"Rosenberg. Welcome to the program. Thanks bob it's great to be with you. Oh eric trish. I even heard of you. I've heard of you in fact i've had you on the program many times. You have so many new york times. Bestsellers that i. I laugh because to somebody who i don't know. I think i have five officially but i thought you have written so many books and your books do so well and you now have another book so before we get into current events. 'cause i wanna talk about the middle east. Sure i'm tell us about the new book. Because it's i know it's it's the new book. Well what's interesting about this book. Enemies and allies is. It's the first book. It's the only book that really takes you inside the middle east twenty years after the horrific events of nine eleven to to assess. Where are we today right. Who our enemies today. Because they've changed and who our allies today. They've also changed but what makes us book. Distinctive is not just that. I'm sort of analyzing it from my own vantage point. But i'm taking the readers inside the palaces and the presidential compounds in every major american ally in the middle east. You're sitting with prime minister. Benjamin netanyahu you're sitting with israeli president ruby. Rivlin you're sitting with. Israel's defense minster by you're also sitting as i take you with me into riyadh saudi arabia and you're meeting mohammed bin salman most consequential and i think the most controversial leader in the arab world and presidency in egypt and king of jordan and the leaders of the united arab emirates and bahrain. This there is no book. Might this that has allowed you to sit there and listen to these leaders. What are they think are the worst threats facing not only the united states but them how do they how are they changing their societies because there are massive changes. So that's what makes us book interesting and for me fascinating to live it over the last few

Author Craig Stanfill Tells a Compelling Tale in His First Novel 'Terms of Service'

"Hey folks As you know this is the eric metaxas show and as you also know whenever you read one of those websites that always says terms of service. Have you seen that. And i just thought to myself. It's so annoying because it could mean anything. Nobody reads it. And i thought what a great title that would be for a book. But i don't have time to write a whole book. So i thought maybe somebody else would and they did. His name is craig stand fill and the title of the book is terms of service. Craig welcome the program. Thank you eric. Okay this is a great title terms of service. Ominous is this a dystopia novel. It is an extremely dystopia. Novel portrays a future that we might be creating where you've got these huge big tech companies that run everything in your life and of course they're watching everything you do. Add the the final turn of the screw is they've got these a is that are constantly watching over your shoulders and monitoring everything you do and that lets them exert an incredible level of control over your life. Okay this i gotta tell you you've got your phd in artificial intelligence in one thousand nine hundred eighty three before. I think there was artificial intelligence practically so you are at least an expert on this subject. Most of us of course no nothing about artificial intelligence. So why does it seem so scary to you and obviously you put it in the novel terms of service which i hope people get a copy of but what do you see that the rest of us wouldn't have a clue about well first of all there's nothing intrinsically evil about it's sort of at some level just another technology it can be used for good or ill but when you develop a new technology with as wide ranging implications ai. You really need to think about. What are the risks associated with that technology. And what could happen now. The important thing to understand about. Ai is in the context of social media and so forth is that it is a force multiplier as they say as an example facebook has only fifteen thousand content moderators. And they've got something like two billion people use their platform on a monthly basis and do the risk to take can't watch everybody they can all. They can watch almost nobody. So what they do. In order to enforce their rains upon you is they let their is most of the work.

explain what slender man is or stick people in have other cultures seen this thing what they have actually but it's been a while it is something that feels sort of new and these sounds stick stick people wonder man type things they will look physically similar is there hall very very again like really to tend to be home human is help people to describe it they often are wearing hats in which case they're called half man sometimes you don't see any features on the moms are just black almost like shadows and then they're called shadow people so there are different variations on it but the slender man is one that became popular around to early two thousand ten this new type of website called creepypasta the pasta was sort of tape borrowed from the old copy and paste instruction of the early where you before you have to laboriously type things and then all of a sudden with computers you can just copy them well placed it now if you go exactly and so that gave kind of a jump start to center the firm interesting large communities for people to use on the internet well one very popular area was horror and if you started searching for things you could find names like the break when to go cold man Michigan dogs man melon had and the six like it sent center was one of my favorite wonder man what kind of an eerie one because there was a German association with children you know it's kind of a a very very creepy thing and also there was this sort of threat that it could do things to people as a can of paint on the Senate had this mansion somewhere in the woods and unfortunately in two thousand fourteen or fifteen it was in may he became attractive to some teenage girls almost they weren't quite teenagers teenagers even yet I think they're about twelve and they somehow this idea of slender man and to them it felt like meet at something real where they felt that they had to protect their families from the slender man and then they could also go live in his mansion in the woods if they killed one of their classmates and they ended up actually almost doing that they stand a classmate another girl a number of times and we work was not made big news when it happened that was in Waukesha which is barely an hour from where I live so we heard a lot about it you know in my coverage of the trial and there is a lot of debate as to whether these girls were actually mentally ill or if there was just some pop and people of course always say well maybe there is there is power behind that image somehow that they were camping in and it was making them do these bad things and it cost quite a bit minister around here but it just goes to show the powers that our collective consciousness sort of seems to have when these things come out that touch on in there and eight I think part of the reason it was so powerful is that this idea of these tall slender things has been around for a while in in and in many cultures their native Americans that have these sick people figures they're somewhat related to dear people thank running on their hind legs down roads there tall it got very skinny legs like dear sometimes they'll have who even or or horns and they're considered very much like the water horses of Scotland in some places bye bye from the native American tribal people because they can shape shift and more people will see this beautiful looking woman they don't notice that she's fat hello and they go somewhere where they're in and and having terrible things happen so they're very nervous if they see a very lovely woman running along the road at night trying to signal to stop in and pick her up and and maybe some of that has to do also it is it's easier to have that sort of thing going on leave that on one of the things that are going fast your place is in where you might feel obligated to pick someone up in in in the room right wonder man been known Linda to try to hurt people directly I don't believe that there are fighting of something that looks exactly like slender man or the shadow people where they where people have found directly her I think particularly with the sadness gentle people are something that are much more widespread and better known I think they've been around longer than are on mobile computer age creatures are monsters have and I don't know that it's actually you know kind of like the the upright canines they seem very some people say they seem to not even and yet I I don't have the records that I haven't seen the stories of them actually injuring human beings or even animals that's an interesting take but nowadays with social networking isn't slender man almost thought like a fad thing yeah it it became really very much a fan in the social networks and and again the center of the stories were something about it just appealed to the job and people were writing stories maybe it it is just so scary to think of this really stretched out in person that doesn't look like it could be human and there it is you know on the road side following you or wherever and although I have to add I really personally don't have lots of sightings slender man if if any myself a few people I've heard have had a report on it but generally when there are reports it's more like a half man for the shadow people and that also be sent to the same sort of thing with animals for instance I have had and have been getting increasing numbers of reports of something called the shadow wolves the shadow wolf said a wealth of user from people very diverse places they haven't heard of one another it's not something that I've written a lot about although I I started to but I know one place on the edge of the national for state forest in Wisconsin well I've had three separate people right about there driving along and they see this kind of dark thing it's either alongside the road in some woods near the road somewhere where they can just see it and it has a wolf like shape but it just isn't dead black color and they can see I usually has a glowing red eyes sometimes you see the team and it's just huge for any type of actual doctor well sometimes I meet enormously huge and usually it just sort of melts into the shadows as as they get out of range of looking at it but that's kind of a new enough to start a medically called the thing it was like a shadow wolf I had one incident this is actually my last book master the minus that happens I believe in Tennessee where an entire large families thought this thing they're all outdoors to a kind of farm chores they had nice large vegetable gardens and of client patches they all of a sudden it looked and sounded big shadowing black walls looking at them from the one and they are very kind and yelling their children there was you know there was a grandmother and this thing started just walking across the garden is if they weren't even there and finally it turned and looked at him and when it did that they realized it was like something two dimensional because when it turns there was almost nothing to see then turn back and they could see the full side view of it again and the grandmother and I talked to several I interviewed several members of the family and and they all their find what happened in late last night and the grandmother who I'm not sure how old he was grab some type of an empire movement and started chasing toward it and then it just ran off into the woods now what is the which she wolf wait while is originally I thought it would be just sort of a legend this thing has been known for a long time and a place it appears in a place called over planes and the east side of Michigan and about probably twenty years or so ago there is a a writer for an area publication who David complicated his name is who wrote kind of a definitive story about what we thought of it is that time and at that time it was most often seen in an open area.

"Nine seconds to play in the fourth quarter in Portland. The thunder at taken a one fifteen one thirteen lead on the blazers. This of course is a game five Portland try to close things out. The rub we one, but again they trailed by bucket. They've got the ball under forty seconds. And now we are tied Damian Lillard just hit on layup. And the game is tied at one fifteen Lillard has forty five now make that forty seven Magana one fifteen one fifteen. By thunder. I cannot convert on his shot so Portland gets the ball back. They'll have a chance to win. Raptors beat the magic one fifteen ninety six to run a win the series four games to one Sixers beat the nets one twenty to one hundred. Philadelphia wins the series four games to one. So that means Toronto Philadelphia a will play in gender. We'll play each other in the second round. And we do have a final Portland is just hit a three pointer at the buzzer. Not only to win the game. But to win the series will try and figure out who hit it. But again, a deep three pointer from the blazers, and it looks like it's going to be good one eighteen one fifteen at I believe it was Damian Lillard if it was that means he put up fifty including.

Thank you for your show. I love listening to you. I have a question we have a small biz. Business at at our home. And we're looking to purchase some commercial property what when we go to purchase this property. What name should we put it in personal name or the business? Name worship. Should we create another entity? I have to ask you a quick question. How is your current business structured is it a sole proprietorship? Is it a partnership is an escort peration or an escort? You're an escort. Okay. Definitely definitely not in the escort. That is a big no-no. Okay. So what I would suggest you do is set up a separate LLC text is a partnership and owned the property in that do you and your husband both work in this business? Yes. Okay. Then own the property jointly. Together, fifty fifty is an LLC partnership, and that's the best way to run it. So you'll have one business entity doing the commercial proper. Forty. You'll have another business entity running your business, and then your commercial property will have rent paid to it by the S corporation, and you want to make sure you structure that rental payment that it that it's a qualified business income available for section one ninety nine. That's that unique little twenty percent..

"Forty nine seconds to go in the third period. But a goal from Steven stamkos gets to lightning that closer to tying this game up a great play by that line, Miller, Polat and stamkos. And there was a really great devastation of this not giving up on the play there as Miller and put in a lot of hard work cycling the puck and winning the fifty fifty battles. And they capitalized on a breakdown with Steven stamkos is alone in front of the net and takes care of business. As left he as you said Dave earlier had to make a couple of really great saves on Schwartz their point Blake chances. Nearly a two on one opportunity for them in that last shift that earlier on he kinda beats the lightning forward on the back. Check who got caught puck watching and had a nice, easy tap-in. "Revolutionary the side that it was the invasion, and it was today in the final time to minutes to eight nine seconds. Welcome back to the forum presented by red brand fence. Mike pennant jute felt coming to you from our Jimmy Johns of Lexington broadcast studios. That was Larry komo's with the call of the two thousand thirteen Kentucky Derby orb giving hall of fame trainer should mcgahey a very special victory in his career, his first and only Kentucky Derby win to this point. But he's hoping to get back to the winner's circle. Again, on the first Saturday in may with the very talented code of honor. Who begins his road to Louisville in the mutual macho man at Gulfstream later this afternoon and should nice enough to take time out of what has to be a busy morning to spend a few minutes with us here today. Shook welcome to the program and happy to take a little trip down memory lane. There. Okay. Bye. Yeah. Always fun to listen to. Do you ever go back and just just, you know, go back to the internet or something and Google orb Kentucky Derby and watch that race. You know, I got the race in my mind. I run they're being very seldom watch reruns. And isn't that of course, sometimes races like that at our rear races? They show up on TV TV or something, you know, where you see him again. But you know, I'm not real big looking into reruns. Well, it's all about the future now and the future is is for you anyways, as with the very talented code of honor. He begins in the Mu-chou macho man later today he begins his three rolled season. Why was this the right spot to get him started again should? Well, news on the calendar and get straight three year olds be isn't a oh. And, but so, you know, I just thought it was sort of the right like timing elected not to run to the rim sent and got him to pay park and train. Good down there. You know, you had a good work last weekend. Johnny went up there work team. And. So I thought it was also systems go, and you know, to turn up the solid race as short field with sort of like where he'll hopefully we can get a clean run. And just see what we staying. Yeah. He doesn't really need to win this race to you know, continue on you just get a good start. And you know, kind of feel his way back to the races. He's so talented, and you already know he can run. So it's really a a cherry spot for him. I think. Right. You know, you know, what? I mean, I, you know, people that asking us, listen, this is the win all the worry there the win. But you know, it's he's run to tiles as life. The last time, you know, I told her so, you know, he really hadn't missed much the way trained training. But you know, he's very inexperienced. And you know, so if if we get a good solid race into were give to compass forward, and that'll be good to like, I say, you know, we're in we're in try hoping we could win. But it's not the end all that means obviously Gulfstream's road to the Kentucky Derby wraps up with the one million dollar, Florida derby toward the end of March shook,.
