mario maker to so. I'm not seeing that switch for a while. Maybe once she goes to sleep. If i don't have anything to play eck fired that demo. I would like to see how it is shaping up as will If you've got some free time and you're looking for d'you monster hunter rise. There are to say ten videos in total. Let's do a little no here. One two three four seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. There's twelve total. So i check. They were they were released in two packs. I take them all and made them into six long. Because it only about a minute minute long. So if you're one to check out some of the different weapons they go into monster hunter rise. You can do that going from Things like the switch axe gun lance hammer sorted shield heavy light bogue gun. Land is long swords and even the hunting horn. It is coming out in japan on march. The eighteenth for playstation four and switch said. This is the second trailer for the game. It looks pretty cool. I do hope that they bring this one. Over is from publisher. D three Developer felicia quite heard of them before. But still no word on it. I really hope they bring this over because it does pretty fun but yeah nothing Nothing quite yet. i'll go over some of these ones. That are just videos. There's a fifteen minutes of new footage from christ tales. This is previewing the present and future game play of it Remember this game got pushed back to early. Twenty twenty one. That's just the winner that don't into it's been Hit with a couple delays here lately. Not sure how much. Everything's pandemic related at this point but how much they just wanna fine tune things in. How much is really needed to make this work. Obviously you're doing with a system of past present and future while stuff can go wrong and working Just the way that you would like it to work New genesis the fantasy star online. To almost say reboot but definitely the new version of there is the opening movie for it and you should probably check this out. If we're looking at over fifty minutes of new footage as well mostly the character creation for its but this opening movie You know typically when you see these opening movies. They're using a pre rendered scenes. This was actually created using parts of the in game graphics. Engine which looks amazing Definitely if you're looking forward to this you should check it out sometime in twenty twenty. One is the release date Four it but again. This is one of those. Well not one of those but this is the faa gain. That i'm kind of just don't understand why it's not on playstation four. In the west it is in japan. But you've got to either play on xbox or on pc here in the west doesn't make a ton of sense but there's just things like that in this world that we gotta kinda get used to them. I guess we got three bits of sky news this week. i is. You can check out the fourth official trailer for six defiance of destiny I believe there's an english. There's an english version for this out. Now you can check it out. There was originally came out. There was just a japanese version but the english version shows off of really cool voices that they've got for the game. They got some good voice. Talent in this one in Very fitting for the series especially the little reincarnated pug services is awesome It's about seven or review of the game If you are curious about what's going on in this one changes that they've made this series. You will definitely want to check it out. Of course it doesn't come out in the west until summer. Twenty twenty one. Japan is going to get it in right about a month on january. The twenty eighth The other day actually. This was on christmas eve that this news broke New punchy released some new information screenshots for the game featuring and i hope i get these names right la haro aetna and flown Those were the original characters from the original the sky and they are saying that Basically once you beat the game you can Play a scenario with these original characters in it so kind of a you know. They're not in the main game this something post post content but the fact that they're in their would open the door to other characters popping up from other games as well. So that's a cool thing The world inside of an item. I m worlds have mended. Detailed in this article on worlds are divided into several fours slash layers and the items level increases with every four. That you clear says weapons become stronger as they level up. You can clear there either. Worlds to power them up once. An item is leveled up. You can get the same item at the same level from then on pretty cool feature of the sky series all these images i took input into a slide show. You can check that out on our youtube channel so you can dispatch companions into item worlds to research them. There's a new team attack system with up to ten characters in it. That's a pretty cool feature. New enemies were detailed There's a new horsemen. That's pretty crazy. So here's the Previous protagonist Oh here we go says not only will hear from. Our doctors appear the protagonist in heroines of the sky. Two three four and five will also appear in three d. The protagonist and heroines wilburs as downloadable content sometime after the launch of disguise six. So there's a from the sky to or i don't know in timika these pronunciations. I'm at risk of offending people. I understand how they're supposed to be pronounced So yeah they're gonna add them in there as as post content deal see. That's the type of thing. Like i would think you'd be okay with paying for because that's obviously not a part of disguise six. They are previous games characters in new content. So take how you feel about. Dlc that is that's one thing i think is is no k To do speaking of all those previous disguised characters they are all assembled in the rpg. Mobile game And we got news from bolt chain games that they will release worldwide the mobile version the sky arc in spring. Failing the Test

"This week. We watched as the first americans received the covid vaccine heroic healthcare workers who have been on the front lines of this fight for months it was emotional an extraordinary and it is something we should be very excited about but at the same time we cannot forget that most of us will not be getting this vaccine for months and we cannot lose sight of the crisis at hand because the spread of covid never been worse for almost nine months now i have been reporting on cova covering it every day. The stories of healthcare workers families business owners teachers. I thought i understood the chaos of this moment but a few weeks ago. I realized i did. I became one of the more than sixteen million. Americans who've contracted the virus sorted my family and the experience of getting covid made it even more clear to me the we have failed and continued to fail in some very qa's namely testing and tracing. I'm stephanie rule. Msnbc anchor nbc. News senior correspondent and. This is modern rules. A podcast from nbc. Think an iheartradio on this podcast. We're not gonna waste your time. We're interested in getting straight to the point and they were gonna leave you with some time to think and today we are looking at why the us is failing the covid test and how we can use the tools we have at our disposal right now to maybe get things under control. And i've got the perfect guest here to help us. Try and make sense of it. Dr sheesh off. He's the dean of brown university school of public health and he has been a crucial voice of science and reason throughout this pandemic doctors off. Thank you for joining us. I start with covid nineteen tests. Can you explain to us. What kind of tests are available in the united states. The pros the cons. Because i'm gonna tell you when my husband woke up with a scratchy throat not feeling that. Well i foolishly thought. Let's run out and get a test. There's no such thing as let's go out and get a test so we thank you so much for having me on it. And this is a question that confuses people still nine ten months into this pandemic right now if you wanna think about a test to diagnose whether you have the virus or not you have to twice. It's an antigen tests and a pcr tests. Most of the tests we've used over the last nine months are these. Pcr tests the really good They pick up almost anybody who's infected. They have to be running a major lab and they can be turned around twenty four hours but sometimes the a week. Let's talk about that. Other kind of test the antigen tests. That's the rapid test. Yeah that's the rabbit office. Cheap ten to fifteen bucks a test as opposed to a hundred and fifty two hundred dollars for pcr tests. You should be able to get a result in fifteen minutes. So you're thinking cheap and fast. What's wrong with this story. It's a little less sensitive. So let me explain without me the. Pcr tests will pick up somebody with the infection up two weeks. After they've been infected the antigen tests is really a test for business. So if you are in that period of time where you're spreading the virus. Lots of people the antigen tests will be posits but there are other times. Let's say later in the disease course where you may not have a lot of virus. You're still infected. The level of virus you have is very low. 'cause you're kind of on the tail end of your illness the antigen tests will then turn negatives not gonna be as good at picking those people.
