"So there's repea- cockpits limited contact with ads for ninety nine all the content with ads and then ninety nine no ads all right well peacock and i haven't been very good friends but anyway the point is Back back to this whole day and date thing and a well mostly about the the way the commercials are gonna work. I was saying pre show. That i don't like the idea of content that was constructed to not have natural commercial breaks are going to be super annoying in this in this way and i still feel that way about some of these max originals because some of those are also not formatted to have natural breaking points they occupied commercial. Tv they are. They are formatted for breaks. Some aren't though. I've seen stuff like i don't know i'm definitely like the. The flight attendant definitely like stopped down for a quick pause. Came right back. you'd almost not notice it. But i'm like that's where an outbreak will go for two reasons. One is they probably knew this was coming but also they want to be able to take those max originals and arum on tnt and turner which they announced they're going to do. They're going to take a bunch of those originals and arum on broadcast tv. So i think they all have them there. You just may not have noticed it. Maybe i didn't notice. Maybe that's to their credit like raised by wolves was one that i thought it didn't seem like it had very good bricks but anyway it is still a premium compared to other services and i think that's just kind of our expectation for hbo. You know they. I think they know that people pay for a premium cable. You know high end content sort of experience and they're probably right. I mean i'm already paying fifteen and probably will still so. Yeah i think that there are there. The people who say fifteen what. I mean peacock. Is you know four ninety nine for ads so nine ninety nine little psychological there but that makes a lot more sense and if you are used to ads pure subscribed to hulu for example and not the end of the world. I mean a lot of people do that with with podcasts as well with all sorts of content. It's like you you feel like you're saving a lot if you really want that content and you get the benefit of hbo. Original programming is exempt. And i don't know i. I know that the the conversation is always like we'll how much is too much you know at what point does. Hbo max or any of these services turn the consumer off well make the consumer turn them off by by keeping the price point just slightly too high and i don't think anyone totally knows what the sweet spot is. I know that disney plus is always. It's kind of the barometer. Because it's like well disney plus. This is doing pretty well. I know they've missed their numbers slightly in the last earnings report. But you know pretty pretty a great success out of the gate and obviously that has a lot to do with the content. That's unders loss but something like hbo can get away with a little bit more because of the cachet of hbo exclusive movies and really hot tv. Shows you can't find anywhere else. Yeah if you're out there saying like well. I would never pay nine ninety nine a month for something.

Amazon's Echo Buds: Time to Replace Your AirPods?
"Have dominated the market for wireless earbuds but the tech giant seen some more competition from companies like samsung and amazon and speaking of amazon. They just released the second generation of its wireless earbuds called echo buds. I spent about a week or so trying these out just to get a feel forum. It was one of those things where i was skeptical at first because i have never been a fan of the earbuds. That have the rubber tips on the end. I don't know why in it's always why i've gravitated airpods but after trying these out for about a week or so. I really like them. And i think they're very comfy. And i think if you're looking for an alternative airpods so the first thing you'll do is you open them up. You'll have the alexa app. If you don't have it already on your smartphone and from there it it'll pair to your phone and then it has some simple settings that you can adjust if he wants to. There's an equaliser if you wanna just the sound You commute your microphone. There's also the option to adjust different. Touch options on the echo. Buds themselves Then there is this really cool part of it which is called an ear tip fit test and basically the way it works. Is you have four different eartips sizes they range from extra small to large you two different kinds of wings and basically those just kind of tuck into your ear to make sure they fit. Okay once you get it all set up. Do this eartips fit test. And then it'll play audio just to see how well they fit. You might see fair good or great and it tells you how well the echo buds fit in your ear It took me a couple of times to get it down but once you get it down. It works pretty well. I really like how they sound. They have active noise cancellation which is a feature that are on the airpods pro which are much more expensive You can also add. Pass through a pastor option that basically allows some ambient noise to filter in as. You're listening to music. Listen to a phone call. I mentioned some of the touch features on the echo buds. You can do stuff. Like tap wants to stop a song or tap twice to skip. You can also modify those so if you wanna tap in hold to do other things like turn up the volume or if you want to mute. You can do that as well. You could buy. The echo buds with a wire charging case for one thousand nine hundred ninety nine or you can get them wirelessly for one thirty nine ninety nine. I'm

Disney+ Has Raised Its Prices
"Mike got noticed. Recently that the price of disney plus subscription is going up. That's right if you remember back in december. I know it seems like eons ago. Disney announced the plan to increase the monthly cost of the subscription. And i got that email a few days ago too. But the price would increase on march twenty sixth so disney plus alone will increase by one dollars going from six nine a month to seven ninety nine annual subscriptions will increase ten dollars from sixty nine nine to seventy nine nine thousand nine and if you get the disney plus hulu. Espn bundled like i do. It's increasing from twelve ninety nine monthly to thirteen ninety nine per month but the entertainment giant justified. The price increase based on its aggressive content. Plan if you remember back. In december when they announced the price increase they said gonna be developing ten new marvel series ten new star wars series and more than two dozen disney and pixar movies series and and then also be on that just recently disney announced more theatrical releases will come straight to the streaming service. The marvel film. Black widow starring scarlett johansson originally set to hit theaters. May seventh will. Now be out july ninth in theaters and simultaneously on disney plus like the films moulin live action mulan and ray and last dragon. You can watch them on the street service. "Okay so One plus announced the phones. This week they've been teasing these for a long time. I mean one plus the king of not spending a dollar on advertising and just using the power of their voice on the internet to To let you know about everything so the one nine series is the oneplus nine. The oneplus nine pro. You guys know that For for prices we have seven twenty nine starting price for the oneplus nine and then it tops out at eight twenty nine hundred bucks more That gets you eight gig ram and one hundred twenty gigs storage at seven twenty nine and then for another hundred bucks you could ask for more gig rams so twelve gram double the storage certificate six for the nine pro. Which is this guy starts at nine sixty nine. And that's also the eight gig one twenty eight gig combo and then this model i actually have is fully specked out so another hundred bucks which takes us over the thousand dollar price point to one thousand sixty nine twelve gig to fifty six storage. It's kind of what they've done for a couple years so it makes sense but we are at another increase the The eight pro last year started eight ninety nine and then topped out. I think right at ninety nine ninety nine I can't remember offhand with the eight price. Was the april five ninety nine. Six hundred ninety six ninety nine seven ninety nine have been six nine thousand nine hundred ninety nine. Yeah because we're up to seventy nine so kind of a thirty dollar increase in a seventy dollar look. They packed a lot of specs. And we'll get to that so anyway if you want the top of the line one plus nine pro we are whoa well over a thousand but were over thousand bucks now so were ridiculous as far as specs go you know oneplus. Didn't really hold back. They kind of gave us everything and everything you would expect from a modern phone. You know they they haven't done headphone jacks for awhile. And s d cards i. I don't know that they've ever really done those in there. Really cheap phone so i. I'm not gonna waste time complaining about those. But they added the newest of the new. Obviously the cameras going to be a big focus with the with the hassle blah partnership But like this nine pro has hd one hundred twenty hertz. tim's lower lesser of a phone much Ten eighty p but also still hundred twenty hertz. They both have staff in eight eighty eight. I talked about the ram and storage configurations On the camera this has a quad camera. Yours has triple camera. Believe so the big thing. There is the hospital vlade partnership so. This camera is the sony. I m x seven eight nine. Which most people doesn't mean anything. But it's just sort of the newest sony sensor. They said they they developed it in custom with with sony. And so you've got that. And then it has a fifty megapixel wide angle lens.

Googles Nest Hub wants to track your sleep
"So tell me about this newness hub. It is sort of at least on the outside. Kinda looks the same but there is some very different stuff. Happening underneath will start. The prices ninety nine ninety nine year round that up to two hundred bucks. The first gymnast tab was hundred twenty nine when it came out. So it's coming out of the gate a little bit cheaper than the first model which is always nice to see The there's tons of stuff under there. It's a little bit different. Yeah let's let's talk about that 'cause you you mention in your review or your announcement of the product that it's got a motion sensor and sleep tractor but the no cameras. So how does that work. Yeah so this. New smart display takes advantage of google solely technology. It's a miniature radar a low energy radar that instance movement would any cameras. They call it motion. Sensors and motion sense enable. Something called sleep sensing which is the big feature of the smart display its technology we saw i in the pixel four at league right. This was a project solely was there was a name. It and i guess that went away with the pixel five. But i guess they're retake reusing the sinology inputting into the nest hub. How does the sleep tracking worth and more portfolio up. Are you comfortable letting google track your sleep patterns. So it's an interesting question. Because i think what we'll get to the comfort chang in america that how it works is you will calibrate your smart display their assuming that. You're gonna put on your nightstand when i talked to google. They said that. Twenty percent of first generation nest hubs went on nightstands so they sort of hedge their bets on that and he'll put on your nightstand bobi calibration process that you do so that it will send just one person so if you have a co sleeper if you have pets or kids who come in and out it will sense just the person who sleeping closest the display so that radar will sense things like here movement your movement if you get in and out of bed or breathing but then they're also sensors for light end four temperature just like they had the last nest display to show you nice photos with that adaptive color start using that technology to monitor things like. Oh your bedroom got a little bit warm last night. And maybe that's why you didn't sleep so well so there's sort of a whole group of sensors in all that data is going to be local. You can see it in. Google fit apt. You'll get reports suggestions on how to possibly improve your sleep now. Are you comfortable. That's gonna depend on every person right. Some people wouldn't have even put the first in nineteen in their bedroom. Even with the camera. Even without asleep. Sensing just because like microphones and data. And i totally get that For me personally. Without a camera i'm Kind of okay with it. I'm willing to try it. You know willing to see how invasive the it feels. Yeah i imagine like you said it's it's gonna be it's gonna come down to individuals just their comfort level with google the management of their data. I know google acquired fit that Closer acquisition back in january a two point five billion dollar deal. The worse concerns about what google was used or how it was going to use that data and i know this sort of said that there'd be sort of a silent about portion of for fitbit. But do you know if there's going to be between whether this new s hubble work with your fitbit the too 'cause i know sleep tracking was also a big deal for it so we don't. We don't know for sure there have been hints on. Google has been pretty tight lipped about what's going to happen. Astor this preview window of sleep sensing oversleep syncing is available as a free preview and they say until the end of the year after that day are pretty pretty strongly hinting. It's gonna be a paid subscription feature They haven't said specifically how that's gonna go. They said things like we are looking for ways to integrate in. They said things like we are looking for ways to integrate fitbit technology with our google devices. There's been some very vague talk around it so we're not sure how it's gonna go. I do expect it eventually in probably next year you will need to pay some sort of subscription for sleep sensing an that it will probably somehow be tied in with it but google did pitch this whole display to me as a way to track your sleep without any wearables so they don't seem to really wanna tied in with a wearable interesting in the idea that it would actually charge. It's very anti google. Google is all about giving you free services right but Perhaps because there may be more cognizant of the data and you are likely trying to avoid using this for advertising research purposes. Maybe they're trying to figure out a different way to monetize it Some cases in some ways. That actually kinda i find that a little bit a take that as a bit of a relief because if they're charging me for this probably means they're not using the data for other means or other ways to you know. Send me targeted ads. I don't know it'll be interesting to see what happens. After this free preview trade ends up or ends. Yeah they did. They did mention that there will be no none of your data will be used for personalized ads. So you won't get I won't say a brand that you will get like mattress suggestions. Based on your sleep sensing so. That's

Pass bullshit you know get experience and and every level you get this every level you get this i. I don't know come up with something else. Come up with something unique. If you can't come up the something unique or different than it's fine. I guess that you have a season pass in place. And i can get the skins that i wanna get in one way or another. Because that's all. I care about an overwatch more than anything else. Like jared hates carrot on sticks. I just know it's not necessarily cared on sticks it just like i love carrot on hands on depends on how how it's implemented man like i just don't i don't i don't like the Loobox thing is gross to me Jor because there's data that supports that it is a gross practice that shouldn't exist in video games in my opinion And then you know Th the next worst thing is a season pass which it's a little bit better because you take like the randomness out of it But but really if you are playing a game. That's the only game you play. Then maybe it's okay And maybe you're going to get your money's worth but also like then they have you they have you at that point that that that consumer is exactly what these gaming companies want they want the consumer. That doesn't play any other video games because they can't if they want to get everything in a given season. I just don't think the best way to handle something. Spotify Wants To Sell You CD-Quality Music
"I'm happy to be in your earbuds because today we have a story about sound right now. You're listening to a podcast which means the audio you're hearing has been digitally compressed. The highest highs and the lowest lows of the range of sound. You're hearing have brought closer together. Compression generally make sound a little easier on the ears. Well one company. That deals heavily in sound says compressed audio is so out spotify announced last week that it would be adding an additional service to its music subscriptions lossless audio as in sound in its purest form not compressed which means music has more depth and clarity. If you're struggling to imagine what that sounds like just think back to a bygone era remember cds because they're not usually compressed cds deliver lossless audio naturally and spotify. Says it wants to return to that without you. Know making cds thing again spotify. Hi fi will be available to subscribers in select markets later this year. It'll cost more than the nine ninety nine per month users currently pay although spotify hasn't said how much more they say hi fi will let the most discerning listeners. Experienced the music the way artists intended it. The company is just the latest hop on the lossless audio train or i should say track in two thousand. Nineteen amazon rolled out amazon music. Hd for fifteen bucks a month or a little less for prime members and streaming service title offers lossless audio for twenty dollars a month reports the verge but neither rival comes close to spotify's user numbers spotify counts around one hundred fifty five million paid subscribers worldwide while amazon music. Expect to hit forty million this year and it's estimated that title only has around five million subscribers spotify says its users have been asking for higher quality audio so now that it has it it may spell trouble for spotify's smaller competitors but one big name is notably absent from the list of lossless audio providers. And that would be apple music apple. Subscriber numbers are inching up. They hit a little over seventy million subscribers last year and with roughly the same number of songs available as spotify. It would figure that spotify would wanna keep apple at arm's length hence spotify move towards something. Apple does not have and is reportedly not planning to have a paid tier for lossless music apple and spotify have been dealing for a few years in another space. Which you may be familiar with if you're listening to this right now. yes podcasts. While the term more than a decade ago a mix of its ipod and the word broadcast spotify is looking to be the latest dominant force in podcasting unclear at times exactly which companies doing more in the field. Some reports put apple on top in terms of podcast downloads and revenue others put spotify on top either way each companies looking for ways to edge away from the other when it comes to podcasting and for apple that means toying with the idea of a paid subscription service for its podcast library which has always been offered for free bloomberg reported the plans in january and says apple is also aiming to ramp up its creation of original podcasts spotify. The company says the marketplace will allow creators to earn more for their work while delivering a greater impact for advertisers unquote. Podcast wars aside a lossless music tier four spotify seems to be the latest attempt to get the edge on apple for apple though lossless. Music doesn't seem to be on the horizon at least publicly. In fact apple enthusiasts media outlet apple insider said last week that during blind tests twenty fifteen listeners couldn't seem to discern lossless audio from compressed audio being played on an iphone that might mean lossless music might only be a boon for the most discerning listener. "I sure would love it. Well yes and no harry actually. Usb is a wired standard of course. so there's no such thing as a usb only wireless speaker but there are usb dangles. Can we say that on the radio. He's okay usb dongo's that gives you access to different kinds of radiofrequency enabled usb speakers now. These days bluetooth is the easiest and cheapest to buy but there are a range of other technologies from wi fi to plane fm frequencies and you can often find usb connectors for those speakers now. If you really want to just plug in transmitter with no cable you really can't beat bluetooth for range of choices and ease of use but if you want to avoid bluetooth altogether we've got some options for you there too and other two reasons to consider bluetooth as the delivery method. If you're not totally against it. I it's the most widespread standard for this and that means that pretty much every brand you know is using it and not using the rest also because there's a bluetooth audio delivery standard. You don't have to get a usb drive. That will need to act as a sound card or interface with your sound card in a way that is going to require some suffer manipulation usually. They're just a few hoops to jump through. Unless you're using the port only to power the transmitter. Now there is a catch though. Because if you're using the port just to power the transmitter then you need the audio cable plugged into it to get the audio signal. And that's really the set you already have. Yeah so you're not really improving anything at that point harry but i i hope we've shed some light for you but the point being is that you do have some options. It's just that they might be a little more limited than you'd like and that stuff kind of happens. What can i say. Steve in lakeshore ontario listens to the free. Mind you into tomorrow. Podcast you can subscribe into tomorrow dot com by the way and to our free once a week tech newsletter. You can as well as into tomorrow dot com and my gosh to top it all off calling in using the free into tomorrow app. We love you steve. Welcome hi chris. David cameron dave. Please hang in there until cameron takes over as it sounds like. That's not too far away. I wonder if you could comment on the best method to keep remote offices documents in sync. Personally i am thinking about dropbox one drive our q. Nap cloud capable drive. But i'll do my best to hang in there until cameron can take over. It's going to be awhile though. I don't know if we gotta get past child labor laws. Yeah exactly well but he. He's an entertainment so children can be entertainment and it's only three hours a week of work so i'm sure we work at a three hour show. It's not really three hours of work a week. Well fulltime job. That's if it were only three hours. I wouldn't worry about retiring one day. But steve the best method will depend on what office software you use to get back to your question. But it usually boils down to use the cloud that most compatible with the software that you're using microsoft google and apple all offer built in cloud storage for their various office applications. If you want to avoid them or double up you can look into options like and dropbox and these days. You'll find that for the most part collaboration and sinking are built into the product. Already and you just need to save and pretty much. Forget about it. Keeping a local copy is probably a good idea. But there's no need to open up your network to the world to be able to access a network drive when you can just access someone else's cloud and let them worry about the vulnerabilities insecurity. Yeah exactly because so far for the most part so good with the various cloud storage services. You don't generally here too many problems about somebody hacking into their cloud and getting your information and and while things can happen. It's very rare so that should be not a major concern for you. Yeah anything you're storing on the cloud especially if you're going to have any kind of personal information on there if they have two factor authentication. We've talked about before us that because i also makes it even harder for somebody to access that that information nefariously yeah and two factor authentication can make a huge difference in you feeling comfortable with wherever your data resides andy. In raleigh north carolina listens on. Newsradio six eighty. Wpf and we love you. Ford andy calling in using the free into tomorrow app. What are the strengths of each of the major web conferencing platforms microsoft teams webex zoom google. Meet skype thank you dave. Well thank you. Andy for the. It's a very good question. Actually the core functionality basically is the same audio video usually a dial in number for the person that wants to sound like. They're calling from the engine room of a ton of the century. Steam powered ship screen sharing and some recording capability usually also with cloud storage. They each offer small enhancements over that in some ways. Zoom transcribes meetings. So you can kind of guess what would set from the less than stellar transcription. Microsoft teams focuses on easy collaboration on office. Docs google meet of course gets shoved in your face by google at every possible moment but we can call that That it integrates with the google ecosystem mainly by annoying you but it doesn't adequate job. Webex seems to be mostly relegated to big slow moving corporate. That haven't moved away from it yet. Skype of course largely abandoned when the interface changed and it became very heavy and cumbersome to use of among the ones you mentioned there's some ideas yeah really though the only thing that sets them apart in any truly significant way. Is that whatever company you work for. Got a good book deal and decided to go with that one So you use them instead of the others. They're all pretty much interchangeable and we've never heard anyone say oh this isn't exit doesn't have feature why they basically will have the same features We've got some research help on this from on our team. Who says that he uses zoom for calls with clients. Webex 'cause organized buy a particular client. Well thank you h because that is important input as well not only for andy but other people listening because some folks say all right. Well it's up to me. Somebody said organiz video meeting of some sort it. What why us. We also go to zoom for nine ninety nine percent of our stuff. I have used others when it was another client inviting us in or something of that sort but otherwise zoom does the job for us. You get believe it's forty or forty five minutes free so if you have a meeting that runs longer than that a you shouldn't be. You'd have to pay if you want longer time. But if it's just that you want to connect with some people for a little bit here and there up to half an hour forty minutes or so. Zoom can do the job for you but right about skype to. There's just. I don't know anybody using skype anymore. Yeah and just in before us any services just remind most of these people that allow these meetings can spin. Email probably should just be an email. "And i can also use this camera for the for the the ring light with the camera but at the end of the day. I don't need that many seed like i'm turning it on and can you even tell the difference. So that's how much of a difference then bigger light that one is currently available. Eighty nine ninety nine amazon. So it's not super expensive and it's actually more expensive than this microphone which is currently sixty four ninety nine if you want to check either one of those out but what equipment do we need here. Once again is my recommendation when it comes to doing a livestream to do an podcast to do anything when you first start. Make it as easy as possible period. the end. don't over engineer now. Here's the thing. When i set up this microphone right here when i set up the new light that takes work. You gotta put together. You've got to think about it. You gotta see what you wanna do. And you don't always have the time what's much more important is to actually get started. You know try. Livestreaming use a tool like we street. In which is what i use Re stream that. I owe forward slash join. Such trap gets fifty percent off on the the standard plan and basically Just start you can do with your webcam on your computer. You don't have to over think it. I'd rather have people try things versus not trying them when you first start and then once you get into it. Get different equipment. Try different things. So for example. If you're waiting for equipment it's an excuse. I hate to tell you but it it is an excuse. Oh i can't do it. I have a microphone guys. Microphone for some reason stuff working. I don't know if maybe it's not plugged in or get unplugged. While i was moving things around. I just plugged in my headphones. And i'm still. I'm still livestreaming i'm still. I'm still recording the podcast. Podcast might need a little bit of work now because you know we lost a connection for a while but at the end of the day. I'm not waiting for the equipment. I ordered that the light. I ordered it. I don't know one day from the time it arrived to the time from the time. In order to the time it arrived i was i was recording. I was live. i wasn't waiting for it. It's not an excuse stopped excuses. Go live record. Your podcast started and then by the equipment as you go. Some people call that a face to face approach. I am a big fan of faced approaches faced functionalities etc. So worth trying honestly plus. There's so much to think about anyways when you first school life. You don't want to think about what buttons to push. You just want to life and you wanna talk so for example in that latest article on authentic storytelling dot net. I actually talk about How do you make sure you even live. And one of the things. I mentioned is minimize the tasks or find a friend or a coworker who can potentially produce it for you so they can do all this other stuff so what i just said..

"Game out. I can't imagine how happy they beep but they definitely aren't now with all the legal action waiting lamb. Well not only to fuck. They have to get sued. I really wish that falls out and blatantly. Obvious it's one. It's fucking snake. Oil salesmen wanted to advertisement. But did you see that. The price for the game dropping everywhere. Oh no i went down to. I think it's like thirty nine ninety nine twenty nine ninety nine in some places yet the game. The game's gettin like really big price cuts for fucking new game. Yes they know what it should show some idiots can by jumping. Did you see the did you see the developers. The actually management video all the management video. We got there from the from the co-ceo of cd project red. He basically came out and he wants to pretend to be transparent and make a public apology after the legal action taking place of course remind of course so he was like you know We really thought we could pull it together. You know And our testing showed no issues that were Found in the last gen Version of the games you know. Oh sure blame the testers and so like there's no way professional testers didn't notice these very blatant bugs. That happen very often and almost immediately once you start the game and a thing about video game testing to a lot of people seem to think it's really powders job because like sit around and video games all day. It's a job it's work. You're not because we play the quote unquote finish video game. We played a finnish title. We have fun with that. We pay to play. They get paid to play because they don't play the finish game. They play the early early early versions of these games. Where you're looking at like a square jump over fucking circle and you've got to figure out what the fuck is going on. So yeah no i. It's a job and the throw again. These these employees these workers under the bus is fucking disgusting and it's they're not having fun with it. They're going in intentionally trying to break the game like the not playing the game like normal you now and then toward the end of the video. He deliberately left out the port where they didn't show the last year they didn't let people you know who reviewed it showed a last gen footage. They had to use pre rendered video. Yeah i remember. I remember the gen review is talking about that and then they still. They said so. Wait the review. They mention that. And then they put out the the reduction review with all the The last gen footage and they're like games unplayable unless gen but it's still a four out of ten. It's like what that if its playable. Don't give it a fucking for idiots. Should be zero. Yeah i do not play as it. St john's header on their opinion pieces and use honestly. Yeah that that's just deliberately shows that he is guilty and he knows it. Yeah that's why he didn't even mention it yet.

Samsung introduces the Galaxy S21
"Samsung just released all the details about its new galaxy s twenty one smartphones and. I know you've been pink. Close attention to him. Give us all the details. Yeah this is. This is my first time to dive into a full samsung smartphone launch. You know in the past our colleague jeff. Graham often Would get involved in that more so you have to bear with me. I may not be on top of it as much as he would be. But i can tell you one thing. Samsung is is really trying to challenge apple in smartphone. Supremacy here in the us and actually at the end of last year like in the third quarter. Samsung nudged ahead of apple as the selling smartphones in the us. So this is ongoing battle. one thing that's going to help Samsung this time around is across the board. The s one smart galaxy s twenty one smartphones at two hundred dollars lower than the s twenty models released last year so the entry level model starts at seven ninety nine and that's the twenty one than the twenty one plus nine ninety nine. It's slightly larger. And then he s twenty one ultra is one thousand one hundred ninety nine. That's where it starts and it's got a super camera that will. I'm sure we're going to touch on here And it's six point. Eight inches the The twenty-one pluses six point seven and the s. twenty one is six point two. So historically samsung's made these great looking devices and displays look are fantastic. But i haven't seen these in person yet. So i've watched them on the presentations online. And i've seen what some of the folks there are. Some reporters are in reviewers at the have models that are starting to talk about their experiences. But there's some really interesting features here. And i think the really tying into the fact that people love cameras and they wanna be able to take more types of photos and video clips. You know because we're so many apps use clips now and they have this single take feature which carries over from the last year's model which you just use a single tap and grabs a sequence and then you can decide whether you want to use still or a slow motion video or some other type of clip. There's also this. Cool eight k video sequence you can shoot a single frame from. That's easy for me to say at the end of the week and that's really going to be helpful with like shooting moving subjects like babies and kids animals. You know because they don't you say pose and of course they don't listen to anything you're saying but if you catch like two or three or four second clip you're going to get the smile and everything in there right so People that love take footer to the kids and dogs kinda like that. There's another feature called directors view which lets you see what you're shooting from different angles and you can change lens during the recording. And then there's of lager mode so you could actually shoot yourself And shoot outwards. Unboxing video for instance you like. You're opening up playstation five or whatever you know you could you could shoot that. So one of my sources that i talked to after the launch basically says it's a movie camera in your pocket and that's samsung is trying to really establish itself. You know as the top camera smartphone. i guess it's interesting too. Because if you look at the entry level s twenty one it's the same price as the iphone. Twelve But you get the extra camera it. There's two camps to rear cameras on the iphone twelve when front camera and then for the s twenty one get four so it's basically three on the back one in the front Not to mention the other interesting. Partout is I think you get more storage on the entry level s twenty one as well you get one twenty eight versus sixty four on the iphone twelve And then also the twenty one plus you get a bigger screen so you get kind of a a a a significant bump up in screen compared to i think the closest rival to the iphone twelve of the pro So that stuff's interesting. The one thing that is bugging me though is there are five cameras on the s. Twenty one alterra. There are four cameras on the back of the phone. And there's one in the front. At what point is this phone at. What point are smartphones. Going to start looking like the face of a spider where you have like eight camera lenses on the back of the phone. And there's all this different stuff i i get. You want to take great pictures. But i'm also. I don't think we need twenty different camera. Lenses on the back of your phone to achieve a high quality picture. I mean do we really. I think that's what's going to happen. Is this model. Lineup will probably not this model because only the just the model the twenty one. The only one that has this. I think the uptick on it will kind of dictate what they do going forward. You know A telephoto lens that has this basically like two cameras built into one in a way is is going to be used a lot and tested a lot by a lot of people and we're gonna find out if it becomes something people really want and use. It's gonna stay. I think if if they go ma'am you know and then again there may be a new solution for that down the road For shooting that. I'm not a camera expert. I'm going to learn more about it. but Definitely we're gonna have smartphone battles for the foreseeable future

Someone waiting is that don't be afraid of networking you know because see s or not. Yeah the amount of it is not the same as every year every year. You get five six thousand visitors. This year is probably less than two thousand. And i know why because all digital but but take advantage you know all the stars right now that are doing the show if you guys are listening take advantage because you guys have the same platform as the big companies and so you gotta take advantage of. The Anti-Black-Friday Gift Guide for Photographers
"Over the next several days. You're going to hear the bef term many many times even after the actual day has passed. The truth of the matter is that you'll be able to get decent deals on just about anything you set your sights on. So let's focus on quality gear with lots of appeal. I hope you enjoy these gift ideas. So i've been working on this list for a while and this is stuff that i just lifted from catalog pages or other articles or things like this. I have worked with this gear with the exception of just one item. And i want to get that one item but everything else has been thoroughly tested in highly recommended and this is fun stuff. I have things that start at ten dollars here and go all the way up to three hundred and fifty dollars. I'm going to start out with the think. Tank photo lens case duel and both the fifteen and the thirty green yes. The green models are the ones that are on sale. You can get the fifteen for nineteen dollars a dollar savings and the thirty for twenty hours. That's also an eight dollar savings. I like the thirty because it holds some of my olympics lenses such as seventeen millimeter f one two and those quite. But i love these guys i really do. And it's funny. When i was looking at the ratings on them i think they were around three point. Five out of five something like that and i thought wow. That's kinda low for these things. So i i'm not sure what other people like or don't like about them. Here's what i like about these first of all. They're not oversize like some of the lens cases that i have there too big. They add to much dimension to my camera bag or backpack wherever they have the end. These don't do that. They protect the lenses but there are a nice size and they work really well. Now the idea is that you can open these things from the top and they open up like a know like a can or you can have the zipper down the side and open them up. That way i tend to work with them from the top. Only you know they're. They're really nice like that. They're made out of water resistant. Nylon so they keep moisture away they have these little stretchy front pockets. That are really cute and they can hold lens caps or memory cards. They work i. I have four of them and i wish i had more. This is the best price that i've seen on them. Now they have green and black. The black ones you have to pay full price for i like the greens. Because they're easy to find in my camera bag or my backpack. So that's the think tank photo lens dul either the fifteen or the thirty now as you may imagine. I have the links to all of these things. I'm gonna talk about here in the show notes so just come to the show. Stop shopping for all these goodies. You don't have to search for them. Find the deal all that kind of stuff at the digital story dot com okay. Let's go to the second one now. I reviewed this recently. So you may be familiar with it. As it has usb c on one end and usb a on the other end so no matter which device you happen to be using you just plug it in and it works and so you this carry one flash drive around you. Don't have to worry about adapters. Have to worry about docks. You don't have to worry about any of that stuff. It's ten dollars. Talking Tech
Preview: new Microsoft and Sony video game consoles
"Com slash talking. One of the most eagerly anticipated tech items of the year. Are those new video game. Console from sony and microsoft are brett. Molina has been playing games all week ignoring his normal work. Brett tell everybody about the microsoft xbox and the playstation five. let's start the xbox instead launched on tuesday It's interesting because it upgrading to the xbox series x or the series kind of feels like you're upgrading a smartphone Because unlike other of consoles where you're kind of almost start over with brand new games and everything else A lot of almost everything from your last console comes with you so you bring a lot of your old games. You bring a lot of apps you're gonna bring A lot of the other settings of things that that you liked about the last one and it all carries with the next one Your older games will look a little bit better. They're going to load a lot faster. Which is a huge perk of of new xbox playstation So it it really is interesting to see how a lot of your older stuff. Who's over playstation. Five does a lot of that too Playstation five the xbox five sells for how much the xbox the there's the series x which is digital only in its to ninety nine ninety nine and the big difference there is. It doesn't have a blu ray disc drive a so all the games anything he used on. There's going to be digital or you can get the xbox series x says a faster processor and a blu ray disc drive and that goes for four ninety nine nine hundred accepted it sold out and you can't buy it yet. Good luck okay. And the playstation five is the same price playstation five saint concept they have a digital version. That has no blu ray for three ninety nine ninety nine and then they have the standard one for four ninety nine ninety nine preview the playstation then. I'll ask you some questions about it. So it has a lot of the same stuff that the xbox does as far as everything lows lot faster most of your older games from the playstation four are available the biggest difference. I think one of the game changers of the playstation is it's controller called dual sense. It looks just like a regular video game controller. It has these really cool vibration Feature were basically you feel the game. It's happening you might be walking on snow and the controller mimics what it feels like to step in snow with each step You might be skating on ice. Same effect preach any most of the effects that happen in the game. You're feeling in the controller. So it gives. I think another layer of immersion that we haven't really seen a bit. We haven't really seen a lot of video games okay. playstation is also sold out. Apparently even the retailers will be advertising it and telling people to go to their website. So what do you tell those moms and dads out there who want to buy one of these games. Their kids consoles should say yeah well for sony. They announced that they are going to only allow you to buy it online. So really the best thing to do is keep track of like the big retailers that sell playstation on like a target or best buy amazon and just keep tabs on when they get new inventory again in the same thing with xbox the big difference with xbox is they have they are allowing some sales at physical store so there is a chance if you go to a store. You might find one really. It's about staying on top of Online and checking the different apps and different stores and just seeing what's available A lot of those preorder sold really fast. The second became available so it is going to be challenging to find one this holiday if you haven't preordered yak and if somebody was to say to you hey brett. Which one should i get xbox or playstation how would you answer. Oh my gosh i'm leaning playstation because i really liked what they've done with the controller there. I think there is a lot of possibility as far as what you can do to feel the experience
