Of course it was something they introduced a combat everybody's quarter pound hamburgers, but it failed miserably when they brought it out in the 80s or 90s because people don't know fractions. They didn't realize that a third of a pound, a third of a pie, if you will, is bigger than a quarter of a pound. A fourth of a pie. So what they've done is they're going to bring it back in a whole new different marketing campaign as a three 9th burger. Because you know, three nights is just one third. If you know your fractions, divide the numerator and the denominator by three and you get one third and so they're one third pound burger is coming back as the three ninths pound burger. I never liked math. I'm not bad at it. I never liked it, but even I know my fractions still. I can multiply and divide fractions. And I can figure out numerators and denominators. Three ninths equals one third. Nothing's changed, but the marketing. And of course, you know, it's going to be a huge hit now, but when was the last time you went to a and W seriously?

The Truth About Pandemic Weight Gain

"I've been seeing a lot of reports in the media about how much weight everyone supposedly gained during the pandemic year. And some of these numbers are pretty alarming. One highly regarded source reported an average weight gain of twenty five pounds. Another widely reported survey. Put that number even higher at twenty nine pounds. Meanwhile everyone on social media is bemoaning. The fact that returning to in-person work or school is going to require a whole new wardrobe because they can no longer fasten their so-called hard pants internet memes and jokes aside massive weight gain in a large proportion of the population would have serious implications in the form of increased disease burden risks and disability. Fortunately when you take a closer look at the data the actual situation is not quite as dire or dramatic as news. Reports would suggest one of these reports for example is based on an internet survey conducted by harris poll on behalf of the american psychological association. And contrary to what you may have seen about this in the media the survey did not find that the average person gained twenty nine pounds during the pandemic four in ten of those surveyed actually said that the pandemic did not result in any unwanted weight. Change twenty percent said that they experienced unwanted weight loss as a result of the stress. The remaining forty percent said that the pandemic had led to unwanted weight game and the average reported weight gain in that group was indeed twenty nine pounds but only half of those or twenty percent of all respondents reported gaining more than fifteen pounds. Keep in mind as well that all of these were self reported changes not verified by any actual weight data so it's unclear just how accurate people's reports or recollections

Receivers to Target in the Late Rounds of your Dynasty Rookie Draft - burst 04

"Turnaround. Flip them for profit moving onto the next guy who ran five picks later in the nineteenth pick of the guy that i am super high on. Its the army brown from north carolina. Going to the washington football team and let me tell you why i like damn brown. The rebound has six one. One hundred eighty nine pounds of has pretty ideal size for receiver but and north carolina. he had to terrific seasons. He's past two seasons in twenty twenty. He had fifty five catches for one thousand ninety nine yards and the twenty nine thousand nine hundred fifty one catches for one thousand three hundred four forty nine yards and oh by the way throughout. He had twelve touchdowns in his sophomore year in towns in his junior. This is pretty impressive. Because i'm not sure if the North carolina has had great quarterback play particularly either. It is not. I'm not super familiar with a north carolina. The program but how how how should be the number one pick probably next year so they. They've had a pretty good quarterback he's other classmate that's right. I did hear about how so okay. They did have how but anyway. A guy putting up static this two years as Sophomore and junior. And he's doing this by the way with fifty one and fifth in fifty five receptions so it's not like he's getting a ton of targets he's maximizing opportunities putting up staff that are up there with with the top of the top and so this is a guy that You could argue count. Wise in what he's produced typically makes him atop success in receiver in this class. But oh by the way. He's fallen into the third round. Now the draft and he's actually ending up in a landing spot better than the guys that went before him because the washington football team they have terry maclaurin but do they have a number two receiver. No the don't cam. Sims is not going to cut it. Let's let's be real here for second. Kempson is not going to cut this guy who's going to step in right away and be the number two receiver so if anything. I can see this guy having a top five season as far as rookie receivers this this upcoming season because there is such an immediate chance for brown shine. I loved the town. And i love the situation. So both those things matchup for me and ryan patrick in their offense while just knowing ryan fitzpatrick. He's a guy who likes to sling the ball He's not free for big throws and yami brown is a guy that could be a target while so this is an the situation to really like especially in the strip term but i think his talent overall what is what will help him. Secure the number two role for washington in the long term. You did forget. Courtesy meals with their in the offseason. Curtis samuel okay. yes courtesy. You might be the number two receiver. But i'm not. I'm not saying that kurdistan wills a lot in geometry breath. If i think those are two big comparable players and the down brown can still end up. Overtaken curtis samuel for the number two role because it's not like samuels established in washington. Anyway he's gonna they're gonna walk on equal playing fields if anything. Yeah to co plank. Roads honestly yeah. So i mean i you know how high was on diane. Be brian i think i was probably than anybody else in the industry pre-draft in you know the fact that he didn't get a super high draft capital. I think a lot of people would just never really caught up to where the hype was going was headed towards So now he kinda ended up back back to where he's at. I know you said you saw them. You know at the beginning of the third round in. I'm in motion address. At pretty much where i got him every draft. You know there was two guys. I walked away with almost in every draft i. It was karen's marshall because if he was following the second taking them and diani bryant third. I was taking him no matter what and wasn't trained. Now those picks and i wasn't moving up or down at sticking with it. So i ended up with jami round maybe beating my number one player at of all my dynasty leaks. So you know. I'm i'm really high. I think there's a lot of potential to proprietor curse. Amiel i do think we'll we'll out touch him for sure year. One you know. But terry mccaren is another guy you know. He did not have first round draft capital as a rookie. So he's only got a couple of years left before they have to really choose on renewing his contract whether they wanna pay him if they view him to be a. You know an elite receiver that they wanna pay top ten top twenty money. They might just let him walk. You know and if that's the case the brown is almost a cologne terry records. You know he. He averaged over twenty yards a catch with a lot of volume in college. Which is one of. it's got to be one. The highest of abo scouted and You know the way he wins is he. Wins deep wins. He's a burner he gets out feel and i think there's actually a lot of room for him to grow because didn't see him run a really complex route tree and north carolina. They didn't ask them to you. Know and as kirsten says you know why why would the team tell him to do something different and teach them other rouse when when he consistently wins for twenty on the field every time you know. They don't need them to do that but an nfl. He probably has higher upside now because he can still learn. The trees like we saw with decay metcalf in some other like a jay brown. You know the same knock on metcalf was he. He only ran Slants down the in the Mississippi offense coming out of college and look how that turned out you know now. He's one of the better route runners in the entire league to mix with the athletes athletic ability. So i really liked the army brown. And i think that You know if you're getting him in the late second and early dirty of your rookie drafts. I think you're you're walking away with one of their players in the draft. One of the guys that we both really like. You can expect for geometry brown to produce put up some big

"It was an ambitious project that though it failed would become part of the iconography of a decade in september nineteen ninety one the first term residents moved in to biosphere to a three acre volume built to be an artificial materially closed ecological system biosphere one being the earth itself a texas oil billionaire. Funded it to study. How people might one day be able to manage a self sustaining ecosystem for life on mars. It proved to be a lot harder in practice than it was on paper. The oxygen levels would drop too low. The crew didn't really know how to grow crops for food. Their pollinator soon died out and the ants moved in not just any aunts crazy ants. My name's moxy and this is your brain on facts. They go marching to by two. They're the subject of to cgi movies from nineteen ninety. Eight and a picnic wouldn't be complete without them today. We're talking about ants. This topic comes to you by popular demand to social media comments an email. That's a new record. So thanks to rachel. A prodigious and kate from strange animals podcast. We really should think about ants more often than we do considering how many of them there are. I've often enjoyed dropping the fact that the ant population is equal to the human population by weight. But is it. The claim comes from one thousand nine hundred ninety four book journey to the ants by harvard university professor and a german biologist. They based their estimate on the estimate of a british entomologist who calculated that the number of insects alive on earth at any given moment was one million trillion. If ants make up one percent of the insect world that's ten thousand trillion according to the book individual workers weigh on average between one two five milligrams according to the species when combined all ants in the world taken together way about as much as all human beings. So if you're going to play on a seesaw with a bunch of ants you would need about a million of them on the other end to balance you out assuming you weigh sixty two kilos or about one hundred and thirty seven pounds which i will tell you. I don't with around thirteen thousand ant species worldwide. There comes a lot of variety. They range from smallest less than one millimeter long to over fifty millimeters or two inches. That's the aptly named titanic mira gigante so weights vary too but experts seem to agree the average weight of an ant is less than ten milligrams but even among experts. No one really knows how many aunts there are in the world. A bbc documentary claims. There are not ten trillion ants but one hundred trillion though it still suggests that the total weight of the ants equals the total weight of humans. Even by the author's own math their calculations are wrong. If we estimate that the seven point two billion humans on the planet weigh a combined three hundred and thirty two billion kilos or three hundred sixty six million tons and ten thousand trillion aunts weighing an average of four milligrams. Each we get only forty billion kilos or forty four million tonnes or about nine pounds of human for every pound of ants even if we allow for the smaller human population in one thousand nine hundred eighty four and the smaller humans. It's still back of napkin. Math at best one expert does say that the numbers might have inaccurate at one time. Probably about two hundred and fifty years ago. We must also remember that. Humans are getting fatter all the time. We're not just increasing in population we're increasing in fatness. So i think we've left the ants behind another way to try to wrap your head around. How many aunts there are is to look at the biomass of them. One of my favourite weird history and animated rant youtube channels sam annella compared the biomass of several animals and visualized them as spheres literal animal planet's for example. If all the blue whales in the world could be mushed together like plato. They'd make a spheroid about one hundred and forty meters or four hundred and fifty feet across blue. Whales are huge but there aren't very many of them. In contrast the chicken planet is more than twice that size three hundred and thirty meters or eleven hundred feet across their small. But we've read a lot of them. The math was tricky enough. What with trying to come up with a density for each animal. But sam found order of

How Does Captain America's Shield Work?

"The official marvel comics database says that Captain America's shield is a metal disc that's approximately two point five feet in diameter and weighs twelve pounds. But Rhett Lane at wired magazine did some math and figured out that it would be more likely to weigh forty three point nine pounds despite the shield being made of a unique alloy combining vibrant. NEOM, which is. A fictional metal steel in an unknown third component. Elaine also figured out that the density of the shield would be somewhere between eight, thousand, seven, hundred, sixty, seven, and four, thousand, three, hundred, eighty, three kilograms per meter cubed. That is somewhere between the density of iron and titanium. Now in the Captain America Comics Story goes that Dr. Myron McLean was attempting to replicate Hercules Golden Mace fusing. Vibrant NEOM with an experimental iron alloy some say it was a steel alloy but even McLean didn't know what it was because he fell asleep when an unknown catalyst was introduced to the process he was never able to duplicate the process. So the government painted the disk and gave it to Captain America. But how would you forge such a thing? Especially since metallurgy is so complicated just The forging temperature alone depends on the materials carbon content. It's alloy composition maximum plasticity in the amount of reduction required. Was it heated by induction or by continuous fuel fired furnaces with material this unique you'd have to carefully control the heating process. Now, Ford ability is how easy or difficult material resists de formation and since Captain America's shield is indestructible, it would have to be a very Narrow forging temperature range meaning it could only be forged for a short time after heating with metallurgical factors like crystal structure chemical composition in grain-size at play the only way McLean could have diminished their influence would-be by adding alloying wants possibly compounds that easily dissolved with the metal. There are all types of elements that could have been introduced, but it's likely the captain America's shield was forged. Like a super alloy, this is how metallurgist refer to iron base nickel base in cobalt based alloys. Specifically, the ones that offer very high strength at high temperatures. These really high strength metals and iron based grades are the least difficult wants to work with. So that would narrow down Mcclain's experimental alloy to iron super-alloys are really difficult to forge because of their narrow temperature range you can't. Even use regular sizing presses in hammers on them because they will deform. They even wear down the tools designed for forging them pretty easily. They're also extremely expensive like ten times. The price of carbon steel sounds a lot like captain America's shield right. But how do we explain the shields ability to absorb kinetic energy supposedly from the vibe rhenium in the alloy usually materials absorb kinetic energy. Through other mechanisms like plastic or elastic deformation or dynamic fluid flow but cap shield doesn't seem to be an elastic metric material and it's not organic like polyurethane in the movies it actually seems to reflect vibration rather than absorb it like when thor hits with Mueller in that first avengers movie and the shockwave flattens a whole forest. Perhaps that was because the shield reached its absorption limit. Another thing that's tough to explain his how aerodynamic the shield is. If it really weighed forty three point, nine pounds, it would be difficult to throw even for a guy in peak physical condition like Steve Rogers the comics Tony Stark actually puts electromagnet under the shield to help control it in mid flight but captain America later ditched them because they upset the shields natural balance it seems like the soldier and the shield are made for each other.

Lewis and Clark's Stinky Expedition

"Lewis and Clark expedition was pretty much. The original road trip there was camping grilling out a ridiculous amount of mosquito bites and a large group of men who did not have much opportunity to bathe. So when they picked up the Kagowa and her baby pompey near Fort Mandate to join them. She was probably a little worried about being with a bunch of smelly guys who thought nothing of rubbing themselves with rancid bear grease to keep the bugs away but at the time she officially joined them. The temperature was below zero so mary weather. Lewis William Clark in the men were probably a long way from maximum stink edge. When the CO captain's Lewis and Clark originally started preparations rations for the journey and eighteen zero three? They gathered their chosen men. Supplies trading goods from the native Americans and as much nonperishable food as possible. They didn't know how long the trip was going to take so among other things they weren't share of how many Christmas presents to bring it was at Camp Dubois near Saint Saint Louis that they spent their first Christmas together while waiting for the spring thaw to start their journey. According to Clark's journals three native Americans. Join them for a celebration celebration. And the men frolicked and hunted all day that Spring when it was warm enough to finally start heading to the Pacific Ocean Amir twenty the three hundred miles away. The men were sure to look pretty sharp. Since it was a military operation most of them had uniforms and the CO captains were no different. The red trimmed blue coat and white woolen waistcoats and trousers. They wore were the most splendid of all and in hindsight you would probably agree that they weren't overdressed. I if you know anything about will you know that. It's less than ideal for hot summer days. But as they went on they found that their clothes were wearing out tearing and more commonly just being very uncomfortable but out there in the west they were several decades away from the existence of a department store so so they had to improvise and adapt. They wore clothes for weeks on end. And when those wore out they started making pants and shoes and over shirts from the hides of the animals that they eight Oh and they ate a lot of animals while working their way through the great plains the men typically stuffed as much as nine pounds of meat into into their hungry mouths a date lucky for them. There was a lot of game to hunt in the planes. Because these bowling ball's size portions were pretty necessary. They were burning calories like today's professional athletes. Now you might think the big boat. They had made it easier to travel on the river right. Yeah you'd think so but you would be wrong.

"Or you need any advice or you are thinking of adopting go to that that's a great nation love it and then also November's national pet cancer awareness month which you know is very important to me because my socks of cancer and the other dog believe it or not had melanoma on his foot but the doctor says it was a hobby sounded worse than it was in it was a benign and that the margins were clear so I don't know what that means but I need to get the name of the melanoma so I can do more research okay the one thing I just that you know me this is my little by little love flag waving thing here because the only reason I knew that something was wrong with Keith cashmere she was acting weird and was signs of pain and I have just known about pain plus then you know I Google like everyone else does and that's when I knew to take her to the vet and that's when we found out she had to have emergency surgery because she her see commit burst and that was cancerous and it seated and all that stuff but I looked up and it says the signs of pain or anxiety agitation vocalization trembling restlessness and increased breathing rate and the reason I know this because cash where did that she was panting grimacing and she whichever everyone's in a while and I thought oh god that's not good but then they said there's some more subtle signs on increased heart rate if you get close to your dog and can tell reduced appetite they don't eat as much depression or reluctance to move and she also was reluctance to move **** when I walk around obviously she was having pain yeah but you know we don't think of that because dogs are so good at concealing said it could say they will have an old dog so I have time very attuned to her she's on medication for pain on different various therapies because she has arthritis and and that you know and right now she's fifteen any sixteen and it's just about keeping a comfortable so yeah she gets quite yeah I know when she's feeling a little bit will pain then at some times you know throughout the day than others so I just we just manage it but yeah I think it's really important to to kind of any does matter whatever I hate your dog is to know those sites as well and I'll tell you that if I had not recognize that in Russia to the emergency thought she would have let because she was septic and they even thought she was close like they said when I finally got her to the they said they come in ten minutes and said we need to do surgery now she's not gonna make it like do it do it do whatever you have to do but you know it's because I knew the signs of pain so I mean thank goodness for that thank goodness for that well and because of her cancer was sent me sorry that was me that was my sense all right yeah it's alright we discoveries pings and you know that's a tough thing to DO in here so because of the cancer and all that kind of stuff she needed to lose weight she was overweight she was well let's just say she might have been a nine out of ten any of the scale yep and she was actually six seventy nine pounds right and she should be between they said sixty five seventy Max but probably have more clothes sixty five she's now sixty seven pounds and she's right on target yeah and that's because of that but she you know eats very well and you know a whole host of problems can happen when you're an overweight dog and fighting cancer is harder you know cancer feeds off of facts yes and fighting cancer is a lot harder when you're overweight you know what was that this is a really really cool and important topic and it's something that was going to be covering and our next port Costa yeah body because I am going to talk about have a weight dogs but I'm really excited because we've got to affect next week what Travis procent was Travis brawl soon tell everybody he was a greatest American dog I like that I was judge that he actually one greatest American dog it was a show on CBS Gunnison about eight years ago but more than that but he is also the new host and cheese a trade in our needs a new host for my big fat Pat makeover on Animal Planet and that he is going to be going to do an interview with him I'm very excited to have him also maybe I can get some more to it maybe it'll help me but I know I just have to walk away from the leftover Halloween candy but Hey letting that will that will and the other thing as well is that this November it's also the what is it national shelter awareness week which is the bad which is being called but it is a really important week where we remember those who work in shelters and who you know who volunteered support animal shelter this and we just say thank you to them it's amazing because you know what that's the hardest job ever I have a friend to resa Shaffer who I absolutely adore she works the shelter she pretty much what she does full time now she just loves it she loves dogs and I said to her how do you because you know a lot of the dogs get euthanize that aren't adopted you know where she is and she's like it's tough it really is I don't like I attachment issues I couldn't do it like there's no way like you know I see it I know it's terrible but like a plant will die in the backyard I'm like I'm sorry I didn't take care of your I'm sorry the end of the season you know like I feel that it's my dad would say yeah what is that I am AT and throw up and what I think yeah yes I do it but it's it's tough I mean and even though it's like it's okay you just kinda it's not like I know you feel it absolutely absolutely it's it's at and you know all these people who do volunteer work in shelters as well my gosh my hat's off to them I've done a lot of my work has been in shelters yeah you know it's it's tough it's really tough so it a week where we can just say thank you to those people I get the home was one that was only we know one hard here okay I'm good with that just did the whole year with national shelter appreciation year I like it every year every four changing thing perfect.

Jeremy CorBin's Infamous Interview

"German Corbin gave an infamous interview it will be infamous for ever last night on the B. B. C. which I'm trying to place an entire day this is cut number twenty three of carbon with Andrew Neil last night let me give you another example are you going to have high dividend tax season that'll hit people noticing comes to not just the rich take some Dennis state pension maybe the host of a new age of about four thousand a small private pension fund they've saved in they've got dividend income about two thousand at the moment they pay nine pounds an income tax that sit under you they'll pay over four hundred pounds the income tax we're talking but people are just a fourteen thousand acts on the basis of their total income fourteen thousand here okay four hundred more than a tax on the basis of their total income and they would have that one and it's a great a tax so that would be that would put them eighty thousand and you said no people over eighty thousand would pay tax on these people learning fourteen thousand would pay four hundred more I would question that figure actually but what I would also say is that's the whole purpose behind a manifesto which I have here is to as we have to do something about the underfunding about public services and the poverty and inequality starts you have just discussing and yes we will I'm just send you say you're adding on to Jeanne underground any questions about the office here on the service let me come on but I do ask the question but it's amazing well I got my my manifesto right here and he's unaware of what's in it now Andrew Neil then probes about where it what's going to happen to the tax base when people with money skip out of the country code number twenty four business is well you often imply that these top five percent that you don't pay much tax at the moment and you're going to have make them do so what share of income tax revenues to the currently playing they they pay a top right of about forty five fiddles what share of income tax do they contribute contribute quite a lot of cool how much I couldn't give you the exact figure but contribute quite along the already contribute fifty percent of all income tax they are in very high innings of close on their paying a very high I'm going to the inside we think they could in a sense but more but it seems to me the tax base now's got narrower and narrower and if you take the very richest the top zero point one percent these people learning hundreds of thousands of times a year they pay eighty percent sorry one in eight of all income tax twelve percent of all income tax they pay it will only take a small corporate taxation is all on top of that they're only talking of income on something of tested it only take a small number of these people to leave the country and do their only thirty one thousand of them in zero point one percent your tax base crumbles no it doesn't crumble tool because it is also a large proportion of income comes from corporate taxation but I'm talking in tax revenues on the single biggest tax stream and more more it's paid by a few people at the top so that for if they don't like you you tax rises you lose your tax base I think they would also recognize is that tax rates in general have gone down that the levels of inequality have gone up the levels of personal wealth for them I've gone up enormously over the past ten years and they can see all around them the crumbling of public services and the terrible levels of child poverty rises to cross these pieces if you don't have the money Andrew you don't have the money the whole message has to be we need more equality we made no man's land opportunity here hi tax if you touch base leaves the country you don't have the money for that public spending there is no reason why they would have to leave the country and they should because we want people to be hit with all people to be investing and also they will get the benefits of a growing in katakana me they'll get the benefits of the investment opportunities we will bring through that growing economy as well they're just crazy by the way every talk of taxation triggers anxiety among people out there with troubles with the IRS

trying everything nothing was working the kick boxing was it working the the the day that the D. dieting wasn't working the you know the counting calories wasn't working the point system wasn't working the pre packaged food thing wasn't working she had done it he says listen he did great go over there if you lose if you lose a good chunk await I'll take you on a brand new shopping spree yeah hi so forty three pounds she charges she shopping she shopping. you know it and I noticed when she was telling me that about the shopping spree there was a look in her eyes sparkle that it was unbelievable that you can't really you can't really even explain now but the F. forty three pounds and and the new shopping spree so she's thrilled about that so way to go girl you you she are shot shopping right I mean but you know the thing is is that it's really not about buying the new clothes at a shopping spree what it really is about is the way you feel when you walk into that store you're more empowered you're not feeling like a high gotta go get myself like a new code it's getting colder I gotta go get myself like you know some winter stuff like and your dreading this experience right out of love yeah you're really you're there you feel good about yourself you there there's a different energy to you and make no mistake the energy definitely as it is right or transcend it transcends into your everyday life as well you know you're more productive at work I mean how many times do we hear that folks have much more energy after lunch time they have much more energy when they get up in the morning they actually want to go to their job and they actually want to perform and how great is that for you know the your boss in the people working for you because you know nobody likes a Meanie in the office and. really so it's really about empowering and giving the control back to our patients I know you wanted to say sorry I did I'm gonna get to hear just reminded me of a just real quick I want to say something so your time at the energy I had an email today from from a gentleman who last week he says last week he's down I think it's down from two nineteen is thirty five days and he was down from two nineteen two I believe one nine dear one eighty nine or something like that so about thirty pounds down thirty thirty plus some odd days pieces what's amazing is is that he had to pull he's one of these guys that works expert chefs a sometimes is on in the middle of the night and some days he you know he's got the regular type a shift in the city last week he had to pull two days so when you're not working if you're working split shifts it's really hard to go back and forth the people are working one shift like night time and you get sort of used to that but if you're working a split shifts where it's during the middle of the days one thing and then you have to do a couple of all nighters in your back to the regular and so forth it's really hard so he says that last week he had to pull to split shifts where he worked all night long he's never had more energy than he's had in the last couple of days he was able to get through those split shifts without any sort of issue is is get raped we're getting going right throw it worked his works right way through it and and never had more energy than when he was able to do it just now but that happens a lot we have a lot of truck drivers to do the program we have a lot of nurses that pull the shift how about our your doctor patience mean we have a good number of emergency room doctors that have to pull those shifts and actually have to be awake for what they're doing right on a daily basis. right. so where I was going with this you know control issue and feeling good about yourself and really you know gaining that confidence to go into the store and shop again is I really want to say congratulations to Wendy so her husband stop by the office to pick up. can you hear in saliva kit for her so that she could do it once she's done with the program so that we could see how her body has changed and see if she needs any supplements going forward or maybe not and he showed me her before and after it's actually already on our website her name is Wendy she went from a size eighteen to a size ten when I tell you the difference in how she looks I believe she also change the color of her hair which is basically what I did almost five years ago more than five years ago when I did this you know she is a different human being and I said that to him I was like you know everything about her is just completely different you know not even the physical there's something in her eyes that makes is making her feel and look like a completely different person right it's a sparkle right you know it's almost like when you find out you're pregnant and you were expecting that result and is really it is there something about that so it's a really great thing so congratulations to Wendy I actually don't even know how much weight she lost because it almost doesn't matter from you know from above to to have. as I like to say she shopping a different store he now you're going from an eighteen to a ten X. I sent your way to build with jeans there is no problem with the built in jeans and this is a very this is very important forever is going to be a very very important to Belgian show yet and won't listen I also have I was talking to one of our other patients Kevin who is down twenty two pounds in fourteen days which is amazing and two in fourteen days twenty two pounds in fourteen days and he's going to be down close to over fifty yeah we talk about him as one of the biggest. young guy to thirty eight years old you know that a lot of health issues that he really shouldn't have been having at thirty you know eight years old at this point you know some erectile dysfunction stuff already going on his wife you know wants another baby and you know they were having some issues and well basically I didn't really go into that with him in the waiting room but what he did say to me was that life is a lot better. a twenty two pounds down his. yeah he did so I I kind of left it at that which is well as we will now yeah and so yeah in forty days we typically seeing twenty five to thirty five pounds with women thirty five to forty five plus pounds with man and that's without shots Mormons the program.

Is Amazon making any money from Prime Day?

"Watch some in in London with this right now on Amazon prime day man John Farrow took me to task tide pods laundry detergent is usually thirty to fifty eight and they're giving it away to John for all right now for twenty two dollars seventy nine cents that's like you know thirty percent off thirty five percent how do they do that map block somewhere they make any money on Amazon prime day when John Farrell gets out the Bloomberg charge card yeah well may be known as much as they usually do but also I mean I think that's gonna be a mix of Amazon and the Browns and sells promoting the stuff I for me I think this these two days as it now is farmers and is much more about raising profile of the prime membership because there have been a whole bunch of studies that show that prime members spend way more on the platform the non prime members I think the last research I saw suggested was about fourteen hundred dollars a year on average for prime member compact about six hundred dollars for non prime members say the more people they can get state prime memberships is going to be better in the long term for business I think taking a beyond just the retail stuff when you've got this in the apple pushing into TV in the coming months you know it's kind of more important for the kind of broad a range of services they're offering to eat so Matthew I mean it's not just Amazon it seems like in a wal Mart's got a big sales day blitz target we know Ali Baba from China's got their singles day there's a lot of competition out there on the retail sales how does Amazon fairing yeah we can we can I think I think that they're doing pretty good mean I guess what yeah if you look at is in sales through the year Q. two isn't a big split it still key for whether you get that real big retell blip into Christmas I think this is kind of helpful for them from a kind of momentum perspective but it's not the be all and end all on us I think for them it's more about just kind of raising profile of the prime concept but overseas successful enough that you've had these big brown this Walmart and everybody else feel that they need to do something because that gonna suffer more pain from the success thousand jets if they don't do something so I think that's props more the sense of how the how much kind of retail foot full they kind of socket on these couple of days some of you I know it it's big here Amazon prime this big here in the U. S. gives a sense of what it's like in the UK and Europe so for sure you can yeah it's it's pretty big I mean you know over the weekend huge amount of advertising yeah on kind of radio print ready making people aware of these this couple days in the kind of office you can get I'd say let's let's say props on the continent just because you know Amazon on the whole kind of online shopping thing is is is a little bit behind as it as it often is on these things there were talking to Matt Miller in Berlin idea today and you know he didn't really get the sense of being a huge amount of promotion in Germany on this one so if official the U. K. as big a big deal let's say props on the continent but it's still important to their elasticity in raising the annual fee on prime I mean when the sell side or Bloomberg intelligence looks at what is it ninety nine dollars a year yeah I think you sound I think it might be a hundred twenty now okay so they can creep in it yeah right do we know where their limit is where the social women is on that price my answer is we don't have a clue I don't think we do I mean for so we don't actually know how many customers they've they've got on prominent I think lost it just pays a set the about a four hundred million globally so you know we don't have any talk the mystic modifications to me is still seems like amazingly good value now as a in the U. K. it costs seventy nine pounds for the year for which you get you

The OnePlus 7 Pro reveals a notch-free future (The 3:59, Ep. 561)

"The. Welcome to the three fifty nine. I'm Ben FOX Ruben. And I'm here with mobile senior reporter Charlotte Tipton jar thanks for being here. Thanks for having me shar was at the one plus launch event yesterday for the one plus seven pro it's new six hundred seventy dollar flagship device is the first phone coming to the US. That includes a pop-up camera for selfish instead of a notch or a whole punch or whatever to charming first question to you is what do you think of that change? Do you think that it's significant enough or it's worth it to have, you know, like just that full screen? What are your thoughts? You know? I think it could go either way I think for a lot of people having that full screen is is awesome. Oneplus? Did they told me hundreds of prototypes before they decided on the pop up camera because they were really trying to figure out what the best way to kind of have this full screen. They had pulled users and talk to people, and what everybody wanted was an immersive screen, and when you're using your phone, if you think about it, you're using the screen all the time, you're using that selfie camera. You know, infrequently. So for them. Like that Papa camera is all about the screen. You know, we've seen a lot of notches though. And I feel like at a certain point that you stop noticing that they're even the air. So I think it'll be interesting to see like after using something like this where there is. No, not if it makes it harder to go back to something with a notch like the iphone or. If you don't really notice it. Do you have a personal preference yourself between like a notch or a hole punch? I don't know how much time you got to spend with like the Samsung as ten. Yeah. I mean, I haven't I don't really personally have a big preference. I think it kind of depends on what you're doing with it. I don't watch a ton video on my phone a lot of people do and that's kind of one of the areas where it could be distracting if you're part of the videos cut out. You know, like for what I'm doing scrolling through Twitter and Instagram and things like that. It's not quite as big. Let's talk about like durability for a second here as far as like having a tiny element on the phone pop up pop down again, did they tell you far as like how durable? This is likely. It is that something like that could break off. Yeah. So they they did a lot of tests. They had kind of sent whenever a phone comes out. There's a ton of torture tests that it goes through and they created some special ones to test the camera so like for one they had a barrel, and they dropped the phone with the camera open into the barrel. I one hundred fifty times and then each time they dropped it. They spin it seventy five times, I believe, and then they had another one where they had basically box with Dustin it, and they like through the phone in it opened and closed. I think three hundred thousand times which is kind of the the bar for like this last five years is what they're saying. So they when they first working on this. They had a version that had kind of a smaller motor it took up less space. But it just wasn't strong enough. Or durable enough. So then they ended up having to go with a bigger motor which meant they essentially had to redesign the phone redesign everything on the phone to kind of deal with that. But that is what they really think is going to make this durable. And they showed a video during their vet of like, a forty nine pounds of cement being kind of hoisted, and what it was being held on was the camera module. Really? Yeah. I mean, and obviously that's a video. So it's not like we saw in real life to be like. Wow. Look that you know. But it's interesting. They really are trying to say, hey, this is durable. It's not going to pop off the first time you so that so I want to introduce apple little bit more into the conversation. And what do you think apple is going to do this year that could get people more excited or more interested in the iphone, maybe get them to buy it or upgraded more? Frequently the is there something on the horizon, particularly this year that you expect that that might generate a little bit more interest. I I don't know. It's kind of hard to say like the things this year that everybody's really excited about like foldable screens five G, those are not things that we're going to see from apple this year. Like, we're just not. So it is really kind of hard to figure out what it is that they are going to come out with that really gets people to upgrade in maybe more like a services bundle or things that that make you say I need the iphone because I want this. I want the apple card. I want the new TV service. I want whatever. It's going to work better on my iphone, hardware wise. I don't know what it is that they could do that really exciting. Or really interesting. That's kind of a bummer, but but it's still early. It's only may the phone there. There are obviously rumors all the time. There hasn't been anything. That's like really like earth shattering or yet. But it's still it's early. Anyway, if you want to read more about these stories, check them out on CNN on Ben FOX, Rueben Charlotte's have gained. "I mean, I read the stories I was horrified. This in far they're facing more than forty counts of animal cruelty. Yeah. I mean, crazy. These dogs were kept in just deplorable conditions. The reports were that these dogs were emaciated. They were kept in this basement. It was just covered in feces, and and one at least one of the dogs didn't make it. I don't know about all that you've taken in Floyd from this situation have been working with him. So tell us what is Floyd? What does he look like, and what is the ideal home? So Floyd is an exact fifty fifty pit bull American bulldog. Cross. He actually, you know, when his his breed, you know, the breeding and when he was bred it was not intentional. It was during one of the big hurricanes down there in Florida. And so it was just a fluke mistake breeding. So both the parents are known and their temperament, and they're actually I think the one dog is titled and all that stuff but Floyd is a Brindle dark Brown Brindle. He's got little white toes little white feet. And he's got a white little strip down his nose. He is about. Out. I think last we wait him. He's probably about forty nine pounds. Because he he really was nutrition. When I got him. I mean, he was a skeleton. I mean, if you guys look at those photos when I got him his legs were bent because he was stuck in a cat crate, and when those bones are growing, they bend they bend. So he went through a lot of PT a lot a lot of physical therapy. A lot of massage. He is a very affectionate dog. He loves rub downs. I mean, I take him to the dog trials with me. And he just wants anybody to touch him. He really is ideal. I would love to see him in kind of like a country setting. I mean what I think he really thrived with where he came from. There was no sunlight they were inside. He was in a crate those dogs and never saw the sun. So when he came to me at close to four months old he would just sit out and sit in the sun. I would just let him stay out there for hours on my porch. While I did book work I worked with other dogs. I mean, and I. Felt like an all his stressful time he was doing nothing, but catch up on sleep and son. So I would really love to see him thrive in a roll country environment. He loves his big yard. He you know, he loves running. He's a very active dog. We started a little bit of some former obedience so he'll come with a little bit of training on him. Just because like the age that he's coming to which time fern Richmond. And he's great with other dogs. Ideally, I feel like he's best with somebody that doesn't have another male dog because he's now very confident and necessarily he's around my male dogs all the time, but I don't allow contention. And if I can explain that, I don't allow my boys to check each other like ever. So what most people do is they allow too much of boys to pick on boys or girls to pick on girls. And so I would love to see him. I honestly would love to see him as an only pet not because he's not dogs is that I would love to see the speed the center of attention. Because I mean, I have five dogs. And so he's one of five on top of any other Klein dogs that I might have with me. So but believe me he goes with the punches he rose with it. He loves traveling like whether it's in the doggie bus is what we call it. Whether he's in the doggie bus with dogs. He's super quiet. He's a good traveler, or he's in my my Volkswagen sport wagon. I mean, he just sits in the back of the cargo area. Like, I like he was here the whole time. You know? I mean, there's not a place. I can't take him that he doesn't just walk right through like he owns it. He's got a great personality, gray personality. He sounds like he would be a great dog for someone. You're making me I might need to add to my pack. If you're interested in reading more about Floyd story, and I encourage you to do. So he's got just an incredible story. And he's I it just sounds like an amazing dog. He's a survivor, and that's what I call a Mayweather because he had to fight, you know. I mean, he was probably close to death. And I honestly think because the other sibling didn't survive, I really think he was it wasn't going to be that much longer before you know, it would have been different. So. Yeah. Thank you. No. Thank you. Not be I had a bunch of friends bulldog, your friends that we just started asking about this girl this Becky wolf, girl. Then I'd said I was like this girl has had dogs disappear or turn up dead in the past. And so more enough we started poking around, and we realized there was a pattern and so we did a surprise visit. And so it was really a shock to our whole bulldog community when everything got discovered, and then we had there were clients coming out of the woodwork of dogs. She was taking in for training that turned up dead or missing. That's why there's forty nine counts of animal abuse neglect. And there's more to it. It's not just story. Yeah. So I mean, I encourage everyone listening to take a moment and read the we're going to have the links up on this episodes Haege. Please read these stories, and and you know, it's just like everything else. I mean, if you see something say something if you are an animal lover, and you are concerned because a friend of you yours took a dog to a kennel and something. I haven't talked about it. I mean, there's no you shouldn't be bringing it to people's the authorities attention. I mean, that's what is saved flu poise wife, and we'll save thousands of other dogs lives. We all have to other. Yep. I just stepped up. I mean people I knew he was pulled from that situation. And I was like, you know, what this dog's gonna need a lot of help. And he was right. You know, he was down there at a friend's training facility. But I knew he wasn't he was getting interacted with and he was getting played with. But he wasn't getting the P T. You know, I have a lot of experience with a veterinary medicine stretching flex Asian like just getting legs, Drake. You know? He needed that extra care. So we're. Walk on stone. He didn't want her grants Herkus guy. Well, I'm and I'm so amazed. He really sounds like he's come a long way. And he's ready for his new adoptive home. So we are running out of time. I'm going to you know, I hope that like I said if you're.

Why You Don't Weigh the Same Everywhere on Earth

"Something fun. You don't wear the same everywhere on earth. Your mass stays consistent. No matter where you are. But you'd actually way less standing at the equator than you would at Opole today, you're going to learn about centrifugal and centripetal forces. So I can help you understand the gravity of this situation. Picture this imagine you're carrying a plastic bag filled with a few oranges. If you swing that bag over your head at the right speed and the shape of a circle the oranges will stay in the bag. If you swing it. Too fast, the oranges might bust out through the bottom of the bag and get flung halfway across the room. Congrats you just learn about centrifugal and centripetal forces centrifugal. This is what would cause the oranges to bust out of the bottom of the plastic bag. It's defined as the apparent force equal and opposite to the centripetal force that draws a rotating body away from the center of rotation caused by the inertia of the body centripetal force on the other hand is defined as the component of force acting on a body in Colonel in your motion that's directed toward the center of curvature or axis of rotation. That centripetal force is what makes the oranges want to keep looping around in a circle and these forces are why you weigh less standing at the equator than at a pole at the equator centripetal forces are acting on you as you spin around the center of the earth. This spinning keeps you from flying off into space at a pool that force isn't acting on you because you're not rotating. It's such an intense speed. Also at a poll, you're closer to the center of the earth since our planet isn't a perfect sphere. And that means that gravity is pulling you down just a tad more strength, but the effect it has on your way. Wait, isn't too extreme. You'd way about half a percent more at a poll than you would the equator. So if you weighed two hundred pounds at a poll, you'd way one hundred ninety nine pounds at the equator, which means that shedding that extra pound is just ten thousand kilometers away. How's that for a weight loss
