The Chester A. Poling

"Today. I'm going to do something a little different for this installment of your next dive normally tried to take you to a dive destination where we talk about the trip from a number of different perspectives. The travel the lodging the dive operator. Oh yeah the diving. Now we've been around the world. But today i'm going to focus on one particular dive that is almost in our backyard. It is one of the most iconic dives here in new england and that is the wreck of the chester. Polling off gloucester mass. The chester polling was a coastal tanker. That sank in a brutal storm on january tenth. Nineteen seventy seven. The tanker had just left everett massachusetts and was bound for newington new hampshire. That information is pretty consistent in the research but there is other conflicting information about where she had been. And what cargo she delivered for example some documentation said she had previously delivered kerosene to new jersey while others indicated that the heating oil was delivered to everett mass. I would suspect that delivery to everett mass to be more likely always interesting when you Doing research to get this type of inconsistency now the chester polling was bill in nineteen thirty four at mariners harbor new york by united dry docks incorporated it was originally in the plattsburgh sacconi somewhere along the line at also known as the mobile albany before getting renamed as the chester polling at the time of its sinking it was owned by the motor vessel polling brothers and that was number one inc. I wasn't able to find who was actually named after but obviously some member of the family. So that's a little bit of history about the ship now on january tenth. Nineteen seventy seven capital captain. Bert charles burgess was in command. The forecast for that day was for thirty five mile an hour winds along with fifteen to twenty foot seas. the chester polling chester. A polling left. Everett are left everett at six thirty. A m well as we all know. Forecast can be wrong. The winds built up to fifty miles per hour and to seize goddess highs. Thirty feet facing the mounting sees captain. Burge's tried to get more stability by adding more ballast but at ten thirty a m a thirty foot waves smashed into the tanker and broke it in half the captain called for abandoning the ship. Six of the seven members of the crew were saved. I believe it was the cook jail. Derosa from providence rhode island who perished the sir. The stern section of the chester polling came to rest off easter point gloucester originally in about seventy five feet of water with the bow section sinking about four miles off of eastern point in about one hundred ninety feet of water subsequent winter. Storms move the stern section to its present location about eight hundred yards off of eastern point about ninety five feet of water. I think the bottom might be a little bit deeper than that. However the stern section of the chester polling is what some folks call hollywood wreck sitting upright and is probably the most popular wreck dive off. Cape ann as that areas known. Now i- i dove the chester polling way back in july two thousand and five. It was my fortieth dive and a double dip on. The polling was part of my advanced open water class. These dyes would constitute my deep and wreck advanced. Open water dives. At that time. I was still diving in a seven. Millimeter wetsuit with the appropriate gloves and hood. I use the standard aluminum. Eighty tank with nighthawks. Thirty two. I can still remember the anxiety that had doing. The first real wreck dive in the northeast but once in the water what an amazing dive the visibility that day was thirty feet and my max step was at eighty five. Even though it was july the water temperature on iraq was fifty degrees. It was incredible to move along the deck and reach the mid mid ship section where. The tanker broken half absolutely mesmerizing but with an aluminum. Eighty you don't get much bottom time and after about fifteen minutes we headed back to the up line and after are appropriate safety. Stop we climb back aboard the boat and got ready to do it again. Total dive time was twenty six minutes the second dive that day was just as spectacular and pretty much the same profile. Let me just say in a wetsuit. It can get pretty chilly. I didn't go back to the chester polling until august. Two thousand nine and that was my last trip there. It was my two hundred and forty ninth dive but this time i did it in a dry suit and hope to get some good video of iraq. I still dove aluminum. Eighty the dive was just as i remembered and just as exciting visibility again was thirty feet. And my max. Depth was eighty two with and the bottom temperature. That day was forty eight degrees still very cold but so much better in a dry suit again however with an aluminum eighty. You just. Don't get much bottom time especially if your task loading like shooting video so my recommendation is that if you are planning to die the polling you might want to consider a little bit bigger tank something like a steal one hundred or going to doubles. I know that i wouldn't consider going back with anything less than a steel one hundred tank. How do you get to the chester polling back. Then we use cape and divers but they closed up several years ago and recently the dive boat cape and diver to was purchased by several guys from boston. An air now operating regularly chart regular charters again became an diverse to is a forty five foot. us coastguard registered dive vessel. It is spacious and right now with limited divers on board you get plenty of room to get ready and dive but you don't get a lot of but you don't get a lot of time because you don't have a lot of time to get ready because the is only a few minutes from the dock so be prepared one thing. Different about northeast wreck diving. Is that as a diver. You need to bring all your gear that includes tanks weights everything. It's not like diving at a resort. Don't get caught short by not being prepared with all your own stuff now. Here's an interesting element. That i discovered during my research. It appears that in nineteen sixties. The chester polling was length lengthened. By maybe twenty six or so feet. That doesn't sound like much. But at the time of her sinking her length with two hundred and eighty two feet so that lengthening was about ten percent of the original ship's length could this have been a contributing factor for the ship splitting in half. I wonder so if you happen to be in the area of cape ban in gloucester massachusetts. You might wanna look up cape and diver to and head out for a double dip on the chester a

"Because they're like really reliant on like a certain ability like i fought manfred von carstens and they go in with that like plus one to hit and wu nora whatever it is and each command point something. They can't do it like they don't they. Don't have any command points and for me if you steal like obviously you know faction faction command abilities aside You could stop me. Or if i'm concerned about inspiring presents it means in almost any other command points during during that. Turn because i'm keeping my one soulard command appoint for inspiring presence which i may or may not even need. So you've made a really tough choice of as an opponent. If you can. Nick that command points. Yeah and and most importantly it also gives it to you. The nighthawk player so suddenly you've got a bonus command point. You weren't even intending on that. You can now spend on something though granted. We don't center jobs very well with a lot of the command abilities. More importantly you stole it from me. Which is just foul was and the other thing is that the the other thing about valencian is that frankly he hits really really hard and a lot of people don't realize how hard he hits until he gets up close if you're running him in your death star than he is guaranteed to be hitting on twos re-rolling ones and wounding onto which is a lot and the thing about valencian is that all of his attacks are at minus two ren which is very respectable. And he does d. three wounds normally but if you roll sixes wound he does the six ones And it is not unusual for him to walk up to something and just just suddenly do like ten wounds easily just with the sceptre the the only bad thing about linden's design is that whoever designed to nine nighthawk book was thinking very well when they wrote his sector rule. Because it's like it gives a rules to hit which is your already get everything else. It rolls to wound. "Yesterday i got an email from someone named dan who is in the middle of a nighthawk. Emergency dan lipson jackson wyoming where he had hit a nighthawk with this car. It fell wings outstretched on the road of vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction. But simply straddled it so. Dan turned around to check the poor thing out. It could not fly but didn't seem to be wounded so he brought it home and placed it in a safe small enclosure. Not many rehab irs deal with nighthawks and most of the ones that do handle only nestlings. This species is uniquely high maintenance because in the wild once young birds fledge and then for the rest of their lives they can eat only flying insects on the wing. they're huge gaping mouth ideal for scarfing down. Moths may flies winged ants and other flying insects. A nighthawk flies into the insects at such a fast speed that the bugs go down the opened throat without any effort at all. The nighthawks vestigial tongue is just too tiny to get in the way its beak is tiny two and rather loosely attached to its huge mouth so a nighthawk has no way of picking up food items much less getting them to its throat to swallow rehab facilities are usually much too short handed to be able to devote the time and attention day after day to this kind of high maintenance anyway dan in wyoming had called the nearest rehab facility. Which said they could just hold it for observation for a couple of days and then would have to have that euthanized dan. Google nighthawk care and came upon a long blog post. i'd written about it in two thousand twelve. Which is why. He emailed me because this is nesting season. Dan was concerned about more than just this. One nighthawk being lost if it was taking care of dependent. Young knowing only the females feed the young. I asked him if this one was a male or female and told him he could tell by what colored the throat was he said was brown with some white on both sides. I focused on the brown and said it must be a female. But i should have realized that nail nighthawks also have a brown throat the white bibs not part of the upper throat area and the center can be covered if it's not extending its neck so the bird was probably a male but both of us thinking it was a female made us both even more concerned about what to do. He said the bird seemed a lot more perky. Now sometimes it was spreading its wings on the bottom of its enclosure. But when i asked he said it was holding them symmetrically was not listing to one side and both is seemed fine since the only realistic choices were to see if the bird could be released or to take it to the rehab center. He wondered if it would be worth driving back to the area where he'd hit it to let it go. It was twenty miles away which meant a forty mile round trip for nothing if the bird could not take off but if the bird was okay he wanted to have the chance to find its nest easily again. He was worried because he wasn't sure of the exact spot but said he could find it within five miles or so. I figured that would be plenty close enough for a bird that covers a lot of ground hunting in the sky. So that's what he did almost exactly an hour later. My phone rang again. Dan told me that when he let go of the bird it fell on the ground but he let it get its bearings and then prodded a gently a moment and while i it took off circling higher and higher in the sky i have to rehabbed birds and over twenty years now. Many of the birds took in were hopeless and it grew more and more painful watching yet. Another one die from massive internal injuries after a cat attack or after suffering extensive neurological damage from lawn pesticides. It was thrilling to hear about a happy ending. Yes this was just one nighthawk a population and it won't even begin to reverse the downward trend. The species has suffered in recent decades and it certainly will not help with any other problems either but dance going to such lengths to help this. One bird made a huge difference in this one nighthawks life and the lives of its mate and young and that is something worth celebrating. I'm laura ericsson speaking for the birds..

Wet Notes - 4-23-21

"This is wet notes for april twenty third. Two thousand twenty one here on scuba shack radio. I up just after i recorded. The last episode president biden released his two thousand and twenty two budget. Well if you're a fan of the national oceanic and atmospheric administration or noah. You'll be happy in the budget. Proposal released on april ninth. The president proposed a record budget of six point. Nine billion dollars for knowing now. How does that compare well. This year knows budget is four point. Six billion wow. that's big increase. This budget really supports taking action. On climate change protecting marine mammals the ocean great lakes and coastal communities. If you recall the previous administration has proposed cutting knows budget only to have it restored by congress. Now this is just a first step in the budget proposal. It has a long way to go to get congressional approval. But i think it's a very good first step now. Here's something that's really interesting. I read this in the cayman compass online. It's about a grand cayman. Northside family found a message in a bottle. Yeah on easter. i think it was. The family was out walking on a remote part of the island. A place called the parrot sanctuary. I think this is on the east end. Well that's where patricia dacosta her family recovered an emerald colored bottle with a handwritten message inside the note said thrown into the ocean on six december. Two thousand and seventeen somewhere between the bahamas and florida. If you find this drop us a line and let us know where it ended up. Signed by darren and shannon from evansville illinois and it gave them their email address so patricia them with the news and now darrin shannon are planning to visit grand cayman at some point as for the bottle. The dacosta family's planning to put their own note in the same bottle and send it back out to see what an incredible journey. It's here the second quarter edition of the journal of diving history magazine. It arrived in the mail just after the last show. This latest additions cover story was written by chris. Cole and it is about the divers who worked on the edgewater disaster. It was one of the worst maritime disasters in us history. I'll leave it at that and you can do some of your own research but it was a really interesting article. There's also an interview in the edition. Done by michael newdow with dick rakowski and he's dubbed. The father of nighthawks again. Some really interesting stuff. I highly recommend that you take a look at the historical diving. Society's website if you become a member you'll get the journal mail to you every quarter a pleasant surprise in your mailbox. I received an email from a friend a few weeks ago with the subject line serenity so who can't use a little serenity how about serenity now well it turns out that my friend was asked by our son to watch him cameras for a school project. These live cams were from the monterey bay aquarium so i went to the link and it took me to their landing page for nine different cameras. I'm not going to list them all right now. But you can peek. In on their penguins. Sea otters were moon jellies. There's even a camera for monterey bay itself personally. I like to observe my sealife while diving but these live cams from monterey bay aquarium can fill in and provide that little bit of serenity. Now here's something interesting. That came in from shearwater. You know the makers of the dive computers. They have a contest. It's going to be starting up. In may called the spring shopping spree and the winner will get four thousand nine hundred ninety nine dollars shopping spree at the dive shop of their choice. And here's how it works if you purchase the shearwater in april or if you buy one in may you can register for the contest with their online portal with a proof of purchase. But you don't have to buy a computer to participate. You also be able to register by completing a short fifty word essay on why you like shearwater computers. The lucky winner will be selected at the end of may. And it's another great way to support your local dive shot. Thanks your water for doing this. And finally there was a short article from patty on april twentieth about their meeting with the maldivian government to confirm the protection for sharks. There was some speculation out there that the maldivian government might be lifting the shark fishing ban in their countries waters. Well this can't be good over ten years ago. Patty along with others helped to establish this current protection so the patty staff met with the moldavian ministry of fisheries marine reserves and agriculture's lead zaha wahid. Well here's some good news here at the meeting minister while he said that they were committed to sustainable and responsible management on april twentieth the ministry released a statement that said the maldives does not intend to permit a targeted shark. Fishing in the mouth. These great job. Patty in great job maldives for protecting these critical apex predators. Well that's it for wet notes. For

Some of Edward Hopper’s Earliest Paintings Are Actually Copies He Made From a How-To Art Magazine

"Zoom in art history doctoral student of the court hauled institute in London has just caused quite a stir in the art world. was. Shadwick has discovered that at least three of Edward Hopper's early oil paintings are copies of other artists work. Two. Of them come from a magazine for amateur artists that was published before hopper's paintings of the same scenes and a third appears to be copied from Victorian painted porcelain plaque. Painting by Bruce Crane that appeared in the magazine, the art interchange in eighteen ninety called a winter sunset is nearly identical to. Eighteen Ninety, seven old ice pond at Nyack. A painting that also appeared in the art interchange in eighteen eighty, six called ships by Edward Moran is a near identical match to Edward Hopper's ships from eighteen, ninety eight. And the Victorian Porcelain Plaque based on an unidentified painting I think needs a little bit more verification but it does look just like hoppers 1897 church landscape. You can see all of these side by side in the New York Times article linked in the show notes. But a couple of notes on this Carter, foster hopper expert and director at the Blanton Museum of art in Texas notes that it's not at all unusual for artists of the time to have gotten their start by copying other works it was part of the learning process. But the problem is that much of the myth of hopper that he leaned into a bit while he was alive was that he had a preternatural talents especially evident in his early oil paintings that he created all on his own quoting the New York Times for Kim Canetti curator of drawings and prints at the Whitney. Museum. In New York where she is. At. Work on a big hopper, show the copying that Mr Shannon with revealed has more important repercussions. It cuts straight through the widely-held perception of hopper as an American. Original. She said as an artist whose innate genius allowed him to emerge on the scene without a debt to others. The only real influence I've ever had was myself. He wants claimed and quotes. And importantly, hoppers version of old ice pond nyack is currently being sold by an art gallery for between three hundred and four hundred thousand dollars. Will these revelations change anything about that price points and other sales of his early works? Showed wakes discovery is still in the process of being compiled and peer reviewed but perhaps, the market and hoppers legacy will shift somewhat in the near future. You know hopper's art has become a symbol of everyday life in mid century America his paintings brought to life the predominant thoughts and feelings of the time quoting again from the New York Times critics and scholars have always been intrigued by awkwardness that hopper allowed himself in many of his classic paintings sees that looked more painted than liquid in his famous groundswell, the Awkward Anatomy of his female nude in morning in the city or the stony faces of the diners in nighthawks. Now that we know that hopper was never a painting prodigy we can think of his later paintings as deliberately revisiting the limitations of his adolescence and finding virtue and power there. There's a classic move in American. Culture to see the unschooled in Homespun as more authentic and especially as more authentically American than the sophist stories of those decadent old Europeans end quote. And yet this is something I think about sometimes you know oddly for a nation. So deeply entrenched in its origins in the idea of the Protestant work ethic does seem to be this pervasive narrative throughout the centuries in. United. States that someone who is just miraculously gifted born perfect in a certain field or talent without help or instruction from anyone else is so much better. So much more deserving of being glorified than someone who Had to work hard at it who trained in grew over time maybe made some mistakes along the way not only does that do a disservice to the true fact that many people do have to work hard to perfect skills and talents and lead many to give up if they think they're not perfect at their first shot, but it erases the many people who help someone hone their craft and make it to where they are. Leads us to only praising leaders, celebrities, Star athletes, people in the spotlight and forgetting all about the people, the coaches, the teachers, the drivers, the medics, the operations, managers, the custodial workers, the domestic workers, the caregivers. Who Make someone's life like that possible I don't think there is anything at all wrong with Edward Hopper copying other artists as he learned his craft. But I do think it speaks volumes that he chose to or felt he had to particularly as he became this emblem of Americana Incarnate, hide that he had had any type of early instruction or influence, and thereby taking credit over these other artists instead of bringing them into the fold with him the New York Times mentions that part of it was so revolutionary and captivating about hoppers work was his depiction of average everyday life in America and they conclude I. Agree quotes. If. Hopper claimed to be an absolute original uninfluenced by others, his greatest paintings work hard to convey a different image of their maker. Their studied awkwardness asks us to imagine him as someone who might indeed have started his career copying someone else as just your average American working hard to make good end quote.

"My good friend and coach Dave of the Marine Corps War. You've got a war face way. When we do our firearms Friday features we really like to try to do a comparison and contrast, I don't think we I had a gun that costs as much before. No way. Probably never get one again, but it's made by Nighthawk. It's the custom manufacturer. They I don't know. A lot of quantity, but they do a lot of quality. And this one with the critic on arm are read that site. Retails for $5300, and it is a delight issued its 1911 pattern based off the FBI 2011 frames. And chamber nine millimeter, So it's really fun to shoot. If you can find the M o, But, uh, what you find, and it is a fun gun to shoot. It is And I mean, I think because it's got that 1911 style. It's a lot to hang on to, but it's nine millimeter, so it doesn't have the punch of the normal 45 A C P that 19 Elevens are and it's got so many extras on it like the competition trigger, and it's heavy. I mean, it's It's a lot delightful gun. I don't know that I'd want one in my collection because I think I'd have to ensure it well, it cost more than my car. Yeah. One time in all my life. Yeah, we compared to the tourist G three. Which is the is that a new one from tourists. It is a new advertisers and talk about night and day. We'll do a degree. I mean, The night Hawk was a very fine gun Shoot is handcrafted perfection, and it's just There's nothing bad to say about it other than cost $5300. What the typical gun owner is not going to buy that as a first gun. And quite often, a question I have is, you know what gun do I get? I don't have a lot of money, but I need something that Reliable and will do the job. And that prompted me to pick up the car is G three. Which retail currently for 2 79, So $5000 to 2 79. That's a big difference. It 18 times different I could buy 18 versus one of the other. The common factor between the two of them is they both worked 100% of the time. And so too thin nine versus $5300. Um it's a lot easier coming to 79. So if you're looking for something that radio right now, and don't worry the whole lot about it. Should you be involved in some kind of situation where they have toa take your gun in for evidence. You're going to cry a whole lot. And Taurus has been doing a very good job of rebuilding their brand. Yeah, And this is the second tourist. I have about a tourist card. The other day, my brother that he laughed his head off anyway. It's a good gun and is reliable. We have the two magazine capacity. Flush. That magazine holds 15 extended with the sleeve. Hold 17. We have some options there. You don't do a lot of these comparing contrasts when you are doing a class, do you? Actually, I do I have the intro to shooting white have a variety of guns. So this this class is for you to form your own opinion. As what gun is best suited for you. The next class is the beyond basic. That is October 10th. And that's where you learned the field prevail in a violent encounter. And you find out about that at okay. See farms training dot com. Okay, the firearm training on Facebook and instagram and as always, guns for everybody and Mike Russ, Covert Agent eight shooting sports. I know a lot of guns are moving off the shelf, but you still have a good selection of nine millimeters, including the fabric. National 509 M. R D. What is setting this one apart from all other nine millimeters these days? Oh, it's just a really ergonomic gun Lee and it's the The grip has feels really good in your hand. It's got high sites already on it. So you Red dot You're going to still have your sights. They're called Ako Witness, And so that's very convenient. This is the compact, but it still holds 15 rounds in one magazine. It comes with a 12 round magazine as well. And I know those are on sale for 6 99 99 that raced sight as well. If you ever wanted to upgrade to a suppressor, you're going to need that. They don't tell you that when you're buying suppressors. No, I do not. But it threaded barrel on there. Like the number of targets that have been drilled you gotta lodge land. Huge saw these thing. Committee lodge is now important that is for Nighthawk to advance coal amac towards a build scenario. Michael Byron is also looking at the big picture for me. Personally. I'd like to see the thesis that we incubated back in two thousand ten being that this is a gold camp. And instead it's very early earliest stages of evolution that we can deliver on that. And if we can all the rest of success will will flow from also being successful in our satellite deposits and bringing those into the equation as as part of potential build in the future from the bed. What enticed doctor Byron to consolidate the calf and invest in his future was the outlook of the supply of pooled itself. We've probably found the biggest deposits closer to the surface, and that's pretty much a common theme that a lot of people are talking about as that happens. Frank mcgaughey who doesn't get any more local than Frank good morning. Good morning. Steve I'm alive that. Well, what's the story with this is is this pretty normal? It'll clear up a little bit this afternoon. I'm expecting burns off. We should be. Okay. All right. Because I mean all week. It's been looked like it was going to be a perfect, you know. Big crowds. I would think I fact a picture yesterday. When I came downstairs, I'm on the sick, we're on the sixth floor the fifth floor. There's a dining room. I walked into that tiny room. You would've thought it was day. The place was packed. Right. Well, you know, no football going on. This is a football town. So people are excited come up to the racist. The football bring up football the pitchforks and torchlights out on that front. The NFL offices are lucky they weren't burnt down. I if. You know, it's funny. If you got race in your life. It's it's a lot easier to turn the page on something like that. Right. I really felt for these people suing to try to get a game replay. The next day. I was worried about who's gonna win a double. And that was passed that, you know, the name, of course, you've heard Pete Nighthawk about the Frank and not just Frank brother, Pat as well. And of course, the pair of remarkable VC VC wins, and and Frank is your professional player. Right. Well, I've got a nine to twelve gig. We'll call it not a nine to five gig a member of the before post time club start early and try to wrap it up. Really? But yeah, I spent a lot of time with the horses. Like anybody successful has to you got to to be successful. Gotta work at it. Yeah. No doubt. Just came from Vegas. A course and still kind of in the the after shock of the NHCD, and I do have to ask before we dive into expectations for the card tomorrow. You had that that good solid foundation on Friday and felt like you were in great shape going into Saturday. I did and halfway through Saturday. I was in a top twenty and still had like eight picks ago, and I felt good. And I was sitting with the, you know at the table next to Paul and Duke and those guys while imposition both oppose entries were. And I mean, it just started raining longshots the last two hours of that contest. And I couldn't connect with anything, and we all wind up not making the cut which was a little shocking. I beyond surprised I thought it was sitting comfortably when when that happens, the, you know with the all these cap horses, and then not just kept horses there were horses that were. Coming in at twelve to one fourteen to one those are really helpful. Because there when you pick them, you're used them feel, you know, reasonable as opposed to desperate region for twenty eight to one shot you, and I I had seen you Saturday morning told you I thought it was okay. "People only saw another failed gold mine north of Yellowknife off in the northwest. Territories. But not Dr Michael Byron with his mining experience in some of the most successful gold projects in Canada, including lakeshore gold. He saw a unique opportunity so Nighthawk call consolidated one hundred percent ownership of the nine hundred square kilometer ins in lake property and the acquisition of the past producing COMEX gold projects now Byron's vision isn't as simply reopened a gold mine. It's to develop Canada's next gold camp. You're gonna go fishing for big trout. You gotta find that. Nice deep lake see this series, providing the opportunities that one would look for if they want to get a big big win. I tell people if you could envision the abbot greenstone belt, which is the real estate that houses the red lake camping intimidates camp if you can picture that one hundred years ago, that's kind of what I. See when I walk. Lake bill. It needs dollar spent. It means exploration activity, but it's showing us as we as we do more work. It's showing us that the those opportunities are there to be awake. And that's that's an exciting thing to be involved in. Unfortunately for the previous owners of call, and they overlooked with Byron could see an asset that was geologically misunderstood. And that is proving to be a multi million ounce project one that has significant similarities to a world famous gold camp, the world's second richest Sar Kheng. Gold system is different. And may still not still golden mile in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. They missed it. And if they had found that they would have been able to borrow one hundred years of mining and exploration development and not dimensions produced over sixty million ounces of gold today to use that as a as a as a footprint exploration of call Mark. But unproven theories don't build gold mine. Byron knows what the expected of Nighthawk get the drilling results out that we've done this yearbook thirty plus thousand meters have done a lot more metallurgical words showing us that we could get up to ninety eight percent recovery's higher grade material. We did some preliminary studies to see how the rock was able to a heap Leach operation, which is becoming more and more prevalent in northern northern parts of the world. So that offered another opportunity that was not even considered with Cormac production technology would enable Nighthawk.

"When you I use it one of the effects. You can get is a loss of consciousness. Really? Yeah. I actually had that happened recently. It was someone who had used it before. But he had not used it in a while. I was at a class reunion for my college. And so some of my buds, and I decided to go out after we had our, you know, luncheon and everything and have a little puff together and fellow came with us from another class, and he had not smoked in a while. And he took like one puff and we looked over. And he was just sprawled out on the on. RV sofa and people were panicking. But I knew that, you know, it would be alright he just needed something like some fruit juice to get his blood sugar up and a little time, and but that's the can dish. And you wanna be aware of is you don't want to be standing up and then take timber. These is seated and be careful because you can get what's called a head rush. When you stand up. It has to do with the blood pressure. You know, it it can lower the blood pressure a little, and so be very careful about that. That's the one concern. I usually have for people starting to smoke and eating it. You can really get away mean. Here's the thing. You really can't can't you. Yeah. When you eat it goes through the liver and deliver converts an inactive canal annoyed into an active canal annoyed. So you actually get a deeper heavier high from eating then you do smoking it. And so just be careful and be aware of that. Because I always say that, you know, marijuana cannot kill you. But if you get too much, you might wish you were dad, really unpleasant, Stephen truck. Driving in Virginia, first time caller. Hi, stephen. Hey, george. How's it going? Okay, sir. Thank you. So my question is can't see BB. Did you take this in a drug test? I believe it can be. I don't know if anyone is testing for it because it's not been an agent of what you would call intoxication if it has t h c it'll show up. Yeah. THC shows up. That's the one they're looking for the metabolite of THC actually through the urine. It's at comes through them. What it breaks down into is the sort of key to us. But I don't think anyone's testing for THC, I would say that. I mean for CBD the drug test. We need to have is to make sure that people have enough levels of these compounds in their bodies working for their health. This is a relatively new right now. It's a new science, isn't it? Well, it is because I it's just fascinating the whole story of how this was suppressed because of, you know, resistance to the effects of the high and the whole agenda and racism was sort of tied up in their using racism to get this law passed against cannabis with an Slinger back in the thirties. And then have it rediscovered because it was all very serendipitous. You know, it was taken out of the pharmacopoeia when it was made illegal. So it was just in absentia in terms of healing for decades and decades, and then you get this guy Robert Randall, he decided to go to a friend's house and smoke a joint and on the way home he notices that his vision has improved. He has glaucoma, and he starts to experiment finds out. It works. The government for making oughta drops. Now, don't they? There are some some. I think they're trying to formulate some drops from THC for that. But that was you know, we were off to the races. Once he found out at work and then. You know, other different kinds of nerve ailment patients came along and then aid fit. And boy, we really found out how effective it is. I remember interviewing during my local Nighthawk show in Saint Louis back in nineteen Ninety-six some people regarding medicinal marijuana. And then you know, we're talking twenty two three years ago. And they they would get so sick on pain, pills and other things. But when they switched to the use of marijuana everything worked for them. They felt better. It was amazing. And I was actually watching people on my show cry because it helped them Clint..

"And then start over a new movement of development comes to Swedish hockey, and you know, what I'm talking about twelve thirteen years ago and comfortably in North America back then and Scotian western Hockey League actually Spokane chiefs when the approach knew about but actually coming over and helping them out of North American influences back, then, you know, big thing was the the video, you know, for us to bake them different videos, which wasn't that great and big back in the day since we need European hockey. And also, the structure, I think, you know, when he's talking to, you know, a coach back then Swedish course, back then you're talking as a trainer trainer of ice hockey, not as much as coach. And you know, that was the big thing for them to. Bring me over and the involved in developing coaches and by doing that, obviously I never coach in Sweden back. Then, you know, had no idea, you know, what expect except, you know, starting, you know, working the way that I think the North American obviously North American influences because I never coast over in Sweden before you know, that I picked up a lot of things that's great Swedish locking talking about the way the ice practices and skill development as well, knowing which I think all the North American hockey, and the US hockey's been over a few times have an exchange for those guys in the sports talk in Cana looking at how we develop them skills. So that's Bill bridges Ricard. How many times have you interview with NHL teams the last couple of years say, you know, interview interview, I mean, I said probably a handful of times have been sitting down with different NHL teams and talked specifically, you know, but a little bit of future talking about everything from you know? The different positions with the team. And so yeah, but harmful type like was there one particular situation that you thought that you would be in whether as a head coach, or is insistent or something like that? Yeah. A couple of times, and it's being a little bit of a situation where obviously under contract I've been on the country last three years as head coach for national team. So, you know, obviously, I wanted to fulfill my my dude is on the contract and this year, I decided not to offer me a contract extension. I decided not to take their but to look around the corner a little bit, and obviously, and it's always the best league in the world. So of course, I wanna look at that avenue for sure. What's your view right now on positions are right wing left wing center. Right d- lefty Elliott Nighthawk a lot about, you know, the idea that, you know, position this hockey is on the horizon physicians are only wear you line up. And I even I look at someone like, you know, the success of the leaves Patterson who last year played as a winger and comes in this year Vancouver Canucks and flourishing as a standard and will win the Calder trophy as rookie of the year. Are we at a place in hockey in your mind where positions as we've traditionally known them mean less than ever? Great question. Jeff, I think we're steering away from that. I think steered away from you know, up and down the wingers, you know, responsible Centerman in the middle the defensive defenseman offense defense more to tell your hockey. And I think the way we're really trying to break the hardest thing right now, I think to hockey especially national archive feel this score goals. Scored goals is to be creative going looking outside the box. And and that's something that I feel is one of my strings always trying to challenge the truth. You know, so we obviously been fortunate enough to work with some great great defensive especially they can really join the rush and almost plans afford forward or be really involved in -fensive play where right there, you have an dimension of hockey that you know, made is not that common. You know? And then we'd be obviously really really successful doing that. So I think question, Jeff, I think definitely going to steer away from just you know, up and down wingers and defensive defense. I think it's more of a to tell her hockey. Okay..

"Do anything with him I think when he's one hundred percent and he knows he is that's when you'll see him on the court that could be. Halfway, through. The season yeah, exactly I think we're I think at best we're looking at maybe the end of December and I. Think warriors team again he's really just gravy to already a historically. Great team dominant team so if they have to wait all the way till after, the all star break. They, will do that now if, you, get boogie, cousins even let's say fifty to seventy five percent of what he was, that is extremely frightening thought. Even Seventy-five percent boogie cousins is fantastic especially in the postseason, I get. You but seventy five percent coming off an. Achilles I think that's a lot to ask for as well so we don't know exactly what kind of player we're going to get with the Marcus. Camby, are. In London I mean just the way that you've you've acted in Las Vegas Why why why can't you go get? A guy that's yours why do you have to go get, Brent Musburger a name if you wanted to get rid of Papa which is going to irritate the fan base because irradiates me and Flora's why can't you bring, on a guy and go through tapes of play by play broadcasts then have your guy instead of Musburger who I don't even? Know has has he ever. Even done in a on the radio and I was really. Frustrating it's, we're going to be really frustrated root for this team This year I'm going to of course but I? Just want to know raider fans away can't? Be are is he may get difficult he's not make I, don't think he's making it easy for me to go out and buy my ticket to a raider game it really is not I mean again the way that, he acts when he's in Vegas and the what what he says was in Vegas we've waited so this is so great this?
