The only thing that scares me about that is the quarterback while that's given the that's given the player what he wants and that's that's not bell chip style. He's kind of like fuck you. i'm not gonna. i'm not gonna help you out this your first round. Pick your playing three quarters in the fucking preseason. "I think it's jacoby myers But i'm hopefully avoiding all these. Because i still think it's a run first offense as long as cam. Newton is a quarterback. What is cam do. Well kim runs well and so. I think it's still going to be a conservative offense again. We talked about the defense. The defense is going to be one of the best in the nfl. As well so. I don't think they're going to get into a lot of shootouts. I don't think going to be a bunch of high scoring games. And i do think that when they're throwing i think they will spread it around which has traditionally been. That's what brady always did and cam. Newton is brady. But you know from what i can tell of josh mcdaniels offense and he always changes his offense to his personnel but my expectation ears. They'll spread the ball around which is sort of the patriot. Way right and i don't know that any of them are going to have consistent fantasy value. I mean adler like listen obvious deep threat. Only tyreek hill had more deep touchdowns last year than him. He was great but like so they'll be five six games where adler has a huge game. Because he's got like a sixty yard touchdown or something like that. That's a great point and that's why being knowing when those are gonna com- totally as we talk throughout the as we go through preseason about and double trouble about all these kind of late round flyers there other wide receivers on other teams that i would much rather use those one or two darts that i have at the end of my draft than any of the patriots pass. Catchers would agree with that what i will say. Is that sometimes at the end of your draft. Not this like searching for you. You'd always love drafted justin. Justin jefferson sure. But you also understand that those. Are you know once every like eight years you make pick like that right like you have to get incredibly fortunate. The draft the player with your last pick who ends up being what the fifth best wide receiver and fantasy last season. Sometimes at the end of the draft museum of yourself who is the best. Buy week fillon amongst these players. That i could add and i think along those lines i would end up gravitating towards nelson aguilar of these four patriots wide receivers. We mentioned only because he may only have five or six weeks where he goes for fifteen plus fantasy points but if i have a bike fill in and i'm kinda shooting for the moon he would be the one that i think has the best chance to land on the moon. The jeff is murder now late at the space space moon. That'd be cool. Yeah no no i think. I think you're right. It's just it's trying to predict when those spike weeks calm. No doubt you're still. You're still throwing you know he's the i are drafting. The second dart is that when you have to use them you actually hit the bullseye again but just who i think represents the potential most weekly upside. He will be the wall. But i'm not sure any of them are must drafts amongst wide. Receivers the nicole harry's having a good camp but like the best case scenario for nicole harry is that he actually plays well. Yeah i mean. He was rumored to be traded. He was rumored to be cut life. He's he's he's struggled with with health. Route his nfl career. Even if he's on the floor on the field. I should say again. You've got myers you've got adler you've got the two tight ends. You've got the running backs and you've got the threat of cam. "Welcome back to another episode of the adam schefter podcast. The summer break is over. Football is about to begin and the podcast schedule is back on track and this week we will feature the ceo of wheels up. Kenny dichter. A name that some might not know but who most people will find inspirational motivational and instructional. On all the business success that he's had along with the relationships that he's formed along the way with men such as russell wilson. Tom brady and bill belichick. But before we get to. Kenny dichter i look back and look ahead at some of the events that transpired while the podcast was on a brief july fourth hiatus the biggest story that came out during that time in my mind was an i l. name image likeness. It has an will turn the college game on. Its head and its disrupted. The lives of nfl going forward. They used to recruit these players. Oh i would say starting in the full peaking around christmas and new years when they sign these college prospects to contracts that would enable them to be their agents and now it's a free for all now. These agents can go sign any athlete at the college level these football players to name image whiteness contracts and it distorts the college game now in addition to listening to his college football head coach. The football player will have an agent and adviser to listen to the agent and adviser will be making money for him while the head. Football coach conceptually will not and so now at a time. Where we're seeing this happen. I think more and more players are going to become a little bit more detached from their college football programs. Now we're going to be seeing players. Make more money at the college level. And i am all for that. They are entitled and deserving of every sunday can make. All i'm saying is the rules of the game are being changed and they're going to be changed dramatically in the name. Image likeness ruling is going to have a dramatic effect. Fans might not be able to recognize on their screens but will impact the way. These players conduct themselves. The way programs handle them and it will change the college game going forward in ways that we still don't even see coming. But that is a huge and deserving development. I should point out we also continue to wait for an answer from one. Aaron rodgers who very easily could have dismissed old speculation. That's going on around him with a simple statement of training camp where i'll be there on opening day and instead we haven't gotten that because the fact of the matter is the truth is he doesn't want to be in green bay. He hasn't planned to be back in green bay now. We'll see whether the packers him can come up with some sort of compromise that can lure him back there. But i don't believe. And i think aaron rodgers knows this that he wants to be back there nor plans to be back there at this time he just hasn't come out and said it. Look the fact that matters. He loves his coaches. He loves his teammates. He loves many of the people that he's worked with. But not everybody and so this obviously continues to set up as the storyline of this summer. We'll see how the packers handle it but the one thing i feel very comfortable and confident in saying is aaron. Rodgers does not want to play there anymore. The question is whether they can convince him to do it. And i don't know how that is going to work out. We also know that the former patriots first round draft. Pick nikiel harry. We'd like a trade requested a trade last week now again. This i don't know was the wisest move that nikiel harry could have made. If he wants to trade it would be very simple for him to go into the office of head coach bill belichick and privately tell him that he thinks it's in the best interest of everybody to move on but he did it publicly and my guess would be that if you want out of new england the way to do that would not be through the media. That if you're going to do it that way you hurt your chances and put a bull's eye on yourself for the summer and so i don't think nicole harry is going to get traded anytime soon. I do think he has basically invited. More attention and scrutiny on himself. But i don't think he's done anything to further his cause of wanting out of new england. Now i love trade story as much as anybody and if a player wants out and they want to tell me about that. I'm always here and always open to reporting it but the truth matters. It's usually better for the player to handle those issues privately with his organization which is not what nicole harry opted to do here and now we'll wait to see how that shakes out. The patriots aren't going to let anybody tell them what they are or aren't going to do at the patriots are going to do exactly what they want to do. One of those guys probably going to be the final roster spot where the wide receivers that just doesn't inspire a ton of confidence from me. The only guy that i feel good about his tyreek hill and then everybody else is a massive question mark in when i read earlier. This week from nate taylor of the athletes and i quote from the voluntary wait workouts in the teams mandatory minicamp mccoll hardman appears to be in position to have a breakout season as he is expected to have the role previously held by sammy watkins. That's terrifying for me. I i don't think he's a guy that profiles to play in that role sammy. Watkins was a prototypical x. Wide receiver where he can line up. On the line of scrimmage and beat man press coverage that is the opposite of what mccall hardman profiles as in fact the only guy on the team. Maybe you got two of them. That can do that. I think is cornell powell and byron pringle and i don't think those guys are starting level wide receivers at least not right now so i. I don't think they have that guy on the roster today. Listen i. We saw them fill that role with kendrick born. And now nikial. Harry of the new england patriots. Former first round pick has demanded a trade. He wants out of new england. I don't know that new england particularly cares that he's demanding a trade. But this is someone that's kyle and akash set on their show yesterday that the niners were heavily interested in When he came out in twenty nineteen he probably could be very very cheap. Do you wanna see the niners take a flyer on the keel hairy. Yeah at the right price. Obviously all come down to price. But i would try to fourth round pick. Wow for nicole. Harry our trade a fourth. What is the fourth. it's not that valuable. But the potential with nicky. Larry is big kyle. Shanahan loved him and on top of that. The niners have connection. The no other team has brennan was his team mate in two thousand eighteen at arizona state if brennan Signs on says yes. Go get him. Like i think he was a great teammate. He doesn't have problems. he has great workout. You know he has insight into how harry is behind the scenes. You know. I practice things like that. And if he signs off on it then why not you. Have you have somebody that shanahan loved. You have somebody that could come pretty cheap. Because it's just a mid round pick and you have somebody who has a teammate. But i gotta just feel like playing the odds that unless the forty niners are completely horrible at evaluating the wide receiver position. Essentially what the situation is now. It'd be kinda humorous. And i think the other thing that may be running through kyle's head is harry is not like a burner. He's not a separator. What he reminds me of basically is like deebo samuel very similar type of player. Who's not known for his speed but really really good with the ball on his hands. Good and space. Good on the run. Maybe in the back of kyle's mind he's like you know we can't rely on deebo to play all sixteen games. But if we had mikhael harry who could fill that role if if deebo gets hurt were okay. You know kyle. I feel like a big thing for him is like just keep the train moving. We can't get derailed by injuries. And i feel like their plan. Now is almost we know. These guys are gonna get hurt. We just have to build redundancies to me. If they get somebody. Like harry. And he's better at the out. Routes the post routes things like that i would slide devaux inside to the slot because what does deebo accelerate. He excels at those short yardage. Quick slants across the middle type of routes that the slot normally runs. I i could see it. Being harry norman plays on the outside and deebo is a heavily featured slot. I mean you've got plenty of teams where their slot receiver is the receiver on the team and goes for one hundred plus catches now. The debate is going to get one hundred plus catches but you know just because he's the slot not technically the starter doesn't mean deebo couldn't put up big numbers and be a massive focal point for the offense. That's an interesting point that i hadn't thought of i look. I just wanted to work man. I don't care where you're putting them. Just get in there and were. Let's see these guys on the field and see what they actually have. I still don't know how many games kiddle deebo and i. You have all had together especially with the starting quarterback. I think it's like less than five. Pretty sure only like one or two when you factor in the quarterback because i think it's around five with those three receivers when you factor in the fact that jimmy garoppolo was injured all last year. I think it's like one or two. That's unbelievable to me so yeah. Let's hope that that works itself. I we'll see what happens with an akil harry thing. I just want to point out too by the way that when the patriots drafted harry de que. Metcalf was on. The board depot was on the board carry. Maclaurin was on the board hideous job by the new england. Patriots absolutely hideous. They've never been good at drafting wide. Receivers and i know that bill. Belichick is a great coach. And he is. I don't think he's a very good. Gm and i think there's a tendency to just assume that whoever the patriots pick up is going to be good because they win a lot and that has not been the case somebody on twitter. 'cause i posted saying you know i would go after hearing and somebody replied like he hasn't done anything worthwhile and i made the point of other than randy moss and god mode for those couple years. What outside receiver has ever put a big stats for the patriots that oftens features the slot. They are the offense. I would argue in the nfl. That is the slot receiver feature because you went from west wilder to edelman and before that you even had guys like troy. Brown slid into the slot quite a bit when he put up some numbers. And i agree with you but never mind about the quarterback in who's throwing its who's receiving the football in dining and mike reece has a report about nicole harry that you saw that. Come out about how nicole. Harry is agent saying we're looking for a trade. Don't want to be here. Listen to what he says about the market. that's out there right now for their second year wide receiver. There's a reason he was selected. Thirty second overall in the two thousand nineteen draft out of arizona. State is. He showed some things on film that made him one of the top receiver prospects for a number of reasons. It hasn't worked for him here. I mean he got injured in his first training camp and then covert last year so in that sense he had a lot of things working against them. But this is the nfl. Gotta find a way to overcome it. I think the market from my view would be a team that had high grades on them coming out of arizona state that would say hey look maybe a change of scenery brings out the best in him and maybe we have a player that is in the same situation for us that the patriots view could make a difference in a change of scenery with them. And i think that would be the market that type of situation one of the points that was made why the agents said they're looking for a trade is at in his first two years. I just notice that he just wasn't getting the same amount of targets they don't think he's He's says nikiel. they drafted a dominant downfield threat. Who was virtually unstoppable at the point of attack in college and they feel like after conversations with the patriots best for both parties to move on from each other. As you mentioned they added tight ends. They added wide receivers veterans. All in free agency is this a guy that's just looking for a better opportunity or is he does. He have to have an opinion of himself. he should have a high opinion of himself fair. He should can't he play in the national. He wasn't number one clearly it would. He's not number one. he's just not trajectory. Can you get. He can be a good football player at that position in the national football league. But he's not okay when you have that type of size that he has and he can run when he gets going but there's no sutton quickness to his game like first of all one of the first things tell him. Is you need to lose some weight. You too damn big. He's too big. He needs to drop some weight any needs to get the type of training to get in and out of the brakes with sudden quickness. Things like that. Every ball is contested. He said college football agent. Who's an agent. By the way they never exactly says he was down the field dominant player in college football man. You plan against seventeen year old kid. You're going to be your senior. You're going to be dominant against the seventeen year old kid but i also saw true freshman like the amador. I was just thinking about timelines with this because Dion Doc inside his Last August. Now granted, That was a different scenario with your camp, and there was no many camps in O T A s, but they were already Practicing right. He signed his in August and then try devious white sign his right before the season. Remember, there was a question of even opting, interrupting out for true, devious white. He didn't opt out. Obviously. And then right before the season, you know, he signs his extension. So, um, I think these these things do tend to get done around that time. More so than now, now is the Let's talk. Let's see. Guy comes to camp, but I think that works out and it doesn't have to be because His agents are in town, necessarily, but I think there's a there's sometimes a PR element to it. There's sometimes a you know an opportunity to, you know, talk to the media. The guys here. He's with his team things like that and not say you hold off for those reasons. I think, though, that people know that there is time and you can do it. And if you do it at that time, there are other things that come into play that can be just a lot easier for everyone involved. You like them, But I just think that really speaks well to how well Brandon being this team. This roster is intact for the next several years. One roster that has been in flux in the division. I went to see his stats against the bills in his career, because I don't remember him ever contributing to the Patriots in his two years with the Patriots against the Bills, and I've got him at three catches for 24 yards. And stephen rees always looks at who cautioned him would target defensively before each game that they play and when they played the eagles last year week. Four jerry i guess was the target and obviously he blew that play against cal us. Check in the first quarter. Which nick missed so on so forth. You guys know the story. We laughed by winning outside because like how did cautioned and sign this player now. A month later they released. He was not very good with the eagles. He started seven games but he also was benched for his play. And that doesn't happen often. Well in that situation anyway. So the reason that i was wondering i i was wondering why san francisco signed him and i was wondering if maybe it was just because i wanted a veteran but he's not like an older player. If i remember correctly. I think he was there a number one receiver on their board. I believe in that early second round late first round spot where they ended up taking deebo samuel instead but i heard that they had nikiel harry ranked higher than deebo samuel in their board. Which looking back. I think they might have been saved by bill bell check in the patriots taking the harry. 'cause i think many would agree. That deebo samuel at this moment is the better player but a different story for different day nonetheless. I think this would be the perfect type of addition to the wide receiver room. I think it came up when we talked about adding like julio jones type player that was like a splash move. You know what you're getting but he's also expensive. He's gonna cost a lot. This is the opposite right. You've got two guys. In brandon you can emulate can rely on and now you're just trying to add another body that mix and adding kill harry for potentially you know a day three pig a conditional pick something like that and then picking up a salary which i think is only one point four million dollars next year and then one point eight in twenty twenty two so not expensive at all for two years and you got a twenty three year old who played about sixty percent of the snaps last season. I think he only caught thirty three passes however but just maybe a change of scenery Getting out of new england getting out of that system just coming back to the west coast. Reuniting with a former teammate. Of his in brandon. You getting him with wes. Welker you just never know just a change of scenery. This is the perfect type addition. I think to the team if it doesn't work out. Whatever you lose a day three pick but you the type of swings that contenders usually take and good teams usually hit on. They're able to develop guys sort of pay. Bilo sell high type thing so i think we're gonna make a call at the very least but i think he's gonna come down to the asking price and if new england's actually interested in moving harry.
