"This is what I deal with all the time. Rohan just taking over and being the minister of chaos here. Okay, so email from rob, who writes hi, Michael Rohan and Chris. I am pretty confident barring a terrible season ending injury that the top ten teams in each conference as they currently stand are making the playoffs or play in tournament. So from there, can you see any of the raptors pacers, pistons, magic, kings, thunder spurs, pelicans, or rockets, making the playoffs? If so, who? Also, I know it is early, but which of these teams would you be most excited to see get the number one pick in the next draft and why? Love the podcast, cheers for reading this question, rob Bowie in Australia. In rob's original email, I just want to say, he had the Cavaliers here. Cavaliers are technically in tenth right now, so the sixers are in 11th place. And so I suppose that they kind of qualify for the parameters of this question, but I personally I personally wrote on only have two teams here. This is 7 seconds. So for me, it's the pacers and the raptors. I don't know if you know none of the teams in the west. The west playoff picture is set. Although, I mean, we got breaking news in the pie, but Michael Porter junior's we have for the rest of the year. I don't know if you just saw this. Uh oh, Mike did not. So the nuggets might be endangered now. We're going to have to quickly we got to talk about this for like, this is not obviously this is breaking news. But we got to react to this. Can I tell you my instant instant reaction? You may, yes. I think they got to consider a tank. I hate to say it. They have the MVP, but I think they got to consider it. So this is something that we spoke about in a recent episode of open floor Chris and I and we talked about whether or not the nuggets based on other injuries should slide back in a different direction. And when you say tank, what does that mean to you? Does that mean benching Nikola Jokić? This is where it gets tricky, but here's I think they should really consider a serious load management for jokic for the rest of the season. Here's the thing with jokic, he came out of that bubble and he played in every single game. Now he's dealing with a few injuries this year..
Maxey, 76ers beat Nuggets 103-89 to snap 5-game skid

"On the field. In in the euros. And, um I don't think it's hyperbole to say it feels certainly like a miracle that he is alive. We'll talk about that later in the program. It reminds me of Chris Bosh story. An interaction with him that just To me at the moment, I thought, what an incredible guy And I didn't know that that talk as he walked out of an arena in Toronto was the last time we never played professional basketball. We'll hit that later in the show. Nikola Jokic. The M V P Ejected. From what turned out to be the Nuggets final game of the year. Now I've seen it on replay missed the actual moment because my kids wanted to while Daddy was making very quickly making them food throw on the What is it? The Westminster dog? I don't know what it is. I just know what Savi one and they were rooting for that dog. But they did do it somewhere else. But anyway well, Candy Hokage. Later in the show by yourself, Paul George. Some of you have asked me to do it. MIA culpa on but the mayor Copper a love letter to Chris Paul. It would be a very complicated love letter. We did a little that last week, but we'll give them a little shine. At some point, Russell Wilson feels like the would be ex girlfriend or boyfriend. Who's got some false threats for you will hit all that stuff, and we have a brand new producer on the show. Has made it really easy for those of you. To know and remember who he is because he basically has the same name as the last guy. This Tom is Tom de Salis. Tino. He is excellent, incredibly talented. We're very lucky to have him. Um, if it I hope you do you listen to taking and tyranny Excellent Show here on CBS Sports Radio CBS Sports Network. He worked on that program. For a very long time. Always want to hear from you on Twitter Sports Writer Sports R E i T R But the reality is that in most of things I talk about As well. This is a braggadocio Monday. We just skip to it. Usually it's Friday. I'm right and most of things that I say. Because I do a lot of reporting to go with the radio show. Am one of the reasons as we like to remind you at the start of the program that I'm comfortable admitting when I'm wrong beyond the fact I think it's important is it just doesn't happen as often as one might think when you have to fill a lot of radio. And that's not because I'm some kind of sagacious. Would be sports psychic. It's because years of being a reporter at newspapers and websites Has taught me to call people and to talk to them. Do the legwork that there are folks in the NFL in Major League baseball in the U. S. C in the NBA who know what the hell they're talking about. And as much as it is nice when we are writer than you or writer than the other folks you listen to or writer than we otherwise could be. When the Sun's turn out to be a top four team looking at U. C. M M IQ or the Atlanta Hawks actually do avoid the playing. I'm looking and seeing me and Mick again. I love Sammy or whatever the case, Maybe it feels good. Don't like being right today. Don't like being right today. Because I told you and I've been telling you for six or seven weeks whenever it was that I talked to this the long and oft quoted general manager on this show. First plugged me into the Fear that executives had around the NBA that kept them up at night that every team and almost Was that every star but a multitude of stars across the league. We're taking time bombs of injuries in a way that this GM told me they'd never seen in NBA history. Result of covid the unique realities having to play and operate under it. A condensed offseason condensed regular season last year's shenanigans as it relates to the scheduling, and I I told you last week That the Nets in particular Even beyond the James Harden hamstring injury that has him out seemed ripe. For this kind of disaster. Carry every doesn't have a history of staying healthy in the postseason. Kevin Durant certainly has a history of getting injured, and I'm here to tell you that I was right, and I hate everything about it. I don't want the Brooklyn Nets to win an NBA championship. That one I really felt like I was going to get wrong. I had already started to prepare the, uh I screwed up. Take In the back of my mind. I knew that there was a real likelihood that someone that remained as Two of those big three. We're going to go down to injury, not because I wanted Not because it's guaranteed but because the confidence with which general managers believe it's going to shape the post season even going forward and the reality pre covid of those two guys cover your opening. Kevin Durant. Just made it feel inevitable. And when Kyrie Irving jumped into the air, landed on the honest his foot in that game four and and brutally twisted his ankle. It just felt like the continuation of an NBA season that's been defined by injury. It's not going to be the best team in the NBA. In its entirety. At least the wins an NBA championship peg is not going to be It ain't gonna be the Nets. It ain't gonna be the Lakers. It's going to be the healthiest deep. Started this these this postseason, the Nets were the betting favorites..

"And every time I watch, dog, No, I can't help but think of Derrick Rose in the transformation. Oh me, you know? Yeah, why they actually right there were both freak freak Outlets? Probably. They might have been wanting one B at some point in the NBA athletically and now they've both completely reinvented themselves. I'm now driving it to you. Think can't don't think? I don't think about Blake Griffin every time. I mean seriously like people that watch him now you know, young kids that are twelve. Thirteen years old. If you told them, you know, five years ago, here's the tape of this guy. Yeah. What he could do Thursday. But I have always loved Blake. I remember I think I saw blade before just about anybody. He went up in an 80 tournament against his team to beat. Oh yeah. And I remind Blake to this day ashamed to be head-butted him. He was in a back, Jim in Houston, Texas at Kingwood classic and they went up and they were both like big time players at the time and man, did they go at it like seem to log Was at that point. He was a monster. He was a complete monster and eventually went number two, flamed out, but I remind Blake all the time. I'm like seem to be kicked your ass and he just laughs so you didn't kick his ass, but it gave my head, but that's funny. All right, we got you. Clippers. Oh yeah, Utah Clippers. We've been most, I don't know. I feel like this is the one that has a chance to give or seven out of all of them. No, the Clippers be mean anything, you know, when they play are and and you can't, then they Stoke, don't stink bombs. Like nobody can throw in stink bombs like they, they can and call George specifically. He was out it again. You have day for, for whatever the hell 18 can't have, they can't win if that's happening, we can't Donovan. Mitchell has been spectacular, but that thirty three points after halftime, after he was sick. I mean now he's kind of a guy here is Brewster Academy Donovan Mitchell? I knew some one of those good. Guess, I'll take. Okay, people have to wage. I, I still freaked out about that because it's it's up there on the lake and Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, beautiful are funded, Madding crowds. Let me tell you. And yet every college coach east of the Rockies, game knows how to get there to have to Jason Smith's done a great job there they have two numbers. Anyway, the Clippers their fans must go. They go through more dead. You know anxiety more, yeah, more fluctuations of emotions than any set of fans on any team in North America on my opinion. Very true. All right. So, let's, let's turn our attention a little bit. I want to know your thoughts on all of these guys. Lately Anthony Davis, James Harden, life force their way out. They sign these deals and then they basically are saying through their agent of threw themselves. I'm done. I'm done. I'm not happy here. He did it New Orleans. Hardened did it in Houston and enforcing these seems to to trade them. I think we're going to see this. The reason why I'm asking I think we're going to see this with somebody inevitably. There's going to be a star every offseason does this. I don't know if it's going to be Dame Lillard who's got a few more left years left on his deal like a hefty. Hefty deal it exceeds fifty million. At some point, could we see it with Bradley Beal in washing Did. I don't know? But first of all Bob like what do you think?.

"In terms of European a middle European. Big men back when he came to the NBA and in this good years with Portland Arbutus a bonus was a certain player. And people that seen him when he was young when he was before hey the Box Corvettes of vodka that he has said that he can ingesting a life and and be the the injuries. You know that the young sabonis it was and it was the way they all described them Bill Walton with a 3-pointer. Well, guess what is dead? Nikola jokic. Yeah, Bill Walton with a 3-pointer, he's here folks. We have Bill Walton with a 3-pointer, this said, the closest thing to Walton is a pastor that we have seen offer Center position. And oh, by the way, he could face up ahead of three, he was the player. See, I have a problem with valuable so what sport that gets into semantics valuable wage? If you took about away from that team, where would they be? Well, you could say that about a lot a lot of T's and the point is some teams survive better because of the Best Supporting Cast, you're not, you're not the GM. You know, you're the player if they got a team that can make up for your loss better than you know I'm saying something stupid argument. Yeah. Because here right. Right. And again other guys are I don't want to AJ Held back but but they kind of are like a couple of years ago when you had Kyrie and Gordon Hayward Hayward got hurt. That allowed Jayson Tatum and Jaylen brown two floors. They had no choice when those two got hurt, if they hadn't gotten hurt, who knows how much longer it would have taken for Tatum or Jaylen, Brown Stood Beside, You know. So anyway, I I, I approve it off, you know, ambient, if you played all the games or play 75% or 80% maybe and I know that would be a little sentiment for set, a stuff on there. Should have been some scientists. Probably right at 3rd, right? And, but it looks like the real playoffs so, you know, like what are your, we had, you know, and how they played and it was so, but I'm okay with your kids. I was interested. Doc Rivers pointed out something very interesting about the motivation thing with embiid that back when doc was a member of the Spurs in 1994 or is it four or five that matter which one? And yep. Robeson was the MVP and they had to go up against a larger one and force around and Olajuwon was pissed, really cuz he didn't get it. And and so he said oh my God you know so he he got the stairs what could be motivating and beat right now? Well, but the flip side and beats his guy, it works with embiid. You know, I just don't think Joe has got enough and I didn't think I'd say this against Phoenix but you know, he does. He needs Jamal Murray and what. Phoenix now is, Phoenix has it, right? They've got a point guard down in Chris Paul. Who is obviously a Pro's Pro, you've got an unbelievable Wing scoring wing and Devin Booker, who's become arguably, one of the top ten players in the league right now and you've got a big who is super talented and.

"Free terms and conditions. Apply. All right. So Brooklyn. Milwaukee Milwaukee have any shot of coming back or are you sticking a fork in him? Works in technopark in a yeah. We I mean they may win a game. They might you know, one for the game and the Milwaukee but that's it. I can't imagine they'd look Socha. I don't know what's going to resurrect them. All right, the the other Series in the East, is actually one one in like today, it looks competitive, right? I mean, Philly, I got kind of manhandled and shocked and game one, and I think it was like, the ultimate wake-up call for Philly. I think they felt like, Hey, we're going to Breeze through this one. It's Atlanta. I know they have trained a young now. Made some adjustments in game. Two, you can't let you gotta let that make that Supporting Cast beat. You can't let Trae young just kind of do whatever he wants. Wage troll, the tempo of the game like they did in game one you know he's got the the physical guys to put on him. You know, first of all you get yours. 76 9. Yeah. Yep. And and and you can put them on them and and and the other guy Bill, you know, is diabled Bibles awesome. You see a player. So it's going to be interesting to see how Trae young adjusted this but what MB is doing long, as she really got a torn meniscus. He said, no, I'm not. This is like talk about Valor. I mean, if he how do you play Clash? Bob a torn meniscus for em and beat is nothing with everything he's been through. Think about it. Yeah, it's probably partially torn, you know, obviously, it's not, it's not fully torn, but Joel has been through so much money. I mean, you know, this is a guy when he's out there on the court. Do you love Joelle as much as I love Joelle cuz I love the emotion from him. I I was put off by choice and now I'm to the point where I said, okay, that's them you know we all have okay. Yeah it makes me laugh. A little bit in that regard, you know. And plus I miss I miss hey you know I don't speak English. The issue a different culture. And, and he certainly sounds like every tough-talking American pit, he's unguardable, frankly at playing. Well, he's unguardable at least offer you on. Is in the Hakeem, It's usually the closest thing to a game. We've seen a good, very good and not just because he comes from the continent, right? Yes, he is. I would, and of course, with more mature age, you know, when he has to. But, you know, he could spend a whole night in the low post like, like as if it's 1955 and and and and and be comfortable where he can step out and face up and and, and, you know, and and be comfortable life..
Nikola Jokic Becomes Lowest Draft Pick Ever To Win MVP Award

"And we're back with Ben Taylor here. So where would you kind of place him right now in terms of greatest Peaks. So if you go back through your top 10 video, there's a moment where you kind of sneaky, oh, kitchen real quickly. The bottom right corner of a video, you and I did notice that. So well. Where do you think that this season is and you use three season Peaks? If I remember correctly. Just multiple you say you have at least two. Yeah. So at least two. So usually two or three months so you'll catch needs one more of these I think because and maybe you can correct me if I'm wrong on that. I don't know that his 2019-20 season is quite at the level of the other guys that peaked in a way that resulted in top ten Peaks since nineteen seventy-seven. This is so been, I'll just kind of give you the floor. I mean, what is can you contextualize from New Jersey? Historical perspective, what we're seeing from Nikola jokic and where that is in terms of just pure value, yeah, I'll try hard obviously. Like, well, I, you know, well, the the bigger, you know, the challenge, besides the obvious of the, the leg work and, and the detail and all the things that we know and don't know about evaluating basketball, the bigger challenge right now, is wage when something comes along. It's hard to get the proper perspective because we've only seen, you know, as of right now, zero playoff series with him at this level and, you know, from doing Peaks, even the guys who go to 3 straight finals for 3 years, you got 12 playoff series and what happens. And sometimes we forget about this, it's kind of like a historical Oddity, but what happens is you play the same teams a lot because in the same window, right? Like the Lakers in the Clippers right now are good for a couple of years. But before that, it was like the Heat played the Pacers in the Eastern Conference and log. In between that the Cavs were so you kind of have this tendency to play the same good teams over and over again. So even with two or three years, sometimes, you don't have a really nice diverse sample to evaluate guys and that's what you want. So time is it a fluke? All those things make it really hard. And I always end up sort of tweaking as I go along and get a second year or third year. Like this is kind of Jonas, his third year at this level ish, right? He won MVP two years ago, and last year. So I'm, I'm going to be really interested to see what happens in the postseason this year. Especially, since last year, his sample was relatively small, he had the ankle injury. It was in the bubble. It was quirky. So, that's the thing that makes it the hardest like really, truly, a narrow down the perspective on. I will say here, and with, and with the honesty real quick, as an aside, we're going to get an interesting control here because they're playing Miami again who they played last season when he had Ed I mean, arguably the low point I would say if these of this three season peak..

"Quite as good as jokic is this in the case or at least might not get it back in a high-leverage situation because maybe his teammates aren't as good post entry passes or maybe, you know, he's he's at the top of the key and he's not as valuable there. Someone like, exactly, he's not as dangerous in as many spots on the floor. And I think one of the things that's unique to jokic. And I talked about this on an episode of my podcast thinking basketball podcast, I think the episode with Chris Herring, where we were discussing yokich and time of possession, and number of touches and these kinds of stats and it's extremely unique, and it has to do with this Dynamic that we're discussing here, where he has the ball, he makes a decision relatively quickly. But off, We'll go chase the ball or get it back or it'll be swung back to him and because he's basically dangerous or kind of activated and ready to be a threat found everywhere on the court in the half-court that allows him to. I can't really think of a player who's ever played like this. Give it up and come right back and reset value. Basically wage is like touching it and gives it up and if that Fizzles out, he goes right back into a screen or a handoff or two-man game. And when the ball touches his hands, now you get great decision-making or you're right back in that Dynamic I discussed earlier with the defense has to lean toward you because you're scoring becomes a problem. You know, he kills mismatches and switches. He'll instantly go to the Post so you can't switch against him but you're still playing in straight up as a big primary Defender and you lag or you chase one of the handoff guys, then you leave them open to shoot or drive and this year with better conditioning with a little length. Wait on him. His body control is amazing. His touch is amazing. And so it's like all the time everywhere, he's a problem, that's kind of the way to describe him. Yeah, and Mom do want to talk about how to defend him in a minute here, but before we get there I think that one problem is that you can't double him because he's arguably the best passing back. Whenever I honestly don't know that it's arguable anymore. Maybe the only reason I say arguable is because our Vita sabonis exists and we didn't really get his peak in the NBA necessarily so we don't do that. I feel like yeah I think you have to the only way to make the argument is to really curve for era and say and say they had less spacing back then and there were no way, the rules would allow 7-footer to dribble the way a 7-footer does today. And therefore, of course we can, only expect sabonis has entry passes, behind-the-back, passes Outlet, passes wage. Although sabonis had a better handle at that point but Walton of course is the other classic candidate people bring up and Waltons hypo stuff and those little interior passes and the speed and accuracy, those was incredible. And his Outlet passes were great, but jokic the breadth of his passing skill at this point. And the way the game is played today with space cutting movement, it's specific, pick-and-roll reads, like like we're just talking about one of the best passers of all time.. And a guy who at this point is going to be in the running for best passer and playmaker in the league every year, regardless of who was in the league and then on top of that I don't I don't think people have recognized, how good Nikola jokic is as a scorer yet? Yes, you're yeah. Nikola jokic off averaged more points per minute..

"Of those teams is eliminate adam. Silver would never. Yeah die. I there is something to be said for that. Ah i'm a little bit scared. But if denver was against dallas and you have nicole yokich versus luka doncic. Both unstoppable offense players. I still think the denver matches better with luca than dallas matches up with nicola. And that's because you have aaron gordon you have. Pj dosier you have michael porter and you have will barton and you can be a little bit more switchable with those guys on the wing then you would have been in the past when denver last played them. They didn't have aaron gordon in their previous match against dallas. Michael porter sat out at least one of those games Douses a good team and lucas. An unstoppable offense player. But i just don't trust the people around him and i think the denver could win that series. And then you get to the point okay. Who's at the top now. Utah phoenix if one of those teams as the theme that denver faces in the second round. Do you really think that it's impossible. Denver couldn't win one of those series. Because i don't i think they could absolutely one of those series because they have the best player and so often that is the that is what matters in a playoff series. And i don't know where this is ultimately going to end up but i tend to think and i tend to trust nicole yokich and i tend to trust joe-marie and i tend to trust michael porter jr. Unfortunately jamal there but trusting. Those guys has has really led me wrong yet. And and i tend to think that those guys just the way that they are wired the way they have fit together and played. Well anything is really possible. So i'm not going to count them out just yet. Yeah i I fully concur with that. I think Just like you mentioned. I i really honed in on on the nuggets. Post jamal Just to get a read of where the team was at and where they were headed in It just hasn't felt like i mean i've seen teams have injuries. And they go on a mini run but it feels more like there are. They're trying to overcompensate and Keep going what they had and the team is just like. We talked about the defense at the beginning. They somehow on the flour it will the change up their identity in a way and it doesn't feel fake to me so i you know i'm not going to place bets or anything actually i. I told france tonight that they should bet on the atlanta indiana game and i think some of them lost money because of this swyto bed but point being i i agree..

"Reads with the ball in his hands and when he when he has the ball a lot of times people come around from the back of him and pick and pick his pocket because he just doesn't really have the vision. And a lotta times. He will You'll have to pick up the ball because he doesn't like is dribbling to know where and when he gets to the place where he is. He doesn't really have a plan and so he's going to have to find a way to be decisive and understanding of exactly where he needs to go while also finishing those plays in the right way and making the right decisions. So that's probably the biggest thing i have for him. I don't have any concerns with them. Defensively he is what he at this point. He is an athletic wing forward type. Who is going to switch. Who is going to provide some rim protection. Who's gonna miss a few rotations here. There but is largely going to give good effort and usa size to his advantage. I'm surprised that i'm even saying that. The defense isn't really my biggest question with them. But it's not. I wanna see how he handles being the two man. Game in the yolk mpg. Two man game. Yeah i agree. And i think I mean that hasn't been talked about enough. The the the piece taken from where he was at as a defender in the jazz series looking just completely completely lost to where he's at now is remarkable I've been really impressed with that. For sure I think i think if you replayed that jazz series right now that denver would win in six and as long as they like if they have their their pieces healthy if everybody has their pieces healthy they have. Gary harris will barton they can play actual reasonable lineups and then the jazz have bought boy donovan. That doesn't scare me as much as like like michael porter in this particular position where he's now playing good defense and now just kind of understands who he is. The nba level and and people have not given him enough credit for making strides both physically and mentally like he. He's just a different human than he was in those playoffs. Most definitely Well i guess to to wrap up and it's not gonna be quick most likely but With the play offs. I mean we hit on a little bit earlier but How are you feeling about how things are shaking out down. The stretch was seating. Because right now. I i mean i don't know how it's gonna look in the morning but currently the nuggets are on track to finish with three seed unless the clippers surpass them. I know they're tied right now but It's it's possible..

"He has learned how to leverage his abilities in a way that i did not know that he would. So he's a guy who he's six ten and you start with that and you think okay. This guy is at lettuce he is. The athleticism is clearly come back to him a little bit after the back surgeries. He looks a lot more athletic and a lot more in tune with his body. Then i think we really appreciate it at the outset and that has really helped him for sure. You got to the shooting ability. He's like okay. It's nice that he can hit some some step back. Threes and things like that but the way it manifests everywhere on the floor. It isn't just in one spot. He doesn't have his spot. He really shoots green from everywhere and his. Just blown me away there. A couple does polling the numbers on him from cleaning the glass. He is one of the few guys in the entire nba. That is efficient from every spot. Whether it's in the restricted area in the paint non restricted area in the mid range. And the those kind of the baseline areas the corners the above the break. The only guy that he actually really compares to his kevin durant which is very funny that you mention that name and he has been compared to him very favorably. In a lot of cases he's been compared to carmelo anthony. I love going back to this one on the night of the twenty eighteen draft. I was there on that call. When he compared himself to a hybrid of kevin durant jaanus onto the compo- that is something that he said to the to the local media. And it's not that far off which is kinda crazy that he's sort of living up to what he's doing and he has still so far to go. He knows that he has still so far to go. From a ball handling perspective from a defense perspective from a kind of a timing and understanding his role in his ability to impact games at certain moments i would love to see him continue to work with the ball in his hands. Operate as a pick and roll guy operate as a d. h. o. guy one of denver's. Most unstoppable place at this point is when he comes around a he he curls around a yokich d..

"Weeks ago. But i could be wrong about that. So don't quote me But he is. I think he's on his way he's been sending the smoke signals via social media. There's been nothing. Updating his status on the nuggets fronts they. I know that he is out on friday nights. He'll probably be out again on saturday. Just because like it'd be it'd be tough to having back on on a game against the brooklyn nets but give him a couple more days after that of then maybe he's back for a couple of the games before the end of the regular season and that would be the best things to help him get his feet under him a little bit. Have him get some shots up having get some wraps and see whether he could get some footing because denver they. They need another point guard that they can trust. Yeah no definitely is a great point. He was doing a lot of really great stuff at the beginning of the year as well and Looking at pj to. I'm really frustrated for pj a because the aca for the nuggets but also he was playing really well like he was doing some stuff that i talked my friend jackson. Franken of pod today or yesterday. I can't remember but Pj he's showing stuff is like a pull up shooter. Mid range is three still isn't falling below. Like he's just. It's so funny. Because i mean credits a tim conway in the player development staff then but every time this has just happened for four years every time somebody gets injured. There's another guy who's been playing ten minutes a game struggling to get more run into rotation that ends up starting and then they they will often. It was maliki easily. Three years is that three years ago. Now i'm the bubble is just ruined all time for me. I'll time is at an all time especially especially now like as as busy as we are but you. You're so right that the nuggets. They've done such a great job one of tim. Tim connelly's main tenants. As as a general manager has been to assemble as many good players on the roster as possible a lot of people stop at twelve. A lotta people stop at thirteen. Tim connolly likes to try to get to fifteen sixteen seventeen now if you possibly can and that can rub people the wrong way a little bit sometimes because there needs to be a pecking order like if you bring in guys that are good. They expect to play..

"But he's just he's also very sized diminutive replacing them with really good defenders on the perimeter has really shown that you could defend around a coach. It can happen. It's it's not something. That's the main criticism around yokich. You can defend around him. It's it's definitely something that you can do. We'll see if it holds up in the playoffs and we'll see what when when they need more offensive players whether they can do some of those similar things. But we're i think that they can win the title at some point in his tenure. That's that's something that i really do feel and i've just said that murray got injured when he did it was. It was really tough for everybody. It was just very emotional. Yeah no definitely man. I remember i mean seeing getting game. The news that it happened was like i mean. I was in the middle of recording. Post game pod Yeah i i like. I like obidos. Damn you know this has happened. man like it's it sucked to see But you know all you can do is hope for for next year and see what you can have happened this year and i think that leads me. My next point to like In looking at the seymour new. I wanna talk about mpg at the end but right now with wilderness. You hit on Sure he hasn't had an awesome year. It's not like it's been bad But i think looking at how how well. He played last year during the regular season before getting to the bubble. I think he's been a been worse defensively this year. He just hasn't been the same athletically. It feels like And obviously he's out right now. It feels like like. I think a lot of denver can do in. The playoffs is going to hinge on. It doesn't hinge on him but he's gonna gonna be significant part of whether or not they can get to. You know the second round of getting to western conference finals again. I mean how do you feel about barton coming back or your confidence in him to do that..

"It's because michael porter has gone from unplayable defensively to an actual asset. That was all year to mike. For for michael porter. And that's that's one of the most impressive parts of his leap is that he has now sort of figured it out and ham being able to stay on the floor for thirty six minutes a night while the nuggets are kinda struggling to find offense around him other than yokich that has been a really big deal and so you mentioned Millsap and green. That's been one of their best combos defensively when they put porter on that bench unit without yokich. Actually both. it's good on offense and defense and they've they've just found ways to kind of scrap and claw and they how they are a complete defensive team at this point and it's just kind of crazy to think about that. This is a team that in their the twenty sixteen seventeen season going back about four years ago other was a busy yokich yokich leading the defense. It was about twenty nights and ed wet. He went into the starting lineup. It was dead last and they have just come so far. It wasn't always yokich like he was. He was always kind of underrated but he has made so many strides and the game that he had against the knicks. It was as much of a defensive masterpiece. It was an offense a masterpiece because he contested every shot at the rim deflected all the passes and limited the knicks to twelve points and a quarter. It was awesome. Yeah it was. I remember i was a. I want to see the patients playing that night so i was waiting to go wash that game. That was all that was that night That was shit out yesterday. God while it feels like it was six days ago but Yeah i mean. I check my phone. Of course because it's the middle of the game in shutting the In indiana and i'm like well. Let's see how the knicks doing so. I wanna go see that game. I had it circle. That was like. I really watch the next nuggets. Blake's big game for both teams. I saw the scores. I'm like oh my god okay. All right and that's that's what really made me think about this. Like just in defense in general like i mean the defense will used to just be gary harris and a prayer in sixty nine seventeen and even in the next year and it's just different now like a think too. I wanna hit on yoga again to Like the defense. A lot of it is positioning like you so good at knowing where to be like. His court mapping and awareness. We talk about on offense defense. I think he has maybe the best hands of big man. It's gotta be up there. You know he's not gonna block thunder shots or anything but like oh yeah. He's so good at just requirement for him like he he's always going to be physically limited and that's something that he he he's it himself like. There's a reason we're referencing tiger. Dunxin this podcast lead like look. He's he's never going to be the.

"And and i'm i'm glad that he is starting to really get that recognition that people are really starting to see it. It took a long time while the nuggets were losing earlier in the season it was it was a little bit shakey but now like just just after everything that we've seen I think that the shack comparison is very fair. And i think the what he is doing just as a versatile offensive weapon to really command and and be the tide that lifts all boats. I think it matters. I think it matters love for the center position as a whole to. Yeah no i totally agree man He just like yeah. I can't even add anything that i just. I get so bubbly like thinking about yokich man. He's just so good and like the amount of vine the thank you not this content will get out of it. Too is great. Like the picture of him stretching in the hallway. The picture of him racing his horse like just all this stuff man like he's he's he's great while all right so the next thing that i do want to talk about now that we aren't out. Upk's because there's very real and people need to accept it no matter what. Nick right says Maybe you could watch the nuggets play every once in awhile. That'd be cool just a couple times. Maybe once or twice could help but point being. What's really surprised me about the nuggets. Or i guess i shouldn't even say surprise like their defensive really ticked up a since the aaron gordon trade but since jamal's injury their fourth defense in the nba across twelve games and has been impressive to me. It just overall you can tell from them because they know that they're they're they're down. They're lacking shot creation They've really gelled and come together. Paul millsap has looked more mobile on the defensive. End him in engine. Michael green have been fantastic when they play together. I really enjoy watching that group and just overall like michael. Puerto juniors maze dries as a weeks. Iran protect your doing better stuff in help overall. Like i mean and of course you have mentioned how what aaron gordon brought. I think that's been ironed out. Well enough like he's been he's been awesome us really bought into his role but point being like the defense has just been flat out. Good and i think that's been undersold and looking this team could do in you know heading into the playoffs. They have had to rebrand themselves as a defensive team. And it's not. Just because jamal murray went down it was also because monte morris went down barton went down and thou. Pj dosier is down so they have had to fight scrap and claw their way into these winds and and while just opening the yokich reporter can really carry them on the offense event which they largely have but the defensive end is a is a really big deal because the players that the nuggets of brought in with shack harrison and austin rivers. I have been blown away by austin. Rivers has done and shack. Harrison may already be the best offensive player on the team. Just because of how quick his hands are how physical he can be and how well. He stays in front of his assignments while getting his hands on about every ball. He is awesome. Faku has really locked defensive end when you look down the roster right now just sort of the rotation that they generally play. There are no defensive weaknesses anymore and that's because nickel yokich has improved his defensive game..

"Shall we found out that a tiger dunk is when you grab the ball and with two hands you just gently caress the ball over the top of the ba- over the top of the rim and then hold onto your like a cats like holding onto something. Oh the edge of something and so he's just barely getting it up and over but he just he just holds on gently. That's that's how he does it. He's been getting up a lot higher than that. I don't think he gives himself enough credit because the man is literally on fire right now and he is just doing some incredible things. He had a game where he struggled against the lakers on monday but came out against the new york knicks on wednesday and just rain down hellfire. It was unbelievable to watch him the nuggets. They started three power. Forwards michael porter. Aaron gordon and paul millsap and then falko composite. Who's five nine on his best day and they just gave the body yokich and let them go to work in. He absolutely went to work against the knicks scored. Twenty four points in the first quarter. Why he is doing right. Now is unprecedented. At this point. There are players that have that have had these zones and been like really good. I don't know if there's been a player at the center position that has been this dominant before and it's been very fun to watch. He captivates the audience in ways. That else has done before. Because he's just such a unique player and and the way that he plays with joy the way that he brings everybody together. It has absolutely kept the nuggets afloat. Yeah i think that's that's just such a good way to put it like first of all. The joy is really important because he just plays with passion and energy. And i think you can say about a lot of guys but he brings it in a very different way. Just like his postgame. Press like what. I saw that from. Katie windy this morning. I'm tired that made my that made my home morning. Men like this stuff like that. Like i love watching you play I think like you mentioned like i. I don't i personally Even when dwight howard was at his peak like. That's my childhood is dwight howard. Only eleven picquier should want mvp I mean yokich is better than that. Which is it's crazy to say. Because i remember like when a kid watching dwight howard d twelve is the guy. Nobody's ever going to be better than d. twelve Obviously lebron existed. But you know. I was a kid. I know it's been crazy. 'cause i think the only guy who i can really draw comparison to is a shack like you can look at like shack in like two thousand two thousand one and i think that's the closest you get to where what what what yokich is doing right now and what's been so frustrating to me is like joel. Embiid has been amazing. I do think there was a point in time where they had similar. mvp cases. I don't think it's just the best availability is a. I don the best abilities availability. I don't best early buy into that. I think so much has been discounted. That yokich is the primary playmaker that team which note no shit right but like i don't like i think people think of it and they're like all the average is like five assists per game says his teammates awake without yokich. There is such a lack of playmaking on that team. Everything is built around. what he's doing. I apologize. I'm going a massive tired or you know but all day like michael porter. Jr junior's been amazing..

Celtics Team Shows Promise After Hard Win Against the Denver Nuggets
"We're talking about guys who played well we're not talking just about Tatum. We're not talking just about Jaylen Brown we're talking about some of those other guys are on the side who for the most part have not made an impact in this game Grant Williams. I mean only five points was a plus 23 and for once that was not a misleading stat when you look at how he was able to defend jokic how he was able to make a hustle plays like the one that we're just talking about where that wound up with Romeo wage. I filed at making a couple of free throws. You start going down this roster be on your big to of Tatum and brown and UC player after player after player making a contribution and gave me the one thing that it all says is that this team finally finally finally decided to fight they finally decided to fight but when games instead of, Georgia, Letting things play out the way they were they fought to be aware. Not just assuming it's going to happen. So

Who Is Likely to Win the All-Star Game?
"Now i'm gonna tell you what was wrong this game in it is team rant. And i'm gonna let you know why like hidden in. I think that they're going to be the winner here. Keep in mind this a fun game to see all star game. There is no real. There is no reason to put it all on the line. So i just think these top five and the starting role with young. he's gonna wanna make a name for himself devon booker who another young gun. I believe it was their last year but he had come in as a subject here. So he's gonna wanna do good. I see more youth potential on durant. It's gonna want to actually make a difference a even zone. They gotta sign on on. These guys are young and go on and make statements looked for them to give more effort than people like steph. Curry people like Tombo people like chris. Paul i just i think they're giving give you more effort and that's why i think team durant's get win this game again. It's a fun game. Don't be surprised going down the stretch last two minutes of they just wanna play slam dunk mania because there is no real cost to this game. So you know. I don't think this is a game worthy betting on or immediate. Any real significance is not. It's an all star game. It's weekend time it's fun but nonetheless. Those are your two teams one more time team. The bronze can start with lebron at tombo steph curry luca danni in nikola jokic. They're going to go up against team. Durant team grant kevin's going on his chin leading outfits and on the side he'll be coach and bradley beal. Joel embiid kyle. Erring kawai leonard. Jason tatum those injure starters and then all the other big names league made. It's the one that didn't make. It was trae young from atlanta. Which i i would put trae young on here before julius randle before on coal of Vic i would have put him on there before. So bonus I a big fan of trae young out of atlanta. He hasn't had the greatest. But you take trae young away from atlanta in the garbage and don't get me wrong garbage january's with out him. I mean he really is a one man team in most other teams are relying on much landed and it just goes to show you how good your quick helping gets inside and gets done. Betrayed young. didn't make it and you know they always say you can't have everybody. He's the one person i would have liked to seeing may get But nonetheless getting back to the point here. I think you're gonna see the younger guns on. Durant team tried to make the difference
Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic help Nuggets rout Thunder 126-96

A Deep Dive Into Rudy Gobert After the Jazz Lose To Denver
"Talk about Rudy. Gobert. What? What do we want to know about mr. Gaubert because I thought before today and obviously today is Sunday. I thought before the day that he was running away with the defensive player of the year award. And then today happened today happened. I would not go as far as running away with the defensive player wage. I thought he was running away. I thought it was a significant gap between him and everybody else. So I totally understand why you would say that their top five and defense coming into town today. They're really really good team Utah. They are arguably playing better before today than anybody in the NBA just point blank. Especially now that the Lakers have hit like off a bit of a bit of a malaise having said that I'm still saying Anthony Davis Ford Prince of player of the year because they've number one defense and he's the one the keys the number one defense in the NBA off. He's by far the most versatile defender in the NBA Rudy I think is a reasonable like honestly probably would be second for me right now Myles Turner has a case sneaky class that I've been advocating as much as I can Larry Nance would probably be in my top five right now. He is the whole reason that the Cavs have a reasonable defense. Yep. Right now a top-10 defense, but I digress nonetheless Rudy gobert has been very very good for the Utah Jazz this year and I thought that Utah's games this week. We're kind of a perfect encapsulation of the Rudy gobert experience against Dallas. He was the reason that they just come holy month and utterly annihilated the Mavericks in both of those games and I watched the first one close cuz I bet on Dallas because Utah was without Donovan Mitchell was without a favors and Dallas was getting back Dorian finney-smith was getting back to like Powell. I thought that they'd take that energy and catch you too on the back end of a back-to-back and be kind of run away with that game and that absolutely one hundred percent was the wrong side to be on and in large part. It was because of the incredible grass. City that Rudy gobert holds as a pick-and-roll offensive threat, he is completely obliterated kristaps porzingis in that in those two games like butterwood obliterated him like wipe them off the face of the Earth on both ends. He averaged 23 points and 16 rebounds. He had like three blocks. He had a couple of steals. He was dead thing that people who are Jazz fans and that yell from the rooftops about Rudy. Gobert. He was everything in those two games that people say about Rudy being like a top-12 impact player in the NBA. You'll hear sometimes in this game today against Denver Nikola jokic made him look like a parking cone on defense and

"Tio, Nikola Jokic and Yolk and you've seen him! Be it in Game one. Hey, Stanley stifled. Um he had He was aggressive. He was walking through there like their huddle and he was being like this instigator. This thiss antagonist, this Alfa defender on one of the best big man in the in the game. Most importantly, yo kick only had two assists in that game. We always talk about how great he is facilitating. To his teammates around them. Dwight Howard did an unbelievable job of of messing up what he does best other than score, obviously, which is which is assist. He was plus 14 in that game, Dwight Howard was and last night. That's what I was exactly. I was looking for you right last last year's Plus 14 last night he was plus 10 now wasn't as disruptive on joking, but he makes some work. You know what I mean? When you make a guy work? You serve your roll. It puts you in that conversation is one of the most important guys. He's a bit scout. You know, Dwight Howard's going to give you you know, three points on average, right, but sometimes it's what you could do on the other side. It's up. It's almost more important than putting the ball in the basket. Well, let me bring your statement to life. If You know the things that you can't quantify, like wearing no kage down a little bit. Nobody's gonna confuse Yokich with a world class athlete is certainly more skilled than explosive. Get skinny, You know, I mean, in terms of like, I know it's a joke. And And if he was, maybe, I mean, we could never prove this. But to your point, maybe if he was a little more physically resilient if you didn't have to deal with the Dwight stuff. Maybe he gets up that extra half an inch, maybe blocks shot by Antony people. It's a great point. It did not get off by hotch know and look. He defended it exactly how you're supposed to little hesitation, though, but has itself here's the thing I was reading. I was reading the like the reports afterwards. So everybody went to the Lakers media session and they all wanted to talk to LeBron and a D. And there's a couple of guys I wanted to It went and talked, Teo, the Denver Nuggets and the Nuggets beat reporters. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Right. It is their job and the question that that that was asked, And this was telling. Because this is this is anti Mike Malone. T. And by the way you're saying this amber wanted and I'm watching the play again, God. So what? So we saw that the substitution Mason Mason Plumlee Mason Plumlee is substituted into the game to be a big guarding LeBron, right. LeBron's a good athlete, but he's not running away from anybody at this point right so he could run away from Yokich. If exactly it's caught on to switch exactly. Which is why which is why Mason Polly was in the game to come to guard LeBron and Jokic Woods going to guard the inbound and if he had to recover, he was going to go out and get a D, but a T was in the paint. A D came out to the to the wing. And the question was asked of Jokic. And this is interesting, they said was that was the switch intentional like you. Was it supposed to be a switch on and he said, I don't know. I don't know. And so what? It tells me. Yes, exactly. So what It's got a big exactly What? What It tells me is that just like I thought, just like everybody watching thought, just like Mike Malone thought LeBron James is taking this last year. I wasn't convinced that LeBron was taken that shot. I would were where they were originally set up how they were originally set up with both LeBron and a D. I was convinced they were both in the pain. I was like, No, I mean, it's LeBron LeBron is going to take this shot. He's going, You know, body somebody do a fade away on DH try to win it. Instead, they kind of ran a back screen and a D came out to the wing. Mason. Plumlee didn't go with him. He just kind of pointed and all of a sudden. Djokic, who's governing the covering the inbound has to sprint out to try to contest the shot because otherwise 80 is wide. One eye's going to much for yoga to recovering that amount. Exactly Right? That's my one point was I mean, maybe Mike Malone just got out coached in that moment and the like the Lakers. It had the right play Use. LeBron is a decoy. Let a D be the hero and he was the hero Because now they're up to Oh, and That's a huge advantage over a younger and less experienced team like the Nuggets, and it's an advantage that's not lost on Frank Vogel, the coach of the Lakers, obviously pretty pumped that have these two superstars on his team. Here's the coach. The combo of Of LeBron James and Anthony Davis is just you know, if one of us not going the other one is and there was a little bit of that tonight when they both fall at the same time. You know, we're we're near impossible to stop. And it's right. Impossible to stop when you have to guess Who's this play designed for? You Got one shot, right? Don't throw away your shot Here. You got one shot. You got one of two choices That makes it so much easier to win basketball games. I know it's a little stretch of the of the use of the word impossible. I know. He doesn't literally mean it's impossible. Ah, yeah, because then you'd never fail. I mean, when that happened. I I think it is a very arduous ask. I mean, you told about second Grace, Player of all time of LeBron James were third, maybe behind Kareem Ah, and at a D, A Who's a top five Top six player in the MBA. Certainly when he's healthy, who started down feel himself in in playoff moments in that conviction, and that confidence is growing and that elevate you But You know if they're matched up with, like the right team and that right team or the wrong team for the Lakers, the right team for us If you want to see Lakers have a lengthy Siri's and get some more theater on the back, and then maybe not a four or five game series. Like if they're matched. I'm just throwing this out loud if they're matched up with the Celtics right from back of the day, with Pierce and Garnett and Garnet still somewhat surprised he was at that point. You got going out on a D, which will be one of the coolest matchups maybe of all time based on their skills really away from the basket. Very good athletes. And then you have well, you know what? Actually, we could probably Hatton. The trick is who's hanging with LeBron Pierce's way too slow, right? Ray Allen's way too small. So maybe you would have to put Kevin and that's what makes it that's what makes it hard. And then who's on a D? Who's a DEA? I mean, he's not. Katie's not Kevin Durant. But he is big like that. And he's starting to really feel this three point shot. He if he ever develops, you know 35 38% from three point range. He's deadly. I think he will. I think you will, too. But he forgets that he's deadly. Yeah, I agree, becomes the new Cady Healthy Katie, even though he was previously unhealthy a lot. He's healthy now. Relative, Katie. So yeah, I think I think it's it's not impossible. You're right, BT because nothing is impossible now, but it is really damn hard, because if that's not joking, Yoki running out, Tio, check o our contest. Anthony Davis. Whoever else they run out there, It's just like it's like a gnat on an elephant's rear. You know they they might be there earlier, but they've given five inches. Like what would you do it right. You found me Instead. That's true. I'm more likely to miss the free throw that I am to miss. The three pointer was short order from somebody else. Teach shooting a three ball for these guys. Especially tall guys. Yeah. It's like, you know, like we've got the portable room in our backyard. I know you guys have got back your two and Colton's only five, So I started on the lowest wanted. Now we start to get a little bit higher. And then you know once while Daddy likes to mess around and neighborhood always still has a jump shot. But it's like like when that thing is like 7 ft. And I'm just flick it'd from like, I don't know wherever implicated. It's like it's It's like they're looking like it's like you're looking down into it correctly. I know exactly what you mean. So now imagine having good hand eye good shooting mechanics and being 7 ft one and shooting the shortest shot of all the three point that he's going to be certainly 38% for the corners and maybe 38% overall where becomes impossible just to finish that thought, where it becomes impossible to beat the Lakers. Is if the other guys are home..
Doc Rivers on Clippers: ‘We’re here because we put ourselves here’
"Mantras. Herro. Has not been the same. Player since he came back from being away, Lou Williams has not been the same player since he came out of the NBA Quarantine jail there this is just the facts that doesn't necessarily mean that that's going to change the outcome on tomorrow night for game seven. But this is not simply the the clippers messing around there at the break here and his doc rivers said today they clippers put themselves here nobody else and it's up to the clippers to get themselves out of it. Yeah I'm not sure mantras heralds should be guarding Nikola Jokic chapter what we've seen the last couple of games herald had a good game for though. So I, mean, it's one of these things. That's a little confusing because I think I heard you mentioned this Brian that he's the sixth man of the year, not just of the team but of the League and yet he is not the six-man off their bench in that last game right that he drew my green came off the bench that they they have not been able to use him as they wanted to, and it goes so much deeper than that. Just so many parts of this team not functioning together the way that they can. and. We've seen them do it at times the season, but we have also seen them lack cohesion at times. This season and game seven is not a time for that. We will have to see if they can pull it

"Before we talked for nuggets which began as the first round of the NBA on Saturday night. I ended vertically had Houston finishing in the third seed in Portland finishing in the fourth. And it was just the opposite of that. No Houston finish their season two nights ago. I I'll be quite honest with you. I wasn't paying attention to Houston important last night. I and my is somewhere else. Spurs nuggets began Saturday night. Denver does have Nikola Jokic. He can play. Yes. They are young. And this is the postseason. But despite the fact that they're young at one point they were at the top of the west leading the warriors and they did finish second. So they got that going for them. If they have a weakness. Again, they're young. So they don't have a lot of experience in the postseason. They moved the ball. Will they've got depth. They play pretty damn good defense Spurs on the other side, as we know had a rash of early injuries. Couple of hiccups early incorporating Dhamar and three other new starters into the lineup. Despite that we know they are in NBA record tying twenty six straight postseason. That's called experience Spurs were two and two against Denver in the regular season. As a matter of fact, the Spurs beat everybody in the way all of the top teams in the west except Houston, and they did it on multiple occasions. And it looks like they're gelling they're healthy. They won their last three four their last five fifteen of their last twenty that of course after that horrendous rodeo road in February. And although they don't you know, they don't have. They're not battled tested and have the experience in the playoffs with his current roster that we had for about fifty. Fifteen years or more. But they do have more experience. They have Gregg Popovich. Well, that's true. Here's where I think you need to keep your eyes. Keep your eyes on lamarcus Aldridge in Paul Millsap Nikola Jokic cannot guard lamarcus Halder now he can't go to mill set the Marcus has got a three inch advantage there. And in those four matchups between the Spurs and Denver LA average twenty two points and fifty six percent shooting. And then the bigger key. I think is Derek Whyte against Murray. I agree. I think the length of Garrick I think is going to give Murray problems, and I'm not going to predict it. But I think the Spurs have a huge shot in an upset in this series. Sean Hannity's morning minute. And what you need to know about Sunday's game of thrones coming up next the body of a man found early today in the parking lot of north side motel has homicide. "I do not condone foreign players, and all you would never condone foreign players. Would you? Call me. Never never just listen Nikola Jokic. Where's he from Serbia? Yeah. If you're a Serbian, dude and you come over to America. You have disciplined your guy who doesn't fuck around cause. If you fuck around in Cervia, I soon you're executed fast enough for this doesn't matter. He's fast enough. But the thing is everyone's going to be long gagging around that Joe is going to be it's gonna be nip at a flask. But he's going to a little bit of active now, some of that price radiation like ninja turtle. I'll take that bet. If you wanna make Sean. He's the best player in the field. Yeah. But. Kris porzingis. I want some money of him when in the through foreign player will skip point Corinthian towns. I soon he's also Serbian Spencer with another serve the serves own Spencer Dinwiddie in this. No, he won't last us calling the previous Serbian winters. Tony Parker, another foreigner. Steve nash. Now there. Corners. I look I if you're if you're put money on a foreigner. And this dude launch I was thinking sorry towns is actually Dominican not the center, not the go. Please centered was there for like shock value. Kind of is that's chech- joking on Ludovic Sean would be in the Royal rumble. The joker. He's a big man with great ball skills. The touch pass. I'm telling me this guy's not gonna fuck her as here. I'm making a note right now, I think sound sets John Kelly snow where Sean we need those ball skills. Going to be a Trump coup. I would normally be all over the back door. Right. Next up in the all star challenge events the final on that. There are currently a four over my book data G, and that's the three point contests, buddy healed of the kings..
