"News stories right now, you might think Nikki's discussion on school dress code would be pretty tame wrong. I have been called everything from a tease to Lahore on the tax line. But Kali's had better manners but still disagreed with her. There should be a dress code. You've got guys in high school, trying to remember what page you on Julius easier John Kennedy, and they're staring at the girl's. It sounds like a boy problem out a girl problem. We're hardwired to reproduce, so it always falls on us to adapt to change to make the men more comfortable. I can't wear this because men are going to be distracted. I can't show all of this skin because.

"Okay, moving on. On on. next question did talk to your guy friends about the girl that you like ever like you like just everything's Yeah. Okay it depends on the guy right like I know plenty of guys that I know not to talk that way around because it's They don't have any there. During not emotionally available. So they don't WanNa hear your emotions exactly. So you've got to read the room kind of be like, okay like this is not the guy to talk like about how much I love my wife for any of that Kinda Shit but you do if there's a right guy. Foods right and then there's a reason to start going man I love my wife. Do. US All the time. Reason. and also when guys talk about the girl they're dating, is it really that vulgar because there's a lot of stories you hear about like guys are always talking about a year. And John was. Sometimes. School it's almost like a exercise. Yeah. You're pitching almost just fucking around with each other about it, but I can't say that I've heard a lot of that. Locker Room Talk. I know about it right. But I can't say I've heard of maybe you're the guy that other guys say like Steve's not the guy that disrespect women. That's Rice Steve. Kim Wait to fuck around. But yeah, I don't really I. Don't do the whole year. Broke guys. I. Don't think you really. Have guys done that to you. On. The fuck. I can't remember that. No good. That means you're surrounded by good people make decide I do have a lot of good good people around me for sure I'd good Let's see I talked about Nikki away all the time so I can relate. Next question. If Have Cepeda. Things I don't know it was found this unready trying and tell us. Fetish. I have a question to ask you. This actually if During. A Shit. Do you get back up or do you just sit down and just continue? Oh. Yeah. Keep going. Oh you. Oh in there, you don't put on your lap and. You don't. Know, what do you think is happening? I think that you said your last why? Why do they have to be? Put We poop with your highly galls I feel like a lady when I poop animals like neither legs crossing. squatty potty something. Together. Oh, Dick's not like up you don't. Legs Wide Open here. No I'm definitely. Your Bro Pooper. Little all around. I'm not offended that you think that we keep our Dicko I just. Seems very strangely feminine that they would be sitting. Touching this on my phone and legs go numb. So my knees are together. You don't know Dick's flops in. Okay interest. Hey. Wobbles to and fro and they use p while you're putting. Okay very relaxing. Happened to you when you're peeing like standing and then you realize you have to poop. So after up, then you end up sitting down like does that ever have any you know doesn't happen to me, but it happens with my buddy bar a lot. Up Actually. His son does that I watch take shit standing up. He hit the pool. Two people I was in their pool in tyco was in there, and he he just all of a sudden he goes oh no, and then he gets out of the water and he just immediately took shit standing up. Like on because they have the concrete coming over. Eight years from now send this video take a make fun of definitely. Ono. High School graduation video will put all that together. He's tyco alone. So what are some little things that you've done for girls for Nikki? If you know that they that they don't notice that Nikki might not notice what's in little sweet. Little thing yeah. You like intentionally because I think she's going to enjoy this. Yeah I'm GonNa do this. do you think your gestures go unnoticed by girls at all? No. Okay. I think if anything it's a little much sometimes because we're in the public sphere a little bit right and so if I do something, a lot of people hear about it in all these different shows. So like not only do they hear about my podcast, they hear about on your guy's podcast they here on jk they hear about it like four different times I sound like the greatest guy on the Earth Yep that's ever lived and it's not really how I feel. So I, just try to. Yourself, short because I hear the show yesterday, we were having a meeting and nick he's like Oh honey can you airdrop me this thing from my computer and then you add a line that said oh I love my wife or something like that. Something super like bitch whose boyfriend or husband would do that. Oh. Shit I love my wife. That's it. Okay. Yeah. She's plenty chicks who would tell you. I was addicted them or whatever. So I I just WANNA. Girl exactly. Though exactly when you love a lady, that's right you'll do not just universally. Run. That's I can't find my man because I don't know what happens when he loves a woman that what he Loved. And like. Know it. I know he does probably. For nights before. I would say that I try to. Win Things are when Nikki's spin out because for whatever reason I try to be the calm presence, but she does the same thing for me if I am if I am being an anger monster in our house, she's very chill during that. It's not like it's all the time Steve is like rock resolute like if I am doing that she does the same shift. That goes. But that goes on said a lot because we all fuck around a lot and I love to make fun of Nicky as well. But but she's very like she matches the energy of whatever she kinda counters the energy of whatever's happening in a really helpful way. She doesn't for us to. Reaching our minds out. She's a voice of reason, held us back for making a lot of mistake. Yeah. I could have gone. So a lot of trouble. Possibly, jail. And then you'll notice because we all think about Nikki and like Oh, she's crying piling on the four right now coach, which is part of Nikki to, but but the. Other part doesn't get very mature, very mature also trying to clean the fuck up a little bit more now like. Cleaner floors really good. The other day. His. Cooking and your dirty. Cleaner. That's good. No, you can't. You can't be better. Yeah. Stay be you're already the that's enough. Too. Much. We send the bar real high for the. Foreseeable clueless four so good that I take personal pride and seeing them shine. Now, how would you ever on those floors? Y. have. Asked so many questions about penal. Would would you Would you up Nicky's piss on the floor? WIPER wiper. Sure. He would do that for us to accept to like here's. Wipe you like our legs I don't think he will. Do Love You. would be like, Oh, here's some paper towels to wipe your. Lift your legs up like a baby? Only. Reason why I say that is because we did this one article where this guy and he was asking read whether or not it was wrong of him to help clean because he's a nurse to an added factor. But like a friend came over, they had like a big party this girl ended up getting so wasted she ended up pooping herself and this dude's wife which is was there too..

Stress, Sleep Problems and Weight Gain

"So today I am very fortunate. I have the pleasure of introducing new voice on dishing up nutrition Nikki Daring is. Here with me behind the other Mike this morning Nikki has been working at nutritional weight and wellness for the past two years. been very anxious to get a chance to be on dishing up nutrition. She is also a mother of Max almost four years old. So she has a busy life. Nikki, has also experience some of her own health problems about two and a half years ago Nikki experienced concussion from an auto accident. So she knows a lot about nutrition and concussions good morning, Nikki. It's so good to be here with you today tell our listeners a little more about yourself. Good Morning Joann thank morning much. It is so exciting to be on dishing up nutrition. Talking about my favorite topic nutrition. I'm a self-proclaimed nutrition nerd to the core. Fascinated with the effects of health food affects our body. I want to tell our listeners how I found nutritional, weight, and wellness. My after my car accident and concussion I was struggling. Even though I'd been a Dietitian for seven years working with people going through at last surgery. I didn't really know what I should eat to heal. My brain was like was habit as luck would have it I. actually stumbled upon a dishing up nutrition podcast about food to heal the brain after a concussion. From my concussion I suffered a lot of different symptoms. I had memory problems, poor focus, and fatigue just to name a few. I learned from my experience that nutrition plays a huge role in the healing process. To this day I, still I'm amazed at the healing power of nutrition. Just eating real food and eliminating those process carbs improved my focus and memory. Eating real food helped me sleep better I. Have Good Energy. As my brain continues to heal I. Know I have have to eat well to continue the healing process. I am truly a believer in the power of nutrition. That's great. Nikki. Thank you. Our listeners can appreciate the healing journey you have experienced. So today to prepare for our topic. We asked listeners to send in their questions about stress and sleep, and we received hundreds of questions. If you are having trouble falling asleep. Or staying asleep, not only do we both understand firsthand, but we have many possible solutions to share with you today. I can certainly relate to this topic because a health problem I personally needed to work on with sleep that was huge for me, and now I make sure I get at least seven and a half hours of sleep most nights. Parents you know our sleep is often challenged by our children whether they are babies, toddlers, teens, or even adult children who have moved back home because of life circumstances, our job layoff restrictions, and certainly now do to covid nineteen. We've got a lot of things that have happened for people. One thing I know for sure is when I don't sleep at least seven and a half hours most nights, I start packing on a few extra pounds and my clothes don't fit right. Frustrating, very frustrating. Before, we start answering questions sent in by many of our listeners. Joanna I want to explain why people typically gain weight when they are under stress and lack sleep. In our nutrition for weight loss classes, we explain that people can lose weight while they sleep this really certainly perks people's ears up. I can lose weight while I sleep or sure. So bio chemically I just want to explain a little how that works. So bio chemically. Five or six hours a night your adrenal glands secrete the stress hormone, Cortisol? which can cause you to gain weight. I just want to repeat that because I think that's really really important. 'cause bio chemically when you hear that your ears kind of go. ooh What does that mean told Meiomi Hammock -ly when you sleep only five or six hours a night, your adrenal glands secrete the stress Hormone Cortisol, which can cause you to gain weight.

The Challenges Black Mothers Face In America With Tatyana Ali

"Now. I know that you do. We do we know that you do a of work for with marchforbabies? Can you tell us a little bit about marchforbabies and your work that you do with them I started working with the march of dimes when I was very young and I used to visit a Nikki's and stuff and many years ago when I was doing fresh prince. My mom really liked the march of dimes always supported them, and so you know when they came to us she she was like this is a good deal. Good 'cause I had amazing experiences Now again, I'm working with them on the celebrity advocate council. Everything changed once. On and I joined that council right before covid started So it's become. been involved in Webinars and you know I tried to get information out there I. The thing that I've become really interested in because of actually my first experience which wasn't. The best. To say the least I ended up having an emergency C. section. Things were done at the hospital that were you know when I when I talk to people now and I talked to experts as I've become more interested in in this. Maternal health care. If like their eyes go wide, their mouths are like that's not I've never heard that I've never heard of that. But all these people like putting their forearms in my belly like. Just was really crazy. It was really crazy and at a hospital you'd. Was it like affiliated at was just because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time or you think it was like a, it's a hospital that has a very, very high like extraordinarily high C. section rate. And a you know a good the nurses were great. It's a well, it's a great a good, very good hospital, excellent hospital but. Their maternity ward, they're they're known for. C.. Sections it's actually a nickname that they're giving amongst the maternal health community that I didn't know at the time but I, started to do my own kind of legwork and. Going to birth summits and learning about the black maternal health crisis You know this this is the one-sixth that people talk about all the time. But black women are three times more likely to die in childbirth than white women and we have a maternal health care crisis in the United States period because and it really is like the more you talk about in the more you get into the wise. It really is because we have a structurally like Patriarch Patriarchal System a structurally racist system and it has to biases it has to do with so many things. So so I started really getting into that work in. March of dimes asked me to be on their council just to help get information out there. Now with Cova, you don't really getting people I have. One friend just gave birth but I've had three pregnant friends. One is about to give birth in. Who are pregnant and caring for themselves and being cared for during all of this, and there's a lot to like. There's there's a lot to think about in and fight for Fisher. I'm learning a lot more now I I. was really taken aback by adding we've heard how much we lag behind other western and and modern societies that are that are take really good care of women in childbirth and how much the US has really lagged behind in many ways both in terms of like honoring the mother's wishes and in terms of really like protecting. The protecting the integrity of like exploring those options as opposed to going to the most expeditious potentially like you know the the the least room for unpredictable outcomes but also a predictable outcome that you don't necessarily want. Those interventions lead to a lot of problems that wouldn't probably happened if those interventions weren't they're totally. So I'm so curious because you I'm so sorry that you went through a, you know a a difficult first birth because I I know that also a never having been through any birth before you probably at some point thought like did I do something wrong like with is supposed to have said this at the other like You know they're and and I'm I'm birth is a beautiful experience and it also even its best cases is a holy like body opening wrenching experience too. So you clearly have your beautiful sat on the other side and that's really that's really the most important piece.

"It's a so excited every time you've dropped like one of these so far I've been like so flattered. So who's GONNA go? I disagree I, feel like when I see you and maybe you just feel that I know it had to feel like you're rushing when you're not. When I see you I'm like she's so composed and she's moving. So Ellen entire don't feel. Whatever you're doing just keep doing. Okay. It's uncomfortable for you than than fine. You're not supposed to have fun up there. For you. You're F-. I love more like our job is hard. Yeah. No Shit like you know like. Doing I think is working in never feels rush. Okay. Meanwhile, that means to me I'm always look at her taking her time and like using her silence in being really powerful and. That's what I say God. It's just again I'll trust you. I'll just trust you. It's really interesting how you know I think that we I'm going to drop real quick. You know what I'm not a famous person once told me that because the person that it is going to invalidate what I'm going to say. Really smart things said by a really annoying person, which is you got tell you out. As they you freeze at the time you become successful like you freeze your habits, your thoughts about yourself like your hairstyle you're out like you're like this subconsciously your brain is like this work. You know. Yes. You're. A you will peak in highschool and then like dressed like they're in high school like whenever you peaked and felt like the first surge of love. Yes yes. haunch. So you're hippocampus is like this is what were just keep doing this interview Hilton. Surreal works surreal. Yes. Yes. It works keep up and like that's she's still does that but like I I watched certainly I was watching her documentary and she's just following your life around I'm like I relate to the so much because I am stuck at. Around, fifteen real hard. Are you talking? It's not when I became successful or anything like I just feel like I'm still holding onto so much is before. I mean really before had an eating disorder I feel like life was so free and that was before. Yeah before and I don't know if it was eating before puberty I am onto being like not a kid but a preteen because I was later than all my friends at like I didn't get my period though is like sixteen. So that just time before that, you know what I know worries I didn't care about boys and my body I didn't care about like eat. Or wouldn't like didn't mail a terrier being saying, yes is fucking exhausting and it's interesting because I was thinking about you coming on today and I was like you know naturally, we're going to talk about relationships I'm sure that's GONNA come up. We both do that you're. So should just unbridled in that area in I'm a little more trepidation when I talk about. What I mean there's so many things. No. I think that's good. To be till hold something back to be a little bit rivat about. I'm not super private about like wet I'm dating so I think for me I'm like because I've also I'm openly identify a love addict. Programs like I've taken years off from dating I took twelve months off from dating and sex. It changed my life I just did that but not on purpose. Yep Affleck not intentionally thirteen months now. But not. God, I should have started going to a program for that I would have some extras a- I g live speed dating count. Yeah. Yeah. I mean that is if you want to go on a date with Nikki, you can do that on her edgy live. But but I haven't been intimate with anyone right? Like I haven't had sex in thirteen months I do find that I and this is gonNA sound weird and I have this. Very cellular fear of not being relatable. It's a very cellular fear being misunderstood. Yeah. Very deep fear of being embarrassed. So I- trepidation about saying this gosh. What am I mean you don't seem like someone who's scared to be embarrassed not because you because you're just you're just so like you just put it all out there I feel like I want you I'm like. God. She looks so good being just herself very controlled curated instagram. Understanding Right now the Data Lake Twenty Seconds Day. Like the Times where you're like, I'm matt like. We did kick some things. Would indicate. Wiped the tears away as a instagram. Okay. So okay. What are you going to say because? I, was literally like I. Like I was like, okay, I'm GONNA ask her if she's dating someone what's going on in quarantine? She's GonNa. Ask Me if I'm dating someone. I. Was like you know what I'm at the point where I really am not seeking being in a relationship because I am so fucking sick of thinking about guys and I'm not anti man I fucking love man some of my best friends are men I live with two men that I'm not even sleeping with could just I wanNA be around all the fucking time you know you know. But I'm sick of real estate in my head being like, what about this? What about this and suck in your stomach and did he text back I'm just I have lost it'll make me cry if I really think about it and time I have fucking lost. Trying to get the approval of men I mean even just in the grocery store the other day was weird fucking mask and this guy went by in my my shoulders instinctively went up and I'm like I. Ask like this is. Crazy yet? Oh, hard wired and I grew up with a mom who it was. You know all about men and all about your appearance and all about your hair being perfect in your makeup being perfect in your pusher Bra and like the spanks in the fucking pantyhose with the shorts built in. That's.

"You loose, Mommy. Your aunt. My sister of a mommy. Danan in June twenty-fourth Gary My. Sister Died August tenth. My on an died the twenty ninth. And Wendy. The dog died. Tend to December so I mean an incredible. It was six months and then you wrote about it. How did you pick yourself up to be able to I? Mean you know I? Think many people myself included. Just I'm just going to lay on the floor because I can't go on, you wrote about it. And moved on. How did you pick yourself up from that difficult period to be able to write about and then keep going. I don't know that I have and I know that. The book that I. I know two things that I tried to share because I don't mind sharing them like that, but. I ended up with the seizure. And I think my doctor's good-looking. Let me start with that. Thank God is good. Looking and Gregory says just because I have high blood pressure, you know. And I said to Greg ethnic is because I've never cry. This is where this started. And I think if I had learned to cry when I was burying people and doing these things I would never I would have been able to get it out and by keeping it in finally. My brain. My Heart, my soul, whatever it is, said no, if you deal with it, and so that's why I'm dealing with the now I'm learning to cry now and little things I'm sure people are sick of being around me now. Because little things I mean I was telling you about my grandmother, and that's very hard, every time I looking over my shoulder and grandmother seeing that music. Things bring tears is now that never would, and so that's a part of what. You say down, but I had things to do, but I'm not the only person. And I'm certainly not the only woman. WHO! With a lot of grief had things to do who was going to do, and I went from being. One of the babies in the family and my aunt Agnes. Who is ninety three? But my aunt agnes is not doing well and essentially I am. The elder of the family, so somebody had to take over. If I can say that. Somebody had to make sure that these things. Were being done, so people have to be buried. People have. Foam but pump pump, and you don't have any time for yourself and in talking to a lot of my friends, and in talking to strangers standing on. And people to come up to you and say you know it's true and lost my mother, my grandmother. Baird can you imagine at buried my child? and. You'RE GONNA be sad. There's no question of the sadness of some food cop. Shot your fourteen year on the back or whatever you know, there's no question of the sadness of that and yet you have to find a way. To go on, so at this point, we look I would imagine we. We look. We look to finish your core. Who must surely have looked at the mother? Of immaterial she must have. At misbranding parks you. I went and got. I went and got a an and I got I went and got a tattoo. Why did you do so? It was only I don't know a finished. She's gone now. But. I didn't want her to think she was alone. But she must surely have looked at Emmett's mother and said. How does she do this while she did that by bringing something together to say, we're not going to let these I want the world to see. If I may quote this Bradley Emmett's mother, I want the world to see what they did to open the casket. Do not close the let them see what they did to his body, but she had to look also. Can you imagine? Knowing that your Chatwin, can you imagine I mean he I, hanging down and this, and that that did to touch it up a little bit that they kept saying. We touch it up a little bit. No. Don't change it at all. So she needed to learn. To cry. I don't I don't know that she did didn't but I know at the point that the world needed her she didn't. You keep comeback back to this. This has been. It seems to be a significant late life project of learning to cry. And that was occasioned by. You didn't do it in your year of magical thinking. Right then so so after that you said, and now you're I mean. How did you get to understanding? I need to acquire this skill. Seventy, three years old learn now when planned learn. Yeah, but it was just something that say and having awakened in the hospital and farm. And I realized no. and. That's when Gregory and I. I'm always Dr. be out of. That's what Greg. Argue about that. He says well. You know you, you you you you. Your blood pressure was up you under pressure because you know you always under pressure about something and I'm saying. Gregory is because I've never learned to crack. And so we we keep going back Greg I keep going back and forth and right by the way. Learned that I don't know. I do know that one day they'll be. A disease called the Nikki. And, the response to it will be. Oh. Yeah, you've got the nickname what we're going to do with you. Now is teach you how to cry. You need to learn to cry so that you can let it. Out so that you're not holding in is there's something. Does it come perhaps from? I think there is a black stoicism. Right where we expect bad things to happen, and we kind of have a stiff upper lip about a lot of these things. was. Was that part of the Ted like we don't cry. We're used to bad things happening. Keep plowing forward when we do need to take that moment to grieve. I think you talked to any. In a number of women the truth. I. Think that you have to get their things that have to be done. And if you don't do who's going to do. I can tell you this joke about my mother. My father died Gosh. I'd have to look up the date, but when we call him gaspar, wind gusts dot. Hadn't he wasn't. He didn't take care of things. It's just not what he did. So gusts died, and of course she didn't have any place to be buried in you. He hadn't taken care of any of that and so I went I'm going to be home on that. When and I was like okay, we I'm there. We're GONNA. Take care of it. And then I thought this should not happen again. Because the people who are left have to take care of everything so that Christmas which I thought was incredibly kind of me. I bought six plants because six seven of us in the family and six pack. You put two people on the planet. You may not know and so I bought six plots and I bought the headstone and on the headstone I had everybody's name and date of birth. And, so when they when we 'cause I'm there, too. When we die all you have to fill in as when she died, we died. And I was pleased and I'm not really big on gifts, because it's hard to give people stuff, but Christmas put it in a box and wrapped it up, so mommy opened up the box and. What is this? Asset Mommy cannot meant for what this cost me. If, you don't want it. I'll take it. But of course, that's what and that's where the family is gusts. We're all. We're all GONNA BE I mean unless they don't want to. Get all their because now. If I drop did right now. Nobody has to work where she Nikki. Go House. You're going to do, but you know. But you know when you're born, you don't. But others do when you're born..

How Vivian Kaye Turned Her Hair Care Needs into a Multi-Million Dollar Biz

"K. is a fourteen year veteran entrepreneur who has bootstrapped to companies from the ground up for the last seven years. She has strictly focused on the e-commerce world where she built kinky curly Yacky, which offers textured hair extensions for black women to over one million in annual revenue Vivian has been featured on shop. Expert Academy Series Ted Conferences the way we worked and has been featured and digital publications such as Black Enterprise Magazine and refinery twenty nine Vivian, welcomed being boss. Thank you for having made such a pleasure to be here. Vivian! We've gotten to know you a little bit over the past couple of days. You've popped in on some of our sessions. You've been offering us so much guidance and. Radiance and your smarts and all of the things. So now I'm dying to hear your story like, can you, can we? Let's rewind a little bit and we're GonNa. Get into all of the wisdom that you have to share, but I want to know more about your entrepreneurial journey, so tell us like. Where did it begin? How did you get to where you are now being on Ted and refinery twenty nine this morning i saw on your instagram. You're on somebody's vision board like talk about goals. How did you get there? Honestly I really don't know. Because, it's not like being an entrepreneur was a big thing right, so you know back when I was growing up? Being an entrepreneur was for people who didn't have jobs. And so I kept you know I was always in jobs where the one person department one Person Marketing Department and then you know I was at a job one day and decided to start side hustling. So I started out my first business as a side hustle and then while I was running that side. Hustle I got fired for sorry I got laid off. That's the momentum. Laid off from that job, and then at that point I said. You know what let me just let me just go for it. Just go for it and do whatever I need to do. 'cause I'm young I'm free and I can. I can do whatever I want. And while I was running that business I started running, and then I had started a side hustle with kinky curly Yacky, so it was like I had businesses running at the same time so it wasn't something that I set out to do, but with both businesses I set out to solve my problem. And at the time I didn't realize that that was the best way to start a business. But that's what it was I. set out to start to solve my own problem or to solve a pain point that I saw people were having so so that's how my entrepreneurial journey began. What was the first sight hustle? The first sight has a wedding decorator. So all I would do is go in and decorate people's wedding so instead of being on a an event planner doing you know doing all those little things I focused on one thing and what it was I decided so there's a whole story behind that so I'm one of four girls and I'm the second the number two. So my older one was getting there. My older sister was getting married and she hired a decorator who who sent you decorate the wedding for? Say a thousand dollars right, so she paid her deposit. Everything was good, but two weeks before the wedding she came back and said I need another thousand dollars, but didn't have a reason why. Right so I thought well. Of course, she couldn't have paid for A. She couldn't afford to pay her, so she ended up having to hire different decorator that decorated did a crack tastic job. And so I'm like. Why is it so difficult? Why can't decorators just say that they're going to do X. Y.? And this is what it costs and Bass what they do and keep it simple, so then I thought well. I'm just GONNA I was been into decor and HGTV when TLC used to beat more home decor than reality so I would So I started I decided I wanted to be a wedding decorator I. wanted to create weddings that were simple, but fabulous so I would ask. My bride's like okay, so do you remember the last wedding that you went to? And they would say yes, will do you remember the centerpieces or the decor? Remember. It was pretty I'm like that's what we're going to do. So instead of spending mortgage down payments on decor. Why not create something that is memorable, but affordable and people just remember it was pretty, and that's it so that's what I set out to do. And it was a it was a great success, and this was a business that I started with no prior knowledge like I just figured it out as I was going along. And so I can tell that you're a branding lover at heart because you're like, forget pretty. I want memorable and I think this is going to be a thread that we we've through all of your stories, but before we get to connecting those thoughts. I went to hear more about kinky curly Yucky, so what was? What was the problem that that was solving? And how did well I I'm the worse doing I always do this. I always asked two questions in a row. So question one is more about kinky curly yacky. What problem did that solve? And then I'm really curious to hear a little bit more about how I do think that whenever we have side hustles and day jobs and we're trying on a bunch of different things they all start to. Tie together in some ways like we're always learning lessons from one thing to the next. I'm also really curious to hear. What lessons did you learn from wedding decorating that you're able to take to kinky curly yacky. That's a great question. Okay, so the first question was How can you KEROUAC even started? About problem so the problem was I as I was a wedding decker, and so I'm I. I actually live in Toronto, so it's one of the most Toronto Canada, and it's one of the most diverse cities in the world so I was doing everyone's wedding from you know the Muslims to South Asian to Indian to everyone, everyone's wedding so This is going to be a bit explain if anyone really wants to know the real detailed answer. I could always do that at a later point, but. For Black Women. We have to present. We have to show up in the world in a certain way, which is quote unquote presentable so most a Lotta Times wearing our hair, as it is naturally with kinky curly with kinky hair It's not professional. Why don't go professional? So I wanted something that looks like my hair. But would protect my hair because our hair is not suited to this north. American environment, it's it there's not moisture. It dries out really quickly but anyways I wanted something that looked like my hair and know what asked me where I bought it because I didn't want that whole. Nikki manashe thirty two inches of blonde wig down to my I wanted something that looked presentable. So I searched and searched and searched for something that looks like my hair, and then when I found it I weren't to a meet up. To just like a general networking event, and another black woman came to me and said WHO's your hairdresser? And what is your regimen for keeping your hair like that? And I said girl. This is a wave. And she was like I would buy. And this was in this was in two thousand eleven, so I thought well if she would buy it. And I bought it. There's gotta be at least a dozen. Other women would buy it to now. When I was looking to solve my problem, I saw I saw the gap in the market I. Thought There are no companies just selling kinky hair, but I was already running the successful decor business. I was buying my coach bags. I was going on vacation. I was happy with that, and then I decided then I thought well. You know you know. Weddings have a down sees. It feels like you know what I can't like. Itching the back of my brain, so then I said to myself you know what in the down season of of of Vivian the core I'm going to launch his company and I literally made up the name while I was in the shower like I was like Yankee curly. Jackie, O okay and I bought a domain name, and I launched it in December two thousand twelve, and it immediately took off. Okay so I actually do want to hear the details about the actual hair. You don't mind no worries because okay, so I remember talking to emily in the early days of ALMANAC supply company, which is her business and she was trying to find very specific candle containers to pour her candles into, and we talked about some deep googling like how you just have to search like. Get real good at searching. So how did you well? I guess two questions? Are It was a we've, but it looks natural so I think this goes back to that almost that brandon conversation of like it doesn't have to look quote Unquote Professional. Let's make it memorable like let's just make it bigger. Bigger let's make it more of a statement. which I think is so cool so I guess I have two questions here one. How did you find the natural hair? If there is a gap in the market? How did he find a? We've that had the natural texture and then in that might be getting too much of your secret sauce like you might not have to answer that one, but like how do you? How do you find the materials and then guess my next question is? How did you start to then scale and expound upon that not having any experience in that industry so how? Sold! The key was that I was trying to solve my own problem so What I was doing is I. Would I was doing that deep googling I was in facebook groups I was on hair care black hair care forums. Just you know just. Talking with other people and people of course at that time, a lot of people were sharing okay well. I bought this here I. Bought that there, and so that I would of course make note that, because again at the time I was not looking to start another business I was just looking to solve my own problems, so I wrote. You know I would contact every. Every single factor, every single manufacturer, every single website that said they would do kinky hair, and the once I found the one I was like. Wow, this, actually a pretty decent I would ask them to tweak it a little bit. Just a suit, my needs and they did it and I was like okay and I thought well after the girl confirmed my idea. I decided okay well. Let me see the state. Factory can still do it and I would order the same product under different names and asking to do different things to it, and they would do. So I thought okay. Okay. I'm onto something here. And so that's how that's how I was able to. I guess perfect the product because again. I I like to get high on my own supply, so that's the beauty of the businesses that I M my customer. I know what I'm looking for I know what problems I'm looking to solve I. Know What my pain points would be. And what other black women's pain points would be, and the only person who's able to address that is me. So of course I use that to my advantage You know to tell my brand's story but at the time again I listen, I'm an immigrant. I'm a college dropout and now a single mother. So I had no clue. About all these storytelling and branding mark I had no clue I just thought it was just doing what kind what came naturally to me. So so how I scaled that business well, I think one of the mistakes that a lot of people are making in starting businesses that they don't have an audience for the product that they have and so then what I had done again I inadvertently created an audience by by being on those facebook facebook. Forums a facebook groups that had black hair care forums because I was shining. Just being Vivian online people remembered me. So bad, and the funny thing was what I, when I when the business launched, no one knew it was me I didn't. I wasn't. My face wasn't the base of the brand it was just like here's some products. You guys will love Ed Oh. My Gosh and people bought it, but what happened was. I was facebook group and someone I didn't do. The WHO is on the back end of my website do that. Who has privacy on the back end of my product? Someone in one of the facebook groups created a fake place book profile and posted all my information in those facebook groups. Saying this is the person who owns that brand. So what she meant. To to like to help me to make me fail actually was what turned my like. What is what actually skyrocketed my business? Because once people found out that I was the person behind that brand, they were like well. Shoot I'm going to almost support her because she's this. She's that I remember she's Great. She's awesome, and that's what took off so I realized then that. My brand, my person like why. Is What is going to help me succeed in business. Amen I. Resonate so much with what you're saying and. I have branding agency as well and really focus on personal branding and I i. feel like one a lot of people always tell you you need to identify your customer and what they need, but I always think it really does start with you if you can start with what you need you like, you can trust that. We're not all that different and that if you can just get specific about yourself, you're going to be getting specific about your dream customer. Customer so we are so aligned there and then the fact that I mean it was an unfortunate, and you know really inappropriate way to learn the power of personal branding, but you did learn the power of personal branding, so that is incredibly exciting and I. WE'RE GONNA dig into more about like how you leverage that and who you are, and what you do, and how you bring it into your business and draw boundaries and all of the things but. We do have an attendee question that I. Want to slide in here if we may. I'm in this question is from. Death and I think especially for creatives. Who is you know most of our crowd here then we add like to hear your. Hear your thoughts on this, so here's your question. so Vivienne said she had the hair problem herself and chose to solve it, but what kept her on that path instead of ending up as an all purpose, beauty, Guru or similar. To be honest. Hair is not my jam. So really what I? How I think of it is just the ends to a means way or means to an end it's the means to an end, so my real goal is to give black women confidence to show up as they are in the world. So hair just so happens to be the the means to that end. So how I just stick to hair you know I'm pretty. I'm pretty good at focusing on the one thing like it's what I've learned is You know niche of and that's my I will preach about I say niche, but its niche. You know it's either. We can use them interchangeably potato potato. Okay, so with me I. Find that if You speak to a very specific group of people, and you sell them a very specific product. They will be your most loyal fans. They are cheaper to market to they. Are you know more about them? Especially when you already are them so for me that makes it very easy to stick to that one thing because I know that very well and I can speak to it now. Let's just by started venturing into. Say. Make up girl I'll even know how to put on eye shadow right so it wouldn't. It wouldn't. I wouldn't have authentic voice I can't lend that often into city to that product, but what I do know is hair. I'm not a hairdresser. I'm not a hair stylist. Because I had a passion for solving my own problem so that I could show up as quote. Unquote professional in the world. I can solve the I know what looks professional for me. You know I learned you don't like it. That's your problem. Not Mine Right, so we as a black women. What started in two thousand? I want to say. In Two thousand eleven two thousand twelve. Is that Youtube? We started all jumping on youtube and teaching each other how to care for our hair. We stopped putting before. We're used to put chemicals in our hair in order to straighten it to look to fit that European standard of beauty. But then we were like you know what I'm tired of that crap. We're tired of that. We don't want that if that's not Howard. The hair grows out of our heads. You're either going to accept this as we are or not right so so the goal of. Of making black women confident in how they show up in the world is really what keeps me focused on here. There's other people and I and I realized. I'm really good at that, so if I just if you just focus on the one thing that one goal your why. Then you're. You'RE NOT GONNA get distracted by all the Shiny Mirror. The the shiny objects that are floating around, because yeah I could make some easy money doing makeup, but I'm not passionate about that I. don't that doesn't that's not my jam? I love the what you did was instead of doing. The sheds are what people may have expected you to stuck with thing I think oftentimes people in this crowd see either see someone who have sort of diverged from that path, or so. They're thinking okay I. Should I should diversify as well or they sort of get these little inklings of like going to different. Different things I love that what you've done is just focused. You focused on doing the one being amazingly well exactly, and that's and that's the one, if I had to give one piece of advice to anyone is do that one thing and do it really well before you move onto anything else because you know doing that. One thing really really really really really really. Really really really advising that really do that. One thing really well. Guess what you can do anything you can apply that same, so that's what I learned in billions, the core I learned that if I kept it simple and I just focused on providing my brides with this one product and do it really well, it would speak for itself, so I took that same. Simple yet fabulous and I applied it to. Kinky Curly Aki. So people like what can I all? I'm explained the Kinky curly Yacky. What is that, so? It's Kinky kinky hair, and it's curly for curly hair, and then there's Yacky. So? Yuck, so yacky actually is short for Yak, or against the long overreact so back in the day when they wanted to mimic black women's hair straightened. They use hair from Jack the animal. So the industry just put an eye on the end and call the Yacky, so you would know what Jackie was. If you were a black woman, so any block won't be like. Oh! You got that Yacky in and so it's a sort of tongue in cheek, so you would have to be part of that target demographic in order to understand the name of the the name of the brand clear I love that. You're very specific about your dream. Customer to effect. Because I was her I get hot on my own supply. So at some point, did you end up closing the decorating business I did? I closed it I. Shut it down back in two thousand fifteen, and the only reason why I did is because I got practice. More. Yeah so I launched kinky curly. Aki in the summer of two thousand twelve by July of two thousand, thirteen. I was in the business was doing really well at that point? It was I was just doing just under four hundred thousand dollars in sales. and I found out in July I was pregnant. Anti ago. And so you know with my? With wedding core I had brides booked a year out. Right so so I was still doing those weddings, still going to the still going to meetings breastfeeding doing weddings that type of thing. And then I started I wasn't really paying attention to what can carry Aki was doing I didn't know all these numbers until later on because I was doing it just because I just loved it and I was learning about H. Tim Allen Marketing in Seo and I just I just threw myself into it, but wasn't paying attention to the numbers. I just knew it was doing well. But then when I found out, I was pregnant. I was like okay. Okay, the being you got to the chill, you gotta chill. You can't be can't be doing everything and then in two thousand, fourteen march, two, thousand, fourteen I, gave birth to my son and he's been wonderful ever since he's six now. and then I saw what can curly accu was doing I thought. Ma'am really half assing it. What happens if I put my full ass into this? And once I did again. It took off, so so yeah, okay so. I I know that whenever entrepreneurs are listening to this or site hustlers listening to this. They're like wait a second. She accidentally created a half a million dollar business and wasn't even paying attention. So how does that happen? Did was that like word of mouth or referral? Launches You have specific marketing plans. What did that look like for? You had none of that I had was what people knew me from in the facebook groups, and and because I was also also go. Gee of the niche, their niche of just selling kinky hair did not exist before I. Start before I created my company. So because I saw a gap in the market I'm A. I pioneered that so any other company that you now see selling kinky hair is because of me. And so then because I was first to market with that bat just. Exploded because that's women were looking for. I was solving their problem and on top of that I looked like them. Right so it's like they were like girl. You know, 'cause. One of the things would be like girl I was tired of the whole African in the front, an Indian in the back. If you're a black woman, you know what that means, so what that means is we're all from. Black women are from the African for so we had these tight kinky air, and then we are putting on these silk weaves. I didn't blend with our hair. So I was tired of the whole African in the front and Indian in the back, and that resonated with people, so it just and I didn't do I didn't i. Here's another thing I just literally launched with one product. I locked to one product and I only had three lancs. I only had three lengths. I remember at the time, and someone would buy one I would take that money in going by two. And that's how I built. My business I didn't I. Bootstrap I started from zero. I took no outside capital I didn't have any debt I literally started from the bottom. And was it easy. No, no, it wasn't. Is that possible ABSA freaking move? So I, WanNa talk a little bit about authenticity because you. I feel like that's the core of who you are is being who you are even whenever it's not. By design, you know it just kind of showed up that way. You are your own client and I think that's one of the greatest ways to be authentic when it comes to creating what you do. So. Let's let's talk a little bit about that. Why do you think that autheniticity and being true to yourself and using your own personality is important for anyone who is building a business or a brand? Because people don't necessarily. I think one of the biggest things people need to keep in mind as people aren't necessarily buying the product. As you can see, it's not like I'm the first person to ever sell Kinky, textured hair extensions and back. There were tons of companies that had it, but what they did. is they buried it underneath the silkier texture, so not the first. To Sell Kinky textured hair extensions. But what people don't realize that people aren't necessarily buying the product. They're buying the person or they're buying the emotions. They're buying lifestyles behind the product. So brand is where you can tell that story so branding will help you. To, help you, stand out in the crowd. It will help people remember and especially when you have a story that resonates with someone one. That's what they're buying into. They could care I. Mean Yeah, you could, you could be selling something. That's more expensive and more has a tools unless this unless that, but what they're buying is the person or the idea or the emotions behind. It so I that's what I realized very quickly is especially in the wedding decor. Businesspeople clouds giving. You made me you made it. It feel so simple. You made me feel so comfortable, and you made this process so easy for me and I realized. It doesn't go learn how to do all the fancy. You know all the fancy. Do Decor all I want but that's not what they care about. They care that I made them feel good about the money that they were spending made their wedding. Feel pretty like I made them feel that way. So that's that's really what you should focus on. I love that you said that you're not the first person to sell kinky natural hair extensions, but that it's been buried, and so you took a product unique in on it, and then you highlighted it, and it's beautiful, and you're owning it and you're helping. Other women own it I'm curious, little bit with some of the activism around. Natural Hair California has banned hair discrimination. It's something that I was so excited to see and when it continue to see, are there any levels of like activism or do you think even products like yours have helped? Create that kind of. Activism you know? Do you think that it's like no? This is who we are and this is just as professional as any other hair well I. Think the problem was that we were letting you know black women in general were we were leading the world? Tell us what was beautiful. And you know Youtube and you know the the beauty of the Internet was us being able to see each other people outside of our own communities, and how they look. How many rock their hair and all that jazz so I think really it. It just helped people just be who they wanted just to be who they are like just to be their authentic selves and truth be told, and it does just women in general, because even society tells us. Women were supposed to look like like I'm pretty sure after this quarantine thing has done. There's going to be a lot of people who were blonde. That aren't blonde anymore, right? But you know with black women where we're especially, you know we. Don't want to say Alison to say hated on because of how we look, and so then this i. feel just the way to just listen world we have to teach. We have to teach the world. This is how we are. If they don't like it. That is their problem. Because this is how my hey, this is how the hair grows out of my head naturally. It's curly it goes. It goes to the heavens because that makes me closer to God in the Sun. Right, as so if that's not something you think is professional, I think you really need to reexamine what your idea professional is. Karen sorry. Goes show that Chad. Presentation matters absent. That is what the Internet gave us. It gave us access to each other and to To all kinds of beauty and bodies and ways of being right, and it allowed us to see ourselves and others, and we can't help it, but need permission you know, and that permission sometimes simply in representation I have so many role models where I'm like. Oh, I didn't know I could do that until I saw them do it. And you're providing tools for that awareness as well which I think is like that's an important part of this, too. It's not only having access to the vision of its having access to the tools to, and that's even what you've done. Okay Vivian, you're you just radiate confidence? We all see. We all feel it over these past couple of days, do you? Some of our listeners are indeed here today WanNa know. Do you ever doubt yourself like? Do you ever have what we call being bossed? Friday? Feelings I mean especially going into industries that you didn't have experienced in. Full frequently. Battle with imposture syndrome Prodi feelings all the time. But then. I. Think to myself you know what. If. I don't do what I'm. Put on this earth to do then nobody will. Nobody will be able to do it either, because people who who look like me or even in the same situation as me so I. Guess I'm a single mom. I've been through depression. I've been I've been through all the things that tried me and I came out gold. So if I don't tell that story, I don't tell people how it's done. Then everyone's just this is GonNa be one hell of a boring world so if I. Let that Imposter Syndrome. Eat Me! Eat Away at me. Then that's not that's not fair. It's not fair to anyone. Right, so I shine so that everyone else can shine to. Raise that's like. Your purpose higher than your emotions absolutely. Thinks the. Catholics. Say she's like yes. I, know what with his quarantine? My bow talks has worn off so you can see my reaction. That's right. My eyebrows moving now. I love it. Up Cackling. Right I'd like to bring this to. The branding things, which you've talked a little bit about and the conference, but not everyone has been a part of the conference like listening to this we have. So many more people who have been who have been here with for the past couple of days, so I wanna to talk about this personal branding piece. And if you have any top tips for anyone who's looking to infuse more of their personality into their brand, how can just any old person in by any old person I mean? Everyone is a snowflake How can anyone shine in their business and use themselves as a tool for growth? Or what I want to remind people is you don't need to be me. So you, you know there's. If you think about people like if you think it will jams, right? There's different Jams Jentzsch. Ruby shied differently than a diamond emeralds than that, so you need to be exactly that so be yourself because the minute you start being someone who you're not. It's going to feel like work. It's going to feel You're going to hate it. People will see right through it. So you really don't have any choice, but to be yourself and so sometimes that means you being quirky, or it means you know. Maybe you do more blogging than you do video or whatever the case may be. You just need to show up as yourself. In whatever platform however way you want to do it and the people who it will resonate with. We'll find you. They will find you, so don't be. Please don't be anybody else you don't. That's not what you were. Put on this earth to be to be someone else I just doing yourself a huge disservice by not being yourself. How windy you feel the most yourself Vivian. Like sometimes it's hard to know like what what is me. What should I be sharing? Where do I draw these lines? You know what you know you know where the lines are to be drawn right? You know you know liking. We women. That's one thing I find with specially with women, and there's a lot of things on finding, but anyhow with women we need to trust. Our guts were always second guessing ourselves. We're always doing all these things, but you just need to trust yourself because you know what you know where that line is. You know what you should be sharing what you shouldn't be sharing. Someone there's comanding that unlike very existential questions, which is basically sums it up I'm like, but but even are we but a bundle of sell. What is time? What is personality? What is money. So sorry asked me asking the question again, so I can play it all night, so the question is windy. You feel most yourself like. How do you know what is authentically? You because I think all of us. WanNa show up as we are and who we are. But we can start to second. Guess Ourselves, so you were saying like we. As women need to listen to our guts like we know, it's in our guts. But how do you tune into that like I know like? Let's just say. I remember doing a couple of years ago, I did. I was I was asked to speak at a hair like a beauty hair brand thing and I didn't like it. 'cause hair was not my passionate kid. I could give to kicks about hair, but put me on. Put me in a forum or an opportunity like this. This is where I shine. So I know. You know you know like you know like you know. I'd so, that's the only. Way Can I can explain. We know you know you know. My in I think even what you're explaining is that you know by trying things, and then like listening to yourself right, so you did the hair thing or you went and spoke at the hair thing and you're like this feels gross like, but you wouldn't have known that if you hadn't tried it. I ache, factly eggs, and that's the key to life to. You gotta try. You gotTA. Try GotTA. Try GotTA. Try 'cause. That's the only way you're gonNA. Find out what you. You like and don't like you can apply that to life like you don't know you like Kale until you try it. You don't know you guys that do this until you try it. You have to go through and try a bunch of different things, and then and you know one of the things I started to realize because I'm I'm forty two, so at forty I was like you know what I'm done trying to live in this Fox like I'm done, it's over. I'm Vivian means lively one so Vivian you just need to go about living your best life because. You know all before I was forty at kept trying to be. Everyone kept trying to put me in this box. You know be a box. Go in the box. You know what I. I discovered that I was a parallelogram. Graham is is a sideways buckler rectangle that has. The Google it okay. I was a parallelogram and I was tired of being put into the box, and so once I turned forty. I just flip the bird to everything and said you know what again if you do not like it, I do not care. That is not my problem. You can go kick rocks with an open Tokyo.

Yeah now working in the field I can't imagine doing anything else. Yeah it's definitely like the most rewarding job I could ever ask for. It's awesome, but you. Yeah. It's Kinda funny, hearing or story because I like mine's very similar and I didn't really know what her story was I. Always wanted to go into the medical field since I was little because. For the same reason, science courses always were interesting to me and. Social Studies geography were like lame so. I always gravitated towards that kind of thing, and actually did a like mentorship program in high school where I got to shadow some people in the healthcare field like x ray technicians and doctors and. Nurses and things like that and that's when I decided to become a nurse. And went to school for it so. I also was a CNA to in high school so i. "Know I don't. I gotta get out of this House. I mean it's just it's torture. Being a being this hard on myself, and I keep getting told that by every medical professional I see. Some hard on myself and it just I. Don't know where where do you think that comes from? Though like? Why do you think that you're so fucking hard on yourself? After you've proven to be extremely successful, and you know even the bad days. Don't affect your career. You know so. Why are you so hard on yourself? It's so. Bad Days I feel like they might like I was in Joe. I was like but what if I die of covert in the last performance as this Conan one, and it's just a see, and then now it's passed out, and then everyone's like that was what she was about and I'm like you don't know. BA's Best Chicken Parm

"Buzz? Are you ready department up? I thought we were going to ring the Parnell arm with me. I I prefer to ring the palm alarm like when the chicken is done. Then that's like ringing the Dinner Bell. You know you ring the alarm everyone to the table but when you're partying it up that means you're gonNA make sure we don't have any chicken parm in the oven at the moment. So the alarm. It's going to get there soon. Okay so I have like. We've collaborated you've let me ride shotgun on several recipe developments. We did the brock. Bolo the Brockley as a we did the pork Mar Bay. We did Matzo ball soup. I kinda think this is the best one we've done. Well this one has also been a true co lab. I feel like we were both very in this the entire way and I think that's probably why it's the best for the listeners. Who Don't spend a Lotta time on BOND PETITE DOT COM? We have a feature called B. as best and we pick iconic dishes and the test kitchen editors really go deep on them and they leave no stone unturned try every iteration of something to achieve the platonic ideal of that dish. And I think what's so interesting? What chicken Parm is when people were coming into the kitchen for tastings? Everyone's got an opinion. Yeah also feel like for whatever reason. The world is having a chicken parm moment right now. Like people or chicken parm obsessed more than they've ever been in my lifetime so I think it felt like a particularly important dish to develop right now. Okay so talk to me about the developmental process because you went about it in a very methodical methodical I guess it's the word elected choose approached it developing this dish and so what was your strategy. So there's a lot going on and chicken parm and I think that the only the only viable option was to deconstruct it from the inside out and kind of go into into the center of the dish and evaluate every element of it. All the way out to till it's like last moments before it's on the table so we started with thinking about the chicken itself and whether that was going to be abreast or a thigh and then we started thinking about. How are we GONNA treat. That piece of chicken isn't getting married. Needed is getting season. What's happening to it? And then we moved a layer out to the breading which is obviously an important part of the chicken parm before it gets fried and then we moved on to a discussion about. What is the perfect chicken parm tomato sauce and obviously there are a lot of thoughts there and finally there was the cheese. Combo and so we just broke it out into those fundamental parts and we worked one at a time and built upon the last until we got to a place where we thought it was pretty frigging great. It is great. I will say that with full confidence or let's start with chicken As much as I love chicken thighs in general love boneless skinless chicken pies grilling bone in for like Pan Roasting. The chicken thighs did not get much of a welcome this recipe. No you did not give the chicken thighs a look. I looked at them and I love the. You didn't let me because nostalgic got the best of you which is understandable because this is undeniably nostalgic this recipe and so. I think you were right to decide that. Like a breasts felt more conic. But I will say that I do generally always prefer a chicken thigh when it's breaded and Fried Chicken Buzzer juicier. Their media. Again. They were nostalgic. I think carries a lot of weight with this recipe in particular. It's one of those this at everyone kind of comes to the table with some sort of notion of what it should taste like of dishes. They've had you know the little Italy or red sauce joins in America and those are always boneless chicken breasts so I think that was fair to start but I think what you did so successfully in the next step was I had not done successfully as a home cook. I made chicken. Parmesan was always like good but never great. You leaned in hard on the seasoning of the breast itself. Yeah so the the best thing you can do to a cut of meat like a chicken breast which has a tendency to dry out and is out the gates. Less flavorful than say dark meat is to introduce flavors and ingredients that will help to tenderizer got so. We tried a bunch of different marinades for everything from white wine to buttermilk to just salt and pepper and we ended up with a like fifteen. Twenty minute marinade in grated garlic. Lots of lemon juice in lots of olive oil as well as salt. Obviously so the salt is there to season and to allow it to have a little bit of time to actually penetrate through the breast and then the lemon juice was there to tender. Is it sort of like the way buttermilk act so the vinegar we tried? We also try to vinegar. Brine is a really like fast acting way to tender is a piece of meat like a chicken breast the graded garlic. I also love what you guys do this a lot in the test kitchen. You take a whole garlic and a micro plane in just great it back and forth and that sort of like Dr. The marinade instead of just having to cloves smashed that grading sort of coats each chicken breasts and really sort of penetrates flavor wise. And so that there's something just so at talion tasting like taste like Italy. The olive oil the lemon garlic and to your point it also tend. Rises was really cool. Yeah so we were off drug. Let's start with the tender tender chicken breast away. I'm sorry I'm going to rewind before he marigny talk about the chicken breast itself. The pounding in the butterfly and what that technique is like very important so we took chicken breasts and butterflied them and open them up like a book so that they ended up being like one large very flat chicken breast and then we also played around with all of the different widths so pounding it to an eighth of an inch a quarter of an inch a half an inch and taking that piece of chicken all the way through the recipe to see which fared best ultimately and. I think that we ended up with a half inch as the diameter as the thickness of the chicken breast which is a lot thicker than most chicken farms in the world. That you'll eat out in restaurants. I would say a couple of things. You did a good job teaching me on the video. Like the you've got the whole breast would suppress you know. It can be pretty big and on the curve side. That's when you sort of laterally cut into it with the chef's knife so you open it up and almost like shaped and then you put that between wax paper and if you have a tenderizer or you know if you ever wine bottle whatever you have to pounded thin and I think I a little bit thicker because it stays juicier and I tasted chicken more. Some people like at dinner. That's fine again. It is kind of up to you to decide how you like it so wrong wrong. It's reason this is the best. It's the best. It is best all right so we pounded it. We marinate it for twenty minutes. While we've got the chicken marinating. We set up our dredging station. So let's talk about that. So here's the things that we tested we did a classic dredge of just flour Egg Pinko. We did a classic flour egg bread crumb would did a flour egg mix of Pinko and bread crumb flour EG mix of blitzed Panko and on blitzed Pinko. Can I just interject there? Like just so the it was very hard to keep track of all these cutlets in one going to which one and again masking tape and sharpies everywhere at some point. My friend Nikki resources. We're going GONNA BE A. She was making chicken farm. And we love Panko breadcrumbs because those ice little Shahrzad get super crispy. But she was saying. Oh well sometimes when you do just Pinko you get some bald spots. Or it's not as densely packed so we were like well. What if you mixed Panko with traditional like Progresso breadcrumbs to sort of get some fine some shards or you said well what if he took Pinko and then blitz food processor and I think a lot of those things as best like you WanNa go enough steps that it is the best but at some point you're also like okay? This is crazy. I'VE GOTTA get out my food processor and blitz half Pinko and put them back with the other ones right like we still want this recipe to be cou- Qabail and makeable for home cooks. This isn't a restaurant dish. So those are all considerations that we take when we develop. Ba's best so it's sort of like the best given all circumstances but we also then tried a version where we went straight from the marinate Intertanko then into egg back into Pinko and that was actually a revelation because the crust was so thick and so- crispy but we found that by the time we got to dredging the fourth breast. There was a lot of like glue. Be Panko egg situation happening and it was just kind of a mass overall required a lot of care and it didn't feel necessarily foolproof again. Another restaurant

When Healthy Eating Goes Too Far

"Going Vegan Veggie. You simply eating more veggies can all be healthy lifestyle choices but if doing so gives you. Zayed he about hanging out with friends makes you fear certain foods. It can actually be quite dangerous because yes being to healthy can actually be unhealthy for some restrictive. Eating is a short live stage that ricochets into a junk food rebellion for others. They find their way back to the middle of the road. But for some money the so called healthy way of eating can become a true obsession and at its most extreme. An eating disorder known as author. Xia this week's food for thought explores when healthy becomes unhealthy with Dr Nikki Stump Surgeon TV presenter and author of pretty unhealthy. Helen Nikki. Hi Thank you for having me. Really Nice debate here per exciting. I am beyond excited. I think since receiving your book getting to read it in being completely inspired and upset fully instagram Graham Wall. And just seeing what you've been getting up to you it's a pleasure to have you in the. Uk's at thank he owner thank you. I think we'll start with whether someone who's we'll go right him. Web someone's been diagnosed with an each use solder or slightly lesser degree. All serve preoccupation of being unhealthy. One is that unhealthy the occupation of being too healthy. Yeah I think that's a really good question because I think you've kind of alluded to it. Then you in in that question that use. You're walking a fine line. It's it's It's very easy to step from one thing to something that is is not so great for you. So you know. It's reasonable to be conscious and observant. About what you ate and making sure that you're exercising not smoking and drinking and all those kinds of things that's important but then when you get really caught up in it to a point where it is impacting your mental health. Your physical health. Your social well-being forget about that. A Lot. That's why. I think we start to get into territory where you are you looking at something. That's possibly not that good for you. You'll completely right the so many factors involved. I think for anyone to just identify acknowledging themselves. I'm not quite happy right. Now is quite a big step because often people in this country. We still have a thing as what at the moment weight is often seen as such a defining health. I don't know what your thoughts are. Matt Yeah I think white is is not going anywhere as as something that people Reach full particularly In an instant to to make a judgment about their own health or somebody else's health but it's really just not that simple econ deny that in some situations in some circumstances. Some people yes. Your weight is a factor in that can be at either end as well But I think that to look at someone and say Oh look at yourself and say I'm unhealthy because of I figure on the Sky Oh That's not rise. It doesn't really have have the support that we think it does. Yeah I think so. We use Via Mind it. It's so tricky because I got a lot of clients coming in clinic saying all the doctors told me. I'm just above the BMI. Actually have any health problems yeah so I mean BMI. I think is rightly criticised and analyze. And I think that if you're applying it to an individual it's a tool that has very little use if you're applying it to screen someone so looking for problem if you're applying it to perhaps population level or re as a research tool that has validity. But you know I think one of the things that people don't always understand about science and research and medicine and so on and so forth is that you know our tools always in perfect and one of the things that makes perfect is the way that we use them. So if we use be my willy nilly then yeah it's not. It wasn't designed for If we use it to look at an individual in front of us and decide if they're healthy that's wrong but if you're using it for the things that's been designed for it has some Information giving capability. And that's where we need to be using it I completely agree. It's just a wider understanding because things can be taken so literally all the time. Want to believe in one number having the solution or absolutely everything without simple you can be over way to be very fit. Yeah absolutely I you know. One of the things that is important in your health is not necessarily that defined. Yes Oh no I'm I'm above or below a number It's actually what you do and we know in particularly for women that no mash. They're they're they're white so their their body composition that if they live a healthy lifestyles in they take all the boxes for nutrition darn smart etcetera that they have a very significant health benefit. So I I'm I've really moved away from from that kind of thinking that you know. We have to get you to a low beam. I will take into account solely secretly with my patients. I'm very focused on what they're doing. Now I'm just trying to get them to to be. Active for example is is just one simple thing that's so refreshing into comfortable adult as well because this is something that unfortunately we see such a lot of this country because medics in this country. Don't get enough nutritional education. Yeah lifestyle education and to hear you say that is wonderful. Yeah even with that in mind. I'm just one piece of the puzzle. You know so if I identify that someone Is is needing some help. With what eat or exercise you reach for your for your experts. Now I'm sure like like the NHL. We're pretty eater stretched with results. So you know. It's not always easy to do that. And I. I think that doctors should be able to give out the basics just like You know my allied health colleagues give out the basics of what I do as well you know. We all work in this together by. I think it is time to to sort of change up our thinking and the way we give advice across the board. Yeah completely. I think is often a misconception. As well that it's all about overeating Ashley. You can be overweight and be quite malnourished as well. Connie that for me. I don't think people realize no and I think the way to to look at this is to Magin if you are overweight and you your diet consists less assay solely of takeout food so that that's all you rating by doing that by eating that very Calorie dense food You are unfortunately missing out on a lot of nutrients So for example you know are based on our. That's a word that is very loaded by mere medically speaking someone who paps has a extra white in the medical complications of it they can be still lacking in in Macronutrients. They can still be lacking micronutrients. you know so. It's not that straightforward to say to say that all that they're very well nourished nor that actually might not be exactly. You can be both ends of the spectrum I said and be completely malnourished. Do you see this getting worse and Western society off. I mean that's sort of what the data suggests you know so if you look at you know. Uk Australia us now. We're all fairly on power. We have pretty similar Spectrum of issues I think health issues and outside of the sphere of food and weight and so on and so forth with pretty similar and I. I do think that that it is the all of these things are increasing And then not just about US eating too much You know all of these choices that we might happen in a system. That is designed to make eight to macho exercise too little. I mean near tobacco. Advertising is literally designed to get. You know it's you know we're not we're not failing ourselves we are filed by system at lodge.

The Secrets of Wellness With Dr. Jeffrey Rediger

"Welcome to episode two hundred fifty five of live happy. Now I'm your host Paula Phelps. And I'm happy to have you back here again with us this week. This is a time when all of us are thinking a lot about healing and wellbeing. We have a lot of questions about wellness and today's guest is uniquely qualified to talk about that. Dr. Jeffrey Redder is on the Faculty of Harvard Medical School and his medical director of Mclean Hospital southeast adult psychiatric programs. He's a board certified psychiatrist with a Masters in Divinity from Princeton theological seminary and in two thousand fifteen he walked onto a tek stage and proposed a revolutionary idea to an audience of doctors. He challenged them to join him and create an a new kind of medicine built on hope and possibility rather than focusing on sickness and disease. His new book cured. The life-changing science of spontaneous healing provides a fascinating look into healing and how changing our beliefs about ourselves can change our outcomes. Let's hear what he has to say. Jeffrey thank you so much for joining us today on live happy. Now Glenn Beer well. We really wanted to talk to you because you have written a fascinating book and it looks at how people with illnesses. That were allegedly incurable. Were somehow spontaneously healed and I found this book so fascinating it really difficult to put it down and I wanted to know how you got started on this research. To begin with in. Two Thousand and two and oncology nurse at mass general in. Boston came to me and said that she had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and she wanted to help her son about this. And so then she called me from a healing center saying that she was seeing some amazing recoveries and she alleged look into it and that time. I was a new medical director new faculty personnel harbored. I had just graduated from residency. Not that long ago the year before and I said No. I didn't think anything likely was going on there and refused but Nikki was persistent. She began having people. Call me from around the country and elsewhere saying that they had medical evidence for their recovery and did I want to hear their stories. I continued to say no for a while but letters were coming in and as I began to look at some of the stuff. That's being sent to me overtime. In spite of my resistance and my skepticism I began to become confused. Frankly because it looked like something in at least a few of these stories was going on and so long short of it is. I did begin researching the stories and that's been seventeen years now so things have gone a long way since then and how hard it sounds like. It really was difficult to reconcile what you were seeing with your medical education. That's very true. It was confusing to see stories coming in and having lab tests and by APPS results come in with cheers from cancer that I knew very well from my medical training were possible and so what I did was established three criteria and said that I wouldn't even look at the person story or listen to their story unless it really met these criteria so that I buy cherry was the person that had to have genuinely incurable illness. According to all the we currently understand number two they had to have medically indisputable evidence for accurate diagnosis and clear evidence for recovery and then number three there needed to not be any complicating factors such as an experimental medication or anything else that could potentially explain how the better so that helped me begin separating things out because certainly a lot of the story is a scheming and the data that was pouring in it was hard to know what really was going on because you know person can think that they got better but if they were also getting some kinds of chemotherapy and had certain kinds of diagnoses wasn't clear what was happening and so. I tried to just make the criteria really clear for the sake of efficiency and so I could figure out what's going on. And how many cases you say that you studied so this point of seventeen years. I've gone into over one hundred cases. It takes a long time to go into each case to separate out which of the cases that are genuine incurable and then to see if there is really good medical evidence to make sure there's not other complicating factors. Once you get through that level that removes a lot of cases and then from there to go deep into their lives and try to understand what are the factors that are associated that recovery takes a lot of work and so these cases are much more common than the research literature says. I've yet to give a talk where I'm not approached by someone afterwards at least one person who says either you need to talk to this patient where you need to talk to my aunt new talk to my cousin and most of the cases in company. I have not had time to go into this just because I have a job and responsibilities. So yeah how do you fit this research in with the fact that you do have a job as an RA small dog? How do you do all this well? This has been a very personal hashing for me at has grown over the years. I think I've always been driven by questions. And a stories raised a lot of questions for me and so it became something that I have spent a lot of early mornings on a lot of late nights and weekends over time and it's changed the way I think about a lot of things both as a human being and as a physician Woohoo or some of the commonalities that you found in the cases that you've been researching so feared I talk about the four pillars of healing and wellbeing and. I tried to tell stories that illustrate really well how these factors played a role in people's lives and I tried to choose stories from my research that illustrated really well how this works for people so the first pillar is nutrition. Nutrition is a big part of most people stories. Actually and it's not a one size fits all it's not like everyone became vegetarian or everyone followed the Atkins Diet or something like that. It's really a unique journey for each person. About what helped them feel better and feel their best and we all come from different parts of the world with our ancestors and that sort of thing and so I think different diets weren't better for different people. Some people went completely vegetarian. Other people chose a more ketosis diet. But what's true? Is that in nearly all of these diets? The commonalities were very real whether it's one type of nutritional plan or another almost. Everyone eliminated processed foods. They eliminated the vast majority of sugar foods from their diet. And also enriched flowers so they really began eating much more plant. Based Diet by enlarge. A number of people did eat meat but they tended to eat meat. That one person talk about eating animals had been happy when they were alive. Not with not with stress Hormones grass-fed so they get the healthier fats and knock on full of chemicals and so even though the diets looked different on the surface underneath there is a lot of similarity so that's efficient. The second pillar is that you need to heal your immune system so one of the really exciting things. That's just starting to happen. In medicine is that we're starting to realize that we've missed the real story about illness for decades as doctors. We are trained in body parts. If you're a cardiologist you studied the heart if you're a psychiatrist he studied the brain if you're a gastroenterologist he studied a GI system the gastrointestinal system excetera. But what we now are learning. And what these people with such remarkable recoveries have shown me with such clarity is that illness doesn't exist in these body. Parts as much as in the chronic inflammation that's created by our diets and lifestyles. And so if you want to heal your immune system then you need to lower the chronic inflammation in your body. That's really interesting as especially right now with people being concerned about the krona viruses and other things where they talk about. I need to jack up my immune system. I need to boost it up and no insane. I need to reduce inflammation. Yes but show. Chronic inflammation is immune system gone awry and is attacking your body for example. If you're causing little micro cuts in your endovascular system because of the kinds of food and sugar. You're ingesting constantly into your body. Then your immune system goes into repair mode constantly trying to repair all these little micro vascular cuts and injuries and not only. Are you expanding a lot of energy for your immune system to do that? You also are setting up. This scarring cycle in your endothelium. That is over time going to create hardening of the arteries so. It's not really a cholesterol problem than deeper level is it's an inflammation problem and the cholesterol is just a symptom of deeper chronic inflammation. And so we had this amazing immune system with all these brilliant cells and cell subtypes that want to do their job crisply and efficiently. But you have to give them the proper conditions so that they can do that and so I tell people to address the nutrition to avoid toxins to knock over. Medicate to flush lymphatic system regularly with lots of water to spend time with people. You love. Who Make you laugh? Because we know that laughter and positive authentic emotions are great for your immune system and to make sure you get plenty of rest. A lot of the things are things are moms told US growing up. She just kind of present it differently and didn't realize that she was giving. Us medical advice asks right. It's very true because your mom probably knew some common sense things that were more about seeing the forest for the trees in terms of what creates vital immune systems then what we were thinking about for a long time when we are just looking at the individual body parts. So it's not a diabetes problem. It's not a high blood pressure problem. It's not a cancer problem. It's not our problem or

"Okay so we're going to call some people. Okay? Great the so we call people who have unbelievable show. Yeah, you know this and we give them advice. All right. We're calling Brittany. hello, hi, is Britney. It is hybrid knee. It's on affairs I'm here with Nikki Glaser artist Hi Nikki. I might Brittany Hey. What's going on? Okay, are you ready? US Okay so I have been with my boyfriend for ten years. This is the longest that ever been with anybody in my thirty years old, and he's the second serious boyfriend than I've actually had, and about three years into the relationship I found out that he has renal failure. So that was a shocker to me. Pretty, you explain to me what that is. I know I've heard of it kidney. Yeah, kidney failure! Oh, Gosh I'm sorry, though yeah, and I I've never had to deal with that so dealing with it was like a big shock to me. 'cause I've never known anybody with that disease or anything. And so we've been dealing with that for the last ten years, and about three years ago I was sitting there and something told me that I needed to look through his phone, and from just instinct told me, and so I did, and I found out that he had been messaging a technician from his dialysis unit, and so I confronted him about it, and we talked it over. We worked it out, and about last year in about may I just needed to check his phone again so when I did that I found more text messages from him and the technician from his dialysis unit along with messages and pictures from his ex girlfriend Oh! God. That must've been painful, so then what happens? It took me a couple of days to bring myself to actually say something to him and confront him about it but when I did, he didn't really, he didn't act the way he someone that just got caught doing something bad would act he just. Nonchalantly told me about like he told me everything and every I told him about everything I made him pulling messages up. He acted like it wasn't a big deal. In that it it just it wasn't happening and he didn't act like it was really that big of a deal, but when you asked him. was He dismissive of your feelings? Was He like Babe? You're crazy. That's how I feel is like it wasn't a big deal to him like it was to me, so whether or not it. It was a big deal to him is not even the case. It was a big deal to you and if he hasn't done a good job of making you feel like it wasn't a big deal, then he's in. He's not acknowledging your feelings. I mean I women toss this word rabbits gas lighting. You're crazy. Yeah, but Britney back to an earlier issue was he diagnosed with his kidney condition before it to that..

Okay, yeah, let's do. Are you sure? All right so dealbreakers! He goes to Disneyland once a month, but doesn't have any kids, not a deal breaker. Okay during to save. You? But I am curious. I've noticed that some men just really love that place. It makes them so happy. It takes him back to his time as they were kid. Feel any kind of like inner child. Just enjoying your inner child and letting that thing, even though it's stupid, come out is okay as long as I don't have to be burdened by. Why do you think he wouldn't be burdened by it? Because if he has to go, we'll if we live close I'm guessing we live close to this place. No not necessarily good flying. We once a month to go to him. Sorry, that's right because you live in New York. Let's imagine that you live here in Los Angeles and once a month he needs to go to Disney yet. You don't live together, but yeah. What does he do there? It depends, but Moodysson sometimes he loves space mountain. Sometimes he loves like Rocky, Mountain. Road or whatever that thing is yeah I don't mind. Sometimes. He just likes to wander and like. Just smell it. Take it in, because I'm GonNa Smell that reminds you of your child..

What girl doesn't love us we. Drunken Finger Bang from sixteen. Much better. I mean it's bad. It's. Gotten better at least maybe there's a silver lining of the porn. No No, I don't think so because I think was maybe they realize that they've to perform better like porn stepping it up, but I also think they think you should better and guess what you should be happy I'm here and so I wanNA. Relax and try to have nor Gazza because I. can't if I have to do cardio, I really can't honestly I. Most of my orgasms start from me faking them, so I'd legit feel like I'll get turned on, and then it'll be like a weird. Oh You! Did. You Watch big little liars. No. The, coal kidman has a crazy orgasm noise. That makes you think like. Maybe she sounds like it's like hot and weird. We do need to talk about your performance in Los Translating. "I loved your documentary because it it made me see that you weren't what I thought like. You are insecure and driven and in a workaholic and all of these things that I am too and I'm wanting to be you and I'm like Oh even when you achieve all of those things it doesn't it seems that that's my whole doing the roast. The other night I was like I had a great set a kill everything was great. I could not enjoy myself. I went went. I I had a great set. Everyone's just like couldn't have gotten more compliments. Everything that I wanted in that moment but I realized I forgot to do to jokes. That were my not to my favorite jokes and I was just like. I can't believe I couldn't let it go. It's over Nikki that you can't go back. There's no reason to even worry about this right now but I'm trying to enjoy the show. You're on camera processing. What just happened and trying to laugh at everyone else and I couldn't I couldn't let it go and I'm so everyone's texting me there in the audience audience? Great job and I'm like I forgot to jokes. Like what are you talking about. I went to the after party. I was staring at the floor. Like listlessly. Just going how could I forget those. It's pointless I can't go back. What is the? I'm like. Maybe there will be another Alec Baldwin roasts that I can do those. It's just. It was ruins my night. I ruined the best one. What could have been one of the best nights in my life? You know. It was weird too. Is I have the same thing but what will happen is three years later literally three years later and I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I'll get up in the middle of the night to like urinate and I will go into the bathroom urinate and I'm sitting sitting there and I'm in an undefended moment. Three in the morning and I'll remember that I forgot to do those two jokes and I'll go check out loud and my wife wha-wha-what what what it'd be like no. I can't explain because if I told her I just remembered that three years ago I was doing something and it was going really well and then I forgot to do the one joke that really would have made it great. And that's why I said Shit out loud as if a little door had opened in the bathroom and a little man had come out and stabbed me in the knee I said it would that much intensity sir. I can't say that because she would leave divorce me easy you say yeah yeah. That's the other night when I was just so upset about it and I couldn't wouldn't even celebrate even a little bit and I just sounded crazy to everyone that gives me. I got just 'cause I couldn't not talk about it And and everyone was just like what and I go. Why am I doing this for a living? If this was supposed to be the best feeling of this is as good as it gets in terms forms of. I couldn't have hoped for anything better and I can't enjoy it. So what. What is the point? I should just retire in rescue birds. Bird bird rescue. Birds are assholes kind of like him a lot.

That's you know I could just go on and on and on and then I may. So how did this happen. But then when Comedians who I people who I really like like you in respect when they say it to me I think well. It doesn't work that way. I think we all are really good at excluding ourselves in that situation and probably it'll be that's a defense mechanism or something but I just think no. It doesn't quite work that way. I just think there's a magical thing that happens when you grow up watching somebody. Yeah yeah that makes sense. Of course I completely agree with that because I feel like but I will say I grew up also watching save by the bell and it was very formative in the life of Horace. It wouldn't do that for a really nice thing. Going won't be the same infinite now now. You just made me made me more incident. I was incident before either. You're on the same level of screech. "Ideas panel we pair Joseph Gordon led Ah Tony Shay CEO Zepos and on the Sunday we recorded the talk your about to hear Kaitlyn Bristowe of the Bachelor and Bachelorette in Congress station with Comedians Nikki glaser now listeners I'm a big fan of Nikki's she is absolutely hilarious legit one of the funniest people in the world but what don't know very much about is something called the bachelor nation so to give us some insight I brought in the big guns as my co host today t be guide associate editor Liam Matthews Liam is co host of a beautiful podcast to fall in love that's TV guides unofficial bachelor nation. podcast is co host on the show is Jacqueline Trumbull from season twenty two of the bachelor as well as Bachelor in Paradise Liam Matthews Welcome to the talk house man what is up hey hey I'm so glad you could join us I need your expertise good sir well I am so glad that my expertise in this finally comes in handy so tell us tell us a little bit about the show and tell us a little bit about Kaitlyn Bristowe audiences met Kaitlyn Bristowe in two thousand fifteen on crystals a season of bachelor so then the next season of the Bachelorette she and another woman were chosen as co Bachelorettes and that was the first time they did that ran the lab last time they did that it was a disaster okay so she was the one that the men chose and she ended up having a very important season and she kind of changed the franchise and a lot of ways in what ways so her season was one of the first times that the show ever talked about sex there was also I have to say I watched a few clips before for Kaylin joined us live at license beautiful we don't see much but we hear some stuff from behind closed doors I met season yeah absolutely yeah but because she hooks up with this Guy Nick v all so he's he's another important guy but before the end of the show before the fantasy suites the fantasy suites when the final three the final three contests let's get you have an overnight date okay okay that's good steam much they hooked up before which you know it was like very controversial and then he brought it up during their reunion and he said if you weren't in love with me why did you make love to me Oh it was a very very controversial moment because she didn't pick him she picked another guy so he was accused of slut shaming her I can see why right and bringing this thing out into the open but it was a great thing bring it out into the open I think because it made the show more honest and as we know Kaitlyn Bristowe is very honest and very you know forthcoming talking about sex on the Bachelorette led to the conversation with Nikki Glaser you're about to hear definitely here's what's interesting about Caitlyn as well to me after her time on the bachelor and the Bachelorette she's launched a couple of pretty successful businesses there's a scrunchy line called do edit do you know about this if I don't okay just sounds crazy she started this she does limited runs of scrunchy that she designs right they sell for seventeen folks online but on Ebay these are going for literally anywhere from sixty five to one hundred fifty bucks a pop for one scrunchy do these like the ease of scrunchy -solutely it's nuts and then she also just launched her own line of wines called spayed and Sparrow Oh Caitlyn is an entrepreneur yeah putting their own brand together that's good I mean seventeen dollars for a scrunchy seems like a lot on its own it does to me I mean don't you buy those three for a buck or two right I haven't worn scrunchy so many years I don't know Caitlyn's also started her own podcast don't let compete with yours hers is called off the signed with Kaitlyn Bristowe now the other guest on today's show has actually appeared on off the vine and it was so fun to get Kaitlyn Bristowe and Nikki glaser together you're on the talk house podcast Nikki's hosted three hit podcasts to acclaim TV shows she's appeared on late night far too many times to count multi bill specials and toured the World Liam intersecting with your work over TV guide she's also famously appeared on dancing with the stars yes Kaitlyn bristowe famously did not and they talk about that on the show she was on dancing with the stars I think last year and she was the first person eliminated. which is it's honor Asandra for sure that's a rough one well back to doing what she does best her new net flicks special banging just dropped October I I watched it yesterday the day came out you just washed it this morning yeah we both found it to be fucking hilarious really really funny I watched it on the subway here in New York I and I was that guy like the one who was like laughing out loud and trying not to betray now of course with this being Kaitlyn Bristowe and Nikki glaser this is a hilarious talk yes it's very funny very no fucks given filtered Raunchy sexual podcasts home we certainly hear a lot about both of their sex lives again I refer to my bachelor nation expert tell us about Caitlin yes so if you are a bachelor fan you're listening to this podcast and you want to hear about her relationship with Jason you're going to hear a lot you're going to hear a lot about Jason Tar ticks penis if you want to know if you want to know what it's like she'll tell you all about it and she does but she addresses another kind of on this show Liam the creator of the Bachelor yes so the creator of the Bachelors this Guy Mike Fleiss who she blames for not letting her go on dancing with the stars and who recently was arrested for abusing his wife well charges were dropped but he's just a notorious figure just like none of well liked guy he's he'll he's a real he'll and on this show they openly call him a piece of shit which you almost ever hear the former lead of a show call the show's creator so unfiltered raw this conversation definitely is all of those things kate also spill some tea on her complicated relationship with Jj Lane yes who she saw at Ashley and Jared's wedding which we get some Sinus and we hear a lot about Ben Higgins yes Nikki Love Ben Higgins as we all do which season was Ben he was on Caitlyn season okay and then he was the bachelor Gotcha listeners? Cya You bring in an expert Oh my God you don't know this absolutely hilarious talk also takes in the benefits of getting tied up in bed why men should explore they're assholes dating bisexuals and Nikki Changes Caitlyn's life teaching your head a fart silently Sri rotate spread them cheeks give me a big license beautiful welcome Nikki Glaser Kaitlyn Bristowe I'm usually used.
