"News and track. So why love? Quick. Nikki Maduro. Trish is sweet, sweet trash. So did you watch any of the Met gala last night? Basically, celebrities sports stars wearing these extremely fancy or outrageous outfits. Well, one person who was not there was rap superstar Nicki Minaj now. She had a baby. And so she goes on social media and she was, you know, she was kind of going back and forth on what she meant. There are some tweets the last week basically going to read you is the first one That she should have put out, but she didn't. So she starts off with a picture of her, Uh, a year ago at the gala and said, I have an infant with no nannies during Covid, who's mad, not risking his health to be seen. Okay, So you know, I get it. Okay. You don't want to go to some place, There's no guarantee that you won't You know, get a breakthrough, but she's not vaccinated. She's not vaccinated at all. Then she continues to tweet. Her next one because people are criticizing her. She's like I was prepping for the VMAs. I shot a video and guess who got covid? Do you know what it's like to not be able to kiss or hold your tiny baby for over a week? A baby who is only used to his mama? Get vaccinated. Drake had just told me he got covid with the vaccine. Okay, so so you can see where she's kind of going and then And then she tweets this brace yourself people. My cousin in Trinidad won't get the vaccine because his friend got it and became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married. Now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it and make sure you're comfortable with your decision and not bullied. Okay, So now we're going down. The rabbit is so unfortunate. So people are texting or tweeting back at her like now That's an STD. He needs to go to the doctor. Exactly. There's something wrong and finally she tweets this Somebody had said I had to get the vaccine because they wouldn't let me look for a job or get a job. And so she responds. I know a lot of countries won't let people work without the vaccine. I definitely recommend they get the vaccine. They have to feed their families. I'm sure I'll be vaccinated as well because I have to go on tour. And so something like, why couldn't you say this first and then she goes off and says, I'm still doing my research. I just want to know. What that looks like. Who are you? Researching? Where are you getting this information? Nicki Minaj was being called out then by Joy Reid from MSNBC. And this is what joy Reid, who's a fan of Nicki Minaj had to say and people like Nicki Minaj, I have to say this. You have a platform, sister. That is 22 Million followers. Okay, I have $2 million You have 22 million followers on Twitter for you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives. My God, sister, you could do better than that. You've got that platform you It's it's a blessing. It's a blessing that you got that people listen to you and they listen to. You want to listen to me for you to use your platform to put people in the position of dying from a disease? They don't have to die from? Oh, my God. As a fan as a hip hop fan, that somebody was your fan. I'm so sad that you did that so sad that you did that sister. Oh, my God. Enjoy. Yeah, I mean, and it's true when you Look, I'm not Nicki Minaj. I have nowhere close to the followers that Nicki Minaj has. But I do have this show and I do try to promote the best health advice given by the experts. I'm not a doctor. I'm not an infectious disease expert, but I listened to them. I don't get my infectious disease information from people that have no background in it. So if you have a huge platform, I think you should use it in that way. Or just don't mention anything at all. Um and you have thousands of followers to. Well, I'm not. Minaj is all I'm saying, that's all I'm saying. But, you know, I don't think Nicki Minaj is going to get cancelled. Let's say, but I do think that she should be more responsible with her influence on people time. But speaking of being canceled Sharon Osborne is out. She has sat down exclusively with daily mail TV. Now this is her first interview in depth interview. They're calling it since she left the talk back in March. Now to bring you up to speed She was having a conversation about Piers Morgan. Remember Piers Morgan had assisted fit, and he stormed off because he was talking about Megan Markle, and he's making these sexist comments about and racist comments about her. Uh and and then he was saying that he was being canceled and Sharon was coming to his defense. Here is a little bit of what Sharon Osborne was telling the Daily Mail about that the talk episode in which she ended up being or leaving the show. It was a setup..

"To Nikki Maduro, evacuation of thousands of people from combo Is going to be hard and painful, no matter when it started when we began. Would have been true if we had started a month ago. Or a month from them. There is no way to evacuate this many people about pain and loss of heartbreaking images You see on television. And that, of course, is President Biden addressing the nation once again on Sunday as he tries to navigate the US withdrawal from Afghanistan as the world watches Joining me now is ABC News, White House correspondent Karen Drivers. Karen, another press conference. What does this say about how Biden feels about his decision? Yeah, I think In some ways, it's maybe reflecting that They understand the criticism. They've been getting just for the optics. Forget just, you know, the actual how the process is played out. But, yeah, This is supposed to be a vacation week for the president and steady state at the White House. He's going to go to Delaware for the weekend. He stayed at the White House. So he gave those remarks on a Sunday and took questions from reporters, which had only done once last week, So I think they're trying to get him out in front of this more. And we heard a very familiar message from him yesterday that he Has said. You know, this has been a consistent position for him that the United States should we drop in Afghanistan. But in terms of the criticism they're getting for how this has played out. There's a lot of focus from the president and senior officials on the efficiency, they say of the evacuation effort. We learned today that in the past 24 hours 16,300 people have been evacuated. Going back to last weekend. August 14th. The U. S has evacuated 37,000 people out of Afghanistan. So that's one thing the president was emphasizing and the message The White House would like to be the headline, Not some of the chaos that we're seeing and continues outside the airport area. Yeah. I mean, I don't know how many people actually thought it was going to go completely smoothly. But what do we know about troops staying past Biden's self imposed August 31st deadline. Yeah, this was I think a headline from him yesterday. He said that the August 31st deadline is now under discussion that the senior officials at the White House and the military are talking about potentially extending that, he says the hope is that it will not have to be extended, but it will depend on how far along the U. S is in that evacuation process. And you know those numbers. I just gave you 37,000 people evacuated since last weekend. We don't have a sense from the administration because it's not Sense. How many people total are looking to get out is 37,000 half of the number they need to move 90%. That's not clear, And I think that's a big question that the administration is going to be getting asked over the next couple of days as at August 31st deadline gets closer. Alright ABC News White House correspondent Karen Travers in Washington. Thank you so much for your time. Thanks so much. Yeah, And then we will, of course, be closely watching what's happening in Afghanistan. We are also closely watching this developing news today. Our fingers crossed that it's going to happen where a full FDA approval could possibly calm with the Pfizer vaccine, and I believe we will have a special report and then we'll open up the phone lines. Will this make a difference for 15? 80 88 10? This is a special report from ABC News. I'm Brian Clark. The FDA has given full approval to fighters Covid 19 vaccine..

"KGO. I'm Nikki Maduro McAllister in four Brett Burckhardt the rest of this week from our studios in San Francisco. And can the story you just did in your news about people returning toe work, even if they've tested positive and have symptoms, But I don't know anybody in the age of Corona that if somebody that you work with their co workers find out had Corona are going to be happy to see them with them Coughing or breathing around them. I'm really, Shawn. You die gin. You know, I could not If I you knew that I had it And then I came in hacking up along. I'm sure it's not. It's very disconcerting. And no one wants to hang around Typhoid Mary. Oh, I mean, I know how it is because we work in Radio and everybody shares microphones, people. I would get so mad at co workers who would come in and think, Uh oh, I'm going to take one for the team and I'm going to come in and do my job. Nobody wants you here. Nobody. It all wants you to sit here coughing and hacking and breathing all over and I was before Cove it can you imagine after Cove it So I don't like the guidance at all. I will admit that I have been that girl. It takes a lot of musical. Whole been that person and I I have to basically be bleeding from the eyeballs to call in sick. I hate I hate doing that. Right, Corona virus came around and all of a sudden we have these. The the kind of microphone covers the I take it home. Every night. I microwave it like a sponge Dio zap the Holy heck out of it. Yeah, it doesn't catch on fire. That's good. Teo does. It is kind of falling apart, though. I think maybe I've damaged it, but that's all right. It's clean. It's clean. Well, I don't know yet. I don't like that guidance. I think that if you have the Corona virus do not step foot in my house. In my workplace if you are still coughing or hacking or showing symptoms? No, thank you. But it reminds me of what happens in school. You have to be guilty of this. All right? So your kid wigs up? You have to go to work, right? And I don't really feel good you like you'll be fine. Suck it up. You'll be fine. You'll be fine. Let me give you some medicine. You just send you along, and then it never fails A couple hours. Lady. Later, the school nurse calls You know, little Johnny is not feeling real good, and you didn't get away with it. And I wonder if and when students start going back to school, and they do those temperature checks Parents might just be feeding their kids a little bit of Tylenol or ibuprofen and being like Gil passed the temperature check and who knows what's going to be happening? You think everyone's going to take that more seriously. Now? Those rules where, like, you know what was the winning? Don't send your child back to school within 48 hours after they throw up or that that that you write, so I feel like You know, my mom was a teacher, and she had to be in the classroom. And there was no one like jump in and say, Okay, you can stay home from school today. So that was always her mantra. Well, don't just go and see how you feel. And so there are you going? Marching marching out the door? Not feeling well. And so maybe that's where I get that. Don't call insect like you've got to just push on without you, Khun. Don't be a weakling. Get over it, But I feel like everything is changing now, at least in my mind where when you have something that really puts people at risk. You can't. You can't possibly do that, right? Well, I mean that people have done it, And that's my thing. I think in the beginning, you know, hopefully that day comes whether it's this year next year or whatever. When people at least some people start returning to work or in person a schooling happens. There will be strict about it in the beginning, but human nature as well. We've gone this far without having an outbreak or it's not too bad. And then people get a little bit lax. So I hope you're right. I hope people will stay home and be honest about their symptoms. I think you know what we're finding as parents try to figure out what to do about school this year. It is these two pressures pulling people in different directions. So you know if you need your kid to go to school when school starts, you know in person instruction again because you need to go to work. I think there's going to be and I hope it's not a lot, but of course, there's going to be people. Don't roll the dice and say Here, take some Tylenol. I'm sure it's not Cove it. I'm sure it's just, you know, Ah, little cold because people still will get the cold people will still get the flu. And it doesn't necessarily mean you have the corona virus. Everyone is just going to think you have the Corona virus, that's all. No. Yeah, As our producer John Daly says, you know, listen. There are some people that follow rules and some people that don't No, there's still a contingent of non rule followers out there. Well, I know that you We've talked about this before that your plan for the next school year and your Children start next week. Mine start in two weeks. So you're going to be next. They're gonna be next door with their grandmother. The teacher. And so is she setting up her classroom? Is it getting already? Is there anything special that she's doing? Way? Have learning got to bring up the window washers? So my mom My mom. I love her mom of your last name, which she probably is. But my mom decided that she needed her windows washed. So she had these men in her house that inside and outside and they came, and they wore masks. But there was still in her house and there still like Breathe in her air, and it's not a full proof thing. And we had, you know we were in each other's bubble, and we were doing so well and I feel it was that necessary. Mom, was it Well, you didn't have the windows on a risk worth taking. I don't think talk about this all the time. Exactly. Was it worth it? I mean, some people will look through a dirty window and say Yes, I'm done looking at this. I I don't think the risk is that high at the same time, if a window washer, you know that's their job is willing to enter your house to wash your windows inside and out. How many other houses have they been in? And so you just have to weigh all of those things? I just Received my box of the the initial school supplies because my school it might house, of course, is going to be turned into a classroom calendar is alarm clocks, things like that pencils, notebooks? We haven't We haven't received our actual school supply list, so I'm still waiting. But it makes me wonder what other people are doing like. How are you setting up your classrooms? Some teachers? We've been talking about this in the sand as a unified school district. They will be actually going into empty classrooms to teach our school district that my Children go to. They're going to be applying for the waiver that you need if you want to eventually start to reopen. And our public health officer. Our Santa Clara County public Health Officer, Sara Cody was talking about this because it takes time if you or your school or your school district hopes to reopen. You need to apply for the waiver, and Dr Sara Cody is encouraging elementary schools to do just that. We are still encouraging elementary schools that can that can put safeguards into place toe look into the waiver process and we are actively working with, um I don't have an exact number on the number of applications, but it's certainly excuse heavily towards private schools. There's not that many public schools that have applied and expressed interest in a waver at this point. And that's interesting because I think private schools and the ones that I'm aware of that my friends go to and post on social media. Ah, lot of them are planning on having in person instruction. They want tohave students on campus, and we've talked about the pandemic pods of parents setting up a little group of students that can maybe be in their home or switch home so people can go..

In San Francisco to change school name, not Washington and Jefferson. Those air still, of course, debated schools named after Washington Jefferson because those two at one point own slaves. It's Ah, debate with them, but now Ah maybe we just Dump the names of schools who are honoring Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln or flank Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Seems odd, doesn't it? From the Chronicle. Ah, according to the committee's assessment. This is the committee for the Name's Advisory committee, the school district's names Advisory committee. According to their assessment of history. Lincoln, who led the north in the Civil War, and his name is on a Sunset District High school wasn't a true abolitionist because the Emancipation Proclamation on Li applied to states attempting to break away from the United States, while some slave states remained in the union. The report also says that Lincoln allowed Mohr than 35 American Indians who took part in an 18 62 uprising in the Minnesota and Dakota territories to be hanged. According to the name's advisory committee facilitator Jeremiah Jeffries. Some people who are attached to the historical mythology may want to ignore these facts, but that is being dismissive of the people they impacted. Hey. He set up in 2018 by the Board of Education to look at a look. A school names make recommendations. Committee isn't sure which President Roosevelt Middle School is named after but both in or and Franklin are being flagged. You see, Teddy Roosevelt cited for his opposition to civil rights and suffrage for blacks. Franklin Roosevelt on shaky ground for his refusal to support an anti lynching bill proposed by his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt and for a support of limiting immigration based on race. Hey..

"Nikki Maduro. I'm Brett Burckhardt. The covert 19 numbers in California are troubling. There's been a 45% increase in the number of cases diagnosed in the state. During the past two weeks, hospitalizations jumped by 49% to patients jumped to 37%. The positivity rate jumped from four point for just a few weeks ago to 5.5 and the governor Gavin Newsom has added Solano County to the state watch list because of worrisome increases Contra Costa in Santa Clara counties. Are already on that watch list. They have paused, Reopening efforts. Alameda counties health officer is hitting the pause button as well in the county's reopening effort because of an increase in positive Corona virus tests and hospitalizations in the region. Officials say this week and next will be critical for assessing the impact of re openings in Alameda County that begin 10 days ago. At that time, the county eased its shelter in place restrictions by allowing outdoor restaurant dining, religious services, indoor and outdoor retail and outdoor fitness classes. We are learning much more about the decade long reign of terror perpetrated by the Golden State killer who pleaded guilty this week. Jim Roop reports the frail voice of now 74 year old Joseph D'Angelo, anonymously known before his arrest as the Golden state killer, the vice alia ransack or the East area rapists so many monikers pleading guilty to 26 counts of rape and murder. The details of which nearly too gruesome to hear, beating him in the head at least 24 times, causing massive.

"Say Google play KGO eight cents once again here's Nikki Maduro I think it's another day I had a two week regimen of hydroxy Clark went bad guys they get it I think just about two weeks I think it's another day so I'm still here I'm still there and I tested very positively today than others and so this morning yeah I tested positively for negative right so I tested perfectly this morning meeting I tested negative it's pretty clear what's going on here right he blurted out that he's taken it just to trigger the news media successfully by the way even though there's no way in hell he's taking the stuff you think any white house doctor even a trump doctors gonna give the president a pill that could stop is hard what is the S. for mushrooms will given those he never took hydroxy clerk when you know you know this is a life it came out of his mouth as Jimmy Kimmel can you imagine president trump on mushrooms my goodness all right before the break we were talking about Facebook saying half of its workers could be working remotely by the year twenty twenty and also that if they aren't working in a high cost area like the bay area they would be paid less and is that right is that okay to do let's go to the phones and say good morning Michael calling KGO from Carmel valley a Michael what do you think about you know changing the pay structure based on where you live rather than the actual job you're doing when you hit it right on the nose when you said an extra fifty grand a year to live in the bay area because you have a cousin who graduated from Annapolis is probably a hundred thousand dollar your guy in the real world his bail I wants to move here to Monterrey was forty five hundred a month for a family of four and we couldn't find a place that well yeah it's it's seen it's insane and thank you for your call Michael it is I think people welcome you know one of people moving out of the bay area because they think it's too crowded there's too many people it's raised the cost of housing Rancic's atra and other people you know I love the tech industry I I participate you know with the apps at night they have my money they have my support but at the same time I understand the argument that it has fundamentally changed some areas of the bay like San Francisco and some people don't like it and I think that those concerns are valid as well and before we go to the bottom of the hour news I just want to remind you that I'll be talking with California state senator Scott Wiener he'll be talking about virus tracking it is not happening right now within the LGBTQ community and he wants to change that but as promised EDT spokesperson Laurie levy who have an honor to have on this show as a couple of times she is telling people when the best time is to get that vital information you need from the employment development department here's Laurie levy so there really are better time to try to get into the U. I. online system and that's usually between and the hours of the morning up until say ten AM and then the evening say like after five those are usually the best time to be able to get in and minimize the blow that maybe coming in at any one given time so you're telling me entering those prime hours you are less likely to encounter a glitches and be you know cut off so there you go so those are the times that you should do if you missed it she is saying it's before ten AM so you know hop on turn on your radio listen to this show and say get on the EDT website or after five PM so this is the best times and you know I think that they're doing as best they can right now it's tough a lot of people need assistance a lot of people have very specific questions and as we continue to move on and maybe there's an extension of benefits we'll try to get Laurie levy with the EDT back on to answer because every time we are on we we are inundated with questions from all of you and I get it you just are desperate for answers and so are we so we'll work hard to get those for you all right coming up my conversation with California state senator Scott Wiener this is KGO the morning show with Nick in the door on KGO eight ten listen at home by simply saying Google play KGO eight special report corona virus update the city of Montgomery Alabama has only one intensive care unit beds left and with growing coronavirus cases is sending six patients to Birmingham more than an hour away assistant state health officer Dr Karen Sanders six hundred and seventy one hospitals on six continents this is a very very large study and what they found was increased risk of death and increased risk of heart issues Montgomery mayor Stephen Reid says of the four regional hospitals want to short free ice to you beds to have no beds and one is just one left in Virginia beach Virginia the famed forty block boardwalk in sandy shoreline reopened today but most people stay six feet from non family members with groups limited to ten or fewer groups were not allowed to play volleyball or group sports no tents no I'll call hi Mike Morris seven days good morning to you the KGO news time is eight thirty one I'm Kim McAllister San Francisco is joining other American cities in authorizing homeless tent encampments in response to the pandemic as safe sleeping village is open near city hall with roughly eighty tents along the wide street between the central library and the Asian art museum supervisor Rafael Mendel man says he supports sanctions sleeping areas in the city rather than just having in Kamloops popping up but I hope your sculpture wherever they may the city exert some control over it says that there are some areas where it is okay to be and we're going to regulate those areas mayor London breed said she didn't want to approve the tents but having them pop up along city sidewalks isn't safe either.
