RuPauls Drag Race Season 12 | Episode 10 Ru-Cap

"Hello hello and welcome to the RU Paul's drag race recap here on reality. Tv WRAP UPS. I'm your host Liana. Boris and we are here to talk about episode. What episode is this ten ten of Paul's drag race season? Well of course I am not alone with me is a man who I'm sure we'll now legally be changing his name to Brent the planet Brandt Welcome. How are you? I died in fell out when she said that and I was living for her all the more like I thought it was just a nickname and then when I heard she legally changed her name. I was like you go bitch. We love you and like I had a great time with her throughout this entire episode so it was very nice to be here. Yeah that follow through so committed I love it. Oh God yes well. Of course we also have a man which much like drag brings joy. He brings joy Amman Amman. How're you doing? I am also really really good. Super duper excited talk about this episode. the ending. I felt was like the only appropriate way to end an episode. Like this though I feel like this is just like an episode. Where you know. You don't often get those and drag races. I'm excited great. Yeah well we will definitely get into everything including the. Save the double save that we got this episode and all of the makeovers here which I'm really looking forward to. And then of course we will talk a little bit about the episode of secret celebrity drag race that also aired this week. Let's kick things off and get into what happened after the elimination. There's not a whole lot talk about here but you know you get a little bit more of the inner saboteur talk discussing widow and we are reminded of course brand that this is our top sits. Yes our top six and it's going to remain on top sakes for awhile which is also kind of crazy thinking. It's also our top five. Yeah that's true true. I didn't even think about that actually. Yeah wow that's why we're we`re. We're we're really close. Yeah we're really close and then also thinking okay so if somebody had gone this weekend I guess this will apply to next week. Like that is our top for which is kind of crazy. Assuming it's not you know Sp but I guess we'll see okay. Well did you say after the elimination to me like not that much going on? No you know. It's sad to see Widow go but like I think it was her time and I think that they sent her up pretty well so I think pretty well but I also think that they definitely through a little dirt on the coffin on the way out the door because they showed her like quote unquote giving up which I don't think she was giving up. I think she was pissed off When she was getting criticism from the judges and I felt like the editors went out of their way to make sure that we at home felt righteous. In the fact that widow had gone home like they WanNa make sure that we wrote came with the fact. That would've gone home because let's be real. She's a front runner for a while and then for her not win and not even make the top four and not even make three honest top six. Yeah I I think that they probably equally as stunned as we were and they wanted to make sure that we were not rioting in the streets. Yeah I guess that's true. There was a little bit. Did go off a little bit of this self defeatist attitude. But the you're right. They did emphasize especially the throwing the arms up. Or maybe because it was. Heidi was talking about it. But of course editor shows to include that part of my thought though and I had this thought throughout the entire episode was. I think this is a very sherry pie. Heavy episode especially based on the results of the challenge like Cherry Pie and Terry Mizzou like look exactly the same And so I kind of feel like some of the editing was kind of making for that so there might be some. I don't know maybe some weird stuff in there here and there but whatever. Let's jump into the next day in the workroom where we get our Maxi Challenge. Which is the superfan makeover at now. Amman they did this really cool thing early. I thought it was cool. Where they put the super fans or we're GONNA be made over kind of in a separate area and said Oh you're just going to be in the audience and then tricked them when they brought them into the room. So I mean maybe I'm putting on my hat okay but I always questioned the validity of shit like this because you have to sign some sort of released when you agree to go on television and I feel like I feel like there has to be something extra that you're signing if you're also agreeing to potentially have your appearance changed or obviously it took place over multiple days so. I feel like and like all day over multiple days. Yeah like I I thought maybe maybe they were able to be a little Like maybe admitted some things like they sort of like skated around was actually going on and skated around the truth. But I have to imagine that they had to know that there was. It wasn't just that they were going to be audience members because it was just so much that they committed to in a short period of time. Let me just live in my fantasy world. Amman it's definitely real will lose. I thought it was also finding say. Put little audience labels on them. Which now that I'm thinking about it. That's kind of like you know when you're telling a lie and Kinda like add extra onto it to make the lie believable. Maybe that's what they were doing here with a little audience tags. This reminded me of Big Brother Canada when those people got under the show. Instead of our beloved Kirsten McGinnis and then they said that they were out of the audience and they've gotten selected and how believable was that? Lie So no. I wasn't buying this at all and I was like yeah. I think what happened was they probably told these people you know. Yeah there's there's a chance you could be in an episode of drag race and because you to sign releases and stuff like that like I mean. There's all sorts of things that go into something like this and then a new. Maybe they needed. They thought that they were like Like a fifty fifty shot like it's damning like there's another group of six but then they were surprised to learn that it was just then. I think I think that's possible. Don't they knew that they were going to be the ones that were chosen? But I think maybe they didn't even know what the the episode was going to entail. I would totally believe that. Maybe they lied about like. Oh Yeah you get the chance to be on the show you get. You get a chance to meet the Queen's and be like An audience for a specific competition and then Lo and behold you walk into the workroom and then you are the competition so I would definitely believe I mean I mean they have to get it. Ok'd from these people ahead of time there. Okay being apart of drag race Getting into drag and having a drag makeover like and some people may not want to do that. Some people may not want to look silly on camera. I know that drag race fans by and large would but there's always people who are naysayers and you never know they can't tape something like this and then one of the people is like actually. I don't really feel comfortable doing this because of X Y and Z. My job my husband my my kids some whatever and then have to go back and reshoot something like they got this approved ahead of time so they had to know something anyway. That's the magic of Y'all just no okay. Well I'll living my magical by. We do. Get our wonderful Contestants here I don't really call them but There are super fans that are going to be made over. We have Bethany. Brace Janet the planet Nicole Shea who lay number two and tiffany so there was some discussion. I know online which I which I had I had not heard about and then watch the episode had like lots of fun and then when I was watching readings in the commentary people. Some people were upset that there were women that were chosen to be made over like super fans and I was like why don't really get Yeah so I don't know I just WANNA throw it out there that whatever. I'm not even I don't even like I don't even know what to make of those comments because this was just so fund me and I'm really happy with the women that they chose the show. Yeah and it was like it was the whole thing was super fans and game in. Aren't the only people that watch this show like? Yeah I'm on you know there's definitely a segment of the population. And you know like I'm not exactly the most absolutely progressive of the gay population. So like I understand these people coming from although I think they're fucking idiots The thing that drag is specifically for gay men and that it's always been for game and and it's just our little thing and they are very exclusive about it. They are not inclusive about it and of course we do not agree with that and drag. It's so fun to watch. These women have the time of their lives getting into drag revealing. Who they are. And if you can't recognize that you're just a little backwards and come on the program not little ally like these that come to your shows and give you money so that you can do this damn shit so if you want to give them a damn makeover real quick let it be like insane to me. It's it's drag. It's not that serious right. You're not what was it? It was during the presidential proposal. So good yeah. Plus they've made over family members before so is like at a well. Gene gets to do the pairing here so she pecks Bethany And then crystal. I don't know if this matters crystal gets Grace Sherry Pie gets Janet Planet Heidi Nicola. Dj gets shake. Who Lay number two and Jackie? It gets tiffany And it was just. It was so wonderful to see the super fans there. Because that's one hundred percent. Would I would be like I think it was a crystal Methods Girl Grace. Who was like on the verge of tears because she was so excited one hundred percent would have been me but anyway we get a lot of workroom stuff this episode. So I don't know if there's anything. Amman that you WANNA touch on from all of our work realme shenanigans. Here I mean Rupaul. Death this is on the end of the episode but I think Jada did a pretty good job here I feel like she matched everybody up With somebody that was matching their energy and every all of them were very excited to be there and I was happy. I was surprised at first that she didn't choose. Aren't we getting Superfan? Sam's I'm surprised to hear that she didn't choose the woman because as far as makeup was concerned. That can be a bit of a challenge. if you're not used to using paint that's not of your shade But I'm glad that I'm glad that if she wasn't going to get her then she did. At least give her to hide so. Heidi wouldn't have to worry about The makeup at least But I think I'll side of that like she did a pretty good job of matching everybody up. I think everybody was kind of perfect. Yeah I'm angry about that. I'm I'm also forgetting the names. I know you said then Leon while I'm talking. Do you think that you could type them in our little skype chat? Because I forget like I mean I remember Tiffany Whiz. I remember that's all I remember exactly. I remember Janet the planet with Sherry Pie. And I remember. I remember a tiffany with our girl. Jackie but everyone else. It was just like who are you again. I love you but who are you getting all right? We got it. Yes yes you're welcome. I don't have I have. They're dragging and later. It's okay I can remember. Actually I remember the Dragon US far more than I do. They're they're real names. Yeah because they called. They called them more by their drag names by their real names. Especially because how do you forget snacky Cox else Makiko like the grow could do the splits? I was impressed I know she was living in Ohio. She was yes. We'll talk about it. Well we get. Oh my God. Yeah we get gee-gee with furry helmets. Which as soon as I saw the helmets more hat. Yeah here we go. I think one of the biggest stories here is really Janet the planet which I know we talked about a little bit before But you know especially if you're the workroom we get her talking to Rupaul. Talking about being six foot tall and the practice she legally changed her name to Janet the planet. I mean she just seems like such an interesting person and I kind of wish even though we got to know her. I wish we'd gotten to know her even more. Yeah that's insane to me. Actually I think somebody that's a fan of our show. She's a fan of our sap. I think I saw a tweet during the episode that she actually used to work with Janet. The PLANET'S I'll have to ask her about About Janet but yeah she seems to be the most well-versed in not just drag race but the art of drag itself. And my what a shitty deal that ended up being for her and that she was the one that was paired with Sherry pilate. She's the reason that by even got screen time like if it wasn't for her like they would have just been going about their business as usual when it comes to editing her out but yeah I thought I really did find her very compelling to the point where I actually was like. Can we just replace her? We place area with our because I'd be much more invested in her as a competitor. Yeah she was great I agree. She was so intriguing to me. I just wanted to spend more time with her. I think that literally the people that produce drag race could do something with Janet the planet on a Web series. I would totally sign up for it and watch it. She had such a vibrant fun personality and she seems totally comfortable in her own skin. But you also feel like that. She's a bit of an old soul who wasn't always comfortable in your own skin. Which I in some ways can identify with like I. I love people like that but if face their demons and come out stronger for it in the end yeah seem very very like while. She was excited to be there. She wasn't like in your face like it was very like. Oh I'm so excited to be here everything about all of you guys. I'm so supportive of all of this. I cannot wait to get dressed up. It's going to be so fine. If we ever need superfan impression we know who to go to perfectly capsule but I love it. Yeah no Franky Granada for sure. Perfect the perfect sleeper fan. Yeah I thought it was. I think the other sort of main story that we get here is with us. Heidi's of superfan Nicole and sort of talking about her insecurities and I was really great especially with the work through where ru says you know. You're not born to blend and you're born to stand out and this concept of drag bringing joy I thought was just really cool like a mon- you said this the beginning of the episode but this episode was kind of a warm heart fell episode all the way around episodes packed with a lot of emotion and I was. I was kind of shocks that we did get to see as much content from the super fans as we did because sometimes when we have makeover episodes they don't really focus too much on The people that are getting made over They focused they just tend to focus more about the queen's and what their perspective is but we damn near got pretty much confessionals from these super fans and that it was just gave a lot more context To the competition and to just like totally took you out of the competition a bit like because Heidi sort of had to have two jobs in this episode. She not only had to be drag race contestant but she also had to be a bit of a therapist when it comes into coal and like sort of like trying to meet in the middle with her and I don't know if I'm jumping the gun a little bit when I when I mentioned this. Heidi does actually share the make the make overlook intended on bringing to the competition So I guess that they told them all that they were doing makeovers like any other competition and she had everything set up but of course because Nicole was a little bigger I'll put that she brought was not going to fit her. So that's why I mike when I said that this episode has a happy ending a sort of like I kind of sympathize situation because she brought stuff but she couldn't use it because of the way that production ended up. You know handling the show so I was happy that she was able to get one more chance at the very end so okay. Yeah I didn't know that I mean I kind of made the assumption that that was the case but we can talk about with some of the judging comments too. I just thought that was really well handled kind of the way that they did the whole thing. So all right. Is there anything else you WanNa talk about before we just jump into the runway jumping? Let's jump okay. Daisy Ridley was our guest judge who is a huge fan Which I didn't know I thought that was cool and I thought she did a pretty good job as our guest stretch this. I love daisy literally. Every time she came on the screen. Daisy daisy really fan. I'm so I'm a big star. Wars Fan I think Brent is too so it was great to see this like Sort of crossing over of worlds and I think that she also was a little similar to me Nicki Minaj and that she was a little bit more cerebral than I thought that she was going to be. She seems to really really watched these queens and really offer up some thoughtful and insightful critiques. I was happy that disability was asked to be a part of this episode. Yes there's no one who is more of a fan of busy Ridley than me. Only because I remember the excitement that I felt after watching star wars episode seven in what I thought could have happened to her character. Obviously I hated episodes. Eight and mostly nine nine was okay but I didn't love what they did with her character in particular. I don't love where they took care of drove her all. So I in some ways. I have like some Unrequited FEELINGS FOR DAISY. Ridley of what? I could have been so watching her on this episode of Drag Race and getting to know her a little bit more even when she was not necessarily in line with the panel. I thought it was a lot of fun Yeah yeah I thought it was good and I thought that her I mean just general. Being excited fat built the fit with the whole team episode because authentic exactly yes. It didn't feel put on definitely felt. Okay Brent tell me all about Heidi Aphrodite. Eighty and honey almighty first of all if there's going to be a name that sticks other than Heidi in closet. This is the one I love this name. I like boy. This works. Heidi effort eighty. And I'm the huge fan of Mira Sorvino. She wanted to Oscar for Mighty Aphrodite. If you don't know the reference and I love the fact that their spelling it A. F. R. O. Because obviously the original mighty Aphrodite e which refers to the I don't know Vista Roman Goddess. Or The I forget great. Thank you okay goddess of love and. I've never got a straight by the way but yes I love this name and I loved this pairing but my goodness when they walked out on the runway. I was like where is the family resemblance and they were giving her so much. Praise in the beginning during the judging. I thought for sure they weren't going to say anything. I thought that it was just going to be like we love you. You're amazing how he you're great and Nicole you're fabulous you're working at girl we love you. And then that's it but they. They gave her all of that and then they said now. Let's talk about the family resemblance and then I was like thank you because they're saying well they're saying what we are all are thinking at which is this doesn't look remotely from the same house of drag. I mean what is this like? I thought that she should have been in the bottom for the design of the outfits alone and obviously it makes more sense. Amman after you said what you said because you know you know for instance Cherry Pie doesn't just happen to have to tearoom Assu or whatever the hell outfits in her bag on accident like she knew they were going to do a makeover challenge so she brought those kind of things with her but something like this where Heidi has to use of outfits or materials that are not from some stuff that she previously bought are brought with her is is a part of the reason why we get some uneven results at the end of this challenge with regard to these two. But I'm really glad that the judges called it out because it did not look like there was any resemblance whatsoever not even makeup wise. Yeah the fan was interesting to see. How highly was gonNA affair with this family resemblance? Because she's had I struggle with her makeup. Its entire time that it's by her. She doesn't even know what she looks like she's creating. She's like recreating and experimenting with her own makeup throughout the entire competition. By the time you have to get to somebody else to do the same thing. It's like it's going to be you're still in experimental stages of is going to be a little bit different So it definitely came across and I so I while I sympathize with the look. Sort of like. She her having to rearrange things. Because it's not what she intended. What she did show on. Twitter wasn't what she wore either so I don't understand the choice that she made in like dousing herself in sequins and then giving Nicole pretty much adorable to wear is either. Both of you are going to be wearing sequence or both of you are going to be wearing dailies like if you're not going to be together in the face you at least need to be together in the clothes. And she looks pretty like The the worst part about this to me was that Heidi looked like the pretty sister because of the because of the secret mcgown and then like like that. Nicole wasn't getting the same amount of treatment. I wish they'd been a little bit more honest on the runway about it. Like why do you have your partner now looking as good as you Heidi? That's what I wanted them to say. Right yeah yeah I think it was challenging because her partner honey or was hurt. Nicole was dealing with those insecurities and it's so hard because the as okay like I'm just putting myself in the judges see I wanna Critique Heidi so how do I make it come across as I'm critiquing. Heidi and not honey. And it's a really sort of fine line to walk and I think that's part of the reason why you know. The critiques went away. They went for Heidi and honey because of that whole situation but I completely agree when they walked out I was like what am I looking like? Okay the hair looks sort of similar makeup. I thought actually looked sort short of similar at least in a passable way but to me the outfits were very very very very very different And so like you said on Mon. If she is going to have to scramble and find something else then it seems like an odd choice to be so incredibly distinct unless that was maybe like the only thing that she could do. You could tell them on that. Rupaul was annoyed by calling out. Heidi about like. Where did the time go like? What did you do that was roof roof being funny about it but Ruas pissed? Yeah Yeah and I was. I was talking about this with a roommate as we're watching too because if you tell them ahead of time that there's going to be a makeover challenge right and you allow them to bring Similar looks for that week. How much time are you actually giving them I? I'm not saying that there was no time. I was like a piece of me. Wondered if Rupaul was giving Heidi a harder time than it was appropriate to because if you're allowing them to bring stuff ahead of time which is exactly what all the rest of them dead than did they really. How much time did any of them spending anything besides talking? I think that's a valid critique. I think though the problem was is that Heidi's answer was I got to know her and we talked about disco. Andrew was like yeah. I know I learned that in the walk through the if Heidi's response had been Well we had to come up with the concept. I couldn't use the outfits that I had brought Blah Blah Blah. I don't know if there had been maybe more. I don't know like realistic answer. But also at the same time you have honey who really has some insecurity and you don't want to say on the runway like hey I couldn't use the outfit because like she's a different size like to point out on the runway might be really hard and if Heidi is trying to have empathy for honey. It's hard to to do that so I think it's a really tight rope to walk. Yeah it was But the gap the gap and the T- thing though now that I'm leaving they really have. Yeah it was like Oh see. That's like a totally easy won. Miss that I think I can understand like getting some serious critiques for so especially when we have such a amazing top sex that we're dealing with it. It does come down to those little details. Which is kind of what happens with the jockey and snacky car so. It's not that Jackie. I think. Did something inherently wrong It's just maybe it's not up to snuff. Compared to some of the other looks that we see on the runway this week. I'm on it was. It's not it's it's serviceable. You know what I mean. Ever since I've heard Brent use it all the time but it's like I I think the they did they will great from the neck up you know and I definitely see a bit of a family resemblance. I feel like some of the of the of the little. I don't go with makeup terminology but the stuff around the is. I could see what she was doing there and I mean she really lucked out and getting the partner that she did because I think she's probably like the most charismatic out of any of them. I mean maybe with the exception of Janet Planet she was just like so ready to just dive in and I think that her energy really helped sell what might not be a particularly stellar. Look but because the energy was I mean because of the fact that we are so down to the wire it's still going to like not end up working Jackie's favor but I feel like if this Philip if this were if this competition taking place a little earlier in the competition. I wonder if Jackie would still be in the bottom Brad. What did you think about Jackie and snacky this week boy? I did not care for this. I thought this was worse than what they were giving them credit for. I thought that the drag looked really small really small like there was nothing big in fun about it like she was in like a waitress cocktail dress. Like there wasn't a lot to it. It was what Rob Ross said. Where Yeah like. I said I do not believe it was good. But if you'RE GONNA go with with the thought that it's good in was good everything else or everyone else was trying to be great and I really felt like Jackie. Just mailed it in here like okay a pantsuit and cocktail dress. That's what you're doing for your family resemblance and like I thought that the hair actually was the worst part of it. The hair looks like helmet hair. It looks like it's literally been sprayed with aqua net and frozen in place. There's no body or moving. I don't even particularly care for the shape of it like we always talk about how G G has like helmets. But this look like helmet hair like kick look good. The makeup I don't think is even close And I don't even I really don't think it is Maybe around the is a little bit but like I don't feel like they look. I feel like the the I make up shadow on. Jackie is so much heavier then. What is on what's her name. I'm looking tiffany and the the outlets while there is a little bit of mirroring with the color line it. It doesn't quite do it for me. Because the because the outfits are dissimilar like in order for for mirroring to work outfits have to be the same shape of the same size like where Sherry pies like red and gold and golden red and in there the same type and you you look at them and you get it But this I again. I thought she looked like I thought it looked like Jackie was the rich sister and it looked like tiffany was the less fun less sexy one. Is anyone else getting not now? All I can see his helmet hair on smacky so like that. Not One hundred percent agree with. I think there's a little bit more I guess they do the kind of look like second cousins. They are family but a little bit more distant the Bengals or the am earrings look very similar. The nails of the same To I can see the cheek about the show being a little bit heavier on jockey but the pattern and the color palettes look this. Am I do wonder if how much Okay so. Let's say you know you're going to have to make somebody over and you don't know exactly the size. That person is going to be. Maybe your outfit. Decisions are sort of influenced by that. So maybe Jackie was like Oh. This is an outfit. Because it's shorts so you can easily Taylor the length of the shorts if needed or the like. There's some reason for that also. Sorry I thought it was. I thought it was. I thought it was a Like miniskirts shorts shorts. She does a split. You're right you're right. I'm sorry I forgot about that. Well whatever I still I still hate it. It doesn't matter if it's shorts or not. That's even worse. You're wearing shorts. On the on the runway of rupaul. Drag race. I mean so. So did you think than a man that these two were the clear bottom to looks with Heidi. Jackie being in the bottom two. I unfortunately I really think that there could have been a case made for g g because if you WANNA talk about mailing it and that's straight up late in that's like I mean I guess it was kind of smart on her end in a way because she created such a big look no matter what size somebody was it. Was it probably would fit most people but there was nothing to that. Look I mean even the makeup was just like okay like like I didn't I didn't get it. I didn't get it from cheeky. I ever did get something from Jackie from the neck up because I take the critique about the offense I do The helmet hair. I don't necessarily see because whenever queens go like seventies look the always go for this helmet here like I remember Valentino or something similar on season nine and got such praise from the judges for it like with the same kind of wig so like I just thought that was just like seventy dragway in my mind So I didn't. I didn't take any offense to that but I mean in A. I guess you'd like I said before when it's down to the wire like this. I can see why she was placed in the bottom so I think we said that these were the two bottom pairs I we can. We might as well just talk about next if you're okay with that. I am annoyed about the judging and the way things went at the end of this because gee-gee was fourth here. She was in the bottom okay. She was clearly in my eyes. The number three out of one two three at the bottom and route called her safe right away which is going to lead her to believe that there were four tops and bottoms. No bitch you were in the bottom and I hope that after watching this episode back. She realizes that she was in the bottom once again. 'cause it doesn't annoy me like. I feel like they really gave her a pass. I love the fact that God. What's her face the Star Wars on the panel? Daisy Ridley. Sorry. I blanked under neighbor second. I love that. She basically admitted to being pressured to go along with the panel. And she's still wouldn't she was like I guess. It's like an unpopular opinion. But I was not a big fan of this and then you have. Ross just like defending it to no end wine. Yeah I just loved you. Good they're still sucking her dick so whatever. I I I apparently she can do to run like like I said ru even called her safe like they didn't even make her sweat at the end. Which is what I wanted. I wanted them to make sweat again and realize hey there are people who are doing better than you in in the competition. Right now isolated. As far as the looks go t G. I think the makeup is smart and the outfits are smart but this is like the equivalent of the kid in grade school who turns in a blank piece of paper when asked for an essay answer by the teacher and then says actually that was my answer because yeah the world means nothing like you know like okay like. That's smart but yet I'm still annoyed by it so I completely agree. It did. Give me a very much Alaska. Allstars season two vibes. Maybe just because it was black and white but it was like this very much feels like you're phoning at end like what what what is going like. Okay the makeup skills I get it like G G is gorgeous but I think it was Jada who even said like Shi'as Gorgeous so you put a gorgeous girl and make up. She's GonNa look gorgeous like that's the way that that works so i. I really really wish that they had made it clear that she was in the bottom here on especially considering what everybody else bribe especially considering what she said. Last week they showed that to us for a reason and then it was like they're going to give her a pass gorgeous. Omega remember number she said last week I will not be in the bottom again and yet she was and we got no payoff for that whatsoever. Yes she should have been in the bottom here. I mean the bottom to necessarily to the bottom right to the bottom just like come on. That's not fair that you can get away with this now. She talked a little bit and talked about how we were. I was hoping that this would be you know my mom and I would get to do this together but I think she was prepared regardless or whomever it like this outfit would work. I'm like pretty much anybody so anyway. Fine g good and bb bad. Also with I I. They were going Gaga over. That and I was like that's just so on the nose. I feel sick. I really boring. I wouldn't remember he's recapping. He likes stuff like this. Okay you love what you love him on my heart. It was stupid but like I chuckle and I like that kind of stuff. I was watching the episode with me and he was like. Oh my God. She's going to be bad and then when that was the name she's like I so called Rue says. Don't try and reinvent the wheel. You know like just comment. The best answer is the the the most common so yes. That's right the wheel is fine. Now let's take a break to your word from our sponsors and we are back. Well let's jump back to Jada and jazz essence hall of the Essence Hall family and Jada ended up winning this week. Did you think that this was deserved? Yes and I was really glad it didn't go to Sherry Pi. Yeah I was really worried. There was going to go to Sherry Pie and because remember the time that they take all this. They didn't know what was happening with Sherry pilot. They could have given her the wind and the Queen's would have been fine with it and they would have celebrated and like we would've felt really icky at the end of the episode. I felt like this was the clear winner and I was nervous that they wouldn't give her the wind because she got the win last week. And it's often on repulsed drag race that they give people back to back wins and she is FAA nominal. She is amazing. Jada I stand you like I. I swear to God Jacob when the season she better win because she is absolutely amazing the fact that she can take a girl who looks so unlike her yes. She's pretty but but she doesn't look like her she's a white girl and at that she is an unsteady white girl who has never really walked in heels. Very much. Didn't really like them. Kinda thought Jada the entire way to the point where these queens had a ladies within who were like Adam here I wanna live. My fantasy in. Jada wasn't getting that and I'm sure she might have regretted her choice a little bit at the beginning where her her partner was a little. Bit more introspective and you know had opinions of her own. Wanted to make those opinions known. Jada is a firm Queen where she was like no. We're doing it this way. This is how you gotTa do. And if you're if you're worried about it then you're already defeated like Jada doesn't come from the school of Quito. Von Do where they asked what? Oh why were you wearing the biscuits every week? And she was like I was just prepared in case I needed to lip sync. I wanted to be able to dance and they were like. You're preparing to fail. Jada does not prepare to fail. She came to win. She shoots for the stars and I like like if she was playing a reality show like not like a competitive reality. Show like Big Brother or survivor. She would be like the the Tony because she would be a big baller player. She wants to go out there and absolutely kill each and every time she doesn't care if she becomes a bigger and bigger target. This was phenomenal because I couldn't believe she made this and not only that for the makeup to look as good as it does with the whigs skills that she has to make. That look like seriously. How do you make this white bitch look like how they just phenomenal to me? I'm sorry I keep using. That word phenomenal. Because she's just so amazing in the fact that she was basically our narrator throughout this entire episode and giving US opinions on everybody else and telling us about her struggles with their own superfan and she was also like. I'm like the drag queen to the super fans because I'm babysitting them. Your welcomes like. She's so funny I just she can do no wrong in my eyes. I can't wait to see her win this. I'm I'm just picturing Jada up in a tree in her spine. Gee Tony compare out on my mind. Well how did you feel about eight this week? Okay so I think that the week. I don't know if she won this challenge. Definitely in the top definitely should be commended. For the fact that yes you gotta you gotTa chocolate woman and you gotTa Vanilla woman standing next to each other and you can still see the resemblance and the fact that we got to see so much of her coaching Bethany through this. And like you said Brent like she was like no. We are doing this too well and she did not let up like Bethany was like I don't know about these hills and like I feel like if it were any other queen they might have let their superfan Taco a making them all the way with with their with their vision by Jada was like no. No no no no no no I chose you. You're going to do this. I know that there's something deep inside of you. That has it and you were not no. Let's let's let's get our shit together and I loved that because I was like you would think. Oh superfan you WANNA take it easy on them. They didn't sign up for this like you did. Well actually no. They did sign up for this. I'm sure it's not something back. They're saying like when they get made over so be prepared. So you're you're here. We'll make the best of it so I believe that Jada was the star of this episode. Yes I read the whole the whole little bit about her babysitting kids and talking to the other super fans and trying to make sure they had a great experience. I liked that because I like that. She was about her business but she also was able to recognize. I mean these are just normal people that are on the show with us to have it. They're going to have a good time. Let's let's let's show them a good time so I think that she had a fantastic edit and I. I'm not complaining about her winning because what it does now is tied up with Digi good and makes things interesting for the end of the area. And I don't know I like I said I don't know if she won this for me but I I'm not mad that she did. I think I agree with Amman a little bit more. I Love Jada and I want her to win this season. Like if you made me pick somebody right now. That needs to win Rupaul. Xdrive grace this season like Jada is the first name that would come out of my mouth because the fact that she like rent like you said was able to make this way bitch look like her is absolutely amazing and not only that but Jada 's attitude just makes me so happy inside Jada is i. Will you know I'm like pick going to pick myself up like we're GONNA work through this? We got this. We're GONNA do this and the appreciation that she gave for you know being able to make over the super fans and be there and be supportive is just phenomenal out of this world like I absolutely love it and of course like the looks this week. Gorgeous makeup gorgeous. She is gorgeous however who I think should have won this week and I'm curious if you and I have the same thoughts Was Crystal Method because I think the fact that crystal did this frigging gender. Flip of Bert and Ernie look is insane. Like there's something so incredibly artistic about what she did. This week that for me I think pushes her a little bit over the edge and I think I would have given the win this week to Saul not dead. Chill okay. I'm on Yes. I agree one hundred thousand. I don't give it to the weird queen this week. Give her her coins. She absolutely deserved it. She took it outside of the box. But it wasn't to outside of the box that you will like. What fucking box is this. You understood immediately. What she was going for the makeup it look and people were in the. I'm not sure which one is crystalline. Which one is is is OPAL and I. I agree like you couldn't tally. Because the makeup is so heavy it works. I mean you had a gender flipped Ernie and Bert. Two people that are considered to be iconic. Lgbt characters but not entirely because it's never been confirmed to the fact that she was able to just you know what let me just have own interpretation of them? It's just like these. These are the iconic lgbt characters that we know and love. And I'M GONNA give it to you in this special point of view. I love the fact that she that their faces were Were painted and I love the fact that their arms were fabric. All of the jewelry all of the all of the details the flannel the CI. Like how did she find those shirts? How she does are the exact same colors that burden. Ernie wear everything was perfect and I just the way they committed to it on on stage and everything. I just something that you did. Not Expect and compete. She delivered and it was clear and concise. There was sustained and it was. It was a point of view that you don't often see and yeah maybe you don't always want to give it to the word coming. This show has sometimes it has issues with giving. Shits Weird Queens. We just crowned award winner. So maybe all weeded out. And they're looking for the next best thing which I don't know why though Biji good or whatever. I just feel like this is like this. That was dragged that was ultimate drag this week and she. I think she clearly deserved the win. This time around rants yeah. I can't agree with that and I respect you guys'll opinion and it's fine. It's fine. I thought she was clearly three a three. I thought she was in the top but she was number three for me and this is the reason why because he didn't read his drag to me. It read as costume. And maybe you don't care that there's in my is a difference between those two but I think there is a noticeable definable difference between a Halloween costume and drag and this felt like Halloween costume with the makeup. It did not feel like it took in. Don't come for me. The same amount of effort that Jada essence hall that makeup skills with her queen to make her look like she came from the same family without plastering it onto her. I I thought that was foreign above. What crystal method was doing here and I also take issue with the fact that a mom was like you clearly know what's going on here obviously not because Ross had to ask what the fuck am I looking at so. I don't think that that's necessarily true. The in a good way away fun. Yeah I'm again. I'm not coming for him. It's not like the failed the challenge. They did amazingly well. I had a great time with it. And it's not. I also take issue with the fact that I'm onsite. Well it's outside the box. But it's not so so far outside the like no hunting down the block off the street to the check cashing place like this is like so far away from the box into universe. But it's still fun. It's just that I don't think it's the winter and that's okay like I felt like this to me. This was okay. They were applauding crystal. For sever than always saying you know what we say when you come on rebels drag race to show us who you are but I also felt like this was the easy thing for crystal to do something like this to do the heavy or clown real that she veers too sometimes which to be fair. She has been getting away from in recent weeks. And we've been loving from her so I guess I'm GonNa stand her because she is a queen of makeup skills and can basically do anything. But I wasn't as impressed by you guys but I still loved it. I think for me it okay. Do you guys ever have like? Sometimes you see a piece of our work in a museum or in a store or something and you're like I don't know why I love this and I can't stop staring at it. Let's feel about this. I can understand where you're coming from with the like. What is the you know the the line between something that is maybe more on the costume side versus more in the drag world. But for me I love the art of this and I love the fact that she was able to contour different colors of yellow or different colors of orange like that is a drag makeup. I think is super impressive of DASS. It is amazing to me the fact that I didn't even notice before that the arms are covered with cloth like Burton. Ernie that is so fucking. Coal don't thinks of something like that. So just unshirkable audacity alone like I understand why she's challenging for the win here again for me. I would've gone with Jada but I wouldn't be mad if this was the winter. If that's what they ended up going West but they would have. I felt like if she was going to be the winner they they would have needed to give me a few more editing. I knew she wasn't the winner. By the way the entity was going Which in some ways. I'm kind of a little bitter about because I would have liked like I basically knew it was between Cherry Pie. Jada I was like basically at the end I was like thank God. It's not cherry pie like I wasn't quoting the fact that crystal wasn't amongst the top. Yeah Yeah I really just thought that. It was a feast. You know what I mean like. I just thought it was just so much to chew on and it was just. It was just an invigorating and yeah I mean it sure. It's a little bit on the costume side but crystal method is on the cost side. And that's that's a if there was if there was anything that she was going to do to make somebody else over. I would never have thought that it would be you know what I mean because while because a wild Jada did a fantastic job. It's I I don't remember it. The way that I remember Kristal Kristof his job and the same thing for Sherry Pilic Cherry Pie. Did a fantastic job with that makeup because that did not Janet it did not look like Cherry pies a little sister. It really did so. She did a fantastic job is as far as family resemble respond. Resemblance goes but I just think that crystal sort of took that extra step that none of the other queens dead and I just that's setting it apart from me. Yeah I mean it's definitely outside of the box or the sesame street I guess and just as a as a no before we talk about Cherry Pie briefly Mike Bloom did message me. And he said if we ever do a live. Rha P. B. NBC show. We are dressing like this. My mic also apparently vary like also the fact that crystal meth that had such a great partner in grace where she was just living her life out there. A lot of the other bitches. I think would not have been so enamored about being like painted like Burr from burner. You know what I mean like. I don't think of them would have been like so hip to this. Probably biased for that too like I. I fucking loved Sesame Street as a kid like I was sess too so I'm sure that has a little bit to all this too. I'm the Disney game. Loved Sesame Street Street of it no I do. I do wonder if that had been me like. What would my reaction have bank? I was waiting for that. A little nervously of you know of grace of and like what the fuck. Why am I DRAG? Queen? I'm looking like I look like a clown. But nope she didn't do that okay. Well let's talk about Cherry Pie and Terry Mitsu brand. Because they did look as a mom pointed out exactly the same show alike. I couldn't tell who was who came out and I really couldn't tell who share and WHO's not. I really couldn't. I literally had to like okay. Wait that's Sherry right okay. Yeah that's Sherry. I took me a second. They were so amazing. I I hate giving Cherry Pie props. And we don't have to spend very much time and her by God. Dance looked good. She gave Janet the planet all the family resemblance in the world. And I really thought for a moment that she might be the winner. It was that talent right there to have to be able to do that to somebody's face and just completely transform their image that way And they had like a little stick as well with being waitresses and having the little props on stage with them And you know during the walk through really stress to her that she registers as old and how it's important for sort of shed that image and I didn't really get. I didn't get old from the two of them. You know what I mean. I definitely got older time on which is signature. Cherry Pie AS Roma's point out but I didn't get old when they came down. I got you know too late in the diner taking orders and they looked related that you nailed it so if she did a good job yeah. They looked related in the sense that they look like identical twins. That's that's the one comment that I will give like. I really honestly could not could not tell them apart. Yeah okay so the superfan lip sync is what we get next. Which I thought was kind of like it was fine. I gotTA ZONE OUT DURING IT. But the women looked like they were having fun. Which is Great Opel seriously killed it like it was a little bit like. Oh Sean tell you all stay so. Mary said that I was like Oh. They're not eliminating like oh they're just talking about the super fans. Oh my God Ida frontex that was like hey like let me know as soon as you watched the episode and so when this started the lifting start if they do shenanigans where like the superfan lip syncs and like somebody goes home because of the Superfan or something I was prepared by like some twist turns out it was just a double saying it was like all right. Yeah exactly like it would've died okay. Well Gina wins the challenge here. Which like you guys pointed out her third win which girl and then we have the lip sync between Heidi and Jackie Amman. How did you feel like this? Do you think that I don't know? How did you feel about this whole thing? I thought it was good. Sometimes with these double Sean Hayes. And they don't they don't happen often but the thing that worries me about them is like somebody the clear winner here and because of the fact of how scheduling works. This is going to be a double Shaun tait anyway. But now it's bad because somebody should clearly should have gone home and you just had some sort of like edited the best that you could but I didn't get that vibe. I WANNA see felt like the two of them. Approach this lipstick from two different point of views. I mean you guys Jackie in the comedy routine which sometimes get a registered as like a bit of a cop out or as like you either do too much and it's like okay like this is just. You're not taking this seriously. I think she did a good job. And you know Heidi's a dancing queen so she's always going to turn it out but I think that it was a pretty levelly matched lip sync. So I kind of saw the Double Sean. Payton coming. A bit of it has to do with new. How a new where. The finale was supposed to land. So we're going to hold up. The numbers aren't adding up. Something's GonNa but something's about to happen but it wasn't like I wasn't able to tell I was I was like seriously like wondering who the fuck is going to go home because the two of them are really neck and neck right now. Yeah I could tell. I'll I think that Amman's right. It was built into the episode whenever you have this kind of an amazing song as the lift sink. The show is preparing because they know that there are just certain songs like drag Queens are always going to kill and this was killed by both of them they were really really good And I knew instantly once. They told Heidi that she was safe. I knew the Jackie was also saved because they gave Jackie that preys on the judging panel when Michelle was like she was like Freaking Gilda. Radner up there like. They wouldn't let that in if they were about to eliminate her so you knew the Jackie was saying I was just waiting for Rupaul to say it they also did it in a different way. Usually rawls like Shanta. You both stay but this time. She was like Heidi you stay. Jackie girl it's been fun. We liked your magic tour and we're about to get a little bit more of it because you stay like I. I enjoyed that very much. Yeah I guess he did it to like really Shaker. You wanted to ask you to really feel the pressure of it all because she just been in the bottom already so yeah I was still living in my fantasy world where I thought that the super fans had no idea there being made over so I was like Oh. She's going to go home because even they had the hug. Where Heidi you got to walk all the way to the back and like you guys harder about you know. They did the whole thing it was like. Oh that's so then. Of course it was a you know a non elimination. I think was a lot of fun because of the sort of two different approaches. The one thing I could not stop staring out though. It was high eighty with those sleeves when she was like windmilling them around. I thought that was so. She was trying to get her cocoa trees. Yeah that was that was. I couldn't stop staring at Heidi's WIG line. I kept like she was with the net hair around everywhere. I kept waiting for it to fall off the fact that she had that. Shit pinned and taped in there. So well girl. I give you major props for because I can't stand it when wigs fly up on the runway during the live sinks in the fact that she was working her ass off. But it's still sit on her head girl. You better work Completely agree and Jackie doing the humor. Like Gilda radner approach. I thought was also pretty fun. It made like a neat contrast with the two different approaches and for an Amazing Song. So here we are with a non elimination episode. We are still at our top six slash five and we will next week most likely be down to our top five slash four of which could be. Pretty Lake. Oh my God. I don't even know what to think or feel literally don't even know what's GonNa Happen Now. Like I feel like this was like a bit of a reset in my brain lake. Obviously not all of them are on the same playing field. But I honestly filling gets sort of anybody's game especially with what we know about Cherry Pie so this is actually I mean i. I was sort of bummed at the beginning of the season. Because like Oh my God this sherry politics like ruined everything but now that we know she's pretty much a non factor from here on out. I'm like This is interesting again. What's going to happen? Yeah and I agree with a like a such a solid group of girls it has. This has been a really fun season given what happened. Obviously really quickly. I do interrupt but Cherry Pie obviously not going to make the grand finale. So this is striking to me because we're at the top six and that means that two of Jackie. Heidi and crystal method are going to make the final four if they do a final four like that because Jerry. Pye Isn't there and so and somebody else isn't there so only one of them cannot be there. Two of them are going to be there if they do a top for those home next episodes. That's it I'm going to find a forest. I mean well. There's a part of are they going to do like a top three light you know like I could see Ruderman like fucked up top three but I really hope they do do a top four. It's kind of like really really up in the air because we don't even know what they're gonNA do in terms of filming because true that down so yeah I mean those. These are all like good points. Because let's let's work through it right so let's assume we lose someone next week and then we lose someone the week after so then. Does that group Agra before do they become the top three because like a month? You know you pointed out. We don't know what the finale is. GonNa look like unless any of you guys have any insight. I think Mike Bloom actually put up a poll. Awhile ago I don't know. Where does he tweets so much but it was like? What do you think is going to happen? Is it going to be an announcement? Do you think there's actually going to be some sort of lip sync competition? They don't know they don't know let's be like there's still like they're like us they're just like waiting for the world's reopened just like just pure speculation on my part but if I had to guess I would assume that they would probably follow the lead of other reality shows like survivor that are choosing to do Virtual Finales and so. They'll do that but I could see something like because virtual drag shows are all the rage nowadays because no one can go out to the clubs so I wouldn't be surprised if these queens that are in the in. The finale have a small team of people that get put together to create lift think performances Because gee-gee good was already doing that like as soon as the shutdown happened. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a final four. And they all independently create their own liftings. And then Rupaul like decides from there like I don't. I don't know interest. I don't know the so the ink masters. Apparently this is according to PIA on twitter. Inc Masters canceled their live finale. All three finalists received a cash prize. So I don't know if they would do something like an insane also are already came off the hills that Arthur ash and again. I don't do that shit again on that again. Yeah so I guess we'll just have to stay tuned It's possible could just like have them each do a lip sync like virtual of sink and then just name the winner like not not through a lip sync competition but just like you know to to quote Unquote Impress Roo. One last time and then name a winner like they did back through seasons one through eight well and that would make sense. They could do a top three right because then it doesn't have to be bracket you just play you eliminate Cherry Pie the final three. You do it that way. And then you have the winner announced. I could definitely see something like that but then. Oh yeah okay. Okay yeah the point yes. Yeah because if they do do the final four in but that was never mind never mind. Okay Yeah Okay Okay untucked. This week was boring so I don't know if anybody would say actually I didn't watch it again because again it taped after it's not. Dvr It's not taping untucked and I'm really annoyed about it because you re and a half hours. I don't know why it's because it's my my my. Dvr Is taping secret celebrity drag race but it for some reason it's not grabbing untucked. I don't know why it's not. It's drag race. Hello well next week. We get the mini challenge of puppets is back who think God so excited and our main challenge is going to be a one woman show with whoopie. Goldberg is our guest looking. Okay okay that it was how coincidental it was. That both Heidi Jackie war seventies outfits seventies lifting. Get your hat. People kids if they were like we have to make this team too so the two bitches of the disco outfits. You're going to be left singing right. Okay let's talk about secrets celebrity. Draw Grace Brian. How did you feel about this episode? This was a lot of fun. I didn't have as much fun as I did last week. With the three guys who were on the show but I still had a fantastic time. I couldn't believe it when Vanessa Williams walked out on again. I'm forty five years old so I was alive when Vanessa Williams was crowned the first black Miss America right was Miss America. Miss USA. I forget Yes Erica and I reserved on. Her crown was taken away from her. I remember being in the car with my mom and we heard the news on the radio. We were like you know. Traveling somewhere and they. They said her crown was taken away on the radio. And I was like why we knew that. Yeah and I'm almost like because they. They found these nudie pictures of her. And I'm like and like she won. How can they take it away from her? And no concept of the world at the time when I was eight years old but Yeah she she is the epitome of a good comeback because she lost everything and then came back stronger and has been giving us the best for last for the past twenty five years and we are loving her for it. So I love this Williams. Also I did see on her wikipedia page. It's been updated where they have all of her titles so mismatch missing. Orrick Missouri Cues America's next celebrity is right there at the top which I love I'm a mind. What did you think about this episode? I really enjoyed this episode. I made my heart warm then. All the contestants were black women older black men was a nice touch Lonnie love listen. I love her but I'm so appreciative. Of just how much emotion she was willing to share with us but she was going through something and it's episode soon in tears every other segment. I'm like what's going on Mama like. Are you okay like but she? She was clearly having an effect on her and I am glad that she was there. Felt like she really needed it. So I think that it is a much more Heartfelt and emotional more warm of an episode than the premier And I feel like they might be ramping it up. You know in terms of like the secret celebrity -ness of it all because I'm not as familiar with tammy roaming because I don't watch any. I don't watch basketball any of that. Yeah I do. I did know who she was So it looks like at least for me. I feel like they might be climbing Stare and how these how well knowing that celebrities are going to be because all three of these people. I was definitely more familiar with than last week. so it was. I thought I thought that it was really really cool. I thought that was just so. She wish her energy was so infectious. A love the fact that her and Eliza we're partners because I felt like they just they just felt like kindred spirit to me. She need a cocktail. All of that was just so funny. I take your point about Vanessa Williams. I'm also a bit of a Vanessa Williams Stan. I was first introduced to her through a little movie called Family Johnson Families Family vacation and I loved her in that and so I just yeah. It's just I felt like to actually have an idea of what the show was about. This one a little bit more smooth to me. I love the fact that they chose to do Larussa Coll- After that was a nice touch for the for the three of them as well. I just love this episode. All around I thought it was really really cool. Yeah I'm a Liana really quickly I Have I love Vanessa Williams but I loved her so much because I have an award show fan. You know how like I'm on is at Disney Stan. I'm like an award show Stan. I got an award show Gabe and so there was a time where Vanessa Williams was nominated for best supporting actress in a comedy series at the Emmys and it was for ugly Betty and there were it was like Amy Poehler and a bunch of other people and any polar got all of the women who were in the category to these weird eyeglasses. Like one had like like Sunglasses like these big glasses. One had like a monocle. One had like a little like little like disguises. Right okay. Then they're going through all of them and they're like you know any polar for a Saturday night live and you know like Julia Louis Dreyfuss for whatever it was like six people who are all supporting actresses and then Vanessa Williams and Vanessa Williams not only doesn't have the little outfit on that everybody else who was in on the gag did but she's also staring at the camera like I'm too famous for this shit. I watch wait this out. This is good said. Yeah that's the Williams. We love you and I but I I didn't know who the fuck tammy Roman was. She was a lot of fun and I loved her energy. Throughout this episode. I'll agree with them on on that but I didn't think she was a very good drag performer. Because when she came on the on the stage you could definitely tell the difference between Vanessa Williams and Lonnie love and somebody like Tammy. Roman who clearly doesn't have much of a stage background because Tammy wasn't giving us drag drag up sings. She was just sort of lip. Synching like you'd lip sing to the spoken word. Like her mouth wasn't big. She wasn't giving energy. She wasn't doing it extra like it was just like mouthing the words do you know where. I'm coming from not feel you. I think that if they both had a better idea of what they were supposed to do. And the fact that Vanessa Williams is a pageant grow already pageant girl So she's sort of like had she knew how to To carry herself on stage more so than the tammy would have and her and Rupaul have been friends for decades so going on here. Tim Forehand still. She was a judge right inside has been a judge George Strait. Yeah so without going up but I I was actually really interested. I was just thinking about the logic behind this episode being the second episode versus the first episode. I don't know maybe if this is kind of what they're going for is like Oh. We either wanted to pair this with the like makeover challenge because it was all women we have like women as competitors. Or because of Vanessa will I? I knew all three of these people. I did not know any of the people. Why New Niko but just I knew his name whereas like I was familiar with all three of these people so I thought that was kind of an interesting choice because obviously none of these have to be an order but but anyway and it was a great thing Asia Trinity Melissa Back on our screens as well. I think God Asia when she came out Let's let's make these butterflies lake fly or something we we can teachings butterflies how to fly. Yeah there was no good. What a good sense of humor you like have to Latin. We're halfway through your celebrity drag race so we'll have two more episodes of that coming up in the next couple weeks. I think that wraps everything up for us. So let's get out of here brand her you doing. What are you up to? I'm going to be podcasting this evening. So probably after you guys. Listen to this. And it's downloaded into the feed but there is an amazing game of Sequester. That's going to be played tonight between a bunch of twitter and youtubers and actors and entertainers and our own. Amman add win is playing in it. Taryn Armstrong playing in its. I'm very excited. Local Hour: Lazy Rivers

"The Dan Le Batard Woodstock Gotcha podcast is brought to you by the capital one saver card or four percent cashback on dining and entertainment Ju- percent grocery stores of one percent on all of the purchases now when you go out you can't Jim what's in your wallet terms apply all right. I got an idea for today's show good morning yeah good morning. Hello everyone rude of you. They're talking to you on a Thursday that whole jazz jazz. I guess it's not really good morning and could be like good. Anything right could be listening at any time. That's true good anything good on you. Good everything yeah. Welcome to the show. Hey we have a lot of places we could go today and I think the way we should handle today's lower. Hashtag lower is let's just let's let it be looks. Let's let today's show be a Lazy River. We're GONNA get in. What's all hop on our tubes and let's see where this thing takes us? We got some calls. We could talk some thins. We could talk some heat which we could just talk about. Roy The whole our whole our team of. I don't know why you keep mentioning you. Are you a double tuber a single tour in question lever single really see even with your wife well. I haven't done that yet with my wife. When we went to Atlantis I think communion double tube in the Lazy River. Oh yeah because we ran out to your back right well. I don't know that the thing the double tubing is when you do with friends like if you do it with your wife or kid it's fine but like Roy's always said he's not a fan of man feet and when you two bit don't like the person who's sitting in the rear. There ended up being like like for your art right so like I'm like trying to enjoy the view of this Lazy River and I just have Royce feet in my face the entire time I think think we started double tubing it and then we eventually switched and I think we each had our own double tube which sounds luxurious but it's not really because then it's like. I don't know now if you're going to go by yourself. Take a single double tube or to your feet now and if you have the double to to butcher strategy do you go. Are you laying with your but in the middle and like you know all your extremities hanging out or are you doing like the young kid way where you're like you dive under the water and you pop up so you're Kinda like your upper torsos over the tube and your bottom towards the single tube yeah. That's what I mean. That's tough to pull off for me. Double Tube is I'm again. I'm a I'm a taller guy so for me. The Double Tube feels better when I can just kind of put my but in the back end of the tube have my hand over and then have my feet on the other side. What are you bill using Guy Lounges. Put Your Butt in the way you're supposed so if all the rules because that is the way you're supposed to because that's the way 'cause you have more control over where you go. If you're doing the part where you're like upper torso because your feet or kind of the rudder at that Bryant's even Kinda aim where you go I like I like Lazy Rivers Kinda just going with it but I I so I'm not one. That's like you know what there should be lots of rules and laser but I do like the relievers that enforce you need to be in a tube. I don't like the Shenanigans of outside of the tube swimming fast by people splash. No no no no now. This is lazy. I was actually in a Lazy River a few weeks ago because the city like where I live or near one of the cities near where I live has a I just discovered it up waterpark where we brought my kid to it's. It's basically like a poor man's blizzard beach like it's real obviously just a city version of it so it's not as fun but they have a Lazy River. They have a few ride. They have a whole a few slides. They've accused section so I just discovered this. It's pretty cool and they're Lazy River. It's it's too small and too. Many people are in it so there was a lot of people do mobility says and trying to swim around. I try to one point was waiting for a friend so I was like holding onto the wall. That was kind of breaking etiquette right. I was trying to kind of like wait yeah. No you're not allowed but with such a small thing I wanted to go with my friends. I WanNa like go around alone. No take on what's take on wave pools. This place didn't have a wave. I haven't been to a wave pool in a long pull. I know around these parts is rapids up north. wave pools in this area no zero well. There's there's the one by the by the airport the video is it violent or grape. Yeah me neither it's another like city water park for like the CV. Smith Park have like a like a nicely waterpark thing yes. I think they have like the wave pool. They have the laser over all that that might be what I'm talking about. CB Smith Park that whereas that which so many like kids parks. I mean not treetops. CBS May Clark I think is we're Chili Cook off his Co.. Oh every white maybe what I was just talking about the park. I think I might have been there. I'm sorry I don. I'm bad with Park names. There's all these like around tree tops victory. CB Smith I just always I forget exactly I mean entered I went. It was a part at the city park. I paid three dollars to get in so it's it could have been no. I'm saying like how did you. My wife drove orange and it's probably spent like come on you. Let the car take your acted Lazy River at first time there instead it wasn't like I knew this place as has the CB Smith waterpark. I just like it was we're gonNA waterpark whereas it and then you know I think all wave pools pale in comparison to typhoon lagoon that has that one monster wave of you. Guys have been attacked from the haven't been known for instance. I was like a little kid and never been there so they have the one giant wave. That's like twenty feet high and it takes everybody out. That's dangerous is really fun. Though the the other ones are kind of half asteroid like you see the little ripple waves and you're like all right. What am I really doing here. It's like somebody just did a cannonball in the Middle Pool and there's nothing really going on hazy rivers. Tell you man see. I don't tell an Orlando that I'd go to that has a lazy river and I loved it. It was like my favorite. It was my favorite place to go. Oh dream and well it was the dream until everybody found out about it and then they just kept adding towers and making the hotel bigger but the Amenity we stayed the same slide same food court saint pool situation so like they were just adding people but not adding amenities for people's like they didn't add like an extra poet in at an agricultural area to eat so it just got really really crowded and I haven't been in the longest time and it's sad and I know you just heard voice crack. It's sad because it was one on my happy places like I'd go there just chill in the Lazy River some days I wouldn't even go to the park had just chill at the hotel. That's how much I love this hotel and then it just became too popular too too. Many people not funny that what's your guys happy place. I was just trying to think that when you said that I was like where is my happy place. I don't know is it here. on Fridays Elvis plays on Friday man. I like it all the time but you know there's just something different about it on Friday. We're almost there. There's Day One way Roy. What what's this conversation for some reason in the middle that I thought of that video you posted yesterday of Claire and it is one of the cutest things I've ever seen when Claire starts singing I love you you. You just say I love you to her and she that triggers her to start singing the Barney song. I love you know. Usually she just repeats. I love you but she did the whole like she basically did the whole song long yes dude. I have almost two year old and I'm prepared to say what your day right. There is accused thing. I've ever seen a little kid. Do Wow I mean. I'm a everyone thinks their kids. He's the cutest like I can't compete with that. Are you ready to say your kids not as cute as she's a month older so she's got like a month head start so hopefully my daughter's grown up if my daughter order a month from now is doing something that might anytime October twenty six right but I just when you have thirty days sweetheart I used to but I literally use it does bulletin board material. I showed Graceland the video and I was like this is where you need to be. I'm sorry I I feel like that may have come to why said you have a month. Get Cute Yeah right right well. Yeah I mean I know my daughter's true but yeah but I was just like I literally Bolton and she kind of took it. She like nodded and she's like all right. I'm GonNa get itchy their dad. I got your daddy yeah. She working out now I mean she started running laps around the house as soon as I said it shoot reps credit smile exercises yeah about those face muscles that's all I really had to say. I was really cute my bag you. Thank you very much and it was just nice to see you a moat. You said I love you to her okay. It was nice to see see that that's great. What's the deal with you eyeso- like cold and emotionless right so cold emotionless. I don't believe good though because you have like a smirk on your face I feel like you. WanNa open up because I'm thinking about Claire Right. You're still into your cocoon. I want to be big beautiful butterfly with us. I'm so with you to the goal. All of today's lower is to crack crack. Roy Open like an egg well known right correct. EG Open like Roy's that would you go. I misspoke. I'm going to clean it up in the pod. Okay no wait. No you were fine run a crack house because he wants to track. You Open like an egg right now. I'm holding you do that. That's not a bad thing just cracking up. I'd say AAC horrific for eggs right. Did you see did you see the Seth Rogan movie where it was like supermarket items and you're like. Oh my God it's hot dog and then like you realize Oh my God. I'm putting talking boiling water yeah murdering Hotdog horrifically that was that was a funny scene. We see see what happens when you get home. The movie was a little disappointing for me in general but it has its moments I mean it's pretty stupid right but like kind of like R. rated comedies like I did. You expect expect the twist at the end. We're all the things start happening. You're like WHOA. This is not what I that's. How unmemorable expected how the movie was so unmemorable for me that I honestly can't even remember what the twist was boiler alert if you haven't seen a movie what was it like the Food Orgy. We're all of a sudden. They're doing what the Hell's going on here yet actually now. How do you say that you remember that that was funny. It was so unexpected and so random I was sitting there like whoa what everybody's GonNa die so we're all gonNa have Russian yeah so dwayne. Wade Boulevard is a thing that Brendan Tobin Guy that local guy down here in Miami has been worked that local local guy well not sending it all a lot of people from the listen to us from eighty also assumed that he's the the only locally that local guy like not a lot of local guys or something I would say local icon living legend. WHOA Macho Marlins man that living legend and he has been trying for months now to get Biscayne Boulevard call renamed Dwayne Wade Boulevard obviously gains really large so he was just talking about the area right in front of the arena long story short aired. I'm talking about this. He apparently like that's never gonNA happen because it's a state road so then tried to get other roads named Dwayne Wade wait around the arena and that can happen because apparently they have some rule. I don't know if it's a state rule but you ha- you can't have within five blocks of one another. You can't have roads named named after people and apparently like three blocks away from the arena. There's a road named after some person so there's some little loophole where they basically told them none of the roads around they're going to become Dwayne Wade Boulevard so he's very been very disappointed about this and nothing has really changed on that front but the part that's Kinda sticking up this week. Is that after like a couple of weeks of trying to get it done in Dallas. There's a new whiskey way right in front of the Dallas Mavericks Arena and it's just one of those things that it has nothing to do with this thing down here but it just kinda sticks it until like you. You're never gonNA get it and we're putting Nowitzki Way and I just feel like Hey city Miami Dade Florida. Who Cares about your stupid rule all right make a road? It's somewhere near the arena dwayne Wade Boulevard. I heard that I heard from someone I don't WanNa say who in case. They want to remain private. I heard that the hold on this is Sir are the reason that that rules in place because of Jose Canseco okay because there used to be Jose Canseco St Street eighty seventh yeah used to be Jose Canseco Sago street between like eighty seventh and one hundred seven Ram Road Jose Canseco Street and they they took it down on a couple of years now is probably like ten years ago but they they renamed the street or they took his name off the street because of the steroids and all that stuff so I think they changed the rules rules or they're now more hesitant to name things after living people because of that honestly get that point for for them because they have to go through all this work work to change a road and then I mean wherever they changed it to do something controversial terrible and all of a sudden. It's like how much work really goes into changing the name of a road. You're just changing like two signs shirts a bunch of paperwork notarize than it has to go to this guy he nine this and this and that and that is that I don't know man government bureaucracy yeah right Mumbo jumbo yeah. How how much does it take the sign. Maybe SPEC cats man. Why is that tape read. I don't know it's a great question. Why can't be yellow. Well you or the cops tape and wet floors painters. Yeah Yeah blue takes for pain and blue tape tape. I Love Lucy man so good do we only use is red tape when it comes to government bureaucracy I don't know let's think about that for a little bit. You got clear tape. You've got black lack like electric tape about black deep grill tape. Have you had that. Oh Yeah I get that. Thing is yeah yeah strong. You could never take that off ever again. No Hum dot about this tape talk talk with the capital one saver card you earn four percent back on dining and entertainment that means four percent on milkshakes with with the kids and four percent on music with your pals. You'll also earn two percent. cashback grocery stores one percent on all other purchases now. When you go out you cash in capital one one. What's in your wallet terms apply? We have an exciting update. I guess sort of looking at I've seen like you were just talking to us or this song. WHO's updating already doing stealing done on Monday me and Chris going on an adventure together ooh congratulations. You don't sound like you're actually happy. No it's not sincere at all. Why aren't you going on our adventure. Yeah somebody has to be here. Chris you WanNa talk about our adventures or not really thing. There's lots of uh exactly there's lots of red tape blend as a very busy hectic day around here and lots of things need to get done so we. I feel bad. Why is that because you I mean. You're Mondays are as hell phone now. If someone else is taking care of my responsibility that is a time that leaves that to or Mike. I've thought you sound montage. We might be going to media day. Oh Heat Media Day day he day. Are you ready for me. Today I feel like I don't know that this is something that we belong at now that we're not media but like talking about Jimmy Butler about his shot. What are we going to be doing. I mean I think I think we're going to have a nice is mix. An Ice Guacamole of the talk with welcome always a bunch of like ingredients a new right where I was out. You could have different dish. Why do I have been making homemade. That's like my thing now. I've every week when I go the store. I buy the ingredients so I can make walk like because it doesn't save well. You gotta make fresh like one Avocado Day right. I make like I'm not making a big batch. I'm literally taking one avocado one little tomato. Oh one little onion and I'm like that's one of those things. It seems like it's worth just paying a little bit extra to get the actual pre made stuff arms. aww Mean Dude. It's not that long of a process. It's just really cutting up the tomato and opening the avocado and then just throwing it all. Are you alive the guy in there not lately yes in general. If I was making just for myself I would but my daughter she loves the GUAC like just shovel it in her mouth and and she announced that for that reason I've been staying away from the Jalapeno. I just go simple. SNP AVOCADO TOMATO ONION LIME juice has some be salt and pepper yeah. Eh Gotcha yeah but that's just the basic you know. I'm I'm experimenting. I throw a little something here and there and so GUAC heat media day is they can bring this back version versus walk. The tomato is GonNa be the wacky stuff some XS and OS. I'm with you that we can't go in there and just start being like us hotdog August sandwich like the whole time like we got what I'm saying. I'm saying I don't know what we're GONNA do for their like Oh. Let's talk about the SPO. His Spo -tations wants to hear that for me. I don't know I think we can talk to them about you. Know as long as it's like sports relate it doesn't have to be like would how many screens get run around this year more of a bounce pass guy or chess you you could be the balanced past chesapeake curious all we should ask all them. What do you prefer bounce pass or Chess Bass. What do you think they'd say well. It's actually dependent on what the defense defense is doing. Yeah the situation would dictate right killing all states ought to you're all state basketball all state. I got I got hurt and I wasn't all state honorable mention them to look at US honorable mention senior year honorable mention all county congrats. I go my name in the paper. There was like a bunch of first team second team and then there was just it's a block of like honorable mention somewhere in there yeah cool times it was. I was first team. They played in picture. They put a couple of guys on our team for life. Remaining of Enviro hello yeah I told us sort of force leg. I met him at one of the met him at one of the the show events. He's like hey a main of our and I was like yeah like my senior year. You were in charge of like all county athletes took pictures like you're the one coordinating and he's like. Oh Okay and what did you get. Where were you as first team. Oh I feel like it was a political thing benefitted benefitted from local politics because it's like my height was the same exact height as one other person so in my head. I'm like what made me this person that got this award rather than the other person. Did you ask me any no. I didn't WANNA know. I wanted to believe that just in case it will wait. You know what you're right. Yeah get out. Get Out of here. What are you doing here. Get Out of here so he media days GUAC immediate as GUAC. I think we'll be fine like I. I'm glad you should make a heap character hector. I know we were talking yesterday about how potentially my could just be me because of all all the crap going on Mondays and my only thought there is I just never been to he media days in not alone you should you should create a he character all all right and what would be the let's build it. I duNNo. I mean there's Macho Moreland man who's like the voice of the marlins down here. You should do a heat thing. We don't have a heat thing you try to Japan wagon and then they lost two games carrying campaign here. Pan Wagon is back this year though but you needs to last like you wanted to be the panthers cry last year and then you didn't watch the panther I don't want to be the panthers guy just wanted to like you know you announce. That Roy is the Panthers Guy I don't WanNa. I don't WanNa step on his turf. I just I I wanted to get the show more worksite because it's really the only good team that we kinda have around here. The heat have a chance to be okay but I just felt like we needed to have team to get behind and that's really what I was going definitely a space as for for him to be heat guy people as Um. Mike's Kinda the heat guy. I don't know if he's still works here but Mike is the guy and Mike Storks here and I was a joke okay well he had been and why don't you just go and like banana. You should go on Monday. Dresses banana man heat trying to like like is there a play with like heat. I feel bonanza already been done. Tomato man tomato man to man David stand by the way is not going to be joining yeah not happen. Jason Jackson teased him for today yesterday. We teased him for today. They did that on the air. Yes I did yes we did. I definitely said tomorrow. We'll have Jason. Lots of broken my segue into talking about Karaoke with that's right tomorrow. We'll talk to Jason Jackson. He has for me okay. We're trying to Jesse Jackson tomorrow though yes yeah jj to even mean on that's I've been to about Carrio. I'm definitely going to talk about Karaoke so early where is a mean because I feel like he's kind of like where's Waldo all of a sudden he pops up like New York and they had also in. La Yep he's here and he's there air so he might be on the West Coast. He may be here tomorrow with the way things are right pop up just walking into the studio around eleven. I'm Kinda bummed that Samsonite on today because yesterday it was the first episode of a new season of survivor so I wanted to ask him Dorky survivor questions. He's my survivor guy. He was on survivor so like Aquino's the survivors even though he was like you know a couple of days because you have voted out. I you know what his downfall was. He went after the big guy like immediately. It was like the first or second day and it was one of the things we need to nominate. Someone like immediately like let's dominate the most important person in our tribe and it's like what black doc man. I'm David David. You need to go daily really went after no lie he went after like from my recollection which I'd have to go back and see it's been years when after like the biggest and strongest guy on like the first day and everyone's like we we can't survive without that guy so like no like gotta go. Do you watch massingir. I did watch my I know we're going to. I know we're saving okay. It was good. I I like to watch it yeah. I have one two three four. Wow four pages one for every match awesome well they had. They changed the format last last night yeah so they had for the first time this smackdown and they had to smackdown yesterday last season. They didn't have smackdown. No that's like I love how they're like. His Fox has smackdown down coming so they are. You think that's why they did that. Corporate Center they announced the smack down here they with rope like an advertisement for really WBZ. I didn't notice that yeah. That's cool yeah yeah. Are you excited about who the stars were. I get into it. I don't WanNa get too much to it but I will say I was real cocky after the first one because the after the I performance house like Kinda know that that I got. I know that was like pretty clear prepared good this year by the way yeah. I don't WanNa give actually because I don't want to get. There weren't many clunkers last night like right there. Every like everyone seems legitimately like decent at six and the people and the one that was the worst singer had the most like personality. I'm thinking of Skeleton Yeah Yeah. I don't know how skeleton moved on so I have a question because obviously I don't watch why. Why is it obvious I mean I feel like that's pretty obvious obvious why wouldn't want. Why wouldn't you watch cool too? Many Kudos to include myself enrolled in this conversation and like so how does it sound good. Thanks still cocoon. He resumed in a mass spreading a costume sings a song and then the judges who are are people that have no idea out vocal yes harmony and one not. Nicole Shea zingers nursing Robin Thicke and Robin Robin young singers and watch very condescending because I remember from last season wasn't Kim Jong the Ken John Gentlemen Jenny McCarthy not those are the two personalities and then Nicole Scherzinger and he's a singer from the Puskas and then a Robin Thicke can is the host Ken ended. I think he had songs at one point so basically they're watching. There's clues there. They have a package. It's like here's the butterfly. Let's see something about the butterfly then they do a bunch of puns bunch of word plays of Liens of who they really are they give clues clues. Show work hasn't have no now they have. They're Mike and they start performing as performing. You hear Ken Jeong. He's like that's not a professional singer. Then you hear Jimmy mcgeough the TACO. You could tell that that's trained so it's like you're lying. Okay so it's a singer Zinger. It's like Oh. They said they grew up at a at a rough childhood. So you're looking up you know so they can google well. No no no they can't. They're not googling but like I'm at home almost who rough upbringing and there was a golden gate bridge there so San Francisco and it's like so you're trying to guess and some people like guess right away has anybody to be guest right away like Oh. That's well. We'll find out because they don't. They don't unmask people every episode like people advance yeah. The link weakest link of every show gets on Mass Ken. John was very convinced. He knows who one person is but that person advanced so we don't know who that person is okay so out of the four that was a four yesterday was eight so double episode two hours wow big big premiere yeah on this show each trying now. I mean after being made the how many were unmasked to okay right but there's still there's still singers that we haven't met yet. I assume there's eight eight more right. I assume next week going to be. I think there are sixteen now. I'm GonNa Tease that oh I'm coming up next you find out how many sixteen okay interesting creature habits the flat arid plains of Million Automobile Bill Dashboard the bobblehead. It's most agreeable and will not along to anything despite having no brain function but when the bottle had here's how Geico not only saves people money but also gives them access to licensed agents twenty four seven online and over the phone. You'll not even more vigorously because he knows you should switch because yes switching. GEICO is a no brainer jozy pub lead easy. You can get whiplash you starting yeah you go ahead and start the Chris now. Easter Roy ended up like some sort roy start. Let's hear Driving Roy. Let's picture Arnold Chiari now. Roy's in the driver's RETU- you too Roy right so anthony you wanNA start this segment. Yeah let's do it. Let's go straight to the phone lines right. I like Jo- Joe from Fort Wayne. He was on hold old yesterday. He said he has an update about the four and five Joe. Let's hear your Fort Wayne Update. You're up I would like to pull them up except I don't know what line is on so w yeah let's go out to joe on line six jobs from the Fort Wayne Five Joe. You say you have a Fort Wayne. Five update for US hit us with it big update guys so four lane five you know the the was was flourishing. We felt like we needed. You know. There's a little little stagnation here on the last month or so. maybe a correspondent actually had a job going who knows we won't get into that right now but somewhere rebranding recalling that six person is my son. Jacob we did it. I did it. That was actually did it. We could do we could we could call it the following five and just kicked trevor up. I don't know I I don't know I'm no. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding walking up. Go ahead sorry. It's a little confusing because there's always been more than five of you so there was always just Joe and Jacob who he hates the era too and a lot of people came to support them but there was never five of you. Were there right well. Jacobs my son so I don't hate him cover what he meant to say. Oh yeah sorry well to be fair. You've only known Jacob for a short amount of time so it's hard to make an accurate assessment of Jacob Right now. Isn't it well well. He's a bit Fussy. He's a little bit dramatic so I don't know verdicts out on heavy. Kinda be sure to update US how Jacobs Shakeups turning out to Jacob bussing the Barney song yet he doesn't I don't he's not as cute right now. I don't think you know you've got like you know Kinda pretty blue eyes and that's Kinda always go for me. Just kind of lays there and sleeps didn't so you know I don't know does he. He yeah he does very self involved update by Joe. No people wondering I was wondering what I call closet closet kicking a couple of weeks demanded no. I'm actually on a little it'll paternity. Leave here so got a little time to to hang out help the Weiss. Oh congrats well. It sounds like sounds like you have time to plan another event to me. I don't know I think so how old that is twelve days old. Wow Yeah that's awesome and you're still in days. That's that's when you know they're young but Wendy's switch a week two weeks three weeks well. That's that's the thing I wanted to tie this into the birthday. You think 'cause like on on seven days. We took one of those pictures you know or a little. I and it's a one week our 'cause now. You're talking a half birthdays to celebrate like birthdays by the week or like models I needed to do here. They have these like picture. frames that. I'm sure you've got some baby registry thing. That's like first twelve months pictures so it's GonNa like first month second month. Put the baby in a blanket and you like circle and Ray and you have ladies them that says months underneath and you you rotate the blocks every mind one two three months so it's like that you're kind of stuck for twelve months. You GotTa just gone the first year of that and then you can kind of be like all right enough. God these kids are going to be so vain auto with all these social media kilby one week a month three three months six months one year. That's combined with a very good strategy for about nine months yeah. ooh. Let's get the I don't know well. Well going every three months and I guess that but did you guys do that. Thing like the birthday the first birthday gala McKay can just make a mess of the cake. I don't understand that it she was just staring at it and I eventually took her hand and put her hand. What what why. Why is that do society's norms. I had no idea why that's the thing but I felt an urge. They're like I need a picture of her being messy with this week and you do it at two years old. I think two years all you just let them Oh. Have you not done it yet. I did at one. I might do it again it to all right well. Thanks for the thanks for the update Joe Congrats on Jacob. Yeah thank you you all right cool. That's Joe that's good baby. Jacob was born yeah congratulations. Roy what any closer to being a butterfly a flight today though next call go where you WANNA go to. Let's go out to Zach online four. I I didn't screen these calls but it says Demon Deacons Zach. What do you have on us. What do you have for us on demon deacons all all right so this story also involves another. PC NC state another disappointing Fort School just like way for us so I guess back doc in Nineteen eighty-one. NC State is the wolf pack. They have two mascots. Mr and Mrs Wolf and eighty one day officially got married and the efficient the wedding was the demon deacons that that seems reckless. Yeah they married in nineteen eighty one and they renewed their vows in twenty eleven so there's like a video video of life of our newell on Youtube somewhere like the demon deacons silently marrying issue mascot so the Deacon is an ordained minister as well for wolves seems that it seems to be that way for at least in like the mascot world. I don't know if life if you wanted to marry your fiance Anthony and he did this to mouth got to get married. I assume the demon deacons the one you want to contact us sick. That's an idea there. Do you think your fiancee would be down for you guys. We married but a demon deacons so here's the thing if we were wake force grads. Maybe I could sneak that in there and be like hey look like you know like Oh. Well you know Grad School Rory. Yeah roaring. I don't know yeah I don't know if those are you allowed to just hand that costume off Willy Nilly because if you can have any costume yeah whoever you have actually doing your leading the panthers so I've got a great story about this great story so I have a friend of mine who was was in the Student Government Association like S J or whatever and he was in DC. Doing you remember when they had like. They haven't like everywhere now. they have. New York they send a shirt in China China's good worlds ahead world's had always so they had one in DC and he was the bureau guy at the DC office office for Fau. They made him wear the rory costume at Capitol Hill to take pictures and stuff so he has the real roy wasn't there so they have a back. They Roy Roy Costume ruin. Rory can't go play exactly so they had like the surrogate rory and he was a surrogate. Roy So you have a picture of him with the rory costume on the show because he like animated. What did he do well. You're just you're just showing me a picture rory no but he's got the head off. Oh sorry sorry sorta scary but interesting at least maybe we can try to swing the wake forest mascot talk to. I have a friend that went to Notre Dame like right out of high school and he applied to be or he tried out to be the Leprechaun. He didn't get us to Bet Tony. What do you do you think the world is ready for Cuban Leprechaun? What are you doing with your wedding to try to make it unique okay. I feel like that's a thing with weddings. Is You want to have something in there. That's like Oh. I've never seen this for. Billy had a good thing. Maybe this is common like I had never really had been to a wedding where they come with. Come at you with a little snack late in being delivered by ablaze fight right. I mean I've actually actually I think maybe there was one time I went to a wedding. After they had like a food truck outside they could get food from billy's was cool because it was like a bunch of it was a little little lunch buyer for everybody. Eh that was something from Billy's wedding that was like Oh. That's cool like I didn't expect that okay. Are you on the process like in terms of your engaged by still with us. Thank you for hanging on with us. Where are you in the process like are you. Are we in crunch time or so. We're getting crunch time because we are. Let's say January Eleventh Day so we you're like four months away or on purpose. Yes on one one. not really just happened to be that. That's where the the place that we're getting married. I'd had the availability because it could have been like eighteenth two and ended up having one elevens better. One of them's better definitely so what we're doing to differentiate ourselves is obviously when and the party's going it's going to be more of a of a club like atmosphere. where we're. GonNa hit everybody with the confetti cannons. GonNa have the co two guns but don't tell everybody now then they won't be surprised. They're not listening. We put them in a tough spot. 'cause we ask them. They kind of have that idea so how many blasts confetti while the Confetti I think comes from the from the roof so I don't know if you don't give the name Oh Napoli Organization. They should probably more than what the Confetti Canon. I don't know if it's a gun that somebody shoots in the air and then the stuff comes out or if they're going to hang it and then they just exploded loaded but the co two gun is basically like a fire extinguisher with like a gun where you just like the crowd so there's only two of those Jenny and I have those we'll be shooting it onto onto the crop. Wow that'd be fun. I still think we should probably was it. You have all you would definitely believe that it's Thursday that means as Thursday no right cooking right. There's a trap game of the week yes. It's a new thing Omega. It's really a a new thing only because I hit last week and I'm wondering if I would have lost last weeks. It would have died right there but hey. I have a chance to go on a run with this thing this last week. Carsley this this hour every Thursday every Thursday going forward. I will give you my trap game lock of the week last week. I gave you dolphins at the cowboys first-half plus eleven one and a half the dolphins. I knew they would compete in the first half because the cowboys had have the Sunday night game this week so I thought they'd be looking ahead and the dolphins lost by only four four points so the dolphins covered travel we are one was a steamer by the way one that was an absolute steamer trap half trap hat traff all right so this week. I was going through the schedule and I saw three games that are potential trap games. Are we're going to go over the. I'M GONNA go over all three of them and then I will tell you which of the three is my trap game of the week and I will tell you whether I get. You should bet the game or the half because last week I only felt strongly because the dolphins actually didn't end up covering for the game last week but the covered the first staff so we will be specific on what you should bet okay. Here are my three trap games. The chiefs are on the road at the Lions. the colts are at home against the raiders and the rams are at home against the bucks walks next week. The rams play on Thursday night football against Seattle so and the chiefs are playing against the colts next week. Which is why those two are trap game. A trap game of the week that I'm going with is Tampa. The Los Angeles Rams the rams play the following week on Thursday night football divisional game against the seahawks Tampa under a little underrated defense. They're going on the road. They're playing at. La La didn't look too impressive to me last week against the Browns girlies lip. Lin Ungraded Todd Gurley not playing great and I just think that they can cover. This is a different from last week. I rams traps. This is the RAM strapped the rams trap game so I would bet the bucks. What's the spray. I am not doing the first half this week. Though I think the play is the game this week Oh wow wow so that's nine and a half of it here nine and a half caesars has it at nine and a half so I would take the bucks plus nine and a half your trap game of the week man that was easy as we got there pretty quick. Wow Bucks are coming in with some fire and there is the reason that I didn't want to take the. I really wanted to go chiefs but the do it. Mahomes is so oh hourly wanted to take the lions against the chiefs. Mahomes is just so good like you could so easily just they could win every game by thirty so I didn't want to go there. I'm actually really interested to to see why the line is only a touchdown. You'd figure the line should be a lot higher than that might be the league telling you a little trap game trap game. We'll trap game. They heard they heard Naked Chris over here right Chris. That's true company names. Do you tweet me right. I have a lot of names naked Chris. fit Chris Crazy Chris Craze Chris Crazy Chris all you Miss Crazy Chris Roy. I mean you were here. You just didn't say anything right. Yeah Crazy Chris don't Roy. You'll hear from crazy Chris on Monday. We'll get regular listeners awesome so there it is your trap game of the week buccaneers plus nine at the Iran. I was nine and a half nine and a half extra are rough segment for me. You're good unless I added it all the bad stuff out. I was thinking by the way crazy Chris of just because it didn't go well yesterday the way that we did it I was thinking of maybe naming are like Monday. Football roundup stats and furious because we did stats. That's an furious yesterday and yeah yeah well. I found funny and have the support of my teammates. I don't think the word play of like I give the stats. You're furious. That was funny. That was a great this by the way why don't think that we're going to do it that way ever again so I'd like the name stats furious so maybe we can do it on Monday through in some car car sounds for NFL roundup. Did you hear the NFL round job by you guys as usual. That's I think we're getting back into mass singer territory. You don't actually actually like it. I just thought of something good way that we can kind of include the local our audience being they can be. Kinda producers lobbyists for the for the national show. Roy created an open or dolphin stat of the day because now we have stat of the day you got the dolphins at four with the dolphins being terrible dolphins stat of a day and I made it open for it and I'm hearing I'm feeling very vulnerable about it and and I feel like it's good so when I do I was GonNa play for you guys because none of these guys in here heard it and play for the audience our audience and do you feel about lower sticking. I mean I think one of your best accomplish. The word combining words thing in general has been a huge success like I get more than the lower though right lower yeah that's for sure people are calling it that which is lower so all right so every day. Dan is going to say all right. Let's do our bad dolphins Saturday and instead of playing our normal stat of the day I would like to play this in the dolphins are bad. They make us d really sad so we refund his stats to make laugh I I like. I like the dolphin sound at the end. I thought that was really cool and get the car crash like sound because they're a car crash Ashley. You just keep watching every week. I liked that you made the rhyming. I thought it was good. Yeah it was good you. WanNa hear you you WanNa Chris. Chris made an open for dolphins out of here. I'll give you my headphones. Hold on. Don't don't do all right so billy's giving giving alison his headphones so she can hear this. The dolphins are bad. They make us do really sad so we refund. Stats make us laugh. It was good right. Go dots feeling very vulnerable to be sure to look. It's it's not it's not bad. I will say that you're more than likely going to get made fun of during Michelle kicked. Out of here are part of the point point. You'll get booted throughout the effort. Thank you the efforts. Yeah Onions Commendable Freud Butterfly Status The oh the beds on beds. It is by the way Um plays Virginia Tech this week. Is Virginia Tech good anymore. I was just going to be my young coverage. Now actually really bad so what happened will probably be a really usually good good and then all of a sudden another bad but the canes are also really of two and one could. They think that that's embarrassing. Virginia Tech there are two and one and they lost to Boston College. I mean I guess the team that they'd be the thing about the Dolphin Central Michigan Dolphin Furman Baby. They thrive the first drive. Touchdown closes core twenty four seven. Oh my yes the same thing as the canes barely beating Central Michigan no way worse. I guess the the canes drove down the I. I drive the game. He thought that the keeps the canes. We're GONNA destroy beds going after that. It was just luck yeah. It was actually it looked like the game was being played at a monsoon and it wasn't that's how bad I like this. This is a really good. Thank you know I just was the clapping in the background you too because I like to go now. There's actually Roy see how there's a gap at some point in the bed like around a minute yeah play leading up to that because I was thinking of having us you. The dolphins are bad in that gap Roy. You want to play just silent. Play the gap take in quite. That's coming up right now. The dolphins are bad. Add a little bit more upbeat like the dolphins are bad. It'd be it'd be like all of us like as a group that officer bad kind of like that seventies show like at one point three times. I like having a little production meeting on air the bad yes. It's good to get us. You want to try that.

Is coming up, which is to say most important, we're gonna talk a spoiler late in addition of Cobra KAI season two, which we both the Vour I watched with my son. I think he watched with his sons, and we love this show. So we're giving our view for Cobra KAI at the end of this podcast coming up our friends from program. I would tape in this. It is noon. Pacific time Thursday. So if anything happens NBA next couple of hours don't blame us Dan Devine on the line from the ringer. I wanted to start about talking warriors rockets I whereas up to nothing game three is not till Saturday night. What was your biggest surprise with these first two games? I guess I was kinda surprised that eventually everybody shut up. The fact that after the whatever that was forty eight hours of everybody losing their minds about calls. Everyone just kinda played basketball game sort of refreshing, wasn't it. It was kind of nice to see. Yeah. I still feel like these teams haven't brought the best out of each other yet. And maybe that won't happen. There may be too much familiarity. But my big takeaway is. And you know, this isn't like a groundbreaking take. But I I think the rackets really knocked got knocked out of this series by the refs in all kinds of ways because it was two fold one. They lost their composure and game one then they lost their composure after the game, then they kept losing their composure, and I think the unintended consequence was kind of galvanize the words I really felt like the crowd was in that game in game two. And I felt like the the the players were really into it. Now, it's a playoff game is bigger and be into it anyway. But when you start when you open the door to that whole, you guys only beat us because the refs helped you kind of angle that's the last thing the words need, right. The last thing that team needs after five years of finals runs as more motivation. And I felt like they opened the pin doors box with that. And now they're in trouble. What do you think of that? Yeah. I think that makes a lot of sense, especially because the best way to beat. The warriors is kinda let the war. Beat themselves. Right. When they start throwing crazy passes around and they're loose with the ball. And they go away from stuff that works for minutes at a time. And you're sort of like if you know steps reaching in and picking up cheap fouls. Like if you just didn't do that stuff. Nev- you would never lose a game. And but sometimes whether it's their, you know, sort of a collective boredom born out of how much they've already done together, and whatever and the five years of long seasons and all that like sometimes they need sort of a galvanizing wakeup call and sort of when they get that. They're like, oh, yeah. Let's defend like crazy, and let's take care of the ball, and let's focus on this possession. And then the one after that and the one after that. And then before you know, what you're down fifteen. And so I think you kind of saw that in game two they were ready to go from the opening tip. They were like the super Lockton final over the place. Draymond has completely erased. Clint Capella in the beginning of the series, and it kind of puts Houston in a spot where you know, how many guys can they even play in this series? You know, and so like the warriors being really locked in. That was just a function of this was the time they were gonna wake up anyway, this was the opponent. They were gonna wake up four or the way things opened up in the series. You know, they're here. The you know, the Houston has their full undivided attention. And it doesn't seem like it's a very good thing for the rockets right now. Yeah. That's a good point about the biggest competitor for the where's the warriors? And it almost seems like a better strategy going into the words as to do the whole thing where you're just constantly praised in them. You know, if the rockets had come into the series, look, these guys are great. They're the best. It's an honor to just be on the court with these. And you do that. Maybe that's what Portland or Denver should do next round. Because then the words gets off they get comfortable. The worst thing you can do is make it seem like it was an accident that they won. And you know, for what if it wasn't eight on five we we'd be up on nothing right now all that does is kind of wake them up. And I think this worst him has been board off and on for the last two years. I was looking. At the stats. I didn't even remember this. The words went sixty seven and fifteen two years ago, the rance I sees very quietly sixty seven times, would you? Did you even remember that six seven fifteen? Yeah. I think I would have guessed it made me because I remember was the last two seasons or fifty eight I would have guessed some ballpark. But no. Yeah. That first season with Duran. You're it's crazy because it was it was a lower wind total than the year before that. But then they were just sort of, you know, had the ultimate in case of emergency break glass thing. And yeah, no one even came close to touching them. But yeah, they've been at such a high level like cruising altitude for so long that you know, you you can sort of understand that it's gonna take something every once in a while to bring the nose of the plane backup. But you know, it's it's a it's a bummer decides like a fan that this this whole series had to sort of be open up within be characterized by the officiating stuff. But I mean, listen, if it's what lights a fire on the warriors ass than you know, maybe we get a couple of cool rounds after this assuming of course, shouldn't be saying it's over after two games. But like, maybe we see something closer to. What the warriors really can be. You know now that the pilot lights on I feel like it's over and I rarely say stuff like that. And I picked the rockets to actually win the finals before the playoffs. But I don't think it's conceivable to beat this team for two five times. It's a math thing. He if game seven was in Houston, maybe but you're talking about. I just don't see it. I think you have to steal one of the first two and then on top of it. Let's talk about hearted. The year that he had in the level that he went to it sucked me in. I wasn't ready to you know, say that he was the best offensive player in the league and all that stuff. But he did it so many nights and around your your there in Brooklyn watching watching league pass every day pieces for us the the totality. What he was doing at some point won me over. And then we get to the playoffs and starting with that game three in the Utah series. All the sudden, it seems like kind of the old James art. And again, the James harden that we didn't like as much in the playoffs, and he has not been able to get it going. Do you think this is just the bad stretch, or do you think in a playoff series when somebody's playing him over and over and over again, the familiar that becomes a disadvantaged him? I think it's probably a little column a little column B, you know, it's it is conceivable that at this time of year. And you know, what we've heard so many times now when you get down to may. And he. He's whatever ninety games deep with the usage that he has in the minutes that he plays and all that stuff. He starts to wear down in ways that, you know, take the legs out of the jumper a little bit or make it a little harder for him to get to the line or those sorts of things that might be part of it there also might be part of it. That's like you're at this time of year, you're playing against he's the jazz were that's that wasn't as comp- or wasn't as long as series is. I guess a lot of us thought it might be. But that's an elite defense that had a plan. It looks looked crazy for two games. But it kind of took some of the starch out of him over the course of the last few games of that series. So, you know, there's something to be said for and then the warriors, obviously when they lock in and when they play with that Hamptons five death lineup. They're like, you know, that's about as good as a defense can get when you've got a healthy shape. Draymond captaining everything. So he's playing against the best defense is that you can see there's some of those things that you know. Yeah. The tendencies of you know, we're here's how we're going to keep our hands out. You know, the the Spurs had that sort of hands up defence a couple years ago where when we're going over screens, we're just you know, literally like. Hands up. You know, I'm a captor at this point. I'm a prisoner. Like, I'm not gonna put anything near you. Because I don't want to get that reach in and over the course of time you get enough reps of having to deal with them. You can maybe mo- Bevill off some of those edges or you can reduce the the advantages that he can create and then it comes down to shot making. Then it comes down to how many how great a job. Can you do? With the limited opportunities. You get. And I think what you see in this this series is. And it's no I don't know that it's necessarily shade to James harden. But like Kevin Durant is a superior shotmaker to him. Kevin Durant and guys like Colli Leonard over in the in the Toronto series like they are going to get the the hardest shots you can get. But they're going to get them in ways that they can make the he can make those shots and hardened because maybe because he's taking like Moineau tougher long further out more dangerous sorta shots at are higher variants like he's just not hitting them at the same clip. And you know, the rest of that roster around him sort of like, well, what when that's. Not going your way. Then what do you do? And unless you have superhero, Chris Paul, which I think we might be saying goodbye that player then I don't really there's there's not really a whole lot of answers for Houston. So you you need the best version of hardened even have a chance here. But it's yeah. The the the sheer like the weight of all those things together might just sort of bog him down by this time of year. Yeah. The the playoff games are start add up for him just from a pure mass standpoint, you know, you're talking about since he got to Houston spy. He's now put sixty nine playoff games. He's taken nine threes game in those playoff games. And he's made thirty one point eight percent, which is a pretty big sample size at this point. Now you're talking during the regular season his usually somewhere between thirty six and thirty eight depending on the season. But he's really only had one playoffs. That's the typically looks pretty good in in Houston where in two thousand fifteen is twenty-seven to game seven F says, but you know, shat thirty eight percent from three and the numbers kind of looked like what has numbers normally do. If you go back if you go back and just look at his last three seasons. So the seventeen playoffs the eighteen playoffs than these. I seven playoff games. He should thirty percent from three forty percent from two only. Into the line nine times a game. Which is lower for him. Amazing only only that is. Yeah. I I said that, but you know, it that's a pretty big sample size to and I don't think they can win a title. He's gonna make thirty percent of his threes. So my question is does he have a hot streak in him or is regular season hard, a different beasts than plan Fardon because there's been other guys like that that in the regular season they did their business one way. And then the playoffs for whatever reason the production tailed off even fifteen twenty percent. But that's a pretty big margin for a team that really really really relies on him. And in a lot of different historic ways. When you think about that? Yeah. I I think that's it. It's become you when it was one series. You could write it off. Right. When it was, you know, there was the questions with the Spurs series a couple of years ago of like did he just did he get exhausted because of the push for eighty two games and MVP? Did he you know? Was it was there? So was you know, was he sick during that second round series? Was it just the the combination of those things and the defense that he hadn't seen before or whatever. But you know, you build a body of work, and at a certain point, you know, there are players who the the the rarest players are the ones who can maintain their regular season production or increase it against the best defenses against the best competition at this time of year. And we at this point yet where we're getting to a point where we just haven't seen that. I don't know that I would believe that it's impossible for him to do that. I think if he you know, he comes out and game three is able to get a few few down early get to the line a few times early establish that rhythm. You could see. Absolutely. You know, forty forty five point kind of game for him where they mean, it might not be making fifty percent of his shots but skewing more toward his regular season numbers. And you get that rhythm with step back. You're able to create some distance and get yourself in a sort of a more comfortable rhythm that I think you could see that. But you know, your your to your point doing that four times in five. Games against this defense where they can start with with dollar on him. They can you know, have dream on forever lurking behind him. They're taking away the lobs. They're forcing them to floaters. They're putting them in really sort of difficult positions. And they've got multiple bodies. They can throw at them. It's a really really tall ask. And you know, down the line, whether we know we will look back at these things and say, you know, harden was somewhat of a Mirage because he never got to that level again in the playoffs. Or we say he ran into the greatest team of all time four times, or whatever, you know, that that that I think that that remains to be seen. We'll see how that sort of comes out on the washing years to come. But I think when you've seen this a few series in a row now, you gotta start wondering is there something about what he is doing that. Just doesn't translate quite as well. And they know the players that rely on reliant Fritos. Yeah. The that those dry up a little bit because the game gets called a little bit looser, and because you know, teams are a little bit better able to avoid those fouls, but the drop offs in three and three point percentage, especially. Is really tough because so much of his game, especially this season Charkes wrote for us earlier in the season the way he's sort of like pushing the boundaries of the league and breaking that. But with this the volumes shooting, if he's not making those then the math turns against Houston and a pretty significant way. So I'd like to see that kind of hot street just because I think it would make the series more fun. It'd make the playoffs more fun as a whole. But I think he kind of have to see it to believe it at this point. Yeah, I'm bummed because I really thought this is going to be a classic series. I really did. I thought this was going to be one of the Alzheimer's and we've seen this happen. A few times over the last twenty years. I think most famously with the Mavericks and the the heat two thousand six and the Mavericks had a much much much better case for flipping out about officials, but it definitely affected them. And you know, especially after game five they still had the series coming back to Dallas for game sex, you know, in two thousand six but at that point they were just a shell. And Miami went and took it from him and took the title. I think I think in two thousand two the king's there is so much fuss about game six that a kind of overshadowed that in game seven they that's that series. On a platter for them. They were home they had an amazing crowd. They had multiple chances to win down the stretch and in overtime, and they just missed a bunch big shots. I think when a basketball team really gets fixated on things aren't going our way the socks like it can be really damaging. And sometimes it's justified if you really feel like you're getting hosed that the two thousand one bucks got hosed unbelievably in that six or series and were able to kind of fight it off, and and get more of a battle. But in this case, I guarantee the rockets are going to look back at this and think man, we should have done that differently and especially the front office. I couldn't believe their leaking stuff about the the did you ever could you imagine that they were doing that? The leaking the the calls from from game seven. Meanwhile, they must like what twenty six straight threes. What are you complaining about the officials? That was crazy. I mean, I it's I I had forgotten that, you know, the the degree to which Mark Cuban had done some of those things after the two thousand six files to you know, like, the the reams of data in whatever the spreadsheets about how certain rest, call certain things and that. Sorta reports I like, I don't know. There's you're a conspiratorial sort love. That likes likes leaning in those directions. I to me, I always sort of look at it and say if you're talking about an overwhelming preponderance of calls, I get it. If you're talking about a lot of other things you could have done better or differently on your own to impact the outcome of the game. I feel like I have a hard time seeing the the the restaurant to get us thing. I think I tend to think that stuff works out in the wash. But I think there's a point where if that is what you are so singularly focused on, you know, maybe you gonna blow a couple opportunities on the margins in these sorts of series against an opponent. This good the margins matters so much that I mean, we're still talking about you know, these these both of these games wound up within a couple possessions apiece. So if you if you are just locked in on, you know, we're getting screwed over this way. And that and you're not maybe you maybe you're five percent less focused on the next play. Maybe you're five percent. Let's focus on the next tation, whatever that stuff matters. And you and you can't afford to give up those edges against the team. This good not to sound like I'm I. Take. But I do feel like the rockets brought some of this on themselves too. Because when you're constantly challenging the refs with the flap in the semi flopping falling down on threes. Putting your legs in opponent so new shooting and other little tricks that these guys are so good at the specially hardened Paul. And they've been good at for years. The say they're in the starting five of guys who just know how to work the refs when they had the ball at some point the refs become gun shy, especially on the road. And that I don't think I don't think that par got overstated enough. These games were angled state. Referees are always going to mentally subconsciously. Skew a little bit toward the home home team home crowd at Santa's bad as it used to be in the seventies eighties nineties, but it's still going to be there in these guys. Don't wanna make a mistake where they call foul and a three, and then it turns out James harden and flapped or James harden was the one that through his legs out. So they're great in those guys on a higher on a higher curve. I think and. That's why some of those didn't get called. I actually thought in game two Scott fosters who's one of the all-time referee Baynes of my existence. I thought I thought that crew is great. I thought that was one of the best -ficiating games. I've seen in years. I mean at one point one team at eight free throws the other team at ten and it was like the late in the third quarter of the fourth quarter. I never noticed the refs that whole time. So I don't know if the the only time you noticed anything was when there was the double tax on dream on on the knee. And it was almost like that was kind of a good way to get control before things got out of hand. Because then you were like you will rescind those later like don't worry about right? Like right now. Everybody just chill out calm down. Let's get back to what we're doing. And so, yeah, it's it's weird. When that when the officiating crew came out, everyone was like rockets fans went nuts. And then even real warriors fans were not particularly thrilled to see Scott foster Ned Malloy to I don't know that those guys have a whole lot of fans across the league necessarily. But as it turned out once everybody kind of moved past that and die. Into the game. And like the each team made a concerted effort when they went into the game to not not stark right thing. Then like, yeah. That's just kind of melted away. And you didn't notice it for awhile. Which was you know, a refreshing change of pace in some of the playoffs that we've seen and we should also mention these are two extremely hard teams to officiate. You have he'll totally hard and empower way up there in the heart officiates go, and then the warriors like they're just said he moving screens the whole game, and you can either call it immediately or not call it. And they're so good that as the game goes along they're gonna add three percent six percent, and that becomes impossible to. And I think the rancher really hard guy to officiate, especially if he's being guarded by somebody smaller because you know, we saw this in the last year with the clippers game Beverly was just modeling Durant in game two and just getting away with foul after foul profound profound the rest relating happened because he's ten inches shorter for and then I went to game three in the. Fs immediately were like, look you're not doing that this game. He had three thousand like two minutes. But I do think sometimes we forget that some of these teams are really hard to officiate like, I think the Celtics are relatively easy to officiate. They don't drive to the basket issue upshots. They don't wanna take lamps for free throws. So as an easy. They don't rebound. Like, it's there's all these things that go in your favor quickly. I'm Chris Paul who missed I thought the biggest shot of game too. When the he had a wide open three when they had real momentum and a chance to cut it to three with under a minute left. And it was yet again it was another added to the finals game. I think he's going to go down as one of the best forty players ever certainly going to go down as the best point guard has generation and yet the playoff resume, which is ultimately how we remember these guys. It just hasn't been there. Most famously two thousand fourteen one of the all-time choke jobs again, so Casey with which is one of the most damaging sequences. In the last thirty minutes. I think any great players ever had two thousand fifteen they blow the nineteen point lead or fifteen point. Whatever was to the rockets, Josh Smith all those dudes Brin the rockets back they leave that one on the table just year after year last year was year might have happened ends up getting hurt game five not has fought. And then this year when it really seems like they need a little extra something something from him. And I'm not sure he's at that point of his career anymore where he can give it to them. What do you expect from Chris PA at this point in his career? Yeah. I mean, it's really tough shooting twenty six point eight percent from three in this postseason. Just like it's hard to come back from if you're a team that relies so much on your ability to get solutions that pick and roll play and and bomb away like you need that guy to be you know, to keep keep other guys. Other teams more honest than that, I expect Chris Paul to be a defensive passed. I expect Chris Paul to score like eighteen to twenty three points. And I expect Chris Paul to. You know, not grab the game by the SCRUFF of his neck. And I kinda hate saying that because I love watching Chris Paul graphic game. But I'd SCRUFF of its neck. I was that's been one of the coolest experiences. You know, there was when he was in New Orleans there was that one game. I think it was game one against the Lakers. And he was just like a perfect point guard performance. I remember, and it's like, that's such an amazing thing to watch. And even last year, you know, putting away the jazz at forty some odd points, and it was like harden couldn't couldn't quite get there at that point. So he was the one the push them over the finish line. And yeah, you I have that fear of I'm I'm watching a guy who looks just when you first look at them looks like the guy, Eric ignites. But then as the game goes on, and as you're focusing on like, okay, he can't beat that guy off the dribble anymore. Like, he he gets into traffic, and it's harder for him to get out. And you know, the the the the legs aren't quite in the shot as much anymore. He can you still got great handy. Still got a brilliant mind. You still have you know, he can move the pieces around the chess. Board. But you know, he's not taking the, you know, taking the initiative taking the pieces like he used to be able to do. And that's you know, that that's a bummer. But also that's a function of again, you know, you're playing against teams that you can't afford any slippage against any drop off against. And this is kind of where he's at. And that's the that's it looks like where he's at right now is just he's no longer an eight like an illustrator on the same level for him. And and hardened to be the two guys at that level that you need to be able to compete and this sort of star clustered league. He's just something a little less than that. And that you know with the contract that he they gave him with the expectations that they have for him and the role. He needs to play that say dangerous dangerous place for the rockets today. Thirty three years old nine hundred fifty regular season games. Ninety eight playoff games says hundred playoff game begin for a lot of miles for especially for for six foot point guard. I mean, those guys age like bananas, you know. I it's hard. It starts to get ugly fast. So, you know, the history of guys around that sort of that size and profile once they get on the wrong side of thirty is a little bit troubling. And especially with the injuries that he's had, you know, hamstring stuff is, you know, those things linger, and you know, there are other issues along the way. So I love to be wrong about that. You know, we know at our site. We looked at that sort of all season long. Wondering like is this the time to kind of do the deep dive into is Chris Paul and a different portion of his his ark and charge wind up doing that. And did a wonderful job with it after Paul came back from injury. But it's you know, it looks, you know, the more evidence, you get the more sort of looks like we're just, you know, we're we're seeing him maybe having we'll be we may have already seen the very best of him. And I'm not sure what what that means for the rockets. But I don't think it means anything good. We're gonna take a break. But I have I've hot take on this. That's not even that hot. It's actually lukewarm. But holdout would take. Let's take a break to talk about the all new BMW three series. Don't be driven by technology drive. It the all new BMW three series available with state of the art technology feature after feature of the latest BMW innovation such as intelligent, personal assistant, hands free steering, backup assistant parking system frontal collision warning twin power turbo engine and completely redesigned interior with Kester gesture control yester- gesture way, you love about this technology. So simple easy to use. What you really love. But this vehicle can't be listed or explained in words. It has to be felt on the road. It's a little like saying yada, some person this year can watch it on TV gase person. Yes. See the dude run half, the court three strides and do all the stuff. He gets to do. I feel the way about BMW. Hurry into your local BMW center today. Test drive the all new BMW three series for yourself. This is my favorite car. I don't know. How many times of added edits you? I love BMW all new BMW three series. Don't be driven by technology drive. It BMW the ultimate driving machine. All right. Here's my take. Chris Paul not one of the two best players in the rackets anymore. Ooh. Well, that's that's bad news for Houston. I think Eric Gordon is more valuable. And I think he's better. He's at a second best player on the team. He's definitely been better in this postseason. There's no doubt about that. I mean part of that is just you know, he's you know, he's younger. He's right now, he's healthier. He's more versatile because he's a little bit bigger defensively. It's like it's almost like you supersized Chris Paul a little bit. Like a lot of the same sort of stuff. Like, he's a little fire hydrant, but he just like a little bigger a little longer. I was really impressed at the degree to which Gordon kind of took Donovan Mitchell out of the first round like me too. That was that's not an easy cover. And you know, he basically stuffed him in a locker for five games. And. Yeah, that's the kind of thing that, you know, Chris Paul used to be that kind of guy. Right. You would say whoever the best sort of perimeter player, even if he's taller. Yeah. All right. Put Chris Paul autumn. And he just gonna like, you know, make life miserable forum and right now. Yeah, Gordon has definitely been. I think you can definitely safely say that he's been there. Second best player in this. Postseason. Do they do? They just need a lot more than that. Because they they can really only play like six what six and a half seven guys in the series comfortably. Yeah. Cappella if Capellas getting destroyed, then you're like, you're really relying on Austin rivers. You're really relying on Daniel house. You're crossing your fingers and saying four hail Marys and putting Gerald green in the game. You know, there's a lot of stuff that you. Needs to go. Right. You can't necessarily Bank on and everything gets harder. When you can't put Paul right up at the top of that marquee. I think he's clearly the second best guy in the team. He he did not have a good first half of the season. And I didn't know watching it in real time. I didn't know what was going on. Whether it was like the burden that hard and was taking on whether there was residue effect from game seven last year. And all that stuff really the second half of the year. He's been good. And then in the playoffs. I think he's been really good. And I think he's one of the better two way players. We have right now. I'd actually be interested to see him on a different team, which isn't gonna happen for at least a year because the keys of free agent after a two thousand nineteen twenty. But part of me wonders was there more to was there. More to his game. Had he been like the true number two guy in a really good team. What would happen because there's not a lot of really skilled two way guards in the league at this point. Right. I feel the same way about quite Thompson. We pigeonhole these guys as you're going to be in the corner, you'll get to shoot eight nine threes a game, and you're going to guard the other guys other teams. Guard. But that's who you are. And it's like, do you think there was more there were there? Gordon? Absolutely. I mean, you know, you think back to whatever that will, you know, it's twenty eleven lockout. And the the proposal trade that sent him to LA he was like, the centerpiece of the return, right? Yeah. There's that unfortunate hostage photo of him. And Chris and yeah. Yeah. I knew and whatever came back, but then he he there. There's just a persistent injury issues which has as we've seen over the years have been a big problem with New Orleans different iterations of the team. But please nine games his first season in New Orleans. Forty two his second never played more than sixty four games during his time in New Orleans, and that's like the sense to his prime ages twenty three through twenty seven. And so all that kind of like. Nasty bowling ball driver that he was in LA. He never we never really got to see that grow and mature. And then by the time he's like an almost like an distressed asset when he gets to Houston in two thousand sixteen and all of a sudden, then the minute start to click new seventy five game sixty nine games, sixty eight games. And but you're still seeing like he's more of the spacer. He's more of the like somebody else breaks down the defense and kicks to him. And then he attacks against them being sort of shuffled up. He's never not really like the primary guy actually doing that breaking down or getting the usage at that same level be and nor nor should he have been in a team with harden like that. But do you d- you watch giver, flip channels when the all America gives around and watch us? All oh, you mean like McDonald's games? Yeah. I not really. But I I know that when he was when he was coming out, and he was going Indiana. It was like this guy's revolutionary, right? Yeah. And the guys from that era. I think you know, you had three years in a row where Durant was in the six game like his. Class and then Gordon's class was oh seven and then the oh a class were all the guys that were in the draft, basically. But the o seven game is is fascinating. Because there's a bunch of good guys in it. And for some reason when they pick the teams, so this is the two thousand seven east team the players, you would know honor our JJ Hickson. Johnny Flynn, Dante green Kosta Kufa's OJ. Mayo nNcholas and Patrick Patterson say all right. I know some of those guys right Dante who believe when the first round of the big three draft last night. Right. Right. So so that's where that's what his destiny was right? They were playing the oh seven west team. Which had James harden? Blake griffin. Erik gordon. Derrick rose, Michael. Beasley jeered Bela's. Kyle Singler coal Aldridge and Kevin love, James Anderson. Oh my God. James Anderson, the legend, he's best guy in this team. How did they split those teams up? It's like the worst job was ever. Fair completely fair and equitable distribution of power. No question about I don't know what somebody must have money in that game. So quickly on unto rant who's been out of his mind here for two weeks and this happens every so often with him. He's you know, one of the best twelve to fourteen guys ever. He is one of the best four forwards ever. And every once in a while he'll go on a hot streak, computer. Like, whoa. You know, who's really good? Kevin. Oh my God. Well, he's really good, man. He's one of the best offensive players. We've had why do people constantly have to be reminded that? Kevin Durant is one of the best basketball players who ever had. What is it about him? I don't get it. I mean, he's paying the tax. This is his he he there's I it's like the beginning of LeBron in Miami. Where people were just like, I don't give a shit. I'm not voting for him. You know, like this is you know, he made that Joyce and he went over there. And he put his thumb on the scale, and he ruined the league and yada yada, yada. So like, I'm not gonna give it to them. And no matter how good is numbers are how efficient he is. Or whatever I'm not gonna put him in top top three top four MVP voting because how valuable can you be when you also have that whole galaxy of stars with you? I did the same thing. I I did our big awards ballot. I don't have an official, but it's the awards for the site. And I was like I don't think I can put either Durant or curry top five because they siphoned sort of the votes off of one another and then you get to this time of year. And you're like, oh, yeah. That was stupid. That's really dumb thing to do if you're, but I mean, obviously, there's a difference between the season and just the way the, you know, the value of the player sort of overall. But yeah, I mean, you get to this time of year, and he's just the he's the skeleton key. He unlocks any defense. You can throw at them. Because if we saw last year you switch everything you grind it down. He's the isolation score that can get his shot over anybody and hit it against anybody. You put them head up with LeBron and in a seven game series. And it's not going going seven because he's the one that can play him straight up. Yeah. Always I've always sort of felt I think. Think he's he said it in conversation with you that idea that when he beat LeBron and the finals the first time he sort of took the reins and lay the passing the torch moment, I think a lot of people are their eyebrows at that and didn't really buy it. But I think you know, charges written about that. We've talked about it a few times in different posts that we've done. I don't know that you can say there's a a single player in the sport right now who like collects and compiles and aggregates elite skills any better or to a greater degree than him. Maybe fully healthy Kawai. Maybe you can say that. But there's really aren't very many. And you know, I'm obviously LeBron. We'll we'll get respect in that conversation for as long as people have that conversation. But there if you had to start to pick one guy to win one game right now, I don't know that that you that you go very far or would take anybody before Durant. It's just that, you know, the context in which he put himself, you know, gets him. You know, I it takes five percent or ten percent of the luster off or whatever. Because people just don't want to give it to them. Yeah. I agree with that. I I was looking at the two thousand sixteen seventeen MVP. So that was the year. He went to the words, they went sixty seven games. He had a really good season. He's one of the best five players in the world. And he was ninth in the MVP kid he had two votes for fifth place. And that was it. It was one of the one of the bigger. Fuck you votes of. Yeah. Anybody in MVP move had some good fuck you votes. Like LeBron in two thousand eleven I think he was like third or something. But yeah, I think. We get confused sometimes between regular season versions is somebody platform since to somebody and an Edsel same thing would happen with the Brian where the Brown would play while in the playoffs and people go it's ridiculous that he wasn't the he should be the MVP every year for ten years. And it's like that's not what we're supposed to vote on. We're supposed to vote on the regular season. What happened in the regular season? And who you know who affected the game night after night the most and who affected their team the most who was the most valuable to their team. I had my my MVP this Jared Janas Hardin I'd Yokich third a Lillard fourth, and I couldn't figure out a fifth, and I ended up putting Paul Georgia's the fifth because I just felt like he meant more night tonight to his team than than anyone else. Did never in a million years. Did I think Paul George is better than Kevin Durant? Right right right now. And that's kind of the folly of these things. I I was I remember being really frustrated about this. When. Wrote my book that we didn't have playoff MVP's. They there were just certain years where somebody was the finals invade like Tony Parker was the oh seven finals MVP. But it's ludicrous. Tim Duncan was the most important player in that team. You know, and I think in Durant case he has been the best player in the playoffs. Two years in a row. And now this year he's the best player in the playoffs against three years in a row in two thousand sixteen he stunk in the biggest game of his okay, see career, unfortunately for him. But that had a chance to be four years in row. They had just won that series and gotten rid of Klay Thompson in the in the words, but you know, this is this is Ben a pretty significant second half of the decade for him. And I think you could make the case that he was the best player the second half decade at this point if they win the were if they win the finals again, he's got three straight finals and all the team's success. He's had and what happened a LeBron with the Lakers this year to rent? Year after year has been fifty to sixty seven wins in less that one year. He was heard I think they went forty seven but year after year after year, no matter who else was on the team the guys taint one yet and has continued to sort of grow his game. You know, like to the point where he's he was basically their backup point guard for a lot of the season or all the different stuff that he can do now like when he locks it in and he's like defensive player of the year caliber on a guy for games at a time. All of a sudden, he's the center in some of these lineups and stuff like that. Yeah. I mean, it's it's it's a great like, you know, fodder for debate kind of thing. Because I think people are never people are never going to give him that level of respect for. What has he has accomplished during this warriors run because of the context in which he accomplished it? And so we do that with the broad. I mean, we did. And then we kind of gave up on it. And even when he went back to Cleveland, and by the way, I'm not trying to turn this into a Katy versus the brand thing. She's more to me. It's more of like a perception thing. Lebron went back to Cleveland. It's like he's coming home disease. He's gonna retire here. Now that it's like that's not why he did it. He did it because they had Kyrie Irving and the the number one picking the draft. They knew they could trade for Kevin love he knew they're going to spend a shitload of money and either going to contend I went back to Cleveland. It wasn't. I'm coming home. He he wanted to win a title there. But it wasn't like he was going to retire their Ray, right? I wonder if maybe it's because LeBron got his teeth kicked in that first year that first year in Dallas like people felt bad. We went too far there came a point where it was like, all right? He gave his pound of flesh a little bit. You know, he's, you know, he's he spent his time in, you know, you know, you he received a sentence from the court of public opinion, and, you know, time served, and let's move along. And and then he came back and he earned those titles. They the the that he team won, you know, one of the greatest NBA finals ever with the comeback against the Spurs, and you know, the winning back to back and so on and so forth like he. In him elevating his game to that level. There was that crazy. There was the crazy win streak. And there was the the seer the month and a half where he was like sixty five percent from the floor or whatever the efficiency. And so he's sort of elevated his game to be worthy. I guess quote, an air quotes or whatever of that stature that he's sort of put put himself in. And so like the by the time that was done. It was like, okay. You know? Yeah. Fair enough. You it was like you you that was your four years of college, and you grew up and now you're going out to something different. We have Durant. It was just like, you know, he goes from school from school into like a seven figure job and has like zero str- struggle along the way and just continue to like, right promotions, and promotions and promotions and accolades and accolades and accolades and people are like enough. We like, what's what's the fun of this for turning the competition slider down? I think that's an overblown way of thinking about it. But I think that's probably why some people are would view those cases differently. And that's why I think it's fascinating. It will be very fascinating if Kevin Durant decides to go to a different team this summer say hypothetically, one closer to where I live. I maybe that. I may be grew up rooting for and changes changes. See if that changes the perception of him. I'd be interested to see if that if that happens, but you're absolutely right in terms of actual just on-court performance and skill and everything like that dude has been at a very different level the last few years, and you might we might be seeing the best version of that right now. I think you know, they're both great. The bronze had a greater career. I think the difference with them is LeBron has to be the center of attention with his team for the team the succeed the most if he's kind of on the side or doing the dueling banjos thing or whatever like what we saw with the with the heat in two thousand eleven I think it's hard for him, though is figure out how he's fitting in. And the the one thing I've always avoid has been impressed with rent with was his ability to. Vacillate between supporting guy and main guy and how comfortable he is how he can affect the game. If if he's scored sixteen points or if he doesn't get a lot of shots in a game. And but yet has that switch where he can turn it on. And you know, I watched what he's done with the words the last few years he talked about it. The I pod we did he talked about our heart. It was the to learn how to fit in with the with them and had move with the ball, and nobody ever really told him to move for eight years. And then when you know had a share shots in all these things he's learned how to do. But then you get to a series like the rockets where they really need them. You know, they the only way we're really going to score down the stretch as if we put you on the right side, and we clear out for you. And it's like old school basketball one on one stuff, but he can do that too. I just think he's a really unique player. I they we certainly have not seen anybody built like him. I think it's really hard for a forward. To wear all the hats that he does during a typical game bird was able to do that to where you know, he could affect a game feeling to ten of fourteen chats something like that. I don't think Nowitzki was ever on that level. I think Dunkin was although Duncan whether he was a centre whatever, but very rarely can somebody kind of see what the team needs and then figured out from there. I was felt like LeBron. His best situation was always the one when he was running it. And I and I don't mean that in a selfish way. I just mean like that's kind of how he was conditioned for the first seven years of his calves career where it's like he had the ball all the time. And that's just what he got used to. I think the rant got out of the okay thing just in time where he was able to learn, you know, a couple of different ways to play not just the way they used them in. Okay. See does that make sense totally enemy? In fact. I think he's you know, he's been on the record of futa. Few different interviews some of those. Big takeouts after he made the choice like that was what he was looking for. He wanted. It was not just about going to win a title. It was about according to him like expanding his game figuring out. It's not just a pursuit of hardware. It's a pursuit of something to hit to hear him. Tell it like something bigger something purer than that. What if you give give into as you said, you know, we've never seen somebody sort of this Bill this size. This talent base. All these sorts of things you take those materials and say, what is the absolute bleeding edge maximum of what this player can be. That's according to him. That's what he wanted to find out. Like, what if you put me in a context where I have to grow? These other parts of my game. I have to push push past my comfort zone and get these sort of weak points into strengths and with you know, with Ron Adams on the defensive end as an off ball mover as somebody who can cut and screen and play a role and be a facilitator, and you know, you know, a high efficiency passer, but. Low turnover guy all these sorts of things. And so he's ironed out like every wrinkle there has been in his game to the point where you look at it. And it's just pristine, and that's what you know charts wrote that story calling basically like the ultimate player at this point. And I think it's really hard to if you're just talking about what he is as a basketball player. It's feels like this is maybe if he's maybe reached that pinnacle may and the the scariest thing or maybe the most exciting thing is maybe that's not true. Maybe there's even another level that he can get to here. But I think what we're seeing in this postseason. You know, the way he just decimated. The the the clippers in round one the way that Houston just has no answer for him. I I'd be really interested to see if they move on. And who they face down the line. You know, what kind of ups could even give him problems at this point. Yeah. Because I think he's re he's reached a level where it's just like whatever thing it is that you can do to me. I have the answer for it. And it's pretty it's pretty impressive to watch. I remember with LeBron. In two thousand thirteen the third by season when they had the twenty seven game streak the first four months of that season. I felt like he went to a whole other level. And that was the one time when he elect he was using all the pieces of himself. Any didn't even totally care. He had the ball the time. Remember when he was like the first two months of that season. We were wondering if he could shoot sixty percent for the season yet. He was all about like, the efficiency and Ella competition with weighed like, you know, your your field goal percentage. It's gotta be above fifty or else. You trash right. Yeah. And and there was a team play OMB. And to what he was doing in the way he was playing off his teammates and a comfort. And I thought that was the best stretch his career what I'm saying from Durant lately makes me feel like that. But he's also done that, you know, he's played like that the last two finals to I feel like he's got in this thing. But you know, you mentioned what else is left, and you mentioned the next, and I don't wanna talk about the Knicks. Whoa. Whoa. I didn't say now. Saying actually, you know, what I let's take a break. We've only seen him in the position. Of really caring team in the old school traditional. I'm the only great guy in this team. Get on my back fellas way was his MVP year. When I think Westbrook had gotten hurt for yet. I'm gonna games that he missed he promised like thirty five something like that. But Durant had this just incredible statistical year think he was like thirty two eight close to fifty forty nine these splits, and it was really one of the better statiscal years anybody's had. And that was really the only time he's had to do that. And I guess like if he won a title again, here the words, which had seems like that's becoming more and more realistic. It kind of would be fun to see him try to do that on an inferior team it maybe that's the last challenge for him. I don't know. What do you think? I know you have a team in mind. Maybe for that. I mean, I I don't like the suggestion that they are inferior. But. But I will say, yeah. And it's kind of funny because you saw it a little earlier this season two in a sort of smaller sample, but when Steph went down for like a month there three weeks there like beginning November and Durant had to kind of be the entire offense. Yeah. And the production was kind of I mean, the record wasn't great. But the production was nuts. He had that like over a twelve game stretch thirty three point three points, eight point three rebounds, six point, two assists. The three point percentage was down because that was sort of down for him all season, but the playmaking reached a different level. He had that run where it was like forty forty points in three or four straight games fifty one against the raptors. And he was just like a monster. And you say to the to your point what you mentioned earlier you like. Oh, right. This is Kevin Durant. Les? Yes. He can just do everything and at at an elite level, I would be I think as a fan just seeing what what that looks like unleash that was like in the same way that and honestly I felt like that. About the Westbrook season where I was like I want to see what it looks like if you turned it up to eleven and then and then tore the knob off. Yeah. I kind of feel like that now as we've gone on we've seen, you know, their diminishing returns on that with with Westbrook, and particularly with a, you know, with his individual sort of strengths and weaknesses as a player like that. That can only propel team so far. Maybe that would also be true with Durant. If you like had him using thirty five percent of of teams possessions. And he's the the primary initiator he's handling the ball. All the time. I kind of doubt it because I think he's so much more of a complete player. But I'd be really interested to see what that looks like. And what kind of team you would put around a player like that? But, but yeah, the the point that larger point is, obviously, I personally I would love it. If he was in New York personally that would be a kind of a wonderful thing to see. I don't know. I don't know that it would make him really happy because I don't I think dealing with all the stuff that comes with being on the Knicks, and it's particularly fun. But wherever he decides to you know, whatever you decide to do if he decides to go down that path of like, it's my team. I'm the number one guy. Everything is running through. Me. I think that could be a really fascinating sort of experiment and into you built yourself into this complete player over the last few years now like turn that loose on the league. And see what it looks like. I remember the I pod we did with them. I think rich came on at one point in somebody asked what was the most points he'd ever scored in a game. And he said like sixty six and it was like that the famous record parking. Yeah. And then it was like what about a real games? Like, I don't know. He's like I just I don't care about like how many points I'm gonna scorn a game. Like to me, the more interesting thing, I'm paraphrasing what he said. But his something like this is like to be the more interesting thing is can I score in the thirties for like three straight weeks. Like, he cares. Would. He cares about is the consistency of excellence. Not like, oh like like a Devon Booker. I seventy five in a game. And it's like, yeah. You're team won eighteen games. I think he liked to him. I could see him being on the Nixon saying and be like a month straight where he's scores thirty five points in every game. Like that kind of stuff. I think that's what floats is both. He really doesn't. I don't think he cares about point totals. I really don't. I think he cares. More about like the flow of what's going on. Is he feeling it is the team winning and doing what it takes to kind of win? I've I've been to games where it seemed like he could add like seventy and he just doesn't care like once once the game's over he checks out, which it it's remarkable to be to have somebody at that level to make that choice to be able to be like, I this could go as far as I want it to go. But you know, I only needed to go so far the selfish part of me would always love to see what it looks like if you let it go as far if you pushed as far as it could go, but we maybe that's part of what makes him special as that. He doesn't need that. Yeah. Twenty seven game for his career. And then in the playoffs. He. He is at. Twenty eight point nine Jesus. I don't know. I'm looking at LeBron. I'm sorry. No. He's an he's he's twenty nine point one twenty nine point one till pointing seven point eight rebounds, four assists on forty seven thirty five eighty six shooting splits because the or the early part of his career is I playoff seasons, the shoot numbers were down. But yeah, I mean, an absolute monster the likes of which we've rarely seen an F EPA the twenty nine game cannot be taken lightly because you're talking of I looked this up actually for the pot. I wanted to give you one little nugget that you could take when you go to pick up pick up your kid later you by dropping car. Only seven guys have played a hundred playoff games at least in the first eleven years of their career and everage twenty eight points a game in the in those first eleven years now, he's at twenty nine m is number one west is to katie's three Hakeem Elgin shack and LeBron a mistake Listrik. He. Yeah. Jordan, west K D Akeem Elgin shack, LeBron that's the company he's in Bilo. The playoffs are what matter not the regular season? So you're talking about this is one of the great Platte performers. We've had he has a chance to win his third straight title. He has been relevant really for this entire decorate decade as least as a playoff guy, and and this is substantial and he has a chance this year. This has a chance to be his signature playoff. He's at. I think thirty four game now small sample size. But you know. If you average thirty four game for like fifteen Plath games you're year now in a different category. There's only a couple of guys that have done that. So very quickly before you go. Biggest surprise for you in round two. So far. I think the fact that Philly held Toronto like that in game two. I think the fact that they really quieted them down at Toronto. I thought it was going to put the match up was such that Toronto is going to run through Philly basically to and so seeing that defensive performance from the rat from the Sixers game to seeing Ben Simmons like there's there's so many issues within Simmons. And you know, people, you know, they're great things about him there things that people have an issue with you know, if Kevin O'Connor was here of short, we would much a much longer conversation about it. But seeing the way he competed defensively against Kawhi Leonard. Like, you're not gonna stop from scoring. But just he was working his ass off around every screen getting, you know, getting small to get around screens getting big to get in his his airspace. All that sort of stuff. I thought that was like real is really really impressive. And for them to go out and have that kind of performance against a really good Toronto team to knock them on their back back on their heels even on a night where you had less than one hundred percent. Lead where he wasn't in wasn't scoring like that. Even when Simmons was barely touching the ball on offense. Like, I thought that was really really impressive. So and surprised me like I the the other series being, you know, one one or Goldens even golden sapient up to o over over the the rockets like that's not shocking to me. I kind of thought that this you know, that there's just too thin and to sort of to the pieces in Philly, maybe just didn't match up the right way for them to be able to put together that kind of forms. But I was it was really really impressive. And I think now I it it opens forces Toronto to have to answer some questions, and I'm pretty interested to see what they come back with the P Shiro today for the ringer. You mentioned how Brown's Brig big brainstorm for game two is to put to move everybody around and put him beat NC ACA, which is weird. I it's something I certainly never would have thought of an through Siaka and kind of through the raptors from what they wanted to do. I guess the catch will be it's a little bit of a gimmick. And now the. Raptors have some time to figure out really had to exploit that. Because if you're gonna put him beat unsee com. Now, I have to rethink how you Siachen away were now, maybe I can pull him beat away from the basket, and that opens up a whole bunch of other things that I might wanna get gone. So my guess is if if ilise sticks with that, I think Toronto will have some wrinkles ready. And I don't know if that's a sustainable gimmick. It worked. It did what it needed to do. But I'm not sure it'll keep working, you know, you very well might be right about that. I think what makes it really interesting though, is that it sort of puts to the test. This like what level is PASCAL Ceac at you know, like, yeah, he's if he's ready if he's like good enough to be able to say, right? I I took that shot. And now I come back to it. And I have an answer for it. Then I think it paints the sort of nearer future for Toronto in a very different light. Because right now, he's a guy that like, you know, the statistical community loves and the NBA nerds like us love, but hasn't really broken through in a big way because he's like the second or third or fourth guy, you would think of on that team just by name recognition. But if he comes back against this, and it's like. I'm going to put up big big performances against Joel Embiid and second round of the playoffs. All of a sudden, it's like holy shit. This guy's here. So it's sort of it puts him to to a challenge to a test and how they respond to it. I think it's going to be really fascinating to say. It's funny except for the warriors because I they're just to talented their their enemies themselves. The every team has one guy who is kind of the guy that their fan base is secretly not sure if the plants get shoved where it's on that person's lap. Is that person gonna come through? Right. So Siaka has good. I almost voted him for thirteen ambi-. He's been amazing. But the Sixers and output in the series in his hands and saying we're going to move all the stuff around Siaka. Gms basically have to beat us now. And we don't know if he can do it. And then go to Milwaukee walkie looks great puts us playing. Well, I don't trust their what. So that the ultimately he's gonna swing that Boston series. One way or the other Denver's, you know, everybody knows it's Jamal Murray. If he has it they can they feel like they can beat anybody. If he doesn't have it feels like they can't beat anybody in Houston's case weirdly, it's Capella. 'cause now that he's been just completely neutered in this worrier series. A I I was surprised how dramatic of an impact that's had on them. Aso? I know dre mom's really good. I don't understand how they've taken out cappella to this degree because you would have thought watching the last series with all the success Harrow hat on the screen roles. I just would've assumed Capello would have also had the success. I don't know what the difference is. Do you have an opinion on that quickly? I think part of it might just be sort of for lack of a better term like relentlessness, you if you if you go away from Harrell, if you let him to sort of Rome, he's going to Rome and knock something over he's going to screen somebody blind and open up a, you know, a flare on the backside. He's gonna get he's going to work his way eventually to Lou Williams to open him up and cappella it's kinda like you can kind stuff them in a drawer a little bit. Or if he's just hanging around at the, you know, the dunker spot on the baseline, you know, you're not you have to. I if you aren't. Super worried about the law because you know, you could dream on can play up and faint at harden. And then get back and contested or whatever if the help defenders are ready to launch in an intercept those passes, it's kind of like what can he do? And he's not making himself useful in other ways. Like you. He's not rampaging up to go set screens and roll. And whatever he's not. He can't do anything with the ball in his hands really besides finish. And not that. That's I mean, that's very valuable skill. But yeah, not impacting the game in other ways. And then on defense like Harold for a smaller guy, but he's also really really active on the perimeter. And he's smaller, and you can get around screens, and he can, you know, work through those sorts of things and Capellas kind of like if they get them on an island, whereas that has been a real success for him in the years past it's sort of like Tristan Thompson that was that was a really important skill that he had and then all of a sudden he didn't have it. And so I don't know I'm not saying like Capellas has lost that skill. But I'm saying if he's not really great at it right now, he becomes a liability on both ends of the floor. So then. Yeah, you're you're. You're praying for Daniel house. You're trying to figure out what the answers are on the flight, the the they can't not play him. He just he has to not get destroyed in the minute cities out there. I think for Phileas Ben Simmons as the guy for their fans and just in general, they're swing guy. But sometimes it's it's Butler too. I don't know who it is for Portland because you know. I guess she would say McCollum, but he's actually been pretty reliable. He's been awesome. Who you say, you believe would you believe and his canter? I I you know, I own property on cancer. Sort of an archipelago man, if you sort of disparate disparate landmasses, it's great. He's he's been like he is rebuilding his reputation as an encore basketball player in real time. Like, I remember I can remember our friend Zach Lowe one point calling him like a dog shit player because he was like you couldn't as as Billy Donovan said like you couldn't play him in pick and roll coverage in the playoffs against teams that we're going to attack him. He's been awesome in the playoffs. He's he's competing azoff defensively. He's we know with one arm, basically, he's battling on the glass. He took the ball right at Yokich to get it to attack him make him work on defense. He's been great. He's been everything they could have hoped for as a buyout guy picking him up off the scrap people in the next let him go as like a in case of emergency backup behind her pitch. And now, he's maybe the third most important guy on that team. I it's been pretty remarkable. And it's and frankly, kind of cool because like there comes a point where you you think like, I know exactly who. Guy is and I don't need to really think about that guy too much anymore. I know. Yeah. You you in russillo talked about the ngelo Russell sorta like that. It's like, I kind of know who that guy is. But Kanter is a veteran, you know, it it's not just like a twenty one year old is going to develop a new skill candidate. It's like we have a track record here. And he saying like, no actually you can play me right now. And I'm going to you know, work my ass off to be valuable here. Whether that's just sort of contract year, push or whatever. Like, I it. It seems like it really matters to him to be like, yeah. No. You can play me right now. And he's been awesome. If he's really good, then, you know, this Portland could absolutely wind up in the conference finals. And I I don't think anybody would have expected that coming into the season after the last one ended I feel vindicated. I never gave up on them. And I still think that event should've played them in sixteen like, all right? He's getting destroyed but the rest of your team stinks too. So you can do a couple of things in case. You're wondering the the guys for Boston. There's not one guy. There's like for them. The hope is that two of them don't sail south in the same game. Which is what happened in game two. 'cause it's basically Tatum Hayward Brown they need to of those three guys to play well in a playoff game. If they go one for three it's dicey. And if they go over three d you know, write it off it's done, but you saw game to 'cause they can always rally of one of those guys doesn't show up. But if two or three than than they're in a lot of trouble. This was fun. Thanks for coming on. Thanks for everything with ringer. The share? It's been really fun to work with you. I know the I know you're a big fan. You've a lot of fans with the with the staff, especially the copy desk creek crew, your pro's, pro take you tell people what you're gonna write you turn it in people love it. I mean, I shouldn't get a whole lot of credit for that. Like, literally literally the job, but I will say I so I got to I got here. The before the start of the season. And you know, whatever can shine this on you can cut it out if you want, but like it has been an amazing experience working with like real professional people that have like a safety net, and they wanna make what's going to make the best version of the thing in super super cool. And so yeah, that that's that's been my pleasure and the piano, the people that I've been working with with Justin barrier, Danny Chow, and Chris l Mehta the other editors are just, you know, it's been awesome. So. My gig is to ripe try to write one thing. That's interesting a day. And it's been a lot of fun to get to do it. So hopefully, I I will say as you said, thanks for all you've done this year. I was like shit. Am I getting fired fired on the podcast? That'd be rough. Really you. I frankly, I tell me off air who you'd be getting I'd like to know SAM's now, I would never do that to you. So your senses are all like just heightened and a it's funny. I can't remember what did like three weeks ago? And I still remember like every single thing about that day, including my wife was in labor. She she had like one of the like a false labor. A couple times a man like we went in the hospital night before and there, and then you're not ready yet. And that morning, she was like, I think I'm reading I'm like, I haven't even had coffee your, so I go I sat I were driving to the hospital. We're going to cedar Sinai, and but I hadn't had coffee, and I'm like me the hospital like avenue, enter coffee. So we stop at Starbucks on. Lebron the trait me go in and there's this actress there who played who is professor somebody professor Lucinda Nicholson from that. Oh to know she had an affair with Bryn and freshman year of college site that tutto. So we're in there, and I'm like, wow. That was weird. So a walk it out my coffee, and I'm like, you're not going to be. I saw there by wife was like dry effort, and it was like kick it in. And so yes. And every time I see listened to Nicholson and anything I was think about how. How how I was starting to my wife the story about running or Starbucks, and my wife was just looking at me with like, no people's or is it any point? So he drove there in fourteen years later, I have a child that has five foot eight and is super talented, and is a very nice kid and was even on our own podcast last week continue thirty three for reels check it out did a really good job. If you saw how the Spurs season ended, but you were down. Thirty seconds left and. And everybody's just said there and Yokich held it for like, twenty seconds. And then the game ended. Did you see I think is important? I think it's important that I tell everybody right now that you did not tell me we were going to talk about this. Otherwise, I would not have answered the phone. He was comfortable. He was like surprisingly personable, but I never felt like five years later. He was going to host like this really funny cooking show with. I'm very jealous of that idea. Though. I I I really want to acquire that for the ringer in the in the off season, John wick, we are now two weeks away. But you've already seen it you've seen John wick three. Yes, you not only have seen John wick three you came in the office. And you bragged about Saint John wick three which I didn't appreciate. That's that's that was there's a couple of those that are like that. We just saw fighting for my family fighting with my face the rest of the movie, which my son on the, but you know, I like to support the rock franchise Ellen was really that was really solid to. All right. Let's do it. It's time. Cobra KAI Cobra KAI? So we watched we watched we banged it out of my house last week. I finished it like five six days ahead of you, which I was really excited about and and then two nights ago. My sons I k- dad you wanna watch karate kid. I'm like, okay. Like he's seen it ten times. We watch that one. And I got to say the last half hour of credit kid one really does hold up thirty five years later. It's really really strong. But it's amazing to me how they were able to reinvent that movie into this YouTube series that I devoured. And and I was really mad after the last one. Why was I mad shape because you were madder than I was what happened now we're in spoilers zone. If you haven't seen yet turned the pot off. We'll see next time. While we're at the end of season two. Yeah. Why were you mad? You're mad even more than I was. And I was really mad because they they tried to kill McGill. What are you doing? What is happening with season two. Okay. I have several issues with with season, two Cobra KAI. But let me say these are like these are stylistic issues are not was disagree. It's a great show season two as a lot of fun to watch. It's wonderful. Yeah. We like to think now we're gonna complain about it two. We love season two. Let's complain about season two. I don't understand how you have McGill D S the best character from season one yet. And then you just throw him in the background for season two. Like you've got shocked down low throw him the ball and let them cause some trouble. Let's get bad Miguel de as out here just bullying everybody. We didn't get it. That was the one thing. I wanted to see NC's in two I wanted bad Miguel de as and we did not get it. It was. A little bit. Like the the last game of thrones episode where they had the dragons and their hip pocket, and we're ready to unleash them. I felt Miguel is like a dragon like if so you've created this. Great feral good unleash the dragon. What I feel so good barely so good. What are they doing? I felt like they were trying to create this extra layer of maybe he's not sure he should be this evil. And that's absolutely what they're doing. Yeah. But it didn't work because they didn't really devote enough time to it. It was kind of. Yeah. It through a couple of scenes in there where where there were hints that he was about to become a good guy. But they never committed to an F. I I wish you'd ask me in shape because we would've told, you know, go the other. Where sky it was weird. They gave all his bad guys stuff to the guy that the mohawk. I can't play with hawk hawk ally. They made hawk more of a bad guy, but Miguel is somehow in the middle straddling these two worlds of good guy, bad guy, and I disagreed would not have done that yet. I I disagree with that as well at the end of season one when Miguel has made the full turn and he's just a bad kid in the tournament. And he he's like, you know, taking the cheap shots and doing all this stuff. It was. So that was the best part of the series of so much fun to watch him finally hit that while it was fun to watch him knocking these kids down. And then standing over them screaming at them. What a bad guy should do. And. Yeah, I thought we were going to get that in in season to any such a good actor that kid is such a good actor. He's so good at like one second just making you be all the way in love with them. Yeah. And then in an instant he can turn it on and be like he can be intimidating which is hard to do. He can be intimidating without saying anything or doing anything. He could just do it in his face. We I like a little glimpse of. When he was like when he was bucking back against crease. And he was like, no that's not as a sense as teaching us and crease walks up on him, and you see it in his face. And I was like oh shit. We're about to get the crease versus Miguel de. Yeah. Happening. And we and we didn't get it by we got the hawk and the dias fight, which was unbelievable to bad guys. Just sort of going at it and Miguel right there. He's like I'm gonna show you a little bit better than you are and fucking smashes his face off of his head. It was unreal. I love Miguel DSL much might be my favorite character on the internet right now, if we're if we count his all his TV Taylor is I Taylor from billions yet and Miguel dias right underneath Taylor for billions. It's I wound Taylor forbe's isn't is incremental the as over Miguel dias right now because they didn't give me bad go this season. One. Give me that Miguel Diaz over everybody else season to Miguel. You know, I I don't know. I think I think part of the reason they were doing it too is. To set up the thing at the end where he falls off the stairs. You have to feel bad for him in that moment. You know, if if like if they had done that to Johnny at the end of karate kid, you had been like good. Fuck it. I I hope he's paralyzed from the waist down. I hate Johnny. He was such a good bad guy. Yeah. They were they're giving you just enough just enough. So that you still like genuinely loved D as so that when that scene happened it, you know, everything fell out of you. You know? It struck me watching especially the last episode. Whether would have made more sense to have bad Miguel de as agree. You know agree with you on that side men kick, Johnny Lawrence's son over the railing. And it's like Miguel de has has gone to even more horrible place. He's basically tried to murder somebody. Now, I think I would have liked that direction more than the direction they ended up with where now it's like, Johnny Lawrence's, son. Well, how could he do that you almost kill them? And now they're going to sit up some inner turmoil. Not share. I'm as interested in that character. Yeah. I think I think what ends up happening. I think what they might be trying to do is might be trying to get Robbie back over there with Johnny. They gonna lead Johnny bad again. Robbie with Gil McGill goes with this. Yeah. So and he's like he's always been a good kid. And now he gets to be the new Miguel de as would be a fantastic Daniel Russo. Like, he has that same sort of charisma that same sort of likeability that same almost Wallner ability. But like you still believe in him. I he can do any of these roles. I would like to see a bad bad guy, Robbie Keane? That's I if that's the play then I'll apologize, and let's go for season three I want to see all that happen. So I don't know if you've seen this prediction yet. But I think this is a really good prediction. They set up at the tail end of season two they set up. He gets the Facebook friend request accepted from Allie Allie with an I I think they established earlier in in the first season that she's a doctor, right? She's she's like a surgeon or something. Right. Right. Right. Is it possible that she's the one who? Saves Miguel from being like a paraplegic and fixes fixes his back. I would love for that to happen. They bring her infra season three. I would love it. She does the surgery Daniel sign in his way for on the kind of hinted at it. They got back together near the end of the season two. But maybe Danielson and his wife are on the outs. And now Dr alley comes back. And now, we got a little love triangle action. She fixes Miguel's back Miguel ends up with Daniel alley. John Lawrence kinda go down there road. And then Johnny Lawrence's son is in there too with on the Janet arsenide rate. That's that could be that could be a good ending last episode. So they had a couple of different group fight scenes in this in Cobra kassy's into which I enjoyed yes. The last episode the high school fight saying, which is just one of the most absurd over the top unrealistic. It's like John wick three breaks out of their high school that scene was really well directed well shot and well executed, I actually it was pretty pleased with would would. Did you think, you know? I was just had lunch with my cousin. We were having this exact same conversation. I was one hundred percent surprised at how good how violent how authentic that fight seemed between everybody yet are all they're all mad at each other. First of all have all been waiting all season to square off. There's no tournament this time. We don't know how they're going to get this fight. It finally happens. It's just the fucking may lay all through the high school, and the and these kids were fighting they were they were hand to hand combat. This was like a junior version of the raid that we're watching they were going with. It was good. It was it was. So they were so good. Every single person in this fight was was unbelievable. Like, okay. So it starts out with with. What's her? What's the characters? Name her real name is Peyton oh took the the bad girl. The waitress the evil waitress get, yeah. I know her real name is. Peyton list yet? I can't I can't remember her character. Name all of a sudden, I'm blanking, Tori. Yeah. And she was fighting Daniela Rousseau's daughter, and they're just going she's fighting Sam, and this is just spilling onto the hallway. And then Robbie comes in and Miguel comes in, and they're all they all just as I do. You know, what fuck we're all gonna fight everybody. And you kept waiting for them to break. You kept waiting for Robbie and Miguel to get at it. You kept waiting for for those are the two to get to get like their moment where they're just fucking battle. It was on. It was it was unbelievable Bill was so good. It was so good. I actually likely Russa's daughter as a character. I think she's pretty solid even when yes, she's wonderful. She she kissed me gallon, and I was okay with it. So let me ask you your reaction on this. My my son loves Cobra KAI the actual the DOJ. Oh, Cobra KAI? I think he's rooting for the bad guys as just this. Yes. He's into the chance. He he feels like maybe crease has some good ideas. Maybe. Mercy might be better to should. I be worried. You should absolutely be where there's no way that that's going to turn out well for you. He I think he likes it because in real life. You're not allowed to be boys like boys, it's frowned upon. And rightly so, but the Cohen Cobra KAI show is the one place where boys can still be boys. So he kind of enjoys it anyway. But in the bully, well, he kind of enjoys the whole concept of a bully, which is now basically gone in your only can live on the show like Cobra KAI, but he likes to whole like hawk just being completely over the top. And then getting his come up and set the end and all that stuff. We don't don't get that in real life anymore and real-life everybody's nice to each other. And they should be. But. You Bill Simmons pro bullying. We know what it is. I'm just explaining with a maniac by centers. Kyle yet. Kyle's here is great. Kyle. Are you surprised at been is rooting for the Cobra KAI kids over the kids were supposed to be ready for not not in the slightest? Okay. Yeah. Good for raising the Cobra KAI kids are cooler as where that's like, basically. That's what it boils down to. You. You watch the training that was the whole point of the scene when they interrupt Daniela Rousseau and Robbie and Sam doing their little presentation at the festival, and yeah, Cobra KAI comes in with all of the lighting and the fire, and they have a cooler, they have cooler jerseys. They do cooler moves they say cooler things. They're just cooler all the way round. Tori, is is great Miguel is great those two as a couple. You're I wish we would have got a little more of them that when she showed up. I I was crossing my fingers hoping okay, she's really going. She's going to guide Miguel to the dark and just let him be all the way. Dart didn't get there. She she was a good character. Good addition. I select the double date episode. I thought that was actually well executed not share. I felt about Johnny getting back together with the Cobra KAI guys. If you're going to do it, I feel like Dutch Dutch has to be involved, which was my favourite Koba character. I wanted I wanted Dutch even like if they just showed his mugshot from they is imprison Dutch Dutch is unbelievable and cried kid he's he has. I he's plays like eight minutes, and he puts up like twenty nine points and ten rebounds. One of the best. He has like three of the best sides of the movie, including my personal favorite. What's the matter? Daniel mommy's, not here to dress you which I still think. The most at Celtic thing anyone's ever said to anyone in a move is is that. But I I was upset that they didn't. They didn't have Dutch back in on this one. If he's back if he's back on the show does he still have the bleach blond hair, and the why did he believes his eyebrows? That was what was the most unsettling to me about Dutch in the kit. How crazy do you have to beat to bleach? Your eyebrows, crazy digest your full fledge Linnet ticket that point at crease comes back. He looked pretty good. Crease. He looks great. He he looks like a movie star you walk on the say, you're like, okay. All right. I see. But again, they gave all of Miguel's time to crease. And I and I don't know. Yeah. I mean, I know you need the conflict in the season. But let me just I just need. I just need as much of Miguel as possible. I'm ready for the Miguel. Spin off is what I'm ready for are you happy with a billion season for. I love it got love billion season for. I watched it early airport on Sunday. Kyle is just nodding. So impressed right now cable giants what you do. That's that's smart. Good advice. I. I've enjoyed billions as well on. I think d- the the Chuck speech at the end of episode for was really an Alzheimer just really well written and and well executed now, I guess it wasn't at the end. It was near the end the the whole speech about right? This. Stuff's gonna come out about me. And it's all true. I I love when characters do. Here's some stuff about me. And all of it's true.
